V is the seventh member to have a solo release. The creation of the whole album featured Min Heejin (src). She explained she wanted to keep things simple to better show V's splendor (src).

There are also several appearances from Yeontan, V's pomeranian. Note however that he was replaced by another dog in "Rainy Days" MV because V couldn't take him to Spain (src). The dog in question is named Rocky and has an Instagram.

On the pre-order notice, we have a glimpse of a handwritten letter from V. Lyssy translated it here.

An exclusive photocard was featured if you bought the album at Barnes and Noble (src). The back shows the songs, not in the album order but in the release order (cr.). Another photocard shows a fake tickets with easter eggs like V's birthday (December, 30) or the release date of Layover (September 8, 2023) (src).

Bangtan Greenhouse made threads identifying the plants appearing in the pictures: plants in Photo 1, plants in Photo 2.

Concerning the two car posters, they show the custom Porsche 911SC made by Denny Kahler in 1987 (src) and a Ferrari Testarossa from 1984.

In this picture, V also wears an outfit reminding of Angus Young, the guitarist of AC/DC. The fact he has a guitar in one of the pictures accentuates the nod.

Most pictures were taken between Yeonnam-dong and Yeonhui-dong, in the northwest of Seoul. They notably went to the shop 사운즈굿 (SOUNDS GOOD STORE, they posted on Instagram) (src #1), to 매덕스피자 (Maddux Pizza) (src #1), to 미도파 (Midopa coffee house) (src #1, src #2, src #3, src #4), a cafe that was holding an exposition titled Videorama during the shooting (see their Instagram post) and to 피프에스프레소바 (Pfiff Espresso Bar).

The picture taken in the middle of a street in the second series was snapped here (src). As for the next one, it was taken nearby and there's another one taken two steps away, right in front of the gas station. And the two pictures with a vegetal background were taken on the street behind (here (src) and here). Please refer to this Google map (Chapter 2 > Layover's concept photo), for the location of these different places.

Thanks to the testimony of the owners and based on V's outfit, @jellda0 managed to reconstitute the path the team may have followed during the shooting.

The MV was filmed in the penthouse of the Torres Blancas in Madrid (src).

The video starts with the following text:

When you listen really carefully Loops go wheeling Cozy and stuck,

The birds fly in a V formation but backward to what they would do naturally (the point of the V is supposed to be at the front, not the opposite, though it can happen as a transitory thing). Several people interpreted it in relation to the lyrics about being stuck in the past.

The cartoon we see at 1:33 is an episode from Mighty Mouse titled "Wolf! Wolf!", released in the 1940s. A lamb is tricked into a wolf's den by following jazz music, reminding of the Pied Piper of Hamelin story.

The next extract shows a red fox cub from a European documentary released in the 1970s (and now available as a stock video on Shutterstock).

Lastly, the blooming rose comes from this stock video.

All the videos show symbols reminding The Little Prince (cr.). The Little Prince asks the narrator to draw a lamb, he becomes friends with a fox and he loves a rose. You can check @JKs_Waist's thread on Twitter for more details.

Several hints show V is an animator and his flat is his studio. @ halogen_803 made a great thread about it.

V uses a baguette to paint. On the left, you can notice a rotating picture that seems to come from the concept photo.

Ruggie: Thanks! Hehehe, birthdays are the best.

You know, I gave birthday presents to a whole lot of people.

‘Cause obviously I wanted to celebrate my friends’ special days...

...Yeah right! It was so they’d get me something back on mine!!

They’re all spoiled rotten, so their gifts are always way more expensive than the ones I give ‘em.

Last year I got so much stuff that both my arms were full! I’m psyched for this year~!

What are some birthday memories you have with your family?

Ruggie: Family, huh...? Well, my mom went to live among the stars in the sky shortly after she had me...

And my dad went away for work and never came back. No clue what he’s up to now.

All my memories are really made up of times with my grandma.

Back then we were struggling just to put food on the table. We couldn’t get fancy birthday cakes or anything.

So instead, I looked forward to the donuts she’d make for me every year.

Flaky on the outside, fluffy on the inside! They’ve got a simple taste of home and I could eat them over and over.

After I started taking part-time jobs, we were able to afford some better ingredients.

That let us jazz ‘em up a little by pouring melted chocolate over them or topping them with almonds.

We’re comfortable enough to buy actual cakes now, but those donuts are what I really crave on my birthday.

Your grandma sounds wonderful.

Ruggie: Hehe, doesn’t she? She’s sweet and kind but also really tough. I’m proud to call her my grandma.

Chapter 2

—SAVANACLAW DORM - BIRTHDAY PARTY VENUE—

What’s your favorite food?

Ruggie: I was just talking about them a second ago: donuts!

I mean, I’d be more than happy to wolf down the bones along with my meat, as long as they’re not rotten.

...Huh? Wait, do you think I’m joking?

Hyenas like me have jaws strong enough to chew through thick bones, not just the meat.

Don’t believe me? Treat me to some bone-in meat sometime. I’ll eat the whole thing in front of you, bone and all!

Do you have anything that’s important to you?

Ruggie: MONEY!!

Anything besides that?

Ruggie: Ehh? Uh, I guess the other thing would be my warthog piggy bank.

I picked it up when I was a kid after I’d found it dumped outside some rich family’s place.

I took it down to a junk dealer thinking I could sell it, but it had no value so I ended up keeping it.

It’s got a function where it’ll swallow any coins you put in its mouth and then start talking or singing to you in this happy voice.

Kinda like we’re both excited about saving money... so I started to get attached to it.

I heard there’s a meerkat version in the same series.

Someday I’d love to get that one and put ‘em next to each other.

Chapter 3

—SAVANACLAW DORM - BIRTHDAY PARTY VENUE—

What’s your opinion on your dorm leader?

Ruggie: What? On Leona-san? Uh, let’s see...

I feel like he’s really comfortable bossing people around ‘cause he grew up with a bunch of servants.

He works us to the bone, but I get good benefits that make it all worth it.

What kind of benefits?

Ruggie: First is the financial part. Leona-san’s always giving me stuff he doesn’t need anymore, and that actually helps me out a ton!

I keep the stuff I can use, and then the rest I sell—er, hand off to people who need ‘em.

Second is the learning part. He explains anything I didn’t understand in class to pay me back for all the work I do.

The only stuff I knew before coming to Night Raven College was what I needed to survive.

I had no idea how to do this so-called “studying” thing, so at first my grades were terrible.

But Leona-san gave me study aids, problems from past exams, and lots of guidance... and now my grades are right below average!

Impressive, yeah? I worked so hard climbing up from the lowest of low~

Just goes to show how important it is to stay connected with powerful people. Always gotta see what you can use to benefit yourself.

How do you spend your long holidays?

Ruggie: Hmm, besides visiting home, I keep myself busy with jobs. I take a lot of live-in jobs that come with three meals a day.

Like in the summer, I’ll be part of the restaurant staff at a resort, or in the winter I’ll be a ski instructor in the mountains.

It’s really fun to meet all kinds of new people there, like the staff and customers.

Thanks to this, I’ve picked up basic greetings and phrases for bargaining in over ten different languages.

I’ve even run into famous sorcerers before, so it’s really useful for building your network!

[Dystopia : The Tree of Language] by Dreamcatcher - Album Review

So I’m finallly doing this! To be honest, after Deja Vu, my expectations for this comeback were extremely high and I was hoping to see something quite amazing from the girls and, to be fair, I believe they totally delivered. Not only were the teasers for this album absolutely beautiful and ethereal, very unique, in my opinion, they also went on a slightly different direction music wise, as this album isn’t as dark as the rest of Dreamcatcher’s discography, but still has their flavour.

I would like to also add that this is only my opinion. Please, don’t take any of what I say too personal.

Intro (1:20) : This is a very short track and it feels quite menacing to listen to, a bit like a horror movie OST, but the good type. It gave me chills, but left me thrilled from what it was going to come next, especially as it softens it’s melody completely in the end.

Scream (3:24) : I want to talk about the music video, the choreography and the lyrics regarding this track as I believe they all add to the full experience. So the MV was preceded with wonderful teasers about the story of this particular album and as a sucker for things like this, I fell immediatly in love with those, which led me to fall head over heels with the video. Aesthetic wise, I couldn’t ask for anything more, besides that I wish some scenes were recorded outside of a studio. Apart from this, the colours, clothes, hairstyles and shots are absolutely amazing. Gahyeon was the one who caught my eye the most this time around, specially in her part at 1:30 and 2:17. The plot wasn’t completely understandable throughout the music video, but I believe that is for Insomnias and other viewers to make theories of their own.

The choreography is so powerful and much more sensual, in the chorus mostly, compared to their previous ones. I think they absolutely did amazing and, once again, pulled this concept really well. Not only this, but they’ve also managed to incorporate Handong’s position in it, which is truly a really sweet thing from them. I think it’s better seen in the 'Scream' Dance Video (연습실 ver.) , as the girl with the mask on represents Handong.

When it comes to the song, this is obviously very different from, for example, Deja Vu and PIRI. Even so, this has quickly become one of my favourite comebacks from them. Vocal wise, Siyeon and Yoohyeon did amazing and sing beautifully and powerfully, while Gahyeon and Dami absolutely destroyed in an awesome way with both of her rap bits. The song is quite balanced and the build-up is really well done, while the drop that follows makes everything so much more enjoyable.

Lyrically, the song tells the story of someone who goes through a lot of pain to want to inflict the same damage on their perpretator. It goes from someone who was compeltely terrified from another person to want to defend themselves and stand up to their abuse. My personal favourite is:

“Tricks behind the mask, ridiculous freaks The growing hatred gives birth to random targets I swallow up the burning thirst but hypocrisy says it’s my fault The end is sitting at the edge of a cliff It’ll be a choice that only remains regret “

Tension (3:11) : Ah, the beginning of this song alone left me thrilled, the guitars made it so awesome! Listening to the song, it feels a bit like something that would fit really well in one of their first albuns and that sort of feeling of nostalgia makes the track quite enjoyable. I don’t think this one is very memorable though, as fun as it is. The build up gets tiring after a while, but, nonetheless, still a really good song. It also reminds me a lot of those old anime intros for a shounen genre anime type!

Red Sun (3:05) : This is by far my favourite song of the whole album. It’s absolutely amazing just from the start it has, it feels creepy, reminding a bit of Chase Me or GOOD NIGHT eras. Afterwards that, Dami comes and completely wrecks the listener, she sounds powerful, sexy and amazing. I think the main reason for this to be my favourite is because it mixes a lot of favourites from Dreamcatcher. It captures that sentiment of eeriness, while having a sort of fun, but calm type of melody in it’s chorus, reminding me a lot of Wonderland and July 7th . This is a track I definitely recommend listening to.

Black or White (3:24) : This song is so cool and I believe it goes well with the vibe that the group initially had on their debut. It’s a bit different from Scream but it still has the power and tenacity one expects from Dreamcatcher. The chorus is extremely catchy and fun, in my opinion, and Dami’s parts, as well with Siyeon’s and Yoohyeon’s, are definitely my favourites. The only complain I have is that when the melody softens, the song kind of loses the grip it once had on the listener in the beginning.

Jazz Bar (3:34) : The title is completely appropriate as it truly feels like I’m listening to this song in a badly lighten bar, smoke clouds surrounding me, a wine glass in my hand, while watching these beautiful women perform a lovely song, calmly and elegantly singing. My biggest criticism with this track would be the fact that Black or White creates a lot of momento and excitement that is lost with the quietness of this song.

SAHARA (3:10) : I really wanted to like this song as, except for the chorus, this is something rather different from what they’ve done before, but I genuinely feel this track comes off as a bit messy and kind of cringy in my opinion. The best part for this song and for sure, the most epic of it, was from minute 2:45. The momento is slowly build up and things get cooler, to only end very shortly after.

In the Frozen (3:16) : The beginning of this song does not prepare the listener for the amount of noise that the track itself has. However, it can still be enjoyable. To be honest, the first time, I listened to this, I got a major headache from the chorus alone, but it’s still quite awesome and the vocals mixed with those sounds work just fine. Just like the previous song, it starts getting real good in the end, to just be ruined with this dubstep mess, sigh. I do not advise you to listen to this, if you are a bit sensitive as I am.

Daybreak (3:03) : Once again, a bit like Jazz Bar, this track breaks the mold of the album with it’s calm and soothing melody. To be fair, it was a genius take to put it after In The Frozen, as it will heal the headache you’ll get. Anyway, Daybreak is a good, cute and addicting song. The girls sing in a very delicate way as if they are almost trying not to hurt the one listening in some instances.

Full Moon (3:09) : This song is a bit of a Chase Me 2.0 in a softer light and I love it for that. I truly loved that song and I’m happy that sort of vibe and metal-ish sound is back in a track. I kind of wish that the song would have been a bit longer as I feel like it was rather short and could have been developed a bit more, but even so, the chorus and bridge sounded amazing.

Outro (1:03) : Compared to the Intro, this “last” track is much calmer. I believe it ends the album well, still having that eerie vibe that mostly followed each song here.

Paradise (4:03) : I wanted this ballad to be much more than it is. As soon as I listened the first bit I was a bit unimpressed, but it grew a lot in me throught the many, many versions that were posted by HappyFace Entertainment on Youtube (White Version, Black Version, Piano Version and Original Version). The chorus can become quite tiring after a while, but I understand why many loved this song as Siyeon won the lyrics and beat very well with her vocals. My criticism goes mostly towards to how boring it sounds, despite the quick rhythm. It just feels very generic to me.

Rating: 8/10

Avengers: Iron Grid – An Endgame Review.

While I dubbed Avengers: Infinity War as “Thanos the Movie” and Ms. Marvel as “GTV – Grand Theft Vers” I can definitely title this recent Marvel film as Iron Grid.

Let me explain, another name for American Football is, well, football or Gridiron, tweaked the name a bit to sound cooler and voila, we have Iron Grid.

It’d be explained at the spoiler part of the review. under the cut

A direct contrast to Ms. Marvel’s movie, this movie evokes all kinds of emotions throughout its 3 hour run: laughter, sympathy, pity, sadness, and anguish among many others.

From how Scott Lang learned of “The Vanished” (maybe part of the 50% who vanished were creative people because that wasn’t creative at all) to the funny moments and shenanigans his brand of humor has contributed to his own film and the MCU as a whole.

But damn those CG smiles on Ms Marvel’s face tho.

Overall a 7 out of 10 movie for me, while pacing is improved from past Marvel films, its still suffers from the “too many characters” syndrome. The movie does put Tony, Thor, Steve, and weirdly enough Scott, to the center stage but that’s all. We’ve got an exposition drop about one of the characters and then that scene happened.

First off, Post – Snap Thanos was killed way too easily. I don’t care what you say about Ms Marvel but she ain’t the G.O.A.T around here. I can buy that he was caught off guard but she should have gotten out of her hold easily before Bruce nside the Hulk Buster and Rhodes were able to hold him in place.

Secondly, the exposition about Natasha’s parentage before killing her off put a bad taste in the entire movie. Sure it wasn’t as bad as Gamora’s death, but still. Although the reactions from the core Avengers team were very genuine and organic.

Third, that ending plothole. The ending that hampered the movie’s score for me. The movie’s time travel rules were simple. For Steve to go back to that particular present, he needs to wear the Quantum GPS devise Tony made and that special Quantum suit. Yes he was just at the log, sitting and waiting for Sam and Bucky to notice him.

It’d be fine if Old Steve returned to the platform and gave Bucky and Sam his farewells, passed on the shield and all that jazz.

Now let’s go to the positives.

Hawkeye’s descent to madness was well executed, while the Ronin scenes kinda need some sort of development, but I feel like what they’ve shown was just the right amount to make his scene with Natasha later feel impactful, including his scenes with his family.

The buildup that the “new” villain was going to be Thanos was great. It showed his desire to stop anyone from undoing the other Thanos had accomplished.

The MCU Trinity (totally stolen from DC’s trinity, we have a super dude, a god, and a man with gadgets) fighting off Thanos.

Captain America wielding Mjolnir, with the bonus treat of Thor’s reaction.

“Avengers!” Captain America yelled at the top of his lungs.

Everyone: The dusted heroes, Asgardians, Dr. Strange’s followers, The Wakandan army, the other heroes, and I mean everyone, get out of a portal and readied themselves for battle.

“Assemble.” Captain America whispers

The underlined scene pales in comparison to the actual movie, that’s how epic it was.

This is where the title is from. A few moments after the fight of epic proportions has started, the whole cast decides to play American Football with the Infinity Gauntlet made by Iron Man as the Rugby ball with the goal being the Pym’s Quantum Van.

I also love the many times Thanos attempted to snap his fingers only to be thwarted. I especially love the fact that when he did, the stones weren’t there.

With Tony snapping his fingers saying “I am Iron Man”

The funeral scene was nice, but not dramatic, what sold Tony’s death was Tom Holland’s acting and Pepper’s acceptance that Tony won’t make it.

Overall it was an enjoyable movie, the ending left a bitter taste considering that it was a plothole. I do appreciate that Ms Marvel did not become a deus ex machina.

Same. ;w;I do think P3D is solid, and at least matches the visual theme/aesthetic of P3D (aka the techno theme). But…..I mean….P4D was disco….and they didn’t rely only on disco…. They had jazz, swing, pop, dance, rock, hard rock. P4D had a very big selection of different genres, both with it’s base and with it’s remixes, it helped that it drew A LOT on the P4 Reincarnation OST.

P3D DIDN’T draw on the Reincarnation OST tbh, it took two songs. When Moon Reaches To the Stars, and Burn My Dread (former isn’t really too different to the original game’s OST except it has more lyrics, and the full ver of BMD was first featured on the Reincarnation OST). Tbh those are the two songs that are the least Reincarnate-a-fied out of either P3′s or P4′s OST, and the Reincarnation has SOOOOOO many great songs to offer for P3D, and it really changes up the genre of each song compared to how it is in the original game. Like, I really do like Junpei’s Deep Breath remix song in P3D, but I’d drop it in a heart beat for my fun boppin little love song ver on the Reincarnation Album:

But you know what would’ve been fun? And it’s a dance I think Junpei could’ve pulled it off, I mean it def fits P4D’s aesthetic (aka the disco aesthetic), but Junpei was the first one to emanate this. And it’s this funky fresh remix of Want to be Close:

Heck….man, FeMC’s Sun is a great track too, and you know it’s not the fact it’s an FeMC song they didn’t use it (they def could’ve remixed it and maybe added lyrics if they REALLY wanted to):

Like why aren’t these in here? Like the remixes are fine, I actually really like them tbh (both as songs in general, and the fact they really got the beat down while I was playing, it really pulled me in) but these should also be in here (esp since P3/5D have less base songs than P4D, and like 4/5 less songs that aren’t MVs/are the characters actually dancing). Plus they also have PQ, Arena/Ultimax, the stage plays, the movies, EVEN THE PACHINKO MACHINE HAD AN ORIGINAL SONG! P3 had all these places to pull music from and it didn’t. ;w;

I also don’t understand why…..Burn My Dread is the last song…..I think the Last Battle Mix would’ve been better, or really just a remix of the song, I mean….P4D had a remix of it’s iconic song so you’d think P3D of their’s…..

Heck, ending on the Reincarnation remix of Memories of You would been good too (or even just a side song), it would’ve worked great as a interpretative dance too boot (just added this part but I guess there’s a limit to how many videos you can add 8U)!:

They could’ve done a dual mix of Memories of You, with Yumi and the PTS version (aka the male singer who did P3P’s opening, Shuhei), and make it seem like the two singers are singing at each other. Actually that would’ve been a great bonus song, esp if it involved Minato/Makoto and FeMC dancing at the Seal (with Yumi representing FeMC, and Shuhei for Minato). Ahhhhh so many possibilities flush down the drain cause they had to release P5D too instead of just expanding on P3D (with P5D being released later and being expanded on too). ;w; Also here’s a ref to Shuhei’s ver:

Ok like P3D still had more variety in it’s OST than P5D, I’ll give it that. But there could’ve been more, there SHOULD’VE been more.

Also like what were they thinking of for Aigis’ dances? Like I like the dances, they’re fine…..BUT WHAT THE FUDGE WHERE THEY THINKING? YOU HAVE A GD ROBOT! UTILIZE THAT! LIKE NO, THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO THAT AND THEY DIDN’T. THEY JUST AIRPLANE ARM’S HER THE WHOLE TIME! No no no, where’s the Mr Robot Dance moves? Why isn’t she the one dancing to the dubstep/techno stuff? I get the dancer could only do so much but oh my god there are people that specialize in these dance moves! P5D? The only remixed I really like was…..I think the Twins….Anne’s Rivers Remix did get me on beat like the P3D ones but I didn’t really like it. When it came to the P5D remixes I thought they were either “fine for the most part but overstayed their welcome and made the song go on longer than it should’ve” (how I felt about the Wake Up Remix), or they were “good when they weren’t resembling their base song” (and by that point they could’ve/should’ve been original songs, the original beat was wasted as a remix). I was really pulling for these remixes too tbh.

I also think they misused a lot of the music with the dances. Anne, Haru, and Ren are pretty good dancers….the songs they chose for them SUCK ASS tho. Anne is a sexy dancer, and would thrive with either some sexy song (that Persona does not have so, crap can’t use that), or a pure pop song (something like in American pop, or P3/4, which P5 has zilch of any of those in it’s OST). Haru is a great ballet dancer, and while i think she makes her songs work the most, she’d benefit so much more from Yukiko’s songs imo, it’s really bring out her dances more (but P5 doesn’t have those songs either, except maybe Encounter: Lovers, but that’s not long enough). Ren, while I think the Wake Up Remix overstays it’s welcome, it’s so energetic and really fits him, but everything else I feel smother’s his talent. With the Last Surprise MV (ignoring the obvious problems of sexulizing the girls for now) it’s a good, well shot and danced to MV…..BUT WHY LAST SURPRISE???? Like with Anne’s base dancing, this MV is suppose to be sexy, it’s danced to sexy, it’s shot sexy….BUT LAST SURPRISE IS NOT A SEXY SONG! WE NEED AN ORIGINAL SONG! OR A SEXY REMIX OF ANOTHER SONG! WHY WASTE LAST SURPRISE?

And then there’s P5D’s final dance (and again I had a similar issue with P3D)…..Why not be like P4D and remix an iconic song? Wake up and Last Surprise (or even Life Will Change, tho that one worked great as an MV so let’s focus on the former two instead) are your most iconic! Remix them if you need to! They should be your final closing number!

Ahhhhhhh such a waste for both games, they deserve better. ;w;

That being said, for the OPs and Eds. I think P3D had the better one compared to P5D (I’d tie it with P4D, but I found P3D’s 2nd half a little lacking, and one line made me face palm….which isn’t as bad as P5D’s which made me throw my head threw a wall out of embarrassment XP). But I think P5D had the best ending song out of the 3, but on the other hand it doesn’t sound like and ending song and is wasted as one (it would be a perfect alt night theme). It was also wasted as an MV song, it has fresh music to offer P5D and they won’t have anyone dance to it. ;w; Ngl I don’t remember P3D’s ending song, it wasn’t bad, but for now I gotta rank it lower than P4D’s since I can’t remember it. XD ;w;
