The Beauty and the Brawn - Emmett Cullen x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You try to prove to Emmett that he won’t hurt you with his enhanced strengths
Words: 2k
Warnings: Oral (F!recieving)
Notes: idk what this is really, just had the idea for a few days
Y/N’s POV
Emmett is strong, stronger than most vampires having gotten enhanced strength when he was changed. He’s always seen it as an added perk as it’s not something drastic like Alice’s future telling or Benjamin’s elemental manipulations, it was just that he was a little stronger than the others. Nothing more, nothing less.
Then he met me and now, as much as I tell him otherwise, he sees his strength as a curse. He gets scared he’ll get too carried away with me, forget I’m still human and accidentally hurt me or kill me. As much as I reassure Emmett that he could never hurt me he will still try and avoid the topic, kissing me the most he trust himself to do. Every time we get hot and heavy and I guide things on a little he backs up with that pained look in his eyes. Everything about him screams that he wants me back but the pain in his eyes tells me he’s scared which always catches me off guard as this is Emmett Cullen. Outgoing, loud and loving Emmett… too scared to even touch me at times despite how much his feelings were mutual.
Today is no different and I decide to take a different approach, even if it doesn’t mean sex. I just want Emmett to see that he can trust himself with me and that I’m not as fragile as he thinks. We’re sat on his bed, a bed he got Carlisle to get without specifying why. The Cullen’s don’t know me yet except maybe Alice and Edward because of their gifts but they apparently haven’t said anything to the others. Emmett doesn’t want them to all bombard me and he’s also worried about how Rosalie will take it that he’s moved on already which I understand and I agreed to take it as slow as he wants with meeting them.
Emmett’s hand is on my thighs as we sit shoulder to shoulder, watching a movie on the TV he also had installed. I’m barely paying attention to it though, focusing on his icy touch on my bare skin, being in only shorts as it’s just us here for another day to two. Emmett said the others had gone on a hunting trip and he elected to say home. I say fuck it, it’s now or never so I’m turning my body to face him, reaching over to cup his cheek and I ask, “Do you trust me?”
“Of course I do, why-“ He’s frowning until I begin shifting, moving onto my knees and turning my body towards him, “Y/N, I-“
“Just trust me baby,” I stroke his cheek reassuringly, watching him lean into my palm and those beautiful golden eyes flutter shut for a moment. With Emmett’s eyes still closed I shift my body further until I’m straddling him, legs either side of his thick thighs. His muscles tense as he realises I’m seated, arms resisting ever so slightly when I guide his hands to my hips, holding them there to show him that he won’t hurt me. The heat seems to rise between us as I lean in, lips almost touching his as I whisper, “Emmett, I trust you. I trust you with everything.”
His eyes fly open at this, the confusion and fear in them until he sees I’m not lying to him, keeping my face open and honestly so he can see the trust and love and it works as his expression softens, “Y/N.” He’s whispering, voice filled with emotions that I can’t quite decipher so I just lean forwards again and capture his lips in a gentle and pliant kiss. The kiss is tender and slow, as if we’re exploring each other for the first time. My heart is racing as I feel the softness of his lips against mine, the taste of him sweet and familiar, the tension in Emmett’s body slowly melting away as he gets lost in the kiss so I take another risk and deep it. Emmett’s hands are moving up and down my sides and back, testing the waters cautiously and the feel of his hands on my skin sends shivers down my spine, knowing I want more.
Too soon am I having to break the kiss as unlike Emmett I still need to consume oxygen. His golden eyes have darkened a little with love and desire, a soft sound leaving him when I caress his cheek gently, “Emmett,” My voice is a barely above a whisper, as if scared to break the moment, “I need you. Need all of you.”
Emmett’s eyes widen in surprise at the bluntness of my words, looking at me intently as if trying to decipher if I’m really serious about what I said. I can see the mixture of emotions playing across his face - desire; love; fear and protectiveness. I stay seated in his lap as I wait for his response, letting him work through his emotions and letting him decide. He wants me but he’s afraid of hurting me, his hands retreating again so I catch them in mine and squeeze reassuringly. His eyes flick down to our interlocked hands before back to my face before he’s swallowing and mumbling out, “Start with a shower first?”
“Whatever you want Pretty Boy.” I’m nodding, guiding one of his large hands to my cheek and pressing a kiss to his open palm before he’s surprising me and drawing me into another kiss. This one’s different, he’s not holding back as much, it’s hungrier almost. There’s an urgency to the kiss, his lips moving with more purpose as his moves to the back of my head, deepening the kiss. His other hand finds it’s way back to my waist, pulling me flush against him. It’s like he’s been holding back for so long and how he’s finally allowing himself to let go and now he can’t seem to get enough. I respond with equal fervour, my hands tangling in his hair as we explore each other’s mouths.
Emmett’s breaking the kiss before me, standing up effortlessly and cradling me in his arms as if I weight nothing which I guess I really don’t for him. I’m wrapping my arms around his broad shoulders, holding on tight as he carries me to the bathroom, feeling his muscles tense and flex under his shirt with each step. He’s setting me on the counter, a playful smile on his face and a rumble in his chest when I squeal at how cold the counter is. He’s stealing another kiss from me before moving to turn on the shower, letting it heat up and moving back over to me, standing between my legs. He’s looking at me with a soft expression, making sure this is what I really want, his hands running over my waist and pulling back slightly to ask, “You sure about this, honey?” His eyes are filled with concern and love, making me feel even more secure in my decision.
To prove my point I pull my shirt over my head and letting it fall to the floor, watching Emmett’s lips part slightly in a hitched breath at the sight of me now bare except for a pair of shorts. Emmett’s eyes are skimming over my body, taking in every dip and curve and scar on display to him. His hands coming up to gently trace along my arms and down my sides, as if savouring the feeling of my skin against his fingertips. Despite his obvious desire he still checks with me if this is okay, eyes flicking back up to mine every few seconds until I’m guiding his hands up to my breasts, watching his reaction. He surprises me by dragging me into such a tender and loving kiss as he explores this new territory.
Our bodies press together, Emmett’s hands now tracing circles on my back as he deepens the kiss, his very obvious arousal pressing into my thigh but he’s taking it slow as if he’ll spook me. His lips move down my neck as he murmurs against the skin, “You’re so fucking beautiful.” His large hands grip my hips and I’m soon standing again, feeling cold fingers dip into the waistband of my shorts.
“Please.” I’m practically begging and Emmett’s groaning into the crook of my neck, surprising me again as he sinks to his knees as he slides the shorts down my legs, throwing them aside before his gaze finds mine and I’m having to bite my lip at the sight of Emmett on his knees for me. His strong hands grip my hips as he begins nosing at my thighs, lips ghosting over them and teeth grazing until he’s nudging my legs apart enough blow cold air over my slickness, making me gasp and squirm. Before I can say or do anything those skilled lips are kissing my folds, nose bumping my clit before he licks a confident stripe up, gauging my reaction. His tongue flutters against my clit before he’s eating me like a starved man, hands gripping my hips tight enough that I can’t wriggle away from the pleasure.
My hand is gripping his hair, the other bracing myself against the counter as he moans, sending vibrations through that oversensitive bundle of nerves. He’s dipping his tongue in and out of my core with precision and sloppiness before he moves back to my clit, my body trying to jerk away but his grip is tight enough to promise bruises and fuck that just makes everything more intense. All too soon I can feel myself starting to pulse around his tongue that hasn’t stopped fucking into me and my hands tugs almost painfully at his hair while my head falls back with a whine, my thighs trying to clamp around Emmett’s head as my vision partially whites out and all I hear is white noise, unsure if I’m crying out Emmett’s name.
“Emm, fuck Emmett, too much.” I’m begging and he finally pulls back, looking up at me with half-lidded eyes and he looks fucking dirty, his mouth and chin shiny with my juices and his golden eyes have darkened even more. His thumbs caress my hips as he pulls himself to his feet moving to kiss me with a cheeky grin when I lightly push his face away saying, “No, clean your face first.”
“I do believe a shower was suggested.” He agrees and I’m nodding, tugging at his shirt to which he complies, pulling it over his head and I can’t help wet my lips at how good he looks. Sure, I’ve seen Emmett change but this is different, he’s baring himself for me and me alone. His shirt reveals his chiseled abs and braid chest, my eyes roaming over his muscular physique with appreciation. His defined biceps and broad shoulders are evidence of the immense physical strength he possesses and the way his tone torso tapers down to his waist makes me want to run my hands over his hard body. As he undresses further, my gaze is drawn to his thick thighs, my heart racing against as he’s straining against his boxers and fuck, he is in no way small. The boxers barely able to contain him, the angry red head slipped past the waistband, precum wetting his v-line a little, “Come on lovely, eyes up here.”
I tear my eyes away from his enticing bulge, feeling heat rising to my cheeks at being caught. But I can't help the desire that courses through me as I watch him step out of his boxers, completely naked before me. My heart is pounding in my chest, and I can feel the anticipation building between us as we move towards the shower. As we step under the warm water, Emmett pulls me close, his hands roaming over my wet skin as we continue to explore each other's bodies. I know this is only the beginning, and I can't wait to see what other surprises Emmett has in store for me.

Polar Opposites
Summary: You and Jasper are so different yet you work so well
Warnings: fluff, craziness, chaos, fire
Reader: Gender Neutral
Pairings: Jasper Hale x Gender Neutral Reader
Word Count: 883
A/n: Requested by Anon: What about a Jasper Hale x fem reader where she’s like a chaotic pyromaniac? I feel like it’d be funny to read about someone so calm like Jasper to be with someone so chaotic... Ok, so this turned out to be really short but I hope you like it, I struggled more than I thought I would but I think it’s still good! ALSO I wrote this with the reader as a female in mind but there’s no pronouns so 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

You found it poetic that the thing you loved most in the world ended up being the thing that caused your end. It wasn’t a person that captured your heart or a cause that your life was devoted to. It was fire. Literally a burning flame.
When you were little you remember sitting by the fireplace that was used to keep your home warm. You’d sit in front of the flames and stare at them for hours. You’d watch the wood turn to ash and the light flicker off the walls. You thought it was more beautiful than the sunset and more powerful than the winds that demolished your village.
You became obsessed with the flame. It was beautiful and it consumed everything within it’s reach. One day you just so happened to be it’s victim. Only instead of being consumed you survived.
Someone had turned you into a vampire and abandoned you in the middle of the ash. The only way you survived the fire was because of the ability that came to life once the transition took place.
You could create, control, and withstand the one thing you were obsessed with. No fire could harm you like it could other vampires. Even if the fire didn’t come from you. You were completely immune to it’s destruction.
You spent your life learning how to control it. Only your version of control was how to make it large and chaotic. You craved chaos. You loved destruction. You destroyed because it made you happy. You set fire to the world because you thought everyone should see it’s beauty.
No one ever figured out that all the destruction that was caused came from you. Simply because nobody lived long enough to suspect you. Nobody knew who you were. Until someone approached your promising more.
You never even thought of life outside of your beautiful flames. You felt complete with the way things were until she started putting ideas into your head.
A woman named Alice found you deep within a forest. She found you with such ease it intrigued you. Nobody knew you thus nobody hunted you yet she just walked right into your territory.
She talked about a life outside of this isolation. She talked about family and friendship. She made you promises you struggled to believe.
When you were human you were too different. Nobody really bothered to know or understand you. But this tiny little vampire that owes you nothing is putting in the effort to come meet her family. She never gave up either. It took two years of visiting before you finally met her family.
You had gotten used to her visits. She always came at the same time. Never missed a meeting. That is until she just didn’t show up. You became worried so you sought her out.
You found her standing in front of this beautiful home. She knew her absence would bring you out of your hole. She knew you’d come for her. So, your first meeting with her family wasn’t exactly planned on your part.
You weren't like the other Cullen's. You weren't calm and collected like Carlisle and Esme. You weren't quiet like Jasper and Edward. Quirkiness isn't your main personality like Alice. You weren't Ms. Barbie Badass like Rosalie and you weren't Musclebob Buffpants like Emmett yet you fit in with them.
They became the family you never had. They accepted you even though you knew you were border line crazy.
“Jasper, Jasper, Jasper!!” You shout skipping toward your boyfriend. He smirks when he turns to you. Your skipping turns into a full on run where you leap into his arms. Your leg wrap around his waist. “Hi,” You whisper.
“Evenin’ darlin’,” He mutters, holding your close to him.
You got with Jasper not long after you joined the family. If it were up to him you were sure that the two of you would still be tiptoeing around each other right now. You didn’t like to wait to get something you wanted. You wanted Jasper and once he finally let you in you had him.
You balanced each other out more than what your family thought would happen. He helped tame the fire within you while you helped him lighten up. The both of you were attached to the hip. He couldn’t get enough of you and you finally found someone who loved you for you... Romantically that is.
You knew the two of you looked strange everywhere you went. You were a bright ball of energy no matter what. Jasper seemed like your polar opposite. Even though he wasn’t as outgoing as you were he still followed you anywhere you wanted to go. Then the second someone else’s eyes are on you, he’s practically on top of you. The possessiveness that could radiate off of him never failed to turn you on.
“Rose and I found this beautiful field of wild flowers,” You told him, pressing your head against his. You began to pout. “She wouldn’t let me burn it,” Jasper continued to smirk before he kissed the pout off your lips.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart, we’ll find you something else to destroy,” He promises. You instantly lit up with excitement.
“You always know the right things to say,” You whisper to him.

A/N: Shout out to @ideas-for-you-to-adopt for inspiring/writing a lot of the headcanons used for the “Bella Suspicion” part of this chapter!
I’m posting this a day early, because, well I’m flakey like that
* You spear another piece of pineapple, your teeth grinding together
* “I think that sounds perfect!” Lauren squeals lightly grasping Bella’s shoulder, Bella gives a small smile in return.
* You know what isn’t perfect?
* The fact that nothing is going according to plan.
* It’s already a month in and NOTHING has happened. You stab another piece of pineapple, sticking it into your mouth
* You’ve hung back in the school parking lot everyday for a MONTH, you were even late to cheer practice once, just to see if the “Tyler Van Accident”  happened.
* Only it never did, and you didn’t know why until Lauren confided that she and Tyler had been hooking up lately.
* As in hooking up at her house after school before her parents came home.
* Of course it’s not going to happen when Tyler’s ditching his last period to drive to her house
* What a mess
* You chew the pineapple carefully, just like a human would. Because even though Bella knows LITERALLY NOTHING. She somehow suspects everything.
* You watch her from the corner of your eye, making polite conversation with Angela about biology next period.
* The amount of questions she has about you is ridiculous
* How did you meet Edward? How does your family know the Cullen’s? Where are you adoptive parents now? If they’re back in the states why haven’t you gone to live with them?
* It’s literally never ending. And that’s just her trying to poke holes in your story.
* You’re not even going to start with all the stuff she’s commented on your physical appearance
* “Hey don’t you think it’s weird they all have gold eyes?” You had heard Bella quietly ask Jessica when she thought you couldn’t hear
* “Not really, they’ve got like six kids, so when one kid needs something more of them do too. (Y/N) told me Alice wanted color contacts so Dr. Cullen just bought some for all of them.”
* And then the week before that, while you were doing a stunt at a basketball game Bella said:
* “Aren’t they like, too strong?” You were lifting up a girl all on your own.
* “Oh yeah- I guess you never saw the video, apparently they’re jacked.” Conner says, with a shrug.
* “Yeah they heard working out helps with stress when they were like 12 and just never stopped.” Mike adds absentmindedly
* And if that wasn’t enough she’s even said this a few weeks before that:
* “Don’t you think it’s weird how beautiful they all are?” Lauren wrinkles her nose, at the time she had gotten used to Bella but she still doesn’t seem to like her very much
* “Not really, I remember (Y/N) wasn’t all that pretty freshman year, they used to wear these really dorky glasses.”
* You had almost started to forget how good you had it, after you did all the leg work in the last two years to establish that you were normal -just kinda quirky- you had just started to enjoy the pay off. A little more lax with your appearance, wearing clothes you liked, doing more solo routines in cheer.
* Only for little Miss.Curious to show up
* Now you have to try extra hard to look human again. And not just you, the entire coven does, because when one of you falls under suspicion you all do.
* Rosalie’s been making her hair look messy every so often to give the illusion that she’s having a bad hair day, Alice wears a retainer every so often, even Emmett pretends to need the bathroom more than he usually does.
* This morning you even had Rosalie do a fake pimple on your jaw.
* If Bella wasn’t going to be your best friends’ future wife, you think you might just hate her.
* You kind of sympathize with Rosalie in the book now.
* “Hey (Y/N) are you in?” Conner asks nudging his elbow against yours.
* “In for what?” You mumble, spearing another piece of pineapple. Another downside is now you have to eat at lunch. Otherwise Bella starts asking why you never eat and everyone gets really concerned and starts force feeding you
* God, all those years of establish you have low blood sugar and acid reflux induced nausea for nothing
* “La Push beach, we’re all going this weekend.” You perk up at the mention
* Finally, something’s getting back on track
* “Can’t, cheer stuff.” You mumble, shoving your food around your plate with your fork.
* You don’t miss Bella’s meaningful glance on your mostly full plate.
* Oh great, you can practically see the question “don’t you think it’s weird how they never eat anything?” Forming in the inner corners of her mind
* “What about you Edward?” Lauren flutters her eyelashes and you have to stop yourself from rolling your eyes.
* Lauren’s still annoyed that even though they’re hooking up, Tyler hasn’t made anything official yet
* Alice told her flirting with another guy might help.
* “He’s not going either.” You say before Edward can even open his mouth. He doesn’t say anything just gives you a questioning look and a smile.
* Looks like he’s finding everyone else’s thoughts more interesting
* “Are you guys going on a date?” Jessica waggles her eyebrows and on the other side of the table Bella sputters.
* You roll your eyes
* “No Jessica, but if I can’t go have fun neither can he.” Technically you both are forbidden to go on tribal land but whatever. “Best friend code.”
* Also you’re pretty sure Edward and Emmett are going to Yellowstone to eat bears or something, like a couple of heathens
* The thought of eating straight out of bear, no idea what they’ve eaten or where they’ve been doing their business, makes you shudder.
* You did mention to them both that if they happen to find an orphaned bear cub somewhere to bring it back. You’ve been wanting to experiment with bear blood.
* “Best friend code.” Edward repeats slowly, and the look he gives you makes your stomach flutter. And it’s not because you just ate half a salad.
* You’re knocked out of the look when Conner bumps his knee against yours
* “Well that’s a shame, I was looking forward to seeing you in a swimsuit.”
* So Conner’s been flirting a lot with you lately. Kind of weird, your best guess is that he was hoping to date Lauren, but now that she’s kinda seeing Tyler, you’re starting to look good.
* “Maybe you should have a pool party at that fancy house of yours then.” The group laughs but Conner just smirks
* “Whatever you want babe but-“ the bell cuts him off and you give him a consolatory pat on the arm.
* You move to throw away the leftover food on your plate, walking with Edward
* “We’re ditching right?” You ask him as you toss the plate into the trash.
* “Yeah Mr. Barnes is doing his blood type experiment today.” Like he even needs an excuse to skip school. “Do you want to go to the bookstore or something?”
* You shake your head, that won’t do, when Bella faints Edward needs to be there so they can fall in love
* “Wanna just hang out in my car? We can listen to that new Debussy CD I got.”
* Edward gives you a small smile, like he’s not really happy
* “Whatever you want.”
* Wait what’s up with that.
* “Hey, (Y/N)!” Bella calls out for you and Edward grimaces.
* “I’ll meet you at your car” wait he’s not going to stay here? If this was a dating video game he’d be the kind of player that wasted all the capture flags and then complains when they end up all alone.
* He leaves just as Bella gets to you. She spares a fleeting glance in Edward’s direction, almost looking sad as she watches him walk away before she looks to you
* “Are you heading over to biology?” She really is cute, like a puppy. She must have been hoping to get a little closer to Edward.
* You almost feel bad for not warning her what with her issues on blood.
* “Nah I’ve got to finish my trig homework so I’m going to skip.” You fake a yawn.
* Oh, before you forget
* “I actually got you something.”
* You hand her a carefully wrapped gift bag, compliments of Rosalie of course
* “Vitamins?” Bella asks, her eyebrows threading together
* “Yeah, it’s like a vitamin powder, you just add it to water. We bought a big family pack so I thought I would share some with you.”
* Also because you’re 100% sure she’s anemic.
* Part of the reason you like the way she smells so much is because of her anemia, if it’s just the peach scent you can probably contain yourself.
* You wave goodbye and Bella looks down at the package in her hands with a goofy expression. She hugs it to her chest before her expression pinches.
* “I should have offered to let them copy my notes” Bella murmurs to herself. Smacking her forehead and walking to biology.
* When you manage to sneak out to the parking lot through the gym doors, you see Edward leaning against your car, looking bored as he looks to the tree line
* “Why didn’t you sit inside? You look like a douchebag.”
* “I would have if someone had given me the keys”
* Like that’s stopped him before
* You unlock the car, letting it start with a hum before you pull out your trig homework
* You weren’t entirely lying to Bella, you really hadn’t finished you homework
* Edward pulls out a book from his bag, you’re not ashamed to say you’ve gotten him super into “The City of Ember” series
* “Hey why did you walk away when Bella came over?” you’re only half curious, mostly just trying to make conversation. “You don’t hate her do you?” You add with a laugh.
* The mere thought of Edward Cullen hating Bella Swan is laughable.
* “Yeah I do.”
* You find yourself coughing from the sheer shock.
* “You mean she frustrates you because you can’t read her mind.” Edward has spared you a concerned glance when you started coughing, but has turned his attention back to his book
*” No I mean I don’t like her, and I don’t like being around her.” He doesn’t look up from his book as he says it.
* “But why?” Yeah she’s a little plain, and she’s still pretty shy even though you’ve been hanging out for a month and all those damn questions
* But she’s got good taste in books, and she’s pretty straightforward.
* She’s not the type of person to go behind your back, if you did something to upset her she’ll tell you straight to your face.
* Honestly she’s a lot like Angela, minus the hidden cunning nature.
* Edward eyes narrow and a heavy sigh escapes him. His head tilts back to rest against the passenger seat headrest.
* His neck is so long and white. The color of freshly fallen snow. You can’t help but think of how pretty it would look covered in hickeys.
* Like poppy’s blossoming in the snow.
* Can vampires get hickeys? Would it just be like black instead of red since none of you really have blood anymore.
* “I just don’t like-” He cuts himself off when his eyes meet yours, they seem to shine brighter for a moment, and you tilt your head. This feels like a meaningful look.
* Edward sighs and looks away.
* “I just don’t like her vibe.”
*”Vibe? Are you an Edward shaped imposter?” you see him mouth ‘Edward Shaped Imposter’ as you both laugh.
* “Where did you learn to say these things?” He asks between laughs. You mock gasp.
* “The real Edward would never ask me that because he’s too afraid to know! Who are you really? What planet are you from?” Your hands move to his face, his face is as smooth as marble, lingering warmth. You leaned in without thinking about it, only a few inches away from him.
* You’re so close you can smell him. He always smells good, like something ancient and profound. Rosemary and argon oil.
* Your hands are still on his face and he’s grinning.
* You gulp
* You’re trying to think of another ridiculous imposter joke you can make wen you catch a familiar head of blond hair through the window.
* “Is that Mike and ... Bella?”
* This is a lot sooner than you thought, it hasn’t even been ten minutes yet.
* Edward looks almost bored as he follows your gaze.
* “Yeah, looks like she made herself sick, she’s - what’s that word for when people are afraid of blood?”
* “Hemophobia?”
* “Yeah, that’s what she has.”
* You wait for a second, releasing his face from your hands, but instead of moving to open the door he slumps back into his seat, eyes focused on his book.
* “Don’t you think we should go help them?” He shrugs.
* The f*cking criminal just shrugs.
* WHAT THE F*CK IS GOING ON?!?!
* Human or not, there’s no world Edward wouldn’t at least think about helping someone who’s in trouble.
* You’re starting to think this really is an Edward imposter.
* You watch Bella lean on Mike, stumbling down the crosswalk to the nurse’s office in the next building.
* You can’t watch anymore
* ‘You know you-” You words finally get Edward’s attention as he looks up from his book. “You are wasting all the capture flags!” You shout before sliding out of your car and jogging over to Mike and Bella
* “Mike! What happened?” He’s so surprised to see you his grip on Bella goes slack and she falls out of his side hold.
* “Oh crap!”
* You rush to catch her, swinging her into a princess hold.
* What was Mike struggling with so much? She’s not very hea - oh right you’re a vampire.
* “Are you alright, I know she’s kinda heavy.” Well that’s not very nice to say about a girl, besides she’s pretty skinny. Can’t be more than 120 pounds.
* “It’s no problem, I do it for cheer are all the time.” You do a fake grunt as you pretend to get a better hold on her.
* The movement jostle her awake, her eyes fluttering open. She’s still in a dreamy state, her eyes are unfocused.
* “(Y/N)?”
* “Hey buddy, looks like ya fainted, squeamish around blood huh?”
* “How do you know we were doing the blood type experiment?” Mike asks.
* Oh crap. You were skipping, you weren’t supposed to know that. Even worse you brain can’t seem to come up with a valid excuse.
* “Alice told us about it, (Y/N) used to be squeamish around blood when we were kids, didn’t want to take any chances” You let out a sigh of relief when you see Edward walking towards you. At least he’s not completely heartless.
*”Then why were you skipping?” Mike asks scratching his head. Edward shrugs
* “They can’t go to class, then I won’t go either.” And then the criminal looks you straight in the eye and says with the cheekiest smile imaginable:
*“It’s the best friend code”
* Oh f*ck off Edward.
* You almost want to scoff when he takes Bella from your arms and into his.
* SO now he wants to care about the capture flag.
* You let him take her though, You swear you see her stiffen and frown when he holds her.
* That can’t be right, she seemed super relaxed when you were carrying her.
* “I-I’m fine I can walk.”
* “No you can’t.” Edward bluntly says.
* Even when he gets to capture event, he says all the wrong things. You sigh as you walk behind him. Only to notice another set of footsteps by you.
* “You can go back if you want Mike, Edward won’t kidnap her or anything.” He might throw her into the lake though.
* Mike shakes his head. “No it just seems wrong to not make sure she at least gets to the nurses office.”
*You smile, he really is a kind boy.
* “Also I’ll be damned if Bella gives Edward all the credit.” Well mostly kind.
* You get to the nurses office, who seems incredibly flustered with both you and Edward in such a small space.
* She seems so preoccupied keeping her wits about her as she checks out Bella and deals with your presence that she never asks why three people had to escort one person to the nurses office.
* “Well your blood pressure is a little low, since you fainted I would suggest you go home. If you want you can take a nap in here until school’s out.” Wow, where was a nurse this generous when you were in school.
* Bella, the beautiful moron, shakes her head.
* “No it’s okay I’ll go back to class, I don’t want to take a zero for the assignment” Well that’s noble and responsible and all. But what does she think is going to happen when she goes back to class?
* She’s going to see some blood again and faint. Not that you can be mad, you would probably have to go the the nurse too if Bella ever managed to prick her own finger
* “Bella you really shouldn’t,” You settle your hand on her shoulder pushing her back onto the chair. “You just fainted you should lie down, or go home or something.”
* Her eyebrows thread together, mouth pulled in protest.
* “I don’t want to impose on any-”
* “It’s not an imposition, I want to!” Her mouth parts, then closes, stretching into a fine line. You look to Edward who’s avoiding your gaze and seems very irritated.
* Enemies to lovers trope it is.(Though you’re not sure if this counts as enemies if only one person dislikes the other)
* “I’m going to drop you off home, come on.” You pull Bella up by her hand, leading her to the parking lot.
* “Wait what about my car?”
* Oh you hadn’t thought about that.
*Hmmm in the original book Alice drove her home. But Alice doesn’t really do anything unless there’s something in it for her, or if she wants to.
* Also you’re pretty sure when she ditched today when she found out that people were pricking there finger on campus. She claimed it was for Jasper, but you’re pretty sure there’s a sale in the Nordstrom in Seattle.
* Edward would rather get the flu than drive Bella’s ancient truck.
* Which leaves only one option.
* You toss your keys to Edward who catches them with one hand.
* “Edward will drive you home in my car, and I’ll drive your car behind him.”
* “What about Rosalie?” He grumbles.
*“What about Rosalie?” Why is he being so difficult right now? Doesn’t he realize you’re doing this all for him!
* “You’re driving her home since Emmett and I are leaving for Yellow Stone as soon as school lets out.” Oh right the bears. Cr*p.
* “It’s not a big deal, I’ll drive back to school after we’re done and you can go your way and I’ll go mine.”
* You can tell Edward doesn’t like it, but he just sigh’s climbing into your car and then promptly getting out of the passenger side and sitting in the driver’s side.
* The dork forgot he had to drive the car.
* You’re dying laughing as Bella leads you to her car.
* “It’s the blue one.”
* Her truck isn’t all that bad. It’s old, but in a kind of retro way. It’s powder blue, with only two doors and no backseat.
* You climb in, turning the engine and hearing it purr. Well it’s more of a roar, but it’s not terrible.
* You’re surprised when Bella climbs through the passenger side door.
* “Um, you’re not going to drive with Edward?” She looks at you like you just asked her to recite the Fibonacci sequence.
* “Why would I go with him when you’re the one driving my car?” Okay, that’s fair.
* You sigh, why does nothing ever go according to plan.
* Maybe it’s for the best, Edward doesn’t seem to be in the best mood. Not that this is good either, she’s sitting so close to you, her peachy scent fills the small space of the truck and you feel lightheaded.
* It’s less than a ten minute trip, no need to get dramatic. You’re pretty sure you won’t kill her just because she smells nice.
* “Soooooo... what do you want to talk about?” You ask as you turn out of the school, this car is super slow compared to yours, you’re pretty sure it won’t go over 50 mph.
* Bella fidgets beside you, playing with the ends of her hair.
* “So are you and Edward...dating?”
* You laugh so loud you actually start coughing. And then you laugh again.
* “No-pfff- no We’re uh- we’re not dating.” You finally manage.
* “Why is that so funny to you?” She asks, genuinely confused.
* “Well it’s just outrageous you know?” How would that even work? You can’t even picture it. Edward getting all hot and bothered because you’re wearing an oversized sweater and glasses. You flirting with him all over the house in front of Carlisle and Esme. Edward signing up for a sport just so he can see you in his letterman.
* It’s all...impossible.
* And yet, there is one thing you can picture.
* Edward by your side, he’s almost golden brown, his eyes bright green. He points to the living room, and in there are Alec and Jane, both of their eyes blue as they argue over who’s turn it is to watch TV.
* Maybe if you were human, if you had met in a different world or a different time, that would be something you could have.
* But it is what it is
* “Edward and I have been friends for a really long time, we’ve just seen too much of each other to find each other attractive like that.”
* Bella looks like she doesn’t believe you but she doesn’t say anything.
* Wait what are you doing? This is the perfect chance to talk Edward up!
* “But you know Edward is a real stand up guy!” It leaves a little too forcefully, a little inauthentic.
* “Oh is he?” She doesn’t sound too excited to be talking about this.
* “I know he’s got one of those face-”
* “Obnoxiously handsome?” She spats
* “Like he thinks existence is a curse, and the world is evil and everything is terrible -” Wait you’re getting off track. “B-but he really is a good guy!”
* You bite your lip, as Bella tells you to turn into a subdivision.
* “You know after- after I was adopted,” After your parents died. “I was really lonely, I had a family that loved me and anything I asked for but I didn’t really have anyone to talk to” Oh god, why did you choose this story to pick? “Edward was probably the only friend my age I had for years.”
* She straightens up a little bit, a curious glint in her eyes.
* “Really?” You nod.
* “Yeah he would come by every Monday and Wednesday,” You still remember the crunch of the snow under your feet as you both walked to the barn. He always asked why you didn’t just run, and you always told him because you liked the way you could see your breath hang in the air,
* “He could have been out that time, hanging out with other people,” More well adjusted vampires, who hunted instead of harvesting small amounts from animals they raised. “or chasing girls and playing sports, but he stayed with me.”
* “He always made me feel safe, and I’m sure whoever is lucky enough to end up with him will feel that way too.”
* “I think you’re giving him too much credit” Bella finally says, you smile at her
* “what do you mean?”
* “Well, who wouldn’t drop everything to hang out with you?” You can’t tell if she’s being genuine or if she’s bitter. Your eyes meet hers and there’s a twinkle in them. ”My house is the one on the left, the one with the magnolia tree.”
* You come to a stop in front of the house she mentioned, shifting it into park, and handing her the keys.
* You don’t say anything as you climb out of her car. You see Edward stopped a few dozen feet behind her truck, your jeep still on.
* “Thanks for driving me home” She smiles at you, a real smile that reaches her eyes. It’s nice.
* “No problem, it gave me an excuse to ditch school too haha.” You both stand in awkward silence. Neither of you moving.
* Well damn what are you supposed to do now?
* “Oh, hey do you want me to bring you your homework or anything?”
* She perks up at that, reaching into her pocket
*  “If you don’t mind, could you text me what page he homework is on for trig today?”
* “ Oh for sure! No problem at all” You take her cell phone in your hand. It’s a white sidekick, with a picture of a cactus on the back. She must have gotten it when she moved.
* You can’t help but wonder if she has any friends she misses. She spent her entire life in one community, sure Phoenix is a pretty big place, but she must have had friends, people she sat with at lunch everyday, girls she had known since childhood, sleepovers where they whispered about boys they had crushes on.
* As you hand her phone back, your contact information saved in it, you can’t help but wonder who this person in front of you is. You know her, but at the same time, you know absolutely nothing about her.
* “See you Monday!” You wave goodbye as you get into the passenger side of your car, and Bella waits on the porch until you and Edward leave.
* Edward’s got that look on his face.
* “Edward why are you mad?”
* “I’m not mad.” He grumbles and you raise an eyebrow. He sighs.
* “You’re going out of your way an awful lot for that human.” He says as he turns back onto the highway.
* “It’s just the right thing to do Eddie.”
* He shakes his head, his mouth pinched into a frown
* “Just be careful, I don’t know what that one’s thinking, she could be planning to burn our entire coven for all I know.”
* You roll your eyes, yeah you bet Bella who weights exactly 115 pounds, and has anemia is single handedly planning to bring down the entire vampire race.
* “How about we make a deal, I’ll promise not to rock the boat while you and Emmett are gone-”
* “Why do I feel like I’m going to regret not covering my ears?”
*” If you promise to bring me back a bear cub - an orphaned one.” He gives you a look you don’t quite care for.
* “You want me to kill a mother bear so you can have a bear cub?”
* “No of course not! I’m just saying- Emmett doesn’t really look before he kills  so if he kills a mother bear, just make sure you bring me the cubs.”
* “Why do you even want a bear? How are you planning to take care of it with all those deer around, they need a lot-”
* “Yes Dad I know it’s a big responsibility, don’t worry I won’t make you take it on walks or anything.”
* Edward gulps hard, one hand detaching from the steering wheel to cover his mouth.
* Wouldn’t it be positively sinful for you to be underneath him, whining ‘daddy, please’ in that breathy voice of yours and-
* Edward.exe is broken.
* “Dude you really need to get your shit together before you go on your trip, we’ve been parked for fifteen minutes and your foot is still on the brake.” You say as you get out of the car
* He hits his head against the steering wheel.
* “Yeah, I really do need to get my shit together.”

Thoughts on the ship Rosalie/Bella?
While it’s a nice thought, sadly, I don’t think either Rosalie or Bella are what the other would ever seek in a partner.
Indeed, I think the other would be too close of a reminder to what they see in the worst of themselves. So, even in better circumstances, I don’t think they’d choose each other.
Let’s break that down.
What is Rosalie Looking For?
Rosalie’s past is one filled with brutal trauma, betrayal, and heartbreak. She has been violated by men in the worst of ways, betrayed by the man she thought would be her husband, and then has the surreal experience of being turned into something that, while alive, is not human.
She romanticizes the human life she could have had, clinging to it, never acknowledging that circumstances were such that she never would have had it.
Rosalie never was going to get that simple future of being a humble, good, simple man’s wife with beautiful children and a comfortable life. She was raised in society, uncommonly beautiful and charming, and was set to marry the wealthiest man she could. It might not have been Royce, she could have married a good man, but she would have married into this wealthy world and not ended up with someone like Emmett.
I think this is very telling.
For very understandable reasons, Rosalie has never confronted nor truly gotten over her trauma. Oh, she murdered her rapists and murderers, and put their deaths behind her, she married Emmett and has a (fairly) good relationship with him, but she hasn’t taken her full final steps to recovery.
I think this in part shows in her ending up with a guy like Emmett.
Emmett’s not bad, don’t get me wrong, but it’s very telling in what he loves of Rosalie and that Rosalie loves him for it.
He worships her beauty above all other things and is described as a very simple but pleasant and laidback guy. I think Rosalie is at the point where she wants to be worshipped, especially for the quality that was most valued in her human life, her beauty.
She wants to be with someone safe, someone who loves her, and that someone is definitely Emmett.
I think in the short run this works out very well for the pair of them and perhaps even in the long run. I think both could have chosen a better partner.
Rosalie is complicated, she’s not the shallow vain bitch Edward complains she is nor is she what Emmett seems to see her as. Emmett doesn’t really get his wife, or defend her all that much, he’s in love with her beautiful cheerleader persona. Rosalie, similarly, is in love with this man whose greatest attribute is his love of her. I’m sure there are moments she finds Emmett rather boorish and slow on the uptake.
What Do I Think Rosalie Needs?
To be honest, of all the characters where I raise my eyebrow at Meyer putting them with someone of the opposite gender, Rosalie’s one of the ones where they raise the highest.
Even Carlisle, when Rosalie drags in this man’s bleeding carcass, goes, “Oh, is this your cousin?” And has a “Him?!” moment when Rosalie explains this is her new husband.
I always would have expected, especially after her experiences, for Rosalie to be with a woman. That said, I do think her society’s prejudices and expectations would be a huge barrier for her and she’d have to do a lot of character growth before this would ever be possible. And I mean a lot of character growth, as in, Rosalie hasn’t reached this point even post Twilight saga.
Right, regardless of gender, I think Rosalie needs a partner who a) understands her b) does not value her looks c) accepts the good and the bad parts of her.
Like all of us, Rosalie is flawed. She’s a very impressive, down right intimidating, woman who has an iron clad will and gets what she wants. She has a deep love for her family and a great capacity for compassion. However, there are times when she’s the sixteen-year-old girl who has very much not escaped her society’s mindset. She fully advocates Bella Swan’s murder so the family won’t have to move, not realizing until Carlisle points it out that this is a heinous thing to do. Rosalie says vicious, racist, things to Jake likely never realizing exactly what it is she’s saying. She’s stubborn, proud, and as Edward put it a bit pig-headed.
Emmett tends to just go “Yeah, she’s a bitch, but she’s my bitch”. Which... great, thanks Emmett, that’s very helpful.
Bella Swan is Not That Person
Bella per the start of the series is a seventeen-year-old girl with cripplingly low self-esteem, huge parental issues, and a dangerous inclination towards depression.
Bella shows serious interest in women sexually (her relationship with Alice has some serious homoerotic undertones) but she’s also very intimidated by them. Rosalie, especially, makes Bella evaluate and feel worse about herself as she knows she will never be as beautiful as this teenage blonde goddess.
In other words, this Bella is not in a position to be the kind of person Rosalie needs. She’s too caught up in figuring out who she herself is, cares very much about Rosalie’s appearance and using it to compare against her own, and isn’t stable enough to be what Rosalie needs.
And by the end of canon... Well... Bella’s left the planet and will soon join Esme in being a hauntingly strange person entirely divorced from reality.
What if we’re in a slightly AU world?
Well, we’re banking on a lot of character development for Bella that I don’t believe can happen with Edward around. Either Bella shows interest in Edward or, well, he eats her. (No, seriously, this is canon, both Alice and Edward confirm as much.)
And if the family packs up and leaves during New Moon and never comes back... Well, of all the people Bella might end up with after that, I think Rosalie might just be the least likely (not to mention Rosalie would not be down for hanging around Edward’s stupid human girlfriend).
What is Bella Looking For?
Bella’s looking for validation of her very self. She wants to be loved, more than that, she wants to be worth something.
Bella has such a low opinion of herself that, at this point in her life, she needs this feeling to come from elsewhere. She finds this in both Edward and Jacob.
And it doesn’t matter how scary they are (and both are, indeed, very scary towards her), it doesn’t matter what it is they value, just that they both seem to want her even though she’s a foolish, clumsy, pale, ugly, human, nobody, loser.
That’s all Bella wants.
Edward’s a perfect storm in that he’s inhumanly perfect, beautiful beyond all comprehension, and completely obsessed with her. In Edward’s eyes, Bella is not just perfect, she’s fascinating.
And then, of course, she’s not and it utterly destroys her.
Basically, Bella’s is a very sad life.
What Does Bella Need?
Bella needs time to grow up and find out who she is and how to value that.
Bella is your very typical teenage girl. She’s precocious, has a lot of issues growing up with her mom, but she has a lot of issues many teenage girls do have.
I think, before Bella can find a truly good partner, she needs to learn how to value herself.
This will be painful and take a lot of time. In New Moon, I think Jake actually sets her back as she uses him to find value in herself for her (essentially replacing Edward).
Only after Bella discovers who she is, reaffirms why she is important and worthy of love, can she find someone.
What does that person look like?
Well, it sure as fuck isn’t Vampire Patrick Bateman, otherwise known as Edward Cullen. Nor is it Jake Black who sexually assaults her, tells her to kiss him or he’ll kill himself, then tells her that her dying is pointless as it means he and Edward fought over nothing.
It also isn’t Alice, who treats Bella a lot like she would a life-sized Barbie Doll rather than a friend and a human being.
I’m not sure who it is, to be honest.
Someone who recognizes who Bella is, certainly, the good and the bad. Someone who is able to... reconcile her with the world she truly lives in. Maybe, circumstances changing around a bit, it’s Carlisle Cullen? (Though that would certainly be a dumpster fire of divorce and despair with Edward and Esme) Maybe it’s Jasper (also a dumpster fire of divorce and despair with Edward and Alice)?
I really have no idea here. Unlike Rosalie, I can’t even tell you what this person would need to be like.
What I do know is...
Rosalie is Not That Person
Just as Bella views Rosalie as a threat, as something to measure herself against and feel unworthy of in every way, Rosalie does the same.
Bella is a pretty human woman who captures Edward’s attention in a way she never can. Rosalie, at the time we start canon, for all her accomplishments and all she’s done is still insecure enough that she needs to be the prettiest woman in the room.
Just as Bella’s not secure enough to be what Rosalie needs, Rosalie is not secure enough to be what Bella needs.
Rosalie also doesn’t see Bella for what she is. Rosalie sees, at first, a normal boring human teenager and dismisses her. She falls into the typical Cullen trap (for all but Carlisle) that they forget humans are people too. Later, Bella discounts Rosalie’s very earnest advice and Rosalie never forgives her for it. This is understandable, Rosalie lays her soul bare, but she forgets Bella’s a teenage girl and more can’t see what Bella herself is battling with.
Bella thinks being human is worthless because Bella thinks being Bella is worthless. Children and a human future mean nothing to her.
It would take a lot, A LOT, of character development for Rosalie to be someone that Bella needs in this situation and even then... Well, they’d have to deal with the horrifying shit show that is Edward. Because if Edward/Bella isn’t happening...
It’s lunch time.
TL;DR
I’d say pin your hopes on Alice/Bella, except that one’s not happening either for all that they do have their very homoerotic friendship.

What if Bella and Rosalie swapped places
As usual, before we even answer this, I imagine this will go dark places.
Bella Swan is Rosalie
Bella is an attractive girl, there’s no doubt about that. The day she arrives in Forks she is immediately sought after by pretty much every guy she meets until her relationship with Edward (and then Jacob) becomes established. Bella doesn’t realize as much, actively thinks of herself as plain, and this is warped self-perception is a very large part of her character.
However, she’s not hands down the most beautiful woman in a city, not the way Rosalie was. (Not helping Bella with this is her introvert personality, which in American culture will make her stand out less and generally be less noticed, vs. Rosalie who very much sounded every inch the perfect socialite and life of the party.)
My point being, Bella will not have the same reputation in Rochester that Rosalie did, not appreciate the same level of attention even if she’s running in the same social circles, and likely will not attract Royce’s notice in terms of picking her out to be his bride.
I imagine Bella, while pretty, is very awkward at parties and has a very difficult time forming social connections with anyone. I imagine this causes significant angst for her family, who want her to go out there and be, well, Rosalie Hale.
She’s probably crushing hard on Edward Cullen, the doctor’s younger brother (or whatever Edward was posing as at the time, I forget if he’d drifted into Son mode yet).
And this is where we hit a cross roads.
Bella is Still Edward’s Singer
If Bella is still Edward’s singer, then we get Twilight, the period piece. Edward becomes obsessed, can’t read her mind, agonizes over her scent, and even without Alice’s help likely eventually decides he must be in love.
So he probably sneaks through her window but also does things like pretend to court her properly like a gentleman. Carlisle’s extreme frowny face about this but doesn’t have the heart to tell Edward what he already knows: you can’t marry this girl. Esme, of course, is fully supportive and tells Edward he can eat and or marry this girl, whichever floats his boat and will make him happiest.
Without the wolves, while Bella suspects there’s something not human about Edward, she will likely not stumble on “vampire” unless she has a precognitive dream (which is entirely possible). Regardless, like canon, she won’t care. She’s in love and has found the perfect man who will love her for who she is rather than who she isn’t. She dreams of marrying Edward like he’s an ordinary man and is more than down to be a vampire.
Likely, some incident happens, Esme probably loses control and tries to eat Bella. Edward demands they abruptly leave town, never mind that he’s been in the middle of courting Bella, THAT’S NOT IMPORTANT.
Bella is devastated and utterly destroyed, as she was in canon, but now there’s no Jake to help pick her back up, no wolves to divert her focus, but also no danger of other vampires.
There is a danger called Royce though. Probably, in search for Hallucination Edward, Bella walks the streets at night in a zombie like daze. She gets gang raped by Royce and pals and dies in agony.
Edward is too busy in Rio being miserable to find out. He breaks six months later, finds out she was brutally raped to death, and travels to Volterra where he gives Aro an aneurysm. He eventually forces their hand and they execute him for breaking the law.
If there’s no catalyst to make Edward nobly leave Bella’s side, then they might very well get married. Bella is probably able to pressure him into a wedding night, and then the Renesmee debacle happens. Only, without advanced medical equipment they’re resorting to Carlisle shoving dead animals at her. This probably doesn’t work and Bella likely dies in childbirth.
We end up in a similar timeline to this with probably similar results (Carlisle ends up in Volterra with a baby, Esme and Edward are god knows where).
Bella is Not Edward’s Singer
Then, as in canon, Edward likely finds Bella rather plain and overrated. Oh, she’s not as gossippy as some of the other women but she’s still a little girl and hardly worth his notice. Her mind is a bit of a mystery, but he likely eventually decides she must be simple, as he did with Charlie Swan.
If he notices her attraction to him, then it amuses and disgusts him, this girl has no taste.
She never really gets a chance to talk to him, and if she does, he’s a complete dick. Bella’s attraction likely cools severely (as it threatened to in canon after the Biology incident where he was utterly horrible to her).
Bella likely marries young. Probably to someone of notable wealth and social class, but not Royce. The marriage is probably all but arranged and she and her husband don’t get on or quite understand each other. Perhaps this changes in time but this requires significant character development for Bella.
Though, that said, Bella could be unfortunate and gang raped by Royce and pals. In which case, Carlisle might very well save her, and then Bella becomes the new almost Rosalie.
Edward doesn’t find her as vain, but he does likely find her vapid and made dumb decisions like walking down the street at night without an escort, what a fool. Like Rosalie, Bella intrudes on the thing he has going on with Carlisle and Esme, which he does not appreciate. Bella having the miraculous control she does, barely feeling the thirst and genuinely appreciating being a vampire and all the doors it opens for her (she gets to pursue education, is not tied down by marriage, gets to leave the worst of societal norms behind, etc.) likely only aggravates this for Edward. I imagine Bella becomes and remains his least favorite sibling.
Bella desperately tries to get along with Edward but quickly realizes any hopes of romantic attention from him are delusional and the best she can hope for is quiet tolerance in front of Carlisle and Esme. If even that. Bella still tries and all her attempts fall on their face.
Rosalie Hale is Bella
I imagine that Rosalie in the modern era, in a lower middle class family, will be a significantly different person. She’s probably a tomboy and I imagine an avid athlete and 4.0 all-honors student. Her favorite activities are probably fishing and hiking with her dad and she loves the Forks/Washington area. She’s still very pretty and usually ranked the most beautiful girl in X, but it’s not quite as important to her.
I imagine her vanity from canon instead translates to a perfectionist strive to be the best at everything she does. Rosalie’s aiming for the top.
That said, given Renee, I imagine Rosalie’s home life is complicated. Like Bella, it’ll be up to her to take care of most of the adult responsibilities with Renee from a very young age. Rosalie probably vastly prefers Charlie, but she can’t abandon her mother, at least not until Phil comes along to take care of her.
I also imagine Renee gets weird about Rosalie’s looks. Bella a pretty girl, but Bella notes that her mother is prettier and at the very least more outgoing. I think this suits Renee, it makes her the center of attention. With a child like Rosalie, she’d be overshadowed, and I don’t think she’d handle that well. And there would be these subtle, not-quite, jabs to remind Rosalie of her place and that Renee is important and beautiful.
This probably leaves significant marks on Rosalie, making her relationship with both her appearance and her mother very complicated.
Regardless, Rosalie ends up in Forks for probably similar reasons to Bella. Phil shows up, she sees she’s not needed anymore/in the way, she catches the first plane to Washington.
But, of course, nothing good comes from coming to Forks.
Rosalie’s looks will immediately capture Edward’s notice. Edward noted in canon that he did/does find Rosalie very attractive, he just hates her attitude about it. I imagine it will be similar here. He and everyone else will notice Rosalie immediately, but he’ll hate her because of it as well as because of her general personality. Rosalie is not his kind of woman.
Then we get to Biology. Edward may persevere as he did in canon but a) Rosalie’s not going to be into him at all ever after that b) he can read Rosalie’s thoughts. Neither of these things will be conducive to keeping her alive.
This will more than likely lead to Rosalie’s death.

Bridal Worries
A few days go @esmeshardwoodfloors wrote THIS post about Esme and Bella and I just had to make an oneshot out of it, I hope it’s ok! I’m not sure what exactly possessed me to write this, but I hope it’s nice. We need some more Cullen girls moments.
Bella stood in front of the Cullen mansion with her hands in her pockets. A bit anxious to come inside, she glared over the enormous house, hidden in the woods like a medieval castle. All the lights were off, and if Bella didn't know who lived there, she'd think all family members were sleeping. It was the middle of the night, to be fair, but Bella couldn't force herself to sleep and needed to talk with somebody. Charlie would be the obvious choice, but he was long asleep. And even if he wasn't, Bella would rather drown than ask him the questions she had, so she wore a hoodie over her pajamas and came to the one place where no one ever slept.
Bella sighed, hesitant to come inside. She knew she's always welcomed here, but she'd never actually came there without Edward. She never came intending to spend time alone with his family, and the thought of it made her nervous, but at the same time, she felt that if she doesn't voice her worries to anybody soon, she'd combust. Suddenly, she realized that she'd like to see Esme.
Bella hadn't talked with Esme one on one many times, but she had a feeling that only she would listen to her questions without any mockery. Esme, although being only eight years older than Bella, felt like her own mother to her. The difference, however, was that Esme was way warmer than Renee, Bella realized. There were things she would be too embarrassed to talk about with Renee, things too private or too serious, and she felt no such barrier with Esme. She wondered why that was. There was something about Esme that felt very welcoming, very sympathetic - was it her gentle way of being, or the fact that she willingly took five teenagers under her roof and treated them like their own, Bella wasn't sure. She knew, however, that Esme would never mock her worries.
Edward was hunting with his brothers, and Bella assumed that Carlisle went with them. So there were only women in the house. That thought gave Bella the confidence to walk over to the front doors.
She didn't get to knock on the doors before they opened, and Rosalie stood in them, with her eyebrows risen and arms crossed on her chest.
"Bella," she said with surprise in her voice, the reluctance she once felt towards Bella almost gone.
"I hope I'm not interrupting?" Bella replied quietly. She always felt overwhelmed by Rosalie, and even though their relationship improved recently, the blonde vampire still made her uncomfortable. Bella wasn't even sure what exactly Rosalie had that made her nervous, but it was probably a combination of her impeccable perfection and the way she felt about her. They made it impossible for Bella to relax while Rosalie was around.
Rosalie rolled her eyes. "You actually are, I was just about to go to sleep."
Bella chuckled, although she wasn't sure she was supposed to. Rosalie's sarcasm often left her confused, and she couldn't tell when she was joking and when she was serious.
"Come on in," Rose let Bella inside the house and switched the lights on. "Have you come to tell us that you're not marrying my brother after all?"
"Yes, I changed my mind," Bella joked. "I realized that marriage terrifies me more than vampirism. Call the whole thing off."
Rosalie smirked. "Fine by me, but Alice might have some objections."
They went into the living room, already prepared to host the wedding tomorrow. All the beautiful furniture was gone. The Cullens moved it out to create a big, open space, with only Edward's shining piano still proudly taking its place in the corner. It made Bella gasp out. Instantly, everything seemed more real. Only seeing the white flowers strategically placed around the living room, the ribbons and garlands of tiny lights hung around the windows, it finally hit Bella that she's getting married tomorrow. Her hands trembled again, and she hid them in her long sleeves, desperate to seem tough and ready. She didn’t want Rose to feel how terrified she really was.
Rosalie watched her expectantly, her arms still crossed at her chest.
"Bella, I don't mean to be rude," she said softly. "But is there any particular reason for your visit?"
"I was hoping to talk with Esme."
A shadow of surprise glimmered across Rosalie's beautiful face, but she quickly got rid of it and nodded.
"She's in their bedroom," she replied. "Do you know the way, or should I show you?"
"I know the way."
Bella had never been in Carlisle and Esme's room before. She passed it many times, but the doors were always locked, and so it was this time. Coming inside without knocking felt incredibly inappropriate, but before her fist hit the wooden doors, she heard Esme's voice inviting her in.
The bedroom was exactly how she imagined it to be. Just as the rest of the house, the walls were white, with wooden paneling on one of them and big windows overlooking the woods and sky. The room smelled of books and fresh flowers, and every paper, every pillow knew its place. The furniture was very tasteful, dark and mahogany, and made the room like an elegant hotel - only that hotels never felt this domestic. Heavy, velvet curtains were open to show the starry sky. The only messy part of the chamber was Esme herself; she placed her easel in front of the windows and painted on an enormous canvas, with paint on her apron and fingers. Judging by the details on the piece, it was almost done.
"I'm so sorry I didn't come downstairs to welcome you before, that’s very rude of me," Esme said, tracing the brush along her painting. "But you see, the sky today is just beautiful, I needed to capture it before it changes. Tomorrow is a big day, and painting always eases my nerves."
"No need to apologize," Bella replied and stood behind Esme, glaring at her unfinished work. "It's beautiful. Edward said you paint, but I think he diminished your abilities."
"You're too kind," Esme replied with a smile and wiped her fingers onto the apron. She looked lovely, very domestic, truly the heart of the house. Bella never saw her like this, and it almost felt like invading her privacy to watch her in her element, with messy hair and paint on her clothes, still beautiful, but a bit more human. If anything, it made her seem more real.
"Do you want something to drink, love? Maybe some tea? You seem cold."
"I'm fine, thank you," Bella replied, only then realizing that she'd been hiding her hands in her long sleeves.
Esme sat on the swivel chair, leather and brown, and crossed her legs elegantly. The moonlight fell inside the room and her skin shined with faint, sparkling diamonds. Bella saw it before on Edward, of course, but she couldn't draw her eyes away.
Esme didn't speak for a solid minute. She watched Bella with a smile on her face until it became quite obvious she's waiting for her to start. Bella sat on the bed, a bit hesitantly, and tucked her hair behind her ears.
Bella was never sure how she should talk to Esme - whether she ought to treat her like a mother, or like a friend. Esme had an aura of wisdom and grace around her, but after all, she was still only twenty-six years old. The rest of the family would call her their mom sometimes, but it didn't feel comfortable to Bella. She doubted if it ever would.
"I wanted to talk with you," she started a bit bashfully. She never opened up to Renee about certain things and wasn't sure where to begin, but Esme's calm, golden eyes were glued onto her, and Bella felt she has her full attention.
"Actually, I wanted to ask you a few questions, but they're rather private."
"You can talk to me about anything," Esme smiled at her reassuringly; she truly felt so. "You seem so nervous, Bella. Is it about the wedding?"
"Mostly."
"The night before ours I was so stressed, Edward had to talk me down for hours. He would later joke that I nearly ran away," Esme confessed, a faint smile on her lips as if the remembering itself amused her a bit. Bella raised her eyebrows in surprise. She always looked up to Esme and Carlisle's relationship; she knew no bond stronger or more admirable than the love they shared. It felt odd, but very comforting to realize that they were once newlyweds, too, and faced the same challenges she and Edward stood before.
"Really?"
"Of course!" Esme shrugged. "I don't think those things change. If you asked Alice or Rose, they'd tell you the same. It's perfectly normal to be stressed."
A veil of silence fell between them for a second, before Esme cleared her throat.
"Although I have a feeling there's something else troubling you."
"There is," Bella sat more comfortably, with her legs crossed, and looked out of the windows. She wasn't the best at speaking about emotions. Her mother never taught her how to do it, and Charlie was happiest not speaking about them at all, so opening up to Esme felt new. New, but not necessarily scary. Bella found it easier if she wasn't looking at her, so she glued her sight onto the stars. "The honeymoon scares me more than the wedding itself."
Esme let out a sigh. To say she expected it would be an exaggeration, but it didn't surprise her that Bella would need guidance, and it made Esme smile that she chose her to confide in. Bella looked tiny and insecure sitting on the bed with her knees drawn to her chest. She truly looked her age then, and Esme almost ached to hug her, but she wanted to ease her nerves first.
She tried to dig deep into her memory and remember how she felt that first time, and for a second, she relived it all over again - the fear, the nerves, the excitement, all to be rewarded with bliss and love. She hoped Bella would have memories to cherish, too.
"What would you want to know, Bella?"
"Everything," she replied, still looking at the stars. "Everything I should know. I've never-" Bella started, but words got lost on their way out of her throat. "Never with a human, and a vampire... I suppose it's different."
"Well, yes, it is," Esme tried to put her words together with much consideration. "It is way more intense."
"What should I expect?" Bella whispered, feeling Esme's amber eyes on her, but she didn't turn her head.
"Oh, it's an absolutely divine feeling," Esme replied softly and placed her hands on her knees. Bella felt as if she was talking with her older sister, not Edward's mother. She should be more embarrassed, but she wasn't. "It truly bonds you for the first time, body and soul. It's very powerful, sweetheart, even more to us than to humans."
"Will it hurt?"
"I'm sure Edward will not act hastily, but I'm afraid it might be a little painful to you. In the beginning, at least. Your human body is very fragile compared to ours."
Bella looked at her with her lower lip bitten. She surmised all the thigs Esme had just told her, but it felt comforting to hear them said out loud. The way Esme spoke, calmly, softly, it all made Bella feel safe. "Is it different from... intercourse with another human?"
"Very different," Esme nodded seriously. "My experiences as a human weren't the best, as I'm sure you know, and I don't know how is it between one of us and a human, but I can only imagine it's the most heavenly. Sex between normal people is... well... when you have a comparison, it's boring."
Bella let out a chuckle when Esme blinked at her, trying her best to make her more comfortable, and it was working. Bella's tense body loosened up a bit and she finally dragged her eyes onto Esme.
"What if I'm not any good at it?" she whispered, and Esme smiled at her warmly, reassuringly. Her smile made Bella believe everything would be alright. She knew Jasper was the one to control emotions, but there was something about Esme's loving presence, about her maternal ways of being and bright eyes that Bella felt more relaxed, and she was so happy she opened up to her.
"Oh, love, nobody's good at it at the beginning," Esme replied. "But communication is the key. I know Edward is not the one to open up easily but talk to him."
"I'm afraid we're similar this way."
"You're doing wonderful tonight," she smiled. "You need to talk about it to get better at it. Voice what you like and what you don't, make Edward do the same. You have to be truly honest with each other for it to work."
Bella was watching her with her eyes opened wide, invested, focused on every word, and it made Esme love her even more. Bella deserved somebody to confide in, and she was more than happy to take that role tonight.
"It scares me," Bella whispered. "The vulnerability. I want to, of course, but at the same time..."
"Remember that you don't have to do anything you don't want to do," Esme said, way more seriously. "No pressure, love. I know it seems very scary. It's very rewarding, but it can be overwhelming."
Bella just nodded, but Esme was still piercing her with her caring eyes.
"Is Edward pressuring you into something?"
"No, God, no," Bella shook her head so lively, she heard a quiet crack in her neck. "Don't worry about... it. But he said he talked about those things with Carlisle, and I wanted to get some insight, too."
"Did he?" Esme chuckled. "I didn't know that. I wonder what Carlisle told him."
"What you told me, basically," Bella shrugged softly and yawned loudly, making Esme smirk. She suddenly felt very sleepy. Talking with Esme eased her nerves a bit, and she felt she could fall asleep peacefully now.
"I'm so glad you came to me, Bella. It's really my pleasure to help you with anything you need."
"Thank you."
"Did I help a bit?"
"You did," Bella replied, standing up from the bed and smiling at her. "You really did. Thank you for listening to me. I didn't know who to talk to about it. Alice probably wouldn't help at all, and Edward... you know."
"Oh, I do," Esme laughed and stood up to take Bella into a long, tight embrace. Bella returned it thankfully; although Esme’s skin was cold as ice, the hug seemed warmer than any other. Bella yawned again, and Esme laid a kiss onto her forehead.
"You should really go to sleep, love," she said. "Tomorrow is a big day. You can sleep in Edward's room if you don't feel like driving."
"No, no, I have to go back," Bella mumbled, her arms still wrapped around Esme. "Charlie isn't a fan of my night escapades. I should be home in the morning. One last time."
She left the Cullen house feeling as if an enormous weight had been pulled off her chest. As she was driving home, she made a mental note to always come to Esme with her future worries.

Dating Rosalie Hale Would Include: (Male Reader)
It was a normal day for Rosalie
It felt like the millionth time she went to college, she couldn’t go to ivy league colleges every time- although she wished she could since now she was at an underfunded local college, she was just glad she didn’t need to suffer within the dorms which were- less then hygienic
She already had taken this course dozens of time so her mind was else where, that was until the smell hit her
Something so alluring, it almost drove her mad, suddenly an intense urge to go find something consumed her, she knew what this feeling was, she knew it was her mate- the stories the other told her about described this feeling- she was about to get up and follow it when the door creaked open.
She looked over and saw a young man walk into the room- he looked confused and somewhat embarrassed- it’s him, is all she thought.
Everything about her drew her in, she wanted to run up and embrace him that very second but she knew she couldn’t
She looked around the room, there were a few open chair around the room but most of them were around her- the other humans could instinctively tell something was off with her, that she was a predator even if they didn’t consciously know it- she prayed he would choose a seat next to her
As the younger boy gave a slip to the teacher and then made his way up the aisles to find a seat- they locked eyes for a moment.
Your entire face ran hot as you made eye contact with one of the most beautiful women you’d ever seen, she quite literally took your breath away
You saw nearly half the aisle she was in was empty.
You weren’t quite ballsy enough to sit right next to the beautiful girl in your class- this wasn’t some cheesy romance movie and you didn’t want to make it obvious
so you sat two chair away from her, your palms sweat slightly when she looked at you and smiled- something about her made you nervous but you still wanted to get to know her.
You spend the whole class trying your best to pay attention but being distracted by the fact that Rosalie keeps looking at you- looking strangely excited
Which was accurate, she was practically over the moon, you didn’t sit right next to her but you were close enough- for now.
She had been desperately searching for a mate for her entire life- even her human one.
She has so desperately wanted to be loved, she died because she trusted the wrong man with her love.
She just wanted to be held by someone she loved, to feel a loving embrace, to simply exist in the presence of someone who loves he unconditionally
That’s why she brought Emmett to Carlisle, she thought she finally found someone who would love her.
And Emmett did, but not the way she wanted. He loved her as a Sister, a Friend- but that wasn’t enough
She was so excited but also so terrified of messing up her one opportunity at love- she was ultimately going to leave it up to you whether or not you would date, she didn’t want to pressure you into anything because of how she felt.
So that’s how it went on for almost a week, casting a shy glance at Rosalie and meeting her sweet smile.
You laughed sometimes at how cold she looked whenever anyone else interacted with her but when you so much as looked at her she looked as if she couldn’t hurt a fly
You wanted to say hello but you were so terrified that you had misread the signs and she just wanted to be alone.
So you decided you would simply sit down in the seat next to her but not say anything- you’d leave that up to her
You nearly jumped out of your skin when she said hello.
You looked over and almost got lost in her strangely color honey eyes- they matched her hair, it was beautiful
“Hello!” You snapped out of it, “Uhm, I’m new, I don’t think we’ve ever actually talked.” You hadn’t that why you were so nervous and your heart was beating a mile a minute.
“I’m Rosalie,” She smiled, “And your Y/N, right?”
“Uhm yeah, how’d you know?”
“I heard you talking to the teacher once, don’t worry I’m not stalking you.” Which was true, she always looked down on how Edward would handle the situation with Bella, so she let you have your space
“Oh,” You said slightly embarrassed at how loud you must’ve been talking
“Well it’s nice meeting you Rosalie, we should talk more often, I don’t know many people around here.” You sucked in a nervous breath, almost dying on the spot when she didn’t respond immediately
“Oh, I’d love that.” Her voice was soft but sweet
From that day forward you two would chat before and after class- about everything.
Simple things like what your favorite things were, what things you disliked, to more complicated things like family. You both could talk about anything and everything and even if you disagreed it was okay, you both accepted it.
You found yourself constantly getting lost in her voice as she told you about her life, her family, literally anything and you were in-captured
You started hanging out, outside of school
First place you went was your favorite cafe- which she was reluctant by but agreed. She ordered a cappuccino
“Rose, you don’t need to drink it if you don’t like it”
“I’m not much of a... coffee person.”
“Then why did you- you know what it’s okay.” You laughed
You decided to find things other then cafe’s to go to
You go to the movies
To parks and just talk, or to goof around
She takes you shopping when your one jacket get’s damaged and she learns you can’t afford a new one with your student loans and student housing debt
Girl wants to cry when she learns how crappy your dorm room is- constantly has leaks from the rain, loud obnoxious dormmates, light’s that constantly flicker and give you headaches.
She makes a vow to try and make your college experience as pleasant as possible.
After a month she finally asks you out
You choke on you drink but manage to wheeze out a yes as she pats your back
She takes you to a cafe- opts to not order anything- and then to the park where she planned a cute little picnic
She’s been planning this for decades and she’d be damned if she didn’t spoil the hell out of you
She ends up rambling about cars when you compliment hers.
Is so happy when you respond with your rudimentary knowledge of cars
She’s so elated the entire day
She drives you to your dorm.
“Are you sure you’ll be okay getting home, Rose? It’s after dark and I wouldn’t mind taking you home.”
“I’ll be fine Y/N... thank you for worrying.”
“Alright... just please be safe alright?”
“Same goes for you.”
There’s a moment of pause and you work up the courage to halfly do what you’d been wanting to all day.
You kiss her cheek
Then rush inside as you almost hyperventilate- was dating supposed to be this nerve-wracking?
You almost don’t go to class the next day
She’s smiling ear to ear when she see’s you
“So about last night-”
“Uh- sorry i should’ve asked- I don’t know what I was thinking, heh, I understand if-”
“No, I liked it.”
“oh”
You blush for the rest of the class
Practically skip back to the dorms
She texts you later that day and asks if you’d want to come to her house during the weekend
You agree although nervous to meet her family so soon
She picks you up in her convertible.
You both find out you have similar taste in music- you sing the songs with her and both laugh at how poorly the both of your singing was
When you pull up you gawk at her house
“Rose your rich.”
“Only slightly.”
“Women- you have a mansion and a convertible- I have a whole in the wall and not even a tire to roll in.”
She laughs and leads you inside
“Y/N!” You almost get tackled by a small pixie like girl,
“Alice!” Rosalie practically hissed yanking her off you
“Uhm- It’s okay? Hi?” You were confused but didn’t want to hurt anyones feelings by being mean
“Sorry, Rosalie.” The pixie girl giggled as a blonde man appeared behind her- are all these people like insanely attractive?
“Y/N! I’m so glad to meet you, I know we’ll be great friends! This is my husband Jasper!” She gestured to the blonde man who smiled stiffly at you.
“Well, Hi. It’s nice meeting you finally, Rose told me a lot about you guys.”
“All good thing I hope,” A kind woman looking in her mid twenties called out from across the room, “Alice why don’t you let Y/N take two steps in the door before you nearly tackle him to the ground.”
You have an awkward but pleasant meeting with everyone before Rosalie swiftly drags you to her room- obviously embarrassed.
“So your family is nice- little odd but nice.” You say when you enter her room.
“Don’t tell them that, it’ll go straight to their heads.”
You end up inspecting her entire room, lots of books on cars- but a lot of other things as well, Medical books, mathematical books, Shakespeare, scientific books and collectibles
“Uhm Rose?”
“Yes?”
“Are you... a genius?”
“No, but I am smart.”
“Rose, your rich, pretty, nice, smart- why the hell are you seeing me?”
You said it in a joking manor but when you looked over you could tell she was taking it very seriously
“Don’t ever say that Y/N.”
“I’m sorry- I didn’t know it’d upset you.”
“It’s okay- just please don’t joke about that sort of thing, your the only person I want to be with.” She breathed out before putting a smile on her face, “Anyways, What do ya wanna do?”
You end up spending the day talking and she shows you around the house, then shows you the cars she’s working on- You also talk to her family some more- Alice and Esme adore you, so do the others they’re just more quiet about it
You end up staying way later then intended,
“I should probably go back to the dorms, I’d hate to keep you guys up to late.”
“Ah right.” Rosalie said awkwardly, “You’re probably tired.”
“Slightly but considering I always stay up to finish paper I’m fiii- Oh no.”
“What’s wrong?”
“I HAVE A PAPER DUE TOMORROW AND I HAVEN’T EVEN STARTED- I GOTTA GO.” You said practically sprinting out the house,
“Y/N- I drove you here!”
You turn around and grab her hand- not even thinking about being embarrassed- “We have to go!” You announced, hurrying out of the house.
You end up speeding home with her and she spends the night helping you with the paper- finding it cute how stressed you got over a relatively easy paper
She ends up spending the night- your dorm mates don’t mind since they’ve had done much more inappropriate things with women while you were in the room then sleep
Rosalie ends up pretending to sleep until you fall asleep, loving it when you- while still asleep- throw an arm around her and cuddle up to her
“I’m really glad I met you.” She said softly letting you sleep in her arms, knowing your safe helps her relax and she gets as close to sleep as a vampire can get
Loves how you look when you wake up- hair disheveled, cheeks flushed , eyes droopy.
“You’re so handsome.” She said kissing your nose- smiling when she hears your heart beat quicken.
“That’s rich coming from the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met.”
“Would you guys stop it with that sappy shit!” Your dorm mate said throwing a shoe at you- Rosalie somehow cached it and chucked it back at him.
“Sorry about them.”
“It’s alright, it’s worth it to spend time with you.”
You guys are pretty sappy 94% percent of the time- the other 6% of the time you are on some crackhead shit
“Rose look at this!” “Y/N DON’T GO ON THE CHANDELIER--”
She basically is the only reason your alive
She loves when you pick her up- like loves it more then life itself
She finally gets the loving and comfortable embrace she’s been longing
Will leap into your arms so your guard is always up
Your first kiss is simple but amazing, she doesn’t want to stop  but knows she has too
Once you share that first kiss the damn has been broken
Long make-out sessions, quick kisses goodbye, sloppy kisses, french kisses, Eskimo kisses, butterfly kisses- you guys do them all.
One time she  bit your lip and pulled on it slightly- you let out a moan and that girl had to physically restrain herself from going further
When becoming more intimate comes up she decides to tell you
She just straight up comes up to you and says it
“Stop panicking-”
“I made out with a vampire- why don’t you have fangs?”
“That’s a myth.”
“Oh wow- that’s a myth but what about the blood thing- cause I love you but I don’t know if I’m into that.”
She explains everything to you calmly- answering all you questions
You end up getting pretty excited and rambling about all sorts of things
“Omg, can you turn into a bat because that’d be sick.”
“No- You’re taking this very well.”
“I’m dating a gorgeous, strong, vampire woman- I couldn’t be happier.”
Rosalie loves you so much
From that day forward there are no secrets
She tells you everything- even about Roy.
You hold her when she starts to get emotional, stroking her back softly
“Thank you for being... you.” She mumbles into you chest.
“It’s my pleasure.”
On a happier note, she loves kissing your neck
Kissing your nose
Kissing you just about everywhere
Holding your hand is a must everywhere
You watch her work on cars and talk to her
She teaches you a few things
Stroking your hair
She spoils you with gifts- you ask her to stop because it’s overwhelming you
You guys don’t wait to get intimate.
In her car or in your dorm is your go to places- the thought of her family or your roommates hearing you makes you skittish
All I’m gonna say is she like’s having power
She only turns you because you get sick- extremely sick.
Treatments aren’t working and Carlisle know’s you won’t make it
He pumps you full of drugs so you don’t feel as much of it as possible
Rosalie holds you and is on the verge of tears that won’t seem to spill
Want’s to take your pain away when you clutch at her blouse and plead with her to make it stop,
“I’m so sorry, Y/N. But I can’t loose you.”
She knew you wanted to be a vampire- she let you make the decision- and the pain was just taking over, but it still killed her
Hold’s you in her arms for day’s waiting for you to wake up
When you do she doesn’t let go
“Rose- Can I get up please?” You rasp out- your throat unbearable dry
“Oh of course.”
Rosalie can’t help but smile when she see’s you smiling at her
She’s about to speak when Alice bursts in the room carrying a mirror “Oh. Y/N you’re so handsome you must see!”
Everyone is somewhat sympathetic but also excited
Rosalie drags you away and swear she’ll be the only one who teaches you about being a vampire- and she does
You guys are an iconic and powerful duo
You insist on carrying her around bridal style since you obtained your newfound strength
She isn’t complaining
Speaking of bridal
You guys get married a few years after your turned
Alice want’s to plan it all and go all out- but you and Rosalie want to plan a smaller arrangement
It’s cute- Alice could’ve made it cuter but it was cute
Wanting to cry during the vows
You guys can break it down on that dance floor- she gave you lessons
You guys go to Paris for your honeymoon- and let’s just say the wedding night does not disappoint
Although the others in the hotel who wanted to sleep are disappointed
You guys are so unbelievably happy together
You’re so glad you found each other, so glad you got to be with the other.
You don’t know what the future holds but whatever happens you know you can get through it together because you have each other.
(Opinions? Also techinically I didn’t lie it did come out when I said it’s just kinda late lmao) @iiconicsfan25 i hope this was okay

1977 Homecoming
If my heart could be pounding, it would be. If my body could lift my feet with any more anxious haste, it would. The cold wind broke against my skin, the snowflakes only lingering in the fibers of my clothes. It was well below freezing; I was sure this blizzard would be record breaking. I hadn’t seen this much snow in New York State since I was a child. As we ran, I tried to remember the Christmases I’d spent with my human family. The faces of my mother, father, and brothers were fading from my memory. The pain I always felt when I thought of them flooded through me. It wasn’t a raging agony anymore; it was rather dull and nagging. My life, after all, was not entirely riddled with sadness. Though my human family would never be replaced in my heart, my new family loved me and I, them. New? Well, in the context of eternity, it was in the realm of ‘new.’
We had stopped once on this journey from British Columbia to New York as we crossed paths with a friend in Saskatchewan. It wasn’t my first introduction to Garrett, but Jasper was freshly engrossed with Garrett’s patriotism. And Garrett was more than eager to swap war stories. This was also Garrett’s first time meeting Alice, so our initial stumbling upended to an extended stall. I was bored within the first hour. Battle had never interested me and though I loved my Alice, the curio displays of her gifts to each old friend we encountered had become monotonous. It was no better than enduring the years of Carlisle and Esme fawning over Edward when we were still a small family. While they all talked animatedly around the fireplace of a vacant cabin, I read the paper I had grabbed as we walked through the town. The date was January 23rd, 1977.
Christmas of ’76 had been mostly uneventful. We had spent the holiday with our ‘cousins,’ Tanya, Kate, Irina, and Carmen and Eleazar. Though, of course, we had to leave sooner than I would have liked because of Tanya’s constant advances toward Edward. I laughed to myself then, at the thought of anyone finding Edward to be a good romantic match. How funny, I thought, that Carlisle had once hoped that I would be that perfect pairing for Edward.
Of course Edward was beautiful; we all were. But he was handsome, still. I was sure he had been in his human life, too. He was also a gentleman, refined, and certainly someone who would have made a quality match for me when I was just a human girl. But Edward was much more than those simple things, too. Edward was witty and kind. He was talented and well-educated out of interest, not because he felt obligated to fill his time. There was also a part of him that understood me, and I didn’t chalk it up to the mind-reading. No, Edward valued mortality and the virtues of humanity in the same manner I did, I was sure.
Carlisle couldn’t have known me well enough in my human life to truly know that Edward and I would have so much in common, but it did seem to pan out perfectly. By all accounts, Edward was exactly my counterpart; of all my family and all those we came across in this new life, Edward and I were still the most alike. But if likeness equaled a perfect match, then Edward and I had broken the mold.
We were still running, through the tall red oaks and ash trees coated in ice and snow. I had let myself fall a bit behind, letting my thoughts wander. But I was back in the present now, and searching for my imperfect match. She was ahead of me, bounding through the snow with a childlike enthusiasm, moving like a tornado through the forest. Her long, chaotic brown curls were thick with ice. Her long, imposing body charged through the blizzard, her muscles dancing beneath her pearlescent skin. She was unaware of me, totally enthralled by the thrill of the wind, the blistering cold, and the sleet of ice. No one enjoyed being what we were more than my Eleanor.
I juxtaposed the day I carried her home to Carlisle in my arms, battered and broken, to watching her leap through the snow as she did now, a titan, a fearless woman, and smiled proudly. God, how I feared that she would resent me for how I had damned her. Until I had found her lying helplessly on the forest floor, I had never truly known Carlisle. How I had hated his selfishness, his cowardice in facing death, until I was the selfish one begging for the life of a stranger.
Eleanor thought I had saved her, but truthfully, she saved me. She saw me as an angel when I was nothing more than a monster. The guilt of my selfishness waned with time as I saw how much joy this new life brought her. Eleanor embraced everything with barefaced ardor. She was rough and intense and unrefined. She was easily distracted and entertained by each passing moment. She was unfocused and happy. Eleanor had a burning fervor to make the most of every amusement. She found no guilty pleasures, for every pleasure was unburdened; she was completely free.
I had never found myself attracted to women, though I was sure there would be no other woman, or man, on earth that could capture me the way she had. I had thought myself to be a romantic, but I had never truly known love, it seemed. Eleanor consumed me, slowly and surprisingly. A few years had passed before I had realized the devotion I felt for her was something more. I was relieved when I discovered she felt the same for me. How, in my damnation, was I allowed a miracle?
She suddenly turned toward me and stopped, blocking my path with her body. We collided swiftly and she wrapped her arms around me as she pulled me down into a thick snowbank. Eleanor’s laugh echoed through the trees and drowned in the howling wind.
“What are you doing?” I said into her hair.
“You’re going so slow,” she said. “We might as well take a break.”
“A break,” I huffed. “We’re almost there.”
I was locked in her iron grip, trapped in the snow pile against her as she chuckled. I moved to see her face and her expression became more serious. Eleanor brought a hand up to my forehead, brushing the hair there back behind my ear with her fingertips.
“What are you thinking about?” She was staring intently into my eyes, the question burning there.
I shrugged, “My love for you.”
She smiled sweetly, closing the distance between our lips as she cupped my face in her strong hands. Oh, her hands. They began to wander my body as we kissed more deeply. My hands were locked in her hair as she turned us over, pinning my back in the snow. The feeling of her body pressed against mine sent me into a frenzy. She was removing my clothes before I could catch myself falling into the fray.
“No,” I whined, pulling my lips from hers.
She kissed more fervently down my neck. I fought her hands to secure my shirt.
“Eleanor, we’re almost there,” I said. “Please.”
She groaned, lifting herself off me quickly. She stood in the snow a few feet away as I redressed myself.
“You’re awfully keyed up about this whole farm thing,” Eleanor crossed her arms as she argued. “I don’t see you as a farm girl.”
“I’m not,” I said proudly. “But this is different. You’ll see.”
She was unconvinced, but held a hand out for me to lead the way. I started ahead and she started clapping.
“God, I love to watch you walk away!” she said loudly.
I took off in a sprint and she followed.
I wanted to go home. When I was new and young and our family had to leave Rochester, Carlisle, Esme, Edward and I moved to a little stone house on the outskirts of the small town of Maine, New York. The house had been standing for at least a hundred years at that time, and while we stayed there, Esme spent her time restoring it. By the time we left to go further south for Carlisle, Edward and I to study medicine, the house had become a home. We left a family. For that reason and so many others, the house in Maine was my home. And I’d never shared it with my Eleanor.
I began to slow again as we approached. I wanted to walk at a human pace; enjoy every perfect detail. The house was atop a gentle hill situated in a large clearing. It was surrounded by towering white spruces and red oaks all blanketed with heavy frost. The long house was entirely stone, aside from a few additions from Esme where the Tudor style matched perfectly, as if they had always belonged. The paned windows were thick with ice like everything else, the snow piled high above the few small front steps to the door. Eleanor and I trudged forward, the snow above my waist. As we got closer to the door, I reached for her hand.
“Welcome home,” she said coolly.
I smiled and moved to open the door. Snow ran into the small foyer, dumping onto the stone floor as we quickly hopped in. I kept her hand in mine as I walked her through the rooms, telling the stories that came to mind. When we were back in the front room, she moved to the fireplace to start to build a fire. The others weren’t far behind. They would be joining us soon. When the beech wood was crackling with the roar of the flames, I joined Eleanor at the hearth. The snow and ice began to melt, thawing us both.
“A bath?” Eleanor suggested.
I nodded and hummed, “Mhmm.”
We were both drenched from the blizzard; our clothes had no hope of drying against our frigid skin. Though I couldn’t be uncomfortable, a warm bath sounded nice. Eleanor was gone then and I could hear the sound of the water running far down the long hallway.
My bedroom had the best view; Esme had insisted on it. Eleanor was standing at the far end of the room, bent over the large claw foot tub that sat in front of a set of wide French doors. She had the doors wide open, filling the room with the horizon, the afternoon light, and the faintest sprinkling of snowflakes. They danced through the air like pixies in the wind.
Eleanor turned to me after she had stopped the faucet.
I removed my clothes slowly, revealing myself to her. She did the same for me, removing her clothes as we admired one another. We didn’t speak. My golden hair was dripping, creating pools around my feet. She extended a hand to me and I crossed the room toward her with inhuman speed. I closed the distance between us, stone to stone as we collided. As we kissed, I felt a rush of peace. A gentle hum trilled my body.
We made it to the tub eventually where we sat, legs tangled together, facing each other as we looked out the doors and watched the snowfall. The neighbor that took care of the property kept horses at the stables here. We watched them as they tunneled through the snow that crested their chests, their brown coats casting a stark contrast to the heavy blanket of white.
“I love you,” Eleanor said softly.
I turned to her. “I love you.”
We stayed there until the water had lost its warmth. Eleanor and I dressed and met the others in the living room when they arrived. Once everyone had changed out of their wet clothes, we picked up our regular activities. Eleanor and Jasper left on a hunting trip to the Adirondacks. Edward went to tune the long-forgotten grand piano, then spent the evening composing something new. Esme and Alice made plans to visit the New York City for a shopping trip, chatting by the fireplace. Carlisle and I sat in matching armchairs, discussing my schooling and the new medical techniques Edward and I had been learning. We would be returning to school in a week when the new semester began again. We spoke for hours about medicine. Alice would chime in every now and then to explain what the future of medicine would look like in the next few decades; there were going to be incredible advancements. Edward would pick the images from Alice’s mind and explain the procedures and technology to us. Carlisle and Esme were beaming with pride as Alice and Edward dazzled them with their synchronized talents.
I wasn’t ‘gifted’ the way my siblings were, but I was never one to feel second-best. Though, at times, I wondered if I should. Was vanity clouding my judgment?
I was sure Edward had heard me. He made a polite excuse to leave the house. The others went to join him, leaving me at the fireplace to wait for Eleanor to return. I wasn’t interested in going out in the blizzard again. And I was grateful to Edward for giving me a reprieve – but I heard footfall coming back toward the house.
Carlisle was back quickly, dusting the snow from his hair in the doorway. I sighed and he smiled apologetically. I turned back to the fire.
“You didn’t have to come back to comfort me.”
His voice was soft. “I didn’t,” he agreed. “But I need to apologize.”
He was next to me at the hearth then, a hand on my knee.
I turned to face him. “It’s not fair for him to tell you every fleeting thought that passes through my head.”
“You know he wouldn’t betray your privacy, Rosalie.”
 “I’m not jealous,” I said.
“You’re so much more than beautiful, Rose,” Carlisle spoke gently. “I’m so very proud of you, daughter. Of your strength and grace. Of your resilience.”
I nodded.
“Come now,” Carlisle continued. “Don’t allow another fleeting thought.”
We chuckled lightly.
“Can I convince you to join us?” He stood, holding a hand out to me.
I would never refuse him. I took his hand, and we ran through the snow following the trail of our family.

The Long Way Around ~ Chapter 13
Link to previous part: https://bonjour-rainycity.tumblr.com/post/624296456441020416/the-long-way-around-chapter-12
Pairing: Jasper x Reader
Word count: 3911 (yikes, t’is a doozy)
Warnings: Language and violence
Y/n’s POV
Jasper immediately tenses, taking a defensive stance quite similar to Arthur’s. “How many?”
“Six,” Alice answers, her voice shaky.
“Six?!” I hear the panic in my own voice, but can’t force it down. This is not good.
“Damn it,” Jasper growls, darting closer to my side.
“What are their intentions?” Carlisle’s calm demeanor never fades.
Alice concentrates, scrunching her eyes. Whatever Jasper feels from her makes him tense.
“They mean war then,” he concludes, his voice low.
Alice nods, biting her lip. “They want our territory, and they’ve been looking for an excuse to start a fight.”
“And we just gave it to them,” Carlisle laments, head falling in shame.
“Carlisle,” Edward comes to a swift stop near Emmett. “I can hear their thoughts—they’re about five miles away. They’re coming under the pretense of peace, but Alice is right. As soon as they have the opportunity, they’ll try to destroy us.”
Emmett cracks his knuckles, the picture of grim determination. “They won’t get the chance. We’ll swing first.”
“No,” Carlisle shakes his head, authority seeping from his voice. “Perhaps there’s a chance to resolve this peacefully. I would like to exhaust negotiations before we resort to a fight.” Carlisle calls for the rest of the family, beckoning them to join us outside the home. While they gather, Jasper grabs my hands tightly, speaking in a low voice.
“If someone gets a hand on you, fight back. Use your ability, bite them, whatever. Just don’t let them get a good hold on you.”
I nod, trying to soak up the information and keep awareness of our surroundings. Five miles for vampires is nothing, and I wonder how quickly the other coven will be upon us.
Jasper continues, speaking so fast I have to concentrate to understand him. “If they go for your neck, bring your arms to their own head. Pull down and twist at the same time, and you should be able to decapitate them. Fall with your momentum, that will give you extra leverage. Do not get near a fire, especially if you’re injured. That could kill you. Stay as close to me, Emmett, or Alice as you can. We’re the best fighters. Edward is a good next choice, though he’ll be distracted, keeping an eye on Bella and everyone’s thoughts. If all else fails, act on instinct, and rely on your ability as much as possible. Remember, if you don’t kill them, they will kill you.”
I gulp, fear resting in a pit in my stomach. I don’t want to kill anyone, and I really don’t want anyone from my new family to get hurt. But Jasper is right. This is kill or be killed.
The sound of approaching footfalls sends me into a panic, and I throw myself into Jasper’s arms. He hugs me tightly and kisses my forehead. Then, with a final, determined look, he releases me and goes to stand at the front near Carlisle.
Our family makes up a loose formation, and I assume it has some strategic benefits that are lost on me. Carlisle takes point, though he is flanked closely by Emmett and Jasper. Emmett with his strength and Jasper with his experience makes sense, but Carlisle towards the front makes me nervous. I know he is there to express our diplomatic intentions, but I have a feeling that if it comes to a fight, he will be in significant danger. Bella and Edward are next, arms around each other and looking determined. To my right are Alice and Arther, holding hands, and I can tell by Alice’s expression she is keeping careful watch of our future. Towards the back, Rosalie and I stand slightly in front of Esme, trying to keep her out of view. I really, really hope Esme stays safe. The desire to protect my kind, selfless mother-figure is strong, and I swallow, determined to do my best to keep her from harm. Although I must admit, given my limited experience, most of the burden will be placed on Rosalie. By the set in her shoulders, I know she’s aware of this.
The branches sway slightly as six unknown vampires come to a stop a hundred feet in front of Carlisle. Two women, four men, all with bright red eyes. None near as burly as Emmett, but all bigger than Alice. I feel a flash of worry for my new sister.
Carlisle breaks the silence and forces me to refocus. “Welcome. Allow me to introduce my family.” He points us out according to our formation, careful to group us and subtly remind the others that the are outnumbered. Are they scared, I wonder? Only Jasper or Edward would know. But Edward’s head does not move to answer my thoughts, and I realize he’s keeping carefully still so as not to alert the other vampires of his ability. Smart. I will keep mine a secret too, then, for as long as I can.
“It is lovely to meet you all,” the woman towards the front of the other group, the leader, I presume, speaks but doesn’t introduce her own coven. Her voice is silky, smooth, and slightly accented. I find myself leaning forward, wanting to hear her speak more. Thankfully, she does. “We’ve been aware of your presence for a while, though fearful to approach. It seems that while you preach peace towards humans, you follow a law of violence in regard to your own kind.”
“My apologies.” Carlisle matches her conversational tone, though his is nowhere near as pleasing to the ears. “I must admit, we were on our guard after a member of your coven attacked one of ours.”
“Oh, yes,” the woman laments, her crimson eyes immediately locking on Esme. I push down the growl threatening to rise. “We do regret the treatment of your sweet wife. Hélene is one of our more…” she hums lightly, beginning to twirl one of her dark braids around her finger, “aggressive members. Or,” she fixes Carlisle with a chiding stare, “should I say, was.”
Carlisle clasps his hands, looking repentant. “Yes, it is regrettable what happened in the woods. It is my wish that no further violence take place between us.”
“Ah,” the woman tsks, taking a small step in our direction. I tense, as does nearly everyone around me, but she makes no further move to approach. “How can there be peace between us when you keep such a feral vampire in your group? It is interesting that you would keep one of us among you. Wouldn’t you rather be with your own kind, dear? Somewhere you can hunt humans without the,” she sighs dramatically, shaking her head, “oppression?”
Rosalie’s hand clasps around my wrist, tightening. The message is clear. Don’t speak.
Following Rosalie’s direction, I keep silent. Instead, it is Carlisle who answers the woman. “I assure you, Y/n is part of our family and is learning to follow our lifestyle of her own volition. Her eyes are red because she is a newborn. Soon, her eyes will resemble ours.”
The woman grimaces, obviously displeased. “And she cannot speak for herself? Please, allow me to meet the girl who is responsible for the deaths of my friends. Come forward, dear.”
I take a step forward, then another, despite Rosalie’s ever-tighter grip and not knowing when I consciously decided to begin moving. Jasper takes a quick step so he’s blocking my path, and Edward shoots out an arm to stop me. Why?
“Careful, the woman is particularly convincing. Her gift has even taken Aro’s notice.”
The woman laughs in delight, and, still, I want to run towards her voice. So beautiful, so inviting. “And how would you know, sweet Edward?” Then her eyes light up in understanding. “Unless, you have a gift that has captured Aro’s attention as well?”
Edward ignores the woman aside from fixing her with a hard stare.
“A man of few words, I see,” she says, sounding disappointed. “No matter. Carlisle, I join you in your desire for peace.” I relax, glancing at Alice in hopes that her expression will confirm my conclusion: that the danger is gone, that a fight will be avoided. But instead I see her look of horror, followed by Edward’s snarl, and my hopes are dashed. They are replaced by fear.
“Until that peace can be achieved though,” the woman shakes her head in mock sadness, “I’m afraid we will need recompense for the murder of our friends. An eye for an eye, I suppose.”
Jasper snarls, the sound sending a new wave of fear through me. Still, it’s not enough to drown out the woman’s soft, inviting voice.
“Y/n, come here please.”
I know she is using her ability on me. I can feel it settling over my body and pricking at my mind. I know better than to step forward.
But I can’t stop myself. I’m not even able to form the thoughts necessary to halt my steps. All I can focus on is her voice and following her command.
I speed up, meaning to run to her.
A freight train slams into my side, knocking me straight to the ground. I struggle, and when the blonde braid smacks me in the face, I rename the freight train as Rosalie.
“Rose, let me go, I-I need to-”
“Y/n, stay down, she’s going to kill you.” I feel a set of hands on my shoulders and recognize them as Esme’s.
The woman tsks again. “Now, now, it is only fair. Count your blessings. We only require the death of one to repay the deaths of two. Were we vengeful, we would demand more of your heads.”
“Carlisle,” Edward mutters, obviously hoping only our family will hear. “They saw how you all rushed to Y/n’s aid in the woods, they’re trying to start a fight. They want our territory and need us to attack first in order to justify their actions to the Volturi. Aro-” whatever Edward was about to say is interrupted by the woman’s sweet, melodic voice.
“Or, perhaps he would volunteer to die in the place of his young mate? Jasper, come forward.”
“No!” My shriek echoes through the yard, but seems to fall on deaf ears.
The woman croons and beckons him with a single finger. Jasper’s eyes glaze over, and I know he’s under the influence of her gift as I was mere seconds ago.
He takes a single step forward. Then another.
The woman smiles. “That’s it, Jasper. Come to me.”
He takes another step forward, nearly passing Carlisle, and I panic. Edward and Bella hurry to grab him, to stop him, but Jasper is too quick. He dodges their advances and continues his pace towards the woman, whose smile has turned sadistic.
I throw Rosalie and Esme off me, running to him.
“Jasper, don’t you dare!” I fling myself in front of him, grabbing his face in my hands and forcing him to look at me.
He blinks, shakes his head, and then the spell is broken. Thank goodness. He briefly buries his face in my hair and inhales before pushing me behind him.
The woman sighs, seeming only mildly inconvenienced. “Oh well.”
Then, she lunges for Carlisle’s throat.
Emmett attacks from the side, plowing her into the dirt. The remaining five vampires hurry to join the fight. Jasper growls, pushing me further back into our group.
A pair of hands grabs my shoulders and forces me to the side. I bring my leg up to kick my assailant away, but it’s only Rosalie, pushing me to avoid a sandy-haired vampire. I gasp and stumble back, only to have someone lock their hand around my wrist.
“Hello there,” the vampire croons, using his free hand to reach towards my face. Acting on instant, I grab it, and use his hold on my other hand to throw him on the ground. He kicks behind my knees, causing me to fall on top of him and rolls so I’m pinned beneath his weight. He leans down, teeth bared, intent on biting me. The growl that rips through my is fierce and, momentarily, I can see the fear in his eyes. I claw at his face, creating a deep gash, and he howls. I use his distraction against him and flip us. He breaks free from my grip and reaches for my neck.
Someone pulls me off of the man and I panic until I see Arthur’s grim face to my right. “Hold his arm.”
I do as he says, noticing Alice mirroring my actions on the man’s other side. Without warning, Arthur surges forward and grips the man’s head in his hands. A twist, pull, and a terrible screech later, Arthur holds the man’s severed head. I gasp, releasing the man’s arm and stumbling back. Shit.
Alice produces a lighter and sets the man ablaze. An awful smell fills the air.
“Five,” Arthur calls out, tossing the man’s head into the flames.
A pained, infuriated scream pierces the air, and all heads whip towards Rosalie who clutches her shoulder. I run to her, but Jasper and Emmet are already there, quickly doing to her assailant as Arthur, Alice, and I had done to mine.
“Four,” Emmett declares, hurrying to check on Rosalie. Edward and Bella cover their backs while Emmett sucks the venom out.
I toss my head around wildly, searching for Jasper. Where is he? Where is he?!
I finally find him about fifty yards east of his previous location, wrestling with the leader of the enemy coven. Emmett must’ve let her go to tend to Rosalie.
The woman croons, and, even from here, I can feel the force of her voice.
“Jasper, let me go. You don’t want to kill me.”
Jasper hesitates, and I break out at a sprint towards him. Get away, get away, get away! Seeming frozen, Jasper falls to his knees, releasing the woman and allowing her to place her hands on either side of his head. She smiles serenely. “Good boy.”
“No!” I launch myself forward, tackling the woman. We collapse to the ground in a tangle of limbs and snarls. I feel the sharp pain as her teeth sink into my leg. With a growl, I focus on putting the pain behind the force of my ability. In the next second, she releases her hold on me, screaming in agony. Jasper appears then, thankfully having snapped out of the trance, and braces the woman’s back against his own with his hands on her head. He pulls forcefully, and the screams cease. Using a lighter of his own, he lets the flames consume the body.
“Three.” Jasper’s voice is tight, and his eyes don’t leave mine. “Are you okay?”
Swallowing my fear and horror, I nod. Those feelings can be dealt with once we’re out of danger. Jasper nods once, then darts to our right to aid Carlisle and Edward in the killing of another  vampire. He’s distracted though. He keeps throwing glances back at me and turning so I’m in his line of sight. The captured vampire senses Jasper’s lack of focus and takes the opportunity to sink his teeth into Jasper’s wrist. I run to him, hating how his face contorts in pain. Despite being held firmly by Edward and Carlisle, the man surges forward, snapping in my direction. His efforts stop the second Jasper tears his head from his neck. Edward sets the body ablaze, calling out a “two.”
As I gasp out his name, Jasper grips my waist, twisting us to the side. We narrowly avoid the vampire soaring through the air attempting to tackle us. He is trailed by Esme and Emmett, who quickly have the aid of Carlisle and Edward. With another sickening screech, we hear Esme’s voice ringing clear: “one”.
Now, it’s easy.
Only the other female remains, and my family quickly surrounds her.
She begins to beg for her life. “Please, let me go. I didn’t want to fight, I had no choice. Cora, our leader, forced us to. You’ve heard her voice, you know how convincing she is!” Her words increase in pitch and volume the closer Jasper and Emmett get to her. She dissolves into hysterics.
“Stop.” Esme’s command is quiet, but desperate. “Perhaps we can negotiate and come to an understanding.”
As we turn to glance at Esme, the woman has her opportunity. She launches herself at Jasper, gripping him around the neck and twisting. I scream, certain I’m about to see Jasper’s head fall to the ground.
But miraculously, he falls into the twist, rolling with the woman until he has her in an unbreakable lock. I vaguely recognize the hold as one he’s put me in before.
But this woman and I had vastly different outcomes.
Sharply, Jasper pushes the woman towards Emmett, who beheads her in one quick motion.
We’re silent as he throws the body into the fire.
Carlisle is the one who breaks the silence, sighing sadly and rubbing his forehead.
I exhale in relief, running to Jasper at the same time that he reaches for me. He kisses me like he did in the woods, and I pull him impossibly closer. When we separate, I exhale again and bury my head in his chest, thankful for the strong arms wrapping around me in a hug. Then I sigh, remembering the bite on his wrist.
“Let me see your arm.”
He shakes his head, kneeling on the ground and taking my leg gently in his hands. “You first.” I grit my teeth when he makes contact with the broken skin, though I do enjoy the feeling of his lips on my thigh. Perhaps we’ll have to revisit that later. Then, I have an idea, and rest my hand lightly on his shoulder, intending to pull the pain out of his arm that way. By his soft smile, it’s doing the trick. Still, once he rises, I take his wrist gingerly in my hands and suck out the venom. That’ll help it heal faster, anyway.
“You wouldn’t have gotten hurt if you didn’t try to be everywhere at once,” I chide.
But he just shrugs easily, pressing a light kiss on the side of my head. “It’s my job, darlin’.”
The new pet name helps ease my annoyance somewhat.
Once Jasper and I are satisfied the other is not harmed further, we turn our attention back to our family.
Thankfully, we sustained only minor injuries. Rosalie nurses her bite, and thankfully accepts my help in dealing with the pain. Emmett lost a finger, which Carlisle found and promptly reattached. It’s a miracle it hadn’t been thrown into the fires. Other than that and mine and Jasper’s bites, we’re all good. I marvel at our success, endlessly grateful that everyone is okay.
Carlisle, however, looks grim. “We’ll need to put out these fires soon to avoid suspicion. Alice, Edward, do you know of any others that might come to challenge us?”
They both concentrate but, thankfully, report in the negative. We can’t know for sure, of course, but for now, we’re as satisfied as is possible.
“I did notice something concerning in Cora’s thoughts,” Edward shares, almost hesitantly. We all fix him a look, anxious for him to continue. “They had hoped we would attack first so they could claim innocence to the Volturi. If that didn’t happen, they were obviously prepared to start the fight themselves. But,” he hesitates, and then seems to force himself to continue. “They were careful to leave Alice and I untouched. It seems they share the Volturi’s concerns with destroying our gifts.”
Carlisle’s expression darkens. “You think Aro had something to do with this?”
My eyebrows shoot up.
Edward grimaces. “She didn’t think of it long, but I glimpsed a conversation between Cora and Aro. From what I could gather, Aro was willing to overlook the attack on our family if it led to me and Alice joining him.”
Arthur growls, and Jasper’s arm tightens around my waist.
Carlisle looks dejected. “It seems Aro and I have much to discuss. I will plan a trip.”
“No,” Esme and Alice protest at the same time.
“Carlisle you can’t,” Alice continues, reaching forward to grab one of his hands in both of hers. “He obviously doesn’t care about your life. What if he uses the opportunity to destroy you?”
Carlisle sighs, shaking his head. “I will have to trust that he would refrain out of respect for our friendship. Regardless of the risk, I have to take care of my family. I won’t allow Aro to continue supporting threats against us like this. At the very least, I can get him to publicly condemn the attack. That will tie his hands going forward.”
Looking absolutely heartbroken, Esme rests her head on Carlisle’s shoulder. But we all know he’s right. Unless we can confront Aro in a manner that also does not directly implicate him, attacks like these are likely to continue.
Jasper brings my hands to his mouth and presses a light kiss on each set of knuckles. Then, looking determined, he turns towards Carlisle. “I would like to go with you.”
If I had a beating heart, it would have stopped. “What? Jasper no, you-”
But he shakes his head, his thumb smoothing over my hip. “He’ll need me to monitor Aro’s intentions, and I’ll be good in a fight, if it comes to that.”
Carlisle nods, though a look of regret is on his face. “It’s true. Jasper’s help will be invaluable, and I can’t take Edward or Alice. It will be too tempting for Aro. It’s risky enough bring Jasper.”
“Well then he shouldn’t go,” I protest, angry now. Why does Jasper always have to be the one risking himself? He’s thrown himself into my path more than once, watched everyone’s back during the fight, and now he’s going to one of the most dangerous places for our kind? For that matter, send me, I-
“That’s a terrible idea.” Edward’s harsh tone interrupts my thoughts.
“It is not,” I counter. “You said Jane was part of the Volturi? Well maybe you need someone to even her out.”
Jasper pulls me closer against him, and my suspicious calm causes me to give him the side-eye.
Carlisle smiles softly. “While I appreciate your willingness to help, Y/n, we really can’t take you with us. We’ll be taking a plane to Volterra, and the area itself is heavily populated. Perhaps a future trip.”
I sigh, knowing he’s right. But still, not Jasper…
“I’m going, too.” Esme’s soft but firm voice interrupts my thoughts. Carlisle immediately begins to protest, but she holds a hand up to his mouth. “I will not be separated from you, understand?”
With a defeated look, Carlisle nods.
Emmett raises a hand, a grin on his face. “I’m in, too.”
Edward shakes his head. “Knowing Aro, he’ll interpret more than three of us as a threat, especially if we send you, big as you are.” Good-naturedly, Edward softly punches Emmett’s shoulder then pretends to grip his hand in pain. That lightens the tension a little bit.
“Well, it’s settled, then.” Carlisle straightens his scarf and takes Esme’s hand in his. “I’ll book our flights for tomorrow morning.”
So soon…
Feeling my growing sense of dread, Jasper tugs on my hand. “Come with me for a bit?” I sigh, nod, and allow him to pull me further into the woods.
A/n Ahh, that was a long one! What did you think? Let me know if you would like to be added to the tag list!

Category: Fluff, Vanilla, One Shot
Warning: Reader nearly dying/falling from a cliff
Summary: You’re a rogue newborn vampire trying to run from the authorities. When you enter the territory of the Olympic coven, Carlisle is the one to take you under his wing.
Author’s Note: This was super fun to write! Thank you for the request <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Branches snapped under your feet, leaves rustled as you moved through the forest foliage. Tree logs formed nothing but a simple blockade in your path as you swiftly jumped over them. Every now and again you turned a sharp corner and changed your direction. You were running. You had been running for quite some time, maybe a month or three. Ever since someone turned you into a vampire you had deserted your hometown, now all you have ever known was the wind in your hair and the road you walked. It was a lonesome way of living you figured, but it was necessary to keep the people save from you. Or rather not you, but what you had become.
The chilled wind cut your cheeks, making you clench your jaw. You tried to ignore it, you were used to it you told yourself. As you entered the edge of the forest you contemplated. Continue along the edge or jump over the raging river and pursue your path there. You were fast, and so was your mind in reaching a decision.
With squinted eyes, you focused on the other edge across the river, you leaped, and then jumped. You flew across the river and landed on the other riverbank side in a perfected crouching position. You looked back to check if no one was following you, and smiled when you saw no one. You didn’t know where you were going yet, all you knew at this moment was to create as much distance between your last stop and the next to avoid suspicion from the authorities. With your hair bouncing on your back you continued your sprint through the woods.
Suddenly you saw a figure appear briefly next to you, on your left. It was equally as fast as you, even a little faster. You frowned, could it be another vampire? You had to get out of here, better be safe and alive than sorry and dead. You fastened your pace, surely you could shake this vampire. You weren’t even sure if it was a vampire, for all you know it’s some animal.
But animals don’t walk on their hind legs, nor do they have shiny blond hair. Another quick snap flashed before your eyes of the vampire clearly chasing you.  You inched your speed up another notch, but you could not go any faster than this.  You kept running even when you felt the vampire tailing you from behind. Why were they chasing you?
That question would soon be answered as you took one too many wrong turns and ended up at a clearing on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the sea and the beach. You were screwed. You sighed out sharply and bat down onto your teeth.
‘’Fuck me..’’
You said to yourself in a hushed voice. You turned around, ready to face whomever was hunting you.
It was a man, you guessed of middle age. He had shiny blond hair as you saw earlier, with lightly pale skin and beautiful amber golden eyes. He was dressed a little professional, a blazer worn over a blouse paired with neat pants and classy shoes. He stared at you, a mixture of curiosity and concern written over his face. You nodded towards him.
‘’Who are you, what do you want from me?’’
The man took a step forward to which you took a step backwards. You were careful, crouched down a little, ready to sprint away when the opportunity would arise.
‘’My name is Carlisle Cullen, you may have heard of me but-.. I’m the leader of the Olympic coven.’’
You mentally damned yourself to hell and back. Covens usually were dangerous, crossing their paths or entering their territory without permission would lead to well.. death. And you just entered their land. You heard the stories of unmannered vampires running around in the territory of well known, respectable vampire covens. Usually they were killed and burned so fast they couldn’t even think about apologizing. The man, however, made no such moves just yet. So you took a chance.
‘’Listen, I really didn't know you guys were here, I’m only passing by on my way to another town and I'm not looking for-’’
Carlisle had cut you off by shaking his head, waving off the apology with his hands. He took another step closer, and you again, took another step backwards. Just because he wasn’t gonna kill you now doesn’t mean he will try it later.
‘’I’m not here to kill you. I’m here to help you.’’
You frowned, help you how? Most covens don’t accept outside members. You’d either have to be formally invited or undergo some sort of test. Carlisle looked at you, no sign of anger or rage or even aggression. He was calm, collected. You were slightly intrigued. You have never heard of a coven just taking in any stray vampire they come across. Most of them are very selective on who they invite. You’d either have to be a really old, skilled vampire or possess some sort of supernatural ability. You had once heard of a vampire who could electrocute people by touching them.
‘’I don’t have any powers I’m afraid, and I’m quite young.’’
‘’I think you do. That sprint back there? I’ve never seen anyone maneuver through the woods the way you did. You know how to move, which road is the best to take.’’
You felt a mild blush appear on your cheeks but you screamed at yourself not to loose focus. This could all be a trap. Carlisle carefully took another step closer to you. You took one more step, if you took another you would fall off the cliff to your probable death. You swallowed hard. Carlisle raised his arms, trying to come across as peaceful.
‘’How do I know I can trust you?’’
‘’I am here to help you, I promise.’’
‘’This could all be a trick that you set up to capture and ki-’’
You didn’t finish the word kill or the ground beneath your feet crumbled away. You felt yourself fall with nothing to hold onto you. You squeezed your eyes shut. Any moment now you expected to hit the rocks, or the ground, or the sea. But instead you felt yourself linger in the air. A frown appeared on your face as you opened your eyes. Beneath you you saw the roaring sea clashing against a group of sharp rocks. You looked up and saw Carlisle hunched over the edge, holding onto your arm, a worried look on his face.
‘’Trust me now?’’
You quickly nodded due to the fear and relief, immediately feeling very sorry for not trusting him sooner. Carlisle pulled you over the edge, and checked if you didn’t have any wounds. You thanked him for saving you, and he replied that it was okay. You helped each other up on your feet and he took you to his house where his family would greet you. With an arm over your shoulder he guided you into his home, up a pair of stairs and into the living room.
‘’Attention everyone, we have a new member joining us.’’
Everyone’s heads turned to yours. The first person you noticed in the room was a kind looking woman with beautiful brown hair and soft eyes. She introduced herself as Esme, Carlisle’s wife. Then came their adopted sons; the blond haired Jasper, the tall and buff Emmett and the handsome but mysterious Edward. Each of them shook your hand as you told them your name. You wondered if this was all to the olympic coven and at that moment, two girls appeared in the living room.
‘’Y/N this is-’’
‘’Yes, Carlisle, we can introduce ourselves, we’re not idiots.’’
The blonde girl said. You chuckled, you liked her spunk. She introduced herself as Rosalie, and the other girl was named Alice. Everyone had given you a warm welcome to the coven and you were amazed with how close everyone seemed to be with one another.
‘’Carlisle..’’
At the sound of his name coming from you, he quickly turned around.
‘’Is it alright if I, ehm-.. call you ‘Dad’ instead of ‘Carlisle’?’’
You asked carefully. You didn’t want to make things awkward or offend him or anything, but you felt more comfortable calling him this. He smiled and gave you a sideways hug, placing a soft kiss on your temple.
‘’Of course that’s alright, Y/N.’’

Fire in my Blood ~ Jasper Hale X OC ~ Book Two - Chapter One
Book One
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
One of the biggest up sides to her new existence meant Alessia didn’t have to wake up early for school anymore. The fact that she didn’t need sleep anymore never stopped her from ‘napping’ because lying down with her eyes closed helped her ground herself and escape the constant feedback her enhanced senses were still receiving. It was getting easier but she still wasn’t totally used to being a newborn. Her life was never boring living with the Cullens, when she wasn’t spending time with Jasper she was with the girls or with Emmet, and when everyone was in school she was with Carlisle studying under his guidance to be a human doctor. And even still when she found no one was in the house she managed to entertain herself by dancing. Her life was good and today was Bella’s birthday. “Tell Bella I said happy birthday and that I’ll see her tonight”, the brunette ordered following her sisters down the stairs. Alice promised to relay the information and left the room with Rosalie as soon as she saw Jasper walking towards the trio, everyone learned the hard way that the newest couple were sickeningly sweet and it was too early for anyone to want to deal with that.
A squeal followed by laughter was ripped from the youngest girl when Jasper swung her around in his arms and eventually set her down capturing her lips in a kiss that Alessia had memorized perfectly at this point. It took way too much self control for her to push her mate away laughing at the pout he wore as she sent him out the door, “You can’t miss any more days or someone is going to kill me,” she fired in retaliation to the wounded puppy act she was getting while looking pointedly at Esme who was in the kitchen, giving Jasper one last kiss goodbye she stood at the door watching the rest of her new siblings and her love drive off into the trees. Walking back up the stairs into the kitchen she spotted Esme watering some flowers on the balcony, today was one of the days that Carlisle had a work day that began before everyone else left for school so Alessia had some time to kill before school got out and Alice managed to rope her into decorating for the party later that night. Her slow ascent through her home had her honey eyes (now the regular Cullen gold) roaming the artwork along the walls. Her morning was spent cleaning up the books that littered the floor in her and Jasper's bedroom (she spent a lot of time reading now that she couldn't leave the house, having to pretend to be dead and all) and tidying up the rest of the house while Esme painted in the attic, Alessia still felt extremely grateful that Carlisle and Esme had opened their home to her after the accident, she wanted to be a gracious houseguest and in her mind it was the least she could do.
Light shone through the trees into the study that she now began to share with Carlisle as he mentored her through her medical studies. Alessia walked to the glass desk that sat against the window and opened the medical notebook sitting on top of the pile of books stacked on the corner. The well-loved leather cover opened to show yellowed pages with lines of perfect medical notes with accurate diagrams. Carlisle spent centuries putting them together and Alessia was now learning from the man and she couldn't be more grateful for it, she would attend medical school once she could get to grips with a new identity. Hours of study were interrupted by the sound of Alice bounding up the stairs ripping Alessia out of her thoughts of medical sciences. "Come on Alessia we have a party to organise!" The pixie girl sang out pulling the brunette behind he down to the living room to put up the decorations that had been sitting in boxes in the corner all week. The room only took about 45 minutes to finish when Emmet joined them (the sight of tiny Alice sitting on top of the shoulders of Emmet 'the giant' yelling at him to hand her decorations to hang from the ceiling had everyone in stitches laughing).
As night fell the music started and Alessia felt her excitement grow when she could hear a car pull into the driveway, standing with Jasper at her side she was bouncing on the balls of her feet waiting for her baby sister to come into view, it had been a while since she had seen her. Alessia smiled at Bella being dragged into view by a very excited Alice and by the look on her face her sister may just forgive her for telling the family when her birthday was in the first place. Waiting wasn't Alessia's strong point so as soon as Carlisle and Esme had greeted the birthday girl Alessia scooped her sister into a hug that neither really wanted to escape from, it wasn't until she heard a certain sly comment about "dating an older woman" coming from Emmet's mouth, who was speaking to Edward on the stairs that Alessia pulled away from the hold to smack him on the head, "That's my baby you are talking about". Anymore conversation was interrupted by Alice calling for presents to be handed out. The brunette took this time to return to Bella's side wanting to experience her sisters awkward torture up close. She gave Rosalie a kind smile for the necklace, she was trying at least. And Emmet got in trouble again for dissing the truck.
Alessia could hear the slice of the paper working into the skin of Bella's finger, she felt every layer being slit open and the blood that erupted from the wound smelled like an iron factory. The room took all of 3 seconds to errupt into chaos. After Edward launched Bella into a goddamn table Alessia didn't think of anything other than keeping Bella safe, reaching out to guide her away from the situation she was met with resistance and a warning snarl from Edward while the rest of the family members worked to get Jasper out of the room and away from Bella. Pure rage ran through Alessia and she had no understanding of the pure authority that came through the hiss that she let out, causing everyone, Edward and Jasper included to stop and take a step away from her. Carlisle managed to get the situation under control which was good because Alessia still kept a deadly stare locked on Edward and as far as she was concerned if he tried to pull another stunt like that the only person dying tonight would be him. Carlisle forced Edward out to calm down Jasper and while Alessia's whole body was screaming at her to find and comfort her mate, her sister was the priority right now.
Carlisle snapped her out of her rage and Alessia realised that this was the first time she was around human blood, sniffing the air and looking at the red liquid she didn't feel anything other than the need to get the glass shards out of Bella's arms. "I'm fine Carlisle, I promise," left her lips as she slowly helped Bella up the stairs to the study.
As weird and morbid as it sounded Alessia loved giving stitches. It was rhythmic and mindless and she was really good at it. Sue Clearwater had taught her how to sew and embroider when she was a kid during the summers after she stopped going to Phoenix, and that knowledge came in handy now as she and Carlisle worked in tandem, the older man picking the glass out and cleaning the slashes in her arms while Alessia took the black thread and slowly stitched perfect rows to keep them closed so they could heal. She was deaf to the conversation currently going on between Bella and Carlisle but the few words that did reach her meant that Carlisle was telling Bella about his work around human blood. Alessia finished up her final stitches and smiled down at Bella like she remembered Renée doing whenever she scraped her knees as a kid. Laying a kiss on her little sisters forehead she whispered to her. "I'm sorry about Jasper, he didn't mean to scare you I promise, it's just difficult for him sometimes." With the apology hanging in the air she slid off the metal bench she was sharing with Bella and walked out the door to find Edward leaning against the wall. His attempt to enter the room was stopped by Alessia's hand holding him to the wall. Her anger had flared back up and her voice was icy, her message was very clear. "Whatever claim you think you have on Bella you had better quit it right now, you are only with her because she lets you, because she likes you, whatever idiotic thought you have running through your mind telling you that you could ever stop me from protecting her is wrong and you had better get rid of it fast. Let's get one thing clear, that is my baby sister in there. In the people that are important in her life you and I don't even sit on the same list. I am her fucking sister. You ever try that stunt and insinuate that I would ever hurt a hair on her head again and I will rip you to pieces." Her threat was followed by yet another growl that had the boy in front of her looking away from her eyes. Her arm pushed her away from the Cullen boy and down the hall without a second glance.
The air was nice out and the stars weren't blocked by any clouds tonight. Alessia took her time walking out into the trees surrounding the house until she came to the trunk that her mate was sitting on. "You had better stop moping around now, Bella is fine." Her sweet tone snapped Jasper's attention to the beautiful girl walking towards him, smiling despite the absolute fiasco that went down not 30 minutes ago. She didn't have to have have her boyfriend's empathic powers to feel the guilt radiating off his frame. "I could have killed her," was all he mumbled looking at the sky, not meeting the golden eyes staring back at him. Alessia let out a sigh that was dramatic enough to pull a laugh from both of them before she sat at Jasper's side, pulling his hands into her own and playing with his fingers. "Honest question, when you look at Bella is your first thought 'I want to murder this chick in cold blood and feast on her organs'?" She burst out laughing at the complete horror and disgust on his face and took that as a no. "I am fully aware that you would never hurt Bella. You cannot blame yourself for what happened. You are so good around blood and I honestly am so proud of you, but accidents happen Jas. You didn't hurt anyone tonight and that's what matters." Alessia switched her fingers out for her lips and laid a soft kiss on his wrist where his pulse should be. It was an ironic little display of affection the two shared in times where the other was deeply distressed, Jasper had done it more than enough times when Alessia was still getting used to her new body and got upset by the overstimulation her brain was receiving from her enhanced senses, and since then it was a way for the two to let the other know that they were always gonna be there.
Their silent adoration of each other was broken up by Alessia suddenly jumping to her feet and pulling her man up with her "come on, were going away for a while." She was spontaneous and was always the first person to suggest that a problem should be solved with an adventure. She had dragged everyone she knew into her endeavours at least once. Jasper learned very early into their relationship that he couldn't say no to Alessia, that and when she did something to help someone or cheer someone up, she was usually right. Following the small trail back to the house she saw that Edwards car was already gone meaning Bella was back at home. The doors opened to Alice smiling at her best friend and her brother, an idea sparked in her mind, "Alice, pack your bags were going on a road trip."
Jasper found it hard to keep his eyes on the road and not let them drift over to the brunette in the passenger seat talking animatedly with Alice who was in the back about anything and everything that came to their minds. He truly had lucked out with the woman he loved. Everything about Alessia amazed him and he knew that their attraction to each other wasn't just because their vampiric bodies had chosen the other as a mate, part of the reason Jasper had avoided her for so long was that he couldn't really control himself around the pretty girl from his history class and didn't want to risk outing himself as a blood sucking vampire to her on day three of knowing her, that and she was so insanely smart that she matched him in most topics pertaining to the American civil war onwards (and he lived through the damn thing). Alessia was beautiful, intelligent, kind and level-headed while also being goofy, clumsy and a little bit inappropriate and hilarious, she was protective of people she cared about and trusting of people until she was given a reason not to be. She had faults like her quick temper and occasional naiveté but she didn't try to bury them or justify them, she wore them proud. She was confident enough to command the respect of the people who knew her but kind and gracious enough to have earned every ounce of respect she received. He thought she was perfect and he wouldn't hesitate to tell anyone that he really was in love.
Alessia could list the things she thought about Jasper Hale on both hands and not even scratch the surface. Spending almost every hour of her new existance next to him may seem suffocating to most people but it just let the two learn everything they could about each other, late nights were spent with Alessia learning everything she could about the world she had now been reborn into and Jasper in particular wanted her to be educated on and wary of The Volturi. But it wasn't until one rainy day about 4 months into her new life that Jasper told her about his own past. He told her about his life as a human, how he loved his mother Catherine and that he had two younger siblings of his own, Alexander and Daisy. She told him of his days as a soldier and that he fought for the south, if not purely for the fact of that's where he was born and his father was fighting for them too. And he told her about Maria. Alessia found herself falling in love with the man who told her stories every day about his life and the people in it. She admired his gift and made sure to tell him every chance she got how she was proud that he could push past the memory of all the newborn army emotions, all the pain he felt come from those kids, and use the one thing he thought of as a curse to do some good wherever he could (even if it was just to stop Alessia from ripping Edward's head off when he got a bit too melodramatic). When she first met him Alessia had to do a double take because holy shit the new guy was hot and he had an accent, but she was content to go about her life not speaking to him if that's what he wanted, she couldn't force friendship. Alessia just felt relief that Jasper had spoken to her a few months ago, because if he hadn't she might still be blissfully unaware of what her world was actually full of. And she definitely wouldn't be sitting in a car on the way to nowhere in particular with the man she loved and her best friend in the world.
Their drive lasted into the early hours of the morning and at around 5am they reached Portland and pulled into a hotel along the highway. While their rooms were checked into the trio started walking around the undisturbed suburbs talking and laughing. Alice pulled a camera out of nowhere and the night got more fun with Alice and Alessia posing for silly pictures around the streets they walked, it took a few minutes but the girls managed to convince jasper to take one of the two of them lying in the road just before the sun started to come up on the horizon, before long the incident that had caused Jasper so much internal conflict had been forgotten. With the city starting to wake up the gang made their way back to their hotel rooms to hide out from the sunny day that was scheduled. Not that it bothered Alessia at all, she had Jasper to keep her company (Alice was extremely thankful for her own hotel room).
It was later that afternoon when Alessia got a call from Carlisle. It was urgent so the managed to pull herself out of the hotel bed and slide on the t-shirt Jasper was wearing earlier before calling Carlisle back to listen to the situation. To say that she was pissed was an understatement. Jasper barely had time to dress himself before he was dragged back to the car along with his sister by his mate who was for lack of a better term seeing red. The whole drive home was silent and both siblings knew better than to ask Alessia what had happened (Alice already knew). They pulled up at the house by dinner time and Alessia slammed the door of the car, pacing up the front steps past Rosalie who was carrying a box towards a movers van, "Where the hell is he?!"
The rest of the Cullens stood in the living room packing and no one moved to stop her when she basically jumped Edward sending his ass skidding along the floor. "You have about 5 seconds to explain to me what the hell you have just done or I swear to god I will destroy you."
"I told her we were leaving," Edward mumbled electing not to move from his new home on the floor for his own safety. "SO YOU ARE TELLING ME THAT JUST BECAUSE ONE THING DIDN'T GO YOUR WAY LAST NIGHT YOU HAVE DECIDED TO PACK EVERYTHING UP AND THROW A TODDLER TANTRUM ABANDONING THE ONE PERSON YOU CLAIM TO LOVE MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD?!" Alessia screamed causing everyone in the room to flinch slightly. Edwards excuse died on his tongue with one look at the furious girl who stood over him. "Do you have any idea what this could do to her?, You claim to care about her soul when all you care about is getting to live out your little fantasy of having a human girlfriend for a few decades until she grows old and dies is that it? Are you gonna look at me and tell me that I'm wrong?" She yelled her anger flaring up once again. She was gonna break something and she really hoped it got to be Edwards head right now. "How about this then Edward, she is not your property, she is her own person with her own choices. She is doing you a favour by waiting until you feel comfortable enough to change her. I didn't get a say in my transformation but all Bella wants is to be with you, I can't for the life of me figure out why but she is in love with you. You gaslighting her and telling her you are protecting her soul as an excuse to leave whenever you don't get your own way is sickening and I swear that you would already be ash if I didn't think that it would kill her." No one around the room dared to try and step in her way when she was like this (Emmet thought the whole situation was hilarious) and with a final look at the boy sitting in front of her Alessia snarled at him "If you want to leave that's fine, but you stay the hell away from me, and don't think that for one second Bella isn't strong enough to move on, and when she does you will never be allowed to take that away from her."
Her brown hair flicked with her sharp body movement and she stomped up the stairs to begin packing her own belongings into boxes. The footsteps that Alessia heard follow her were softer than the familiar thump of Jasper's shoes and she wasn't expecting Esme to peek her head in the door and find her on the floor surrounded by books. "Was I wrong in what I said?" The young girl sighed looking up at the motherly gaze that was trailed on her, the anger in her voice traded out for dejection and worry. She had never exploded like that, even with her short fuse. That and she had no way to contact Bella so she couldn't say goodbye to her sister. Esme sat down on the bed before letting herself chuckle under her breath, "I think you were absolutely right actually, I just don't appreciate fighting between my children."
Alessia wanted to smile at Esme referring to her as one of her own but her mind felt guilty for causing chaos when Carlisle and Esme must have already been extremely stressed with the move. She crawled into the bed sitting next to the woman she had always admired and mumbled a small apology for her actions. Esme simply smiled fondly and squeezed her shoulder, "There is nothing to apologize for Alessia", before beginning to help her pack everything away. She understood why they had to leave, but she didn't have to like it.
The forest was quiet that night and while the last of the boxes were being packed by the boys Alessia took the time to go and get some of her own things from her house. Walking through the woods she stumbled upon a familiar track that flowed through the trees and eventually opened onto her yard. She had walked this path hundreds of times but never once had she encountered Bella lying on the forest ground shivering from the cold. Every inch of Alessia's body filled with a dread that weighed her body like concrete as she sprinted to her sister, "Bella, BELLA!" She cried shaking the limp girl lying on the ground. Panic began to set in because she knew she couldn't do anything to help, Alessia showing up at her home from the dead would probably cause Charlie to have a stroke but Bella wasn't waking up and she was freezing cold. Rustling in the trees made her snap her head up to see the one person she absolutely did not want to see staring back at her. Sam Uley stood at the treeline two feet away from the girls wearing a look of disgust at the sight of the older girl, and as much as Alessia wanted to rip his face off (the feeling was mutual) there was no time and Bella was more important than whatever beef Alessia had with the dog. "Help her" she muttered before laying a kiss on Bella's temple and stepping back to let Sam pick her up and carry her back down the trail. Alessia followed at a distance getting to the end of the trees seeing the flashing red and blue lights, thank god Charlie was looking for her. It took all of 15 minutes before an ambulance had whisked Bella off to the hospital and the lot emptied, only silence was left. With everyone gone Alessia let herself in to her bedroom. Bella had told her about a month ago that Charlie kept her room locked up and didn't go in there, the memory of his oldest being too painful to keep reliving, so Alessia was sure that he wouldn't notice some of her stuff missing. The window slid shut behind her and looking around the room she had seen that it was tidied, probably Bella again. Cardboard boxes and a few suitcases were pulled out of the closet and Alessia began to pack clothes, books, photographs and other things she couldn't bare to leave behind, her awards for dance and school stayed up on her walls but she took photographs of them all. By the time she had finished she had three large boxes sitting at the end of her bed and her room looked only slightly emptier than when she had walked in, she didn't want to leave her whole world behind but she didn't really have another option. Hearing her window slide open again she was met with Emmet standing in her room. The two of them were close no doubt and out of all the Cullens they were the ones that most resembled siblings with how they treated each other, Emmet could tell she was hurting. His strong hand on her shoulder let her steel her nerves again and while he and Jasper (who had joined them from the car out front) began to bring the boxes back out through the window Alessia stood at her desk to write a note.
Bella,
I honestly don't know if we will ever come back. It's imperative that we leave for everyone's safety, because if the Volturi think that we have become suspicious to the humans they won't hesitate to destroy us. Take care of Charlie, he worries a lot but it's because he loves you. Make sure he knows that my 'accident' wasn't his fault and that I love him with everything I have. That goes for you too, you may be 18 now but you are still my baby star. I don't know if I will ever see you again, but I will be thinking about you for the rest of time. I love you.
Alessia.
Sliding her own window closed she made her way up to Bella's window and slid into the room. It was messy and the photo album was still on the bed from last night. Without thinking about her situation for too long she slid the envelope between Bella's laptop and the desk and made her exit again. Looking back at he front door she finally let it sink in that this would be the last time she would ever see her home or her family. Jasper stood at her side and he could feel the ocean of grief that covered his love in that moment, but he didn't try to manipulate what she was feeling, he knew she wouldn't want that. It was Alessia who turned first and slid into the back seat of the car with Jasper on her tail, Rosalie and Emmet sat up front and without a glance back at her old life the truck engine roared to life and Emmet pulled away and drove off into the night, passing a lone police cruiser pulling into the driveway.

Angel Baby-Part 1
Tumblr media
*slight Lucifer crossover*
Can I request Paul's imprint being another type of supernatural creature besides shapeshifters and vampires? -anonymous
Everything about you screamed angel. Your looks, your personality, your hobbies. Of course you're only half, your mother is completely human, but your father is the devil himself. Before your mother died she'd always say that you're exactly like him, the smart mouth, always rudely honest, nosy, and your beauty could capture anyone's attention. Of course your dad is very protective of you along with your uncle, but they both know you can protect yourself, being stronger than anyone you come in contact with. You share many qualities with your father; you're capable of making people tell you their desires, yet it doesn't work as well as your father's but you are capable of getting anything you need to know out of someone, you can literally get out of anything, and just like him you don't need a key to open or turn on something. A couple things you can do that he can't, and he claims it's just because you're part human and your angel side is protecting you, is that you can literally sniff out if someone is human or not, and you're able to heal a human, like if they broke some bones you can quickly heal them and painlessly.
When your birthday came around your father gave you a club. He decided to expand to Seattle and wanted you to manage it, since you do so well helping Maze with the accounting and everything else. So you agree, and set up to run a successful club.
You actually meet the Cullen's first, running into Rosalie on the floor of the club and instantly the both of you stiffen knowing the other isn't human. You're quick to pulling her into your office before looking at her as she looks at you. "What are you?" "I could ask you the same thing, you smell human." You notice her rubbing her arm from where you grabbed her. "Sorry about that." She looks at you before questioning, "If you're human how did you manage to hurt me."
The two of you explain what you are, slowly becoming best friends as the days go by, Rosalie constantly visiting you at work to learn more and feed back to her family. You don't officially meet anyone until summertime comes around and Rosalie asks you for a favor. "Just so you know you owe me your soul now." "What? I thought you coul-" "Relax I'm fucking with you. Only my dad can do that. So what am I here for?"
The Cullen's quickly introduce themselves and go through what they need help with. Emmet quickly grows to like you, with every smart comment you make. Jasper finds himself protectively drawn to you when you explain what you are to them, Rosalie not giving them all the information she learned about angels from you.
"So these newborns are supposed to be how strong again?" "One can take out an entire human army with little effort." "So? I can do that with no effort, just a flap of my wings." "You have wings too?!"
When you yawn Esme goes into mother mode, "Oh you should get some sleep before we meet with the pack tomorrow morning. You're free to use any of the rooms we have." "What pack?"
You finally notice the man who's entered the house, smelling him first. "My pack. Shape shifters." "Do you shift into dogs or? You really smell like a freshly washed dog." Everyone watches to see if Sam gets mad but he just shakes his head and offers his hand which you gladly shake. You quickly go through with Sam about what you are before making your way to Rosalie's room to crash before the meeting.
As you walk through the forest alongside Emmett and Rosalie, you let Rosalie explain the relationship between Edward and Bella. "So your brother likes her blood basically, like heroin." "You know what, seems like you get the vampire mating process. Why don't you tell us about the angel mating process?" "I would, if I knew it myself."
When you enter the field Jasper and Emmet start wrestling with each other as you wait for the pack. You and Rosalie play tic-tac-toe in the dirt with a stick.
You stand straight when the wolves enter the field, staring at how big they are. Something feels off but you just brush off the feeling thinking it has to do with multiple supernatural creatures in one place.
You hear someone ask, "Who's that?" And you absentmindedly answer, "Y/N" the same time Edward does making everyone look at you. "What?" "Did you just answer the pack?" "I guess so? Why?" "Only Edward can hear their thoughts when they're in their wolf form."
You stare at the ground thinking and listening to the pack talk to each other not bothering on paying attention to the vampires fighting with each other. How is it possible, if no one can hear them talking to each other, that you can hear the pack? You feel something coming your way, so you look up and side step, just as a giant branch comes soaring your way along with a growl from one of the wolves. "Did you really just throw a mini tree at me?" "Are you going to stand there staring at the ground, or are you going to fight?" "You realize I could kick your ass in my sleep right?" "Please."
After fighting Emmett, and winning, you walk past a fallen branch. The branch manages to cut your leg making you hiss and pull at your pant leg, inwardly groaning when you see the small cut.
Realizing that you're bleeding you stand up straight, Edward hearing your thoughts looks at you confused, "What's wrong?" You can't help but take a step back, not knowing what to think, "Uh nothing. It doesn't bother you?" Gesturing toward your leg, Edward shakes his head, "It doesn't even smell like blood, more like those candles they have inside churches."
Thinking about the cut on your leg you start walking backwards, "I gotta go, there's something I need to take care of." Carlisle is quick to stop you, "Wait! The wolves will need your scent, in case you don't come back until the battle."
Letting each wolf sniff you you feel yourself freeze when one gets near you, making it look at you and freeze itself, noticing that it's the last one you start walking backwards staring at Rosalie, "Is that all you needed me for?" Seeing the state you're in she nods before you start jogging across the field.
"Are you running?" You turn around and smirk, "Of course not. I have my own form of travel." You quickly turn and fasten your pace letting your wings out and start flying, all the way to LA.
You find yourself sitting across from your dad, asking him about what it's like for him to be around Chloe. "Why so many questions darling?" "I just- it's uh."
You finally manage to tell your dad about the cut and bleeding around other supernatural creatures. You groan when your dad sits with a smug look, ready to get revenge for all the times you made fun of him for being weak around Chloe.
Tumblr media
"Dad I'm serious, I need help here." He sighs standing up and going into dad mode grabbing your shoulders, "Darling, there's nothing you can do about it. Your grandpa is just showing you, in his own twisted way, that someone is made for you. Literally."
You take the next couple of days thinking about everything, you don't even know what this person looks like, and they already make you weak. Literally.
You fly back just in time, the fights already started. You're quick to land, pushing one of the newborns off of one of the wolves and using it as a landing mat. As the newborns head falls off you scrunch up your nose, "Gross."
Rosalie shouts from across the field, "Now you show up?!" You throw up your hands and punch a vampires head off before turning towards her, "Im here aren't I?"
Before you know it the fight is over and you're helping throw the bodies into the fire.
Before you realize what you're doing you throw yourself towards one of the wolves before it can attack a rogue vampire, alongside another wolf who gets itself in the vampires grasp. As you tumble towards the ground alongside the wolf you hear screams of agony.
You watch as the wolves head into the forest before coming back out in their human form surrounding the naked boy on the ground. You stand back as Carlisle looks over the boy, "The right side of his body is shattered." It takes you seconds to push through everyone and to fall on the ground next to the boy, "I can fix it."
Everyone turns to Alice, "There's no time! They're coming." You feel yourself look at Carlisle for an explanation, "The Volturi, they don't know about the wolves, or you for that matter." You nod before standing up, "Then what do we do?" Sam interferes, "The only thing we can do." You watch as the rest of the boys around you lift up the screaming boy and head off into the forest, leaving you behind.
Rosalie comes up behind you and gives you a slight push, "Go with them. Tell them Carlisle will be there to check on him after. Besides I think there's something you should know about one of the wolf boys." You stare at her before hearing Alice say, "Five minutes."
You're quick to run into the forest following the smell of the pack until you end up at a small house where everyone is standing around outside, surrounding a man in a wheelchair. You make your way towards the group, Sam stepping in front of everyone. “How can you help him?” The man in the wheelchair rolls forward, “What are you?”
You cross your arms staring at both men, turning towards the older one. “My names Y/N, I’m an angel. Well half angel. And as of helping him, I’m capable of healing human bones, painlessly. It takes a while, but he won’t be in any pain. It’s better than having to re-break all of his bones, I’m guessing you all heal fast since you turn into wolves.
The two men stare at you along with everyone else around you before the older man raises his hand to shake yours, “Billy.” You smile and shake his, “That’s one less name for me to try and guess.” He chuckles and turns leading you into the small house, everyone else following.
You enter the living room, seeing the same boy laying on the couch groaning in pain. One of the two human woman beside him look at Billy, “His bones have probably already set wrong. They’ll need to be re-broken and reset to stop the pain.” Billy grabs your arm, “Are you positive this will help my son?” You cant help but nod and give him a soft smile, “This wouldn’t be the first person, I’ve done this for.”
As you make your way to the couch you grab a chair setting it next to the boy. Taking your seat you set your hand on the boys abdomen and watch as his face relaxes and shows no sign of pain. It takes him a second to realize he can’t feel anything before he looks at you, “How are you doing that?” You can’t help but smirk, “Same way you turn into a giant dog.”
An hour later you're watching the boy moving around, making sure he's fully healed before you go to leave, Billy stopping you, "Y/N we need to talk about something. Stay for dinner and we'll explain, maybe you can explain more on what you are."
You quickly learn everyone's names along with their tribal legends. In turn you tell them about being a half angel, daughter to the devil.
"So is your dad actually red?" "No. He can make himself look like the pictures though." "Can you do that?" "No."
By the end of the night you've learned what an imprint is, how it works and who imprinted on you. You manage to swap numbers with the pack and the rest of the imprints but get rushed back to Seattle by an impatient uncle who appeared out of nowhere, just as you were about to finish your food.

02. DISTRACTIONS
i’ve decided to continue with the au of bella as a vampire & edward as a human inspired by a post from @bellasredchevy, so here’s another installment (you can read the first chapter here). if anyone has thoughts on if it’d be more preferable for me to post this fanfic on wattpad/fanfiction.net/another website rather than posting it on tumblr, let me know :-) if not, i’ll continue to post here & figure out some tag to make it easier to find!
The boys had left for a hunting trip, so I found myself falling victim to what Alice liked to call a “sleepover”. It was a ridiculous name for this kind of occasion. An unfortunate part of what we were consequently lost us the ability to sleep and thus, dream. I had found this to be something I considered an advantage when I was first changed. I had so much extra time I could devote to reading! Unfortunately, the excitement didn’t last very long. I still enjoyed the benefits of all the ample time, but I did miss the creativity of my subconscious that allowed me to live in other worlds unrestricted by the more sentient, aware parts of my mind. I missed escapism.
I even missed the nightmares at times. I had been such a vivid dreamer.
Additionally, it was even further ridiculous to refer to this as a sleepover when we spent every night together. Without the sleep and the ‘over’ aspect of spending the night away from home, this was definitely the worst sleepover I’d been to in the course of my existence.
Although, as a bonding time amongst the women of the Olympic Coven, with the exception of some of Alice’s ideas for activities, I enjoyed this kind of night very much. I’d have gone with the boys to hunt if I had any intention of returning to school tomorrow. I’d owe them an explanation when they returned as for the tension that filled the car as we drove home from school. I hated to be the center of attention, so I was appreciative when Alice and Rosalie agreed to keep the horrific encounter a secret for now. I didn’t want the scrutiny of their concern nor the dramatics of the situation.
I was lucky that they had plans with Carlisle. Rosalie was able to convince Emmett and Jasper to begin their night early by allowing us to drop them off at the hospital – much to the dismay of my bulkier brother who had spent his day eagerly anticipating our rematch. My other sister easily dismissed their suspicion of our motives. Nobody questioned Alice twice. I was glad to have more time to mull over what to say to Carlisle. As much as I wanted his guidance, if I could put off growing the audience to my moment of weakness for another couple of hours, I’d gladly take the distraction of Alice braiding my hair into a long plait down my back while she blasted music in the garage where Rosalie worked.
Typically when we had nights like these, we each selected an activity to do together. Alice made the choice  – unfortunately for me – to sort through all of our closets and rid them of items she no longer deemed wearable. With the exception of a few favorites, we rarely wore the same things twice, so it seemed like a waste of time. That is until I realized that this was all just a ruse to chastise me for the items of clothing she stocked in my closet that I didn’t wear. My small, voyeuristic sister was pleased with Rosalie and Esme, creating a nice, substantial pile of clothing to donate, whereas my closet ended up acquiring even more clothing than before. I was far too moody to care to protest.
Esme arranged for the four of us to paint together while some french movie played in the background. As an added challenge, she had Alice describe a vision to us, and we all attempted to capture the image on our canvases. Rosalie simply wanted our company as she continued her ongoing project of restoring yet another classic car that she’d eventually gift as an item for a charity auction. My activity of choice usually was the same: I’d select a book for us to read, and we’d have a book club to conclude the night once we’d all finished.
Tonight, however, I wasn’t feeling entirely up for it. Although I definitely wouldn’t mind the fictional escape away from Forks, I didn’t have it in me to sincerely participate in the conversation that would follow.
I wanted to move beyond the events of this afternoon already. As much as it disconcerted me, I didn’t want to be so severely consumed. I was growing irritated with the feelings of disappointment that preoccupied me. I had taken my ease in this life for granted.
Although I knew it wasn’t his fault, I found myself becoming frustrated with the Masen kid. When I began to see eyes materializing in the green brush strokes of the trees of my painting, I unintentionally destroyed my canvas. Something about the perplexity in his shockingly perceptive irises and the intelligence that marked his thick eyebrows when they pulled together was inexplicably haunting me. The irony of feeling haunted when I was the undead creature was not lost on me.
“I’ll grab you another one, dear,” Esme soothed, exchanging worried glances with Rosalie and Alice before disappearing to bring me another large square of coarse, woven white fabric to vandalize.
When the lyrics of the song Alice sang along to as Esme handed Rosalie the tools she needed began to creep into my head and develop new meanings I didn’t want to hear, I abruptly sprang from the driver's seat of Rose’s convertible and ran from the garage. I wanted to unravel in peace.
I stopped when I reached the large, grey stones of the riverbank.
The forest was peaceful. It was nearly dawn; a pale, purple-grey tinted light cloaked the scenery before me, the orange and pink hues of the morning sun that should fade into the navy-black of the night sky were hidden behind a thick layer of rain clouds. The water of the river flowed sinuously by as some birds sang far in the distance. The greenery was enveloped in the fallen rain of the night, droplets of water clinging stunningly to every blade of grass, every needle of pine of the lush vegetation like crystals and diamonds. A cold mist intimately caressed the river, enveloping the landscape in a fresh haze. I could now see the vision Alice described a few hours prior come to life. Here I stood now, quietly, amongst the skyline of trees in daybreak.
I closed my eyes to the muted beauty of this morning, indifferent to the ephemerality of the moment. How many mornings had I seen like this? They were all already cemented in my infallible mind. I breathed in, the cold air whistling deliciously down my throat. On my tongue I could taste the minty, rain-kissed evergreens, the warm streams of blood pumping the tiny, fluttering heartbeats of the smallest animals, the earthy, sweet brooks leading back to the river. The wind softly stroked the sparkling spring water, and as I focused on the faint whisper of an insect’s fluttering wings, I heard the lithe, recognizable stride of my adopted mother approaching. With her came new scents and sounds – white gardenia, freshly baked bread, honey, peach blossoms, a whisper of lush silk, a hiss of air, a gentle nuzzling of fast footsteps on glossy moss.
She arrived by my side but said nothing, joining me in my silent reverie.
“You have nothing to say?” I asked after we stood there for some time, Esme watching what I assumed was the faint hint of the sun rising beyond the clouds, lifting the overcast view into lighter shades of blue-grey. I could feel the slight difference in temperature against my skin.
“Is there something you wish for me to say, sweetheart?” Esme asked gently.
I finally opened my eyes, turning to meet her topaz eyes full of love and patience.
“Not really,” I half-smiled, feeling guilty.
Her beautiful mouth widened into a smile, lighting up her heart-shaped face. She seemed to find some humor in my honesty, letting out a peal of laughter that frightened some distant creatures into silence at the unexpected sound of bells. Her caramel-colored waves of hair shook lightly with the motion.
“Oh, my Bella.” Instantaneously, I was enveloped in her warm, velvet arms. “It is absolutely valid to feel such despondency, but we must celebrate that we are not mourning the loss of another life! For that, I am very proud of you. And I’ve been so relieved that in this life you’ve never had to grieve the mistakes that even I have made...but we would never feel differently towards you if you had. Nor do we feel differently that you’re experiencing a struggle much more strenuous than before.”
She paused before continuing more fervently, “it makes you no less strong, and you will have the strength to resist...I believe that with all my heart. Please don’t feel so disappointed with yourself. You must give yourself some credit and patience and forgiveness. It pains me to see you so cheerless!”
“I’m sorry I seem so...down,” I sighed, resting my head dejectedly on her shoulder. “I guess, to be frank, it just...sucks to feel like I don’t have the super sense of self control that I thought I did. I’m beginning to feel bad for Jasper now,” I snorted bitterly.
She laughed again at my colloquial choice of words.
“Perhaps you owe him an apology. You and your brother have given him an awful lot of trouble for how he struggles,” my mother accused me teasingly, stroking my hair just as my sisters had. The comfort was nice, but I also felt irrationally remorseful to have any need for it.
“Yeah, maybe I do,” I frowned, thinking of having to put aside my pride.
She pulled away to hold me at arm’s length, cautiously studying my face.
After a moment, she pulled me against her again in another embrace.
“I will leave you alone now. It seems you would benefit from some more time by yourself to think without your sisters’ futile attempts to distract you.”
I could tell she was smiling from the way the words left her mouth. “But I won’t allow you to wallow in pity forever.”
Esme released me from the hug and reappeared four yards away from me, the expression on her perfect face stern. “So take the time you need to process how you’re feeling. But only be alone if you need to be. Don’t let yourself be lonely. That’s very important...You know where we will be.”
With that, she was gone.
I couldn’t understand why I was so inconsolable. Of course, I valued her words and the sentiment. My family’s understanding and support were wonderful to have, but I couldn’t shake the upheaval the boy’s blood had wreaked on my thoughts. It seemed to me a cruel joke, that after all these years of so naturally adjusting to this life, I now experienced the true, macabre consequences of this form. Would I have traded the ease that had accompanied me until now if it meant I’d never have experienced a magnetism as strong as the sweet scent that lingered just beneath the Masen boy’s frail skin? Would I have chosen to struggle more the entirety of my existence if it meant I’d have avoided the ferocity of that moment in my suddenly not so banal biology class? Maybe I would have.
This must be some kind of punishment from some god somewhere. Why else would I experience such effortlessness only to be met with an unendurable, unassailable call to reject everything good about my existence? I never gave much thought to religion in either of my lives. I suppose that after I’d been changed, it’d seem like a far more interesting subject because what could be the implications of an existence such as mine? Did my being a monster provide more validity to the existence of a god? If mythological evil creatures plagued the earth, then couldn’t a supernatural deity who created the universe exist as well? Or did my being a monster provide evidence that there was no god – because who could create such a despicable creature?
It had been far more evocative a topic to Carlisle who had spent much of his life after his transformation pondering these questions, but in all truthfulness, it never bothered me much. I adjusted well to this life. I understood why I was changed and didn’t long for my humanity the way some of my other family members did. Of course, I hated the risk I posed to human life, but my conscience felt clear as my record remained clean. I never endured any self loathing for what I was.
Only now did I question myself. Only now did I wrestle with the ramifications of my immortality. Only now did I feel in its entirety – I had experienced strong desires for human blood before but never like this – the true shame of lusting for the end to someone’s precious life. Only now did I truly feel like the monster I was.
I was finally recognizing the wrongness within me.
I was mistaken to feel resentful and angry with the human boy. He did not make me this way. I had always been this way. I had just been blind to the fact for all these years. I had been naive.
He was entirely innocent and deserving of the life he would live. One where his future would not be stolen in a high school biology classroom as his body emptied. One where he would graduate and go on to better schools. One where he would have a successful job in something he was interested in that provided him with purpose. One where he would meet someone smart and kind. One where he would marry, have a family, and grow old surrounded by his progeny.
I suddenly experienced a strange sensation. A feeling I hadn’t felt in years – jealousy. Though I’d never envied a human before, I envied the possibilities this boy had. I never mourned the choices that were no longer available to me. I graduated countless times. I held countless jobs. I felt fulfilled in providing to the world with our philanthropy and loving my family. In that, I found purpose. I didn’t care to have children.
But did I care to experience romantic love?
I loved romance, but I never minded that it was unattainable to me beyond the pages of a novel. I’d met other vampires, but were the odds in my favor to find a soulmate amongst such a rare kind? I didn’t think so, and I was fine with that. I was happy in my solitude. At times, I was the odd one out in my coupled-off family, but I had often felt like the odd one out in my previous life. It wasn’t a new experience, so I never cared. But in thinking of this human boy’s life, free of monsters, free of me, I came to the realization that unlike myself, he could have anyone he wanted. He was not bound by anything other than maybe his own inhibitions. He had the luxury of choice in every aspect of his life but also in love. He had simply the luxury of love itself.
Why were these thoughts coming to me now? I had so much time to ponder my existence, and suddenly this encounter had me incomprehensibly considering inessential things.
I take back my previous feelings about the boy’s innocence. He is stupid and culpable. He’s inspiring stupidity in me.
He’s very fortunate that I have a conscience. I could just as easily murder him in irritation of the havoc his existence is inflicting on my life.
I refocused my thoughts on the scenery before me, longing for the previous morning where I watched the verdant motion of the trees outside the car window after Emmett’s silly destruction of the novel I still had yet to fix. Somehow, it seemed like a long time ago.
In that memory, I eventually found a small moment of peace again.
No painted eyes could haunt me here.
And yet, I was left with a sense of uneasiness, feeling as if my life thus far had been a long exposition, and I had just encountered the inciting incident. I was feeling – though I’d been irrevocably altered once before – as if something would soon change me forever.
we all know stubborn bella wouldn’t yeet herself to alaska like edward’s dramatic ass. hope y’all enjoy hehe <3

My Imprint | Carlisle Cullen x Reader
Request: Hi could you do a Carlisle x wolf!Reader. The reader is Carlisle’s blood singer and Carlisle is the readers imprint and the pack is outraged. Please have fluff at the end. Thank you 😊
Genre: Fluff, Slight Angst
A/N: Can I please get a Carlisle. As always, requests are open :) I’m working on getting to my other requests atm!
Tumblr media
Stupid telepathic connection. The pack wasn’t meant to find out that you had been seeing a certain Cullen behind their backs until you were ready to come out into the public.
Unluckily for you, you had accidentally started letting your mind wander and you kept thinking about how much you wanted to see him.
“Okay what the hell do you mean by ‘I miss Carlisle’? What the hell Y/N! Don’t tell me you’re really infatuated with a leech.” Paul was going overprotective older brother mode and had practically forced the whole pack to gather inside their den to confront you.
Sam and Emily rolled their eyes, sending you looks of sympathy.
“He’s my imprint Paul! And I’m his blood singer! I really don’t need to be hearing this crap right now. This is an invasion of privacy!” You retort, standing up and slamming your hands on the table leaning towards your brother.
The pack visibly flinch, never seeing you this outraged at them before, Paul doesn’t even wince maintaining his death stare.
“Paul calm down-”
“No Sam! I will not let my sister let herself fall into that bloodsucker’s trap!” Paul towered over you, huffing angrily. You weren’t intimidated, having dealt with this side of Paul many times before in the past. He liked to scare off boys that showed any sign of attraction towards you, wanting you to be lonely and depressed forever for whatever reason.
“Whatever Paul. When you want to get your act together, come and talk to me. I’m going to see Carlisle now.” You stomp off, Embry giving you a pat of encouragement on the way out.
“Y/N! If you walk out that door I swear I’ll-”
You turn back, slowly taking steps back towards the door. Looking a furious Paul straight in the eyes, “What? What will you do? Ground me? Last time I checked you weren’t my dad Paul.”
With that I sprint out of the house, shifting into my wolf form and bounding towards the boundary line where I found Carlisle already waiting for me, hands in his pockets wearing his pretty-boy grin.
He will really be the death of me.
With a whine of amusement I jump behind a tree finding the spare shirt, one that I always left there for last minute visits such as this. After I step out from behind the tree, I see him smirking at me, “What’s up sweetheart. I can sense your distress.”
Crossing the river, I roll my eyes, “That would be an understatement babe. The pack found out about us and Paul was totally grilling me in front of all of them. I wish he could see where I was coming from.”
Carlisle pulls me into his cold embrace which oddly enough makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. He was always so calm and collected, that was one of the many things you loved about him.
“Let’s go cuddle yeah? Then you can tell me about it.”
He lifts you onto his back and soon takes off, the world passing by in green blob and a loud whizzing of the wind running through your ears. Not even ten seconds later, you’re in front of the Cullen estate where Alice is already waiting, standing in the door frame with a bright smile.
“Hi Y/N! I totally saw this coming. Come, come. The others are inside.” She pulls you inside where you see all the Cullens lounging around and doing nothing in particular.
“I smell dog. Oh hi Y/N. No worries, you smell like a really clean dog.” Rosalie says, turning and smiling at you.
Awkwardly smiling back you turn to glance at Carlisle who looks like he’s suppressing a sigh, “Uhh thanks Rose. You look beautiful like always.”
You knew she was new to the whole being around a shape-shifter all the time thing, but at least she was trying.
“Now excuse me kids, Y/N and I will be upstairs.” Carlisle pushes you towards the stairs silently mumbling apologies for how weird his kids could be.
“Use protection!” You hear Emmett call from behind you followed by a wolf whistle.
“No promises!” You yell back, laughing when you see Carlisle nearly lose his balance. You drag him towards his room, humming quietly under your breath, unaware of the way he was looking at you from behind you, he was completely whipped for you. When you walk into his room, you beeline for his bed, collapsing like a starfish onto the soft mattress.
This was truly paradise.
Carlisle shuts the door, rolling his eyes when he sees the position you’re in. Walking slowly towards the bed, he looks at you with his eyebrows raised, lifting you up with no problem and laying you on your side. He looked utterly beautiful.
“Don’t do that Cullen.”
He turns to you, resting his hand on your hip, “Do what?”
“Stop being so good looking, if I didn’t know better I’d say you’re trying to seduce me.” You say lowly, bringing your nose into the crook of his neck. He laughs, squeezing your hip.
“Okay.. and what if I was trying to seduce you darling?” You pull back, humming in feign thought, stroking his face.
“Then I’d say it’s working.” He brings his arms to wrap around your waist, pulling you impossibly closer.
“Good.” He closes the gap between the both of you, capturing your bottom lip between his lovingly. You hum into the kiss, bringing you hands to cup his face. You both pull apart to catch your breath a few minutes later. Laughing, you kiss his nose, causing him to bite your neck playfully.
“I love you, I’m glad that you were the one treating my broken arm all those months ago.” You whisper, running your fingers through his blonde hair. He kisses you gently, resting his forehead against yours.
“I love you too honey, now get some sleep. I’ll be here when you wake up.”

How Midnight Sun Adds to Twilight Canon
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
The following contains spoilers for Stephenie Meyer’s Midnight Sun.
As discussed in the review, by dint of being a retelling, Stephenie Meyer’s Midnight Sun doesn’t drastically change Twilight canon. (For that, check out Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, Meyer’s gender-swapped rewrite of the first book that concludes with Beaufort Swan turning into a vampire to be with his immortal lady love Edythe Cullen.) However, it does expand our understanding of vampires through Edward’s perspective of his family: how each of the Cullens was turned, how they found each other, Edward’s personal struggle to follow Carlisle’s code of ethics, and how each Cullen interacts with Edward regarding Bella.
What Bella didn’t see in Twilight was how much Rosalie pushed back against Edward bringing a mortal into their family and tempting her to give up her humanity, and how Alice’s visions directly impacted his every move around Bella. In these Midnight Sun interactions, we also get a hint at Edward’s love life pre-Bella… or rather, his potential love life, as—surprise!—there’s not nearly as much as you would expect from a sexy vampire. Finally, Edward reveals more about his struggle with his vampire nature, and how he has made some peace with his bloody past.
Edward’s Talent and its Limits
One of the things that most draws Edward to Bella is that hers is the only mind that he can’t read, so he constantly feels off-balance around her. While he tells her as much in Twilight, in Midnight Sun he ponders what her parentage might have to do with it. It turns out that he also has difficulty parsing Charlie Swan’s thoughts; he can only get fleeting impressions or a few words here and there, as if there is a similar (though more permeable) shield. With Renée Dwyer, however, things are loud and clear—perhaps too loud, as Edward considers that even non-telepaths can probably at least intuit Renée’s thoughts and needs, the way that people seem naturally drawn to attend to her.
Alice’s Visions and Edward’s Dramatic Irony
The biggest “change” that Midnight Sun makes to the Twilight canon is the reveal that Edward knew almost from the beginning that Bella might one day become a vampire. Among the Cullen/Hale siblings, he and Alice are especially close due to their shared mental powers: As he can read her mind, that gives him a direct look into her visions. Concerning Bella, Alice sees a myriad of potential futures, but a few distinct paths stand out: Edward kills Bella. Edward leaves Bella, a blow to her emotional and physical well-being. Bella becomes a vampire.
The way Alice’s visions work is to first provide all potential futures, and then to quickly whittle down options, or clarify the major ones, through present actions. In real-time, through their arguments and debates over the Swan girl, Edward and Alice collaborate to figure out what is most likely to happen. While his taking Bella to the meadow eliminates the potential future in which he kills her—Edward has the attack of bloodlust that Alice predicted, but pushes through it—he can’t shake the likelihood that Bella will someday be a white-skinned, red-eyed, immortal creature.
This knowledge lends a dramatic irony to Midnight Sun, as Edward is constantly questioning whether his every action with Bella might tip the scales in one direction over the other. He, of course, does not share this dilemma with Bella, not wishing to encourage her toward the vampirism she claims to want. While Alice does let slip this vision by the end of the book, Edward struggles for as long as possible to give Bella as much free choice concerning her fate as he can.
With that in mind, Edward resolves by the end of Midnight Sun that he will live in the present in their relationship and resist the urge to peek at Alice’s visions:
I was taking our relationship one day at a time, one hour at a time. I didn’t look into the future. It was enough that I could feel it coming. When I promised her forever now, I meant as far as I could see. And I wasn’t looking.
But that’s simply a temporary solution to a permanent problem, and includes Edward trying to hide information both from Bella and himself. As he reflects to himself, he anticipates that something will happen to make him leave, and he doesn’t let Bella in on this fear. Instead, he tells her aloud that he will stay with her, then adds to himself:
As long as I can, as long as it’s allowed, as long as it doesn’t hurt you. Until the sign comes, until it’s impossible for me to ignore.
Which would seem to imply that he is not at all surprised at the events of New Moon, the “sign” to leave that he was already waiting for.
Edward’s Missing Week with Tanya and the Denali
After their bizarre first meeting in Twilight, Bella notices Edward’s absence from school for close to a week, before he reappears and saves her life in the parking lot. Midnight Sun reveals that Edward fled to Denali, Alaska, the Cullens’ former home and where their fellow vegetarian vampire coven still resides. It’s meant as a respite from Bella’s intoxicating scent, but it causes complications when vampire Tanya wonders if it means that Edward might have changed his mind about her romantic interest in him.
Alas for Tanya, despite her exquisite beauty, Edward has (amber) eyes for only one face. While they have a wistful conversation about how she wishes he would see her that way, ultimately Edward apologizes for “toying with [her] expectations” and actually draws inspiration from her relationships. After all, Tanya isn’t called a “succubus” for nothing; she’s had plenty of human lovers, many of whom lead long and healthy lives once Tanya learned to curb her bloodlust.
Though Bella eventually meets Tanya and the rest of the Denali coven in the later Twilight books, her cameo here fills in more of her one-sided romantic and sexual tension with Edward.
Cullen Family History
A lot of the Cullen family history comes out either during Twilight or certainly throughout the rest of the series, but because so much of Edward’s dilemma in Midnight Sun is about losing one’s humanity, he recalls how each of the Cullens and Hales joined the family.
To that end, the Cullens are unusual for having a family unit, as opposed to the more typical vampire coven. Covens might come together temporarily for a shared purpose and disband over disagreements, but a family is bound by deeper promises to one another: to lead a “vegetarian” lifestyle and maintain their treaty with the Quileutes by not draining human blood, but also to make decisions for the good of the family.
In contrast to how his telepathy makes him closer to Alice and her visions, Edward’s strained relationship with Rosalie gets explored more in Midnight Sun. As readers know, Carlisle turned her intending for Rosalie to be Edward’s mate, as Esme was for him, but despite her beauty, Edward wasn’t attracted to her. Instead, he saw her as a sister—at first in name, but then in action, the night she brought Emmett to the Cullens, near-death from a bear mauling, and begged Carlisle to change him to be her mate.
Despite this, they still clash over Edward’s choice of love in Midnight Sun—primarily because Rosalie is jealous of Bella. Left for dead by her ex-fiancé, immortality was the only option that Rosalie had, and she would give anything to have another chance at a human lifetime. So, Bella’s fervent desire to be turned feels to her like an utter waste. While these are sentiments that Rose expresses to Bella over the course of the Twilight series, Edward’s perspective delves deeper into his sympathy for Rosalie’s position, even if he resents her for not being willing to stick her neck out for Bella like the rest of the Cullens.
Edward’s Innocent/Guilty Victim
Edward understands Rosalie’s struggle with their vampire identity, and longing to be human, as he too has grappled with their bloodthirsty nature. As he tells Bella in Twilight, he had a bout of “rebellious adolescence” about ten years after becoming a vampire, in which he rejected Carlisle’s pacifism and left the family for a few years, to explore his baser instincts. Edward thought that because he could read humans’ minds, he could choose to kill only the guilty—rapists, murderers, moral monsters—and therefore “have it all” as a vampire with a conscience.
But while he admits as much to Bella, what he leaves unsaid is a big flashback upon which Midnight Sun expounds: September 1930, and his one victim who was technically innocent. In Milwaukee, Edward came upon a human man who was plagued with evil thoughts concerning a young girl in the tenement. Even as he repeated to himself, I can’t. I can’t. I can’t, he put together the resources and a plan to kidnap the young girl—the book doesn’t go graphically into his plan, but it’s easy to intuit that he intended to rape and murder her.
In the past, Edward had killed predators to ensure that they would not have a next victim; this time, he would be stopping a would-be monster before he took his first victim. Right as the man prepared to kidnap the girl, Edward captured him and killed him—serving the justice that the man had always subconsciously known he deserved.
In the end, Edward decided, even stopping humans from enacting evil on others was not enough to justify his killing them, and so he returned to Carlisle and the rest of his family.
Saving Bella
Readers get Edward’s side of the frantic chase after Bella and the tracker who lured her to a dance studio in Phoenix to kill her slowly in order to torture the Cullens—Edward, of course, but also Alice, his onetime victim who got away.
While Alice’s visions are the group’s lodestar for locating Bella before James kills her, Edward is so seized by vengeance that he could potentially alter their future to one of the scenarios where Bella dies. During their high-stakes chase scene in Phoenix, Jasper uses his talent of manipulating emotions to give Edward the empathic equivalent of a shot of novocaine: cold, numbing, and pushing aside pain so that he can focus on the job at hand.
Edward and Jacob
In contrast to his disdain for Mike Newton and the other human boys sniffing around Bella, Edward finds that he likes reading the mind of her friend Jacob Black: he considers the Quileute boy’s thoughts “engaging,” “pure and open,” and “restful.” Clearly he doesn’t see Jacob as a threat in Midnight Sun—at least, not at the beginning of the book. By the end, when Jacob cuts in to their dance at prom (to warn Bella that the Quileutes want her to break up with Edward and that they’ll “be watching” her and the Cullens), Edward notices with some surprise that the boy seems to have had a sudden growth spurt.
He also catches a curious thought from Jacob, about Bella having a weird perfume smell—something that Edward certainly didn’t notice. It’s all foreshadowing for Jacob’s werewolf transformation in New Moon, but it’s especially curious that Edward never catches on to the fact that his eventual rival for Bella’s heart is also a supernatural creature.
Persephone and the Pomegranate
The cover imagery for each side of the Twilight story provides some insight into the narrator’s impression of vampirism. For Bella, it’s an apple: the symbol of temptation, yes, but also of knowledge. A pair of hands hold the apple out, as if they have plucked it from the tree but haven’t yet worked up the nerve to take a bite. Bella’s journey in Twilight is taking that irreversible step toward knowing, because once she does, she won’t want anything else.
Where Bella sees potential, Edward sees consequence: Midnight Sun replaces the apple with a pomegranate that has already been split in two. Throughout the novel, he likens Bella to innocent Persephone, who eats half the pomegranate seeds and curses herself to spend half her life in the underworld with Hades, her (depending on the telling) lover and/or captor. Spurred on by the knowledge, via Alice’s vision, that there is a very possible future in which Bella becomes a vampire, Edward cannot stop obsessing over this metaphor and how, he believes, it would rob Bella of the joys of mortal life.
The Meaning of “Midnight Sun”
The first time that Edward realizes Bella is dreaming of him, and it’s not a nightmare, it challenges his self-perception the way nothing or no one else has in his near-century of life. He reflects:
My life was an unending, unchanging midnight. It must, by necessity, always be midnight for me. So how was it possible that the sun was rising now, in the middle of my midnight?
It… reads like pretty bad teenage love poetry, but what he’s trying to say is that when he was turned, every part of him was frozen, including his sense of self and his desires. As the sun permeating his midnight, Bella is making him reexamine what he’s allowed to want.
It’s not quite as poignant as the meaning behind Twilight: “It’s the safest time of day,” he explains to Bella. “The easiest time. But also the saddest, in a way… the end of another day, the return of the night.” But perhaps, as he seems to realize, if he pushes through to the deepest part of night, he’ll find a bright light to illuminate new parts of it he hadn’t noticed before.
