#Did I make this up just so I could draw Little Ace on the crew?

Ace wakes up on a random island two years after his death as a ten-year-old. But he has no memory of his adult life. Sabo just died, and he has a little brother to look after. Or maybe an older brother?
There is a bit of time between Ace waking up and Luffy finding him.
Sorry this is so long I'm still trying to figure out how to do comic-y things.

one piece characters reactions to having a tatted-up s/o & what tattoos they would get
— including: luffy, zoro, sanji, law, ace
Tumblr media
luffy
— probably would not notice for a while, but when he does, he is ENAMOURED
— absolutely adores your tattoos, and loves to hear you talk about them
— “what does this one mean? did it hurt? it’s so cool!”
— has never really thought about getting a tattoo for himself, but seeing you has tempted him
— “what if i got a massive jolly roger on my forehead?”
— you would definitely have to talk him out of some crazy tattoo ideas, but he would probably settle with getting a small x on his forearm, in honour of the crew.
Tumblr media
zoro
— also really likes your tattoos, and is also one to appreciate the precision of the drawings on your body
— thinks they are unique and it makes him even more attracted to you than he thought was possible
— DEFINITELY TRACES YOUR TATTOOS WITH HIS FINGERS
— similarly to luffy, he would also take genuine interest in your tattoos
— “this one’s beautiful. how long did it take?”
— personally, i don’t think he would care enough to get a tattoo and probably still wouldn’t think about getting tattoos by himself, but could easily be tempted by you to get one
— would probably settle for a small tattoo of his three precious swords!
Tumblr media
sanji
— he noticed that you had tattoos when he first laid eyes on you, and it definitely increased his attraction to you.
— notices every small dot of ink in your tattoos, and definitely appreciates the artistry behind them
— he thinks everything to do with you is a piece of art so your tattoos are nothing less than a masterpiece!
— “hmm.. what if i got a tattoo of your face across my back? that would be so splendid, don’t cha think?”
— WOULD get a tattoo of your name on his forearm and wouldn’t even think twice about it
— it would definitely be written in the most curly cursive handwriting ever in pink with hearts surrounding it
— “what do you think? it’s almost as beautiful as you, my dear!”
— you have no words.
Tumblr media
law
— is the most appreciative of your tattoos out of all of these guys i think
— since he has tattoos himself, he understands the pain and the beauty of them
— “this one must’ve hurt a lot. it’s gorgeous.”
— would be pretty open to getting a matching tattoo with you because he would hate having the pressure of being your first tattoo, so he would be a lot more chill with it knowing that you already have multiple.
— “what do you think about this little heart? i think it would be perfect for the both of us!”
— is very enthusiastic and hands-on in picking out your matching tattoos
— i think he’d like to tattoo something symbolic and small, like the first bouquet of flowers he ever got you on his wrist, and on yours too
Tumblr media
ace
— joint first with law for most appreciative about your tattoos
— adores your tattoos and seeing you has definitely encouraged him to get some more!
— “this one’s gorgeous babe. i want it too!”
— will give you a yes to any tattoo ideas you propose to him immediately, without any second thought
— one time you jokingly suggested he should tattoo your face on his pecs and the way he said “yes!” so seriously made you take a mental note to never suggest any tattoo ideas to ace because he will do them
— on a more serious note, he would genuinely love to get a matching tattoo with you or even just a tattoo which symbolises you on himself
— i can see him getting your birthday in roman numerals emblazoned in his chest. it would be very pretty and you would definitely go crazy over it!

That was amazing! This will be my last request around Eri!Reader until you reopen your requests so I’m not spamming you! (Thank you so much for writing these, I get so excited whenever you post since your so amazing and talented!! 💞✨)
Part 14 After returning to Water 7 to heal from their battle (And happy to learn Franky is going to make them a Ship and join them) Garp the Fist comes in, and reveals to be Luffy’s Grandfather, but before he could continue beating the snot out of Luffy, Reader stops him (Garp is happy to finally meet his one and only Granddaughter Reader!)
However Garp ends up pissed when Luffy told him Spadam hit her, and wants to get his hands on him! (No one puts their hands on his Granddaughter!! NO ONE!!)
Though Reader calms Luffy and Garp down from wanting to go back/to Enies Lobby to beat Spadam up (Garp’s cackling after learing that his sweet Granddaughter hit Spadam in his ‘Royal Jewels’, as he’s very proud of her for doing that) and leaves the Straw Hats alone after telling Luffy about his dad Dragon (Not before promising to spend time with Reader and gives her one of his Rice Crackers)
For the next 3 days the Straw Hats and all of Water 7 had a huge party, with Reader playing around with Chimney and Gonbei in her bathing suit Franky gave her (Including little Arm Floats that look like Starfish/Kitties)
And with Nami’s help, Reader calls Ace to talk with him, and Ace was holding in his rage after hearing what his little sister went through (As she told him it was scary) and the fact she got slapped, but he started laughing when Luffy told him what Reader did to Spadam’s ‘Jewels’ (Whitebeard and his sons were doing the same thing as Ace, angry and furious, but proceeded to laugh hysterically after learning what Reader did to someone’s ‘Jewels’)
I love Whitebeard so much (He’s so protective and caring about those apart of his family) he’s just a giant softie
They all see not only Zoro, Luffy, Robin and Reader’s Bounties upgraded, but everyone get a Bounty themselves (And everyone screamed when Reader’s bounty Skyrocketed again at 320-350 Million)
Reader also comforts her Brother Sanji about his Wanted Poster by giving him one of her own drawings of him (It’s a kid drawing, but compared to Luffy, it’s 100x better than his art skills and she drew it out of love)
I’ll wait until next time to ask you for a Garp and Eri!Reader Special (They’re going to spend a whole day together!) it’s just pure. unadulterated. Fluff.
-It had been two days since you and your family arrived back from Enies Lobby, as many of you were severely injured, you were luckily, being the least injured, but after overworking your quirk, you were just as tired as the rest of them.
-You were so happy that Franky was a part of the crew and that Usopp was back, as you felt protective of your family, you never wanted any of them to leave- you never wanted to be apart from them.
-Franky was super nice to you as the others were slowly waking up, both him and Iceburg treating you to breakfast as you were the first to wake up.
-You were in awe, seeing Luffy still sleeping but also eating, unable to look away until Sanji and Nami yelled at him to wake up while Robin and Usopp were laughing lightly at the sight.
-A knock then came from the door before it burst open and Franky dropped his shoulder, wrapping his arms around you, shielding you from the debris.
-A large man then entered, a marine which made you clutch at Franky’s Hawaiian shirt, scared as everyone was quickly able to recognize this man, Monkey D. Garp!
-Luffy’s jaw was dropped, “Grandpa?!” everyone quickly turned in shock, hearing this, yelling in shock while your little hands came to your face in shock.
-Garp then made you gasp as he punched Luffy, sending him flying into a wall. Zoro and Sanji were stunned, ready for a fight, seeing that he was able to hurt Luffy.
-You pushed on Franky’s chest and you managed to slip out of his arms and you ran over as Garp stalked towards Luffy, cracking his knuckles, ready to discipline him before you ran in front of your brother.
-Your arms were spread and you had big fat tears in your eyes, “Please don’t hurt my big brother!” everything froze, seeing you protecting Luffy and Garp stammered, trying to tell you that he wasn’t going to hurt Luffy, just discipline him.
-The tears fell from your eyes and Garp instantly fell to his knees, hugging you close, “Grandpa’s so sorry little Y/N! I didn’t mean to make you cry!”
-You sniffled loudly as Luffy struggled to his feet, a bit dizzy, before you spoke, “You’re my grandpa?” Garp glared at Luffy, his eyes turning red, “You didn’t tell her about your one and only grandpa?!”
-You tugged on Garp’s shirt gently, not seeing him as someone so scary now, “I have two grandpas- you’re my second one!”
-Garp turned to stone in shock before crumbling into a sobbing pile while Robin picked you up, holding you up on her hip, he cried, lamenting that he wasn’t your first grandpa.
-He then shot up, looking completely fine, looking fired up, “So who was your first grandpa?!” he wanted to find out to take that title from whoever got to you first, no matter who it was.
-You beamed brightly, your arms lifting to the sky happily, “I’ve never seen him but I’ve talked to him with Big Brother Ace- he said his name is Whitebeard!”
-The flames around Garp seemed to increase, growing hotter as his eyes turned red, furious that his adorable granddaughter had been adopted by Whitebeard of all people and that you saw him as your first grandpa, while Garp was in second place!
-He could only imagine you (in cartoon form), in Whitebeard’s arms, laughing with him as he stood on the 1st place spot of a podium while Garp was on his knees in second place.
-Garp wasn’t going to deal with your crew at the moment, instead joining you all for a meal, you sitting on his knee as you held a cup of juice.
-Garp noticed the bandage on your head, “What caused this?” you lifted your hand to your head and Nami was the one to answer, “It was that marine, Spandam- he hit Y/N for trying to protect Robin.”
-Garp froze, turning white, hearing that a grown adult- a grown man, put his hands on a child, injuring you as he was quick to get fired up, “Where is the bas-basket case!” he caught himself, not wanting to swear in front of you.
-You didn’t know why he was calling Spandam a basket, before his face appeared in your head, and his mask did look a bit like a basket.
-Your family was also still furious at Spandam, glaring and voicing their own anger while you were eating a cookie Garp gave to you.
-Nami pointed at him, scolding him, “Oi! Don’t be giving her cookies for breakfast!” you flinched as Garp just beamed brightly, “It’s fine- it’s fine!” Sanji grabbed you, “It is not fine! She needs healthy food in the morning.” Garp pouted, wanting to spoil you.
-He then spoke again, “So where is Spandam?” a few grins appeared as Franky ruffled your hair gently, “Y/N here took care of him, with a well-placed headbutt to the family jewels!”
-Garp laughed loudly, finding it hysterical, before he ruffled your head, praising you before he stood, telling Luffy about Dragon, his dad and you had question marks floating around your head, as you didn’t know any dragons.
-Luffy told you that he would tell you all about his dad and Garp gave you a bag of cookies, “I have to leave now my little Y/N~ I’ll come back to spend some time with you.”
-You smiled up at him, holding your hand up to him, extending your pinkie finger, “Pinkie promise?” Usopp was the one to teach you about pinkie promises, and Garp as well as several others around, Usopp, Luffy, Franky, Iceberg, and Sanji, all collapsed to the ground, clutching at their chests at your cuteness.
-After Garp left and all the damage caused by Aqua Laguna was fixed, everyone celebrated! There was a huge party with drinking, eating lots of barbeque, and you got to run around with Chimney in the water, being a normal kid for one, wearing your starfish shaped water wings that Franky gave you over your wet suit.
-Franky was confused why you were wearing a wet suit as he was your lifeguard, letting you sit on his leg, asking you and you pulled your arms in close, looking down at your hands, “There’s…” you couldn’t speak, instead pulling your sleeve up, showing him the scars, at least some of them, on your arms.
-His eyes were wide, seeing his as he held your hand gently, before a hand on his head pulled him out of his shock, and you both saw Luffy there who kneeled down, seeing you showing Franky your scars, “Someone hurt Y/N- badly. We don’t know much, but all we know is that he will never touch her again.”
-You gave Luffy a small nod before you all decided to head to the ship for a private party, having a bath with Robin and Nami while the boys started up a barbeque.
-You ran out to Luffy, grabbing his hand, pulling him away from the fire, looking excited as Nami grinned, walking out with Ace’s DenDen Mushi, “Nami and I are gonna call Ace and grandpa!”
-You sat on Luffy’s lap while he continued to eat, not bothering you heard it ringing before you heard Ace, “Is this my most favorite little sister~?” you giggled warmly, “Hi Ace!”
-Aboard the Moby Dick, their own drinking party, because it was Wednesday, everything went quiet as most everyone huddled around Ace, hearing the voice of their adorable little sister and granddaughter.
-You and Ace talked about your most recent adventures, including where Robin was kidnapped and then you were taken too. Ace was furious, flames surrounding him as they all heard that Spandam hurt you- and Whitebeard was ready to call for an attack before Nami had to tell Ace that you took care of Spandam yourself, taking out his family jewels.
-It was silent on the other side, all their anger instantly leaving before you flinched back into Luffy’s arms, hearing the roar of laughter from the other side.
-Once Ace was able to breathe again, he spoke, “What else happened?” you beamed brightly, “I met another grandpa- his name is Garp!”
-Ace shivered deeply, recalling his own memories of Garp before he managed to force a smile, “Oh? And how was he?” you thought for a moment, “Kinda loud- and he cried when I told him that Whitebeard is my first grandpa, while he was my second.”
-Whitebeard beamed warmly, hearing that he was your first, but he couldn’t help but imagine Garp lamenting over the fact that he was the second.
-The following day, you woke up to loud shouting and you wandered out of your room, a little delirous as you wandered over, rubbing your eyes as you grabbed Zoro’s pants, “Why is everyone yelling?”
-He kneeled down, putting his hand on your head and your eyes went wide as everyone showed you their new bounties, your eyes immediately sparkling brightly.
-Robin then smiled, “Here Y/N- this one is yours.” You looked exited, taking it while Luffy was pouting lightly, seeing your 400,000,000 beri bounty while you were gawking, “So many zeros!”
-You quickly ran to put it up on your wall, showing the other bounties as well and you beamed, feeling proud of yourself.
-You then noticed Sanji looked sad when you came back out and you quickly found out why, because the marines didn’t have a good photo, so they used a crudely drawn one by Luffy instead and Sanji was upset because it didn’t look a thing like him!
-You quickly ran back to your room, coming out with your drawing materials Usopp had given you and you got to work, making a new bounty poster to make your big brother happy!
-It took you over an hour to draw, everyone who had seen you saw the focus on your face before you ran to Sanji, “I made it better!”
-You drew your own bounty poster, including ‘bounty’ being spelled wrong, and a children’s drawing in the middle, showing Sanji making food with hearts surrounding him.
-Sanji fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face as he held it up to the sky, overwhelmed with happiness before he cried into his elbow, thanking you warmly, making you beam before your smile grew as he put it on the fridge, “So I can see it every day!”
-You celebrated with your crew, having a big feast to celebrate the new bounties, unaware of the, literal, darkness on the horizon.

The Daughter's Return Part 3
Chapter 8: Promises Broken...
Start From Beginning | Next Chapter | Table of Contents | Read on AO3
A second part will be posted tomorrow :) Characters: female reader x Portgas D. Ace Word Count: 1.4k
Over the next few days, you traversed the Alabastan Desert with the Stawhats. Ace occasionally gave you piggyback rides, and sometimes you rode on the perverted camel, but mostly you walked.
Walking gave you something to focus on. When your mind wandered, that’s when the fear crept in. So even though you were hot and miserable, you preferred walking to the alternatives.
Ace even let you wear his most treasured hat so you could keep the sun out of your eyes and avoid sunburn.
The journey was long, but it wasn’t uneventful. You learned more about Vivi and the Kingdom of Alabasta. She told you stories of her admirable undercover work in Baroque Works, and your heart hurt for her and her country.
Nami told you about her tangerines and how she wanted to draw a map of the entire world. From what you had seen, she was an excellent navigator and had a way with reading the weather that you had never seen before.
Usopp told you about stories that were too crazy to believe, and you offered up some of your actual stories in return.
Chopper talked to you about vitamins, and though you didn’t tell him exactly what was going on, he gave you a lot of medicinal herb remedies you could use in the future for morning sickness and other ailments.
Zoro didn’t talk much, but you did admire his swords. Izou had taught you how to handle swords when you were young; a skill that you had further refined in Wano, and you were able to impress the mossy-haired swordsman with a few moves.
You helped Sanji cook occasionally, preparing ingredients when you saw he was going to need them. It reminded you of how you helped Thatch in the kitchen, and you tried not to be too sad over the thought of never doing it with him again.
Luffy stuck by Ace most of the time, the two of them exchanging stories. You liked to sit and listen to their tales of childhood, and Ace told Luffy plenty of stories about his time on your father’s ship. They deeply cared for each other, which softened your heart. Ace rarely opened up to people in the way he opened up to the Strawhats, and you found yourself thoroughly enjoying everyone’s company.
When you finally found the man who claimed to have Teach, you weren’t surprised to discover he was a fraud. You were a little disappointed to realize you would actually have to leave Luffy and his crew, though. You had grown very fond of them all.
“Let’s go in the morning,” Ace begged. “One more night with them all?”
“Sure.” You grinned, knowing he was just as sad to leave as you were.
He plopped a sloppy kiss on your cheek and got up to stretch.
“Be right back,” he said, sauntering off to talk to a few other crew mates.
“I still can’t believe Ace joined a crew,” Luffy said, shaking his head. “This Whitebeard guy can’t be that great!”
You laughed at his comment, your eyes on Ace as you watched him talk to Chopper. “He’s a good guy, Luffy. I think you’d like him if you met him.”
“He has to be a good guy.” Luffy sighed and fell back into the sand. “Ace wouldn’t respect him if not. Ace doesn’t like anybody.”
Your eyes finally broke away from Ace, and you looked at Luffy in confusion. “What are you talking about, Luffy? Ace likes everybody!”
“No way!” He huffed. “He tried to kill me when he first met me! He tried to kill me a lot!”
You thought about how Ace mentioned he had tried to kill your father long ago. That version of Ace lined up a lot more with what Luffy was saying.
“I think pops beat it out of him.” Your eyes ventured back to Ace, who was now talking to Sanji. You wished he was back by your side. It was getting cold without him.
“He seems happy,” Luffy said, so quiet it was almost a whisper. “I think you did that to him.”
“Me?!” you laughed. “I make his life infinitely harder, Luffy. Trust me.” You resisted the urge to put your hand to your stomach at that thought.
“Nah.” Luffy sat up and shook his head, sending sand everywhere. “He really loves you. I can tell.”
“How can you tell?”
Luffy hummed, deep in thought. “Well, he would-”
“Got you some tea,” Ace said, interrupting his brother. “How are you feeling?”
“Better.” You snuggled into his arms, letting his warmth wrap around you as you gripped your teacup.
You looked back at Luffy to hear the rest of his answer, but the boy was already off laughing with another crewmember. Whatever he was going to say was long gone.
It was a joyous night gathered around the campfire, but it was short lived. Everyone was exhausted, and you were barely able to keep your eyes open near the end.
“We can go to bed,” Ace offered, smirking at you as you nodded off.
“No,” you groaned, resting your head on his warm shoulder. “S’our last night…”
“Come on,” he whispered, picking you up and taking you over to your all’s sleeping bags that were a good distance from the rest of the camp. “You need a good night's sleep.”
“Mmmkay,” you hummed, curling up into the sleeping bag. “Come here. You’re so warm.”
“Did you drink all your tea?” Ace brushed the hair away from your face as you hummed with delight.
“It was really good, thank you.”
Ace watched you closely, waiting for you to go to sleep. “I love you so much. You know that, right?”
“Of course,” you mumbled, a sleepy smile ghosting across your face. “I love you too, Acey.”
Ace bit his lip, holding back his emotions. He gave you a soft kiss on the forehead, and by the time he pulled away, you were softly snoring.
You had drank all of the sleeping medicine he had put in your tea. With any luck, you would be out until morning. By then, he’d be long gone.
He slipped his hand into your bag, and pulled out your stack of vivre cards. He shuffled through each one, until he found a small piece of paper with his name on it, covered in hearts that you had drawn across the entire slip of paper. Ace quickly removed it from the pile and shoved it in his pocket, putting all of your other cards back into your bag.
He bent down and gave you one more kiss, and when you didn’t stir, he walked over to the dying campfire. Only Luffy and Nami were still awake, both sitting in silence as they watched the coals.
“Here, Luffy.” Ace handed him a new blank slip of paper. “Whatever you do, don’t tell Y/N you have that.”
“This?” Luffy examined the paper, but it was blank. “What is it?”
“We’ll use it to find each other again one day. When we’re both big named pirates.”
Luffy frowned. “It’s just a piece of paper, though.”
“Do you not want it?”
“No,” Luffy said. “I’ll keep it.”
“Are you leaving now?” Nami asked. “It’s the middle of the night.”
“Yeah, I’ve got to get a head start and get the Striker ready.” Ace gave a longing glance back at you. “When she wakes up, can you hand her this?” He passed off a transponder snail to Luffy.
“Sure,” Luffy said. “But don’t you just want to take her along now?”
“Nah,” Ace said. “She knows where I’m going. She needs to rest. Just leave her until morning. And look after her, will you? Make her travel with you guys until you get back to your ship. I’ll meet her in Nanohana”
“Okay!” Luffy said.
“Don’t mention that paper, Luffy. I’m serious. She’ll take it from you.”
“But it’s mine!”
“So put it somewhere safe.”
“This doesn’t make any sense,” Nami said, her frown deepening. “Ace, if you’re meeting her in back in Nanohana, you should just-”
Ace ignored Nami, not wanting her to think too hard about his false plan. “Next time I see you, Luffy, we’ll both be top pirates!”
“Deal!” Luffy said.
And then Ace was gone, disappearing into the night, leaving you blissfully unaware of the unforgivable thing he had just done.

Coming off anon, I've been doing some drawings of her since last night when I could sleep and during work and lunch today.
I still haven't decide haven't decided on her name yet. I still need to Color and pick out the pallete for her.
Tumblr media
So because her hair was so tangled and matted when Luffy found her, Dandan and Makino suggested it to cut it. Which was a great decision because when she didn't have chores she ran after her brothers into the woods.
She isn't a picky kid when it comes to dresses, skirts or shorts. She'll happy accept anything anyone offers her.
While Dandan influenced her attitude and taught her to stand up for herself.
Makino had taught her manners and gave her lessons.
I kinda want her to cry when she first meet Garp because of all the stories her brothers told her about him. She doesn't want to get the fist of love.
The boys learned that a little girl crying is a massive influence and used this to their advantage. They would walk around with her in goa kingdom and let someone bump into her, making her drop something. All she had to do was cry and Ace would start gaslighing the poor person.
When Luffy left she joined him because everyone agreed he shouldn't be traveling alone.
That’s so interesting! So we have a in between of tomboy and feminine characteristics on her as she switches her wardrobe around and can go from punching back someone to apologizing and crying for punching said person. So we got an pretty good balance there I love it!!
And absolutely based, on what you have told me she would problably freak out when she meets Garp, since she not only has the asl telling her these stories but Dadan and her crew also probably badmouthing the guy would not help her opinion on the marine. Wonder how Garp would take it?
Omg the gaslighting 😂, I can totally see Ace complimenting her in a job well done after they got a load from their latest victim. Just ace patting her head and telling her she did a good job and shes there beaming and taking it all in, happy that she was able to help them.
The very first strawhat member! What abilities would she portray? What would be her position amongst the crew
I love your drawimg! They are so good, you really showcase that motion on her dress and hair, it looks swift and realistic. I can’t wait to see the end result with color!

I absolutely adored the HC’s you did! 💗
Would you please be happy to do a Izou scenario?
What about being in Izou’s division as a second in command and the two of them go on a mission together?
Reader gets badly injured and thinking she won’t survive confesses to Izou that she‘S liked him for some time now, but was too much of a coward to admit her feelings because he appears to her so ethereal and otherworldly?
Let’s be honest Izou is one of the most beautiful and pretty people around in one piece 😌
Thank you! 💗
Yes, Yes he is. He's my 3rd favorite character (Sabo and Ace are first and second because I love them). I'm glad you enjoyed the HC's and I hope you like this too.
Warnings: blood loss, injuries, light gruesome depictions,
Word Count: 1325
Being the commander of the 16th division, Izou hadn’t expected the mission to be easy. That being said, he also hadn’t expected to be hiding in a cave, with you clutching a bad sword wound across your stomach. You were his ‘second-in-command’ the person who took on his role when he was unable to complete them, aided him with his duties when they became too much and always had his back. You were the ‘first mate’ to his ‘captain’. Someone who always had his back and had the strength to prove it. Laying you on the ground, Izou gently removed your arm from your stomach, pulling your shirt up to see the gash. It would leave a scar, that was for certain, and it probably hurt like hell. If he could get you to Marco soon, the scarring would probably be minimal, but there was no telling how long the two of you would have to wait here. The pirates that had tried to invade one of Pops’ territories was stronger than previously reported and left the two of you woefully underprepared for their force. The two of you were probably lucky to get out with only this much, this crew seemed particularly vicious.
“So, how’s it look?” you asked, wincing in pain as you tilted your head back, grinding your teeth.
“About as well as you’d expect from a would like this. We need to get you back to Marco as soon as possible.” he said, grabbing one of his kimono sleeves. You looked up just in time to see him tearing the fabric, before tearing it into strips as he made a makeshift bandage for you, “This should help for now, but I’m hoping to get out of here before too much longer.” he said, tying the last knot on the fabric that wrapped around your stomach. You could only nod, not sure what to say. What could you say? Thank you wasn’t enough, you felt a little guilty that he’d ruined one of his kimonos for you, but you knew he’d never accept an apology for something like this.
“I’ll be fine, I can’t exactly let you ruin a kimono and go die, now can I?” you joked, trying to mask your pain. Izou gave you a small smile and nodded. He knew you were just trying to cheer him up, but it was sweet of you. You’d always been fairly sweet, something that he liked about you.
It felt like you were waiting an eternity, laying on the ground of the cave, trying to take deep breaths as the pain came and went in waves, each one seeming to crash harder than the last. Though maybe that was your imagination. Feeling something in your hand, you looked up, finding Izou to your side, your hand in his.
“Just hang in there, squeeze my hand if you need to. It shouldn’t be much longer.” he said softly, making you smile. Even now, with his hair disheveled, his kimono torn, make-up smudged, and face lightly smeared with dirt, you couldn’t help but admire his beauty. The most beautiful man on the Grand Line, no one could convince you otherwise. To you, he always looked like some divine being from the heavens, a beauty so great that it couldn’t possibly be from this world.
An eternity later passed before you pulled his on hand, drawing his attention away from keeping a lookout.
“Izou… I… I’m bleeding pretty badly, I probably won’t make it back.” you said, squeezing his hand again as another shot of pain hit you.
“You’re going to be fine, Y/n. Just a little longer, I promise.” he said, giving you a worried smile. You just shook your head, you were too weak, there was no way you could make it back.
“Pretty sure I’m not so I’d uh… I’d like to confess something.” you said, making the man look at you in concern. Taking a deep breath, you smiled at him, “I’ve liked you for years. Not as your second-in-command, not as friends, but… Liked you. I… I love you.” you said softly as Izou stared at you for a moment, “I couldn’t say anything before because I mean, look at you, you’re so… you have a beauty to you that just… like you’re from another world.” you said. Izou opened his mouth to say something, eyes widening when your body went limp. No, no this couldn’t be happening! Not to you! Not to the most spectacular woman he’d ever met, not before he could tell you that he loved you back.
Groaning in pain, you opened your eyes. Weren’t you not supposed to feel pain after your death? Looking around, your brow furrowed. This looked like the infirmary. Sitting up, you winced, if this was the infirmary, why did everything hurt so badly? Wouldn’t Marco have healed you? Still, it wasn’t as bad as it had been before. Slowly, you removed the bandages, knowing that if and when Marco caught you, he’d kill you, but you had to see for yourself. The wound was stitched closed and looked like it was healing fine. Maybe you weren’t dead? An exasperated sigh drew your attention. Sure enough, there was Marco, looking at you rather irritably.
“I’ll have Ace get Izou for you while I rebandage your wound.” he said, telling the fire user to grab the division commander as he inspected your wound. It was already unbandaged, he might as well check it before rebandaging it. It didn’t take too long for the door to slam open, a frantic looking Izou standing in the doorway. A few strands of hair had fallen loose from their usual place and his eyes were wide as they landed upon you, but he looked better than he had back on the island. He was next to you in an instant, pushing Marco aside and pulling you into a tight embrace, much to the doctor’s annoyance.
“If you ever scare me like that again, I’ll have Pops put you on deck duty for a month! How can you just admit you love me when you think you’re dying?!” Izou said, his voice wavering as he held you, “You never even gave me a chance to respond! Don’t you know how rude it is to not give a person a chance to respond? How do you think I’d feel knowing that the woman of my dreams died after confessing her feelings to me without ever knowing that I feel the same way about her?!” he continued, his body trembling slightly.
“Bad, now get off my patient!” Marco demanded, pulling Izou away so he could continue checking your wound. While he understood that you two wanted a touching moment, it could wait until after your stomach had been rebandaged!
Sitting in your bed, you let Izou hold you. You weren’t confined to the infirmary anymore, but you were still on bedrest, meaning that Izou had been taking every spare moment he had to visit you, hold you, and keep you company. After a very long, in-depth conversation, he’d told you that he’d felt the same way for quite some time, but had been concerned about your positions as commander and second-in-command to say anything. But when you’d confessed and then fallen unconscious, he hadn’t known what to do with himself. He never wanted something like that to happen again, he wanted you to know how he felt. Running your hand over the still healing wound, you couldn’t help but smile as you turned to him.
“For all the pain, the trouble, the worry, I… I think I’m kind of glad how things turned out. I’m not dead and I have you.” you said softly, caressing his cheek. Izou could only nod in agreement, giving you a light kiss. He wasn’t exactly happy with how it had happened, but he was content with the outcome so he wouldn’t complain.

My One Piece OCs Part. 1
Since @supermarine-silvally and I became excellent friends, I thought I would share my One Piece OCs with them. I'm unsure when I would post pictures of them because I'm still learning to draw.
The way I came up with my OCs is weird. I had totally different ideas for them until one day, while working on earth science homework, a sudden idea came to me: "What if Little Red Riding Hood was a pirate in One Piece? And what if she was shipped with Portgas D. Ace in the Survivor AU?"
So, I revamped my MC OC so she could be what TV Tropes called a Red Riding Hood Replica. Of course, I couldn't just stop with Little Red. No, I had a fairy tale theme going on! I had to add Goldilocks and some others you might recognize.
I never thought I would get into One Piece, let alone make fairy tale-based One Piece OCs, but here I am, LOL. Anyway, this post is long and will contain some spoilers for anyone who are on the East Blue Saga. So read at your own risk.
I plan to write fanfics about these characters after I flesh them out (and the story) but feel free to ask me or some of my OCs some questions.
Right now, I just want to post my main ones. I hope you like ‘em, especially you Hadley!
Edit 4/22/2024: I just had to touch up some things and change the name of Blanchette's mother. I see her as more as a Sylvia than a Helene.
"Red Hood" Delahaye Blanchette
Tumblr media
DOB: August 10, 1501 (World Lion Day) | Gender: Female | Age: 21 (pre-timeskip) / 23 (post-timeskip) | Devil Fruit: Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Manticore | A Brass Knuckles-wielding Combatant of the Spade Pirates and, subsequently, the Whitebeard Pirates | Voiceclaims: Megumi Hayashibara (Japanese), Laura Bailey (English, Funimation)
Blanchette's surname was taken from my favorite pirate Jacquotte Delahaye, while I got her first name from Charles Marelle's rendition of the fairy tale "The True History of Little Goldenhood". In that fairy tale, Charles gives Little Red Riding Hood a real name–Blanchette.
Blanchette was born in Porto, a pirate haven that was the capital city of Rara Island. She was the result of a fling between Delahaye Sylvia and Crocodile, who stayed in Porto for a few months shortly after watching Roger's execution. Crocodile left before Blanchette was born, leaving her to be raised by Sylvia. She didn't know who her father was until she was six. Sylvia explained that Crocodile left to pursue his ambitions. Needless to say, that would cause Blanchette to resent her father.
As her mother worked several jobs to support them, Blanchette spent a lot of time with her grandmother, Maria, who told her stories about her adventures as a pirate. These stories captivated Blanchette so much that she was inspired to become a pirate when she was older. Blanchette engaged in mischief on the streets like many other kids in Porto did but didn't have many friends, as her peers would either avoid her or make fun of her for having a dark blue-gray pigment around her right eye known as Nevus of Ota. One time, she was about to fight a girl who called her 'Black Eye' but was stopped by another girl named Aurelia, who would become her best friend and later sister (they are sisters in the same way Ace, Sabo, and Luffy are brothers).
Discovering that they shared dreams of becoming pirates, Blanchette and Aurelia would steal money and other needed resources when they set sail together. This is how Blanchette got her Devil Fruit powers, stealing what she thought was an ordinary pineapple because she was hungry. The two sisters would borrow money from hustlers willing to bet on anything, from throwing a rock the farthest to fighting other kids.
When she turned 15, Blanchette began participating in underground street fights to help support her mother. Due to her skills with brass knuckles and Devil Fruit powers, she quickly rose to become a renowned street fighter. Some pirate captains who witnessed her fights even wanted her to join their crew, but she would turn them down because she would rather start her own pirate crew than join someone else’s.
One day, Blanchette was coming home from a match. She headed to Maria's house to give her some flowers she had bought as a surprise gift. On her way, she met a wolf mink pirate named Grimm, who tried to convince her to join his crew, the Cutthroat Pirates. When she declined, Grimm told Blanchette she'd missed an opportunity but respected her decision and walked away to meet his crew.
Once she reached Maria's house, Blanchette entered inside only to find her grandmother lying on the floor, bleeding heavily from her wounds. She tries to get some help, but Maria advises her not to as she'll be dead by the time help arrives. She manages to tell Blanchette that the man who killed her was Grimm. Since that tragic day, Blanchette has been rigorously training herself to be strong enough to take down the Cutthroat Pirates.
At 18, Blanchette would join the Spade Pirates three months after Helene died of an illness. Although she had planned to start her own pirate crew, she was so charmed by Ace that she decided to accept his offer to join his crew (It helps that Ace wanted to help Blanchette get her revenge on the Cutthroat Pirates). Little did Blanchette know, she was going to be in for one hell of a ride with this crew lol.
"Goldilocks" O'Malley Aurelia
Tumblr media
DOB: May 6, 1500 | Gender: Female | Age: 22 (pre-timeskip) / 24 (post-timeskip) | Devil Fruit: Rozu Rozu no Mi | A Swordswoman of the Spade Pirates and, subsequently, the Whitebeard Pirates | Voiceclaims: Kikuko Inoue (Japanese), Cherami Leigh (English, Funimation)
Blanchette’s older sworn sister, Aurelia. Her surname was taken from the Irish pirate Gráinne O’Malley. Her first name is a Latin female name that means golden, fitting for a character loosely based on Goldilocks.
Aurelia was born somewhere in the South Blue to pirates but spent most of her formative years on a pirate ship. Her parents were starting to see see her as a burden, so they decided to abandon her in the East Blue in Rare’s capital city when she was only 7, lying that they would pick her up later. After spending a long time in the city, Aurelia realized that her parents were never coming back.
She began living on the busy streets of Porto, stealing food and other resources needed to survive. She even attempted to rob others, which came with mixed results. At some point, Aurelia befriended another girl named Blanchette, whom she persuaded to not beat up her bully. They would become the best friends, hanging out and getting into all sorts of trouble like the little delinquents they were.
When Aurelia was 11, she came across a cottage. She looked through the windows and seeing that no one was there, she went inside to check for any food. To her delight, she found three bowls of her favorite porridge. She tasted the largest bowl, which was too hot, then the medium bowl, which was too cold. Finally, she tried the third, which was just the right temperature, and finished it all. Afterward, she searched the fridge for more food and found a strange red apple. Remembering the saying that beggars can't be choosers, she ate it without realizing it was a Devil Fruit.
Feeling rather tired, she decides to head upstairs to the bed chambers. She tries to lie down on all three beds. The first bed felt too hard, the second bed was too soft, but the third bed was just right, so she slept in that one.
However, a family of three lived in this house. When they returned from their walk, they discovered someone had eaten their porridge and the Devil Fruit they intended to sell. They went upstairs and saw Aurelia sleeping in one of their beds. Aurelia is awakened by a boy her age, Orsino Leo, who asks why she ate lunch. Aurelia explains that she was desperate and hadn’t eaten anything in a few days. When Mr. Orsino asked where her parents were, Aurelia told them they had abandoned her four years ago. Taking pity on the poor girl, Mr. and Mrs. Orsino decided to adopt Aurelia as their own.
Everything was going well for Aurelia, as she finally had a home and a family that would take care of her. As she got older, however, she started to feel overshadowed by Leo, who was gifted in the arts. This drove a wedge between her and Leo, as Aurelia felt her new parents loved Leo more than her.
At 19, Aurelia would join the Spade Pirates alongside Blanchette. She saw it as a chance to make her parents proud by becoming the richest pirates in the world. Her dream is to accumulate enough treasure that she can sell it for money and use her earnings to provide for her family.

Hi thanks so much for answering the ask I'm glad I wasn't being weird and I get that about kuzan and Ann if I can ask though if Ann was put in a SBS page like they do with the rest what would you put in I'm planning to ask the same to justscrolling76 but was wondering what you think her hobbies and other trivia stuff would be!
Hmm I have to admit I had to look up what an SBS is, unfortunately I’m anime only until I’m caught up (which is still a good 500+ episodes away) but anyway! If I were to do an SBS for Ann (and whatever other characters I’ll inevitably get asked about) I’d probably start with simple things like age, favorite food, what she thinks of the other high ranking marines.
I only know Ann through the perspective of a reader (no being the artist doesn’t give me sneak peaks or extra information lol) but this is what I personally think for your question…
As a marine Ann doesn’t have a lot of time for hobbies but in the meager amount of free time she has I think she quite enjoys journaling and people watching! I like to think journaling is something she did before the marines but now she’s more determined to keep up with it in the hope that Ace could one day read them. She really only ever wrote when they visited an island or something particularly interesting happened on the Oro (encounters with Whitebeard and his children are generally a hot topic in her older journals being that the crews were for the most part friends) but yeah her older logs have lots of time in between each entry. That’s not to say they still don’t (marine business takes up a lot of time yknow and she doesn’t like people seeing that she has a journal, there’s too much potential for exposure even with how purposefully vague she’s kept them since she joined the marines) but she’s gotten good a remembering the little details, enough so that what would once be a paragraph worth explaining what she’d been up to between entires is now several pages worth. On the rare times she brings her journal with on assignments and actually gets free time (both already rare enough let alone happening together) she likes to draw whatever she can see, usually it’s the island she’s stopped at, food, or just people she’s close to.
As a kid on the Oro Jackson she definitely had plenty of free time and spent most of it doing as much as she could (ever the workaholic) she hates being bored or having nothing to do so she learned how to do things on the ship quite quickly but her all time favorite thing to do was to piss off shanks and buggy (less make them mad and more embarrass them) she made it her goal to get the red of their faces to match the red of their hair and nose respectively but despite how much she teased them the trio was always close together and enjoyed the trouble she got up to with them even more than the trouble she’d get into herself.
Sorry if this went on a little long, like I said I have a lot of thoughts on Ann but try not to take anything as concrete truth. I’m looking forward to what @justscrolling765 has to say on this though! Also if you’d like feel free to give yourself a name to sign off with anon I’ll always know who you are so feel free to ask as many questions as you’d like :)

the pirate's worn knuckles gently tapping against the kitchen's doorframe. Thankfully, he was on time to celebrate this unusual day with his little brother as well, not to forget the straw hat crew. The concept of love was way too foreign for someone who haven't felt that particular feeling for years now and ace was wearing it on his sleeve like some kind of rich jewelry.
Once he's caught the cook's attention, a warm simper dancing over the pirate's chapped tiers. hazel irises laughing, and smiling along with him. " glad i finally found ya'. " ace's raw, deep tone making itself known. As he spoke, the words lingered in the air, each syllable drawn out like the notes of a familiar tune. It was a language born of the sandy land itself, shaped by the rugged terrain and bits of history that defined the corner of the world from where the fire fist came from. it was rich in flavor, just like sanji's cooking.
the steps of heavy, black boots making the planks crack quietly, barely whisper and sing with the spurs that clicked softly whenever ace would move. on his way, the green - stripped backpack was quickly taken off his figure. he thought long about a fitting gift, but sanji did not seem as if he was lacking something ever. only then ace remembered something, and it was time to let go.
" i got ya' a thing. " ace continued, wearing the same warm smile as he handled the blonde a worn - out looking book. it certainly had remains of the fire fist's voyages left on it's cover. and the pages inside seemed to gain more brown and yellow colors. " 's a cook book. my ... mother's cook book. ' as he spoke, his lips visibly twitched. forming a warm smile that hid a little bit of pain behind the fire fist's eyes. " i can't really cook so i can't use it. there are recipes written by her, native to the island where i was born. i know y'gonna make a better use of it than me. and ... make others enjoy what i used to. "
the calloused fingers slowly letting go of the book. now, quickly moving to tip down his hat. a poor attempt to hide his flustered and maybe a bit embarrased face. ace was vulnerable now, and he really didn't like to show that side to others. " Happy Valentine's day. "
The tap-tap-tapping on the wooden door got his attention. A lit cigarette sandwiched between his lips; a smile now curling up at the sight of Ace entering the kitchen. ❝ Mornin', Ace. ❞ Glad I finally found ya. That made him raise a curly eyebrow, curious as the friendly smile remained on his face. Sanji fully turned around; all attention on Ace. Soon his gaze swept from the fire starter, following the movement of the backpack. It seemed it took him a moment to collect himself before drawing out the thing from the bag.
I got ya' a thing. A present, for himself? Oh right, because today is Valentine's Day. A day full of romance and love on many levels. He looked at the book. Worn-out, but clearly cared for despite what could be seen here and there on the cover. A cook book. His ocean blue eyes widened.
His mother's cook book. Oh. His slender fingers brushed against calloused fingers as Sanji accepted the book. His cheeks were burning. Perhaps it was an effect from the devil fruit user. How the warmth entered his face. Or he was simply blushing due to the fact that Ace gave him something important.
Tumblr media
His smile grew bigger, and his eyes shone with happiness. ❝ Ace... ❞ He saw how he was now tipping his hat. His cheeks burned more that Ace was vulnerable around him, and around the most important item that was now in Sanji's hands. Happy Valentine's Day. ❝ If you're sure that I can have this, then I will cherish it, okay? I know what it's like. ❞
Sanji boldly stepped forward, moving Ace's hat up a little to press his lips to his cheek. Yup. It was definitely his fire powers that were doing this to him. It's definitely not something else. ( Who was he kidding. His heart was galloping like a wild horse. ) ❝ Want me to make you somethin' from it? It'll be my way of saying thank you, and also contributing to your Valentine's. I'll... I could make it a bit romantic. Just don't you dare say anything to Luffy. Can't let him know you're getting better treatment. Since you still have guest privileges. But I promise to take care of it; as if it was my own mother's book. Must be a big step to give away something like this. You must trust me that much, right? ❞

Of Course
Like Athena from Zeus, this burst out of my head fully formed.
Horseshoe Bay is having a bit of a supernatural mistletoe crisis and guess where Nancy and Ace accidentally find themselves? Because of course they do...
(1145 words)
...
She should have known.
She should have known from the moment all the mistletoe started appearing in Horseshoe Bay.
People had been experiencing the adverse effects of choosing not to kiss under the mistletoe all over town. From broken bones to powerlines on cars—it wasn’t just any bad luck, it was supernaturally charged bad luck. Thankfully no one had died... yet. The situation was certainly escalating.
They had all been working on finding the cause of the issue but so far they had been unsuccessful. This had not been helped at all by George’s constant complaints that ‘it wasn’t even Christmas’.
Mistletoe was also somewhat ubiquitous when it comes to the supernatural. So that’s how they all ended back at The Claw trying to get through giant piles of books from the Historical Society whilst keeping the restaurant running.
Nancy couldn’t help feel exhausted by the problem. It was just another thing she needed to add to her metaphorical plate. Of course the superstition was real, it was Horseshoe Bay after all—what did she expect? What was worse, the mistletoe kept appearing in places no one had hung it because of course it did, she lamented. Of course.
And of course one had to appear at The Claw unbeknownst to the crew who were busy working the restaurant and trying to solve a supernatural mystery at the same time. And of course it had to appear right above the doorway to the kitchen.
That’s how Nancy, running back to the kitchen to grab something for a customer, ended up face-to-face with the last person she wanted to be in this situation with. Ace. He was holding an empty tub ready to fill with dirty dishes that thankfully created a little distance between them.
She went to hurry around him but Ace’s voice stopped her in her tracks. “Nancy,” he said, flicking his eyes upward to draw her attention to the mistletoe that was now hanging above them both. As she looked at the mistletoe and back to Ace she felt a chilling sense of calm and resignation roll over her. Of course. It would always end up like this, with her getting exactly what she wanted but not in the way she needed it.
She could always take her chances with the supernaturally charged bad luck. This, in and of itself, felt like bad enough luck even considering the alternative. Even as she thought this she knew it wasn’t a viable option. Not with everything else going on in her world and having two of the only five people working to fix the problem standing under this particular mistletoe. Oh, and the mortal peril they might end up in if they didn’t… They couldn’t risk it. And from what she could read from Ace’s expression he had done the exact same calculation. Because of course he had. Sweet, clever Ace—always the level head.
He shifted awkwardly, not making eye-contact. Not that she was trying to make eye-contact either. She quickly glanced around to check that Bess, George and Nick weren’t within eyesight before turning back to Ace. And, with a steadiness she did not think she possessed said, “I, uh… okay, we have to just do it, right? Get it over with?” She heard the edge of uncharacteristic self-consciousness sneak into her words at the end. She wanted to be wrong. She wanted for Ace to suggest a better way out of this situation that she just hadn’t seen yet. But, of course, there wasn’t one.
Ace’s eyes just widened slightly, he nodded and sort of shrugged in what she thought was quiet resignation. Of course he doesn’t want this, she thought. She glanced at the floor and picked at her fingernails. Ace turned to place the tub he was holding onto the nearby bench and looked at her with the same slightly bashful expression that must be reflected on her own face. Great, this was just great. Thank you universe for your dramatic and cruel irony.
“Okay,” he said quietly, tugging nervously at his sleeve.
Neither of them moved.
“Okay,” she echoed, looking directly at him.
She still didn’t move, but Ace did.
He looked at her, then her lips, stepped forward and leaned down. There was half a second where she registered what was happening without fully processing what was happening. Then his lips were on hers and oh. The rational part of her brain completely disappeared alongside any restraint she had left. She was vaguely aware of her hands coming up to tangle themselves into Ace’s hair. And when he raised his hands to rest on her face and neck the mistletoe was forgotten entirely. She threw herself into the kiss and her thoughts were filled only by Ace. Ace, Ace, Ace.
It should have been a quick kiss. Unwanted supernaturally enforceable contract with the mistletoe fulfilled and they could move on with their lives. But this was Ace, so of course he had to go and deepen the kiss further. She completely lost all sense of self-awareness. She thought maybe she moaned into this mouth. That would be an embarrassing fact to deal with at a later time. A time when Ace wasn’t kissing her. Oh god, Ace was kissing her. She suddenly remembered where she was. And that this wasn’t real. She remembered why her friend Ace was forced to kiss her and that the rest of their friends might see them. She somewhat reluctantly pulled away from the kiss, utterly breathless and completely embarrassed by its intensity.
Ace didn’t pull away entirely. He seemed to be trying to catch his breath as well—she knew this because she could still feel it on her face. His eyes were closed and his hair was slightly dishevelled, hanging haphazardly across his cheeks. She resisted the urge to reach up and touch it again. Then his eyes opened and he was looking at her just softly searching, considering like he always does.
She was overwhelmed and couldn’t take it anymore. He was too close. She can’t fall into this rabbit hole. She needed to get out of Ace’s orbit before… Well, she didn’t know what, she just knew it wouldn’t end well.
“I... umm,” she found her voice and her words betraying her, “Table 6 needs fries.”
Ace’s brow furrowed slightly, at her probably, or maybe at some other part of this whole messed up situation. Then he seemed to click back into gear. He turned, picked up the tub he had set aside and quietly moved out of her way.
She looked at him for a second, still not quite able to decipher his expression, and then rushed through the doorway without a backwards glance. She didn’t want to know. She didn’t, she couldn’t. She could still hardly breathe.
They needed to solve this mistletoe crisis and fast.

It's been a while since my last update, so here you go!
One year had passed since the faithed night in Tortuga, where Y/N left everything she once knew behind, to seek the truth she needed to find within. One eventful year where she had gone alone through more than most would in their lifetime. Travelling along with different crews, battling across the seas and polishing her hastily growing reputation as one of the most fearsome pirates the world has ever seen. None dared voice their annoyance with her being a woman, for she had allies all across the seven seas. She had seen so much of the world, her confidence grown and her heart set aflame with adventure. Y/N was an even finer pirate and woman than she had been ever before.
Other pirates either wished to be her or be with her, the secrets of many slipped into her ears. It amused the young woman, and the many who worked in the brothels along the coasts. When Y/N needed information, it was not other pirates or navy officials she sought out. No, it was the brothels’ gossip she tuned her ears to. For the women there knew far more of the world than any other. All news came to their homes and it was all available for the famous pirate.
She had earned an even better reputation with them as well, as she sought out the women there the first thing she did each time she came ashore. She treated them kindly, paid for their food and brought along gifts, treating them like friends. Her actions earned her a handsome reputation with the women, and in each town she could always find a loyal embrace to keep her safe. After all, the women of the brothels ruled the cities from the shadows. To anger one of them was to anger an underground nation.
Y/N’s locks had grown long since the night one year ago, her clothing expensive and proud on her frame. A treat she gave herself due to her wide success in both informal and formal businesses. She was a true pirate, yet could strike a bargain with the British navy without a problem. After all, they too were afraid of her.
The feather on her black hat curled down to her shoulder, its size another show of her wealth and power. The weaponry which clad her shape were the most efficient, on all the ships of the sea, not even the British army able to supply her better. Only the finest for herself, the woman had decided. Dual pistols she had strapped to each side of her chest, and upon both hips she held blades, one magnificent sabre and one deadly cutlass, all adorned with the most elaborate details. These were all weapons to show, the rest she had hidden in pockets and secret departments on her curves. Small explosives and hidden blades were better kept in subtle crevices than to be seen by the naked eye when one made deals. All about the fearsome pirate screamed confidence and to show respect, and that respect she had earned many times over.
“We’ll be docked in an hour, lass,” came the captain’s voice, the merry band she was travelling with now not as roughhousing as most of her fellow pirates. Mercenaries of the law they were during the day after all, and they weren’t too keen on going out during the night when there was ale to be drunk with stories to be told in old taverns. It was a life-altering change from how they had once been, when the captain and his crew had been young and adventurous. A smirk clad Y/N’s lips when she faced the man, her fingers fiddling with the sabre’s handle. “Aye, thought it was about time to dock, Captain Henry. And still I’m not sure if I will take my leave of you when we get there, or if I will meet the navy together with you in the morrow,” her deceptive nature made the captain laugh, for he knew just how little control anyone had over the young pirate. He joined her side with a few strides to the railing, gazing at the sea from the quarterdeck.
“Aye, ye do as ye wish, lassie,” mused the older man, finding his gaze once more sought out her face. “Yer not notorious for knowing every pirate for no reason. Can’t keep ye in place forever” he snickered, his mind on the many rumours he had heard over the past year of the pirate. He had seen it himself a few times too, how the famous Y/N had stepped off one ship only to board another in the same port. Her name was known by all, whether they liked her or not. Her presence on a ship could deter a dispute between two crews, for no one wanted her gone. And those who did were quick to find themselves cornered and silenced for good after voicing such atrocious thoughts aloud.
“Oh shut your gob, “ sneered the woman in reply, earning more laughter from the captain as his head fell back to let the thunderous noise wash over the ship. A simple “Never,” Henry retaliated, winning their argument as he strode to attend his crew and ensure the docking process would flow smoothly. Y/N watched the sea for a moment longer, trained on the horizon in an attempt to find a peculiar ship. One which carried black sails. Fingers carded through her hair as she thought about her old companions, but discarded the thoughts just as quickly. A turn of her heels and the woman came to face the incoming port, nothing she wished to see there either. A defeated smile curled her lips when she ventured to help her current crew, missing the hint of black that rounded a nearby island with a course for their port.
“ Alright, lads!” with easy leaps and muscles bunched for one last jump, Y/N climbed halfway up the crow's nest and gazed down at the many faces who all gave her their full attention.
“ I’m saying this just once because Henry doesn’t seem to be able to get it through your thick skulls. If we don’t get this cargo to the bay within the first few hours of us getting to port, the taverns will be full and the brothels closed,” the crew stared at the woman, most having just woken up from their midday nap. Too many faces were disinterested, the woman sneering maliciously as she knew exactly what would get them on their feet.
“Which means, no ale and no lovers!” Y/N roared, drawing enjoyment from the panic growing in the men’s eyes. They had been at sea for a month now, and the lot needed more than the icy waters could ever offer.
“So unless you wish to mope around the ship for the entire night, alone, get to it!” the crew leapt to their feet, their rushing steps and loud cries satisfying to Y/N’s ears. The pirate’s piercing eyes found the captain who let his chest heave with a sigh, not one to question the woman’s authority. She had gotten the crew off their asses with a single threat, when he had shouted at them all day to get ready. The ship groaned when they threw down the anchor, straining against it as it still wished to traverse further. A gangplank found its hold against the port, the cargo soon to cross over it. Both the captain and Alexandra oversaw the process, to ensure their goods would be gone by the hour.
“Ye know,” Captain Henry spoke after a long while, arms crossed over his broad chest. “Ye should consider becoming a captain one day,” Y/N snapped her head to face the man, eyes threatening to fall out. “Me? A captain?” she ridiculed, shocked by his words. The captain let a snicker pass his lips at her surprise, for being able to shock the immovable Y/N was quite amusing. Work roughened hand, tainted by the deep sea came to rest on his back, clasped together.
“Just sayin’. Ye’ve got the guts and respect for it,” with a smirk the captain passed his current crewmate, stepping onto the railing. “I will leave the rest to ye, for I am in need of a drink,” a wink was sent the woman’s way before Captain Henry made his way down the docks, disappearing without a trace. His back was followed by Y/N’s incredulous gaze.
“You fucking bastard,” Y/N shouted after him, her spiteful words only a show of affection to them both. With a shake of her head and a smirk on her lips growing when she heard the captain’s faraway laughter, the pirate got back to work. With an easy step, she leapt atop the railing, gazing at the crew working by her side.
“We’re making good time, lads! If you keep this up you’re probably going to be one of the first crews of the night to get to the pubs!” Y/N encouraged them. The merry men laughed and cheered whilst their work pace increased tenfold at the praise and promises of entertainment. Even the stand-in captain dared to laugh herself, unaware of how many eyes watched her joy from far out at sea.
It started with Ragetti looking through the captain’s spyglass, minding his own business as they had yet to start preparing to get docked. When turning his eye to the port city, he could tear his wandering gaze when it laid eyes on an extremely familiar figure. Too far away to make out entirely, yet the pirate was certain of who he saw. None he had ever encountered before looked and stood like their old acquaintance.
“Oh, would you look at that!” the pirate laughed, Pintel looking over at him with a raised brow. The spyglass fell from his eye, Ragetti free hand pointing to one of the largest ships docked in the nearing port.
“Y/N is aboard Henry the Savage’s boat!” the words he spoke carried over the deck, the silence that followed deafening, the group trying to comprehend what had just been said. A moment later and the crew rushed like a stampede for the two pirates who shrieked in fright at the threatening approach. The spyglass was taken from Ragetti’s hand and passed to them all to get a look for themselves.
“I can’t see ‘er!”
“Is it really Y/N the Courageous you saw?”
“Courageous? No! Her title is the Unbeatable!
“No, she’s Y/N the Ace of the Sea! The greatest pirate yet!”
The commotion on deck drew Will and Jack from the captain’s cabin, the crew’s loud and incoherent discussions about titles and names soon finding their ears. The former blacksmith was with the crew temporarily, as he had a job to be done with them before they ventured to Port Royal. Both captain and his companion froze in their steps when a well-known name echoed across the crew over and over. A shocked gaze was shared, but the two strode forth together for they could not believe in illusions just because a name was mentioned a few times.
“Right. What’s all this then?” came from the captain’s chest, the crew jumping at the sound of his voice. Jack Sparrow regarded them all with his hands propped on his hips, the loyal blacksmith at his side. Gibbs was the first to speak and took matters into hand, roughly pulling the spyglass from the nearest pirate’s. “It’s Y/N, Jack,” his words piqued further interest in the two newcomers, the two striding through the parting crew to the first mate.
“Y/N?” Will asked, unable to hide the hope that bubbled up in his voice at the mention of her name. The blue eyes grew clearer, not the wistful one’s the crew had come to be familiar with. Jack snatched the spyglass from Gibbs’ offered hand and turned to face the port. With his gaze, he followed the finger pointing at the supposedly familiar pirate. Jack froze upon seeing who they meant, eye narrowing when he stared her down. “No, it can’t be her,” the captain muttered, more to himself than anybody else.
“Far too curvy and longer hair. She didn’t look so cheerful to everyone all the time,” the jealousy and denial dripped from the captain’s tongue, the disbelief he held in his heart fading with each second.
“Can’t be her. No way, you’re all dreaming,” Jack continued before yelping as Will tore the spyglass from his hands, the force of it almost making the captain fall overboard. The blacksmith’s own gaze sought the port for the one they spoke of, his heart beating so quickly it drowned out all sound.
He too came to stand still once he found her form. She stood proud and tall upon Henry the Savage’s railing, her hand thrown out as she barked orders to the crewmates. And there on her lips was a grin, a grin that only the closest of her friends had seen before. Now as she shared it with the rest of the world, the former blacksmith’s blood boiled with jealousy.
“It’s her. There’s no way it’s not her,” Will snarled in reply to Jack’s incessant mumbling, handing the spyglass to Cotton. Will turned to the Black Pearl’s crew, and just like the woman on the other ship, began to bark orders. Where hers had been kind and joyous, he’s were angry and determined orders, none on the ship daring to stand in his way. The desperation in his anger was evident, and the fact that their own Captain Jack did nothing but mumble was a telltale sign that this was a serious matter. Otherwise, Will would have had a sword at his neck for even attempting to command the crew. Their efforts to hurry were doubled, when Jack regained his mind only to shout orders alongside his friend.
Oh, how oblivious the woman they had sought for was, for she heard none of the shouting on the nearing ship. For her well-beloved face was already being shown in one of her favourite taverns.

If the Straw Hats Had a Reality Show Dedicated to Pirates Headcanon! Ft: Law!
With how infamous the pirate crew gotten, it was only natural that they were soon granted the rights to have their own reality show, like other famous pirates in the Grand Line and the New World.
Tumblr media
Get ready for Keeping Up with the Straw Hats!
Luffy: Whether it was his strength, or his childlike innocence, Luffy was a fan favorite!
He often ignored the producers suggestions to make the show more interesting.
Luffy didn’t like when the producers told him to punch a random person on the street when they were visiting an island.
Was not getting paid, as he owed the producers over 10,000 berris for punching the camera one time in anger, when the director attempted to take his meat away. The director was only making a suggestion for a much healthier diet for the star of the show.
Luffy also skipped out on a lot of confessional sessions. Mainly because he really didn’t have much to hide to begin with. But if he did go, it was mainly to either show appreciation for his crew or to make public declarations:
“Sanji’s cooking the BEST!”
“Do we get free meat with this show?”
“I’m going to kick Mingo’s ass!”
Zoro: The viewers found Zoro amusing! Whether it be him constantly getting lost, or his heated arguments with Sanji. The producers would rush over to him, cameras and all whenever they caught the two together.
Zoro was surprisingly popular with female viewers. They enjoyed watching him sweat whenever he would work out in the crows nest.
Zoro didn’t care about the show really. Just as long as he gets to work out, drink booze, and sleep, he’s good.
The producers always looked forward to his confessionals after he fights with Sanji:
“That damn shitty cook! Just who the hell does he think he is?!”
“That curly brow dumbass is gonna get himself killed one of these days!”
Sanji: Was angry that Zoro was racking in more views from the female viewers than he was!
Why him?! Why not me?!
He kicked the camera man straight in the chin when he told him that Zoro was naturally more popular than he was.
Sanji desperately tried to win over the female viewers by showing off his fighting skills or his culinary expertise.
He was excited when he finally got some fan mail from the fans!
It turned out to be from the okamas though…
If Sanji went to the confessionals, it was usually to cry about why women weren’t interested in him…or to talk shit about Zoro:
“Just what does he have that I don’t on this show?”
“Why aren’t all the beautiful ladies watching me?”
Little did Sanji know, he caught the eyes of Violet and Pudding.
Nami: An absolute slut for the camera! The producers LOVED her!
One couldn’t tell who was using who more. All that mattered was what would bring them more views and more money.
Whenever it was filming time, Nami would purposely wear a bikini without the jeans to draw in the male viewing audience.
Add the extra seductive act she would put on, and nosebleeds would cover millions of transponder snail television screens.
Loved to give tours of the Sunny and show off her designer clothes.
Would parade around the islands, using Momonosuke as an accessory to manipulate the fans into loving her more.
Nami LOVED to take advantage of the fanbase, often subtly asking for gifts mainly money through the fan mail she receives. Next to Robin, she had the most.
Nami became very vain and strict with the crew on how to present themselves for the camera and had to keep members like Luffy in check to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid to cause the show to be cancelled. But just in case, as a backup, she could always start an Only Fans.
One might say that the fame and fortune was getting to her head, as she would purposely start up drama whenever she was out on an island. Would probably steal from a city mayor if it meant she could get the fans taking for weeks.
Whenever she was in the confessionals, it was mainly to complain about Luffy’s or Zoro’s antics.
Would probably shit talk about Robin, although faking it the whole time, to get some drama started:
“Honestly! I wish Luffy would just use some common sense for once!”
“Robin thinks she’s all that! But everyone knows, I’m the prettiest girl on the show!”
“I’ll let you film me in the bath. It’ll cost you 1 million beri!”
Franky: Loved the camera! One sided on the producers part since they didn’t enjoy Franky’s sense of…ahem…style.
He would dance, be loud, or show off his cool body.
If he was in the confessional room, it was to complain openly to the producers on why they did him dirty.
“Hey! I saw last weeks episode! Why did you cut my scene out, bro?!”
Ussop: Although not nearly as popular as Nami, Ussop was interesting enough to get some viewers watching the show, even unintentionally.
Ussop used the show to make himself seem cooler, mainly through the confessionals.
The lies he told caught the attention of viewers worldwide, though very few could sees past his lies.
The producers didn’t care, so long as there were viewers.
“Yes it was I! The Great Captain Ussop who defeated CP9!”
“Wait wait! Cut that out! Cut that scene out! I meant SniperKing!”
Chopper: The Worlds Favorite Cutie Pie!
Choppers looks alone were enough to win the hearts of viewers! Mostly the female reindeer mink.
Combine that with his child like innocence and he’s instantly a popular household name!
On top of that he already has many sponsorships from multiple sweet brands. (Mainly cotton candy ones.)
Choppers pretty shy on camera and often does his usual dance when he’s nervous. The audience eats it up.
He doesn’t gossip. When it comes to confessionals, he’s usually talking about Zoro’s recklessness when it comes to bandages, or Sanji’s nose bleeding habits.
Jimbei: Not particular interested in TV or fame, but used being on TV to his advantage to spread his word and try stop discrimination against fishmen.
The producers found him boring and didn’t look forward to filming him, especially at confessionals…but at the very least, he was able to bring in views due to his former status as a warlord.
Robin: Had many admirers! She enjoyed being on the show. Often is seen on screen on a lavish shopping trip with Nami.
She does her part to make the show more interesting, whether it is be her dark sense of humor or putting her devil fruit powers to good use.
She once used it on a producer when he asked her to do something suggestive for views. After that, the producers never messed with her again, out of fear for their lives.
Not much for confessionals though, except when she’s expressing how amused she is at Luffy’s antics.
She may appeared to be calm and quiet but you better believe that the rumors she would stir up, would get the people talking!
Piers Morgans was having a field day with the headlines:
“Did Cat Burgler Nami Get Breast Implants?!”
“Roronoa Zoro: Honorable Swordsmen or Man Thot?! Gets Caught Sleeping with Wano’s Most Beautiful Woman!”
“Is Monkey D Luffy, Secretly Seeing His Crewmates Sister From the Germa Kingdom?!”
Brook: Fans loved seeing Soul King on screen. In some episodes he’s either playing music or he’s attempting a panty raid in Nani’s room. Which often results in him getting beat up by her every time.
Anything he says in the confessional‘s ends up with his signature laugh.
Law: Made a special guest appearance since starting hiw alliance with Luffy.
You can imagine his look of surprise, when the crew showed up on Punk Hazard with a camera crew and all.
He wasn’t at all interested in being on TV. His famous “I hate bread” made him an instant fan favorite. And meme along the fanbase.
He didn’t like that…
Law hated being followed around by the camera crew on the Thousand Sunny or when he simply just wanted peace. He frequently scolded the producers to stop or told Luffy to call off the cameras, but neither listened.
He only wanted to discuss the alliance plans in private with the crew and didn’t want the producers to catch any of it for the world to see.
As time went on, and Law was getting sucked into the Straw Hat shenanigans. He found himself wandering into the confessional where he would frequently complain about the crew. Mainly the captain.
“Mugiwara-ya will be the death of me…”
“Rorona-ya has no sense of direction…”
“How has the crew survived this long? They don’t ever strategize when it comes to making a plan!”
Viewer Reactions:
Sabo: Enjoys watching his little brother on screen, and always has a good laugh. Koala would often scold him for abandoning his duties to go watch the show.
Hancock: Would briefly abandon her duties as Pirate Empress for the whole day if it meant, she could watch Luffy on screen.
Took up most of his fan mail, and gifts that had meat.
Hancock would be envious of Nami and Robin on her screen, wishing she was their with Luffy.
Mihawk: Reality shows weren’t his usual choice of television entertainment, but he did watch, soley to watch over Zoro’s progress as a swordsmen. He would lie if Perona asked him if he found what he saw the slightest bit amusing.
Ace: He got a kick out watching his little brother on screen. Often laughing at Luffy’s antics. He saw that Luffy’s crew was slowly riding in more views on the reality show The WhiteBeard Pirates had. Ace wasn’t too worried but he knew he had to step it up.
Shanks: Often shaking his head and smiling in amusement at the sight of Luffy on screen. Would sometimes watch the show with Ace as the two spoke fondly of him.
Big Mom: Was furious that Luffy was racking in more views than her crew combined. Everyone used to love Big Mom’s wedding cake special episodes.
“MUGIWARAAAAA!” *Smashes TV*
Garp: Nearly choked on his crackers at the sight of his crazy grandson invading his screen.
“LUFFY NOOOOOO!”
Smoker: If any marine soldier was caught watching, Keeping Up with the Straw Hats, you better believe that he’ll would be raised at HQ. in secret though, he would watch it. Not for entertainment, but more so to study the Straw Hats moves.
Buggy: Screeching out in jealously seeing Straw Hat Luffy was popular enough to be given his own show and not him.
Kid: Was sitting at a bar one night and spat out his drink in anger at the sight of Straw Hat on his screen.
Nearly popped a blood vessel when he saw Law on screen.
“The hell?! Even Trafalgar?! How come those bastards get their own show?!”
Killer remained silent. He knew the reason why the Kid Pirates never picked up the rights to a pirate reality show was because of how scary Kid was.
Dragon: Used the show as a way to keep up with his son. Although in secret, since he didn’t want his army to notice.
Germa 66: Mixed reactions.
“That’s no son of mine.” Judge would say.
Reiju giggled at the sight of the screen. After a mission, she would look forward to watching the show to see her brother.
Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji expressed annoyance and criticized Sanji. Although would never admit that they were each jealous that Sanji got to be on a reality show instead of the Germa Kingdom itself.
Yamato: Wants to be on the show. Not for the fame, but mainly to spread the word and tell the world what a horrible father, Kaido is and spread Oden’s legacy to the world.

It’s heaven in your arms
Well, this is just a clusterfuck of emotions. Let me lead you down the path of grief and mourning only for it to end with a bed sharing trope.
I have no idea if there are even people that like the original trio together romantically, but I was really vibing, so hopefully I can convince some of my regular readers to take the plunge.
If any of my ZoNami readers are here, I’m doing the requests you all sent in – I swear!
I’m not sure what to expect from posting this, so I’ll say this once pre-emptively: if this isn’t your cup of tea, you know where the door is, please leave quietly.
Summary: It may have been two years since Ace’s death but, for Luffy, sometimes it still felt like just yesterday. Or, sometimes, something beautiful can blossom from a place of hurt. Rating: T
You can also find this on AO3 and FFN.
Nami awoke, eyes burning from lack of sleep and mouth dry. It was still dark outside, and she grumbled to herself at waking up so early, but it was no use. She wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep until she had a glass of water. She swung her feet off the bed, clumsily trying to find her slippers before getting up. It was warm outside, so she didn’t bother with anything other than her pyjama top and shorts.
As annoying as it was to be awake so early, it was peaceful. It was a quick shuffle across the deck and into the kitchen, where she filled her glass hastily, already thinking about getting back into bed.
That last thing she expected when leaving the kitchen was the sight of Luffy sitting on the railing, facing the ocean with his feet kicking over the edge. Reckless as always it seemed.
“If you fell, no one would be around to save you,” She lectured.
His shoulders hunched; she’d surprised him it seemed, but he didn’t react as she’d expected. There was no carefree laughter or beaming grin as he told her not to be a worry wart. Instead, she received a muffled, “You’re up.”
Without looking at his face she didn’t know how to take that but his whole attitude was off, and it had alarm bells going off in her head. The comfort of her bed a distant memory now as she walked over to the railing to join him and settled her glass of water beside herself.
The words on the tip of her tongue vanished into the night air when she finally caught sight of his face. His eyes were red and puffy, his face pale despite his constant tan and drawn. It was an expression she’d never seen on his face. He looked defeated.
He looked tired.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
He shook his head, just as she’d expected him too and uttered out a quiet, “No.”
“That’s okay, but I’m going to sit here,” she told him. He could sit in silence if that was what he wanted, but she wouldn’t leave him, that wasn’t an option.
She took his hand in hers because whilst he may not want to speak, he’d always been a tactile person and she couldn’t just sit here and not do anything when there were tears still running down his face.
They sat in silence, only the sound of the waves hitting the ship could be heard with their thighs pressed snuggly against the others and his hand clasped in hers, a thumb absently roaming over the skin of his wrist. His tears had resided for the time being, only the stray one falling every now.
She felt like she was sitting with a deer, trying not to spook it because it felt like any wrong move would have him scampering away.
Well, that was until he pried his hand from hers and she was going to say something until his head feel heavily against her shoulder and an arm wrapped around her body. That was all she needed to let herself relax, no longer worried about scaring him away as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders to pull him closer.
It was another long moment of them sitting like that until he whispered in her shoulder, “It hurts.”
“What hurts?”
He was silent but the tears were back as she felt them soaking into her pyjama top.
“I had a bad dream.”
“Yeah? What about?” She encouraged softly.
“About him.” His voice cracked as he said it and his shoulders shook.
There was only one him she knew of.
“It played in a loop, and I couldn’t do anything.”
Although she was being fed the information in dribs and drabs, it wasn’t hard to piece it together. She waited for him to continue but the long pause told her he wasn’t going to.
She thought about what she’d want in that moment, if their roles were reversed, what she’d want from the other person sat with her, so she settled on, “I only met him briefly, tell me more about him. What was it like growing up with him?”
He was quiet and for a moment she didn’t think he was going to respond, that maybe that wasn’t what he wanted at all.
“He hated me when we were younger,” he said wetly, fighting through tears to talk. “I caused trouble, couldn’t fight and cried a lot. He called me cry baby all the time.”
“He didn’t when we met him in Alabasta though.” She remembered how he’d looked at Luffy, eyes full of adoration and voice warm as he asked the crew to look after Luffy for him.
He huffed out a laugh at her words, such a stark contrast to his normal boisterous laugh.
He told her everything. How Ace had gone from despising him to accepting him as a brother along with his other brother, Sabo, how they’d caused trouble together and had the best times together. How he’d made Luffy’s childhood a happy one.
It made her ache. Because as he talked, selfishly she thought about her own sister. How devasted she’d be to lose her, someone that felt like her other half since before she could remember, knew her better than anyone else, who she could talk to about anything. It was hard to explain a sibling relationship to someone without one, there was a different feeling to, you felt it in your core.
Mostly, she thought about how hollow she’d feel.
It felt like an unspoken rule that siblings were for life. You knew that parents were older and that they’d pass at some point in your life, but not your sibling. It felt like they were meant to be with you for life, that you’d grow old together and have each other’s backs no matter what to the very end.
She supposed that was part of the grief.
Although she didn’t know the ins and outs, even now Luffy was edging around his dream and what’d happened back then, she knew the key details - how Ace had jumped in front of him to save him. How Ace had died before his eyes. Even if she suspected there was more to that moment than what she knew, it was traumatic enough.
Another tangled chain to unwrap from the knotted ball of necklaces that was grief.
Ultimately, she didn’t need to know what the dream was about or what’d happened back then, because the picture she had in her mind was vivid enough and she knew how he felt. Watching someone slip away before your eyes, helpless as you watched them go and wishing you’d done something different.
Her heart bled for him as he spoke, words blurring into his tears, she could feel her own eyes prickling as sadness overflowed.
Hands clumsily wiped at her face and belatedly she realised Luffy had stopped talking. “I didn’t mean to make you cry,” he said.
Without thinking, she wiped his face in return. “It’s okay, I’m glad I get to share this with you.”
She cupped his face and she meant it as a soothing gesture, yet it seemed to have the opposite effect. Watching his face crumple before her eyes was so much worse than how she’d imagined it when his face had been buried in her shoulder. He was so expressive all the time that she shouldn’t really be surprised, his lips quivered and those big eyes scrunched as he tried to hold back his tears.
“I know I still have so much, and I should focus on that…”
“But that doesn’t make that little part feel any better?”
“Yeah.”
“I know. It’s not going to either.” He nodded glumly at her words, staying silent and she suspected it was because he couldn’t form words. “You love him. That’s not going to disappear no matter what happens.”
She continued because she needed to say it, to let him know this was okay before she the moment passed, and he locked this all away to deal with another night. “You’re allowed to mourn him, you’re allowed to feel sad without feeling guilty, but when it overwhelms you, tell one of us, okay?” She paused, thinking over her words, before adding, “And even when it doesn’t overwhelm you and you just want company, come find us.”
“Okay.” He sounded choked up, more so than before.
She brought him back into a firm hug, running her hands up and down his back, letting her words sink in and giving him a chance to speak or cry more if he wanted to.
His next words told her they were done for the time being.
“I don’t want to go back to sleep,” he said.
She didn’t have to ask why. She still woke up sometimes in the middle of the night, tears in her eyes as she relived all different versions of Bell-mère’s death, each worse than the last. She knew that he feared having to relive his worst nightmare over again or catching even a whisp of his brother behind closed eyelids, taunting him over the fact that that would be the only way he’d ever be able to see him again.
“I don’t either,” she lied smoothly, “We could raid the fridge-” Sanji would understand- “or I could show you a new card trick or we could go draw on Zoro’s face. He’s probably up in the crow’s nest and he sleeps like a log.”
Luffy grinned, it didn’t reach his eyes like it normally did but that was okay, it was an improvement on the solemn expression from before. “Usopp just bought new markers!”
They both turned at the sound of heavy footsteps and the very person they’d been planning to mess with was stood only a few steps away.
“Why do you two look guilty?” He looked suspiciously at them both.
Neither of them answered, but she saw the moment Zoro noticed Luffy’s face and took in his red, puffy eyes and worn expression. His demeanour changed instantly, he looked serious, and he didn’t say anything more as he joined them on the railing, pressing up to Luffy’s vacant side and taking his other free hand into his- he could probably feel that it was wet from Luffy’s tears.
The ocean lapped silently against the ship and whatever plans her and Luffy had made seemed to be put on hold as he stayed sat on the railing, but that was fine with her, she was happy to sit there with him in silent support.
“It should’ve been me,” Luffy finally spoke, voice sure but only a whisper.
Those were heavy words, she imagined how often that thought circled around in his head and how hard it must have been to finally say it out loud.
“That’s stupid,” Zoro said.
“Zoro,” she hissed. For his blunt words and because Luffy looked on the verge of tears, it made her heart crumble all over again.
“Ace loved you a lot and he didn’t do it for you to think that; he wouldn’t want that. It was his choice and he made it and he’d do it a hundred times over.”
He made a good point, she knew that, but a tough love speech felt too soon.
“Zoro’s not stupid all the time,” Luffy defended weakly, smile wobbly.
Maybe not.
“Oi.”
Nami shook her head, smiling slightly at their antics. “Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. Shall we agree it’s a 10% smart and 90% stupid?”
Zoro tried to look miffed, although it was betrayed by the smirk tugging at his lips. He knew what she was doing, trying to lighten Luffy’s spirits, so he let it slide.
“Well, we can’t draw on Zoro’s face now-” Zoro glowered at her- “but if you want an extra challenge, we could get Usopp or Sanji.” They were light sleepers; she knew he’d be up for the challenge.
Luffy smiled, nodding tiredly and stifled a yawn that had her and Zoro sharing a quick look between them.
“You can sleep with me if you want,” Zoro offered nonchalantly and Luffy perked up at that.
She should leave them to get on with it. They’d made their arrangements already and in the back of her mind, she knew she should, but Luffy’d told her so much, it felt callous to just palm him off. And maybe, somewhere deep down she didn’t like the thought of being left out. Maybe.
The words were out before she’d properly thought them through.
“You can both sleep in my bed.”
“Like a sleepover!” Luffy said and his eyes brightened, a shimmer of what normally resided there returning.
“It’s a one-time offer and no one tells Sanji!” Nami warned even though Luffy looked considerably lighter and Zoro was smirking at her. She didn’t doubt Zoro would store that away to use against Sanji later, but she’d deal with that then. And if he decided to blab, she’d then have the perfect opportunity to charge him, and he wouldn’t be able to say a thing.
The walk to her room was quiet, only the sounds of their shoes thumping against the deck with every step, getting louder and louder as they got closer to her room. She wondered if she’d regret this. What if she’d made it awkward? She should’ve just let Zoro and Luffy bunk together.
Opening the door felt heavy, like something awful would be waiting for her on the other side. Instead, there was just a dark, muted room to greet her and the awkwardness she felt doubled to the point she wondered if the other two felt it too. She wasn’t sure if she was thankful or not that Robin was still asleep, facing away from them.
All those thoughts were put to rest as Zoro and Luffy moved past her, seemingly more than comfortable with this arrangement than her. Zoro shucked off his boots and settled against the far side of the bed so his back faced the wall and Luffy kicked off his flip flops, his hat already sat safely on her bedside unit.
“Absolutely not,” Nami whispered fiercely, hands on hips and they both peered up at her quizzically. “I’m not sleeping on the edge only to wake up on the floor. Zoro, swap.”
“What, so I can wake up on the floor instead?”
“You can sleep anywhere!”
Luffy had snickered at their bickering, watching them go back and forth until he seemingly grew bored of that and stretched his arm out to wrap around her waist. As his arm snapped back, he dragged her with it, she collided with the both of them in her bed. Like a true rubber man, Luffy looked unbothered although she was fairly sure she’d kicked him, but Zoro wheezed behind her as she’d winded him with her elbow.
“That hurt!” Nami moaned.
“Think before you do that!” Zoro grouchily whispered.
“There we go, now we’re all cosy.” He ignored them both, nestling down into the bed as his arm reached across Nami to rest over onto Zoro.
“Luffy!” She squawked, rosy faced. “Move over! You have all that space!”
This was not what she’d had in mind when she’d invited them… into her bed. Although she didn’t have a massive bed, she’d thought they’d at least try to keep their distance, she hadn’t expected this. Luffy was so close she could feel his breath on her face and his hair brushed against her forehead, no doubt mingling in with her own strands. She could feel Zoro spooned behind her, his own arm outstretched across them both and she was only now just considering how appropriate her pyjama shorts were. Which was ridiculous, it was only those two.
All of this didn’t feel right, they were there for Luffy, he should be the one in the middle not her. He should be the one squashed between them, safe and warm and feeling supported, not her. Yet one look at his face put all of that to rest. You could still tell he’d been crying; the puffiness would take a few hours to go down, but he looked relaxed, the tormented and weight in his expression gone.
He looked content.
And that was enough right now for her brain to shut off, thoughts pushed to the back for another day, and have her burying into the warmth from the two bodies next to her with the knowledge that everything would be okay for now.
----------------------------------
This was meant to be a one-shot, but it’s now a two parter at no one’s request. I’m writing/editing the second chapter right now; it’s on its way.
I used to ship LuNami hard when I was younger, but I think I’ve lost my ability to write them romantically nowadays… unless you throw in Zoro and then it’s back on apparently.
I write and edit all my pieces by myself, so if there’s any errors, please excuse them.
Thanks for reading.

The Only Thing I Got Right
Pairings: Ace x Y/N
A/N: I just finished watching the Marineford Arc and I cried so much so I wrote this on a whim. Sorry in advance if there are grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. It's the tears' fault, I swear! 😭 ((I just desperately wanted Ace to survive, you know? 😭))
This song reminds me of Ace, idk why.
Tumblr media
You’re shaking. It would’ve been nice if it was because of the cold or if it was from excitement, but this isn’t the case. You’re shaking from fear, from anxiety. Today, Ace, the love of your life, is going to be executed and you didn’t know if you’d make it on time. You barely got out of Impel Down alive with the help of Ace’s little brother, Luffy.
You hate the fact that you got thrown there with Ace courtesy of Teach, or should you say, Blackbeard. You hate the fact that you couldn’t save Ace from Blackbeard no matter how hard you tried fighting him. It was frustrating, but if a Devil Fruit user like Ace had no match for him, what more of you? You have no powers like that, the only thing that you have is your knowledge on Rokushiki and daggers.
You got imprisoned at Level 3 of Impel Down while Ace was rumored to be on Level 5. Being thrown on a relatively lower level was understandable, even if you are part of Whitebeard’s crew, you are no commander like Ace. Still, even if you are weaker than Ace, you desperately wanted to go get him out of there but it was impossible. Or so you thought.
When you saw a Straw Hat on a male running around with two others on Level 3, you instantly knew it was Luffy. It seemed like god was in your favor because apparently one of your cellmates, who you came to learn was Mr. 2 from Baroque Works, was Luffy’s friend. When he got Mr. 2 out of the shackles, you begged to come with them, telling him your relationship with Ace. Luckily for you, Luffy needed all the help he could get so he easily got you out with the help of the other prisoner he was with. It was all chaos after that.
You’re currently hiding in the crow’s nest of the Marine ship you helped steal alongside Crocodile, Mr. 1, and Jinbei. Your body is already aching from all the running and fighting you did just to escape Impel Down. But even before that, your body had already been tired from the lack of nutrition and of sleep. How could you even dare to sleep knowing Ace was somewhere else, probably beaten to a pulp? And if that wasn’t enough, the sudden knowledge of him being executed in a few hours added more strain and tension to your body. You didn’t want anyone to see you in such a state. You didn’t want anyone to pity you.
But if you’re hurting this much, then it must’ve been so much harder for Luffy. You make a mental note to talk to him before crashing to Marineford. For now though, you need to rest — not only for your body, but for your mind as well. You have to be ready, the worst is yet to come. When you closed your eyes, you welcomed sleep like an old forgotten friend.
Your sleep didn’t last long, however, because of both the nightmare of Ace reaching out for you with bloodied hands and of the waters that suddenly rocked the whole ship. Before you could even get down the crow’s nest, the ship abruptly stilled and the air chilled. When you looked down, you clenched your teeth at the sight of the sea that turned into ice.
A mental clock was ticking like a time bomb in your mind. How were you supposed to save Ace now?
As if hearing your question, Luffy started gathering the people in the ship about his plan. At this point, you would do anything just to get to Ace so you didn’t hesitate to help him in his plan on freeing the ship from the ice. But the next thing you know, you were falling after kicking the thick layer of ice as hard as you can.
Just as you looked down to where you’re supposed to land, you realized that it was Marineford and the war had already started. With a little tilt of your head, you see Ace in the scaffold, shackled up. Worry was etched on his face, his focus on Luffy. You could almost hear him saying how stupid his little brother is.
Was it wrong to smile at the sight of him at a time like this? But how could you not? He’s still alive! You have a chance at saving him. You release a sigh of relief.
You try not to draw his attention to you. He already has a lot to worry about — namely, the Whitebeard pirates, the allied pirates, and Luffy. It was a good decision that you didn’t change out of your prison clothes, it was easier not to get noticed by him this way. For all he knows, you’re just one of the many escapees Luffy helped. You want to keep it that way. At least for now.
There’s no time to waste, so when you landed, you immediately head off to the direction of the scaffold. After seeing that Ace was still alive, you feel yourself get pumped up again. You fight each and every Marine who tries to stop you.
No matter how hard each blow you receive, no matter how painful each swipe of the swords you get, no matter how many times you get knocked down, you keep on fighting. You keep on standing up. There’s only so much your Tekkai could do when you’re severely outnumbered. Nevertheless, you keep on going. Nevermind the multiple cuts and bruises you have. There is only one thing in your mind and that is saving Ace. Even at the expense of your own life.
From the way Luffy fought at Impel Down, you know he’s incredibly strong and tenacious so you find yourself backing him up. You don’t go near him, knowing Aces attention was on him, but you guard him from your side. Not a single Marine was able to pass through you from your side of the battlefield. But you can’t cover every area for him. Despite that, he managed to take down anyone who was in his way.
Your ears are ringing from all the overlapping noises of guns being fired, screams of agony from pirates and Marines, swords clanging, and hurried footsteps. At one point, you block all of the sounds while you focus on your own breathing as you run.
Even when everyone stopped moving to watch as Pops descended the Moby Dick and made his move, you continued running. You have to keep up with Luffy. There’s no way you’d let Ace die.
The only moment you actually stopped running was when Luffy unconsciously used the Conqueror’s Haki. So he can do that too, you thought.
That was also the moment you actually got to look at the surroundings properly and realized that Pops had been stabbed. Your knees buck from the sight and you fall down. Regret immediately flooding your body. You’re so focused on trying to save Ace that you didn’t notice Pops needed help too.
The Marines took this opportunity to attack you. Just as a sword was about to hit you, McGuy blocked it.
“What are you doing, Y/N? Snap out of it. This is war. There’s no way we’d be able to rescue Ace if you don’t get your bearings straight!”
The harshness in his tone brought you back to reality. He’s right. Pops ordered everyone to lend their strength to Luffy, and that’s exactly what you’re going to do.
You, along with everyone else, push yourselves to your limits to help Luffy. He did not disappoint. He even punched his own grandfather, Garp, just to be able to reach Ace and free him.
The moment the scaffold collapsed, you almost collapsed with it. Tears start falling from your eyes as you see Ace finally free from his shackles. A smile has finally graced his face as he fought side by side with his brother. At that moment, you think that he’s at his brightest when he’s with his sworn brother. You couldn’t be any more happier.
Now that he is free, it’s time to figure out how to escape. Everyone’s running towards the ships but you stop after noticing Pops wasn’t making the same movement.
“The order I’m about to give will be my final captain’s order!” Pops announces. “You and I will be parting here.”
Your breath hitched at the declaration.
“All of you, make sure you survive, and reunite with each other in the New World!”
You don’t listen to whatever he says next. You refuse to. You stand your ground. You’re not going to abandon the man who warmly accepted you into his family without hesitation despite knowing all of the crimes you committed.
As if sensing your refusal, he turns slightly to your direction, “Are you disobeying your captain’s orders?!”
Stupid old man, he should know by now that you’re no good at following orders.
Ace is one of the last persons to follow his order. You turn away from the conversation they are having, knowing it was a private matter.
When they’re done talking and Ace finally starts running towards the ship, Pops turns to you. He doesn’t talk, he just looks at you.
Shame suddenly overcomes you. You didn’t get to stop Ace from coming for Teach. When he left, you begged Pops everyday to allow you to set sail, promising that you’d bring Ace back. When he finally allowed you, you didn’t waste any time. But even when you found him, you couldn’t bring him back, it was too late and you were just too weak. It was your fault this happened. “Pops, I’m sorry I—”
“I did this. This is all my fault.”
“But—”
He shut you up with his stare.
“Let’s leave here together,” you plead.
But he doesn’t reply. With his stare, you can tell that he isn’t backing down on his order, no matter how much you persuade him to. You release a shaky breath. With tears streaming down your face, you gave one last bow and one last thank you.
And then you ran.
The others are already further away from you but you notice a group of them stopping in their tracks. There in the center of the commotion is Akainu and Ace, seemingly discussing something.
There’s no time for this, you thought.
“—In other words, Whitebeard is an eternal loser, who will never surpass Roger. That’s all he is. Everything I’ve said is the truth,” the admiral says. “He reigned the seas for decades, yet he never became a king or gained anything.”
You clench your jaw at the bullshit he’s spouting, after everything Pops had done to save you, you’re livid to hear him be deduced as a loser. But regardless of the anger rising in front of you, you know this wasn’t the time to get riled up.
The thing is, Ace gets easily riled up. It’s one of his flaws as a person. So when he starts walking to Akainu’s direction, Izo is first to shout, “Don’t fall for it, Ace! Turn back!”
But it’s no use.
That’s when you let your presence known, you shout at the top of your lungs, “Just turn back, Ace!”
Everyone whips their head at the sound of your voice, except Ace and Akainu.
Even you, who are usually able to keep Ace in check, couldn’t snap him out of his anger.
It’s too late.
They exchange blows. Ace falls down, magma is far greater than fire, after all.
“The Pirate King, Gold Roger. Dragon, the Revolutionary. These two men’s sons being stepbrothers is quite a frightening thought.” Akainu says.
When he looks over at Luffy’s direction, you immediately know what he plans to do. You don’t even think twice. There is no second to waste.
“Soru.”
The sound of your voice finally reaches Ace. His eyes widen in realization of what’s going to happen.
“Wait!” He pleads.
But before he could even stand up, you already placed yourself in front of Luffy. “Tekkai.”
But the admiral’s strength and power is far greater than your ability. His fist goes through your chest.
“Y/N!” Ace shouts.
The rest of Division Commanders are in shock.
Akainu clicks his tongue at the sight of you and detaches his fist from your body.
You slump, Luffy catching you in the process. “Oi, Y/N-chan... What did you…? Why did y-you d-do that?” He asks.
In no time, Ace comes to Luffy’s side. “Y/N…”
You smile sweetly at the two men and then you turn to Luffy. “You’re Ace’s brother, silly. Of course I’d do this for you.” You cough out blood and then hiss at the pain.
“Stop talking!” Ace demands.
While Luffy and Ace are distracted, Akainu makes his move once again. But the slight motion didn’t go unnoticed by Jimbei and the Division Commanders. Even if you aren’t a Commander, you acted like Ace’s right hand. To the crew, you’re as important as Ace is. There’s no way they wouldn’t fight for you. So altogether they start covering for the three of you.
You feel your body shutting down on you. You could barely hear Ace calling for a doctor and Luffy desperately asking Ivankov to help you. But you know it’s no use. “I… can tell my body is at its limit,” you whisper.
Ace doesn’t agree, then he gently takes your body from Luffy. “No, I’m going to find someone else who can help—”
“Ace…”
“—you. There’s got to be someone who—“
“Ace… My organs have been burnt. I know this’ll be the end of me.”
“No, don’t talk like you’re dying, Y/N!”
“But I am…” You say. “Look Ace, don’t worry, okay? I was prepared to die when I came here. I was ready to die just to get you out of here.”
“Why would you…”
“Because I love you,” you whisper. “You know… when I take a look at my life and all of my crimes, you’re the only thing that I think I got right.”
Ace hides his face on your neck as he hugs you. With the little strength you have left, you give a comforting squeeze on his shoulder. “Don’t go around disobeying the captain’s order and don’t go around breaking your promise to Luffy. You said you won’t die, right?”
You feel Ace nod at your words.
“Go to the ships and take everyone else. Please don’t follow me too soon.”
Ace hugs you tighter, panting as he continues to cry.
A small smile reaches your lips once again. At least this time he’ll listen, you think. “I can’t raise my voice anymore but please tell Pops and everyone else, even Luffy, they made my life worthwhile. I’m sorry if our journey ends he—”
You didn’t even get to finish your sentence because darkness had consumed you.

The Voyage So Far: Fishman Island
east blue (1 | 2) || alabasta (1 | 2) || skypiea || water 7 || enies lobby || thriller bark || paramount war (1 | 2) || fishman island || punk hazard || dressrosa (1 | 2) || whole cake island || wano (1 | 2)
Tumblr media
i know i’ve said it before but i really, really love the entirety of reunion arc. it might be short, but there’s just so much fun and joy packed into it after the extremely fraught and upsetting paramount war. there’s something exhilarating about seeing characters who could barely compete on the world stage two years ago not just come back from nigh-obliteration, but come back so much stronger. this is true about fishman island as a whole as well, really, which is the main reason i enjoy it so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
every time we get to see luffy flex his conqueror’s haki absolutely fills me with delight.
Tumblr media
brook’s return to the crew is, i think, the most meaningful of all of them. he knew them for, what, a week or two in-universe prior to the separation at sabaody? and in the two-year interim, he becomes basically an extremely successful rock star known worldwide and selling out stadiums. and yet he doesn’t hesitate a moment to drop all of that, to declare before the world that luffy is alive and will be king, because he might have only known the strawhats for a little while but they saved him, and he’s going to see his dream through to the end with them.
Tumblr media
this is possibly my favorite panel in all of one piece. it just makes me so fucking happy to finally see him again!
i’m a big fan of oda’s choice in not revealing his full design until this moment, so that we get to see him finally appear in all his glory the same moment the rest of the world does, just in time for him to explode back into the public consciousness and fuck up sentoumaru’s whole day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i feel like i might be repeating myself a little with regards to reunion arc, but i don’t really care- it just makes me happy. this spread where luffy finally arrives back at the sunny- look how delighted they all are to see him! look how much they missed him! the strawhats are such a family, even though at this point they’ve just spent far more time apart than they’ve ever spent together, and i just adore them so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
roger is one of my favorite flashback characters and definitely one of the characters i wonder about the most, and a lot of the thoughts i have about him circle back around to this panel right here. where did he get the hat? why did he give it to shanks? why did he choose to set out to sea who is he-
Tumblr media
i think about kuma a lot. for such a minor character his tragedy is immense, and i would really like to know more about him, why he chose to do the things he did, what his relationship with dragon and the other revolutionaries was like- whether there’s any chance he can still be saved.
Tumblr media
fishman island is absolutely gorgeously drawn. i’d call it absolutely the prettiest setting in the series until wano, and i think that, like wano, it’s clear oda was waiting to draw it for a very long time. the amount of detail and care put into all of the big establishing shots is really breathtaking.
Tumblr media
one of the reason i think fishman island is so fun is because the comparatively lower stakes, combined with how much stronger the strawhats are, means they get to be at their most fully chaotic best. they take ryuuguu palace hostage almost completely unintentionally, off-screen, and then immediately start bickering and making ransom demands. i love them so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love luffy and shirahoshi’s relationship so much- i love how much she trusts him to keep her safe, and i love how easily he does it. i love how he’s brutally honest with her but never really mean and how he encourages her to open up her world and do new things even when it’s scary and dangerous, and lets her take things at her own pace.
Tumblr media
i think the sun pirates’ symbol is probably my favorite jolly roger in the series, both because it’s so well-established in the story, all the way back to arlong park, and because it has so much meaning. the shadow of fisher tiger’s life and death is cast over the entire story long before we even know he existed.
the symbolic destruction and replacement of the slave brand with the rising sun is so, so cool, and the knowledge of the reasoning behind the symbol also makes it clear long before its confirmed in-story just how empty hody and his crew are. their versions of the symbol are open, with the silhouette of a decapitated human, because they have no brand to cover.
Tumblr media
i care so much about koala and fisher tiger, and the relationship between them as two former slaves and two deeply injured people, and how fisher tiger still manages to muster the strength to be good and gentle to her even after how much humans have hurt him.
i think it’s really a shame that he never got to see who and what she grew up to be as a direct result of his kindness. i think he would’ve been really proud of her.
Tumblr media
i’ve always really liked that otohime isn’t perfect. she’s not as flawless as she first appears to be- gets angry and frustrated and even drunk and shouty when her own people won’t listen to her trying to help them, and it makes her feel so much more real. her patience and pacifism feel much more admirable when we’re also shown how hard she fights to keep them up. she works to be good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
one thing i like in one piece is how much value is placed on just the value of knowledge, of writing, of reading and understanding. it’s visible in how one of the rarest powers in the world is the ability to hear the voice of all things, and in the poneglyphs, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
one of my favorite things about luffy is how he becomes a hero by trying not to be one. he doesn’t care about how people view him, and he never has; he really only cares about his friends and loved ones. it’s just that he’s also an incredibly easy person to befriend, and if those friends need help, then he’ll help them, regardless of the cost. most of the island-saving he does is just positive collateral to luffy’s driving desire for the people he cares about to be safe and happy.
Tumblr media
i have always loved strawhat group shots ever since back in east blue when the crew was just three people, and they’ve only gotten more exhilarating as the crew has expanded and full-crew shots have become less common in the new world. it’s always just awesome, seeing them all together and united for a common purpose, whether it’s saving robin in enies lobby or kicking hody’s ass here.
Tumblr media
my friend zeph grainjew calls moments like these, where other members of the strawhats deal with a problem so luffy doesn’t have to, ‘honor guard moments’, and i really like them. they’re a display of both the loyalty luffy’s crew has for him and the trust luffy has for them right back.
Tumblr media
the thing about shirahoshi is that she’s not a coward. she’s a crybaby and overemotional and extremely skittish (which, for the record, is fully understandable for someone who’s been the subject of constant assassination attempts since she was six), but when it comes down to it, she’s fully ready and willing to let herself get killed by the noah in order to protect her people and her country. she’s so brave.
Tumblr media
i sometimes see people complain that the villains of fishman island are flat and boring, as though that’s not the whole point, as though the entire arc isn’t a treatise on the importance of not passing hatred down to children. of course hody and his crew are hollow, they’re the equivalent of malcontented shitty white men who become neo-nazis because it’s easier to blame minorities for their problems.
luffy’s victory over hody itself is nothing. it’s easy, it’s only barely a challenge because they fight in the open water and luffy is a devil fruit user, and in the larger scheme of the one piece world, hody is nobody to even take notice of, no matter how grand his ambitions might be. what’s important isn’t hody’s defeat itself, it’s that the children of fishman island see luffy come when shirahoshi calls, and that at the end of the arc, they all want straw hats of their very own.
Tumblr media
this might genuinely be a coincidence, but i’ve always liked that fishman island, an arc all about inheritance and what we pass down to our successors, is when luffy first pulls out red hawk, an attack clearly inspired by ace. inheritance can positive or negative- the negative examples in this arc are obvious, but there are positive ones, too. we can also see it with koala and fisher tiger, or with jinbe and both of the legacies he’s shouldered. it’s up to us what we leave behind.
Tumblr media
for all that fishman island isn’t the strongest arc on its own, i do think it has by far one of the strongest endings. it’s an arc all about hurt and loss and how it gets passed down and renewed over generations, and it ends with a return to zero. everything’s not better, but the wound’s been cleaned and bandaged, and now it can finally, finally start to heal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and into the new world we go! with skies full of fire and oceans full of lightning, looking just like the entrance to hell- and all our crew can’t wait to get there.
