MUM?
Pairings: single-dad!George Weasley x Fem!reader Summary: George hired you to babysit his daughter while he works, what if she calls you mum on accident in front of George Warnings: none I don't think NOTE: tell me if you want a part 2, because i would be down to do another one
PART 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you've been babysitting George's little girl for about 5 months now for some extra cash and you couldn't help but notice she was a little angel that was just like her father
you had gone to school with George but you weren't in the same group, you were friendly but never really talked, so you were surprised when he remembered you when you came in for him to hire you.
he had called you in today because it was busy with the holiday coming up and you said yes.
so that's why you were in his lounge room, his little girl Chelsea on your lap with her stuffed toy as he spoke to you about what to do for the day until he gets off work
"and you can go out to the little café down the street for lunch, I don't really mind and yeah," he nodded his head, going off the list
"do you want her to bed at any particular hour?" you asked him
"no bed!" she yelled, playing with the stuffed bunny's ear
"you know what? it's the weekend, I can put her to bed after you leave" he replied
"alright, you good up here?" he cleared his throat
you nodded you head and watched as he leaned down to place a kiss onto Chelsea's head
"I'll see you both later" he smiled before going downstairs to the shop
you admired George for what he's doing for him and his family
after Fred's death he was left alone here and then his girlfriend dumped their baby on him and left, breaking up with him and tearing his life up even more
he's been left to provide for him and his little girl for 5 years now and after everything he can still put on a smile.
you felt bad for him and Chelsea, they didn't deserve any of that and you couldn't imagine how anybody would want to willingly abandon them.
"what do you want to do first, Chels?" you asked, lifting her off your lap
she struggled as she got off the couch before taking your hand in her small one, she took a few steps back and walked to her bedroom, you slouched down as you followed her
"sit" she said to you
you went over to her bed and sat down as she rummaged through her toy box
she turned back to you with a teddy bear in her hand and frowned
"not there" she whined before pointing the the ground on the purple and blue rug
"sit there" she demanded
you smiled and got off her bed, taking a seat where she pointed while she took a seat in front of you
"I'll be bunny" she started before handing you the bear "and you be mister fuzzy"
you took the bear and smiled at her before she began talking with a different voice, impersonating bunny
-
"what do you want to eat, Chels?" you asked her, looking at the menu of the little café George told you about
"pancakes!" she beamed, bunny in her hands
"sweetheart they don't have that" you looked down at her in her seat
"but daddy said they do" she frowned
"well it might be on the breakfast menu, is there anything you want that they have on here for lunch?" you questioned
she sighed and pouted
"fine" she crossed her arms
you read out what they have and she made her decision and got the chicken nuggets with chips
"what did you get?" she asked, shifting in her seat
you told her what you gotten and she hummed in response
"Y/n? do you like my daddy?" she asked you, giving you bunny as her milkshake came to the table
you smiled at the waitress and looked back down at Chelsea
"your dad is very nice" you blinked
"but do you like him?" she furrowed her eyebrows cutely
"sure" you replied shortly
"do you love him?"
"I barely know him" you laughed it off
"but daddy says-" she started
"-I don't think you should tell me what daddy said" you cut her off, thanking the waitress who put down your drink in front of you
"but-" she tried again but you handed her her milkshake
"how about you try your shake?" you smile when she took a sip
you and Chelsea talked about things and you told her a story of when her dad had pranked you in school that made her laugh and say her dad was mean, you decided to leave out Fred in case that made her sad or George hadn't told her of him, but you doubted he would do that
"can we go now, I wanna draw" she whined, swinging her feet
you had finished your food and had to pretend to eat hers for her to finish her plate
"alright alright, c'mon" you moved to get up from the booth and got her up
"I don't wanna walk" she cried
you slung your bag on your shoulder and picked her up and went to the counter to pay
you walked back to the shop with her in your arms
you entered the shop and saw George at the counter ringing up the products.
"there you guys are! have fun?" George smiled as he saw Chelsea. the shop wasn't rushed as it was when you left, so he had time for a light conversation
Chelsea grinned and reached for George
you passed her over and he groaned dramatically as he lifted her up
"daddy! I had chicken nuggets!" she smiled
"of course you did, you love them" he kissed her cheek, making her giggle
"what are you guys gonna do now?" he asked, looking at you and smiling
"I'm gonna draw!" Chelsea spoke excitedly
"ooh, what are you going to draw, sweetheart?" he rocked her side to side
Chelsea thought for a second before answering george
"a unicorn"
"well you better go and get to it!" he put her down on the ground and she ran up the stairs, being careful not to trip as he kept you there with him
"any problems?" he turned to you and raised his eyebrows
you wondered if you should tell him about what Chelsea was going on about, about what he apparently said for her to ask if you love him. but you didn't want to make anything awkward and end up getting fired
"no, there's never any problems with her" you shrugged
he shook his head amused by what you said
"what?" you chuckled, confused by what he was laughing at
"what do you that makes her behave like an angel?" he quizzed
"I don't know what you're talking about, I'm not doing anything?" you tilted your head
"the past babysitters said she was horrible, that she was awful and behaved badly, I'm just trying to understand why she's being so nice to you" he snickered
"well that doesn't seem like her, speaking of, I should probably go make sure she hasn't hurt herself getting up all those stairs" you frowned
"right, yeah, you go" he responded quickly, watching you as you rushed up the stairs to follow her, calling her name
-
"do you like it?" Chelsea asked as she picked her drawing up
you looked over at her and smiled at the art she made
"it's amazing, Chels! who are they?" you beamed as you pointed to the people to the side of the unicorn that you would see in a typical children muggle book
"well that's me" she pointed to the short girl in the far right
"then that's you and Daddy" she said as she motioned to the other two
you laughed it off and she went back to draw something else
"Chelsea?" you turned to her, she looked up and smiled brightly with teeth
"why are you so nice to me? I heard you didn't like the other babysitters you had before" you interrogated her
"becuase you're nice" she kicked her feet back and forth as she layed on her stomach
"is that it?" you raised your brows
"because daddy said you were nice" she replied
you sat up and watched her "when did he say that?"
"he says it a lot, he talks about you almost everyday" she giggled
you smiled and went back to scribbling on a piece of paper
"I'm bored" she sat up and let go of her crayons
"well what do you want to do?" you blinked
"can we bake something!" she stood up and started putting her things up, cleaning without having to ask her to do it
"are we allowed to?" you asked as you watched her
"daddy said we could do anything, and we did it like, last week" she huffed, taking your hand, waiting for you to get up
"alright then"
-
"crack the egg" you instructed, holding the bowl with one hand as you passed her an egg. she was sat on the counter with a little chef hat that she insisted on wearing
she banged the egg on the bowl and let the egg oose out of the shell, before putting it to the side
you picked out some of the shell and passed her the second egg, letting her crack the other one.
"alright, do you know what to do next?" you quizzed
"beat it" she answered
you got the mixer and did it yourself, her watching in anticipation
you kept mixing around the bowl until it looked good
you gave her the chocolate chunks and let her pour them in as you folded it in.
"alright, let's get you down" you let go of the bowl and picked her up and put her down on the ground, getting the tray ready
you scooped the cookie batter onto the tray and put it in the oven
"when will they be ready?!" Chelsea jumped up and down
"they won't take too long, but you have to wait until after dinner to eat them" you responded before hearing the door open
"I'm home" you heard George call
"daddy!" Chelsea yelled as she ran to him, jumping in his open arms
it was the usual time he closed the shop but you hadn't realised the time until now.
you smiled as you watched them
"what are you guys doing?" he grinned and he put her down
"me and mummy are making cookies!" she giggled as she went over to you.
your smile faded away and George's face turned beet red
your mouth hung open as you avoided George's gaze that was stuck on you
"honey, um-" George cleared his throat, he bent down to her level and looked at her
"what did you call Y/n?" he blinked
"mummy?" she mumbled, not knowing if she was in trouble or not
George kissed her cheek and whispered something into her ear, she apologised before running to her room
George stood up and looked at you awkwardly
"I'm sorry, that's never happened before" he sighed
you stayed silent for a moment, not knowing what to say
"I think she's just overwhelmed by the amount of time she spends with you, she might've gotten confused or just looks up to you and sees you as a mother figure. this is the longest that any babysitter has lasted so." he finished
"it's fine" you murmured, still a little shocked
"to be honest I'm glad she chose you to be her mother figure but if that makes you uncomfortable then i'll make sure it won't happen again" he smiled slightly, looking a little relieved
"it's ok, I wouldn't blame her, I think she's just confused too" you nodded vigorously
"do you want to um- would you want to stay for dinner? maybe" he asked
"if not, maybe with me, sometime?" he asked again before you answered
"are you.." you paused, once again, shocked "asking me out?"
"I mean, only if you say yes, and if I didn't just make a fool out of myself. I did didn't I? I'm sorry, forget I said any of that, it's been a while since I've-" he rambled
you'd be an idiot to turn him down, he was an attractive and funny guy, and a wonderful father.
"-I'd love that" you cut him off
"you'd love to go on a date with me? or both? I mean after seeing you with Chelsea I think I really like you- like is such a childish word isn't it? but i've grown some feelings for you and I hope you could reciprocate them" he gabbled
"I do" you smiled nervously
he stopped and looked at you for a moment, his face flushed and his smile faded before it came back again sheepishly
"great"

They both have different stories when asked, “When did you first meet?”
Steve says it was in school, along the hallways with freshman Steve Harrington and sophomore Eddie Munson locking eyes for the first time. Eddie says it was in a party, drinking beer and selling drugs, a transaction.
Wayne Munson knows the truth. The truth that way before monsters, way before creatures from games came true, way before the end of the world, way before everything, that Eddie and Steve have already met.
Wayne remembers that day so clearly. A social worker coming to his work in the middle of the day looking for him. Something about Wayne being the closest relative, about his brother going to jail and his mother running away.
Eddie's been living alone for two weeks. Two weeks. Cooking and cleaning for himself, the only reason it got suspicious is because he didn't go to school and one of his teachers called home.
He watches as Eddie swings himself at the empty playground. He brought Eddie here because— where do you bring children? Playgrounds are perfect right? He doesn't have the slightest idea as to what he's doing.
Sometimes in the morning, Wayne doesn't even have clothes to wear because he forgot to do the laundry. It's the same reason he doesn't have a wife and children. If he can't take care of himself, how could he take care of a whole other human being?
Out of nowhere, there's a kid running to the playground. Stopping just in front of Eddie and introducing himself with a bright smile.
His nephew stares at the boy for a few seconds before answering, "Hi, I am Eddie."
Wayne listens to them chatter for a few more minutes, before the boy asks if Eddie wants to be pushed.
Eddie's still giving the other boy a look of disbelief, before he finally says yes.
The boy's guardian sits beside Wayne. She looks better off, with an expensive looking coat and purse. But there's a warm, comforting smile on her face.
She turns to Wayne, “Is that your son?”
Wayne turns to her, pursing his lips, “I— Yes— No— It’s complicated.” He sighs. He doesn't even know what Eddie is to him now. “He’s my nephew. I just got custody of him today.”
“Oh.” The woman breathes out. Wayne turns back to the kids, Eddie's laughing now and it's music to his ears.
Wayne spills his heart to the random stranger, some part of his heart knowing that it will be safe with her.
“I don’t know what I am doing. I can barely take care of myself, let alone a child.” Wayne starts, “But he’s never got a good home and I want to give that to him.”
She smiles at him, "Just the fact that you want to give him a good home is telling me that you’ll be just fine. Don’t overthink it, life’s too short for that.”
It hits Wayne straight to his chest. He still doesn't know what exactly to do, but he feels better knowing that he has a chance to give Eddie the home he deserves.
“Thank you.” Wayne says, smiling at the woman as they watch the kids giggle and play.
“Steve’s your boy?” Wayne asks.
She beams back at him, answering without missing a beat, “Yeah, he’s my boy. Not my son, just my nephew. But I love him like he’s mine.”
Oh. Well, isn't that just perfect? Wayne softens and thinks— huh— she does understand.
When the time comes, Wayne watches as Eddie says a tearful goodbye with the other boy. There's daisies in his hair, like it grows right with his hair and Eddie has one tucked between his ears. It's intimate, the picture perfect to describe puppy love.
Eddie stands and waves at the boy's moving car, until he can't even see it anymore. And then, Eddie looks at him, "Where do I go now?"
Wayne stoops on his knees to see him eye to eye, "You're coming home with me. But before that we're gonna go get some milkshakes, does that sound good with you, Ed?"
Eddie looks at him curiously, brown eyes staring at him, "Do you have money for that?"
It floors Wayne, how grown up this child is. Eddie deserves to know nothing about this. In his age, he should be thinking about playing and making friends and being a child. No, Eddie is concerned if Wayne has enough money for a fucking milkshake.
"Of course, I have money for that, Ed!" Wayne laughs, patting his head. He stands, hoping it'll hide the pain in his eyes.
"Okay." Eddie answers. Wayne offers his hand for him to take, Eddie stares at it.
"Let's go?" Wayne asks, and Eddie nods, finally taking his hand, "Let's go."
From that day on, Wayne swears to protect Eddie, give him the home he deserves. He changes his shift to the evening one so he can stay home with him, gave him his room so he can have the privacy he deserves. Wayne loves Eddie like he's his own.
Even when Eddie finally comes out, that love didn't falter, "Hey, Wayne?"
Wayne turns to him. Eddie's bigger now, curly hair growing into longer wisps. He's wearing a vest with patches, they sewed it together months ago. "Yeah?"
"Remember that boy? In the playground with daisies in his hair? The day you took me home?" Wayne hums, nodding.
Eddie stares at him, arms crossed like a shield, "Yeah, he was my first love."
Wayne blinks at him.
"And I think— well— I know. I am gay."
Wayne nods, "Alright."
He turns to turn off the stove. Sits down and talks to Eddie, makes sure he knows that he can't be out because it's too dangerous, makes sure he knows that there's nothing wrong with loving another man.
And at the end of the night, Wayne tucks him in, just before he goes to work, kisses his forehead and says him, "I love you, Ed. Nothing will ever change that."
-
It's not until years later that he sees the boy from the playground again. Wayne's pretty sure he saw him in a few of the local papers, but he wasn't really sure, the pictures are too blurry, too small.
But this— this is the clearest picture Wayne has ever seen and he's damn sure that the boy sleeping beside Eddie's hospital bed is the boy with the daisies.
Wayne coughs, and the boy immediately springs back to life. It's odd. It's the same boy, only older. But there's so much weariness in his eyes, the same look Wayne has seen on war veterans. He still has brown hair, smooth and golden.
Eddie wakes up right after him, eyes bleary, with a small smile as soon as he sees him, "Uncle Wayne. I love you."
It's the first thing Eddie's said to him after a week of missing. Wayne chokes with tears. He moves closer to hug Eddie, tears in his eyes.
There was a time that he thought he'd never be able to do this again, that this was the end. Wayne was ready to burn this whole town, the whole world even, for whatever they've been doing to his pure, innocent nephew.
But he's here, alive and awake in front of Wayne and he thinks he can finally, finally breathe again.
"Never do that to me again, Ed. Never."
Eddie chuckles, "Alright. I promise."
"I love you too, okay?" Eddie nods.
They separate and for a few solid seconds, they all just stare at each other before Eddie speaks again, "Oh, uhm, Uncle Wayne, this is Steve. Steve, this is my Uncle Wayne."
Steve immediately stands up, shaking his hand earnestly. Wayne stares at Eddie, waits for any indication that he knows, remembers that this boy was his first love.
Nothing.
Nada.
After breaking every NDA he signed and telling Wayne every little tidbit of his crazy week, Eddie finally falls asleep again with the help of a handful of drugs.
Wayne takes his chance, just before Steve goes to go and check on their other friend, the Mayfield kid.
"Hey, kid?" Steve stops on his tracks, before facing him.
"Sir?"
Wayne scoffs, "None of that Sir stuff. Wayne would do. I just have a question."
"What is it, si— Wayne?" Steve blinks at him, lips pursing at the obvious mistake.
"Do you have an aunt?" Steve looks visibly taken back, eyes widening.
"Yes. I have." He blanches, "I did."
Oh. Oh, no.
"You did?" Wayne asks; he knows what the answer is but he still wants to know what happened to that woman from the playground that day. The same one that he still thinks of when he has a tough time.
Wayne has always thought that they'll meet again someday, that he'll get to thank her for that one conversation. He missed his chance.
"She died when I was a kid. Cancer." Steve answers, his voice quivering for a split second, "Why do you ask? Did you know her?"
Wayne shakes his head, "No. I don't think so. You just reminded me of someone, and guess I got it wrong."
Steve nods his head, accepting his answer wholeheartedly, "Goodnight, Wayne."
And Wayne watches, as the door closes shut behind Steve, "Goodnight, daisy boy."
-
Steve and Eddie, Wayne thinks, are utter idiots.
First, they dance together for ages before they finally get their act together and date. Wayne might've as well held a white poster paper with "KISS" written on it behind them.
Second, they fight over when they first meet and none of them are even right. Wayne is exhausted, listening to them argue about it day and night.
Third, they're blind. Literally blind.
The day of their wedding, Wayne hoped that the two boys would finally realize that they've met that day on the park. He asked that nice girl, Nancy, to pick some daisies and to put it on Steve's hair for the ceremony. While, Wayne went out to pick one to tuck behind Eddie's ear.
As Wayne watched as the two boys proclaim their love for each other in front of their family, with daisies tucked in their hairs just like the day they first met; he's overcome with the feeling of joy and happiness over the fact that the two boys still found each other even after everything.
It's ridiculous watching them not recognize each other, so Wayne finally decided to end their (his) misery.
Eddie clinks a glass with a fork, "Uncle Wayne! Speech!" There's a flurry of clinking before Wayne finally stands up.
"Alright, alright. I'll do it." They laugh, putting down their glasses.
It's a small backyard wedding. The Hopper-Byers has decked the yard with bright lights that brightened the whole night. In the middle, there's one long table to fit all of them. On the end of the table, side-by-side, is Eddie and Steve.
"Alright, I have a confession to make." Everyone straightens up in anticipation.
"I know it's been a running debate between Steve and Eddie, as to who's right about where and when they first met." Wayne can hear Eddie saying, "It's me obviously!"
"Settle down, boy." Wayne says, making them laugh.
"The truth is they're both wrong. You both have been very blind to the truth." Eddie makes an appalled noise as Steve laughs.
"The truth is I know when they first met." Eddie squints at him, confused. Steve whispers something to his ear that Eddie answers with a shrug.
"Steve and Eddie first met as kids. It was the same day I got custody of Eddie. I bought him to the park after that, let him play, you know? Out of no where, this kid—" Wayne chuckles.
"This kid comes up to Eddie, introduces himself and asks if Eddie wants to be pushed. His aunt— his aunt was very kind to me even though I was a complete stranger spilling my guts out to her."
"When it was time to leave, Eddie says goodbye to this kid, and it was so intimate. I remember thinking it was the perfect picture for puppy love. The boy goes home with daisies tucked in his hair, while Eddie goes home with one in his ear."
"It's not until years later, when Eddie came out to me that he tells me that the same boy with the daisies was his first love. And it's not until a few more years later after that, when I first meet the daisy boy again, sleeping beside Eddie's bed in the hospital."
Wayne turns to Steve and Eddie, there's pure surprise in their faces as they watch and listen to Wayne's speech.
"I could never really forget about that day and that boy. The way he made my nephew happy on one of the worst days of his lives. And now, he gets to make Eddie happy for the rest of their lives." Wayne sniffs, hiding it with a fake cough.
"Love is iffy." Wayne says, causing everyone to chuckle, "But what you guys have? It's been set into stone way before you knew each other. That's as true as love can ever be and I hope you nurture and care for it for the rest of your lives."
There's no dry eye in the yard. Wayne's heart is full and content, because he's sure that his son will be happy and taken care for, for the rest of their lives.
Wayne raises his glass,
"A toast to the daisy boys."

jimmy darling boyfriend headcanons
jimmy darling x reader
Tumblr media
. probably still in denial that he managed to score you, to be completely honest
. as much as a cocky and confident man that jimmy is, he's still very insecure in your relationship. in his mind, you deserve better than a freak like him (which obviously isn't true because you love jimmy with your whole heart)
. jimmy loves kissing you. anywhere and everywhere. his favourite places are your hands, shoulders and forehead. it's a habit that he kisses your hands whenever you see each other
. absolutely melts when you come to watch his act at the show. he always feels motivated when he sees you in the audience. everyone says he has so much more energy and enthusiasm when he knows you're watching
. always tries to impress you, even after you agree to go out with him
. i think that you probably met at the freakshow. you went one night with some friends, and jimmy would never admit it but he kinda followed you around
. you obviously clocked on when you saw him at both the popcorn stand and the carousel lmao
. would definitely be so embarrassed when you asked him about it but you found it really sweet that he took such an interest in you
. you both have a very strong bond and commitment to one another. you will always defend jimmy if one of your family members or friends speak of him lowly, and he would be your protector 24/7
. jimmy will 100% show you off to everyone. he loves letting everyone know you're his and his alone
. nicknames are a given. 'sweet cheeks', 'dollface', 'cherry pie' - all of them, usually to remind you of how sweet you are
. jimmy gets jealous very easily. not because he doesn't trust you, it's because he's scared that you'd leave him for someone 'normal'
. tries not to drink around you, he knows you don't like it. it's hard for him and the majority of your arguments definitely arise because of his drinking
. though he feels extremely guilty afterwards and ends up crying into your arms just to hold you, and because he needs to feel loved
. love is a foreign feeling for jimmy, and so i can imagine that he sometimes has a hard time showing his love
. this man needs loves praise and reassurance - he's a sentimental baby at heart okay? okay
. give him compliments and this guy will melt in your hands
. seriously, you once told him he had nice eyes and jimmy has never been the same since
. diner dates because it's the 50s and it's canon - jimmy loves banana milkshakes and i don't make the rules about this
. i can imagine you and jimmy reading together in the evenings because it's cute and i said so
. if you are also part of the freakshow, jimmy has never missed your act. not once and he never will, you're his favourite and he isn't very subtle about it
. his love language is quality time - jimmy loves being around you and cherishes every moment you spend together
. has dreams of marrying you, moving away from Jupiter and starting a family with you
. yes, he has already chosen the names for your children and would be absolutely heartbroken if you didn't like them
. jimmy loves when you touch his hair. brush it for him, run your hands through it, he's a sucker for it all
. would never admit this though, he's scared it would damage his masculinity
. maggie probably doesn't like you, but that's not really a loss let's be honest
. his mother though? oh my god, jimmy's convinced that she loves you more than him at this point
. comforting him after the death of his mother, poor boy would need all your comfort he could get
. i imagine that jimmy isn't really good at apologies, but this man worships the ground you walk on and so tries his very very best to make you happy
. overall, the best boyfriend and i would happily run away to the circus for this man (jimmy darling, a chance please)
. husband material, solid 8/10

edit: part two
-
If someone asked him a few weeks ago whether he would consider you a friend, he would have laughed in their face.
A friend? What a joke. Being your friend, even thinking of you as such, was so far removed from the realm of reality. It was possibly Eddie Munson’s worst nightmare.
You made his blood boil.
In Eddie’s eyes, you never experienced hardships. How could you? In your perfect house, with your perfect family, surrounded by your perfect friends, a perfect boyfriend attached to you at the hip.
Everything was fucking perfect.
In Eddie’s eyes, what you represented, and what you thought of life, couldn’t have been further from the truth. In Eddie’s eyes, you were delusional, always seeing the positives in things. Nothing was ever wrong and everyone always deserved a second chance, or whatever.
People like you were simply not made to be friends with people like him.
“You’re staring again,” Gareth muttered.
“She annoys me,” Eddie replied, not averting his gaze.
“Right… okay.”
That was a few weeks ago. Hate, or at least what he believed to be hate.
Today however, well, today, at this moment in time, you were parading around his bedroom wearing nothing but one of his raggedy t-shirts.
(Everything was fucking perfect).
“Eddie—”, Jesus Christ, the way his name falls off your lips is intoxicating, “— where did you put my skirt? I can’t find it anywhere.”
The metalhead chuckles. He slides off the bed and extends one arm above your head to reach for the garment in question.
“I guess I was a little too eager earlier,” he teases handing the item back to you, “I promise to take it off with more care next time.”
“Trust me,” you begin, fingers brushing against his as you take the skirt from his grasp, “I like you eager.”
Eddie’s eyes go dark, although on the inside he’s grinning like an idiot at your little admission. His hands find your waist and he holds you in place as you incline towards him, pressing your lips against his.
There was something about Eddie Munson that always drove you crazy.
It crept up on you, this weird feeling you only ever experienced when you were around the doe-eyed teen. Even before being whatever it was the two of you currently were, Eddie stirred something inside of you that you couldn’t explain no matter how hard you tried.
Obviously, it was no secret that — until recently — Eddie didn’t like you very much. The entire school knew how Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson held some odd unspoken grudge against you.
Which is why when a few weeks ago he was assigned as your partner for a history project, you were excited for the opportunity to find out why, and that was something you simply couldn’t pass up.
The first time you met up alone with the metalhead to work on the presentation, you decided to do so on mutual ground and the local diner was always quiet on a Monday evening.
Eddie was sitting across from you at one of the booths near the far end of the locale. Here the two of you were hidden from the rest of Hawkins, allowing for focus on the project as well as some privacy.
You ordered a strawberry milkshake and a portion of fries. Eddie ordered a burger and a large Coca-Cola.
“I guess we should decide on our presentation topic,” you eventually break the ten minute silence and place a notebook on the table between you.
He nods but doesn’t say anything, so you continue. “Did you find any of the areas we covered in class interesting? ‘Cause we can focus on that, I guess.”
He stays silent.
Instead of replying, he reaches for the inside pocket of his leather jacket and takes out a crumpled piece of paper. You arch a brow but any of the questions that begin formulating in your mind are answered when he flattens the item on top of your notebook.
It’s a drawing of Hades.
At first you’re slightly confused as to the point of him showing you this. Then you’re intrigued because you never knew Eddie could draw and quickly you find yourself wondering if he’s hiding any more talents from the world.
“I know we didn’t cover Greek mythology,” he finally says, “but the assignment doesn’t really specify we need to focus our presentation on what we did in class.”
When you don’t immediately reply, gaze still focused on the drawing in front of you, Eddie thinks he shouldn’t have said anything. Truthfully, at that moment, he couldn’t explain why he brought it up or even showed you the picture in the first place.
He’s about to snatch it back, tell you to forget about the whole thing, but within a split second your hand is on his and he freezes.
“Eddie, this is like really fucking good,” you state and look up at him.
The metalhead smirks because he thinks you’re kidding, and also because he realises he’s never heard you swear before.
“I’m serious, the detailing is out of this world. I can’t believe you drew this.”
Wait, you’re not kidding?
Eddie clears his throat. “It’s nothing special, just a little something I doodled earlier during maths.”
“You did this in one sitting?”
“Yeah.”
“Holy shit, that’s amazing.”
The pure awe detectable in the sound of your voice causes an odd sensation to rush through him. Oh, fuck.
He tries to remember where he is. He tries to remember the situation, the reason why he’s here. He tries to remember this isn’t a conversation with a friend. He tries to remember that he hates you.
He hates you.
And so Eddie grabs the drawing and puts it back where he took it from.
“Are we decided on a concept then?”
You’re slightly taken aback by the sudden change in his tone but don’t question it, after all, you weren’t here to befriend the guy. Not really.
“We’re decided,” you state and scribble a loose topic down before showing it to him. ‘Misconceptions Surrounding the Greek God of the Dead.’
Eddie reads what you wrote aloud and a modest smile circles his lips. “I like it.”
(He hates you.)
By the time a waiter brings over your order, the two of you have the bones of your presentations outlined and Eddie finds himself thinking how surprisingly easy it is to work with you. You’re not as ditsy as he always thought.
“What if we did a little segway to Cerberus here?”, you propose and reach for your milkshake.
He nods and is about to add his own five cents but as he lifts his gaze from the notebook, his brain is suddenly only focused on one thing.
Your lips are wrapped perfectly around the straw, your cheeks are slightly hollowed as you sip on the drink slowly.
Jesus Christ, he thinks and straightens in his spot, this feeling was certainly new.
Once again, he tries to remember how he’s not your biggest fan but this time repeating the phrase in his head doesn’t help. If anything, it makes the whole situation a tad… harder, (because the concept of a hate-fuck is realistly not too far out of reach).
When the image pops up in his head, he hates you and then he hates himself.
There is no way you would ever go that far with him. This was just a stupid project partnership, plus you had a boyfriend. He was Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson and you, next to Chrissy Cunningham, were Hawkins royalty.
But his mind is racing with thoughts he’s never had towards you and there is a small part of him wanting — hoping.
You pretend you don’t feel him staring at you. You pretend you can’t see from the corner of your eye how his hand travels to his lap. Mostly though, you pretend you don’t feel the butterflies in your stomach as his gaze burns into your skin.
And you go on pretending the rest of the evening, pretending nothing is out of the ordinary even though that couldn’t have been further from the truth.
The second, third, and fourth time you meet up with Eddie it’s still at the diner.
Mutual ground helps you both focus on the presentation, albeit with every meeting it gets tougher to do so and by day four, only the first twenty minutes are spent on the project. For the remainder of your time with the metalhead, you’re playing ‘20 Questions’ — surprisingly, Eddie’s idea.
You’re learning a lot about him and he’s running out of reasons to hate you.
He’s actually having a good time, something he wasn’t ready to admit out loud just yet, until one of the excuses he always uses against you struts into the diner.
“I’ve come to save you,” the jock states while plopping down next to you.
You shoot Eddie an apologetic glance before turning to address your boyfriend. “I don’t need you to save me, baby.”
(The moniker makes Eddie grimace).
“I’m doing just fine,” you reassure and place a hand on your boyfriend's chest.
He ignores you and leans in to whisper, “I wish you had let me take your place. Don’t like you spending so much time alone with Munson.”
(As if Eddie couldn’t hear every single word.)
“Why? Eddie is great.”
The jock rolls his eyes at your statement and persists with his own agenda. “Come home with me.”
“Baby, we still have a lot—.”
“Tomorrow is another day,” your boyfriend interrupts and shifts in his spot to look at Eddie, “You don’t mind if we leave now, right?”
The metalhead clenches his jaw momentarily. He’s back to hating you because cutting your time together short to leave with your boyfriend shouldn’t be bothering him this much.
“Right,” Eddie sputters before taking a peek at you. He bites down on the inside of his cheek because the disappointed look gracing your features is unmissable.
The next day, Eddie catches you in between class periods and suggests meeting up in the woods at the back of school as opposed to the diner.
He had a whole list of arguments ‘why’ planned out, none of them specifically mentioning that you wouldn’t be bothered there but realistically that was his priority.
Although, you don’t seem to care. You agree straight away.
There was a picnic table not too deep in where Eddie usually conducted business. By the time you arrive he’s already there, scribbling something on the inside of his history book. When he hears you approach, he shuts the item and focuses his attention on you.
“I’m sorry about yesterday,” you declare faintly while making yourself comfortable across from him.
Eddie waves his hand in front of his face as if it didn’t matter. “Don’t worry about it. If I had a girlfriend as pretty as you, I too would be concerned if she hung out with some creepy guy every afternoon.”
Did he just…? Oh, fuck. He did. He called you pretty.
It wasn’t intentional. It was true, yeah, but he didn’t mean to say it out loud. Shit. All he can do now is hope that you didn’t pick up on it.
“Eddie Munson,” you begin and he’s holding his breath, “Hawkins is full of creepy guys but you are definitely not one of them.”
He smiles at your words, relieved, and you return the expression.
“Way to boost my ego,” he retorts.
You shrug. “I gotta keep you sweet if I want you to do most of the project,” you tease and Eddie smirks.
Time flies and before either of you know it, evening turns to night.
The darkness brought with it a sense of comfort. Or perhaps the comfort was from Eddie who was now sitting next to you, his jacket draped over your shoulders.
He was resting one arm on the picnic table and holding a lighter, the small flame being the only source of gleam in your current surroundings.
Going home at this hour was definitely the responsible option, but you were both reluctant to bring it up. Instead, Eddie is back to doodling in his history book while you scribble random talking points for your presentation.
“Here,” Eddie breaks what was an amicable silence by ripping out the page he was working on and handing it to you, “For you.”
You drop your pen and reach for the piece of paper in his hand. Eddie scoots a tiny bit closer to you, his shoulder brushing against yours in the process, and carefully brings the lighter towards his creation.
“Holy shit,” your voice is a mere whisper as you scan the page, “Eddie, this is—”
“Do you like it?”
“Like it? I fucking love it,” you exclaim and tilt your head in his direction, a big grin plastered across your face. “I can’t believe you drew me.”
His gaze locks with yours and his heart sours. Jesus Christ, this feeling was so far beyond hate.
“I gotta keep you sweet if I want you to do most of the project,” he mimics your earlier remark and you giggle.
“Well, it’s working.”
Eddie smirks, sucking in his bottom lip between his teeth. His gaze searches yours, though for what exactly, he wasn’t sure.
And perhaps it’s the way you were looking at him right now, causing his stomach to jump inside of his body, but he finds himself putting the lighter down and slowly leaning in.
(Even in the total darkness, he can make out a certain soft glimmer in your eyes).
The pull he feels is almost magnetic. To say this is wrong on so many levels would be a colossal understatement, but it’s like the world fell away — for both of you.
Heart hammering inside your chest, and a little too lost in the heat of the moment, you match the pace.
His face now inches away from yours, his hands holding onto your sides. As his hot breath hits against your lips, sending a shiver down your spine, you swallow your breath. Fuck, fuck, fuck, where you really going to kiss Eddie Munson?
The answer… no.
“I’m sorry,” you mutter against his mouth and pull away from his embrace, “I am so sorry, Eddie. That uh—”, your voice cuts off.
Nervously, the metalhead runs both his hands through his brown locks, almost as if he’s unclear of where else to put them now that he’s not holding you.
“I have a boyfriend,” you chime in a soft whisper. The statement acts more as a self-reminder than anything else.
“You have a boyfriend,” Eddie repeats, a familiar sadness detectable in his tone.
There is a brief moment of silence in which he reaches blindly for the lighter, flickering it on once again.
“We shouldn’t probably get going, huh?”
You nod, unsure of what else to say.
Later that night, unable to sleep because all he can think of is the smell of your perfume and the feeling of his hands on your waist, Eddie jerks off to a picture of you he found in last year's yearbook.
He should feel guilty, he does feel guilty.
Especially when he’s back in bed, after he’s done cleaning himself up, and he shuts his eyes, the sound of your voice saying “I’m sorry.” replaying in his head on loop. He hates himself.
The following morning, Eddie hates himself even more because you don’t show up to the library as previously planned and he thinks it’s all his fault, (he really shouldn’t have tried to kiss you).
He hangs around for an hour, pretending to work on his part of the presentation but in reality he can’t focus on anything. Eventually he decides to leave and after a long day of self-deprecating behaviour, he’s sitting on the steps outside of the trailer with an unlit cigarette between his teeth.
“Hey,” a familiar voice calls, “Suppose you don’t need me to tell you that smoking kills?”
The doe-eyed teen looks up from his lap to see you approach. He hastily straightens his posture and places the single smoke behind his ear as you stop at the foot of the steps.
“Hey,” you say again, only more delicately.
“Hey, yourself.”
Sliding your hands inside the pockets of your cheer jacket, you exhale. “I tried to call you about missing this morning.”
“Shit, sorry. I’ve been kinda preoccupied, only just got home.”
“Right.”
There is a split second of silence. You’re wondering if coming here was a bad idea, while Eddie tries to get his head straight because — and he had to be honest here — did you always look so fucking hot in your cheer uniform?
“Well, I felt bad anyway so I finished the whole thing. I even wrote out your talking points which you can obviously amend as you see fit.”
The corners of his lips tug upwards. “Thanks, y/n.”
He pats the spot beside him and watches you abide without question or reluctance.
“Everything else okay though? You look a little sad.” Eddie asks, nudging your arm.
You swallow and without really thinking, place your head on his shoulder. “That depends if you think my relationship burning down like Starcourt Mall is a good thing or not.”
He doesn’t immediately reply, the revelation settling in. Was this because of what almost happened yesterday? Surely not.
“That sucks,” is all Eddie manages to blurt out because he’d be lying if he said he was sorry to hear.
You shrug against him. “It’s honestly whatever. He wasn’t the nicest of guys anyway. Fell more into the ‘creepy’ category.”
“Then why were you ever with him?,” the question slips off his tongue and he almost expects you not to answer, but you do.
“He showed me attention, I liked that, so the rest kinda took a backburner,” you’re candid, “Guess I just didn’t know any better.”
There is another moment of silence in which Eddie snakes an arm around you and without really thinking, places a kiss to the top of your head. A feeling of comfort once again settles in the air.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Mhmm,” Eddie hums.
“Do you think I’m a bad person?”, the question catches him off guard but before he can interject, you continue, “Like, because, because earlier while I was being broken up with, all I could think was how I wished it happened yesterday or the day before,” you pause briefly, “So I-I didn’t have to pull away when you wanted to kiss me.”
Hesitantly, you lift your head and tilt it to look up at him. He catches your gaze instantly and you can tell he’s a tad shocked at your words.
“Does that make me a bad person, Eddie?”
In the space of a heartbeat, his hands are cupping your face and he’s gently pulling you in closer. He’s done hating you. So much so, he can’t even bear to hear the possibility of you hating yourself.
“No, no, no,” he echoes over and over again, until the words fade into nothingness. “I think you’re by far the best person I’ve ever met.” — and it’s true.
Monday morning, Eddie is waiting for you at your locker. When you arrive, he hands you a daisy from behind his ear, one he picked on his way into school.
Your heart skips a beat.
And even though the two of you are on the receiving end of some weird glances from your fellow schoolmates as you lean in to peck his cheek, you don’t care. He may be Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson but he brought you a flower.
The history presentation goes well, better than expected actually. The metalhead thanks you about ten times while you retake your seats, and then an eleventh time with a note containing a quick scribble of Hades with a speech bubble: ‘Couldn't have done it without you’.
By lunchtime, you’re riding such a high, you don’t really think when you pull up a chair next to Eddie. The curly haired teen also doesn’t think anything of it and swings one arm casually around your shoulders, his fellow Hellfire members exchanging confused glances.
It’s not until your clearly bitter ex-boyfriend creates a scene in the middle of the cafeteria, that you think perhaps being around Eddie in this new capacity, so soon after your breakup at that, was a bad idea.
“Wow! Ladies and gentlemen, y/n y/l/n!”
You avert your gaze to the source of the commotion and the jock is glaring at you, a pathetic smirk plastered across his face.
“I would say congratulations, but is it really?”, he taunts, “Can someone truly congratulate a downgrade such as this?”
The whole cafeteria is whispering, snickering, and pointing at you and Eddie.
The metalhead is tense against you. Usually, remarks from the school’s most popular wouldn’t bother him, but this time they’re not only directed at him.
“Hey, asshole! How about you quit showing the entire school how jealous you are? It’s pathetic,” Eddie yells and the entire Hellfire follows with a, “Yeah!”
“Me? Jealous? Munson, I give it a week before she’s back in my arms,” the jock bellows in response and Eddie’s hands form into fists.
He was never one for fighting, but someone needed to shut this jerk up and Eddie’s glad to be the one — anything to protect your honour.
He’s about to stand, teach the guy a lesson or whatever, but you’re faster and before anyone can react, the whole school is a witness to you slapping the Homecoming King of Hawkins High.
“Fuck you,” is all you say before turning around to look at Eddie, who, as if on queue, is on his feet and hurrying in your direction. He’s definitely shocked at what just transpired, but he’d be lying if he didn’t also admit he was quite turned on.
Before Eddie can reach you however, one of the teachers present in the cafeteria, gains your attention and escorts you out, presumably to the principal's office.
The surrounding crowd of people parts like the Red Sea, allowing you to pass through with ease. Noone speaks (too stunned to do so), and it’s not until the door closes behind you, a roar of cheer erupts.
You’ve never been suspended before.
A sense of shame stretches through you. What are you supposed to tell your parents? How do you explain why you are sitting at home the remainder of the week? They’re gonna be so fucking mad.
Shit.
But as you make your way towards your locker to retrieve anything you may need, the feeling slowly dissipates when a certain leather clad metalhead appears in front of you.
“Shit, sweetheart, are you okay?” Eddie takes your hand and brings it to his lips, placing a delicate kiss to your palm.
“Better now,” you breathe out and skew closer so that your faces are inches away from each other.
“Wanna play hookie the rest of the afternoon?” Eddie’s eyes are glistening mischievously and you giggle.
“Well, they can’t suspend me twice but you can still get in trouble, so I’m going to pass,” you say and free yourself from his embrace.
The curly-haired teen groans. “Come on, sweetheart.”
“No, no,” you protest as you open your locker, “I’ll wait for you at your truck while you get the education you rightfully deserve.”
He laughs beside you and is about to say something — probably something witty or sarcastic — when the bell rings. Instead, Eddie gives your arm a pinch and runs in the direction of his next class, only turning around once to blow you a kiss.
When the day concludes, Eddie finds you exactly where you said you would be. He greets you with a swift hug. The glances from fellow Hawkins High students were no longer invasive following the slap earlier that afternoon.
“Controversial, but earlier was so fucking fierce,” Eddie states while starting the car, “I’m like, you got me all excited, shit.”
You giggle and carefully place your hand at the back of his neck, knotting your fingers in between his thick hair. “Well, I’m just glad you don’t think of me any less.”
“Less? Are you shitting me? Sweetheart, I-I think that just made me like you more,” he exclaims, the grin on his face spreading wider, “Man, it makes me wish you slapped the fucker earlier and maybe I wouldn’t have hated you for so long.”
You chew down on your bottom lip, mood changing. “Yeah, about that,” you let out a sigh, “I’ve actually been meaning to ask why you’ve been always acting so weird around me, or towards me.”
He’s taken aback, although he should’ve expected the topic to come up sooner than later. Especially now that you’ve pretty much shown the whole school who you would rather be around.
Yes, he had a whole list of reasons why but they all seem so irrelevant now. They all seem like excuses more than anything, excuses he used against getting to know you because truthfully, he simply thought you were out of his league.
“I guess it was easier to dislike you,” he finally admits.
“Easier than what?”
Eddie swallows before stopping the car on the side of the road and glancing at you. Jesus Christ, he swears he will do anything in his power to ensure you always look at him with that softness in your eyes.
But that was only going to happen if he was finally honest, with you and with himself.
“God, I guess,” he pauses, “The year I was supposed to graduate, I bumped into you one night after a Hellfire meet—”
“I remember that,” you interrupt and his gaze widens. “Yeah, yeah, I remember uhm, I was supposed to catch a ride home with Chrissy after cheer practice but she fell or something so her mom picked her up earlier.”
You string your brows together, focusing on the memory. “It didn’t really stick that I had no way of getting home until I was the last one out and—”
“And the only car in the parking lot was mine,” Eddie finishes your sentence and you nod.
Realisation hits.
A minute goes by, neither of you speaks.
Eventually, the doe-eyed teen restarts the car and for the remainder of the journey to Eddie’s trailer, the air feels heavy. It’s a weird sensation, reminiscent of everything good and bad combined, and it makes you want to scream.
There’s no way a silly call back to something that happened years ago can ruin what’s just beginning. There’s no way, right?
The metalhead is quiet as he hops out of the truck. He struts around the front and opens your door, patiently waiting for you to exit. But he avoids your gaze. He simply shuts the door behind you and turns on his heel in the direction of the trailer.
“Eddie,” your voice causes him to halt.
He takes a deep breath before spinning in his spot to face you one more time.
“Are you really trying to tell me the reason you’ve been openly hating me all this time is because I kissed you that night you dropped me home?”
It made no sense.
“No, I—” Eddie runs a hand through his hair, “— I uh, I hated you because girls like you never actually fall for guys like me,” he exclaims.
“But I kissed you, dumbass!”
“Yeah, and I kissed you back! But by the time I got home, all I could think was ‘She’ll regret it tomorrow.’,” Eddie asserts and you roll your eyes.
“So my feelings about the whole situation were invalid, is that what you’re telling me?”, your voice trembles.
He’s back to standing in front of you. Almost apprehensively, he lifts a hand and gently holds you by the jaw, his thumb caressing along your cheek in the process.
“Like I said earlier, it was easier that way.”
“For you maybe,” you mutter and close your eyes, trying to compose yourself. “That was really selfish, Eddie. What you done, what you been doing since that night, fucking selfish and I-I…”
“I would understand if you wanted to leave right now and never interact with me again.”
You scoff at his words, opening your eyes. “Because girls like me don’t fall for guys like you?”
“Sweetheart—”
“No,” you free yourself from his grasp and take a step back, “You don’t get to sweetheart me as if any of this is okay. You pushed me away then and now you’re trying to do it again. It’s like… It’s like you don’t want to let yourself be happy, Eddie.”
The metalhead exhales, kicking a random pebble underneath his feet.
“I’ve learned a long time ago that happiness is a concept just not available to people like me.”
Your heart sinks. Any anger you were feeling in that moment dissipates and you’re pulling him in by the sleeve of his jacket, wrapping your arms around his necks as he squeezes your frame lightly.
“If you prefer to suffer, I will gladly do so with you,” you murmur into his hair and he can’t help but crack a smile.
Pulling back, he glances down to your lips. His expression slowly changes to a desperate plea, and this time there is really nothing holding you back, so you answer by closing the gap between you.
As your mouth slants over his, a desirable sensation ignites every single cell in your body causing you to close your eyes and push into him further, urging for closenses.
Jesus Christ, he thinks, you taste better than what he remembers.
Eddie’s hands are holding onto your waist, applying enough pressure to make known that they’re there and that he’s not planning on letting go anytime soon. Your fingers tangle themselves in his dark locks, tugging at the curls.
Eager and hungry for more, he bites down on your bottom lip and a delicate moan escapes you. The sound is music to his ears and he hopes he'll get a chance to hear it again.
All of the pent up emotions rise to the surface and explode at once. When you pull away breathless, he smirks with confidence that makes you weak in the knees.
“I like it when you moan against my mouth,” he admits in a whisper.
You can feel the heat rush to your face and your first instinct is to bury yourself in your hands but the doe-eyed teen grabs you by your wrists.
“Don’t go shy on me, sweetheart.” Eddie licks his lips before placing a gentle kiss to your fingers. “I’m trying to tell you I think that was super hot. I think you’re fucking hot.”
“That’s quite the compliment,” you murmur before kissing his knuckles, “Although, if I had to choose, I think I prefer when you call me ‘pretty’.”
It’s his turn to blush. Busted. “You heard that, huh?”
You nod and smile, not feeling so sheepish anymore. “But it’s okay, I can be your pretty girl if you’d like me to be. I mean, I’ve wanted that for like two years.”
Eddie groans and you can feel his dick twitching against you. The glimmer in your eyes is almost wicked and he’s cursing himself for pretending to hate you in the first place.
You were fucking perfect.
“God, sweetheart, if my uncle wasn’t home right now—”
Placing a finger to his lips, you force him to end his sentence prematurely.
“Well, I do have a pretty free calendar this week,” you reveal and intertwine your fingers together, “If you think you can make time for me, we can celebrate finishing the project together, amongst other things.”
He clicks his tongue together. “I don’t know, sweetheart, it could be hard.”
You roll your eyes at his dramatics before teasing, “Something’s already hard.”

The Long Con
I saw this tik tok edit of Rachel McAdams in the movie Hot Chick where she gets a milkshake on house (and she's just totally playing the guy) and for some odd reason this spiraled me into thinking about Conman!Steve and Mob Boss!Eddie. So here is my brainrot I guess. Maybe I'll do more parts or make something longer on ao3 if people like it.
Steve wasn't one to not think things through. Yes, he was aware that it was a double negative. He played up the dumb part quite often, but Steve wasn't actually stupid. So it was all part of the game, really.
Steve loved the game. The rush, the push, and the pull of tricking someone, getting them for all their worth. Steve loved the game because it was fun. Steve loved the game because he got to use horrible people for his very lavish lifestyle. There was nothing like living rich by feeding off the rich. Well, he was trying to do that, at least. See, Steve, although good at what he did, he burned through money faster than you could say savings. It wasn't his fault, really. He used to be better at keeping track. Always made sure to have enough, just in case. Hadn't needed to worry about anyone but himself. Because the only thing Steve truly loved for a long time was the game itself.
But then he met people along the way, misfits and criminals like himself that he couldn't help spoiling. The only person who seemed to catch his problem was Robin, but even she couldn't resist a new hard drive for her computer. It's how she made her own money, after all.
Despite his problem with spoiling everyone, Steve always thought things through. He followed the rules of the game without rules and continued to fill his pockets, scamming the deserving and cruel. But sometimes, sometimes for Steve... his abilities and bad habits sometimes, well, overlapped. Sometimes, Steve could have been better at choosing the right people to care about. He was getting better at it, he swears. He let go of the wrong ones a long, long time ago.
But sometimes they came back begging.
Tommy had been someone from his life before. Before being on his own, back when purple and blue were his father's favorite colors to paint him with. It was a time before the game, a time that, although he tries to forget, had a grip on him.
So when Tommy called, seeking forgiveness, seeking help, Steve caved quickly. He would always be that same little boy, looking for love from a past that wasn't there. Tommy wasn't his parents, sure, but it was as close as he would get.
So, yes, steve normally thought things through, but there was the rare occasion, there was the exception to the rule, where Steve majorly fucked up.
He was in Boston when it happened. Even though years ago, Steve swears he would never be going back. He's in a small diner two blocks away from main street. And he had just finished getting Tommy's money back. Steve always celebrated with one of three things: drinks, sex, or milkshakes.
And Steve wanted out of Boston as fast as possible, so he went for his quickest and sometimes tastiest tradition.
"How much do I owe you?" Steve smiled innocently at the waiter, giving his best babygirl face.
The waiter bit his lips as he tried not to stare at Steve's mouth, "It's okay, it's on the house."
Steve licked part of his free milkshake off his finger, "Really?" Steve's voice was an octave higher just for the waiter. He could tell he was someone who had a preference for men, and most likely had a problem with letting go of his masculinity. So Steve knew the more feminine, the better. Steve couldn't help the sly grin that stretched across his face when the waiter got flustered. He was an attention whore; sue him.
His waiter—huh, Andy, according to his name tag—looked like he was about to say something when a throat cleared behind him.
"Andy, doll, you might be wanting to get back to the kitchen for a minute." A deep voice said behind Andy. It sent chills down Steve's spine. The Boston accent with a slight tilt of Irish was enough to captivate him. Andy moved faster than the speed of light at the command.
When Andy disappeared, with his tail between his legs no less, the most beautiful man Steve's ever seen revealed himself. A tall, pale, curly brunette stood before him in a suit with a ripped-up band tee underneath. It shouldn't look good, and it shouldn't look professional, but it did. Steve saw tattoos peeking out from exposed skin, piercings all over his ears, and enough jewelry to start a store. Steve was bewitched.
The mystery man smiled, hands in his pockets, and leaned down slightly into Steve's space. "Oh, sweetheart, I have been looking for you everywhere."
Steve stayed silent, drinking him in; he smelt of mint, smoke, and morning rain.
The man slid into the booth, put his arms on the table, and made a little beat with his knuckles on the plastic. Then, Steve noticed the words "Hell Fire" across his knuckles. Steve's heart sunk to his stomach. He had heard of those hands before. Those hands were famous.
The man leaned his face against his right fist. "Hell" pushed into his cheekbone. "The name is Eddie Munson, love." Eddie looked Steve up and down. "But I think you've already figured that out by now, haven't ya?"
Steve steeled himself. He should be okay. He hadn't wronged this man before, but something, something was telling Steve that he most definitely had. The look in his sweet abyss of eyes told him as much.
A smirk stretched across Eddie's face, and suddenly he kicked the leather bag next to Steve's feet under the table. Steve's cheek twitched slightly for a millisecond, but it was enough to give him away. "It seems here... like you and Hagan have stolen quite a bit of money from me." Eddie tsk-tsked while Steve's heart dropped from his stomach to his feet. Tommy screwed him.
"And that love, well, that just won't do."Steve had never seen such a sweet smile feel so deadly. "So, Sunshine, I am going to make you a deal, and you would be smart to take it."
Steve wasn't actually dumb, but yes, he most definitely did not think this through.
________
Sooo thoughts? I was going to write more but if this was a flop, I didn't want to put my heart in soul into it. But I did spiral a bit with it. Whoops!
edit: I made some grammatical changes but that's it. I realized I kept switching tense changes when I was writing in present, so I changed it to past. I'm much more comfortable with it. Let me know if there are any more errors.

How to fall in love twice part 7
Tumblr media
Pairing: Malon x Time x reader
Rating: G
Summary: While you and Malon go on an unofficial coffee date, Time finally has some sense knocked into him thanks to Wild, Warriors, and Legend.
Warnings: N/A
Other: If I missed anything, please let me know
-------
The third day in modern Hyrule begins with the delightful experience of introducing Malon to modern coffee shops. Which is certainly worth it.
However, first, you get a nice shower. With your hair routine, proper soap, any shaving you might choose, and the ability to have hot water. It's glorious, and you are thankful for running water.
Malon takes a shower as well, still confused about modern shower products, but delighted in the effects! She likes that there are so many options. She also adores the hot water since she doesn't have to heat it herself.
Malon has delighted in modern clothes, a sage colored cable knit sweater, and dark jeans are her chosen outfit today.
How the fuck is she so pretty all the time? It should be illegal.
You need to focus on the things going on. Not on how pretty Malon is.
You also need to introduce her to milkshakes. You think she'd like them. But that's for later.
For now, you focus on getting your wallet, keys, and any other items you need for a city outing. You glance at the deity mask sticking our of your bag.
You find both comfort and worry in the presence. The mask has the markings that Time bears. And yet it feels unlike him at all.
You shake your head to dispel the thoughts. There's no use dwelling on those things.
Your time is much better spent on other things. Like kicking ass or spoiling the gorgeous red head you're with.
You lead Malon into the local coffeeshop midmorning. The crowd is not dense, but there's quite a few people there anyway.
Mostly, it's college students who take residence in the establishment.
You both look over the menu, and once you've explained the new drink concepts to her, you both step up to order.
"Welcome to Cuthulu brews. What can I get started for you?" The barista at the counter asks with a smile. Their eyes look dead, though. Classic customer service jobs, sucking the life out of people.
"Can I get a mocha but like - not taste the coffee?" Malon asks.
"Uh- maybe?"
"Why don't you get a shot of espresso in you hot chocolate." You suggest lightly.
"I can do that?"
"Sure, you want hot chocolate with one shot?"
"Yes, please."
"What size?"
Malon looks to you, unsure but excited.
"Large, please." You decide, that'll be more chocolate to hide the coffee taste in.
And really, you think you both deserve nice things after the hell you've been through lately.
You don't know what you'd do without Malon. Ignoring your feelings for her she's still been such a help and pillar of support.
"Awesome, can do. And for you?" The barista turns their attention to you.
You order your drink, along with two breakfast pasteries. You want to make sure you and Malon are both eating well enough.
You pay and leave a tip.
While you and Malon wait for your order, she seems to be buzzing with excitement.
"You're more chipper today, good dreams or something?" You ask with a smile.
The smile she turns on you is dazzling, "Sort of. I'm just glad I'm with you mostly."
"Oh, that's sweet. I'm glad I'm with you too, Mal." You smile and then feel silly using the nickname you've only heard her husband use. "Sorry, uh, the nickname is probably weird."
Malon just shakes her head, "Not really! I like hearing you call me that."
"Oh. Okay." You smile, trying not to read into any of this.
But over the time spent with Malon- your crush has definitely become bigger. And you are a lot closer to in love than you should be.
After collecting your drinks and breakfast, Malon leads you to a window table to sit at. Her mood is the highest it's been in a while.
It's good to see her happy.
"You said you wanted to show me something called - a wifey?"
You nearly choke. "WiFi. Wifey is something different."
Malon laughs, but she looks like she said the wrong thing on purpose. But that's got to be wrong.
(It's not wrong. She's teasing you.)
"You're probably right." She says before taking a sip of her drink.
You just resign yourself to a few bites of breakfast pastry. You need a moment. Just to get your mind up and running again.
"So, if we're in your time, don't you have someone to check in with?" Malon asks as she looks you over.
She does that a lot. Why's she always looking you up and down? She's not checking you out. That's just silly.
(She is checking you out. And she thinks it's rude you keep trying to stop yourself from returning the attention.)
"Not really. I'll be gone again soon so it'd just upset them." You say simply.
Because really the longest you've stayed in any time is a week since you got pulled away from the chain. So why bother upsetting people?
"I guess. But I'd want to hear from you."
You laugh, shaking your head. "You're sweet to me."
Malon makes a face, as if amused and exasperated. She does that a lot when you try to wave off her compliments.
"(Y/n), sweetie, you're a lot better than you give yourself credit for."
"Oh. Uh- thanks."
She just smiles, and sets a hand on your hand. "I mean it. You're going to make whoever you end up with very happy ome day."
She has a weird tone, and you almost think she wishes she was who you end up with. But that's ridiculous and probably not right.
"Thank you."
-------
Time is having a very bad time. Since he saw you and Malon, he's been torn up inside.
On one hand, you're both alive!
On the other hand, you're still who knows where facing threats he can't protect you from.
What a great time.
"You need to eat." Wild says as he pushes the shepard's pie into the old man's hands.
Time looks at him, blinking. Right. Food. He does need sustenance.
"Thank you." Time manages.
Wild just sighs, shaking his head. "You're disrespecting both of them by thinking they're gone."
"I don't - I don't think they're gone... I just think I'll never see them again."
Wild just levels a stern look at Time. He's not paid enough for this. He isn't paid at all, actually.
He will have to talk to Hylia about labor laws. She needs to hear from his union.
First, he needs a union, actually. He'll have to ask Legend for help there.
"What?" Time manages with a strangled edge.
"You're being entirely too pessimistic. Everyone thinks we'll see them again. Even Legend. So are you going to snap out of it?"
Time blinks again, confused and unsure if he should be offended. He's just being realistic!
Right?
"Don't give me that realistic spiel. Stop making things out worse than they are."
"I'm not!"
"We saw them three days ago. They were alive without any immediately fatal injuries, and they were both standing on their own. So unless they've started throwing the same pity party you are, they're fine."
"I'm not throwing a pity party."
"Call it what you want, but you're being too seal-ious."
"You did not just make that pun."
Wild just grins. There is nothing like puns to make people listen to you.
"Is he done making the worst assumptions?" Warriors asks as he makes his way over.
"I don't know. Time?" Wild turns expectantly to the old man.
Time just sighs. "Yes. We need a plan."
"We have a plan." Warriors says, as if it should be obvious.
"Since when?"
"An hour after we saw them. Some of us have been getting shit done." Legend adds helpfully.
"Legend." Warriors sighs. Though he dosen’t seem too far away from the sentiment.
"You didn't tell me?" Time asks, sounding genuinely upset.
"The only people who can pull you out of your spirals consistently are the reason you're spiraling. We tried." Pegend tolls his eyes.
"You're not the only one who misses then, Time." Warriors sits beside Time gently. "You may know Malon the best, but we all like her."
"And we all love (Y/n). Not the way you do, but they're one of us." Wild says firmly, "Twilight is barely keeping it together. You know he hates losing loved ones to portals."
Oh.
Time realizes he's really been disconnected. Of course, everyone else misses you and Malon.
He didn't even think about how the others might feel.
Shit.
"I'm sorry." Time says as he looks between his three companions. "I haven't- been present latley."
"We'll forgive you, this time." Wild gives a little grin, "Just don't get lost in your gear again."
"Deal."

eddie munson x popular!hyperfem!reader where he works at Scoops Ahoy with Robin and Steve. he hates it there, mainly because of the ‘god-awful outfits’ (his words), but he needs extra money on the side and the movie theater wasn’t hiring, so here he is.. (he refuses to wear the hats though--but his hair is loosely tied back so he gets away with it (which steve is jealous of because for some reason he still has to wear them (probs because eddie sold the manager weed for free as long as he didn’t need to wear those dumb hats)).
so, he’s just scooping icecream to little brats, his ringed fingers tired from mainly erica demanding to try more flavors for the past hour before she decides to leave without buying anything.
but, when he sees you come in, he forgets anything. ‘m thinking of that one scene with rachel mcadams in the move ‘the hot chick’ (iykyk) (you’ll understand maybe later hehe)..
your hips sway as eddie swallows thickly, his grip on the icecream scooper making an indent on his palm..god, why did he have to work there?! he’s wearing possibly the most dorky thing known to man-kind, and here you come, your posse and all; short skirts, heels, and lipgloss galore. eddie’s been obsessed with you since middle school, and you know that (you take advantage of it alot (and you admit that he is cute (even with that uniform on))
the girls behind you giggle as they see him, steve hiding in the backroom with robin because they are quite literally terrified (and embarrassed to be seen by such a popular group) of you.
though, your eyes set sweetly on eddie as you smile warmly.
“h-hi,” he stammers, his voice cracks a little and he just curses himself in his head for sounding like a fuckin dork.
you giggle, “hi,” you twirl your hair, “i didn’t know you worked here..”
eddie chuckles nervously, “e-yeah, gotta earn money somehow..”
you smile, knowing what he does on the side, but choose not to comment on it anyway.
“right, well, can i get a strawberry milkshake, please? small. annn’...that’s all!” you bite your bottom lip, bouncing a little on your heeled feet.
eddie clears his throat, “y-yeah, sure.” and you smile, turning back around to talk to your friends.
he turns to face the blender, beginning to make your drink, muttering a small, “fuck,” his eyes clenched shut as he cringes at his lack of game. you chatter away with your friends, most of them fawning over you (because...who wouldn’t?). but you just thank them kindly, or respond with a nice compliment to them back.
that’s what eddie liked about you. you were kinda mean..fiesty-- but never have you made fun of someone that didn’t deserve it. you were nice. nice to his friends in Hellfire, but most importantly, you were nice to him.
once your milkshake is done, he rings the bell on the counter with jest, his arm extended out in front of him. you turn around, and he swears he feels like he’s gonna pass out by the smell of your shampoo that makes him weak. how do you smell so fucking good?
you giggle, biting your bottom lip before you drag your tongue across the whipped cream, humming exaggeratedly at the test.
yeah, he’s definitely gonna pass out. he smiles, a breathy laugh falling from his lips as his eyes watch your glossy lips move.
“so,” you say slowly, “uhm, how much do i owe you?”
your eyes wide, a small flirtatious smile settling on your lips--and immediately, eddie can’t think properly.
“d-don’t worry about it,” he stutters out, and you tilt your head like a small puppy. “’s on the house.”
you smile wide and gasp softly. “really?” your voice is high, and--so so nice.
eddie nods quickly, his eyes flipping from your lips to your eyes.
“thanks!” you say, and your friends laugh girlishly, squealing.
you give him a little wriggle of your fingers as he watches you walk away, his hand waving back slightly.
he’s sick with love until he hears Robin clear her throat behind the break room’s counter.
“shit.” eddie mumbles, turning around to face the smiling girl.
“yeah, ‘shit’, is right; your game sucks, dude.”
“also, you gonna be the one to cover for her order? because, neither of us are gonna be doing that for you, buddy.” steve speaks behind robin, hands on his hips as a shit-eating grin creeps up on his face.
“don’t worry ‘bout it,” eddie grits out, annoyed. “i’ll pay for it,, i got it.”
“good, because i’m not covering for you, man..”
“ah, don’t worry steve, eddie’s gonna be covering two things: y/n’s drink order and the front of his pants..”
eddie quickly looks down, his eyebrows furrowed as he realizes that he has a fucking semi..
jesus, fu--
“sooo.. do you needa take a small bathroom break to fix your..situation?” she smile smugly, gesturing her hand to eddie’s crotch-area. steve’s laugh is boisterous from behind her at the white board.
“fuck, fuck, fuck! i hate you guys, this is all your fault--fuck!” eddie’s hands immediately cover himself, as he pushes the door open to the break room, flipping both robin and steve off when they laugh, as he tries to find the nearest bathroom to fix his...issue.
“God, i love working here..” robin sighs, wiping tears from her eyes. steve nods in agreement, and the pair burst out laughing again.

Hello 🥰 I have been going through a couple of your series and I just love them so much! I really love the latest update to Bucket of Sunshine ☀️ I was curious about the conversation she had with Eddie when he came to the party for her—either at the party or the Benny’s date (because yes that is totally a date). Thanks so much in advance!! 🖤💗🧁
Tumblr media
Hiii babes!! Awe I’m so glad you enjoyed the newest update!! I’ll gladly give you a conversation t for both, one for when Eddie got to the party and one while at Benny’s and I think this fits in perfectly for Fluffy Friday! So enjoy💖
-find all things Bucket of Sunshine here✨
*Eddie didn’t realize what all he was signing up for when he agreed to hang out with you and take you to Benny’s*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“What…are you wearing?” “Eddie remember it’s rude to start a conversation with a question.” “I’m here to recuse you from a house party and you’re giving me a lesson on manners?…really?” “That’s three questions in a row…wanna toss in one more to make it an even four?” “What are you doing?…with…that?” “That’s technically two but I’ll let it slide…now to answer you I’m wearing a sundress and I’m holding your hand…anything else you want to know?” “Uhm why…why are you holding my hand…like that?” “Oh sorry is interlocking the fingers too much? You said you don’t like walking into parties alone so…I figured this was how you wanted to walk in?” “I was just uhm…uh joking…about that.” “Oh okay…well then after you.” “You don’t…have to…let it go…it’s fine..uh it’ll actually make it easier to keep my eye on you if you’re uhm…attached to me…” “worried I’m going to run off huh?” “Not run…more like dance away from me.” “I do like to dance…now come on I’ll introduce you to Henry and Nick.” “Uh how about let’s skip that and go find the real party on the back porch?” “The real party?…” “oh…you’re cute when you’re clueless…come on you’ll be fine.” “Okay…oh look there’s Steve…where are you going?” “I’ll be right back…I have to talk to your brother really quick just…stay here.” “Okay..what’s wrong?” “Uhm…I need…my hand back…” “oh sorry…”
“You uh…have whipped cream on…your lip.” “Oh thank you..that always happens I think it’s because I drink it so fast but I just can’t help it they make the best milkshakes…Eddie why are you looking at me like that? Is there more?” “What? Oh…sorry what did you say?” “Are you okay? Do you need-” “I don’t need to eat if that’s what you’re about to ask me…” “it’s rude to just watch someone eat…” “I’m not watching someone…I’m watching you…there’s a difference.” “Whatever you say…you’re really not hungry?” “I promise I’m fine okay? Now…uhm..how was your day?” “It was good! Stevie took me to the library to return some books I got on how to start a garden…I’m trying to grow sunflowers and they are being a bit tricky.” “Did you just call Steve…Stevie?” “Yes? That’s what I’ve always called him.” “Oh god that’s fucking great! What does he call you?” “Most of the time he calls me sister…or sis.” “Sister? Really?” “Yes like when he comes home he shouts ohhh sister! I’m here! He’s very dramatic.” “Is he uhm..is he nice to you?” “Nice to me? Oh he’s the best…he does get kinda irritated with me at times but yes he’s nice to me…why?” “Just wondering…” “how was your day?” “Why are you so nice to everyone?” “Excuse me?” “Why are you so…nice to people you don’t know or legit assholes who don’t deserve a single second of your time…why are you nice to them?” “I just…I don’t know? I guess because if I’m nice to them they’ll be nice to me and…I just enjoy making people smile.” “I wasn’t nice to you.” “You weren’t mean to me.” “Yes I was…” “no…Eddie you think you’re mean but you’re really not…anyone who takes the time can see it’s just an act you put on…I know you’re not really an asshole.” “Yeah well i sure as shit tried to be and uhm…I shouldn’t have been…so rude.” “It’s okay.” “Are you cold?” “A little…sundresses are all cute and fun until the sun goes down…” “here…” “i need to get a jacket like this it’s so comfy and warm.” “You like it?” “Yeah it’s nice…you sure you don’t want any of my fries?” “Stop trying to feed me.” “Sorry…it’s a habit…”

@mesevents art exchange @sleepygaymerdisease! sharing some lovely cookies with eachother with drinks henry made (being an alchemist has a lot of skills that overlap with barista-ing)
slowly fell in love with these guys as i drew them - i based some hypothetical drinks off of them too based off their design/personality (descriptions under cut):3
silhouette has a blueberry milkshake based mostly off of the wispy shadow powers she has! i feel like they deserve a nice sweet treat
henry has a limeonade in a beaker mug because hes very bright and green. also a little cherry on a toothpick themed after him as a treat.
and henricus has a nice lavender sweet tea in a cute iridescent goblet cup i based off of one i have irl <3 and a straw because i think he deserves it

I think it was because he was abused or something and apparently had drinking problems? Like bruh you cannot claim to use subversion of 80s horror genre tropes and at the same breath make your black character one of the victims without even focusing on it. Its just...? St can really use some criticism sometimes
Yep it was because he had drinking problems and was a disgrace to his family as per the voiceover that Patrick and we hear as he's riding in the car with Jason n the gang. And then Lucas mentions that he once saw him with a black eye. That's it. That's all.
Patrick deserved way better. Even discounting the fact that he's black. The same episode had the stupid mid air fight between Murray Yuri and Jim's girlfriend. That lasted longer than necessary. That existed. Both valid reasons for having a more fleshed out buildup to THE MOTHERFUCKING SACRIFICE FOR ONE OF THE FOUR (NOT FOURTEEN) GATES.
Maybe if they cooled it on Eleven slow jogging through the lab, eyes wide, breathing heavily and emoting nothingly, Jopper doomsday fucking, Elmike/Mileven, (God stop milking it, it's not great writing, we are gaslighting ourselves to believe it is cuz there was a time we thought the most they'd do for gay Will is have his best friend say something INCREDIBLY HOMOPHOBIC to him), a Russian plot sillier than season 3's - fucking talent, I could go on we could've had something justifying (at the risk of sounding repetitive) A MOTHERFUCKING SACRIFICE FOR ONE OF THE FOUR (NOT FOURTEEN) GATES.
Also leaving you with some of this:
Tumblr media
Jason to Patrick
Tumblr media
Mike to Lucas
Tumblr media
Billy to Max about Lucas
Tumblr media
Mike about the science fair contest
(Let me elaborate: It was a state competition and the result was political? MY conjecture is it was not because of frogface or a boy with no teeth or a boy who his town thought was queer - I'm suspecting it wasn't a statewide consensus. Who's left?)
Tumblr media
Jason with Lucas
Tumblr media
Andy with Erica
I'm not American so I'm not someone who gets the whole American experience of it. But American cultural colonisation means I'm somewhat aware of the tendencies in media. N to me personally I don't resonate with a white/black/brown American character on a racial level but just by how they're written n how well the work is performed. I do not live in a post racial world bt my country has its own different version of racism. That is to say any character being white/other colour is of ZERO value to me. So when I am consuming foreign media, I'll be like this is well written that is not. But then when I arrange them in order of well written to not or underwritten, it's a shade card alright. (🙋🏻🙆🏼🙅🏽🤷🏾🤦🏿) So ya. It's like white ppl tend to write white ppl better. What a discovery. Idk if to call it racist or "I don't see colour" in that I only see white cuz it is not a colour. (How is that for colour theory?) That is NOT to say that X CANNOT at all write about Y. Writing is after all a collaborative effort. It just means you gotta do both: collaborate and put effort.
ST exploits the tropes more than / before it subverts them. And like not in a good way. It's a fantastic show with plenty of opportunity to love it and shit on it in unequal measure tipping more in favour of shitting. And I'll be doing both. Especially regarding the characters that don't go by the name of Mike or Eleven. But them too.
You'll also see me Kali raging soon. Very soon. She might also be (DEFINITELY IS) why I have this whole new account anyway.
Tumblr media
El's abuse > Kali's abuse. Okay. At least accepted within text by the writers. Want the "yass girlboss El shoulda snapped Angela's neck for....er...breaking your diorama and ....er......throwing milkshake on you" crowd to respectfully go. Just go. Go Away!

All Too Well (Steddie Version)
part 5! part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4
or read it on ao3!
“I said we would talk about it before we called things off.”
Steve leaned back in the booth across the table from him, crossing his arms. “I don’t expect people to keep their promises to me. They almost never do.”
Eddie stirred his milkshake with the straw. “I don’t think it’s fair of you to rope me in with all the rest of your abusers.”
“Then maybe we got lost in translation.” He’d been talking to Nancy a lot lately. She didn’t support either side, because clearly, she was invested in both, but she told the truth and Steve had cried a lot. Eddie didn’t need to know that. “Nancy says no one sticks around for me because I ask for too much. I guess you’d say the same.”
“Self-effacing isn’t going to save your ass this time, Harrington.”
“I’m aware. I really do want to know.”
“Alright, fine. Honestly? I don’t think you asked for too much. I think you asked for what you deserve, and because no one’s ever given you that much before, you think it’s too much. Nancy isn’t a good source on it because she wasn’t even able to give you what you needed.”
“Brave of you to insult my exes when you took the Hall of Fame.”
“You wanted the truth. I gave it to you. Maybe this was a masterpiece, and we tore it up. Maybe if we’d been closer in age, I could’ve known you better before I went in blind and it would’ve been fine. Who knows?” He kept swirling the straw because it gave him something to look at beside Steve. “All’s well that ends well, I guess.”
Steve wanted to die. All he’d been thinking about was Eddie, he was always on his mind, and he was in hell. He felt betrayed, double-crossed, which was stupid, it didn’t make sense. He didn’t want to feel anything.
“I mailed all your clothes and stuff back. I didn’t know if you were actually going to show up today, but I wanted to make sure you had it all.” Eddie took some cash from his wallet and set it on the table.
“I’ve got your stuff in a box. I was gonna drop it off when I take Max to soccer on Thursday so I can make sure I get everything.”
“Great. Say hi to my uncle; he told me to tell you he misses you.” Eddie stood up, pulling on his leather jacket. “Later, Harrington.”
Steve watched him go. Watched the silhouette he knew as well as his hands disappear around the corner.
It was over. For real now. Formally.
Steve walked home slowly, drinking tequila from a bottle still wrapped in the paper bag the liquor store had put it in.
He thought maybe he would feel free when it was over, but now he just felt empty.
Time felt stuck since he left that diner.
Steve had been lying there in the wet grass for days, weeks, months maybe, but when he checked his watch, it had only been an hour. It wouldn’t fly; he felt trapped, paralyzed under it.
He wanted to be himself again, to be normal, to be The Hair, Robin’s best friend, Hawkins’ best babysitter, but all he could think of when he tried to name himself was Eddie’s ex. Robin told him he needed to find somebody new, rebound a little, but how could he find someone when he couldn’t even find him.
He felt stuck, captive, to those months, leather and weed days and nights that he’d belonged to Eddie, that he’d had something that was his own.
“Harrington household.”
“Hey.”
Steve’s entire body seized. He grabbed the edge of the counter to steady himself. He hadn’t expected anyone on the other end of the phone- people had been pranking a lot lately- and he certainly hadn’t been expecting that voice.
“Hi.” He choked out.
This was it maybe. It had been a few weeks, they were miserable. This was Eddie calling him to tell him they should try again, they should get back together, they should do anything, but most of all, stop ignoring each other.
“Dustin left his Walkie-Talkie at my house last night. I don’t have to time to take it all the way up to his house so can I just leave it at yours and he can come bike over and get it?”
Steve’s shoulders dropped. He swallowed hard, to force the disappointment from his throat. “Uh, yeah. Yeah, that’s fine.”
Eddie hung up. No goodbye, no “I miss you,” no “How are you doing?” He just... hung up. He was so casually cruel about it, calling him up just to break him like every promise they’d made to each other.
Steve crumpled up on the couch and sobbed.
Once, it had started snowing when they were together.
Eddie had danced through Steve’s backyard, right there on the very grass he laid on right now, the thick white flakes tumbling through his messy black curls, glistening where they landed. That had been the first time Steve hadn’t hated barren, cold, winter Indiana.
Because it looked beautiful on Eddie.
Steve got off the grass.
He stood up, went back into his house like a normal person. He knew he was about to go do the thing he’d promised himself he wasn’t going to do, but this felt like an emergency. This was the worst day he’d had in a long time.
He went up to his room, and silently changed his sweatshirt to a dry one. Kneeled next to the dresser, slowly pulled open the bottom drawer.
There it was. Crisp and neatly folded.
Steve brushed over the denim tentatively, trying to talk himself out of it. It wasn’t worth it. This was four steps back from one step forward.
He did it anyway.
He pulled out the battle vest, still thick with the smell of Eddie. Steve had never washed it; there were blood stains splashed across it from the first fight with Vecna. He couldn’t tell what of it was his and what of it was Eddie’s, which he recognized very well the irony of. They were so stupid and innocent when it had all started. Things were so different.
He should’ve gotten rid of it, should’ve dropped it off with the rest of Eddie’s clothes. He just couldn’t.
He remembered it all too well.
He pulled it on, left it hanging loosely from his shoulders over his sweatshirt. He looked ridiculous, it felt ridiculous, but he didn’t even care, the weight of it was so secure and safe, he almost instantly felt better.
He laid back against the wall, smoothing his hair off his forehead and leaning his head back. This was the closest thing to a hug he’d gotten in a long time.
Time for another cigarette.
*last angsty part i promise! the last chapter with the resolution is coming tomorrow so don’t panic!
shout out to @maya-custodios-dionach for single handedly funding my confidence for the entire week, you’re a dear, darling <3

Giving something a name is the hallmark of becoming attached, and Steve knew he had a reason to proceed with caution when Billy brought “Miss Whiskers” in off of the street. When he said that he was just going to clean her up, that he’d try to re-home her once she was in better shape.
Every bone in Steve’s body was against the idea when he saw the sickly little kitten for the first time. He’s always considered himself an animal lover, though he’s more partial to dogs than anything else, so that’s not the reason for his wariness.
Steve knows that Billy is a cat person. He also knows that his boyfriend, bless his heart, loves so fiercely and without abandon that sometimes he winds up hurting himself in the process.
So, yes, Steve approaches the situation with a great deal of caution.
The first day is fine. The two men spend the afternoon hovering over the kitten, bathing her and checking for fleas. Cleaning her face and feeding her ever so carefully with a syringe full of goat’s milk, which they learned is a safe substitute for kittens to drink after some research.
Miss Whiskers, aptly named for her long, scraggly whiskers, is clean and cozy on her first night in their apartment.
Deathly thin, but still. She’s purring and Billy looks so happy swaddling her in a fluffy blanket, so Steve is content. He starts to consider how to go about training Whiskers to not scratch the furniture in the future. Thinks about buying a litter box and scheduling for her to get her shots at the vet, just because he can never say no to Billy. Especially not when he gets so excited.
But Billy also has abandonment issues. It occurs to Steve that maybe he should really learn to say no to his boyfriend more often, even when it feels like the wrong thing to do.
The second day is spent in grief.
Something vicious stabs at Steve’s soul when he and Billy are sat on the back porch, looking out at the grass as the wind gently swishes the blades together. Neither of them acknowledge the fresh patch of upturned dirt near the base of the wall at the other end of the yard.
“I’m sorry, Billy,” Steve coos. He reaches around the blond’s shoulders and gently draws him into an embrace. “You gave her a good last day. She got so many pets and kisses that she wouldn’t have gotten without you.”
The blond sniffles. His shoulders shake with it, and his tired eyes are red and still streaming with tears when Steve looks at him.
He’s never seen him cry like this before.
“She didn’t deserve to die,” Billy rasps.
“I know, love.”
“She wasn’t even… here for that long.” Billy squeezes his eyes shut and leans into Steve’s shoulder. “She was so little, Stevie. She didn’t get to enjoy her life at all.”
He tightens his fist in Steve’s shirt, and the brunet wraps him up in a tight hug. Shushes him and rocks him back and forth as the sobs rattle out of him, broken and raspy.
“At least she had someone love her before she moved on, right? I’ve never seen someone fall in love with a kitten so fast.”
That earns a sad laugh.
“Yeah.”
“Whiskers is a lucky girl, if you ask me.” Steve cards his fingers into Billy’s hair. “You would’ve made her the happiest cat who ever lived, baby. Today just wasn’t her day.”
Billy’s breath hitches and he grips Steve tighter. They sit there for a while, just until Billy has calmed down enough to relax his hold and regulate his breathing again.
Steve takes him out for a burger and a milkshake that evening, and smiles when the blond insists on sitting beside him in the booth.
They’re inseparable for the rest of the night. Even after they’ve gone to bed, Billy is tucked into Steve’s chest, arms and legs wrapped around him like a koala. And maybe it’s a lapse in judgment that causes the brunet to have these thoughts, but…
He’s pretty sure they’re going to spend their next night off combing the streets for strays to keep.

Alright I said I’d do it and I fullfilled my promise. He’s another one-shot of Mike realising his feelings while watching someone flirt with Will ;)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone was freaking out. Why was everyone freaking out? What did he miss?
“I can’t believe this” that’s Lucas, and he’s whispering too, clearly trying that the other tables beside them don’t hear their conversation.
“It’s not the first time it happens” El says to him. Also immersed in whatever has caught their attention.
Mike’s confused. He left their table for like a minute just to grab a drink, so what could be happening all of a sudden that made the party this curious? Maybe Will can explain it to him, he’s normally the most unbothered one when it comes to the party’s drama.
He searches for him around the table… Wait. Where’s Will?
“Um, guys…?” no one is listening to him. Everyone is looking in the same direction and Mike’s eyes try to follow the same path. Well, there’s Will, standing next to the counter, probably trying to get himself some ice-cream, and he’s talking to some girl. “What is going on?”
Lucas is nice enough to answer his question, but he’s not even bothering to look away from the scene “Random cute girl is totally flirting with Will.”
“What?!” that came out way too loud, Lucas turns to look at him for a second.
“Don’t yell, they’ll hear you!” he whisper yells at him. Mike covers his mouth with his hand quickly out of reflex.
“Yeah Mike, we only watch and listen on this table, no talking” Max intervenes, clearly living for the situation. She looks at him with a suspicious glint in her eye, like she’s having fun.
“I think I’m allowed to ask, he’s my best friend after all” Mike sits back on his chair next to Dustin, putting his own drink on the table.
“She’s been looking at him from the other side of the room for a while… I caught her staring a couple of times” Dustin informs him. And Mike is left without words for a second. He’s still confused, his brain trying to catch up with the rest. They’re not used to this kind of thing happening to any of them. They’re not popular, everyone is aware, everyone has kind of accepted it. So he’s a little startled at first, was she really flirting or was she just… being mean to Will? Because if so then he’s more than ready to just up and go put a stop to the scene.
He stops for a second, and then his brain starts to work. Starts to make connections.
“El” She looks at him, taking a sip of her milkshake “what do you mean it’s not the first time?”
“Oh yeah, back in California lots of girls tried to get close to him…”
To Will? Girls tried… to get close to Will?
He’s not sure of what face he’s making, because El is now looking at him with the same weird look Max had given him before. Damn it, she really was a bad influence for her. He tries to look at Will and this unknown girl as discreetly as possible.
She’s cute, Lucas is right. Tall, with wavy brown hair, nice smile. Yup, she’s definitely pretty. He focuses on Will now, who’s looking just as awkward and uncomfortable as that one time that girl asked him to dance with her at the Snowball. He’s looking at her with a sort of puzzled expression. Like he’s just as confused as Mike that the pretty girl was talking to him.
Mike’s happy for him, really. Everyone deserves to have someone like them, to feel loved or appreciated. That’s what he learned being with El, even if it hadn’t ended too good for them. They still cherished one another, just not in the same way. They had promised to stay friends forever though, and Mike was more than happy to comply.
“But why?” Lucas is asking, like he doesn’t understand why his friend caught the girl’s attention.
“Are you kidding? Come on Lucas…” Dustin chimes in, sounding a little offended “Will has always been the most popular of the four of us, it’s nothing new.”
“Yeah, I know but still…” Lucas knows? He’s noticed this before? Mike hadn’t noticed. Why hadn’t he noticed that about his best friend?
Max jumps in all of a sudden, sitting back, hand to her chin, like she’s thinking hard, considering. “I see the appeal.”
“You what?” Now Lucas is the offended one. “Excuse me.”
“Sorry but it’s true, Will is really cute.” she crosses her arms now, clearly convinced.
Dustin is nodding along with her, agreeing with what she’s saying “He’s a good guy too, you know? He stayed with me the longest when I came back from the science camp” and that one stings a little bit because Mike remembers quite clearly that he had been the first one to leave. He sinks a little in his seat.
“I mean…” Lucas starts, stops to think for a second “Yeah, I guess I can see it too.” El nods beside him. And then everyone sort of turns to look at him, like they’re waiting for his opinion, that he agrees with them. Mike goes to grab his drink instead, taking a sip, trying to act like he doesn’t notice that everyone is probably expecting him to say something about his best friend being irresistible.
He looks at Will again. Dustin sighs by his side and he suspects that it has something to do with him and it’s not just his friend being jealous of the attention that Will is receiving. Why would he? He already has Suzy.
Right then, he sees Will and the girl saying their goodbyes, Will turning and heading back to their table. Everyone acts like they weren’t looking, creating fake loud conversations with each other. Mike doesn’t. Why would he?
“Who was she?” The question is out before he even really has time to think about asking. He can see Will give him an embarrassed looks before he sits right in front of him.
“I… don’t really know her. She just came up to me to talk I guess.”
“You guess?” Lucas asks, teasing tone on his voice “Come on dude, she was totally interested in you.” Dustin continues to question him.
“Yeah Will, how did it go? Did you give her your number or something?”
“Um, no, she uh… She gave me hers.” And he shows the small note he was clutching in his hand. “I got so nervous I forgot to get my ice-cream.”
“That’s what you’re worried about? The ice-cream?” Will shrugs at them, looking sheepish.
“I just don’t think I will call her, I’m not really interested.”
“Why not?” Mike really needs to start thinking before he blurts out things he doesn’t mean. Will stops for a second, he looks like a fish out of water, uncomfortable, nervous, like he doesn’t really know what to respond to Mike’s very valid question. For a second Mike regrets asking.
“Um… I just don’t think she’s my type.”
“But she was totally hot!” Lucas interjects.
“I guess…” Will does not sound convinced at all. “She was really pretty but I just- don’t think…” He’s struggling to create words, Mike notices “I don’t think it would work out. I’m uh… me?”
Everyone is looking confused now. Dustin, Lucas and Mike open mouthed, eyebrows pulling close together. Max and El haven’t said anything for a while for some reason.
Mike is shocked. What did Will mean by that? Did he think that he wasn’t good enough for that girl? Was that it? Mike is feeling sort of irritated by that, and he lets out an indignant sound.
“Why would you say that, Will? She was practically drooling, dude.”
“Yeah!” Dustin backs him up on this, sounding just as exasperated “She liked you, that’s why she gave you her number, don’t give up before even trying!”
“You should call her, Will.” Lucas continues, his tone a little softer, and Mike is a little touched by all the support given to his best friend. “I think she really did like you, you’re a total catch.”
Will was looking very surprised by this. He was blushing too, clearly taken aback by his friends attempt to give him confidence. And then his expression flipped a little into the uncomfortable look from before.
“Will” and something inside Mike clearly cannot handle seeing his childhood friend like that, so he starts to speak again “You are great. You need to believe it, man. You are the best person ever, you are funny, and-and… and kind. You can create some sick D&D campaigns, you survived the end of the world basically.” He’s counting with his fingers as he enumerates now, like he’s desperately trying to prove a point “You can draw and paint these incredible things, and also you are very…” He stops then. You are very good-looking? Cute? Handsome? What did he almost say just now?
“Um…” he sits back, pretending like he just almost spewed out something he didn’t mean to say “Anyway! My point is…! If you want to you should give her a call!”
The conversation ends there. Max tries to change the subject, for Will’s peace of mind.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
They leave after a while, Max and El on the bus, the boys on their bikes. Lucas and Dustin say goodbye one after the other before taking a detour and driving to their own houses. And now Mike is alone with Will.
They haven’t really talked to each other since Mike’s rambling at the mall. He turns his face a little to the right. Will is riding slightly ahead of him. And Mike can’t stop thinking about it, about the fact that he had almost called Will hot to his face. And not in the matter of fact, objective way Lucas or Dustin had implied it, because if that’s so why did Mike feel like he was running out of breath? Why did his heart beat so fast at the thought of it?
Will had changed a lot. From his position slightly behind him he can see Will’s shirt stretching over his back, his sleeves rolled up his arms, forearms visible, strong and tan. He looks at his profile, his hair wild and moving with the wind, face peaceful now, a healthy pink color on his cheeks and ears. Mikes eyes go down without thinking, shamelessly staring at Will’s butt in front of him.
“Bye, Mike, see you tomorrow.” Will’s voice startles him then, deep and seemingly unaware of Mike’s devilish thoughts. Mike almost falls off his bike, scared that he’d been caught.
“Yeah! see you, Will.” And his friend turns in the next street, leaving him alone.
Mike breathes again. Oh, no.

Symphony of Love chapter two
It was a few weeks later, and Manolo was serving food and drinks to the patrons of the Café Calavera. He sat down some plates of sweet treats, pre-made by Lewis, on the table. “So, that’s six Classy red cookies, and two Red Velvet cake milkshakes. Will that be all for you today?” Manolo asked the couple in front of him, fighting to ignore his envy of their love.
“No, this is everything we want.” The young male skeleton said. He picked up a cookie and fed it to his girlfriend, who giggled and then did the same for him. Manolo walked over and went over to Manny, letting his smile fall.
“They’re so in love it hurts to look at them…” Manolo said softly.
Manny looked at Manolo with a hint of pity in his eyes. “Sorry about that pal… Uh, so… Lewis spent the day with you yesterday, right? What did the two of you do?” Manny asked him to try and change the subject to take Manolo’s mind off of his pain.
Manolo smiled a bit. “Well, he helped me clean up my apartment, dragged him to the store, baked treats for me, and… We cuddled for a bit.” Manolo blushed a bit at the last bit as he remembered yesterday. Manolo rolled his eyes when he heard Jack gasp softly.
“So are you and Lewis-” Before Jack can finish, Manolo interrupted.
“No, we’re not dating. We just… Enjoyed some shared time together.” Manolo defented.
“Sounds like a date to me~” Jack sing-songed. Manolo rolled his eyes a bit.
“It wasn’t a date. Besides, why would he even want to date me? He’s so… Sweet, and adorable. He deserves someone full of love… Not me.” Manolo said, his voice becoming sadder and quieter as he spoke. He lightly hugged himself, knowing he had gained some trust issues and a bit of a temper after being murdered by the one he once loved with all his heart. Manny and Jack looked at each other, silently talking to each other about how to help Manolo.
“Manolo, I… Understand your heart still hurts from what Maria did to you, but… Maybe Lewis can help with that. Having a bit of a temper and some trust problems doesn’t make you a bad person.” Jack patted his shoulder, causing the younger skeleton to sigh.
“If you say so Jack…” Manolo muttered softly. He remembered when he first came to the land of the dead, how he would drink, cry, and then fight with random people.
Manolo hiccuped softly as he took another swig of the whole bottle of tequila. He slammed it down on the table and sobbed. “She killed me! I gave that woman years of my life, I tried so hard! I-I was even gonna FORGIVE her for cheating on me! B-but she just killed me!” He began to sob again, when he felt someone touch his shoulder. He turned around and decked him in the face. “Don’t touch me!”
He sighed and rubbed his face to shake off the drunken memory of starting a bar fight here… Again. He sighed and watched Lewis go around taking orders with a warm smile in his eyes. Manolo developed a soft smile as he watched him.
Lewis saw him watching him. He turned to Manolo and waved a bit. He then got back to work, walking over to a dirty table and cleaning it. Manolo watched him with a soft blush, watching as he bent over to better reach the other side of the table. Manolo licked his boney lips as he stared at Lewis’s shapely ass. “His figure is great! Nice wide hips, broad shoulders and chest, strong body… Not to mention is sweet, gentle, but no bullshit taking personality, I can’t help but wonder what he would be like in bed under someone…” Manolo chuckled softly as he imagined it.
“Well Manolo, I sure boner what you’re thinking about! Yohohoho!~” Brook punned softly as he stared at Manolo, who glanced down and blushed brightly at the sight of his own hard-on.
“I’m going on break…” Manolo walked away to the break room, and shut and locked the door behind himself. “Why here, of all times?! Ok, just, calm down… Ice, I need ice.” Manolo walked over to the fridge, opened it, and took some ice. He stuffed it in his pants. “GAH!!” Manolo waited for a while, and felt his boner die. He took out what ice hadn’t melted, and put it in the sink. He sighed, took off his pants and boxers, and stuffed them in the dryer. He turned it on and waited for a while. He picked up his guitar to both hide his shame and entertain himself. He hummed along as he strummed a few random melodies as they popped into his head until his pants and boxers were dry. After about fifteen minutes, he pulled them out and put them back on. He sighed and rubbed the back of his head. “I won’t live that down for a while…” He looked at the time and saw it was about time for his afternoon show. He sighed, and grabbed his guitar. He left the break room and went to the stage. He sat down on his stool with his guitar, and looked out at all the people in the room and smiled. He began to play a soft love song, and smiled at everyone.
Wise men say only fools rush in But I can't help falling in love with you
Manolo looked over at Lewis and saw him watching, blushing softly at the light shining in his glowing pink eyes.
Oh, shall I stay? Would it be a sin Oh, if I can't help falling in love with you?
Memories of the day before flashed in Manolo’s mind, making him smile a bit as he thought of Lewis.
Like a river flows Surely to the sea Darling, so it goes Some things are meant to be He looked over at the young couple he served not too long ago. He watched as they held each other in a love filled embrace and he looked down at his guitar.
Take my hand, take my whole life too Oh, for I can't help falling in love with you
A memory of Maria standing over him with a knife, the pain he felt in that moment, hit his heart… But then another memory flashes before his mind's eye, and he sees an image of Lewis in a cute and frilly pink apron stirring up some brownie mix.
Oh, like a river flows Surely to the sea Darling, so it goes Some things are meant to be
Manolo blushes a bit more when it dawns on him that he’s definitely having deeper feelings for Lewis than just friendship, and can’t help the smile that lands on his face at the idea.
Oh, take my hand, take my whole life too For I can't help falling in love with you Oh, ooh, oh, for I, I can't help falling in love with you
Sadness hits his heart as he realizes Lewis likely doesn’t feel the same and probably still loves Vivi, and sighs as he finishes the song. He stands up and smiles at the crowd. “¡Muchos gracias! Esta canción fue para todos los amantes que veo aquí esta noche, ¡espero que se sientan felices el uno con el otro por toda la eternidad!” Manolo got off stage with a sad smile.
“Manolo, that was amazing! You always sing so great!” Lewis praised him, a warm smile shining brightly in his glowing pink eyes.
Manolo smiled softly at Lewis. “Thank you Lewis… I’m sure you sing well too.” He said softly, causing Lewis to blush softly.
“I guess, but… Well, I only sing for special people…” Lewis said softly, looking away from Manolo. He shook his head softly. “Come on, let me make you something.” He led Manolo to a table and sat him down. He left, and came back with a plate of cookie sandwiches. He put it down in front of Manolo. “They’re the same cookies I made yesterday.” He then put down an ice cold soda. Lewis smiled at Manolo with his eyes, and then walked away.
Manolo watched him leave and smiled. “Yeah, I’m definitely in love again…” He muttered softly as he watched Lewis attend another table.
“Are you sure you’re in love with him?” Someone asked him, Manolo turned around and chuckled, seeing that it was Joaquin.
“Yes, I’m sure. He’s… Different. What I feel for him from what I felt with Maria is different. With Maria, it was hot and burning, but with Lewis, it’s… Warm, but passionate. He’s… Precious, to me.” Manolo explained to his oldest friend, watching as he took a cookie from the plate.
“Well, he’s hot. You should make a move before someone else does.” Joaquin warned him. He rolled his eyes good naturedly when Manolo shot him a light glare.
“I doubt it, something tells me Lewis doesn’t give his heart, let alone his body, to anyone easily… Also, I can’t just ‘Make a move’ on him, as you said… I have to earn it, make sure he feels completely safe around me, and ask him gently. I don’t wanna speed things along like I did with Maria…” Manolo explained softly as he watched Lewis clean up another table whose tenets left.
Joaquin nodded in understanding. “Yeah, take it slow, but not too slow or else he might lose interest in you, assuming he has any… Maybe take him somewhere nice to hang out? You know, like a date, but not exactly.”
Manolo hummed softly. “Maybe… But what if he thinks it’s a date and he leaves?”
Joaquin shrugged as he munched on a cookie. “Beg him to stay?” He said through a mouth full of cookies, making Manolo sigh.
“That’s… Alright, I’ll give it a try.” Manolo stopped himself from being rude. He took a cookie and began to eat it quietly. He looked around, and saw people talking, eating, and drinking with smiles. It made him smile softly at the sight of all the joy. He continued to eat his cookie, when Lewis placed a cup near Joaquin.
“Hello again! I’ve seen you around here a lot, but I don’t think I’ve ever gotten your name. May I know what it is?” Lewis asked him gently.
Joaquin smirked. “My name is Joaquin, but you can call me the man of your dreams~” He shot Lewis a wink.
Lewis laughed softly. “Well Joaquin, you’re quite forward, but… I don’t think you’re quite the person I dream of…” He poured Joaquin some water. “Manolo, do you need a refill of anything?” Lewis asked Manolo softly, a barely noticeable blush dusting his cheekbones.
Manolo stopped glaring at Joaquin to turn his attention to Lewis. “No thank you.” He smiled at Lewis warmly, a few loose strands of his hair framing his boney face.
Lewis smiled gently at him with his eyes. “That’s good. Call me over if you need anything.” He walked away, letting his hips sway a bit more than usual.
Manolo watched Lewis walk away until he heard Joaquin chuckle. “Manolo, he likes you. He would have at least blushed when I flirted with him.” He said as he took a sip of water.
Manolo shook his head. “No, he… Was most likely referring to the woman he loves, Vivi. He's still in love with her from what I know…” He said softly as he watched Lewis serve another couple.
Joaquin chuckled. “If you think so…” He ate another cookie, and then got up. “I’m going over to the bar to drink, see you later.” Joaquin walked away and sat down at the bar.
Manolo looked at him and sighed softly, glad his friendship lasted as long as it has. He felt guilt eat at his heart as he remembered how he used to hook up with Joaquin, only to break it off when Joaquin wanted something more…
Manolo was holding Joaquin closely in his arms, humming softly in the warmth of the afterglow. “...Hey, Manolo?” Joaquin softly softly, causing Manolo to open his eyes and smile warmly at him.
“Yes, Joaquin?” He gently ran his hand through Joaquin’s hair to soothe him.
“I… I want to be more than this. I want to go on dates and stuff, like a real couple…” Joaquin confessed softly as he blushed.
Manolo sat up in the bed, and looked down at Joaquin. “I… I’m sorry, but… I don’t feel that way about you Joaquin, you’re important to me, but… I don’t feel any romantic feelings towards you…” He gently reminded him. Joaquin sighed and turned away from him.
“...Get out of my apartment.” He ordered Manolo softly, trying to fight back his tears.
Manolo gently kissed his cheek. “Come on, we should try and talk about thi-” He was cut off when he was slapped hard by Joaquin. He looked down at his friend in shock.
“I SAID GET OUT!!” Joaquin shouted at him, his orange eyes filled with unshed tears. Manolo scoffed.
“Fine, I’ll get out. But understand this, we are no longer doing this. No more hookups, no more quickes when we hangout, and no more making out when one of us feels frisky. Call me later…” Manolo got out of the bed and put on his clothes, he stormed out of the apartment, slamming the door shut in his rage, ignoring the brokenhearted sobs…
He sighed and rubbed his cheek, remembering how he ignored Joaquin crying. He shook himself out of the more painful memories, and went back to his plate of cookies and ate them quietly. He munched on them as he thought about places to take Lewis. “He likes baking, right? Maybe an old fashioned bakery with me paying for everything would be nice… And maybe walking over to that park he sometimes goes to… Wait, what about taking him on a picnic? No, that definitely sounds way too much like a date… Yeah, just going to the bakery and then the park should be enough…” His thoughts were interrupted by a commotion. He turned his head in confusion.
Lewis had punched someone. The skeleton on the ground was a few inches shorter than Manolo himself, had small green irises, his bones were completely white, and like some of them, had a mouth that had teeth inside. He had shaggy brown hair that was greasy, and was wearing a light tan hoodie with jeans. “Don’t grab my ass!” Lewis shouted at him. The guy groaned and sat up.
“Fuck man, maybe you shouldn’t have gotten a  butt job if you didn’t want to be grobed! Plastic ass bitch…” The skeleton grumbled as Lewis crossed his arms and rolled his eyes.
“I’m not plastic. Everything on my body is completely natural. Now I suggest you get out of here before I beat the crap out of you.” Lewis told him coldly. He pointed at the door as he glared at him. The skeleton walked out the door, passing by Manolo.
“What a fucking bitch…” Manolo reached his leg out and tripped him when he heard what he said. He stood up and glared down at him.
“Would you like to say that again?” He asked him, his orange eyes glowing in a menacing way.
“N-no! I-I’m sorry man!” The green eyed skeleton said as he rattled with fear. Manolo rolled his eyes and pointed to the door.
“If I ever see you in here again, I’m going to hurt you. Now go.” He commanded, and couldn’t help the chuckle as he watched him run out the door like a scared cat. Manolo sat down and went back to eating his cookies. He watched as everything went back to normal, and it made him smile a bit. He leaned back in his chair, and ate his cookies in peace, his drink being refilled by Lewis every now and again. Manolo soon finished his treats and drink, and took it all to the kitchen. He hummed softly as he washed the dishes, taking care to make sure each dish was cleaned properly. He smiled as one of the deadbeats floated over to him. He chuckled as the little thing perched on his head.
“Well hello there, enjoying the view?” Manolo asked the small ghost-like creature.
“Purr” Came the soft reply as he felt it nuzzle into his hair. Manolo chuckled softly. He fed the little thing a tiny treat with a warm smile. “You sure are cute…”
Manolo continued to clean dishes, and once down, dried them, and put them away. He then went back out, and began to take orders. As he fell into the motions, he lost track of time, and soon, it was time to close. Manolo hung up his apron and picked up his guitar. He looked at Lewis and chuckled. “Do you wear anything other than suits?” He asked him softly with mirth in his eyes.
Lewis nodded. “I do, actually… I could wear another outfit I have tomorrow if you wanna see it?” Lewis offered him gently.
Manolo blushed a bit and nodded. “Actually, yeah, it would be nice to see you in something a little more casual.”
Lewis smiled at him with his eyes. “Alright, something other than a suit is what I’ll wear tomorrow.” Lewis walked over to the front door, and held it open for Manolo. Manolo walked through with a smile. Lewis closed and locked the door, and then they both walked down the path that takes them out of the strange land that Manny made a long time ago. “Do you know how Manny connected whatever this place is to all other planes of well… Death?” Lewis asked Manolo softly, knowing very well Manny would never give him a straight answer.
Manolo hummed softly and shrugged. “All I know for sure is that Manny is pretty much a reaper and has a lot of power. That’s pretty much it.” Manolo explained. They soon arrived at a fork in the road, one path covered in marigolds leading to the land of the remembered, and another path that was of a gray mist with dead ground under it. Manolo turned to Lewis with a smile. “Well, we part ways here. Um… Say, this weekend, on our days off, if you’re not busy… I know this nice bakery, and I was wondering if maybe you want to go with me? Everything is on me, of course.” Manolo asked Lewis softly.
Lewis blushed a bit and smiled with his eyes. “I would love to go! I’ll make sure to wear something nice for it.” He hugged Manolo, something they started doing when Lewis first came to this realm. “See you tomorrow.” He pulled away and walked down the path that leads to his home.
Manolo sighed and walked down the path of marigolds quietly, hoping that the weekend comes soon.

This is what it's like to be a patient on a mental health ward on a mental health awareness day.
To put it in just one word it's horrible.
The Facebook links, the Instagram links and numbers that all get posted, they are great, they provide and promote awareness but what happens when you're one of those people who are too far gone for those numbers to help anymore.
What happens when you are the one that is alone in a locked room on a locked Ward in a locked hospital away from your friends, away from your family.
I have visitors and they are the only highlight of my day. Imagine the only other highlight of your day is the interactions with the staff who are charged to look after you and check on your every move every 5-minutes. The only other thing being little tubs of medication that come round 4 times a day, that's not a life it's just an existence.
Sometimes I don't feel sick enough to be in the hospital, I feel unworthy, I feel that other people deserve to be here on this ward more than I do. And then the acceptance comes that I have problems that I need help with, they can't be treated at home and only then do I realise why I really am here. That realisation is heartbreaking.
Writing this right now I am waiting for my evening medication to come around to give me the green light that now is time to go to sleep. Some may like the idea of having these pills that make you drift to sleep. I can't tell you how wrong that is. There's nothing fun about the nightmares, the cold sweats, the drowsiness, the whole feeling of not even being a person anymore.
That's what these hospitals feel like, an enemy trying to strip you of your personality. You're not a person anymore I am just the girl in bed one. But that's not who I am, I am someone, and although it doesn't always feel like it, I am worthy.
My bedroom has bars on the window, my door has a window in it so people can see in, there's no privacy here. We're just simply not trusted with anything, my bed sheets tear apart with the lightest touches, and I don't have a proper bathroom door.
I struggle with eating that means I love of a fluid diet, fancy milkshakes I guess you could call them. These are the same milkshakes I gave to my nan when she was dying and could no longer eat food. And I guess in some respects it feels like I'm dying here too. Even if I were to eat it, it will be off plastic plates, plastic cutlery and drinking from polystyrene cups.
Each day I am here, the less I feel me. Institutionalised I think the word is.
I don't know why I'm writing this, maybe just seeing all the post today and made me think of things differently. What if I was in a position where those support numbers could have helped, how different my life would be.
I doubt that anyone will ever see this or read this, but if you need help know that help is available.
For me it is too late, so I sit on my hospital mattress waiting for those sleeping pills to kick in before they take away any thoughts I might have for the night.
I never thought I would write anything like this, I never really thought I had feelings about any of this. But I guess I look at world Mental Health Day from a different perspective being someone who is already in the system. It's the side of this day that most won't think about. I see those posts on social media and wish, wish that the day could help me in some way, it could fix me in some way. But all those hopes are exactly what I say they are just hopes.
And as I finish this now the drugs have kicked in, the lights have been turned off and with that I shall leave it here.
