would it be enough if I could never give you peace?

putting this down as fem!reader, only because there are some specific nicknames I wanted to use (pretty girl, sweet girl, etc) no physical descriptions though!!

very soft fluff, like disgustingly soft. this is loosely based on one of my absolute favourite songs <3

“I feel so safe with you…” you mumble one night while resting against his chest.

it’s been a busy evening- going to one of his games and then to your work party immediately after. needless to say, the both of you are very tired. so tired that when you got home an hour ago, just past midnight. he had to help you get your pyjamas on and drag you to the bathroom before you flopped into bed and cuddled close to one another. you’ve been recharging with each other and focusing on some quality time you missed out on during the day.

atsumu feels his heart squeeze at the sound of your sleepy voice, soft and quiet and matching the persona you often take on when you’re exhausted.

he sighs in content and strokes the cheek not pressed against his chest with his thumb. slow and gentle. “yeah, pretty girl?”

you nod a little, nuzzling further into his skin. “you’re so peaceful.”

he freezes a little out of pure shock.

atsumu has never considered himself a peaceful person.

he’s seen his fans online lovingly describe him as chaotic, heard his teammates refer to him as energetic and sometimes hard to keep up with. he’s gotten abrasive, overexcited, intense… and what’s more, the lifestyle that comes with being a pro athlete is anything less than peaceful to begin with.

he still doesn’t see those as inherently bad qualities, even now that he’s older and doesn’t let his ego run the show anymore.

however he’s got it stuck in his mind that he could never give you peace. would it be enough for you? would you stay with him ten years down the line, even with all the flaws that he believes he is? he’s not easy to love, he knows it, but is he enough to make you stay?

and then sometimes you say things like that, making him question everything, things that change his own perception of himself.

“peaceful, huh? weren’t ya running your mouth this morning calling me a freak for putting my milk in before my cereal?” he tries to joke.

you giggle a little and he holds you tighter out of adoration. “well you still are, but you’re also very peaceful.”

he’s silent for a moment but he can’t help but ask, “how do ya figure?”

you do your best to word it properly. he loves the way your face scrunches up as you think of what to say. “I always feel so calm around you. more calm than I’ve ever felt around anyone else. and so extremely safe. I can be myself with you and I don’t have to worry about anything when you’re around because I know you’ll be there to help me if something does happen.”

he doesn’t know what to say, but you solve that issue for the both of you with what you say next.

“you offer me a special type of peace I didn’t think was possible, ‘tsum. you’re my angel.”

you make it seem so simple, like there’s nothing in the world that could ever dispute it.

he can’t stop his eyes from welling with tears. he’s always been an emotional person- he knows, he’s been berated for it since childhood, both teased and defended against others by osamu for it. he wears his heart on his sleeve and it wasn’t until meeting you that he considered it an admirable quality. he feels things deeply, and this hits him deeper than anything else ever has.

but you’re just as emotional as he is, so when you look up and notice him trying not to cry, you immediately tear up too. “don’t cry,” you sniffle, trying to wipe his tears while a few run down your own face. “I love you so much, atsumu.”

he sniffles as well, voice thick and full of love. “I love you, too, baby. how’d I end up with such a sweet girl, huh?”

you shake your head. “I’m not, I’m just telling the truth.”

he laughs through his tears. “and being sweet while doin’ it.”

he presses kisses to your forehead, mumbling small thank you’s against your skin. “for the record, I feel the exact same about you. my angel.”

you crawl up a bit so you could be face to face with him. you kiss him properly and taste the saltiness of your mixed tears.

“I didn’t think I could ever offer that to anyone. I’m not used to hearing it, so I stopped believin’ it.”

your heart breaks a little but you’re quick to reassure him. “well believe me. you offer me more than I deserve.”

“that’s not true,” he’s always so quick to defend you. “you deserve way more than I could ever give you.”

you smile a little bashfully and then pull a face he recognizes as the one you make when you’re trying not to yawn. “alright, sweetheart, we should get some sleep.”

he strokes your cheek and gently rolls you off of him so your head rests against your pillow. he chuckles when you immediately choose to rest it against his chest again instead. he loosely wraps an arm around your waist and kisses the top of your head.

you listen to his heartbeat and drift off. your breathing evens out almost immediately and atsumu thinks back to a time when you used to struggle to sleep around him.

he smiles to himself, wiping the last of his tears and whispers something you just barely manage to catch before sleep fully pulls you under.

“sweet dreams, baby. I love you.”

peace is one of my favourite songs ever, I very much relate to it. and I think atsumu would too. I wrote this at like 1 am so if there’s mistakes, or if it seems very all over the place, blame it on sleep deprivation and devastating brain rot for the boy </3

It's rather cute, the way he pays attention to everything you do. The tiniest lift to your lips as you pass a few strangers by, amused by something they said that he didn't quite hear. The way you simply look upon the world has him so noticeably enamored, it's enough to get Mitsuru chuckling.

He doesn't realize what he's feeling at first, but once he does he's scared about doing something wrong. Relationships aren't really his forte. Especially romantic ones. But he's sure as hell going to try.

He pays attention to what you like, but sometimes gets it wrong. Junpei leads him astray here and there with his typical How to Get Partner 101(even though he means well). Aki tries getting physically closer and complimenting you, but it honestly just feels stiff and wrong to him. So he ends up just being himself, letting things happen naturally rather than forcing himself into something that doesn't work.

He gets you snacks sometimes, some from the vending machines or from the school's vendor. Occasionally, he'll invite you out to have ramen with him at Hagakure as well. Most of the time he just hangs around you more. Checking up on you and making sure you're alright, that sort of thing. But he also just enjoys spending time with you, even if you're doing separate things.

One of the things that's most obvious about Akihiko is that he always protects those around him- even more so if he's close to them. He'll walk on the side of the road whenever you two are on a sidewalk and tug you out of the way from a rushing passerby or cyclist.

If you're part of SEES you'll see it more clearly. He'll tug you away from attacks in battle or hop in front of you to counter an attack that'd otherwise knock you down. He's vigilant with making sure to step in front of you when danger arises. Or pulling you away. Though he tries not to since he does have a hard time measuring his strength.

A part of him is scared. That maybe he's reading his feelings wrong or maybe you aren't interested in guys at all. That if he says something about it he might ruin the friendship you both have and make it awkward.

So he ruminates. Thinking about how he'll say it or if he should even say it in first place. It almost feels like he's constantly teetering on the edge of just letting everything spill from his lips. That he's on the verge of telling you all of it until he can't breathe anymore.

The way he's always one moment away from telling you is enough to make him realize that his feelings are right.

He likes you.

All he has to do is say it.

NPD culture is everything is a competition, and I must always win, and then I will shove it in other people’s faces to make them regret having ever doubted me. I am constantly comparing myself to others because I don’t know what else to compare myself to. I have no other way of knowing/understanding myself, let alone making goals and motivations without a “reference”. Of course I’ll act like I wasn’t trying if I come short of perfection in a competition though. I’m always told something “isn’t a competition”, but how do they know that? The prize isn’t tangible, so they wouldn’t understand. They don’t understand what it’s like to have to earn love and respect, to work for affection and to be seen as “equal”. No matter how hard I worked it was never enough, so now that has been ingrained into my psyche. I will compete with anyone—strangers, friends, family. I cannot maintain relationships when I am so focused on proving my worth and searching for perceived attacks and insults, when I already assume the other person is out to get me and sees me as inferior, when I don’t even know what love and acceptance is supposed to look like. You get so used to dysfunctional relationships that a healthy one feels foreign and intimidating, because you can’t predict what will happen. Genuine compassion feels like a personal attack or like they’re secretly trying to degrade me; they could genuinely mean it, but I have been conditioned to assume that everything is a threat. Maybe it’s because it makes me feel vulnerable; if people praise my persona I’ve made, then I feel empty, but if people praise the real me, I feel aggressive and humiliated. I can’t stand anyone seeing who I actually am, even if they are willing to extend praise and acceptance; I have not come to love and accept myself, so why should they? I try to be vulnerable, but it feels like my brain physically holds me back sometimes, like it’s trying to protect me from the humiliation and pain I went through. It feels like no matter what I do the praise I receive feels empty and disingenuous. Everything I do is compensation for the fact that I hate myself.

Of course, as a disclaimer, these are just thoughts I have and I don’t say these out loud:

hi lee!!!! ummm thinking of interesting things and questions i just woke up hmm.. ok i’m curious about any of your ocs in like. a opddmh situation… like either they ran away or they’re the one like sheltering a younger dr participant. could be with another one of your ocs could be with a canon character.. are there any combinations there that would be interesting for you? hopefully this makes sense i’m still sort of asleep so i think i worded it sort of clunkily lol :) hope you get less bored soon!!!

ill try to assign them a person and give them a bit of an arc i think.......... in other words ill try to map out what i would do with them if they were in the actual story as another pov >:))

billie: in my mind she is definitely one of the more obvious candidates for a story like this just because soooo much of her character depends on other people and how they influence her personality... and because of this there are a LOT of options regarding who could take her in. i would most likely write her arc around getting better rather than getting worse LMFAO which means a few people would get crossed off of the list right off the bat--- immediately coming to mind is the hiyoko/mahiru/ibuki gang for some reason. i think theres a lot to explore there !!! billie could definitely take influence from ibuki's style, her impressionability/mirroring of other people's personality could definitely lead to trouble around hiyoko considering they are both stressed out, mahiru would be in so much strife about suddenly getting shucked into this caretaker role she's been so adamant on escaping since her killing game and there would be a LOT of parallels to hiyoko there. especially since yknow. billie is copying hiyoko a bit. i can see those three taking in this moody ass teenager with so many illnesses. so many awful influences its great

erin: OK so i am going to assume this is a situation where every season 50 participant is 16-17 again in this hypothetical scenario where they run from the hospital LOL. dear god i can see erin SPRINTING away. im gonna give her to sayaka on this one hands down. sayaka finds erin dead at night just walking absolutely nowhere with this very disorienting smile on her face LMAOO. i think erin's arc in this story would absolutely benefit from somebody who is able to relate to her as a performer and somebody who has this "persona" they need to maintain. erin is such a huge personality and her whole crisis is so huge that her guardian definitely needs to mirror her and learn from her or else they'll get a bit washed away i reckon ghdfksjghfdkjg. i can see the sayaka+erin pairing SO clearly too... like this is a sayaka who has been performing this character for years, probably to the extent where she hardly realises it anymore. throwing erin in with her, a teenage girl with identity issues that managed to actually go through with a plan that sayaka had during HER killing game .....Oughg. i can see them getting so stressed out by each other and i can see them getting just so sad at everything theyve lost

mika: hmmmmmmmm. mika is definitely one of the more practical characters and i dont think she would be hit as TERRIBLY hard as her classmates with the whole "we aren't real" thing. in fact there might even be a bit of relief from it at first. like...... youre telling me one of my biggest insecurities isnt even real because ultimate talents dont even really exist??? AND i dont have to get locked into one interest my entire life??? she's absolutelyyy traumatised and fucked up however i don't really think she'd leave that hospital in the first place LMFAO, i think she's smart enough to realise she doesnt stand much of a shot against team dr. if she made it out she would get paired up with another one of her classmates (like a ryoma+rantaro situation) anddddddddd hm. hm hm. imposter could be very very interesting. here is somebody that is constantly changing, never set in stone, and here is a teenage girl who is stubborn in her own reality and has come to realise her place in life a WHILE ago

naomi: this scenario is so so funny because it implies that somebody CAUGHT her hgfkdghfkdgkjfhgsdkl. there's not a doubt in my mind that she went sprinting out those doors the second she woke up from the simulator but naomi has always been a character with one foot out the door ready to leave. NEVER in one spot. especially in a postgame scenario, where she is extremely traumatised and honestly experiencing psychosis, it's hard to imagine her willingly going home with a stranger.... i think her scenario would DEFINITELY be a bit unconventional, with her constantly leaving and returning. akanes arc to the extreme HFGKGJ. i'll treat this as if naomi would be added to the existing narrative, meaning whoever her "guardian" is can't be EXTREMELY similar to akane so the whole "running away" theme would come second to themes of culpability and punishment i think. she would benefit from having somebody that also felt immeasurably guilty hmmmmmm. i can honestly see hajime. he's already busy as hell with everything he has to do for team dr, only to have to take time out of his day to help this tall ass teenager. their meet would have to be REAL unconventional in order for naomi to have stopped enough for him to help her lmao. as in "she ran out in the middle of the road in the middle of the night during some kind of panicked haze and he very nearly ran her over" type of unconventional. he patched her up, gave her some water and she was GONE. and then she comes back two days later like Heyyy 😍 So about that Guilt

rie: first things first i would throw her with ryobe hands down HGDFK. the amount of hijinks those two could get up to. fantastic. they would really benefit from having each other around and their friendship could be beautiful and real. with that being said these two are definitely a bit more difficult to pair with people just because immediately they have similar arcs to erin and naomi with both of them having difficulty accepting their identities and (ESPECIALLY RYOBE HERE) dealing with punishment/culpability. they would also need more than one guardian i think........ just for ryobe alone LMFAO. i reckon a few season one people could know about them tbh. for the most part they stay with aoi and her kid, which opens up a LOT of interesting avenues concerning whether rie and ryobe should leave for the sake of the kid's safety!! aoi and rie would pretty easily get along, especially if they both kinda keep each other at arms length with their people pleasing personalities they've accumulated over the years (aoi having developed it during her time as a team dr spokewoman). and then one day rie gets caught in complete distress and aoi realises "Oh Huh y'know what maybe this constant stress to perform under threat of violence against both me and my family isn't Healthy" and they both start trying to have more fun. go to the beach or smth. aoi swims for the first time in AGES and she has a total blast

ryobe: soooooooo fucked up postgame and would definitely stress aoi and rie out further without a doubt ghfdskg!! especially so close to the reveal that everything isnt real ryobe would definitely be in complete denial angie style. but more in a "hahahahahaha none of that actually happened!!! that was my brain playing tricks on me and actually i can hardly remember it anyways now that i think about it!!!!! this is definitely because it WASN'T real and NOT because my body is trying to protect me against everything that happened to me". he just reverts back to this goofy guy who always seems like he's on the verge of SOME kind of breakdown, and rie would be no help to him in those first few days, likely going as far as to AFFIRM nothing happened just to keep him from running off without her. i can see aoi bringing in some help for him--- it would probably be another survivor and i can REALLY imagine the dynamic between him and toko. komaru loves him but toko HATES his annoying ass ghfdkjghsdfkghgfjkdsg. they would definitely have a looooooong chat at some point that sends ryobe on the right track. also side note ryobe would be fantastic with aoi's kid however he would definitely teach that toddler a bunch of stupid pranks

sae: so sae is 34 which means she would definitely be the guardian in this scenario gdfjkg so it comes down to which v3 kid would make for an interesting parallel hmmmm hm hm.... immediately coming to mind is kaito. i can see himiko joining him potentially. sae is somebody who has trained herself to be extremely patient and believes anger to be a weakness of sorts. enter kaito who believes the only "strong" emotion he can convey right now is anger because he would be DAMNED if he started crying about that killing game gfhsdjgk. they'd have a lottt to learn from each other, and i think the entire scenario would definitely push sae to a lot of her limits. i mentioned himiko just because her arc of emotional repression could be a mirror to sae possibly, but because this is a postgame scenario i think himiko would be SO absolutely fixated on being seen as useful and helpful and energetic that she throws herself into whatever work sae can give her. and of course sae the workaholic has a lot of work to give her LMFAO. they pass out at the same time

yoshito: similar to mika it's hard to imagine him leaving the simulator just because he is the protagonist and they'd be keeping an eye on him however if he DID. he would need somebody who is constantly in his ear like Aren't you mad .....Don't you want to go apeshit ......mondo and leon are coming to mind. they're really teaching that kid how to let loose. shatter some glass, go fucking wild!!!! and while we're at it, let's all examine how our reckless behaviour might be a method of self harm we have developed for ourselves after our killing game but make sure not to tell the kid ok. make sure nobody tells yoshito, who has been trained on helping people his entire life and just needs to think about himself for ONCE

andi: hhehehehhehehehheh. computer thang. even though she is ageless there is no universe where she becomes a guardian and it's really really funny to think that somebody grabbed her computer chip and ran. i think it HAS to be chihiro. something fantastic and vaguely homosexual going on there

This is a small complaint but I wish the game provided some subtitles for the text on the screen. I feel like I'm going to miss context on some things that would have been obvious if I could tell what things were saying.

Anyway, I think we have secured our mandatory Buddy Guy party member. In a bit he says his name is Ryuji, so I'm gonna just call him that. While walking down a creepy alleyway to get to school, they find a big imposing castle instead.

And rather than, idk, turning around and assuming they took the wrong way, these idiots go inside to ask around.

Not to be harsh but y'all deserve what's about to happen.

Captured and thrown into another goddamn motherfucking jail cell, why is Reverie's life just moving from literal jail cell to metaphorical jail cell and back again. Gee, Atlus, are you trying to tell me something? Trying to build a motif here?

So the interesting thing to me is that Ryuji literally referred to Kamoshida as the king of a castle. Might be a coincidence, might be foreshadowing. I'm gonna keep an eye out for any convenient moments like that with later dungeons.

So far, this game feels like a pond full of red herrings.

Shadow Kamoshida is ready to straight up murder Ryuji, so it's time to get our Persona on.

After another tutorial fight, Morgana The Not-A-Cat-Thanks tells me to use some items to increase my HP and what is this. what is this menu. oh my god.

I wanna call it "maximalist" but that term doesn't even seem adequate enough, what the fuck is beyond maximalism? Fuck me. It's not just the stark colors, it's not just the overuse of fonts, it's not just the way everything kinda bounces and jiggles, it's not just the hard contrasts and color inversions.

okay moving on, Morgana helps Reverie and Ryoji-- GODDAMMIT that is the fourth time I have made that typo. Ryuji, Morgana helps them escape the castle but claims to have unfinished business and remains themself.

Already, I am eyeing Ryuji and taking stock. He seems like a nice dude but not very quick on the update. Most of his lines so far are going "what is this, what is happening, someone esplain pls" where Junpei and Yosuke would be trying to hazard a few guesses about wtf is happening. Try to keep up, Ryuji, there's a lot of game to come and we need someone to puzzle through mechanics.

what the fuck is with this school, do they employ corporal punishment and this kid accidentally dropped his pencil during quiet time, what the fuck

Here’s the thing about Meg and the allegations. So like as her lawyer pointed out, this person didn’t ever file any harassment complaints either to Megan or anyone else. Now you can argue “who would he complain to” but Meg had been managed by Roc nation since 2019. Even before she blew up with Savage. So like he could have complained to their hr so there was at least a record of it.

But he didn’t. So, seriously, when did Megan get a chance to know she was making him uncomfortable?

Like I feel like ppl need to really realize that celebrities are NOT like us. They may put their pants on one leg at time like us but they don’t live like us. AT ALL. Wild and crazy parties with things we couldn’t even imagine, all types of drugs everywhere, orgies and kinky sex galore: the real lives of the rich and famous would have even the more liberal of us clutching our damn pearls.

Just like with the Lizzo case, everyone is down to party until the party stops. Especially when the party stops because of their own actions (those backup dancers were obviously bad employees who got mad they got fired for not working the way they were supposed to). Then when the party stops, they want to expose the craziness of these celebs lifestyles, KNOWING it’s supposed to be an industry secret. You want to know why a lot of celebs will go quiet or distance themselves from ppl who get these accusations? Because they don’t want the truth of what THEY get up to to also come out as a result of someone else getting outed. Ppl like “weird she told the cameraman not to say anything” like it’s not well known that anyone working with Beyonce on anything has to sign an ironclad nda and speak no evil they see. And the connection plus the money is more than enough to incentivize them to keep their mouths shut.

This guy and those background dancers got good, cushy gigs and fumbled the bag and now have to go this route after trying to extort these women didn’t work. And they both existed in a way where it’d be hard for them to get another similar gig without a good reference. And if they didn’t leave in the best terms, that’s similar to getting blacklisted. And honestly no one will want to work with them after these lawsuits so they have nothing to lose other than time by filing these lawsuits and almost everything to gain if they win or (more likely) settle out of court.

Megan herself is not a business or company, and likely didn’t hire this guy formally. And if she did, he likely knew beforehand (either was told or quickly learned) what all he’d see and be taking pictures of. And especially if he was partying with Megan, he knew what would be going on. He’s a fucking liar.

Also, America is an at-will employment country (outside Montana lol). Meaning an employer can, technically, fire you at any time and that’s their right. But it also means that as a worker, you’re allowed to quit at any time (meaning no employer can force you to stay on once you decide to quit). He wasn’t forced to do anything he didn’t want to do. If he was uncomfortable, he could have filed a complaint with Roc Nation or her old label (considering the legal issues they were having, they would have LOVED to have that to hold over her I’m sure).

He worked for her for like 4 years! When the Tory stans were dragging her, he could have came out with this to bury her. When Nicki was having a meltdown, he could have brought this up. There were so many times where Megan was getting so much hate or dealing with so much shit and he could have given her enemies ammunition then. Why not then? Why now? You spent four years watching her fuck ppl and whatever and you apparently had a huge problem all those years and never said anything?

Megan’s entire persona is she a freak. I’m supposed to believe this photographer, this MAN, got a job following her around taking pictures of her and he was surprised and shocked to see her fucking in front of him? Yeah ok. Like use your brains ppl. What makes more sense: a group of young people excited to travel the world and be as freaky as they want having fun and wild parties that sure get crazy but that’s the point, or this young woman on the come up with no real power or foot in the industry yet hiring a photographer to only professionally take pictures of her in professional settings but she’s so evil and crazy that she couldn’t help but fuck ppl in front of him and viciously harass them.

Just a note too: funny how similar these accusations are to the accusations against Lizzo. The body shaming accusations against both women is definitely a calculated choice to purposely denigrate and undermine these women as they are both known for being body positive.

Also the “hostile” work environment in very non-traditional situations; both cases use situations outside of the work setting to try to argue that the artists created a hostile environment. But like you didn’t have to go to a strip club if you were so against it. You can say “well they had to for work” but no you don’t. There was a kid at my last job who was aggressively against doing anything outside business hours with the company. He went to zero company outings, never went to the holiday party in all his 10+ years of working there, refused to have anyone from the company be a friend on fb or any social media, never went to the company picnic, etc. People didn’t even know if he had siblings or whatever because he was determined to keep work and private life separate. And that wasn’t even close to the reason he got fired lol (he was constantly late/called out all the time so it finally caught up to him lol).

My point is that if these ppl were so against the lifestyle, why do they seem so into it until they get fired/are no longer able to collect a paycheck from these celebs? You on tour, go to your hotel after a performance. No one is forcing you to the strip club. You don’t want to be around someone who drinks a lot and gets freaky when she does? Take another car to where you’re staying and leave her to her antics. There are so many pretty big names on entertainment who don’t party and aren’t on drugs and shit; if they can figure it out, I think these employees can too.

And this to me is the tell tale sign these accusations have no merit. The things they always list sound like things friends do when hanging out. Going to clubs, drinking and making out with people. I’ve been at parties with ppl making out in front of me. I’ve drunkenly made out with a girl while a friend was awkwardly standing off to the side; shit happens when you put a bunch of young people in hot rooms with alcohol.

Like the work environment (for Megan; there are a few claims from the Lizzo case—tho not the ones directed at her but at her company and choreographer—that I do think have merit) claim this guy is trying to make is weird because you first have to establish what was work and what wasn’t. I used to go on outings with my old coworkers outside of work, and I wouldn’t blame my company if one of them did something to offend me or whatever. As a photographer, I would assume you’re taking pictures in very specific circumstances. So if you’re partying outside of work or having lunch outside of work, anything Megan does you claim you don’t like isn’t a work related issue.

Similar to the stripper story from the Lizzo story (also, learning that story supposedly happened at Crazy Horse is WILD for a host of reasons that invalidates the claim even more imo), going out after work isn’t required. And they can say pressured well they want; they’re grown and if Lizzo tried to fire them for not going, THAT would be a major HR violation and terms for a lawsuit right there. It’s so obvious in both cases that these ppl were down to party and got mad when the party stopped. They got a taste of that celeb life and got drunk. They wanted more. They didn’t want to return to their regular lives. So maybe a lawsuit would get some money to keep the party going.

The music industry is particularly shady. More so than the tv/movie industry. And these ppl are barely hiding it these days. The little bit we see we can bet the reality is that to the ♾️ power. And anyone getting into music knows that and has to decide how they want to navigate it. The very nature of these lawsuits and their allegations seem less about someone seeking justice (like we see in cases like, let’s say, the Diddy lawsuits) and more like someone trying to tear down a woman’s reputation.

Because with Diddy and R Kelly and the sort who get called out on these, it’s rarely a shock. Few ppl in general are living entirely separate double lives; that shit would be exhausting. Ppl been knew about Kelly; people been knew about Diddy. The lawsuits and documentaries and shit just exposed what we already knew/suspected. And based on their personalities and personas, there’s no real reason to doubt it.

But with these, notice how the accusations are not just surprising giving the nature, but how they specifically contradict the image the celebrity is portraying. Lizzo doing fat positivity but she’s actually not fat positive to others (despite making a point to hire big dancers but sure). Megan is all positive but she fat shamed me and told me not to eat! She’s so mean! Funny that.

It seems to me that these ppl have a vested interest tearing down these women’s reputation and shaming them. Or, at least, are leveraging their reputations to get some payouts, assuming they’d rather do that then fight this in court.

Also, and idc who hates this, but Johnny Depp, a man with a known and long recorded history of violence and drug and alcohol abuse, was able to convince the world his mostly unknown wife was the one abusing HIM by twisting moments she was trying to defend herself against her. And the world fell for it. Many still believe it because they didn’t do any real research, nor looked at the unsealed records that mostly support what Amber claimed. And it worked because ppl love to hate women and will find any reason too. And people have beef with Megan for unhinged and loser reasons. Meaning they will jump on this to vilify her immediately. And that’s what this asshole was banking on. That’s what all these people are banking on: that our hatred of women will lead to us harassing these women the way the world did Amber and get them to yield.

Johnny Depp started a trend of men (and the gender traitors) filing lawsuits against women to attack their character and force them to do what they want. And the threat is obvious: give me what I want or end up blacklisted, hated, and ostracized like Amber. And because everyone hates women, you idiots will fall for it every time.

Believe women means you believe them even when they’re being accused. Y’all are really not ready for real female solidarity. We’re never making it out the patriarchy.

There is something I want to bring up for your consideration that's been bouncing around in my head. When Hansuke mentioned that it was hard for him to get into medical school despite his excellent grades, people concluded that Yui must have stood in his way and Hansuke's mother probably made a deal with her, correct? That felt like such a relevant tidbit that will come up again, because otherwise why the effort to draw those panels. So... I think there might be a parallel to Nol here. We know he is going to spend the 4 year time skip abroad, right? But how will he get there, when Yui is so opposed to it and needs to keep him under her thumb? So 🤔 I've been thinking maybe Rand makes a similar deal with Yui so she lets Nol go. Not sure what the details of the deal will be, but it could even be something like "I'll get the kid into any school he wants if you step down from the CEO position within the next 5 years and let Kousuke take over, and don't plot anything against me ever again". It's a big sacrifice, but it feels like Rand had some extremely harsh realizations about how miserable Nol is after finding his scarf in the pool, and then finding him bleeding in the snow and the Ivan the Terrible reference. It feels so much like he has reached his end, "it's not my message to pass along anymore" felt so pointed. I also keep thinking about how guilty Rand must be feeling. He didn't only fail his own son, he failed to protect NESSA'S CHILD ;A; someone so precious and important to her, someone she loved so dearly. Even if it was unspoken it's clear that she counted on Rand to take care of their son when she couldn't anymore, and he failed her miserably. Gawd just thinking about that makes me wanna cry 😔😭💔 So maybe this will be what pushes him to step up and actually do something useful for his child, maybe that deal will be his self-sacrifice. What are your thoughts on this? I know I might be reaching, it might be Yu Jing's article that will help Nol go abroad, and I'm very aware of the death flags surrounding Rand, and maybe he'll just die or Yui kills him and that's that. With Kousuke having all these realizations it's not unlikely that Yui gets rid of Rand so they don't become allies. But I don't want his death to be so... pointless, I guess? BE A FATHER EVEN IF JUST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE DAMMIT ;A;

On a lighter but similarly emotional note, when do you think Shinae and Nol are going to be on a first/real name basis? It might be just me but I feel like it's coming 👀 It's been said a thousand times (and good, let's manifest it 🤞🏾) that they must be on the same page by the end of season 1 for the story to flow smoothly. And that must include the names as well, right? Because the names are a big part of the distance between them and to Shinae, "Yeonggi" isn't enough anymore, she wants "Nol". And, in theory, he must first accept his name before he is comfortable with her saying it, but maybe the other way around would work better. If he lets her into the circle of people who can call him Nol even if he isn't completely ready for it, maybe that will actually be the important first step to accept himself. Because if Shinae accepts that side of him and doesn't think he's horrible, then he can't be that horrible, right. Basically a you don't have to love yourself for other people to love you and with time you can see yourself through their eyes and find that everything you dislike about yourself doesn't make you unlovable because they love you regardless type of thing. Does that make sense? I hope you understand what I'm trying to get at 😅 He also doesn't want to be vulnerable and open up as Yeonggi, it's not part of that persona. But maybe once she is on the Nol side for good, he can be more honest, because she is already there so why not. Not that he'll immediately tell her everything, obviously, but just be more honest dude just tell her that you're scared and not ready for certain conversations yet instead of putting up a front! But either way regardless of when, the moment they say each others first/real names is going to be SOOOOOO meaningful so vulnerable so intimate I will simply die on the spot I will just explode 💥 -lil anon 😼 (who still can't keep their messages short)

Oooohhhh this is such an interesting thought that I HAVEN'T thought about, but I HAVE been thinking a lot about Rand (I have this messy post in the works about him because as much as he makes me angry I find him really interesting in that, like every other character, he is very much someone trying to survive and his struggles to do so have had a lot of ramifications - especially in failing to protect his son with Nessa. I understand why people hate him but I just have SO MANY FEELINGS and like how... maybe a selfish part of him kept him near, even if he couldn't be a good father to him because of Yui, because he reminded him of her, and how maybe as Nol grows up he continues to see so much of himself in him, and how in Rand's eyes that probably is bad because he very much ended up trapped, he very much lost what he loved, he has very much lived in isolation. But that's a whole other thing but the point is: Rand is on my mind so this is a very welcome question!!!!)

I'd never considered the possibility of a parallel because I guess I'd just sort of assumed that information was given to us to show us how far Yui is willing to go, that she was interfering with her own nephew's career in order to - probably - lord something over her sister, to force her to do whatever it was she wanted, that we are meant to further understand that Yui is so unstoppable even her own sisters can't do anything, and that this isn't the first time Hansuke's career has been on the line. BUT WITH THAT SAID it would make an incredibly interesting parallel! I think in a lot of ways Rand did think he was doing what was right, what he could do. I think a lot about what he said when Nol pleaded guilty, about how he should have sent him away to a boarding school and that as much as a lot of that was said out of actual anger and agitation, at the end of the day Rand cares so much because he loves Nol, even if he was never allowed to act on it, even if he had to repress it and keep it bottled away where it began to fester. Something I think a lot about parenthood in general but esp in ILY is that no one has the foresight to know how things will work out, so parents are doing what they think is best. Often they are wrong, they make mistakes, but again, we are only capable of trying to learn from our mistakes, we can't see how things would play out. Would Nol have been safer at boarding school? Would he have actually been out of Yui's reach? But that's a whole other post (that is coming)

THAT SAID I think yes Rand carries a lot of guilt and knows that he has not been able to protect either of his sons the way he wishes he could have and now he is at this sort of.... fork in the road. Until now, Nol was so very alone, has been surrounded by people who can't be trusted, people of this society who would sell him out immediately. But Rand has seen in Shinae and Nol this connection that maybe he even recognizes much like the one he and Nessa had, that Shinae is very much like she was in her willingness to reach out to and protect Nol, her willingness to stand up for him against even the scariest opponents. In the same night he nearly lost his son, he saw how many people rallied around him, were willing to stand by his side and wait for him to wake up and I think that, yes, it gave him this sense of understanding. Nol is no longer alone, and while it's not him at his side, he knows that the people who are will fight for him, are people who truly love him the way he deserved all this time. And I think that's yes why he is willing to transition out of Nol's life - because he knows that he hasn't been able to provide him the protection he needs. That he CAN'T.

And the idea of him sacrificing himself for Nol's sake (and frankly, Kousuke's, too) would be interesting, because I very much think Shinae will "sacrifice" herself to Yui in order to protect her father, will take up Yui's offer if it means keeping away from her family. What an interesting parallel it would be, too, for both of these people who have put themselves in harms way to protect those they love (I know Rand doesn't seem it, but I think he is a person who has very much been a victim of him circumstances and that he has reached a point in this story that he is willing to get hurt to protect them, that he is finally openly fighting back the way he can in an effort to protect them).

I honestly.... HATE the theory about Rand dying even though the death flags are everywhere lmao ;_____; I feel like I'm constantly closing my eyes to them because I cannot bear to think of what it would mean for both Nol and Kousuke, for neither of them to get that closure. I hate the thought of Nol being left a literal orphan, of Kousuke never knowing that he was loved, like it KILLS ME but it really feels like we're hurtling there and aflkjkafjkafjkaf [SCREAMS] I'd so much prefer that like... Rand have a heart attack that incapacities him or something ;A; - especially because Nana has her own death flags and again, the thought of Nol just being left with NONE of his family?! GOD THAT KILLS ME.

But also I am very much in favor of Rand making such a sacrifice. Something I've been thinking about is that a lot of why Rand's hands were tied was because he was trying to get this far - and now that he has, now that Nol is in safe hands, maybe it IS time to make a sacrifice, to step out of Nol's life and "set him free", if he could give Yui something she wants enough to let Nol go. The thing is.... Yui is very much aware of the effect Nol has on Kousuke, and why it's necessary to keep him around, but perhaps with what Kousuke is learning, that won't remain a matter? I think there is a LOT that is up in the air right now, but I do think we are at a point where Rand COULD make that kind of offer, where he can finally face Yui and fight back in his own way and do something to set his son free of all of this. I think I lean more sympathetic to Rand than most do but I would love to see him take an action that can actually demonstrate to Nol that Rand has always cared, that until now he didn't have other options, that until now he'd thought that this was the safest route.

(But honestly? What was ;__________;)

I think Nol and Shinae's story is VERY MUCH a matter of like.... yeah, you don't have to love yourself to be loved, that's bullshit, we all know it's not true. That maybe you can learn to love yourself by being loved. That maybe through the process of being loved you can start to see yourself through their eyes, the version of yourself that they see and love and that it can make that version of you come to life. That even though Nol sees himself as this unworthy monster, that he has been made to feel like he's nothing, a nobody - she can show him that he's something, somebody, she can say his name with an affection that no one else has ever said it with, that she can breathe new life to something that was taken from him and ruined.

I think we VERY much are approaching that point and Nol learning that Yui has been drugging even Kousuke honestly may be the beginning (or again I might just be being very hopeful). I keep reiterating that Nol needs to know this goes beyond him. I want Shinae to get to sit down and talk to him - not just about their feelings but about Yui, that even before Yui knew about their attachments, that she was already put through hell. Tell him about Kousuke's birthday, something that shows Nol even if he leaves Yui already has her claws in her, was already interested even before it involved him. Tell him about the offer because she will end up taking it one way or another and it's better than he knows how, so he's reminded how much she hates this woman, too.

And maybe if Nol can see that it's more than just him, maybe he can see that there is no point in pushing her away. And if that isn't enough, maybe she can convince him how very much they can't ignore any of this, to prove to him how badly she wants to know him, Nol, to see him and meet those secret parts of him he doesn't want anyone to say. To say the name that has felt like a lashing so many times used by everyone else in a way that takes it from nothing to something and makes him want to hear it move. To say her name again and be so familiar (so SO familiar god PLEASE) ;A;

Like IDK I know we've had this conversation a LOT lmao but it just feels like it's two steps forward five steps back if we don't get that closure if they don't have that talk. No one is asking for or expecting him to share everything - to just open up enough to show that he wants to. To admit his fear. If Shinae saw what Dieter did, that kind of fear, how intense it is, and couldn't connect it to what has happened to her, maybe she could get through to him better but at this point she just doesn't know, doesn't understand why he's pushing her. Maybe now that she's realized her own feelings - and can maybe wonder about his - it might make her think of what he said in the alley about fear and people getting hurt but it's a conversation they need to have directly.

And yes, I feel like even from a metaphorical point, he cannot begin to open up as Yeonggi, as this nameless person. They cannot begin anew with her uncertain what to call him, not allowed to use his real name, while he still calls her Yoo. What's he gonna do, maul her and swallow her heart and still call her Yoo? PLEASE. NO.

I feel like it MUST be coming, that some kind of understanding will be coming, even if they know they are separating for a while, even if they know that whatever is between them isn't something that can happen right now, I feel like they HAVE to separate on a true first name basis, right? ;A;!!!!!!!!!

okay I love reading your posts about ryo expies because it's such a fun topic, so i have to know: out of the main ones (like kaworu, joshua, komaeda etc) how do you think ryo himself would react to them? or alternatively, who's the favorite child

Okay first things first ((*lying on my bed with my face in a pillow kicking my legs in the air*))

Anyways

Hmm… This is kind of tough, because I feel like Ryo's opinions on a lot of them would differ depending on when in the story we're talking about. Like, I think amnesiac-Ryo would probably gravitate towards the kinder expies and would be more quick to criticize their actions, and Ryo with all his Satan memories but before wiping out humanity and killing Akira would refer the more cynical ones willing to take extreme action for their convictions. Post-OG ending Ryo would probably fall somewhere around the midpoint, having come to realize how he lost sight of his initial compassion and the kindness that drew him to Akira, but also understanding why someone could end up doing things like that.

There's also the question of whether you interpret Ryo's favourite trait as kindness, devotion to goals no matter the cost, or the entertainment value of being unhinged. It probably depends on his moods, really. This is all very subjective, so I don't think there's a single right answer.

Kaworu:

I think at all points Ryo would like how easily he empathizes with others, and that he has the balls to just be flat out incredibly gay with Shinji. He would probably would find him overly idealistic about humanity when he has his memories as Satan and hasn't killed Akira yet, but would come around to appreciate that again the way he would have during amnesiac-Ryo times. Could definitely be amnesiac-Ryo's favourite before demons show up. Kinda has the least objectionable traits of any Ryo and has this aura about him that makes you either want to be around him or want to be him, which I don't think Ryo would be immune to.

Joshua:

Loves him and find him hilarious for his shithead behaviour. I think he's the expy that comes the closest to Ryo's actions with the least consequences, since he's kind of able to fix almost everything pretty seamlessly, so Ryo might be envious of that. All of the fussy Ryos would probably be critical of each other's fussiness, Ryo @ Joshua included, but the fun of hanging out with him when he's getting up to shit outweighs it.

Komaeda:

He retains the kind of unhinged messy anxiety freakout 24/7 moments that amnesiac Ryo has more than any other expy I know of, which... I think Ryo would sympathize with enough for it to not be too hard to deal with? I definitely do think he'd like Komaeda in theory, but I'm not sure how them interacting would actually go. He's probably way better at deductions and elaborate schemes than Ryo himself actually is, and willing to just Do Shit, so I think he'd like him for that, but the hope/despair luck cycles can be... difficult to deal with irl when you're just trying to chill.

Homura:

Beloved rare daughter. Honestly, she has probably the overall coolest aura of any expy, especially in a lesbian goth way (which is, like, bonus points). I feel like she's what amnesiac post-demon-knowledge Ryo wants to be like but as a twink. Definitely likes her determination to save Madoka and the lengths she's willing to go for it, including understanding her actions in Rebellion. I think he'd like her a lot, but idk if I can really see them, like, hanging out casually much.

Akechi: (Had mixed responses on if Akechi was major or not, but at the very least p5 is popular enough rn that I felt I should include him.)

Probably one of the ones he has more mixed feelings on. Ryo would find his Prince persona grating for how fake and good boy it is, but when he's being a snippy bitch and enjoying killing shadows or whatever? Hell yeah. Go crazy go stupid. Might get on Ryo's nerves when he's being particularly fussy and cynical though, because I don't think Ryo really enjoys that in company. He particularly sees himself in Goro's sense of what carrying out "justice" looks like and the lengths he'd go to to get revenge on his piece of shit father, but I don't think he'd approve of Goro carrying out hits for Shido for so long as part of his plan instead of opposing him outright.

Bakura: Okay so I'm not actually qualified to answer this since I've only seen ygo s0 and I haven't gotten around to reading the manga yet, so in my stead here's opinions from @firstproqenitor and @mochiies. Fuck you Mikael for being funnier than all of us.

[Mikael]: okay so the problem is that yami bakura doesnt really have any sense of morality, so he and yami bakura wouldnt really get along well. I think they would stare at eachother, ryo in like a quiet contemplation as he takes a drag off a cigarette and yami bakura just having a shit eating grin. Ryo notices that Bakura is dressed eerily like he is, before yami bakura blurts out something about how if they formed an alliance they could destroy the world, and ryo blows smoke in his face, returns the shit eating grin, then says something like "you know what your problem is? you lack subtlety" and then turns and leaves. As for who Ryo's least favourite is, I think it'd be Light, hands-down. There isn't really anything about him Ryo would like: a cop, a prep, spoiled by lifelong privilege, uncritically accepts the societal rules he's been fed and furthers them in the most extreme way possible, and let's be real, he's not as smart as he thinks he is. That said, he is very fun to bully. I don't think Ryo would be very fond of the expies that cross the line into things like sexual assault and grooming either, though.

Something that I kind of wonder about with Ed and Em in season 1, did Odalia actually get mad at them like she would Amity?

I'm just thinking about what causes them to get in trouble with her during COTH and that they are too very different beasts. Amity gets grounded for hiding behind the trash; twins get in trouble for trying to burn down the factory. Odalia refers to them as little scamps for trying to steal the airship and seems to think that Amity was the bad influence on them.

So, I can't help but wonder if Odalia just has different standards for for two groups of children. Ed and Em are a unit in her mind and Amity is a different one. She seems more controlling of Amity's life than she does of the twins (who her friends can and can't be, her grades, what coven she will join, etc.). Because that can happen with abusive parents, where no matter what one child gets in trouble for everything while the other children can do no wrong.

I can't help but wonder if Amity was fed up with any little thing getting her in trouble while the twins I think most likely got a slap on the wrist for skipping classes.

I mean, they probably COULD get away with more, but with the whole "Aw, scamps :)" thing I do wonder how much of that is "trained herself into saving her abusiveness for private" because she also didn't get publicly angry in "Escaping Expulsion" when Amity ruined the show, she waited for the guests to be gone before yelling at her to save face. Haha, kids, amirite? But I'm a good, benevolent mother :)

I do think probably Ed and Em were held to a different standard than Amity though, for sure. In part because they built up a "mischievous carefree twins" persona that is WILDLY popular, so it would be BAD for the Blight image if they were to be more like Amity: suddenly studious, hard workers who hang out in a small clique that is above everyone else. BECAUSE they were twins, they were already part of a "set." Odalia carefully selected and pushed Amity into being part of a "set" with Boscha and the rest, she cultivates the image Amity has, but Ed and Em were already a convenient package. Instead of pressuring them to be friends with the "right" people, they're pressured into always being around each other, instead.

Unlike with Amity and her "friends" they actually ENJOY each other's company, but we see frustrations and problems in the relationship as well, with Edric being supper attached to Emira and Emira expressing frustration that she'll always be "stuck" with Edric. We don't look at their relationship as being pressured by Odalia to the exclusion of others like we do with the Amity/Boscha/Willow debacle because, again, they actually like being around each other, but make no mistake, Odalia is controlling their social circle as much as she controls Amity's.

It would also look bad if she were to quash their "mischievous side," since that's part of their persona. This actually allows her to sort of infantilize them. Like you pointed out, trying to burn down the factory and commit grand theft auto got them "aw, scamps :)" She is purposely demeaning their actions as childish pranks to take away their autonomy. Burning down the factory is a SERIOUS THING. Trying to steal the blimp is a SERIOUS THING. If Odalia treats it like it isn't, like they did it not as an act of actual rebellion, a well thought out plan to stop her, but as another simple prank, well, that's FRUSTRATING. On the one hand, not being actively PUNISHED more than for a prank doesn't exactly discourage them from trying again, but on the other hand, if even your greatest efforts and your angriest attempt to stand up is treated as "just a prank," that's discouraging as all get out, like nothing you do is ever going to be enough, nothing you're doing even fazes her.

Odalia is a showman, a marketer. Her family has to be bland, perfect, consumable to the public. So Ed and Em must lean into the "part of a set: do not separate" twin stereotype, and then stick to their mischievous persona and Amity must have her own group of socialite friends and stick to her "top student" persona, which requires stricter parenting and tighter, more obtrusive control than the "mischievous scamps" persona.

And that's probably part of the reason Amity ratted them out. She sees that they don't get punished like she does, like you said, getting off with a slap on the wrist. And she WANTS THEM TO. She's angry and frustrated and hurt and she looks at these older twins who are perfect and can do no wrong despite all of the wrongs they are OBVIOUSLY DOING and while Odalia probably WILL let them off with a slap on the wrist, she wants so very badly to not always be the scapegoat.

I made a post a while ago about a free of Belos Hunter getting super jealous when other people are complimented, even if it isn't to his detriment, and having the immediate instinct to try to tear them down to build himself up. I think Amity had a similar instinct when it came to the twins (Key word being "had"). We saw it already when Willow did better than her in abominations (although for her there was probably also another motivator in her parents not being pleased with her losing top student status). And her telling their parents about the twins skipping school was also evidence of that. She wants them to get in trouble like she gets in trouble so that she's not the only one, and while they probably DIDN'T, so it's not a "big deal," it's still a "h u h" kind of thing in pointing at her early personality, where she was a bully, and how her parents hurting her the way they did shaped her, and then how she was able to GROW once she got some positive interactions in her life.

And it's just SO AWESOME how far she's come, how far ED AND EM have come and seeing their relationships shift and change. With Ed and Em, it was mainly the shock, again, of their actions having real consequences that nearly got their sister KILLED (whereas before their pranks would get them a slap on the wrist from Odalia and were relatively harmless; real consequence equals change in behavior), and with Amity, it was learning to, well, not see everything as an opportunity to justify existing, and surrounding herself with people who wouldn't make her feel like that.

Anyway, I know I don't talk about Amity or Ed and Em much on my blog, but they are just. Their development is so important to me.

"BOJACK HORSEMAN" SEEN FROM PSYCHOANALYTIC CRITICISM

Bojack Horseman (2014). Sigmund Freud's reflections on psychoanalysis and human behavior have always been considered curious and controversial —to say the least. On his book, Introduction to Psychoanalysis (1916), he first talks about this idea that enforces us to believe that the origin of the individual unconscious lies on the notion humans have of where all their pain come from: this place being experiences and emotions, fears and sick desires that never really have a chance to come out. (page 12, Tyson L., 2015.) The psyche becomes the through key to understanding where it all begins, how it develops, and why it is so hard to make it stop.

Bojack Horseman —an animated Netflix series that walks us through the life and struggle of a burn-out TV star on Hollywood, that gets constantly involved in drama, suicidal idealism, alcoholism and many more (very harmful) isms, is not only a story that critics the entretainment industry, but also takes its time to destroy its main character by giving it the most profound, raw and rotten wounds one can find in their own unconscious.

“One day you’re gonna look around and realize that everybody loves you but nobody likes you. And that is the loneliest feeling in the world.” From B. H. Season 3, Episode 5.

Along the story, we see Bojack and various other characters around him get dragged into uncomfortable situations as a consequence of Bojack's unfortunate —and egotistical— decision making. His past experiences with various losses and heavily repressed family trauma have broken him to the point he’s become a selfish, narcissistic individual, that even when he tries to be good, he can’t seem to find in himself any kindness to give out to the world. The self-definition Bojack internalized of his persona as he grew up, led him to hate his own mind and actions the same way he used to hate and avert from his mother and father’s relationship towards him, and each other. (page 14, Tyson L., 2015.)

“All the damage I got isn’t good damage. It’s just damage.” From B. H. Season 6, Episode 2.

Not recognizing where all the damage that he’s gotten has come from only keeps him on reliving the same cycle of abuse, depression and chaos that plagues his life and the ones of those around him. Until one can not acknowledge the root of our deep unresolved conflicts, we’re doomed to live in despair, feeling no longer worthy of being considered even humans. Bojack’s selective perception and memory reflect from his trauma, and in a way protects hi, from it, guiding him to a life full of denial and a constant feeling of displacement. (page 15, Tyson L., 2015.)

Only when he starts to recognize, remember and share everything he’s gone through, is that he finally starts to heal. But sometimes, healing is just not enough, and for him, the thanatos (page 22, Tyson L., 2015) consumes his heart little by little, regret by regret, sins and mistakes crawling on his back as he tries to enmed them on a daydream of repentance. His relationship with death is an inharmonious one, that comes from guilt and tastes like old cigarettes and cheap liquor, the same bitter way they would taste to a child that’s been forced to try them.

Where did we go wrong? When is it too late? Is there any way for anyone to really be saved?

It might be a good idea to start with taking a look at the terrifying parts of ourselves we’re too scared to even meet.

And maybe then, we should all think about how meaningless everything turns out to be,

when you finally realize that there is no other side.

Could you give more depth to the social links,most of them only Focus on Their disease

Well, for most, I don't have a solid idea. But I can give an idea for what's going on for the main cast, and a couple others. And I'll focus on just their links with the MC (if you'll reference the post the other day about everyone having links with others as well), because I haven't actually come up with ideas for those sorts of links yet.

Sayaka and Yudai aren't hard set yet. For Sayaka it's because any big, character defining moments would happen near the end of the story, in association to her dungeon. I imagine for her, it would be very vague allusions to how she felt going through so many foster families. Yudai's will prooooobably focus on teaching the MC to cook, helping out at his family's diner, how he's different from the expectation of him. (In the way that the natural perception of big people is that they're lazy, uncool, etc.)

Miyako's I have a little clearer picture of. The first rank is story unlocked right after her dungeon, and you find out about her older brother committing suicide six years earlier due to his own mental issues. Throughout the links, one of Miyako's aunts comes to Kamida to try to convince her to move to the city to be with her distant family. Miyako debates on it, until she finds out why her parents never had contact with their extended family. They're terrible people, basically, and didn't want their children to grow up around that. So she stays in Kamida.

Masahiko is another one that I'm not totally sure of the entire thing yet. I think I'd like it to explore his relationship with his dad, and the comparison there. Masahiko is a narcissist, but it was something encouraged when he was younger and now, after his dungeon, he's actively seeking help. His father on the other hand does the whole "I'm in the right, everyone is wrong, everything has to go my way or no way at all) gaslighting thing. Masahiko was on the receiving end of that in his childhood now, and despite his 'holier-than-thou" attitude towards most everyone else, he's very... timid isn't the right word, but it's close enough, when next to his father. Though, now taking a second look on various social links in the different Persona games, that might just be subtext through various social links.

Hoshiko's is going to have her dealing with her bullies. Getting manipulated into doing others' homework, taking over their cleaning duties, giving them money, free items from her father's store. By the end of it, Hoshiko stands up for herself.

For Jun, I'm thinking he goes to the MC, asking them to come over to his house and lie to his siblings for him. He's trying to make his older brother worry less about him. He keeps his princely persona up even at home, to avoid his brother worrying about him. Until his latest stint that got him suspended, his brother had been under the assumption that Jun was a well behaved, straight A student. He wants you to back up his story about that. Throughout it you find out the fight that actually got him suspended from school was started because some jerks were harassing a mama bird and her eggs, throwing bricks at them and shit, and managing to break a couple before Jun stopped them. While his reaction was totally out of line, seeing that had triggered his explosive episode. (Jun was very protective of these birds. I haven't come up with the reason for that yet) Anyway, by the end of his link with the MC, he comes clean to his brothers on what really transpired and what goes on during school. To which both brothers are like "Yeah, we already knew, you knucklehead." Jun's apologies to the people he needs to apologize to will happen in their own separate links. Which I will get to in just a minute.

In Shinju's link, the MC starts out tasked to help her with general, everyday things. Getting up to the classroom on the third floor, getting through the admittedly cramped house they live in, going grocery shopping. But while Shinju does admit to certain things she's scared of (being caught on the third floor of the school if it catches on fire, being her biggest fear), she's not invalid. There's plenty she can do on her own and doesn't need help for, no matter what other people say. This one isn't about Shinju learning anything about herself, it's just proving to everyone else what she already knows. This one I've mentioned is story locked, ranking up on certain days after you've completed certain events. And right near the end of it is her dungeon, in which she is rewarded with a more practical wheelchair, specifically made for her, making it even easier to get around and do things on her own. During one of the ranks, the MC moves some of the kitchen things around so Shinju can reach them better, but that's all I've got on specificies. (If you haven't been ranking up with Yudai at all and getting his cooking lessons, she'll tease you for being a better cook than you.)

Avis/Baby Avis are functionally two different characters... except for this. They'll both take the MC to explore the Endless Forest, explaining Shadows and Corruptions and trying to find the source of the MC's unique healing ability. One of the paths they take will lead to seeing the other MC in passing, though no direct conversation. (Depending on when you play through that link, a new player might not yet know the MC used to have a twin and the other one is dead) Nearing the end, like at the 7th rank, you'll also meet a girl who's a few decades from the past. She isn't a Persona user, but found she has a similar ability to the MC's. She's also been looking for the answer, and swears to meet the two of you again once she find it. However, she isn't there in rank 8, nor in rank 9. Rank 9 all you'll find is a note nailed to a tree, signed with the letter M. There's not much to learn about Avis herself. She's a phoenix. She was born and reborn in the Endless Forest. She's a guide for Persona users like the MC, those specially chosen. But she is one and only and cannot be everywhere at once, hence the reason she's only appeared in front of this MC.

I don't really have a clear cut thing for... really any of the side characters with the MC, but as I was writing these down, ideas for some side social links came to me, so I'll those here.

Hoshiko/Jun: After their unfortunate fallout in middle school, they've struggled to reconnect, especially after Jun's poor attitude after Hoshiko rejects him. Jun starts out with an apology. Several times. Because Hoshiko is too scared of him at first to believe him. Then there's the eventual awkward rekindling. Then an event that sparks Hoshiko's hidden nagging/sarcastic streak, and something from Jun's side too but it's late and I don't know. After that, they're back to being good friends.

Shinju/Jun: Shinju is one of the few people Jun has never been a dick to. He routinely is the one to carry her to her classroom at the beginning of the day. Despite the fact they don't act much like friends until Jun joins the team, he's not a dick. Which is to say, their social link doesn't start off with him apologizing. And when I say "never been a dick" I mean "never before this social link" because he does call Shinju out for "acting weak and helpless when that's bullshit" in a not so nice way. Theirs is a lot of... back and forth, nothing really deep. Some hangouts between rekindled friends. (I think this one would be locked until Hoshiko does accept his apology and forgives him, because despite having never done anything to Shinju, Hoshiko is her best friend)

Miyako/Jun: Miyako wants Jun to help her study, because he's consistently the first in class grade wise. Jun says he's never studied a day in his life, so he's no help. Miyako finds out this is true after a failed study session, in which Jun ends up failing their next quiz because of, proving it did the opposite effect. Miyako ends up having to teach Jun how to study and apply himself, while Jun is doing his own teaching of "it's really not that deep"

Jun/Masahiko: Assholes being assholes to each other. Jun tries to out-asshole Masahiko with his princely person, but Masahiko is actually that elegant and eloquent, so ends up failing. So they end up going to head to head with their own unique brand of assholery. Masahiko finds a new appreciation for Jun's true self (and perhaps a little crush) if cards are played right, as Jun does go and chew out Masahiko's dad for the way he treats Masahiko. (This would probably be the only time something like that happens, as in Masahiko's link with the MC, Masahiko would confront his dad himself)

And... yeah. That's all I've go floating around right now. They need refined, some need thought off. If you think of these in forms of drafts, this is Draft 0. General, mostly nonsensical ideas. I hope that was somewhat satisfactory.

🍉 Do you prefer to write short fics or long fics? Multichaptered works or single ones? Why?

I tend to go for oneshots, although the length of said oneshots can get... a little out of hand... 😅 I like to write stories that mainly focus on one event, or else several short connected scenes, because it's very easy for me to get bogged down in small details and ruin the pacing of a longer work that's trying to have a more fleshed-out overarching plot, y'know? I do still like to meddle in chapter fics from time to time, though!

🍌 In your opinion, what’s the funniest joke/reference/pun you’ve made in a fic?

I'm not one to crack many outright jokes in my fics, but I do try to sprinkle some humor throughout. I suppose what came to mind first was the moments from my akimina fic where Akihiko briefly wonders which ones are called stalagmites and which ones are stalactites, but doesn't ask Mitsuru because he knows she'll make fun of him if he does, only for Junpei to ask a minute later and immediately be made fun of. Poor guy, lmao

He is my everything and here are my headcanons that I do not shut up about in my fics <3

He's an extremely focused person, but his focus is the kind of hyperfocus where he gets tunnel vision and becomes extremely inattentive to his surroundings. So he can focus on things like battle or studying with ease, but he can come off as a little airheaded at times because he's filtering out everything else. ADHD king, what can I say?

He worries about the others, much like the other members of the Senpai Squad do, but his form of looking out for them involves more pushing them to be prepared than anything. For instance, if one of the other members of SEES were to get sick, while Mitsuru might call a doctor and Shinjiro might bring them medicine, Akihiko would be the type to start getting on them to get more vitamins, eat fruit, get exercise, are they getting enough sleep?, etc. Or, if they get hurt in battle, he might start pushing them to train or spar with him more often once they've recovered.

Similar to the above, he tends to take on a lot of responsibility, sometimes unnecessarily. So, while he might get on the others to train hard for battle, if they get injured, he'll be beating himself up about it -- not just for the fact that he couldn't protect them in the moment, but for the fact that he didn't get on their case even more about training. If they're unprepared, he thinks of that as his problem.

He can be very picky with his food. But some of the foods that he can tolerate are utterly unhinged. Read: whole lemons inside rice balls. My mans will eat straight protein powder without even mixing it into anything but he doesn't like burgers because the texture's weird. Autistic king, what can I say?

I think he has burn scars on his hands from the orphanage burning down in his childhood, which is part of the reason he wears gloves. :'(

Generally, he's not goaded very easily, but one trick that works on him almost without fail is to imply that he's "chickening out" or "being a wimp" when he refuses to do whatever stupid shit you're trying to goad him into. Competitive Nature Activated; Common Sense Immediately Discarded.

so basically I was wondering do u have any tips on can someone know for sure if they have alters or if it is regular fluctuating singlet identity or personas/ocs/etc? what does an unstable or fluctuating singlet identity look like compared to a system switching through alters? when u only know two possible alters how can one know more when no communication method has worked? and is it normal for one alter to stay at the front for a long time and just not think about whose fronting and such and still be a system? how did u figure it out if u are okay with sharing..when is it ok to say ur a system even if u researched for years? does having multiple names that seem to have different personalities/aesthetics/people that look different attached to them and u use them based on who u feel like mean u have alters or do singlets who use multiple names also get that? maybe u feel like one name for a week use that then change it bc u feel like a different name… also do u have to have dissociation all the time to have it? can dissociation also include numbness/changing of emotions? can memory loss/amnesia look like feeling like the days before u were a dark void and u can’t remember everything or the months and weeks before except for some big things maybe but when u do switch u arent like at a loss for what u were doing before u switched alters also how can u tell if u are FixtionKin or have a fictive especially when that kin came about at a traumatic time and u felt 100% like the character.

let me try to answer these like one at a time and break it down. let me start by saying every system experiences things differently! no two systems are exactly alike in their experiences

also im going to answer these from the basis of DID and OSDD. i don’t know enough about endogenic systems to speak on their behalf

(also small note, it’s preferred by many systems to say “my headmate” rather than “my alter” and similar things. saying “my alter” implies that you own your headmates, but they’re their own individuals!)

first question: given that DID/OSDD develops with the purpose of the host not knowing about it, it’ll be hard to realize why you behave in certain ways. it’s entirely possible that your identity is fluctuating and that could cause some behavior differences, but it is also possible that another alter is fronting (i can think of many instances in high school where i behaved in a strange way and just thought i was blending in with classmates but it’s possible someone else was fronting)

i can’t really give a cut and dry answer on how to tell the difference between a fluctuating identity and alters switching out, but maybe during moments where you feel that sort of shift in demeanor, you could do some introspection? hope this helps!

question two: i also struggle with system communication, i can only think of a few instances where i was able to hear what my headmates were saying and it was because of the sheer number of voices overlapping one another. i wish i knew how to help with communication, but if you’re patient, im sure your other headmates will introduce themselves when they’re ready!

question three: this is absolutely possible! plenty of systems have “quiet moments”, and im actually having one right now! i think a lot of people refer to it as being “front stuck” and it happens to not only hosts but other alters!

question four: i figured it out years ago and it’s kind of a blur, but my headmate abbie introduced herself and started talking on my tumblr main. i can’t remember if i started researching systems before or after that, but either way that kinda cinched it for me haha

question five: if you’ve done a lot of research and have an understanding of what it means to be a system, self diagnosis is more than valid! don’t let anyone tell you you can’t self diagnose if you’re educated on the topic

question six: that’s a toughie ngl. i use multiple names and have a unique connection to each of them and i guess it’s entirely possible that at least some of them could be due to headmates’ names that i don’t know about. that’s a hard one to answer! haha

question seven: dissociation is a requirement to have DID and OSDD but i don’t think you have to be in a constantly dissociated state. the amount of dissociation can definitely fluctuate. and dissociation definitely causes numbness when it reaches a certain level, at least for me! as for emotions, i feel kinda… blank when im really dissociated. like a clean slate i guess?

question eight: memory loss is the dividing point between DID and OSDD. if your amnesia is a complete blackout where you can’t remember anything during certain periods of time, that’s DID. if your amnesia feels more like… blurry snippets of memory that you can kinda recall but not in full clarity, that’s OSDD

question nine: you can be fictionkin and have a fictive headmate! im a virgil sanders fictionkin and there are quite a few virgil fictives in the system! it may be hard to differentiate between kinshifts and fictives fronting at times (been there) but both experiences are valid regardless!!

Yeah, it’s a well-known space. I’m trying not to dox myself entirely lmao so I won’t give the name, but it’s a museum right next to The Landmark of the city. It was commissioned by this eccentric multi-billionaire to store everything he collected, and he picked this architect famous for designing wild looking buildings, so even when work sucks, at least it’s a very cool place to go every day.

You’re a social worker, that’s amazing! What got you into that? And do you work directly with the people utilizing the services? Or do you do, like, community outreach or something? I admire people who go into careers specifically to help people, I think that’s really amazing of you.

Shownu in his 30s is such a father figure type, it’s so funny. Like, he should be hot, and he is on stage, but offstage he’s just some guy. He did his little body-ody-ody dance in “Love Killa” and then bounced, love him for that. For their outfits, I like their intricate ones that also allow them to be so slutty, proving it’s always possible to be classy AND skanky. Love to see it. They have the range! I just think that more men should embrace that whole look, more crop tops please. I love how Shownu and Changkyun have such good voices but also show up in music videos like That. I didn’t love Shape of Love, but Changkyun’s voice in “Burning Up” and his modulation in “And”… I get why he couldn’t do it live, that’s a hard note to hit without any lead-up, but I wanted to hear it so bad.

kljeklsjfkl Snake Plisskin is a character from an 80s movie, which is so dated and cheesy, but Shownu with an open jumpsuit would be so good. If there’s going to be so many remakes, they should do Escape From New York with Shownu and Fight Club with Hyungwon. Most men don’t understand Fight Club, but I have faith that Hyungwon does.

Wonho is SO sweet and precious and deserves such good things. It’s so unfair that a situation he’s worked so hard to get out of hurt him professionally, the fact he wasn’t allowed to grow and change and get himself to a better place is ridiculous. I’m so glad he’s still got his kind heart and is still full of love. And also that he chose to come back to music and performance, he clearly loves it, and we love him!

I am so nosy and annoying I want to hear everything you’ll share. I’m spiritually lying on my stomach in bed, swinging my feet and trying to gossip over my novelty phone. I don’t like dating, but I do like living vicariously through people who do.

Aw thanks love!! Lol well I had an interest in helping people either financially or otherwise and so my degree from university (which helped) got me into my place of work that started off as a student and then I worked my way up to an official worker position so I’m able to help more people that way 👍👍yeah we can work with the services that help clients like getting them referred to job programs and helping them get ids 🪪 so that’s wonderful ❤️

Childe

As someone who spends most of his free time training Childe is not very experienced in the field of amorous endeavours, as he didn’t have a lot of romantic opportunities to begin with.

Thus, the idea of a much more knowledgeable partner puts him on edge - despite having a very carefree and cheery persona, Childe is a person who likes being in control and controlling someone who has an advantage over him doesn’t sound easy.

That’s why he’s very delighted to hear that you never had anyone before, as it automatically puts him in the position of power.

Childe will try to appear as a personification of all fairytale princes, who came into the real world straight from the pages of children’s books. He will be funny and caring, attentive and supportive of whatever you do.

He will also start to display his feelings for you in a more public way that it is socially acceptable, ranging from the simple peck to your hand to full-on passionate and deep kisses that leave you both hot and panting. If you get shy or uncomfortable, he’ll wave it off, saying that his feelings for you are intense, hence he always needs to show others how much he loves you.

The same goes for gifts - you will get shocked once you learn their price, as Childe spends enormous amount of money on them. You don’t even have to ask him, you just need to focus your gaze on one thing or the other a second too long and you’ll have it on the next day, neatly wrapped with a short loving note attached. Diluc

Diluc gets very happy once he learns that you never had a partner before, because he has a certain “pure” image of you in his head and this fact is the confirmation of said “purity”.

Moreover, he is far from being charismatic, it’s easy to misinterpret his words and actions, and the fact that you had someone before would make him feel lacking in comparison.

He views you as someone innocent and incapable of doing anything wrong, which fuels his protective tendencies and now that he knows you’re also inexperienced he gets even worse as he starts to think that you’re too naive for your own good.

He will be a very controlling and possessive boyfriend, demanding to know what and when you did every time he has to be away from you.

If you try to object, he will state he’s just worrying about you and it's a normal thing to do when you’re dating.

Whether you believe him or not doesn’t really matter as he will try to make you as dependent on him as possible. You don’t need to work when you’re dating the richest person in Mondstadt, nor should you keep contact with your old friends - Diluc has heard some very incriminating things about them, so it’s better if you drop them off.

The same goes for any social contact - you don’t need to shop or hand pick something, be it a dress from atelier or book in library, as Diluc can send some off his staff to do it. He says it’s for you, so you don’t spend your time and energy doing menial, boring chores and dedicate them to him or the things you actually like.

You will believe Diluc’s words of course, failing to notice how much lonelier you’ve grown after meeting him.

Kaeya

Kaeya is usually very indifferent to the number of partners his current dates had, but you’re an exception to this, of course, as he starts to feel strangely possessive over you, scorching hate rage rising up everytime he thinks you had someone before him.

The news of you being inexperienced doesn't quell his possessive tendencies, but it brings satisfaction to Kaeya nonetheless. He experiences a selfish and almost primitive burst of pleasure after thinking that he’s the first person to do this and that with you.

Even if you break up, you will still think of him every time you do something with your new partner because you did it with him first, Kaeya muses, not that he’ll allow you to cut ties.

One of the perks of dating someone inexperienced is that they have no frame of reference, you never had a boyfriend or girlfriend before, so there’s no competition between him and your exes, no high bars to achieve.
