You went to a Harry Styles concert???
YES, I DID, AND IT WAS THE MOST GLORIOUS NIGHT EVER!
Tumblr media
(not my pic but I'm in it - somewhere left to the yellow polka dots)
50K (!!!) people were there
and we all sang and danced for 2hrs straight (not that anyone was straight at that concert, I've never seen so many pride flags in one place, and that alone made me unbelievably happy 🥹).
Today, I have basically no voice (no calls scheduled, phew), I keep scrolling through millions of pics and videos, and I'm just so (SO) grateful that I got to have this experience. 🥹
Harry was in such a good mood, and I like to believe that he felt all the love being yelled/screamed/sung back at him. 🥰
We had a coming out (YOU GO, LISA 🏳️‍🌈), a baby gender reveal ("IT'S A GIRL!"), he counted to 20 in German (it's the little things, y'know xD), and nearing the end of the concert, he grabbed a "MY BODY MY CHOICE" sign from someone, held it up, and then placed it against the drum kit, visible to everyone for the rest of the concert. 🙌
Tumblr media
(not my pic, but that's him with the sign)
I'll admit that I wasn't a huge Harry fan before. I liked his music well enough, thought he's quite cool, adored his queer-positivity etc (and imo his sense of fashion is also something everyone should aspire to have 💯👌), but that was the extent of me being a fan of his. I didn't even plan to go to the concert initially (it was sold out so fast months ago, there wasn't much time to think about it anyway).
But then I kept seeing all the pics and vids from the earlier [European] HSLOT concerts, and I was like "I WANT THAT 🥺". Then, last Sunday (!) evening, I was lucky enough to snag a ticket someone'd returned, and so I went.
BEST. DECISION. EVER!!! It was absolutely incredible, the audience was ON FIRE, and we all kept singing at the top of our lungs throughout the concert (I'm so glad that I listened to nothing but a playlist of the HSLOT set list for the past week, I was able to keep up with all the singing and knew my lyrics 🤓).
Apparently, last night's venue's one of the largest he'll play during his tour (only Wembley's bigger, and I think the stadium in Dublin is around the same size as the one last night), and a bunch of his fans had organized a "rainbow lights project". They handed out tiny stickers and crêpe paper in rainbow colors ahead of the concert, for people to cover their flashlights, and during "Love of my Life", we held up our colored "flashlights" and projected a rainbow throughout the stadium. GOOSEBUMPS! 🥺😭
Tumblr media
(pic via OWildeLarry on Twitter) - the pic is a bit too bright (thanks, modern phone cameras xD), irl the rainbow colors were more visible. Harry noticed and thanked us mid-song. 😭
Gosh, he's so precious, I adore him. 🥺🥺🥺
Anyway, I'm definitely a HARRY FAN™ now, and the next time he's coming to Northern Germany, I'LL BE THERE! 💃
(Hopefully, Covid will be more manageable then, I was pretty much the only person wearing a mask throughout the concert - inconvenient and annoying, but I really REALLY don't want to catch Covid - and dancing/singing without a damp FFP2 mask covering half of my face would the THE DREAM 🤪)

Chicago Sparks Rambles!!!
It was so slay to meet Claire @rhythmthlef Eiffel @thedevotionaltour and Sarah @ron-do-i-get-to-sing-my-way and to ofc be with my bff Alissa @taintmansion . Everyone looked so yass and slay and our group pic got on the insta story!
Also shoutout to @churippu who was so sweet and gave us the grooviest stickers in the merch line! I can’t wait to find a place for my sparkly suit Russell.
I NEVER go crazy at merch tables and have spent months not going to the movies, buying records, or eating out, so I got… 3 t-shirts, a tote bag, socks, and the pin set 💪 I love all my swag!
ofc last year in Chicago (same venue) was a bit more subdued all around energy wise bc it was still during COVID but the crowd was great this time. I wish we’d stood earlier (seated venues are like that sometimes) but the people in the front row were up dancing like crazy the whole time and other people were dancing in the aisles!
Those first few opening songs obviously went hard but I was LIVINGGGGGG during Beaver and Ron’s piano/Stevie’s drums in Nothing Is As Good As They Say It Is were fire. And Russell’s vocals in general jesus! How do u do that dude!!!
It Doesn’t Have To Be That Way has meant a lot to me personally for various reasons - mainly, I’ve felt weird and uncool my whole life and I find my passion in meaning in making art and using that art to connect with people who DO understand me - and so Russell was just introducing it and I started crying and cried the whole song 😭
Then cut to Balls when we NEEDED to get our fist pumps on!! ✊🟢
I love that they kept Shopping Mall Of Love bc people were screaming for Ronnie like it was Beatlemania. Love that bridge clapping also!
Toughest Girl In Town had one of the coolest arrangements eva god it was beautiful. And We Go Dancing went crazyyyyyyyy like I will never be that in shape in my LIFE
Eli ate that Bon Voyage solo tf up 🎸
By MTYCTD everyone was standing and dancing and the fire alarm started going off mid song but we all just ignored it 😭😭😭 tfw they are literally hotter than your mama will ever be. And the song ends and Russell just goes [slightly bitchy voice] “okayyyyyyyy. everything’s fine, carry on as you were” fjjfjfjfjfjjd
The 1 2 3 punch of Heaven My Way This Town is always godly. I made sure to scream my lungs out during the shuffle wahhhhh.
I can’t remember at what point but like 2/3 through the set maybe? In between songs Russell just starts singing 🎶My kind of town, Chicago🎶 it was really sweet
I wish they’d done the full Gee That Was Fun but the mini version served well as a final pre encore song 🥹
I had forgotten about the rainbow lights during Baby’s so thank god I was recording wahhhhhh that song goes so hard
All That was worse than IDHTBTW like I started sobbing and couldn’t stop until they left the stage 😭 They just mean so much to me!!! And Ron made a lil speech thanking us and said “I know it sounds hackneyed but at this point in the night I can’t avoid sounding hackneyed” and I mean ofc they’d say this but they said “best Chicago visit yet” which was nice
The standing ovation after All That and the pic was like 3-4 minutes long and Alissa commented on it and Claire just went “I could go all night baby!” which like so true
Russell made 🫶🫰 at the audience during this standing o and Alissa just screamed “KPOP KING !”
I stood on my chair and still didn’t get in the pic but Ron was technically on top of me so 💪😌
Random asides: got so many compliments on my Ron outfit! Sparks fans are the nicest! When our group met in the Dunkin a nice blonde woman walking outside flashed me a thumbs up from the window and then she was front row. We actually chatted after and she said she was considering going to Milwaukee last minute. Girl do it!!!! And when I got to merch and said “okay let’s start with the tote bag bc i’m gonna go a little crazy” the person in the left half of the line laughed and was encouraging lol.
Alissa and I waited outside for about half an hour and I guess the guys had been whisked away long beforehand 😅 but we said hi to Evan and Max and they were super nice!
One of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Once of the most meaningful and profound. So glad I have a favorite band. So glad I have great friends to do it all with. Gee That Was Fun (real)
Sparkle on ✨

Seven Months Later
Had it not been for Cindy checking on you, as well as Jake's parents still being there for you, you don't know what you would have done all these months that Jake left you heartbroken.
You had reached out to him because he always was going to be a huge part of your life. The first time was to wish him a happy new year and there was no reply from him.
The silence on his end continued when you texted to wish him a happy birthday.
The love you felt for him overshadowed any anger and pain. But those two still remained, yet you learned to live with them and didn’t let them control you.
“How about we all head out today? We’ll go for some drinks and dancing. No boyfriends and no talk of guys. Just us girls. We’ll make it about you… Hmm. It’s your half birthday… I’ll buy you half a drink!” Cindy tells you.
Deep inside you want to say no, but you know you can’t stay forever avoiding going to places that remind you of Jake. “Okay. Let’s go. We’ll have fun. It’s been a stressful week at work so I need a little break.”
Tumblr media
It was the first time in a few months that you truly felt like yourself again. You decided to take up your friends for a night of dancing and drinks.
While you were starting to return to your jovial self, the pain of the breakup still lingered. As you got dressed, you turned to your best friend and admitted "I've been tryna be the bigger person but it's hard when I've been feelin' so small... And nobody knows that I'm still a... I'm still a mess for Jake."
"That's why we're going to have a blast today. Was it dumb of him to leave you? Totally! Will he ever be happy without you? I doubt it! But tonight is about you and your new promotion!"
"If you're hinting at me to pay for your drinks, you are mistaken," you say laughing.
Tumblr media
Lost in the music, you only focus on how the beat and the alcohol is making you feel. Floating. Weightless.
That is until you turn around and across the crowd your eyes fall on a pair of green eyes. Green eyes that promised you the world but then shattered it. The last thing you expected on your night out was to run into Jake at the club. Much less with his new Naval Academy girlfriend.
You look at her and her beautiful smile. She was clearly a 10. Heck she was a 15 with how she moved and the fact that she was training to be a pilot just like Jake. Your eyes shift to him and you see him gesturing to the group he was with and they start making their way over to you.
‘Please don't say, "Hi", I don't wanna be rude... She seems so sweet and I'm tryna be cool,’ you repeat to yourself over and over.
Jake and his fellow aviators finally reach you. “Hey guys. I wanted to introduce you to some of my old… friends.”
You try not to cringe at the use of old friends. Your momma didn’t raise a fool though, you smile widely and greet them all in kind.
He introduces you and your friends to his fellow aviators. Then he introduces them to you all. “This is Javy… Brigham… and this pretty girl is Evelyn.”
Small talk begins between everyone at the table. You focus on your drink and only give the minimal participation. You work hard at avoiding looking at Jake unless it was absolutely necessary. The wounds that were closed and started healing burst open when, out of the corner of your eye, you saw Jake smile as he wrapped his arm around Evelyn’s waist and kiss her temple.
You felt the shaken breath leave as you turned away. And as if the world wanted to punish you for trying to be happy as Jake obviously was, the DJ decides to play a slow song. “This one's for you couples out enjoying your night.”
Jake’s eyes lock with yours when the opening notes to “Speechless” by Dan + Shay start playing. “Oh! I love this song! Let’s go dance it Jake,” Evelyn exclaims as she drags him to the dance floor.
“Shit,” Cindy mutters next to you. She knew that this was your song. The song you and Jake always would dance to. Seeing him dance with another girl, what once was, your song… It made you feel less than wanted. It left you speechless… in the worst way possible. After throwing back your whiskey, you grab your belongings and make your way out the door.
Tumblr media
You find yourself making your way to the karaoke bar a few doors down from the club. You sit at the bar and order a couple more rounds of whiskey before stumbling over to the computer to sign up to be next to sing.
Despite the alcohol in your system, you were aware of your surroundings. You were aware of when your friends had entered the karaoke bar and sat at a table waiting for you to come back to them.
What you weren't aware of was that the same group of naval aviators had also followed you.
The emcee calls out your name. You were glad you picked the Elise Lieberth cover of "Holding Out For a Hero". Taking a deep breath, you close your eyes to calm your nerves before opening them again to start singing. The patrons of the karaoke bar become quiet at the vulnerability and honesty in your voice.
The aviators that had accompanied Jake spot fellow aviators towards the front of the bar and cheer you on as they make their way to the front.
By the time you're singing the second verse to the growing group of aviators, you smile at them. "Somewhere after midnight in my wildest fantasy... Somewhere just beyond my reach, there's someone reaching back for me. Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat. Isn't there a superman to sweep me off my feet?"
Jake can feel his anger grow inside. Anger at your vulnerable state. Anger at his fellow aviators. But mostly anger at himself for being the one to hurt you after he promised you forever in high school. He looked at Evelyn who was watching you sing and he tells her “Let’s get out before everyone starts singing depressing songs.”
She can't help but laugh. "You're terrible Jake, but okay." She watches you for a few more seconds. "If she weren't a stranger I think we'd be friends... and I'd hurt the idiot that broke her heart."
Jake clears his throat and is quick to change the subject, but he's too slow as the next song is queued up and your friends join you to sing.
He stumbles and walks into a table causing a loud crash.
You look towards the sound as to continued to sing, locking eyes with him. In that moment, under the cover of the darkness of the club you sang what you wished you could tell him. "Loving you was young, and wild, and free. Loving you was cool, and hot, and sweet. Loving you was sunshine, safe and sound, a steady place to let down my defenses. But loving you had consequences."
Jake storms out leaving you singing of your heartache to the other patrons at the bar.
Jake didn’t notice that there was another pair of eyes on him that put the pieces together that you were the high school girlfriend he left.
Once the aviator sees you head off the stage, he makes a decision he’s always hesitated to make. He decides to make the first move and he approaches you, while your friends were still on stage.
“Jake was an idiot,” the soft but powerful voice tells you as you wipe tears from your eyes. You look up and find a handsome man with wire framed glasses smiling shyly at you. You chuckle and nod.
“Yeah he is.”
“Can I join you for a coke? I’m Bob… well Robert.”
You offer him the seat next to yours and so blooms one of the most important friendships you’ll ever have.

It’s Been a Long, Long Time
Summary: A recurring nightmare of a woman who died in Bucky’s arms during the war keeps waking him up. Sam does some research to help his friend figure out what the dream means.
Length: 3.5K
Characters: Bucky Barnes, two named female original characters, Sam Wilson, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark
Warnings: traumatic death of a character, angst (Bucky’s)
Author’s notes: This one-shot is inspired by a cheesy 80’s movie, called Made in Heaven, basically true love will find a way even if death occurs. Although it starts with a sudden death it ends in the fluffiest way. The song title, used as the one shot title, is associated with Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter at the end of Avengers Endgame. Because this is set in an AU where Steve stayed in the future I have used it for Bucky. The song was written in 1945 by Jule Steyne and Sammy Kahn.
🎶
It was Christmas, 1944 and the Howling Commandos were in London, England on a well-deserved break. He was at a dance, drinking and watching the couples dancing. The few single women there were in high demand, and he just didn’t feel up to cutting in on the lucky guys who had a dancing partner. Then she walked in, wearing a blue dress and a smile. Her presence was like feeling a warm spring breeze caress your face.
“May I have this dance?”
That’s all he had to say for her to turn that smile towards him, place her hand in his and let him lead her around the dance floor. When another soldier came to cut in she looked at the guy with surprise.
“I’m dancing with my fiancé,” came the words straight from her mouth in this lovely British accent. When the man murmured his apologies and left she looked up at Bucky. “You don’t mind being my fiancé tonight, do you?”
“Not one bit,” he said, totally taken by her vivaciousness.
They danced until the band called it quits then headed out into the night to catch a bus to her flat. Just a few months previous the blackout conditions had been relaxed allowing for the use of lighting levels at the equivalent of a moonlit night. It was still dark, however, and pedestrians were warned to be on their guard while crossing the roads. As they walked, the last bus suddenly drove past them and they realized they would have to walk the full distance. Bucky kept an eye and ear out while he and Miss Sabrina Cooper strolled, holding hands as they shared their lives. When they arrived at the door of her building she looked up at the handsome American soldier.
“I share a bedroom with my sister so I can’t ask you in,” she said apologetically. “Would you meet me here tomorrow morning? She’s going to Bath with her fellow for the weekend. We can spend the day together and you can stay the night.”
“Only if you’re sure,” replied Bucky. “I wouldn’t want you to get a bad reputation.”
She laughed and he felt the effect of it down to his core. He was hers and would be there in the morning with bells on, as the saying went. When they kissed goodnight it was like tasting the best dessert that Bucky’s ma ever made, it was so sweet and tasty that he couldn’t get enough of it. As Sabrina watched from the step Bucky crossed the road to find his way back to his billet. He had only gone a few yards when he heard her call his name then run into the street towards him for one last kiss. To his horror a lorry appeared out of nowhere and struck her down right in front of him. Just like that, she was gone, dying in his arms. Then a man’s voice from the dark told him he had so many days to stop it from happening again.
Lately Bucky had been experiencing the same dream. For the past ten nights he had relived this memory from his past, and it was driving him crazy as it seemed to be a countdown. The first night the voice told him he had 30 days. Now on this most recent experience it was down to 20 days, and he still didn’t know why this was happening or what he was supposed to do. Seeing it was well after 2am, he got up and came out to the kitchen in Stark Tower then pulled open the fridge, looking for something to eat.
“Again?” said Sam’s voice as he entered the space. “How many nights is that?”
“Ten,” stated Bucky. “What are you doing up?”
“Had a date,” explained the other man. “Told me she wanted to stay friends.”
“Ouch,” said the super soldier, pulling out some leftover Chinese food. “Want some?”
Sam nodded his consent and Bucky divided it up between the two plates, heating up Sam’s first before heating his own. He pulled out a beer for each of them. The two men sat next to each other as they ate the leftovers. After several minutes Sam took a drink of beer and looked over at Bucky.
“What do you think it means?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” replied Bucky. “I mean, it really happened, right? She was hit by the truck and I know she died because she died in my arms. I couldn’t get to her in time. As for the significance of it, it’s beyond me. It’s not even happening at the same time of year or the same city. Why now?”
“Maybe something like it is going to happen again and it’s a precognition thing,” said Sam. “Maybe you’ll save someone’s life for real this time.”
Bucky smirked. “Sure, that’s got to be it.”
He shook his head, still irritated at experiencing that real life nightmare over and over again. When he finished eating Sam was only half done so Bucky put his dishes in the dishwasher and said goodnight to his fellow Avenger. Sam finished a few minutes later and put his dishes away then leaned back.
“Friday, can you start a search for me, my eyes only?” he asked.
“Certainly, Mr. Wilson,” said the female voice. “What would you like to know?”
“Check newspaper databases for London, England during the month of December 1944,” said Sam. “You’re looking for the pedestrian death of a young woman, age unknown, name Sabrina Cooper. She was hit by a truck. There may be an American soldier who witnessed the accident.”
“Is it possible the pedestrian survived the accident?” asked Friday. “That would increase the possibilities of an accurate result.”
“Sure, add that to the mix,” said Sam. “Any results can wait until I wake up tomorrow. Goodnight, Friday.”
“Goodnight, Mr. Wilson. Sweet dreams.”
He slept in the next morning, not waking up until after 10 am. After a quick shower he came out to the kitchen, finding no one there. Making himself a coffee he was just about to sip it when Friday interrupted his actions.
“Mr. Wilson, I have results of the search you assigned me this morning,” said the friendly female voice.
“Already?” exclaimed Sam. “Let me hear them.”
“Sabrina Cooper was struck down by a lorry in the Chelsea area of London, early in the morning of Saturday, December 23, 1944. An unidentified American soldier, a Sergeant in the army, witnessed the accident. She died in his arms.”
“Hmmm,” said Sam, thoughtfully. “There’s nothing else?”
“That is correct,” replied the AI.
Back to square one.
An hour later, the two men, along with Steve Rogers headed out for a run through Central Park. When they stopped for a break, more for Sam’s sake, they all sprawled on their backs in the grass. Bucky sat up first and looked around at the people walking nearby. Something caught his eye and he stood up.
“Buck?” asked Steve, looking in the direction that his friend was looking. “What is it? Trouble?”
“No,” replied Bucky, sitting down again. “Just saw something familiar for a moment. A woman in a blue dress but I don’t see her now.” He looked at Sam. “Don’t say it. She didn’t look anything like her.”
“Ah, the woman from your memories who you’ve been dreaming about,” said Steve. “That’s ten nights now. You never talked about her when you got back from your leave. None of us knew what had happened.”
“I only knew her for a few hours,” said Bucky. “Then she was gone. Wasn’t much to tell.”
“It must have bothered you,” replied Steve.
“It did,” said Bucky. “She lived with her sister who was going to Bath for the weekend with her fellow. Sabrina asked me to come back in the morning and stay the weekend.” He smiled. “I would have spent a lifetime with her.”
“You did,” said Sam. “It was her lifetime.”
Bucky couldn’t disagree with his friend’s apt observation. When they returned to the compound Sam retreated to his room.
“Friday, could you do another search related to the search I requested earlier?” It answered in the affirmative. “Sabrina Cooper had a sister, first name unknown, living at the same address. She planned to go to Bath with a male friend that day. Is she still alive?”
“I will perform the search with the new parameters,” said Friday. “Shall I extend the search to any descendants?”
“Yes, please,” responded Sam.
He showered, changed and headed out to the kitchen area where several people were cooperating on preparing a meal. Sam offered to help but was told everything was in hand. When the meal was ready he took his share, sitting at the large table where others were reading a newspaper, or browsing on their tablets while they ate.
“Mr. Wilson,” said Friday. “I have a result on your search. Would you like me to share them here or in your room?”
“Here is fine,” said Sam.
“The name of the sister was Deidre Cooper. She was engaged to Flight Lieutenant Wallis Overton, a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force. The couple married in 1945 and she immigrated to Canada with her husband at that time. They had three children. Their youngest son, John Overton, born in 1952, married Teresa Fielder. Their oldest daughter, Marianne London was born in 1973, and is currently a resident of New York City.”
“That’s it?” asked Sam, as Bucky looked strangely at him.
“No, Marianne is a widow, and lives in the Chelsea neighbourhood of New York with her daughter, Sabrina London, born December 23, 1994.”
Sam looked at Bucky. “I played a hunch,” he said. “Maybe you’re meant to save someone who was connected to Sabrina Cooper in some way. She was born on the same day 50 years after your Sabrina died. You’re welcome.”
Steve grinned as the others asked who Sabrina Cooper was. Bucky left the explanations for Sam and Steve while he acquired Sabrina London’s address and workplace. He planned to go the next day to begin his surveillance of her but that night they got the call for another mission that took most of them out of town for 2 ½ weeks. While he was away the dream continued with the countdown marching it’s way to the end. With 2 nights left the team returned to the compound and no one was surprised to see Bucky run to his room, shower, change and leave.
“Should we provide backup?” asked Sam. “To be honest, I kind of want to see this through.”
“I agree,” said Steve. He looked around at the others. “Anyone else want in on this mission?”
〰️
Bucky was already in the Chelsea neighbourhood of New York when the rest of the team decided to get in on the action. He found the address soon enough and set himself up to watch until someone came out of the main door of the apartment building. It was the doorman and Bucky realized that he might not have much luck with the residence so he sought out Sabrina London’s workplace, a record store that carried 78s, LPs, and CDs. When he stepped inside he smiled at the sound of Duke Ellington playing.
“Hiya!” said a cheerful voice and he looked to where it came from.
Suddenly, he was back on the dance floor in London as he saw Sabrina’s Cooper’s double behind the cash register, wearing a blue dress and a smile.
“Hi,” he replied. “Nice store.”
“Thanks,” she said. “I grew up listening to a lot of different genres and after I got my degree in musicology I decided to open my own place and bring music to the masses. There’s nothing wrong with digital music but there’s nothing like listening to the older stuff on vinyl, you know?”
“I agree,” smiled Bucky. “You carry any Benny Goodman or Harry James?”
“1940s fan, huh?” she said, then she looked at him again. “Have we met before?”
“Maybe in another life,” joked Bucky. “I’m Bucky, Bucky Barnes.”
“No shit, sorry,” she blushed. “I have a potty mouth sometimes. You really are him so the 1940s thing is for real. You must have seen some of those artists live.”
“I did,” said Bucky, stepping closer to the counter. “Billie Holliday, Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway, Count Basie, Lena Horne … I saw them in the clubs. The best way, in my opinion.”
She leaned forward, cradling her chin on her hand as he spoke. “Wow! I’m so jealous,” she replied. “I would have loved to have seen those people perform live.” She stuck her hand out. “Sabrina London. Owner, manager, soon to be ex-owner, ex-manager.”
“Why?” asked Bucky, watching her intently.
“Even though I’m in the middle of New York City I don’t really get enough business to make a profit. I’m barely keeping my head above water. Add in a jerk of a building owner who doesn’t seem to understand that you have to maintain these older buildings so that plumbing leaks don’t damage one’s inventory … sorry, I’m venting.”
“You need someone to invest in you,” said Bucky. “Your business, I mean. Maybe buy the building and restore it to something iconic. I’m pretty sure this was a high end retail store back in the 1940s. There has to be marble columns behind the drywall and hardwood floors beneath this sheet linoleum.”
“I wish,” she smiled. “You don’t think Tony Stark would be interested, do you?”
“If he doesn’t I might know a guy or two,” said Bucky. The sound of the door opening made them both look and he grinned as Sam and Steve walked in. “Hey, may I present Sabrina London, owner of this establishment. Sabrina, Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson.”
Steve looked all around, hearing the music. “We should be coming here to look for our music, Miss London. This place has character.”
“Just not enough business,” she said, “but go ahead and have a look. I can talk music all day.”
“Motown?” asked Sam.
She gestured towards the wall and he went over, beginning to flip through the selection. The door opened again and Tony Stark walked in, looking all around then seeing the young woman.
“Is this her?” he asked.
Sabrina looked at him, puzzled. “What do you mean by Is this her?” she asked, looking between Bucky and Tony. “Have you been watching me?”
“No, nothing creepy,” said Tony, to Bucky’s glare. “You might as well tell her. You got any AC/DC or Metallica in here?”
She gestured to another wall then looked at Bucky for an explanation. His face turned pink then he took a deep breath.
“Are you named after Sabrina Cooper?” he asked. “She was the sister of your great-grandmother Deidre Cooper.”
“How do you know that?” she asked, a crease appearing between her eyes as she frowned slightly. “It’s a family thing.”
“Because I’m a genius and I invented a very sophisticated AI that can search almost anything,” said Tony loudly from the heavy metal section, three LPs already in his arms.
Steve looked sympathetically at Bucky. “You might as well tell her the truth,” he said. “I’m going to look for some albums.”
Bucky ran his hand through his hair. “It’s just that I met Sabrina Cooper on December 22, 1944 at a dance in London. We connected and I walked her home to her flat in Chelsea. She told me her sister was going to Bath for the weekend with her guy and wanted me to spend the next couple of days with her. I was charmed by her and agreed. She ran across the road to kiss me one more time.”
“You were the soldier,” interrupted Sabrina. “She died in your arms.”
Bucky nodded. “For the past 27 days I’ve relived that night over and over, and the only thing that changes is at the end a voice says that I have so many days to prevent it from happening again. It’s been counting down from 30 days. Sam got the idea that maybe I was meant to save someone with a connection to Sabrina, and Tony’s AI came up with your name. You were born exactly 50 years after the date that Sabrina Cooper died, and your great grandmother was her sister. You live in Chelsea here in New York and your last name is London. It seemed to make sense at the time. We can leave if this bothers you.”
“You think something bad is going to happen to me?” she asked. “You came here hoping to prevent that?”
Bucky stuck his hands in his jacket pockets and shrugged. “Sounds crazy, I know.”
“It does sound crazy,” said Sabrina. “But what if I told you that for the past 27 days I’ve had a dream of a young WWII soldier, dancing with me to Bing Crosby’s version of It’s Been a Long, Long Time which is weird because it came out in October, 1945 at the same time as the Harry James version, but this dance that we’re at was just before Christmas, 1944. In this dream I distinctly remember saying to a guy who wanted to cut in that I was dancing with my fiancé. At the end of my dream a woman’s voice says I have so many days to find this soldier. It’s been counting down from 30 and reached the number 3 last night.”
The others had come over as Sabrina related her dream, looking back and forth from her to Bucky. He just looked at her, then leaned across the counter and kissed her for several moments before stepping back.
“Then I would say we found each other again, Sabrina,” he said. “We get to start over again, if you want.”
“It took us long enough, didn’t it?” she smiled. She looked at Tony. “Could you buy this building and fix it to its original glory? I’m a great tenant and you’d be helping a small business owner in the heart of New York City.”
“Sabrina Fair, it would be my delight to help a small business owner with the treasures that you have here,” he said, grinning like a schoolboy.
Six months later
Sabrina London looked up at the door as it opened to the arrival of her fiancé, the Avenger Bucky Barnes. A skiff of snow flew in as he entered. The place was full of people shopping for the perfect Christmas present and he stepped around the lineup of people at the register.
“You’re back!” she said, coming out from behind the marble topped counter as her assistant beamed.
“Wasn’t going to miss this weekend,” said Bucky, looking at his watch before kissing Sabrina. “It’s not everyday that I get married. Everything’s ready according to the wedding planner. All we have to do is say the words and we’ll be husband and wife.” He looked up and nodded to the assistant, Jenny. “You ready to let your boss go for the next two weeks?”
“Absolutely,” she said. “Go, get out of here.”
Sabrina went into the back, got her coat and purse, then pulled her boots on. Bucky helped her into her coat, making sure her scarf was covering her neck, then with a wave he opened the door again and followed his fiancée out the door. A limousine, courtesy of Tony Stark, was waiting for them and Bucky opened the door for her, before sitting inside. Nodding at the driver the couple sat back and Bucky put his arm around her shoulders.
“We have to make one more stop,” he said. “I need to practice something.”
“What?” asked Sabrina. “You said yourself everything is ready.”
“I know, but this is for me,” said Bucky. “Indulge me.”
It didn’t take long before the limousine stopped at the Rink at Rockefeller Center. The giant Christmas tree was lit up and the rink was full of skaters.
“We’re not going skating,” said Sabrina. “I don’t know how.”
“No, we’re not,” said Bucky, “but we do need to get on the ice.”
Making their way through the crowd they stepped onto the ice near the tree, where a large rubber mat had been placed. When they reached the mat the music playing for the crowd stopped and a song came on, sung by Bing Crosby.
Kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It’s been a long, long time
A photographer took several pictures of them as the snowflakes fell and Bucky smiled at Sabrina.
“They wanted a picture and I wanted to practice our first dance,” he said. “How much more romantic is it than being under the falling snow in front of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center? I’m so glad I found you Sabrina Fair.”
She laughed, as much at the situation as at the nickname that Tony gave her.
“I’m so glad you found me, my handsome soldier,” she replied.
The couple danced closely together on the rink in the heart of New York City, continuing the romance that began 80 years before in London during blackout conditions of a world war. It had been a long, long time but they were together now and they thanked whatever forces brought them back together, as they should have been from the start.

FIJI ~ THE RETURN
(Yasawa islands & the Coral Coast)
🎶 “One the road again” since the dreaded global pandemic. I left Canada at the end of 2016, now it’s 2023 and may the travels continue. Currently living in Brisbane Australia with my partner in crime. Zach and I travelled 5 hours to Fiji, only to be met by the warm weather and musical greetings.
Nadi: Hustling to find a taxi we made it to smugglers accomodation. Just as I remembered 6 years ago, smugglers is somewhere to crash for a night and nothing much has changed. The following morning we hopped on a bus and headed through Nadi to Port Denarau where we met our boat, the south sea island cruiser. Aboard the vessel we road the roof top, 4.5 hours all the way up the Yasawa islands to the famous Blue Lagoon Resort.
Blue Lagoon: White sandy beaches fringed in coconut palms, cobalt blue and turquoise coloured ocean. Blue lagoon is home to an endless natural beauty and the loveliest of islanders. Located near the end of the Yasawa chain of islands. Fun Fact: Blue Lagoon is known and named after the 1980s film, “Blue lagoon” (starring Brooke Sheilds). We spent our time here free diving the “Sawai-Lo” caves on the neighbouring island. Snorkelling with turtles, sea life and a vast display of ancient colourful corals. After a scenic hike accompanied by the village dog we named, “Nipples” our evenings were plentiful. Kava rituals, an endless buffet, traditional song and dance that even we were sure to partake in. Blue lagoon was one to remember.
Manta Ray: Onto the next one! After the Lagoon we ventured down to Manta Ray Island, an island I had once visited 6 years prior. Friendly and laid-back, this island will forever leave its mark in my mind. Scenic views of neighbouring islands and known for its flocks of majestic manta rays that soar through the current like birds in the air. Often the locals will sound a conch-shell and as if it were a Black Friday sale, everyone then races like a group of warriors to the boats. Prepared to battle the current in hopes of seeing these majestic Mantas. We swam like hell in attempt to see them but ended up being the 2 of few who were unsuccessful. We enjoyed a lovely meal with an evening in our seaside villa just steps from the ocean, the waves lulling us to sleep. The following morning we watched the sunrise and enjoyed a beach stroll, playing with hermit crabs along the shoreline. We were met with slight disappointment as the island pump had broken, running us out of clean water. Unfortunate and uncommon but not the end of the world, we had to quickly re-arranged accomodation to another island further south.
Naqalia: Travelling from Manta Ray we headed down the Yasawa to a small island called, Naqalia. With the change in accomodation we managed to find a small home stay with a local family on the island. Unique and rustic, the family ran a lodge that was completely hand made and everyone played a part in accomodating us. With little cost Zach and I had a roof over our heads and met handful of fellow travellers, open to experiencing Fiji locals like few tourists ever get the privilege of having. The family cooked a meal that I strongly attest was the best food we had the entire trip. However Zach wasn’t feeling great so the following day he stayed back while I did something I’ve never done before. The teenage boys from the Fijian family of Naqalia had driven an older couple and myself kilometres from land to a large reef in the open ocean. After getting past some large waves we jumped in the centre of the reef where we snorkelled above large trumpet fish and schools of white tip reef sharks. The young boys who brought us even hand fed the sharks right in front of us which seemed dangerous yet thrilling.
Barefoot Kuata: After a short stay at Naqalia lodge we were brought over by a small boat to Barefoot Kuata. Over the shallow beach and endless colourful reef, tucked away in the towering palm trees is a hidden gem. Barefoot Kuata resort is a luxurious stay where Zach and I had an amazing boho-beach inspired accomodation with an outdoor shower and bathtub. After exploring the cave and sunset lookouts with endless views. We kicked back with great Buffett dinner and night snorkel. The following morning we both went diving for the first time in 3.5 years. Unlike any other dive this particular one was with 3 meter long bull sharks. Known for being an aggressive breed of shark species, we still did it. Watching 10+ of these fascinating animals swarm in a feeding frenzy as one of the locals fed them at a depth of 22 meters. Barefoot was a memorable stay and a place I’d love to visit again.
South Sea Island: Six years ago I had a very memorable, laid back stay on south sea island. Taking only minutes to walk the perimeter of this island, and accomodating no more than a handful of people. I had connected with a group of travellers I still occasionally keep in touch with. However it seemed this island had a subtle facelift and is now a popular destination for other travellers looking to spend the day from neighbouring islands. Still very enjoyable, we slept in a small cabin steps from the sea. Watching the sunset change, as it went from a small amber glow to filling the sky with touches of magenta and cotton candy pink. After saying goodbye to the Yasawa islands and the few fellow people we met along the way we carried on to the mainland.
The Road Trip: Embracing spontaneity, we met a local worker on south sea island who agreed to driving us 2.5 hours for $200. Even though it was very much out of his way, it was the best way to educate ourselves. Before starting the road trip into the night, we first stopped by his village where we had the privilege of meeting some of his family and local animals. Zach, the driver and I spent this time indulging and comparing cultures and ethnicities before picking up a fourth. We pulled into a village to pick up the drivers cousin and the 4 of us carried along driving. Like the beginning of a bad joke, an Australian, Canadian and two Fijian men drove across mainland Fiji comparing stories and sharing riddles.
Pacific Harbour: After the long and winding roads, we said goodbye to our fellow Fijians. Ending up at our final destination…The Pearl Resort. Located in Pacific Harbour, The Pearl is a beautifully landscaped resort with all the comforts of home. This did not end the adventurers in us! We managed to squeeze 2 more dives in with a local company. These exploration dives were stunning! An array of sea life, lion fish, sharks, trumpet fish, nudibranch and soft corals. My particular favourite part was the ship wreck at a depth of 23 meters with large over hanging fan corals cascading off the sides of this rusty, old vessel.
After our final experience scuba diving we headed back to The Pearl. This location is a great way to stop and rest before heading back to the hardships of reality. Here we lived the highlife, indulging in food, spa treatments and poolside cocktails. Amazingly, to my surprise I even bumped into one of my south sea “fellow travellers” from 6 years ago. However this time she came with family too, not the lonely traveller who I once met a long time ago. So happy for her! (Laura)
First time overseas since the global pandemic, first time travelling with Zach, second time in Fiji and it’s just as wondrous as I recall. Home to 333 islands, 120 of those islands inhabiting the loveliest of local people. With its main source of economy being tourism you can understand why Fiji is an oasis for those wanting an escape. A tropical paradise scattered amongst the Pacific Ocean, Fiji will always hold special unforgettable memories.

“Life and Thank you very much”
Until next time,

RWBY: Let's Go Home Together Valentine's Edition
Outside the house in Mistral, Yang and Ruby gazed at the fireflies. It was a beautiful night. Weiss and Blake were inside playing Pictionary with Sun and Neptune, while Ren and Nora were having a date. Seems like everyone was having fun... all except Yang and Ruby. Their boys, Jaune and Oscar, had been gone a long time.
Yang: What's taking them so long?
Ruby: I don't know, they're never this late.
Yang: It's been half an hour, should we go looking for them?
Ruby: No, let's stay here for a few more minutes. If they don't show up, then we go looking.
Yang: Well, okay. Still, we gotta pass the time somehow, sitting here is kinda dull.
Ruby: True. Hmmmm...... *snaps fingers* How about a song?
Yang: That sounds good! Got anything in mind?
Ruby: Let's Go Home Together! It's very romantic!
Yang: Alright! Take it away, Rubes! *smiles*
Ruby: Okay! *deep breath* 🎶I'd never have given you a second look
But I like the way you don't give a damn
You seem like someone I could pick a fight with, and dance all night with
Maybe you'll like me the way I am🎶
Yang: 🎶And even though you got bad tattoos and smell like booze
I'm into you
And even though you got an attitude
Baby, I'm in love🎶
Ruby/Yang: 🎶I've said a little too much
I'm a little bit drunk
Feels like I know you so well
You could be everything that I've been missing
I'm coming out of my shell
And I never do that
How did you do that?
It's like I've known you my whole life
So what we're a little drunk?
Let's go home together🎶
Suddenly, Ruby and Yang heard two voices sing along, prompting them to turn around. Next to them were Jaune and Oscar, carrying lilacs and roses, along with a two boxes of chocolate and cookies.
Ruby: O-Oscar?
Yang: J-Jaune?
Jaune/Oscar: 🎶Let's go home together🎶
Jaune: 🎶I'm never that good in a crowded room, mhm-mm
But everything stopped when I just saw you
You seem like someone I could be myself with, no defenses
Maybe you like me the way I am🎶
Yang: *hums and smiles*
Oscar: 🎶Even though you talk way too fast
I can't stop looking at your eyes
Heads turn every time you laugh
Baby, I'm in love🎶
Ruby/Oscar/Jaune/Yang: 🎶I've said a little too much
I'm a little bit drunk
Feels like I know you so well
You could be everything that I've been missing
I'm coming out of my shell
And I never do that
How did you do that?
It's like I've known you my whole life
So what we're a little drunk?
Let's go home together🎶
Ruby/Yang: 🎶Let's go home together🎶
At that moment, Yang draped her arms over Jaune while he held onto her, while Oscar lifted Ruby up and twirled her.
Ruby/Oscar/Jaune/Yang: 🎶I'm a little drunk
Need a little love
Could be everything, that I've been missing🎶
Jaune: *to Yang* 🎶You could be everything to me🎶
Ruby/Oscar/Jaune/Yang: 🎶I'm a little drunk
Need a little love
Could be everything
That I've been missing🎶
Oscar: *to Ruby* Baby I'm in love!!!
Ruby/Oscar/Jaune/Yang: 🎶I've said a little too much
I'm a little bit drunk
Feels like I know you so well
You could be everything that I've been missing
I'm coming out of my shell
And I never do that
How did you do that?
It's like I've known you my whole life
So what we're a little drunk
Let's go home together
Let's go home together
I'd have never given you a second look
But I like the way you don't give a-🎶
In that moment, both couples closed the gap between their faces and embraced each other in a warm, loving kiss. It was official, this was the best Valentine's Day ever.
Blake: Whoooo!!!!!!! Encore!!!!!
Jaune: *breaks kiss and jumps* Gah! Blake, wha-?
Ruby: *blushes* H-How long have you been standing there??
Blake: 5 minutes ago. I heard you singing and I wanted to check... and I'm glad I did. *smiles*
Oscar: Uh... yeah. *blushes* Um... a-are you gonna stare at us all night?
Yang: Yeah, what happened to Pictionary?
Blake: Neptune's on a bit of a murder spree.
Neptune: *inside the house* It's penguin!!!! Do you not see the beak?!
Blake: So are you guys gonna kiss again?
Ruby/Oscar/Jaune/Yang: *all blush* BLAKE!!!!
