💜Sampo headcanons
Sooo... I wanted to try to wright something about characters i love so i decided to do 2 in 1 - art plus headcanons fot it
Tumblr media
~Ordinary day in Belobog~
It's just some fluff silly headcanons. Hope you'll love it!
💜 Sampo's morning always starts not with coffee, not with social media, but with checking turnip prices in Animal Crossing.
Seriously. He doesn't worry that much about his own budget, how he keeps an eye on his bank account in the game. Sampo knows the prices for EVERYTHING: bugs, fish, fossils, fruits, etc. He sells it with incredible efficiency, but doesn't pay a single penny to Tom Nook (the merchant simply hates this raccoon, but respects him for how skillfully he can push another loan or charge money for some service).
💜 After finishing all the virtual "megaimportantyoudon’trunderstand" tasks, Sampo puts on his cozy bathrobe, slippers with Hannah Montana (even aeons don't know where he managed to dig up merchandise originally for kids of such size. His foot isn’t small after all...) and goes to bathroom. After fixing his hair, brushing his teeth, and applying a super shiny fancy mask, the merchant goes to the kitchen.
💜 Surprisingly, Sampo cooks well. Especially simple dishes.
💜 During breakfast, he always watches something. Most often it's TV series. God, I'm 100% sure that Sampo loves shows about the double life of pop stars (especially the mentioned above Montana). Romantic melodramas, cosplay videos, game reviews - that's his thing too.
💜 What he can't stand, though, is true crime videos and all sorts of creepypastas. He's really hates all that descriptions of bloody scenes, violence, and worse - rape. Sampo can't even sleep at night after that. Not that he's scared, but he feels bad inside.
💜 Later in the day, between tasks, the merchant likes to sit in some secluded spot in the upper part of Belobog and look around. It's his kind of meditation. Watching the peaceful, monotonous flow of life around him, Sampo gets distracted from his problems.
💜 People walk back and forth in the streets, clouds float in the sky, and a cool breeze blows on his face - that means everything is good, the world hasn't collapsed yet, everything can be fixed. Everything will be fine.
💜 Sampo gets especially cheered up when he sees familiar faces in the crowd. For some reason, I think he really appreciates the crew of the Star Express. And every time he sees Stella/Kelus, March 7, Dan Han, or familiar faces from Belobog, he brightens up. (well, only if it's not Gepard, coming to arrest his poor ass).
💜 At the end of the day, after playing hide-and-seek with Gepard and a couple of other guards, arguing with stubborn clients, and a bunch of other not-so-pleasant work, Sampo comes home completely exhausted. But he remembers the unsold scorpions in Crossing, the episode he missed in the morning, and drags himself first to the bathroom, and then to bed. There's a whole night ahead. Which means there's still time to goof around and dedicate time to little silliness and joys. He can still borrow energy from the next day anyway...
(sorry if there are mistakes. It's first time i'm writing on english😢)

just saw the zone of interest and it is as disturbing as the review. but a part ive barely seen mentioned is the cut to the present of auschwitz when the janitors are cleaning the gas chambers. youve write a lot of posts about it, what do you think of those scenes? to me the critique is that there's something about turning it into a museum - a space of memory but also fossilization - that feels grotesque. particularly with meticulously and dispassionately cleaning out the ovens.
it was made in collaboration with the auschwitz museum so im not sure entirely how much of it is meant as a critique, but thats also possible (glazer also got grants from some pretty pro israel donors to fund the film and then denounced the genocide in gaza in front of them to their dismay, so its possible for there to be a critical aspect of his portrayal of the museum) to me i was seeing it as something expressing the magnitude and historical significance of everything they are talking about in the meeting rooms with other nazis and businessmen. but i think also something mirrored in the similar ways you watch people silently clean, do their jobs, etc. i think also to reiterate the overall message that this isnt just about history its about today. honestly, that scene felt to me to be a bit outside the scope of the film overall, which i otherwise i thought was great.
also if you (general you) are coming to my blog from my post about cnn's review of zone of interest ik i didnt go into exactly why it sucks so heres a better review, really recommend people to watch this movie

Qianlong shouhu Han et al., 2023 (new genus and species)
Tumblr media
(Select bones and schematic skeletals of adult [a] and embryonic [b] individuals of Qianlong shouhu, with preserved bones in gray, from Han et al., 2023)
Meaning of name: Qianlong = Qian [alternative name for Guizhou] dragon [in Chinese]; shouhu = guarding [in Chinese]
Age: Early Jurassic (Sinemurian?)
Where found: Ziliujing Formation, Guizhou, China
How much is known: Three partial skeletons of adult individuals and five clutches of 3–16 eggs containing embryos.
Notes: Qianlong was an early sauropodomorph. It is notable not only for the exceptional preservation of its fossils, but also the fact that these specimens appear to be associated with nests, thus offering valuable information on their growth and reproductive behavior. As has also been found for some early sauropodomorphs, such as Massospondylus from the Early Jurassic of Southern Africa and Mussaurus from the Early Jurassic of Argentina, Qianlong appears to have laid its eggs in breeding colonies with adult individuals potentially watching over their nests. Qianlong was additionally similar to these other early sauropodomorph in being bipedal as an adult, but likely quadrupedal as a young juvenile.
Rigid, hard-shelled eggs have been found in multiple groups of dinosaurs, including tetanuran theropods (such as birds), hadrosaurids (duck-billed dinosaurs), and titanosaurian sauropods, as well as their closest living relatives, the crocodylians. As a result, it was long assumed that all dinosaurs probably laid hard-shelled eggs. However, recent evidence has suggested that the eggs of early dinosaurs may have instead had flexible, leathery shells, more similar to those of most lizards and some turtles, with rigid eggshells evolving several times in later dinosaur groups. The eggshells of Qianlong appear to have been leathery in structure, lending support to this hypothesis.

I was standing in Terminal 4 at JFK far away from the impatient scrum of people waiting near my gate for a Delta agent to announce it was their turn to board. As I watched passengers who’d arrived on other flights step around this pool of people buried in their phones, so desperate to be sitting on the plane instead of standing inside the airport, I thought about a review of William Gibson’s 2012 book of essays called Distrust That Particular Flavor, a book I’ve never read.
In “Distrust That Particular Flavor,” Gibson pulls off a dazzling trick. Instead of predicting the future, he finds the future all around him, mashed up with the past, and reveals our own domain to us as a science-fictional marvel… I glanced up from the pages of this book and surveyed the street-side around me, I felt as if I were wearing Gibson-glasses. Cars lumbered past like ponderous elephants of rusty steel, not so different from the cars of 30 years ago, and seemed not to belong in the same world as the tattooed kid punching code into his laptop nearby. Under the spell of this book, I suddenly understood my surroundings not as a discrete contemporary tableau but as a hodgepodge of 1910, 1980, 2011 and 2020. -Pagan Kennedy, NY Times
I am several steps removed: I was remembering reading a review of a book published 12 years ago that was filled with writing previously published in magazines decades earlier. I could have easily downloaded a digital copy of the book on my phone and started reading the source material, but instead, I searched Google for the most pared-down version of what I wanted to remember from Gibson’s writing, that single quote that encapsulated what I was thinking at that moment:
“The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed.”
The night before my trip, my phone buzzed and the Delta app offered a tantalizing deal: a few thousand miles to move from the 22nd row of the Main Cabin to Delta Comfort+, one row behind First Class, where I knew there was enough room to cross my legs like I’m on a park bench or extend them as if at home sitting in a recliner. I looked at my phone from my bed and moved my left leg. I felt my knee pop. I hit the button and ordered the nicer seat. “The future is now!” I thought as I rolled over, then checked my 2-3 more times that the alarm on my phone was set correctly before finally falling asleep.
I was flying to visit my family in North Carolina, where I would ride from the Charlotte airport to my parents’ house in a fully-electric SUV, stuck the whole way behind gas-powered lowrider motorcycles and one massive Ford that billowed black smoke from silver exhaust pipes sticking up like goalposts on the back of the truck’s cab. All the while, I’d see how developed the suburbs of Charlotte were becoming, whole blocks of houses and high-rises popping up like dandelions, covering what used to be open fields. I’d watch the Uber app on my phone continually update me on the status of the route, reestimating our ETA every few minutes as we sat in traffic. I would spend the ride glancing from my phone to the map on his dashboard, and wonder how we ever survived before GPS. Between the airport and our destination, we made all but 3 turns.
Before any of that happened, though, before any of the thoughts about watching the future blossom all around me while the past angrily revved its fossil-fueled engines up and down I-77, I had to survive the flight from NYC to Charlotte.
As I scanned the bright open space at JFK, I saw a freckled woman my age sitting alone covered in a yellow blanket. She appeared to be on the verge of tears. Since I was about to take my own emotionally taxing trip, one to see my sick father while his pain was still somewhat manageable, I considered asking simply if she was OK. Then I saw her take out her phone to text someone, and suddenly I couldn’t gauge if she was sad or severely hungover. I remembered that airports (outside the Midwest) aren’t for chatting up strangers. She was in her own little world and didn’t need a man’s halfhearted prying. Everyone in the airport was in sweatpants and pretending they were in their living rooms, pretending to be alone on the couch instead of sitting in a wide room with a hundred other miserable tired people. My attention turned to the black toddler in a green shirt stomping on the bright white linoleum and laughing. He was in a better mood than any adult I could see from my vantage point. His mom called him and said it was time to get on the plane.
We idled at the gate for twenty extra minutes after everyone was in their seats. I read a book on my phone and smiled to myself when I realized the plane door was closed, meaning no one else would be joining me in my row, hence the desperate offer from Delta the night before asking if I wanted a seat for much less than the price when I had originally bought the ticket. This was going to be the most comfortable flight I ever took. The only issue was that several people had left their window covers open, and the Sun was starting to heat up the cabin. A child directly behind me complained to her grandma about her discomfort, a baby cried from the back of the plane, and the toddler I had seen earlier, sitting on his mother’s lap three rows back, was wailing. The mother of the toddler was also traveling with her ailing mother who I’d seen pleasantly thanking the Delta staff earlier for bringing her to the plane in a wheelchair. They were both Southern black women wearing beige sweats from head to toe, and until this moment had spent the holding period at the gate pleading with the kid to “come on and be quiet now” and insisting to passengers around her that he usually doesn’t act this way on planes. I heard people around her say “It’s just fine” and “how old?”
A flight attendant, who I’d recently watched serve booze to everyone in First Class (why not, It’s 10:30 AM somewhere), warned over the loudspeaker that the routine demonstration on plane safety was about to begin. I always feel rude for continuing whatever I’m doing while another human being stands in the aisle showing me how not to die. Remembering to keep my seatbelt fastened during turbulence or to put my oxygen mask on before assisting others could save my life, and yet I sit there, fully ignoring the speech even as a member of the flight crew uses the plastic cover directly above my head to demonstrate how the yellow mask will flop down as we’re all screaming and crying and can’t remember our training. The flight attendant held the mask with both hands inches from my face and I kept reading. This dismissive attitude toward the safety speech is all the stranger when I remember that my biggest fear is dying in a plane crash.
I was once on a JetBlue flight that hit some rough air. I distracted myself by watching Marvel’s Iron Man 3 on the back of the seat in front of me (this was before I became a professional flyer and brought my own screens with me). There’s a scene in the movie where Tony Stark’s house is destroyed by a helicopter. Right before Stark successfully shoots down the flying assailant, the movie jumped abruptly to the next scene. JetBlue doesn’t edit anything sexy from in-flight entertainment, but they will cut anything that reminds you of your potential fiery death in a plane crash. When I noticed what had happened, I laughed to myself. How silly to think people would be scared by a Marvel movie. Then I thought, “maybe they cut those scenes because crashing is so common and they want you to forget. Why would they cut the scene if it weren’t an actual event that happens all the time?” I worked myself up over not seeing a plane crash in a movie while I was on a plane. I panicked over the absence of a frightening image. That’s how nervous I get on airplanes.Scary stuff.
We were at the step where the flight attendants walked the entire aisle with one hand sliding against the white plastic covers of the overhead compartments to make sure they were secure when the woman holding her crying toddler walked up to my 75%-empty aisle.
“I think if he had a little more room, he’d be fine,” she said to the flight attendant who already had her hands up defensively. “Can we take these empty seats if no one else is coming?”
“It wouldn’t be fair to the people who paid to upgrade.” The flight attendant shook her head as she spoke.
“Well, can I upgrade?” The woman asked.
Sternly, the flight attendant said: “It’s too late for that.”
The woman turned to go back to her seat, and in a huff said “I’m never fucking flying Delta again. Fuck this shit.” As she sat down in her seat, she claimed loudly “if I were a white woman, they’d give me that seat.”
Her mother sitting in the seat next to her backed her up: “I know that’s right.”
“Excuse me,” I said to the flight attendant, she leaned down, all teeth and painted eyebrows.
“Yes, sir?” she said.
“I’m happy to switch with her if it makes things easier.”
Before she could answer, the white grandma behind me objected “Yeah, nuh uh! - no, thank you!” Without looking in her direction, I put my hand up to block her face from my peripheral vision and thought “Adults are talking.”
I continued: “I understand not giving her a seat, but if I’m fine with it, it’s OK to swap, right?”
The flight attendant, with a smugness that reminded me of my Third Grade teacher, said “We don’t reward bad behavior.”

So there's a French detective show called Astrid & Raphaelle, lovely show, features an autistic protagonist and does her pretty well. They had a dinosaur episode where the victim was a paleontologist and former fossil poacher. Turns out she was working on a paper that would support Ornithoscelida (boo, hiss)...based on one hip bone that wasn't terribly diagnostic. Would anyone here be interested in a fanfic epilogue where Astrid and Raph go back to the museum to follow up on the girl's paper, only to find out that it didn't make it past peer review for poor methodology & clear authorial bias? (This would contain spoilers, of course, so I would recommend watching the show on PBS first before reading it.)
Posting this for my followers bc omg

China: Carmakers Implicated in Uyghur Forced Labor
BYD, GM, Tesla, Toyota, VW Risk Using Tainted Aluminum
Global carmakers, including General Motors, Tesla, BYD, Toyota, and Volkswagen, are failing to minimize the risk of Uyghur forced labor being used in their aluminum supply chains, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today.
The 99-page report, “Asleep at the Wheel: Car Companies’ Complicity in Forced Labor in China,” finds that some carmakers have succumbed to Chinese government pressure to apply weaker human rights and responsible sourcing standards at their Chinese joint ventures than in their global operations, increasing the risk of exposure to forced labor in Xinjiang. Most have done too little to map their aluminum supply chains and identify links to forced labor.
“Car companies simply don’t know the extent of their links to forced labor in Xinjiang in their aluminum supply chains,” said Jim Wormington, senior researcher and advocate for corporate accountability at Human Rights Watch. “Consumers should know their cars might contain materials linked to forced labor or other abuses in Xinjiang.”
The link between Xinjiang, a region in northwestern China, the aluminum industry, and forced labor is the Chinese government-backed labor transfer programs, which coerce Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims into jobs in Xinjiang and other regions.
Human Rights Watch reviewed online Chinese state media articles, company reports, and government statements and found credible evidence that aluminum producers in Xinjiang are participating in labor transfers. Human Rights Watch also uncovered evidence that fossil fuel companies that supply coal to aluminum producers in Xinjiang have received labor transfer workers at their coal mines. Xinjiang’s aluminum smelters depend on the region’s abundant and highly polluting coal supplies to fuel the energy-intensive process of aluminum production.
In 2023, domestic and foreign manufacturers in China produced and exported more cars than any other country. Since 2017, the Chinese government has committed crimes against humanity in Xinjiang, including arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, and cultural and religious persecution, and has subjected Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim communities to forced labor inside and outside Xinjiang.

Happy Weekend all :) Watched this ep last night wrote down my thoughts and thought kick off Saturday with a review. Another really good ep ahead. S2 adds onto the base built in S1 in the best way. Off we go.
2x02 The Night General
Tumblr media
We catch our first glimpse of our fine duo at the end of roll call. Grey has a new book for Tim to read for his Sergeant's exam. Tim doesn’t look excited in the least. Lucy calls out the book for its dated title. Grey explains to Lucy it's from the 60s. Lovely. Tim asks how this book is relevant with 21st century policing? Grey tells him 'Ours is not to reason why' LOL Basically saying he has to read it whether he wants to or not Poor Tim.
Tumblr media
They're not in the shop two seconds before Tim hands her the book to read to him. Of course Lucy is going to give him some push back. She wouldn’t be her if she didn’t. Would you love her Timothy if she was anything but who she is? haha This is how they're going to spend their shift whether Lucy wants to or not.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy suggests just to let her drive so he can read it while they work. That doesn’t fly with Tim baha Lucy doesn’t understand (yet) why he can’t just read it himself. Thinks Tim is just making her do it for him just cause he can. You'll find out soon enough my dear. Lucy knows when to pick her battles at this point. So she decides not to fight Tim on this one. Gives in and cracks this old fossil open and begins to read to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mini marriage scene going on right here. It's their back and forth that I love so much about them. A comfortability has settled between the two of them and it shows. Instantly Lucy is being smug and sassy about the material. One of my fav things she does with him. Pushes his buttons like only she can. Instead of being immediately grumpy he dishes it right back. Oh how they’ve grown. Giving him crap with the book saying he shouldn’t generate fear but respect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim is snarky as well firing back of course she would like this book...We all know she has thrived under his leadership. She's not really taking shots at him so much as using it to mess with him. She can't help herself. Lucy is taking full advantage of this scenario. Tim is painfully aware she is using reading this book to punish him. I mean it's only fair since he's forcing her to read it between calls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love her face in the gif above. She’s enjoying herself far too much for Tim’s liking haha He tells her to just keep reading LOL Like Lucy wasn't going to read this book without running commentary. Come on Timothy you know better than that hehe Lucy continues on and you can see him trying so hard to absorb it as she speaks.
Tumblr media
Lucy ends up on another quote she likes. Of course its about patrol officers having value. So she chooses this one to have him parrot back to her. She is agitating the crap out of him and knows it. Telling him he needs to repeat it in order to memorize it. Using her psych degree to justify it. He begrudgingly does it and she asks him to do it again lmao Lucy is pushing her boundaries today and is fine with it haha
Tumblr media
They get a call interrupting her and Tim is so relieved. Lucy responds to dispatch then says 'Ok 3 min out more reading.' LMAO She is relentless and begins up again. Tim's face above I’m dying. LOL He looks like he’s being endlessly tortured by her studying methods. This episode is absolute gold start to finish. He is at her mercy with this and knows it.
Tumblr media
We rejoin them in the shop after their call. Lucy has moved onto chapter 3. ‘The Healthy Habits Of Command’ She goes on to read out loud ‘Delegation is the key to leading men in times of stress.’ Which leads to the line above. She follows it up with That’s so true don’t you think? Tim snaps back it’s hard enough to listen to this stuff without her editorializing haha Honestly Tim what did you expect from her? She tells him she’s happy to stop anytime and get back to her paper work.
Tumblr media
Lucy goes on to tell him that he’s going to have to re-read all this again anyways to memorize it. You see the panic in Tim’s face. It’s here Lucy finds out he learns best when he’s hears it. That response immediately gets the wheels in Lucy’s head churning with her response of Really? He then asks what? Why? She tells him nothing…. Doesn’t take Tim long to figure out she’s holding something back from him. He says ‘Boot...’
Tumblr media
Lucy tries to mumble her reply at first. Telling him he has a learning difference under her breath. It’s kinda funny how she tries to hide her answer. She knows he’s going to take it the wrong way. Tim makes her speak up and Lucy bites the bullet. Then try’s to soften the blow by saying he’s just wired differently. That he just processes information differently than others. She is digging herself a hole and knows it. Tim is bristly af as she tries explain this to him. He tells her he doesn’t have a learning disability. Flat out refuses to accept it.
Tumblr media
Lucy digs her hole even further when she brings up Isabel. Tim has grown but that continues to be a sore subject for him. Lucy is trying so hard for him not to take this as a bad thing. Minute she brings Isabel up and their time at the academy he shuts down. Tells her they’re not talking about this. Lucy looks crushed she’s offended him. That comfortability and banter from earlier gone. You can see how much she wants to fix it. Unfortunately they get a call before she can rectify the situation. It's about a suspicious mini van casing a house. She tries to fix it as they drive to the call but he is shut off completely. Lucy is defeated and says never mind….
Tumblr media
They pull up and its an old colleague of Tim's. He is a bounty hunter now. Lucy is assertive right off the bat saying they've received multiple 911 calls about him. Rex bites back calling her boot and to watch her tone. Tim steps in right away. No one calls her ‘boot’ but Tim good sir. So sexy when he tells Rex she’s the police now. Even though he’s grumpy about the studying he still has her back on this 100%. Such growth Tim. I love me some protective/supportive Tim. Lucy doesn't let Rex's behavior shake her. Lets this surly grump of a man know that. It’s like she has experience with them or something heh
Tumblr media
Tim's face when Rex says 'You let her talk to you like that?' It’s a 'Watch it...' We all know Tim likes it when Lucy talks to him like that. It’s that assertive confidence that attracts him to her. One of many reasons But It’s far too early to delve into that fully haha We all know it’s true though. Lucy tells him his bounty Nico is a very dangerous person. Rex tries to rattle her one more time. Saying how he’s been dealing with dangerous men since she was in diapers. Lucy tells him these days you have to call law enforcement for this stuff. She cracks me up and says maybe he should read Tim’s book LMAO
Tumblr media
Lucy tries the next day to mend fences with Tim. Asking him if he'd like her to read to him? Trying to offer up a olive branch. He instantly shuts her down. Says no. Lucy tries to implore him to let her. That he needs to learn it. He grumpily replies ‘I can do that on my own.' Oof she really hit a nerve with this one. Before Lucy can fight him some more they pull back up to Rex’s van. Tim is wanting to do a welfare check on him. He didn't report his bounty last night. Lucy calls him out for it and Tim says he wouldn’t put it that way to Rex though. But he's being a softie and she knows it.
They find blood and broken glass and call it in. Rex has been assaulted and Tim sees red. He takes off once Rex says Nico is headed to his aunt's. Lucy calls after him saying they need a warrant. Tim doesn’t listen as he takes off and Rex tells Lucy go with Tim.
Tumblr media
Tim busts in raging says blood on the door enough reason for them to search. Lucy takes control of the situation quickly. Makes the aunt call Nico. Says they’ll arrest for aiding and abetting if she doesn’t. Does this to calm Tim down a bit. She’s so good at that. Not the first time she's taken charge to rein him a bit. The aunt calls it doesn't take long to find him in the house Then comes this bad ass fight scene. Last episode I said they’re like poetry in motion in the field. This gif is the definition of that. Look how well they work together to take Niko down. It’s a thing of beauty really.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First off let’s enjoy the fact we’re getting Tim all sweaty and guns out to play shall we? Ovary explosion for me. It's a very nice visual for me to start this scene. *fans self* Never get over how fine this man is honestly. Now let’s move onto the beautiful moment that’s about to commence. Lucy finds Tim working out. Ask's if he's training for his next re-match with Nico haha She hands him the little Audio book he looks so confused as to what this might be. His confusion continues after she explain its the audiobook version of his book.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy looks so proud of herself when she explains she recorded it for him. She should be. You know she spent whatever free time she had off shift doing that for him. That is no small feat. Also the fact that she reached out to Isabel for him. I can’t imagine that conversation wasn’t a little awkward for her. But guess what? She did it anyways to help him. Even when he’s obstinate af with her she is driven to help him no matter what.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That psych degree comes in handy when she’s deciphering Tim. Why he acts the way he does. He lashed out cause he was embarrassed by the fact that he learns through listening. This is why Lucy does this for him. So he feels better about the way he learns. Doesn’t feel shame about it. He is much more receptive to her explanation this time around. You can see it in his face in that second gif above. She is so kind and gentle while she does it. Letting him know hey it's ok you learn this way. Nothing is wrong with it or you.
I can totally relate to Tim too btw. I am a Kinesthetic learner as well. I absorb audio books far more than sitting down and reading. I have to be moving while I listen or I’m instantly bored and disengage. If it’s a fic I’m fine for most part if it’s a one shot. But anything I have to read at massive length? I gotta be moving. So I get it Tim I’m same way my love.
Tumblr media
She ends her explanation by complimenting him in the best way she can. By letting him know that the way he learns is why he’s such an excellent cop. Building him up and letting him know its why he excels the way he does at his job. Reinforcing his way of learning isn’t a bad thing at all but a strength for him. You can see it in his face he finally accepts this about himself. He replies 'Yeah.' with a small smile of gratitude. Like she's just taught him something about himself and he's not mad about it. Tim can't help but let that Lucy light of hers in.
Tumblr media
Lucy says she will see him tomorrow. Wants to let him get back to his work out. You can tell Tim wants to say something before she goes. He builds up the courage to say 'Thanks' as she’s leaving ❤️ It's such a loaded Thanks for him. The absolute gratitude he has for her in this moment. I’ve said it many times and I’ll continue to say it. Eric says so damn much with just a look. If her recording an audio book isn’t an act of service and love to him I don’t know what is. The look on this man’s face as he says 'Thanks.' He is blown away she took the time to do this for him. Has to make sure Lucy knows how grateful he is before she leaves. Because she saw he had a need and fulfilled it for him. Put him first and took care of him in best way she could think of.
Tumblr media
Lucy’s smile Is everything after he says this. It's the most honest and genuine 'Thanks ' she's ever received from him. She almost can't handle it. Why she nervously smiles back instead of replying. She is adorable. Gah no one gets through like Lucy does for him. Makes me wanna cry honestly. They’re written so damn well it makes me happy. Truly just make one another better in the best way.
Tumblr media
That little smile of his when he hears Lucy’s intro. My damn heart. She truly is the best rookie he’s ever trained. Damn straight. If you weren’t shipping them before, this scene has to get you hook, line and sinker. She recorded an old outdated book for him in her personal time, built him up, made him feel better about how he learns, and reached out to his ex for clarification in order to help him better.
Actions speak louder than words they say for a reason. Her actions are screaming right now. Makes you wonder if he listened at night at all? Did he ever fall asleep to her voice during his studying? Maybe he did maybe he didn't. A girl can dream though haha Such a good ep for them start to finish.
~~~~~
Side notes non-chenford
Mmm Tim laying into Jackson about the hole he’s in. Yes please. Defending Angela when Jackson makes a joke if he’s late his dad is gonna light up Lopez. Tim goes on to tell him she’s going to pay the price if he doesn’t get his shit together. That she will be the target of his fathers aggression if he goes belly up halfway through training. That Jackson owes her his career. Whew lord I love me some protective Tim.
Also Lucy and Jackson living together ❤️ such a good friend to take him in like that I love it. First thing he needed to her back on track.
I am not kidding. There are now Climate Zealots who are eager to bring about World War III as the means to save the planet by eliminating 50%+ of the world population. This is why all our world leaders are promoting war, and the NEOCONS love it.
In 2020, messages including “The Earth has a deadline” began to appear on the display. Then, numbers 7:103:15:40:07 showed up, representing the years, days, hours, minutes, and seconds until that deadline. On September 17, the clock began counting down from seven years, 103 days, 15 hours, 40 minutes, and seven seconds, displayed in red.
Ironically, they may be correct in proposing that 2027 the world will end, but not for climate reasons.  They realize there is NO WAY we can abandon fossil fuels and replace them with wind and solar. That is just impossible. You must reduce the world population by 50% to make the power grid and electric cars feasible. Our computer has forecast that the peak of World War III is most likely in the 2026/2027 time period.
This is NOT my opinion. I stood up at our World Economic Conference in 2011 and showed that the War Cycle would turn up in 2014, and our computer even projected Ukraine would be the place. I even posted that Ukraine would be the place to watch for the start of World War III back in 2013 BEFORE the 2014 revolution, and Victoria Nuland selected the UNELECTED new government and instructed them to start the civil war by attacking the Donbas. Everyone knew that would force Putin to defend the Russian people there.
Our computer is not partisan or biased and is not influenced by human intervention. It is the ONLY Artificial Intelligence Computer with a 40-year track record. The ONLY mainstream press to ever slightly review the forecasts was the New Yorker Magazine back in 2009. In 2011, this model forecasted the markets would make all-time new highs above 2007. Most laughed. Barrons wrote: Circular Reasoning: A Market for Pi in the Sky? The man who called the ’87 crash is now calling for a long-term market rise. By ROBIN GOLDWYN BLUMENTHAL. Barrons never reported how the forecasts were the only ones to be correct. They reported them in 2011 because they thought they were absurd. Even the German magazine Smart Investor pointed out that we were the only ones projecting inflation and an economic boom into 2024, while the majority kept calling for a recession over the last three years. They wanted to know, “Could you please briefly explain your forecasting approach?”
At 25:00, in Akasaka Episode Six Review
Tumblr media
Photo Credit: At 25:00, in Akasaka Promotional Twitter Account
That weird cake with sugar and anchovies
I really don’t know what to write here. I’m very disappointed by the plot. I don’t want the episode to get stuck in my head. My two big problems about the episode are on Shirasaki’s low self-worth personality and Asami’s crush? Not Crush? On Shirasaki.
Shirasaki’s Low Self-Worth Personality
Okay, Shirasaki in the Live-Action is made into this untapped, only play in some plays, actor. Hence, he had to even be a server to get by something very believable as many American actors or performers always had to be a server just to scrap by. I think adding Shirasaki’s background as a server could really give a class struggle perspective for the series. My comment on whether the class struggle perspective will be reserved after the finale. The point is, because Shirasaki is not winning, getting any break on his acting career, it made Shirasaki fossilized, ossified, in the state perpetual low self-worth.
The LA was missing a little bit on this front. Shirasaki was made to be some under-recognized actor. He had been in some series, but never become a main protagonist in any of the series that he was in. He was not yet chauffeured at the start of the manga like he became after he got recognized due to the popularity of the emotional confession crying scene Shirasaki did in the fake drama. The point that I was trying to make was, Shirasaki had some respect of himself, not only because he got casted in several plays and some shows as supporting characters, but he was independently very sure and confident of himself. The comment he made to Asami about how modelling is only for “untalented” – if I’m not mistaken – people, and hence Asami had to leave the modelling world, that comment was made even before Shirasaki got casted into one play or series. Heck, even Shirasaki was not casted in the play that Asami got casted in during their university years.
Shirasaki’s confidence was independently nurtured, and it kept growing as even Shirasaki hadn’t got casted lead in any TV series. I would love to understand how or what made Shirasaki became that almost sure of himself of a person, but the manga left that backstory out.
Okay, the LA wanted to make Shirasaki someone with low self-worth. How far exactly can someone low self-worth seep into someone’s life? I understand that one’s perception of oneself will affect that person’s relationship with other people, be it for friendship or romantic relationships. I think I’m really writing out of my ass here, but it’s really bothering me that Shirasaki was made to have such a low self-esteem that he flip-flopped on even the acknowledgement of his own feelings.
Shirasaki finally had a sleepover with Asami after he became quite famous due to the emotional confession crying scene – as written in the manga. Shirasaki actually didn’t want to come to Asami’s place because Shirasaki was still hung up on whether Asami liked Shirasaki romantically reciprocally. However, Asami was quite insistent on making Shirasaki go because he was missing them doing couple stuff.
Asami then asked Shirasaki to stay over because it was getting late, and Shirasaki already had many clothes stored at Asami’s place anyway. What a line, lol. They then proceeded to watch a TV show together, during which, Asami told Shirasaki that he hated it when Yasuma called Shirasaki “Yuki”, Shirasaki’s first name because he supposedly only wanted Shirasaki to be called Yuki only by himself. Of course, when Shirasaki was about to ask Asami whether he liked him or not, Asami fell asleep.
Shirasaki found a project paper for one of Asami’s advertisements when he was getting a blanket for Asami. Side rage note: the advertisement gig was supposed to be one of the percursors of Shirasaki’s second crisis of confidence. I really don’t get why they couldn’t put anything else to denote Asami’s busyness. Why should we be reminded anyway as a viewer, we already know that Asami was hella demanded in episode four.
That was not my point, this whole recollection was to show the first emotional flip-flop of Shirasaki. After putting the blanket on Asami, Shirasaki then had this monologue in front of Asami’s sleeping body. He first appreciated that Asami made time for him. He then said how he would be fine if they couldn’t talk for a while, I assumed it was because of Asami’s hectic schedule. I suppose that said line was about the sacrifice Shirasaki was willing to make because he was madly in this one-sided love. However, why then did he decide to lean in and almost kissed Asami? If you had agreed to do the sacrifice, wouldn’t you then refrain yourself from doing anything grand, like kissing your crush?
The next day, as they were in set, Yamase and Sakuma were talking about Asami’s latest paparazzi article in which he was spotted going on a date with someone. Yamase and Sakuma didn’t believe that it was a real date as they knew that Shirasaki already had a long-established crush on someone – as written in the manga with several implementation differences. Of course, Shirasaki had this conversation buzzing in his head. After he got home, as he was still contemplating the conversation, he partook with Yamase and Sakuma, Asami texted him to come to his place. Shirasaki really did not want to come over because he knew that Asami already someone in his heart, but then, he went anyway to his place? What is happening? During the montage of Shirasaki rushing to Asami’s place, Shirasaki said that he was okay to just be Asami’s koibito, because he knew that Asami already liked someone else. At first I thought that GagaOOLala was wrong in interpretating the word to be boyfriend, because I know that koibito can also be translated as lover(s) as was shown in Love is Better the Second Time Around. However, now that I’m thinking about it, I share the confusion. I don’t think “lover(s)” is the right translation for the use of the word as they are not having sex – noting that in the west, the word lover(s) has been used for a set of people who just often hooks up. They’re not officially dating either, hence boyfriend is also not that correct in describing what Shirasaki and Asami are in.
I mean, in the manga, Shirasaki still has sex to celebrate the end of the filming of the fake drama, not the fake drama sequel I must emphasize to you, because it was his need – he needed to ride the pole. Shirasaki went home after he had sex with Asami because he knew that he could never the long-established crush that Asami always has in his heart. However, Asami then surprised Shirasaki by going to his place, in his flip-flop without make-up for everyone to see, in the morning and confessing to him that Shirasaki was his long-established crush.
See how badass that scene was in the manga? What is happening with the LA script writing? I know that Shirasaki has self-worth issues, but does it need to go this far?
I also need to add that we don’t really see the journey of Shirasaki’s mental health that well in the LA. I’m not saying that the journey had to be always upwards, but it seems like we’re losing track of which emotional/psychological crises can Shirasaki handle and which he cannot. I mean, in Tadaima, Okaeri, I also noted how Masaki lambasted himself for failing to win a battle which he thought he had grown out of. Even in the manga, we saw Shirasaki got knocked down in volume three as he was trying to work with this notoriously difficult play director. He certainly was not on top of it during the first volume either as he was just starting out to be finally this well-known actor. I’m not saying that Shirasaki needs to be this confident alpha man or something.
It's just that his self-worth problem becomes so apparent when the writers wanted to delay a plotline, and it became quite non-existent when we want to know more on his self-worth progression.
Asami’s Crush? Not Crush?
@solarpirates told me that “sa”, or some other word that Asami said in that locker room, could be interpreted as “wel…,” or “do I?...” I was grateful for that interpretation as it really helped me not to feel sad about Asami’s seemingly uncrystallized – in biochemistry terms – crush on Shirasaki. The other interpretation made it seemed like Asami indeed had a crush on Shirasaki, it’s just that he was not telling Yamase about it.
However, this episode really made me even sadder as it seemed like the crush possibility was made into some bait. Sure, Asami was missing Shirasaki to the extent that he asked him to do “couple things”, a call back to I Became the Main Role of a BL Drama trope, and sure, Asami told Shirasaki hated it when Yamase called Shirasaki by his first name, but what else? As I have written in the episode five analysis, Asami was made to feel so hollow, so empty. I’m trying so hard to give the script writers the benefit of the doubt here, but my head hurt so much in trying to make some sort of explanations of Asami’s crush manifestations on Shirasaki.
Like, take Sasaki to Miyano, Sasaki was not aware of his crush to Miyano, however we were presented with an array of emotions, body languages of Sasaki, and Miyano, of their crush to each other. I mean, the way that Sasaki always complimented his underclassman, how he spent time with Miyano to resolve his problem. How about Love is Better the Second Time Around? Nah, Takashi is just too horknee and down so bad for Hiro. Oh yea, let’s take Our Dining Table, Minoru actually took time to spend a day with Yutaka. He also tried to solve his problem of not being able to eat together with people in a room.
Sure, I mean, yes, Asami also did all of those stuffs, some of it, with Shirasaki. Asami coached Shirasaki when he was stuck not being able to say “I like/love you” in the fake drama scene. Asami also complimented Shirasaki, in this episode, when Shirasaki was trying so hard to understand a line from their script, by saying that he’ll do just fine, and he will make it (the line) his own.
I suppose all of those actions become so stale as we see it, and it’s being represented as two coworkers helping each other. As the LA series chose not to be explicit like Dakaichi, I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man Alive, and Shirasaki is not as big of a fanboy like Yuichiro, Asami’s manifestations of his crush to Shirasaki became so stale and even not real.
I mean, episode seven is supposed to be a flashback episode, I hope that this crush issue can be resolved then.
I’m not saying that nothing is salvageable from this episode, I think the way Shirasaki made space and the fact that Shirasaki finally had a huge confidence journey of breaking up – or rather just stop playing as boyfriends – with Asami are two good things that came up in this episode.
(Archive) Animated movie of the day: Tenshi no Tamago (1985)
Originally posted: January 3rd, 2022 Mamoru Oshii. If the name is unfamiliar to you, he's one of the most successful auteurs in the world of anime. I use this label over director because, while there's clear authorial intent with many of them, Oshii has been known for flat out defying giants and using their namesakes to make his unique vision come through regardless of the consequences(Urusei Yatsura and Ghost in the Shell come to mind). So when he was given full creative freedom as an established director…he went into the depressing but beautiful realm of visual poetry and religious symbolism.
Inspired by his own crisis of faith, this is probably the most abstract and surreal movie I've reviewed so far. It's slow paced, visually dense, nearly devoid of dialogue in it's entirety and it presents a fairly simple narrative in terms of what literally happens but near incomprehensible when it comes to analysing it's themes. The utter most basic gist is about a little girl that holds on to a large egg. She meets a man that carries a cross shaped rifle and they travel together in what seems to be an abandoned, dying world.
While it's clear Christian imagery is prominent throughout it all(including an ominous divergence of the story of Noah), the actual meaning behind it all is not clear cut and left open to interpretation, and the events throughout are themselves often presented in an ethereal fashion. The artistry of the images on display is simply stunning, with the art direction of Yoshitaka Amano of Final Fantasy fame. The end result, however, is less whimsical and more of a melancholic dreamscape made of abandoned buildings and angel fossils; where the shadows are overpowering and you're only accompanied by the sound of running water.
Closer to what you would see from Andrei Tarkovsky than a traditional anime, this is the last film you'd watch with a bucket of popcorn. Even so, it's still an experience I'd recommend anyone to have at least once.
Tumblr media
Riddle Rosehearts
Knowing him, he must be confused at first how to play the game
so he ended up looking through reviews, guides, and even if there are rules in the game before playing
long procedure, and he’s pretty insistent and tells you to be patient with him-
Lowkey finds the voices of the NPCs weird- but Riddle overall finds the game design adorable and well-made.
Deuce Spade
Gets pretty obsessed with fishing until he finds very creepy-looking fishes,,, X’D
Loves to take screenshots of your avatars together-
Would lowkey think why does he feel slow when trying to make his avatar run-
Likes to drop items in the inventory for you to pick up whenever you miss a certain item.
Tumblr media
Jade Leech
He’s more used to watching you play rather than making himself play games-
But since you offer to play with him whenever he’s free, he won’t mind-
Pretty good at decorating his room- And takes his time to customize his island.
Likes to stay still and keep his avatar in a bench near the flowers when AFK for some reason-
Loves to send you letters with gifts at Dodo Airlines- pretty much a way to pamper you through game.
Floyd Leech
I can imagine him collecting fossils and trying to catch any bug he sees-
“Making a whole town in an island? Sounds like a lot of work,,,,-“
Often visits your island-
You’ll see Floyd start calling millions of sea names to all the NPS he commonly sees instead of SIMPLY calling them by their names- 🤣
Floyd// *sees a tokoyaki-like NPC working out* where’s the interact button to eat him-
Tumblr media
Lilia Vanrouge
This is what happens once I learn that this old man plays video games-
Low-key finds the game cute ad would be down to play with it with you whenever you have couple game nights.
Lilia quietly chuckles like a child whenever he reads the NPCs interact- some moments are pretty funny,,,-
Audie(NPC)// Y’know… if I were a song.
Chadder(NPC)// Yeah, I think I’ve got the answer. You’d be, like, the world’s saddest breakup song-
Audie(NPC)// What?! I would never listen to a sad song, even if I did just get dump-
Lilia// *About to wheeze quietly like a boiling kettle through vc*
Okay I'm done with the film review for my sociology class, now you can all have my rant about it, and it's LONG so it's going under a read more:
I'm watching that new Netflix documentary about dirt - Kiss The Ground. For context, I'm an undergrad researcher in biogeochemistry and I study the carbon cycle, particularly a very specific type of decomposition that occurs in waterlogged soils - methanogenesis.
I'm so thrilled that something this mainstream is talking about soil carbon, soil microbes (my beloveds), and carbon sequestration. They're talking about root exudates and mychorrizhae and agriculture as part of an ecosystem! That's exciting. There's also a really excellent dose of climate hope in this documentary - and I am really excited to see that concept getting out of niche environmental circles and into things that regular people might actually watch.
On the other hand, parts of this documentary tick me off. I do not consider Tom Brady, nor his wife, to be a reliable source about the importance of organic agriculture. I know you're trying to interest the non-science types but come on, that is a classic appeal to irrelevant authority fallacy. And they should have said the thing about how we do still have to stop using fossil fuels and reach net zero emissions IN ADDITION TO sequestering the carbon we've already emitted more than one time in the whole film, because I just know people are going to take the rest of this message and run with it in the wrong direction. And they are really hammering home the appeal to emotions in the first half, to the point where I think the core of their argument suffers for it. Are you trying to explain this thing to me or are you throwing around buzzwords and pictures of sick children in hopes I'll get distracted?
Also they keep introducing guests with credentials like "ecologist from the Rodale Institute." You know nobody knows what the fuck that is, right? (It's an NGO dedicated to organic farming, for the record, but I did have to google it, and they had multiple guest speakers from this group.) Come on, you have no credibility if I can't tell where your info's coming from, and most people are not going to do background research as they watch a documentary.
Overall, I agree with their main points but I'm annoyed with how they made them. They're right about the ability of soil to sequester carbon, they're right that it could play a big role in climate change mitigation, and they're right that helping the soil is also better for people, ecosystems, and the planet. They're right about no till farming, permaculture, and crop diversity. They're even right about the bullshit that is the US industrial agricultural system, and they dug into how it came about in the post-WWII era, which isn't something I see talked about much. Kind of baffled how they managed to talk about soil degradation in the Midwestern USA without getting into the unique ways prairie soil and roots work, and instead went down a weird rambly path about how plows are bad (true, at least here - I cant speak for ecosystems I don't know as well - but explained poorly) and cows are good because this system evolved to have bison in it (sort of true, but incomplete. Cows aren't bison and the differences do matter.)
Also, reduced meat consumption is a very common thing that a lot of experts say is needed for climate change mitigation, and don't think I didn't notice how you sidestepped the issue just to say 'cows are good actually, stop vilifying cows.' I call bullshit. Just because cows work well in some ecosystems on a certain scale does not mean that it's possible to farm meat sustainably on the scale we currently do - factory farming and feedlots (CAFOs, if you want to get technical) are what allows us to make this much meat in the first place. You just admitted we need cows spread out on a lot more land to making ranching sustainable, and then failed to address the fact that this idyllic system doesn't really mesh with a world in which everybody eats multiple servings of beef per day. I see that decision and I know why you made it, because asking people to make sacrifices for the climate tends to make them ignore you, I don't even necessarily disagree with that decision because I know you're trying to persuade normal people and not environmentalists, but don't think I didn't notice.
Okay, fine, NOW they're talking about eating less meat and how what meat people do eat needs to come from more sustainable agricultural practices. Good. Better.
Oh look at our free range eggs, they're orange and that means they have more nutrients. Do they? Please back up this claim with scientific evidence. Of course the farmer says his eggs are better, he raised them. It's plausible, but I am pedantic and a scientist and I want data. You have to prove things to me.
Overall not a horrible documentary but ticks me off in several ways and tries to cram too many different subjects into like an hour and a half. Also, visiting the film's website makes me MORE ANGRY because they say even STUPIDER things about how they think climate science works. They make it sound like carbon sequestration in soil is THE solution which is BULLSHIT. There is no THE solution, there's gotta be a bunch of em stacked on top of each other - according to basically every climate change mitigation plan I've ever heard of (Project Drawdown is a good example). There's this metaphor I like to use to explain this to people - there's no silver bullet, but there could be silver buckshot. I read that somewhere once and cannot remember where but I'll never forget it.
Anyways, if you want a good intro to soil health directed at non-scientists/environmentalists, Kiss The Ground isn't bad, but you gotta think critically about some of the claims it's making because some of them are bullshit.
this movie was honestly pretty fun. enjoyed it more than i was expecting tbh, i used my membership tuesday price on this cuz i did not feel like paying full price for a ticket to see this. kind of thought it would be just dumb "ooh evil kid" shock horror
and like. don't get me wrong it is definitely ooh evil kid horror but the twist is given relatively early with only minor padding for a bigger twist later. thought it was decently funny and it works well enough as a singular movie but i don't see it warranting a sequel which the ending might be building up to. and though it was fun everything was like. Fine. directing was fine. acting was fine. music was fine. probably would not see it again but did not hate my decision watch it
60/100
Alien (1979)
Tumblr media
YES this is really my first time seeing Alien, i am pretty unfamiliar with basically everything about Alien, nothing i say will probably be new
first off the sound was like. really quiet? and idk if it's because my theater had the volume too low or if that's the way it was mixed--it is an old movie after all--but i couldn't hear a lot of the dialogue and i feel like it would've boosted my enjoyment of the movie a lil more but i did really like it
specifically the art direction and set design. the alien planet and the ship, the fossilized skeleton on that big chair all with this really distinct weird black mechanical look that is also like. weirdly alive. and how that extends to the nostromo having parts of it as the movie progresses that looks like the alien. biomechanical is i think the word for it? its awesome. epic, even. makes u paranoid
big fan of the directing as well. very claustrophobic at some scenes. the refusal to show you the alien in full for a while. reaction shots instead of direct sight of the gore and horror (the cat when the janitor dies, ripley hearing parker and lambert die as she runs)
the thing that detracts from the movie for me is the sexual violence undertones. just simply not a fan
p good, might need to rewatch with subtitles to appreciate a bit more once i understand the actual plot lmfao. also this movie is very sweaty just like love lies bleeding. maybe i like sweaty movies. 80/100
(more under the cut)
Civil War (2024)
Tumblr media
this movie was not very good
i was not going to see it and then i heard that it was less a typical war movie from the perspective and soldiers and shit that it was more about war correspondence and that piqued my interest as someone who used to want to be a journalist. turns out it's not even that much about war correspondence either. the main characters are war photographers but it all feels like. pretty surface level?
not to mention i understand the intent of keeping the politics of a theoretical civil war part 2 vague so as to not actually incite any specific kind of rage or controversy from either side but like. its a civil war movie. about war correspondence and photography.
the emotional hook of the movie just does nawt work for me. the young photographer lady is incredibly dumb. why does she do the things she does. why does she jump between the cars like that when she's so obsessed with the main lady. i had other gripes with her but i dont even remember all of them because this movie is already a distant memory. the bonding between them does nothing for me and just feels really forced and corny.
that being said there are some nice shots in this movie. it's well-directed but the sound design is really fucking carrying. all of the gunshots are LOUD and impactful and i think that really helps with the conflict where the wishy washy centrist politics fail.
30/100. not the worst movie ive ever seen but i would not watch it again.
Fallout (2024)
Tumblr media
yeah yeah the show is really good. acting is good all across the board. was fun seeing the fun references / easter eggs to fallout. i was particularly interested in norm's side of the plot and lucy was a really refreshing protagonist. i think maximus was the weakest of the main plotlines but i'm hoping they go somewhere with his darker side because while i think it was the weakest i think he has the most potential
like lucy and the ghoul are pretty squarely set on their own sides with their own clear morals (or karma, good and evil) but maximus is someone who wants to be a good person but is often just. not good at being a good person. he's naive and not very competent at his job tbh but is still being heralded as a new wave of the brotherhood of steel. very interested to see where all that goes.
enjoyed it a ton. 85/100
Monkey Man (2024)
Tumblr media
dev patel really made a movie about the healing power of trans people and he's awesome for that
good action flick with some scathing political commentary that i wish i was more well-versed on indian politics to say something substantial about but i could Feel the contempt for modi/the bjp and hindu nationalism as a whole
it's shot & edited sooooooo frenetically and i think this works a lot of the time HOWEVER at some points it is like. an active detriment. i never really feel nauseous when movies use shaky cam but this movie's camera is not just shaking. that shit is rocking. vibrating. particularly when he's outrunning the police thats when it gets Bad
otherwise i really enjoyed it. the action hits. the aesthetics and cinematography are probably my favorite of everything i watched this month! that being said i probably wouldn't watch it again just because i'm not the type to rewatch action movies like these i think ive only ever seen john wick the one time
75/100
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
it was fine. it's a documentary idk i don't have much to say. doesn't really feel right rating it but i watched it and the visuals were breathtaking but like it doesnt rly have a plot or anything. its neat. nice background thing to put on while you do something else
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2023)
Tumblr media
yeah yeah. unique color palette and color grading. directed well to suit the framing device. everyone and everything is smartly positioned onscreen.pretty good performances from people who have to just dump like 60 lines of dialogue on you all at once. yall know this one is good its wes anderson go watch it its 40 minutes long
75/100
video games:
The Battle of Polytopia (2016)/Let's Build a Zoo (2021)
putting both of these games here because i really don't have a lot to say about them, i played them both very briefly. in let's build a zoo's case, literally for five minutes. the battle of polytopia was boring and after like two runs i was like ok welp that's it for me. i did play the mobile version so that might be part of the problem but idk i don't think the gameplay loop would've grabbed me even if expanded. let's build a zoo had atrocious UI and controls on console and i immediately got pissed off trying to build an enclosure and uninstalled
Fallout 3 (2008)
Tumblr media
i am not immune to propaganda
is this game good? not really but my favorite elder scrolls game is oblivion so you should know i, for one, love bethesda jank. love walking around in a big ass world full of weird people and discovering places and just taking a look around. frankly i don't care if i died five times to the same pack of super mutants. i'm having a good time.
not super deep into the main story and have only completed about ten quests but i'm into it
Mineko's Night Market (2022)
Tumblr media
man i like. really wanted to like this game. it has a really cute art style and a good sense of humor, and i like management and sim games. unfortunately it just failed to grab me. i had a chuckle or two for the first hour i played but after that i was just really bored running around looking for flowers and i quit before i even got to attend the actual night market. i played it through my dad's gamepass and i usually end up quitting games quickly due to buying them on steam and needing to decide if i like them or not under 2 hours. otherwise i try not to quit games that early unless they're super boring or glitchy/unplayable. unfortunately even without that time limit looming over my head it just wasn't really doing anything for me.
if u got this far into reading this i love u
