the narrative importance of dapper and pomme being the ones with empanada right now..........................
dapper, who survived attack after attack after attack, who held out the longest at the time at two lives and who learned to tank anything possible just to stay alive longer. the egg who went down because every chance of defense was taken from him.
pomme, who hasn't known a life without death and fear, who was killed so brutally with no chance of even thinking, who didn't lose a life but feels that death in her bones still. the egg who learned to protect, and run, and fight because she needs to do it all. the little girl who would rather die than see her siblings on the line.
they know. they understand. they'll crowd around her and build walls out of bubbles and extend love and kindness and understanding.
and the sun will rise, and the fear will melt away one day.

... Megatron having a glitch in his coding that puts him into a constant state of low-level heat. So he's alluring but not irrestible, has the secondary valve but most importantly, pretty much up for a frag at any time.
He is stubbornly not telling Knockout about this but also Optimus is looking a little too good on the battlefield today—

actually making a solo post for this one because i think the sentai daishikkaku op is already a strong contender for not just op of the season but op of the year for me (and might be one of the most striking and memorable ops i've seen in several years)
pretty much every season there's at least one op song that goes hella hard and becomes my instant op of the season, but usually it's just the music (or primarily the music) that propels an op into first place for me
but this one! love the music for sure but it's the visuals that do it for me, the whole look and style of the op plus the themes? chef's kiss holy shit
there is something like... almost hauntingly beautiful about this to me. the puppet strings, the hands, the visages in the cracked glass, the stairs that don't go anywhere, the utter hopelessness of the shot in the palm of sousei's hand!! it captures the whole like hopelessness of fighter d's plight so well, but isn't a dreary op (just like it's a bleak but not dreary show)
anyway even if you aren't watching sentai daishikkaku this season i highly recommend giving this op a watch, it's so cool even as a standalone music video

difang idea: a-fei gets amnesia again. as a joke fdb claims he's married to dfs, thinking dfs will also clock it as a lie like he did with llh. except a-fei readily accepts this and now fdb feels increasingly bad about tricking him
alright, so first off i'm going to direct everyone to the 方笛 edit i've rewatched the most, which is also along the lines of "fang duobing tells a-fei that they're married and a-fei goes with it" (although fang duobing ends up less remorseful about it there heh)
but no please, give me fang duobing realizing he accidentally assigned himself a husband who will follow him wherever he chooses to wander, and trusts him without question. trusts him, because a-fei has an impression of standing in this carriage of a house and being asked to call someone master, a word too weighed down by shadows in his mind whose shape he can't make out. but fang duobing doesn't request that of him, fang duobing simply tells him they're married, they're one, and if he had some other motive against a-fei then why would he lie about them being equals and tying their lives together like that?
cue fang duobing staring up at the roof at night wondering what he's done, while a-fei sleeps with his back to him, not even a dagger within arm's reach. and that vulnerability is premised on an unthinking little lie, as was a-fei eating dinner with him pressed shoulder to shoulder; as was him running fang duobing's hair through his fingers, arm braced comfortably at his back, in some strangely gentle tease. but regardless of the reason it doesn't mean that that trust isn't real and it's slowly dawning on fang duobing that maybe he actually wants it, wants all the little details of this facade to be genuine. how does he possibly explain all that to a-fei, though, that the start of this was a joke but that he's changed his mind and doesn't want it to be one?
and what will he do once it's di feisheng who looks him in the eye again, not the man who believed fang duobing could love him (but who, with that blind faith in him, turned out to be right)?

Bruce telling Steph Tim’s civilian identity, Dick transferring the Robin mantle to Damian, both things that can be described as Batman giving away Tim’s identity, neither of them bothering to even warn Tim first, let alone ask.

Tunuva lit her flame. ‘You carry this, too. Does the orange tree mean nothing to you any longer?’
Gashan looked at the fire, and for a moment, something yielded in her eyes. ‘It did. Once,’ she said in soft Selinyi. ‘But I will not be its prisoner again, Tuva. From what I hear, neither will Siyu.’
‘Did you warn him against her?’ When Gashan held her silence, Tunuva said quietly, ‘Upon my return to the Lasian Basin, I will tell the Prioress that you have seen fit to forsake your duties. Farewell, sister.’
gashan, who so far has refused to speak selinyi with tunuva (the language spoken in the priory and their shared mother tongue), and instead uses libir-dialect lasian (one of the examplifications of her choosing lasia in general and the royal court specifically over the priory), finally speaking selinyi back to tuva, but only as she denounces their shared home, truly turns her back on the priory…
and tunuva! who has been calling gashan sister for the entire chapter, even with gashan’s refusal to call her the same thing back, calling to her sister (trying to make her see sense, trying to get back what and who she once knew), now calling her sister one last time, in farewell. she is not just saying goodbye to gashan, is she, but also to gashan being her sister?
just. Man. samantha shannon sure does know how to make a scene hit huh

hungertown posting again. the whole circular logic of justifying the hunger games is very "Why We Build the Wall". That song is about the circular logic of maintaining manufactured inequality...
Why do we build the wall? We build the wall to keep us free
How does the wall keep us free? The wall keeps out the enemy
Who do we call the enemy? The enemy is poverty / because we have and they have not
What do we have that they should want? We have a wall to work upon!
why do the districts hate us? because we control them through the hunger games. why do we do the hunger games? to remind us that violence is our nature. why must we be reminded? because the capitol must stay in control. why must the capitol stay in control? because the war will never end. why will the war never end? because the districts hate us. etc.

kicks my feet thinking about midas. thinking about him being so freshly summoned that his body is still mostly human-ish, save for his tail and horns and some very light cosmetic differences. thinking about any scars like top surgery scars his host had slowly looking more and more like kintsugi as the tour goes on. thinking about it starting as little tiny flecks of glittering gold where the skin has healed over that look like glitter stuck to the skin, and how it would slowly spread until the 'glitter' joins and he's left w/ kintsugi marks across his skin. thinks about that so much.
thinks about it thinks about it thinks about it.

In your writing, you frequently mention that Nerevar keeps his nails neatly trimmed, so they wont brother him when he fights.
So I was just thinking about Nerevar doing his nails routine while Voryn his brushing his hair or doing his makeup, like a nice morning bathroom moment between them while they're bitching about other people.
I just wanted to share that with you
i love this mental image. nerevar trimming and filing his nails while voryn is putting on his makeup. very domestic moment very cute

thinkin about the things stede says to ed in high stress points of ep5:
“don’t debase yourself…” (there’s a meta i like that talks abt how this was probably how stede was taught when people taunt you or bully you: don’t sink to their level. he’s trying to lift ed up but is inadvertently saying ‘don’t show that he hurt you; that’s just as bad as what he said’)
and jumping to “how could you?” when ed explains the fuckin prawn situation (we know this is because he knows how cruel these people can be, but it’s interesting that he deflects the blame to ed, even unconsciously)
and i had a stede is fucking autistic brain blast
at least for me, i got into a lot of trouble because my reactions were always louder/bigger/more disruptive than the original action. or because by fighting back it was therefore my fault for escalating.
chief advice from my childhood: don’t let it get to you; they’re just doing it to get a rise out of you, don’t take the bait.
and that advice was attempt at comfort, at guidance, but it (i’m very sure completely unconsciously) translated into let people hurt you and don’t ever show it, and if you do it’s your fault what happens next.

"It would disrupt gravity, our environment, magnetic fields. It might even swallow us up whole. Science is neat, but I'm afraid it's not very forgiving." - Scott Clarke
Going INSANE rn
I know this got pointed out awhile back in regards to Mike plagiarizing his essay, so to speak, but with the whole Creelarke context, my Gears are turning!
Scott says gates can swallow you -> Mike says El's shirt swallowed her -> gates start swallowing people
I also wonder- if Scott knew what was going on to any extent any truly wanted the kids to find Will and was being encouraging- what was he warning them about at the end?
Brenner? Henry? Vecna? Virginia? Alternate universes?

Hmm. This sounds good in my brain but IDK.
What about a fake relationship AU where it’s the mid -late 90s and Steve is running for some kind of office according to his dad’s ‘roadmap’ to the white house. Billy’s maybe a campaign lawyer or a member of the public relations team? They get off to a rocky start because Steve is still expecting that fucked up kid from high school. Steve’s past reputation as a party boy isn’t testing well with voters.
When Nancy (a journalist) calls him out during an interview for being a flakey rich boy, a frustrated Steve blurts out a rah rah speech about how his past behavior was a cry for help due to never being allowed to be true to himself because of the expectations of others. But he’s realized it’s all bullshit and wants to be a better person and do something meaningful with his life, starting with being honest about who he really loves for once. Nancy, not realizing that he’s being metaphorical is all like ‘Wow Steve, so brave. So progressive. Tell us about your lover!’ and Steve panics and describes Billy because Billy was the reason he realized he found men attractive and it’s not like Billy’s going to know.
But Billy definitely knows lol, and after the interview Steve’s dad is ready to burry him six feet under but since young voters are popping out of the woodwork to support Steve now, Billy’s like ‘we can totally use this’. Cue him and Steve fueling the rumor mill by being seen on fake dates and outings, coming out of each other’s apartments ect, as the public goes rabid over them. Billy and Steve make a great team even though they push each other’s buttons. Billy helps Steve put his thoughts & feelings about ways to help the community into actionable plans, and Steve is a safe place for Billy to start to relax, because he feels like he has to always be ‘on’ and winning at something to prove he’s worth the second chance that life gave him. Steve’s torn up about it though because he can see how much their ruse really means to people, and also he thinks he might be falling in love with Billy after all these dates and cozy sleepovers. Billy’s just waiting for him to realize he’s already moved in and anytime he says the word those sleepovers can be sexy ones too.
