D - Depraved: Does your yandere have a shrine? (If so, what's on it?)

I don't think Ed is really the type to have a dedicated shrine, though I do think he'd have keepsakes of yours around his work area or on his person. Pictures of you, writings or doodles you may have made that he was able to snatch up (maybe even saved out of the trash), pieces of clothing that he was able to cut or rip off… You know, normal stuff! Little things to sate him while he couldn't be with you.

I can also see him considering the crimes he committed in your names as a sort of ‘shrine to your love’.

E - Erratic: How unpredictable are they? How quick are mood changes?

Ed prefers sticking to plans when it comes to his crimes, but he can be prone to unpredictability when it comes to social interactions, typically. He can be prone to paranoia and reading into things. Inconsequential words or even a change in tone or expression could be suddenly seen as slights or insults against The Riddler, which can lead to explosions of anger and accusations of betrayal towards civilians, the authorities, Batman, or in the latter case, his hired help.

But with you, Riddler feels at ease. Any paranoia is soothed by your presence. With you, he feels so at ease. So right. His equal. His match. His soulmate! Any desperate need for validation is quelled by you. Even if you argue and fight with him, he'd know it's not anything you have against him - well, not really. It's not your fault you've been lied to! You'll understand that you and he were meant to be after he helps you unlearn all the horrible things the idiots of this city have force-fed you.

After all, if you weren't perfect for one another, why did he feel so safe and secure with you?

I - Intimacy: How intimate are they with their darling?

Ed is so touch-starved it's not even funny. He never wanted to be separated from you! Be prepared to be basically smothered in affection. Hugging, cuddling, nuzzling, smothering you in kisses - everything he's missed out on, he wants to finally make up for. All his time spent waiting for the perfect partner is finally worth it now that you're here! And as stated above, he won't get angry if you don't reciprocate. You're just confused, it's okay.

Any attempts at fighting him or cursing him out will just lead to him cooing to you condescendingly as he ties you up in restraints so you can calm down… Though, he may not be able to hold back from being affectionate before you're done with your time-out. He just adored you so much! You know, exposure therapy is a very effective treatment for aversions, and this would be the perfect opportunity to show how wrong all those fools in this cesspool of a city were.

OOOO- this got ideas flowing! This was super fun to write! I feel as if it's an underused concept too.

●It was all fun and games. Literally. You ran around the vr world of gotham with no thoughts of anything going on behind the scenes.

●When Riddler first popped up, taunting and challenging you like usual, it surprised you. Maybe even startled you a little with his greeting.

"So I've finally found you. Yes. You. The brains behind the brawn."

●You figured it was just a clever voiceline detail. Making him self aware and all. RIddler had broken the 4th wall in the past, and Arkham Knight VR wouldn't be the first game to do this kinda thing. Take DDLC for example. It was just a gag. Right?

●You found the riddlers secrets just fine, picking up little cube after cube, faster than most actually. It was fun, challenging rewarding. You'd talk throughout the game to yourself and make some witty jokes. You thought nothing of it, but something else surely did.

●You notice.. maybe after a month. The voicelines seem- they feel, more personal. More directed. More specific, but they're still vague. It was just a coincidence right? Maybe the game was just reading off the information from your VR and connected accounts.

●So the games coutinue! Nothing gets better. He starts talking during segments you know he isn't supposed be. You start to see glimpses of green out of the corner of your eye. Did you meerely get a buggy defective game? Was paranoia fogging your brain? Were you going insane?

●You take a break from the game. Hoping it will relive the stress you were under. You do some chores, go out on a walk, and play some games on your phone or PC.. which are running slower than usual. Strange, you could have sworn it fine yesterday. You check for viruses, nothing. You turn it on and off. It helps a bit. You free up some storage and It's back to working order for the most part.

●You find various electronics turned on when you could have sworn they were off. They're running slow again, barely working. The only thing that works is the VR game.. you reluctantly put the headset on.

●It was fine at first. Then it wasn't. He was talking directly to you. Referring to you by your name. Taunting you. Telling you personal information he couldn't have gotten. Appearing in the darkness of the out of bounds area in front of you. Your heart and mind racing as he gets closer, you desperately reach up to pull the headset off-

●Only to find nothing. There's nothing. No headset to pull off. No controllers in your hand. Nothing. Unable to go back. The only thing you're greeted which is the Riddler standing in front of you.. face to face. Only inches away.

"It's not so much of a game anymore is it?"

dark!ed nygma x reader: And then one day, he got it. He finally got it. If he couldn’t earn admiration in the way he wanted, in the way he deserved, the most obvious course of action was to demand it. To take it. To steal it. By any means necessary.

There is a threshold for pain. Chronic or acute, it doesn’t matter.

Everybody has their limits.

Ed knew this better than anyone. He was always made very aware of his limitations, for as long as he could remember. In spite of his intellect (and sometimes even because of it), he felt like an alien all his life. To understand people and to simultaneously be so disconnected from them was a confusing way to live. He was clever obviously, but too awkward to fully embody it, to carry that sharpness. Handsome in his own estimation, but not enough to distract from his quirks. Cheerful and friendly, but a massive pushover. A punching bag. A coward.

Pathetic.

Long before all of this, deep down he knew that he had to make some changes if he wanted to be happy. He had to stand up for himself.

But here was the kicker: it seemed like the more he tried to tap into his strengths, the more disdain people had for him. Now that he presented himself differently, viewed himself differently—now that he stopped underselling and underestimating himself, now that he embraced who he truly was—people seemed to despise him even more. But he wasn’t just an annoying little fly buzzing around in the periphery now. No. Not this Ed. Not anymore.

Now people saw him as more of a rattlesnake than a fly. The idea really did amuse him. So he robbed a few banks and made a couple of bomb threats. Big deal. If only all these moronic locals that saw him on the news knew what he was like before The Riddler started coming around. He supposed it was better this way, though. Being maligned felt a lot more empowering than being mistreated.

Not to mention, he had you now.

But he was also losing you. This was not unlike before, and yet it was also radically different. This situation with you...it was quite the conundrum. Confusing. Confounding.

Infuriating.

Before he kidnapped you, he had you in a different way. He had your friendship. He had your support. He had your love and attention. He had your adoration and affection, even if it was strictly platonic. But that was just it. Year after year, your relationship began as and would continue to remain platonic. He rolled his eyes at the thought, just as he’d done so many times before. Friends. You used to say it all the time.

“I’m so glad we’re friends, Eddie.”

Bittersweet was the most fitting word for it. A warm hug followed by a killer punch to the gut. Ed loved that you made it a point to include him in your life (and more importantly, that you showed interest in his). But he didn’t want to be your friend. He never wanted to be your friend. Still, you were there. He may not have had you in the way he truly wanted, but you genuinely cared about him. For a while, that was enough.

But again, everybody has their limits.

“I can be cracked. I can be made. I can be told. I can be played. What am I?” he mumbled to himself, fumbling around with the glow-in-the-dark rubik's cube you had gotten him for his birthday all those years ago. He could recall solving it in a matter of minutes back then, but now for whatever reason he was struggling to piece it together. This was also infuriating. He blamed it on his nerves. The past few days had been nothing if not nerve wracking. He turned to stare out the window, trying his best to quietly kill time as he waited for you to wake up. It was the one window in the house big enough for him to sit comfortably along the window seat. The others were way too small to accommodate his height. Rain pelted down against the windowpane in thick sheets, blurring the gloomy image of the city down below.

Ed wasn’t completely void of empathy. He understood why you were upset with him for not letting you go outside. But it was kind of funny, really. You weren’t missing out on much.

Well, that wasn’t technically true. It was Gotham. There was always some madness going on.

Nothing safe or enjoyable, though.

As the years dragged on, Ed’s resentment grew. “I must just have a punchable face,” he would say, given how he managed to alienate most everyone in his life. His strangeness became particularly evident when he got his first (and last) job working in forensics. His coworkers at the GCPD were about as fond of his riddles and sparkling personality as his classmates had been growing up. He couldn’t wrap his head around it. Was it really so hard to give credit where credit was due? Was it really that difficult to show a little appreciation to someone that proved to be so useful, to give somebody a bit of positive reinforcement or encouragement every once in a while? Was he really that unlikable?

And then one day, he got it. He finally got it.

If he couldn’t earn admiration in the way he wanted, in the way he deserved, the most obvious course of action was to demand it. To take it. To steal it. By any means necessary.

That resentment continued to grow, but not only towards his coworkers. As ashamed as he was to admit it, he also began to resent you. Yes, you. The only person who once upon a time, supplied him the steady stream of the validation he had been so desperately pining for.

His anger towards you was really pretty simple in its origins. You didn’t view him as an option romantically. You hadn’t even thought about it. He could see it. And in Ed's eyes, this was completely ridiculous.

It was just so illogical. He was clearly the best option for you. He was the option. Why wouldn’t he be irked by you for failing to recognize something so blatantly obvious? You were so much smarter than that.

But looking at you now—bruised and battered, tied up tight in his bed—he was becoming increasingly aware of the pain his faults and limitations had caused. Not only to him, but to others as well.

He still had you, but only in proximity. In possession. He didn't really have you. Not mentally, not emotionally. He didn’t have your heart anymore. Not even as a friend.

Although he promised himself he wouldn’t, he was beginning to slowly force his affection on you. Perhaps that was what kicked this all off in the first place. Tying you up and cuddling you, kissing you, playing with your hair, “accidentally” groping you. Admonishing you with the threat of withholding basic necessities if you ignored or upset him. Screaming at you, taunting you, slapping you in the face when you refused to say or do what he wanted. Just a few hours prior, he had done all of the above.

“You think I want to do this? You think I want to hurt you, that I’m some horrible monster?” he mocked, his voice cracking. He felt like he was jumping out of his skin, shaking from the adrenaline as he trapped you underneath him. As angry as he was, he still hated seeing you so distressed. "Distressed" was putting it pretty mildly, actually.

Petrified. You were petrified. And it made him sick to his stomach.

He had seen you upset dozens of times before, but it was an entirely new feeling knowing he had been the cause. Equal parts powerful and devastating. Was it sick that a tiny part of him liked that he could affect you emotionally on that level?

It made him a little afraid of himself.

“Please say it. Please say it. I don’t care if you cry while you say it, just say it!"

This had been a lie, of course. He did care when you cried, which you did an awful lot of lately. He cared very much. You never smiled at him anymore. Not once since he brought you home.

Not once.

He clamped his eyes shut, willing his mind to go blank, to shake the memory away like an etch-a-sketch. His own words echoed around in his head, punctuated by multiple slaps to your face.

“Just tell me you love me and I’ll stop. Tell me you love me and I’ll stop!”

He hit you six more times before he finally gave up and collapsed on top of you. There was a moment of silence as you both caught your breath. And then finally, finally you spoke.

But it wasn’t exactly what he wanted to hear.

Your voice was strained from crying so hard. “I trusted you.”

Ed realized he had lost a little piece of himself that night. He thought he already arrived there long ago, but he was wrong. He had finally, finally reached his threshold. Evidently, so had you.

You cried together. He wondered if the pit in his stomach would ever go away after that.

“A joke.”

"Jesus Christ!" Ed jumped and knocked his head against the wall, nearly dropping the rubik’s cube in the process. He turned to face you, all dark circles and glassy eyes. Your voice had come out just as raspy as it was the other night, only this time it was due to a deep and much needed sleep. “You startled me.”

“A joke,” you repeated.

His brow furrowed, confused.

“I can be cracked, I can…I don’t know,” you sighed. “Your riddle.”

His heart swelled. You were willing to indulge him, even after all of that?

So he did have you.

He smiled, an earnest, warm little smile. “Correct.”

Oh, how correct you were. A joke. The universe was playing a joke on him, and a very cruel one at that. You hated him, and yet some small part of you still loved him. Not to mention, you owed him. He had been single handedly taking care of you for weeks now. So what if you were tied up in his bed? What did that mean in the grand scheme of things, so long as you two were together?

“Well, sleepyhead,” he cleared his throat, trying his best to appear composed. He stood from his spot along the window seat and began slowly walking towards you, setting the rubik’s cube on the bedside table. “Are you ready to talk?”

Note: I did this as soon as I saw this request I swear I’m going feral. I probably won’t ever write HCs as long as this, I just got really into this one.

Okay so, I presume this is during Knight, I don’t know why, but his appearance in that game gives me the most yandere or possible yandere vibes. Idk why.

So, how would he become a yandere is a very good question, that is rather easy to answer.

When he sees you, he sees a shining light. Someone who is on the same level as him, someone whose brighter and smarter then everyone else in this hellscape of a city. Someone who would be perfect to be with him.

I mean you were just like him! Smart, problem solving, absolutely stunning! Why would he let you be oogled and stared at by other men, when he can do you a favor, and take you himself.

As I said he sees what he does as a favor. You should be grateful! The worlds smartest man has taken you in, why should you complain? It’s better then being out there.

Okay but going back to him first seeing you and stuff.

He was probably scooping out perfect victims for his new trap, he needed someone your weight and height, but he didn’t expect to find you.

You had been out on his radar after he spotted you out somewhere. He quickly found your name, your address, your criminal record (if you have one), your personal info, everything like that.

He began to watch you, to figure out the best time to snatch you up, when he began to realize who you were. Not in a literal sense he already knew who you were, but your true personality.

Your wit, your kindness, your love for everyone and everything around you. Most of all your intelligence and determination to problem solve.

At first he laughed, someone trying to be as good as he was, but he kept watching, unable to rip his eyes from you while watching play a puzzle game through your monitor. Being amazed as you solved the puzzles almost as quickly as he did.

He began to watch you more and more, through anything he could. Computer cameras, phone cameras, surveillance cameras, having his men follow your around and reporting back to him.

He said it was simply because he needed to know more about you, to make sure you’d be perfect for his trap.

But everyone knew that was a lie. He watched you for hours on end, even if you were simply sleeping, or scrolling through your phone. He’s skip meals, forget to sleep and bathe, he’s even forget to do his work. He just, stared, not knowing why, he just felt so compelled to.

When he was finally pulled to his senses as you were in a cafe, talking, chatting, even laughing, with another man.

Watching you, listening to your conversations and it’s this mystery stranger, god it made his blood boil. He didn’t like it, he hated it even. His new obsession was being chatted up by a new fella.

He had spent the last- he didn’t even know how long, must’ve been week, maybe even months, doing nothing but watching you. Writing down every little detail of you, and this- absolute bastard thinks he can just come on and ruin it!

He hates that he cares so much about this, about you. He then started to build a new trap, a new torture room. Suited specifically for that man you were talking to, and unlike the other ones, this one was impossible for I get out of. Well, maybe not for you, but for that wretch you were talking to.

He was nothing, he was worthless. He didn’t deserve to talk to you, and you bet Ed was going to make that known.

He was going to broadcast it, to everyone. Making sure the entire city knew how stupid this man was, not being able to solve simple puzzles. He was especially excited to see your reaction, when you realized the man who was talking to was a complete fool, a moron.

After that he becomes more protective, more obsessive over you. Fuck he won’t admit it, but he needs you.

This leads to his plan, he makes him home luxurious, a place you would never want to leave. He keeps you there, making sure he was the only one to be able to be with you, to talk to you, to touch you.

He orders his henchmen to stop whatever there doing, and start doing all these, what seems to be random tasks for him. Clean up his home, buy new furniture, make it seem like his home was a haven. A sanctuary from the outside world.

While they are doing that, he starts making his crimes more extravagant, an almost mystical vibe. He does anything to draw attention from you, and when he watches you watch the news broadcast, he’s paying attention to every little thing your doing.

Are you watching? Did you like his performance? Are you blushing when they show his face? Was that a smile? Did you like it?? Should he do it again? Whatever draws your attention most is what he’ll do.

He then approached you, although not in person, through letter.

He sends you a letter, a pale white envelope sealed with a green heart sticker. A hand written letter lying inside, compared to his usual handwriting, you would never guess it was from him, by the beautiful cursive he practiced so hard to do.

“Dear S/O, please don’t be alarmed, but I’ve been watching you for quite awhile now. I know that sounds bad, but I promise no bad intentions come with my observing. I wanted you to know, I know how you feel, how you think, how you know and how you love. I would come and see you, but this’ll have to do. - E.N,”

This letter rocked you to your core, someone has been watching you? Before you could even process this, a cloth is placed over your mouth.

He had sent one of his men to come take you back to his home.

When you arrived he was thrilled. Finally, you were here. After all of the preparing he had done, you had finally arrived.

He cannot wait to show you everything, his home, his intelligence, and all that he’s done for you.

Pairing: Romantic

Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?

Riddler often contradicts himself with his feelings. He both wants you to praise and worship him, yet he also wants to cling and praise you for staying with him. He's an insecure narcissist which can make him a handful of a yandere.

He's intense and very emotional as a yandere. He can both be ruthless with you yet soft. Riddler is a mess of emotions which makes him come off as overbearing and needy as a yandere.

Much to your discomfort.

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?

Riddler doesn't really like to get his hands dirty that much. He may make robots or traps/riddles to do it. Point is, he wouldn't really kill someone barehanded.

He tends to use his genius and tools to solve such an issue.

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?

Yeah, Riddler does seem like the type to mock his darling. He'd outright mock them or tease them at first before realizing that isn't going to yield results.

He'd most likely restrain you somewhere, be it to a bed or a chair. He may even give you a collar like he did to Catwoman in Arkham Knight. That way it shows ownership and fuels his ego.

Of course, he'll show you physical affection like holding you or kissing you. After all you're his now. Once he has you he feels he can do whatever now.

He tells you frequently that he loves you and expects you to say the same.

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?

Most likely. Riddler can seem rather forceful at times.

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

A lot more than you think. Riddler tries to play it off like you mean less than you actually do. That often fails though as he can't resist the sudden urge to cling to you, trauma dumping all the way.

He pours his heart out to you at times to the point it's uncomfortable. Uncomfortable because he's kidnapped you and you are unable to leave while your captor is rambling in your lap. Then he tries to brush it off like it didn't happen.

You take up most of his heart.

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?

Genuinely offended. He has such an ego he can't believe you'd decline his love. It irritates him to the point he threatens you with something to keep you in line.

If that doesn't work he'll just use more restraints.

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

He'd put you through puzzles and riddles with the empty promise of escape. He's lying but it's fun to see how desperate you are. If this is how you were trying to escape, it's a wonderful game!

Other than that he doesn't like the idea of you leaving him.

He doesn't want to be abandoned.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

Probably his constant emotional breakdowns. The moment you get one where he's aggressive it scares you.

The whole being kidnapped thing is bad, but seeing him so unstable and not being able to leave frightens you.

He'll refrain from harming you, but deep down you fear him even more when he starts wrecking robots over something involving you.

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

Hard to tell. Riddler probably just wants someone who won't leave him and can give him genuine care. He's trying to get that from you, yet he's so unstable it becomes difficult.

He just wants someone to appreciate him for what he is and love him endlessly.

Something he probably will not get with you at this point.

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

Yes, extremely. He gets very petty and probably even has tantrums or breakdowns because of it.

He'd lash out verbally and probably find a way to remove the person causing the issue. He can't cope just in general.

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?

Emotionally erratic, constantly swapping from being egotistical and arrogant to a needy manchild.

Can't blame him too much, have you seen his backstory?

He'd be overly affectionate at times then pick you apart mentally. He'll hold you and never let go, desperately trying to kiss you somewhere in order to get your attention.

Then the next moment he's criticizing your feelings about the "relationship".

He's... really hard to figure out.

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

At first he finds ways to stalk you from afar. CCTV seems to help him. He'd observe you and test you with little riddles and tests before deciding on what he wants to do.

He takes his time watching you before finding a way to kidnap you. He doesn't dare meet you in person. Not until he knows he has you, at least!

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?

Yeah, around you he's much more vulnerable.

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

Isolation and degrading acts. He'll verbally pick apart your insecurities and leave you alone in a room for hours if he's upset at you.

It's not violent, but it's enough to hurt your mental state.

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?

Most if not all.

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

At times he can be patient, most of the time he is not.

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

Debatable. If you died he may not recover for years.

If you escaped he'll hunt you down in Gotham. Surely he'll find you eventually... surely....

Please come back....

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

No and most likely not.

Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?

Childhood trauma seems the most likely.

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?

He'd be unsure on how to approach it at first. He isn't the best with comfort or emotions so he comes off as awkward.

He'd be more likely to sit and watch while waiting for it to subside. Yet he may also awkwardly try to comfort you.

He's bad at it.

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?

He's extremely unstable and tends to be erratic with his obsession.

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?

Showing genuine care. He has trust issues so you'll have to keep it up a bit, but soon he'll fall for it.

Then you can use his acceptance of you to your advantage.

Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?

Maybe during a breakdown. It's mostly all emotional pain.

Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?

While he likes to be worshipped, he would worship his darling. He goes to great lengths to have you and wants to bring you anything to show you he loves and worships you.

Freedom is off limits.

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

Not long. He'll put you through little tests before kidnapping you, but obsession is close to first sight.

Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?

Yes, but he doesn't really intend it.

Attachment: How do they become obsessed?

He loved how you were so similar to him, personality-wise before he actually became the riddler. Ed also loved how you were oblivious to his true personality and any troubles he encountered, which meant that he loved how you were always by his side no matter what.

Blood: How messy are they willing to get for their darling?

Oh, he’s willing to get bloody rather quickly after becoming the riddler. He didn’t care who he killed, just as long as you didn’t see anything of course.

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling when they kidnap them? Would they mock them?

Ed would try his best to treat you well, no matter how out of his mind he may get. There may be times though where he does mock you though and it would be terrifying for you.

Delusion: How delusional are they when it comes to their darling? Do they believe their darling loves them?

A part of him believes that his darling does love him back just as much as he loves you, which is more dominate than the other part. The other part knows you don’t truly love him and that if you so happen to, he knows it isn’t actual.

Erratic: How unpredictable are they? How quick are mood changes?

He can be rather unpredictable, just depending on the day/how his day has went. With that, his mood changes are rather quick and there are just some times he can’t control these mood changes and it would suck for you and/or anyone else around him.

Fight: How would they react if their darling fought back?

At first, he would find it somewhat amusing and think you were just messing with him and/or playing some sort of game with him. After he realized you’re not messing around, Ed would be quick to calm you down, either with restraints or him physically restraining you himself.

Guilt: What would it take for them to feel guilty about their actions? Or do they feel guilty from the start?

Whenever he sees you upset, that is when his guilt comes out/shows guilt for kidnapping you and hurting you. Any other time though, his guilt is thrown out the window and shows no guilt at all for what he has done.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worse experience with them?

Whenever you see him torture and/or kill anyone, whether it may be a stranger, someone you may know, or just someone who looked at you in the wrong way. So, there’s that.

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

He wants to live somewhere luxurious with you by his side. That’s it.

Jealous: What makes them the most jealous?

Just you not paying attention to him and/or ignoring him.

Kidnap: How would they go about kidnapping their darling? How much do they plan out?

Ed has everything planned out for your abduction. Every little detail. As for actually kidnapping you, he wants to knock you unconscious quick, easy, and painless for you.

Love Letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

He would go about it a very classic and simple way. You two would start as friends and would slowly get into the relationship. With every detail being planned out for you two to start dating, his way.

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way he acted before?

Yes. He wants you to believe that he is the perfect man for you. No flaws with him.

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

There would be times where it just would be isolation and there would be times where he would be hurting you mentally. Just depends on him mood.

Outrage: What makes them furious?

Whenever you try to leave him or his plans go wrong/not how they were suppose to go for him. Those are his top two things that make him furious.

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

Again, it’s all about his mood. There would be days where his patience is there and there would be day where his patience is tossed out the window. It’s all up to you and how you treat him as well as how he is just feeling in general.

Quit: If their darling die, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

Of course he would be upset if you died or escaped, but for him it can be solved by just a few things. If you died, he could just resurrect you. If you escaped though, which is impossible pretty much because Ed is always two steps ahead of you, he will just bring you back within five minutes, maybe even less. He likes setting records to see how quick he can bring you back.

Rage: How do they act when angry? How do they calm down?

His anger is rather scary and can get out of hand at times. When you’re there though or he can hear your voice in the back of his head, his anger almost dies down in seconds.

Self-Indulgent: How possessive are they? (If at all?)

Ed is possessive, 1,000%. So, he’s pretty high up on that scale.

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling, scream, cry and/or isolate themselves?

It would be like something snapped in him. He tries his best to soothe you and calm you down in any way he can think of.

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?

Not really.

Vicious: How vicious can they get?

Ed can get pretty vicious, just not around you. Just around pretty much everyone else, so there’s that for you.

Weakness: What weaknesses can their darling exploit in order to escape?

Showing him the same amount of love that he shows you. That will make him break in seconds.

Xenodochia: How quickly would their darling cut them off after escape?

Rather quickly because he is the Riddler after all. That in itself can give him a bad wrap. Even though Ed is completely different around you, you hear things rather quickly about him and that in itself can be easy for you to cut him off quickly.

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

He could only take it for so long. So, it would be a month or less.

Zero Tolerance: What is the thing that always makes them snap? What things will they now allow their darling to do under any circumstances?

Whenever his enemies or even friends bring you up (mostly in a negative way, but besides the point). He hates hearing your name come out of anyone’s mouth but his. He will not allow you to leave his place at all. No matter how much begging you may do. Ed will not allow it.

Yandere BTAS Riddler with Bodyguard S/O

× It's quite possible for this to happen, but it isn't pretty. You can guess that since you are his most prized bodyguard, you can bet he doesn't like it when you enter a conversation with another, seeing as you are on the job and certainly not because he's jealous you don't act this way around him.

× Can be seen as quite pushy, and is quick to make you pay attention. May trip on purpose, or try to engage into a brawl, or even both in some cases, ensuring that you instantly focus on protecting him. It also doesn't help that he finds it quite hot, and may do this randomly for his own pleasure.

× But after the poor work conditions he went through, he is sure to pay fair, and certainly to talk to you nicely. Not to your other co-workers though, no, just you. They can go fight batman, but he wouldn't make you, you can just run away from the battle with him. He is also sure to give pay benefits on the random, and sweet words just for your ears only in fear that you may quit the job on the random.

"Let them fight, I *do* still need my personal bodyguard you know!"

× Is one of the most likely out of all the villains to trust you with their secret identity, and will most definitely tell you to "protect" him and his secret identity by having you still on the job and with him out of costume, even when it could be dangerous if someone notices the similarities between the relationship between the Riddler, his bodyguard, and the two of you. He doesn't care all too much about that, and uses this as a way to go on unofficial dates with you, as well as spend time with his favorite person in the entire world!

× His relentless flirting and romantic riddles are claimed to be given to everyone of his employees, but when asked, co-workers of yours will laugh at the very idea of the boss doing that to an employee. But instead are more likely than not paid by him to keep their mouth shut about the truth if asked from you.

× Riddler feels great shame and fear when you are forced to fight the batman directly, wishing that he had dragged you away quick enough to save you from the beating you are bound to receive. But if you somehow managed to knock the Batman out, or somehow kill the masked vigilante, Riddler will treat you to the biggest celebration of your life, and is sure to give you (most) of the credit you deserve. And is sure to show you off, telling other villains how lucky he is to have such a good bodyguard.

"Here they are, in all of their glory! Aren't they as cute as a button? Very strong too, you wouldn't believe how easily they took down Batman! Just absolutely perfect, wouldn't you agree?~"

Stops what he is doing instantly. He is so happy that you are accepting him and your love. He will hug you and drag you to the bed. He will have you laying on his chest while you watch your favorite show/movie together. He will stroke your hair and tell you how much he loves you. He is filled with joy seeing you relax in his arms.

His ego busts instantly. He will smirk and chuckle a bit. His love is begging him to cuddle them. He loves the feeling that you need him. He will walk up and hug you lifting your feet onto his walking to the bed and falling back first so you are laying on top of him. You snuggle into him. "Comfortable darling?" He will become so clingy after this.

She is shocked for a second needing a second before she runs up to hug you. "Oh of course love!" She kisses you and you lay down on her couch. She will smother you in affection. She loves you so much to have you want to be so close to her makes her melt inside. Will kiss you constantly and repeat how much she loves you.

He smiles so wide. He is so so happy you are wanting attention from him. He is happy to give you whatever you want. He is cuddling you instantly stroking your back and calling you his amazing darling. He will tell you how much he loves you and how glad he is to have you in his arms. He will not let you go for hours.

Intimate stare with a smile on his face. "oh darling I would love to!" He will be giggling as he carries you to the bed. He will have you lay ethier on his chest or right by him with his arm wrapped around you. Puts on Alice in the wonderland and strokes you side. "ah I love you so much darling, more than you can ever know." You both will end up falling asleep.

A - Attachment: How do they become obsessed?

There's just a certain charm about you that draws Edward toward you. He believes that in a city of idiots and fools, you are the only one that can match up to him. His soulmate!

He knows that it is your clever mind that will lead you to realize that you and he belong together.

G - Good: Do they reward their darling for good behavior?

Edward is very big on praise - maybe not toward anyone else, but for you, Edward believes in only positive reinforcement. If you act out or try to attack him, he'll have you momentarily restrained until you calm yourself, cooing to you condescendingly as he holds your face in his hands. He's nothing but smiles as he assures you he understands, you're confused, scared, believed the lies everyone had told you about him. In time, he'll show you your worries were unfounded.

When you're being 'good', Ed is overjoyed! He'll smother you with kissed and hugs and praise you endlessly. You were so smart, finally realizing that this was where you belonged. With him. Forever.

S - Self-Indulgent: How possessive are they? (If at all?)

If at all possible, Edward would gladly just. Keep you locked up in on of his many hideouts forever. He doesn't like people looking at you, talking to you, touching you...! They didn't deserve to even breathe the same air as you, let alone gaze upon your gorgeousity! He didn't even like the thought of any of his hired help being near you. The thought of someone, anyone, trying to taint you with their lies... It made him so furious, he'd tremble with rage as he held you in his arms, safe from the outside world.

Scarecrow

A - Attachment: How do they become obsessed?

I could see Jonathan becoming fixated upon a favored pupil of his, or perhaps a victim or hostage whose fear he found particularly... Alluring. He'll only become more enthralled by you the more he looks into you. He doesn't want to hurt you, no... But, scare you? Oh, how could Jonathan be expected to control himself it comes to you. He's almost addicted to using his fear toxin on you. He loves looking at the frightened expression on you, and the way you cuddle up against him for comfort, disoriented even as the toxin dissipates from your system.

G - Good: Do they reward their darling for good behavior?

Crane loves to compliment you, tell you everything he finds perfect about you. He'll also be especially physically affectionate, lots of hugs and lifting his mask to pepper kisses against your face. He'll also, almost teasingly, run his needle-tipped gloved fingers across your skin. He doesn't mean to actually break the skin, but accidents do happen... He'll hold you as you begin to tremble with fear, cooing praises as you fall apart in his hold.

S - Self-Indulgent: How possessive are they? (If at all?)

Jonathan is fine with his henchmen being around you, if need be. Usually, he'll allow short conversations or them fetching something for you. He's also usually fine with a few of his friends coming around, if he trusts them. For instance, Jervis is always welcome and Jonathan enjoys listening in on your conversations or even joining the two of you.

Anyone such as the authorities or Batman, however, will completely enrage him. The thought of you being stolen from him is too terrifying a thought even for the Master of Fear himself.

●Now.. attempts for escape or trying to contact the outside world. Desperately hoping maybe.. just maybe you can reach batman.. the authorities. Anyone. Anyone who can come and get you. Trying to claw your way out of the predicament you're in.. that's when he loses his cool.

●Shouting, sneering, throwing things, threats of hurting loved ones, degrading insults hurled your way. How dare you be so ungrateful! He provides you home and shelter, hell-! he allows you to be near him, and this is how you repay him?

●He'll take away whatever little freedom you have, lock you in a puzzle room for isolation. Not talking to you on the speakers. No solution out. He'll be too busy fuming for the next few hours.

Hello there!! I'm not sure if you write for the riddler (and it's totally okay if you don't want to!) But I follow this guy on TikTok who shows these little puzzle boxes and such (@/ HenryPuzzles) if you wanna check it out for reference. I was watching one of his videos and it gave me the cutest idea! Yandad! Riddler making his little kid puzzle boxes, sitting there playing with them and encouraging them along the way. In a lot of the Batman series, especially Batman 2004 the animated series he's not a villain he's just broken :/ seeing him just heal his inner child while bonding with his own kid.

I really love this idea! Thank you so much for sharing it, anon!🥰

I’ve always loved the thought of yan!Edward with a darling (whether platonic or romantic) who genuinely took an interest in his riddles and puzzles. Just someone who took interest and enjoyment in his thoughts and contently listened to him go on and on about this and that. Not being disregarded and ignored or just flat out told to shut up would really mean something to Edward.

He would definitely latch himself to his kid, wanting to be a good father, a better father than what he had. He would go out of his way to create the most perfect puzzle boxes for his kiddo. He’s already naturally obsessive so when it comes to making or coming up with new riddles and interactive puzzles for his kid they have to be absolutely perfect and up to his standards before he even thinks about them being ready for his bby.

When he isn’t planning and going about his death traps for the unfortunate souls he’s targeted this time, Edward would be putting all his time and effort into his kiddos’ puzzles. He may even take breaks from his own criminal activities to put forth more focus and work into making something much worthwhile for his child, something they won’t finish in mere minutes. Speaking of which, Edward will try harder and harder to come up with more difficult puzzles for his kid all to help them get even better than before.

Also, Edward would be so excruciatingly proud and over the moon if his kiddo were to try and make him a puzzle box themself or to try and come up with a riddle that will stump him. He absolutely loves the fact that his child would do something like that for him. Even if the puzzle or riddle were easier than easy, Edward would still absolutely adore that his child went out of their way for him like that. He’d definitely teach them how to make similar puzzle boxes to the ones he makes for them so that they can gift him with something a little more next time.

I can’t help but imagine Edward’s kiddo making a crudely put together puzzle box that reveals a riddle after you solve it, putting together both of the things that Edward enjoys most. And you can bet you’re sweet summer bacon that he keeps his kid’s first puzzle box that they ever made him. He holds it very close and reuses it very often, it would be his form of a fidget spinner using it especially when he felt distressed or anxious. Even when he wasn’t he would still fondly use his bby’s crudely made puzzle box. Imagine his absolute horror if he accidentally broke the puzzle box? Or his utter wrath if someone else were to have broken it? I wouldn’t doubt that in some way, shape, or form, Edward would have his kiddo’s puzzle box with him in Arkham Asylum both for comfort and something to remind him of his bby while he’s away from them. God forbid anyone tries to take it away from him or use it against him.

also sorry these are so jumbled 😭 if you want something more cohesive i'd be down to do headcanons or something

he reads so heavily into everything you do. eddie is convinced that every action, every word you say, is an encrypted message that he must decode.

his relationship with you would be a very parasocial one i think. in eddie's mind, you know just as much about him as he knows about you. anything you say or post online is meant for him and him alone.

packages with no return addresses end up at your door, filled with enigmatic riddles and puzzles that leave you with more questions than answers, but they all have the same motif: love.

you leave many of his puzzles scattered about your place, allowing him access to your private life through the hidden cameras in them. he keeps notebooks containing all of your information, from what foods you like down to the smallest little mannerisms.

when he finally kidnaps you, he keeps you in his underground bunker and fits you with a shock collar (engraved with his title, of course) that sends agonizing shots of electricity through your body at the push of a button.

deep down, eddie is desperate for your praise. he shows off each and every riddle and contraption, explaining all the little intricacies ad nauseam in order to impress you. when you seem disinterested, or you even have the gall to criticize his creation, he'll fly into a rage, insulting your intelligence. later on, you'll find the contraption somewhere on the floor, broken beyond repair.

(also now that i think about it, depending on which arkham game we're talking abt he'd behave a lot differently...)

origins eddie would be a lot more subdued. there's still that obsession, that desire to test you and study every aspect of you, but i don't think he'd kidnap you.

it's a long time before he makes his presence known to you, appearing on your phone screen as a bespectacled, obscured figure. he introduces himself as enigma, his plan to release all of the blackmail on gotham's most corrupt people, and how long he's been watching you for, thinking that it'll win you over.

when it obviously doesn't, eddie's confused, disappointed, enraged. he can't wrap his mind around why someone as smart as you doesn't understand how perfect of a duo the two of you would be. he knows you're smarter than this, why don't you understand? why don't you love him?

How would Edward write a love note?

(Inspired by this dumb post I made)

My dearest, (insert name),

Over the past several weeks my mind and heart have been overflowing with feelings I can't even begin to describe with words. Fate has brought us to the same dead end office job; as well as bringing us to neighboring cubicles. I've spent centuries in this hellscape, quietly observing the world around me. I've become accustomed to reading people; and I conclusively draw that everyone who sets foot in this office are nothing more than annoyances. So many individuals come and go, and I can't ever recall missing anyone. You've disrupted my way of living.

Ever since you started showing your face around here, I'm inconclusive. I've tried reading you, but every time I try it leaves me with more questions than answers. I'm afraid you're a mystery I cannot solve, and it keeps me awake at night. Your inconsequential kindness, your gentle, radiating smile burning through my skin, into my core, and the simple knowledge of your presence is driving me to madness. I want to figure you out. Figure out why you're like this. Why do you of all people make me so weak? But simultaneously, this insanity might be the closest feeling to heavenliness I'll ever see.

You don't know me all too well, but we are one in the same. I see how none of the scum at work acknowledge you. They take advantage of your kindness, then return to pretending you don't exist. They treat you like you're stupid, but they're all idiots themselves. I know you're not stupid, because you're smart enough to never sink to their level. You are above them. You behave angelically despite how horribly they all disrespect you. They don't deserve you.

I see you. I notice how hard you try, and I admire everything I've ever seen of you. Your a shining light in this dark world. An angel with a blinding presence. You're my songbird, as your voice sounds like music to my ears every time you speak. I swear I will protect you until the day I die. You are my sun, and I would love nothing more than to stare at you until you're the only thing I can see.
