tron fic recs??👀
Hi there! I have to preface this by saying I mostly read (and currently write) Sam/Tron (or Rinzler depending on the fic). While I do read a bunch of just general Tron fic, I tend to have a ship I like and stick with it.
I am really enjoying Salvage What You Can by TooManyTeeth, more so the concept then some of the ideas. (I don't ship sam and quorra), but I can get over those for the concept of Rinlzer and Tron being in the same Grid and not the Same People, and Rinlzer finding out he's the 'evil twin' as the tags put it. I'm only on chapter 14, and there have been some moments that have down right broke my heart. Lots and lots of Rinzler angst.
Want some fluff about pre movie Tron and Clu learning swear words?? No Stupid Questions by bowiesinspace is the fic series for you! It's crack (in the since that it's silly, not you know. weird). and Just an all around fun time.
While this one has a bit of of Sam/Tron in it, the pov is Alan and it's not exactly about Sam and Tron, it's about how Alan feels, seeing and being around Tron, and is very very emotional. But also my second favorite fic in the fandom. And that is Mea Culpa by 2019-2020 (EnglishLanguage).
My first favorite fic is by the same author, and that is Genesis. I don't have words for this fic honestly. It's from Sam's POV, and it's about him coming back to a completely empty Grid. There are lines in this fic that literally left me gasping for air. It's almost GEN but there's hints of the fact that there will be something more between Sam and Tron.
I'll be a bit of a silly goose, and plug my own fic here, Whatever Here (That's Left of Me) part one has no shipping besides Lora and Alan, and is about Sam fixing the Grid from the other side of the screen, having a lot of family moments with Alan, Lora and Quorra and talking with Tron. The second part will be about Sam and 'Tron' falling in love. (which knowing me and my writing, means also at least two smut scenes). So if you just want to read part one that is a-okay with me!
Lastly, in this category I am recommending every single one of Solar_Siren's fictober collections. (and one Angstpirl challenge in there as well) There is a lot of different ships in here (Mostly Tron/Yori) and a lot of Uprising stuff. A lot of REALLY good fics in here.
and now the rest of these will all be just Sam/Tron.
for T rated fics,
Sam and Tron going on a first date, and it's not going as well as Sam would like but they have a good time. Falling in Tandem by bowisinspace (I also rec all their fics. they are all very nice. The kudosbot fic??? HUh?? Why am I emotional over a little ai?? *cries*)
Late Onset Digitalism by EnglishLanguage & Lobster_Emoji is not finished, but I really enjoyed this fic, and I don't think it ended on a clif hanger? I only read it the one time though. I still think it was worth the read. another Sam fixing the Grid fics, but with some fun twists.
We Are Pilots by shirozora is a CLASSIC samtron, and just Tron in general, fic. I read this fic once a year and its just. really good. Sam goes back to the Grid to try and see if Kevin left any clues on what he meant by 'Quorra will change the world' and instead finds Tron, and a Grid in chaos. (One small note is that, even though it's rated T there is some smut towards the end.)
E rated Fics:
First two are longer fics where the smut is only a scene or two. Last one is a smutty one shot.
Someone Has To Draw First Blood by dreamlittleyo is another classic. Kevin took Sam to the Grid when he was a kid, and only luck is the reason that Sam didn't go with him that night of the coup. When Sam shows back up as an adult Tron follows him out the Grid, and then they fall in love.
One Miracle at a Time by dreamlittleyo another 'Sam goes back to the Grid' fics. I haven't read this one in a while, but I remember really liking it. I should reread it soon. Maybe I'll do it tonight.
Patience, Sam Flynn by bowiesinspace (how many of their fics have i recced haha). Short one shot, it's very nice, I love the end cause they get very snuggly.

“For a while,” Harry continued, the idea taking hold. “Hang out with my mom. Work on my script. Be with you.”
Louis had already resigned himself to the fact that this weekend was a crack in the space-time continuum that would soon close, sending him and Harry back to their respective, very different lives. It would be a memory that would keep him warm when he was an old, old man – that time one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful had kept him on his hands and knees for two days straight.
He wasn’t so stupid as to hope for more.
“You’re crazy,” Louis scoffed.
Harry’s eyes shone. “Am I?”
A few weeks after Louis and Harry, *ahem*, reconnect at their high school reunion, Harry temporarily moves back home. Louis isn’t sure he has the emotional fortitude for a prolonged fling with the man of the dreams.

So if you guys are in the Top Gun fandom at all, then you 100% should read Landslide. Millie is one of the best author's and sweetest people you'll ever interact with. And this story? It'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry, and it will 100% make you want to throttle some people.

It's politics + the Daggers. But this AU has a sexy President Bradshaw and an equally sexy Vice President Seresin. This fic has its fair share of jaw-dropping, angst-inducing moments, and I loved every minute of this rollercoaster ride. Wise-woman is one of the most powerful female characters, and I adore her.

In addition to curating this Be Kind Rewind, Jay is also one of the most amazing writers in this entire fandom. Her entire To-Do List collection is beautiful. Jake and Mrs. Seresin have a relationship that defies the ages and is way too damn sexy to boot. The chemistry these two have with each other? It's electric!

hi! my name is manishika sahoo, but i prefer to be called mithi.

I Still Miss Someone by RosalindBeatrice: This is basically exactly what you described - it's a three part series, it's lots of angst and yearning, and some smut. It's so good! Really delves into John's psyche and his life at the Dakota. Definitely check this out if you haven't -- it's the gold standard for John house husband fics!
Bermuda by @scurator: Takes place during John's trip to Bermuda. I thought of it because you said "phone call" years and there's a memorable phone call scene in this! obviously anything by this author is gorgeous!
Something Borrowed Something New by @inspiteallthedanger: John decides to go to Pattie's wedding and the Beatles have a reunion and he and Paul connect. John going back to England after so many years of being away is really poignant.
The Jumper by @merseydreams: During his house husband years, John sees a picture of Denny Laine wearing Paul/John's jumper and he loses it. John's jealous POV in this is so good, especially when he goes to see Wings and it brings up a lot of feelings.
I know you asked for longer fics and these are a bit shorter but these are also so good, and John and Paul seeing each other in NY during the late 70s, definitely will bring up the feelings that you're looking for:
six hours in august by stonedlennon: John bumps into Paul at a gay bar in New York. They try to forget each other. August, 1979.
I Wish I Had a River by @savageandwise: New York City, winter 1978, against his better judgement John goes to Battery Park to meet Paul.
Adventures In Total Honesty by merseydreams: John and Paul both end up at the 1975 Grammy Awards, and at Elton's after party.

A Million Words Hang Between Us Both: set during season 2 (written before ep 15 was released) this is a series of late night conversations between william and dakota! a snippet from the first one: "So, he’s doing a lot of thinking. And maybe a lot of shoving thoughts into mental boxes with the promise to unpack them later but with the intention of never touching them again, if he can help it. Ideally, he’d like to just fall asleep. But that’s too much to ask, apparently. At least it means he’s already awake when Dakota starts nudging him, though." it has 1 chapter and is 12.8k words long

Charlie thinks Mac is, and has always been, in love with Dennis. Once Dennis leaves for North Dakota, Charlie and Mac have a talk and he discovers that maybe it was never Dennis.
A whole bunch of adorable yet kinda sad (bittersweet??) trans Charlie moments about him and Mac growing up while Mac never realizes Charlie is trans. He’s always seen him as a guy and when Charlie comes out, he says it could never change how much he loves him.
Mac and Charlie being domestic and shit idk this one is real sweet. Charlie tells Mac all the things he loves about him.
Mac and Charlie being domestic pt.2! They get hitched, Las Vegas chapel style. Fair warning for this one; excessive drinking and drug use, the boys do shit while they’re drunk, nothing that’s really out of character but Ik some people don’t like that. Another warning for talks about past sexual abuse and dream sequences about it.
(This one is my personal fave because I, just like Charlie in this fic, show love through making corny playlists) As a teenager, Charlie has a bit of a crush on Mac and makes him a very obvious mixtape full of love songs. As Mac reminisces about it years later, he realizes that ‘holy shit Charlie had a crush on me but I have a crush on him now hopefully he still has feelings’

short and sweet and silly! 1.4k in which bobby and rufus may or may not have drunkenly gotten married after a successful hunt.

super cute little 1.8k story set during the early days of bobby and rufus’s friendship, right when they first started hunting together. this one does a great job getting inside bobby’s grief about karen and how that affects his relationship with rufus.

2.2k look at bobby and rufus’s relationship across the years of bobby’s life. this is great because it’s totally canon-compliant and a adds different layer to their relationship that you can feel when you watch the show.

7.7k. this fic is sooo fun and genuinely very sweet. it’s a case fic set in 1992 in which bobby and rufus think a republican running for governor of south dakota is possessed by a demon. bobby’s perspective in this is so in-character, and i actually laughed out loud a few times. featuring baby sam and baby dean!!! actually one of my personal fave supernatural fics.
Sharp and Unnecessary Perils by depressaria *
10.4k. this one is FASCINATING to read. i love alternate timeline/time travel-y stories, and this has that in spades. bobby sells his soul to crowley after rufus dies in 6x16, and he interprets bobby’s request to make it right rather loosely. it gets a little dark, but it is soooo worth the read. great bobby character study if you’re into that.

every parting, every reunion is a little .8k story about the two of them being resurrected post-series. it’s rufus pov and was written for spnpocweek
