Something about Bilbo and Thorin’s love that gets me is…it just wasn’t supposed to happen. Dwarves weren’t supposed to exist. Hobbits are relatives of Men; they were always part of Ilúvatar’s plan and were among his children. But Aulë secretly created the Dwarves when he wasn’t supposed to, and Ilúvatar gave them life knowing they would always be different from his own children and those races may never get along. This is why I disagree with the common notion that Bilbo and Thorin were “soulmates”; in a world governed by fate, the connection between them - these two polar opposites, children of two different entities - just…happened. By accident.

My girl has been through enough

Asexual people can write about sex. Asexual people can sing about sex. Asexual people can talk, joke, read, watch, know, enjoy sex. It makes them no less asexual for it.

Aromantic people can write about romance. They can sing, joke, read, watch, know, enjoy romance. It makes them no less aromantic.

Aplatonic people can write, sing, joke, read, watch, know, enjoy platonic relationships. It makes them no less aplatonic.

Agender people can present as a certain gender, use "gendered" pronouns, not make effort to look androgynous/agender, use the name they were given at birth, enjoy typically gendered experiences. Agender people can refer to themselves by gendered terms. It does not make them any less agender.

A conversation I had with my friend this week:

“Her: so, you’re a guy?

Me: well, no, but I’m not a girl either

Her: oh! so, like… non-binary, right?

Me: I mean yeah? but-

Her: no, there’s no but, you either are or you aren’t, stop making everything more complicated than it needs to be.”

And I think we should all live by that.

It should be illegal to require that any device or software connect to the internet just to run. I shouldn't need to log in with microsoft to open any of their programs on my local computer. All games should be playable without access to an online server. All media you pay for should be downloadable to local disk as a raw file and if they don't like that because they know you'll share it and upload it, tough shit. They took your money already, they'll live.

Lily Evans had a goth phase that she’s low key embarrassed about.

She tried getting rid of the evidence but everyone secretly kept pictures, not to embarrass her, but because she looked so beautiful and cool as a goth and they don’t want it to go to waste.

To this day, Sirius and Marlene still try to convince her to go goth again. They make absurdly complicated plans, enrolling their friends in it. It fails every time because they’re not subtle AT ALL and Lily 100% knows what they’re doing (but she lets them do it cause she thinks it’s hilarious). Marlene and Sirius, however, think they’re the definition of subtlety, and they try very hard to keep their schemes secret (they fail miserably).

There’s this idea that’s been plaguing me for a while of the ineffable wives in the 90s but like Aziraphale is in a Riot Grrrl band.

She plays the bass or the drums, she hosts meetings in her bookshop, and she helps distributing the zines, but she doesn’t want to participate in writing them, insisting that she was a man most of her life so it really wasn’t her place.

And the girls are so happy cause there’s this sweet old trans lady who shreds on the bass/drums and who supports their cause, even if she can be a bit oblivious about it, and they’re over the bloody moon when they meet her goth wife.

And Crowley is admittedly a bit confused when she visits Aziraphale and instead finds a bunch of excited university students scrapbooking all over the place, but quickly gets over it once she sees how excited Aziraphale is about it. And if a few suggestions for provocative texts were made here and there, well, a demon is entitled to a little dose of chaos every once in awhile ;)

Barty Crouch Jr is a chaotic genius.

He’s the type of person who has never studied a second in his life yet still gets amazing grades. The sole reason why he hates going to class is that it goes too slow for him, so he never listens to the teachers. However he’s still top of his class so they leave him be. He literally got twelve Os on the OWLs, and I bet he barely even tried.

He’s the type of person who has an extremely varied set of skills that he learned out of boredom, including, but not exclusively, drawing, painting, gardening, a bunch of random languages, sewing, playing random instruments (such as the cello and/or the clarinet), baking, doing magic tricks, ect.

He is the type of person who is ambidextrous by pure shear of will. One day he decided that only being able to write with one particular hand was utterly ridiculous and practised until he was at ease with both. Everyone thinks it was a complete waste of time, but it’s pretty handy.

He’s a complete music nerd. He will argue with anyone about how classical music and metal are basically the same thing (which they are btw) and he has the most out of pocket music taste you’ll ever encounter.

He is the type of genius who will argue with you that they’re ‘not smarter than average, other people are just stupid’.

He’s the type of person who says that they don’t know anything about a certain topic and then proceed to tell you more info about it than you could ever find on Wikipedia.

I bet that when he found out about how different muggle and magic education was he found a way (probably through bribing/threatening someone) to get access to muggle school manuals and taught himself all about maths, science, and history.

He’s the type of person who reads philosophy for fun, who loves hearing about politics for no reason whatsoever, and who manages to blame all of the world’s problems on capitalism.

He’s definitely the smartest person you know yet he’s still such an idiot.
