Every day I wake up and remember that the Disc is populated by a set of fascinating, nuanced and ultimately human* characters. And I smile.

(*NOTE: please insert as appropriate: vampiric, dwarvish, Nobby Nobbs, definitely not a monkey AAAH, etc. etc.)

Each character just feels real!! Like an actual person you could meet!! Even when they’re a background character you’ll never see again. Even if they only show up once.

The disc is so full of life, and that’s so so wonderful.

I was having a conversation with a friend (my poor friends are consistent victims of my discworld propaganda drive) about how much I liked Angua and they were like oh!! Is she your favourite character!? And I had to very awkwardly be like, oh no, actually there are like six other characters that I’m somehow *more* insane about.

And it just got me thinking about how well done every single character is. Even the characters that show up in only one book are just awesome! The villains are brilliant!! And as the series progresses you see such a genuine effort to portray people well.

There are So So many Discworld characters that I love, and that’s such a testament to how talented Terry Pratchett was as a writer.

Just,, man, I love all those little guys so much. I’m so glad this exists.

the rage I feel when reading Blood of Olympus chapters 45-56 is almost equivalent in magnitude to the absolute joy I experience when reading The Last Olympian chapters 1-23.

remember when percabeth was good? when they meant the world to each other but had other people they cared about (nico, for one. both of them. so much), other worries and other storylines aside from their romantic plot? and when nico's completed arc wasn't repeated for no reason other than to dump more trauma on the youngest character in the series? when background characters were included in the story not for all the unnecessary last minute romantic subplots but because they were fun and fascinating to learn more about? and were actually friends with main characters? remember when grover was percy and annabeth's best friend forever? and antagonists were actually interesting and intimidating and had compelling goals? and the story revolved around friendship and family and loyalty? and death was definite and loss was palpable and battles were thrilling?

shout-out to the makers of NBC Hannibal for (clearly) reading all four books about Hannibal Lecter by Thomas Harris and going "hmm. actually we will make the gayest possible version of this" going on to COMPLETELY disregard the other main character and (canon) ?love interest? of the series and never even MENTION Clarice Starling. While i work I've been listening to an LP of the Telltale Walking Dead Games (the ones with clementine, I do not care about the others lmao). Ages ago when I played these I was well aware/amused that part of season 2 takes place in Parker's Crossroads/Parker's Run because I grew up right next to it and the detail stood out to me. But I never caught the line of "We'll head to parker's run. It's just up the road from here" until just right now. So I had a sort of "wait, where the fuck are they supposed to be right now?" (search)

ARE YOU SHITTING ME LMAO So by process of elimination, since it's the only city with anything even remotely resembling a large home supply store, that would mean they're in my literal hometown. My tiny hometown in the middle of nowhere that's never in anything that barely anyone knows of. How in the fuck lmao
