Want to know how I know Frozen 3 will most definitely not be great? The announcement of a Frozen 4.

The problem with Frozen 2 was that it had many, many ideas and they attempted, and utterly failed, to condense them into one singular linear story; the problem with Frozen 3 is that they "have so many ideas" that they realized they can't realistically condense them into one singular movie so their solution to "not repeat a frozen 2" is to instead push for ALL ideas to move forward which in turn has given them an overly lengthy cut.

Watching Frozen 1 in cinemas for the first time in a long while really reminded me how Frozen worked because it was very very simple and most of its heart was in the two "main" characters and how they navigated through life after a horrendous situation they were put through.

The heart of Frozen is not all the mystical and mythical elements that they can't get enough of attempting to push, hell, the most compelling part of Elsa as a character was just how raw and human she felt DESPITE having otherworldly powers.

I truly don't know which road they're taking the franchise through, but if the podcast and the books that have come out are anything to go by, it's straying way too far from what made the first movie compelling and enjoyable: its freaking simplicity.

Ok so in episode three of Arcane, right after Vi slaps Powder and is holding her face, the subtitles say that Powder says "Violet, please."

However, if you listen closely, it doesn't sound like she's saying Violet. In fact, if you listen close enough, it sounds a hell of a lot like she's saying mom.

If Powder does, in fact, say mom, that has two implications: one, she sees Vi as a mother figure (which would actually make a lot of sense), or two, something about the situation, maybe even Vi hitting her, reminded her of their mom.

I'm not sure which would be sadder.

Rewatched Arcane recently and I appreciated Sevika a lot more, she's so badass. Big love for Viktor, I wonder if his character was named after Victor Frankenstein perhaps? He's certainly more likeable than Frankenstein.

Forgot how annoying Jayce is for like 99% of the show.

I'm on record as having mixed feelings about Trigun 98 (and BOY HOWDY do I plan to get into that for the Tumblr rewatch) because when it's bad it's REALLY BAD but also when it's good it's REALLY GOOD.

And an example of the latter that's been chewing on my gray matter is this screenshot here. I forget which post I saw recently with this image, but it got my fucking Gay Little Gender Brain going. Here is Vash filling the masculine role of the action hero with his impossible marksmanship, and yet in this closeup we can still see his long eyelashes.

I think Vash's Girly Anime Eyelashes is something else I've mentioned before but not talked much about, but to me it's an important element of his visual design! It hints at how he's a softer kind of character, how even if he must perform violence he seeks to do as little harm as possible. It's about how his character can contain both masculine and feminine elements and those can coexist in one person. The bodily autonomy/exploitation themes of the story of which Vash sits at an interesting intersection.

When I first watched Trigun I hadn't realized I was nonbinary yet, and I had by the time Stampede came out. Stampede Vash gave me all kinds of gender envy which I hadn't really experienced before. (Except for Vi on Arcane but that may also be because I'm a dumb lesbian and she is exactly My Type.)

I don't have any kind of conclusion for this, except for I Want The Plant Gender.

Favorite Color: I really love the turquoise shade of blue and pretty much every color the sky turns, pale pink is also a really nice one

Last Book: System Collapse! That one was sort of funny in that it was a christmas gift for my dad but I delivered it a few days late so I could finish it first lol (he owns all the other books and lent them to me when I first read 'em)

Last TV Show: like i mentioned still rewatching Arcane haha, other than that really enjoying the new episodes of Dungeon Meshi as they come out! My sister also got me to watch some episodes of severance over the holidays so that was fun

Current Obsession: i mean ongoing obsessions are rather unchanged from the usual haha, still lots of fma and kirby stuff rattling around in my head, I also have some elden ring doodles I keep meaning to get back to. In terms of Really recent obsessions as of the past couple weeks have enjoyed diving into league of legend's lore lol, every time they release a cinematic i get curious and start dipping in and every time i'm Shocked how much stuff they have (though that might soon run out given how riot just laid off a lot of their creative team h a)

1. legend of korra, to this DAY! to this day. what a show. amazing world building, development of technology, the place of the avatar waning… i was delectable! korra remains one of my favourite characters.

2. black sails, which, yeah. pirate show of all time. “treasure island prequel mixed with golden age of piracy” is an insane concept to pull off.

3. arcane, HELLO it was so good, animation and characters went so hard and it just slapped. is there anything so undoing as a daughter. yeah.

4. severance, watched recently and mmmm it’s just compelling. i’ve thought about it every week since we finished.

5. yellowjackets, we all know why this is here (milfanie lynskey)

6. kings, which i watched a full decade after it was aired and cancelled and was devastated even then. i just know if i rewatched it the woman i am today, jack/david wouldn’t even get a look in compared to david/s—[i am taken out by snipers]

7. leverage, very good show, obviously i was there for parker/hardison/eliot who were everything to me in 2017.

8. super— no i’m just kidding. imagine. probably the borgias. stupidly huge budgeted show rife with historical inaccuracies but to this day i’m still like wow they made CHOICES in the pilot and committed until cancellation. got to respect it and i love pretty historical dresses and family drama.

last song: Sweet Bod by Lemon Demon! i was listening to the playlist i made for one of my dnd characters (shoutout to mel, the sorcerer ever) and sweet bod was actually the main inspiration for her as a character (she was mummified in honey for abt 100 years and then she came back to life)! but yeah i rlly like making and then listening to character playlists for my oc's (mostly ttrpg characters, but b'rsh bran the kitty ever gets to have 3 playlists)

currently reading: i am veeeeery slowly reading house of leaves, i rlly like it so far, its just that for me sitting down to read a book is kind of a commitment so i dont rlly read as often as i'd like to

currently watching: me and one of my housemates have been rewatching arcane, and before that she got me to watch the dragon prince! dragon prince was rlly fun and sweet, and i love cool fantasy stories :3

current obsession: i'm currently in 2 dnd campaigns with some friends (and i'm preparing to run my own!) and whenever i make oc's for anything i end up thinkin rlly hard abt them (shoutout to b'rsh bran the kitty ever, mel the flynn rider/jesus mashup the world wasn't ready for, and isadora who is just. so sad all the time.)

im also a HUGE fan of the magnus archives, i've been relistening to it at work recently and i managed to get several of my friends to start listening to it >:) i love it so much its such a cool setting and the characters are so neat and cool and i think abt it pretty much constantly

OH AND I REALLY LIKE SIGNALIS. PLEASE TALK TO ME ABOUT SIGNALIS. I AM SO NORMAL ABOUT SIGNALIS ITS THE GAME EVER I DONT EVEN USUALLY LIKE PLAYING SURVIVAL HORROR BUT THAT GAME DID SOMETHING TO MY BRAIN THAT I CANT EVEN COMPREHEND.

also of course i am always thinking abt ffxiv and b'rsh bran, the kitty ever :3 (i love her so much and shes so cool and silly and just. the kitty ever!) also my friends who play ffxiv all have rlly neat wols so i think abt their wols too :)
