Ok so I teach wee kiddywinks these days and some of them like Star Wars
And I make it very obvious I like star wars in my everyday life by always having some star wars merch on my person. So these kiddywinks know I love star wars. We have talked about star wars before. They know how to distract me from the actual teaching.
Anyway so they’re on their hollybobs right now and have been since before the first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi came out, so when we’re all back to teaching next week and I just know the hot topic will be Obi-Wan Kenobi (since no other big franchise thing has been out lately (go see everything everywhere all at once though it’s amazing)). And that means the littl’uns are gonna be trying to distract me with star wars talk HOW WILL I STAY STRONG and not just derail the lesson by going on about how much I love obi wan and how oh my gosh but quinlan vos was namedropped who cares what else happened. Also not going on a tangent about how obi wan and quinlan totally fucked (inappropriate to talk about to 10 year olds) or an inquisitor tangent bringing up fallen order (which is a 16 for a reason I’m not actually sure of but again with the inappropriate).
How does one talk about star wars like a normal person I’m in too deep I know too much. (at least I haven’t read brotherhood yet so I can’t ramble on about that. Some bastard (who I would probably be friends with lbr) managed to reserve the one copy the library has before me)
Anyway wish me luck (or to be more on brand may the force be with me)

May the Flirts Be With You- Seonghwa x Female!Cosplayer!Reader
It adds years to my life as a massive Star Wars nerd that a member of one of my ult groups is one too 🫶🏻 him making a May the 4th post = instant serotonin. It's 3 weeks late, but here's a corny little fun post for SW Day 😁
Word Count: 2394 | Conventions, Nerds to Lovers lmao, that trope I've accidentally created where Yeosang plays cupid | Warnings: the con is really generic because I didn't want to rip anything real off too much & have it be something they couldn't go to lmao, plus that way I could make other popular sci-fi references >:3
Tumblr media
“Isn’t the cloak a bit much?”
"Come on," Seonghwa half-jokingly whined, "you said you were going to appreciate everything."
Yeosang had joined him at a sci-fi convention, something Seonghwa had always dreamed of attending. Artists sat at tables showing their amazing creations, groups of friends and family took pictures with signs and props, and of course the place was flooded with cosplayers and merch. They'd even passed by the 501st Legion.
"I do," Yeosang assured him, nodding towards an artist table stocked with hyperrealistic head sketches of the classic Star Trek cast, "like look at those. I don't even watch the show and I kind of want one."
"That's why they say these cons are so expensive, like look over there!" Seonghwa pointed eyes widening. "There's a guy selling discontinued Star Wars lego sets!"
"Oh, boy," Yeosang muttered, but with a smile as his hyung dragged him over to the man's table, where he started eagerly digging in, that childlike wonder Yeosang knew so well starring his eyes.
"This is a fun little ship," Yeosang commented, picking up a small packet, "I like the yellow."
Seonghwa turned, then gave a nod. "The Naboo Starfighter! That is cute, you should get it for your shelf."
"You know what, maybe I will."
"That's the spirit! As for me, I'm between the AT-TE and the TIE Advanced set."
"Go with the cheaper one."
Seonghwa stuck his tongue out at Yeosang, who mirrored the gesture, then giggled in spite of himself. He wasn't the only one who made the sound, though; Seonghwa swiveled around, ready to greet another lego enthusiast, but what he saw had his fingers involuntarily loosening, almost sending the (slightly overpriced, in his opinion) AT-TE set tumbling back onto the red-and-black tablecloth.
It was a girl, a young woman about his age, dressed head-to-toe in a perfect Princess Leia cosplay. And not the classic white outfit, but the Bespin gown and cape.
You made the red outfit look classically beautiful, and whether it was all your hair or some sort of wig or extensions, you'd braided it just right, the loops falling back and at each side of your face, which was focused on Seonghwa with a smile.
"Oh, sorry, you two were just funny. You look like a Jedi and his padawan having a spat."
Seonghwa tore his eyes off of you long enough to regard Yeosang. "I told you I looked like a Jedi!"
"You sure do," you added, tilting your head toward the boxes in his hands, "what are you looking at getting there?"
Seonghwa shakily lowered the AT-TE back to the table. "Oh, well, I think I'm going with the TIE Advanced set."
"Good choice," you loudly whispered, leaning a bit closer, "355 to that one's 794. A little under half the pieces, but a quarter of the price."
"That's what I thought, like the TIE is way more iconic too, sorry Battle of Utapau."
"Yeah, I'm more into the OG movies myself."
He nodded toward your cosplay. "I see that. Did you make that yourself, or buy the pieces?"
"Oh, no, I made this."
Seonghwa feels his jaw drop, warmth pooling in his chest at the way you giggle again, this time at his expression, which rises from shock to a wide, awed grin. "You- you really? How do you do it? How long does it take? One of my roommates just customizes regular clothes and it seems like he can spend hours."
"Oh, yeah, hours is about right," you chuckle, "but it feels like the hardest part is finding the right fabrics sometimes, like these thicker ones aren't at every fabric store."
"Yeah, you really sound like my friend," Seonghwa jokes, "but you look way better."
He flushes the moment the words leave his mouth, immediately stuttering backtracks. "Well, um, that is, I mean, he doesn't do cosplay, more just like paint and cutting stuff up and-"
"Don't worry, you wouldn't believe how many creeps have told me I should have gone with the slave look," your voice cuts into his ramble, "I'm not offended. I actually appreciate it, um...what was your name again?"
"Oh," he lit up, "Seonghwa. This is my first convention."
Introducing yourself, you smiled and waved a hand at the legos he paused the conversation to purchase. "And it looks like you're getting something out of it already."
"More clutter for his room," Yeosang supplied.
You laughed. "You don't want to see mine, then. Besides, I can't help but notice you bought a ship too."
"A tiny one!" Yeosang sheepishly defended himself, quickly laughing at the m-hm sound you made.
"That's how it starts. Get him addicted, Seonghwa."
He nodded. "I'm trying."
"That's the spirit," you said with a mischievous grin.
Seonghwa nodded, then felt his eyes start to lose focus from looking at your own. "Er, well, we'll see you around, (y/n)!" He waved, starting to turn and walk away with Yeosang, who immediately shoved him.
"Whoa, what's that for?"
"What do you think you're doing?"
"Getting back to the convention?"
"Don't you think you should talk to her?"
"What, and follow her around like a weirdo?"
"No," Yeosang fought, "invite her to go check out the voice acting stall or build your legos together or at least just take a picture with her to remember her by if you're too scared to do anything else."
Seonghwa frowned slightly. "I'm not scared."
"Ok," his long-haired friend shrugged, "then prove it."
"I will," he said with a satisfied smile as he turned on his heels, heading back for you.
"Oh, hey, (y/n)?"
You turned around too, white cape billowing around you like angel wings. He swallowed, trying not to stare too hard.
"Can we take a picture? I- I haven't really gotten many pictures with cosplayers, and-"
"Sure!" Smiling brightly, you accepted his proffered phone, taking a couple selfies that left Seonghwa feeling like a boiled lobster, he must be so red. He wasn't expecting you to put your arm around him, but he sure wouldn't complain, either. You also had Yeosang take a few head-to-toe ones so you could see your full outfits and the poses you guys did.
By the time you were done, you both were laughing, especially at one selfie you caught of all three of you where both you and Seonghwa posed and Yeosang just had the most confused expression. In another, you reached behind you to the book stall, each picking one up to pretend to read. Seonghwa made a shocked face at James Luceno's Tarkin, Yeosang mimed intense focus on Timothy Zahn's The Icarus Hunt, and you pretended to laugh at the bowl of petunias in Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
"Well, thanks!" Seonghwa exclaimed after your photoshoot, trailing off before Yeosang elbowed him from behind. "Er, well, I was wondering if you are on any social media for your cosplays?"
"Yup," you nodded, closing out your Photos app with a smile at all the new shots of you guys that had been added to your phone and sliding over to instagram, "Here's where I post a lot of my photos, but if you want to see anything more in-depth or show your fashion designing friend, I can give you my youtube."
Wow... "You have a cosplay youtube? That's so cool! I bet it's a lot of fun!"
"Sure, it's where I track progress, share my processes, and do hauls and stuff too. Oh, and these guys," you shook the box of lego you'd bought at the stall that introduced you, "will get built on there, too. Hey, would you wanna be in a video?"
This time, no elbowing was required. "On your channel? Yes, of course! We could build our legos," Seonghwa replied, feeling excitement rush to his face as he strolled past a life-size Dalek, fingers reaching out to gently brush the smooth dome atop the metal structure.
"For one, yes," you said, a hand reaching up to straighten your Leia braids, "but how would you feel about modeling a legit cosplay?"
His eyes flew open. "You'd make me a whole outfit?"
"Well, I need practice doing men's fits too," you giggled, swerving around a couple dressed as Zoë and Wash from Firefly, "and you have, like, perfect proportions."
Seonghwa's mouth opened and closed a few times, but he didn't know what to say to that. You didn't say any more, either, your interest suddenly captured by a stall selling Padme-inspired jewelry, including one thick silver choker that honestly captured Seonghwa's eyes too...
"So, uh, would you be interested?" You glanced back and forth between the stall and Seonghwa, the way your eyes peered up at him involuntarily raising the corners of his lips.
"As long as my outfit is as pretty as yours."
~
"Everyone's commenting asking if you're a professional model," you giggle at Seonghwa, glancing up at your phone as you hand him the bright orange brick separator.
He pries apart two misplaced lego pieces before meeting your eyes. "Me?"
"Yes, you," you fire back, closing your phone and leaning a bit closer, scanning first Seonghwa's progress, then his face, "have you seen yourself?"
Heat creeps back into his cheeks. "Yes, but I've seen you, too, so I know they should be asking that about you, not me."
"Wow, that was really smooth. No wonder I dressed you up as Lando," you grin, resting your chin on your hand.
Seonghwa just gazed into your eyes with a fond smile. That had been a long, but amazing, process as you got measurements, pinned him still until he was stiff all over, but put hours of work into detailing a masterpiece, complete with a cape of his very own. All the standing around was so worth it to feel the way your hands gently grazed his sides, to hear you laugh at his little comments and even feel it against his neck when you were working on his shoulders, to always make sure you were stopping to take care of yourself, too, and hear how grateful you were when he reminded you you were doing amazing, no need to push yourself. Watching the transformation, your busy hands at work, getting to embody a piece of the universe he loved so much, all of it made for some of the best weeks Seonghwa had had in a long time.
"That was fun," he commented, attaching two more pieces to the wing of the ship he was building.
"Yeah," you agreed, "especially when you almost kissed me."
Seonghwa reddened, stiffening and lowering the wing in his hand slightly.
It had happened one of the last times you'd met up when you were attaching his cape, hands on his shoulders. He'd relaxed too much, falling into watching you work with dazed eyes, dreaming of leaning in, and then you pulled a little too hard, sending him surging forward, his face almost crashing into yours. He'd managed to catch himself just in time and you'd edited that part out of the fitting video of course, but that moment, your awkward but thrilling almost-kiss, had been living rent-free in Seonghwa's mind ever since then. A part of him wished he'd just managed to fall all the way, but that also wasn't how he wanted your first kiss to go. If you liked him back, which Yeosang and Hongjoong insisted you did. Hongjoong had even taken to texting him 'May the flirts be with you' before he went to your studio, which strangely had encouraged him on a couple occasions to just say the compliment or to brush your hands a little when he handed you supplies or made sure you had water.
"I'm so sorry about that, I really was just clumsy and-"
"It's all right," you smirked faintly, putting the constructed cockpit in your hands down, "I was ready for it."
Seonghwa's brows furrowed as he fully set the wing down. "You... you..."
"Wait, I'm sorry, did I read things wrong? I thought we were flirting. But if not, I'm so sorry! I'm not good at this," you confessed, "you know what they say about nerds and all."
Any and all dissatisfaction about Hongjoong being right dissipated into the great sparkly abyss of joy rising and thudding out of Seonghwa's chest because holy cow, the super cool girl who makes Star Wars outfits and builds lego with him and doesn't laugh at his ASMR is interested in them? Sure, let him and Yeosang rub it in Seonghwa's face. He'd endure anything if it meant getting closer to you.
"I didn't want to make you uncomfortable, either," he chuckled, grin widening by the second, "but yes, I was. My roommate even started texting me to hype me up before I visited you, look!"
He showed you the text, which was followed by a gif of Han Solo and a whole bunch of teasing ㅋㅋㅋㅋ.
"I was worried you were going to see all the youtube comments teasing me about my obvious crush on you or how cute we were together!"
His eyes widened again. "So you have an obvious crush on me?"
"Seonghwa," you folded your arms, "you don't exactly want someone to kiss you because they're like a brother to you."
"Right, right, sorry, it's just so hard to believe a real-life space princess like you is interested in a lowly smuggler like myself."
"Ok," you snorted, "that was corny."
"I was trying to be corny."
"Good," you tease, leaning in closer until your nose is almost brushing his, "I like corny."
"That's why you like Attack of the Clones. It's the dialogue."
"It's the childhood appeal and you know it! I always say they got a little confident in their millions with some of the writing, but something in it really captured a youth vibe. It's like what they did in Twilight, but better because of the rest of the worlds happening around it-" You rambled, distracted by Seonghwa's claim.
Seonghwa, meanwhile, could only stare at your animated gesticulating and think how you're most definitely the girl of his dreams. "Ok, seriously, please kiss me."
“Alright, but we’re definitely doing the cape yank next time,” you comment as you lean in, letting Seonghwa take one of your hands, the other pulling you in softly by your cheek until your lips met.

Luke: Leia can you check my spelling on this note? I want to give it to Din, but not look stupid.
Leia: too late for that, nerd. Let me see it.
Luke: Hands over note.
Leia reading out loud: To the love of my life, Din. From your secret admirer, Luke.
Leia: . . .
Luke: Is something wrong?
Leia: Um, nope. Nothing wrong that I can see.
Luke: Thanks Leia, I knew I could count on you.

Huntlow Week Day 3: Prompt Nerds/Nature.
Willow liked Cosmic Frontier enough. At least that's what she'd told Hunter. She'd sat through all the movies and the TV series with Gus and Hunter.
She'd been happy enough to get him a bootleg version of the Cosmic Frontier Holiday Special that the creator had wanted buried forever as a gift for Bleeding Hearts Day.
But when it was announced that there would be a convention in the middle of Bonesborough that celebrated Human Realm pop-culture, Hunter was surprised when Willow suggested the two wear a "couple's costume."
"It shouldn't be a surprise, man!" Gus chuckled. "You two have been joined at the pinkies since that time at the Archives! You can go as O'Bailey and Willow can go as Hanako."
Hunter had considered it. But when it came right to it he wasn't sure it was right. After all, Willow liked Cosmic Frontier enough, but not as much as he did.
"Here's the thing." Hunter told Willow. "I wanna go with you! I wanna do the ... you know... couple's costume and stuff? B-but I know I like Cosmic Frontier more than you do?"
"Hmmmmmm. Astute as always, O'Bailey" Willow tapped Hunter's temple playfully. "So here we have a bit of a dilemma. We are both nerds. But what we need to find is that sweet spot where our nerdoms meet in that perfect intersection that the costume would work for both of us."
"Understood." Hunter nodded tersely. He pulled out a notebook and a pen. "Okay. I was thinking we could be Leia Organa and Han Solo..."
On the notebook, Hunter scratched out the words "Leia and Han."
"Oh! That's a good one." Willow cooed. "But one problem. Which one of us is Leia and which one is Han."
"That's a tough one." Hunter mused. "I mean, we're both badasses. And they're both badasses. And we could both rock those costumes."
"True." Willow nodded. "Our dual badassets transcend gender norms."
"But if we're gonna do a Star Wars costume, I kinda wana have a lightsaber, and Leia and Han don't use one in the Original Trilogy... and I don't wanna get into an argument with Jerbo about EU and Legends canon again, so maybe we should hold off on that." Hunter let out a grunt.
"Fair." Willow nodded. "We don't need you and Jerbo to go down that road again."
"We could do Chat Noir and ... you know..." Hunter offered.
"Even though she's not an actual Ladybug, I don't think I've got it in me." Willow bit her lip. "Sorry."
Hunter wrote down "Lady Bug and Chat Noir" and then promptly crossed it out.
"How about Rory Williams and Amy Pond?" Willow smiled. She extended a gentle finger to his nose and gave him a soft boop.
Hunter laughed, just a bit -- then his eyes grew real serious. Too serious. Silly serious. Running his fingers through his hair Hunter gave wink and something that Willow called "Duck Lips".
"You dork!" Willow snorted. "What are you doing!"
"I'm imagining the costume." Hunter raised his chin with confidence and gave double finger guns. "Yeah. I could totally rock a Roman Centurion look"
"Yeah you could." Willow giggled. She returned his wink and his finger guns, and flexed her bicep which made Hunter's smirk falter slightly. "But you know," Willow said hotly, "I'd be the one waiting for centuries to protect you."
With a moment Hunter's mask of confidence slipped. He felt his eyes grow soft. His ears heated up and he couldn't help but reach out to cup Willow's round face as if she was made of the very porcelain of a teacup. "I would protect you too." He murmured. "We could protect each other."
"Oooooohhhhhh." Willow gasped.
"Speechless, captain?" Hunter's smirk was back. "Because you know I would."
Willow released a breath. Fanning herself dramatically she took Hunter's arm and dropped a kiss right in the middle of his wrist. Right on that awful sigil -- and for a moment it almost felt as if his former life had dissolved under the soft brush of her lips.
"Who's speechless now?" Willow lilted.
In spite of the heat in his stomach, Hunter felt a bit of ice track down his spine. "Maaaaaaaybe we're not ready for those costumes just yet!" He laughed. "B-but we can put it on a list for a future con?"
Willow nodded slowly. "Sound's perfect." She agreed.
"So, we know what we're not gonna do." Hunter mused, "But we still need a costume. We all know Luz and Amity are -"
"Gonna be Azura and Hecate." Willow agreed.
"Classic." Hunter nodded. "But what's classic us?"
They looked at their hands. Fingers intertwined like lace. Like a tiny flame between them. And then? A small smile played upon Hunter's lips.
"Do you trust me?" He asked gently.
"Pfft. Yeah." Willow nodded. "With my everything, guy!"
_____________________
Willow slipped into the long sea green dress. The sleeves were perfectly puffed at the top. Her neck fastened with smart buttons. Her boots tapped on the ground as she slipped out from behind the changing screen. Placing the round woven hat with a red ribbon on her head she strode out to meet her match.
And Hunter? He looked nothing less than pure magic. Leaning against Willow's dresser in long black slacks, a white gauze shirt and a pink and blue checkered cloak with a red lining. He wore a concealment stone on a rope on his neck that made his hair appear just a bit longer.
And when he rose to meet his witch? Hunter greeted her appropriately. He said, "There you are, sweetheart, sorry I'm late. I was looking everywhere for you."

So you miss people asking you to rank things? Could you rate/rank acotar characters (of your choice) as Star Wars fans on a scale from “makes it their entire identity/personality” to “hater and they like people to know it” 👀
I'm gonna do men again, just because its 9 people
9. Eris Vanserra- Way too pretty to know ANYTHING about Star Wars.
8. Jurien- Isn't that a movie for children? He's pretty sure it is, but he's also judging you about it.
7. Tamlin- He's seen it and it was fine. It's just...it's a movie?
6. Tarquin- Tried to do a marathon once, didn't even make it to the Duel of the Fates in A Phantom Menace.
5. Azriel- Did you say Lord of the Rings? Well, that's what he heard you say and actually, did you know when Viggo Mortensen hit that helmet in Two Towers he broke his toes-
4. Lucien- Excellent background noise. Pretty sure he's seen the whole trilogy via Disney+ and chill. If you ask him, he'll lie and say his favorite character is Princess Leia when in truth, he doesn't have strong enough feelings to have a favorite character
3. Kallias- The Empire Strikes Back Hoth scene, specifically where Luke is taken by the wampa really captured Kallias's imagination. It's the best film, he doesn't care WHAT you have to say about it and actually, he'll fight.
2. Cassian- Big into the prequels. King of the memes, really loves The Clone Wars. "C'mon Nesta, put on the costume for me. Just once. No I'm not gonna be Jabba obviously I'm Han-"
Rhys- IDC what anyone says, Rhys is king of the fucking nerds. B I G opinions about the sequel trilogy, swears the Binary Sunset (Force Theme) changed his whole life. "ITS LIKE POETRY IT RHYMES" okay Rhys calm down

Chapter 3
Pairings : Marc Spector x Female!oc, Steven Grant xFemale!oc, Jake Lockleyx Female!oc
Genre: Fluff (angst and smut later on)
Summary: About 6 years ago, Marc Spector had a small whirlwind romance fling with a young woman after leaving home, though he fears attachment and leaves her behind. When he finally meets her again after 6 years, with a few surprises, could he bear to face her and reveal his truth?
Kid……kids……his kids? Marc couldn’t believe it. He didn’t know how to react. Terra had sat there, a little tense herself, waiting to see what he would do. He breathed a little faster, hands tense on his lap. It looked like he was close to crying, maybe close to screaming. Then just every so softly she placed her hand atop of his.
“Marc, breathe, it’s okay……”
Marc took a breath, the others in the headspace listening in,waiting to see what would happen. So they sat there a bit, her hand closed around his while he relaxed and finally held onto her own hand. Not too strongly but enough that she knew he was going to be okay. It gave her some peace of mind.
“Look…..I’m sorry….I’m sorry I didn’t tell you…..” she starts with a soft sigh. “Well, honestly, I couldn’t even find you after you left, you didn’t give me anything other than your name” Terra gives a lighthearted laugh. Watching her babies play and mold things out of the dirt and sand from the ground. It had been close to six years but she wouldn’t trade all the hardships for the world. Their laughter the one thing that made her day.
Tumblr media
Marc staying silent.
“Listen, you don’t have to do anything.”
That shocked him. What did she say? Was she saying he wouldn’t be able to handle this news? Handle their kids? Huh……
“Marc, you have children! They’re adorable! No wonder that boy looked familiar, he reminds me of…..of Randall”
“Marc, I’m not saying you won’t be able to care for them…” Did she read his mind? “Far from it! And you seem like you’d be good with them..” If he could have a chance maybe? “In no way I’d want you to have to be all ‘I need to be a father and do my part’ kind of deal”
Jake was wary of Terra, how she seemed to rush into inviting them over, but seeing how she got every single thought and insecurity right was actually interesting to watch. At least from the reflection anyway. It was amusing to watch Steven hang on her every word. Not like he wasn’t paying attention too. Just making sure for Marc’s sake that she was as she said she was.
“Marc…..I just…..” Terra looks over at the two kids, and deciding to calm the situation. “The girl, her name is Leia and the boy is Luke….I know I know, I’m a Star Wars nerd, sorry” That got a chuckle out of him at the very least. “Leia is so much like you, super passionate, has a lot of energy, she’s the oldest of the two. Luke is the younger one by two minutes, but he’s super aware, likes to build things. Both super adventurous”
Marc sniffles a bit, red round his eyes. Siblings. That sounded so much like his own childhood he’d lost so long ago. He could see the shine in their eyes, so much like Randall. The brother he’d lost so long ago. He’d felt soft hands cradle his face, wanting to fight it, walk away from showing any emotion, but he’d slowly let her turn his head towards her own. Forehead resting against his.
“Marc, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you cry” she insists, using her thumbs to wipe away the stray tears that had fallen and giving him a soft smile in return. “If anything, if you want, you can be a part of their lives……I just don’t wanna force you to be with me, you probably have a life all your own me I don’t wanna make you drop everything”
“Why are you crying mister?”
Marc sniffles, wiping his tears with his hand and finding the small child, Leia, gazing up at him. No longer in a defensive stance like the other day, but with curiosity and empathy. Her small hand raised up with a small daisy. “Please don’t cry”
“Baby, he’s just feeling some emotions, he’ll be okay.” Terra defends, knowing how empathetic the twins were. And just as she finished, she spotted Luke wiping his hands on his shorts, and grabbing a set of tissues from his pocket. Walking over to hand them over to Marc.
“Here mister, this wipe them away” Luke says quietly with small smile. Opening the packet and raising up on tippy toes to dry the tears that had stained Marc’s cheeks.
Leia ever observant, looked at her mother with concern. “Mommy? Is this a friend of yours?”
What could she say? Yes she knew him, but her children weren’t one to ask questions unless they were really curious about something. At least they could read the room. “Well, this is Marc, he’s a long time friend of mommy’s, we just haven’t seen each other in a while”
Marc was glad that was what she was going with for now. It hurt a bit she didn’t tell them straight out, but hearing Steven’s voice in the headspace. ‘It’d confuse them! Let’s be patient for now mate! That’d be the best option’ ‘I kinda agree amigo, we can wait a bit’
“Hi, I’m Marc, nice to meet you” he hated his croaky voice, he must look awful as he felt the sting in his eyes. But they accepted his hand. Leia giving a huge grin, missing a front tooth. Luke was wary but gives a handshake back with a smile of his own.
**********************************
It was only a few hours after that he left. Seeing their small hands wave goodbye from the front door. Marc let Steven take over for the rest of the way home, exhausted, but a bit happy. Terra even handed them her contact information so he could come visit again. If he wanted to, she still held up that he didn’t have an obligation, but he’d wanted to try. Wanted to try for her, for the twins.
“Mate, those two were so adorable! Luke seemed so smart, Leia has her mothers spirit! Jake agrees, and don’t lie, you seemed to like them too”
Jake didn’t want to admit it but he was amused with how Marc tried handling the kids, though like always he worried for Marc and Stevens safety. Though it seemed sitting there he felt an unknown calmness that hadn’t been there before. The stress and fear having melted away. He’s never seen Marc this awkward yet happy.
“We’ll see them again won’t we? Those little buggers seemed attached to to Marc already, wouldn’t be a bad thing would it?”
“Steven, it could work, but maybe it wouldn’t, those kids are cute but……”
“Terra, she didn’t reject me, she should have been upset that I left, that I left her all alone. What kind of woman doesn’t get angry like that? I’d be mad at myself” Marc sighs, raking his hands through his hair and pacing in the headspace. He had fun with the kids, hearing their made up stories and playing their games, but would it be too much too soon to be involved in their lives?
“Uh…..chaps…..I just remembered, did she say she was only here for two months?”
That’s what made him stop in his tracks, looking at the piece of paper in Steven's hands from the giant fish tank. This might be a long shot but he wasn’t going to walk out of her life again. Didn’t want to lose contact with the twins. He wasn’t going to lose her again.
Not this time.

On December 18, 2015 The Force Awakens was released, which was the first theatrical Star Wars film not to be based on a story by George Lucas. The events in the film took place 30 years after the events in Return of the Jedi. Between the gap, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) had started a new Jedi Accademy but then went into exile when he pushed Princess Leia's (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo's (Harrison Ford) son Ben Solo/Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to the Dark Side. Han Solo, unable to deal with the loss of his son, went back into space with Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew). Princess Leia kept herself busy with C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), Admiral Ackbar (Tim Rose & Erik Bauersfeld) Nien Nund (Mike Quinn) and the Rebellion fighting against the First Order, which was the replacement of the Empire and lead by the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis). Besides Kylo Ren, Snoke was served by Emperial officers like General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). The instalment introduced new recurring characters such as desert orphan Rey (Daisy Ridley), rogue Imperial soldier Finn (John Boyega), X-Wing pilots Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Snap Wexley (Greg Grunberg), rebel officer Lt Connix (Billie Lourd) and underworld contact Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o). There were also cameos by Max von Sydow, Simon Pegg, Warwick Davis, Harriet Walter, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Daniel Craig. The action mainly took place at Jakku, Takodana, D'Qar, Hosnian, Star Killer Base, and Ach-To. Harrison Ford finally got his wish of Han Solo being killed off. The film was praised for returning to a dirty looking universe and use of practical effects, but criticized by the plot following too closely to Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope. MODERN VERSE ( because i'm a sucker for it ) tw: grooming: it's not graphic, nor sexual, but I wanted to include the abuse storyline that is part of ben's canon somehow. furthermore, this is just a brief overview.
born and bred in new york city, ben is from a very liberal elite family with hundreds of years of history in the city and the state in general.
ben had a pretty good childhood. he got excellent grades, won many science awards, built cars with his dad on the weekends, and was semi-popular at school despite being a science nerd. but things changed when a teacher who led the chemistry club that ben attended befriended him when he was in 10th grade.
it seemed harmless enough at first, and ben had no reason to distrust the teacher named snoke. after all, he'd not once faced much threat throughout his privileged life. the two of them would talk about space, bens dreams to be an astronaut, and sometimes minor problems he had at home. for example, if he had an argument with one of his parents. nothing major. they discussed that because ben trusted snoke and thought he'd be potentially helpful. instead, snoke used his position to try and turn ben against his parents. it didn't work, at first. but the more snoke worked his magic words, it made ben begin to question things about his parents that simply weren't true, nor made sense.
concerned about whatever was going on with their son, the solo's started digging into ben's life only to discover from friends that he had a weird relationship with this much older teacher. that set off alarm bells immediately and they definitely feared the worst. leia reported snoke to the police and because of her name, the case was immediately looked into and snoke was swiftly uncovered for what he was.
this eventually culminated in ben starting fights with his parents over very little things, then turning to snoke during the fall out. as snoke sensed he had ben in his grasp, he began to convince the boy that he'd be better off with someone like him as a father. someone like him, who understood science etc. this was all a front to convince ben who was well on his way to getting into CIT to become part of snoke's drug ring as a chemist / cook because he could see the boy had talent in that area, as well as all areas of the sciences. snoke wanted to use him to produce a purer product so that he could gain a higher profit from it. * furthermore, as ben became more stressed out, which was heavily fuelled by Snoke's lies and manipulation. Snoke one day offered Ben a little bit of meth, saying it would calm him down. It did the exact opposite and Ben found himself quickly becoming addicted, so didn't question why Snoke had told him something entirely different.
safe to say ben did not take it well and ended up taking a year out homeschooling to deal with what had happened to him and repair the relationship with his family as well as recover from his addiction.
fortunately, ben did get into CIT and then went on to become a NASA pilot and engineer. snoke still tries to contact him from time to time, but ben has firmly shut him out. the damage is still there, though. he sees a regular therapist when earthbound and takes meds if his anxiety and depression levels wind up. but generally, he leads a pretty decent adult life. he lives close to han and leia and has a husky dog named pluto that he has deemed his child. modern ben also wears glasses / contacts.
* = content added at later date.

Round 1 Gleanings
This isn't a post about who won; I made plenty of those. No, this is a post about records and matters of note, from a massive and thoroughly enjoyable round 1:
Highest voter turn-out:
🏆Group 1: B'Elanna Torres vs. Esmeralda "Granny" Weatherwax with a STUNNING 995 votes
Group 2: Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman vs. Susan Sto Helit with a very respectable 668 votes
Group 3: Phryne Fisher vs. Shauna Sadecki with a whopping 833 votes
Group 4: Daisy Johnson vs. Anne Lister with a still noteable 548 votes
Closest vote:
Group 1: Also B'Elanna Torres vs. Esmeralda "Granny" Weatherwax, at 48.9% vs. 51.1% - that's a difference of 2.2 percentage points
Group 2: Kara Thrace vs. Dr. Addison Montgomery, at 48.7% vs. 51.3%; a difference of 2.6
Group 3: Moiraine Damodred vs. Margaret Houlihan, at 49.6% vs. 50.4%; a difference of only 0.8!
🏆Group 4: Eda Clawthorne vs. Olivia Dunham, also at 49.6 vs. 50.4%/ 0.8 percent points difference! Due to the smaller voter turnout, nly two votes made the difference here!
Clearest winner by margin:
Group 1: Nyota Uhura over Moana, with a 69 percent point lead
Group 2: Siuan Sanche over Jules Callaghan, with a 75 percent point lead
Group 3: Regina Mills over Abigail M. Carmichael, with a 60.6 percent point lead
🏆Group 4: Sophie Devereaux over Anna Mill, with a MASSIVE 86 percent point lead
Clearest winner by absolute number of votes:
🏆Group 1: Leia Organa, with 720 votes
Group 2: Xena, with 357 votes
Group 3: Buffy Summers, with 505 votes
Group 4: Sophie Deveraux, with 494 votes
And last but not least, because I am biased and so so sad - the winner of my heart, who didn't even make it to Round 2 despite being one of THEE most competent characters out there:

2 and 13!
2. What are some common elements of stories you are tired of seeing? What would you avoid writing about?
I'm tired of the romantasy boom. Which is not to say I don't like the idea of romantic fantasy—I in fact want everything I read to be romance—but I'm sick of the same cookie cutter books blowing up. You know the ones. The main character is a Strong Woman™ and her love interest is a Lovable Rogue. They have a whole Han and Leia thing going on. The book is titled "A [Noun] of [Noun] and [Noun]." I guess that's not really an element so much as an entire marketing category.
Oh okay, I thought of one. The Angry Woman. Anger isn't a personality. Write better, thanks.
I personally am uninterested in writing heteronormative stories. I also categorically will not write Women's Fiction. As far as other genres or tropes or whatever, I'm up for most things. My goal is to write a gay romances in every genre. Except Women's Fiction I guess.
13. What traits do you share with your original characters or what traits do you wish you shared with them?
My main characters are almost always anxiety-wracked nerds, so...that. They usually like animals. They're almost all college educated (something I'm intentionally trying to break out of doing!).
I'm not sure if I really want to share a lot of traits with them. Being a dude? My life having a narrative arc? Gordon in my current WIP is going to inherit a bunch of money, so I wouldn't mind that.
Okay, a real one: I wish I was good at taking care of plants as Tad in Strangers to Husbands. I'm turning into a plant person but it remains to be seen if I can keep my plants alive.
Thank you for asking!

WRITEBLR INTRO
🌟🌟⭐Hey, Everybody. My name is Kay Gilbert (Blue Kyber), and welcome to my official Writeblr intro! ⭐🌟🌟
Tumblr media
It's about time I did one of these.
Tumblr media
🌟⭐ ⭐🌟
My official pen name is "Kay Gilbert." You'll find my original works on Wattpad under this name.
🌟 My dad is the reason why I got into sci-fi and fantasy when I was a very little girl. He's always encouraged my creativity. "Out There: The 1K" is dedicated to him.
I go by she/her.
I'm a millennial
I'm demi-heteroromantic-ace. Sex is great and all, but have you tried going off-the-wall bonkers at a trampoline park???
I have ADHD and high functioning autism. I was recently diagnosed in mid Sept. 2022. It's nice to finally know why my life has been so hard, and why I always thought I was a broken human, and "wrong."
📕 I've had a novel published in 2011: "Itara: Son of C'reseth." - a sword and sorcery story. I consider it my biggest accomplishment while simultaneously my biggest failure.
🎙 I'm an audiobook narrator.
I have a spiritual side, yet keep myself based in science.
🎬 I've worked on movie sets and been in a couple of films. I have a music theater background.
I got to meet Carrie Fisher - who was absolutely a pillar of confidence. Princess Leia was the first strong female role model I had.
🌟THINGS I LIKE🌟
STAR WARS. I am an unapologetic nerd who has crushes on both Luke Skywalker and Han Solo.

Tacos are a gift from God. 🌮
🌟My favorite tropes are:🌟
found family
powers
profound bond
chosen one
last of their kind
kind-hearted himbo
reluctant hero/rogue who hates that they have a heart of gold
space jalopy that's a homeship with a soul
the power of platonic love
slow burn.
Tumblr media
🌟⭐MY MAIN WORK. ⭐🌟
"Out There: The 1K." is a sci-fi fantasy adventure novel containing all the aforementioned tropes and more. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the four MCs - (top left to bottom right) Yune Darrak, Selka Kelnaris, Terra Kitridge, and William Kade.
Here's a Link to "Out There: The 1K" on Deviantart under AuthorKayGilbert.
I accepted a challenge to describe my story in the worst way possible, and came up with this:
It's about a reluctant disaster space found family running from people out to throw two Terran-human ten-year-olds with powers from an extinct human species at their collective galactic problem.
🌟⭐🌟SYNOPSIS🌟⭐🌟
One thousand children prophesied to save a galaxy embroiled in war are taken from Earth at the turn of the 21st century. The children are scattered throughout Alliance worlds to hide them from the terrifying, unseen antagonistic force that would destroy them, the keth.
This story follows the frightening and fantastical adventures of two of those children - Will and Terra - who are genetically altered to possess a strange power for a plan to end the war.
Yune Darrak - a lone spaceship pilot who ekes out a living as a salvager, bounty hunter, and treasure hunter, and Selka Kelnaris - a disillusioned, empathic, Ai Hiri bounty hunter - accidentally rescue them from a Regent secret lab while on a bounty hunt. They travel to a remote agrarian planet where Yune will hand the kids over to Selka once he gets her ship back from the planet's leader, so he can get his life back. A simple plan spirals into a deep, confusing mess involving a mysterious blue light known as the Source Field, a political coup, and more questions about the kids and Yune himself as all four are inadvertently caught up in the middle of a battle they never wanted to fight.

Prompt: Hyde finally moves out of the Forman’s house, and how red and kitty would react
Hyde had been packing his stuff out of his room for the past several minutes. He couldn’t believe that he was moving out. The Formans were like family to him for the past few years. It still felt like yesterday that Forman offered him a place to stay and now he’s moving into his own house to be with Jackie.
He heard someone’s footsteps and saw that it was Eric. “Hey Forman. I thought you were in Chicago.” After Eric married Donna, they both went back to Chicago with Leia. Red was proud of his son for being independent but Kitty was a blubbering mess and wanted her baby boy to stay. She was already a mess when Laurie left and got married.
“My flight isn’t until a few hours. So you’re leaving?” Hyde exhaled, “Yeah. Me and Jackie found a place to live. It’s only a few blocks away.” Eric nodded slowly, “That’s great man. I’m happy for you.” Hyde nodded. Despite their moments, Eric has always been like a brother to him from the day they met. “How’s Leia?”
“Great! She actually said her first word: Star Trek.” Eric put a hand on his heart and teared up. “It was the greatest day of my life.” Hyde gave him a look that implied he didn’t believe him. Eric groaned, “Fine, her first word was mom.” Hyde shook his head, “I knew it man. Just because you named her after a Star Wars character, doesn’t mean she’s a nerd.” Eric nodded, “I actually feel a lot better now about you moving out.”
“You’re moving out?” The boys turned to see Red and Kitty standing in the basement. Eric gulped, "I'm gonna...go check on Leia right now." He scurried past his parent in a jiffy, leaving the three alone. Kitty looked sad while Red's face looked unreadable. Hyde gulped, “Yeah. Me and Jackie found a place to live. It’s close by but not in Point Place.” Red nodded, “I’m proud of you son. Takes a lot to do what you’re doing.”
Hyde nodded, “Thanks Red.” Kitty began to cry and latched onto Hyde. “My other baby boy is leaving me. All my babies will be gone. They won’t be in the house anymore.” Red began to stroke Kitty’s shoulder. Jackie then entered the basement, dragging her suitcase. “Steven?” Hyde looked at her in awe. That was the woman he was going to spend the rest of his life with. “Jackie…” Jackie came over and kissed him. “Are you ready?” Hyde looked around at his family. “Just a sec. You can head to the car.” Jackie nodded and kissed him again. She gave the Formans a hug, heading to the car.
Kitty was sobbing and held onto him. “Whenever you need me, I’ll come over. Just call me, please.” Hyde hugged her back. Kitty squeezed onto him tighter. “Mrs.Forman, I can’t breathe.” Red pat his wife on the shoulder. “Honey.” Kitty let go of him and sighed. She wiped her tears. Red looked at Hyde. “We’re proud of you Steven. Take care. You and the loud one.” Kitty nodded, “Yes, you and Jackie take care.” She said while sobbing.
Jackie nodded, “Thank you Mr and Mrs.Forman. And you can visit us anytime.” Kitty sobbed and leapt into Jackie’s arms. “Mrs.Forman…” Kitty sniffed, “I’ll miss you so much.” Jackie nodded, “Me too.” Kitty let go and Jackie headed towards Hyde. He put his arm around her and they walked off together, giving their foster parents one last look right before walking upstairs. “This is it.” Jackie stated. Hyde nodded, “Yeah doll.” He put his arm around her as they looked back at the basement entrance. They exhaled and walked out the back door.
Edit: now on AO3

3, 6, 13, 15, 16, 24, 29, 33, 39 for the Star Wars ask meme! GIVE ME ALL OF THE INFORMATION~!
aaaaaaaah so many numbers!! but I will GLADLY answer everything! 😁
3. Favorite character from the prequels: ANAKIN OF COURSE. I had a HUGE crush on him (and both of his actors) when I was younger. he quite quickly became my favorite character of all time after watching the original trilogy, so I have to say him for this 💙
6. Do you have any ships?: a few, yes!! mainly the ones that are canon, like Han/Leia, Cut/Suu, and Anakin/Padme, or ones that were semi-canon like Obi-Wan/Satine and Rey/Finn (despite what anyone says otherwise!!). there's also some that I wouldn't be mad about like Fennec/Boba and Din/Bo-Katan. my OTP though? Kanan/Hera. by FAR. like legit, that is one of my top OTPs in general. I love them so much 🥺💙
13. Would you want to be a Force user?: YES. VERY MUCH SO. being an empathetic and neurodivergent person, I often feel like I have "special powers" like Force users do. and who wouldn't want to be able to make stuff float all the time? (also, just sayin', if anyone has read any recent MLWTBB stuff, then this answer shouldn't be any surprise 😜)
15. Did you play any Star Wars video games?: yes!! I've played all the LEGO games and still play the newest one to this day 😁 also, the Podracer game for N64, Rogue Squadron for Gamecube (didn't care for that one though 😝), Battlefront 1&2 (2 is better!! and I LOVE the story for that one!!), and Squadrons! we owned both of the Force Unleashed games at one point, but I never tried playing them cause my bro said they were bad LOL. also, we own Fallen Order, but my bro said it's basically unplayable due to loading times, even on our PS5 😩
16. Have you read any Star Wars books?: only a few. I've read Phasma (my longest sigh ever 😞), Before The Awakening (the Poe story is the best!!), and some of the Breakout Squad books! I also have the first Poe Dameron comic, and LOTS of visual guides 😌
24. Would you want to be human, or from another species?: well I kept myself as human in MLWTBB so 😬 my favorite species are Devaronians though, so if I could be anything else, it would be that 😋
29. Which character doesn't get enough credit or screentime?: there's honestly a lot of characters I could put here, but I'm going to be completely biased and say Phasma and Crosshair. as much as I had... feelings about the Phasma book, herself as a character was one of the only interesting things in that entire story. she absolutely fascinates me and is such an interesting villain; that story really drives home just how cruel and selfish she is. also I just adore her and want to see more of her 😩🙏🏻 and I shouldn't even have to explain myself for Crosshair. he's one of the most interesting characters EVER created for SW. I want an entire series about that man. GIVE ME MORE OF HIM DANG IT 😤
33. Which movie have you watched the most?: honestly? it's probably The Phantom Menace. I've watched the original trilogy several times, but overall I'd say TPM has all three of those movies beat. mainly cause my bro liked to watch it as a kid haha
39. If you wrote a 'fix-it fic', what would you write about?: funny you should ask! I actually already am writing a fix-it fic! 😌 this isn't spoilers cause I've already talked about it before, but I'm changing Plan 99 for MLWTBB. despite wanting to keep that series as close to the show as possible, I simply can't remove Tech from the story. despite whatever might happen in season 3, Tech is making it out of Plan 99 in one piece. I've actually already written several chapters in this far-off future fic and have most of the rest of it planned out. idc if I have to completely alter the events of season 3 because of this, I refuse to lose my favorite nerd tyvm 😤 honestly, at this point, it's not even so much me condemning the choices of the writers, it's me showing grace and love to the character. Tech literally changed my life in the absolute best way possible, and I can't let anything bad happen to him because of that 🥺💙

Given how you mentioned the Disney sequels in my last last question, I'm curious what you think of the sequel trilogy as a whole 4 years later. Also what you make of the rey movie that's suppose to happen?
It's funny timing. I've been watching the Lucas sextilogy and Star Wars meta on YouTube. Particularly, So Uncivilized is a fascinating meta analyst, and I rewatched this tonight:
youtube
As for my thoughts...
When I saw TFA opening night and noticed it rehashed everything and added nothing, I lost investment. By "lose investment," I don't mean I got bitter, unhappy, jaded, cynical, etc. I mean that I was in a fine mood, perfectly chill, had fun, but I no longer carried anticipation or expectations for future projects. I could tell this was not a good foundation and was an omen for future creative issues. Thus, when the second and third movies came out, I didn't feel disappointed, but their content meant I found increasing distance between myself, the characters, and the story. I didn't mind The Rise of Skywalker was bad. I got my recreation's use out of it. The direct relationship I had with it was the time I spent watching it once (1).
But even though I didn't agree with 90% of the trilogy's premises and executions, I made sure to see TLJ and Rise of Skywalker. After all, watching these movies was the door into some of the best media discussions I've had in my life.
I was invited to a winter party with about two dozen attendees. Most ended in the kitchen to debate TLJ, which had just released. We got so animated we had to do the old "pass the ball" trick, where only the person holding the ball could talk. It was one of the most in-depth, eye-opening, fascinating, multi-faceted, engaging media discussions I've had. Everyone had different but extraordinary insight to relay about subversions of expectations, underlying messages, contributions to the franchise, scene composition, editing, dialogue, characterization, symbolism, you name it.
When the final movie came out, conversations again were endlessly fruitful. No matter who I talked to, I could hear something new and enlightening about media through the lens of Rise of Skywalker.
There's nothing I hate about the movies. I don't think about them much. Star Wars to me is pre-Disney reboot. That's the territory my heart cares about. That's the territory that's Real. But I also have fun talking about Kylo Ren or Hux as any Star Wars nerd who likes those characters. I feel no bitter emotions, but positive ones, when anyone brings up TFA and thereafter.
My perspective, several years later, hasn't changed.
Now, I love how meta analysts have enhanced my perspective. I love people pointing out that the original and prequel trilogies introduced a huge number of ship and location designs, whereas the sequel trilogy... didn't. I love So Uncivilized's analysis that each movie in the sequel trilogy was a counter to a counter, until we ended up with a course correction of a course correction of a course correction of a course correction. Or, as he said, this sequel trilogy was intended to keep the franchise alive for another generation, but "to keep a creative work alive, you have to create things, and it's clear looking at this trilogy that nothing was built here."
Fans have endlessly talked about how there was no cohesion between movies in this trilogy and how its characterization and plot were a mess. How the movies were too reliant on old nostalgia. How showboating old characters prevented our new character trio from receiving agency and direction. I don't need to go there.
There's a reason we viewers remember the names of Kylo Ren and Rey and Poe and Finn. In their imperfect appearances, we saw characters that could have enlivened us to the same levels as Luke, Leia, Han, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme. I like Kylo Ren. I like Poe. I like Finn. They are appealing concepts.
But. But. I think the sequel trilogy, and Disney's over-saturation of materials, will fade over time, whereas the original six movies (I said original six, nyeh) WILL stand the test of time as classics. Just because VI-IX have "Episode" to their title doesn't mean they'll get saved from the endless mire Disney has manifested unto itself; nearly all live action materials from the 2010s and 2020s will end in late-Star Wars Disnified goop, to be lost in collective memory over time. That's not intended to be an insult; I just think that one is a short phenomenon that'll fade once contemporary sensations satiate, whereas the others are proven longevity.
There's bias in the sense I haven't watched anything outside of VI-IX and Rogue One. I've never seen The Mandalorian, or Andor, or Ahsoka, or anything else. I haven't felt the need to, so I won't. Heck, I didn't know about this alleged Rey movie thing - your comment is the first I've heard. So I have no perspective there except, "This isn't material I think needs to exist, and I'd rather go back to (and produce things like) the old." Disney's commercialized mania isn't a success to me. No ill feelings, just simple personal disinterest. It's not part of the imagination fuel I use when I fuel my imagination on Star Wars. And the sequel trilogy is something I frankly already forget about when I imagine the vast, captivating, thrilling world of Star Wars.
The legacy of the sequel trilogy isn't its story. Yet. There's real value in the sequel trilogy, and I believe it. It's perfect for analyzing media. It's a perfect medium for discussion. What went right, what didn't go right, what was compelling, what was disappointing, what was misguided, what lost focus, what never had focus, I will always find these movies valuable for that. And the thing is, I think we'll be talking about that for a while yet. Because it's fruitful. It's endlessly interesting.
Whether or not it's good media content in and of itself, it's GOOD CONVERSATION CONTENT.
