Priory of the orange tree
just finished day of fallen night and it resparked my hyper fixation so here’s this
Tané: gods always speak in mysterious riddles
Nayimathun: I just said, “you are enough”
Tané: I may never know what they mean

please tell more about the giant crow creature. I love it tremendously
I don’t have too much to share about this critter other than the concept sketches I made trying to refamiliarize myself with bird / dino/ dragon anatomy lol - I don’t think I really nailed what I wanted until I got to the comic pages it appears in.
I wanted something vulture / raven like - with a long neck it could tuck close into its body to resemble a roosting raven, but LARGE. They are about 4-5 feet tall (the one next to Goma in the drawing should be a wee bit larger) but have an enormous 15-20 foot wingspan. It didn’t occur to me until I was putting it on the page to add a wattle / skin flaps just to make it a little more grotesque.
Hopefully you have an idea of their role in the ecosystem by the design (and a bit more information will be provided in the comic!) They have a powerful sense of smell to find their food, usually scavenging dead things, but they have been known to be rather opportunistic, especially when they occasionally travel in flocks.

I just saw a post some days ago about people missing ROC this year and GOOD NEWS!!
ROC will be back in 2024!!! 😍
Translation of the most important bits:
"During the past two years, 'Race of Champions' always took place in Swedish Pite Havsbad. In September, the organisers already announced that that would not be the case this year.
'Due to recent uncertainty about the use of the beach- and sea area, Pite Havsbad cannot be the host of the Race of Champions', the press release said at the time. Since then fans await a new date in vain.
Some fans were already worried, but now it's certain: "Race of Champions" will take place again in 2024. A spokesperson told DER WESTEN: "We are in advanced discussions with a number of potential venues for the next Race Of Champions and hope to announce in the next few weeks where the next event will take place and which drivers will take part."

Redrawing my old comic idea Paper People. I don’t know if I’ll ever finish their story. But I love these characters.
