Came across this exchange on Twitter and I love the idea of the Stargate/ Quantum Leap crossover in which Sam Beckett leaps into Jack O’Neill’s body (though the timelines aren’t quite right as QL was 1989-1993). If only I could write!
Ziggy and Al can’t find anything about Jack in the database, so Sam heads off to Cheyenne Mountain after finding Jack’s ID card and is very, very, surprised.
Then the rest of SG1 realise really quickly that Jack isn’t really Jack, because an alien bodysnatcher seems quite plausible, and Sam has to confess.
Carter recognises the name Dr Sam Beckett from physics academia (I’m assuming Sam Beckett published papers on the theory of time travel) so believes what he’s saying.
Or, Sam and Al search Jack’s house for clues since Ziggy can’t tell them much, and find an official photo of SG1 on his desk that has the names on the back. Ziggy can track down Daniel (archaeologist, disappeared from academia a few years ago) and Carter (also works in ‘deep space telemetry’) but has nothing on Teal’c.
Al then works out that Sam has to save Daniel and Carter because the next thing he finds is their obituaries and they wonder how archaeology or deep space telemetry can be that dangerous?
They also find a couple of photos of Carter (from nights out/ team BBQs) hidden behind the photo of SG1 and Al and Sam assume that Jack’s in love with his colleague (they’re right, of course).
Sam and Al save the day, and as Sam leaps, Al says that all of SG1 survive, Jack is promoted to General, and does marry Carter in a few years time ❤️
Or, it happens post-season 8 and Sam jumps into Jack at his desk in the Pentagon, Al still can’t find much about him (‘I’ve never heard of Homeworld Security’), then suddenly an attractive blonde Colonel walks in and starts kissing him (a throwback to those QL episodes which start with Sam being kissed). Al’s in the background and says ‘I think that’s Colonel Carter, your wife’.
Or Sam jumps into Jack in his office, is still trying to figure things out when his secretary tells him that Colonel Carter is here, and Sam as Jack says ‘Send him in’ 🤦♀️
Meanwhile, Jack is in the ‘waiting room’ and assumes he’s been abducted by aliens, which I expect many of the hosts think, but he’s the first one to start asking which alien race they are and threatening the aliens with… other aliens?

I DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE A QUANTUM LEAP FAN!?!?!?!?! Have you ever drawn any fanart you're willing to share? I've been following you for over a year because of death note, but i didn't know you also knew my best friend Sam Beckett!
Oh DUDE! I had an intense Quantum Leap moment in college. I still have Quantum Leap novels, a QL sweatshirt from my friend @allisonpregler , a QL coffee cup with Sam on it, and SEVERAL sam/al fics on my ao3. I haven’t drawn fanart but if you go in my quantum leap tag there’s definitely fanart there. Oh also:

3. What fandoms do you write for?
Primarily (and in more or less chronological order): Blake's 7, Star Trek: TOS, The Professionals, Highlander, Star Trek: tng. MASH, House, and The Fugitive (the film with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones). I have also written fanfic for MacGyver (the 1985 TV series), the West Wing, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Quantum Leap, , and various literary fandoms as an exercise in pastiche.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The top three are MASHfics: Tuttle, All We Know, Go, tell them in Sparta - and four and five are both Star Trek fics (both Spock/McCoy): A Man of Integrity, and Through A Glass, Darkly.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh, that's a difficult question. Possibly it's ""I would not be you for a kingdom" " - my Villette slash story: though in that case I was just using the angst Charlotte Bronte handed me in the novel. Likewise with the Blake's 7 story Cruelty Has A Human Heart, and the Good Omens story Let this cup pass from me, and the Highlander story Day and Night But, even what with stories where the angst is built into the source material, I think the angstiest ending is that of the long series The Games. (I considered MASH in Drabbles and concluded that as I wrote the 80 or so drabbles in the sequence individually and out of order, it doesn't really count.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That is an extremely difficult question to answer. I like writing in universes full of angst. Many of my stories have hopeful endings, which make me happy, but I think the unequivocably happy ending is the MASH story Responsible Indefinitely For Each Other’s Welfare. Because there they are, together, at the end of a long life: and Hawkeye is still the same delightfully annoying trickster as ever.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Sometimes. Usually for ridiculous reasons. "I hate that pairing!" Well, don't read it then. "So-and-so isn't gay, he's too masculine!" - Oh, honey, let me introduce you to some big strong bears, you'll love them.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I would say mostly no, but occasionally yes. I believe sex scenes should be essential to the plot and full of character development, so I rarely write just pure smut. But I did write a Stargate Atlantis story, What I Tell You Three Times Is True, which was purely written as a sex scene, after a giggled conversation with a friend who was into Stargate Atlantis.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I love crossovers, both the reading and the writing of them, and have written dozens. I would say the weirdest one I ever wrote was a West Wing / Star Trek:tng / Drop The Dead Donkey crossover, No More Overtime.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not as far as I know.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, sometimes. It's a fun thing to do with friends. I co-wrote the More Deadly MacGyver/Highlander crossover with Jakrar, sparked out of a paragraph she sent me in an email.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
"All time" - I don't think I have one. I've loved and still love Avon/Vila, Spock/McCoy, Bodie/Cowley, House/Wilson, Holmes/Watson - but right now my favourite ship is definitely Hawkeye/Mulcahy.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The Buffy/MASH crossover. I just don't see where I'd find the time.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, perseverance, imagination, angst.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Heterosexuality. Certain words which I always misspell unless I look them up, each time. Not understanding what is going on in people's minds, see 'heterosexuality' - also racism, sexism, and classism.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Mais c'est impossible. I prefer to write in English but signal that this is a different language being spoken. Bene, plerumque. I had to think about this a lot when writing ASL dialogue for All We Know.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Blake's 7.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Usually the one I am writing at the moment, which is to say All We Know - and the one I want to finish: A Hawk Through the Mirror. But I think technically one of my best is Friend and Stranger - a story set three years after the events of the 1993 movie The Fugitive, written in form as much like the movie as I could make it, full of sudden POV changes between Gerard and Kimble and attempting to get the emotional intensity and chemistry between the two of them that we saw on screen, down to a satisfying conclusion.

Yes! I respond to basically every comment I get, even if all I can usually manage is some variation of "sfkgjhsfkgj thank you!!" because I have no idea how to take praise but I want the commenter to know they mean the world to me

Ooooooooof uhhhhh probably the little Detroit: Become Human ficlet I did called I Will Go Down. TW for suicide XD But there are a lot of angsty fics on there so who knows lmao
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics end pretty bittersweet but I think Hope (Doctor Who) is one of my happiest endings <3
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, surprisingly! My fics don't usually have much reach tbf. The only time I got anything close to "hate" was an ableist saying my disabled Dragon Age Inquisition OC is unrealistic to the setting and would likely be "with their clan or dead".
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Sometimes! Usually it's abstract (a la Holy, Holy, Holy) or porn with feelings (a la A Tale of Yearning) but I've been known to indulge in a lil PWP on occasion
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Just one! I have an ongoing Torchwood x Quantum Leap crossover 'verse thanks to @chaos-of-the-endless 😂 I also wrote a Baldur's Gate x Dead by Daylight AU recently!

no but some of my fics were inspired by other people or based on RP I've done in the past

Oh don't even XD uhhhhh right now it's Jenn&Ian from Quantum Leap and Geralt/Yennefer/Jaskier from the Witcher but my shipping loves go so far back I could never name an all time favourite
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Family Reunion :( I've been trying to write it for,,,, basically as long as I've been writing but I can never finish it and then years pass and I hate it and think it's cringe and want to start it from scratch, rinse and repeat)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Taking an impulsive headcanon and running with it. I have so many ficlets just because I thought of a headcanon and NEEDED to put it to the page. I also enjoy angst and hurt/comfort, things that expand on already existing angst and make it WORSE :3
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
In fic writing it's definitely description. I tend to get carried away in dialogue and forget to Say Other Stuff but I think I have a good handle on it now. That and smut, I enjoy writing it but I have to be either In The Mood or shut off my brain so I don't cringe so hard I delete it all bc I struggle with explicit content and get embarassed when things I'm writing are at all Kinky bc I have a crippling fear of judgement
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language for a fic?
As a reader I enjoy it! As a writer, just be careful, stick to one or two words rather than full dialogue if you don't have the time or energy to deep-google that shit

this changes daily but at the moment I'm loving Something More and the rest of my Sandman fics revolving around the dream OC I made for it. I'm in love with them and I enjoy writing their dynamic with the Endless siblings too <3

I like that in Mirror Image, the Bartedner is never explicitly confirmed to be god. Sam says he's the one that's been leaping him around, but he also calls him god or fate or time or whatever, even tells Al that he might be something completely different
It just opens the universe up to so many options and i love it

Mental illness isn't pretty, and sometimes the thing that sparks a spiral seems completely unrelated to the spiral itself -- Jenn knows this. Sometimes supporting your friends means a patience, forgiveness, and knowing when to walk away.

Doors locked. Windows locked? No, windows open. Stinks in here. Adjust the rug. Adjust it again. Adjust it again. Why? Something bad. What? Something. Do it again.
Ian huffed to themself, sweeping dust out of the rug for the sixth time that day, ready to be vaccuumed again. Was that a stray hair settling on the table? Hm. They made a mental note to spray and clean it again, chiding themself for letting the place get this dirty. They'd just have to work harder whenever they got back from Quantum Leap. Sleep be damned.
"You know the place is fine, right?" Jenn was here. Right. They'd forgotten she had a key, and now she was stomping all over the rug they just cleaned and eating chips near the couch and putting an empty can on the table.
"Are you stupid?" The words snapped from behind clenched teeth before Ian could stop themself, snatching the can up and throwing it unceremoneously into the trash. Jenn rolled her eyes at them, smart enough to at least fold over her chip packet and shove it back in her pocket, but then dusted her hands off on their jeans, which led to another bout of rug-sweeping.
"What? I was gonna throw it away in a minute."
"The place is not fine," Ian snapped, ignoring her defence entirely, "it's gross and you're not helping."
"Oooh-kay." Jenn rolled her eyes again, flopping down onto the couch with a huff. "Lemme know when you're done with whatever this is."
Of course she didn't understand. She never understood when it was important; nobody did. A wave of deep, crushing loneliness squeezed at Ian's chest and settled like poison on their tongue -- she couldn't understand how important this was. They were alone with it, as always. Worse still, they couldn't even begin to describe the mess of directions in their head when everything they felt just mixed and soured into rage: she's mocking you. Wants you to fall apart. If you listen to her she'll ruin you. "Just because you can live in that nasty-ass apartment doesn't mean we all have to live to that standard, okay?"
"The hell's that supposed to mean?" Jenn was offended now. The vague judgement that seemed to permanently live in her eyes was narrowed into hurt and somehow the guilt only made them more mad.
"It means stop sitting there like you're trying to ruin my life and help me or get out!"
Jenn winced at the tone of their voice. She hated being yelled at, especially by Ian. She hated being told to leave. Ian knew all this, but they continued scrubbing the table as if the state of the glass was directly responsible for this entire situation, while their stomach clenched and their chest pounded just leave just leave, I don't want to hurt you any more.
But then she was gone. A door slammed and a cry tore from their throat. Don't leave! I need you!
When did they end up on the floor? Why was the world swimming-- when did Jenn come back? Why were her arms around them, guiding them to the couch, they should be mad they should be screaming at them, they were imperfect.
They couldn't bring Ben back.
"I'm so scared," they whispered, Jenn's shirt already damp from their tears.
"I know," she sighed, petting their hair in soothing circles.
"I screwed everything up..." Great, they were full on ugly-sobbing. Jenn was gonna have to change her shirt and Ian was going to be all puffy for days.
"It's not your fault."
"I'm sorry."
"I know."
