Donnie

- if you’re a human, he’s (begrudgingly) driving you and picking you up from school. I mean, what kind of brother would he be if he let you walk the dangerous streets of NYC by yourself?

- fr though imagine your classmates faces when you pull up in that big ass turtle tank

- Regarding school, the best to go to for help with homework/schoolwork

- ^ and listen, he tries his best to be patient with you. that’s all I’m gonna say 😭

- Donnie doesn’t really treat you much differently than he treats your brothers, just a little bit more careful and EVER SO SLIGHTLY more patient with you

- will let you hang out in his lab while he works on something if you swear up and down on Splinter’s life you will not break, touch, or LOOK at anything

- If you want an honest, unbiased opinion he’s the brother to go to

- Ole Donatello is not the best at showing he really cares for you and loves you with words and actions, but just know he does and would never let anything happen to you

- Carries you on his back like he does with April

- Lectures you as well but just because he wants you to be safe and not do dumb shit (not as gentle as Raph tho)

- If Raph can’t, he’s the one protecting you and shielding you during missions

Mikey

- actually the “cool” brother (Leo remains hella jealous)

- since you two are the youngest I could imagine you’d be pretty close

- always wants to try new things with you: snacks, video games, recipes, pretty much down for anything

- invites you to watch YouTube with him if you’re bored

- If you’re a turtle mutant like them, he’ll ask to paint or add stickers to your shell and plastron

- cooks for you when you’re hungry

- if you attend, he makes sure you always have an after school snack + packs your lunch

- if you’re ok with it he is super affectionate with you

- Lets you vent anytime you need to about anything! He’s always going to be there for you and is the most compassionate of your brothers.

- You, Leo, and him doing stupid tiktok challenges and trends at 2am

- Believes in you no matter what. So, so supportive of any dreams or goals that you have. :)

I wanted to mix in some of Time Woods design cause I thought it was cool but also I'm attached to my tabby stripes designs stuff. Also his eyes are like that because when raoh was possessed one of her eyes was turned pink and I thought it'd be a cool element to keep. Also yes raph is tall I take no criticism

Like, it's cool when it's mild whump followed by comfort but I draw a line at torturing him, that's a plain big No for me, my inner Sonic gets very angry and upset when Tails is continuously physically and mentally tortured.

22. When he's allowed to act his age! I love it. I also love it when he's written to show fox traits and when it's clear who raised him, Tails getting reckless and impatient and quipping at his enemies etc.. And I don't like when he tortured too much, like I said, it doesn't sit right with me. And also when he is written as too mature, not letting him banter or be reckless and excited about little things. (Basically in combination of both these questions, Tails for me is not the torture-him-blorbo, he's the so-precious-protect-him-at-all-costs blorbo)

Ayo, check my pinned please!

TW: Angst, fighting, self deprication, kidnapping

Im a little rusty on my writing and It was kinda rushed but I wanted to get something out… hope its okay!

You wake up in your own bed, April sitting next to you

she looks over and sees you’re awake and hugs you

she explains everything that happened

but you already knew

you remembered everything

Month 1

April and y/n we’re both in the same robotics class, in-fact thats how they became friends last year, having classes with each other!

Last year it was mathematics

lets just say you aren’t the best at math but you’re passing!!!

“Hey Y/n wanna have a sleepover at my place? I got a new game we can play”

“Ill buy the pizza?”

“mhmm”

“Bet! im down for a sleepover!!”

You high five each other, then the conversation turns to code. You help each other in the class and then head to your next period.

The day was going great

but when night came things kinda got out of hand

You walked to April’s house, bag in hand.

*knock* *knock* *knock*

Mrs O’ Neil opens the door and greets you happily, she allows you in her house and you thank her kindly.

You walk into the living room, setting your bag down by the couch. April comes out of her room and hugs you, she holds up the game only for you to be surprised! It was the brand new (Fav game)

You squealed in excitement with april and you both sat on the couch, ready to play.

At around 3AM you and april were still playing the game, what can you say it was good!!!

But then you heard some strange knocking on her window, you both turned and looked before april laughed and said

“Oh its probably the shutters, let me go fix them!”

You kept your eyes trained on her as she opened the window, you turned back to the tv but then heard…shouting??? you turned back confused, whose she talking to?

“Everything okay april?” you ask, curiously

She nods and shouts a “YES! Yes! totally fine!”

you hear two people mumbling, someone saying “quit shoving!” and then BAM four turtles humanoid things fall into the living room through the window

“uh” *laugh* “I didnt know we were having company april”

Thats how you met the turtles, and you all hung out for the rest of the month

You all played games

went out on missions

and even had movie nights together!

but then suddenly

they shut you out, only to hangout with you when April was around, and they didnt want you going down to the lair anymore

“We’re just really busy”

“Donnie blew up the place, again”

“There’s paint everywhere!”

“I spilt a very dangerous chemical”

They always had some sort of excuse but even then April was still allowed down, why weren’t you?

They ignored you all of the second month.

It was just you and april and honestly, you missed them, the adventures, all of it!

And then then now

all contact with them ceased, they didn’t respond to texts or calls.

April was still hanging out with you, you had both gone to a skating rink on the 23rd

What you failed to notice was that you two weren’t alone

Cassandra and her two leaders were there too

on a stake out

They watched closely as you conversed with an associate of the turtles, they figured if you know her you have to be a threat too!

They will remember your face

they dont forget one c:

As you and April were walking home the topic of the turtles came up

and obviously you had asked why they were avoiding you, if anyone knew the answer it had to be her! right?

April had looked at you sadly “I don’t know, I even asked about it and all they did was give me vague answers like ‘I dont trust her’ ‘shes no good’ etc” she looked down and so did you

“well at least I kinda know why now” You laugh sadly

she smiles at you “but we’ll stay friends, dont worry”

you smile back

You both wave goodbye and walk the opposite way from each other, heading home. You checked your watch, 12:30 it said

Boy were you glad it was a weekend

Walking home would take you about an hour

but you weren’t alone

Or at least you felt like you weren’t, it was unsettling to say the least.

As you turned around a corner you found yourself face to face with two guys who had fire on their heads and a girl who, if looks could kill, was glaring at you like you had a death wish.

Now you had no clue who these people were but you stumbled back, knowing this could be dangerous, you got up but as soon as you did so, all you saw was black, Cassandra had knocked you out with one single hit, crazy huh?

You woke up the next morning, Chained up to a chair in what seemed to be an old warehouse, now this was truly crazy, why were you here? what did they want from you?

You looked around trying to find an escape, trying to find anything that will help you.

Thats when the dude who was skinny and had flames coming out from his head entered the room.

He started interrogating you

“Where are the turtles?”

“Wheres their base?!”

“what are their weaknesses”

etc

You honestly were just in shock by everything happening that you didn’t answer, this caused him to get mad and stomp out

You were stuck here for a bout 3 weeks, hoping April and your parent(s) put missing posters up and that someone will find you.

With the turtles

April had come into the lair a week after you went missing and filled the brothers in, she was panicking, she didn’t know what to do, there was no sign of you

no sign of life

the talk of the town was ‘What happened to y/n’

After seeing April breakdown the boys knew this was serious, sure they don’t trust you, or probably like you

but they had their reasons (we’ll get to it)

Doesn’t mean they wont try and save you though

Donnie didn’t put a tracker on you, which meant this was going to be harder than normal.

So what else coul-

AHA! the NYC cameras!

Donnie looked through the cameras for 3-4 days!

He found you, he finally found you.

They had taken you off into a dirt path that lead to god knows where.

Once the brothers got to said path they all started walking, eventually making their way to the warehouse.

Raph bursts in and immediately takes notice of how quiet the place is, until they hear what sounds like chains? upstairs?

They rush up, checking every room and once they find you

they look on in shock

You looked tired, exhausted

You had been eating properly though

and it doesnt seem like they hurt you

but it looks like you have been awake for days

The foot brute walks in holding a tray as the brothers start undoing the chains

this starts a fight

The foot men are attacking at raph and leo

while Cassandra is fighting Mikey and Donnie

in the midst of this you come up with a way to get everyone out of here

The roof!

you grab Raphs arm, but he flinches and pulls away

you try with Leo but yet you get the same thing

you try again with Raph and this time he shoves you away and you retaliate by raising your voice and grabbing him again

“Can you please trust me?!”

he looks at you in shock

“just this once?”

Raph sighs

Once the foot is distracted Raph lets you lead him to the roof, his brothers following

As you guys are walking you whisper to Raph

“so…why do you guys suddenly not trust me”

all of them pause at this, then donnie flat out says

“we did a background check on you…”

they did what?! Sure you have stolen here and there but you never killed anyone!

“so me stealing things is a reason for you not to trust me?”

“of course! no rational person would trust a klepto!”

“Have you ever thought that people steal because they need too? not because they want too?”

this made everyone go silent

you sighed and shook your head

finally you reach the roof

and this is where ur plan plays out

You tell them to head down the ladder and they actually listen to you. Once they’re down you head back inside

Ignoring the fact they’re screaming at you

You sneakily make your way down to the basement, tiptoing to make sure no one hears you

Once there you find all the valves, water pipes, etc

and start turnin that shit!

pulling levers

flipping switches

pressing buttons

everything.

You then run out right before the place can explode

getting a few burns on the back of your arms

and as soon as you’re a safe enough distance away you pass out

You wake up in your own bed, April sitting next to you

she looks over and sees you’re awake and hugs you

she explains everything that happened

but you already knew

You tried texting the turtles but they didnt answer you

Even now they’re still pushing you away?

I guess the past does haunt you

Or maybe

they feel guilty they never trusted you.

TMNT 2007 Headcanons: How They Would React to your Sibling!

Leonardo

Dad vibes 100000%

Not really the play type, that’s more Mikey and Donnie's thing

He tries to be a good role model, though, not all the time

He's extremely sweet to your sibling, but don't get it twisted, he's not a pushover

unlike Donnie and Mikey who cave in at the first sign of pressure, and Raph who lets your sibling do anything they desire, Leo's the more level-headed one

"That seems dangerous...oh! how about we do xyz instead? Is that okay?"

He's also a really good talker. he knows how to talk to your 12 year old sibling. Not like a child, or a full-grown adult, either. He talks to them with respect, dignity.

tries to get them to be a mini-leonardo for some odd reason- but in a cute way! He'll suggest small things like a short meditation lesson or something like that.

Leo also is an avid tea drinker, he might try and get your sibling to try it. WILL show off his big tea box and talk about it for HOURSSS if given the chance.

Raphael

Omg

The fun divorced auntie with no time for b.s that slides you money at the BBQ

no but seriously Raph is a cool guy, would probably get them into some devious shenanigans (if you allow it)

Likes to take them out on a bike ride, THATS his version of fun for a kid

Teaches them to whoop some ass always

Will join in if Mikey is playing video games with your sibling!

If your sibling is pretty quiet, he tries to get them to talk,

"So, uh, sup, kid?" Raph thinks he's not good with the youngters. But, trust me, kids would look up to Raph.

if your sibling had to pick a favorite, its a high chance it'll be raph.

Will try to get your sibling into sports or something masculine that's not something they're normally into. He'll find a way to make it interesting for them.

is an anchor for your sibling to let all their aggression out. If they need to vent or aren't feeling the best, raph seems to be the guy they go to. If anyone knows what it's like to not grasp their emotions, it's raphael.

So, it's a blessing to have Raph around for those moments! It makes going to the Lair very rewarding knowing that theres a turtle that has the same emotion troubles <3

donnie loves minecraft, this is a fact. It has calming music, great ambiance, and he would love to just create a world and play online with your sibling and build a few things! It's super cute, and i just know your sibling would love gaming time with donnie

What would 12 leo do if one of his brothers had killed someone

Oh my! This is a rather dark but interesting question! Hmmm let's see.........well the only way I could see Raph, Donnie or Mikey killing someone it'd either be for self defense or to protect one of their own.

For me personally.......I think that Leo at first would be shocked by it. After all it'd be unsettling to see his little brothers take the life of someone else, even if it was necessary for them to do. Once the shock and adrenaline of the situation had settled down and the actual gravity of the situation sunk in for them, Leo would definitely be a bit upset with them. After all he's always told them that killing people is wrong and isn't something that shouldn't be taken lightly. But the feeling would be majorly overshadowed by other feelings.

The feelings of guilt, of failure, of remorse, of sorrow and understanding. Because as soon as he sees his brother, whether it be Raph, Donnie or Mikey and seeing how they're processing what they'd done he'd instantly want to be there for them and want to support them. After all killing someone isn't something that people can just walk away from, it's not something that can just be forgotten about. It's the kind of thing that haunts you, that weighs you down in a way that you can't just fix. Even if his brothers would act like it didn't bother them, that they were fine with taking another life, Leo would know that they're actually struggling with the weight of their choice internally.

After all Leo's been in the same shoes as them at one point in his life.

Leo knows first hand how absolutely awful it is, the consequences of committing such an act even when the person who was killed in question deserved it. Because no matter how awful or irredeemable that person was, no matter how vile or evil, it's still a living being. And even when it's necessary for them to off that threat it's something that's gonna stick with you, even when you don't want it too. It's one of the reasons why Leo's always the one taking on those kinds of choices, why he's always telling his younger brothers that killing wasn't the answer. Because in a somewhat naive, selfless way, Leo wanted to protect them from the consequences and emotional and mental backlash they'd receive from doing it. In a way, the moment that this happens, it's basically Leo's worst fears and nightmares coming to life.

The lives they live don't allow anyone to be spared, they don't allow anyone to be completely free from doing something like this.

So when Leo sees this, he'd do his best to be there for the brother who needs it. He'd be a silent, understanding presence for them to lean on and trust upon to help guide them through it. Whether it's to offer a reassuring embrace or a comforting presence, or a listening ear to lend, Leo would do whatever it took to help his little brothers.

Because he'd already failed to protect them from having to something that should have never been an option for them to do in the first place, and he'd be damned if he failed them in this area as well. Because he's Leonardo Hamato, the eldest son and their big brother and clan leader and they'll always be the most important things to him.

At least that's how I see him reacting to this scenario.

Man, if the Leo’s got together and talked about Usagi.

Then Rise Leo’s Usagi shows up to the lair to hang out with Leo.

Everyone realizes Rise Raph really is a Raph. His smile has a menacing aura as he hears Leo scream, “Usagi!?”

“I’ll be right back.”, he gets up calmly.

His footsteps are heavy and Usagi is already sweating. He places a hand on Leo’s shoulder.

“Usagi! Good to see you.”, he holds out his hand.

Usagi holds his hands up, palms out. Leo takes this as an invitation to hug him. Usagi panics as Raph scowls at him.

“Leo, I’m not really feeling like hugging right now, so maybe let go?”, he lets go.

Mikey calls Leo over to get his colored pencils. Leo leaves. Usagi nervously grabs Raph’s hand and almost falls to his knees because it hurts.

Usagi twitched and stood straight as his hand is still trapped.

“It’s nice to see you too.”

Raph let’s go to sit back down. Donnie comes up to him next.

“I’m going to be direct with you.”, he manifests a gun.

“If anything happens to him, we will kill you.”, he cocked the gun.

Usagi nodded at the bloodlust a radiating off the calm soft shell.

Usagi walks over to Leo.

Next is a series of Raph cutting between the two.

Leo trying to hold Usagi’s hand? Raph is there.

Leo wants a hug? Raph is there.

Leo tries to kiss Usagi? Raph’s arm is reaching between them to grab his phone.

Leo pouts.

Next Mikey sits between the two during a movie to snuggle with Leo. If he accidentally kicks Usagi off the couch, what can anyone do? Especially if Donnie sits in his spot.

Splinter bemoans that Usagi will take little blue a way! That’s his baby! He’ll never come back! He’s too young to leave! He’s not ready! So he glared at Usagi too.

April shows up to randomly do wood whittling of faces. She’s working on a Mayhem head for the Aprils. She sits near by Usagi and stares directly at him as she takes her knife out.

The only one that doesn’t seem bother by Leo’s crush is Piebald and Leo. All she said is that he shouldn’t mess this up (to Usagi) and pat his shoulder before she left.

12 crew thinks rise Leo is acting like 12 Donnie so 12 Donnie tries to talk to rise Leo.

“But he kissed me, that has to mean he likes me, right?”, Leo said innocently confused.

12 Donnie felt his throat tighten. The others are in varying degrees of concerned.

“It was on the lips!”, he whispered and smiled.

Someone felt a twitch happening.

Leo is 16, he’s too young to date- thought someone.

Leo giggled and left. Someone is trying to calm down and makes sure not to let rise Raph know.

When they think no one is watching them- Donnie records everything so of course he has a camera watching.

They all see Usagi kiss Leo on the cheek. Leo is dazed.

They know the context of the kiss, but they still aren’t happy. 12 Donnie thinks out loud about adding a chainsaw to his staff for no reason.

12 Leo encouraged this thought. So did 07 and 03 Donnie.

Rise Leo is a baby (he’s 16!!! Dude it’s fine. Said a Casey, foolishly, before getting run back to his dimension) and a kind kid. He’s sweet and smart and friendly.

Rise Raph laminated about Leo trusting Usagi so readily when he always calls them out for trusting other people so readily.

“I mean he was right the majority of the time, but still! Hypocrisy! Dangerous hypocrisy if you ask me!”

Rise Leo went a round saying he loved everyone.

“And I love you too!”, Leo said Hugging Usagi.

“Your practically my best friend!”, he leaned up to kiss his cheek.

They were once again ripped a part, but not by rise Raph.

Will I show you what Usagi feels about Leo? Nah, I gave you a hint in a different post and that’s it.

Think Raph is mostly upset because Usagi is that same age as him? Raph is a year older than the twins.

Gosh if he was two years older than Leo- Raph really would kill him. Someone older than Raph? Not if he can help it.

Okay so I just watched catching fire and mockingjay part one. And I have new ideas and context.

(I will have more once the books are in my hands)

First I’m going to rearrange some characters

Cassandra and Casey are going to be from district 7 now. I was already tying Cassandra to Johanna, but I think the overall district feel just suits them better. Them being from the lumber district and having skills with axs and spears.

This means I will have to rewrite Casey’s games but I wasn’t satisfied with his game any way.

But now you must be wondering who is beetee as he is necessary for both catching fire and mockingjay. This was a big reason that I switched the characters around. I wanted an older character. I was thinking either Baxter Stockman from 2003 or Leatherhead from 2003. He seems older in that show and he is raised by the Ute on to be highly intelligent. Im leaning towards leather head as I like him more. But they will be from district 3

Usagi, Tomoe ame and Katauichi are all still from district 10. I’ve been thinking about giving them another victor.

Raph and the others are all from district 12.

But the biggest change besides where casey and Cassandra come from is a leosagi moment.

Their first kiss isn’t in district 13 anymore.

The night before the quarter quell.

Raph still hasn’t decided on any Alliances. Leo knows he needs them and Usagi has already promised to watch Raph’s back. But Leo knows Raph doesn’t trust Usagi, and he needs to come up with a way to make sure Raph won’t kill Usagi on sight.

Big mama had given Leo, mona, and Raph matching trinkets. Maybe instead of being all gold as in the original story she got them matching bracelets in their colors (Leo blue, Raph red, Mona pink and Big Mama lavender)

Leo sneaks down to Usagi’s floor to see him the night before they go into the arena. While they were all hoping for a smooth alliance the district 10 teen was surprised to see Leo so late. They had hoped he was announcing that his brother had finally decided to have them as allies (it would make the plan so much smoother)

Leo asks to talk to Usagi alone. The two slip into Usagi’s room for some semblance of privacy but they both know that they are probably being watched in some way.

The both try to start taking at the same time. There is so much to say. Usagi let’s Leo go first though.

Leo gives Usagi his bracelet telling him to show it to Raph as soon as he can. Raph might not trust Usagi but he trust Leo’s judgment and this is Leo declaring Usagi part of the team. That Leo trust Usagi completely

After Leo is done attacking the bracelet at holding Usagi’s hand, Usagi frames his face with his hand and pulls him into a quick kiss which surprises Leo but he tearfully returns.

Usagi pulls away just enough that their lips aren’t touching, but their foreheads are pressed together. They are so close that it’s not possible to see their lips moving between them. Usagi whispers as lowly as he can keeping his hands framing Leo’s face trying to shield them both as best he can. He doesn’t want what he’s about to say to be found on any camera or recording device.

He holds Leo’s close and in between soft kisses he begs him to do what ever Katsuichi asks of him. Usagi promises to get Raph out alive but Leo has to listen to Katsuichi.

Leo agrees and Usagi kisses him hard one last time before they part ways.

Leo’s not sure if Usagi meant any of that affection romantically or if it was just the best way to disguise their conversation.

To Usagi it might have been the last and only time he ever got to kiss the man he loved while also pleading his safety.

They won’t see each other again until after the rescue.

Last change Donnie is still gale, but some one asked about the rescue mission. Donnie is 100% on that mission. He almost didn’t get clearance but he is able to bully his way into it.

These are all my updates so far. But I know have way more context. Let me know what you guys think.

•He has the loudest laugh yet sweetest out of all 4

•As he's the baby of the family, he's the target of all his brothers. And he gets attacked by his brothers for different reasons, like him needing a cheering up or whenever he's annoying any of his brothers, they just love to use any excuse to wreck him!

•Since he's a prankster he tends to prank all of his brothers, but of course, when they get done with Mikey's pranks they gang up on him. Poor mikey has to deal with all his brothers attacking different spots; Raph holding him and poking his neck, Leo spidering all over his torso and Donnie the legs using both his tech and his hands and all of them teasing their baby brother occasionally.

•Remember Leo's "Im gonna hug till a smile comes out"? He definitely has used that on Mikey more than once; hugging him to let his fingers skitter across his ribs. Leo also teases him by saying stuff like "Aww, is my Hermanito still ticklish? Yes he is!" While Mikey is busy laughing his head off and trying to break away from Leo's hold.

•Donnie asks first before getting to the action. Except when he's feeling mean or wants revenge.

•And trust me, Donnie has definitely wrecked Mikey more than once; usually he does it to take him down a peg and/or when he's annoying. Like Donnie is busy working on something while Mikey is feeling playfull so he starts to pester him to get his attention, Donnie then deciding he has had enough puts away what he's working on and wrecks him

•Donnie may be gentler with him than he is with Leo and Raph but that doesn't save his baby bro from his teases

•Raspberries are Mikey's weakness and, unfornatly for the box shelled turtle, Raph knows and overuses it.

•Mikey maybe doesn't crumble as much as Donnie or Leo with the T word but he's still weak against it (He canonically said in ep 12 "Don't you dare say the T word!", granted, different context, but still its fun to imagine tickle escenarios with it)

•He retracts into his shell as a way to escape the tickles...which doesn't always works since his shell and plastron are also ticklish due to the nerve endings in there. (In fact its a good way to get him out of there when he's grumpy and stubbornly refuses to come out)

Ler

•He's the sweetest ler out of all his brothers (except when he's Dr. Delicate Touch, in that case, run)

•He picks up a thing or two from all the times his brothers decide to mess with him and uses them when he's wrecking someone like the "what's wrong?" questions from Don, the teases from Leo and baby voice teases from Raph

•He likes using his weapon to restrain his lees, he has used it on Leo and Raph at least once

•He wiggles his fingers before attacking just like in Many unhappy returns Part 2

•With Donnie he tends to ask first and is gentler as he knows that he's far more sensitive and can get easily overstimulated

•He generally tickles his brothers to cheer them up but also because he likes vengeance. Like, he 100% got revenge for what happened to Miss Porky Coin in Purple Game

•He and Leo tend to team up to attack Raph and Donnie.

AWW WAIT THESE ARE SO CUTE

Things in Symphony that I'm still wondering about, even after Chapter 22

1. This line: Now that you’re keeping your window locked pathologically, the old game of sneaking in via the fire escape is off the table.

2. The guy who beat up the asshole in the coffee shop. Is he actually just a random person? Or will he come back and turn out to be important later?

3. "lbjean_87’s Insta profile" is a reference, I'm sure, but idk what exactly other than the "87" for the 87 cartoon

4. “Oh, that’s such a relief,” he says, closing his eyes and sighing into your palm. “I’ve been making spreadsheets of things I’ve wanted to try for several days and wondering how best to bring it up, especially considering—well. It’s quite helpful that you did so yourself. Excellent work, consultant.” What would Donnie have said after "especially considering" if he hadn't cut himself off? Is that a nod to him thinking she likes Leo?

5. “I won’t change my mind,” he [Donnie] assures, making you shake your head. He sighs. “Yes. I promise.” In his mind, why is he so sure he won't change his mind about conducting the touch experiment? Because it's such a relief to touch someone again? Because he loves her? Because he's just that curious about the results/committed to seeing it through so he can touch his family again? Does he even know why he's so sure?

6. Sinclair at one point refers to a Ren. Renet, maybe?? 👀 Will we ever meet her?

7. Vi's visceral reaction to Leo scaring her in the kitchen vs. All the times she's been in genuine danger. With strangers she isn't afraid to stand her ground, even with guys much bigger and stronger than her who are actively trying to hurt her, she still doesn't react like she does with Leo. Is that because Leo is Just That Scary or does she have a history of people, specifically people she trusts, people who are close to her, being violent?

8. [Raph talking] "you can’t be stupid like that,” he says, making you flinch. I've noticed, even before chapter 20 when it gets really really bad, she often refers to herself as stupid or uses stupid as an adjective when describing what she's doing. Her flinching when Raph uses that word specifically has me wondering if "stupid" was used against her a lot in the past (by Alopex maybe?) or if she's always had A Thing about thinking she's stupid.

9. Donnie's various reactions to Vi being in danger/insulted. He reacts VERY strongly to her being bruised by coffee shop guy and when they run into her old standmate and he insults her. But after the thing with the guy in the park and the time she was almost SHOT his reaction is really... mellow. It confuses me.

10. Engage alarm 16-44-SD - I wonder what the significance of the numbers and letters are?

11. Why does Vi call Sinclair by her last name instead of her first name (June)? Grace calls her June... Is it because Vi is so bad at names and by the time she finds out Sinclair's first name is June she's already spent too much time referring to Sinclair by her last name to really change it?

12. What WAS Leo doing while Vi was showering before the 4th of July party? Was he really just eating cookies?

13. “He’s got me on security protocol 27-L-Alpha, but family’s allowed through on that one, so you can go ahead in,” Shelldon says - Again I wonder about the significance of these numbers and letters.

14. Donnie uses italics in the group chat. You can't do that in regular text chains, right? Is this like a discord-type situation? Or is it because they're all using phones (most likely) made by Donnie and he somehow added that feature? (This is so not important, I know, I know, but I'm curious okay?)

15. Chapter 20, during sex - He’s saying something; his mouth is moving but you’re too fuzzy to think, too lost to hear. I wonder what he said?

16. Also Chapter 20, after she Realizes - If Donnie says anything, you don’t hear it. I wonder if he said anything here. Was he still talking to her, trying to figure out what was wrong? Or watching her in confused, shocked silence? I don't know which is worse.

Hey! Yes pls, your fusion au is a delight and sending an ask is my pleasure!

I have a couple questions, how do you think things would change if it was only mm x rise? Considering mm are so Baby and stuff; they also seem to have a range of genre awareness, do you think any of the fusions would change due the extra lil input if just, you know, having considered fusions as a concept before? (I would think they do have a media presence nowadays)

And with other possibilities (12 seems to be the main one -In general, forced fusions are... interesting, charged with all kinds of fun stuff like identity issues, shifts And clashes in how you view reality, emotional (and all types rly) crisis, lack of trust in yourself, yk, the fun stuff. But, well, a rly beautiful part of (intentional/positive) fusion is being known completely, that full understanding and acceptance, recognizing the components but also the whole, a self that is more than the sum of the parts and becoming other without losing oneself, yk the other fun stuff –and some works even work to make that transition from the former to the latter, which I think would be really fun for a xover!

Would you have any intention of the fusions becoming aware and working through their issues first or would they stay as is? Is the allies' goal to separate them as quickly as possible, where we could then explore the aftermath? Or even leave them in an unstable space where it's on and off, or maybe just leaving the possibility of fusion (I might have missed that post, but is it even plausible to separate them?)

Speaking of both the rest of the gang and things I might have missed, but are they in the rottmnt verse or the 12 one? It seems both sets of allies and fam are there? Did they cross over looking for the missing turtles? How did they react to the fusions? (And any other tidbits you might have about the new relationships? :3)

not too many questions, but i have a feeling it's gonna take me a bit to read all of this, hoo boy

OH MY GODS, I'VE BEEN WAITING ALL WEEK FOR SOMEONE TO ASK ABOUT THE MM FUSIONS. IT'D BE SUCH A DIFFERENT STORY I AM!!!! NOT NORMAL!!! Gonna put them under a cut at the end, because it'd definitely be different and lengthy

Yeah, steven universe is the only example of fusions in canon media that I know of, and usually fusions are shown to highlight the positive attributes of a character, and in a lot of cases seems to be the two characters controlling one body. I definitely have a third consciousness, that is the fusions, but they're a combination of the two people who fused into them ofc. But at the same time, being unaware that they're fusions, and seeing all of these inconsistencies in their memory and in themselves, it's certainly challenging.

Well, Donnie's already aware. Being the smart one, I feel like he would have noticed somethings wrong the quickest and would have fallen into a bit of a mad scientist spiral about it, at which point the supporting cast decided the best way to help them out was just to flat-out tell them that they're not supposed to exist. Which somehow helped for a bit? Wow. Yeah, they're going to be separated. I think at least Mikey and Donnie will know at that point, and Raph "knows" but is very much not taking to the knowledge. He thinks that it's some long-running joke and he forces himself to not think about it as much as possible. When they're separated, I do in fact like the idea that the fusions could come back, but only in the case of a very strong enemy showing up. They've got the ninjutsu skills of the 2012 turtles, and the ninpo from rise, awkward as it is to fuse they can't not use that to their advantage. (The Mikeys have a bit of guilt, because they feel like the fusions are a third set that they're keeping locked up, in a way)

They are in the rise dimension. Currently, the only way proposed for them to have fused in the first place was a spell put on them in the hidden city, possibly by one of big mama's henchmen The 2012 April and Casey are definitely there. I'm not sure if 2012 Splinter would be there (probably not, knowing him) but we haven't even established if this is post-series and he's dead or not. How did they react? Ohohoho, so the april's and caseys were the ones who found them in the first place, after rise donnie had sent out an emergency alert. They were... quite alarmed, to say the least. A third set of alternates? Where are the other two? Where are all their gear? Why is so much of their turtles' gear torn and on the ground... oh no

Alright, now for the mayhem fusions under the cut:

Leo: Sooooo much anxiety, omg. Where does he put it all? He needs to distract himself a lot, because if he's left to his thoughts for too long he notices a lot of weird things about them. His favorite distractions are Jupiter Jim, and hanging out with Donnie.

Raph: Avoids his brothers, a lot. He's definitely the biggest of the four fusions, and considering MM Raph flipped a van, they're pretty strong as well. He's also got MM Raph's sort of "I don't need you, i want to be my own guy" thing paired with rise Raph's hate of being alone, so I'd imagine that'd result in a lot of time spent in the hidden city, where he fits in more, or maybe hanging out with the MM Bebop and Rocksteady(?). We can always have there be a stable portal between the dimensions and say that they can't return quite yet. That also allows MM April to go to school which is probably important or smth

Donnie: Autistic. Just in case you think I would somehow remove that lol. He's got problems with loud noise, but also prefers to have music blasting when he works on a project, so he carries around MM Donnie's headphones pretty much everywhere, for when either situation arises. He's tried different enhancements on the bo staff, but ended up going traditional with it. Projects for them are probably on a smaller scale than Rise Donnie's, but if he managed to convince himself that he can make something on Rise Donnie's level. His shell is also the most fucked up of the four, we're throwing together the rise softshelled one that got ripped out of the technordrome and the mutant mayhem one that got crushed. No matter if the fusion is softshelled or not (not sure yet) they definitely a need battleshell. Also This one does not know they're fused I kept writing they/them on accident since that's what I usually do for this au

Mikey: Silly little guy. There's so much creativity stored in this turtle, he likes art and dancing mainly. Has a 'Dr Delicate Touch' and it's somehow more alarming of a switch. He's also great at masking, externally he's fine then internally he's just "wtf is going on in here???? Is this what old people mean when they say they don't remember their childhood very well???" He also follows the sleep schedule that MM Mikey does for school.

I'll do awareness judgements for them a little later, just gonna put this out there for now

The Depeche Mode Diaries: PSA

Hello, all!

As you know, I have a WIP entitled The Depeche Mode Diaries, which is kind of a spin on @txemrn’s Royal Roulette, except I selected Angsty Teen Robin’s favorite DM songs, and will write stories for them.

The stories will be dark in nature and focus on topics such as depression, obsession/stalkerism (I don’t think that’s a word), and addiction.

The first “diary entry” is tentatively titled “Best Friend”, and tells the story of King Liam’s and Queen Riley’s drug addictions (She smokes crack, he shoots it) and its impact on them, their marriage, friends and family, and ultimately Cordonia itself.

It will be dark, graphic, and gritty. I will be as tactful as possible, but I will also not be holding back any punches. There is no 12 step program to save them.

Reader discretion is strongly advised.

The story will be tagged and warned appropriately, but wanted to give you, as readers, the chance to opt out (or in) before the story posts, hopefully before the end of the week.

A snippet is below the cut for your reading pleasure. Trust me, it really is going to get worse.

Present Day, Valtoria

The roar of Valtoria Falls masked the Queen’s quiet entrance onto the balcony. She paused once she crossed the threshold, her slightly-crossed, crystalline blue eyes taking in the two journalists with their backs to her. The light, cool breeze caused her dark blonde locks to flutter about her face. Impatiently, her fingers brushed the hair away.

The female correspondent was shorter, her pale-blonde hair nearly white. She was sharply dressed in an ankle-length black pencil skirt and white silk blouse. T-strapped stilettos adorned her feet. The man was tall, African-American with a short afro haircut. He was more casually dressed in a black tee shirt, black jeans, and white tennis shoes.

Adjusting the framed photograph tucked beneath her arm, the Queen cleared her throat; her guests turned to greet her.

“Your Majesty,” Ana DeLuca murmured as she dipped into an effortless curtsy.

Her partner, Donnie Brine bowed.

Eleanor, Queen of Valtoria within the Realm of the Five Kingdoms nodded slightly in acknowledgement before gesturing towards the outdoor sitting area. “Please, help yourself to some refreshments,” she offered.

Ana and Donnie studied the monarch covertly as they picked over sandwiches, cheeses, and fruits. Eleanor had her father’s height; her looks were a combination of both parents. Blonde hair, startling blue eyes, thin nose, full lips. Her outfit, a coral-colored jumpsuit, emphasized the slight swell of budding breasts and the spreading of already-thick hips.

She was 16 years old but looked older; whether it was due to her turbulent childhood or being thrust onto a throne three years previously was not yet determined. Donnie offered to prepare the young monarch a plate, but she shook her head. Instead, she plucked a bottle of sparkling water from an ice bucket and sat elegantly on an oversized rattan sofa, the photograph now lying across her lap.

Ana took a seat beside Eleanor. “Is that a photograph of your parents?”

The Queen nodded slowly. “It’s how I think they would want to be remembered.” She inhaled a shaky breath. “At least it’s the way I want to remember them.”

Donnie sat on the other side of the Queen, his eyes taking in the young couple captured forever in time, living in a country that no longer existed. They were in the garden maze, the wooden swing behind them, facing each other; his head was bent so their noses touched. Her blonde hair was pulled back in a tight bun, his dark blonde waves touched the collar of his long-sleeved shirt. His arms were encircled around her waist; her palms were pressed against his chest. She was sticking her tongue out at him.

They were young. In love. They were the King and Queen of Cordonia.

The smile on Queen Eleanor’s face was small, sad. “Everyone thinks their story is tragic, but aren’t all love stories tragedies?”

Silence save for the rushing water behind the trio.

Eleanor looked up at Donnie Brine, a plaintive expression on her face. “What do you remember about them?”

Donnie and Ana met eyes over the monarch’s head.

“PLEASE! All I hear is they were horrible people who destroyed Cordonia. Tell me … tell me there was good in them,” the young Queen begged.

New York City, 18 years ago

Liam

The tall, blonde Prince of Cordonia walked out of the building, squinting instantly against the harsh, midday sunlight. On either side of him were his best friends, Drake Walker and Maxwell Beaumont. Drake pulled Liam’s suitcase behind him, the wheels on the luggage bumping noisily along the pavement. Maxwell was excitedly half-hugging the young Prince.

“LIAM!!! It’s so good to see you! And it will be even better to have you back home where you belong,” Lord Maxwell Beaumont exclaimed.

A half-smile ghosted Liam’s lips as he threw an arm around his comrade’s shoulder. “Good to be back, my friend.”

His blue eyes slid to Drake; the smile dropped from his mouth. “Why are you here? Aren’t you attending University in Texas somewhere?”

“I was,” Drake grunted as he lifted the suitcase to place in the trunk of the sleek, black limousine.

“You didn’t have to come collect me. I’m a big boy.”

Drake’s chocolate-brown eyes raked over Liam’s form; it was still taut and toned. The Prince had gained a little weight, but in all the right places. A far cry from the last time Drake had laid eyes on him.

He noticed the blonde absently scratch the sleeve of his long-sleeved blue plaid shirt.

“You needed me,” Drake said quietly as he closed the trunk.

Liam’s blue eyes studied the sidewalk, shame tinging his cheeks pink. “No lies detected.” His eyes lifted to look into Drake’s eyes. “When do you go back?”

Drake walked around to the door, pulling it open. “I don’t. I’m going back to Cordonia and enrolling in Cordonia U in the fall.”

Liam nodded slowly before climbing into the car behind the Commoner. He looked around the car’s interior in confusion. “Where’s Tariq?”

Maxwell shook his head slightly, his attention caught by Liam’s key ring. “He had an errand to run?” He shrugged, then pointed to the colorful round tokens on the key chain. “Are those … CHIPS? Like recovery chips?”

Liam tamped down the frisson of anticipation at Maxwell’s words and laughed. “Yeah, they are.”

The car pulled into traffic, its destination The Plaza Hotel as Liam answered Maxwell’s numerous questions.

He was 90 days clean. And all he wanted was a hit.

My Version of the Hamato Family

Hi everyone! Thank you for reading and liking part one. It made my day!

So, this is where I shine in writing. I love creating characters and their backstory; it’s so fun. I think it is more important to focus on characters than the plot since a character can create the storyline- well at least for me.

I’m excited to share! Hope you enjoy!

Leonardo:

We’re starting with the usual leader-in-blue!

Although I adore Leo, his “perfect” personality can get a little boring. His versions usually have flaws, though they are the kind that makes you sympathize with him rather than feeling indifferent like with Raph’s anger issues.

Season 1 Leo would be a toned-down Rise Leo. He can be cocky when he succeeds over his brothers and would jokingly comment how he is Splinter’s favorite. However, it doesn’t come without hard work. Leo trains the most out of his brothers and spends most of his time studying fighting techniques. He is not naturally talented in ninjitsu like the past incarnations. Also, Leo’s motivations for training very hard and wanting to be leader is more for himself than anything.

Compared to his brothers, Leo was relatively average. Donnie was extremely smart, Mikey had his kind and joyful soul, and Raph was naturally a great fighter. Leo felt left out and decided that training to be a hero would be his way of standing out. He also believed that being special like his brothers was the only way to get Splinter’s attention; and it kind of worked. With all the progress Leo made, Splinter praised him, and they had a way to connect.

Around the beginning of S1(maybe ep. 5), Leo became the leader though how was different. Instead of Splinter deciding, the brothers did; the explanation was the turtles were a team and should make a consensus as one. This news made Leo ecstatic; he was finally living his dreams. Even so, he didn’t realize the baggage and responsibility a leader had to shoulder. Over the course of the story Leo grows as a great leader and fighter.

The Karai/Leo subplot will follow the 2003 version. He is convinced that Karai is a good person and tries to have her switch sides. There will be romantic feelings but its not the main motivation for both of their actions. I can’t say too much since this plot revolves around Karai more.

Donatello:

Donnie is a blend of 2003/12 versions. He is intelligent with an extremely high IQ and was a gifted child. However, his intelligence came with a cost; making connections with his brothers and father was really tough for him because of their different interests. This left him withdrawing from everyone and focusing on his inventions. His social skills evolve once the turtles visit the city and meet April. The increasing danger of the Kraang further builds his relationships since communication is important in teamwork, and Donnie’s talent in inventing grew more in the spotlight.

Because of her fascination with Donnie’s smarts and inventions, April and Donnie become good friends as the story continues. Donnie also gets close with April’s best friend, Irma since they are science lovers. At first, Casey irritates him as they have clearly different personality; Casey’s impulsive and extroverted attitude conflicting with Donnie’s plan-based mindset.

Donnie’s love for his family is showcased after witnessing a terrifying, apocalyptic future where his family suffers. Paranoia sets in. His work to calculate the cause of this terrible, and its solution leads Donnie to rarely take care of his needs. He has to learn to trust in others instead of doing things alone.

Raphael:

Unlike Leo, Raph is instantly gifted in fighting. He has more physical strength than his brothers and would constantly beat them in practice. Since childhood, Raph was Splinter’s “favorite” in the dojo and that definitely got into the red-banded turtle’s head. He would brag to his brothers and jokingly poke fun at their techniques. It wouldn’t affect anyone. Except for Leo.

Raphael’s ego started taking hits once Leo caught up to him and beating him in practice once in a while. It turned into anger after noticing Master Splinter praising Leo more. The tension soured their brotherhood. Unlike most versions, Raph’s anger is fueled by insecurity. He believes that fighting is the only thing he is good at and will get territorial if his spotlight is threatened.

Throughout the story, he learns to move on from his demons and realize his worth.

Family is important to Raph. He can be hard on his brothers yet will do anything to keep them safe, especially Mikey- his positivity must be protected. Casey and Raph become best friends for their similarities and love for fighting- they are impulsive bros.

Michelangelo:

Mikey’s role is to be the positive and glue of the team. He loves to make people happy and would always do something goofy or kind to do that. His family have nothing bad to say about their youngest member and are very protective of him. The youngest brother doesn’t take ninjitsu as seriously as skateboarding, dancing, or just general fun. Though, he will be serious when the situation calls for it, such as the fate of his family and the world.

Although being an open ear to anyone, Mikey is not open to expressing his negative emotions due to his fear of damaging the family dynamic. It is noticeable when he is upset because he jokes more often and not focus. A lesson he must learn is to accept the good and the bad. Mikey can be reckless, mostly when his brothers rarely let him participate in missions. He wants to prove to his family that he is strong enough to protect himself and others. Reading people is his best skill and takes great pride in it, usually taking on the role of a therapist.

Splinter/Hamato Yoshi:

I really wanted to take Splinter’s role in the Shredder’s descent to evil in the grayer area. He is usually the victim/innocent party of the story, which can get boring after a while.

Hamato Yoshi was born as the heir to Hamato Clan and childhood best friend of Oroku Saki. The Hamato and Foot clan were allies for centuries and would usually fight by each other’s side. Matters changed when the Foot’s beliefs grew more sinister. This left the Hamato Clan to eradicate their former ally. Splinter saved Saki before he could be killed, though, it came with consequences. Oroku Saki vowed to exact revenge for his fallen home. Growing up, Splinter became one of the strongest martial artists in Japan and married a woman named Tang Shen, later becoming a father to a girl. His world ended once he saw his clan destroyed and his family killed by the renewed Foot Clan.

Yoshi decided to move to New York and forget his old life. Years later, the martial artist noticed strange people caging defenseless animals. He would fight them long enough to protect four humanoid turtles, deciding to keep them after a moment of compassion. Splinter would continuously fight the strange men until a strange liquid turned him into a rat. This turning point banished Splinter and the turtles to the sewers for protection.

Splinter equally loves his sons. He would always make sure to give them equal amounts of love to avoid lasting issues. Though, he has made some mistakes. Emotions were rarely discussed because of Splinter’s unintentionally withdrawn attitude. The rat master wouldn’t instantly notice problems between his sons, and usually didn’t know how to resolve them. No matter what, Splinter is proud of his children and would do anything to keep them safe; sometimes not realizing that it could hurt them.

Hamato Yoshi’s guilt and trauma over the terrible moments in his life would be the main focus of his development.

It hurt. Everything hurt and he didn't know where he was and he felt sick. He bellowed out into the cold, dark room. He cried again, this time louder as he tried to stand on instead legs. His head spun. Powerful bounds around his wrists and ankles held him down, and moving sent electricity down the length of his body that made him roar. Something on his face covered his eyes— not his mask, something far darker. He couldn’t see, he couldn’t move— he couldn’t hear anything other than his own echo. He was alone.

“... come to find out it wasn’t really a car show. It was a destruction derby and I… he just wanted to use my car to win it so he could get another trophy.”

“I cannot understand how upsetting that must have been for you.” Splinter’s head was low as he watched the steam rise off of his tea, “I am certain you treasure your creations just as much as my Donatello. I am sure your father meant no harm, but even the best of intentions can come off as… less than that. When my son was having diffuclties as leader, he said and did many things that upset his brothers.”

“Really? My Raph’s never done anything like that.”

“Your Raphael?” Splinter looked to Donatello curiously as he sipped his tea.

“Yeah. I mean, he has his moments but he’s usually pretty chill toward us— the stress of being the leader leader gets to him sometimes but—“

Splinter choked on his tea. He dropped the cup in favor of covering his mouth during the intense coughing fit that followed. The cup shattered on the ground and spilled tea all across the cold stone of the lairs floor.

Donatello sipped his tea calmly. “You okay, buddy?”

Splinter waved that he was fine as he slowly recovered from the fit. Donatello helped himself to another buiscit.

“Ah— my apologizes, Donatello. Your words just started me is all.”

“Ok.” Donatello didn't ask why. “These are really good buiscit.”

“Thank you, but a… clarification question if I may?”

“Ok.”

“You did just state that your Raphael was your leader, correct?”

“Yeah? He’s the oldest, so leader by proxy. Why?”

“I apologize— when I stated my son was having some difficulties, I should’ve clarified it was Leonardo. The leader of my sons…”

“Gasp. Now it is my turn to choke.” Donatello put his cup to his lips and purposely inhaled some of it. He immediately fell to coughing just Splinter. “ACK! GAG! CHOKING NOISES!”

“You really are a curious fellow.” Splinter hid his mouth with another cough as he laughed. The mutant’s ears pricked to attention at the sound of a disturbance from the opposite side of the lair. “I believe we are not alone.”

Donatello wiped his mouth and looked behind him trying to see whatever Splinter had seen.

“Stay here.” Splinter gave Donatello a pat on the shoulder as he ran past.

Donatello gasped, and then squealed. “OH AM GOSH! A positive touch from a parent aged adult! Dreams really do come true!”

Donatello drank the rest of his tea happily, starting to wiggle in his seat to try and get his nervous energy out. All of the anxiety flooded right back into him when he heard Splinter’s loud scream.

“Splinter!” Donatello was on his feet and running before his mind could catch up, initially on the rats trail but quickly turning paces when he spotted a broom in a corner. He grabbed it, holding it like it was his own staff, and sprinted finally into the room Splinter had entered.

The rat had his own staff at the ready, backed into a corner with his eyes locked on the beast that filled a great deal of the room. The snapping turtle's jaws were frothing over with white foam in his panic, his tail lashing like a whip to further show the agitation of the red beast. Around his wrists and ankles were ropes that had once held him down, now snapped at the base and swinging as he struck out wildly and blindly toward the assumed attacker. Raphael couldn’t see them— his eyes were covered with a tight blindfold that made him lash his head back and forth trying to find any stimuli to tell him where he was.

Donatello recognized the fearful motions immediately— he’d lived with Raphael all his life and learned to recognize the motions his brother would go through for fear or anger or pain, and this wasn’t the second. But one so unused to recognizing the different cues that the snapping mutant had could easily misinterpret any one of them as an anger response.

Splinter brought his staff down at the bridge of Raphael’s shell trying to force him into a corner. Raphael roared in response and swiped a counter strike, just barely missing the staff's quick motions as it hit him in several more places though it was more like gentle, guiding taps.

“Wait— nonono!”

Raphael made a sharp movement when he heard Donatello’s voice and tried to search for it, colliding with Splinter and making the rat stumble slightly before he found a more secure footing.

“Raph, it’s me!” Donatello ran forward, trying to reach for the blindfold, but the moment he touched Raphael, the mutant shouted and slammed a massive fist into Donatello’s stomach.

Donatello stumbled back into the wall, gagging and clutching as he stomach as he tried to both catch the breath that had been knocked from him and try not to throw up. He did, of course, have plating over his plastron just as his brothers did— it was just covered with soft skin instead of hard keratin—but the bone only served to make the pain worse somehow as Raphael’s fist collided with enough force to knock a grown man off his feet.

Raphael immediately recognized who he had hit and started to panic even more.

“Don-nee?” His head thrashed back and forth trying to shake off the blindfold obscuring his vision.

Donatello tried to call out to him, but only a wheeze was produced.

“Donatello, stay where you are.” Splinter took a defensive pose in front of Donatello.

“Nah…” Donatello tried finally, pushing himself off the wall and trying to stumble to his brother's aid, but Splinter’s tail directed him back. “Don’t hurt—“

“I’m not.”

“But he doesn’t know that!”

Splinter jabbed the tip of his staff into Raphael’s chest, making the savage mutant grunt and try to grab at whoever kept poking him.

“I swear… ah…” Donatello felt his way across the wall trying to get behind Raphael without being hurt again or singled out— if he could separate his noise from the racket Splinter was making, then maybe— “I’m… so gonna beat those other turtles shells… if I have any spoons left by time they get back. RAFFEREL!”

Raphael grunted and turned quickly at the sound of the voice.

“Listen to me! Your name is Hamato Red, but when you were nine and me and Leo were eight and Mikey was seven we all chose names we thought were cooler from an old library book April gave us, and you became Hamato Sanzio Raphael.”

Raphael listened intently, his breathing still labored and body tensed, but all senses locked onto Donatello. Splinter stopped his assault to listen as well.

“And when we were little hatchlings and you’d go into your fits, dad always calmed you down with the Chūgoku lullaby. And Leo and Mikey and I were always jealous because you got your own lullaby, but every night Splinter would sing the Takeda lullaby to all of us before we went to sleep. Do you remember the Chūgoku lullaby?”

Raphael didn't respond.

“Come on. You know how it goes! Nenneko shasshari mase, neta ko no kawasi… okite naku ko no… nenkororo, tsura nikusa, nekororon, nenkororon…”

As Donatello went slowly through the lullaby, Raphael started to chur softly and sway. Halfway through he started to hum along, and once Donatello was sure Raphael was calm, he approached Raphael without stopping the song. Donatello reached gently to Raphael’s head, hesitating as the great beast flinched but quickly recovering enough to take off the blindfold.

As Raphael blinked in the sudden light, Donatello gently fell to unbinding the ropes from Raphael’s wrists, and the song wrapped up perfectly as he removed the final knot.

“There we are.”

“Don!”

Donatello screamed as he was yanked into a hug, then fell to growing as Raphael rubbed his cheek against Donatello’s battle shell.

“Oh come on Raph you know I’m afraid of togetherness—“

Raphael moved to rest his head on top of Donatello’s, holding the softshell tightly to his plastron. “You’re okay…”

“Of course I’m okay you idiot you threw yourself on top of me!”

Raphael kissed the top of Donatello’s head and continued to hum happily while the softshell struggled for his freedom.

“Oh, really? Really with the kiss? You were just trying to kill me two seconds ago!” Despite his words, Donatello’s heart flooded with warmth at the snapping turtles quick rebound from beast to brother.

“Donnie, I don’t feel good…” Raphael sniffled.

“What kind of don’t feel good?”

“Like I’m gonna be sick.” Raphael stuck his tongue out, “And my back hurts- it is bad—?”

Donatello grabbed Raphael’s face before he could turn around to look at the bandages, forcing the snapper to look back at him. “He probably just gave you oxycodone to help with the pain.”

“Oh okay.” Raphael nodded, not quite understanding but trusting his brother's judgement. “But uh. Who is ‘he’?”

“I may be able to help best.”

Raphael gave a confused grunt and turned around, pulling Donatello along with him as he saw Splinter for the first time.

“Hey, pops got taller! Good for him.”

“That’s not dad you idiot— well it is kinda— but not our dad!”

Raphael blinked. “Raph is confused!”

Splinter laughed, finally letting his staff back down into a relaxed position and resting on it. “I’m going to need so much more tea.”

99: If the whole world were listening to you right now, what would you say? Life is too short to hate. To be afraid. You have to go out and live your life and not care what anyone else thinks. You have to treat those around you with love and care. Don’t be scared of what you don’t have an understanding of. Learn and be patient. Learn about the things that make you afraid. Only then will you stop being afraid. We only have this one life. You can either spend it being afraid and miserable. Or you can spend it being loved and love those around you; making every day a day you want to wake up to.
