I spent Valentine's Day ruining patrons' nights at my restaurant by telling them our computers were down, but what can you do, you know? Other than that, February was a good time. I was able to read a lot more, and prepare a more in depth list for you, even if it's short.

Reading this felt like getting a personal tour of Budapest. The reverence the author has for the location shines through and gives you a lovely look at a new location. I find Harry exploring his sexuality abroad especially interesting- as if being somewhere else allows him a sort of freedom he wouldn't find at home. There's an appreciation for beer in this fic that I appreciate, since beer is one of life's greatest treasures. I especially loved Cho Chang being a main character in this fic. I love seeing her being utilized in such a fun way when she was done so dirty by she who shall not be named.

Some scenes can leave you feeling like you're intruding on a very personal moment as a reader. I love a Harry Potter who's a bit obsessed with Draco. ALSO, this fic contains one of the hottest wet dreams I've ever read. Do with that what you will.

Polar Night/Midnight Sun by toomuchplor E, 54.3k

Harry is very horny. Like, at times, this fic is so sexually charged it's almost unbearable. In a very good way. The clothing descriptions make me want to touch those mittens and hats so bad. I know they'd be soft and so fucking squishy. A few things this fic includes: one bed, a lack of magic, for a while, that is perfectly reasonable, and Harry's thing for Draco's teeth (they're like a military cemetery, if you even care.) Also, the sexual allure of someone struggling to get into an attic (I get it,) and Draco's daddy issues (typical but welcomed.) Diagnosis: Extensive therapy. For everyone. Even the dog. ALSO, these boys have STAMINA.

I love a good canon rewrite, and @tessacrowley has now written my two favorite fics in that genre. Their characterization of Draco is always spot-on in whatever context they put him in. Show-stopping, fantastic, wonderful.

Azul had been fascinated by the idea of soulmates as a young mer

it was something that gave him hope, that despite all the other mean mers who would make fun of him, there was someone out there who would understand him and love him

and so he kept drawing on his arm, doodles of shells and other fish that caught his eye

but there wasn't any response.

maybe his doodles were too ugly and his soulmate didn't like them?

and so he learned to draw better, drawing again and again, hoping he would get a response

but still not a single mark would appear on him

it had been a tough blow to him, but he eventually accepted that he didn't have a soulmate

if he was going to be alone for all his life, then he had to take care of himself (because nobody would)

he became super greedy and selfish, always prioritising himself and his materialistic needs

although he also had a friendship with the tweels, he really only befriended them because they could help him out (but he did get attached to them over time)

and so, he opened the mostro lounge and became the sly businessman that we all know

on the first day of his second year, as he was going over documents after closing the lounge, he felt a slight tingle in his hand

Azul's eyebrow rose in response to an unexpected sensation. A peculiar warmth, like a gentle caress, emanated from the back of his gloved hand. Intrigued, he swiftly removed his gloves, revealing smooth, pale skin. A gasp of astonishment escaped his lips as his eyes fell upon a minuscule masterpiece, a tiny, adorable octopus delicately inked in pen.

"Is this...real?" Azul murmured, his voice tinged with disbelief. A surge of hope surged through his entire being, dispelling the weight that had burdened him for far too long.

With a trembling hand, he grasped his own pen and cautiously began to sketch his own octopus upon his wrist, with one tentacle reaching out, holding hands with your octopus.

And he can't stop he smile that graces his lips when a little heart appears between the two octopi.

What a hectic day it had been! For a magicless student to arrive in NRC and for him to finally connect with his soulmate!

Oh. Azul had to speak to said magicless student as soon as possible.

when the two of you start being a couple, Azul does everything and anything for you

when you're in exams and your nervously doodling sea creatures, he'll draw some flowers nearby to help calm you down

no he doesn't help you cheat by writing you the answers, he's already given you the perfect study materials, you shoud put in some effort too

he gets jealous if you draw other sea creatures too much though, especially moray eels

he lets you work at the lounge with a very high pay, making sure you're not working too hard, and always offers to tutor you if you're struggling

his soulmate had to go to a different world just to find him, you'll be sure he helps to settle in and hopefully never leave again

Insert clingy octopus wrapping his tentacles all around you because he can't bare to let you go

when you have dates and appointments, he'll help remind you by writing on his arm

this man has waited for you his entire life, he's ready to lay the world down at your feet if you ask him to

"Draw upon the power of night to bolster your magic, bring chaos to your foes, and look absolutely adorable!"

YEEEAAAAAAAH Nekomancer 2.0 is done!! This ended up being a total impulse cosplay to procrastinate working on another costume, but he somehow ended up being one of those "everything clicks" creative projects. this cosplay was super fun and I really got to utalize a wide breadth of crafting skills. Pattern drafting, fur handling, foam smithing, sleeve+pant petticoat making, and even contrast coloring/dimensional painting! Also the sleeve and pant petticoats make this costume extremely squishy and huggable...

as you may have heard me mention I worked on most of this while very sick with covid (in fact I still had it when these photos were taken) so this was my "dont go insane" project. I've basically worked on this for 10 hrs a day since I got sick and I have to return to actual Job work tomorrow which is going to be...a transition haha.

i think my favorite part of Unsounded is how the reader slowly learns an undead mage and lion girl are just as weird in Kasslyne as they would be on earth. what's your favorite plot element so far?

I like seismic character shifts. So Sette getting all soft and squishy for Sara and Duane, and then being permanently changed by screwing up those relationships. And Duane getting his worldview upended so he seems to change too, but for the worse. I liked seeing Toma figure out how much Chea needs him, and Elka figure out how much she needs Toma. I liked Sara learning the depth of Siya's dissatisfaction with her lot in life, and trying so clumsily (and ultimately fatally) to fix it for her. I liked that fierce Rahm the Raptor was undone by a hug from his wife.

I liked Bastion's ultimate fate, though his little storyline was always very understated and in the background. After seeing Prakhuta's insanity he went from Ilganyag's scheming buttboy to an embarrassingly ineffective thirteenth hour hero. His last act was to try and get out from under her control only to fall directly under Alderode's, and implode. You got no agency, Winalils! That's pretty ironic for a necromancer!

Sette getting everything she thought she wanted, and hating it because it turns out it wasn't what she actually wanted at all... that's pretty good too. But we're still in the middle of that.

Jivi and Sette's friendship was a fun, slow burn. They liked each other immediately, right from first meeting outside the warehouse and Sette wrapping Jivi's hands. But they were two alpha personalities that clashed, always trying to get the upper hand over the other, and then coming at each other from odd, clashing angles. Matty really saved them by cluing Jivi in to how vulnerable Sette was, and then good boy Jivi saved the day by being the bigger person.

Ok so I have this classic f1 wing au spinning in my brain like a microwave and i want to share

I had so much fun reworking the entire concept of formula one to make a new sport that makes sense for wing people listen i went a bit crazy. Jet pack races. It’s jet pack races. Except they’re crazy high powered and the racers use their wings to steer, and the g forces are just as insane as they are in the cars, but more deadly since all that pressure is being put on bare, barely protected wing. The engineers are competing to make the smallest lightest jet pack and to push the fine controls, trying to get every advantage while limited by the racers soft and squishy nature when it comes to speed.

It’s the 70s so of course safety precautions are kinda pathetic, but eventually the undergarments develop to protect the neck in case of whiplash and the jet packs themselves get emergency release capabilities. I haven’t thought through the mechanism for supporting the racers wing along the length to protect from tearing when a turn is entered at the wrong angle…

Hopefully I’ll figure that out. There’s more coming, cause a couple racers just Spoke to me in regards to getting matched with certain birds.

I love how in any AP spin-off au with orca!eclipse he manages to find a way to charm y/n while in the Serpent’s Den au, y/n literally goes into the jungle and instantly gets an insane amount of Nagas all vying for their attention with varying methods.

Anyways, I saw bounty hunter naga eclipse on your size list and was wondering what his relationship with photographer y/n and his brothers would be like.

They're so similar yet entirely different takes on Magical Creatures fawning after a human and it's so much fun (not for Y/N, but you know).

I talk about BH naga Eclipse here, but to expand on that, Eclipse is enamored by Y/N but knows it's dangerous to have a very squishy human so close when he's already tempted to bruise and kill. In essence, he's torturing himself with what he wants and what he needs. He needs to be better. Y/N is the test of whether or not he will give in to what he wants to do, i.e. violence.

His inner conflict and personality don't stray too far from the OG story, and his brothers are essentially the same as SJ Eclipse's, the only difference is that BH Eclipse isn't their enemy and he wants to fix their relationship after it started deteriorating into dust but doesn't know how.

Maybe a certain photographer can help with that.

My One-Year Anniversary

One year ago today, I wrote my very first piece of House of the Dragon fanfiction.

My journey in fanfiction has been a long one. I started reading fan works all the way back in 2009 at the age of 12. I even remember the site: Harry Potter Fanfiction Archive. Wow. Wild! Of course, I naturally gravitated toward Dramione works—because that’s what you did, right? Since then, my tastes have diversified; evolved, even. Thank god.

Until I hopped onto Tumblr and started writing, I wasn’t an active member of any fan community. I was a passive lurker, hiding my enjoyment of fan works from everyone and everything. One of my favourite fandoms to read for was Game of Thrones; I particularly enjoyed the Jonsa works and any work where Daenerys claimed the Iron Throne (#JusticeForDany!). I will say that, as much as I enjoyed it, there were no characters who truly ignited my interest.

Then, House of the Dragon hit. Matt Smith’s portrayal of Daemon is just… electric. I suppose my very first thank-you is to him for bringing the character to our screens. Holy shit. Toxic, passionate, magnetic… everything I want in a fictional man! Daemon Targaryen definitely awoke something in me. I spent about a month trawling the Tumblr and AO3 feeds for Daemon x OC/ Reader works, seeking to satisfy my thirst. Daemyra is such a charismatic pairing in canon, but I could never really see myself in Rhaenyra’s shoes; she’s so forward in a way I’m not. So many of the works at that time were centred on badass powerful OCs, and I just… couldn’t relate. Thus,I officially opened my AO3 account and started a side-blog on Tumblr, posting my first work.

It was a smut piece between Daemon and a Reader-insert niece, and one of my first genuine attempts at writing smut - what is now today the second chapter of dōnus riñus (sweet girl) - and was surprised to receive positive feedback from it, given the um, dodgy themes. It spurred me to go back and write a chapter leading up to it, and then write another three chapters post-chapter 2. Then, people wanted to know how Reader and Daemon got together; I wrote gevivys (beauty) from his perspective in an absolute flurry of insanity, pushing out like a chapter a day. It all blew up - I never expected it to, and it is still incredibly surprising to me that people are wanting to read a protracted series about the shit I make these characters do! From there, ilībītsos (little slut) was underway, which was such a fun exercise in dirtybadwrong that I thoroughly enjoyed! Pretty much straight away, I continued on with ñuhus prumȳs (my heart), which I might say is my favourite instalment of the bunch due to the sheer amount of research I put into it. I'm particularly proud of that one, I must say!

Of course, this makes it sound quick. It wasn't - I have quite a busy personal life with my work, so I've not been the quickest at updating. I'm eternally fucking grateful to have an audience that completely doesn't care how often I update, so long as I'm proud of what I'm putting out at the end; I know how rare that is, and I'm absolutely boggled by you all. My squishies. I love you!

Reader has become Babey now - she has her own, like, following? IDK. It's insane to me. She doesn't even have a name, and yet there are so many people who have reached out to me to thirst over her or to talk about her or to share what she means to them. A lot of people have really resonated with the way she struggles with powerlessness and how, in some ways, she's learned to find strength for herself in a world that gives her so little opportunity to do so. I'm so incredibly glad she is a character that people can relate to. She's like my baby, my first genuine creation, and it is a privilege and honour to get to talk about her on here. I still cannot believe there are people out there willing to make art or edits or just send in asks about her. It's completely wild!

I have endless gratitude for so many people throughout the creation of this series, but we must all begin (and end) somewhere. I’d like to start by thanking my first ‘regular’, Wilma, for her enthusiasm and engagement with me as I first started on this journey. She definitely encouraged me to keep on writing. It was thrilling to wake up to another comment or ask from her about the series! If not for Wilma, I don’t think the series would’ve gotten off the ground as it has.

Thank you to my very first friend in fandom. I’ve only ever known this person as ‘Lemon’—they reached out to me when I was well and truly established during the writing of ilībītsos (little slut), helping me to conceptualise the idea for the third chapter of that instalment. They then jumped aboard as a writer, and so much of my earlier drive to write was inspired by them. If not for their messages and their companionship, I wouldn’t have begun to build the community I have now. They are still one of my fandom besties, and I love them dearly.

There are several important people I’d like to thank for being absolute superstars, and whose passion for fandom has impacted mine so greatly. Aubrey, Pancake, AQ—I’ve adored each and every comment you’ve left me, and it’s been such an incredible experience to get to know you all as people. Mage, Hannah—y’all are amazing writers and amazing human beings, and I’m so grateful to have gotten to know you. Bel, Fae, Mars, Mel, Rach—you’re groovy, and hanging out with you in Discord is the bomb-dot-com. If I'm leaving people out, my bad!

I would be remiss, of course, if I didn’t mention one particular person. We connected through a mutual friend (at the time), and eventually bonded over our love of being incredibly nasty, feral and disgusting over our love of these Targ boys. Pretty sure we speak at least every single day, and I can’t say how many times I’ve relied on her for input on a chapter or a specific plot point I’m planning. Her approval means everything to me, and so I can’t possibly go without crediting her as a major influence on this story. Ange—Angela—thank you. You’ve become one of my best friends, fandom and IRL. I absolutely love you to bits.

And, lastly, I want to thank everyone who has read my works along the way. It is still insane to me that there are people who think my writing is interesting enough to keep reading, let alone offer the outpouring of support I’ve received. It is one of the greatest parts of my day to be able to connect with others over a universe I’ve crafted, and the fact that people genuinely want to know these things just stuns me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Your encouragement means everything to me.

So, it's been one year. I'm still going, ahahaha! Here's to (hopefully) more years to come! I love you guys!

anyways! þ! aka thorn! i love it in a very abnormal way :DD

basically, both þ and another neat letter, ð (eth), were used interchangeably to write "th" as in "the" in old english. ð fell out of fashion relatively quickly (like... two centuries maybe) and we have very few if any texts with ð (sad). but that was in the 9th century and since then to basically the 14th century, þ was the only way to write the sound. so all english manuscripts from that time would use it. (one of my pet peeves around þ is people making faux manuscripts but not using any letters/abbreviations that they would use in them. and þ is not the only one of those letters. ſ (long s) is also insanely cool, and it is literally impossible to see an english text from before the beginning of 18th century without it, but i digress)

during the 14th century, people for the first time started to actually write "the" like "the" it was kinda rare, but it started appearing. but that wouldn't be enough to completely forget a whole letter, probably. it started kinda fading out in favour of scribal abbreviations (see below) and "th" but the final blow were the printing presses. first printing presses in england were actually from netherlands!! and dutch never used þ. so it became just easier to leave þ behind. (fun fact, this didn't kill ſ, which i believe faded a bit later with people being like "aight whats this then" about having two different s's being pronounced the complete same way)

but before it faded, in the 17th century, it progressively stopped looking perfectly like this -- > þ. Instead when you would look at most manuscripts from that time, it would look kinda like "y". Here i found a chart explaining how that happened:

and so over time, þe (the) started to look more and more like ye. and you can see my actual biggest pet peeve with people not knowing all of this. cuz i cant expect everyone to know about an obscure letter but its still frustrating. cuz people of that time still knew that "ye" meant "þe" and would pronounce it like "the". so whenever i see any "ye olde" whatever, it just pisses me off so much, because that's stripped of its historical context and doesnt actually make much sense. "ye" was only ever pronounced "yee" when it meant modern "you", never when it meant "the".

anyways, pet peeves aside, what is insanely interesting to me, are scribal abbreviations with thorn cuz like... theres something so humanizing in seeing people just getting lazy of writing every single letter when it is such a common word. so the ones i know :DD :

þe. not really an abbreviation but it being still used for a while as "ye" basically is and is interesting to me

þu. thou!! not really useful anymore, but like. look at it!!

þt. that :DD i have so much love for this one. itd be still useful if people just knew þ and jusy looks so professional and squishy !!! yeah

anyways thats what i know from head about þ. i love it. also writing this forced me to adjust to a third keyboard, cuz the only keyboard with þ is icelandic one! (icelandic still uses þ but rather rarely. ð on the other hand is used plenty of times). also also english is not my first language. i learnt all of this about a nonexisting languafe from my not-first language. fun!!
