Seeing other writers on tumblr talk about writing is so validating because all of them are basically:
“I hate writing but I love it more than anything but it’s agony but I have a million stories to put to paper but I barely ever write a word”
And like I’ve always felt this way and I worried it meant I wasn’t supposed to be a writer, which tore me to shreds. But no. That’s just the curse of being one, I guess.

i oh so often read my older writing (just a few months back, over a year ago it wasn't so good lol) and feel like crying because wow, this queen so good?? she a genious?? this a masterpiece?? and then i remember i'm the queen. and suddenly feel like i have dementia because somehow i don't remember anything about writing. what tf are words and how do i combine them for it to make sense
please please please please reblog if you’re a writer and have at some point felt like your writing is getting worse. I need to know if I’m the only one who’s struggling with these thoughts

"is this too cliche?" who cares? bro, write what you have fun writing. stuff your manuscript full of your favourite tropes. the same themes you love. all inspired by things you grew up with. do it all. go off. load. it. up. be freeeee

no. but i wish. i really do.
(i've been writing what feels like tens of thousands words... but it's been a year since i started a fic and it has 30k right now...)
Do you ever just start writing and then it's a few thousand words later, and you're just like, 'Where the hell did any of this come from? This was not the plan. Wtf?'

it's like a realisation that it's not just a number....??? like you know what i mean right???? i mean i do appreciate the kudos, DUH OF COURSE I DO but when the person writes a comment, it's like,,, they took the time of their day to write it??? like they're an actual person, breathing and walking on this earth, having a life of their own??? and they read MY silly little post and liked it enough to leave a comment???? i wish for every person who has ever commented on my fic to have a great day, a great week, actually a great century !!!
If you leave a positive comment on my fanfiction be sure I'm gonna read it everyday and cherish it till the end of the world

oh this has just given me so much motivation that i might burst
i love uncompleted fics
i love the hype for the new chapter, i love getting the notification of "x updated", i love the little chaos of finishing all my bussiness to make time to read it, i love the author telling us the readers little stuff about their lives in the notes (congratulations with graduation! a break up isnt the end of the world! what do you mean you went to jail????), i love theorizing about the future chapters, i love all the memes about the fic posted on parallel in author's tumblr while we wait for the next chapter, i love commenting theories or ideas and then the authors responds with that emoji or a "oh, you'll see" or "honestly, i have no idea what will happen", i love starting the freshly posted chapter, i love that bittersweet feeling of finishing it and realizing you dont know what will happen and wont know for a while but well, the author is probably suffering about that too
i love you wips, i love you writers of wips, dont allow all that hate to get to you, your fics are 100% worthy the time even if they arent finished, even if they are never finished

There was a new LGBT+ acronym, and it was twig etc. (it had to be in lowercase for some reason). It stood for trans, Welsh, intersex, and gay. Everyone else was etc. It was very controversial.

ok but this is seriously a huge thing for me, because i am physically inable to not write chronologically. so if i get stuck on a scene, i can't just go and write another one. if i get stuck on a scene, i get stuck on writing.
and now i've managed to push through it and it feels like actual deliverance
because i've been thinking about the fic literally every day. i've started writing it a year ago, and especially in the past weeks all i did was thinking about it. the vibe, the characters, all the details that will eventually need some adjusting. everything. but i never wrote any actual words.
until i now suddenly have???? god i am going to live off this feeling for so long now
I HAVE JUST FINISHED WRITING A SCENE THAT I WAS STUCK ON FOR MONTHS!!!!!!!!!! EVERYBODY CHEER!!!! LIFE IS WORTH LIVING AGAIN!!!!!!!

the thing i love about fandoms is that no matter how funny the original content is, the fans will always make it even funnier
because it's like this huge group of people is having these inside jokes that might not seem any special to the outside world, but when you know the context, suddenly it's fucking hilarious

how it feels waiting at the psychiatrist's
its so unfortunate when different peoples neurodivergent traits clash horribly. like yes i totally understand that the man at the other table cant control his stimming and loud vocal tics and i think he deserves to have a nice day out at a restaraunt without judgement. however if i dont remove myself from the audible vicinity in the next 20 seconds i will explode.

writing something that isn't fanfiction is so jarring because what do you mean the readers aren't already familiar with the characters' specific quirks and don't know how exactly the dynamic between each other works?
Writing something that isn’t fan-fiction is so jarring because what do you mean i don’t have a fandom to appease?
