Finding comfort in being uncomfortable…. Does that even make sense? For years I was a master at avoidance. Ducking difficult conversations, avoiding critics, shying away from vulnerable situations. Maybe it's just me but have you ever said "it's not just for me" more out of fear than out of actual experience? I for one, was guilty. What changed, the reality that staying in my comfort zone was the opposite of growth. What I was doing that was "GOOD" wasn't leading me to being GREAT 🤯. Being uncomfortable is what forced me to adapt, to change, to learn. I'm not saying that you have to sleep on a bed of nails, but forcing yourself out of your existing comfort zone is the key to growth. This year, I changed… I took a step away for Christmas. It's atypical and a complete reversal of where i was 12 months ago. 12 months ago, surround by friends and family, I felt alone and feared that was my future. It was one of the loneliest times of my life. This year, in solitude, I was able to hear my voice. By quieting the world, my voice was loud enough to finaly make sense. I wasn't lonely but surround by peace and love, and thankful for every morning I was able to open my eyes. I had to create space to find clarity and healing. I had to get away to find my place. I had to listen to the quiet to hear the opera of Life. Some people cannot waiting for 2020. 2019 was a horrible year, they say, but unless you face a fear, change a pattern, challenge a belief. In 1 year you will find yourself wishing for 2020 to end and for 2021 to begin. #TuesdayThoughts I've read that by age 35, 95% of our daily lives is unconscious. Learned actions, thoughts and responses dictate how our minutes, hours and days add up to be our life. Habits exist within that umbrella. That's why breaking them is so hard. Not only do we have find it, figure it out, break it but we are doing it with force of only 5%. I'm saying this to remind myself that it is a struggle, daily with forces stacked against me. A daily fight to push on and consciously change a bad habit to a good one.
