You Bite, I Bite… and Kiss
Floyd Leech x GN Reader
Notes: established relationship!!, biting (nothing weird, reader bites to show affection), bro bites back…, um kisses?
Tumblr media
It was just a normal day. Well… more so the end of the day.
Floyd had left you in his room to chill while he helped out at the Mostro Lounge for a few before ultimately ditching.
Not even an hour later he snuck back into his room.
“Floyd..? I thought you were supposed to help out..?” You asked, looking at the teal headed eel.
“Yeah. I was. But then it got slow and boringggg.” He dragged out, laughing a bit.
“Well… I guess at that point, there’s no need for all hands on deck.” You shrugged.
“Yeah, there isn’t. Gimme a minute, kay Sea Pearl?” Floyd asked, rummaging his closet for his lounge wear.
You nodded, busying yourself with the homework you had brought. No sooner than 17 minutes later, Floyd came back refreshed.
Walking over, he flopped down on the end of the bed allowing you to maintain your space, his hands under his head as he just stared at the ceiling. Looking at him, you tilted your head slightly, smiling.
“What’re you doing?” You asked, slowly putting your papers away.
“Nothin.” He mumbled.
Putting your things on his nightstand, you extended your hands to him, arms opening to welcome him. Without a second thought, he moved, now basically laying on you.
“Hm.. this ain’t comfy.” He muttered before flipping the both of you, now you were laying on top of him.
Your head laid on his chest, to which, he didn’t seem satisfied so he pulled you up further, now the two of you were face to face. Upon seeing his face, you cupped his face in your hands, eliciting a curious hum from him.
Moving in closer, he thought you wanted a kiss, only for you to bite his cheek.
“Um… ow? Hey Sea Pearl, no biting!” He exclaimed, trying to move your face away as you bit him again.
You kept the bite there, not really putting any pressure on the bite but remained unmoving. Floyd let out a small “hmph” before his eyes moved to look at yours.
“I’m gonna bite you back if ya don’t stop.” He grumbled, causing you to immediately let go.
“Floyd, no. Your teeth hurt!” You complained, trying to keep his face away from yours.
“Floyd, yes.” He grinned, pushing his face closer to yours.
“Floyd, no!” You yelped, trying to now sit up.
But alas you were no quicker than this eel as he grabbed your arms, pulling you towards him, and biting your cheek now.
“Ow! Floyddd that hurtssss!” You whined, as he let go.
“I didn’t even bite you that hard… Ah, whatever. No more biting.” He said, looking at you before kissing where he bit.
A small “hmph” left your mouth as you pouted slightly.
Floyd could only laugh, trying to kiss your cheek better.

Oh to be an NPC in Stardew Valley! Their lives must be so interesting and unique, and yet, they have no clue of it themselves. It must be nice to be so clueless as to one's legacy.
Pelican Town was quiet, and peaceful for a long time. Tourism was beginning to bolster, and the town was growing. A young, aspiring writer took up residence in an old shack on the beach. A family moved in to the town, bringing laughter and joy. An artist fixed up an old cottage, ready to bring her creations to life. Other businesses begin to pop up as well; a doctors clinic, a blacksmith, a scientist exploring the valley. For a long time, life was good. The old residents and the new blood worked together to improve the town, and carefully grow their slice of paradice for others to enjoy.
Unfortunately, all good things must eventually come to an end. The Farmer, a good, kind man, eventually had to retire, and his spirit returned once more to Yoba. The local economy begun to waver, just a little. Lewis knew they'd be okay, but it would take time.
And then Joja Corp stepped in.
The first the townspeople heard of the development was the builders rocking up to begin construction. Lewis, who should have been informed of the plans, was outraged. Unfortunately, he was bullied out of filing any lawsuits by Joja's ferocious team of lawyers, hounding him into silence. Pierre looked on with worry as the Joja symbol was painted on the new billboard.
The new Jojamart did help to keep some of the struggling townspeople afloat, with it's cheap prices and large stock. Unfortunately, it had a chain effect that was felt by the whole town. Pierre was hit the hardest, having to lean in heavily on savings he had put together for retirement. In turn, Marnie's clientele hit rock bottom, as did Clint and Robin's. They had to rely on travelers and tourists to support themselves, of which there were less and less. Joja had turned the town's rustic feel into another slice of modern suburbia.
Lewis eventually couldn't affort to keep the bus going, and it fell into disrepair. No one visited. With the main highway carefully making it's way around the town, only the occasional visitor would stop in. Slowly, the town fell further and further into ruin. The once grand community centre lay wasted and abandoned, left to rot.
But while everyone was focused on the ruins and the past, no one saw the magic creep back in...
The old Farmer's grandchild was certainly a bit odd. New to the town, the villagers looked on in faint amusement as they sprinted their way around the town. Pierre, who was sadly preparing to sell the store, felt a faint sense of hope start to stir. Within weeks of their arrival, they had project after project lined up for Robin to begin, and she took to it with great vigour. Clint and Marnie, who's businesses had all but dried up, were suddenly back in swing. And once Gil and Marlon had shown them the mines, well, Harvey never ran out of patients. While the Farmer dealt with extradimensional entities and shook hands with the magic of old, everyone else was noticing the slight uplift. The old, rusted gears that ran the town had ever so slightly started turning once more. Morris sat behind his desk and happily assumed that Joja was there to stay, and magic was left for fairy tales.
As spring rolled into summer, little improvements continued. The annual luau was a bit more festive, and the pot luck just that bit sweeter. Everyone liked the Farmer, even the most jaded of residents had to admit that having them was a big help for the town. Pierre found himself with more stock than he knew what to do with, and had begun shipping it out the excess to the distant Zuzu city. Robin found herself almost constantly called out to the farm, as the Farmer was constantly asking for new barns and sheds. Linus was the first to notice the re-appearance of the magic. The green rain which the Farmer ran through happily, the little creatures hiding in the ruins of the community centre. The faint wails echoing from the mines. He quietly observed from a distance, but chose not to interfere. As distracted as he was from the local politics, even he could see the positive change that was occuring.
The Stardew Valley Fair brought new crowds with the recently fixed bus. Everyone knew who had fixed it up, but they had chosen not to come forward, so no one pressed the issue. With new tourists filtering through the town, it truly felt like the Pelican Town of Old. Welwick the Oracle glanced at the old Community Centre, ruined and abandoned, and then at the shiny Jojamart that stood nearby, and smiled to herself. She knew that someday soon the roles would be reversed. When Lewis checked the quarterly figures for the town, he nearly jumped out of his seat with excitement. For the first time in years, he was able to put back into the town savings, instead of skimming from the bottom as he had been.
It was a quiet winter's day when the Community Centre was restored. Lewis was going for his morning stroll, and something nagged at his brain, telling him to take a different route. As the grand building came into sight, he fell to his knees, and tried not to cry. Evelyn was next to notice, carefully making her way next to Lewis. She put a hand on his shoulder, and they simply looked on in wonder. "It's just how it used to be." Evelyn said.
Word spread through the town, and people came out to have a look. The inside was just as grand, with the reinstated town vault, plenty of areas for people to socialise and a proper office for Lewis to work at once more. Food was brought in, and they celebrated, harder than they had for a long time. More than one person had to dab their eyes from time to time, trying their best not to cry. The Farmer was the last person to arrive, and quietly watched the celebrations from a distance. A faint smile came over their face, and they seemed content.
It was a while before Morris found the community centre. He had only been out there once, to survey the land for the new warehouse he wanted built. The sight of the centre standing once more shook him to his core. In that instant, he knew that everything he had worked for was over. Despite his best efforts, the town had prevaled, and Joja had lost. Pierre officially saw to his execution, and he fled for Zuzu city in shame. The higher-ups in Joja Corp were not impressed, and Morris was never able to recover his position.
Life in Stardew Valley changed once more. The Community Centre brought everyone closer, made them feel like a real community. Lewis was able to fund more projects, clean up the town, make the festivals bigger. Willy's idea for the "Trout Derby" took off, and at the first annual event, more than a hundred avid fishers took off into the Cindersnap forest to hunt down the elusice Rainbow Trouts.
For Pam though, the biggest moment was when she came back from her shift at the bus station, and saw Robin setting up construction equipment where her caravan usually sat. At first, she was angry and afraid that she'd been moved, but when she heard what was happening, she openly wept and thanked Robin for her service. Pam knew that the house being built would ensure that Penny would have a stable future, with a place to come back to if she was ever in need.
Kent returned from his time as a prisoner of war, scarred and hurt. When he had left, the town was on it's last knees, and feared for it's future. To see the Community Centre standing once more filled him with a sense of joy he hadn't felt in a long time. Of course, that feeling was completely overrided by the ecstasy of seeing his wife and children happy and safe. It was a long time before he was able to open up about his experiences, but together they were able to heal and grow.
It was a warm, spring day, and Linus was foraging for salmonberries in the forest when a man appeared. He was dressed completely in black, with a broad brimmed hat and sunglasses to hide his face. Stars twinkled all over his clothing, as if you were looking directly at the night sky. Linus turned to look at him, and smiled. "Hello old friend. I was wondering when you'd show up next." The man in black smiled, and for a brief moment, you could see the blue skin beneath the hat. "I've been rather busy of late, but I thought I would just pop on in." No one else would see his firm grip on the valley, no one but the Farmer.
Sometimes, there were dreams. The townspeople would dream of screams and death. Creatures being slain where they stood, unable to stop the wrath of the monster. Children crying and running, reaching out for help, only for them to turn into doves and fly away, cooing cries of sadness. Some of the younger townsfolk would have vague memories of the farmer in a more intimate light. Perhaps a moonlit stroll, or a spring wedding, but then anger, and a sense of betrayal.
They would wake up in a cold sweat, trying desperately to remember what had made them chilled to the bones, but it always faded. Life in the valley is beautiful, but is it by their own volition or the hand that made it so?

I can see the inconsistency of Felix character is because he actually a character for there "Fans demand" :
Sooo you prefer 2D-Catnoir/Felix rather than our angel Adrien ? Here Felix ! He official debut in "Felix" ! He is Adrien cousin and a big jerk ! Hate him just like how I hate him too !
Wh- What ? You like him ? Fuck ! So you feel he is more competent that our pure evulz bitch teenagers ? Fine ! Here's Felix who manage to trick Gabriel in "Gabriel Agreste" ! Now He is as dangerous as Gabe
Oh Fuck ! You still like him and feel he is more "relevant" than our angel Adrien and my sweetie Marinette ? Here's I present YOU Felix join Miracuclass as "Dog Hero" and then sell all the Miraclouses to Gabe ! He is Evil ! EVil ! EVIIIIL !
What ? You asking me why he want Peacock Miraculous so much ?! Here I present you Felix as Argos ! He wiped humanity out-of-spite and try to create the Utopia for his own freedom ! He is misanthrope !
What A second ? Why... You... STILL.... EXPECTED... CHLOE... TO BE REDEEMED.... why she already... has many traits... to be put in "Complete Monster" territory ? Why YOU keep want her to be redeem like Zuzu and Pacifica just because having shitty parents ? FINE ! Here's Felix to be our Zuzu ! He is tragic little peacock... has tragic backstory.... shitty dad... and a handsome teenager.... pretty much like Zuzu right ? Now shut up and Go simp on him and Feligami already !
Proper redemption arc ? Who hell need redemption arc as long as he is "tragic and handsome" ? Don't worry... we will make Kagami as "senti" out-of-nowhere aside she wear different ring as excuse and a "horny possessive girl" who still can't move on from Adrien and make her Simp felix because he smell and looks like Adrien RIIIIIIIIIIIGHHT LOL
Honestly, it is pretty hilarious that Felix was meant to be seen as the actual character who went through a serious redemption arc compared to Chloe, when the writers pretty much speedran through every major part of it in time for the finale.
Like, say what you will about Chloe and whether or not you think she deserved to be redeemed, but at least the arc leading to her betrayal was spread across three seasons. Felix's redemption arc only lasted three episodes.
Because of the poor pacing, this is the character journey Felix goes through during the latter half of Season 5.
Emotion: "I'm going to wipe out all of humanity and create a better world! Wait, you think I'm insane for erasing your friends and family from existance while essentially committing mass genocide? WHAT HAVE I DONE?!"
Pretension: "Even though I've spent almost no time with you, I think I'm falling in love with you because you may be a Sentimonster person with strict parents like me. Of course, I don't love you enough to break my new moral code against using Sentimonsters or even answering for my betrayal of Ladybug."
Representation: "I'm finally going to do something to help Ladybug because her arch-enemy is getting in the way with my week-old relationship, and that moral code against Sentimonsters? I don't want to use Sentimonsters to fight, but using Sentimonsters to put on a play to convey information I could easily tell Ladybug myself, since my new girlfriend conviently learned her identity over ten episodes ago? Perfectly okay. And since I have a personal stake by wanting to protect both my cousin and girlfriend, surely, this means I'll get to play a big part in the season finale instead of just letting Ladybug do all the work, right?"

Speak Up- Sebastian (stardew) x GN!reader
A/N: Vent drabble to deal with too many emotions CW: Angst with a happy ending, Anxiety, mentions of sebastian leaving (doesn't happen), kissing ---
You reach out to him, desperate for him not to walk farther away. Your fingers search for his skin in the darkness that separate both of you. The shadows are of your own creation, they come with the short breaths and the thorns that tangle around your heart. Those prickling vines that twist around you ribs and spread up your throat.
You can't speak but relief floods you, pushing tears to your eyes, as you feel your fingers touch his palm. Sebastian turns, surprise fills his gaze, followed quickly by recognition.
He isn't going far, he is just going to Zuzu, the long distance will hurt but it's not the end. That's what he promises at least, but the wrenching of those horrible and nasty thorns in your tender flesh remind you of the pain, only the pain. They take away your hope.
You open your mouth, nothing but a strangled whine leaves your lips. You told him to go, you didn't want to hold him back, but here you are with your hands tangled together and tears streaming down your face.
He doesn't wait another beat of your frantic heart. He drops his helmet to the ground and drags you to him, so hard that you almost collapse against his chest. His scent of freshly cut pine, cinnamon, stale cigarettes, and the leather of his jacket fill your lungs, making you finally breathe. The exhale comes out in a wracking sob, it's ugly and twisted but it's such a relief because you no longer feel like you are drowning.
"D-don't," you breathe, it's too late you know it, but you say it anyways. "D-don't go-o."
Your words are broken by your wails on the mountain top behind his house and his fingers sink deep into your skin, finding purchase in the nape of your neck and your barely cotton covered shoulders.
"You mean it?" he asks, hazel eyes searching yours as if this is the words he's been waiting for.
You are the catalyst that's always been able to sway him from the path he always thought was his only choice. You nod, the guilt and shame at your selfish answer unfurls inside you but that you can deal with. Not the crushing agony, not the fear you might never see him again.
"Fuck," he sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "Why the fuck didn't you say so sooner? I could've..."
He shakes his head and wipes away your tears with gloved hands, ones that let his fingers peek out and allow you to feel the direct contact of his warmth.
"I won't go, but I need to...," he looks to the side and purses his lips. "I need to switch to a remote job. And I sure as hell need to move out of that house."
He shoots a scathing glare toward his mom's house behind the two of you.
"So that means you are stuck with me well and good, right? You ready for that?" he breathes, his lips hovering over yours as he uses one hand to angle your face towards him. "You ready to live with this mess?"
You laugh and every fear that had been building these last few months shatters, "I would only be so lucky."
He crushes his lips to yours, the kiss deep, slow, and he strokes his tongue against yours until you can't think of anything but the way he tastes. You can't think of anything but your fingers in his hair and the way his grip on your jaw and neck has tightened. It almost hurts but this pain is worth it.

Azula Week Day 3 - Non Bender Azula
Summary: Azula is her father’s second greatest disappointment. Now to go with a son who can’t bend well, he has a daughter who can’t bend at all. Everything changes when Azula’s new friends suggest that she can pretend to be a bender.
Note: Azula Week Day 3 - Nonbender Azula. This fic is very much a not as fleshed out concept/demo for something much bigger lol. But right now it’s gonna be another one shot because I don’t really know where to go with this concept. I guess ya’ll can think of this one an idea that someone else can steal if you like the concept.
Father had been disappointed with Zuzu’s poor bending abilities. She has heard the way father talks to him, seen the way he looks at him.
He wants nothing to do with his own son and all because Zuko sometimes makes missteps when running through his firebending forms.
Azula vows that she will do better.
When she feels that first spark, she will become the best firebender that her nation has seen.
Azula hadn’t realized that she should have already felt that spark.
That, that spark should have been innate.
She thinks that father had always known.
That father had been in denial; one child is inept and the other is unwhole.
His offspring shames him.
Every day she hears her father berating her brother, “useless, incompetent, fool!” Sometimes she hears other things; slaps, cracks, and shattered glass.
And so once again Azula tries to produce even a tiny puff of sparks until her head hurts and her little body aches. Just one little plume of smoke to hold in her palms, to show father. That’s all she needs. Just a little something to show that she is complete.
But the fire never comes.
Not even a little flash of it.
Tears cling to her lashes.
By ten years Azula knows that she is an empty thing. A cold thing. A fire that has never burned.
And she knows that father won’t keep her around.
He barely paid her any mind when firebending was a possibility. And now that Zuko has made some steady strides in his own abilities…
She tells herself that it is better this way. That it is better to have no attention at all than to get the kind that Zuko receives. That harsh, cruel attention. The scrutinizing eyes that never seem to glimmer with pride nor affection.
The truth is, Zuko will never be good enough.
At least Azula knows that there is no point in striving for father’s affections.
Zuko is still enamored with this fantasy that hard work might earn him love.
It still doesn’t make her feel better. Zuko is useful. Zuko is strong. Azula is good with a blade and she has her intellect but father can’t be bothered to talk to her let alone allow her to demonstrate how deeply she has memorized Fire Nation history, how elaborate her battle tactics are.
Mother engages her though.
Mother strokes her hair and murmurs things like, “you’re a very smart girl, Azula.” Even still, the woman seems uncomfortable with how invested Azula gets in strategizing. “The battlefield is no place for a little girl.”
Nonetheless, a little girl who can’t bend.
And so her dreams are dashed.
Dashed by a woman who truly does mean well.
Somehow the sweetness…the caringness of mother’s words make it hurt that much more.
.oOo.
Things change with one cheerful “hello!” Her name is TyLee and she wears and abundance of pink. She can do things that dazzle and enchant Azula; cartwheels, handstands, mid-air flips. And none of them involve bending.
Some of these tricks take on firebending forms, but most of them are of TyLee’s own creation.
TyLee’s best friend is exactly the opposite. While TyLee is bubbly and flouncy, Mai is stoic and unexpressive. She has a dry sense of humor and doesn’t talk all that much. She is an expert with a blade, Azula has never seen her miss a mark.
She can’t bend either.
“What can you do?” TyLee asks one day.
And Azula almost falls apart.
What can she do?
TyLee is an acrobat.
Mai is a knife thrower.
What is Azula?
Her mind can twist and bend in strange ways to rival how TyLee moves and she likes to think that it is as sharp as Mai’s blades. But comparatively, what good will that do her? What good in a place like this? A clever mind can only get her so far in an academy that prides itself on battle prowess.
She isn’t brawn, she is brains.
She isn’t muscle, she is wit.
“Nothing important, I guess.” Azula replies.
“You’re not a bender either?” Mai comments.
Azula shakes her head. “I’m pretty sure that that’s why father sent me here.”
“So you can learn to fight without bending?”
“To learn a new skill or to…” she trails off. To get her killed. The Royal Fire Academy For Girls is known for ‘accidents’. Azula is fairly certain that father has sent her here in hopes that she will have one and not return to him. That way he can be rid of her without having to muddy his reputation. He can get a new daughter, one that actually has fire.
Azula swallows. “I think that he just didn’t want me around any longer.”
“Because you can’t bend?” TyLee asks.
“Because I can’t do anything but read scrolls and win a few games of pai sho.” In fact she hasn’t lost a single game. Not even to the most seasoned players.
“So your skill is up here!” TyLee taps her head.
“Something like that, I guess.” Azula pauses. “But it doesn’t really matter because…”
“This nation is full of burtes.” Mai fills in. “They just don’t get that sometimes you can’t just punch and fireball your way to victory.”
Azula perks up because finally! Finally someone gets it! “I have outsmarted so many of father’s men but because I can’t also kick fire at them, they don’t see it as a victory.”
And she dreads that this is how she will live her whole life.
“Well have you tried pretending to be a firebender?” TyLee suggests.
“That sounds…ridiculous.” Azula frowns. “Nobody would buy it.”
“People here are dumb.” Mai reminds her. “You’re smart. Just throw a little creativity on top of it and I’m sure that you can fool some people.”
“But my father?” Azula frowns.
“He doesn’t sound too bright either.” Mai shrugs.
“Dumb or not, I think that he’d be a bit suspicious if his daughter suddenly started firebending…” Azula trails off as an idea comes to her. She exchanges a look with Mai. “Unless…”
“You begin your fake bending here?” Mai guesses.
Azula nods. “Exactly! Then it’s a skill that I’ve developed here. I can say that I discovered it during a desperate fight for my life!”
“How dramatic.” Mai sighs.
“It’s perfect!” TyLee grins.
Now all she has to do is figure out how to pull it off. Perhaps in the same way that Mai conceals her knives, Azula can conceal powders and matches. It will take some careful planning but Azula will make herself into the greatest firebender that the Fire Nation has ever seen!

hii I love your blog, your headcanons are really fun to read.
I just saw your pasta post and I wanted to ask you, could you write something similar, but with desserts? like, the bachelors and Bachelorettes favorite desserts, I they can cook them or not, etc
Thanks :) I hope you have a nice day
Love this idea! I will absolutely do this. tagging @bored-farmer
🍨 Stardudes Favorite Desserts 🍨
Alex
Despite working at the ice cream stand, he doesn't particularly like ice cream, but he enthusiastically shares suggestions for flavors based on your mood or preferences.
Alex is grateful that the owner lets him experiment with flavors. His latest creation? Pancake ice cream!!! Buttermilk ice cream with maple syrup and chunks of chocolate covered bacon. Oh yeah! Who doesn’t love breakfast?
Evelyn's desserts are the best in the world. He has a very "YOU-CAN-FIGHT-ME-if-you-disagree" mentality about it. He's uber protective of his Granny.
Chocolate chip is his fave. He won't even look at someone else's cookies, but if you're friends with both Evelyn and Alex, he would invite the Farmer to join a baking session. He would purposely throw flour in your hair to be playful.
As a kid, Alex recalls sitting in the kitchen and enjoying a cookie and milk after school. Evelyn would kindly ask about his day and sweep the crumbs off his shirt when he was done.
If in a romantic relationship with him, Alex would be strangely blushy if you swept crumbs off his shirt. He views it as a very caring gesture, and associates feelings of warmth and care with it.
When married to him, Alex is over the moon whenever you bake dog treats for Dusty.
Elliott
This man knows his wines and chocolates. Every chocolate has the perfect pairing. White chocolate and Moscato. Milk chocolate and Pinot Noir. Dark chocolate and Merlot.
Really loves chocolate covered pomegranate seeds. Any kind of chocolate covered fruit really. If you dance with him at the Flower Festival, he will send you chocolate covered strawberry as a thank you.
Leah talked him into painting with chocolate once. It was a messy experience. Watch the hair! Never again.
He savors every experience. He never eats fast. Each bite of exceptional chocolate is followed by a happy little hum.
Is actively petitioning Mayor Lewis for a Stardew Chocolate Festival. If in a relationship with the farmer, he would recommend their chocolate covered fruits and nuts, and suggest chocolate infused honey.
In the fall, he craves your pomegranate crisp. Would borrow an ice cream maker from Marnie to churn homemade fresh vanilla to go with this famous dessert. Probably called Willy over to help. He would show up at the farm, puffing hair out of his face, and surprise you with the dessert.
Harvey
Likes a little mandel bread with his morning coffee. A crisp, twice-baked Jewish cookie like biscotti. He pulls the cookie out of the jar, and nibbles on it while waiting for his coffee to brew. A delightful morning ritual.
His mother taught him how to make Sufganiyot (jelly-filled donuts) served around Hanukkah. Harvey pulls out his rolling pin, apron, and baking tools every year for this tradition. Then he serves the donuts down at the VA. While there he would try to cheer up Kent and Linus. His donuts are one of the only things that make them happy, and he takes pride in bringing joy to these men who served his country.
Harvey wouldn’t keep any donuts for himself. So if there are any leftover, he will pass them out for free at the Winter Night Market. Hey, they go great with coffee.
Closes the clinic for the day to drive to Zuzu in early winter. The city is the only place he can find the traditional Hanukkah gelt (gold coin chocolates) and candied dreidels. If in a relationship with him, he invites you along for the trip. You enjoy jazz during the road trip. He packs hot cocoa in a thermos and an extra scarf for the trip. He’s embarrassed to admit that he forgot an extra cup. You’ll have to share. (now Harvey, is that so bad?) 😉
Sam
Hands down. A root beer float guy. Any kind of soda float guy. Strawberry. Cola. Orange. Grape. Makes funny ice cream moustaches with Vincent. Jodi comes in the kitchen wondering what all the giggling is about.
Would be genuinely so surprised that people make alcoholic root beer. His excitable little grin warms your heart. Doesn’t realize how addicting these are. Would slosh back multiples on the lake pier with Shane (who is very what-the-fizzlesticks about it). Wakes up the next day with a hangover.
Absolutely a breakfast pastry lover. Cinnamon rolls. Muffins. Turnovers. Bagels. Croissants. Danishes. Strudels. Maple bars are, of course, his favorite.
When he was a kid, Kent would take him out early on Saturday mornings so Jodi could sleep in. They would pick up donuts, coffee, and the newspaper. When he arrived back at the house, Sam would whistle the Reveille (the military morning bugle song) to let his mom know they arrived. Jodi hated it, but Kent was secretly so proud his son remembered the song.
Would promise his whole class that he would bring something for the bake sale. Jodi always sighed because she wasn’t “informed,” but she made the desserts anyway.
Sam is pretty abysmal in the kitchen, constantly distracted, missing the timer, running back to the fridge for ingredients he forgot, leaving the oven on after taking stuff out. But if you offered to make sweets with him, he would make his absolute best effort.
An ideal date night would be making cinnamon sticks to eat with pizza drizzled with honey from your farm. If you fell asleep in his room, he would reheat a few in the morning and bring you coffee in bed.
Sebastian
Rolls his own mochi. He gets really into it too. Spends a day picking out the best ingredients.
Makes a cooking music playlist that sounds nothing like what a normal cooking playlist would sound like. Heavy metal, some goth punk, random alternative.
Headphones on, he would cook in the middle of the night. That's when he is least likely to be disturbed. Unless of course Robin is working late on your farm. If she happens in, he gives his mom a taste.
If in a romantic relationship, Seb would invite you to join him in making mochi. And he would carry you home after you passed out at 2am, tuck you in bed, kiss you on the forehead, and leave you mochi in your freezer.
Shane
He's a quick and easy kind of guy. Cookies, candy, ice cream. Gets a good employee discount at Joja so he can stock up on his faves. Best hangover food.
Frequently patronizes Alex's stand in the summertime. The ice cream tastes better. He might even hang out for a bit and chat gridball with Alex if he has nothing better to do.
Sometimes Evelyn leaves him cookies. He likes her rocky road bites. The crunchy sweetness is delicious.
Egg custard tarts are a favorite of his. Best with fresh eggs from the Ranch. Every year Marnie makes it for Shane on his birthday.
If in a romantic relationship with him, he would learn how to hand crank ice cream just for you, with fresh cream from Marnie's ranch and a big bag of ice from Pierre's (once Joja closes, he would get a job there).

can’t wait until they serve stardrop sorbet at Alex’s ice cream stand. It only happens once a year. Sets his alarm extra early that morning. Shows up before they’re even open.
would be over the moon if you baked him a golden pumpkin pie.
If in a romantic relationship, he comes home just for your kisses - it’s dessert enough. 😘 Brings you a treat from his latest travel spot.
Magnus
working on creating a dessert elixir - it would sweeten any poor quality food for a short time.
anything with black licorice - even in coffee.
definitely likes spooky treats - bat brownies, ghost marshmallows, candy corn pretzel spiders.
bakes winter star cookies every winter. Drops sprinkles all over the kitchen.
appreciates if the Farmer brings him sweets while he’s double checking the magical barrier.
Victor
has expensive taste and knows it. You can blame Olivia.
also loves stardrop sorbet. He makes happy little sounds when he eats it.
loves coffee-flavored desserts. Cappucino mousse is his self-declared favorite, but he enjoys coffee-flavored ice cream in the summers.
waits in line a long time for his favorite truffle popcorn. It may not be a typical dessert, but it’s a delicious snack.
orders tiramisu from a specific bakery in Zuzu City. If in a romantic relationship with the Farmer, he would share.
I'll do the bachelorettes next. Hope you enjoyed!

Every soul its particular aspiration

"Every age hath its own problem, and every soul its particular aspiration." - Proclamation of Bahá'u'lláh, by Bahá'u'lláh
-
The scratching of the charcoal grated on her ears. It wasn’t, per se, the sound itself. No, what made her teeth gnash and pulse thrum in frustration was the abject knowledge that such a noise was the product of an inferior product. Her teeth pulled back, An inferior product for an inferior person.
Sokka, offensive person that he was, took no notice of her snarling thoughts as he doodled on his sketchpad, tongue sticking out in concentration. Unfortunately for her, he was much more versed in big brother behaviours than Zuzu, and so needling him into compliance wouldn’t work.
She frowned at him, picking through her observations to figure out what sort of pressure would get him to bend to her will. The answer would come to her eventually, try as the healers might to dissuade Azula from her natural talents. They hadn’t succeeded in several years, and she was loathe to let anyone take away such a core tenet of her personality.
Humming interrupted her, a catchy jangle interspersed with words too quiet to be discerned. Her resolve broke into splintery fragments as she snapped, “Will you stop that.”
The Watertribesman stopped with an abrasive scratch of charcoal on paper, a baffled look on his face. “Drawing?”
“That too.” She was not pouting, she was not.
His idiotic look only strengthened, and Azula dug her nails into her crossed arms to resist lashing out. The bars of her so-called residence would be only a minor impediment, she was sure.
There was a beat of blessed silence. Then, “... Do you want to see?”
“No.”
“Aw.” He looked dejected, but she was feeling too churlish to smirk about it. Shaking the paper out, and releasing a fume of dust that made her frown some more, Sokka continued, “I mean, I kind of wanted to know what you thought.”
Azula blinked. What. “What?”
Indescribably, Sokka brightened, “Yeah! You’re like… scarily smart, and none of the others can figure out what I’m drawing.”
“I’m sure that’s because of your impeccable skills,” She drawled, but loosened her posture anyway in curiosity, squinting at the horrific mess the boy was making. Sokka helpfully displayed his creation to her, a hopeful grin on his face. Harrumphing, she arched a brow, “Perhaps it would be more useful if you drew intelligibly.”
“Hey, I’m intelligent!”
Azula drew in a deep breath, closing her eyes and counting to ten. Exhaling, and disgruntled on an entirely different level that no flames came with it, she said, “Idiot. I meant that you have no skill in accurately depicting what you’re thinking.”
There, that was helpful, yes? It followed the stringent instructions of her healers precisely.
Sokka frowned, and glanced down at his paper in doubt. Perhaps not, she thought, eyeing him warily. Zuzu was predictable when his fragile ego took a blow, but this insolent boy was relatively unknown. It irked her, idly, incessantly, that she didn’t have enough data to predict him.
“Oh.” A response that gave her absolutely zero information, and why couldn’t he be useful? Azula gritted her teeth, even as Sokka looked back up at her. “What should I fix?”
And that- that was unexpected. She huffed, lunging forward and grabbing the paper held tantalizingly loosely in the other’s hands, “Give me that.”
Obligingly, he handed over his charcoal too, watching her curiously. Azula laid the paper onto the floor, grumbling to herself that the miniature-sized desk was nevertheless too heavy to drag over, and smoothed it out over the strip of stone that laid between her cell’s bars and the plush rug Zuzu had graciously ordered to be installed. It was flat enough to be serviceable, at any rate – it’s not like Sokka’s drawings could get any worse.
She made a test scratch on one corner, making a disgusted noise at how unevenly the line was drawn. “What is this garbage?”
“Hey, I made that myself!”
“And you suck at it,” Was Azula’s tart reply as she practically threw it back at him, “What did you use to bind this, a little airbender’s hopes and dreams?”
Sokka frowned, but it was more petulant than truly offended – a part of her breathed a sigh of relief that he wasn’t hollering loud enough to bring the healers running. He squinted at the charcoal for a moment, before copying her test marks. “Well, I did make this by myself…” He murmured thoughtfully, rubbing his chin, “Usually I just nab a few off Zuko’s desk, but he’s making me buy my own because they’re for official purposes or something.”
He waved the charcoal at her, “The good ones are so expensive! Did you know that? I’m not going to waste my money when I can do it myself just fine.”
Azula leaned against the bars, bemused, “You bought the cheap binder, didn’t you.”
Sokka raised a brow at her, “Well duh. Budgeting master here, I’d rather not blow my entire budget on charcoal with how much I use it. Guilting Zuko into buying me ink blocks is enough work already.”
Despite her best efforts, Azula felt a laugh bubble up. “Zuzu’s so gullible, isn’t he?”
The boy nodded vigorously, “Oh absolutely. I have to not do it too often or Katara notices and makes me return them.”
They shared a commiserative silence. Azula used it to ruminate on precisely which face her brother would have made, and it was mildly entertaining to imagine how the waterbender would react. “Hm.”
“Hm?” Sokka blinked at her, looking away from the charcoal he had been staring so contemplatively at.
“You have too much air in your fire,” She said, instead of reminiscing aloud, “The grains are too coarse, and aren’t binding well to whatever wax or resin you’re buying.”
The resulting bout of silence was long enough to make her glance in the boy’s direction, only to see the consideration with which he peered at her.
“What?” It was more defensive than she would have liked, but she assuaged herself with the haughty curiosity filtering over it.
Sokka squinted, and she frowned. When he hummed, she huffed. Right as she was envisioning her revenge in the form of a singed and properly-offended Water Tribesman, he astonished her with the simple question of, “Is that why your fire is blue?”
Azula blinked, “Well. Yes.”
He nodded, as if that answered several problems at once. She paused, and saw in her mind’s eye the path his thoughts made – yes, it probably did. Impressive.
Sokka held out his charcoal, grinning, “Wanna show me how an Azula-made charcoal writes?”
-
It took several trials and errors, but between the two of them, the perfect stick of charcoal was made. Azula peered over his shoulder as he leaned against the bars barricading her room, a peculiar feeling of peace swelling at the sight of the smooth, liquid marks being drawn on the paper.
“Success!” Sokka crowed, quietly in deference to her proximity, and she felt a matching grin tug at her lips.
“Success,” She confirmed, then leaned to the side, “Now. What was that atrocious thing you were attempting to show me?”
“Huh? Oh, that-” There was a rustle of paper, charcoal stuck unerringly behind his ear and leaving a long smudge that amused Azula immensely, before the original piece of… artistry was unceremoniously shoved back into her direction, “How much of this is from the charcoal, do you think?”
She grabbed the drawings clumsily, the angle off and her complete reticence to ruin her robes with the sub-par material creasing the paper before she could maintain a proper grip on it. Grumbling, she opened the creased mass of papers, turning it a few times before it was at the orientation she vaguely remembered.
The effort made little difference, and Azula stared uncomprehendingly at what laid before her, tongue stilled only by the hopeful look on her co-conspirator’s face. He reminded her unerringly of Ty Lee, all buoyant airs reaching for the stars, and because of that her gaze was applied a bit more ruthlessly upon Sokka’s work in an attempt to glean value from what laid before her.
Pointing at a series of miniature, delicate lines in the assumption that this was some forming blueprint, she asked, “What’s this?”
“Oh! That’s the gear shaft!” He exclaimed, quickly reaching through the bars to grab one of the other papers, holding it up with a flourish, “I drew it in better detail here, the Mechanist at the Northern Air Temple told me it’s good to have separate pages for complex things.”
“Smart man,” She muttered, mind already ticking away as she saw the array of pages in a new light. It was quick work to put them into order, Sokka intuiting what sort of big picture she was going for. “Hmm. What is this, some sort of flying machine?”
He waved the charcoal at her exuberantly, pouting only for the dramatics when she glanced up and plucked it straight from his hand, “Exactly! See, I knew that scary brainy-ness could be used for the purposes of good!”
Azula raised an eyebrow, tone dry despite the notes she was amending in the margins of the designs, “Don’t get ahead of yourself.”
“Fine, fine,” He waved his hand, settling down so he could watch her work. It was flattering, really.
She preoccupies herself with the sketches, giving them a discerning eye while she shuffles them around. The niggle of inspiration is just out of reach, but it’s invigorating, the same spark Agni shows her when the air shifts to make way for her lightning strike- “Paper,” She demands, finger poised still over a path of least resistance, “And charcoal.”
It’s hurriedly shoved into the gaps of her cell, and she wastes no time in flattening out a couple of sheets, redrawing entire sections with quick strokes, words spilling into the margins as she notes design flaws gleaned from her own knowledge of the Mechanic’s work process. Sokka has a particular approach, but it’s obscured by his dubious technical artistry.
Winnowing out the core of his ideas is exhilarating, the flow of ideas evolving from curt questions to more involved conversations as they distilled the truth of this new goal.
It was… good. After Sokka left, promising to bring more reams of paper for the both of them, it was an easy thing to slip into the jetstreams of meditation.
-
The model in her hands is rough, the wood granted only a cursory polish to not prick her skin. Oiled paper imitated windows, allowing a glossy glance into the interior. Sokka had proudly displayed a cross-section, but it was a unique perspective to view the whole.
A packet of sweets rested between the sundry spoils of their work, and the nostalgia of watching Ran-Cha fold caramelized ash bananas into a dough to make that evening’s dessert made her sigh between shuffling pages, the candied coconut a delicate crunch to the pillowy softness of the bread. Sokka echoed her sentiment, lounging against the bars of her cell with a slice in his own hand, dragon-lychee juice in his other a cool complement to the still-steaming treat.
She settled the scale model to an unoccupied corner of floor, rearranging things so that the cross-section model was aligned to the papers that borne the idea to the world. In this, Sokka’s skill shone through, for the model was a precise replica of the drawings.
“How would it look if we angled the wings, hm-” Azula tilted her head, taking an idle sip of the juice Zuko had insisted Sokka pack (it was, admittedly, her favourite, so she wouldn’t complain too much), “Fifteen degrees? Not twenty, that’s too much.”
Sokka poked his head into the gap to better see the hinge her nail was tapping on. She tilted the paper a little, not minding the perpetual chalk dust any more that indicated impromptu revisions, so the other could see what she meant. He hummed thoughtfully, pulling away to rummage into his satchel for the compass that always accompanied him.
He tweezed the angle of the instrument, squinting at the paper through its gap. “Sixteen? Seventeen, maybe?”
Azula studied the hinge briefly, taking another bite of her bread, “We’ll try sixteen, and see about the pinion.”
“Absolutely,” Sokka agreed easily, pinching the compass to the requested degree and handing it to her to chalk up the new measurement. She sketched the revision quickly, picking up the first model with its articulated wings.
“We’ll need to make a lot of these,” She mused, wondering how it would look if- when they finished this project. A blimp that followed the air to reduce its fuel requirements was surely the next step in air technology.
“I’ll bring my kit,” Sokka promised.
-
It should be odd, to be allowed not only outside, but into the palace courtyards. It should, but it wasn’t, the sight of her and Sokka’s first full-scale model taking her breath away.
She paced around it, too preoccupied with observing how the light shone through the structured, thin metal of the wings and the actual glass windows that could open on their own, so different from the oiled paper of their scale models – the glimmer of Zuko’s dragonlike qi at the edges of the courtyard was overcome by the calculations she was already running in her mind about air pressure and currents and durability.
Sokka was beside her, equally as fascinated, holding up the plans to compare the model. He drew to a stop near the passenger door, the smoothly-oiled swing of it opening its own allure. “Hey, come look at this,” He said, gesturing her to look at the footwell, “Do you think this is enough room for the pedals?”
They had calculated for a conservation of weight, but she grimaced at the cramped space, withdrawing the charcoal behind her own ear to annotate the sheet Sokka handed her. It left a smudge of charcoal blending into her hair, but it goes unnoticed in favour of discussing scaffolding to increase space.
-
Azula’s breath fogs in the crisp, early-winter air, a parallel to the slumbering coals of her qi as Sokka pulls her toward the tarpaulin-covered model that – they hope – is fully operational.
The metal of the engine is cold, but that doesn’t deter them from debating the exact seconds needed between lighting it and turning the propellers for a full start, though they manage to hop onto the aeroplane before it takes off without them, barely missing one of the spiked towers as Sokka frantically pulls on the levers for steering.
The climb to the horizon is slow, Agni still climbing to full ascent despite the fog gathered in the dips of the caldera. It’s quiet for several tense heartbeats, but as they break past the minimum height their calculations call for, Sokka whoops in excitement.
It’s startling, freeing in a way that makes the war balloons feel hindering, and Azula can’t help her own unbidden yell of happiness when they successfully climb to their own ascent amid the noisily puttering engine.
“We did it! We did it!”

Author's Notes
Take one prodigy and heir apparent of a nation that flung themselves at least two epochs forward in terms of technological advancement and had a fall from grace that was frankly needed, add another prodigy and potential heir apparent of a war-torn set of inter-connected tribes with zero actual resources but his imagination, and shake the bottle until a friendship comes out. Two completely (and, I argue, complementary) different sets of genius in one room ought to come up with something extraordinary, no?
Every time I think too hard about the fact that the Fire Nation has a navy made of alloyed metals with furnaces, and a burgeoning air force also with alloyed metals with furnaces, I'm blown away by how much and how complex of math they need to accomplish this. Really, how does the ATLA-verse look like, knowing algebra and the concept of zero (and possibly negative numbers!) exists alongside metaphysics such as bending and the Spirit World and a literal, physical bridge between realities in the form of a reincarnated person?

Going to start posting regular updates of my process making Zuzu’s head. This is my first time making a fursuit head!
All of the fabrics I will be using are from Howl Fabrics. Head base is the tasmanian devil base by Nuke Creations, since it’s also perfect for an opossum!
Started working on the lining for the head and mouth, and sewed together their tongue! Tongue is three shades of minky, and will be stuffed with polyfill fiber and pellets.

“Hey, I brought snacks!” It hasn’t been two days since the injury incident, but the mechanic seemed to have fully recovered from it — at least mentally, since he needed to put a fuckton of concealer to cover up the annoying bruises left on his face. Other than that, though, there was a complete 180° in his mood, and it wasn’t like he was pretending to be okay for some noble reason either: the guy was just over it.
But what he wasn’t over, is how nice Izuru was to him during that time, hence why he made it a point to sneak into the the examination room with sweets in his pocket, immediately throwing his arms over the guy’s shoulders from behind in a half-hearted hug. “You know… you should start calling me Soda Claus! Or Klauz with a K and a Z, ‘cause the trip to get you the sweets really did make me feel like I’m Santa or something. Either way, how’re you doing, Zuzu? I missed you, y’know! Why weren’t you in class today??”

"You shouldn't be here-- I'm in the middle of a health examination."
Hence the hospital gown... The usual monthly tests the committee ran for their 'creation' to see if they were holding up to standards. That was one question answered.
"Unless you're actually here to fix something. Which I highly doubt."
He brushes off the mechanic's arm--- Careful not to remove the needles attached to his wrist, since he was hooked up to an IV drip.
The sudden mood change from a few days ago.... was.... odd. He understands people recover but it was unusually fast for someone to be over an event like that. No amount of concealer can hide that much; he didn't do a very good job, to Izuru at least. Then again, this was Izuru... he overanalyzes everything. Practically second nature.
"... You should leave before you get caught."

We’ve got a Sweet Kind of Love
Floyd Leech x GN Reader
Notes: established relationship!!, basketball club Floyd brain rot omg!!!, um eating popsicles is involved?? Not really a warning but not everyone likes or can have popsicles-, Floyd calls you by name but also Sea Pearl… I’m unoriginal okay? OH READERS GOT HAIR OF SORTS
Tumblr media
It was an unnaturally hot day today, as you were navigating to the gym with haste. You managed to snag a popsicle from the cafeteria and didn’t want it to melt so you were just running at this point, shielding your popsicle from the burning sun.
Approaching the gym, you could already hear the basketballs ricocheting off the rim of the hoop. Occasionally bouncing by the door, full speed, as if the person who threw it was trying to break the board instead of playing basketball.
Opening the door, the cool gust of air from the gymnasium’s air-con system hit, cooling you off but not nearly enough to calm down your body.
Quickly getting in and shutting the door, you could see the basketball club playing a game.
Not wanting to get in the way, you quietly walked over to the bleachers and sat on the floor. Opening the popsicle’s packaging, you could hear footsteps approaching before Floyd sat down beside you.
“Watcha got there, [name]?” Floyd asked, taking off his headband.
“A popsicle?” You answered, turning to look at Floyd.
Floyd was currently wiping the sweat from his face with a towel he pulled from who knows where, before he looked at you with a smile.
“Did ya get me one???” He beamed.
“No, I didn’t… it would have melted. Even mine is practically melted now.” You replied, looking at your popsicle a little sympathetically.
“Aw… I wanted a popsicle.” He grumbled, seemingly pouting.
“You can have a bite of mine.” You offered, pushing the popsicle towards him.
“You definitely won’t hear me sayin no!” He grinned.
“A bite, Floyd. One.” You instructed, only to see him bite off more than half of it.
“Hey, that’s a pretty good flavor!” He beamed, laughing.
“My.. My popsicle! Floyd!!” You stammered, looking at your popsicle which was now missing more than two thirds of it.
Hearing Floyd smack his lips caused you to only further sulk on the lost of it, as you began to slowly eat what was left of the cold treat.
“Hey sea pearl!” Floyd beckoned, nudging you.
The usage of the nickname was heard and you knew he was definitely going to do something unexpected.
Looking up at him, you weren’t able to even get a word out before he crashed his lips onto yours before pulling back with a grin.
“Don’t sulk! I’ll buy ya another one, a better one than the cafeteria’s!” He smiled.
“And you won’t eat this new one this time?” You asked, looking at him a little suspiciously.
“Aren’t you a silly little sea pearl? I’m gonna get myself one to, duhhh!” He laughed.
“Okay, fine… but you better keep your word.” You grumbled.
Floyd only responded with a grin, before getting up to head back to court. Ruffling your hair as if it retained good luck.

What if the Stardew Valley Farmer got a Trainee?
Okay, imagine: Depressed teen, third year of uni/college in Zuzu city doing biology and looking for an internship somewhere remote so they can get out of the city and see the world. Lo and behold, one day, someone responds to their ad. With a letter. It just appeared on their desk one day, right out of the blue.
Hi there! I heard you were looking for work somewhere remote so you could continue working on your biology degree. Well, I run a farm in a little place called Stardew Valley and I could certainly use some help. There will be plenty of opportunities to survey the natural wildlife that live around me, and the people of Pelican Town would love to see a new face!
If you would like to accept this offer, please sign your name down the bottom of this letter and send it to the address written on the back.
Kind regards,
ᛏᚻᛖ ᚠᚪᚱᛘᛖᚱ
Two days later, they find themselves on a bus headed into the countryside, carrying nothing but a bag of clothes and a toothbrush. Following the instructions that came in the follow-up letter, they arrive at a little cottage sitting in the middle of a giant paddock. There is no one around. Upon knocking on the door, there is no answer. The wind howls in the distance, but it sounds almost... alive. They sit there for a while, outside the cottage, too nervous to explore.
It was getting late, and they were about to get up and leave, but then suddenly, there's a massive BANG, jolting them from their stupor. And standing there coughing and spluttering, covered in slime and guts, holding a glowing sword and toting a bulging backpack is the farmer. They look down to see the kid sitting on their ass looking up at them with a bewildered gaze.
"Oh shit... you're arriving today. I'm sorry, this is really not a good first impression." Stretching out a slimy hand, he pulled the kid off the ground. "Hi, I'm the Farmer. Let's get you settled in." The Farmer's house was quite eclectic, with little trinkets scattered everywhere and a mismatched collection of artwork lining the walls, with windows squished between them in the most random of places. Throwing his bag on the table, they could just see the faint glow of a deep purple ore sticking out of it. "I-uh, haven't got much set up yet." the Farmer said "We'll get you a bed later, but for now, you can roll out a sleeping bag on the living room floor. I need a new house upgrade anyway, so you'll be fixed up with your own room soon anyways."
They didn't know what to think of everything so far, but hey, at least it would be interesting.
The next day, they were woken up at 6am to see the Farmer staring directly at them. "Rise and shine kid! The suns up and it's time to grind!" Ten very messy minutes and one pot of coffee later, they were outside in the cold, shivering in the one pair of pants they brought. The only sound they could hear was the quiet hiss of the sprinklers watering the multitudes of strawberry plants. They just seemed to go on forever, an army of green and red.
The Farmer - who seemed positively cheery - clapped their hands and strode towards a rows of coops and barns on the right. Upon opening the first door, a torrent of chickens fled out, including one that was bright blue. Moving on to the next coop, they opened it to find a duck, 2 rabbits and a giant lizard waiting for them. It was so large, it could barely fit through the doors to get out. Upon being released, it immediately raced past the poor kid to go chase a butterfly. When it caught it, it pinned it to the ground with it's foot and proceeded to fucking torch it with a burst of fire from it's mouth.
The farmer gave it a little pat on the head, and it trotted away proudly with it's crispy prize. "That's Bill. I'm sure you'll love her." They said. The barn didn't have any unholy creations, just some cows. They never thought they would be so happy to just see some cows.
For a few days, they worked on the farm, feeding the animals, planting and harvesting crops, avoiding the lizard from hell, and in their spare time, trying to actually study and complete assignments. On a rainy Friday, they walked into town to pick up some seeds and meet the people. Pierre was nice enough, but was distracted trying to sell the Farmer as many seeds as possible. They went to the Saloon for the evening, and they watched in confusion as the Farmer walked around the room handing out gifts to everyone in there. A bowl of spaghetti for a lady, who promptly stopped dancing with her husband to chow down on it. There were three people their age playing pool, and they could only classify them as the adventurous one, the emo and the puppy dog they adopted. Sam honestly just seemed to bounce around and have a good time. They were all given shiny gemstones and pizza, which they loved. It was very interesting to see everyone individually greet the farmer and get given a trinket or piece of food.
For a few weeks everything was calm, with mild weather and good spirits, they explored the world of Stardew Valley. There was wildlife (slightly toasted wildlife in some instances) surrounding them on all sides, but the people of Stardew interested them more. On the other side of town, a small museum sat only half-full with items, and upon asking around, they found out the Farmer had been providing all of the exhibits.
The beach was nice, if not cold. But Elliot was always up for a chat when they visited, and they found they both loved watching the ocean. Leah had some interesting sculptures, and knew where all the best spots were in the forest to view the wildlife.
And the Farmer. Well, they didn't know what to make of the Farmer. Some days, they were the life of the party, floating around handing out gifts as if they were Santa Claus. And other days, they just weren't there. They left at the crack of dawn, holding that strange glowing sword. They wanted to find out what happened on those days, but the Farmer never talked about it, so they never asked.
One day, they woke up to see the Farmer staring over their bed. Again. "Time to get up. We're going to the mines." "I'm sorry, what?" they asked. The only answer they got was a sword thrown on their blanket.
An hour later, they stood inside the entrance of the old mines in the pouring rain. They had taken the rickety minecart system, and they felt like they were going to throw up. "Here, eat this." The Farmer said, throwing them a piece of glowing rock candy. Why was everything always glowing? They ate it anyway, and felt a surging rush of energy. They felt like they could take on the world. And then, they were in a rickety old elevator, shooting down, fast, into the earth. The Farmer stood next to them, sword raised. "Get ready." The Farmer said. They raised their sword as well, very afraid.
The doors clicked open, and the Farmer bolted out. From out of their pack, they threw a bomb at a nearby cluster of rocks, which instantly exploded in a cloud of dust, leaving a small pile of gemstones. The Farmer didn't even stop to inspect what was left. They just kept running towards the next cluster. They stood there dumbstruck, watching the farmer sprint their heart out through this cave. They then heard a small noise, and as if they had materialized out of the walls, a small man shrouded in shadow was upon them!
They lashed out in fear with their sword, but the shadow man was faster, dodging neatly out of the way. They stepped backwards, into the elevator, sword raised. The shadowy creature lunged at him and- it exploded in an instant. From the other side of the cave, the Farmer held a sling in their hand, and it was aimed where the shadow person had been. "Keep moving if you want to stay alive!" the Farmer shouted.
Eventually, they completed ran out of stone to blow up, and they gathered up all the gemstones and other items. They sighed in relief, thinking it was over, until the Farmer pointed to a nearby ladder, going deeper into the Earth.
They emerged several hours later, covered head to toe in dust and monster guts. But their backpacks were full of materials. After a long shower, they flopped on the couch.
"Is that what you've been doing all this time?" they asked the Farmer. "No, actually." they responded "that was actually a warm up. There's a much more dangerous place in the desert I usually go. That was a warmup, so I wouldn't throw you in the deep end." The poor thought they might kill themselves at this point.
They did a few more trips to the mines over the coming weeks, and they did get better at fighting monsters. When they walked into town, they were treated with a new respect by the townspeople. They felt more confident, but the Farmer still came up with new ways to terrify them. The mines were nothing compared to the sheer chaos of the Skull Caverns.
During the Winter, the Farmer decided to dedicate an entire week to investigating the deep caves there. They called it "The Skull Caverns Dive." This was when the Farmer introduced them to magic. In preparation for the week, the Farmer showed them how to use a warp totem in case of emergencies. It was a very disorienting experience, but it was fast.
When the week begun, they thought they were prepared for anything. By day two, they bore bruises and scars across their body, compliments of the monsters of the Caverns. They watched in awe and fear as the Farmer turned into an absolute demon, storming through the caverns like a wrath of nature, destroying everything in their path. By the final day, even the Farmer was tiring, but the monsters never stopped coming. At one point, a flying serpent raced into the Farmer, who went sprawling into the ground. The serpent turned around and went for another pass, racing towards the Farmer. The serpent was fast, but they were faster. Slicing through the serpent with the borrowed sword, they dragged the Farmer to their feet and activated the emergency warp totem, sending them back home. They both crawled into their beds and slept well into the next day.
Eventually, the year was up, and they had to return to Zuzu city. They were still doing a degree, and it was time to head back to complete it. Most of the town came out to say goodbye, and more than one of them had tears in their eyes. Right as they were about to leave, the Farmer came up to them. They pushed a small package into their arms. "This is a reminder of your time here. You can return whenever you want, you know. There will always be a place for you in Stardew Valley."
On the bus ride home, they opened it to see a dagger, pulsing with energy, along with a small scabbard. They tied it to their belt, and swore never to part with it.
When they returned to live at college, everyone gave them a newfound respect. Perhaps it was the way they walked, or the knife strapped to their belt. People could just feel the danger radiating off them. Their old friends hadn't changed too much, and while it was nice to see them all again, it wasn't the same. No monsters to fight, no fire breathing lizards to feed, no monumental harvests and re-plantings.
When they graduated, the swore to return. Because there was something special about Stardew Valley, and now because it was home.

Blogpost #7
This weeks readings focused on the concept of montage and how the sequencing of images in time can be used stylistically to highlight certain aspects of the images contained within. In the case of Battleship Potemkin (and the Soviet School in general), the focus of montage is often on showing opposition (sailors vs. officers, one vs. many, etc.) and with an emphasis on dialect and logical/concrete meaning rather than spiritual or psychic composition.
For my semester project I have been focusing on learning how to use DeepDream (a gradient ascent method invented by google in 2015 using TensorFlow to find patterns in noise based on training data). I have fed it some previously-created images, shown here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Without resampling image, the result is low resolution and blurry. I also attempted to find patterns in too small of regions, making the result indistinguishable from noise in some parts of the image (image 1). Resampling image to process smaller chunks + setting octaves (minimum size to find a pattern within) gives a better result (image 2). This was made using a pre-trained model from Keras called InceptionV3 (this is the default model used by DeepDream). I would like to try to run the same algorithm using different pre-trained models from both Keras and Caffe.
I have also been looking into Live Coding (a technique used to create music and images in real time using code). I attended a live performance at Zuzu last week, and have begun to learn Gibber (https://gibber.cc/). I hope to further explore generative art with a temporal aspect in both sound and image creation. This, by-happenstance, fits in nicely to the topic of the week on montage, since this technique is used to generate montages of both sound and image. I would be interested in trying to make Live Coding pieces inspired by the schools of montage in this week's reading. This week I will also be meeting with Prof. Nick Montfort (who performs Live Coding and researches generative art at MIT) this week to explore further and to discuss the IAP course I am creating.

Everyone seems to prefer reboogles over likes, and I'm too deep in this fandom not to give them anymore. (Also, I can't sort my likes by tags to find squat.) So here I'll list what my tags will be so if I or anyone else is in a mood for a particular character, media, or aesthetic, all I gotta do is click a tag. (Expansion mods not included.)
As 99% of what will be reblogged is art, it will not have its own tag. However I will use #panda writes on my own work, #others writings on works from other authors. (For the full list of my works, look under Stardew Valley on @themerrypanda's pinned post.)
Character Categories:
Individuals:
Every named character included or mentioned will be tagged as their first name alone (e.g. #evelyn #kent).
Exceptions for obscure characters like Marcello (#minor characters) and farmer OCs that are not my creation (#other farmers).
My OCs get their own tags prefaced with oc (e.g. #oc nicole).
Groupings of Characters:
My OCs have their own general tag (#pandas ocs).
Any mystical character (named: Dwarf, Krobus, Wizard, Welwick, Mr. Qi, Witch, (goblin) Henchman) or animals with magical traits (e.g. Hat Mouse, Trash Bear); and unnamed like junimos, mermaids, and slimes) fall under the general tag #magic
All human villagers (excepting the bachelors and bachelorettes and wizard) fall under #villagers. Works focused on interactions within a family fall under #family.
There are three categories for the dateable singles.
#bachelors  for any to all the men
#bachelorettes  for any to all the women
#bachelor pad  for works that feature at least three bachelor(ette)s with both sexes represented among the three
Animals:
There are three categories for animals, all of which (except for characters under the #magic tag) fall under the general #animals tag:
#pets are for cats, dogs, horses, and other traditional pets. This includes Dusty (Alex’s dog) and David (Abigail’s hamster).
#farm animals are for the animals kept in a coop or barn. This includes Charlie (Shane’s chicken) and Belinda (Marnie’s cow).
#nature animals are for the typically wild critters. This includes Emily’s unnamed parrot, Elliott’s pocket crab, Leo’s parrot friends, and Sebastian’s frogs.
Events:
Works depicting heart events, the giving of a bouquet, or weddings with a bachelor(ette) fall under #heart events.
Cutscenes not necessarily connected with a romantic interest (e.g. Community Center restoration) fall under #cutscenes.
Works set during a festival fall under #festivals.
Works set before a farmer character appears in Pelican Town fall under #flashbacks.
Backgrounds: (TO BE REVAMPED)
Background-focused works fall under #backgrounds.
Works with a general outdoors background falls under the tag #outdoor scenery.
Works with a specific setting or including props specific to a setting (e.g. Stardrop Saloon’s pool table) will be tagged by its setting. (Not all of these will fall under the #backgrounds tag.) Current tags include #ginger island, #stardrop saloon, #cindersap forest, #mines, #town square, #village homes, #zuzu city, #community center, #movie theater, #clinic, #farmhouse, #ranch, #library or museum, #sewers, #mountains, #spa, and #beach. I will likely add these ones as well as I share more works that take place there: #calico desert, #secret woods (includes the wizard’s tower).

Dates with the bachelors
Harvey - coffee shop on a Sunday, he brought you flowers in a mason jar. mugs of steaming coffee, organic cranberry muffins, doing the crossword together, enjoying quiet jazz in the background, stealing looks with little blushes, sharing random health facts and news bits and things about the weather, talking about meeting up for a workout sometime and realizing you might need to update your athletic wardrobe, but then remembering this man has seen you in ripped overalls and muddy boots and does not seem to care
Elliott - moonlight beach picnic with wine and fire roasted lobster (only the best for you, dear), rolling up pant legs to dip your toes in the water and playfully splash each other, snuggling with the picnic blanket, reading plays aloud as originally intended, feeding each other chocolates and pomegranate seeds for dessert, nestling your nose in his lovely hair as you lean against his shoulder, he kisses your hand as he shares his affection for you is growing
Sam - trip to rock and roll museum in Zuzu, laughing and holding hands, sharing random trivia about your favorite songs, him kissing you mid-sentence as you talk enthusiastically when he realizes you love the same stuff he does, smiling and folding the collar on his jean jacket and kissing him back as you wrap your arms around his neck, finding the best pizza shop and enjoying a slice while hanging out at the skate park to watch the sunset, realizing you missed the bus back to Stardew Valley, listening to street musicians, grabbing late night donuts from a hole-in-the-wall place (mmm... maple bars)
Sebastian - a semi-awkward dinner at an expensive sushi restaurant in Zuzu, then mutually realizing fancy dressup dinners aren't your thing, motorcycle ride to the overlook, making wishes on shooting stars, talking about his plans to create his own RPG and giving him feedback and ideas as he's excited you're interested, and when it starts to rain, you take shelter in an abandoned cabin, he lights a roaring fire (surprisingly reveals he was a Boy Scout... also his mom is the town carpenter), and you stay up all night talking about game mechanics, worldbuilding, and character creation, and in the morning, as you both prepare to leave after the storm, you stand on your tiptoes in the doorway and kiss him, thanking him for a lovely night.
Alex - meets you at the bus stop with his pickup and he smiles because you teasingly steal his ball cap and wear it backward, and he thinks it looks good on you, driving you to the city while listening to country tunes, windows down, fresh air blowing, singing off key, arriving at a gridball game and enjoying ballpark franks, cold brews, and garlic fries, cheering loudly for your team, impressing him with your pro knowledge, standing between his arms so you don't keep jumping up and annoying the people behind you, feeling his hands squeeze you gently, learning he's actually really great at massage as he's helped George with physical therapy, making out like teenagers in the truck after your team wins, remembering Evelyn packed you homemade cookies for the trip, taking the long route home so you have more time to talk and enjoy each other's company.
Shane - sneaking a couple of sandwiches, pieces of fruit, chips, and colas out of the back of JojaMart, sitting near the dumpsters and he lights a candle from the market to help with the scent, feeding the stray kittens who wander by, noticing how gentle this giant of a man is with the animals, feeling warmth and pride, interrupted by Morris who yells at Shane for breaking the rules, and after he returns inside, you decide to do something that would really irk Shane's boss - you sit on his lap facing him and kiss him passionately, fingers in his hair, legs wrapped around him, and after coming up for air a few minutes later, he asks when he can see you next.
