Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 2 — Pitty Pat
I uncovered a couple of new (to me) beasties from my home state of Tennessee while doing research for this year’s Drawtober. Here’s the first one—The Pitty Pat. Sightings of the Pitty Pat creature were first reported after the Civil War in Sales Creek, TN. Few details are given about the appearance of the creature besides it being cat-like in shape, dark in color, and walking on its hind legs.
One of the better known stories of an encounter with the Pitty Pat is that of a woman and her baby who were out one night in a horse drawn wagon. The wagon came around a sharp turn in the road and the Pitty Pat jumped out in front of the horses, frightening them so badly they overturned the wagon and bolted. The Pitty Pat is then said to have carried the baby off, never to be seen again.

Yes, All Legos Are Bricks,
But No, this does not mean all bricks are legos.
On a side note, park rangers would like it if the cryptid residents of Lovepoint Forest would stop holding them hostage to settle debates like this.

I really need people to start getting that there’s a difference between cryptids, creepypasata characters, and creatures and spirits from folklore and religions, nothing is more infuriating or embarrassing than people lumping them all together as “cryptids” now when people call creepypasta/spooky Internet creatures cryptids it’s mislabeling sure but nothing egregious, like okay calling siren-head a cryptid is whatever, I mean you’re wrong, but it’s whatever.. BUT LIKE???? CALLING A FOLKLORIC CREATURE OR AN ACTUAL GOD A CRYPTID????? LIKE??? QUETZALCOATL IS NOT A CRYPTID YOU LILLY LIVERED PIECE OF SHIT

Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 1—The Boggy Creek Creature
The Boggy Creek Creature, also known as the Fouke Monster, is a Bigfoot-like creature reported in Arkansas, USA. The first recorded reports of the creature date back to the 1850s but sightings really took off in the 1970s. Several movies were even made about the creature—you might recognize “old man Crenshaw” here from one of them.
...Boggy Creek II: The Legend Continues also just so happens to be my favorite episode of MST3K haha.

The Not Deer was only ever supposed to be a fun, loose campfire story based on some experiences my friends and I had in a small area, and it's weird seeing it grow so wildly out of control.
It's aggrivating to see people slap appropriated Native American lore onto it when it was never supposed to be that. It's strange seeing people get so heated over a spooky story and try to debunk something that was never meant to be truly "bunked" in the first place.
I have no control over what the internet decides to do with it, of course. It's way out of my hands at this point. But I'd love for more people to know that "OP" does NOT endorse conflating the Not Deer with appropriated Native American folklore and to cut that shit out because it's disrespectful. The Not Deer is his own little guy and I just want people to enjoy his story.
