My mom used to cut tuna steaks into cubes and sear them in a skillet. It was a common and favorite dinner at our house (served with brown rice and broccoli, because everything was served with brown rice and broccoli).
Tuna steak, if you don’t know, is bright red before cooking.
This is a nice picture of a seared tuna steak.

Anyway.
One day, my mom was just getting the cubes of tuna on the stove and my then-five-year-old youngest sister comes into the kitchen. She takes one look at the pan and says “Boiled watermelon, again? I hate that!”
It’s the “again” that keeps us laughing even now, 25 years later.

And I cooked tuna steak, veggie cakes, and green beans a couple nights ago. Yay for forgetting to post. >_>
I turned the leftover marinade into a sauce and put a little on top of the tuna. The veggie cakes are just salmon cakes with red bell pepper, carrot, and parsley instead of salmon and seasoned a bit differently. The green beans were cooked in some bacon fat and seasoned with Chicago steak seasoning.

Ensure the tuna you purchase is a deep ruby red color rather than brown or gray. Brown indicates aging/oxidation; gray indicates ice damage.
