Wait pause I’m like almost done with Fairy Tail but quick question
After Cana breaks Mavis out of the lacrimal, is she just?? Cured of the Cures of Ankhseram??
I was thinking about what a cool plot point that was that she too was inflicted with this Curse of Contradiction and the different effects it had on her compared to Zeref and how the affected each other right and then I realized... It just?? Wasn’t happening??
And then Makarov called out on the battle field that Mavis was looking at Fairy Tail like pawns in a game and I figured that must be why it wasn’t activating and when Makarov fuckin died I thought that’d be a really cool place to reactivate the curse, sense it was Makarov’s birth in the first place that triggered it’s effects
And then it didn’t
So genuine question; Does it come back up again or is she just cured for plot sake??

this might not make sense but I absolutely love your billy and Stu playlist. Could you maybe write a couple headcannons on which songs they like and why? You could include the reader or not it's up to you thanks Maddy!❤️‍🔥
I think I get what you're asking. I hope you like it!💕
Billy's playlist
Stu's playlist
Tumblr media
Billy
1.) 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins
This is Billy's favorite song I don't make the rules. Smashing Pumpkins is one of his favorite bands. The song reminds him of a time he was happy. He listens to music like it'd play in a movie about his life. This would play while a montage of him and Stu flickered on the silver screen.
2.) The Killing Moon by Echo & the Bunny Men
This song always finds its way onto his mixtapes. It makes him think of how love can happen to anyone even if they pray it doesn't. He equates love with death just because you have no control over when and where it happens.
3.) A Day In The Life by The Beatles
A Beatles song amidst alternative rock is definitely a little jarring. Billy actually enjoys the Beatles. It was his mother's favorite band. He grew up listening to the Sgt Peppers album on repeat. She'd sing song after song to him trying to get him to sleep. This song reminds him of simpler times.
4.) How Soon Is Now? by The Smiths
Billy's a Smiths fan. He puts music on just to brood over his life. The man thinks he has better music taste than everyone else he knows. Stu likes to make fun of Billy's music taste. "Damn does that shit come with razor blades?"
5.) Mama I'm Coming Home by Ozzy Osbourne
Mommy issues. Likes to play music he knows that'll make him cry. He thinks if he makes himself cry in private he'll be less likely to accidentally cry around anyone.
6.) It's The End Of The World As We Know It by R.E.M
Stu knows all the words to We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel. Billy thinks he's a dork because of this. Yet in the privacy of his car, he will sing every single word of this song.
7.) Every Breath You Take by The Police
Told a girl he related to this song on a first date. He's still not sure why she stopped talking to him. Billy still thinks it's a romantic song.
8.) Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus
Only knows the song because of Silence of the Lambs. Will start dancing to this song if he's been drinking.
9.) Flesh For Fantasy by Billy Idol
Remember how I said he thinks about where a song would fit in a movie about his life? This would play while he's kissing down your chest. His movie wouldn't have a full sex scene he's not a sellout. More like a montage of kissing and soft moans. It would be frustrating to watch for people like me and you.
10.) A Girl Like You by Edwyn Collins
Without wasting words he'd play you this song hoping you'd understand how he felt about you. Billy was odd like that. He obsessed over lyrics and a song's meaning. When he realized he had a crush on you he immediately started making a list of songs that reminded him of you. They could put his emotions into words when he couldn't.
Stu
1.) In The Meantime by Spacehog
Stu loves music. He doesn't care about lyrics although they can make a song better. If he likes instruments he'll buy the album. Will buy a whole album for one song. This is one example. Stu doesn't like what he calls "sad bastard music." You will rarely catch him listening to music he knows will bum him out.
2.) Blood Makes Noise by Suzanne Vega
This song itches his brain every time he listens to it. Stu is odd. He likes rock but if there's too much going on it freaks him out. Not one for screamo makes him feel like he's being yelled at. This song is on his sex playlist do what you will with that information.
3.) Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Nirvana fan first human second. He has a crush on Kurt Cobain. Hates Cortney Love like she's Yoko Ono. Stu likes to learn about bands and artists' personal lives. He's nosey. "Can you believe that shit? I'd treat them so much better." Stu would rant to his friend about a random celebrity making Billy want to drink Draino.
4.) Paradise By the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf
He thinks the song is hilarious. Will perform the 8-minute-long song at karaoke. There will be an empty room once he's done. He doesn't regret his actions.
5.) A.D.I.D.A.S by Korn
It was your fault. You picked out the movie Say Anything and made him watch it. You woke up at 3 in the morning to Stu loudly blasting this song outside of your house. Not only was it funny it was romantic to him. Cops were called.
6.) I Was Made For Lovin' You by KISS
This is one of Stu's favorite songs. When he was little he was obsessed with KISS. He'd put on a full face of face paint and he'd stain his tongue and hands with red food coloring. The boy would run around the house singing and dancing. To his parents, however, Stu's unserious habit of playing with makeup wasn't something they were proud of. His music taste is all over the place because he constantly went through different phases trying to figure out what he could do to please his parents. Nothing ever did.
7.) Peaches by The Presidents of the United States
If you write a song that sounds good and had some goofy ass lyrics Stu's sold. Stu will sing this every time the school lunch consists of peaches. Billy has thrown several trying to get his friend to shut up.
8.) Iron Man by Black Sabbath
Stu loves to stir up shit and have arguments. He was actually on the debate team for his freshman and sophomore years of high school. Billy thinks Ozzy Osbourne is better alone than with Black Sabbath. Every time this is brought up Stu acts like a little piece of him dies. Plus when this song comes on the radio Stu likes to cover his mouth imitating the voice at the beginning. It's where they got the whole ghostface voice idea from.
9.) Fight For Your Right by Bestie Boys
Stu is a huge fan of The Beastie Boys. Their first record is a go-to when there's a party at his is. Of course, this is his favorite song of theirs. The amount of times that man has bounced around an empty house blasting that band is almost worrying.
10.) Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads.
Best for last. If Stu had a theme song this would be it. In his movie, it'd play as he's running around as Ghostface. He has a lot of energy so he loves to chase people. Randy called him an "evil golden retriever" once and Stu likes the comparison.

Chef anon here. I had this idea Izanami having a kid with her s/o. Probably by accident. But imagine how it would flip her whole worldview. Like she's supposed to be the god of death but here she is literally creating life.
This is quite the unexpected meal you've cooked up, chef, quite strange indeed. I actually had a ton of fun writing this surprisingly, I don't know how but it was. Keep cookin' like this, this got me over my writer's block like a charm.
Tumblr media
-For this to happen you're definitely gonna need to be a guy. No offense to any ladies out there (are you even out there reading my work?), but accidental pregnancies typically do not happen in Yuri.
-This was something that really should not have happened. It did happen though when Izanami was feeling rather frisky on one particular night. Those less than pure urges finally started to surface once you started dating her which certainly took her by surprise. It was an...interesting night to say the least.
-What was even stranger however was the next couple of weeks after that. She started experiencing strange symptoms of...something. Her suspicions were only confirmed when she sensed life inside of her, something that didn't normally happen. This only meant one thing...
-Izanami hadn't bothered with protection that night. She believed that being a living Drive and the embodiment of death itself meant that this was physically impossible. Yet somehow it was possible.
-She had zero idea how to go about this. Granted she wouldn't have much trouble hiding this, she almost never made public appearances as the Imperator anyway, but this completely went against her very nature and her goal.
-When you found out about this however, you were quite happy, much to her surprise, especially if you know about her goal to destroy the Master Unit and end the world.
-The child is born away from the public eye. The only help is nurses personally selected by Izanami herself and they're under very strict orders to not tell anyone of this. This is probably the first time she actually feels pain. It's not what she was expecting, in a rather intriguing way.
-Due to being a Drive, it only takes her but a few hours to recover once she tells the nurses they can go and she's back at it like nothing ever happened. She heads back to her quarters to see you there caring for the baby as it's asleep, admiring and treasuring it. You greet Izanami with a smile and immediately start listing off possible names you were thinking of.
-For the first time in her existence, she doesn't really know what to do. This isn't meant to be her purpose, yet upon seeing how ecstatic you were at having a little one in your life, she eventually decided that it was at the very least worth a shot. She already gave you a chance after all, even if she still planned to carry out her mission.
-However as time goes on, she actually comes to genuinely care for this child she's given life to, even if by accident. She'd heard stories of parenthood changing people in unexpected ways, but she never expected said ways to be so drastic, let alone to even happen to her in the first place.
-She's expectedly pretty clueless on how to care for a child at first, she needs you around to show her the ropes so that she doesn't accidentally kill it. The fact that this is a genuine worry only gives her even more of an existential crisis.
-She's more torn than she ever has been in her life. Her goal was to always bring an end to this pointless looping world that the Origin had let go on for far too long. She'd always reasoned that this goal was justified because of this phenomenon making all of existence completely meaningless. But with both you and her own child in the picture now...
-...Now she's not so sure.

Pls can we hear more about amun-shae and mordrin hanin the mehrunes dagon cultist ruining sotha sil's life? I always thought it was tragic we don't hear more about Almalexia's mother and her mortal upbringing considering she's literally a queen and part of a great goose like surely there'd be more historical records about her family and stuff
a great goose... amun-shae the poultry queen
amun-shae's a bit of a funny character for me because so much of her life is defined by the nordic occupation-- she was the ruler during the invasion, and "murdered" (allegedly) during the latter period of the occupation. so when someone goes 'tell me about amun-shae' my impulse is to start rattling off a list of major tragedies she lived through. husband killed by mem-yet chemua during the invasion, lived most her life as a puppet queen to the nords, was forced to flee mournhold during a reactionary backlash following the murder of a nord, accidentally had a bastard daughter to the man sheltering her during exile. died ignominiously of mysterious causes. but i feel like this also kinda does a disservice to her, so!
amun-shae was a prolific traveler in her youth-- she was the only daughter of the queen and heir to the throne, but back in those days it was a chimeri noble tradition to go cause trouble in mournhold as a youth, so she got to meet all the youngest and most bored nobles in the land and they went on a lot of stupid trips. she was good friends with both kronin ra'athim and thalthil dres and even had some encounters with mordrin hanin when hanin was likewise a young troublemaker.
during her adventures she fell in love with the son of the matriarch of one of the indoril clans, who were at that time busy schisming from the mournhold royal lineage to become Great House Indoril due to a massive fallout between amun-shae's incompetent mother and the overly ambitious aforementioned indoril matriarch. her and lexival aran's romance became a convenient way to reunite the new House Indoril and the disgraced mournim line, so amun-shae returned to mournhold and married lexival, then accepted her mother's abdication and assumed the throne herself.
as a person she was very serious, but definitely not without a humorous side-- strangers tended to be intimidated by her until they realised she had a very deadpan sense of humour, after which they'd find her hilarious. she also had a deathly serious sense of duty, which almalexia inherited-- she was very focused about doing "what's right for people" and saw virtue in sacrifice, to the point of having a bit of a martyr complex, if martyrs never received the relief of a glorious death and instead were forced to endure a horrible reality for centuries
the invasion and occupation changed her however. as i mentioned, lexival was murdered (gruesomely, publicly and spectacularly) by mem-yet chemua, and this prompted amun-shae to surrender mournhold in exchange for retaining her throne. living under occupation made her deeply paranoid and suspicious, which are also traits almalexia had drilled into her from early childhood. she remained a very good leader with a maniacal sense of duty to her city, and spent most of her rule playing the looooong game of earning the nords' trust to set up mournhold as a potential base from which a rebellion could eventually launch. so, nerevar has a lot to thank amun-shae for.
to finish off about almalexia's childhood and why we don't know anything about her backstory... i used to hate that (still do) but i've come to begrudgingly accept that annihilating any trace of her mortal existence is very in character for almalexia. almalexia despises the fact that she was ever mortal, it makes sense to me that she'd eradicate any evidence that she was once a little girl in a big castle with a haunted mother and a lot of scary men who wanted to hurt her. that is the last thing she wants anyone to know.
not that she didn't honour her mother in her own way. she's still a chimer, after all.
i feel like this is way too long to also get into mordrin fucking hanin (he is his own essay unfortunately) but. hey. there's way more amun-shae lore than you probably wanted. i've covered like 40% of her life. enjoy

Kat backstory???👀
*vibrating in excitement* ok get ready for my word vomit that's mostly made up by me because we NEVER LEARN A DAMN THING ABOUT KAT
spoilers for the whole series under cut, just be warned
ok just btw this is based more off of book canon because she acts a bit different in the show :)
so let's start off with her lack of sense of humor. she doesn't even do that cheesy laughing-along-at-a-mean-joke thing that all book and tv bullies do, she kinda just. stands there. Lucy says she's almost uncomfortable, annoyed, when people laugh, cuz she can't tell why. no humor. (and yes I would bring in SHES NEURODIVERGENT because duh everyone ends up headcanoned neurodivergent by me eventually, but that's not the point lol)
so, with a combination of possibly this and her job, she doesn't seem to have many friends, nor is she exactly the life of the party. she seems kinda distant from everyone. no emotions. does not care. but then in hollow boy when Bobby goes missing she reacts quite strongly, and she also mourns the loss of Ned. so clearly these were her friends. she LOVED these people. and that isn't talked about too much in the books; Lucy likes to think she's blank and empty and unattached, which is true, but she also seems to be very loyal to those she loves. and this is where I come in >:)
ok explanation over, here goes my backstory that has very little to do with what was given in canon, as we were not GIVEN much to start
so i fixated on her being close to bobby on that one scene and headcanoned that she had a younger sibling before. a little brother. she was really sweet to him and loved him a ton, although to everyone else she seemed distant and cold, but that was ok. she didn't mind, that was just how she was. she loved him and would do anything for him. then she joined fittes as soon as she was old enough, her father made her, and it was fine until her brother did too. so strings were pulled. he joined her team (not kipps team yet btw, an entirely different one.) and, as things go, he was killed on a case. with her there. cuz you know, trauma
but the one person she was soft around. gone. she became even more distant with nobody to give her love to, nobody to be loyal to.
she was switched teams. she needed it. her old one was killing her inside. she joined kipps' team, a new supervisor, clearly grumpy and incredibly disappointed of where he wound up, but it was ok. she warmed up to him. he was decent; he'd get closer to them later, she'd learn. and then came Ned; he was a bit dense and laughed a lot. kat wasn't sure why; nothing he said was funny anyway. he was rather annoying, she decided. but ned noticed this and tried his hardest to get her to crack a smile. (nothing worked, not because she didn't want to but because she straight up didn't get it lol.) the first time it actually worked was when he accidentally ran into a pillar on a case, which caused her to double over laughing (much to her surprise), which in turn made him as well, and kipps tried to hide his smile too. however, fittes wasn't too big of a fan of this display of unprofessional behavior, so the joking was kept mostly to themselves, when they weren't AT fittes.
and then came bobby. he was brand new, really small and quite scared looking most of the time. ned feared if she breathed too hard he'd blow away and said this aloud with a smile, but Kat's heart had been touched. he was just like her brother. she wasn't going to let anything happen to him. as cases went on, she babied him even more and treated him like her own sibling, and Ned found it funny and then joined in. more found family!! bobby had already accepted his place as kats new little sister that he could not do a thing about. kipps wasn't too big of a fan of this unprofessional behavior, but kat knew better than that. he loved his new little family too, even if they were all a little confused with life and almost permanently unrelaxed. they could only find themselves letting their guards down together. not even on purpose, it's just how it happened. kat was always tense otherwise. the others confused her. but she was so loyal to her new family.
then, as we all know, Ned dies. bobby was a mess; that was his big brother. kat was frozen. that was the boy who really taught her how to laugh, her teammate, her best friend. she found herself even closer to bobby then. they had to stay close. there goes the family.
so you can imagine her horror when Bobby ran away to find Ned's fetch; she couldn't lose him too!! but then he came back. he was hurt, she knew, but it was ok because he was there now. he'd be fine. she took care of him even though he insisted he didn't need it after that case, laughing gently, literally the very definition of caring big sister. she'd never let it happen again. she found herself closer to him still.
but then kipps went too. went and tried to stuff down his feelings like he didn't care, like kat could even stand him leaving. they were both frozen, both numb. kipps had left, kipps, who acted like he didn't care about them in public, like he was just the boss, someone above them, when he really loved them too. how dare he.
so then the final two were forced to split up. you can't have a team of two agents and no supervisors, after all. kat got a new team. so did Bobby. she saw him in a few cases that he was part of; it took everything in her to not run to him, and once she gave in and did. then it took everything else to finally pry herself free. bobby asked about kipps. kat told him she didn't know anything, which was true, she just didn't add that she was too hurt by him not fighting for them to try and find out.
she did see him, though, once, walking down the street. he tried to wave for her attention. she pretended not to see and sped away.
ok, kinda just grasping at random stuff to find what happens next. clearly she doesn't get Ned or kipps back. fittes is kinda not the way it was anymore; not too sure how that's going to work out for her. she'll see bobby again tho, I will NOT let her never see him again. I like to think he made some friends on his new team, but he'll always miss his old one. maybe kat will stop to see him when she can more often, idk. come to think of it, we never learned it any of them are alive...... ok for kats sake I am making the decision that bobby did not die.
I don't think she'd want to go home. I do think, tho that she needs a less traumatic life IDK HOW THIS HAPPENED ALL I DID WAS GIVE HER A BROTHER AND TAP INTO EMOTIONAL ISSUES
SO
kat gets a job at Arif's. he's a grandfather figure for her now. she delivers and sometimes helps decorate donuts and learns to feel love again.
ok that was LONG I apologize. I also didn't proofread it really so uh forgive typos and nonsense please (or tell me lol)
I may make an actual fic of this rather than just a really long summary lol

babbling about iris and a bit about dahlia bc they are awesomely awesome characters
iris is one of The characters ever like takumi accidentally wrote an amazingly compelling morally-grey female character but barely did anything w her (common trend with his characters)
Tumblr media
like this is an insane line that everybody just glosses over like.. dahlia's murder of doug swallow + attempted murder of phoenix wright is, by iris' own admission, the first time dahlia had ever acted out without iris' knowledge. and yes iris' line here can be interpreted specifically as "this was the first time dahlia's actions regarding phoenix weren't planned between dahlia and iris", but considering that:
1.) iris knew abt dahlia's faked kidnapping plot
2.) knew that dahlia had poisoned armando, and pretended to be dahlia to try and retrieve the necklace from phoenix in order to protect her
and 3.) hid the fact that she swapped places with a channelled dahlia at the sacred cavern,
im more inclined to believe that this line of hers meant that this is the first time that dahlia had ever acted out without iris' knowledge. which would then imply that every other scheme dahlia had carried out before this, iris has had knowledge of.. which honestly makes sense. like several of dahlia's crimes (faked kidnapping + murder of valerie) took place in close proximity of hazakura temple, and when u take this line into account, its more than likely that iris had played some sort of role in valerie's murder. like.. im sorry its just so mindboggling to me that so many ppl talk abt iris like she's the "good" twin or that she was threatened into helping dahlia bc like.... that just isnt true. if she was actually a "good" person, she wouldve let someone know that terry fawles was being framed, that dahlia had murdered valerie, and tht dahlia had poisoned armando and gave the evidence away to phoenix. cuz like what would dahlia hv done to her? shes a small woman whose preferred method of killing is poison, and even though iris had said this:
Tumblr media
dahlia's attempt to kill phoenix was a discrete attempt at poisoning, which relied on him being sick, and failed anyways. her murder of doug swallow was a matter of luck that a dangerous live wire was just dangling around, and her stabbing of valerie is well... lmfao its video game logic so ill ignore that. and also like, dahlia actually cares abt iris. its extremely unlikely she'd ever hurt her, and this is evident in the way that she had never once incriminated iris at any point. she couldve revealed tht iris had known abt the faked kidnapping, had known that she poisoned armando and was planning to kill phoenix, and yet she never does. during 3-5's final trial dahlia calls iris a nuisance and a backstabber, but yet never once does she reveal the extent of iris' complicity. the most she does is privately reveal to phoenix that iris had known abt the faked kidnapping. and she only does this as a channelled spirit, who now harbors a degree of resentment towards iris for her 'betrayals':
Tumblr media
but when dahlia was alive? what would she hv done to threaten iris? the most plausible thing she could do is maybe threaten the safety of sister bikini, but yet this possibility is never mentioned at any point. what is more likely is that iris wasnt being threatened into helping dahlia out, and instead helped her out of her own volition bc she loved and cared for her in spite of everything:
Tumblr media
and this would also then make this other crazy line from iris make much more sense:
Tumblr media
iris, knowing full and well that dahlia cared deeply for her, would use her own well-being as a bargaining chip to protect phoenix. basically, "if you try to kill phoenix i will Kill Myself." and also the fact that she admits that she considered killing her own sister like... DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A "GOOD" TWIN TO YOU??
and say even if iris was being threatened by dahlia... she still continues to keep quiet about everything, even after shes incarcerated and has no means to hurt her. never once does iris reach out to phoenix and tells him "yeah sorry but i was lying to you for 6 months". even when phoenix is right in front of her face, she still doesnt admit this to him. and then she goes on to cover up another murder, this time at the hands of godot, and continues to lie to not just phoenix, but other members of law enforcement. and when faced with dahlia, who is being channelled by maya.. she still chooses to help her, aiding her in deceiving everyone:
Tumblr media
oh and did i also mention that she um.. BRUTALLY DESECRATED HER AUNT'S CORPSE...?!?!?
like it really drives me nuts how ppl say that she's the opposite of dahlia, that shes her better half. cuz shes really... really not. shes been an accomplice of dahlia for god knows how long, having kept quiet about her various killings and poisonings, deceived phoenix for 6 months and let him believe for 6 whole years that the woman who loved him was also the woman who tried to kill him, had considered killing her sister, tried to cover up a murder, helped her dead sister deceive everyone, and desecrated her aunt's corpse. and shes an amazing character for that!!! iris is just as dark-hearted as dahlia, and the only difference is that she never took the plunge and took someone's life, though she does admit to having considered doing that. but still, she is an accomplice all the same.
both her and dahlia love each other, but hold feelings of resentment and remorse towards one another. dahlia feels betrayed by iris, and iris knows this. also this post puts this aspect of dahlia's character into words much better than i ever could, so let me just snag it and put it over here:
Tumblr media
in order to reduce iris into this "good twin threatened by her evil twin", it requires a disregard and flanderization of both iris' and dahlia's character. and considering how much this fandom loves to beat down dahlia and regard her as this cartoonishly evil character, its no wonder that iris' character is similarly oversimplified; bc people love to make dahlia = bad, then iris must be good! well BZZZT Wrong! both iris and dahlia are amazingly complex characters... who unfortunately exist in ace attorney's universe, where character complexity is secondary to murder mystery, if its even considered at all. and this is why the narrative does the insane decision to frame phoenix's unwavering belief in iris' character as a good thing which is um. Excuse Me? like he has no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the woman he fell in love with isnt the same woman who tried to kill him. but like ok sure he's defended clients in more incriminating situations, so the story is probably drawing a final parallel of Believe In Your Client with phoenix's and iris' dynamic. except the reveal that phoenix's gf did not try to kill him but instead.... lied to him for 6 months, never told him about the danger he was in during this time, left him to believe that she tried to kill him, and continued to deceive him is like. Bro. Hello. nothing about this is admirable and just makes phoenix look like an extremely unhealthily devoted man like....!!!?!?
but anyways YEAH iris is a charmingly complex character who was too good for ace attorney. sniffles. but i see you iris i know you're crazy and i love u!!!

thread: the prismya incident tuesday, july 25th-friday july 28th, 2006 @myersbprd
-
wednesday, july 26, 2006 somewhere around 9:30am (prismya local) prismya countryside, mountain valley filled with small villages and an expansive castle complex which used to house the local ruler of the region. has held an increase in activity, construction equipment, and people to the area in recent years. also many disappearances. rainy and dark gray skies, foggy, cloudy, low visibility.
Tumblr media
blood seeps into dirty lab attire, wet and gluey texture smearing across dried flakes. the last day.. hours.. had it been a day since she'd managed to send the message? had it been only roughly fifteen or so? it was difficult to keep track. she couldn't know. (and if she was frank it wasn't just the last day that'd been a nightmare but every moment since she'd started to discover the truth months ago.) hell, mara couldn't know if her transmission had actually gotten through either. maybe the corporation had jammers in place once the accidental outbreak had begun. an effort to keep things quiet before the final steps of their plans had been put into place. she had had a passkey though so mara had to believe it went through. had to believe someone would see it. someone would help.
maybe not her.
she'd like to believe that her nightmare would end but mara could accept if it wouldn't. there were more important things at play and she'd been living on borrowed time for the vast majority of her life. a few inches to the left.. if leon had pulled her down under the table a second later than he had... no children should have had to go through that. and no person should have to go through the shit show that was happening in prismya either.
but her life?
it wasn't as important as the millions or billions that could be affected if the release wasn't stopped. not in the end game at least. she needed to stay alive long enough to find the components and finish synthesizing the cure for the omega strain. but there was claire too. how morbid a sense of humor the fates had. it wasn't as if mara had ever been close to the girl. hell, she'd only met her a handful of times. yet mara knew claire was important to her cousin and no person deserved to endure what they'd been doing to her or what they planned for her. mara had to stay alive long enough to help her too. there were so many variables at play. so many tasks to be completed and she didn't even know how god damn long had passed since she'd been in the city. she knew she wasn't in the city anymore though.
that'd been a factor in why she couldn't place the time.
when the outbreak had begun at the facility, chaos had erupted. she'd had enough time to get a message out. she'd nearly been killed or worse infected or turned by affected of the alpha strain too. but then she'd been grabbed and everything had gone dark until she'd found herself on a transport with claire. there hadn't been much time, both barely conscious but she'd been able to communicate some information before they'd realized they were waking up. darkness had taken hold again until she'd found herself in another location.
cold, damp, stone.
it wasn't a lab though she held no doubts a lab would be somewhere. vampires of the old world, it seemed, had a fucking fascination with intricacies. with mazes and hiding things, places within other places like some god damn fun house. every facility was fucking dracula's castle or summer home. or maybe that was just a crazed psychopath thing.
Tumblr media
when she'd awoken, it'd felt as if she was in some kind of dungeon, cold hands hoisting her up as if they intended to kill her or at least harm her. she didn't have a clear recall of being placed in the room yet a few flashes of semi-conscious fighting... her slicing a face with her nails, kicking to try to escape through the door they'd brought her through... was vaguely recalled and the man's vampiric features and anger in his dark eyes told he had been the one that had received the brunt of her previous attack and he intended to make her pay for it. healed or not. however, one thing they hadn't taken into account was that mara wasn't without her own abilities. she might not be full of muscles or have vampiric strength but she'd spent the majority of her childhood before everything had gone to shit and she'd ended up in foster care living with a parent that was determined to form him in his image. to perhaps one day take over his side of the syndicate. she thought at the time that had been the vision of both her father and her uncle for leon too.
they'd be the next generation.
mara had taken to things a bit more easily than her cousin but she hadn't understood the true depths of what their parents were really involved in. she'd been too young-- younger than leon-- to understand the scope. but mara had also known how to dismantle and put back together a gun at six-years-old. maybe that was fucked up. yeah, it was, but there had been love there too. her father loved her. he just hadn't fully understood how to show it and how to handle a kid after her mother died and with the fear that something could take his daughter away from him too. it was what it was. there was no changing the past and mara's whole life direction had changed on the night when nearly her entire family (sans leon who maybe they didn't talk all the time and he'd been pretty hush about his job but they'd made the effort even in foster care to maintain contact with the only real family they had left) had been wiped from the planet. mara had developed her own goals, her own personality. she'd decided she wanted to help people not cause the world more problems.
a fucking great job she was doing with that huh?
all that was to say, her father had had some of his best people teaching her to defend herself since she was first able to run and she'd further developed those skills by talking her foster parents into letting her take karate as she grew up. she wasn't defenseless and she'd come to understand something about those infected and true vampires too. she was observant; she certainly had to be lately. and so the dried blood upon her clothes an hour later had come from the man she'd woken to trying to kill her, his head smashed above his body that lay back in that dungeon. she'd been wandering in the labyrinth of a complex since then. figuring out quickly that it was some kind of old castle that had been retrofitted in certain sections with more high-tech equipment. she'd managed to find part of a map-- not complete because of fucking course not-- and some files that talked about the labs in another area.
her previous passkey hadn't worked and she'd held no doubt that the scientist who'd been her ally thus far likely paid for giving it to her by now. still, a lot of people were stupid and it appeared some vampires were no exception. maybe it was because they were so old and technology so new but one of them had left the password next to the computer on a post-it note. that'd led mara into discovering that the complex had three separate labs and that they were keeping different components separated in each. no team had access to everything. and the samples had only been moved here from the city a few days before now as a safegard. it meant she'd have to traverse the whole complex if she wanted to complete her self-imposed mission and there was no telling how many affected by the various strains of the v-virus she'd encounter on the way. she just hoped that claire was fairing better. he'd told her he'd try to help claire escape. if the passcode hadn't gotten the man killed she was fairly certain that had if he'd followed through.
Tumblr media
that had led to the present, mara taken down to the floor by someone trying to attack her neck, her arms, anywhere blood flowed, a crazed look upon their turning features. he wasn't a full-on vampire. he didn't have the ease of movement and honed skill and strength of one. that helped. but he'd still nearly tore into her flesh before they'd crashed into a wooden piece of furniture in the hallway, breaking it and giving her the chance to grab at a sharp edge and send it through his eye with two hands. she'd taken a few moments to breathe, almost vomiting before she'd forced herself up and used other broken pieces to demolish the rest of his head, wet blood meeting the dried blood on her clothes. that's how she's found, standing over the body with blood on her and a broken piece of wood raised when she meets the gaze of a man. it's hard to see his face for a moment, her trying to focus her eyes as she shifts into a defensive stance. but then she does see it and she knows someone got her message because maybe he wasn't her handler but he'd been in at least one video transmission with the person that had been. the bprd. another agency she hadn't known existed before a few months ago. just how much shit was the government keeping under wraps? were aliens at area 51 too?
okay. okay. maybe luck was shifting. but he was only one person and she was standing covered in blood. shit.
"i'm not infected!" mara states quickly, dropping her makeshift weapon to the floor next to the body and raising her hands up. she didn't like the vulnerability not having a weapon made her feel but right in this moment it was more important to show the agent she wasn't turned or turning or become some kind of foe. "he was. i had to-- he would have come back and killed me and anyone else he found." she states, motioning toward the body. "how much of the transmission did you guys get? shit is going down but i have to try to make the vaccine. claire's here. i have to try to cure her and if it does get released.. if they manage to complete their plan.. this might be the only chance we have of having a vaccine sample. but this place is a god damn minefield inside a labyrinth. please tell me it's not just you. there's reinforcements right?" she shouldn't even fathom that somehow her own cousin could be somewhere around too. she had no reason to believe he would be.

✉ @zcitgcistcr said: Meta + family for Jinx x)
Family is an extremely complicated topic for Jinx. First and foremost, I'd say that family has always been one of the most important things to her. The people she considers to be her family are incredibly important to her, even if she doesn't always get along with them, and she'd do just about anything to keep them from leaving her. Unfortunately, despite how much she cares for her family, every time she gets close enough to people to consider them family, they're always taken away from her. First her parents, then Vander, Milo, and Claggor, and then Vi, which arguably hit the hardest just due to the fact that Jinx believed Vi abandoned her voluntarily, unlike all the others, right when she had nobody else left and was already struggling with the knowledge that she'd accidentally killed everyone else she loved-- a guilt that follows her for the rest of her life, to the point of causing hallucinations.
After having her family taken from her so many times, Jinx only grew more and more defensive of what she does have left. She'd do anything to keep herself from being abandoned again, no matter how heinous the crime, and she lashes out and acts recklessly as soon as she feels like they're starting to slip away from her. She feels like she has to prove her worth in order to justify keeping her around. At the same time, she's also prone to turning entirely on people the second she gets the sense that they've betrayed her, no matter how close they were before. She'd much rather be the one to end things than feel the pain of being left behind again. In fact, I'd say she's constantly looking for signs that she'll be abandoned again, and her paranoia often causes her to make things even messier.
There's also the matter of the idea of family often being used to manipulate her. Like I said, she turns on people quickly at the first signs of betrayal, however if they start playing on her fears of abandonment and the idea that they're family and they need her, she crumbles. Feeling loved and needed by someone she considers to be family is something of an absolute need for Jinx...
I guess if I had to sum it up, her relationship to 'family' is one made up of contradictions. She holds her family closer than anything else, but somehow always manages to destroy it. She's terrified of being alone again, but she'll turn on someone the second she starts seeing the signs of betrayal. Her trust has been broken so many times, and yet she'll cling desperately onto the first person to show her any care. What she really needs is something stable to hold onto and keep her steady, but her impulsiveness and insecurity makes it nearly impossible... It's a lot of push and pull.

I mean, somebody's got to be the bad guy, and Bianca's just the one who makes the most sense!
And if you were Bianca wouldn't you do the same?
There's a horrible monster that you've only heard of. It gets inside of a person and slowly takes over their body. There's no way to identify if someone's been infected until they are already dead and a threat to everyone around the body.
Now, essentially this was a problem for like cave people though. You're smarter now, more evolved. You would surely know if you saw one of these infected people. There are few tell tale signs at the end before they truly become dangerous.
And then you hear rumors that one of your younger children's friend might be infected. You read all the research and basically the only thing to be done is either experimental surgery on the friend, which still leaves you with a dangerous monster you don't actually know how to safely kill. Or to just essentially lock said person up and hope that you have enough preventative measure to keep you and all your children safe.
You don't know how strong the monster in the infected person is. You don't know if your child even knows any of this. She's living with a ticking time bomb that can go off at any moment. At any moment the creature can kill its host and spread its spawn around and you aren't sure you have anything that can kill it or its spawn.
So you set your best scientists to developing something that can kill the monster and even the spawn if need be. And to develop a surgery to potentially save the poor soul that's been infected. And once everything is as prepared as you can get it to be on such short notice, you put the hive on lockdown. (You can't do anything for the non-hive inhabitant yet. You don't know if that will tip off the monster.)
And then you trick your child into coming into her own home with her friends. Who are adults you don't really know, but that she adores. You have the sick one taken for what healing you can hopefully give him. It is more dangerous, but perhaps he can still be saved, and many of your daughters are quite interested in his continued well being according to the gossip going around.
You have healthy one sent away so you one of your older children can inform him of his friends illness. And so you can speak with your daughter alone. She hardly ever comes home anymore and really, you should be the one to break such awful news to her.
Your daughter comes home with her friends and immediately starts a fight with her sisters, she always a handful. She'd been causing trouble for all her older sisters since the moment she hatched. But your older ones take care of it, and bring her to you.
The poor thing is already upset. Fur ruffled and trying to rub tear tracks off her face. You wanted to have a short, happy conversation before you break such awful news to her. But you really must address her appalling behavior, starting a fight wither her sisters just because she didn't like how you handle this emergency.
And then she starts to argue and shout at you, as if she was raised in the deserts and not in your hive. All her other sisters know better, you don't know why she struggles so much. You thought letting her leave home for a bit would help calm her, and it did to a degree, but she has lost nearly all her manners. Perhaps those friends of hers aren't as good as influence as you'd thought they were.
You thought your daughter was upset before, but you truly weren't prepared for the tantrum she throws after you break the news to her. You let the behavior slide, this is truly a situation out of a nightmare and she is only a young girl.
And then you find out that your daughter knew about the monster in her friend. That she brought it into your home where it could kill you and all your children before it wreaked havoc on everyone else. In your anger, you accidentally lash out at your child.
Your poor daughter who thinks a monster is her friend. The same monster that used her to get into your home to kill you all. And your heart breaks for her, your independent little daughter who left to go on a little teenage adventure and brought a nightmare to your door.
She doesn't truly understand what she's done. How could she? What child could resist the lies of a monster made to gain trust? She's inconsolable about the death of something that was just waiting for the right moment to eat her alive.
Your daughter has worked herself up so much she can't be calmed by your assurances. You send her off to the only sister she can manage to get along with. She'll wear herself out soon enough.

Analysing Episode 6 Sylvie - her actions, her choice and a whole bunch of theories (Spoilers!)
After watching the Loki finale, I have been scrolling through Tumblr for quite a long time. I already knew that people's opinions were gonna be incredibly different but I definitely did not expect this much negative backlash. Especially when it comes to two specific topics - the Sylvie and Loki kiss and Sylvie's betrayal (/choice/actions). I'm gonna be talking about the latter, for it is another time I'll talk a lot about Sylki's relationship. (Beware that this post is also really long though)
First of all, everyone has different opinions and I respect that. I absolutely adore movies, books, TV-shows and videogames because despite what's happening within the story, each viewer has the opportunity to see something else in what they are shown (besides the obvious canon). What I mean is that everyone interprets certain scenes differently and gains the opportunity to make up theories. Therefore I want to clarify that I do, by no means, want to force my views upon others. It's nice to see people talk about the Loki Series (as long as it doesn't get too negative and hateful, iykwim) because every viewer can share their specific experiences with it :)
I'm gonna analyse Sylvie's character a bit ( because, well, I'm bored and I kinda wanna protect my beloved character that I've only had for a few weeks >:^0 AND the only thing I could think about the past day was this episode) and try to explain her actions in the finale (keep in mind: not justifying them, but explaining them).
I'm terribly bad at concentrating on one single topic point so I kinda made a 'list' with questions and whatnot that I wanted to dive deeper into. Your thoughts are also more than welcome!
I already want to apologise for grammatical mistakes, for I am not a native english speaker.
Sylvie's reason for being taken away by the TVA is still kinda unknown
You know, I've heard quite a few theories about Sylvie's nexus event by now. Some people say that she got taken away because she was playing with her toys in a way that indicates her having a good heart (playing as a Valkyrie and wanting to save someone, another hint may also be the reaction she showed towards someone else who got kidnapped by the TVA, yelling at the soldiers to "help them out"). Another theory is that she already knew she was adopted, unlike Loki who found out way later than her. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but we never got to hear the actual reason why Sylvie got kidnapped. Even Renslayer didn't say a word about it.
Now I'm gonna come up with yet another theory. What if Sylvie didn't really have a nexus event in the first place how we know it? In the final episode, Kang has said that he has planned out everything beforehand so both Loki and Sylvie would end up right in front of him. Did Kang's plan also possibly involve him getting killed by Sylvie? Hear me out: We don't actually know if the Kang we saw in episode 6 is the actual 'nice' Kang and not one of his evil variants. He has already talked about 'reincarnation', so who says that after ending the first universial war, Kang didn't reincarnate into someone with an unpure heart (aka, one of his evil variants)? That'd mean that the real Kang would have been killed and the Kang we've seen in the finale is actually an evil version that simply lied to both Loki and Sylvie. Besides that, we also don't know if Kang actually had that 'point' where he didn't know what would happen next. The show revolves a whole lot around trust, not only regarding the characters, but also the viewers. Who's to say that Kang said the truth? Maybe he planned it all out: He created the TVA, let Sylvie get kidnapped and therefore give her a reason to hunt after Kang, who in return could reincarnate if he got killed OR get killed and therefore give his other variants a possibility to conquer the universes yet again. Don't you think that it was kinda suspicious that Sylvie escaped so easily out of Renslayer's hands? The one person who's probably closest to Kang? (Even though, yes, she doesn't know who he is but Renslayer seems to play a very important role in his plan). What if the Kang we saw was the nice Kang though? Would he plan everything up to a point where another universial war would break out because he might know that there is indeed something/someone out there who could end it and therefore, possibly end Kang as a whole or create a new kind of system revolving around the universe? And therefore, get rid of the possibility of another universial war happening? Who knows. I am definitely overthinking and reaching at this point. One more thing that stood out to me while thinking about the episode again today (which kinda weighs more into my theory of Sylvie being a keypoint (or rather a puppet) in this plan): Kang has talked about his Tempad and that he knew that he would need it to have enough energy. But for what? Yes, his initial idea was to give it to Loki and Sylvie to rule over the TVA, but what if it was supposed to be used for another reason? Sylvie used it to transport Loki back to the TVA (though I kinda think he was accidentally transported to another timeline, hence the reactions of both Mobius and Hunter B-15) and therefore get rid of the only thing that could prevent Sylvie from killing Kang. The Tempad was used to secure Sylvie's path and therefore eradicated Kang's only option of safety. You can see the Tempad loosing it's glow after Kang was killed, possibly due to Kang himself being the origin of it's energy. But maybe, it only had enough energy for one specific action: getting rid of Kang's protection. I do think that Sylvie is now stuck at this place and somehow has to find a way back to Loki's reality. The Tempad clearly doesn't work anymore (at least in my opinion) and there was quite a long shot showing the Tempad up close, which is kinda suspicious tbh. Also, something regarding Sylvie's unanswered nexus event feels kinda odd to me, too.
My theory in conclusion: Sylvie (and Loki) are unconciously helping Kang with his plan (a big, big, BIG plan). They're his puppets, especially Sylvie, because she's the one who created the Multiverse to begin with. Think about Loki, who was said to be manipulated by Thanos in Avengers? It's basically the same train of thoughts.
Sylvie does not take Kang's offer into consideration
To be honest, this was something to be absolutely expected of her. Sylvie was kidnapped as a child, taken away from her home and family, and had to grow up in countless apocalypses where she could never form a real bond with anybody because she knew that those people were all going to die anyway. (Please don't judge me if I got that wrong, maybe I understood the next thing wrong? Idk, if so, I'm very sorry) She revealed that she was kidnapped way before Loki was even born (something I have to think about, too, because, if Loki is the actual Loki the other variants are based off, why did he exist after Sylvie? Wouldn't that make him a variant of Sylvie instead? Idk timelines and parallel universes are hard to understand for me :') I'm kinda stoopid ), therefore she must've had spent several decades of her life running away. She had no life at all. Her only goal was to bring down the TVA and whoever is behind it, driven by pure rage, seeking out revenge for stealing her life and basically forbidding her existence. And now that she has found said person, the only thing that'd be right for her character would be to go for the kill. As immoral as it may sound, it is the only thing that makes sense. And I am actually very happy that Sylvie's goals didn't change besides the fact that she did indeed soften up a little and has gotten someone really close to her. In contrary, it makes sense for Loki to do the exact opposite. His goals have changed. He does not act the way he did in Thor or Avengers anymore. He has found another goal for himself: to make Sylvie feel alright. He has had immense character growth and didn't take a chance to change his goals back in the Thor movies or in Avengers, (....maybe later in Thor: Ragnarok, kinda). This is exactly what I think might happen to Sylvie, too. She is at the beginning of her character arc. She doesn't take the chance to change her goal, but goes for her original goal instead. Said goal does not really have positive consequences (though, maybe it might have some? We're about to find out), which results in a so called 'negative character development', which Loki has already gone through. I think that Sylvie is gonna grow as a character in season 2 and get a positive character development in addition, just like Loki did. I highly doubt that she's gonna become the antagonist, it does not make sense at this point.
Why does she not take Kang's offer (besides her very obvious intention ofc)? That leads straight (or not so straight, pun intended) to the next thing I wanna talk about. Sylvie's distrust in everything and everyone. Besides not wanting to let other people go through what she has been gone through and wanting to let people have a free will, she also does not trust Kang with his offer of 'ruling' the timeline. And it might be because she also does not trust the one she'd be ruling with: Loki.
Why does Sylvie not trust Loki?
I don't even have a specific answer to that, except that Sylvie has an incredibly thick wall built up around her. Loki has always been portrayed as the one you should not trust because he's known for backstabbing people. Loki could have thought the same about Sylvie, but he didn't. Due to his character arc, he himself has learned to trust other people and tries to redeem himself with making himself a person others can trust (He may project that onto Sylvie, meaning that he puts his trust into a Loki variant and therefore in himself, too). You can connect that fact with both Sylvie and Mobius. They're both people who are incredibly important to Loki. He wants them to trust him. He openly told Sylvie about his mistakes and tells her that he's not that person anymore. Sylvie on the other hand does not trust that easily and is - in my opinion - a very important key regarding Loki's character development. It is incredibly hard for Sylvie to trust others (probably due to her trauma) and it therefore creates a very difficult situation for Loki, where he has to 'prove' himself as trustworthy. It's basically about 'trusting yourself' if you put it that way. It's something Loki has to learn about himself: not betraying the trust of others. Sylvie might have to learn something like this, too: learning to trust someone else. It's kinda like a two sided coin - one side is about putting trust in others, whereas the other is about gaining trust from others (and what you do with it). (Good) Relationships in general are always based off trust and honesty. So in order for them to be able to have healthy relationships with others and themselves, they have to learn about trust within themselves (I hope you understand my point, I got carried away, sorry). Loki started to trust Sylvie very easily (maybe because of love? Maybe because of something else? There are still a lot of unanswered questions) whereas Sylvie doesn't trust Loki very easily. Sylvie's character arc might (hopefully) carry on with this topic in the next season.
Was that kiss initiated due to emotional or practical reasons?
Kinda both, somehow. I do think that Sylvie used the kiss to her advantage but you can also clearly see how moved she is while hearing Loki's words. Facial expressions are insanely important when it comes to acting and both Tom and Sophia delivered perfectly. You might've already heard of the quote "The eyes tell more than words could ever say". Look at Sylvie's face when Loki tells her that he wants her to be okay. She is teary eyed, sighs even. She is indeed touched by his words and I strongly think that Sylvie also has non-platonic feelings for Loki, despite barely showing anything.
Here's a snippet out of an interview with Sophia:
Tumblr media
(Source)
Both Sylvie and Loki are said to be people who can not trust others. They both have a vulnerable side though. Loki clearly showed that several times when with Sylvie (singing to her, the blanket scene, the comfort scene in the room of the timekeepers, the confession of wanting her to be okay) and is also shown incredibly vulnerable at the end of episode 6: there are several shots showing him, crying. Sure, we have already seen Loki cry a few times beforehand but this time, it's different. He cries because the one person he is the most vulnerable with doesn't trust him, and that does hurt like hell. By the way, if you look at the close-up shot of Sylvie after she yeeted Loki back into the TVA, you can see pain in her eyes, too. But that pain quickly shifts into rage and determination. Something that I have to admit was incredibly well executed by Sophia and the people who directed this shot. Sylvie does show her vulnerable side for a brief moment before putting up her walls again and reaching for her goal.
In conclusion: I think Sylvie initiated the kiss as an emotional response to Loki's words but also used it to distract him to be able to kick him back into the TVA at the same time. Keep in mind that it was because he was in her way of fullfilling her goal. She didn't want to kill or hurt him, so she sent him away instead. So, yes, I think the kiss had both emotional and practical intentions.
Did Sylvie betray Loki?
Even though it really felt like she betrayed him, she didn't. Let me tell you why:
Loki knew exactly what Sylvie was gonna do after reaching the person behind the TVA. Loki supported her all the way up until Kang suggested a deal to them, that's where Loki's and Sylvie's paths divided. Loki is a very smart character, he outsmarts a lot of Marvel characters and therefore I think it's very in character for him to consider one part of the deal and outweigh the pros and cons. Not because he wants the throne, no, but because he wants Sylvie to be okay. A universial war could lead to countless casualties - possibly those people close around him, so of course he would want to keep her safe through that decision. Making them both rulers over the TVA and the sacred timeline would probably guarantee a strong protection from several threats. Also, maybe he thought about the possibility of Sylvie regretting her decision (which she clearly did in the end) and wanted to protect her from even more emotional pain. But as we know, Sylvie's intention has always been laid out in front of her and it didn't change. Loki knew what choice she was going to make and merely tried to change her way - without being successfull.
I don't really know what to think about this scene though. To me, it doesn't meet the requirements of a 'betrayal' but at the same time it does feel like one. It's very difficult to explain :'D
Also, I've seen some people asking themselves how or if Loki will ever be able to forgive Sylvie for making her decision. Let me assure you one thing: he will forgive her. He has said it himself: "I know what you're feeling, I know what you're going through". He has been at Sylvie's point, too. Not only once, but several times already. He seems to have learned from his mistakes, Sylvie has yet to do so. ("I betrayed everyone I've ever loved" is a line to keep in mind now, too. Maybe it could even be projected onto Sylvie this time, because Loki is indeed very dear to her) If there's someone out there who can empathise with Sylvie the most, it is Loki.
Why would Sylvie straight up cause another Universial War?
As I already said. Sylvie's arc is a negative character arc. It does not end well and causes a lot of chaos. Think about Peter Quill in Infinity War and his rage moment on Titan. They could have had the infinity gauntlet way before but Peter got emotional (understandable) and therefore destroyed the chance of an early good ending. The same happened with Sylvie. Her decision was mostly emotional, but also practical on the other hand (giving people free will and freedom). She will face the consequences and I'm pretty sure she's gonna redeem herself and tries to help fix the big mess she has caused.
Sylvie's breakdown
Another scene that was absolutely brilliant was the scene after Sylvie has killed Kang. She backs off slowly and then slumps to the ground, breathing heavily (now that I think about it, I think she even started to cry). She has waited for this moment her whole life, but now that it's done, it kinda feels like she didn't exactly get what she needed. Hunter B-15 has already mentioned it before that Sylvie needs to hunt the person behind the TVA down, unlike Renslayer, who only wants to find out who it really is. Although Sylvie might have recognized that this wasn't everything she needed at this point. We already got to know that she didn't have a clue what to do after she's done with the TVA. She didn't have a goal beyond that. And now that she has reached the point where she is clueless, she might have recognized what she really needed beyond finishing her goal: friends, a life, literally anything that doesn't make her feel alone. And she literally just kicked that one thing away from her. Loki, the one person who has been closest to her and gave her the feeling of not being alone anymore, the feeling of having a friend (or someone more than a friend), has been pushed away by herself. I think that in this exact moment where she sinks to the ground she recognizes that not trusting Loki was a mistake this time and that revenge isn't enough to satisfy her forever.
But maybe that one thing that will satisfy her for a long time is something she's returning back to in season 2. I am so excited to see her again and find out more about Sylvie's character!
Thank you so much for reading this! If you want to add something to this list or correct something or anything, feel free to do so. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Sylvie's character in the finale and what you think might happen with her in season 2 :) see y'all, stay safe and have a nice day/night!

Inside Jokes and References in the Full Bios
Tumblr media
Mainly for @spacelizardtrashboys and @kuruumiya
Also: Any time strikethrough text is used it's because it's meant to be secret information, for example on the small bios any time 'Lucifarian' truly isn't their last name their is strikethrough test after saying that it's not their real name. This is to say that no matter what is written or if it's strikethrough text or not, it is there for a reason.
Damien - Bio In-Jokes and References:
The Quote for him refers back to his 'King of Hell' gimmick, as does his middle name, Rex means king.
He's protective, like a dad, but also way too overprotective over the gimmicks for the girls. He's an old, old school guy so he enjoys card games with the boys.
He's supposed to sound like a young Hugh Laurie, mainly because if I heard a young Hugh Laurie say Damien's bio quote I wouldn't be able to take him seriously.
His main finisher (Seventh Circle) refers back to (a) him being the king of hell and (b) the seventh circle is for violence, and well, he's a wrestler, that's a pretty violent job.
He calls fans both 'peasants' and his 'loyal subjects' because he's like an asshole-ish king who'd quickly be dethroned if they rebelled.
Vickie - Bio In-Jokes and References:
The Quote for her refers back to her gimmick along with the old saying 'pride comes before the fall'.
She's called 'Victoria' because of both (a) it meaning victory and (b) the fact that Queen Victoria ruled back when Britain had an empire, then the empire fell (as in pride [Vickie] before a fall)
Both Her and Damien are born in August and are the only two to share a birth month as they are Father and Daughter (non-kayfabe, as in they share DNA)
She's raised Christian as back when she was growing up England was a lot more Christian than when she became an adult so she got lax in her beliefs
Her personality is supposed to make her come across as a vain, rich, arse of a person, yet deep down she's still redeemable, she's got a long way to go before she actually redeems herself though
She's the type of person who makes sure EVERY little detail of her matches and promos are PERFECT to the point that she will control what other people do or say, down to the moment it's said/done and the way it's said/done
She only likes the other D.O.D (Daughters of Darkness) members because she has only made enemies in the short while they've been in the company, she especially dislikes George 'The Animal' Steele because of his very messy style going against her 'everything should be perfect' views
She's the leader, the brain and the mouth because of her control over the group, if she let them have more control, there might be less arguments about her amount of control
Her named moves are also references to both her gimmick and other things. Beheader is named because of the Tudor monarchs of England having kind of a thing for killing people in this way (ex. Henry VIII).
Lineage Ender is named that because if she ever botches that one specific move (it'll make sense in context/ she does it during a training scene) it could end either her own Lineage or the person she's doing it to.
Lion's den is called that because she traps them in a near-inescapable crucifix pin, and normally if someone goes into a den of Lions, they aren't escaping in one piece.
Family Pride is named that because not only is her gimmick the sin of pride, but she's got pride in her family and she's her dad's 'pride and joy' because she's his only child.
Wish for this (her main finishing move) is called that because it's an inside joke of "you're gonna 'wish for this' to be over soon"
As she's Damien's blood daughter, a 'prodigal son' joke seemed somewhat appropriate.
Billie - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is a reference to the Guerreros and the whole 'Latin lover' trope
She was born in February because of Valentine's day, hence why her birthday is two days before the 14th
She's 1/2 Cuban (just in general - both Mexican and Cuban culture is interesting to me) But she's 1/2 Cuban in case I ever need to write for Razor Ramon, I can get away with making the joke of 'my Cuban accent's better than yours'.
Her casual style is 'Suggestive' because how else is Lust supposed to dress.
She dislikes Hulk Hogan because she finds him incredibly annoying and she dislikes Jesse Ventura because she dislikes his fashion choices.
I imagine her uncle Hugo looks like Luis Guzman and her dad's like Raul Julia. Try to imagine those two wrestling as a luchador tag team.
Her mother was basically a valet to her dad, which was usually Billie's role before she was part of the D.O.D.
Her move name references are all song references: Love me Tender - Elvis' song of the same name, Personal Aphrodite - a reference to / joke on 'Personal Jesus', Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye's song of the same name.
Also, I hope to eventually use the joke 'The Babe, the babe with the power,' 'What power?' 'Power of voodoo' 'Who do?' 'You do' 'Do what?' 'Remind me of the babe' because of one of her commentary nicknames being 'The Babe'
P.G - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is in reference to her being greed and (right at the start of the story) her thoughts on money actually being able to buy her happiness
her surname 'Voronin' means crow, and well, crows like shiny things, like money
she wears 'fancy but simple' clothing because if she bought designer clothes she'd be in debt, but she still wants to look like she has more money than everyone else
she's cowardly in a Jimmy Hart way, she'll piss someone off during a promo and run away once she feels like she's in danger
she's a showman because she's more show than work, meaning she works exceptionally quick matches.
Her moves are basically jokes on the fact that she is greed, such as Gold-digger and Diamond Ring. However, Money Maker is also a joke on the fact that it's a facebuster and usually an actor's face is called their 'money maker'
She hates Hulk Hogan and Sgt slaughter because of how patriotic they are
Kirby - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is a reference to (a) the fact that she's Gluttony, (b) her being the only one who wears a mask constantly and (c) her basically being the group's scare tactic against people who think they can push them around.
I am planning on eventually making her a part of the machines, maybe as a valet, maybe as a wrestler, not 100% sure as of right now
Her mother is the Norwegian-Scottish one and her father is the Irish-Welsh one
She is the tallest (not the heaviest, that's Damien) but she's still 9 inches shorter than André.
She's willing to bleed hardway, but hates blading
She hates Big John Studd because of his disrespect, she hates Hulk Hogan because she thinks he's obnoxiously 'American', she dislikes Lord Alfred Hayes and Dynamite Kid because they are so insistent on calling her '1/4 Icelandic' whenever she talks about being 1/4 Norwegian. She hates Brutus Beefcake because he's just 'so, so much' energy-wise.
She's always been tall, always shorter than André though, she was 5'6" when she was 12, which is still taller than Sam, P.G and Eli.
Kirby's the best at using folk tales and mythology references in her promos and still keeping them dark and scary.
Her speaking voice is Jessica Hynes, but I imagine her singing voice (which will be important later) to be that of Deee-lite's Lady Miss Kier. On that note, I will be putting up a post on this part of the fic's canon.
Feeding Frenzy is meant to look similar to Roddy's wild punches, hence the 'frenzy' part of the name.
Organ grinder is named because it's meant to look really hard (like she's putting all her force and weight into it) as if she's grinding her opponents organs
Hungry for Blood is an in-joke of during her toughest matches she seems hungry to give the fans the sight of blood
Consummation is a joke of 'the match will soon be over, the match will soon be concluded, or consummated' not the sex-based meaning of that word.
Number of the beast, which is 666, is a reference to the 619, and is a modified 619 basically.
Vampire's Bite is a reference to her sitout jawbreaker looking like she could possibly bite someone's neck, like a vampire, as she performs the move
I didn't want to call her chops, chops, so I made a joke of 'oh it's chopping, like a butcher's knife'
Overfeeding is another basic gluttony reference. Cheshire Grin is a facelock-based joke. Let Them Eat Cake is a butt=cake joke
The ogress is a thinly-veiled way of the commentary team calling her ugly, because why else would she be the only one in a mask
Holly - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is written that way because I always wanted her to sound like she comes from New Jersey
She's very cuddly towards the rest of the D.O.D and thus gets called a teddy bear by the others
She's Pansexual because she doesn't care what your gender is, she loves people just being themselves
She's the only ginger because I've never seen a ginger wrestler from New Jersey
She was raised Catholic but lost her faith upon realising how bad gay people are treated by the church (Holly literally just goes "Y'all it is 1984, how are y'all gonna reject people based on who they love?")
Holly's very much the person who'll ask permission to cut a promo on someone but won't tell them how harsh she's going to be
She's the group's mom friend (mum friend?)
Before she started travelling with another member of the group (Holly travels with Sam a lot) she would accidentally no-show events
She does accidentally give incredibly stiff shots
Holly likes Gorilla Monsoon because their friendship is very much a weird pseudo-dad-daughter friendship, so basically, she's using him as her new dad
Her voice is Angie Harmon because I think Harmon sounds like a badass from New Jersey
Naptime, Dirt Nap and Lullaby are jokes of 'I'm gonna knock you out'
Eli - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is a joke of 'this is why she doesn't do a lot of promos'
She's the most likely to be on one of those 'too hot for TV' blooper reels from her promos
Both she and Sam hate people taller than them
Sam - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is a reference to the fact that her tattoos are her 'masterpiece'
she dresses athletically because she's always ready for a fight, especially because she's usually the one picking fights
She likes Lou because he's like a crazy uncle to her and she likes George Steele because, unlike Vickie, she likes the wild man side of his gimmick
She's voiced by Melissa Etheridge because she's still feminine but is the most masculine sounding

Y/N would say that one of the perks of her job was getting out of the office from time to time. Sometimes a case required anything from a simple home interview to speaking to several family members over a number of days. She relished in the peace working away from inboxes and water cooler talk however, every once in a while she could find the same serenity in the uniform walls of her employment building. Today was one of those very days. Today she sat at her desk, alone, long past her colleagues' departure at five pm. The overhead lights were off and Y/N, whose fingers sped over the keyboard urgently, was lit only by the cool glow of her screen.
“It’s not super peaceful when you won’t shut up.” As much as you fought becoming complacent to the voice in all honesty you were glad to have her back in some small way. You hadn’t heard her for days now, not since you started reading Supernatural. It’s only now that you’d finished, she was back to her usual tricks. Some ridiculous ten-minute lecture about you waking up late for work was your reunion this morning. While it was true that you were very late for work today—two hours to be precise—she didn’t once mention that it was because of your late-night finishing off Swan Song.
That wasn’t too concerning. The voice ignoring your reading habits was minor in comparison to her being back at all. Her return meant your aneurysm hadn't been temporary and you were closer to one of two things. Solving the mystery of why Maggie Hall’s file was so important, or dying.
Obviously, option number one was preferable.
After an entire day of her, you have fallen completely into accepting that she's not going away anytime soon. For the most part, you have let her harp on like she’s looking for a book deal but now that you’re alone and trying to concentrate, you find yourself responding to her. For your own satisfaction of answering back.
She was feeling productive. Each word she wrote punctuated by the precise click of her fingers on the keyboard. A familiar sense of achievement swelled within her chest as she began to summarise her decision on the claim. Summaries are nothing more than detailed endings, which is why Y/N was particularly excited to be writing this one. More so than any other claim she had finished up before.
An ending was exactly what she was hoping for. The unusual situations she had found herself in over the last few days were too messy for even her to organize. Tangled up like a ball of string after being batted around by a cat. Logically then she was focusing on the only thing that made sense, tie up one loose end and the others would right themselves. Finish this piece of work and maybe she'd live.
How unfortunate then for Y/N that the universe did not look kindly upon her attempts to be orderly. How utterly unlucky that she had not guessed any of the answers correctly. Today was not fated to hold any happy endings for her. Not the closing of file twenty-four zero one, nor the reasonable explanations she had been searching for.
Your fingers stutter to a stop. What the hell does she mean you weren’t closing this claim? You are ten minutes of proofreading away from pressing submit, you had stayed late to finish. At this point, it would take an act of God himself to stop you.
That’s when you see a flash of light coming from reception. Flash is vague. A beam of light might be a better description, as in, the kind of beam emitted by a flashlight. Wait, there are two flashlights now. Oh shit.
Suddenly you taste bile in your throat and your hands are clammy enough to be sticky. The voice said this case would kill you and now you’re sitting here working late, and she’s saying you weren’t going to close it and… and… is it going to happen now? You’d assumed it was something in the file that killed you but you’d also assumed you had more time. Really, truly, this could be it. Imminent death means about to happen, not will happen when it’s convenient for you. This is it, isn’t it? You’re about to be accidentally murdered in an office robbery because you stayed to work late. On that particular file.
She was not prepared to die. Not while there still wasn’t a grey hair on her head or while she hadn’t been to the Grand Canyon. Y/N had no preparations for the end.
No. Not now. It couldn’t be.
She had no will, no funeral plans, and no video message to her family about a series of clues leading to a great treasure. And on Wednesday night, early June with spring barely making way for summer was the last possible moment she would ever expect to meet her maker.
You want to hide but it’s impossible. Hiding would require you to have some control over your body. An impossible feat, while you're listening with bated breath to what you assume, is your last paragraph.
Obviously, Y/N would not be dying tonight.
“Are you joking? How is that obvious?” You whisper into the dark, edging into frustration. Barely enjoying the relief of not dying when your narrator is toying with you.
She still had a new life to begin. One which began and ended with two men that had left as quickly as she'd met them. Fate has a perverted sense of humor and had chosen to push her forward into the unknown. This is why these important men were breaking into her office at precisely that moment.
The footsteps of the intruders get closer. You don’t have a direct view of reception but you’d seen the flashlights on account of it being dark in here. They sound like they're near reception, maybe twenty seconds from coming in. Once they’re in the main part of the office then all they’d have to do is turn a little to their left and they’d spot you. In the corner hanging out.
But it’s the guys breaking in? The cosplayers. They’re the wannabe Winchester’s who have turned to robbery to get their kicks?
You don’t know if it's actually them, not really. Not until they do take those last steps into the room but you hear them before you see them.
“Remind me why you haven't done some nerd computer thing to get this?”
“I already tried, remember? Their system says it’s still in process so none of the details are on their servers yet. And since we need to find out where the money went…”
“... we need to get the physical file. Got it.” Mystery man number one sighs before he continues, “S’no fun killing a monster if you don’t have to work for it.”
A monster? It’s almost impressive how much these guys committed to whatever insane game they're playing. Almost being the keyword. These guys were genuinely crazy, and that was coming from someone with an unexplainable voice in her head.
Y/N finally overcame the initial wave of fear that had hit her when the flashlights had cut through the darkness. She reached up and shut off the monitor on her desk, the last thing that had been lighting her up like a Christmas tree. Her laptop was still running in its dock, she had no intention of losing all her work. She only wanted to lose herself, hide, snuffing out the screen, and rolling her chair backward seemed to do the trick. She felt safer already. Her heartbeat returning to something akin to its normal steady rhythm now that she was cloaked in darkness. As soon as they were distracted she might even be able to risk slinking to the floor and hiding below her desk. It wasn’t a risk she was willing to take right now though, while they were still on high alert having just arrived.
You’re grateful that the voice is playing ball and giving you some useful information. It’s completely new, having so far only heard ominous foreshadowing and cryptic introductions, but it’s nice. Dare you say it, fun. For once in this whole ordeal, you actually feel like you’re in a story while you do exactly what she says. You sneak the smallest smile when you see their large shadows, finally step into the office. This might be where you have some luck on your side.
“You check out the desks, I’ll go find the filing cabinets.” It’s pretty hard to make out with their backs to you but you’d wager it was the taller shadow that said that.
The same bigger shadow starts walking towards the back of the office. He doesn’t know he’s heading towards the break room, although he probably thinks he has all night to figure it out. He can have all the time he wants as soon as you’re under your desk. Once you’re properly out of the way you look forward to not interrupting them as a stupid person might. You were perfectly ok with not being a hero.
Of course, she was not accustomed to the cat and mouse game of breaking and entering. Y/N was not used to dark corners and darker rooms. And since she hadn’t used one since the last time her power went out, she seemed to have forgotten how flashlights worked as well.
“What?” you splutter. Faith in the voice shattered in an instant.
In the next second, you’re blinded by a light in your eyes, you reach up to block it out but as you do his voice booms out. “Sam! We got company.”
The tall guy comes running and now there are two lights in your face.
“Do you think we could not blind me?” They start lowering their flashlights when the other shoe drops, “wait, Sam? You-you’re using the names too?” It shouldn’t shock you, they’re driving the car and wearing the flannel clearly, they’re adopting the names too. But until now you’d been able to compartmentalize the books you’d read and the men that drove around in a car with the Winchesters fictional license plate.
Coming face to face with them she feels completely different now. The territory is hers; her office, her desk, her mug with her name on. The problem; this was not her game, it was theirs. Y/N was simply working late whereas they were more adept at the after-hours version of this story. She might think they were delusional but this wasn’t the first crime she had them on the hook for. She could only imagine the hundreds, if not thousands, of other illegal activities they had gotten away with, all to play pretend.
“Nobody was supposed to be here.” The guy pretending to be Sam says to the guy who you can only imagine is pretending to be Dean.
“Well, there she is anyway.” Wannabe Dean huffs, both angry and disappointed at the same time. “But hey, maybe this can speed everything along, no more looking around in the dark at least.”
They’re both very good at talking about you while simultaneously ignoring you. Neither of them even flinch when you get up out of your chair and walk over to the light switch.
The room flooded with light like any room would when a switch is flipped, however, this wasn’t any kitchen light switch. The office is a large space and the fluorescents required to illuminate it are industrial. It’s enough to pain anyone's eyes with how sharply their pupils contract. Unless you are the one pressing the switch in the first place. It was Y/N’s hand flipping the four switches required and so her eyes were closed in preparation. However the mystery men had been seconds from bickering so they jerk their heads as if trying to escape the inescapable, like it's the first time they've ever seen anything so bright. Y/N felt wholly better with the heat on her closed eyelids. Because she knew when she opened them the office would hers again, the control would be hers.
When you dare to look they both whip their heads to you, shocked that you’ve moved. You’ve managed to find an ounce of confidence in the light, or if you believe the voice in your head, a whole gallon. “I don’t know what game you’re playing pretending to be people, first at the house and now this. I didn’t tell anyone about this,” you motion a hand at where they're standing, “clearly that was my mistake. So, uh-just get out of here and I won’t say anything else about it.”
“Sweetheart, we ain’t playing games here and we ain’t leaving.”
He steps towards you, a finger pointing to the floor to reiterate that he’s staying put. You wrongly assumed this would be as easy as it had been at Mrs. Halls when they'd run so quickly, forgetting that you'd had an audience there.
“You are if you don’t want me to call down to security. I’m sure the cops would love a case like this—there’s an eyewitness!”
Y/N would never in a million years be able to describe where the sudden anger that consumed her had come from. She was hardly an agitated person. She could be sad or sarcastic, she’d been known to give a measured but scathing comeback and some would even call her curious. That’s not to say she’d never been angry, she had, but anger was never the first thing she chose to be, or feel. It was always such a demanding emotion. So, then this agitation was almost foreign to her and the way it forced her hand, more so.
“Maybe we should…” Not Sam starts before he’s interrupted.
“No Sam. We need that file if we’re going to stop this thing and right now this is our only option.” He points at you now signaling that you are the ‘this’ part of his sentence; their only option.
In another life, she might have rolled over rather than stare down the barrel of this argument. She might have seen the opportunity to get rid of them by giving them something small, like say confidential information, and done it without question. This was not her old life, nor the old Y/N. This was the new life she hadn’t realized was starting. The funny thing was she hadn’t needed to know. All she’d needed was this man in front of her to force her into a rage and as if by magic, she had begun to transform.
You push past fake Dean to make your way back to your desk, “that’s not happening. All client information is property of First National which means it isn’t mine to give. Not to mention the fact that you didn’t say please.”
Her shoulder connects with his and it's the exact moment she realizes how close he was standing to her. He realizes the same. He’s close enough to grab her and spin her around but Y/N's body shudders tellingly with his fingers pressing into the flesh of her forearm.
“I don’t know what kind of power trip you think you're on but..." He grits through his teeth still holding you.
“Dean, can you calm down?”
The breaking point of your anger turns into a sardonic laugh aimed at him. “You too?” You pull your arm away and get back to your chair. “I can’t get normal criminals breaking in while I’m working late? It has to be two weirdos running around pretending to be the Winchesters.”
It’s clear immediately that you’ve said something neither of them was expecting. You’re sitting at your desk waiting for one of them to stop you from picking up the phone, while they don’t seem to even notice your hand is on the receiver.
“How do you know that? I mean, how do you know about us?” The tall guy that you refuse to call Sam, even in your head, asks.
Two pairs of eyes bore into you waiting for an answer and for some reason your hand goes lax on the phone. “I ran your plate from outside Mrs. Halls because you don’t work with me. And I found these books but I mean, why are you even driving around with fake plates from some books anyway?”
It was a simple question that you were hoping had a simple answer, you know, fanboys or something. Instead of any answer at all, they start having one of those lovely conversations that excludes your existence, again.
“Goddamn son of a bitch, we’ve got to get rid of those things.”
“Charlie said there’s no point now they’re online. How would we even start? Great example right here.”
“So what? We just roll over and die?”
Tall guy, not Sam, takes a reassuring step to fake Dean which means he takes a step away from you and your desk. “This might be a good thing ok, if she knows she can help us track it.”
You refuse to believe it because it’s ridiculous. Those books are works of fiction and there’s no possible way they are real. Because if the books are true then that means monsters are… nope. You live alone so there’s definitely no way. But you should clarify. Even if it’s a thousand percent the most ridiculous thing you have ever heard, you should still double-check.
“Are you trying to say that you’re actually Sam and Dean? Like, you think you’re Sam and Dean from the books?”
It’s scarily-similar-to-the-description-of-Dean who leans in with both hands flat on your desk and growls. “Honey, we don’t think okay, we are them. I’m Dean and this is Sam, and those books you decided to read? Yeah, they’re about us.”
“But that means monsters are…”
“Real. Monsters, angels, and everything between.”
She may not have known about the ticking clock already counting down the remaining seconds of her young life. She may mistakenly have thought that her newfound temper was the reason for her flushed cheeks. She did know one thing for sure. One completely life-changing fact with absolute certainty, because that fact was staring at her with more intensity than she'd ever known. A man named Dean Winchester just told her that every terrifying monster she could imagine was real.
The voice in your head, unfortunately, had not been wrong yet.

How did Jean cope with having a kill count in the teens when SHE was just in the teens? Her ultimate, does it affect her squad or the squad of whomever she's targeting? If it DOES affect her squad - does she tell them beforehand 'hey y'all are about to be nakey' or does it just. happen. What's the fallout like for her at that point? Has she won a Game yet? If not, what do you think she'd do with the resultant fame of becoming a Champion?
Tumblr media
Coping
Oh she didn’t handle it well at all at the start, and absolutely thought about turning herself in a million times before coming to terms with her actions. The very first time she killed someone, she actually disappeared for a week or two to try and gather herself again (primarily to stop her shaking enough to where she could operate normal enough to keep going. It just took longer than she thought it would).
To try and cope with the fact that her kill count just kept rising after the initial one, she would often find justifications for all of them since?? Who could she really go to about it?
Her family’s proven themselves as no one to turn to.The people she worked with/for would take it as weakness and potentially get rid of her when she needed the money she was bringing in to help keep the lights on and food on the table. And she was terrified of ratting them out since she knew that if she did, she’d be dead in the next week, so that was off the table.Even those she believed she could trust in some vague sense of the word seemed like the wrong choice to have this discussion with (primarily because she cared about what they thought, and just. Couldn’t handle the disappointment she knew they would have). In her defense; She was still only practically a kid at this point, and one who was panicked and terrified and didn’t think everything out completely because of it, and already had a view point that told her to keep with the trope-y Don’t show ANY weakness or you’re fucking dead.
Anyway, her justifications always tended to fall into the argument that it was either her or them, and she just chose herself. They would have done the same, so there’s no real reason to feel terrible about it (though for the first year or so she wanted to puke after every murder and fight that ended with cold bodies and try to skin herself to get rid of the feeling). It was always her or them, and that was it. She was defending herself. If they didn’t want the chance of getting murdered, they should have stayed out of her way or didn’t try to pick a fight with her.
As the years pass, she eventually grew desensitized to it, and found a new way to cope; Confidence. To be as boisterous and fuck it all as possible because if she could at least fake it at first, it would come to be eventually, and I know this sounds trope-y too, but it’s just. What she did. After each fight, she held her head high, and grew a taste for it by 15 or 16 (the fighting part. The murder part is still very much just. part of the job). Started picking fights just to keep herself sharp and to make sure that she’d always come out on top. And after each one, if she managed to still be standing by the end, it was enough to affirm that this was just natural. It was just what she was good at, and she should revel in it.And eventually, it worked. Even now, she’s confident and can be boisterous and sharp, but it came with broken bones, bruises, scars, and plenty of missteps and mistakes.
But hey, at least she doesn’t feel much of anything anymore when she kills someone; It is what it is. Move on.
And the others are going under the cut because wow this got longer than I thought it would.
Ultimate
It effects her squad! Like, I have a super half-baked idea on different ways it could work, but rn the one I’m leaning to is that her detonator is rigged to tune into the same frequency as her squad’s shields, and as soon as it’s triggered, she can send their shields into fucking overdrive to the point of nearly breaking, and then the result is that the shields are drained in exchange for an aoe explosion equal to what kind of charge the shields could hold, and her squad’s ok bc the base-material of the shields act as a grounded faraday cage. Maybe a little rocked on their feet bc of the force of it being discharged, but tbh it’s less about force and more so about the current produced, so it’s all ok.
Everyone else around? Not so lucky.
And yeah, she’d give them a heads up and a countdown. Like, something along the lines of ‘It’s ready, and I’m going to set it off in 3, 2, 1-’ . And then everything goes to hell in a hand basket as coms cut off for a minute and there’s this surge of electricity around them, and good luck.
Now, she can be a jackass and a little shit, but she wouldn’t throw her squad under the bus without a heads up at least. Like, maybe if it was just her because she knows herself and what’s around her, she wouldn’t be so keen on announcing that she’s about to blow out her own shields to try and fry the enemies around her, but if there are more people involved that she has to work with, she can be a little more considerate. Like, I think her ultimate can be canceled should there be any objections in the group since she’s just prepping the detonator at the countdown.
Though of course, she doesn’t necessarily have to listen to them, but she can note it.
As for the fallout, it would really depend on how things turn out I’d think.
Like, on one hand, the explosion can be the firm push needed for them to be able to take out another squad or two and come out victorious provided that they can work well either as a team or individually without shields, so then it would be good; A very clutch decision that - for as risky as it was - proved useful and beyond helpful.
On the other, at least one fist fight has 100% broken out because of this ultimate because it cost her squad the game, and y e a h. It really depends on how well everyone works together or super well on their own or luck.
But the initial fallout was probably wild since originally, the detonator was apart of a larger machine that only disabled the enemies’ shields. Like, cut them out completely for a time to allow shots at the person beneath it, and that was the effect she thought it was going to have after testing it. Like, during her time rigging the piece she managed to get to work for her favor, she managed to discharge a shield she was using then and figured that it worked; Just had to look out for the run off since it wasn’t as clean as it was as a whole.
Something expected ya know? Like, if you pull live wires, they’re going to have some spark left in them, but their own shields should be able to handle it even at the lowest tier.
The first sign that something was wrong should have been how her teams coms started to cut in and out as the charge on the detonator reached 90%, but she figured that maybe it was just because she needed to refine it a little more and it was nothing more than white noise from it starting up.
Oh boy was she wrong. But damn if she didn’t play it off as intentional if to save face.
Winning a Game
And she played it off well because I think that she would have won her first game with that little trick because. It probably caught a lot of people off guard, but she’s one to adapt and used the opportunity to her advantage and ta-da; Won her first game and still might’ve gotten into a fist fight with her squad after depending on who was in it. Like, I think it was a bunch of random people she never really saw again but holy fuck who fucking blows out their own team’s defense to try and win a fight???? Answer being her of course but that’s besides the point
Which feels a bit cheesy to write, but? Thinking about it? She’s had years of accidental training for it; Her scavenging for things def made her more aware of her surroundings when picking out loot. Being a mercenary gave her more arms and combat training. Hoping from place to place and working in different groups gave her a chance to figure people out. Ect. Ect.
Cheesy shit like that.
From there, I’m not 100% sure how many she’s won. Depends on how many there are and how the work in universe compared to in game, but at least a handful maybe?
Now as for the fame?
Initially, she wasn’t a fan.
Especially because it was a stark, sudden transition from working under tables and out of whatever bar or ship she managed to find herself in - having to take care to make sure her identity was hidden enough to avoid detection - to being in the spotlight and it was enough to make her nauseous in a way since?? It felt like a goddamn neon sign pointing out where she is, and though she’s taken extensive precaution to keep her identity under her helmet concealed before the game (so no one really knew who was under it), it felt like everything she worked to do was just thrown out the window and she gave it up willingly in an effort to outmaneuver people after her head.
Then there were probably questions about her next game since she got to keep going since she won, and her plans for it, and it was disorienting to say the least. But the thing she hated the most about it was how she managed to tether herself to the place without meaning to since?? Honestly?? She didn’t think she would get as far she she did; Let alone win any game.
Like, already said it, but she lived day to day - present to present - and only worried about what was going on then and now and how she was going to get to the next system or planet, and this put a screeching halt to that so now she had to stop and consider what her next plan was going to be and y e a h.
Initially, not a fan.
But! As time went on, she could find some benefit in it. ie; she was able to start cleaning her slate from her time as a scavenger/mercenary since she could finally pay off those she owed without having to run. Those who knew her identity probably became weary of approaching her in any sense of the word after directly seeing what she could do if they wound up on her wrong side, so it granted her a level of protection. She had a place to safely work on things instead of having to rig things together as she moved.
There were benefits, so it loosened her up to the idea of fame, but the one thing she will always hate about it is the tethering and how she feels trapped in a sense. Like, I’m sure that the legends can’t just up and disappear for weeks at a time, or travel anywhere with relative peace. Not if the games are so widespread. And she hates the feeling of it after being on the move for over a decade.
Now, that doesn’t stop her from vanishing for a couple days under guises and shadow, but it’s not the same I’m sure.
When it comes to the more entertainment side of things, she can be charming in a jerk-ish way. Sarcastic. Sharp tongued. Ect. Like, once the initial whiplash came to pass, she probs just said ‘fuck it why not if I’m stuck here’  and since rolled with the punches and having a decent time with it though like hell she’d give a straight or honest answer to things.
Like, one thing I’ve been thinking of is her answer to ‘why did you join the games’? And among her answers would be:
“I had a midlife crisis.”“I made a bet with someone, and now they owe me a dollar.”“This is my retirement plan. No, I’m not using the pay to fund it- This is it.”
Shit like that. But yeah, she def sees it as a double edged blade and I hope this bit makes sense bc I’m like. Typing off the top of my head now because this is the longest meta I’ve written out I’m p sure lmao
EDIT: I realize that in my rambling I didn’t really properly answer as to what she would use it for, but honestly? I don’t think she would use it for more than the benefits I mentioned above since she doesn’t have a cause she’s championing for, but give her time, and maybe she’d use it to aid others where she could in little ways.
She would use any extra funds to help those on the street and in day to day life since she knows that life. Use her reputation to help break up fights she doesn’t want to see, or in a vigilante sense if she’s in the area to help protect those who could be going the same way she did before the games. Little day to day things she can be direct help in, ya know?

My first official fluff piece! Still kinda angsty, but it's cute - to a point lol
I'm so sorry. I cannot figure out how to add a read-more on this new formatting.
--------
Coming up with excuses to hang around the engine room was getting harder every day. Delivering messages for people was always an easy bet - the priest couldn't be bothered to crack his old knees on those stairs anyway - but the stupid crew on this stupid ship didn't send messages to the resident tinker very often.
She could always break stuff.  Parvati was always down to fix it, and whenever someone brought her some broken trinket, she got the cutest expression on her face - a weird mix between excitement and exasperation.  All of her shyness just completely vanished as she scolded them for being so careless with their things, revealing the true bullheaded nature behind her stammering, eager-to-please front.
But how long could she keep "accidentally" breaking her stuff before Parvati confiscated it, just like she did Felix's mechanical tossball action figure?  Not much longer, that was for damn sure.
And she couldn't just... show up and linger. What excuse would she use for that?  "It's too loud out there"? The engine room was way louder than the rest of the ship combined - even when Ellie and Vicar were screaming about philosophical bullshit in the cafeteria and Felix had his tossball match turned up to drown them out. Besides, she had soundproofed her bunk specifically to give herself a quiet space.
"I'm interested in mechanical engineering?" Ha! What a laugh. Every single person on the Unreliable knew that Nyoka didn't give two shits or a fuck less about fixing her own belongings, as long as she had the bits to pay someone else to do it.
The only option left was honesty, and let's face it: that wasn't her strong suit. She had a reputation as a badass (if constantly drunk) bounty hunter to maintain. Confessing that she enjoyed hanging out with the dorky engineer made her sound like a lovesick puppy - which she wasn't, for the fucking record. She didn't like Parvati like that. She just like getting the girl the ramble about her favorite topics, watching her face crinkle in concentration as she struggled with a complicated mechanical part, the way her face turned out a particularly off-color joke. There was no love there, and she'd sock anyone in the mouth that would even dare to suggest such a thing.
And yet, Nyoka still found herself lingering outside the cafeteria, sneaking furtive peaks at Parvati.  Look at her. Nibbling that snack cake like she's a baby sprat. God, she's so freaking adorable...  She turned away, her lip curling in a sneer of self-disgust as she took another drag from her flask. Even the rough burn of old whiskey couldn't drown the way her heart pounded against her chest.
God, what had this quiet mechanic from Edgewater done to her?
She didn't even realize that her feet had carried her into the room until she looked down and saw Parvati staring up at her. Her lips were smiling that tight-lipped smile that all polite folks gave when unexpectedly bumping into someone they barely know, but her eyes were confused, maybe even a little frightened. She hated that look. She wanted to grab the girl's shoulders and shake some common sense into her, to scream "Why are you afraid of me?! I'll kill everyone on the ship and myself if it would protect you!"
But she wasn't that dense. That would just scare the poor girl more, and the very thought of Parvati fearing her turned her stomach. Instead, Nyoka twisting her own lips into a smile and forced out, "Hey there, tinker. Didn't mean to scare you."
Parvati quickly shook her head in an obvious act of self-preservation. "Oh, not at all, Miss Nyoka! I was, um, just eating a quick snack. Got to stay fueled for the road!" She giggled awkwardly, and Nyoka wanted to wrap her arms around her and squish her tight - though whether it was to comfort her or to squeeze out the anxiety, even she couldn't say.
"With empty calories like that? You're going to burn through it and crash in an hour."  She strolled to the refrigerator, forcing herself to tame her trademark stomp to a casual strut. "What's the thing Junlei says all the time?  'Treat your body like a machine - quality fuel and plenty of rest, or you'll end up rusting like an overworked engine.'  I don't know anything about machines, but it sounds right. Here."  She tossed a small container of food to the confused girl.  "Cystipig stew. Homemade. It's something my - one of my old teammates used to make. The methane added a kick, but Boss says I'm not allowed to flood the kitchen with explosive gas."  She scoffed as she dropped into the chair across the table.  "Coward."
Parvati let out a soft laugh escape as she tentatively scooped out a spoonful of stew, and Nyoka's heart fluttered in her chest in a way that was surely heartburn and nothing else. "I can't imagine methane making anything taste better... Except maybe mantisaur. Is it true that people eat mantisaur on Monarch?"
"Only if they're really desperate. As in, 'I've already eaten the floorboards and my roommate' desperate."
Parvati's spoon hovered before her mouth as she shot Nyoka a part-horrified, part-rebuking glance. "You shouldn't joke about such horrible things. People suffer through terrible hardships - it's cruel to make fun of them."
The urge to retort was powerful. She wanted to snap back that, as someone who spent years as one of those people, she could say whatever she damn well pleased about the subject - that according to Holy Man DeSoto, making jokes about the subject was 'an ingrained coping mechanism that helped her deal with her trauma' or whatever. But - and she could not for the life of her understand why - she kept her mouth shut.
Parvati stiffened to brace herself for the inevitable backlash, but when none came, she relaxed just enough to taste the offered stew. Her eyebrows shot into her messy brow. "This is really good! You said that your former teammate made this?"
"She - created the recipe, yeah." Nyoka couldn't meet her gaze, not what the lump growing in her throat. "That's not important though. You really like it? Even without the methane?"
"It's delicious. It tastes like - oh, what was it dad used to say?" She scrunched her face as she wracked her brain, and the lump in Nyoka's throat dissolved like sugar. "Tastes like Grandma used to make. It's homey and warm, like curling up in a freshly made bed after a hard day of work." She took another bite and closed her eyes, chewing slowly as if to relish every bite. "Mm... I can see why you treasured that teammate. If her personality was anything like her food, she was a really amazing person. "
Nyoka shook her head as she gazed at Parvati, her lips twitching into a rare genuine smile. "God... You're so nice. I... I want to kiss you."
Parvati's eyes drifted open to focus on Nyoka's face. "What did you say?"
Nyoka stared back, frozen in place as her stomach clenched tightly. Oh God - what to do? She couldn't admit what she just said! But what to say?
Parvati sat up straight now, her head tilting ever-so-slightly. Her bottom lip jutted out to give her an adorably confused pout. "Nyoka?"
And now she was taking too long to respond - fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck - In a panic, Nyoka blurted out, "If you died, I wouldn't miss you!"
They both froze, staring at each other - Nyoka in horror, Parvati in confusion. As the gravity of her panic response settled upon them, Nyoka clenched her fists under the table. Her face burned with shame while Parvati's face paled beneath her dusky complexion. Tears began to collect in her amber eyes, and she turned her head down and away. "I - I see. I'm sorry for whatever I said that made you feel that way, Miss Nyoka." She pushed the chair back and stood up, her hands trembling at her side. "I'll just go."
"Parvati, no -" Nyoka reached out instinctively then snatched her hand back. "I didn't - that's not what I - God damn it!" Slamming her fists against the table, she threw her chair to the floor in her haste to get up and storm from the cafeteria.  You're not running away, she assured herself as she locked the door to her sleeping pod, longing now more than ever for the ability to slam the door with a satisfying bang.  You're taking a step back to collect yourself and figure out what you're going to say to fix this.  She punched the door and spun to slide the ground, leaning against it and feeling, for the first time in her life, like a serial character. "Fucking hell, Nyoka..." she muttered as she pinched her brow between her fingers.  "You're really in the shit this time. You and your fucking mouth... "
It took an hour and several gulps from her flask to calm her nerves and figure out exactly what she was going to say, but finally Nyoka was ready to tackle the hardest battle she'd ever had to face. Taking a deep breath (and another swig for courage), she opened her door and walked to the kitchen. It took every ounce of self-control she had to keep her body still. Treat this like capturing a raptidon, she encouraged with every step.  Don't show fear. Never show fear. You're the baddest bitch on Monarch. They make fucking serials about your adventures. You can handle apologizing to a dorky girl from a hick town.
Despite her totally awesome pep talk, she still had to pause outside the cafeteria and rest her forehead on the cool door frame.  You can do this.  Deep breath. You know exactly what you're going to say. Just go in, stay on script, and get out. No ad-libbing. You want this to be another Angeline Graves situation?  'course not. All right. Countdown. 3. 2.... 1.
Inhaling deeply, Nyoka pushed open the door and stepped inside. "Parvati, I -"
She stopped short as a sob interrupted her and allowed her blurry eyes to take in the room. Parvati slumped over the table, sobbing into the crook of her arm. "I don't understand what I did! Why -hic- did she have to be so cruel? I thought we were bonding!"
"Hey, it's not your fault," Ellie soothed, rubbing comforting circles between Parvati's shoulders. "Nyoka is a terrible person. She's probably drunk again - she's a total ass when she's drunk. Just ignore her, okay Par?" She looked up and scowled when she saw Nyoka. "What do you want?"
Nyoka couldn't respond; her tongue felt like a dead fish between her teeth. She could only stare, stunned, at Parvati's shuttering form. The realization that she had done this - her cruel words, spat in a moment of sheer panic, had reduced her shy, cheerful crush to a complete emotional wreck - drove like a dagger into her heart.
Ellie was right. What kind of absolute scumbag would do something so awful to such an absolute angel?
"Hey, dipsomaniac. Do you fucking mind?" When she still didn't answer, Ellie raised her other hand to snap her fingers impatiently. "Christ, are you that drunk? The fuck do you want?"
Nyoka finally snapped out of it. "Nothin'," she muttered, lowering her gaze to the floor. "Don't want nothin'." She grabbed two bottles of purpleberry wine and shuffled back to her room, ignoring the muttered scoffs behind her. As soon as the door was securely locked, she sank into her soft cot and popped the first cork.  "Here's to being the baddest bitch on Monarch," she whispered, the first salty tear trickling between her lips, "and the fucking worst person on the Unreliable.
Cheers."
