A newsletter has a regular feature going down the list of Notable Sandwiches on Wikipedia. This week's is the hot dog. The writer emailed 30 professors. What a fun feature overall! I haven't reviewed the entirety of the Hot Dog Document yet, but I feel like now I want to do a bunch of back reading, too. I like reading about sandwiches, even if I'm fairly picky when it comes to them myself.

I will say, and perhaps this is populist of me or perhaps it's even more ivory tower than the academics, but as we all know I have a longstanding solution to all of this "is a hot dog a sandwich" nonsense, which is this:

"Sandwich" is not a noun. It is an adjective.

I don't mean that literally, like I haven't found some weird archaic dictionary that tells us so, but "sandwich" as a word is not used as a noun but rather as a descriptor of a thing, ergo, adjective. An object is a sandwich if you must apply "sandwich" to the end of the noun in order to properly identify it. It's like how many different kinds of dogs can be "brindle" but that is not a breed of dog and doesn't stand on its own as a classification.

Now, I have no objection to anyone saying "a hot dog sandwich" because that's simply a redundancy and if they wish to, that's their prerogative; it sounds fun and old timey, like saying "a hamburger steak". But we need not classify a hot dog as a sandwich simply because you don't need to say "hot dog sandwich" for the person you're speaking with in order to make yourself understood. Much as you would not generally say "Italian beef sandwich" even when speaking to someone who might not know what an italian beef is. You say "an italian beef" and then elucidate.

There is a possible exception to the rule, which is the Grilled Cheese Sandwich, commonly referred to as simply a Grilled Cheese despite taking a very sandwich-like form, but there are three arguments one can make regarding this:

It SHOULD be called a Grilled Cheese Sandwich to distinguish it from Halloumi

It is technically a "melt" which like a hamburger is distinct from a sandwich (ie, a Tuna Melt or Patty Melt) in the classification of "sandwich-like objects that need not be called a sandwich"

The grilled cheese is the exception that proves the rule and this is right and just, because grilled cheese sandwiches are the best and should be considered special.

I would love to know what the most popular horker dishes in Tamriel are!

Horker is mostly native to the northern parts of Tamriel, where they thrive in the cold sea waters. As such, today I'll concern myself with native horker dishes.

Nords are probably the biggest consumer of horker in Tamriel, and it is a staple meat across most of the Province of Skyrim, even making it into the diets of inland Markarth, Whiterun, and Falkreath. Most traditionally, horker meat is liberally salted and sometimes dotted with juniper berries and herbs, before being hung to cure. Nord horker ham and bacon are extremely common (even moreso than pork bacon), whether it's in slices, served with cheese and bread, or diced and fried with scrambled eggs.

Other popular ways of cooking horker in Skyrim include basted in honey-based barbecue sauce and slow-roasted, sliced thinly and grilled over coals, or braised in ale with potatoes and root vegetables. While some say that horker has a distinctly fishy taste (like a cow gave birth to a tuna, as Brynjolf likes to say), it's quite bearable if it's cooked right.

Meanwhile, don't forget the Orcs of Wrothgar. While most of them prefer echatere to horker, it's an easy source of food as they dot the coast in great numbers. Fried blubber cubes with potato dumplings are one of the region's most popular specialities, while horker steaks with horseradish sauce is another favourite. Horker pie, horker meatcakes, and horker schnitzel are also a good way to go, served with an array of dipping sauces (most of them spicy).

Finally, there's Solstheim, a Dunmeri outpost with a Nord twist. The cuisine of Raven Rock is wholly unique in its fusion of the cultures, and you get dishes like Horker and Ash Yam Stew. However, other Dunmeri takes on horker include roast horker belly with steamed saltrice and oyster sauce, horker and hackle-lo stir fry, and canis root herbal soup with gingko nuts and horker meatballs. ~Talviel

You go on a date with Law after forever, and he proposes in a different way.

Minor mistakes

It's been two and half years since you and Trafalgar Law have started dating. You both have grown close enough to love eachother. Your dates were few and far between when you could get time with him. So this was special. You wore a silk black dress with a slit down the right thigh with thin silk straps. You wore stiletto platform shoes in black velvet. You also had boa feathers wrapped around your arms falling off in the middle. Your long (c) hair flowing down your figure.

"Are you ready Trafalgar?" You ponder in your shared bedroom while looking in the mirror at your figure. Finally ready to go.

"Where is he?" You wonder to yourself. You walk into his office only to see noone. So you walk up to the deck. Finally you see his familiar figure.

"Trafalgar dear" your voice reaches him and he turns around suddenly a blush comes to his face. You walk up to him and hook your arm around his. He gives you a kiss on your cheek.

"You look stunning (n) as usual" Law states looking you up and down. You giggle and say

"And you look handsome as always my love" Since there was noone on deck he allowed these advances.

"Ready? Let's go" he says sweetly. As you both are Shambled to the Dressrosa Island after Doflamingo was defeated but months after.

"We could have gone anywhere why here?" You hear Law complain.

"Because they have the best grilled fish and fish. Please just humor me dear" you state as you both walk towards the restaurant district for your reservation. You only had a say on the restaurant, everything else Law took care of. You see happy couples everywhere. As you walk in the door you see the grandness of the restaurant gold accents and deep red for wallpaper.

"Its a good thing I dressed up"

Meanwhile Law was just in his regular attire.

"Good evening sir and ma'am do you have a reservation?" The door man asks politely.

"Its D. Water Law" Law states nonchalantly.

"Ah yes right this way" A waiter appears leading you both still linked at the arms to a table in the back were the lights were candles. Raising both hands to your face you squeel quietly

"How romantic isnt it?"

"All for you. I requested this table especially for you" Law says quietly to you not wanting to attract to much attention. Since he was an ex warlord of the sea some people had turned to look at you both. As you sit he pushes in your chair then goes to sit himself. The waiter waiting for your drinks order with a pen and paper.

"One glass of champagne, and one glass of bubbly cherry for the lady please" you hear Law say to the waiter.

"Yes sir right away" the waiter swiftly walks away.

"What are we celebrating?" You raise an eyebrow. You knew law didnt drink and neither did you since you were allergic.

"You will soon see" Law just states nonchalantly resting Kikoku against the table. You make small chat as the waiter comes back with your order.

"Champagne for the gentleman, bubbly cherry for the lady" he says as he sets the glasses down.

"Are you ready to order?" The waiter asks politely.

"Yes I'll have the grilled fish with lemon" Trafalgar states.

"And I'll have the raw tuna steak" you say politely allready knowing what you want. You see Trafalgar motion the waiter close to him, as he whispers to the waiter then passes him some rolled up berries.

"All right I'll get your orders in shortly sir and ma'am" he tips his hat and the waiter walks off again.

"Now what was that about?" You question him but Law just shakes his head.

"I just want the best service for my dear" he says appeasing your curiosity.

Ten Minutes Later

-☆-

"...And then Bepo gave me a big hug for making him a hat just like yours" you giggle.

"Hn well you've always been crafty" Trafalgar says sweetly.

You suddenly see your waiter coming back with your orders. He sets them down, then double takes making sure he set the right plate for each of you.

"I do hope you enjoy the food" he says then walks away.

You look at your plate. The tuna looks almost as big as the plate. Pirks of dating an ex warlord.

"You are really going all out this time it's nice though love" you say sweetly.

"All for my love. Make sure you chew slowly so it will digest properly. Let's cheers" Law says sweetly as well. Both of you picking up your glasses.

"Cheers too?" You question.

"Cheers to love" Law states then clings his glass to yours.

"Cheers to love" you say quietly as you take a sip of your bubbly cherry. Then you both take a fork and knife and start eating. You decided since the tuna was so big to cut on the right slowly eating. After noticing Trafalgars gaze occasionally on you you ask

"How is it dear?"

"It is wonderful actually I understand why you wanted to come here" he states calmly. You both continue to eat and eventually you make your way to the middle of the tuna cutting a square out of the center you put it in your mouth. You realize something hard in it so you suck off the tuna and pull out the hard bone. To reveal

"This isnt a bone" you say as Trafalgar takes it wipes it off and gets up. Goes over to you and kneels down holding up a ring catching the attention of many people around your immediate area.

"(N) D. will you marry me" Trafalgar asks you as you stare into his beautiful grey eyes. You put both hands up to your mouth blushing cherry red.

"Yes of course Trafalgar I would love that" you hear him sigh in relief then slides the ring on your finger with the eavesdroppers clapping. Quickly he sits back down.

"I was nervous I'm so glad you said yes" he says quietly.

"Well why would I say no?" You question.

"We barely talked about it" he states.

"Your so silly you know that Trafalgar?" You giggle in happiness.

"I love you so much" you say quietly.

"And I love you so much (n)" he replies. After you both finish your meals you ordered dessert. A small cake with a sphere shell of chocolate then the waiter poured hot chocolate onto it to reveal the cake.

"My that was so cool" you state shocked.

"This is a customer favorite ma'am" the waiter says, then when done he walks away.

"Here try some dear" you say taking a small amount holding a hand under your fork leaning over to him. He bites down and the fork slides out of his mouth.

"Its good" he says quietly.

On The Shore

Walking arm in arm he suddenly embraces you in a hug.

"So.. how does it feel soon to be Mrs. Water Law?" He asks then plants his lips on yours, you kiss him back then he deepens the kiss using his tounge to play for dominance. Breaking for air you say

"It feels wonderful my love!" You squeel in happiness. As you say that Trafalgar picks you up and twirls you around then setting you down.

"Awe I've always wanted that to happen howd you know?" You ask him.

"I just felt like it" Law states.

"Room Shambles" your suddenly in your shared bedroom. You see Law go up to the loud speaker that connects to every room.

"She said yes!" You hear Law kindave yell but quietly. You start to hear cheering all over the sub.

"How did you manage all of this without me noticing?" You question him.

"Well I had a lot of help from Bepo, Sachi, And Penguin" he admitted.

"I rolled up the ring in the berries I handed to the waiter" he says. You go up and hug him wrapping your arms around his neck,your platforms allowing you to do so. Kissing his face then nuzzling his cheek.

"Thank you so much hubby" you say in his ear causing him to shiver. Letting go you grab his hand leading him to the bed snapping your fingers.

"Silence" a purple sphere appears around both of you. Motioning him over to the bed for more adventures

Here are a few things I'll eat in a day. I typically don't eat a big breakfast, but I will have a big lunch. Dinners in my family are late, usually 6pm to 8pm, we typically walk after dinner, then I'll drink tea to relax before bed.

You'll probably notice a lack of beef and pork, I have trouble digesting them, so it's mostly chicken and seafood. My family also don't eat a lot of bread, it's treated more like a side than a meal.

And yeah, there's a quite a mix of cultures here. My mom's side is Greek/Egypt with Turkish influences from her great grandfather, my dad is Native American with some adopted local New Mexico flavors. Since I was originally born and raised by the ocean, seafood and sea vegetables are a big thing in my diet. They're hard to find in the southwest, but I crave them and they keep me healthy as I have low blood pressure, so I need a bit of healthy salt.

Apple cider vinegar mixed with honey or a fruit juice, usually pomegranate juice. Gets my digestive system prepped.

Oatmeal with dates, pumpkin seeds, and seasonal fruit.

Fresh fruit or fruit jelly with yogurt. I like Greek yogurt as it's more creamy and filling.

Seaweed soup with green onions or salmon

Kefir a type of strong yogurt drink

Crepe with fruit, pine nuts and honey

Omelet with spinach or dandelion greens

Eggs boiled in black tea and star anise

Shakshuka eggs with tomato and spices

Salmon with fried eggs

Fresh tilapia corn taco

A Flatbread wrap with either chicken or falafel, lettuce, feta, red onion or tomato topped with tzatziki or Tahiti
