Savage Sword of Conan #27, March 1978, pin-up by Clyde Caldwell
Published in a section of readers submissions, it was actually a censored reprint of a piece that first appeared in Fantasy Crossroads #6, November 1975
Caldwell would later do the cover of Savage Sword of Conan #59, December 1980, and become famous for his work on Dungeons and Dragons, especially Dragonlance.
"that silent knight rests from danger, on a ledge. what lies behind those empty eyes..? what greater purpose compels them to return here? their nail gleaming, with that singular purpose. for this, they left the safety of the wastes, to venture into the heart of hallownest. but for now, they rest."
week 34! a day late, because stress, and the freaking power went out again >:3, but i made it eventually! hope this piece makes up for it. im quite proud of how the lighting turned out. thank you for checking out my silly drawing, i hope youre having a wonderful weekend! much loves <3
what do you think the logistixs of a knee brace armor piece would be .. (totally not asking bc i wanna draw/write and im bored whaaat no)
This is. sorta rushed and with limited research but ":] yk
if anyone more qualified want to give their two-cents please do ashjkadhshg
the hinge is kinda a toss up. i feel like the more practical option would be to put it on the inside and just watch it carefully to make sure it isnt coming out with a vengence as opposed to it breaking Mid-Fight but if it breaks anyway its gonna impale the side of your knee which is. not great sahdjkfvdass
also i realise i didnt. clarify the hinges go on the sides outside & inside of the knee {lateral and medial apparently if u wanna get fancy} not front and back or anything
Want to write about a haunting? There are six haunted places on my Weird Wednesday blog, with writing prompts!
The Flannan Isles Vanishing: The Mysterious Disappearance of Three Lighthouse Keepers
Phantom Islands: The Isle of Demons, Fata Morgana Land, and of course, Atlantis
The Deadly Dyatlov Pass: What happened to nine hikers on a snowy night in 1959?
The Amityville Horror: Infamous American Haunted House
The Villisca Axe Murders: 1912 Tragedy
The Crossroads: Metaphysical Meeting Place
A prompt:
Putting the phantom in phantom island. Perhaps a certain island is a gathering place for phantoms of all kinds: ghosts of the drowned from vessels lost in the area, sea monsters, wormholes through space/time, zombies, or demons. Perhaps someone has literally cursed the place, or maybe it’s the site of an evil relic or graveyard of the damned. It could even be the home port of the ghost ship Flying Dutchman.

“If all else fails, I promise to do everything it takes to return to you, Arlo. And when I do, this is where I will be. I always have, and always will. This rock and I, we’re old friends of a sort. Perpetual and everlasting.”
“And I promise to be here waiting.” I entangle my fingers with his, meeting his tired eyes. He looks so much better than yesterday, but there’s a dullness to him that I cannot deny, like a fading photograph. “Always."
You guessed it, this is a @crossroadart-seabear appreciation post. Of the course the main fellows are beautiful and longing and wistful, but the market goers are so full of personality and detail they deserve their own ooh and aah moment.
I especially love the musican, and the trumpet player in the distance. If you look closely, you can see the clocktower that Josse lives in. He's the inventor who made our beloved Floyd.
Also, isn't it so telling how Bosko watches over Arlo and Thatch? Grumpy old bird is good at that.
Till then his power and mind live in his slayers body.
Me: @crossroadart-seabear … because like a moth brained fuck I posted this on my reblog account. Ah well… whatever. Follow me here on my reblog account too. I reblog cool fantasy and fantasy cryptid art.
NEW FICTION: A favour given.
Gifts cannot be given without first receiving favours - it's always been that way. But what if the gift needed is the most precious ever? Should the favour be the same?

Hey, y’all, it’s Weird Wednesday! Where on some Wednesdays, I blog about weird stuff and give writing prompts.
Today: The Crossroads: Metaphysical Meeting Place
Welcome to Weird Wednesday! Today we are going to visit…nowhere.
No, really. Because when you stand at the center of a crossroads, that’s exactly where you are. Which road are you on? What direction are you going? And there’s no path forward that doesn’t pass over some kind of border.
Crossroads are contradictory, and in folklore, that makes them very powerful. They’re “thin places,” meaning the border you cross may not only be physical, but metaphysical. It certainly makes dying or being buried at a crossroads quite a fearsome fate…
For one thing, it would be super noisy! Because you can meet all kinds of interesting characters at a crossroads. Step on over here for a look!
Check out the blog post for the whole story and some spirited prompts, such as:
The $64,000 question. What if, as a necromancer, you have what seems to be an unanswerable question? Maybe you have asked every spirit you can summon to the crossroads, good or evil, and have never gotten an answer. The question could be something huge like “What is the meaning of life?”, or smaller but important: “Where is my dad’s will?”.
Or maybe the necromancer is looking for simple historical information. Imagine asking “What happened to D.B. Cooper?” and you just keep getting spirits who have no idea. Nobody was in the Pacific Northwest at the right time, nobody knows anything about skydiving except maybe Joe, who died in a skydiving accident, but that kinda disqualifies him as an expert. And as for asking demons, well— when they don’t know an answer they’re likely to say something like “Oh, yeah, I know Dan, he’s still in the woods ‘cause he married Bigfoot.”
