Daydreamers who like to imagine a world completely different from reality when they walk down the street will find a sweet familiarity with Noragami. A very special shonen with a unique universe, it is in the characters and their story that lies the great success of this anime with sober colours and an atypical style.

Yato is only a god forgotten by the population and who has very few powers. Wandering the earth with no real purpose, he meets by chance Hiyori, a quiet high school girl who becomes a half ayakashi after her meeting with the god. Discovering a world that coexists with her own, full of gods and wannabes, competition and violence, she quickly learns to juggle her life as an ordinary high school student with the life of a half ayakashi with superhuman strength. But all this is very fragile as Yato's enemies are numerous, and Hiyori can lose her life at any moment if her spiritual tail is cut off.

At first, disconcerted by what happens to her, Hiyori quickly adapts to this new life. As she learns about Yato, his past life, and his relationship with the other gods, she becomes attached to him and Yukine, his shiki. Wishing to help them in their difficult quest, they face together the difficulties which impose themselves on them and of which Yato seems to be the primary cause according to the other gods...

Showing great resilience and fascinating ability to adapt, Hiyori quickly moves away from the cliché of the female shonen character. Her vision of a simple high school girl brings a fresh note to a dense and dark story. If the action scenes are numerous and bring a good dose of thrills and adrenaline, the anime explores a lot of the relationships between the characters and their evolution. Giving a touch of sensitivity to a shonen already atypical by its universe, this very well-worked aspect only makes the story more complete.

Internal exploration of emotions, a very original urban fantasy universe, and an emotionally strong story, Noragami has everything it takes to fill in the boxes of anime not to be missed. Staying in the shonen category due to its theme, it is one of those originals that we enjoy watching for a welcome change in this vast shonen world! Take your offerings, prepare your wishes and go without delay to the shrine of the god Yato for a life full of happiness!
