Resource: extracted ts3 fabrics
Tumblr media
I extracted a bunch of fabrics from ts3 a while ago to use them on clothing textures, to give them a little more texture / depth, y'know? Lately I realized I could share it in case they'd be useful for anyone else 😊
They're pretty well-sized for use, and they're of course, seamless. I literally just extracted them from ts3 so no need to credit me or anything.

Hello friends. Would you like to meet the antagonist of Faust's route? The dastardly entity responsible for untold pain and misery, for putting our intrepid couple through the metaphorical wringer? The arch-enemy of mankind for centuries??
(spoilers behind the cut)
Tumblr media
Here you go! Yersinia pestis, or Y. pestis to its friends, in all its gram-negative, electron scanned, color enhanced glory.
Aww, but Mrs O, you say, it's so cute! Look at its widdle fimbriae waving hewwo! Its pastel pink Lisa Frank inspired palette!
But don't be fooled! This tiny cold-blooded killer is responsible for more deaths than possibly any other infectious agent in the history of humankind - we all know it as the bubonic plague. The Black Death. It's cut down hundreds of millions of people over the course of human history, and it is still a threat today.
Transmitted to humans primarily by the bite of fleas, Y. pestis is a nasty character - without treatment, mortality rates upon infection are 30% - 90%. It sets up shop in a nearby lymph node, gets busy, and the resulting damage causes tissues to die. Victims tend to develop large, swollen, and painful lymph nodes called buboes, which is where the illness gets the name 'bubonic plague'.
One thing to note though, for Faust's route, is that while we generally think of this type of plague as THE plague...there are two other forms an infection with Y. pestis can take. A septicemic infection, where the bacteria enter the blood stream rather than the lymph nodes and which is almost always fatal, and a pneumonic version. This one here is the stuff of epidemiology nightmares. It often is the result of inhaling airborne droplets from another infected individual, and it can spread from person to person very easily unlike the usual bubonic form which requires bodily contact or a bite from an infected flea. It causes fevers, weakness, and violently severe coughing, and without antibiotics is nearly 100% fatal in a frighteningly short period of time - most victims are dead within mere days. Sometimes hours.
The first major recorded outbreak of the bubonic plague was the Plague of Justinian, which began about 1,500 years ago in 541 CE and ravaged the Sasanian and Byzantine empires. It's estimated that the plague resulted in anywhere from 15 to 100 million deaths, up to 40% of the population of Constantinople at the time, and some historians believe people were dying at a rate of 5,000 per day in the capital city.
The second plague epidemic, the one many people are more familiar with, was the one we refer to as the Black Death. This epidemic began raging across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia in the late 1330s, with Europe being hit particularly hard. By the time it was over Europe would see its population cut between 30% and 60%, and the Middle East losing about a third of its people as well. Numbers are difficult to estimate but they range from 75 -200 million dead.
There is, however, a third plague epidemic, although not as well known. In the 18th century the plague made a resurgence in SW China, remaining somewhat localized until the mid 19th century when it spread to Hong Kong and from there globally. There were outbreaks in the United States, India, many African countries, SE Asian countries, Russia, South America, the Caribbean, and most importantly for our story purposes - Europe. The largest outbreak was in Lisbon, but there were many smaller pockets of infection in various cities across the continent.
This was around the time the plague bacterium got its scientific name, Yersinia pestis, because of this man - a secondary character in our vampire love story, albeit with a slightly different name:
Tumblr media
Say hello to Alexandre Yersin, a Swiss-French doctor and scientist.
Keenly interested in bacteriology, in 1886 he studied in Paris where Louis Pasteur was doing work in microbiology and worked on antiserum for rabies and antitoxin for diphtheria, two other famous scourges. (Antiserum, in the briefest of explanations, is basically a way to transfer antibodies from someone/something exposed to an infectious agent to a different person, thereby triggering the recipients immune system earlier and more vigorously EDITED TO ADD: this also applies to venom and this is actually how antivenom is made as well!)
In 1894, he was sent to Hong Kong to investigate the plague outbreak and it was here that he identified the bacteria responsible, the one that now bears his name, along with confirmation of its transmission route via rodents. (A Japanese scientist in Hong Kong at the same time, Kitasato Shibasaburou, independently identified the bacterium almost simultaneously as well, but because his documentations were not as clear it is Yersin who is generally credited with the initial find)
Yersin spent the next few years continuing his studies of the plague, traveling back to Paris in 1895 to develop the first anti-plague serum. It was the work of scientists like him, and so many others at this time, that paved the way for modern medicine and a path towards eradicating the diseases that have held us in their skeletal grip for so much of mankind's history.
...And perhaps, in the world of Ikevamp, that path owes just a little bit to a certain bespectacled German priest.

BL ~ Drama Asks
Tagged by @biwichapas over two weeks ago (!) but thank you for thinking of me!
1. If you had to watch one drama forever what would it be?
This is too hard...maybe one of either Bad Buddy, To My Star (1&2), or HIStory 3: Trapped.
2. If you could change the ending of a drama which one would it be?
I have to say HIStory 3: MODC, of course, but maybe controversially I'd change He's Coming to Me. Hear me out: I cried. I cried SO MUCH when I thought Mes and Thun weren't going to get a HEA. I mean, it made sense... Mes was a ghost and Thun a human...how would this work? But the series handled that journey of grief really well so by the end I could accept it. BUT then they brought Mes back. Now, it would have worked if either a) he didn't come back at all and Thun could move on, fallen in love with someone else, and forever savoured that memory, or b) if Mes had come back as a human again - then they could have had a proper life together. As it was, coming back as a ghost still, there is an inevitability that their time together will end at some point when Mes does have to leave. I don't know... I was left unsatisfied because it was only a HFN.
3. Name your favorite drama and tell who your favorite character was.
The series currently top of my top ten list is Bad Buddy...so I should say that. Favourite character...ah this is hard...Pran? Maybe...
4. Name a drama you dropped within the first few episodes ~ we all have at least one!
Tharntype 2 (I just couldn't...), Peach of Time (partly availability issues, partly the prospect of not getting a HEA), Top Secret Together (it just got bad but I think it was a victim of the pandemic), and I have started Coffee Melody but don't know if I'll finish (It's slow and I don't have time for things that don't grab me).
5. Name a popular drama you’ve never watched and why?
I Told Sunset About You (and I Promised You the Moon). First it was availability issues, then I felt a bit wiggy about watching it because a) the characters are so young and b) I had heard it was a bit to 'real' for some people and I just didn't want to go through the angst.
6. Name a drama you regret watching.
I don't regret anything I've watched. I would have stopped watching anything that may have ended up being a 'regret watch'...so I guess I could just repeat those.
7. Name a drama you thought you’d never watch but did and did you end up liking it?
HIStory 2: Right or Wrong. It took me a while because I wasn't sure about the student/teacher dynamic...but it's a great series and the age gap/potential for abuse of power was dealt with well enough.
8. Name a pairing you want to see?
Well, I've been wanting to see Poppy in a lead for a long time and I have already suggested a polyship with him and the two Perths...but actually, thinking about it, I want to see TONG and POPPY together. Both EXCELLENT goofy/character actors but I believe could pull off something more mature and dramatic. So, yeah, them.
9. Name a pairing you didn’t think had chemistry?
Maybe controversial but I don't really think Jimmy and Tommy have chemistry, certainly not as Saifah and Zon in Why R U?
10. Name a pairing you have seen in another drama that you like?
I presume this means in a drama I haven't seen...but if I like the pairing I probably would have seen the series, so I don't really have an answer. Instead, I'll offer a few secondary pairings who I would like to see lead a series (the actors or the characters): Pitch and Bank from Golden Blood, Jack and Zhao Zi from HIStory 3: Trapped, and of course Ram and King from My Engineer.
Tagging @jemmo @liyazaki @taytawan @minhhyung @pranpats and @laowen if you haven't done it and feel like having a go...or anyone else who wants!

okay listen up I have a thing to say
(or don’t listen, because your life is your own and your social media experience is also your own and I love that for us, look at us making decisions based on what we want to do and what will make us happy and what is healthiest, we are doing so well)
(this post is sponsored by my prof making fun of me in front of my class for enjoying the MCU)
Why is it so bad to like things that a bunch of other people like? I get that Disney and Marvel and Star Wars, etc., are bloated and commercialized and mainstream, but they’re also fun, is the thing. At least for me. I enjoy Marvel, still. I enjoy Star Wars, still. And what is art except people making something because they like making things?
Okay, as I say this I realize that my point loses its punch with that because mainstream media can twist the motivation for making something from joy to acclaim/$$, but STILL. I LIKE the characters in the mainstream movies. I like the ones in the small indie movies, too. I enjoy both/and, and I like watching Netflix shows that a lot of other people like watching, and I like writing fanfiction about those big shows, and I like watching people analyze and enjoy the media that I’m analyzing and enjoying too.
idk. I’m not trying to defend something that shouldn’t be defended, but maybe just... joy? Joy should be allowed to exist without guilt? because so many things come with guilt and shame attached when there’s no POINT in them having that emotional price tag.
maybe this is me giving myself a solo therapy session because I feel all tender and sensitive about liking billion-dollar productions. And, look, I don’t like that they’re billion-dollar. I desperately miss the 80s and practical effects and people that look like people and PUPPETS. Good gracious I miss puppets. But at the same time I miss the days when I just had Marvel DVDs from the library and no access to the internet and I just liked watching them and thinking about the characters and writing fanfic.
blegh idk thanks for reading this if you got this far also please consider making yourself chocolate chip waffles because I did that this morning and it was magical

abelia ⇢ do you have a particular piece of jewelry you always wear or can’t part with?
I do, thank you so much for asking! This was one of the questions I was hoping to receive.
She wore a little cross of gold upon her neck, I saw it as she flew between my reason…
I have a modest gold chain I got when I worked in a jewelry store, with a tiny gold cross which I've worn since my early twenties. In part because of those lyrics (from Elton John's High Flying Bird) but also because I was once a good Catholic schoolgirl. I suppose a whisper of that upbringing remains with me.
Occasionally, I remove the chain so it doesn't get tangled in my bath pouf when I shower. A few months ago, the cross slipped off and landed somewhere on the bathroom floor, and try as I might, I couldn't find it. But I decided to continue wearing the chain, telling myself that for all intents, it was a though the cross was still there.
Amazingly, on the eve of having to vacate my home, I found a flimsy gold chain with a cross very similar to the one I'd lost (left behind by my sister when she moved out of our house years ago). I took as a sign from the universe that despite my dire situation, things would eventually work out for me, and put the new little cross on the old chain.
I also have a small gold ring with three roses etched upon it. I wear it in memory of a love that...that was only meant to be long-distance and never brought to fruition--in this lifetime around, anyway.

I want to make edits and moodboards so much, but I don't know if anyone cares or likes them, or even if anyone likes a certain theme or person I do them for😭.
I will probably do them because I enjoy it, and some I don't even post...
But yeah...

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
