#dc spoilers#memory identification CHALLENGE#okay so: obviously there's the 'waking up in cadmus'#the friends don't seem like a reference to anything - i mean ig it could be donna's death but i think they're just a generic memory#or possibly it's yj:dc and there's just nothing that actually happened to reference?#i think that's tara dying#and then the last one: match punching him?or is it superboy-prime punching him?#(to be conner is to be constantly getting punched by alternate superboys dsfdsfs)#anyway (despite this one angsty panel) this was fun and zippy#v. light-hearted and not a whole lot to it - looks like it'll be space adventure + punching-stuff#there isn't enough here to really hook me but the art is cute and conner's narration is bouncy#so if they keep putting it on the app i'll probably keep reading#i really wish. mm. okay WARNING RANT INCOMING this is kind of tangential and maybe it's just the comics that i pick up#but i feel like of the few modern comics i've picked up - a lot of them are very light on the characters having concrete problems#even problems as simple as 'getting bad grades in school' or 'have to lie to my dad' or 'need a job to pay the rent'#like. i feel like tim in robin '93 had concrete problems that couldn't be solved with a pep talk and 'you just gotta believe in yourself'#dick in nightwing '97 - same! concrete personal life problems that could not be resolved by a pep talk!#and i really miss. like. characters experiencing dilemmas or having to make trade-offs#and just generally i miss a bit more realism - like. conner feels unneeded. okay? so?#shouldn't he be going to school or something? why is costume-stuff top of mind? where are the authority figures/external forces?#i think these kinds of intensely-internal problems can work in non-visual fiction bc you're in the character's head BUT#comics are largely visual and everything with real emotional punch works way better if it's concrete things that i can see#anyway that's just my personal preferences though and it's not superboy's fault!#conner's never been a realistic character - he had goofy merchandising and was a kid celebrity and so forth#and although i didn't read his preboot solo i don't think he ever went to school there either? except in adventure comics?#so he seems very well-suited to plucky space-adventure#and i wish him the best. go forth and prosper conner!! punch those aliens!!

it's crazy to think about how long comic book characters have been around for
Dick Grayson was created in 1940
There's probably been tons of kids, adults, and older people who were just obsessed with him as I am now
It's just crazy to know that I probably share the same favorite character with people who lived such different lives than me
A soldier in WW2, one of the first astronauts to go to the moon, a kid enjoying color tv for the first time - it's possible any of them could have loved the same character I, so many years later, do now
And that's just so heartwarming and cool and wack all at the same time

Here’s an interesting someone posted on Tik Tok about Dick Grayson talking about blockbuster’s death, but instead of saying Tarantula he says “vigilante”, or “a vigilante” I can’t tell.
Someone in the comments also pointed out that when you turn on English captions he says Tarantula.
Kinda sad they made him so different from the Eat! Bang! Kill! Tour version, but I’ve yet to actually see it so maybe Harley will say Tushwing😔

Gonna be interesting to see how long newer Cassandra Cain fans take to stop calling her Orphan. Or if they stop calling her that at all and hate on her being Batgirl cause now she's "in Babs shadow." (this will very much be determined by how DC chooses to write her moving forward. If you really think Orphan was Cass as a "solo" hero equal to Nightwing then you're fooling yourself. And also Black Bat, while a better name, wasn't equal to Nightwing either.) Steph fans absolutely read to move on from Spoiler though.
I'm not 100% certain Orphan is done. I do think with how they're using her Batgirl look again it should be over and I'm 97% sure it is, but I'm keeping that small 3% in me just in case my fear that Batgirls is now a team name and Steph is Spoiler and Cass is Orphan, but together they are the Batgirls.

(Spoilers) bc i am in both physical and mental agony rn, the latter being bc of ep 3, holy fuck, i am going to focus on the Boi n the 2 fic ideas i thought up during it

st ones basically the exact same concept as another au i have in another fandom, but basically gar is captured by cadmus, maybe during the end of s2 and the 1 that rachel helped was a clone. Anyway beginning of s3 bruce is like "yeah btw theres been a green tiger runnin around killing people. lol didnt u have a kid like that or smthn" amd y e a h
its pure chaos, especially with clone gar being a Little Bitch
gar ends up in arkhem at some point, prolly stuck in tiger form n doesnt recognize dick or anyone. red hood might use him, not sure yet.
other au is just,,,,gar going boom instead of hank.
also i havent seen the ep in ages but i love that gar just kinda. Went with em when they first got him. Dick n kory were like "uh ok" when rachel told them to take gar too, like boi just got in the car and got adopted
I havent actually read the comics, like literally none of them, not marvel either. Im just getting all my info from tv shows and you-
YOU HAD ME AT GAR FOCUSED AUS. i am also in agony because of this show help
The idea of a clone Gar made by CADMUS because Mercy wanted to keep him is scary but I can see it, she's just Chief 2.0 and Bruce just casually telling Dick "also there's been this green tiger problem, I think CADMUS made it, it's been killing people. I don't know what CADMUS is planning with it but it's not good." and Dick just SCREAMS. I had a similar idea awhile back before s3 and saw Gar's sudden attitude change but instead of a clone, Rachel's dark magic (or Trigon i dunno, it was either one) like corrupted his soul while she was healing him and left some demonic power in him that'll keep corrupting until he's pretty much a demon himself, making his personality change and become more angry and aggressive with his teammates... which is beginning to fit s3 Gar and I just.... whoops.
As for the Arkham Asylum one, I actually have a fic planned for closer to Halloween about Gar getting Fear Toxined while at Arkham Asylum with Dick, but he's separated from him when it happens and I'm not going to spoil anything but it gets very intense and dark. I mean.. this is Fear Toxin we're dealing with here. And there will be peak rage/protective Dadwing content because we all love it.
If the show had Gar die instead of Hank.. *INHALE* I wouldn't have been able to watch, I would have been sobbing too hard. bUT that doesn't mean I haven't thought about Red Hood taking Gar instead of Hank because I have. (if there's any possible way I can twist the story to be about Gar and Dick I will.) If that episode was about Gar, I would go with something like a serious life endangering injury instead of a bomb because it would have been a way to introduce Gar's ability to bring himself back to life (which was shown in 2x01) to his teammates. Maybe Jason would implant Gar with some device that makes him bleed out slowly internally but when his heartbeats faster he bleeds faster and that bed conversation scene with Hank and Gar? yup, that'd be Dick coming in to lay next to Gar and talk to him. I also imagine Nightwing would be in Dove's place as the one who accidentally sets off the detonator while Kory would be in Nightwing's as the one who tried to get Nightwing to not listen to Red Hood but Dick is Dick and his love and strong urge to protect his children some times makes him make bad decisions. Gar would die before Conner gets there to save him and like canon that's how the episode would end but in e4 the Titans would learn Gar's powers bring him back to life and he's way too chill about it like "damn i died again??? oh well I want a sandwich dying makes me hungry." I love this rewrite idea so much already now I wanna write it @wonderbatwayne @not-so-mundane-after-all-97 yall think I should?? 🤔 or would it be too sad for anyone to read 😅

fandom(s): I used to write short stories for God of War when I was into that. Now all I write is stories for Titans because it’s my life and it’s the only way to have my favorite characters interact since canon likes to act like they don’t know each other.
where you post: Ao3 (maybe someday i’ll post short stories on Tumblr)
most popular oneshot (by kudos): Hot Chocolate and Parenthood - it’s a short story that takes place in my Titans au. It focuses on Dick and Kory, but Gar’s there too, he’s just asleep.
most popular multichapter fic: A Beast’s howl instead of a Raven’s caw - which is a rewrite of Titans ep1 (with some non-canon chapters added) in another au where Gar is the half demon main character and pals around with Dick, who’s not really like his canon self. He’s a little more goofy and not afraid to show he cares. Because Gar’s the main character, Dick’s character has to compliment him in some way. Like how Rachel and Dick’s characters in canon compliment and parallel each other- so, since Gar is more light hearted and goofy than Rachel, I had to write Dick to match him. Which was a lot of fun! It got pretty popular too- a surprise to me.
favorite story you’ve written so far: besides the one above, I really like the one I’m working on right now: All We Have is Each Other and That’s Okay With Me - it’s another rewrite but not a au, just canon rewrite. It’s a rewrite of the episode ‘Donna Troy’ where instead of leaving Gar with Angela, Dick takes him with him to Donna’s. Because oh boy, did the fact that Dick left Gar with a complete stranger make me mad- like excuse me Mr. Grayson, you agreed to take Gar in and made a commitment, you’re taking him with you. No pulling an ep2 with Rachel here. No Sir. The baby boy is coming with you.
fic you were nervous to post: the last chapter of A Beast’s howl instead of a Raven’s caw. It was the darkest chapter in the fic. No spoilers here, but demon powers sure do suck.
how do you choose your titles: I’m awful at thinking of titles and naming chapters. Once in a while I’ll think of a good title, but not usually. That’s what I use song lyrics for! I’ll listen to songs that I associate with the fic in question and if a certain lyric fits a scene from the fic or the whole fic itself, I’ll use that. (same goes for chapters if I’m struggling to think of a name). Example: for the last fic I linked, the “All we have is each other” comes from the song One Foot by WALK THE MOON and I added the “and that’s okay with me”.
do you outline: I’m not really sure if what I do would be considered ‘outlining’. I end up with a fic two ways: 1: a random scene appears in my head and I wanna write a fic to use said scene in. I have to add what the context is while I go, like a puzzle. Whatever fits, fits. and: 2. I rewrite canon. When I do that, I like to watch the canon scene I’m trying to rewrite a few times (and figure out how I’m gonna change it/what I’m gonna change), and take note of things like their facial expressions and what tones they talk in when they say certain lines so I can write it as accurate as possible!
complete: uh... ha, like 3? I lose motivation so damn quickly. I’m trying to get better at that though. I had few complete short stories but I never uploaded them because I lost them.
in progress: last chapter for “All We Have is Each Other and That’s Okay With Me”. Sadly, it’ll be a long chapter so it’ll take me awhile to finish.
coming soon/not yet started: missing scene(s) fic for the episode ‘Nightwing’ and a fic based on what I want to see in season 3.
do you accept prompts: I’m a very slow writer, so no. At least not right now. When I work on writing faster, I’ll think about it.
