I kinda just want to show what I’m working on right now
it’s a ✨dst mod for my rusty lake oc✨!
I feel like most of the rusty lake community doesn’t play dst (Don’t Starve Together), but I felt like it would be nice to show what I’m up to.
What do I have now:
Well not much, only like 95% of assets of Matthias himself, character voice and few quotes
Plans that I have with this mod:
Add Harvey
Make Harvey follow Matthias (and possibly add stuff like that he can pick up things or stun mobs (and maybe make a little bag, that Matthias can craft, that lets Harvey carry stuff))
Have some use for the book (I have no clue how it’s called, the one that is in ce: cave (the cool one with the cube on cover)) (not sure what I want to do with it, so if you have some ideas, do tell)
Make Matthias not be attacked by tallbirds and other avian beings
Make Matthias unable to attack avian beings (and if he manages to kill them somehow, add extreme sanity drain)
Maybe add some skins
Make Matthias lose sanity quite easily
I will probably do some dev updates (if you can call it that lul) over time
Stuff to note:
I work extremely slowly and I am a master at procrastinating (and INTP lul), so updates will be released randomly and there is also a small chance, that I might lose interest in making the mod
If you have ideas for the mod (like what to add and stuff), I would love to hear them
I do all the stuff myself, so yeah the development may be slow (yes my art is quite bad)
I never programmed in lua, so again, development may be slow
Not sure if I’ll ever release this mod on steam, since this is more of a personal project, that I kinda want to show others

gonna talk abt my breton criminal & dragonborn isabeau... the oldest of my currently existing ocs... here's an old as balls and somewhat outdated screenshot of her <3
anyway answers under the cut!
4. how crafty/resourceful are they?
she's more crafty than resourceful i think. if that makes sense. not sure abt the nuances and differences between these two words lmao but like... resourcefulness is more about the ability to improvise using whatever resources are currently available right? and craftiness is like cunning?? so basically isabeau prefers to use her craftiness to gather information and plan carefully and make backup plans so that she won't end up in a situation where she has to improvise. obviously that doesn't always work out but it's her preferred modus operandi!
she is however resourceful in her usage of her connections across the province! be it members of other factions or fellow criminals or guards she has bribed/blackmailed or nobles she has convinced into an alliance.. beau knows how to pull strings to get things done!
9. favorite food? least favorite? are they a picky eater? do they have any dietary restrictions?
she doesn't have any dietary restrictions but she is a picky eater! growing up in a province known for its exquisite cuisine and being raised a privileged noble has made her snobby about many things including food. nordic cabbage potato soup is the most disgusting thing she has ever eaten. the nords do make good bread though
beau's favorite food is any fancy breton food, especially seafood! the thing she misses the most about high rock is ze cuisine... nordic food is just boring compared to it. it's nutritious. but bland. just like irl
14. are they any good with numbers?
hm. i don't think abt my ocs' math skills much bc i'm personally bad with numbers and would rather not think about them lmao. however i know that isabeau is the one oc who is actually really good with numbers! her parents hired a tutor to teach her like. finance management stuff. as a kid. so that she'd be of some use to the family after her utter lack of magical talent became apparent. she found the lessons boring but had a head for these things and the tutoring proved useful later in life after she became the leader of the thieves guild hehe!

Who's your favourite sim that you've made?
it's a tie between my 2 little meow meows pictured above 🥺
amir because he's the oc i'm most attached to and have most fully developed
vlad because i just love the way his sim turned out and he's such a fun character to think about
if they ever met, vlad would be like "greetings." and amir would be like "bro what the fucckkk" 😭
speaking of vampires i also love the idea of au-vampire-amir being this ashamed, existential crisis having vegetarian vampire who struggles with controlling and hiding his bloodlust.

What's your favourite Sims death?
it's been YEARS since i intentionally made any of sims die. i barely do gameplay these days and i am attached to the sims i make. but when i used to play sims chaotically, i preferred to "accidentally" murder sims by fire instead of deleting the pool ladder. i would furnish their houses with the cheapest stoves and fireplaces, and sit back and watching the inevitable unfold... it was the final destination fan in me.

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?
i've always preferred creating masculine male sims/characters, that hasn't changed throughout the years. i've learned how to take better pictures, how to style my sims better, how to create the kinds of clothes i want to style them in, and i've learned my preferred slider settings and facial features/proportions. i make the same "genre" of male sims over and over and over again, so my style hasn't really changed, but my skills have improved and i've solidified my aesthetic which i am proud of :D
Who's your favourite CC creator?
i really can't pick a favourite because there is just so much sheer talent and a thriving cc community even today, but if i had to pick one, i would say rustynail. i used the shit out of their cc back in the day. everything my sims wore was straight off the runway darling... rusty brought glamour and high fashion to the sims! an inspiration.
How long have you had a simblr?
since even before 2013 😭 tumblr was my main social media for many years LMFAOOOOO and i made a simblr after following many ts3 blogs, being wowed by their screenshots, and i wanted to join in on the fun and wanted to download all the cool cc people were making... that was the start of my ts3 obsession !
How do you edit your pictures?
i use a gshade preset i made, then i mostly just crop and add text in gimp. i don't have the patience to edit my pics.
What expansion/ stuff pack is your favourite?
late night duh and seasons is a close second because it just makes the game so much more immersive and beautiful. pets is also a top one because it adds so much to the game, it's such a well thought out pack in my opinion, and what life simulator can be complete without pets?

Whats your fanfic going to be about? I would love to read it!
I'm probably not going to post it on this account, mainly because it's something I just want to do to practice since my writing is a bit rusty atm and I keep getting stuck on worldbuilding in my origonal fiction works lol. (I have done a lot of writing over the last few years, but its all been done in script format, so I'm out of practice for normal story/book format writing and I want to get back into that).
In saying that though, The one I want to write first is about my Skyrim OC, an Argonian named Kaj. According to Elder-scrolls lore, all the argonians are connected to a species of super-intelligent trees called the Hist. The hist use the argonians as protection and the argonians rely on the hist to help them grow and mature. There's a fan-theory I'm quite fond of though that says there's an off-shoot Hist tree in you can find in Skyrim that's (probably) disconnected from the rest of the Hist and Argonians, and I thought it would be neat to explore what an argonian connected to this hist might be like. I've played Kaj a few times now, and she almost always starts off as a serious spell-sword type character looking for her lost brother who always devolves into "a klutz who's just really good at failing upwards and somehow ends up leader of every guild despite being terrible" because Skyrim is a glitchy mess (made worse by my mods lol) that doesn't let you fail. I head-cannon this as the Hist (and probably a few gods too, since she's dragonborn) desperately trying to keep her alive until she can fight Alduin, but she's just completely obvious to danger and thinks she's just that good at everything. I felt like it would be something fun and (mostly) light-heated to start out on.
I've actually done some art of her before (I call her Niijk in that post, it's the same character though, that's her old name). I probably won't link to the fic about her directly, but if I do more art, I'll post that here along with the fic name (I'd do that now but I don't know what I'm going to call it yet lol)
I also want to do some other fics a bit later on which I've been told fit into the "fix it" genre of fanfic, showing examples of how to improve the disability rep in some media properties I really like. I've been planning on doing those before I knew they counted as fan fiction lol, and I probably will link to those since they are pretty similar to what I make here, but I want to practice a bit first.

Did anyone report the night there were two Batmans? The original one and the little one that's probably Nightwing. I saw it on BatWatch but I know a lot of people forget to check it.
I can't remember what they were doing, but it was really weird to see.
Small Batman (who is probably Nightwing) is really only seen when Normal Batman has been injured. Personally, I would assume that Small Batman (who is probably Nightwing) was trying to get Normal Batman to return home and rest. -Mod Rusty

Dev Update
After a week of being ill, I did some little bit of programming
What does this dev update contain?
Matthias doesn’t scare birds away
He doesn’t get attacked by tallbirds, malbatross and moose/goose (didn’t test moose/goose yet, but it should work), but he gets attacked by other avians that are hostile
If Matthias manages to kill a bird, he loses 40 sanity (he is still able to attack them, because I didn’t find any tutorials for it on klei forums and I have no clue how to make him unable to attack birds lul)
Also added few more examination quotes

Sunflower - What name(s) were you originally thinking of calling your OC?
God, it's been so long since I made Cyrus, I can't remember anything else I considered? I initially made him ~2017 as the twin brother of my other Hawke, Belladonna, for an inquisitor!Hawke AU*. I wanted to give him a 'C' name to match with Carver, since I already had Belladonna & Bethany, as well as something sufficiently fantasy-ish and soft-sounding for my gold-hearted hunk of a warrior.** I might've also considered Cyril?
*No one asked but I had to abandon that idea after this version of Cyrus proved to be too much of a stabilizing influence on this version of Belladonna, countering her penchant for self-destruction to such a degree that the original character stopped working. I don't think I'll ever write them together again, but with their new and improved 2024 characterizations, they'd definitely make each other worse, not better.
**Original Cyrus was also human, bald, and heavily bearded asofjpf there were some. adaptations. when I decided to reuse him for sapphim & vaelsmod's (then) recently released Playable Elfs mod.
Violet - Do a voice claim for your OC?
I really like Nicholaus Boulton's voice acting for m!Hawke, it's hard for me to imagine anything different for Cyrus! I love that he also does the voice for Malcolm in the Legacy DLC, since Cyrus desperately wants to have his father's deep voice, whether via imitation pre-voice drop magic or approximation through voice drop magic. Also @/zevsurana has some great posts about how... performative and strained m!Hawke's red dialogue options sound, which I love as an additional detail for Act 3/post-Kirkwall!Cyrus & ranger!Cyrus. To the extent that the anger and aggression are real, they're also very much a coping & protective mechanism to try to keep himself safe.
Side note, now that I'm finally spending some time with another BG3 OC, it's wild how different some of the acting direction is across the voice presets. Voice 7 (Cyrus' voice) sounds way more tired & done with things than Yiseeril's voice (8). It's very fitting, especially for ranger!Cyrus.
Wisteria - Does your OC have a skill they'd like to learn? What is stopping them?
Varies depending on version/setting
When he's living in Val Royeaux between games, DA2!Cyrus spends a lot of time being frustrated that his brash sword & shield skill set isn't well-suited for Orlais. He tries to learn some more subtle rogue maneuvers from Varric & Zevran, but he never takes to it, being so utterly antithetical to how he's fought & conducted himself for all his life.
Both paladin versions of BG3!Cyrus (so pallybarb/Karlach & Halsin romancing timeline, and shadow sorc/Astarion romancing/turns into a sword timeline) want to further develop their Elvish, as it's a skill that has turned quite rusty in the ~century since his parents died. Pallybarb!Cyrus has a very willing & eager teacher in Halsin, though going to the Hells with Karlach has paused their lessons for the time being. Meanwhile, shadow sorc!Cyrus is a bit too distracted with the. Nonstop existential body horror that is this version of the game for him, so it's not something he's pursuing right now.
And ranger!Cyrus wants to learn to dance!! Though he has a complicated relationship with it, he loved dancing with Wyll sosososo much and wants to be able to do it well to give Wyll the dance partner he deserves and so they can show off in front of the other Baldurian nobles.
