something about the history of spider-byte's name (and intial lack therefore of a last name) is calling to me. like even now that margo has a last name, ppl still don't recognize her civilian identity bc of how little screentime she had and the brevity of the comic appearance.
hmmmm ok i've marinated. idk much about tech so take the terms with a grain of salt and just focus on the emotional story. think i have some headcanons:
margo lives in a society where it's common to use virtual reality to escape/ experience life but margo is actually one of the more extreme cases of this escapism
she's friendly with others, something doesn't seem to be wrong, but her peersknow she's always connected to the vr/always online. they don't notice how little they know about her home life or about her, despite her being familiar with everyone else.
-
and this disconnect only becomes worst once she takes on the mask of spider-byte. helping people in the way she's always desired to be helped is fufilling, but it doesn't take long for margo to become lost in her online persona.
-
the longer she spends as spider-byte, the more the two worlds blur. and once she gains the ability to physically manifest her avatar, her spider abilities begin to transfer into her irl body
-
at first margo was excited about this change. she could finally be the hero she wanted to be inside and outside of her vr- headset, but she quickly discovers that her bodily automony is being manipulated.
-
sometimes her skin glitches, changing into a rainbow of colors without her say-so (she'd have to fake sick to avoid questions from her peers/parents) . sometimes when she splits her avatar her body doesn't immediately return and if it does it never feels the same. as if data is missing.
-
but most obvious is that her understanding of humanity--of herself changes. not in a cruel way, but she feels an alienation from human connection that she'd never experienced before. she saves the day, not because of her childhood desire to do good, to be saved and save others, but because it is her avatar. it is her purpose as spider-byte, not the dream of margo kess.
-
it's when margo catches herself refering to herself spider-byte, even when she was outside of vr relaxing that she begins to investagate further.
-
she begins to question her relationship with the cyber crime police department and how easily they accepted her" "vigilatism"/ eventually she tracks down conversations between the department and an unknown scientist/ leading cyber security company. i'm thinking of this being her "doc oc" connection, but im open to other villian parallels tbh
-
the thing is this "doc oc" knows that margo has been tracking them . they think its funny. they're facinated with their experiement and are very willing to play along with the investagation as long as they get to observe their subject.
-
the fact that margo got "bit" was part coincidence. the program/ bug was sent out to find a suitable host. someone isolated, someone online for long hours to properly conduct the experiement, someone who had the need to escape and become something more.
-
it could've been anyone. they were meant to be corrupted entirely by the program, only leaving behind a husk irl as they accepted their new reality. but margo was different her need to do good was so great that it redirected the prgrams goals entirely. allowing for her persona of a hero to infliratrate her real life and vice versua in a way "doc oc" had never seen before
-
doc oc at first wanted to let margo live as a hero . but her changing the bug--resisting its intended purpose intrigued them more. it wasn't enough to collect data on the experiement spider-byte anymore. now doc oc needed to break her. to rebuild her and understand what makes her so special
-
and this back and forth does mean margo loses a lot. some days she doesn't even remember her last name. but she's motivated now to reclaim her life, her heroism, and make sure no one else is taken advantaged ;like this again

Yuichi Usagi is [SURNAME] [given name]
lol I've written abt it before going into more specifics & making theories, but this post is just to clear it up again as a general ref for newer fans reading old or new posts abt it and finding themself confused... edit3(15.1): rightfully so! if you've ever watched more than 5 anime or just read some manga, you might recognize that Yuichi is most commonly a given name in Japan. Even viewers familiar with japanese would have made the same assumption. But the show itself uses it as a first name, so it becomes confusing. After jan 6th we found the behind-the-scenes lore for that too.
- clearest tell in the show itself that Usagi is his first name - his auntie calls him Usagi. What auntie calls their sole nephew or close family member by their family name? ... which would have to be her own family name then too...???
Secondly. He introduces himself as Usagi the more he's in the city. First as Yuichi Usagi, but then after a few chases, he gives up and introduces himself to Kitsune as "Usagi"in the 1st episode. boy wants to be known as Usagi haha.
edit 2 (8.1.2024): as of 6.01 we have official confirmation that this is fact + a little backstory! Yuichi is the boy's surname
the whole show, all the other characters use japanese naming convention - e.g. Gen introduces himself as Murakami Gennosuke to the Bat Squadron. it seems the other younger characters call each other by given name basis because they're either all around the same age or don't feel like using family names for each other. Often characters don't have family names because they're orphans (Chizu, Kitsune, Hana). Or it's the only name they go by in general (Tetsujin, Lady Fuwa).
it's that simple! you can headcanon whatever but at least know the show itself has named him this way.
I've already written about this b4 too but Yuichi can very rarely be a family name (apparently). there might be other reasons the show crew gave him Yuichi as a family name, but if that doesn't cut it, you can always adopt my theory that he has a rare two given names.
But yeah, the show makes it clear that Usagi is his first name. It's a spinoff based on Usagi Yojimbo and some of its stories and ideas, and made by fans of the comic and Stan's work. They decided to give him this name, for whatever reasons, and it's his name used in the show. There's too much much work in the show itself for them to give him a random name either, "just because they're ignorant" or even just bc they didn't research. They clearly did or the show wouldn't have some surprising elements to it as a spinoff or as a past+future combo of japanese aesthetics.
Him and the comics' original Usagi, Miyamoto Usagi can share a first name. I know it looks confusing coming from other shows where evryone has specific names. I know it's just generally confusing as a tmnt fan... but their names and tags can co-exist as-is. maybe i don't get out enough into other shows but I've never seen a fanbase stretch themselves so into a pretzel over characters sharing their first name. also Miyamoto Usagi is based on a famous historical samurai, more precisely - Miyamoto Musashi. His movie depiction was what inspired Stan Sakai in the 80s... ppl in real life share first and last names very often so it just doesn't bother me personally that they share one name, but not their family name. So I don't get anymore why ppl are upset that his name is a combo of two first names... I believe there's also a irl children's book author named Usagi Yuichi (maybe pseudonyms being animal names is more common in japan?idk) so I wonder if the crew knew about that 🤔
clearing this up again bc every time I see someone say smth about this show and it's some misunderstanding on top of a misconception, I just wanna make a simple chart to explain things lol. but i don't know if ppl would care even. I know ppl sorta dislike this show or don't care abt it anyways. but then... why talk about it? why share info like a fan who knows or cares about it... and then it's false info... so idk, if they're not a fan, don't take them at face value, but even if they're a fan, it's easy to share info without a source and have others think it's real. Be ready for info to change or your first impressions to break. I've mostly only theorised or drawn from the show itself so far, but even things I say might change if other evidence is provided. So... lol lets all just read into this show calmly I guess.
edit (7.1.2024): lol another thing to add that I didn't think about: there's a 1000 years between the generations of Miyamoto Usagi and Yuichi Usagi. so them not having the same surname would be considered quite normal (and so far, no evidence to conclusively say that M! Usagi is a grandpa... the scene between Usagi and his auntie in the evening in ep 1 also seems to allude that there are many generations between the og era and the future era and that Usagi's auntie is speaking of her own direct great grandfather and Miyamoto Usagi separately...
Anyway. That's all! Hope this is helpful to newer fans.

Wondering your thoughts on something I’ve noticed a lot in the Sandman fandom - namely, that every fanart or fanfic involving Daniel (based on the show!!) always portrays/describes him as white, despite the fact that show!Danny’s dad is a black man…
i think there's a few factors at work. first (and foremost) people trying to incorporate bits of the comix in the absence of "official" casting (almost every fanart and a lot of fanfics defaulted to Destruction as a white, red-haired man before the actor was announced). Danny in the comix is a blonde baby and then a sort of...ghostly amalgam of a young man who never existed and Morpheus as we knew him (disheveled hair, gaunt figure, sharp cheekbones, dark eyes). what would that look like in the show? i don't know! i'm hoping there's at least a nod to Daniel's human parentage (he's blonde in the comix BECAUSE he's Lyta Hall's son, and in the comix she's blonde), but i think there are a few ways that it could be cast. Danny!Dream as mixed, light-skinned, and/or racially ambiguous could be both really tragic and really compelling: the erasure of where he came from as metaphor for his personal losses (of family, of childhood, of "personhood" in a human sense), and the insistence on some reminder of his parents, his past, as a counter to his "function." i'd love to see that explored in fic! (as someone who also defaults to comix!Daniel - though there IS a reasoning behind this choice in the LA guard dog universe and non-Dreaming aus.)
at the same time, i think it's partially a function of fans getting attached to Tom Sturridge's portrayal of Dream. when s1 came out, i saw some discourse circulating about how already people weren't ready to "lose" him (and i think some of this filtered into the whole "retired" Dream headcanons, though that's another discussion). and i get that if someone else is cast as Danny, there's going to be a...reaction to both the actor figured as a "replacement" for Tom and the character as a "replacement" for the Dream that fans became attached to. which then becomes a possible burden on the actor. Rose's actor, Vanesu Samunyai, got significant backlash for being a Black woman to play a character who was white and blonde in the comix, and i could see that kind of racism seeping into people's reactions to Daniel. (also a fan grief/sadness at the tragic ending used as a "justification" for racism.) it's not clear to me how much support nonwhite actors like Vanesu get when they're cast in these roles where fans might "expect" a white actor. (like...Riordan told Leah Jeffries in the new PJO series not to listen to the haters because he chose her, which is great and all, but...is production working to ensure that she has someone she can safely process her experiences with, is she given reasonable accommodations, is someone else moderating her socials so she doesn't have to deal with trolls?) so that's another consideration.
(obviously the "solution" isn't to never cast nonwhite actors, but there's been an increase in "diverse representation" in media without a discussion of how these predominantly white spaces have material impact on nonwhite creatives.)
last thing is just that i've noticed the sandman fandom generally seems...more reluctant to engage in alt. casting than say, musical theater fandoms, where there's an expectation that the principal actor won't always be in a role or present when you witness the performance. there's this automatic turn toward finding someone who fits, for example, Delirium from the comix in the absence of an official show casting, rather than playing around with the uncertainty. (personally i'm out here championing Bailey Bass as my Delirium face cast, and tbh if they cast the rest of the Endless sibs as white, she and Stephanie Hsu will remain my primary Del references.) which i think is common in fandoms that rely on a visual "text" for reference, and even more so for Neilman tv fandoms, where fans seem to want/expect "word of god" affirmation. again, another discussion, but i'll just say for now i think the fandom suffers for it.

What do you think everlark would call each other post war? Like in terms of terms of endearment 😆
I’m a nickname-er so. Uh. I probably headcanon it more than most. The only other person who seems to share this trait with me is my lovely @jenniferiawrence 🩵
But yeah. I’ve answered this before but my lists can kind of get extensive. I don’t just casually chose the pet names, they tend to need some basis in canon to me. Most of the time.
Peeta calls Katniss sweetheart in book one to bug her. Because of Haymitch I sometimes get iffy on if Peeta would ever call her this post canon but I’ve decided yes, he would, because it’s the only canon pet name he ever used towards her so… apparently it rolls off his tongue? 😭 Because he barely knew her. And it’s not like Haymitch has a claim on it lololol.
Other than that, I resort to southern sounding nicknames since they’re southern-ish. Appalachian which idk if that’s technically southern but I’m not splitting hairs over it. Baby is literally the most common pet name in the world, it’s one of the only ones used (towards a child and a cat) in the book canon and it’s very southern, so I use that one a lot. Just know it’s meant to be said in a southern accent though. Darling I used to dislike so much but in a teasing or sarcastic context and in a southern accent it works for me. My love works really well sarcastically imo as well as in a rare tender moment. Esp after nightmares or sex. I have a weird, newish headcanon of Peeta calling Katniss honeybee sometimes. Or bird. Just like, bird. Sweet girl grew on me a while back and so I love that one on a rare occasion and when used sparingly (technically all these names should be used sparingly or else it’s just too much).
On the flip side, Katniss would probably also use the same ones for him that he uses for her but I feel like she would not use them as much for some reason. Peeta feels more like the one who’d use the terms of endearment.
Names I really can’t see for some reason are like sweetie or honey or babe or the like. I have nothing against them but I can’t imagine them for whatever reason. Oh and calling each other by their last names? For whatever reason I’m like “???” on that being cute or romantic or whatever.

yo i played persona 5 for the first time (III)
Alright, so this post (previous one here and first post in the chain here) is going to be about my general final notes and about Hina as a character.
Despite all my gripes, I did end up enjoying the game. I wouldn't have poured 230 hours into it if I'd hated it.
But most of the enjoyment I wrung from it was a result of the mod and the personal headcanon I spent the whole game developing. I really don't think this game would've been for me without that, which is why I don't intend on playing Persona 4 (well, at least until that game's female protagonist mod gets off the ground). I might play Persona 3 Portable as that game's female protagonist after a little break, though.
The final tally of Hina's Confidants:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sorry to all the Yusuke fans.
Everyone's final stats:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 2017, this would be about 88,000 dollars? Which is an absurd amount of money for her to just have on hand.
Favorite characters? I guess I'll list the characters:
Hina (cop-out, i know, but I like her a lot)
Futaba
Haru
Lavenza/the twins
Sojiro
Sumire
Ann
Ryuji
Akechi (he really jumped up in the last arc)
Hifumi
Sae
Morgana (he really jumped very late in the game as well)
Yusuke (sorry, Yusuke fans)
Iwai (I feel like I'd like him more if I'd got further in his Confidant)
Chihaya (same as Iwai)
Makoto (a sudden and incredible fall)
Maruki (he's the worst therapist ever, but he's pretty interesting when he's not talking way too much and his final scenes are really good)
Skilled Gamer (gonna be real, I don't remember his name)
Ohya
Takemi
Mishima (would have preferred if he was removed entirely)
Hina never met Kawakami outside of class and never spoke to that politician.
Anyway, as for Hina...
She's maybe my favorite player character in any video game ever. The slight jankiness of her implementation lent her so much charm, and characterizing her was a ton of fun, especially with how close my trans headcanon seemed to the game's reality. Does that affection transfer to Akira/Ren, or other people's genderswapped Jokers? Well, no, not really. I can't say I'm an expert on the way people view Joker as a character, but from a cursory glance, I feel like Hina's distinct enough from the popular interpretation that she's basically an entirely different person slotted into the role of protagonist. Maybe that's conceited of me.
Hina has the most common family name in Japan, and I thought Hina was the most popular given name in Japan in 1999, the year she was probably born. Turns out that wasn't the case, Hina is actually much more popular recently. The actual most popular name for 1999? Miku. So if I'd had accurate data, she may well have been called Miku Satou. Probably not though.
Hina didn't have friends in her hometown, partially because she was really quiet as a kid and partially because everyone started avoiding her after she started coming to school in a girls' uniform.
Hina's parents have been supportive from the beginning. In fact, her name is from them (she requested it). Also, they sent her to Tokyo with a maid outfit in her box of stuff, which is extremely funny. She calls them once a week, early on Sundays. She doesn't tell them about her phantom thief activities.
Hina's legal name is changed, but not her legal gender (people only ever call her Hina, even in situations where they'd have only read her name off legal forms, so her name must legally be Hina).
Hina largely doesn't react when people misgender her because she's used to it.
When Maruki mentioned that Hina might make a good counselor herself someday, the headcanon wheels started turning in my head and I realized that that's really fucking good. Hina wants to go to university to become a youth counselor, because she saw what happens when someone has the worst counselor ever. Not to mention Hina wanting to help kids like her who might not react well to an authority figure telling them how to live is really sweet.
Hina's trying to create a real version of her Phantom Thief outfit she can wear casually. She has red gloves in her winter school outfit! Why else would she have those? She's going to get white glasses frames next.
Hina isn't good at talking to people, but she comes off as confident because she also has a hard time speaking in any particular tone, so she almost always seems to be talking without reservations.
Hina is an only child. (Fairly sure this is an element of most people's imagined Jokers. No way does this person have siblings.)
I don't think most of the harsh things I put in quotes to indicate that Hina said them are things she actually would say. I think she's probably thinking them.
Hina has a gaming PC in her hometown. Her buying that laptop was because she was going stir-crazy from not having access to a desktop computer.
Hina likes Morgana much more than I do. She doesn't think of him as a big brother (lmao), but she does love him like a brother.
In contrast, I think Hina has exactly as much disdain for Mishima as I have.
Hina isn't really invested in Akechi. She thinks he's a terrible weirdo who she wishes would stop talking to her. When she learns about his actual motivations, that switches to thinking of him as kind of pathetic. She wishes he would have talked to her about his issues at all, because she probably could have helped him deal with them like she helps literally everyone else, but she's not so broken up about him not being in her life anymore. (In contrast, I actually quite like Akechi now that I get what they were going for with him.)
Hina is good at schoolwork, but she's lacking in common sense.
Takemi actually never misgendered Hina, and Maruki only did so once. It's pretty funny how the medical professionals are consistently the least transphobic people in the game. I wonder why that is? 🤔
Hina got really good at making coffee and curry in the year she spent at Leblanc.
Hina being shorter than regular Joker is especially funny because her animation speed has to be adjusted, so she walks really fast in cutscenes where she moves places. She has to move that fast to keep up with people.
Hina's relationship with Haru is going to cause an absolutely awful scandal if it ever becomes public. I have no idea how they're going to deal with that, but hopefully they'll figure it out.
Hina doesn't really find any new friends when she moves back home, but she's alright with keeping to herself and focusing on her studies while having friends she can talk to online and a cat who can talk.
Hina might be rejected from a lot of universities for her criminal record or her transness. She might've had her record expunged, but she still spent time in juvie, not to mention the heavily political implications of her actions might risk scandal for any university that she enrolls in. She might end up having to apply to universities abroad, where the Phantom Thieves and the events surrounding them weren't so much in the public consciousness.
Anyway, that's Hina Satou. I might write fic for her someday? But she requires a lot of context to really understand her. I care about her a lot, and people understanding her is important to me for some reason.
And finally: some of my favorite screenshots of Hina.

Letter Exchange
Part Two
AAAA YES- I love this idea and I love Neville 😭😭
Requested by: Anon
Neville Longbottom x Male!Ravenclaw!Reader
Both Neville and the reader are in their... idk, (coming up with this right now)... 5th year? It doesn't really follow the OG plot so... yeah.
Oh, and it might not be very in-character, but I tried my best.
OH ONE LAST THING- This insinuates Hermione x Pansy because I cherish my headcanons.
I hope you like it!

Tumblr media
(Y/N) walked up to the castle after attending Care of Magical Creatures, deciding to use his free hour to read in the Great Hall. The library was always too crowded this time of day, meaning Madame Pince was extra irritated. So basically an altogether bad situation that (Y/N) wanted to avoid.
He walked into the slightly crowded (though quieter than the library) Hall, making his way towards his table. (Y/N) took off his blue and silver scarf, setting it on the table with his bag before sitting down on the bench. He pulled out a book that his Gryffindor friend, Hermione, had recommended him. It was just for leisure reading, which he was enjoying. Just as he opened to the previously marked page, said Gryffindor friend sat down in front of him.
"Oh, (Y/N), you will not believe what just happened in potions! Snape threatened to use Neville's potion on his toad, Trevor! We all know Neville isn't skilled in potions, so I had to step in to help and got points taken from Gryffindor for 'Speaking out of turn'! Snape is a vile man. Poor Neville," Hermione ranted as she pulled out several course books and blank pieces of parchment. (Y/N) assumed she had been assigned an essay or two.
"Are Neville and Trevor alright?" he asked, eyebrows creasing in concern. He'd never really talked to Neville, but he seemed sweet and definitely didn't deserve Snape's wrath.
"Trevor is, I'm not sure about Neville, though," she answered, dipping her quill in her ink pot.
(Y/N) thought for a moment before pulling a parchment from his own bag, along with a quill and ink. He wrote a letter to Neville and slipped it into an envelope he had. He wrote Neville's name in swirly cursive on the front and slid it over to Hermione, which made her look up from her work.
"What's this?" she asked, picking up the paper and reading the name.
"I was wondering if you could deliver that to Neville the next time you see him?"
"Sure. You have lovely penmanship, by the way," she complimented as she slipped it into her bag.
"Thank you, it took practice." (Y/N) chuckled and returned to his book.
...
Later that night Hermione returned to her common room after splitting off from (Y/N), the two having walked together until they had to part ways. The portrait opened after she gave it the password and she climbed in, searching the filled room for Harry and Ron. She spotted them easily enough, and Neville was conveniently sitting with them.
Hermione approached them as she removed her scarf and put it in her bag, trading it for the letter.
"Hello, boys. Here, Neville, my friend asked me to give this to you," she explained as she held the letter out towards Neville. He seemed surprised as he took it, blinking when he saw his name.
"Wow, I don't think I've ever seen my name written this pretty. Who's your friend?" Neville asked as he traced the letters gently with his finger.
"(Y/N) (L/N) from Ravenclaw."
"Oh, (L/N)! He seems like a nice chap," Ron commented, Harry smiling and nodding in agreement.
"Quiet, though," Harry added.
"Hmm, not really," Hermione disagreed. "You just don't notice him."
Harry and Ron shrugged and the trio walked away, leaving Neville with his letter. He opened it and saw the same handwriting as his name. It was neat yet swirly cursive.
It read:
"Dear Neville,
You probably don't know me, but I'm (Y/N) (L/N) from Ravenclaw. I think we had herbology last year together. You were bloody brilliant in it.
Neville flushed at the compliment, lucky no one was watching him as he read it.
I was talking with Hermione and she told me what happened in potions. Is Trevor okay? I hope he is. I'm also worried for you, Snape can be cruel and you seem to be one of his favorite targets.
Neville flushed deeper- from both embarrassment and endearment. No one payed this much attention to him, much less send him a letter asking how Trevor was and expressing worry for himself.
I would like to help, if you'll let me. I'm almost top of my class in potions and can help you learn. Tutor you, if you will. You can either write back a response or find me. I frequent the library and Quidditch field often, so that's most likely where you'll find me.
Sincerely,
(Y/N) (L/N)
P.S. I'm serious about herbology, I could learn a thing or two from you."
//
Neville just blinked down at the paper he held. The cute Ravenclaw boy just offered to tutor him in potions and noticed his skill in herbology.
He decided he wasn't brave enough to talk to him in person, knowing he would turn into an embarrassing, red, blubbering mess. So he'd write him back.
Neville walked up to his dorm and sat down at the desk he and his dormmates shared. Pulling out a quill and parchment he wrote:
"ᴰᵉᵃʳ ⁽ʸ/ᴺ⁾
ᴹʸ ʰᵃⁿᵈʷʳⁱᵗⁱⁿᵍ ⁱˢⁿ'ᵗ ⁿᵉᵃʳˡʸ ᵃˢ ᵖʳᵉᵗᵗʸ ᵃˢ ʸᵒᵘʳˢ, ᵇᵘᵗ ᴵ'ˡˡ ᵗʳʸ ᵐʸ ᵇᵉˢᵗ.
Neville bit his lip, his face and ears growing red from nerve's.
ᵀʰᵃⁿᵏˢ ᶠᵒʳ ᶜᵒᵐᵖˡⁱᵐᵉⁿᵗⁱⁿᵍ ᵐᵉ ᵒⁿ ʰᵉʳᵇᵒˡᵒᵍʸ. ᴵ ʳᵉᵃˡˡʸ ˡᵒᵛᵉ ᵖˡᵃⁿᵗˢ ˢᵒ ⁱᵗ ᵐᵃᵏᵉˢ ᵗʰᵉ ᶜˡᵃˢˢ ᵉᵃˢⁱᵉʳ.

ᴾ.ˢ. ᴹᵃʸᵇᵉ ᴵ ᶜᵒᵘˡᵈ ʰᵉˡᵖ ʸᵒᵘ ⁱⁿ ʰᵉʳᵇᵒˡᵒᵍʸ?"
//
Neville cast a quick spell to dry the ink, luckily without pulling a Seamus and setting it on fire, and slipped it into an envelope identical to the one (Y/N) sent, seeing as they were the school issued ones. He scribbled (Y/N)'s name over it messily and ran back down to the common room, hoping one of the girl's- or even Hermione herself- were there to receive the message to deliver the letter.
There were still a handful of people in the common room, including Lavender Brown.
"Excuse me, Lavender?" Neville asked, approaching her with the letter nervously clasped in his sweaty hands.
"Neville?" Lavender responded, standing up from the couch she was sitting on.
"Can you give this to Hermione? And please tell her to give it to... the Ravenclaw," Neville asked timidly, not using (Y/N)'s real name so that it wouldn't be traced back to him. The last thing Neville wanted was for (Y/N) to get teased for talking to him.
"Uhm... odd request, but alright. Goodnight, Neville."
"Goodnight, Lavender."
Lavender walked up the stairs to the girl's dorms and Neville prayed that Lavender "Gossip" Brown wouldn't be interested in opening it. Now that he thought about it, maybe he should've waited to give it to Hermione himself the next day. Well, it was too late now.
Riddled with anxiety about the letter, Neville fell into an uneasy sleep. All thoughts went back to the letter that he had safely stored in his case at the end of his bed.
...
"Boo!"
Hermione gasped with wide eyes and held a hand to her chest, her surprised look morphing into a glare.
(Y/N), on the other hand, found the reaction rather amusing.
"You better watch your back, (L/N)," Hermione warned, pointing an accusing finger at him.
"I always do, Granger." (Y/N) winked at her teasingly.
"Oh, by the way, Neville wrote you back." She turned tot he bookshelf in front of her and avoided eye contact as she pretended to browse.
"He did?! Where is it?"
"I'm not sure I should tell you after what you just pulled."
"Please, Hermione! I'll do anything!" (Y/N) dramatically fell to his knees as she loudly whispered, (they were still in a library, he's no animal). His hands clasped in front of his face as he pleadingly looked up at Hermione.
"...Anything?"
"I'm going to regret this, aren't I?" (Y/N) asked rhetorically, looking scared.
"Anything, like... giving me your secret list of muggle book recommendations that you've never let me see?" Hermione smirked as she raised a brow down at him.
(Y/N) hung his head and slowly stood up, revealing his defeated frown.
"Fine," he sighe dout.
"Yes!" Hermione hissed and jumped up and down. The only reason Madame Pince hadn't gotten after them yet was because they were her favorite students, and this was a rare occasion, them being slightly loud. "The letter is in my bag."
(Y/N) quickly walked over to the chair with Hermione's bag hanging off of it, finding the letter easily. He smiled as he saw Neville's nearly unintelligible scrawl spelling his name.
"What are you smiling about?" Hermione asked smugly, sitting down with the book she had successfully found.
"Isn't his handwriting adorable?" His cheesy smile broadened as he flipped the envelope for Hermione to see, sitting down across from her.
"I wouldn't say adorable, exactly Unreadable is a better word..." Hermione grimaced.
"Oh, hush," (Y/N) scolded as he gently opened the envelope, unfolding the paper and letting his eyes fall on the first words. "He even apologizes for it!" he gushed to the frizzy haired girl across from him, who responded with no more than an unimpressed look.
After reading the letter, (Y/N) quickly got the supplies out to respond, taking time to make his handwriting just as pretty as last time.
"Can you-"
"Give this to Neville? I'm not going to be an errand girl-"
"Come on, Hermione. Don't you want that list?" (Y/N) wiggled his eyebrows, trying to convince Hermione to keep exchanging the letters for them.
She rolled her eyes and groaned, but took the letter anyways.
"Thank you~" (Y/N) sugarcoated it but Hermione wasn't complaining.
"Get met hat list and it's no problem."
...
Neville sought Hermione out this time, eager for a response.
"Hermione, did you get anything from (L/N)?" he asked, not even trying to hide his interest.
"You're in luck." Hermione smiled and handed Neville the letter. She knew her closest friend (outside of Harry and Ron) was falling in love with the Gryffindor boy, and she was thrilled it was being reciprocated.
Neville ran up to the dorm, glad it was empty, and opened the letter carefully, as not to damage it.
"Dear Neville,
I'm glad to hear back from you! I am also glad to hear that Trevor remains unharmed.
On the topic of tutoring; you needn't repay me. I am happy to tutor you free of charge. I wouldn't mind hearing about herbology, though. Maybe after our first session we could sit together at lunch and you could tell me about your plants? Only if you'd like to, of course.
Love,
(Y/N) (L/N)
P.S. Meet me in the library on Thursday during free hour before lunch? ♥"
//
Not only had he signed off with "Love", he added a heart at the end. Neville was probably reading too much into it but that didn't stop his heart from racing and his face from heating up. This man was perfect, Neville was sure of it.
"ᴰᵉᵃʳ ⁽ʸ/ᴺ⁾,
ᵀʰᵘʳˢᵈᵃʸ, ᶠʳᵉᵉ ʰᵒᵘʳ ᵇᵉᶠᵒʳᵉ ˡᵘⁿᶜʰ. ᴵ'ˡˡ ˢᵉᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ᵗʰᵉⁿ.
ᴸᵒᵛᵉ,
ᴺᵉᵛⁱˡˡᵉ ᴸᵒⁿᵍᵇᵒᵗᵗᵒᵐ
ᴾ.ˢ. ᴵ'ᵐ ˢᵘʳᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ʷᵃⁿᵗ ᵗᵒ ˡⁱˢᵗᵉⁿ ᵗᵒ ᵐᵉ ᵈʳᵒⁿᵉ ᵒⁿ ᵃᵇᵒᵘᵗ ᵐʸ ᵖˡᵃⁿᵗˢ. ♥"
//
Both the heart and the word "Love" seemed hesitant, the lines shaky and the ink faint. Neville wasn't used to being this bold but it felt right. With (Y/N) it felt right.
Neville gave it to Hermione and thanked her after she assured him she'd deliver it the next day.
...
(Y/N) stood by the "potions" shelf, which was coincidentally nearest to the door. He didn't want Neville to walk in, not see him, and assume he'd been pranked.
"(L/N)?" his hesitant voice asked, catching (Y/N)'s attention.
"Neville! Please, call me (Y/N)."
He held out a hand and Neville shook it, both dazed by the comforting feeling it had brought them both.
"Would you like to take a seat? I've collected some books that I think would be helpful."
Neville, was was still trying to shake out of the effect (Y/N)'s voice had on him, nodded and sat down at a nearby table.
"T-thanks," Neville stuttered as he pulled out parchments to take notes on. He wasn't used to this kind of attention.
"It's no problem. Now, if you just tell me where you have the most trouble we can start there." He flashed Neville a reassuring smile, making Neville return it with a more timid one.
...
Soon enough the hour was coming to an end, making (Y/N) sigh in disappointment as he looked away from the clock.
"It seems that lunch time is approaching." He stood and went to check out the books they had studied for Neville, leaving him to scramble his notes together and stand up.
"Can I take you up on your offer?" Neville asked as Madame Pince handed (Y/N) the books. He looked Neville with a kind, but confused stare, seemingly not remembering.
"To, uh... to sit together at lunch and talk about herbology..."
A look of understanding swept across (Y/N)'s face, making a smile appear as he held out the books.
"Of course! Would you like to sit at the Ravenclaw table or your own?"
"Ravenclaw." He didn't need his friends hounding him about the cute boy he was sitting with.
Neville reached out to take the books and their fingers brushed, shivers running up Neville's back while the tips of (Y/N)'s ears turned the faintest shade of red.
"Let's get going, shall we?" (Y/N) gestured to the door, letting Neville take the lead.
...
"Neville has another letter for you," Hermione revealed, the mischievous look on her face putting (Y/N) on edge.
"Really?!" They hadn't spoken since the day before at lunch, when they scheduled the next session for the same time the following week.
"What're you so excited for?"
"Don't be daft, Hermione."
"I want to hear you say it."
"I want you to confess how you feel about Pansy, but we can't all get what we want."
"So you do like Neville!"
"Did you just admit to liking Pansy?"
"What?"
"What?"
Hermione rolled her eyes and slid the paper over to (Y/N), trying to calm the red in her cheeks. He eagerly opened it, excited to add to his growing collection of letters.
"ᴰᵉᵃʳ ⁽ʸ/ᴺ⁾,
ᴵ ᵈᵉᶜⁱᵈᵉᵈ ᵗᵒ ʷʳⁱᵗᵉ ᶠⁱʳˢᵗ ᵗʰⁱˢ ᵗⁱᵐᵉ.
ᴵ ʳᵉᵃˡˡʸ ᵉⁿʲᵒʸᵉᵈ ˡᵘⁿᶜʰ ʷⁱᵗʰ ʸᵒᵘ, ᵃⁿᵈ ᴵ ʰᵒᵖᵉ ʷᵉ ᶜᵃⁿ ᵈᵒ ⁱᵗ ᵃᵍᵃⁱⁿ ˢᵒᵒⁿ.
ᵀʰᵃᵗ'ˢ ᵃˡˡ ᴵ ʰᵃᵈ ᵗᵒ ˢᵃʸ. ᴵ ʲᵘˢᵗ ʷᵃⁿᵗᵉᵈ ᵗᵒ ˢᵉᵉ ʸᵒᵘʳ ʳᵉᵃᶜᵗⁱᵒⁿ ʷʰᵉⁿ ʸᵒᵘ ᵒᵖᵉⁿᵉᵈ ᵐʸ ˡᵉᵗᵗᵉʳ.
ᴸᵒᵛᵉ,
ᴺᵉᵛⁱˡˡᵉ ᴸᵒⁿᵍᵇᵒᵗᵗᵒᵐ
ᴾ.ˢ. ᴸᵒᵒᵏ ᵇᵉʰⁱⁿᵈ ʸᵒᵘ."
//
(Y/N) whipped around and saw a blushing Neville, who seemed amused. Suddenly (Y/N) realized that Neville had heard the whole conversation.
Now it was his turn to be flustered.
End
--
Like I said, kinda out of character for Neville, but I enjoyed writing it nonetheless.
I hope you liked it!

Prayer for Forgiveness headcanons // @dirgeforthedead // Part ???
It's the fact that I just found the 'Prayer for Forgiveness' for the first time a couple of nights ago and…
Dirge is very intelligent, obviously. She has to be in order to be the caliber of assassin that she is. But she has also been raised in such a way that her value was in action and in following orders, not in chiming in or giving her two cents or questioning. In some ways, at least, with my version, she is very much almost non-verbal for many years.
Now, in plotting with one of my friends who isn't on tumblr, we realized it isn't until meeting Enver that starts to change. For the first part of their acquaintance, it was very much Enver being kind of fascinated/intrigued by her and talking at her about things… and then eventually she started speaking, and she, in fact, credits Enver with helping her find her voice…
So I was reading the letter last night when I found it and I realized something interesting.
Tumblr media
' Forgive me, Father, for I cannot help but admire the Chosen of your sworn foe: Enver Gortash's genius will take us far, but fear not — those of Bane always fall to the same folly: they cannot see the beauty of obliteration. The Absolute hoax will garner false love from new slaves, but once I've built a large enough army, I will use our hold upon the Absolute's slaves to begin this vile world's end.
I can see the path through Gortash's brilliant plan. Gortash, Ketheric and I will seize the Netherese relics that control the Crown, and then use the Crown to command the illithid Grand Design. The Dead Three, age-old foes, our dire patrons, will be bosom friends for a time.
Father, you created me to be the last soul alive. When the time is right, and my power is assured, I will slaughter Gortash and Ketheric upon your altar, where I myself hope to die when the world itself is gasping its last.
At the end of this all, Father, there will not be a single creature living. Everyone will die. Everyone will die for YOU. I will make you proud. '
[ note appended at bottom of page in a different hand ]
Ha! Orin was right about her sibling. — Balth.
Tumblr media
What occurred to me… is that sections of that note almost sound like Enver's over the top, very particular way of speaking? Because, honestly, his speech pattern, the diction… The way he speaks isn't exactly common, in my opinion. So when I say that he helped her find her voice, I guess I also mean that she emulated him in some ways.
I also find it interesting that she calls Ketheric by his first name, and Enver by his last. Almost as though she was overcompensating by trying to make him seem less important, less personal. If she uses his last name, it's all just business, right? Professionalism. See? Nothing to worry about because she has this totally under control.

Who are the members of the Morbucks Family, what what do they each do? does princess have any cousins?
From the number of Morbucks NPCs shown in the game, it seems to be a pretty big family. The ones I've found in-game work the banks (though I swear there were more, it might be my memories of Retro crossing over), so I'll list them as well as my headcanons for them below:
JaeHoon Morbucks: JaeHoon can be found running the bank in Peach Creek Commons and wears an Urban Ranger uniform. As a ranger, he's learned a great deal more about responsibility, charity, and teamwork than others in his family. Some other young Morbucks' think he's weird for joining them and wonder why he would ever want to stick around a small place like Peach Creek, but he genuinely enjoys roughing it more than they do, as it feels like something he's personally succeeding in, something outside of whatever the family throws him into with their limitless support. He is a more distant relative, but despite this, is still pretty well-known in the family for being very bright and already having a good mind for business.
He and Ranger Joey are really close, in that they're both scouts as well as in that they'll sometimes match each other's styles. Jaehoon respects that Joey knows how to work a deal and Joey admires how far Jaehoon has gone as a young tycoon in a giant family business. Chances are, this friendship will last and they may try some real business endeavors together in the future.
Jerry Morbucks: Jerry is located at the Townsville Mall, the same as Princess. While he's been tasked with helping keep an eye on her, he'd much rather focus on his own interests and can be somewhat lazy. He basically does as much of his work as is passable and then runs off to have fun when he can. We can take this both from his position in front of an ice cream shop at the mall and in the way he dresses (in the DexStar outfit), which further hints to a love of superheroes. He's also a big comic fan. Jerry and Princess can bicker quite a bit even though they're both on the lazier side, threatening to tattle on each other to their relatives. This stand-off can mean that a lot of the trouble they get into separately goes unreported for the sake of not having their own dirty laundry aired out.
Prince King Morbucks: Prince is located at Mt. Blackhead and is the most like Princess in looks and personality—so much that he's basically her 'Rowdyruff' counterpart. Like her, he has no concept of frugal spending, can be arrogant, and is used to getting what he wants. However, unlike her, while people can find Prince obnoxious and self-absorbed, he's not actually that bad of a person. He's spoiled, not evil. He'll throw money at anyone to have his way and does get upset if he still can't get it, but will react by fuming alone to himself instead of having a tantrum or hurting people. He wants to be in the groups that hold his interest, such as the Candy Pirates, but instead of getting vengeful from being excluded, he just gets really hurt. Instead of Princess' cycle of abusing the money she has to lord over others, while also knowing that the main reason many of his "friendships" exist is because of his wealth, he still feels a need to use it to impress others and be accepted. He's also very active, in contrast to Princess' stronger desire for comfort and reliance on tech.
I imagine he likely has the closest relation out of the Morbuckses I've mentioned. One common reason behind some middle names is to pass on the name of a relative. Given that his middle name is the same as Princess' father's first name, King, one of his own parents could possibly be the latter's sibling or close cousin—making he and Princess very closely related in-turn. Due to their differences, the two don't always get along.
There's supposedly at least a fourth Morbucks located in the Foresaken Valley, however, aside from records on Retro such as the patch notes, I can't find them: I know they were in Retro itself, but I've checked both versions on OpenFusion for the original game with no luck. (For some reason, I'm having trouble loading Retrobution as well. :/) This also doesn't include the Retro exclusive Morbuckses from when they added all of the additional bank space.
One thing that was also brought up in the Retro patch notes and that I noticed too was that there originally wasn't many female Morbucks NPCs. For the sake of headcanons, we could fit this in with Princess being a spoiled daddy's girl in that there might not be many other girls close to her age in the family, therefore giving her some special treatment within the Morbuckses as a whole.

CHARACTER SHEET INFO
Tumblr media
Name: Anna Liebert (first real name she associates with herself), Nina Fortner (the name she truly resonates with from her adopted parents)
THREE HEADCANONS YOU’VE NEVER TOLD ANYONE
Nina's something of a sleeper. She doesn't have command phrases or words, but her brother is able to give off a presence that draws her up by a string. In the manga, it's speculated maybe once or twice that Nina's actually the monster and doesn't realize it. That within her in something Johan's actually trying to protect her from, which is like, never mentioned in detail but man. It's definitely present in my characterization (as loose as it may be. idk, she needed more screentime).
Johan's decided he needs to be more involved in her sister's development, unfortunately(?) Nina's had boyfriends. Both of them not exceptional, more like good friends. It's not until Johan gentle nudges her in the direction of an upperclassmen, sometime around her last bachelor semester, that she realizes women are more appealing. Even later she realizes that sex seems more like an activity to enjoy distantly than something she necessarily craves.
Aside from the obvious issues with her mother, Nina finds comfort in dangerous men. She likes that they share that element in common, and doesn't shy away from the knowledge they bestow from time to time. It's funny, because occasionally, they'll look at her and wonder why the hell she's so interested in them and just oh. Like, wow, this girl found me out, hasn't told the police, hasn't change her demeanor once. Who the hell is she? And as soon as they have that private revelation, like clockwork, she's on their tail asking them question after question, lesson after lesson, gathering all sorts of information and techniques to eventually use for herself. And the strange part about most of them is that they'll give her what she wants without much effort. There's always a "you're so young and pretty, why do you need to do this?" Nina gets that look in her eyes and once again, they just know.
THREE THINGS YOUR CHARACTER LIKES DOING IN THEIR FREE TIME:
Read. Classics, the newspaper, web articles. You name it, she's read it.
Making clothes. She studying for a law degree, but she's also super into fashion. It's sort of comforting to her, as most of her brother's antics involve disguises, so when given permission (or orders disguised as requests) to be the distraction, Nina's brought it upon herself to pad them with the most ambitious styles she has knowledge of.
Training. She can fire a gun with 75% accuracy, so they're not her weapon of choice. If she must defend herself, she'd rather use martial arts and integrate a few small knives if the verse demands her to be more physically inclined. (Despite the grit required to make this something to like, she does enjoy it as a way to release pent up resentment. It's almost spiritual. Some techniques she'll get the hang of and be able to turn her brain off, going through the motions.)
SIX PEOPLE YOUR CHARACTER LIKES/LOVES:
She interacts with like, 4 people because her Mun is dysfunctional.
TWO THINGS YOUR CHARACTER REGRETS:
Not fighting for her brother when they were children. It was almost always Johan protecting her, but she couldn't recall ever doing the same for him.
Shooting him too.
TWO PHOBIAS YOUR CHARACTER HAS:
No phobias!
TAGGED BY: @unladielike TAGGING: @mugunghwc ( kim ), @badheart ( futaba/fang ), @furiaei, @zorkaya

Because you mentioned dating in your answer about Alem and ZaQ. Have any other members dated anyone publicly (including A.Z) love to read your writings! Also if you can, could you make post about Bibotta, Nurs Bazarbay etc who works for/with 91?
Hello again, anon!
Before I get to the others, let me add that Sara added some details to my answer about Alem/Veronika and ZaQ/Zhadra. (The detail I hadn't heard previously is that Zhadra is older than ZaQ. I will admit that when I read that I shrieked in delight. ZAQ GOT A NOONA, Y'ALL.)
As for the others, in no particular order:
AZ originally was dating a woman named Assiya (I don't think this is the same Assiya as Assiya Nestay, Ninety One's current choreographer) around 2017-18; I think Eaglez generally assume that his rap in "E.Yeah" and the line "my bae and I broke up and now I miss her" in "Men Emes" are about her. Soon after he left Ninety One and Juz, he started dating Erke Esmahan, and they were together for about a year and a half. (Erke was, and remains, a popular singer in her own right.) The Q-pop Discord (which you are welcome to join!) collectively disapproved of their relationship, though honestly I was never quite clear as to why; there was a lot of speculation that he didn't seem happy or entirely himself. Anyway, they split up a while ago and she recently married Rain. I don't know who he's with now, if anyone; both he and Ziruza have repeatedly denied that they're dating.
Bala (reports Sara) is reportedly dating Aruzhan, one of Ninety One's dancers. I'm not sure how public public this is: as best I know he's never referenced her on social media, and I don't remember any footage of them interacting in the behind-the-scenes tour videos. But it is apparently common knowledge enough that local Eaglez have given her crap. Stop giving the significant others crap, local Eaglez!
Ace is Ace is Ace is Ace. In the Timur Balymbetov interview he got asked what his longest relationship was, and I think, based on flailing attempts on my part to test the ability of various LLMs to machine-translate Kazakh, that he answered that it was four years long and no longer ongoing. If he is dating someone now the news has not made it to my ears. I kind of hope he is; given the sheer amount of in-office dating his bandmates have been up to, it's pretty easy to come up with unfortunate speculative headcanons where he goes around checking in with all of the female employees as to whether any of them have changed their mind since the last time he asked them out.
anyway! I will save the staff overview for another post, as it's late here and I won't be able to do it justice. but thank you, again, for stopping by!

Pearl could still be a god of many things
I'll be honest, I was in immediate denial the moment Joel brought up the whole farming god thing but the more he kept going it did gave me some ideas. Admittedly. I was very against it because I was too attached to the fanbase's interpretation of Pearl, which can be a problem as far as fandoms are concerned. So of course, this is my take on the most recent lore, which are a bunch of theories and headcanons thrown into the mix.
The Emperors from s1 were once revered as Gods but have now been forgotten
Pretty much the most common interpretation based from Joel's video and comment section. This does bring up some questions however. Like, Why is s1 Joel different from the current one? What's with the whole past life thing? What about Oli? If they all died out then how do you explain Pearl in Oli's video? What the hell was Afterlife smp?
Well, from what I could interpret from this is that after godhood, many of them decided to relive as mortals in the now recovered Empires world. However, before that some of them had to relive different lives over at Afterlife. (Which already puts a hole in this theory with how Pix wasn't in it)
Afterlife, in a sense, was a form of purgatory for them but not a purgatory entirely. It was just a regular domain that had its own weird rules and stipulations. Not every member was there for the same reasons the emperors were.
It was however, still partly ruled by Pearl. (pertaining to Oli's lore and Sausage's afterlife finale) So, why wasn't Pearl with them? It could be that one of them had to be left behind. It could also be that she created the world herself for them to get them used to mortal living. (there is no basis for the last one I just think its neat) Whatever the case, she was referred as a god in two people's lore.
I don't really think that s1 Joel is the same as s2 Joel for obvious reasons, but then that puts the question of where the hell is s1 Joel? Did he went to Afterlife? Is he out there? was he editor!Joel all this time? High likely s2 god!Joel isn't too directly related to the deceased gods but seem to be familiar with them and had some relations with them.
HOWEVER, I would now like to bring up my next issue regarding the recent lore.
Pearl isn't dead, Joel just has bad memory
Not to put Joel as an unreliable narrator but it does put some question to the validity of his claims after he said that he forgot a lot of things in his past. It tends to become my problem sometimes whenever it's used in writing and it makes me very prone to cherry picking facts since we wouldn't directly know what's real and what isn't.
Him saying that the other gods are dead don't really go against my previous statements though. But Pearl being "dead" dead is something slightly difficult for me to believe. Or how he categorize her as just a farming god since based from Pix's statue she had a different role.
It's not a crazy idea to give her different roles since many mythologies and pantheons have that. Take the god Apollo from Hellenism for example, he's the god of music, but also the god of prophecy, healing, and the sun. Saint Pearl here, could be the god of the harvest, sunflowers, the sun, the afterlife, death, battle, the reaper of souls, the ferry woman of death or whatever you'd interpret it.
I wouldn't consider Pearl as actually dead but she's probably forgotten, but not forgotten entirely. As Sausage has referenced, they did had a sunflower goddess back in his previous kingdom. Which he later learned her actual name. As for Oli, it could be debated on how long he's been in the minecraft credits limbo but it wouldn't really tell us much on what happened to Pearl after he left heaven.
So in the end, even with Joel's recent lore it doesn't really tell us that she actually died. She might have been forgotten by other civilizations but that doesn't mean death to a god. And even then, she wasn't entirely forgotten. She is now known in other names and might be venerated differently. Joel has some remembering to do it seems. Kinda like Sausage.
So yeah.
Extra:
On a writing perspective though, I kinda hope there would still be a lot of room for mystery and vagueness so it can keep the world interesting. And often when something was given TOO MUCH answers it tends to ruin the lore. Sometimes being given less of an answer is better. There is that balance of being given too little or too much.
On a another note it is weird and funny on how so much lore is being put on Pearl while she's not actively part of this season.

It's kind of weird King Boo likes to possess suits of you, huh?
//So I don't know if Bowser would actually be aware of that battle unless Mario or Luigi talked to him about it. Even so, by bringing this up, you stepped on the hidden Bowser space! So now I'm going to ramble about old Luigi's Mansion theories and headcanons that I used to subscribe to and wish was pushed more in the newer ones! Aren't you lucky? Under a read more just cuz it got long.
Namely, I love the ole King Boo is Bowser theory. The fortune teller ghost relays a warning of King Boo, but does not go much further than that. Then her last reading warns that Bowser is in the mansion. She then states this is not possible as the Koopa King was soundly defeated by Mario. It sounds like Bowser is gone, but now this new King Boo has come out of nowhere and started causing trouble--
This new King Boo, of course, because there have always been two main renditions of the character. The red-eyed villain of Luigi's Mansion has only been seen in those games. Every rendition of King Boo that has Bowser alive at the same time is that black-eyed one with the regular crown. Thus, they either both exist at the same time, or the King Boo in Luigi's Mansion exists in a timeline where Bowser no longer lives.
King Boo pilots a Bowser suit in the final boss. This concept has been done to death in Mario, from tanooki tails, to mechas, to cardboard replicas-- so I could certainly see someone else in the series doing it. However, its way more fun to presume that King Boo has summoned his discarded body. The suit looks exactly like the real thing, which is where all those replicas fall short-- its quite easy to tell all of them are fake Bowsers. King's Boo's Bowser does not show any obvious flaw however, other than its head popping off like the Headless Horseman's. That is a potential cause of death: there is always an axe at the end of the level... It also continues on when the head pops off, but without King Boo inside, the suit's head becomes soulless and loses its eyes.
I enjoy the theory because it adds a lot to King Boo's objectives. For one, he seems completely obsessed with vengeance against Mario. Despite Luigi now being his main rival, he always wants Mario captured. If Mario is the one who soundly defeated him, his persistence becomes purposeful: he wants revenge on the guy who ended him. Otherwise, King Boo references all the trouble Mario caused him in the past. Once again, Bowser would be Mario's most common rival and he'd quite literally carry his grudge to the grave.
Thus, I do wish Luigi's Mansion as a series would have pushed this potential origin a bit more. Have Bowser get more of his undead troops involved as time went on-- like Dry Bones. They could visit the remains of his former castle as a mansion! Have him reanimate the bones that remain of his body: Dry Bowser. Even make him say more lines about things Bowser might have known about Luigi in life. Taunt the being stuck in his brother's shadow all the time-- tell him to turn on Mario. Tell him he's seen him suffering as player 2.
Also, I enjoy the theory because it opens the door to his cameo in Bayonetta. His limbs can be summoned through the wicked weaves. Since this ability calls upon demons in Inferno, it could imply he's died and carried on in death. You could even be ridiculous, as it is said King Boo was revived by Madame Gravely, who is built a bit like Bayonetta's witches and may be a fan of him for that. Now we pushing to the extremes, and I think E. Gadd actually says he just sold King Boo's portrait at a garage sale, but whatever this is headcanon heaven I enjoy headcanons going wild sometimes.
tl;dr: I am kinda glad King Boo and Bowser have never been shown meeting one another. A verse where Bowser died and haunts Mario purely for revenge gives King Boo and Bowser that little extra edge I enjoy them having. Nintendo, give us interesting lore to theorize about in the Mario world please I'm dying over here.

I did this on my iPad last night/this morning but favorite/least favorite classes of the main HL crew. The text next to their names state the electives. I wish I gave the top row some more space but oh well. Do any of you guys have opinions on this? Was fun character building.
Here are my longer thoughts/explanations.
For my MC, Emily, I kinda based it off my play style and also what I enjoyed but also what made sense. DADA made sense as a like. I enjoyed potions and I super enjoyed the Arithmacy puzzles so I kept that. For dislikes: I hated the astronomy tables, too fiddly. Also I never used to Transfiguration spell. And Divination, well, HP colored my view of the class and I never would've taken that class so I'm pretending I'm taking the 3 electives(Thus D+B+A)
Sebastian obviously loves DADA. Mr best duelist of our year. He also enjoys his Ancient Runes elective and History of Magic. I see him being super studious and not minding the book classes. I don't see him liking the more hands on classes like Potions and Beasts(Which I never would've picked as his elective but whatever, he was in a cut scene).
With Ominis, I've gotten the same line that Weasley is prepping him for Transfiguration NEWTs already at least twice. I think it may be NPC dialogue but I also haven't noticed it on anyone else so let's pretend it's canon. I feel like Charms go hand in hand with that so I was like what's another that Ominis would like... Charms??? Also I 100% headcanon that Aritmacy was common ground with him and Emily to bond without the rest of their friend group in the way. Especially when things got rough with Sebastian. That was their place to just be them without having to think about dark arts and relics and curses. But we know in game he doesn't like Herbology or Potions. I feel like Potions frustrates him because it's probably very sight based with are particular it is(As Sharp insists, one sneeze can ruin everything) and it's hard to adapt. But he and Sharp worked together a lot in the early years to find work arounds. Lots of after class sessions and trial and errors and ingredients already being cut. I could do a whole post about this.
With Natty, Charms is clearly her best subject and she's in Crossed Wands so DADA was a good educated guess. I also feel like Ancient Runes for some odd reason. I don't think she minds Divination for Divination but because her mum forces it on her and the embarrassment of her mum teaching it.
Obviously Poppy loves Beasts class and Herbology. I also think she would enjoy astronomy. She seems very hands on learner. She would find History of Magic so boring(And yes, I didn't let myself say everyone hated HoM). I also feel like she is morally opposed to also the transform *animal* into *object in Transfiguration and hates that class because of it and views it as inhumane.

i dont know if this has been asked but do you know when did Jackie started calling Hyde Steven? Also I noticed she calls him Steven during the prom episode and then reverts back to Hyde, so any headcanon of her switching from Steven to Hyde and vv?
Jackie starts calling Hyde Steven consistently in "Moon Over Point Place" (2x26), after he takes her under his wing in "Cat Fight Club" (2x25) and teaches her how to protect herself by revealing his own self-protection mechanism (and, thus, makes himself vulnerable to her). He also invites her to become part of the circle in that episode. In "Cat Fight Club," Jackie still calls Hyde Hyde.
Jackie clearly begins to idolize Hyde because of his respect and overall treatment of her in "Cat Fight Club". She's eager for his attention in "Moon Over Point Place". Her interest in him isn't romantic (yet). She's hungry for more of the platonic-intimate interactions she had with him in the previous episode. He treats her differently than most guys, most people, she's ever known -- as if her life and (emotional) safety have value.
She seems surprised people (or men) like him exist, people who'd put their own safety aside for someone else, push against long-established friendships to include her in the group, choose protecting a vulnerable acquaintance (her) who disrespected him repeatedly over loyalty to a childhood friend (Kelso) who betrayed her.
So her switch from calling Hyde by his last name to his first is indicative of the closeness and trust she feels for him. One of her lines from the circle scene in "Moon Over Point Place" demonstrates her thoughts and feelings about him: "You know, Steven and I tease each other. That’s what best friends do!"
She thinks of herself and Hyde as best friends. Again, platonic. In school, she's surrounded herself with people who'd betray her in an instant (and probably have). People she's likely betrayed herself. Loyalty, sympathy, and comfort in her social circle are foreign concepts.
Then Hyde puts his physical safety, his future, on the line for her by going to jail in her stead. That act multiplies her gratitude toward and idolization of him a hundred-fold. She confuses those feelings for romantic love (it's a common occurrence in people, kids, teens, and adults) and grows possessive and obsessive over him.
This isn't to say a seed of romantic love for him isn't planted in her during this time, but Hyde is the one who comes away from their S2-S3 arc with genuine and flourishing (yet unrequited) romantic feelings for Jackie.

To the anon who just sent me an ask about That ‘90s Show --
I just wanted some mention that Jackie and Hyde are together.
Same. I don’t need to see them on-screen. I want Jackie and Hyde’s prime timeline to be repaired (it was broken by season 8, and That ‘90s Show doesn’t repair it).
‘Tis not to be on-screen. Fanfic and other fanworks have sustained us since season 8 of T7S, and they’ll clearly have to sustain us ‘til the end of time. 😂

i just saw a spoiler for T9S of MK's scene and it's her getting remarried to Kelso 🤢 and getting slutshamed by Kitty? You can still see how badly the authors hate Jackie if they're not only keeping her in an unhappy marriage but letting her short screen time be one where she gets slut shamed by Kitty. How is this still the show's humour?
Jackie's a vessel for the writers' misogyny and misogynistic humor, clearly, not the nuanced character she's depicted as during S1-S7 of T7S. 🤦 🤷

My #1 post of 2022
Seems like everyone outside of Tumblr is excited about That 90s Show but everyone on Tumblr hates even the idea of it. Why is that?
I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I think others might feel similarly. Season 8 of That '70s Show caused a lot of pain for those of us who care about fidelity to the show's characters and their previous seven years of development. Season 8's depiction of the characters veered so far from S1-S7's depiction as to make the characters unrecognizable. The disrespect of Jackie from beginning to end is particularly egregious.
Similarly, the premise of That '90s Show makes little to no in-character sense. Eric and Donna having a child that old in the mid-nineties breaks the fictional dream. Jackie and Kelso being married, divorced, and getting remarried makes no sense either, considering who those characters are and their growth arcs during season 1-7 of That '70s Show (minus the cliffhanger that was hastily written to accommodate the newly greenlit season 8. In the originally-written series finale, Hyde supposedly goes to the motel and proposes to Jackie).
That '90s Show is clearly -- in the words David Trainer (T7S's series director) used to describe season 8 of T7S -- an alternate universe, one of many possible futures for the characters. It's not the canon future, which would've seen Jackie and Hyde married, Eric and Donna having a much younger child, and Kelso raising teenage Betsy (and six other daughters, lol) with Brooke.
In social media spaces outside of Tumblr, the That '70s Show message board at fanforum.com, Fanfiction.net, AO3, and parts of twitter, fans appear to have a more casual attitude toward That '70s Show and TV shows in general. Fidelity to characters and their storylines isn't as important as the laugh and seeing beloved characters onscreen again, despite that those characters don't internally resemble those they actually enjoyed watching on T7S. The characters have the same names and faces, are interacting on the same set, and those external factors are enough for a lot of people.
Red and Kitty might be the only canon (or canon-adjacent) part of T9S. But with the rest of the characters' lives being so off-model (a term used in animation to describe when a character isn't drawn properly [e.g., Bart Simpson's hair having twelve spikes instead of the standard nine]), I can't view this show as anything but an AU fanfiction onscreen.
T7S was an important show to me when it originally aired. Season 8 was horrible to experience. I lurked on fanforum.com's T7S spoiler board to learn if Jackie and Hyde would eventually reconcile. I learned there about the letter-writing campaign asking the producers to put Jackie and Hyde back together by the end of the series. Hundreds of letters were put into a packet a fan brought to a S8 taping. She was told by a producer that Jackie and Hyde were definitively over.
Unlike The Office, whose actors and writers paid great attention to its online fanbase and altered course when the show’s most ardent supporters said, “This storyline is on the verge of destroying X,” T7S’s writers and producers never tuned into what the show’s most ardent fans actually cared about and came back week-after-week to watch. They went by the typical TV series playbook: celebrity guest stars, setup-punchline.
With Eric’s absence, season 8 should have focused on Jackie and Hyde’s relationship, the show’s biggest draw after Eric. The online fandom during the show’s original airing was massively focused on J/H. People who went to the S8 tapings were, too. They booed whenever Samantha’s character came onstage, and they were told to stop on threat of being kicked out.
Once I learned that J/H weren’t going to reconcile, that's when I quit watching T7S. I watched the series finale because I'd learned from the spoilers board that Eric and Donna would reunite. That was some consolation. Then I didn't watch the show for three years because of the S8 showrunners' utter disrespect, misunderstanding, and mishandling of characters. For me, T7S show ends when Hyde says, "No, I've decided [to marry Jackie]," to Eric. This is the last vestige of the show's original ending.
T7S and T9S's higher-ups (save Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith) don’t care about fidelity to character. They care about money and the number of viewers (which equals money). This became clear toward the end of S5 of T7S, but it wasn't all-or-nothing (until S8). With T9S, it is. Jackie and Kelso’s romantic pairing is the epitome of this. It makes no character sense, but it makes financial sense because their portrayers got married. Buzz! Media hype! But actors ≠ the roles they play.
I'm sure plenty of people will enjoy That ‘90s Show. Red/Kitty fans and Eric/Donna fans will get to see their favorite couples together again and know that they are still together fifteen years after the time of T7S. Many of us on tumblr (and elsewhere), though, are yet again being deprived of Jackie and Hyde’s happy future. Season 8 destroyed it once. That ‘90s Show had the opportunity to repair the damage (to both the fans and the characters). Hyde never had to be seen. Jackie and other characters could’ve simply talked about him.
Unfortunately, putting Jackie and Hyde together again probably would’ve brought negative media attention because of real-life circumstances. Putting Jackie and Kelso together brings mostly positive media attention, makes casual fans happy / gives them a laugh, and hurts “only” a contingent of the show’s most passionate fans.
It’s a smart, real-world move based on real-world considerations. It’s also one that does not depict the actual future of canon!Jackie and canon!Hyde. Season 8 of T7S didn’t depict that, either. And so their real (fictional) future is, as ever, left up to their fans to write.
If Jackie and Hyde had been put back together in T9S, however, and written to have -- say -- a fourteen-year-old kid, I’d probably give the show a chance. Even though J/H having a kid that old in the mid-nineties is totally OOC and ridiculous, as least my OTP of OTPs would be together onscreen (in some fashion) and “official” (even if the details of it aren’t quite canon).
I think the above is one reason why many people are excited about T9S and can ignore its 99.99% OOC foundation (i.e. Eric and Donna having a fifteen-year-old kid in 1995): their favorite couples are together and will be seen onscreen again (Kitty/Red, Eric/Donna, Jackie/Kelso). Another reason is a lot of people simply don’t care about character/story consistency or in-universe cohesion.

Hi liah. Long time reader first time messenger here. I just wanna ask you what your bloodhound look like to you? I see bloodhound as a female and I picture her with red hair just like you! What else can you tell us about your bloodhound? Also I hope your day is great! 🥰
Hello hello! My day is great so far. I hope yours is as as well <3
It seems that red hair is a common headcanon among fans. I think it just has to do with Bloodhound's uncle having red hair. Although, I just want to give a short biology lesson here, red hair is a recessive gene. Meaning BOTH parents have to pass it on to their child for the child to show red hair. We know that Bloodhound's father carries the red hair gene because Uncle Artur is Bloodhound's uncle on his father's side. We don't know anything about Bloodhound's mother, so it's not known if his mother carries the red hair gene.
I REALLY wish I was able to draw, because I just can't find any fanart of Bloodhound that matches what I see in my head. I was able to find this image through Google like forever ago and I edited it a bit in photoshop to more closely resemble my own Bloodhound. It's not perfect by any means, but it's sort of the idea.
Tumblr media
Again, this isn't my drawing. I only edited it. All credit goes to the original artist. I don't know who drew it because I found it off of Google, so if anyone knows who the artist is, let me know and I'll make sure to properly credit them.
Basically, my Bloodhound -has red hair -has greyish/light eyes (not exactly blue) -has a few tattoos as seen in the image -and still has the face scars he got as a child from inhaling coolant (I was unable to add the scars into my edit because I couldn't find a way to make them look "natural")
My Bloodhound is also late 30's, like 38-ish. Which is how old he actually is in the Apex universe. I also like to think his name is either Einár Johannson, or Viðarr Johannson. Why?
1) because, historically, Scandinavian culture went by patronyms (naming your child after the father). Most Scandinavian countries no longer use this custom. Norway, for example, made it a LAW back in like the 1920s that every family must have an inheritable surname, so most families at the time either just used the last-given patronym as a surname, or created a surname based on where they lived or what their profession was. My family in Norway has been using the same last name for generations now because of this law. I think it's my great uncle that was the last person to have a patronymic name??? I'm not exactly sure. My family is not exactly close with them because we're so far removed from each other. Iceland still uses patronymic names, and Bloodhound is Icelandic, so I gave Bloodhound a patronym. Bloodhound's father is named Johann, so Bloodhound's patronymic name would be Something Johannsson, which means Son of Johann. Sweden and Iceland use the name ending -sson, whereas Norway and Denmark use the name ending -sen.
2) I chose the name Einár (pronounced aye-narr) because it's an Old Norse name, which I like Old Norse since Bloodhound was raised "by the old ways". It means "one who dies in battle" or "one who fights alone", which I thought was fitting for him because he essentially lives his life in solitude. I also chose the name Viðarr (pronounced Vee-tharr) because Viðarr is the son of Odin, and I thought having a God's name would connect Bloodhound more with The Old Ways. It means "wide warrior", although the name meaning wasn't really why I picked it.
And that's about it for my Bloodhound. Of course I have headcanons related to his personality, but that's just a whole shit load of things that would take too long to type out here. I try to incorporate those headcanons into my fics whenever I can (i.e. Bloodhound having a MASSIVE sweet tooth).

My preference in men chances. But I'm an extremist... Either the men I'm interested in are either violent savages, romantic sweethearts and ice kings. There is never the in between personalities with these guys. But one thing they have in common is that they're violent, tendencies range from fist fights to murder. I love men who can fight, or even kill, if the situation requires it. The protectiveness attracts me to them.
~
No! That's a different scene. But the confetti scene is from an episode before the Carrie scene episodes later. Both scenes are funny though.
And there is a canonical queer character in the series. But.. He's really a completely cunt who so deserved everything that happened to him. That's just my opinion though.
~
Oh! Hostel. That's my fault.. I didn't really realize that I spelled the title wrong last time. Then you won't like The Sadness. So you do not have to watch that movie then. Which is fine. The Sadness is a gory movie.
Who? Oh! Iko Uwais. Yeah.. I guess that I enjoy him as an actor, since I have seen quite a few of his work. And Joe Taslim is also in two of the movies too. They worked together a lot. Maybe because they're really martial artists who are in these action movies. Which is so fine by me.
Surprisingly, he's not one of the actors I'm not attracted to. But I have to say the short man knows how to fight though. So credit for that.
I'm thinking about watching Little Women. Maybe not at the moment though, but I can say that it might be a maybe from me. Because I've found out Joong-ki has a cameo in one of the episodes, and you have also wanted me to see some of Wi Ha-joon's work. I blame Vincenzo.
Actually I have already been trying to search for more work of Joong-ki (Vincenzo), Do-hwan and Sang-yi (Bloodhounds). Because why not see more talent from these pretty men. You can ignore me whenever.
Do you have Tubi? Because you can watch Masters Of Horror on that channel, app, whatever. Both seasons should be listed on the app.
Wait.. What? What about documentaries? I'm confused now.
Yes! Mainly their hairstyles. But something about the features, even a little, seemed like that could pass as relatives if they actually did have roles together. Maybe we'd be lucky to have them work together? But who knows.. If they do work together, hopefully in action roles then.
~
Exactly! Either you're petty enough to kick a sick man when he would be down - literally, or you are afraid enough to have a group of people to jump this man when he's down. Nikaido's a cunt for any outcome.
That's how I imagined them dying. If they ever did kill Eri and anyone who was sick in Nameless, euthanizing them with drugs until they've died is there 'humane' way of letting them die. Besides car accidents.
Do you think Takeshi would have let Shion back into the family? Since you never see him again. Except in one scene after he left the city.
~
You can have any headcanon you want. If that's what you believe then that's all that matters then. I don't care enough about the Ichigo Girls. Except when bitching about them, bitching about their horrible types of men their attracted to. Because they're still really stupid that way.
My Orange character is five feet tall, maybe even barely five feet tall if I'm being honest. You know.. "She may be small, but she is fierce."
Apparently our ships with Cobra are short women. I'm fine with that... Because that seems funny to me for some reason. I don't know why.
Maybe Murayama learns not to underestimate women, Rocky's really scolding at Murayama for underestimating how strong women are.
I can't lie. The only person I recognized was Ayaka Miyoshi.. I actually recognized her name. But I had to do some research on the others.
And I might be biased about Ayaka being Hiroto's love interest, when comparing to the other girls. But you choose your own face claims.
You're going with school uniforms? Well.. That makes sense since any Oya boys you see are wearing uniforms, same with most schools too.
~
I've done bad things. Some things I would rather not mention, but the things I did were never what people have been lately. None of.. that...
And my punishments varied on what I did. Either a timeout, slap on a wrist, or maybe grounded. Depends on the severity of my crimes that I did. Crimes as in actions, not actual crimes. Not always. Anyway.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm a complete disappoint for everyone in my family. And I'm an only child. Which makes the situation worse.. My parents are bipolar. One day they'll believe in one thing, then they would believe in something else the next day. Completely whiplash.
My mother... The best way I can explain my mother, she is considered The Devouring Mother type of mother. That archetype is what she is.
Everything has been worse for humanity now.
mood. my preferences are a lil all over the place too. sometimes i’ll watch something thinking i’ll get attached to one character and then end up liking a different character more.
i do love a good fight-y man tho. fight scenes are so good!
~
yea i’m a lil more of the psych horror side. i mean, i’ve watched gory movies too. i’m just a lil more preferable to mind fuck-y stuff.
little women is admittedly a bit slow and not very action heavy, but i was mainly watching it for kim go eun and wi ha joon. joong-ki was in one scene very briefly, which i did recognise him in since i’d watched those two episodes of vincenzo before watching that ep.
i do have tubi! i haven’t been on it in a while tho, i should recheck it out, there’s some decent movies on there.
nevermind that! i got masters of horror mixed up with a horror documentary series! that’s my bad!
~
i think takeshi would invite him shion back if be wanted to come back. since they’d already lost one family member, i think he’d try to bring shion back to get all his childhood friends back together - and probably stop him from going to fight nikaido if shion found out he was behind smokey’s death.
~
same i dont really care about the strawberry girls. not giving them too much though really.
ur orange girl + my ojou girl 🤝 being short, dating cobra, kicking ass.
rocky’s scolding murayama for underestimating women, but also turning around to his rascals like ‘if you see the ojou girls in a fight, make sure they’re protected’.
i do love ayaka. and she’s tall (well, 5’6) and i need to balance out my short characters. plus, tall chill second hand and short fiery leader is always a fun aesthetic concept. plus her and hiroto’s actor would be. a very attractive coupling.
if you’re referencing those gifs i sent, that’s more about how she’s acting in the scenes; i think her fashion and hairstyle would be different. the full time ojou students would probably wear uniforms, but the part timers wouldn’t.
more ojou notes!
if ojou’s colour isn’t pink, i could see it being purple. more visually similar to oya’s colours, but a lil more feminine. a ‘royal’ colour for the ‘young lady’ school.
alternatively to ojou showing up at a sword meeting, i could see ojou’s leader - i’ll just start calling her yui - going into sannoh territory to confront cobra, about the ‘o’ in sword situation and sannoh fighting oya/murayama. and then meeting him and being like ‘oh no! he’s hot!’ and then fumbling the ball on confronting him. she gets hit by The Crush™ and suddenly she’s all blushy and ‘uh. ehm…😳’.
if we’re putting a label on it, she’s a lil tsundere-ish
also junko hates her. yui’s so confident in being utterly herself, even when she’s suddenly shy around cobra, and he’s paying attention to her! meanwhile junko’s still trying to make herself look ‘cool’ in front of cobra and he isn’t giving her the time of day. also yui does not care about junko and is willing to fight her, but junko won’t square up.
cobra’s really getting clocked from both sides. he’s got both oya and ojou’s leaders being like ‘cobra-chan~ 🥺’ and then they’re bickering with each other because ‘fuck off cobra-chan’s my friend’ ‘you fuck off, he likes me better’.
