...to all the lovelies whose generosity will help me keep a roof over my head (and provide a much-needed, warm comfy bed) for the coming week❣️❣️ My current tally is $260, which with a little creativity (paying my car in insurance a tad late) will suffice to keep me housed through May 4th.
I am always touched and amazed by your help ~ and how you all continue to reinforce my optimism that although I have many challenges at this stage of my life, things will eventually be alright. Please know that I love sharing this lesson with those people in need of reasons to hope, whom I encounter in my job at least several times a week. It feels like part of my purpose these days!💗💙💝
desperate times, desperate measures
Tonight is turning out to be my fifth night of sleep deprivation due to a nasty upper respiratory virus running its course through my system. Thankfully, it's not Covid (which I've already had twice), but I'm only getting about three hours of sleep each night due to excessive post nasal drip & phlegm that wakes me up from coughing and bad nausea. Unfortunately, I used up the last of my sick time to call out on Sunday (with Monday as my regular day off) and had to go back to work on Tuesday. Between the exhaustion, coughing, and nausea, it was pure misery.
If I call out again, I will reach my work limit (only 5 absences allowed in a rolling six month period) and will be subject to dismissal (sadly, that's the state of employment for most 'essential workers' in the US these days), so I'm going to have to apply for a 3-day leave of absence (minimum I can request) in order to save my job. Meaning I'll be short three days pay towards my lodging next week.
As much as I hate to ask for help once again, I have to try to raise $300 to cover the difference.

Some outfits I think book Chani would wear:
Probably something casual in the sietch. She's described as wearing loose clothes with her shoulders bare when she didn't have to worry about the loss of moisture.
These two would be for a gathering or celebration again in the desert. She'd probably use something like this initially too when Paul became emperor.
And transition to more flowy fabric with sparser details after a while depending on the occasion. Something similar to what Jessica wore, letting the fabric do the talking.
This is what I picture her golden robe dress in Dune messiah as, regal and flowy enough to hide her crysknife.
These would be throw around shawls and an overdress tunic sort of thing should she be summoned out of the blue
This would probably be something relaxed she wears with Paul in their chambers
And this would be something for when she holds court with Paul, for important guests or rivals
