yeah, okay. I just put in my two weeks' notice at my school janitorial job, and let me tell you, after working this job, I promise every on-screen adaptation of a US high school after-hours is a lie.

Lies:

only one janitor

for some reason there is never any type of security when they break in after hours.

no alarm

no walkie-talkies

Doors are always open

or, doors are never locked

No one grumbling about how dirty the drinking fountains are

FOR SOME REASON THE JANITOR ONLY HAS A MOP. I assure you, janitors use more than a mop. AND WE DOn'T ALl WeAr OverALls.

If there is staff, it's usually one elderly man with a beard and a scowl. And this man is supposed to clean the entire school by himself????

For some reason when they need to steal keys from the janitor, they have to get it off of the janitor. Buddy. There are like. He has an office. Where I worked, we have an entire cabinet of keys.

Oh! No janitorial office/supply closets. Yes, plural.

no on-floor sinks

No chemical bottles

No chemicals? I don't think I've ever seen someone use chemicals on screen. (Or doing anything but push a cart around. Hey! We collect the trash and clean windows and the freaking DRINKING FOUNTAINS.)

janitor always has the key or never loses it. (Keys get passed around like hot potatoes throughout the entire shift. Literally, I need someone, just once, to attack the head custodian with the intention of getting a key before realizing he already gave it to another employee like ten minutes ago, but when they go find THAT employee, they already passed it to someone else)

if something goes wrong in a school, guess who shows up first? Usually the janitor. They are janitor/matience/security/angry little man/woman/nb

something beeping and the police getting called. (Ha. one time I saw the security guy literally rip the beeping thing off the wall, told us to change the batteries, and then left)

No vacuums

This is not a hard job. Buddy. Look at me. Every job is a skillset you need to learn.

when i was really young, maybe 3/4th grade, we had this custodian that everyone was afraid of. or at least they acted like they were afraid of him.

he was pretty old, had mostly brown hair but was beginning to lose pigment in some areas. he was also really tall and blind in one eye, which i think is why everyone was so scared of him. i remember kids would avoid him when he was working in the lunch room and sometimes whisper back and forth to one another while in line to go back to class.

but i remember him being so kind and sweet. he would always laugh when we would bother him about his height, making annoying comments like “my mom said coffee stunts your growth!” and he would just laugh at us and show us the coffee in his thermos. and make some remark about how it made him big and strong. or when we would throw away our trays and he’d stand by the garbage disposal and help, taking kids trays and dumping them so we could run off to our lines. or when some older girl, maybe 8th grade, accidentally threw away her retainers she just got. she (pretty dumb if you ask me, but i suppose we all were then) wrapped her retainers in a napkin and then tossed them onto her tray. she forgot about them and then of course threw them away. i remember watching this custodian dig threw the garbage cans to find the napkin while she stood there and cried. and eventually he pulled it out with a smile and handed it over.

she didn’t thank him, which i’m upset for him about. i’m sure it didn’t bother him and he was used to it, but he was genuinely a good man. he had a good heart. i wish i could meet him again and thank him for all the kids that didn’t. i’m not sure what his name was or where he’s at now, but i genuinely hope he’s well.

Vampire Misunderstanding

So! Danny got adopted by Bruce Wayne, but he doesn't know that Bruce is the Batman. He is just supernaturally oblivious to all things Batman related going on in the House.

But he does notice that Bruce leaves home a lot at night, that he doesn't like to go out in the day and often has his parties at night, and once or twice he's caught Bruce with a bit if blood still splattered on his cheek.

So he comes to the only plausible conclusion. Bruce is a Vampire.

He starts trying to hint at the fact that he knows, but doesn't want to just go out and say it. What if Bruce reacts negatively to him knowing? He's dealt with enough Supernatural Beings to know that they don't like other people (and especially other supernatural beings) intruding on their lives.

So Danny decided to subtly hint at it.

He started asking questions like "So hypothetically, how would you deal with having a Garlic Allergy in Gotham?" Or "So if you had very sensitive skin that could sunburn extremely easily, how much cloud cover would you need to go outside?" And "So what's your opinion on a High-Iron Diet?"

Basically just tossing out questions and trying to Guage Bruce's reaction.

He thinks he's doing a good job!

...

Bruce is certain that he has adopted a Vampire.

Danny is a good kid, but he has a few oddities that are hard to ignore.

For one, his skin is constantly Ice Cold, but he never seens to be bothered by it. As if he was an Undead that didn't require Body Heat anymore.

He also seems to like Hanging out in the Graveyard outside, and when asked about it he says that he is comforted by the place. Just like the Vampires he has met in the past, who feel comfortable when surrounded by Death.

And of course the biggest reason for suspicion is the fact that Danny seems to be hinting at it to him.

He keeps asking stuff like "How would you deal with a Garlic Allergy in Gotham?", probably trying to hint that he is a Vampire who can't eat Garlic, or asking about easy to sunburn skin, saying that he is probably not a Daywalker.

Bruce hopes Danny will just come clean about it soon, he doesn't want to intrude upon the kid when he is so obviously nervous about how he will react.

💸 DON’T BUY THE ETF! Great! 💸

☄️ Now that the spot ETF on Bitcoin has been approved, it’s time to ignore it. Yes, that’s right. The approval of the ETF is more important than the product itself. Buying the spot ETF won’t get you real Bitcoins but “paper” Bitcoins, which is a financial product that tracks the price of Bitcoin.

☄️ Buying the ETF is equivalent to buying Bitcoin on an exchange. The Bitcoins are not owned by the user. Out of the eleven approved ETFs, eight have chosen to rely on a third-party company for fund custody (nine cases with Coinbase, one with BitGo, and another with Gemini). Only Fidelity has decided to self-custody its bitcoins.

☄️ For many people, buying ETF shares will certainly be easier, but why not learn to buy real Bitcoins and take control of your money? Why should anyone give up all the advantages of owning real Bitcoins?

☄️ In short, the approval of the ETF may be an exciting event, but have you ever tried to buy real Bitcoins without KYC?

💸 Not your keys, not your coins 💸

☄️ The first disadvantage of buying ETF shares is the control of your money.

💸 If you don’t own your private keys, you don’t own your Bitcoins. 💸

☄️ This is one of the most important maxims within the Bitcoin community. The user who has full control of their private keys is the sole owner of the Bitcoins and the sole responsible for the security of the funds. Moreover, the quantity of Bitcoins held by custody companies can attract the attention of potential external attackers.

💸 Privacy 💸

☄️ All brokers and intermediaries through which you can buy the ETF will undoubtedly require identity verification and fund source procedures, known as KYC & AML. These procedures compromise user privacy. In contrast, a normal non-custodial wallet requires no KYC & AML procedures.

💸 Confiscation Risk 💸

☄️ Although it may seem like a very remote possibility, the risk of a potential confiscation of all Bitcoins held by custody companies by the U.S. government is not zero. In a scenario where Bitcoin continues to attract liquidity from other markets and fiat currencies, with the U.S. dollar in distress, the U.S. government might consider such a move. After all, a similar event already occurred on April 5, 1933, through Executive Order 6102, where the U.S. government decided to confiscate private citizens’ gold.

💸 Other ETF Disadvantages 💸

- The only action possible with the ETF is selling ETF shares for fiat currency. - ETFs apply management fees. If you directly own Bitcoins, there is no cost to hold them since there are no intermediaries. Over time, ETF fees can increase. - The ETF can only be bought and sold during traditional financial market hours.

☄️ Unfortunately, as much as each of us may recommend self-custody, there will always be entities or individuals who will not want to take responsibility for holding Bitcoins but rely on third parties. The market will decide what people want. Most likely, millions of people will never have real Bitcoins but “paper” Bitcoins.

☄️ After all, even Hal Finney already in 2010 hypothesized for the first time the creation of “Bitcoin banks,” institutions that hold Bitcoins in their reserves and issue a token redeemable in Bitcoin. Somewhat like banks did when they held physical gold in their vaults and issued citizens redeemable banknotes in gold.

💸 SAVING WITHOUT PERMISSION. 💸

☄️ One of the many injustices inherent in the political and economic system we are immersed in — and certainly one of the most impactful aspects on our quality of life — revolves around the thorny issue of saving, increasingly inconvenient and now impossible to pursue under the current fiat system. Needless to say, Bitcoin fixes this.

💸 UPSIDE-DOWN WORLD 💸

☄️ Say what you will, the fiat system today prevents saving. A worker, a company, a family, or a saver, even if they wanted to, cannot save today. They don’t have the ability to save.

☄️ When a currency imposed by law and in a monopoly regime loses purchasing power over time by design, saving funds in euros loses all meaning. Saving in euros becomes irrational. Indebting oneself becomes convenient.

☄️ In just the year 2022, the currency we are forced to use within the eurozone has lost an average of 12% (yes, it’s worth emphasizing: twelve percent!) of its purchasing power. We are all 12% poorer in a year (not to mention nominal, not real, data). All this without indulging in unrestrained luxury and without any fault of our own.

☄️ Today, an individual finds themselves in the surreal situation where, after earning their well-deserved salary through hard work, they are inevitably forced to do a second job: frantically searching for a way to prevent the value they just earned from degrading sadly over time, eaten away by inevitable inflation.

☄️ Hence the recourse to financial consultants and market experts to decide not so much if, but where to invest their savings: in stocks, government bonds, some fund, bonds, even in stock markets or other forms of investment in an attempt to “make their capital grow” so as not to see it degrade sadly.

☄️ Translated: our assets are not safe at all but are continuously exposed to more or less dizzying risks. Practically, we are forced to gamble with our savings.

☄️ The cause of all this is quickly said: to use a euphemism, the currency we must use today is at least inadequate concerning what a monetary instrument should primarily guarantee, namely, Store of Value.

☄️ The fiat currency printed out of thin air is (intentionally) a lousy store of value.

💸 WRITTEN WORDS FLY AWAY 💸

☄️ The words present in the Italian constitutional charter, according to which institutions have the interests of citizens’ savings at heart, sound truly ironic.

☄️ The Republic encourages and protects savings in all its forms; it regulates, coordinates, and controls the exercise of credit. ☄️

☄️ Besides the harm, therefore, there is also the mockery. It’s not the spoken words that fly away (there is little sense in being scandalized by the empty words of politics). It is precisely the written words that are happily contradicted and denied through fraudulent practices against savings.

☄️ The curious thing is that these practices (including, fiat currency imposition by force, or fractional reserve practice) are legalized today… by the institutions themselves!

💸 RETURN TO NORMALITY 💸

☄️ How to shield oneself from this situation, finally taking back control of our savings, and consequently, our economic, emotional, and psychological well-being?

☄️ To get out of the impasse, it is necessary to overturn the monetary instrument at the base of our society through a sound and honest currency like Bitcoin.

💸 If governments, central bankers, or unlikely authorities — nowadays less and less credible — attempt the implausible to impose their fiat currency printed out of thin air, preventing us from saving, well: it doesn’t matter. Faced with the existence of Bitcoin, which every 10

minutes continues relentlessly to give us lessons in applied economics, now the emperor is naked.

💸 I don’t think we can have a sound and honest currency without first taking it out of the hands of governments. If we can’t do it with violence, we must come up with a stratagem, introducing something they cannot stop.
