prompt #78
“Keep walking.”
The hero feels the cold press of a gun against their back, and their hairs rise on edge. Still, their expression is unchanging, feeling a hand clamp down on their shoulder. They just catch a glimpse of the villain’s face, unmasked.
The both of them were in civilian clothes.
The villain walks close behind them, concealing the gun in the busyness of the bumbling crowd. The hero manages to crack a grin.
“Is that a gun or are you just happy to see me?”

I was going through some posts and a lot of people have noted how similar Miri and Rei's reactions are.
I wonder if that's supposed to show Rei re-growing up. Cause I mean, if you think about how he acts and reacts, it is very childishly. He acted semi-childishly when it came to the cat thing
But I mean, we see him and Miri react the same way, and I think he unconsciously sort of sees Miri as a way to re-live his childhood and re-discover things he didn't have much of an opportunity to experience

The only time Moon's wings are ever touched is <not counting that one incident> when they need to be groomed, which is not an easy task without help. So Vanny usually has to help him with it
The lack of physical contact leaving them well beyond hypersensitive
That in itself is extremely uncomfortable for Moon even more so after the failed escape incident
And extremely painful, because she's always so rough, it always feels like she's trying to scrub them raw
It takes everything in him not to scream in agony, he just buries his face into a pillow or bites down on his hand in hopes of at least keeping himself somewhat composed
But unfortunately for him, she does notice and does everything in her willpower to make every touch pure agony. And on top of that it takes a really long time, at least an hour or two
His poor wings always end up raw, and extremely overstimulated afterwards, and understandably so
Though, now that he's in a much safer environment everything is very different. When Sun found his twin trying to groom himself he insisted on helping
Moon... reluctantly agreed, laying down on his stomach and preparing himself for the inevitably excruciating pain that was it was gonna cause
Only for it to never happen
Instead of feeling sharp bristles scrubbing painfully against his flesh, he felt much softer bristles begin to gently card through his soft feathers. Alternating between long careful strokes and slow circular motions
Heck, he even rubbed up and down Moon's back and whispered soft comforting reassurances to him whenever he let out small whimper or flinching whenever he hit a particularly sensitive area
These highly unexpected, but loving gestures caught him completely off guard. But it most certainly helped him relax and remember that hey, you are no longer with that psychotic b*tch
Afterwards, Sun obviously snuggled him closely while petting his wings to help him get used to the feeling
@madcatdaderpydrawer-blog I found some more wholesome within the dark depths of my brain lol

it's such a bummer that losing control of your emotions only makes the entire situation worse in really embarrassing personal ways. losing control of my emotions should give me pyrokinesis.

everybody’s always on writing prompts like “what if there was a world where everyone had a timer ticking down to their death… but you met someone whose timer said infinity!” or “what if everyone had their cause of death tattooed across their forehead… but you met someone whose forehead said THE CREATURE!” Enough -
enough. stop with the shock value. there is no need to insert THE CREATURE; the benign concept of such a world is horrifying enough. not even in urgency, but just in banal, everyday interaction. imagine you meet someone and their timer says two years. not tomorrow, not urgently soon, but two years. enough to do quite a lot. they could fall in love in that time - could they get engaged? have a baby? you might otherwise get to know them, befriend them, but perhaps you opt not to, make a conscious choice not to invest in your own grief. what balancing act would every individual person have to participate in - I have ten years, is that long enough to be a good mother to children? is that long enough to secure a caretaker for my own mother? my wife will die a few months before me. my newborn’s timer reads nineteen years.
and cause of death. you interview for a job and emblazoned across the healthy, smiling face of the HR lady is MALNUTRITION. your country is prospering, safe, but every person you meet on the street from the babies to the old women read BOMB. BOMB. what kind of havoc would fate wreak on the world? what about the loss of privacy? how would that shape our notions of hope? idk man I think a lot of those ancient poems were right, and the fates are monsters. I’m interested by the framing of these ideas as trite horror tales when the premises themselves are so much more disturbing if simply taken to their logical ends

i used to be so good at writing strong, thoroughly-researched, thoroughly-edited essays.
as a kid in hs, my teacher literally came up to me, holding my 40 page essay on the intersection of the European witch hunts and capitalism/exploitation/gender roles (it was supposed to be 7 pages...whoops) and went like "this is literally a master's-degree level thesis. what are you doing?? you could literally use this as your final dissertation in a master's program, what the fuck."
NOW??? NOW?? you'd think I'd be oh so skilled. but alas. i can barely piece together two ideas. adhd skill-regression is so so real. im SOBBING

"free palestine," he shouted until his last breath.
aaron bushnell, we will never forget you.
as much as bushnell's actions has moved us all, please seek other ways to take actionable measures against the injustices we face in the world. none of us wanted him gone, and the least we can do is prevent another such tragedy by supporting each other in our efforts to enact lasting change.
