i'm surprised i still haven't listened to big shot more than either of these-
#puppy rambles#rhythm hell#partially-#there's like three deltarune songs in a row in this section (those being big shot a cyber's world? and smart race) gghggyfggfgd-#i wouldn't even consider a cyber's world my second favorite. that title would probably go to world revolving-#ah yes. my three favorite deltarune songs. chapter 2 secret boss theme. chapter 1 secret boss theme#and the funni birb with self-esteem issues' battle theme gghfgfvfff-#i mean my three favorite undertale songs are sad goat boi's theme. sad goat boi's edgey oc battle theme#and the funni trans catgirl's theme-#not in order. mad mew mew is unironically my favorite undertale song i only listened to it the first time a few months ago#but it very quickly beat his theme and hopes and dreams-#‚‚‚ admittedly save the world might slightly beat out hopes and dreams also and in my eyes that's frisk's theme and not asriel's theme#it fits i think. i have too many thoughts about these video games#also megalovania is the player's theme (i think basically everyone is in agreement of that after deltarune chapter 2)#and determination is chara's theme (the red soul isn't determination but it's fitting for separate reasons)#(one of those being that asgore has determination in part of it and i saw someone say it supposedly has his theme/memory in it)#(and it definitely has heartache in it. so it has all of his. very fucked up family in it. why are the funni goats so fucked up-)#(chara is included in the funni goats. i mean kris deltarune seemingly has species dysphoria over not having horns)#(and chara is just undertale kris so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)#these tags got long what was i talking about again-

i didn’t want to keep reblogging that ch.1 game over post over and over so here are some more comments from other users that i thought were really cool and wanted to share/expand on
@determinators
Tumblr media
Gaster knowing personally of Chara when they died is something i hadn't really considered in any depth and it's SO interesting and i can't stop thinking about it now
my current (admittedly convoluted) line of thinking is that G originated in the Deltarune universe, and his strong desire to un-doom its timeline is motivated in part because it's his home and he feels a sense of duty (maybe because of past actions) to the people in it -- especially the kids, maybe kris in particular (again, for any number of possible Reasons). i think Egg as a symbol of young, vulnerable life being given out to teenagers represents a gesture of nurturing (even if a very weird/unsettling one from the recipient's POV lol), and when we consider the repeated references to eggs not hatching...
so from there, if we hold that G hopped over to UT at some point (maybe with the "followers"? maybe to flee the Roaring?), and was royal scientist when chara was still alive... holy shit dude.
given just the sheer similarities between kris & chara (and especially if we believe kris & chara to be instances of the same character "model"), the idea that he was able to see kris alive "again" in some form before having to experience their terrible death and the fall of "darkness" a second time... i could see that driving him to a point where he might just feel like he has nothing left to lose, you know?
idk there’s so much i’d like to say but i feel like i’m veering a little too far into speculative fanfic territory whenever i start getting into it. but imo the G/chara parallels definitely seem to be there thematically and i think there’s potential for narrative significance to it as well (is G maybe taking extra interest in Kris in Deltarune the game in part due to what he saw happen to chara in undertale, and/or his particular sympathy for chara because of how his own well-meaning past choices led to harm like theirs did, and/or how his own inaction/indecision in the Undertale universe factored into them making their big mistakes in the first place? is anything about that ethically fraught from kris deltarune’s POV???)

one of the things i find so interesting is that he doesn't just say they're wonderful — those statements are among the very few times he ever breaks from his "script." they’re among the only moments of spontaneity we see from him in the whole introduction sequence.
if you pick someone else’s name, even "sans" or "papyrus" or "asgore" or "gerson," he just says HM WHAT A COWINKYDINK. and if you give one of the kids’ names to the vessel alone, he responds similarly neutrally, as if he knows that because you’re giving that name to the "character," you already have some amount of meta knowledge and therefore have already "met" them as a character. he even said on twitter that he knew we were looking for him — he knows we’ve played undertale, and that might be why he’s seeking us out in the first place.
possible masking for personal reasons aside, if we consider that we’re participants in a "survey" or test case, that kind of neutrality is both polite & professional and necessary. whatever biases he personally has, he needs to minimize his betrayal of them, because that could influence the behavior he seems to be attempting to study. and if he’s aware of our (from his POV) tremendous metaphysical power and knowledge, then i think he might be just as skeptical of us as we are of him.
and yet, if you give yourself one of the main lightner kids’ names, he seemingly assumes it really is a coincidence and he just completely breaks. he is so excited for you to meet Kris, Noelle, and Susie for what he thinks is the first time that he can’t stop himself from telling us how very, very wonderful he thinks they are. it’s like he pauses from taking a note, looks up from his clipboard, and says, "NOELLE, YOU SAY. I HAPPEN TO KNOW OF A NOELLE MYSELF." he doesn’t just like these kids, he likes them so much that despite his best efforts he just can’t hide it.
the only other seemingly spontaneous moments occur when we give ourselves his name (discussed below) or when we give the vessel and creator identical names ("OF COURSE OF COURSE. OF COURSE THEY ARE THE SAME.").
@cogentsummoner
Tumblr media
YES the name thing is something i’ve been thinking about a lot too.
to explain that more for anyone who’s unfamiliar: in the intro/"GONERMAKER," G ends the survey session as soon as the last letter of his name ("GASTER") is typed. he doesn’t wait for you to submit it, and he doesn’t ask you to change it to something else, he fully just takes the player out of the session. as soon as he sees his full name, he removes you (and, it’s worth noting, himself) from the situation.
this could be taken many ways, but i definitely think "startled" is accurate regardless of anything else. beyond that, it could be skepticism wrt your meta knowledge of him, as discussed before, but we’ve also established that he knows we likely know who he is. he knows we were looking for him. i also don’t think such spontaneity and haste would be expected to follow from skepticism, frustration, or fatigue alone.
PERSONALLY i believe that confronting his own name brings up deep discomfort for him (for, again, whatever Reasons). just seeing it causes him to panic. it causes him to break beyond affection for certain kids and even grief/disappointment after a game over. whatever it stirs in him makes him feel so exposed that he can’t even allow us to be present for it. note that while he doesn’t return us to menu/title after dying, he does that exact thing in response to seeing his name.
maybe interesting to note, "WINGDINGS" and the like don’t cause any particular reaction. it’s just "GASTER" that sets him off.
the survey sequence in general is very very interesting. why does G even give us a character creator in the first place? i know everyone’s already talked about "choices don’t matter" with the discarding from a thematic perspective but could there be narrative/characterization potentials as well? if G’s trying to help the player, his collaborator & participant, feel comfortable, what does the offer of a customized "vessel" say about what he values, what makes him feel comfortable or uneasy?

Undertale Theory: Prince Asriel Had Schizophrenia & Split Personality
first of all, please don’t take offense or misinterpret this theory about Prince Asriel, but it is possible for even children to end up with Schizophrenia and it could be possible that it could exist in Undertale, and the Fallen Prince had it before he fell and some of his dust that had some of his memories became Flowey. but if you don’t want to read this theory, it’s okay, and you can wait for the next theory post or fan art post and it’s okay if you don’t want to read this.   but yeah, reading this is optional...
but real life schizophrenia could be serious, and I don’t want any misunderstandings when I talk about it in theory that has to do with Prince Asriel possibly having it but possibly different from human’s schizophrenia.
once again no one has to read this, as it is optional, so you can skip this if you like and wait for the next post.
anyway on to the theory about Prince Asriel:
it is possible that "Chara" was a hallucination of Asriel, not only that but Chara was part of his split personality.
Asriel did have a human sibling, but it was the version of Kris that was from Undertale, but they sadly lose their life...which would be caused by Chara who was part of Asriel's hallucinations, Asriel caused Kris to become deadly sick, and he thought they were Chara.
Kris died and their soul was absorbed by Asriel, but they never left the underground and didn't even leave the throne room...
Flowey doesn't have Schizophrenia but he does believe that Chara was very real, the Chara that the Player/Frisk meets, is but a creation that came from the memories from Asriel's dust and the determination and compassion from Kris's soul.
Chara became no longer a hallucination or split personality, to say they know they weren't originally real could be unknown.
but it could be possible that Chara knows that they had been originally a hallucination and split personality of Asriel.
it’s possible that Asriel from Deltarune, never ended up with Schizophrenia.
Chara could be classified as a imaginary friend of Asriel, who only became separate from him when Asriel had died, it is possible that there needs to be consent for a human and monster soul to fuse, and since Kris of the Undertale World didn’t give Asriel consent, and Asriel might of been hallucinating and saw Kris as Chara during the time when Kris’s soul left their body...
Asriel in his grief for Chara (and not their younger sibling Kris who was really on the bed and had got sick from the flowers.) he absorbed Kris’s soul who he still believed was Chara, but sadly Chara was a split personality of his and even appear before him as a hallucination that only he could see.
the King and Queen did nothing and didn’t think that the split personality that Asriel was aware of, was dangerous and they played along not knowing the danger that would be placed on their adoptive child who was named Kris.
while some of Asriel’s dust became a part of Flowey, the other half became Chara, and that Chara could of placed copies of themself into different alternate timelines where Chara never existed before until the Chara that was once part of Asriel’s split personality had tampered with those different timelines and place clone version of themself into them, but on the surface, unless it was the humans who were put in the underground instead of the monsters.
Frisk might really be Kris, who’s soul ended up back in their body after having their soul absorbed by their older brother.
the reason why Kris or rather Frisk now, hasn’t aged might be because of the bandages that was used on them that has preserving magic.
because of Flowey power of that world, Kris ends up being forgotten but only King Asgore remembers them, if there is a reason why Toriel remembers the other humans that fell, but forgot Kris (or Chara by Asriel/Flowey’s view.)
then there could be a reason why she doesn’t remember Kris, but it might only appear that she had forgot them but really she tries not to think about them or the fact that it was her and Asgore’s fault that they end up in the condition they ended up in, because they couldn’t tell Asriel the truth about Chara.
that Chara wasn’t real and the only one who could see them was Asriel.
humans could have different schizophrenia from monsters, if a monster dies, and had schizophrenia, the memories of what was part of their hallucinations could become real from both the monster’s leftover magic and maybe even by injecting determination into the dust.
Asriel’s memory of Chara became real after his passing, but Asriel could of had his body reform but some of his dust that became part of Flowey and even formed Chara, was not able to reform with him.
if Asriel did come back to life when what was left of his dust reform his body, he might of had to go into hiding as a Riverperson until he went to Deltarune and would kidnap the True-Ralsei of that world, but was stop by Flowey who was trusted by the True-Ralsei to help Kris and Susie.
the reason why “Ralsei” in Chapter 2 looks slightly taller than Kris instead of being the same height as Kris like they were in Chapter 1, and why they have different size feet. might be because that he is not the Ralsei we had traveled with in Chapter 1.
if Flowey or another timeline version of him, did end up in Deltarune, he could of befriended the True-Ralsei, and True-Ralsei knew that Flowey wouldn’t had time to help him escape and he would have to use one of his extra hats and clothes to give to Flowey, and infuse some of his magic into the hat and clothes so Flowey could look like a perfect double of True-Ralsei, so he could switch places with the Other-Ralsei and keep Kris and Susie safe from them.
the Other-Ralsei who might of came from another World, might of been following Kris, Susie and Ralsei/Flowey the whole time.
and once Kris and Susie left for home, the Other-Ralsei trapped Ralsei/Flowey in the card kingdom along with one of the Lancers, while taking half of the subjects and the other Lancers, along with the King to the Castle Town.
and the Other-Ralsei locked the door not only in the dark world, but also it’s counterpart in the light world, so Kris and Susie wouldn’t find out the truth.
I still think it is possible that Lancer might be a Quadruplet, that is why Lancer can appear in different places in Chapter 2 and even still be in Kris’s inventory pocket, it’s because Lancer is a Quadruplet and Lancer’s Dad was too lazy to give his Quadruplet sons different names and overtime forgot he had more than one son.
Flowey doesn’t have Schizophrenia, but his memories that come from Asriel, could make him believe that Chara was real, and well even if the dust, magic and memories of Asriel did end up forming Chara and making them real and Chara could have some determination from Kris/Frisk in them that let’s them keep that form stable...
Flowey might end up in shock from being told by either his Dad or even Alphys who had watched the home videos of Asriel and “Chara”, that Chara wasn’t originally real and was born from Asriel’s mind and was even part of his split personality.
there are some people in real life that can have schizophrenia and even split personality, but it doesn’t mean they would have both at the same time.
the reason why Alphys didn’t want to show Asgore the home videos that has Asriel and Chara in it, is because all it will show is Asriel talking to no one but he is still talking to someone, it is his other personality.
Chara hating humanity, might of been born from Asriel’s  jealousy to their younger sibling Kris, and it was those feeling that became twisted into a hate for humanity that became a part of his other personality who was named Chara.
the two rooms that has the words “room under renovation” might really be Kris’s rooms, like having a Nursery and inside are a crib in the Home in the Ruins, and having a bed in the the New Home.
 Prince Asriel and Prinx Kris could of once shared a room when they lived at New Home, but Asriel wanted to share a room with only Chara, so Kris had to be moved into one of the spare bedrooms that would be the room under renovation.
Asgore and Toriel who were the King and Queen, might of not known that their son had schizophrenia until it was too late and they end up losing both Asriel and Kris.
Asriel never left the underground, and had died from the fusion of his and Kris’s souls not being of consent of both sides.
even if Monsters were to successfully take a Human Soul, in theory if their isn’t true consent on both sides of the fusion of the two souls, then it would end up causing the Monster to die and turn to dust, leaving nothing behind but the fused soul of the monster and human.
it might be a crazy theory, but it could be possible the human child we see in the intro and flash backs, are really Kris and not Chara.
but with the tampering of the timeline and the resets, Chara who was once part of Asriel, made it so that they replaced Kris in some of the memories of everyone who knew them, even Asriel who had already believed Chara was real before the accident that would cause Chara to come to life thanks to Asriel’s dust that held memories of Chara.
Other-Ralsei/Hollow-Asriel who appears in Chapter 2, Flowey and Chara could of been all a part of the Original Prince Asriel, and none of them had ended up with schizophrenia or a split personality.
not everyone has to agree about this theory, and it is possible this theory isn’t canon but what if it does turn out to be true, that Chara was never truly real until being born from the dust of Original Prince Asriel that was left behind.
Chara could be very aware of the truth, that they were once a split personality and even was a hallucination of Asriel.
in theory a monster with schizophrenia might be slightly different, as the visions they see are made up of their own magic that plays inside their head, and they are able to touch and feel the hallucinations because they are part of the magic that makes up their bodies.
both humans and monsters could end up with schizophrenia, but both could have different symptoms from it, and well this is just a theory so please don’t take it the wrong way or misinterpret it, I really don’t like it when others misinterpret my words when it crosses a line, I mean some misinterpretations can be okay so long as they don’t cross a line.
for the misinterpretations that don’t cross a line, they can still be worked out.
anyway maybe I can talk more about this theory another time, once I look up more info that involves it, and I guess it be okay if the theory about Prince Asriel having schizophrenia and split personality turning out to be not true, would be for the best I guess, but please don’t take the theory the wrong way, it is just a theory, and no one has to agree about it being possibly true.
and I will be okay if it turns out the theory turns out to be non-canon.

World Building Wednesday! ~Felldritch
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌼I got a request to do a WBW for Felldritch and since there have been updates to the overall world and lore I wanted to make sure this was all in a nice little package! If you have questions and want to learn more let me know the ask box is always open!  So let's get started! Oh and here is a link to the fic! FELLDRITCH
Felldritch
Classification: HorrorFELL
Cult  Alternate “Nicknames”:
Red: Saw Boss: Corvus
Gaster: Sephtis
Asriel: Saber Toriel: Ameria
Asgore: Kirnon
Undyne: Ryx Alphys: Vesh Muffet: Carmilla Grillby: Noire MTT: Faust
Doggo: Croix
Riverperson: Bastet (Tet)
Tumblr media
Main Plot Synop: Felldritch takes place after a pacifist run by Frisk. The story briefly goes as follows. Frisk ends up in the Underworld (Underground) and befriends the monsters and wants to set them free. It is basically a way watered down version of WTU in essence. Once reaching the end of her journey the monsters refuse to let her be that final soul. They would rather wait and figure out something else but with her Determination she promises to return to them and set them free. At this point in time she is around 18-19. Asriel sacrifices himself to that end to see her leave through the barrier only for the humans to capture the poor girl after she leaves. They conclude that she is not mentally stable due to her insistence that monsters are real and throw her into an asylum/sanitarium to be “treated”. Nearly 5+ years later and she manages to escape finding herself once again in the Underworld only it is far different from what she remembers. At this point, she is questioning whether anything is real or not. After being “treated” for so long she doesn’t quite know which reality is the true one. As Red (aka Saw) points out:
Tumblr media
The Brothers:
Red: The younger brother of the two. His attachment to Frisk stems into more of a relationship though he blames himself for loosing her all those years ago. This psychological state causes him to throw himself into the problem that is befalling their world. At first nothing seems to combat this intrusive forest and horrifying beasts but he learns to utilize his magic in a different way. Prior to this he is what one would think of a a Red type but after meeting Frisk he promises to not only change his heart but also the hearts of others. Instead of destructive magical ability he follows in his brothers footsteps and takes up healing practice.
In the world he is known as the merchant, the one that tends to give out healing items in exchange for coin but the bulk of his business relies on talismans or charms to ward off the evil plaguing their home. As far as they all know these magically infused charms are powerful and have incredible protective capabilities. He runs a wagon that travels around the entire Underworld.
In the current timeline he more sympathetic and empathetic. The concept of Kill or be Killed is no longer a factor. This is mainly about survival and for the most part the other monsters are aware that working together is their best option though their heightened paranoia (validly founded btw) makes it difficult sometimes. His personality is lighthearted on the surface, making jokes, and being a good guy. In a way he reminds me of Jester who tries not to dwell on what is going on but is fully aware of the situation. Red wears a blindfold in public to keep up appearances but he has no vision or eye light problems.
Tumblr media
Boss: After Frisk’s departure from the Underworld, Boss, takes her words to heart. Unlike the majority of Fell Pap characterization he is very soft. When he feels his brother no longer needs his guidance he begins to feel purposeless until he learns that like his brother he has the magical ability for healing. As Red is the charm merchant of the two, Boss is the apothecary. His design harkens to plague doctors back in the 17th century. He grows all his own herbs and spices but he is particularly fond of tea. He also wears a blindfold just like Red but unlike Red he does in fact have damage to his left eye socket where the teal color of his eye lights no longer inhabits.
The two combined help their fellow monsters as much as they can but in a world of uncertainty how are you supposed to know who to trust?
Tumblr media
Frisk’s Mental Demons: The psychological toll on Frisk is great as she has been told constantly that she made up her time in the Underworld in order to shut herself away into a fantasy world. A world where she had a family… where she is loved and wanted. This happens frequently as the “Doctors” continuously try to refute her experiences or sensations medically.  Every time she goes to sleep in the Underworld she ends up back at the Asylum tied down kicking and screaming.
She only wakes up again when she is sedated. Rinse and repeat. The question is… is it real? Or rather which is real. The doctors go on to state that her dark state of mind twisted her original concept behind her “family” making them this eldritch styled horror. He also goes onto explain that the reason she is so drawn and close to Red is that it is her “flirting with death”. That she is accepting that outcome because if she continues to resist treatment she will die and the moment she trusts him in her “fantasy” that will be the end. These kinds of situations happen a lot.
Tumblr media
There are also instances when the lines between real and fiction are blurred as Frisk's behavior consists apparently of defensive aggression, auditory, visual, and olfactory hallucination, acute paranoia, anxiety, and PTSD. One such example of this is her apparent psychiatrist, Dr. Cyrus Reycroft, who happens to have an uncanny resemblance to her skeletal friend if he was human.
The Beasts: Felldritch plays off Eldritch horror aka the fear of the unknown. As Frisk reunites with Red she is subjected to a rather concerning conversation in which he explains the situation they are in. He mentions having crossed into an upside down broken and colorless world which drew both himself and his older brother into. It is implied that the two stepped into a dimensional space that was able to then afflict those within their own dimension. Over time the inhabitants begin to go missing and great otherworldly hellish beasts begin appearing. The inhabitants come to the conclusion that these creatures can not afflict you with their corruption if you can not see, hear, or speak in their presence. This mindset has some rather gruesome implications as inhabitants become irrationally desperate mutilating themselves to adhere to the new "See no evil, Speak no evil, Hear no evil”.
The Occult World: The cult as I keep referring to it as is a group of powerful monsters. After the deposition of the King the other monsters begin to become influenced by outside sources. They begin to believe that any fallen humans are the angels of death and because of this they will kill humans on sight, of course, they want to live in denial of their horrible deeds because monster souls are supposed to be made up of love and kindness. Unlike the cult that wishes to break the barrier, the rest want to stay hidden from the beasts above believing that the humans are to blame for all that has happened.
The senses play a huge roll in this idea as the beasts are rumored to be able to use souls like puppets, as in spys, if they are corrupted. It essentially becomes like a hive mind with the main entity being able to see, hear, and speak through those it comes in contact with. It’s no secret that Red is in fact infected by this entity in some form as this is a quote from the fic:
A set of antlers snagged the velvety cape as he worked the metalwork to release its hold on the material around his throat.
Bony fingers tugged on the bunched up fabric and pulled it back, revealing a charcoal grey sweater underneath. It was soft to the touch but just hidden beneath the wool she caught a glimpse of off white colored bone. There were bits and pieces that had been chipped off, knicks, and cuts. Even before they had met Red had some scars especially around his collarbone but that was not what caused her to gasp. His hood remained over his head as if using it to shield his expression from her view, “See?” He flinched when her fingers traced some of the scars.
She didn’t want to appear like she was fearful of what she was witnessing but her fingers quivered, pulling them back toward herself. A soft whimper of a voice left her, “R...Red…” There intertwined with the magically composed vertebrae of his spine were branches. The same deep blackish red wood that plagued this entire forest. It wove itself through the bone engulfing portions of his ribs, twisting it into chilling patterns. If it was allowed to continue its infestation it would crack his ribcage open in a bloodless gaping fissure. She could just make out that gentle white and crimson glow shrouded by the wood. Was that his soul? There was no other explanation.
It looked like the branches were trying to worm their way toward that glowing heart, pierce it, and absorb it into its oily black, almost pulsating bark. That was only one singular aspect of horror that she was now subjected to. Her eyes followed the trail that crept through the bone following the knots and twists that crept up and underneath where his skull attached to his spine.
The grip that he kept on her hand only tightened while the other shifted to pull the hood off his skull. Her eyes widened, reddish-brown irises wavering within a sea of white. A hand rose to land on her mouth, now agape in a silent gasp. She could see the same strange bark that comprised his antlers exited straight out of his skull. There were fractures that radiated from above the temporal portion of his cranium in concentric circles. The same kind of patterning one would see from blunt force trauma. Only this had pushed out the bone externally rather than internally. His sockets no longer contained those ever dulling carmine eye lights as her own eyes traced the hairline cracks along his head. She could not imagine the kind of pain a transformation like that would have caused him. There were places where the bone had tried to heal and suture itself back together, forming around the bark.
Angel of Salvation (a.k.a. The Eldritch Horror)- What the cult has been working toward is summoning their “savior” with the help of the human souls they are bound to. It gives them extra abilities and power. Each within the ranks is bound to a human soul. Their leader ??? wants to use this power to summon an “angel.” It turns out that is actually an unholy amalgamated eldritch beast/god out for blood instead. Humanity will perish and the monsters will take control of the surface once more. That is the reality. (The cult including Red is told otherwise).

What are your views on UT!Chara? Are they good, neutral, evil (in your opinion) (No need to answer this ask if you do not want to)
hoo boy let me just. you’ve activated a Secret Essay(tm) of mine anon fbdshabl sorry i’ll try to keep it short LMAO
(under a read more just for a) length b) ut spoilers.. even tho im p sure most of you have beaten the game but who knows lol c) uhh Chara’s story is pretty dark so this has mentions of abuse and whatnot so please be aware of that ^^;;)
Morality alignment wise is like. Idk. I’m bad with assigning that half the time because it’s all subjective in a way right oh no my true neutralness surfaces like for example I wouldn’t do something I think is bad right? But someone else might think it’s bad. (Like my 16 yr old self might consider me today a terrible person just bc I like Undertale lol 16 yr old me is rude don’t listen to them) If I were to put them on a kind of DnD like alignment scale though, I think I would probably put them in a lawful neutral kind of alignment, maybe leaning a bit towards lawful evil.
But here’s the thing. Without Chara having any sort of backstory as to why they hate humans? It’s very hard for me to gauge where their motivation lies for the things that they did. Based off of what Asriel tells you when you talk to him in the Ruins, the genocide route, and the bits of narration we have, we can pretty much assume:
- Chara was pretty abusive, this is undeniably a fact even from just watching the videos in the True Lab; and while Asriel recognizes this, he didn’t want to lose them because they were the only one he felt close to. Which is likely part of the abuse they dealt by making him feel alone without them. - Chara hated humanity for reasons they would not disclose to Asriel, but it’s pretty implied that they attempted to commit suicide by jumping into Mt. Ebott. This could mean that they were abused in their past, which could in turn provide reason for their abusive nature (because, with Chara being a child, it’s very likely that they took in the personalities of those around them to make their own person up. Even though they were hurting, they didn’t exactly know why, and even still, many people with an abusive history that end up abusive themselves might not even recognize that they’re being abusive, which might be the case for Chara as well.) - Chara probably cared for Asriel. There’s a lot of things to indicate that they may have faked it or maybe it seems like they didn’t by their abusive nature towards Asriel, but it’s unlikely that Chara would fake caring about someone. If they jumped off the side of a mountain because they hated the people they were around so much, there’s very little reason for them to pretend they liked someone at the potential expense of their own happiness. More likely than not, Chara desperately wanted to keep Asriel close, but ended up being really controlling in an attempt to keep him close. Additionally, when you hug Asriel at the end of the True Pacifist route, the line “Hah... I don’t want to let go...” is said by the narrator, indicating it may have been Chara who said it. But considering how Sans also has lines that are spoken silently and in the default font, this may not be entirely accurate.  - Imma go off for a second about genocide because i have a pet peeve about when people suddenly decide that Chara is the one that caused it. This doesn’t make any sense -- but at the same time, with little to no games considering the Player and Player-Insert character to be two seperate characters, it’s no surprise to me that people i guess “projected” onto Chara. However, if you seperate the player from Frisk (in the same manner that Kris and the Player are seperate in Deltarune), it becomes easier to understand. Chara had nothing against the monsters. They liked monsterkind. It’s extremely unlikely that they would have the motivation to kill all of the monsters on their own. This wasn’t created until far into the genocide route, where the player has done most of the work for them. Chara is now living on pure Determination, which as we know is void of care and purely puts a person on a path of achieving their last desire, and once they wake up like this, with most of monsterkind already dead... well, what else is there to live for? They already attempted to kill humanity, failed, and now the only people they treasured have fallen like flies. Nothing matters in this world. Might as well delete the whole thing to finish the job. (also Frisk doesn’t have any motivations of their own either... unlike Kris they are shown to have no specific motivations (that i’m aware of?) one way or another and don’t reject the player ever so the idea that a canon frisk would reject the genocide route doesn’t make sense to me either. obvs au’s are exempt because they’re free real estate lmao anyway this is unrelated) - Chara’s a very calculated and observent person as well -- just look at how they died? They weren’t even afraid of death. They poisoned themselves with full faith that Asriel would take their Soul and bring them back to life (which also goes back to my point about how much Chara cared for Asriel, since, if they didn’t trust him, they would not have left him with that huge responsibility) by absorbing their Soul into his own body so they could exist as one. Chara saw their death as a stepping stone in their plan. All this from just seeing Asgore accidentally eat buttercups once and getting sick. A whole plan to get revenge on the people who hurt them from that. They even made a statement about wanting to be placed back on the Surface just to cover Asriel’s ass when he eventually took Chara on his own to the Surface. - okay this is probably just more of a me thing, but I’ve never gotten the whole “Chara hates Sans” concept. But considering I also don’t really think of Chara as the one who attempted the genocide route, I guess it makes sense. Chara probably doesn’t care about Sans one way or another, really, and Sans probably has very little idea who Chara is. I’ve always seen Sans’s statements during his battle said directly towards the Player, more or less using Frisk as the messenger -- like, for example (yes I have this on hand don’t judge me):
“sounds strange, but before this i was secretly hoping we could be friends. i always thought the anomaly was doing this because they were unhappy. and when they got what they wanted, they would stop all this. and maybe all they needed was. i dunno. some good foods, some bad laughs, some nice friends. but that’s ridiculous, right? yeah. you’re the type of person who won’t EVER be happy.”
- (cont) At this point it sort of taps into something I was gonna write for that Sans essay but here we go. I bolded “the anomaly” because this is the point where he directly refers to the player as their own individual in the game. What’s the only thing that’s different between Undertale and any moments of his life previous? The player. Hence, anomaly. Even Chara would have existed before the player showed up, right? Chara fell sometime within the 2010′s according to the opening of the game, and in between that time and when Frisk showed up, 6 other humans fell into the Underground. Clearly none of them had the same powers Frisk did, because otherwise, they would have not died and left their Soul behind for Asgore to use. That leaves one thing different -- player interference. Chara even directly states that the player is the one who woke them up with Determination, meaning they were asleep (or dead) for every year previous to their arrival. Sans probably only knows them as “the first human” like every other monster in the Underground (aside from the Dreemurs, of course).
i could probably go on for a while. but i will save you the time you probably didn’t want to spend reading this already by shutting up fdbshafb

New In Town Ch 2: Some Things Are Universal
Once again, I suggest reading the original on AO3.
Summary: Rudy's first day working for Asgore, featuring a brief appearance by Kris and special guest star Comedian Dad.
After breakfast, I decide to go down to Flower King and tell Asgore I'll accept his job offer. He is once again watering the flowers, and I begin to wonder if plants really need this much water. Maybe that's why everything I've tried growing dies. Then again, I do know that overwatering is also possible, but that's really about the extent of my knowledge when it comes to plant care. Asgore's the expert here, so I won't question his judgment.
When he turns to greet me, he once again seems caught off guard. This time, however, his look is that of pleasant surprise. "Oh! I take it you've made up your mind?"
Am I that easy to read? Or would he have sounded so hopeful even if I had been coming to tell him I'd found work elsewhere?
"Yes, as a matter of fact," I say. "I've decided I'll take you up on your offer."
"Excellent! Why don't you keep an eye on the store for a bit? I need to go pick up some more supplies."
Really? I haven't even been here 5 minutes, and he's going to leave me by myself? "Wait! I don't even know what to do. I don't really know anything about selling flowers."
"Don't worry! It's usually pretty slow. If anyone comes in, just follow your instincts. Find something you think they'll like, and give them that. If you still need help, here's my cellphone. I shouldn't be gone for very long."
"Okay," I say hesitantly. I guess I should be glad he already trusts me this much. After he leaves, I realize we haven't even discussed my pay. That seems like something better discussed in person, so I decide to wait until he returns.
---
Asgore is right; it's very slow. Several minutes go past, and there doesn't even seem to be anyone outside the store, let alone in it. I decide to sweep up, maybe straighten a few of the displays, when a customer finally enters. It's an older looking, blue and white bird monster.
"Hey! You're new heah! Where's the othah guy?" the bespectacled bird says.
"Oh, Asgore had to get some more supplies. I'm his new... assistant?" I actually have no idea what my title is. I guess that's something else I'll need to ask him about. "How can I help you today?"
"I was lookin' to buy some flowahs for my wife's grave. Whaddya got?"
"Oh, my condolences. Let's see what we can find." I begin to look through the arrangements Asgore has already made, but nothing catches my eye. Suddenly, I notice a bouquet of white and pale blue flowers, with a few light pink carnations mixed in as accents. I think they're carnations, at least. Have I mentioned I don't really know anything about flowers?
If I were to make some sort of abstract flower art of this bird, this bouquet would probably be the result. The colors are a near-perfect match; I actually hope he doesn't find it too vain. The flowers are for his late wife, after all, not him. "How's this?" I ask.
"Oh, those are wondahful. My wife, she would love 'em. I'll take 'em."
Wow, maybe this is easier than I thought. I move over to the register, then I realize I spoke too soon. None of these flowers have prices on them. "One second, please," I tell my first customer. "I'm not sure how much these cost."
"I guess that means they're free, hahaha!" Some things are universal, I suppose.
I stifle myself from sarcastically telling the customer he should be a comedian before I call Asgore, but he there's no response. Well, he has to have a price list somewhere, or at least an invoice or something so I can know if I'm selling them above cost. I decide to look upstairs.
Huh, I didn't realize he actually lived here. He doesn't seem to have much of an office, though. There's really not much to look through, but I do find something. To my shock, however, it's a note from his landlord demanding that Asgore start selling flowers in lieu of giving them away. I push down my feelings of betrayal for now and decide I'll just have to make up a price.
I don't think I've ever even bought flowers before, so I have no idea what they typically cost. "How's, uh, 50G sound?" I ask. Whatever confidence I had has evaporated as quickly as it came.
"50 bucks and the flowahs? Wow, what a bahgain!"
This time, I give him a sarcastic laugh. "No, really. 50G. Does that sound like a fair price?"
"Listen, kid. I know you're new heah, so I'll cut ya some slack, but I've been coming heah a long time. Asgoah, he's a good friend of mine. An old friend. I'm not pullin' your leg when I say he usually gives 'em to me for free."
"I believe you. But, let me tell you a secret. Don't tell him I said this, but money's a little tight right now. Now, I'd think if you really were good friends with Asgore, you'd want to help him out, right? Isn't that what friends do? I know I'm not your friend, not yet, but how about I cut you a deal? What would you say to 40G?"
"I'd say, 'Hey, you look lonesome. How's about movin' into my wallet?'" He laughs uproariously at his own joke. Even though he's really starting to get on my nerves, I give him a little chuckle, too.
"Does that sound like a deal?" I ask.
"35G sounds even bettah," he replies.
I really have no idea what any of this stuff costs, but 35G sounds way too low to me. "Look, I really don't think I can go lower than 40G. Any lower than that, and we're losing money." Is it still lying if you think it might actually be true?
"Okay, okay, you drive a hahd bahgain, kid. 40G it is."
"Thank you, sir! Have a great day!" I say as I put the money into the otherwise empty cash register. I'm really going to have to have a long talk with Asgore when he gets back. When is he getting back, anyway? He said he wouldn't be very long, but it's already been nearly an hour and a half.
"You, too, kid," the widower replies. "You're alright, y'know? For a human." I decide to ignore that last part.
---
Finally, Asgore returns. "I'm sorry, that took much longer than I expected. I trust you didn't run into any trouble while I was away?"
"Well, a little bit, but it was nothing I couldn't handle. Oh, I thought of a few questions for you while you were out."
"Oh? I'm all ears."
"First of all, where are the prices for any of these? I looked around, but I couldn't find anything to help. There was only one customer while you were out, but I had to just make up a price, so I ended up charging him 40G. I hope that's not too low."
Asgore gives me a shocked look. "Too low?" he asks. He sounds calm, but I think I detect a slight tinge of anger in his voice. "Too low? Why, I don't think I could ever charge my friends that high of a price. Did I not set the example by giving you your flowers free of charge? Do you think I should have sold them to you instead?"
"Look, I don't wanna sound ungrateful or anything, but, yeah, I was absolutely expecting to pay for the flowers. Because that's what most businesses do: they sell their products. I didn't realize—again, I really appreciate that you gave me the flowers for free—but I didn't realize you were in the habit of doing so."
"I see..."
"That actually brings me to my next question. When I was looking for the prices, I saw the note. From the landlord."
"Oh..." is all Asgore says.
"If you aren't making any money here, how were you going to pay me? Were you expecting me to work for free?"
"No, no, of course not," he stammers. "I, well, I suppose I kind of rushed into hiring you, didn't I? I've always been a man of my word, doing my best to keep my promises. I believe that's the right thing to do. But what are you supposed to do when a promise you've made contradicts a promise to someone else?" He lets out a sigh before continuing.
"This shop has been a lifelong dream of mine, which is saying something considering how long I've lived. You asked me how much these flowers go for. The truth is, 40G is definitely on the low side. Sure, the grocery stores in Twin Falls might sell flowers for even less, but a shop like mine? I could probably get away with charging five times as much. I didn't want to do that. I didn't want to keep giving them away for free, either, but then I developed a reputation for it, and I didn't want to let anyone down. Obviously, I failed.
"I may not have let my customers down, but I let down everyone else. I let down C, but, more importantly, I let down my family. I'm a failure."
"Hey, don't be too hard on yourself," I say. "People love your flowers, don't they? And I just proved that they'll pay for them. And they'll pay for them because they love you. We can figure something out."
"You're right. I just need to stay determined. I shouldn't have any problem coming up with 8000G by the end of the month."
My jaw drops. "8000G? That's with the past months' rent, too, right?"
"No, that's how much I'm supposed to pay each month. It takes a lot of water and electricity to grow all these flowers, and C says this is prime real estate. I guess I will have to pay the past months' rent, as well. Let's see, that'd be about 40,000G altogether. Golly, I sure hope C isn't charging interest on that."
"I hope so, too," I say, weakly.
8000G just for one month. If Asgore's right, and the townspeople are willing to pay 200G for his bouquets, then that means we should only have to sell 40 to cover the rent. That should be no problem in what seems to be a town with a population of 15. (I'm being sarcastic here, if that wasn't obvious.)
---
Around lunchtime, Asgore's child stops by. From what little I can see of their face, they seem faintly surprised to see me, maybe slightly amused, too. "Hey, Kris," I say, awkwardly, "how's it going?"
They give me a terse, "Alright." There's a pause, and I get the sense that neither one of us is terribly great at small talk. "Is Asgore around?" they ask.
"Oh, um, I think he's in the back. Do you want me to get him for you?"
"No, I'll wait."
"Okay," I reply. The silence is nearly palpable. I try to break it. "So, uh, how's... school?"
"Okay." I can tell from their tone that they aren't really interested in talking to me. I would have thought the only two humans in town would have bonded more easily, but that doesn't seem to be the case. "How's not getting paid?"
I bite my tongue while reminding myself that they're a teenager. They're practically purpose-built to get under your skin. I suppose I should see it as a small victory that they're even engaging me in conversation at all, even if it is just to antagonize me. "It's not all it's cracked up to be," I say.
Then, inspiration strikes. "You know, Kris, maybe you could help out. If you're not too busy with school, maybe you could make some flyers for your dad's shop. 'Flowers for any occasion, or no occasion at all!' or something like that."
"Why would you want my help?" they retort. "You should ask my brother, Asriel. He's the perfect one. He's gonna save the world, so why not save a flower shop while he's at it?" Their words drip with hostility. "And I'm busy, anyway."
"Alright, forget I asked," I say. "I'm gonna go find Asgore now."
"Don't bother. I'll see him later." They turn to leave.
Out of customer service habit, I tell them to have a great day, but that strikes me as inappropriate, somehow. Part of me thinks it might be worthwhile to have Asgore reach out to his older son for help, but then I realize that would likely only worsen tensions with Kris.
Another part of me ponders asking Asgore if I can be a delivery driver instead, but I can already see the scenario unfolding: I deliver flowers to that comedian from earlier, and wait patiently for him to give me my tip, only for him to say, "Here's a tip: stay in school," leaving me to meekly tell him I have a bachelor's degree and walk away empty-handed. What was it Asgore told himself? I just need to stay determined. This will work out.
[If you enjoyed reading this, please consider reblogging, or even just replying to say what you liked or didn’t like or what you hope happens next. I’m not promising anything, but it’s really hard to stay motivated to work on this when there’s hardly any feedback.]

Alaska waddled up over to the stage, papers clutched in hand as he cordially walked out onto the podium. He slipped the papers onto the glass stand and waited for the chatter to quiet down.
Alaska loved his little public declarations. Seeing the thousands of adoring subjects looking to him for guidance, to be led in the right direction. He felt satisfied with his position ever since he had heard just how his leadership had benefitted so many, therefore he’d felt the power go to his head (however, in the lightest, most positive sense of the term).
His smile lasted as cameras were pointed at him, the television screens of the underground being bathed in their glory. Attention clearly roused Alaska. It gave him the first rush of energy to enthusiastically start his prepared speech.
He’s always started his speeches with a preamble and reminder of the Underground’s history.
“Monsterkind, a race of people determined to push forward no matter the odds. Our hardships and battles have made us a stronger people. Our sustained progress and thriving culture proving we are all a flame not to die out in the wettest of waterfalls and coldest of snowstorms. We, as one, are an everlasting beacon of hope that will shine into space, despite the mountain as our roof. I, as the king, would like to remind you all how proud I am of every monster, big and small.” He spoke cordially, grinning as he saw those in their seats beam from the praise.
“I am and will forever speak these truths, the ones informed by history, science, nature, and our culture. In the recent months, I am proud to say our royal board of science has relentlessly worked towards bettering our understandings of the souls, our bodies, our metabolisms, and the very nature of ourselves. I advise everyone to listen, as, after all, it applies to us all.” Alaska seemed to get more excited, especially near the end as he seemed to tip-toe from excitement as he neared his favorite part.
“Java Script, the lead food scientist has stated, quote, ‘Obesity is proven to be, inherently, a human issue. Monsters’ bodies, components of magic, respond to adipose tissue and lipids differently than humans. Monster biology is simply different. This therefore implies that, as humans may be different, we need not listen to their cultural and biological assumptions. In fact, for the safety and merriment of Monsterkind, the inverse is said to be true....” He spoke, taking a sip of soda from the cup to the side of him and clearing his throat.
“‘...And to summarize, this means that it would be beneficial to reverse this stigma, and eliminate human influence on the way we see ourselves and our bodies. In simplest terms, you should treat yourself the way you would like. The fat inside our own bodies is shown to instead be quite beneficial to us, and remnants of human society’s body-shaming should be ignored.’ End quote.”
Alaska took a deep, content breath, turning to the next page. “So, these revolutionary findings have brought unto us information that is widely revolutionary. I am glad to instate a new government initiative, one to promote the welfare of the Underground from now on! This initiative, the “Bulk In Gratitude”, “B.I.G. Program” aims to change our culture for the better. This will provide extra funding to our schools, lunch programs, food banks, and subsidize produce in order to encourage the betterment of monster fitness.” He recited, soul beating fast and enthusiastic as he was met with thunderous applause. He let the excitement die down marginally before he moved to his concluding remark.
“In conclusion, I aim to create a stronger, friendlier underground for this generation and those to come. That is why, to unify as a strong and hopeful people, we must join together and grow, both figuratively and, most importantly, physically. Thank you everyone.”
Asgore couldn’t stop beaming as the praise from the underground intensified. He was so caught up in his pride and leadership he just HAD to sneak in one last thing.
“Therefore, all I would like to say is... Bigger is better.” He said, the words making their way out like butter down the surface of an uneven stack of pancakes.
The crowd went nuts over it, and Alaska was left tossing candy in bulk to his adoring crowd. Alaska was truly happy with this development.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
((Broadcasted and ranked as the most viewed video in the underground, King Alaska's speech set in motion a new era of progression for the underground; one that would, as he said, grow his fellow monsters in more ways than one.))
Undyne Headcanons
UNDERTALE
- After Undyne’s parents died when she was young, she became determined to get justice for al monsters who had to die without seeing the surface. She went to Asgore to fight him so she could get into the Royal Guard, but instead Asgore trained her. It wasn’t long before she felt like a daughter to him. It warmed his broken heart. Many years passed before he finally let Undyne into the Guard. As the king expected, she quickly climbed up the ranks into captain.
- Undyne and Papyrus’s friendship is full of sarcasm and weird jokes (like that time in canon where they joked about spider-ducks); a typical offbeat humor. They also get into weird competitions with each other, like who can drink 8 glasses of milk fastest, and who can leave the biggest splatter by smashing tomatoes. Watching their chaos is... an experience.
- Undyne is her students' favorite teacher. Most consider her gym class awesome. Obstacle courses, extreme dodgeball, bench pressing the students. The kiddos, humans and monsters alike, have a blast. (Even thought she's not so good at the whole grading thing.)
- Even on the surface, where Undyne has proper recipes, she's still a terrible cook. At least her house isn't always on fire, though. Unfortunately, Alphys is also a terrible cook. She can only manage noodles and take-out. After a few months of this awful diet, they both agreed to take cooking lessons. It went swimmingly!! ...Yeah, they got kicked out after 3 classes. Undyne only barely managed to reign in her chaotic nature enough to learn how to make a salad and boil water with burning her house down.
- Owns a bunch of giant swords on the surface --- Swears like a sailor --- Hated nerdy stuff as a kid, but now is super supportive about it --- Blushes and gets a dreamy look on her face every time Alphys is mentioned; Even when they’ve been married for 20 years lol
UNDERSWAP
- She’s timid when Chara first meets them, but by the end of their journey, her passionate side really shines through. It just takes a bit for her to come out of her shell. But once she’s herself, it’s very clear how passionate and exuberant Undyne can be! Mostly about science, anime, and Alphys lol.
- Met Alphys at the dump. Undyne was looking for spare parts for her experiments when she spotted Alphys. The dino was staring at the waterfalls, contemplating her decision to be captain of the guard. Alphys never really wanted to hurt humans but she did want to free everyone, so it was a difficult decision for her. Noticing the other’s sadness, Undyne nervously introduced herself to snap Alph out of her reverie. They quickly became fast friends (and fell in love huehuehue)
- Experiments tend to go a little haywire when she’s really excited (and by haywire, i mean... explosion-inducing.) There are permanent burn marks on the walls of her lab. She doesn’t bother to clean them off anymore, not when they appear so often.
- Even more affected by the amalgamates than UT Alphys. Undyne truly thought she had saved everyone; she was so proud! But when she saw what the aftermath, she was devastated. The scientist never thought about her reputation, only how horribly she ruined them, how much pain she caused for them and their families. It was unbearable, knowing she was causing so much suffering. So Undyne hid them, not because she was worried of how people would think of her, but to prevent their families from seeing how devastated their loved ones had become. Chara reminded her, though, that she was just causing more suffering by making those families never know what had occurred.
- Undyne has been friends with Papyrus since they were kids. Shortly before he graduated, she got him an apprenticeship with the royal scientist. And even when he quit, they stayed friends, and often cook up explode-y experiments together. Both of them are still horrible cooks. ‘Dyne also has him join her to watch anime together. Pap isn’t as invested as she is, but he likes it well enough.
- Meme illiterate --- Loves side scroller games --- Can’t cook to save her life --- Plays piano for Chara when they first meet --- Met Napstablook at their cousin’s human fan club meeting. NTT felt guilty when they started distancing themself from her after they got famous, but the more time went on, the more awkward it would be if they returned, so they just.. never did... sorry...
UNDERFELL
- Papyrus is Undyne’s second-in-command and best friend. Neither of them will ever admit it, but they wouldn’t trade each other’s friendship for the world. And more so, they’re just chaotic goofballs a lot of the time. Normally Pap can calm Undyne’s hectic nature, but once she convinces him to join her mischievous plans, they are an unstoppable force of nature.
- Oddly enough, for being so chaotic and destructive, Undyne avoids fighting people as much as possible. She’ll always choose verbally de-escalating a confrontation over physically fighting any day of the week. Not because she’s a weak fighter, (no, if anything Undyne’s the strongest opponent you could ever face, second to Sans) but because she wants to minimize the bloodshed. The captain hates seeing her race at each other’s throats; it’s heartbreaking. So when it comes to monsters, she will always choose the most peaceful option until she has no other choice.
- When it comes to humans, though... ohohoho Undyne is merciless. She doesn’t even give the human the chance to run away. Frisk can’t beat her, all they can do is survive as long as possible. That is, until Pap shows up and distracts undyne while Frisk escapes. (Pap loves protecting helpless creatures, and Frisk was just too cute of a kid to let Undyne slaughter them). From there it proceeded like in canon UT: the human and Pap ran away to Hotland until Undyne passed out from the heat. Frisk stopped and gave her some water before the fish lady was revived, glared at them, and stomped back home.
- From there on, Frisk befriends her the same way as UT, except Papyrus doesn’t insist on hanging out with Undyne. In fact, he urges the human not to, but Frisk decides to go back and talk with her anyway. Pap tags along only to protect frisk! Definitely not to make up with Undyne. The hang out progressed as normal (just with ‘Dyne being a little more destructive and ranting about Paps’ betrayal for a bit), and she and Pap call up Frisk often with their usual snarky banter.
- Probably sets her house on fire on purpose. Why wait for the fire to come to her, when she can get one leg up on the fire!! Oh no... now she’s literally trying to fistfight her burning house. Can someone get a fire extinguisher!? Additionally, everything she cooks ends up on fire. Boils water? Fire. Makes a salad? Fire. Looks at a box of cereal? Fire. She’s like a Sim.
- Always gives the guard dogs pets --- Swears all the time and super crass. She doesn’t even censor herself around Frisk --- Wears her hair in a bun to prevent enemies from grabbing it during battle --- Has a very obvious crush on Alphys. Always gets shy and blushy when she talks about her. Pap teases her about it constantly
SWAPFELL
- Met Papyrus when he applied for an apprenticeship with the other Royal Scientist. The two of them quickly became fast friends: science-y, anime-loving nerds. But when Undyne started the DT experiments, Pap left. He could not in good faith sit back and watch her play god with people’s souls. They had a huge argument before he stormed out and they haven’t talked since.
- Over the course of Chara’s journey, as they have phone calls with Papyrus, and eventually Undyne, the two of them slowly begin talking things out. And by the end of the true pacifist route Pap and ‘Dyne have reconciliated and are friends again. It’s truly heartwarming!
- Rumors claim that Undyne is some kind of horrible mad scientist. Screams and shrieks are often heard emanating from the lab, surely awful and painful experiments are going on. But nobody dares go near the lab to investigate, fearing their lives... but NOPE! it’s just Undyne’s shocked wails at dramatic plot twists in her animes, and the sadness of particularly brutal scenes. Chara was terrified they met her, believing all those rumors. imagine their relief when they found out she’s just a nerd.
- Has the same motivations as US Undyne when it comes to the amalgamates, but SF ‘Dyne also hid them to try and fix them. Do more research, more experiments, anything to undo what happened! But none of it worked, so she just gave up...
- She is very curt when you first meet her, but it’s not long before that stony exterior melts away to reveal Undyne’s true form: a chaotic and excitable nerd with access to highly dangerous chemicals and explosives! ‘Dyne’s not crazy, she’s just really passionate and reckless about the things she loves.
- Loves how strong Alphys is. It’s the coolest! (But they both think they’re each the protector in their relationship lol) --- Created NTT to kill humans, but they just ignored her after she made their body, and left to pursue music instead. How rude! --- Adores vocaloid songs! Her favorite is “Paradichlorobenzene.” She even learned to play it on her piano! --- Addicted to coffee. She is VERY hyper at times. --- Tends to prefer darker animes but she secretly loves Mew Mew Kissy Cutie. No one can find out. Or else.
Chara Headcanon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember that Chara would have easily been able to RESET after their death, as they possessed a determination SOUL. But they didn’t. Not before you kill everyone, they even CONSIDER a RESET. They instead prefer staying DEAD (possibly so Asgore will keep collecting souls and save monster kind).
Chara may be mean but unless you start the genocide, they NEVER suggest killing anyone.
Life on the Surface. At the age of 8-10, Chara climbed Mt Ebott. Legends said they would never return. It's possible that Chara got bullied. Their parents didn't care enough or perhaps they were already dead. When the child looked down a hole that would surely kill them if they fell down, Chara considered suicide. They refused but tripped and fell down. They didn't really want to die, so they called out for help. Called for someone on the surface... and then Asriel appeared.
Life in the Underground. After being adopted by the Dreemurrs, Chara surely experienced a happy childhood. They loved their family, knitted a sweater for their dad and ate the snail pie that Toriel made until they actually got used to the taste. Asgore noticed how much Chara loved the Golden Flowers, so he decided to show them how to take care of a garden. It is likely that Chara had a very good relationship with their dad so they even wanted to bake a pie for him. Still being inexperienced, Chara mistook „cups of butter“ for „buttercups“ and made Asgore very sick. They were unaware that buttercups were poisonous but still felt guilty. They laughed it off, trying to hide it (a very common theme for Chara and for other UT characters). Later Chara managed to make friends with other monsters like Snowdrake. They loved toys (and seem to be less mature than Frisk) and watched Anime (which is the reason they know what a „Tsundere“ is). But Chara still decided to read and gain more knowledge (given by their large vocabulary), hoping to never make that mistake ever again.
Suicide attempts. At some point, there was a change in this behavior. It is possible that Asgore and Toriel didn't tell Chara right away how the monsters were trapped Underground or that it was still a consequence from the buttercup-incident. Either way, after hearing about the war of humans and monsters, Chara hated humanity more than ever before. Usually, someone would call a horrible person a „monster“ so instead Chara called them „demons“. Chara wanted to make up for everything and thought they were the only ones who could do it. They wanted to sacrifice themselves but after possibly a failed suicide attempt, the Dreemurrs hid away all sharp and pointed objects, including knives. Chara hid what could be called another depression with a smile. A forced and unreal one, seemingly creepy. After some time Chara got better and often used this smile as a joke.
The plan. Chara's birthday/anniversary would soon arrive. Toriel and Asgore started to trust Chara a little more with tools, so they decided to give them a worn dagger which would be perfect for cutting plants and vines. Asriel got Chara a heart locket. Meanwhile, Chara and Asriel had a plan. Chara would eat the buttercups. After Chara died and their soul would appear, Asriel was supposed to absorb their soul. Asriel wasn't really fond of that plan. He was fully aware of having to kill six humans and was okay with it after everything he had heard from Chara about their race. The only thing that Asriel really didn't want was losing Chara. But Chara was okay with that! As long as no other family member would have to suffer.
Back on the Surface. Neither Asriel nor Chara knew that power would be split between them. It is still unclear to me why exactly Chara picked up their own body and carried it to the Surface, though it's possible they didn't want to upset Toriel and Asgore too much or perhaps Chara was in something like a state of trance. Still confused about what was happening, just picking up the body in front of them and carrying it to a bed of Golden Flowers. After that Chara either planned to kill 6 random innocent people (like Undyne when she tried to kill a human for the greater good) or 6 specific people (people who would deserve it, their bullies or parents for example). The humans saw Asriel together with the dead body of a child. They were frightened and attacked out of fear, not hatred. They didn't intend to be evil and Asriel could see that. Chara demanded to kill those people, to save Asriel. Asriel refused. He picked up Chara's body, feeling that his sibling should have a proper burial, and went back to the castle, then collapsed in the throne room where his dust spread together with the seeds of the Golden Flowers.
Aftermath. Asgore declared war against humanity. Shocked by his actions, Toriel left him and took Chara's body with her. In the ruins, she buried the child. The seeds stuck to Chara's body later let Golden Flowers grow. Meanwhile, Gaster created the core, taking Chara's soul as the power source. A red, determination soul.
Many years later. Confused. Guilty. A disappointment... to everyone. Another human child falls down into the Underground. This time, however, it's a child with a red determination soul – just like Chara's. The fall of the human child woke Chara up from their slumber. Through determination and with the help of the core, Chara is able to follow you. Everywhere where the light shines that is powered by the core, you can hear Chara's voice but can't see their body. On a side note, Chara is the one naming the soundtracks.
Pacifist. On this run, Chara stays rather optimistic. They give you advice, translate monsters' dialogue and on top of that you are giving them a chance to grow with every ACTion you take. But they still feel guilty for what happened in the past. They make puns (like Sans) and sometimes even laugh. I am still unsure if it is just a part of their personality or if they are hiding something (a depression perhaps). But with your guidance, Chara sees that even humans can be good. They see that you should live for someone instead of dying for them. In the final battle, you can save Chara. In return, Chara helps you to save Asriel. And after everything is done, Chara stays in the Underground just like Asriel.
Genocide. On this run, Chara becomes pessimistic even after you have only killed a single monster. After killing more than 20 monsters, they seem to become sadistic. Looking at the dog food in Alphy's lab, they are reminded of the dogs you killed, at the same time Chara laughs. But it is also possible that Chara hides the pain they feel at this moment by laughing it off. After just getting killed by cruel humans, you show them that they were right from the very beginning. And when you reach the end of the battle with Sans and are trapped in his special attack, Chara hopes that this is it and perhaps the genocide will end. But they are wrong. You still manage to pull your weapon and attack. Nothing will end before it's over, so Chara makes it end by force and kills Sans. After watching Asgore die, you have the choice. Restart the game or kill Flowey. If you decide to kill Flowey, Chara will strike like a total maniac until they are sure Flowey is dead.
The end. When you meet Chara in the end, they are smiling. They call themselves a „demon“ - Their self-esteem dropped to zero. And when you decide not to erase the world, despite already having destroyed it, Chara will hate you more than anything else. The world is not worth living anymore. But in Chara's opinion, you are sick. They were already planning to destroy the world before they asked you to do it, so they say „Since when were you the one in control?“. In the end, it is justice. Killing a sick murderer.
A new pacifist run. If you play another pacifist run, Chara gets mad at you. After all, why would someone who has killed everyone still get a happy ending with their victims? After selling your soul, Chara is able to take over control even after leaving the Underground. This way they can remind you every day if what you have done. Not by killing someone but by showing it to you.
Of course, I probably forgot some stuff. If there are any other Chara supporters, let me know if there's anything to add!
More Than Meets The Eye
 Note: This isn’t canon to the storyline with Gaster and the Human. Just think of this as an alternate timeline. Anyway, onto the fic!
Handplates belongs: @zarla-s
Inspired by: @randomstuff7739‘s post about Yandere! Handplates!Gaster.
Summary: Gaster has been acting strange lately. Is this really the best ending for the Human?
     The Human had noticed it, even if Gaster tried really hard to hide it. They may have been naive but they weren’t completely clueless. They had seen him sneaking weird looks at them when he thought the Human wasn’t looking. That was already strange enough behavior by itself but what happened earlier really confused them.
     Gaster had been wanting to spend more time, almost every moment it seemed, with them so the two of them were alone talking in his work room. The Human was telling him bad jokes and he would slightly chuckle at them while running his fingers through their hair. The mood between them seemed relaxed at first. That is until the Human asked him about Asgore and Alphys.
    “*You ask Gaster how Alphys and Asgore are doing.” ‘*He grows eerily quiet...”
     The tension grew thicker as the long, awkward silence dragged on. Gaster’s facial expression was hard to read but the Human could tell he wasn’t too happy with the question. They tried to get his attention by calling his name but he was too deep in his own thoughts. The Human decided to give Gaster a kiss and pet him to snap him out of it. It must have worked since he stiffened at the pet before tapping his skull against theirs a bit too forcefully.
    “Hmm, sorry, Human. I must’ve daydreamed all of a sudden.~ Did you say something?~”
    “*You repeat your question.” ‘*He gives you a long stare.”
    “I’m not sure why you’re so worried about them, Human.~ It’s not like you’ll be meeting those two anytime soon, so why bother?~”
     The Human blinked in surprise by his tone of voice. He’s usually more willing to talk about his king and co-worker than this. When they asked if he was alright, he insisted he was fine. He finally took them back to the cells with the excuse that he had work to do. Perplexed by his attitude, the Human decided to see if the brothers knew anything.
    “*You ask the brothers if Gaster’s been acting strange lately.”
     The Human was currently playing with the Rubik’s Cube with the brothers. As far as they knew, Gaster was busy working in his office at the moment. Their concerns weren’t exactly put at ease when they noticed the brothers giving each other a worried look.
    “UM, WELL, I’M NOT SURE WE’RE SUPPOSE TO TELL YOU BUT...”
    “instead of doing tests like he tells you we’re doing, he’s actually mostly talking about you...”
     While the brothers listed off all the things Gaster had said about them, the Human was lost in thought. Gaster giving them small compliments now and then was nothing new so, no surprise there. But for him to actually lie to them just to hide it? That was unexpected and out of character for Gaster. The Human needed to confront him about this.
    “*You tell the brothers you’ll be right back.” ‘*They give you a nod before going back to playing.’
     The Human got up from the table and walked down the hall towards the work room. Not bothering to knock, they went in just as Gaster was finishing up a phone call.
    “Yes, sorry I can’t make it, Alphys.~ Something...urgent just came up.~ I’ll call you back later.~”
     Without even saying goodbye, Gaster hung up and noticed the Human standing there. They noted that he looked a bit too ecstatic to see them than they were used to. He walked over to them and placed a hand firmly on their shoulder. Just as the Human was about to speak, he interrupted them.
    “Ah, Human.~ I was just about to come get you.~ I need to ask you something.~”
    ‘*You start to say something but he continues talking...’
    “I,,,I wanted to ask you to join me for tea later today.~ You know, a date of some sorts-”
     The Human's mind went completely blank when Gaster asked this. They couldn’t help but blush at his invite. The Human of course accepted and left the room, unaware of the crazed look Gaster had.
(Some Time Later)
     The brothers exchanged apprehensive looks when the Human talked about their date with Gaster later. They didn’t think it was a very good idea and started to say so, but Gaster walking in prevented them.
    “Hello, Human.~ I have everything set up in the kitchen if you’re ready.~”
     The Human nodded and Gaster put the brothers back in the cells before leading the Human towards the kitchen. When the two of them got there, they saw that he had already set up everything. From the lit candle on the table to the delicious-looking tea and cookie, it looked perfect. It felt so romantic that the Human almost started to cry tears of joy. Gaster chuckled at their reaction and sat them down at the table before taking a seat himself.
     Taking a sip of their tea, the Human immediately knew it was golden flower tea. Although, the taste was a bit...weird. It was still tasty though and so were the cookies so they didn’t think too much of it. As they ate, Gaster trailed a finger around the rim of his cup while he spoke.
    “I hope you like the tea, Human.~ The King taught me how to make it but I’m not sure it’s as good as his...~”
     The Human smiled at this and asked how Asgore came up with the recipe.
    “Let’s not worry about that, Human.~ This date isn’t about Asgore nor Alphys so just forget about them, alright?”
     They found his tone of voice alarming but let him continue talking. It was sweet at first. He talked about his growing feelings for them and complimenting them as well. The Human would blush harder and harder each time he spoke.
    “I would’ve never guessed that I could ever love a human, but being with you makes me very happy.~”
    “Your eyes always remind me of rubies, Human.~”
     But soon, the compliments turned into thinly-veiled threats. It didn’t sound like it was towards them however. Some of the things said were slightly creepy as well.
    “All I want is you, Human.~ All I’ve ever wanted was you.~”
    “Alphys honestly thought I would skip out on a date with you just to help her with a lab report.~ Hopefully she got the hint earlier.~”
     When the compliments turned creepy, the Human began to shift uncomfortably in their seat. They had a bad feeling in their SOUL after each spoken threat,. Finally, the Human decided to end the date immediately and tried to leave the room, only for Gaster to suddenly grab their wrist. They struggled but his grip was too strong.
    “*You tell Gaster to let you go.” ‘*He gives a dark chuckle in return...’
    “I’ve confessed my feelings for you, Human and this is how you respond?~ Bad. Choice.~”
    “*You tell him that he’s hurting you.” ‘*His grip on you only tightens.’
     Gaster then yanked the Human to him, tightly hugging them to his chest. They felt too weak to fight back all of a sudden. He ran his fingers through their hair while tapping his skull against their forehead. Their vision was becoming blurry now. Suddenly, they felt Gaster clench a fistful of their hair.
    “No one else makes me feel this way, Human!~ I can’t afford to lose that!~ I will make complete sure that you can’t escape me.~”
     The Human finally found the strength to break free from his grasp. They didn’t get too far though as they suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed to the floor. They tried to get back up but their body failed them. The Human let a out a whimper for help, hoping someone would hear them. The last thing they saw before they blacked out was Gaster standing over them with a deranged look on his face.
~~~~~~
     The Human was in complete agony when they woke up. Pain shot up their right arm as the apparent sedatives Gaster had snuck into their tea started wearing off. The Human’s vision had cleared slightly but they were still drowsy and confused. Attempting to sit up proved useless as they found themselves strapped to some sort of chair. Eyes trailed down to their clothing which was splattered in small specks of blood. They guessed it to be theirs but weren’t sure from where.
     The door then opened with Gaster walking in. He looked slightly less deranged now. He walked up to the Human who began to struggle and stroked their hair in a tender way. Gaster then grabbed a damp washcloth and began to clean off blood from their hand. That answered the question of where the blood came from but that still left another question.
    “*You ask Gaster what he did to you and why your arm hurts so much.”
     Gaster once again gave another dark chuckle and unstrapped their right arm. He showed them their hand, causing the Human to start crying. Screwed onto their hand was a metal plate with letters on it. The letters read: WDG-3 H, a branding of some sort. They were in so much shock that they barely registered Gaster talking as he began to unstrap them completely.
    “Do you like it, Human?~ I made it just for you and the best part is-”
     The Human felt Determination pumped through their SOUL as they roughly pushed Gaster backwards, cutting him off and sending him falling onto the floor. They ran out the open door in hopes of finding somewhere to hide long enough to form a plan. They would periodically check behind them to see if he was following them but they never saw nor heard Gaster. Filled with hope, they ran into the large storage room and shut the door behind them. The Human pressed their back against wall and slide down to the floor. They tried to steady their breathing as they tried to figure out what their next step was.
    “*You let out a scream when the door suddenly swings open.”
     They scrambled into the corner as Gaster calmly walked towards them. The Human knew there was no escape at this point. They sobbed loudly as he knelt in front of them. How did Gaster even find them?!
     As if Gaster had read their mind, he gently grasped their right hand. His voice was eerily calm as he spoke.
    “You left before I could tell you the best part, Human.~ The plate allows me to track where you are at all times.~ It may be uncomfortable for a couple of days but you’ll get used to it.~”
     Any hope that the Human may of had left completely vanished when they heard this. Even if they were to escape, even if they had any chance to find a way out, Gaster would be able to quickly find them. The Human didn’t want to risk losing a hand either so attempting to remove the plate was a no-go. They were trapped here whether they like it or not. Fresh tears streamed down their cheeks at this revelation but apparently they weren’t punished enough for whatever sins they may have committed.
     Gaster pulled the Human from the floor and pushed them roughly against the wall. His face darkened as he gripped their shoulders tightly.
     “I feel like I should give warning before you decide to do anything drastic.~”
    “If you feel tempted to leave me, I won’t hesitate to give the Subjects the same treatment.~ You wouldn’t want that to happen to the little skeletons, would you?~”
     Now he was resorting to blackmail, as if today couldn’t get any worse.
    “*You tell Gaster to leave the brothers out of this.” ‘*He seems pleased with your answer and pulls you into a hug.’
     Gaster quietly whispered into their ear.
    “Don’t worry, my dear Human.~ We’ll be together forever, and nothing will get in the way of that.~”
(Later)
     The Human found themselves one-sided cuddling with Gaster, alone in his office. They had finally ran out of tears but sadness still lingered. Looking at their new handplate, the Human wondered what went wrong in the timeline and what sick, twisted being had made Gaster this way...
Note: Like I said before, this isn’t canon to the normal storyline so the Human doesn’t actually have a handplate :D. I hope you all enjoyed reading and were patient enough for the wait. Thank you all for reading! Requests are always welcomed! I love all of you! Stay tuned for more.

Chapter 13: I'm sad because I'm depressed and I'm depressed because I'm sad.
In which Sans remembers why he doesn’t talk about his feelings anymore.
*Sans's POV*
"Do you, by any instance, have suicidal thoughts?"
"i... not that often"
"But you have?"
"i would be lying if i say no"
Papyrus asked (Y/N) yesterday God-knows-what and he ended up knowing what a psychiatrist and a psychologist are, and here I am, talking with a psychiatrist. My brother said that it would be better if I had a new treatment started by a professional on the topic and not by a random monster that calls itself a doctor. Considering that in the Underground we only had general doctors, it was difficult to talk about these matters and get the help needed. Therefore, this seemed like a better option.
Papy spent the night (and this morning) looking for the best option to me, considering that discrimination it's still present. And so he went, asking multiple people if they were open to listen a depressing skeleton being depressed (he obviously didn't say it that way... I think). And so he finally found someone willing to help me, and we head off as soon as possible (hell, we didn't even eat... should I say I'm hungry?)
"Do you have a specific plan to commit suicide, Sans?"
"uh... no?"
"YOU DON'T SOUND SO SURE, BROTHER"
"it's just... i haven't thought about it that deeply. i just sometimes think that i want to disappear and that's it. no idea how, no idea when. just disappear.
"I see..."
The old man went over his little notebook and wrote something down. He was bald and had a white beard almost as pale as my skull, and had a sternum and serious look behind his rectangular glasses. He would be intimidating... if he wasn't a psychiatrist willing to help a monster. How bad could this man possibly be?
"Sans, do you sleep well? And I mean at nights"
"no, sir. i haven't been sleeping well since last year. i mean, i can easily fall asleep, but it's difficult to me to stay that way."
"I see, do you nap at day?"
"heh, a lot if you ask my brother"
"Ok..."
I freaked out for a moment, returning to an odd silence only filled by the sound of his pen writing down my weirdness. I became nervous, not knowing what he was going to ask next. But, honestly, I've been kind of unused to these unpredictable events the Surface has to bring. I was used to hearing the same dialogues and to say the same jokes, but know... everything it's fresh and new. It's scary, but quite a reliever.
"Ok Sans, do you by any chance have any specific dreams or nightmares?"
I froze and cough out the water I was drinking in shock. A quick flashback of the "Genocide Run" went all over my mind, the part of my brother dying repeating itself horribly. The empty look of that kid, the Judgement Hall being my new space... the kid giving up and resetting in front of my eyes, not before giving me a vengeful look.
"Sans? It's okay if you don't want to talk about it yet, but I need to know..."
I sighed, knowing that it was for the best. If I want to enjoy the future, I have to get rid of this fucking trauma.
"i... i do have specific dreams, sir. nightmares, actually. i... i don't want to mention them right now"
Papyrus let out a sigh in disappointment and I gave him a weak smile. I know he always wanted to know what's on my mind... but I just couldn't tell him at that moment. He smiled back to me, making me feel less pressured.
"Don't worry, Sans. We'll go step by step, no need to run all over the details. Still, the fact that you've been having constant nightmares of the same topic it's quite alarming, that's why I needed to know"
He then picked a piece of paper and scribbled some things down.
"This is for the drug store..."
He picked another one, not before drawing a small asterisk on the top.
"And this one is for you"
He then gave me the two pieces of paper and I glanced over them with Papyrus, curious about the medicines.
"In order to deal with your depression, Sans, you'll take a pill of Prozac (or fluoxetine) every morning, okay? I'll determine later for how much time"
We nodded, then glanced again at the paper, reading the next medicament.
"For your insomnia, Sans, you'll take a pill Restoril (or temazepam) every night before going to sleep. This is one of the best pills to not only falling asleep but also keeping you that way"
Before I could even nod, I noticed an uneasy look in the doc's face. I raised an... eyebrow, startling him for a second.
"I'm sorry" he stated, then sighed.
"IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG, DOCTOR?"
"Nothing it's just... the fact that Sans is having constant nightmares worries me. Do you also have constant flashbacks of said events?"
I slowly nodded, and his face got worst.
"DOCTOR? IS IT REALLY THAT BAD?"
"No, it's just... it breaks my heart to know that the Underground may not have been a better place than the Surface"
A better place?
"what do you mean, sir?"
"..."
He just sighed and gave me an apologetic smile, trying his best not to break down. I noticed he was on the edge of tears, and I felt panic running all over my body.
"Sans, there's a high chance you have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or for short, PTSD"
"PTSD?"
"Yes, it's kind of a serious condition to deal with. It shows that Sans had a really traumatic event in his life, and it may seem impossible for him to have a normal life with all the fear he gained from that moment. Or am I wrong, Sans?"
I shook my head, and he gave me a sad smile. Just as he said, just as it is. I never thought it would be that serious, though.
"You'll take Zoloft (or sertraline) for that, Sans... but I also recommend you to go to a psychologist. I can directly put you an appointment with a friend of mine if that's what you want. What do you say? He'll be more than open to hearing your case"
Papyrus nodded excitedly, while I was not too sure. I felt like my normal balance would break down if I started to go to therapy... but then I looked to Papyrus again. I don't want him all worried about me, I want him to have a normal life. And for that, I also need to form a normal life myself.
"sure, may we have the address?"
"Sure, I'll give you an e-mail with it"
We gave the doctor a quick goodbye and a thank you, then head off to our home. I insisted to Papyrus that we could eat something first and relax, then go to the drug store. He groaned slightly and muttered a "lazybones" but took my offer.
When we arrived, though...
"Hello, my children! Where were you?"
Oh fuck.
I glanced over the living room and saw our small group of friends gathered cozily, including an almost smashed (Y/N), an annoying flower screaming, a suspiciously staring father, and more!
...I gulped, knowing I could never say the truth. (Y/N) is a new person in my life, the flower is a bitch, my father is another bitch, Undyne doesn't take anything seriously, Alphys takes everything seriously, Frisk is a dirty betrayer, Toriel worries too much, Asgore would go and make everyone check themselves with the therapist, Mettaton would go and check himself with a therapist, Napstablook would feel all sorry, and Arial would be highly disappointed.
...
Saying the truth sounds pretty awful at this point.
"OH, WE WERE AT THE DOCTOR, MOTHER!"
Oh crap
Papyrus seemed to notice my signal of begging help and came to the rescue immediately, never mentioning anything about a psychiatrist.
"SANS, BEING ALL STUPID, GOT SOMETHING STUCK IN HIS CHEST AGAIN!"
Ouch.
"yep. guess i need some spare ribs at this point, huh?"
Everyone groaned and so I successfully got away from the problem. I tried my best to keep my cool, but I easily spaced out a couple of times and ended up startling myself. They were doing rounds in Super Mario Bros., and (Y/N) seemed to be an expert on it, considering she was on World 6.
"Oh c' mon, when are you going to die?!" Flowey annoyingly exclaimed, foreshadowing a bit. I almost smacked him over before I saw Toriel's face, then I lost myself again on the videogame.
(Y/N) continued playing until arriving at the final castle. Surprising, to say the least. Everyone else was getting enthusiastic about her defeat, but it never happened. Instead, (Y/N) went to play all over again, making everyone groan.
"Oh my God, let us play as well!" Undyne roared, giving a death glare to the older human.
"You said you wanted me to prove how good I am..." She innocently answered, putting the controller aside.
"Ok, you've already proven yourself. Now, please, give us a chance this time" Frisk sighed in defeat, feeling vulnerable and probably fooled.
"Ok!" (Y/N) cheerily got up from the couch, then waved at Papyrus and me "Hi guys! Anything serious happened?"
Shit.
"IT'S NOTHING THAT CAN'T BE HANDLED, HUMAN!"
"I'm glad, how do you feel Sans?" She looked at me worried and made me feel like the worst person on Earth.
A huge part of me wanted to say the truth and confess my problems at that moment, but that was me feeling horrible. I always hated lying, but that's what my life has come to. At this point, I can barely feel sorry for lying...
Except on this topic.
I've always been sensitive with this stuff, and that's how Papyrus ended up knowing. It has become something really messed up that I want to let all the people I care about that I'm not okay. I want them to help me feel complete again. To feel safe. To have hope.
"Sans?"
"HUMAN... SANS... IS IT OKAY FOR YOU IF I TELL HER WHAT'S GOING ON? I TOLD HER SOME THINGS YESTERDAY AND SHE WAS REALLY COMPREHENSIBLE. BESIDES, MAYBE SHE CAN HELP US MORE WITH THE SUBJECT!"
I glanced over her, and she gave me a small and recomforting smile. Out of all the people, I never knew she would be one of those who know what's going on.
"If you don't want me to, Sans, I understand. Just know I'm here to support all of you, ok? And don't take that as an associate... but as a friend. I'm more than willing to help you out in any way I can... but that depends on you"
A deep pain went all over my soul, but then I nodded. If she was so understanding as Papyrus said she was when she heard what problem I have... maybe telling her a bit of detail won't hurt.
"we'll tell ya later, ok? now it's a little bit crowded"
"I understand, thanks for trusting me"
"thanks to you, kiddo"
Thanks to you...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Your POV*
It was a while after the small gathering ended, everyone having to go earlier than expected. I already attended my work-hunting business and find a convincing and small company. I sent them an e-mail, and so I'm waiting for them to text me back. But for now, more important things were on my head.
I feel really sorry about Sans's case, and how desperate Papyrus seemed yesterday when he told all about it. I suffer from some things as well, and I know it isn't easy. It's never easy to deal with yourself...
"HUMAN, SANS, SHALL WE DISCUSS NOW OUR LITTLE SECRET?"
Sans chuckled a bit and I nodded, preparing myself from what I was about to hear.
"OK, SO... YOU REMEMBER THE TALK WE HAD YESTERDAY, RIGHT HUMAN?!"
I nodded again, and he smiled and reassured his brother that he was in good hands. I giggled softly, and the short skeleton just scratched the back of his head out in embarrassment.
"I FOLLOWED YOUR ADVICE, AND I TOOK SANS TO THE MOST ACCESSIBLE PSYCHIATRIST I COULD!"
I smiled, glad that Sans accepted any help.
"What did the doctor diagnosed you, Sans?" I asked, hoping he would be the one answering me this time. After all, this is Sans's main problem, not Papyrus's. He tensed up a little but quickly relaxed as he remembered the presence of his brother there. He took enough courage silently, then spoke with that characteristic deep voice of his.
"depression, insomnia, and... well, something called ptsd, which is-"
"PTSD?!" I interrupted abruptly, not believing what my ears just heard. Sans having depression is hard to admit, but PTSD? Oh lord, what has this poor guy endured in his young life?
"uh... yeah, i... eh..."
Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap.
"Nonono, don't think that way, Sans. It's just... a bit surprising, coming for you. I never expected you to have such a problem, but I guess appearance is quite a bi... beach."
"BEACH?"
"Uh, yeah..." Please come with a good excuse, (Y/N) "You know, beaches may be all pretty on the photos, but the dangerous creatures and natural phenomenons they bring show that they are not that perfect. I guess that's the same for Sans. He easily can go on and hide perfectly with jokes and laughs, but that doesn't mean he's that careless nor happy on the inside... sorry for putting you that way, Sans"
"it's okay kid, i think i get it" he jokingly winked at me, noticing what I was going to say at first. I sighed, feeling pretty stupid at this point.
"Anyways... what has the doctor prescribed you, Sans?"
"this thing called 'prozac', another one called 'restoril' and the last one being 'zoloft'..."
Huh, I have all of those at home.
Maybe I can give him some, considering I have a ton of them...
"HUMAN! SANS MAY BE ON TREATMENT AND ALL, BUT I DON'T WANT YOU TO THINK LESS OF HIM! HE'S AN EXCELLENT MONSTER, EVEN IF HE'S WAY TOO LAZY, BUT HE'S A GOOD BROTHER!"
I saw a slight hint of blue hue spread all over Sans's cheekbones, and I assumed it was blush. I smiled softly, knowing that would be the kind of brothership I would want. Instead, I had the goddamn curse to have no brothers or sisters, and here I am. Alone.
"I would never think less of anyone by this reason, Papyrus" Then I came up with a wild idea, but that mind instantly approved. My smile grew bigger, and I continued "Actually, now that you're confessing me something quite touchy... I guess I should do the same. It may help you to feel a bit more comfortable, Sans"
He raised an eyebrow and I returned to my soft and small smile, preparing myself...
Now that I was thinking about it, it was a bad idea. It was a bad idea to show my weak points, to show my problems, and to show how vulnerable I actually am. But that didn't stop me. And it will never do.
"I... besides from dealing with, well, anxiety, I also suffer from depression..." His eyes widened and tensed up, staring at me with the same shock I felt when he mentioned PTSD. I continued "I have insomnia as well, and... a psychiatrist said I probably had PTSD, considering some constant dreams I have..."
"i... how?"
What?
"i mean, how can you have all those things and still want to help others instead of yourself?"
I stared at him, dumbfounded. Then I sighed with a smile on my face, trying to feel as confident as I could.
"Making others happy is what makes me happy, Sans. And that's what I need the most..."
"To be happy"

I would prompt you something from a different fandom, but... I can't stop thinking about undertale. Maybe a headcanon of Undertale? -morethanithoughtofficialblog
Headcanon, hmmm... Since you didn't specify, I'll assume you meant my own headcanon!
HC: The in-story reset ability comes from determination PLUS a magical environment, and Chara, a determined little fucker themself, had said power. Also monsters and gender, Chara being an enby from the modern age (that's canon but shhh), and a few other little things about their time in the Underground.
Title: My Best Friend
A few things struck them down here in the Underground. At first, it was things like, "Holy crap! I'm alive!" and "Wait, no, I'm dead, and this is hell," followed by, "No, it's heaven, but none of this is real." The striking realizations eventually settled into an awed "Wow, this has been here the whole time," but they were quite comfortable with an agnostic approach to the reality of the situation at that point. The Underground had chocolate, and it tasted real enough, so what did it matter?
But those were the abstract thoughts. It struck them, at first, that these monsters must not have ever seen a human before. The big fuzzy goat things that took them in (they weren't sure why at first) never talked about them with gendered terms. It wasn't like they were physically androgynous; no one on the surface outside the internet ever used the right pronouns. These monsters must not have had any reference for whether they were masculine or feminine. Right?
But then it struck them, as Toriel placed a snail-free miniature meatloaf in front of them, reminiscing about how most humans she'd known never liked snail, that this wasn't true. For Asgore and Toriel, at least, male and female humans were old friends they'd never see again.
When Chara asked how they knew, Asriel laughed shyly at the question. Did humans not just know each other's gender? That's weird. You're weird.
You're weird! they yapped, and pushed him off the couch. He looked hurt, but then started giggling when he saw their red-faced grin.
Another thing that struck them was that this family, the Dreemurs, actually wanted them around. They assumed for a while that they wanted to eat them, then sell them, then find a foster home elsewhere in the Underground. After all, this was the king and queen. What business did they have adopting a child?
But no, the Dreemurs seemed to really like them. Though the monsters working around the castle kept their distance, Chara was welcomed and given the same love by their new guardians that they gave Asriel, and Asriel...
Asriel genuinely liked them. Asriel looked up to them. He was excited to show them around the castle—which was enormous by the way—and his games and his toys and old family photos. It didn't take long for him to get more invested in what they had to say; he loved their ideas, their games and their stories about what the surface was like.
Only two genders? Asriel looked astounded. What happened to people like you?
Chara sneered. They hated people like me.
Oh.
One day, the two of them were running through the halls, a part of the castle the human had never been before, and Chara stopped by a window overlooking New Home. They had never seen New Home before; most sides of the massive castle were either bare rock or some part of the royal grounds. Sure, a few monsters lived there, but they all worked for the king and queen.
New Home proper was... not as big as they thought, but it was certainly bustling. Monsters of all shapes and sizes moved through the narrow streets, shouting and laughing and making general disruptions of themselves. It seemed, all in all, that the space didn't quite fit the population. But it was more than Chara had seen in the weeks they'd been down here.
Asriel stopped a few meters down. "What are you...? Oh! You haven't seen New Home yet, have you?"
Chara shook their head. Asriel came up close and started babbling about the kinds of monsters who lived there, how Dad was planning to expand the caves to make room for future growth.
They weren't listening that hard. They saw a gust of hot wind, the kind of heat that distorts the air, drift by outside.
They opened the window.
"Wh-what are you doing? Hey, Chara, d—don't climb out there, it's dangerous! Chara!"
They turned back, one foot on the roof and the other on the windowsill, with a grin. "What, do you care about me?"
Asriel's eyes went wide. Sniffling, he whispered, "Yes."
Chara loosened their grip on the windowsill for a moment. Just a moment. "Pff, don't be a crybaby," they scoffed, and climbed out on the roof.
It was a slanted roof with cool shingles. The heat in the air wasn't unbearable, but there was something hot somewhere.
"Oh, we're close to Hotland," said Asriel. His foot slipped, and he fell on his butt. They laughed and sat down next to him. "There's lava there."
If course there was. It wasn't lost on Chara that Asriel's name was just a mix between Asgore and Toriel. Monsters had weird ideas for names.
The human made a habit of going out on that part of the roof. It felt daring, and isolated, and just... comfortable.
They could be alone for a while.
They could think.
What they thought of doesn't matter. It's not really your business to know. Needless to say, they needed the alone time.
And then, one day, they fell.
All the feelings of that minute they were in the air, the moment of impact, the castle spire puncturing their chest and the brief instance before their limbs collided with the slanted surface of the roof there, when their spine shattered, their heart stopped, their vision blackened from the pain before their life went dark—
It can't be wholly described.
You probably shouldn't want me to describe it.
Another thing that's difficult to describe is what they experienced next. They felt, in the darkness, an offer to return.
Go back.
In their shock, they hesitated. They thought. They realized.
They'd died.
But they could go back.
So they did.
The second time around, it struck them that all the cues they'd taken from the Dreemurs had been misread the first time. Asriel had always been excited to meet them; Toriel and Asgore had always cared.
It struck them also that nothing changed. It all happened again. The butterfly effect didn't seem to be in effect here. No matter what they did, very little changed overall. They could change one thing, but that never seem to affect the world around them. It was like a script that everyone was following.
So... Chara liked video games.
They missed video games. They mostly liked really difficult ones with secret storylines. Some indie games had come out in the past few years that they really liked, and they often used multiple saves to find out all the different pathways and dialogue options.
They were hesitant to call this a game. But it felt familiar.
They wondered...
What if they could save?
_______
Okie I wanted that to go further, had some thoughts, but then I realized whOOPS that would be kinda long, so here's your implication that Chara maybe abused the reset ability a bit.
That definitely got it out of my system. Might have rushed the end.

Underfell and Swapfell Meta (aka the longest fucking post)
*You hear a distant sound of knuckles cracking. There is a shuffle, like someone sitting down and then a sound of rapid typing.
Let’s begin.
So. To start broadly:
What does it mean to “Fell” a timeline?
Tumblr media
The original Underfell began as a simple concept: an alternative universe where “kill or be killed” was not simply Flowey’s bleak outlook, but the law of the land.
What I’m interested in dissecting here is how that law is enforced in both Fell and Swapfell, and how the societies these different enforcements styles influence the characters that populate it.
I’m going to start off with a similar origin story for the “kill or be killed” law, referring to characters by their roles rather than their names to avoid Asgore/Toriel, Frisk/Chara, etc confusion.
Essentially, both Fell and Swapfell already had worlds that were naturally more inclined to certain levels of brutality and violence, but these took a decided turn for the worst when the First Human and the Royal Heir made an attempt to break the barrier and were slaughtered by the humans living at the foot of Ebott. In a fit of grief and anger the Ruler Goat declared not only all-out war on humanity, but that until they were free of the barrier, the weak would be winnowed out of their society to ensure that when they Barrier collapsed humanity would be facing the strongest fighting force monsterkind could muster. This is the world that the Pacifist Child will eventually fall into.
This is where the timelines diverge.
I’ll start with Fell, for.....
Tumblr media
reasons.
Asgore, regardless of universe, is inclined to make impulsive decisions, especially when under emotional duress. His Fell counterpart is no different in this. In his grief and anger he enacted the harshest forms of martial law, promising to his subjects that unless they were prepared to fight for their lives, they would not be allowed to keep them. Monsters as a society have a strong sense of communal emotion. They felt his anger as their own, and in the end, enough of them were incensed enough against humans that they were ready to follow his lead even down this darkest of paths. The few dissenting voices were soon too busy fighting off the others to rebel, and eventually were either wiped out or had adjusted to the new world order.
The first few years were pure anarchy. Monsters barely stirred outside their door, expecting to be preyed upon at any moment. Certain, more friendly and trusting subsets of monsters, like Whimsuns and Vulkins, were completely wiped out. Others, like Tems and Froggits, had their numbers severely reduced and were forced to become far more brutal. It was during this period that Toriel decided she had had enough and left for the Ruins. At first, she tried to create a safe space for monsters to retreat to, but the violence found its way into the Ruins until she eventually sealed herself off. She is disillusioned and cold, and can in fact be one of the most frightening characters in the Underground if you get on her bad side.
The anarchy wasn’t sustainable. Even if you are the biggest and the strongest monster in the area, you eventually get tired of looking over your shoulder for attackers hoping to get lucky. Anarchy transformed into Kratocracy, rule of the strong.  Eventual pockets of relative order started to form around the Underground. As mentioned, Toriel held sway over the Ruins, and though she cared little what her subjects did amongst themselves, she made certain she and any of her children would be able to walk freely.
In Snowdin, Grillby was the major power player. His bar was a strictly no-weapons zone: customers feeling unsafe was bad for business. The fireman became landlord/ defacto mayor (of sorts) over the area. He was strong enough to protect clients that paid his rent (excessive though it was), and eventually, troublemakers were either killed off or contented themselves with picking off the occasional straggler in the forest. Disappearances are not looked into but a tenuous order is kept. When the skeleton brothers moved in for a while it looked like there might be a bit of turf war between Edge and Fellby. However, Red saw to it that an uneasy truce was negotiated between them. Red ensures the Grillby’s shadier activities are ignored while Edge uses his influence over the local chapter of the Royal Guard to punish troublemakers.
Despite housing the Captain of the Royal Guard, Waterfall is a pretty much the Wild West. Tem Village and Gerson’s shop are perhaps the only areas where you can afford to sleep for a few minutes and even then its like as not your wallet will be taken in the process. Undyne has too much on her plate to be concerned with being on the clock at her own house. The area is home to some of the Underground’s most brutal and aggressive monsters, as well as a hilariously out of place snail ranch, run by the one being in the Underground who literally cannot be killed. Napstablook is not a good-tempered ghost, however, and lingering near his farm is not recommended.
The Lab is Alphys’ small kingdom, and in addition to the Amalgamates that serve as her guard dogs (brutal and twisted reminders of what she can do to monsters that cross her), she also has the Captain of the Royal Guard on a hook, and Undyne will send extra protection to her for whatever reason.
Hotland is deceptively peaceful. Muffet and Mettaton duke it out in a resource batter but open warfare is ultimately detrimental to both of them. It scares off the customers. Don’t let your guard down, though. This town is not a fist to a face, but a knife in the back. Not to mention the graphic stories of what Muffet will do to you if you don’t have money for safe passage.
The road to New Home is....surprisingly unguarded. Perhaps a silent challenge from Asgore to test his mettle. Or maybe the rumors are true. The king regrets his decision and silently prays he’ll be deposed. Angry and embittered by his countless losses, and remorseful for what he’s done to the world he once swore to protect.
Ultimately Underfell is not a society with any kind of consistent ruling class. The citizens of Snowdin are more beholden to Grillby and the brothers than whatever the royals are saying. All you need to gain and keep power is to be both strong and wary. There will always be challengers,  but the battle is in many ways honest. Schemers are few and far between.
The Underground also places a supreme amount of emphasis on the militarization of its citizens. Though the purpose has been muddied there is still a strong belief that the reason they are still doing this is to make sure humans will be facing off against the strongest fighting force imaginable. Strength, however toxic, is valuable. Brawn is also prized over brain. While a certain amount of cunning is always welcome academic types are regarded as highly suspect. Its hard to communicate to people perpetually in danger of being killed off that yes, your equations are definitely helping. Alphys’ predecessor was thrown into his own Core for not producing results in a timely manner, and she is forever paranoid of meeting the same fate. This is also why Red is even more reticent than his Tale counterpart about his background as a scientist. Ultimately its safer for him to be perceived as a thug than an engineer.
However, the primary theme of Undertale rings true through all the AUs.  There is something at the core of these people that is good. Though they can be lead by bullies and tyrants, they have a lot of respect for courage and determination. This is how a Pacifist Human can win them over. The willingness to continue to overcome obstacles while sticking to your principles is a rare trait, but one that they find fundamentally compelling. Everyone is beginning to grow weary of the war, of the loss. Suddenly the possibility of laying down their swords doesn’t seem nearly as distasteful as it once might have.
Swapfell is a very different story.
Tumblr media
Now, buckle up kids, Toriel dissertation time.
The canon on Toriel is very....nebulous at best. Honestly this probably stems in part from the fact that most aus are built from a single character up, and this character is more often than not a Sans or a Papyrus. Its also probably a result of Toriel not being a particularly popular character for lengthy character dissertations and examination in the way Alphys or Papyrus is. Most people tend to leave it at goat mom, so the shuffle of Toriel through aus tends to be very.....flexible.
This isn’t to shit on any particular version of Toriel. We’re all making this shit up as we go along with aus and people are free to like what they like and make what they make. However, for me, what I prefer to do with aus is boil an Undertale character down to an essential flaw and an essential strength and try to preserve that across aus. For Sans, its resignation and perceptiveness. For Papyrus, its lack of self confidence and loyalty.
For Toriel, the two things I tend to preserve for her is this. Her essential flaw is stubborness, especially as relates to her stringent ethics. What she prioritizes may shift a bit. I think the Swap generally leads her to prioritize the freedom of her people over the lives of individual humans. But what is unchanging is her unwavering dedication to them. Regardless of who she has to cut out of her life, she will dedicate her all to those ethics. And her greatest strength is her maternal nature: she has a strong desire to bring out the best in people she cares about, and will tend to nurture them whether they like it or not.
Now, a Fell version would twist this a bit. No matter how I looked at it I couldn’t see any version of Toriel making the impulse choice to enact kill or be killed. No matter how brutal the world that’s quite a leap to make, and I never see Toriel as a person inclined to rashness.
So rather than a royal edict, I believe kill or be killed was less the law of the land, and more an ethos that slipped in. Swapfell Toriel is a gifted manipulator. Her maternal nature and her known attachments to everyone Underground meant she would be trusted. So when she began her work, it never occurred to anyone to distrust her.
Toriel’s resentment didn’t only fester towards humankind (though that certainly was a part of it). In a way she came to resent the world around her. How they were all chasing a dream that many of them would likely never see the end of. They grew and overtime came to forget her children as they looked towards the stars and prayed to be rejoined to them. As much as she wished the children had never gone, at least they had gotten up to do something. At least they had acted. Would any of these monsters have the courage to?
So Toriel did what any good mother would do when she saw her child sitting listless. She gave them a little push.
Rivalries were exacerbated by her playing back and forth between them. She encouraged Gaster, then Alphys to employ harsher tactics on lower criminals, arguing that consistent parasites would hurt the Underground more and more in the long run. At the same time, she pulled them back from larger conspiracies unless it was too big to ignore, creating an environment that proliferated backstabbing and theft. Her favor was never guaranteed with any of them, and she changed her minds on decisions that her courtiers feared that her mind had been taken in her grief, which earned her the moniker “The Mad Queen”. If she’s crazy, though, its like a fox.
Kill or be killed did become the law of the land, in practice if not indeed. The understanding was that anything goes, as long as you’re not stupid enough to caught. However, rather than kratocracy (rule of the strong), swapfell is more oligarchy (rule of a few). Those who already had previous access to resources and enough ruthlessness to survive quickly rose to the top.
Grillby and Napstaton continually battle for supremacy over Hotland and are the primary resource providers for the entire region. Their employees have the highest mortality rate of the entire Underground, but the pay is also unspeakably good. And given that both of them charge heavy protection fees to anyone unlucky enough to live in that area, many are willing to weather the risks.
Undyne runs her own roost in the lab but it largely content to remain unbothered by the outside world. There are rumors of her kidnapping monsters that get too close and....modifying them, but she’d argue that she’s doing them a favor by making them stronger.
Alphys’ extreme anxiety is more understandable than ever. Her job as Captain of the Royal Guard has rapidly transformed from keeper of justice to keeper of power. She has to keep those in Toriel’s favor happy, even if they’re intentions are unjust. This has lowered popular opinion of her quite a bit, and many regard her as merely a lapdog with a hammer. It gnaws at her, as she still has a profound loyalty to her people, and when she can she’ll often try to get around her orders, but in general she tends to lock herself away to hide from the shame.
Muffet is not quite the powerhouse in Snowdin as Fellby is in his version, given that she prefers to keep to herself. Still, her bar is a well known front for most of the dirty deeds done in the region. She’ll keep your secrets, for a price, and has her fingers in the pies of pretty much everything going on Underground. She’s not as cold-blooded as she’d like to appear. Ultimately if you’re down on your luck she simply sends you on your way and doesn’t bother with you. But never, EVER, cut her out of a deal. Her pet is a hungry beast.
The bros I’ve gone into lengthy detail elsewhere, so I won’t deal with it much here, but they work in alliance with Muffet and try to keep their fingers on the pulse of the town.
Asgore left Toriel once he began to understand that her newfound hobby of pitting their people against each other wasn’t going to change. He had no larger goal in mind. His mind and heart were tired, and he simply wanted to spend his days in peace, nurturing his flowers and speaking to no one as he lived with his grief. However, the monsters of the Ruins have grown wicked with their years of isolation, and he is forced to resort to brutal techniques to stay alive. His trident is never far from him, and as we all know, daffodils can be highly toxic when pushed down one’s throat. Always keep an eye on his tea.
The Swapfell monsters are hands down the hardest to redeem out of the main four aus, but like Fell they have their softer points. In a world predicated on relationships most of them are naturally inclined to quite a bit of loyalty. Friendship is a risky business, but almost all of them have a person they would sacrifice anything for without question. For the bros its each other. For Alphys, Undyne. For Grillby, Fuku. You see how it goes. Getting in good with one will ensure that the other is more likely to go easier on you. They also have an inherent respect for craftiness. Where Underfell monsters will mock and despise you for dodging attacks and running away, Swapfell monsters have an appreciation for a tactical retreat and may even praise you for avoiding getting a scratch on you the entire battle. Ultimately, they’re all tired of this long dark period, and would welcome the opportunity for peace, for no longer looking over their shoulder. The Human only has to convince them to admit that to themselves.

Theory About Frisk And What The Determination REALLY is
first I want to say, if some saw the post I posted before this one, I hope you understand my concerns and I really hope everything works out...
anyway, I don’t believe that the Red Soul in Undertale’s Canon Timeline in the game itself, is Determination, we only are made to believe it is because the whole “fills you with determination.”
I think that the Determination Trait, might be a Artificial Soul creation of the royal scientist and for a time when Flowey was the first flower to bloom in the king’s garden, he was used as a vessel for the “Determination Soul”
which I think is a red color too, but like a Dark Red.
when we start the game and we see Frisk on those bed of flowers,
our “avatar-soul” is inside them and controls them and we move them, because we the player are technically Frisk, and we are filled with Compassion.
I believe the true name of the red soul we see that Flowey show us and tells us about LV, is Compassion.
I believe now that the true trait name of the Red Soul, is Compassion.
it is possible that the “Determination Soul” is inside Frisk too, that would mean that Frisk has two traits inside of them,
Determination & Compassion.
in theory in AU Timeline sense, the Determination Trait could split into a Positive side of itself and ended up becoming a part of Frisk, and it giving birth to all different versions of Frisk with them being born with the trait known as Determination.
but we the Player, are the ones who have the Compassion Trait.
we work together with Frisk and make sure to not give them too much of the LV
and I believe that when we the player do go into a Geno Run, and the words becoming red when we check something like in Toriel’s home.
it’s NOT Chara, I believe it is The Determination.
if we keep killing monsters and keep give the Artificial Dark Red Soul Trait that Gaster created, more LV the more dangerous it will become once the Geno Route is complete , even if we the players do end up corrupting Frisk first, we shouldn’t place all the blame on Chara or even Flowey.
Chara is just a scapegoat for the player, to escape from guilt.
I believe that others who have played Undertale, have realized this too.
and I think some might of figured this out, but I think when the player chooses to ERASE THE WORLD & Timeline, like “Faux-Chara” wants
(I still believe that the red soul we see that is where we turn the power for the elevators back on, is actually The True-Chara, placed there by Gaster.)
and I believe the “next world” that Faux-Chara and We The Player Who’s Trait is Compassion, end up going to the Deltarune World.
which is a Alternate World from Undertale,
with it having all the monsters on the surface.
 the soul we see when we first start the Deltarune Game, that is us the player, are very being, our Compassion.
 and when we leave the dark world with Kris and Susie,
we don’t end up going back alone.
it is possible that, The Determination Trait came with us, the one that is filled with so much LV and is the Negative side, and counterpart to the Positive side that is now fully part of the Fan Version of Frisk that is beloved by many fans.
  The Negative Determination Trait shows up when we get too much LV,  that is them speaking when the words become red, I don’t believe it is Chara.
Chara’s Soul is trapped in the true lab.
and the smiley faces on the screens, that is Chara too.
I believe that Chara’s True Trait in the game, isn’t Determination, but Compassion.
in a new theory, it is possible that the Chara that talks Asriel into going to get the Buttercups, WASN’T Chara.
it was Faux-Chara who was the Determination Trait created by Gaster, Gaster wanted real results, no matter who got hurt.
so before the artificial soul went rogue on him, he switched Chara’s Soul with that artificial one, and told the Faux-Chara the plan and told Asriel to tell him the plan, but make it seem like it was “Chara’s idea.”
meanwhile, while the Determination/Faux-Chara was impersonating the Real-Chara, Gaster put Chara’s Soul where we the player/Frisk end up finding and then turning the power for the elevator, back on.
it was The Determination/Faux-Chara, that wanted to use Asriel’s full power on the humans and then take their souls.
if my theory about Asriel not using his healing magic is true, then perhaps he could tell that the “Chara” sharing a fused form with him, wasn’t his real sibling.
 and he either didn’t want to use healing magic, because he was scared if he did, that Fake Chara would take full control and kill all those humans.
or when he realized the Chara with him wasn’t the real Chara, he started to try to hurry home and get to the real Chara, but ended up losing too many HP and died.
or here is another theory, he could of healed himself and made sure to suppress the Faux-Chara while hurrying home and try to find out what happen to the real Chara, and when he tried to call out to Chara and ask them where they are, they were stabbed from behind, by none other than Gaster himself.
it is possible that Gaster did kill Asriel, then took the Determination Soul back and took it back took it back to the lab, then when he returned, he acted like he just saw Asriel turned to dust and then informed the King and Queen.
but it could be the Knight possessing Gaster’s body and he tried to keep himself from killing the young prince but the Knight’s power was too strong.
Knight might be able to go to and from the Undertale World and the Deltarune World, and might of kidnapped Gaster.
Knight’s body could of still been in Deltarune, while his soul went to the Undertale world before we the player goes there, and took over Gaster.
this is just a theory about Gaster and the Knight, and it’s okay if it’s wrong.
but it could be possible that when Chara’s Soul was switched with the Faux-Chara, it might of been the Knight doing the switching, while in control of Gaster’s body.
and it was the Knight that killed Asriel when he returned from the human village.
even if there might be dark versions of Gaster in Fan AU and Timelines, that wouldn’t mean that he would truly be like that in the canon of the game.
it could be possible after Knight left (with Gaster), Alphys found the Determination Soul, and then got Flowey and place the Determination Soul, inside of him.
then when Frisk falls into the underground (where the barrier isn’t at, because I believe the barrier is just over at New Home/ The Room Where We Fight Asgore.)
The Determination Soul  then goes from Flowey, to Frisk.
the reason why Flowey can’t reset anymore when Frisk/The Player comes along, is because the Determination got bored and decided to move into a different host that didn’t have a soul from the start until we the player, brought them to it.
we technically give the Determination what it wants, a new vessel.
 the more LV we get, the more it shows itself, even if we think it’s “Chara” it isn’t, because Chara is in the true lab.
when we do a happy ending, and we leave the underground and if we choose to go with Toriel, we end up leaving Frisk, the Compassion Trait.
but the Determination ends up being cleaved, to the Negative Trait, and the Positive Trait, the positive side ending up being Frisk.
when the player’s avatar-soul, ends up in Kris, we don’t have the Determination Soul with us, it is just us and Kris.
it is only when we leave the dark world, that the determination soul (the negative cleaved half, not the positive half that is Frisk that is still in the undertale world.)
it, the negative-determination soul, is the one that pulls us/the player/compassion trait out from Kris.
I believe that Kris’s trait is Impartially, which I think might be a Indigo color, which is a type of blue.
and that is why Kris appears blue in the dark world, and the reason why Susie still is purple, is because her trait is Perseverance.
there is a art work that I did of that theory about Kris’s true trait, but I will post it over at deviantart  maybe later.
even if it might be turn out my theory about Asriel in Undertale, having a secret dark side, might be incorrect, but I still believe that Asriel in Deltarune, might be truly be not as sweet as some of the monsters
I mean he has a knock-off game controller under his freaking bed, with a real game controller, which means that Asriel uses the real controller, and makes Kris use the knock-off/fake controller.
everyone in that town thinks Asriel is perfect and a angel, but Azzy (the Asriel from Undertale) might possibly be more of a angel than him.
it is possible the reason why Flowey, got all “Geno” when he had control of the timeline, was because of the Determination Soul placed inside him, before the said soul was cleaved while inside of Frisk.
The Determination Soul corrupted Flowey, and even after it left him and went to Frisk, it stayed with him, it was the one that gave Flowey the impression of how it’s “kill or be killed” in the game of Undertale.
but if we show Flowey kindness and keep sparing him, showing him Compassion no matter how many times he tells us nothing will change and even threaten us.....we keep showing him Compassion up until he runs away, at this point, the influence of the Determination Soul leaves him.
and when we face him a second time, he ends up as “Asriel”....
though I believe that the dust that made up Asriel’s body, is a part of Flowey, The Asriel’s Soul could be somewhere else.
Flowey is a cleaved part of Asriel, he is Asriel but at the same time he isn’t.
he has Asriel’s memories because the dust had them.
Flowey might of been alive even before Asriel’s dust ended up on him.
I think that the Hard Mode Timeline, might really be where the Demo-Flowey and Demo-Toriel live, even if when we start over after finishing the hard mode, the name Frisk still stays, if I remember right after trying it out on the Nintendo Switch.
and if the positive side of the determination soul (that cleaved itself from it’s negative determination side.) while telling Asriel that their name is “Frisk”
it could be from a timeline in the hard mode, the positive determination soul got the name Frisk from, they use the name that we give in the game, even if when we don’t use the name at all when we first play undertale, it could still be that way even if we do or don’t decide to play hard mode by naming the fallen human Frisk.
 Flowey the one in the Hard Mode Timeline, might not even be Asriel, or at least have his memories.
there is some secrets about both Underale and Deltarune, we have yet to find out.
we know that the red soul in the game isn’t really determination, it is only called that by fans, and the “Determination” is just a name given by the royal scientist.
I believe the red soul’s true trait name, is compassion.
if we keep to our trait, we will befriend the monsters and leave the underground.
but if we don’t stick to that trait, we will end up meeting the Faux-Chara.
who will then try to get us to not only give them our Soul, but destroy the timeline.
it’s okay that no one agrees about these theories, but I still believe that the true Chara’s Soul is in the true lab, and the Chara we meet (even if I haven’t got that far in Geno Route.) is a fake and is really the negative determination soul.
once more no one has to agree with these theories, and that’s okay.
even if it might take some time for the next chapter of Deltarune to be released, I know it will be worth the wait.
we just need to give it time.
anyway, that is all I have to say about those theories.
see ya later and keep safe everybody.

Chapter 31
Word count: 2,369
Warning: Death
This was honestly the first time Anton has ever visited Gaster's labs. He had let Grillby try to close the bar down for what could be called “a day” and now was a bit lost on where to go. Gaster wasn't anywhere in the first part of the lab so Anton was left to find his way through himself. He had no idea where the scientist could be since hd never asked Gaster about visiting in the first place. Anton honestly should have done so, especially for this reason but then he wouldn't be here at all since Gaster would just shoo him away. It's been a month since he went to the bar so Anton wanted to he able to see him.
He was just waiting for an elevator to take him to another part of this labyrinth and when he walked around he hoped he'd just turn the corner to see Gaster there. That didn't happen though, instead running into one of the “helpers” or mini assistants that he had to ask for help. That's when he was finally able to find Gaster in the lower lab but not how he expected nor how he hoped to.
It looked like a tornado had been repeated in a crazy experiment and was allowed to roam the room, though that was probably the most normal thing since Gaster had those helpers organize his paperwork for a reason. The worst part was the machine with singe marks on and around it, a few papers near causing smoke to full the room since they were singed red from where they were slowing burning to ash.
Luckily those papers were isolated and just burnt away. Anton could see Gaster trying to salvage what he can though and muttering plenty of curses under his breath. Anton would've just waited until Gaster gave up since there wasn't many papers left burning and he wouldn't mix well with already burning things in this situation.
Anton quickly took notice when he saw blood running down Gaster's skull and made his way over to the other fast enough to catch him by surprise. It was clear the skeleton didn't know the elemental was there at first because when Anton grabbed him by the arm and pull him closer to inspect the wound, he looked very startled. The blood wasn't from a spider webs of cracks at least. Instead it just branched into a new line at the top of his head. Anton was relieved it wasn't anything extremely bad.
'Thank goodness you're okay.’ He writes once he pulls away from the other. Gaster takes a moment to comprehend, even blinking a few times before just nodding and going back to salvaging. Anton had to tap his shoulder to get his attention again. 'You should treat the crack though. How did it happen?’
“I, uh…” Gaster seemed to be a slight mess as he picked up papers and thought as he did so. “It must've been when I hit my head earlier while working.” Anton could already guess Gaster would say he never noticed by being busy.
‘Well where's your medical supplies then?’ Anton was glad that Gaster just told him and soon he was back with them. Gaster had already salvaged what he could and was trying to decipher as well as organize.
Anton tapped Gaster again to get his attention and showed him he got the supplies. Gaster sighed but just let him so he just read some of the pages and kept still. It wasn't long before Gaster was good to go.
“Thanks…” He mutters before seriously going back to work. Anton watches him for a few moments before tapping Gaster's shoulder for the third time now. The skeleton looked up once again before staring in some sort of confusion. Anton had his arms open for a hug. Gaster paused for a moment, then two, before he moved to give an awkward hug to the other. It was only awkward on his side though, for Anton just embraced him warmly as a “you're welcome”.
The hug was definitely a warm one, Gaster could vouch for that, but it also gave a numbing and fuzzy feeling. It felt like the ache from his stress was just leaking out of his bones and allowing for him to relax. It was enough to have his thoughts drift a little too much and cause hum to start dozing off from his energy feeling sapped. He wanted to refuse it but didn't feel like moving so he was eventually accepting sleep.
Anton had to pick him up to carry him out of the room in attempt to get him to his room. The elemental ended up bumping into Sans on the way out, startling both at first. Once Sans noticed who it was and what happened, he quickly just relaxed.
“Looks like I'll have to turn Chara away today.” He says with a soft smile. “This way.” He directs Anton to Gaster's room so the flame's arms were great when they got there. Once they were, he was able to happily sign to Sans.
'Thank you. He looked like he needed rest honestly so…’ He smiles back at Sans. Though he felt bad that the royal family's child was being turned away now, he was still happy Gaster got the rest he needed anyways.
“I get that. Thanks.” Sans says before starting to leave with a wave. “Visit another time. The kid can do the same.” Anton nodded with a mental “gotcha” before glancing back at Gaster. He smiled even more at the sight of his resting friend before leaving to make his way through the labs once again.
Gaster got his recommended sleep time on complete accident thanks to Anton. He just woke up tiredly when Sans told him Chara was back again. Gaster was reluctant from the tiredness he felt but went up to greet them anyways.
“Ouch.” Chara comments as they eye the bandaging as soon as Gaster walks into the room. The skeleton just rolls his eyes and exhales a sharp sigh.
“As you can tell, there are some setbacks as it sometimes happens to be with things like these.” Gaster states calmly. Chara seems upset but doesn't say anything on why exactly.
“I bet getting a crack in your skull really hurts.” They say, as if adding to their previous comment. “How did you get them, if you don't mind sharing?”
Gaster pauses a moment to think before choosing to respond. “An incident in the first place I lived and in a fight with your previous human leader. The two seem to affect my vision quite a bit.” Chara eyes him for a moment after he finishes answering, some kind of emotion flashing in their eyes.
“I guess that's how you knew f- Chatch.” They close their eyes for a moment and cross their arms. Gaster doesn't take their mistake lightly.
“I feel as if I've known and been affect by him since forever, even now.” He states with a surprisingly calm tone as he looks down at the other. “I'm sure you feel no different.”
Chara glares a bit then shrugs. “I do know he had a plan to take you all out while while you are all trapped in a cage, allowing no human to go down so no monster can harvest a soul.”
“I can see you defied that.” Gaster says quickly before eyeing them questionably. What they said would concern any monster of course.
“Yeah, but I also made sure he couldn't carry out that plan.” Chara says sharply. Something about the emotion in their eyes caught Gaster's attention but he couldn't see what exactly since the teen was already leaving. Gaster just watched them go and sighed once again before heading back down to the deeper labs.
“So what do you plan to do about the machine? Keep trying?” Sans asks curiously while in the elevator. Gaster thinks about it as he closes his eye sockets.
“Keep trying, of course. Though I may have to advice Chara to also try to change their soul themselves.” He says and walks out of the elevator. Sans listens and follows obviously. “It may be hard for them to manage to change, especially as quick as they want.”
“Yeah but it's a plan B. Best to be at least thought of as soon as possible.” Sean's comments as he smiles a bit in attempt to be reassuring. “Do you want me to tell them?”
“Do what you wish.” Gaster responds as the two walk into the revival room and stop. The Royal Scientist stares at the machine with a deep frown for a moment. He hated the waiting it caused but there was nothing he could do about it. Sans just silently decided his next mood as he worriedly watched Gaster.
“Got it.” Sans mutters before looking at the machine himself.
“Five months.” Gaster suddenly says, off topic. Sans nods and looks over at the other again.
“Time sure has flown by when we got busy. The project is at least good for that.” He says before walking off with a wave. “I'll take care of it acter month six as we discussed still.”
“Oh I'll make sure you do.” Gaster purposely says with sharpness. He already dealt with one kid. A younger one would be worse.
After another month of Chara and Anton visiting the labs, Gaster pretty much gave up. His progress sas slowing down by then anyways. He thought he got it working right at one point but it seemed to have no effect when tested. That caused research to be strained.
“Don't rely on it to do something stupid and fix it later.” Gaster had commented on the soul's power of resetting before basically telling Chara to go fix themself by themself. They weren't too happy but just went away to do so. They only came back for a camera and some tapes, once belonging to the king and queen, with Asriel.
Months passed without Gaster realizing since then. One time he had to treat Asgore since he got poisoned from eating flowers by accident. Gaster couldn't say how long ago that was though. He just knows at one point Chara snuck down to “secretly” put back the camera and tapes. Gaster never cared to confront them on why or anything though. Why did it matter? Maybe the two teens got bored of it.
Chara got quickly sick after that. It must've been a coincidence but while he checked up on Chara it didn't seem that eat. While their symptoms seemed a worse version of Asgore's, their traits overall had also dropped significantly, the signs of a weakening soul. They still were determined for the most of it but it was clear they weren't going to bounce back from this unless lucky. It caused Gaster to arrange a quick meeting with the king.
“If they do not make it in the end, we can at least preserve their soul and use it for getting out of here.” Gaster states, maybe too blunt for Asgore's liking. His face looks full of grief after all as he didn't answer. “For them. At least think about it so we can have permission to preserve the soul.”
“I'll think on it…” Asgore finally mutters before leaving the room as quickly as he came.
A short and quick meeting but it was to be expected. Asgore didn't want go talk about it more than he had to. He eventually did after to it though after watching Chara's health decline more. Gaster then could attach a monitor to page him in case something happens and they end up dying unnoticed so hd can collect the soul as soon as possible.
It did its job, making Gaster's pager go off when the time finally came. The scientist rushed out with his equipment to contain the soul as soon as possible but it would reveal to be a fruitless attempt. When he got there, Chara was very much gone of course without a soul to recover.
There were unfortunately no traces of why their body was even gone or where it was. They wouldn't dust like monsters or their found family anyways.
Chara knew where their body was though.
It felt like they were swimming as they looked from a view that seemed higher than what they were normally use to. Asriel's voice spoke like he was in their head yet seemed to slightly echo as of far away. They sounded scared but Chara just pushed them to walk forward with the plan no matter how much he said he didn't like it. They couldn't just turn back now.
Chara was the one mostly in control because of that way of thinking. Each step felt like it was their own but they couldn't tell if Ariel felt the same way.
Every time Chara chooses to look down they see their own poisoned corpse and Asriel would shake terribly. Even if they died by painful poisoning, Chara's body looked peaceful in Asriel's arms. They just decided not to look until they got to the village.
It was quiet at first when they got there but screams were quick to sound off even so. Chara expected it to be. It looked nothing like vicious murder but who could care to look longer than a second with a monster in front of them?
Chara wanted to quickly find humans to pick out and take the souls of but their feet didn't want to move when they did. Asriel's cries echoed badly within Chara's head as things became fuzzy again. After a few painful hits from the humans while Asriel's barely reacted from the mixed reactions, they were turning back to Mount Ebott. Chara screamed in frustration but it didn't change anything, besides add a headache, no matter how hard they cried.
“I'm sorry. I can't do this. I'm so sorry.” Asriel's voice whispered yet it sounded clear to Chara. When they got close to the mountain, they didn't push the monster any further.
It wouldn't be long until they die together among golden flowers and in front of their heartbroken parents.

All-Stars -Story Mode- [CHAPTER 1]
Here is another chapter from my Google Doc, enjoy.
-Chapter 1-
Frisk woke up with a splitting headache, they looked around and found themselves in a field, yellow tall grass, cherry blossom trees were seen scattered across the field and found themselves on a bed of golden flowers then looked up at the clouded skies, they then weakly stood up and walked through the field till they found an empty road.
*You found yourself in a field with no one by your side, you ran till you see the road.
*It looked beaten but you decide you need to find any signs of life as you kept running for the town that looked like it had been abandoned for some time.
*Looked 80 years old or so.
*You looked around but no one is there
*But you stayed DETERMINED.
Frisk ran on the highway to the town that looked abandoned but as they reached the city, it looked like it had been through a bloody war but no bodies are in sight, being cautious they continued on til they find a convent store.
They gone in and find it completely empty of life but it appeared that someone had searched through it and bullet shells on the floor. They looked and saw a trail of crimson water that leads to the restroom but they immediately knew what’s in there and decided NOT to search further answers to the trail of blood.
*You gone in the store and looked around and there are signs of life
*But you decided not to look further judging by the trail of blood on the floor leading to the restroom.
*Yet, still you are DETERMINED to find your friends.
Frisk looked around and found a backpack, they took it and looked around the store for supplies.
They got water, food, band aids, blanket, lamp, first aid kit and a knife as they put the supplies in the backpack then go to the register, they left the money on the counter in case the owner of the store would come back then left.
They walked to an old neighborhood, they didn’t how long they walked but it was an hour they had thought. They then get the dreaded feeling of they are not alone in this block but they had to press on to the nearby house.
They knocked on the door and it’d opened by itself due to Frisk knocking, they wondered in and swore they saw someone in the hallway.
*After you entered the house, you saw an old man with a red scarf,
*You ran to catch up to him but he suddenly vanished after entering a bedroom.
*As you wished you would be in Toriel’s arms for comfort.
*Your heart is filled with DETERMINATION.
They then exited the bedroom and into the bathroom to wash up, they really needed to keep their mind off of this mess they’re in.
As thoughts gently flooded their head with their friends and family:
Toriel
Sans
Papyrus
Undyne
Alphys
Mettaton
And Asgore.
While they washed up their face in a sink, they looked up and see themselves in the mirror, their hair is messy and they looked tired.
*Well, you looked like you’ve seen better days, haven’t you?
Frisk is worried for them and feared the worse than _ _ _ _ _ themself, they shook their head in denial, they can’t be on another genocide route… can they?
They then turned away from the mirror and walked on out of the bathroom, they looked around then walked back downstairs then they were greeted with an unusual sight:
Tumblr media
Two other kids but with a cup and a mug for heads, one of them is a cup and the other has a mug, they had straws in their head, one with red and the other blue. They looked equally confused as Frisk.
‘’Oh… Uh… Sorry, we didn’t mean to intrude. Do you live here?’’ the Mug asked, in winch Frisk shook their head, then cup boy said ‘’W-well, does your parents know where you are? Maybe we can-‘’ before being interrupted by Frisk shrugged, meaning they don’t know.
The two cups then looked at the opened door and closed it as the mug boy then asked ‘’Did they see you? Did it saw you?’’
It? What did they mean by ‘’it’’? then Frisk is pulled by the hand by the cup as he said ‘’Bendy’s coming! We need to go!’’
‘’G-go? Go where-?’’
‘’We need to go now!’’ The cup boy said as he leaded both Frisk and mug out of the house through the door to the backyard, Frisk then begins to wonder if these two are brothers.
And then so they asked that.
*You asked if they are both brothers and how they got here.
‘’Of course!’’ Cup boy answered, ‘’But, we didn’t know how we got here after we found ourselves in the park but all we do remember is that we were suddenly been pulled into a portal then nothing else happened after it went black.’’ The mug explained.
*Through a portal? Are they from the different timeline? you need to find out more on what the heck is going on. So you decided to introduce yourself.
‘’…Frisk? That’s a nice name. I’m Cuphead and this is Mugman.’’ The now named cup replied as they hopped over the fence and run through the neighbor’s backyard and got out through the fount gate and into the streets again.
They then walked with caution as they walked through the empty neighborhood with strange monsters lurking around and leaving behind a trail of tar-like liquid. As they wandered through the strange terrain, Frisk can’t understand how all of this is happening.
‘’There’s a way out of here I’m sure of it.’’ Mugman said as Cuphead readies the finger gun when these creatures attack if they spotted them.
*You decided to ask them if they know what’s going on.
‘’I’m not sure, a part of me is saying that this is The Devil’s doing but the other is telling me there’s something much worse than him.’’ Cuphead answered as he continued on point as Mugman stated ‘’We are just as confused as you when we first got here Frisk.’’
Then a strange noise filled the air, they all ran for the nearby bush and hid it as an aircraft lands on the middle of the street with hissing noise of a steam engine then armored soldier with ominous eyes piled out of it with guns drawn as they scanned the area around them.
Then one of them walked out of the aircraft, his armored suit appeared to be colonel as they observe the area.
Then, 3 men came out of the fog with the same armored suits as them as the colonel held his hand up for his men to lower their weapons as one of them come up.
‘’Sir, we have looked everywhere as you ordered.’’ One of the soldier reported to the colonel, as he turned to face him and asked ‘’Have you found her?’’
‘’I am afraid not, we were looking till hostile beings had came and they had…’’
‘’They had what?’’
‘’You can’t even believe this after what we saw, they weren’t alive but somehow still walking on both walks despite the number of injuries that had been inflicted in them. They even taken some of our troops down and had begun to devour them like they are cannibals. Their eyes were glowing…’’ the soldier explained ‘’Yet, we did found Mrs. Pauling but she got away after we were ambushed.’’
‘’She hasn’t gone far,’’ Colonel said, ‘’We will take her in, alive or dead but if you do encountered those undead beings again; Orders are shoot to kill.’’
Frisk, Cuphead and Mugman, who happened to overheard the conversion behind the soldier and the colonel, all turned to face each other in horror after colonel had ordered his men to kill on sight.
‘’We’ve gotta get out of here and fast!’’ Cuphead whispered to them who they all nodded in agreement then slowly make their way through bush but Mugman made a mistake by stepping on a stick and breaking it.
That alerted the colonel as he turns his head towards, that alerted the soldiers as he took the rifle from one of them and aims it at the bush, scanning for anything with legs.
The trio stood stone cold and stayed in dead silence as they realized they were spotted as they watched the colonel’s movements.
Deep down, they knew that he knew they were in the bush as he lowered his weapon while he kept his eyes trained on the bush as one of the soldiers asked ‘’Radec…?’’
‘’It was nothing,’’ Colonel Radec said then continued ‘’If there are anyone that is still alive, bring them in.’’.
They all nodded as Radec turned away from the bush then signals his men to go around the perimeter.
They all go as they draw their weapons out with caution as the Colonel walked away as he slowly disappeared as the aircraft took off.
After they are out of sight, they all got out of the bushes in fear, ‘’Golly…’’ Mugman said, ‘’I thought he was going to gut us for sure Cups…’’
‘’I thought the same thing bro…’’ Cuphead said, turned to Frisk and said ‘’B-but what do they mean if they didn’t found her? And they said that this woman’s name is Mrs. Pauling. Why is that important?’’
Frisk places their finger under their chin and wondered for a moment as they paste back and forth on what they want from Pauling.
*You pasted back and forth as you wondered who Mrs. Pauling is.
*The colonel now known as Mael Radec with his men are here and deep down, you knew that he knows you were there.
*Best to find somewhere safe and out of sight first with your new-found friends with a DETERMINED heart.
Frisk suggested the idea of finding somewhere safe to the Cup Brothers, ‘’Somewhere safe? From those guys?’’ Mugman asked.
Frisk nodded and said that they had never been this neighborhood before but asked if they knew somewhere on the way here.
‘’Well…’’ Cuphead begins, ‘’There is one place I know.’’
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
They wondered street by street all the while staying out of sight from the Helghan Military soldiers as they continued to wander endlessly till they found the safe place, an elderly home that looked like it had been abandoned and no one haven’t visited there for years but they don’t take any chances so they go in.
Thankfully, they managed to get in just before one of them spotted them, Cuphead, Mugman and Frisk hid behind the rubble as two Helghan soldiers looked at the old aged home then continued on with their way.
Cuphead sighs in relief as he patted his chest while Mugman looked around the area as Frisk looked as well.
There are tables, some toppled over while most didn’t, couches been covered in dust, rooms that are locked but some of them are unlocked and a grand piano in the center with the varadas of 3 floors looking overhead.
‘’Y-you sure this is a safe place Cups?’’ Mugman asked, ‘’Of course!’’ Cuphead answered ‘’Besides, they can’t find us here and they did say that there are people that had gone to cannibals or some plague had turned them into one and they are undead things with glowing eyes. What are they called?’’
*……Zombies?
‘’Zombies?’’ Mugman questioned as he turned to his brother ‘’These monsters have a name?’’
*You nodded as you explained that the living dead is famous in folklore stories, movies and games alike, they had one goal in mind and that is to eat flesh from another being.
*You had also explained that they can create new zombies if they bite or scratch someone to spread their virus.
*But there is a cure for it.
‘’Well…’’ Cuphead said rather nervously, Mugman looked at his brother as he had heard the fear in his voice and knew this isn’t like him, it reminded him of a time like how he gotten them into a huge trouble by losing the bet to the Devil and they had begged and pleaded for their lives til Devil showed them mercy by showing them there is one way to repay the debt and that is collecting the soul contracts from his runaway debtors.
Clank!
They all turned their heads towards the direction of the noise and find that a can is rolling by from the hallway as the Cup brothers had their fingers pointed at the hall as light of magic appeared on their fingertips.
‘’H-hey! Whoever you are…’’ Mugman began, ‘’You better come out and show yourself!’’ Cuphead finished as kept their index fingers pointed at the hall as they stood protectively in front of Frisk.
Then a cartoon black and white wolf wearing overalls and had a backpack comes walking out of the hallway with a surprised look on his face as the trio looked surprised but relieved that it’s a zombie or one of those Helghan soldiers.
‘’Oh thank goodness, we could’ve killed you!’’ Mugman exclaimed, ‘’Y-yeah, but are you alright, did they saw you? Did they hurt you?’’ Cuphead asked worryingly towards the wolf.
The wolf did nothing but shrugged and shook his head no as a response, Frisk looked at the wolf with curious eyes.
*You asked the wolf of his name.
*The wolf replied that his name is Boris, Boris the Wolf
*You then greeted Boris with a smile
‘’Boris the wolf huh?’’ Cuphead asked ‘’It’s nice to meet you.’’
‘’It’s nice to meet you too.’’ Mugman said ‘’Don’t mind me asking but are you hiding from the soldiers and zombies as well?’’ he then asked to Boris.
*Boris nodded as he wrote on the floor with a stick that
*he and his friend had found a bunker in this very building.
*So, they thought they might use it as a safe house and
*Try to wait it out till it blows over.
‘’A bunker? As a safe house?’’ Cuphead asked, Boris nodded his head as Mugman said ‘’There was a bunker here? Can it still be safe for us to hide, hopefully your friend wouldn’t mind us being there.’’
Boris looked down for a moment then nodded his head yes and ushered them to follow him there.
And then so they did, they followed Boris to one of the bedrooms that is badly damaged and there’s a hatch on the floor that is disguised as a rug. He walked over to it and opened it, revealing a ladder leading down below.
*Boris ushers them to go down the ladder.
*You, Cuphead and Mugman are nervous now that you had to go down.
*But Boris had said that not to worry and there’s no one that knows they were down
*in the bunker after they found it in the first place.
*With you being the DETERMINED one, you go down the ladder first.
*With Cuphead, Mugman & Boris followed suit as the wolf quickly yet quietly shuts the
*hatch above him as he was the last one to climb down with them.
They climbed down the ladder till they reached the ground as lamb posts lighting the short hallway to the door.
‘’Soooo…’’ Cuphead began to say, ‘’How did you and your friend end up here Boris?’’.
*Boris said that he didn’t remember how they got here,
*They were at the studio that’s been abandoned for a long time
*During the 1940’s
*And the studio is the sole locution of the Ink Machine.
*He does remember that he was in the safe house when everything went black.
‘’Oh.’’ ‘’Ahh.’’ ‘’I see.’’ The brothers said in different unison as Frisk nodded.
*You understood that Boris and his friend had no idea either on
*How they got here.
*Then you clearly can remember one thing:
*…
*When you were in bed and Toriel had baked you the Butterscotch-cinnamon pie
*Then everything around you went dark as night.
‘’And that’s all you can remember from that?’’ Mugman asked, Frisk nodded in response. ‘’Wait, I…’’ Cuphead said ‘’I think we can remember it clearly now…’’
‘’O-of course…’’ Mugman began ‘’B-before we came here… We were in Inkwell…’’
They said as the flashback began…
                                        ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
                                                 -Inkwell Isles-
                                                   [Flashback]
The two brothers are playing around under the watchful eye of Elder Kettle after the Devil’s defeat just 4 months ago. They had saved the isles’ inhabitants from the demon from Hell itself.
Everything had gone back to normal after that, what’s even more than that; it was even better than what it was before.
They had befriended their foes even after they had gotten the Soul Contracts after they had to beat the crap out of them for them.
They are deemed as Heroes of Inkwell Isles after these events.
Yet these two had gotten into trouble just recently through.
They were fighting against 5 of the Devils after they just gone out of nowhere when they are visiting Cagney Carnation on the following 4th month.
They had failed to noticed that everything around Cuphead, Mugman and Cagney had suddenly paused, paused like someone had hit the pause button. No one can’t move until a portal opened up and sucked not the two brothers but the Isles’ residents as well.
The last thing they remembered was Mugman screaming
‘’Help! Help us! Someone please…!!’’
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
‘’And… That’s all we could remember from that.’’ Cuphead finished. ‘’As much as it relates so, our hands are tied.’’ Mugman said as they reached the door that looked similar to a vault in a bank.
Boris goes up to it and does the rhythmic knocking on it.
Clang, clang, bonk, bonk, bang, bonk, bang, clang
‘’…Boris?’’ a voice came from the other side of the door, ‘’You’re alright! Have you brought back supplies?’’ it continued.
‘’Please do the knocking if you do.’’ The voice commanded.
Boris does the rhythmic knocking but only three times now.
Clang, bang, clang
‘’Oh good! Golly I was really losing hope for a moment there. I’ll open the door.’’ The voice said as the door slowly began to open and screeched it’s scream as it opened completely.
Frisk was thrilled to see safety but the two cups screamed as they saw the all too familiar demon made out of ink with shoes just black as his inked body and white bowtie as they pointed their fingers at him.
‘’IT’S HIM!! IT’S BENDY!! WHY IS HE-!?’’ Cuphead screamed until he was silenced by Boris shushing him with his finger as Bendy shook his hands. ‘’Hey! It wasn’t me!’’
‘’But you tried to kill us with ink!’’ Mugman exclaimed as Bendy insisted ‘’I didn’t! I wasn’t in control of my anger!’’
*That’s when you had enough and screamed for everyone to stop winch they did.
*You then told them that it’s not the right time to argue because that’s not gonna
*go nowhere.
‘’Frisk has got a point on the argument there.’’ Mugman admitted it, ‘’It’s not gonna go nowhere if we continued fighting.’’
‘’…Okay Mugs, both of you are right. But still, Bendy is a devil!’’ Cuphead said as he lands his eyes on Bendy.
‘’That’s demon to you cupface!’’ Bendy jeered back at Cuphead who glared at him as Frisk shook their head in annoyance.
*You got annoyed over these two fighting.
*Then you told them if they want to survive,
*they’re going to have to share the bunker
*and wait till this problem blows over.
*Even if they had time, they could be able to
*figure out what’s going on but calmly.
‘’Okay, okay.’’ Cuphead said with annoyance had also toned his voice as he turned away from the Ink Demon who did the same with a hmpth.
