Louie: people are always calling me "the evil triplet"
Louie: and it's funny because I'M NOT THE ONE WHO THINKS MURDER IS THE SOLUTION FOR STOPPING BAD PEOPLE
Huey: Hey! Don't phrase it like I’m killing people left and right!
Huey: there's a logic behind it
Huey: I'll first try talking them out of doing the bad thing
Huey: if they're too stupid to listen then I'll try to incapacitate them
Huey: if they're too strong for that then I'll have to maime them
Huey: and if they can still do the bad thing 'cause they have magic or some shit like that then sadly I'll have to kill them
Louie: SEE
Webby *someone who's too strong to be incapacitated* : *sweats*
Lena *someone who can use magic* : *sweats*
Webby: so we're not going to prank him-
Lena: we're most definitely not going to prank him

Ngl, if Tiana doesn't wield a firearm in some way in her new series, I'm gonna be so disappointed. Firearms were already very legal and commonly used in the States by the mid-late 1920s (which is when TPATF mostly takes place), so I'd like to see her sport it at least once. She'd be the first Disney Princess to canonically wield a gun/firearm. They seriously need to make that happen. Also, why doesn't fanart of her wielding a firearm exist????
#tiana#disney#the tiana series#i hc tiana as a pro-gun person like honestly. she would only use it when she REALLY needs it to tho. that'd be her whole thing#you can't tell me she doesn't have a firearm hidden in the kitchen in case someone breaks in. i see tiana as THAT type#she wouldn't really shoot but at least intimidate the intruder#i mean she used louie to f*cking scare the racist businessmen into giving her the damn key to the territory#don't think for one second she wouldn't wield a firearm to scare someone away#“why are you hc'ing tiana as pro-gun” my brother in christ this was the united states in the '20s#the us has always been known for its VERY pro-gun stance#also given the era she grew up in (jim crow) that woulda been very useful anyways#tiana is badass like that#crazy to think she is the only princess who possibly lived till the 21st century#she was born in 1907 as she was 19 in 1926. that sh*t is incredible tbh#disney will never ever show that but man it makes you think like damn she really saw ALL of the social change#i know she isn't real#i get that part but i'm sorry dp's are the most important characters to me so it blows my mind that she possibly lived till the 21st centur#it's crazy but cool#“you are glorifying gun violence. that's horrible” no sister i'm just talking about how cool and badass it'd be for a disneh princess to#wield a gun. they've wielded swords and bows before (mulan ariel [in the sequel for a brief moment] rapunzel probably MERIDA moana quite#possibly RAYA) so why is a gun any different? also that's a whole another vibe tbh#naveen is the one that would be like “WAIT WAIT WHY ARE YOU HOLDING THAT THING???” dude is probably a gun HATER#i can tell it. “i don't understand you americans's obsession with guns!!!! seriously!” and tiana is like oh poor bby lmaooo#jasmine did too in the series!! these b*tches are no stranger to WEAPONS lmao

I will honestly never forget how well thought-out and carefully constructed Della’s appearance in DT17 was as not only a nod to her most sentimental appearance in the comics but also a direct tie into Scrooge’s adventuring mentality and the ultimate consequence of where it could lead to, but because (in fandom) the worse possible thing you could ever be is an imperfect mother, she gets written off as an unnecessary inclusion, a bad character, a glorification of neglectful parents, etc.
#Ducktales#DT17#see also: she disciplined Louie 'too harshly' once so she's an irredeemable monster#It's honestly painful to see that shit because she's - in my honest opinion - the best thing about the show#AT LEAST HATE HER FOR BETTER REASONS#THAT TELL ME YOU'RE CABABLE OF PROPERLY ANALYZING A SHOW YOU CLAIM TO HAVE AN EDUCATED OPINION ON#Like idk if you find her annoying or too blunt or hate her design or WHATEVER#but if I have to hear 'Della is an awful unnecessary character because Donald exists and she abandoned her kids'#or god forbid any reference to Timephoon!#Your argument ceases to hold water#Plus you miss out on so much about the show if you reduce her character in that way!#like Holy Fuck!! the rawness of the show letting you see clear evidence that this woman was raised to believe she was indestructible#the fact that she genuinely (GENUINELY) thought she wouldn't be gone for long enough for it to matter#or that her disappearance wouldn't affect Scrooge and Donald the way it did#(THE WAY HER TRANSMISSIONS WERE MEANT TO GO TO A FAMILY THAT WAS STILL TOGETHER#AND THAT HER KIDS WOULD GROW UP AT LEAST SEEING AND HEARING HER)#Because Scrooge RAISED her and she honest-to-god took everything he taught her to heart and that DIRECTLY LEAD TO THIS AAAAA#Not to mention the depth she adds to Scrooge's character!!#Like why would you want to ignore all that for the sake of being reductive??#AND HER LULLABY TIES IT ALL TOGETHER#about how she intended on raising kids who would be curious and brave and excited to experience anything and everything life had to offer#The way she had been when she wrote it#just. On Tim's Boat
*Tim and Bernard are laying in bed sleeping, limbs entangled as Bernard sleeps on Tim's chest*
*at 3:47am Bernard is awoken*
Bernard, swatting Tim as he is squinting in the dark: Hey grasshopper? Is that a sleep paralysis demon-
Tim, shifting slightly, eyes still shut, basically sleepy mumbling: you wouldn't be hitting me, you'd be paralyzed
Bernard: then I think someone is stealing clothes from our closet
Tim, running his hand through Bernard's hair so Bernard knows he is listening: don't know why, we are the pits of fashion, they should be stealing from Sophie and Louie's closet, or even Tammy and Lauren's closet
Bernard: is that... Robin?
Tim, wide awake now, swiveling his head towards the closet: WHAT?
Damian, standing there in a Robin outfit looking through their clothes in the closet, gathering a pile on his arm: Your father wants you to call him, Drake
Bernard: Robin works for Bruce? Actually, that's not surprising.
Robin, walking out with a pile of clothes on his arm: I am confiscating these *walks out the door*
Bernard:
Tim:
Bernard:
Tim:
Bernard: Guess you could say he was... Robin us.
Tim: You're lucky I love you

Oooooohhhh are we talking about Bradford telling Della about the Spear of Selene? I think we're talking about Bradford telling Della about the Spear of Selene!
Okay okay this is something I have Ideas™️about- specifically why he told her, and why she believed him.
The answer (as I have so humbly decided is obviously the abject truth) is the same for both: Because he'd been manipulating her for years.
He was trying to be the Emperor Palpatine to her Anakin Skywalker.
Why? Simple: The Papyrus of Truth.
Think about it- it doesn't make sense to immediately go 'oh, only Scrooge McDuck's heir can find the Papyrus? Welp, time to steal some of his DNA and make a kid!' That's supervillain territory, and Bradford isn't a supervillain! (He's just a bit of a scumbag, but that's not a supervillain so it's obviously fine.)
So picture this: he finds out about the wish Scrooge made on the Papyrus, that only his heir could find it, and his thought patterns line up with Scrooge's:
He thinks "Alright, then it has to be one of those rugrats."
The question is, which one? Della, or Donald?
And honestly, when they're both kids- it's not really that much of a question, is it?
Is it Donald, the angry coward who loves to hole up in his room and write songs about eating the rich and basically doing everything that Scrooge hates?
Or is it Della, the adventurous and energetic ball of high-octane excitement and adrenaline, unable to sit still for a single moment, who acts like Scrooge McDuck, who likes all the same things as Scrooge McDuck, who is pretty much every single thing that Bradford Buzzard hates about Scrooge McDuck, all rolled up into a bratty child?
(Nevermind the fact that she isn't actually like that, not entirely. Nevermind the fact that she's doing all that because she feels she has to be useful, to be likeable, and that means mirroring Scrooge McDuck because if he likes himself so much then he must like seeing himself in her.)
Obviously it's Della. It has to be.
Which means, in order for him to get the Papyrus, he needed to get his claws into Della.
Which shouldn't have been hard- you can't tell me that Scrooge wouldn't do the same thing with Donald and Della that he did with Louie. He'd take them to the Money Bin (after all, it's like a second home for him), then head into his office and tell them not to disturb him.
And that'd leave Della in the perfect position for Bradford to begin to wheedle his ways past her defenses.
(Of course, multiple problems arise, not the least of which is she's a child and Bradford undoubtedly hates children. But moreso it's that she's genre-savvy, and also (and we love her for it, but) kind of dumb. It's a very frustrating mix that leads to her very nearly calling him out on what he's doing a lot.
But also, despite all that- she's still a kid.
And despite how much she thinks she knows, he's still better.)
It'd take a while, and I don't think he ever really manages it, but he still gets her to trust him.
Eventually, of course, he learns that Della isn't the 'heir of Scrooge McDuck.'
(Not sure how this happens, but it obviously does- I'm sure that lots of the Adventure Trio's adventures in the earlier days were spent searching for that missing Papyrus, but for some reason they stopped. The whole thing threatened to tear Donald and Della apart, or something.)
And that makes all the work he spent on her useless. All the time spent manipulating her, and trying (and -mostly- failing) to get her to be something he wanted, to push her to break up her family, all for naught.
Or- maybe not.
Because Scrooge keeps a secret. He makes her a spaceship. An untested, unreliable, terrible spaceship that literally runs on money.
It's horrible.
It's a waste.
It's perfect.
All the work doesn't have to be for naught. All Bradford has to do is let Della come to him one day, when she's at the Money Bin (probably because she and Donald and Scrooge were going shopping for baby toys, and she kept trying to get these really dangerous and deadly-looking ones, and ultimately got sent to the Money Bin as a bit of a 'time out'), let her rant and burn herself out to him about how frustrating Donald and Scrooge are being, how unfair they are (how scared she is, how much she just wishes they'd let her actually handle some stuff, how bad they make her feel for still wanting to adventure at a time like this, how much it feels like all either of them care about anymore are the kids and not her), how much it blows to be stuck like this.
And all Bradford has to do is offer up some half-hearted consolement, assure her that (while Donald is definitely being too overprotective) that of course Scrooge still cares about her, is still thinking about her, is still thinking about her, after all he's making her the-
And then cut himself off, like he said too much. That's aaaaallll that's needed to peak Della's interest, after all. And as soon as that's peaked- it's over.
All he has to do is hem and haw back and forth, say 'oh but he made me promise never to say anything' and 'I could get in trouble' and so on and so forth. Make it seem like he didn't want to say anything. Make Della feel like she earned the information, that he didn't plan this from the start.
And when she finally gets the information about the Spear out of him, and her eyes light up like stars and she darts off to go see if he was telling the truth, he can be confident that she'll never remember that he was the one who told her about it. All she'd be able to think about is 'I figured it out.' Because she had, after all. She'd figured it out, all her, he definitely hadn't pointed her in that direction at all.
He got to get rid of a liability and break the family, all in one fell swoop.

hiii! can u write yan capitano, or yan pierro, or yan pantalone with a darling that is very private and mysterious? in a sense that there is no information about darling or anything abour darling. thank you! ❤
untold past | yandere! pantalone x reader
content warning: brief mention of animal death and stalking??? idk what to call it but pantalone does background checks on reader!!
Tumblr media
your routine is simple and remains the same.
you do nothing out of the ordinary and you're always content no matter what. you keep to yourself and don't go out much.
you have a pet cat and you moved to snezhnaya six months ago but where you're from originally is unknown. you live with a roommate, an older woman, and work with the adventure guild.
that's everything pantalone knows about you. that's all he can know about you. he has done multiple background checks on you but surface-level information seems to be the only thing he can get from it.
and it's starting to become a problem.
it started five months ago, a month after you came to snezhnaya. there you were, at a park, feeding cats, whilst gently cooing at them, what you were doing was sweet but he paid no true interest and went on his way.
a week later, he walked past the park once again and there you were, feeding the cats once again this time he called out to you, "excuse me?" you paused and turned to face him, your face flushed from the cold weather.
"yes?"
"could those cats be yours? if so, why haven't i seen you around before?"
"I like to pretend they are." you laughed, ignoring his last question and your laughter was sweet so he smiled.
"hm, take good care of those cats. some kids have been coming around and bothering them." then he walked away, not waiting for a reply.
the next week, he passed by once again, this time, he had you in mind when he passes, wondering if you'd be there and you were, with one less cat.
"hi," you waved at him and he paused in his steps, a small smile growing on his lips, as he motioned to the group of cats in front of you, "hello... there's a missing cat, did something happen?"
"I think he ran away... I'm not sure," you smiled, but it seemed doubtful and perhaps hesitant.
"what a shame."
"yeah, I'll probably go looking for him tomorrow," you pursed your lips as you ran your hand across the back of one of the cats.
tomorrow, huh?
"well, I wish you the best of luck... i never got your name."
"it's (y/n)."
"well, I wish you the best of luck, (y/n)."
(y/n)... pantalone smiled as he walked away.
later that night, when pantalone was alone with his thoughts, he thought about you.
you like cats, that's nice.
you seem kind.
you wear thick coats, the expensive kind.
along with the expensive kind of hats.
you must always be so warm.
a pen slowly rolled from his desk and dropped to the floor, causing pantalone to stop thinking of you and continue his work.
... should I help (y/n) tomorrow?
...
the next morning was cold and seemed still.
most people were still sleeping at this time, but not you, because you need to find a cat.
you shivered from underneath your coat as you walked through the park. this was out of the norm for you, you usually wouldn't wake up so early or come to the park two times in the same week.
this ruined your routine, but hopefully, it would all be worth it at the end. "where are you, louie?" louie was the cat's name you decided to give him.
near the front of the park, pantalone stood, hands pocketed and eyes weary. he stayed up last night, he thought about you and if he could come to help you.
this foreign feeling inside of his chest was starting to bother him, more and more. he decided to drop by the park and was going to make it seem like a coincidence, speak with you then leave.
and perhaps never speak to you again.
"where are you, louie?" you called out again, peaking behind trash bins, into hollowed trees and bushes.
"louie?"
you paused and turned to see the man who would occasionally walk past the park while you were here, "louie is the cat's name. if you saw him, you'd understand his name," you smiled.
"well, how does this louie look?" pantalone asked and you rubbed your chin before saying, "he's orange and kinda chunky and has a few dark brown spots on his back."
"oh, he sounds adorable, " but not as adorable as you, "ill keep a watchful eye out for him," pantalone smiled when he noticed your eyes light up, "thank you. he's a good cat, i wouldn't want him to get into trouble. "
...
trouble, huh?
pantalone passes the park every day, wondering when you'd be there, wondering if you'd go there for any reason other than to feed the cats which you only do on saturdays.
it was getting dark out as he passed by, but in the corner of his eye, he saw a cat. he paused, before glancing over to it and if he was correct, it was louie.
but louie didn't seem to have any life left in him. "... what a shame," he really wanted to bring louie back to you, alive. he wanted a reason to approach you, in a positive way, he didn't want to tell you louie was dead.
pantalone sighed, before continuing his walk home.
...
"did you ever see louie?" you asked, a wool scarf muffling your words as you spoke. pantalone hesitantly nodded.
it didn't take much to figure out louie was dead, considering he was nowhere to be seen. "he's dead?" you asked for confirmation and pantalone nodded once again.
"did he die naturally?"
"no. what happened to him was far from natural."
you pursed your lips, your gaze lowering, "that's a shame. he was a good cat, very cuddly. "
then you lifted your gaze to pantalone and said, "I never got your name, what is it?"
"pantalone."
...
it seemed to pantalone that you were the only thing he thought of. amid work, he thought of you and in the dead of night, he thought of you.
but who are you?
he knows barely knows anything of you. all he knows is your name and that you like cats... perhaps he should look into you a little.
just a little.
...
your routine is simple and remains the same.
you do nothing out of the ordinary and you're always content no matter what. you keep to yourself and don't go out much.
you have a pet cat and you moved to snezhnaya six months ago but where you're from originally is unknown. you live with a roommate, an older woman, and work with the adventure guild.
that's everything pantalone knows about you. that's all he can know about you. he has done multiple background checks on you but surface-level information seems to be the only thing he can get from it.
and it's starting to become a problem.

Hi there darling . I have some questions about loustat moment in Memnoch & TVA .
Is there any quotes in these two books where Louis went to see Lestat or visit him ? Or for example do we know why Louis and Lestat's relationship disappeared in the most half of the Memnoch ? Why they weren't together anymore ? Or what happened in Rio between David & Lestat & Louie ? Why don't we have Louis visit Lestat after his short waking up in TVA ? why don't we have Louis in TVA with Lestat ? Or vise versa? 😢
Hey dear!
You mean what happened in the jungles? That made them part? And then made Lestat wander?
In short: no.
But I disagree their relationship disappeared, or that they weren't together anymore, as you put it.
Let me expand on that :) In Memnoch there is this very short sentence that tells us that it was Lestat who left:
"Perhaps I hadn't experienced it since I had left him, with Louis. We had been in some nameless jungle place, the three of us, when we agreed to part, and that had been a year ago."
Supposedly he went back to Rio to hunt, and there had his first run in with the "stranger", Memnoch.
Later Lestat remarks that
"Louis took to wandering more and more often, and he had been seen once by David in the company of Armand in Paris."
But he also remarks that Louis had been there, at Rue Royale:
"His rooms were in order; new books had been added. There was a vivid and arresting new painting by Matisse."
And, Louis is there when Lestat is "back" - he tries to make Lestat come home, to their flat:
"Come home with me," he said. Such a human voice. So kind. "There's time to come here and reflect. Wouldn't you rather be home, in the Quarter, amongst our things?" If anything in the world could have truly comforted me, he would have been the thing—with just the beguiling tilt of his narrow head or the way that he kept looking at me, protecting me obviously with a confidential calm from what he must have feared for me, and for him, and perhaps for all of us.
And... it is not correct that Louis isn't with Lestat during his coma. In TVA David tells us of Louis,
"wandering from dusty corner to dusty corner, and then back to his flat in the Rue Royale when he's convinced himself once more and for the thousandth time that no one can harm Lestat."
And Armand later remarks that Louis
"had neglected his own hunger to be here on guard."
So Louis is there during Memnoch, he regularly comes by "their home", and calls it that, too. And he is with Lestat during his coma, as told of in TVA and Merrick.
I don't think they were not "together" anymore tbh... I think that is too simple for their relationship.
But it makes the recent Loustat scene from Anne's diary all the sharper in meaning, don't you think?
“I can’t live without you! “ he said. “I swear, you wander off on me again, I…”
Lestat... wanders off. As mentioned in TtotBT, Memnoch, PL. It happens when he feels too deeply, hates himself too much, tries to protect Louis, or cannot stand "cleaning up" anymore he wanders off, or lets himself be driven away. There is this little comment in PL, that that is what happened before Louis went to Trinity Gate to Armand:
So I let them drive me away out of the cities, and even from New Orleans, I let them drive me away. My beloved Louis de Pointe du Lac left soon after, and from that time on lived in New York with Armand. Armand keeps the island of Manhattan safe for them—Louis, Armand, and two young blood drinkers, Benjamin and Sybelle, and whoever else joins them in their palatial digs on the Upper East Side.
It is quite meaningful imho that Lestat puts these things together, especially since we know Armand manages to rouse him from his coma to "clean up" NOLA, and how he speaks of it later, how he hates executing others in his function as prince.
He needs Louis to be safe... but at that point he cannot stand to be the cause of death for others of their kind, qualms which Armand does not share.
So... there are a lot of hints.
There are a lot of hints as to why Lestat might have taken to wander away from Louis, too - he is well aware that his
"blood will make a monster of what's there.
And he cannot stand it, and Louis (kind of) resents him for that, too. They both have to come to terms with it.
It's difficult.
Theirs is a very difficult journey, but it is also a very rewarding one. And... as Jacob said so pointedly, it's a love story. :) Their love story.

DT17 Anniversary Posting
So I've heard around the cafeteria that there's a theme for today centered around people's favorite episodes. Well, I don't have [a] favorite episode. But I can narrow it down to 1 per season, so let's go with that.
(P.S. if you were tagged in this post it's because I gave you cool people a shoutout at the end.)
S1: The Last Crash of the Sunchaser!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I first watched this show, this episode was the one where I realized things were serious. This wasn't just a funny duck show. It's definitely still funny and a duck show, but it's so much more than that.
On Disney+, this episode comes right after Lena is possessed by Magica, so my mind was 100% on that heading in. Instead, we got the resolution to Dewey's arc and the mystery of Della Duck... or so we thought!
Sure, we found out Della's fate, but that was almost secondary to the family drama, especially between Dewey and Scrooge. It's very intense, and even when we get the answers we're looking for, the questions all change.
I don't need to explain why this episode is good. It just is. The fact that I picked this episode, and not a Lena-centric one, shows how good it is.
S2: A Nightmare on Killmotor Hill!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright fine. One Lena episode.
After Lena was brought back in "Friendship Hates Magic!", the question was, where do we go from here? I think they handled it very well, integrating her back into the kids' friend group while still letting the effects of Magica's abuse linger on.
I really enjoy the idea of characters' dreams showing their deepest fears and desires. The kind of stuff they would otherwise stash away when they're awake. This episode took that concept and sprinted with it.
I still think we ought to have had more sleepover episodes with all of the kiddos. When everybody is fighting for screen time in Season 3, this episode shows how you can balance several characters at once, even if Lena was the one getting the majority of the attention. The "Swanstantine" episode is another good example of this.
I mean, come on. We got Webby dressing herself up as Scrooge McDuck as soon as she realized she could do whatever she wanted. It was foreshadowed from the beginning!
S3: Astro B.O.Y.D.!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've talked about this one before. It's one of my favorite pieces of autism rep. Boyd's journey in this episode really resonated, as well as his relationship with Huey.
In my opinion, the best part about it is how Huey relates to Boyd. Specifically not because he's a robot, but how Huey sees him as just a kid, just like him. The robot part is more of a neat quirk than anything. He's wired differently, literally, but they deserve a chance to be themselves.
And I appreciate how "Astro-B.O.Y.D!" gives Boyd a purpose as a character. I thought the bit in the Doofus episode where the villains try to pull the same con as Louie was fun, but Boyd didn't feel like much of a character, or at least no more of one than Sharkbomb was.
So "Astro-B.O.Y.D!" takes a character that very well could have had a one-off bit role, and made him something special. Made him somebody that a viewer can relate to, just as Huey did in the episode. Even just for 22 minutes, Boyd felt special. I felt special. I felt seen.
So yeah, that's my three. The fact that I can sit here and ramble about a half-decade old show that ended before I found it, is really cool. I'm so glad to have the chance to hang out with everybody here, whether we're discussing the best show in the history of time or doing literally anything else.
Shoutout to the people rallying the troops for today's anniversary... @secret-tester @justaboot @alexcanine @boingodigitalart @yeyeducks @cookieruby @the-richest-duck ... and to everyone else who's participated not just today but any day. We wouldn't be a community without the fine folks in it.

Got another question that might result in another novel-long response:
I learned "the truth" about Torts from RSV recently. How would the RSV townies react to walking in on the Farmer casually having a full-on conversation with Torts? Like they're talking about some deep, profound shit and playing with the water in his pond all the while treating him as if he actually understands what they're saying. He does, of course, but they don't know that, lol.
(maybe include vanilla SDV, and SVE characters, if you so choose :3)
I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by this turn of events with Torts :D
Got a lot of residents, so hopefully you won't mind if it's exclusively Ridgeside Village characters here. I also decided not to add Ray and Belinda because (⚠️ spoilers!), they have a special event where they learn the truth about Torts, hee hee... Anyway, thanks again for the question! Enjoy 🫰💕
The people of Ridgeside Village react to the Farmer talking to Torts:
_________________________________________
This is no surprise to Keahi, Trinnie and Yuuma - the children themselves often talk to Torts when they are caring for or playing with him. And even if it's just ordinary chatting like "do you like these leaves, Torts?" or "how are you doing, Torts?" rather than philosophical conversations, most of the words of which the trio doesn't know yet, it's not strange for them. Even the opposite, the same Yuuma will thank Farmer for keeping the turtle company while he and the others were busy. Keahi and Trinnie will jump on the spot with joy, because yay, Torts has another friend!
"Yo, are you talking to a turtle? If you want, I can keep you company, hee hee!" Oh, here comes Blair. The curious girl couldn't pass up the opportunity to find out why Farmer was talking to Torts like that. Huh, that's a little silly. Especially since Farmer might enjoy talking philosophy with her, their future wife.... Okay, she's just kidding! Doesn't really pay much attention to Farmer's weirdness, except as an opportunity to tease them a bit.
The Amethyne family, accompanied by servants, happen to catch Farmer with Torts discussing about philosophical matters, and everyone's reaction is... different. Maive, for example, will be annoyed that the current youngsters are wasting their time, Louie will start muttering about how strange and idiot Farmer is, Irene and Zayne will be slightly concerned about Farmer's mental state. Sonny will remain unemotional, but deep down will be glad that the young farmer respects fauna (albeit a bit strange), and Ariah will find Farmer's conversation interesting and would like to discuss the complex topics of sociology, epistemology and ontology (it's a pity she is completely immersed in her studies tho).
The situation was so unusual that even Daia didn't tease Farmer, and only listened interestedly to what Farmer was telling the ordinary turtle. Questions about life and death, the flow of time.... Hmm, strange. The girl's gut tells her that something is not right. She's dying to find out what's going on... But after she does tease the Farmer a bit! *giggle*
The weird and annoying Farmer does weird and annoying things, and as long as it doesn't involve Dr. Aguar - he doesn't care at all. However, if he knows that the Farmer has an innate magical gift, he might be a little interested in it. Maybe they have the gift of talking to all animals? Aguar wouldn't mind using such an ability in his next experiments...
Aguar's assistant, Maddie, would just roll her eyes and snort at the stupidity of the situation. Talking to a turtle - they must have a lot of free time to spend on such absurdity... Don't you dare, Farmer, to even think about distracting her from work!
Hah, Jeric had never thought of talking to animals as something out of the ordinary, because the young man often cooed with his hens on the farm, but discussing questions about immortality and universal power was something new even for him. And it's as if the Farmer is waiting for the turtle to answer. A little confused, but leaves Farmer and Torts alone without giving it much attention.
"Um... Everything okay, Farmer?" Walking together, Paula and Anton worriedly glanced at each other, not knowing how to react to this. It just looked to them as if Farmer, unable to bear being alone, had started talking to the turtle. Taking a seat next to Farmer, Anton will awkwardly start a conversation, trying to see if Farmer is okay while Paula, sitting on the other side, observes Farmer's behaviour and reactions. Both convinced that Farmer is okay, they reminded lastly that they can always talk to them.
"Oh, it's a... little weird, but we won't bother you..." Shanice, Richard, Pika, Malaya, and Rorenzo were trying to be as polite as possible to Farmer, who is talking directly to the turtle. At the same time, Ezekiel, Burt, Olga, and Bryle will sincerely make a WTF face and ask what's wrong with Farmer. A group of residents that were trying to be polite, slightly shush the other group so they don't hurt Farmer's feelings. Well, they talk to the turtle, so what? That's no reason to be mean to them.
To be honest, the first thing Philip wanted to do when he saw such an unusual situation was to check on Farmer's condition. Because it's very hot today, and wonder if Farmer might be a little sick..... No offense to him, the doctor's instincts in him kicked it harder, so he decided to check on Farmer's health just in case. Well, as long as all is well, then Phillip won't keep Farmer from socializing with the, uh, turtle.
Lenny is sure to get a laugh out of this situation. "I see you've decided to befriend absolutely everyone here, ha ha!" Even though she is teasing the youth, deep down she is happy to see that the newly arrived farmer, whom Lewis had earlier praised, treats not only people but animals as well with kindness and respect.
Interesting, but Flor, Kiarra and June will ask permission to join Farmer to talk about different topics. Their dialogue with the turtle seemed quite interesting, and they would like to answer Farmer's questions directed towards Torts (which the turtle won't answer, naturally). Who would have thought such an interesting discussion could happen near a small turtle pond. Weird? Oh no, they don't think Farmer is weird.
"Don't even try to offer fish. He's quite fussy about food I gave him... Aye, did give this turtle some nice pollock - I could eat that fish myself!" Carmen will only smile radiantly at the Farmer, who will sit next to the turtle pond and play with the water. In the eyes of the industrious fisherman, the Farmer is exactly like her hija, not averse to playing, and therefore not at all surprised at the Farmer playing with Torts.
Man, Sean would have loved to stay with Farmer and ask why they were chatting and hanging out with a turtle.... Except Ian grabbed his coworker by the collar of the shirt, urging Sean back to their office. So much work and packages to do - and Sean's picking on the Farmer and the turtle! Ian doesn't have time to find out what Farmer is doing, and no, Sean, you don't have time either.
"Maybe he's... hungry? We've already had some fruit ripening." Kimpoi is still making attempts to learn how to communicate with people again without worry, but the situation where Farmer is discussing the meaning of life with the turtle caught him off guard. Well, he's trying at least...
"Good day to you, young adventurer." Given that Lola and Freddie had seen a lot of strange things in their line of work, a farmer talking to a turtle was not unusual for them. Though they themselves were assassins in their youth, the couple has seen all sorts of adventurers wielding magic: the elements of nature, the invisible, talking to animals and trees.... So Freddie and Lola just smile at the farmer politely.
"Farmer, I think your friend has left you." Shiro thought that Farmer was talking to one of the residents, and didn't even notice the person they were talking to was no longer with Farmer. Recognizing that it was the turtle they were talking to, Shiro let out a quiet "ok" and walked away.
"What are you doing, Farmer?" Faye, Ysabelle, Corine, and Alissa were discussing what dresses they would wear to the next party as Corine noticed Farmer sitting near a small pond. The girls literally take an interest in Farmer and Torts for a couple minutes, and then immediately leave Farmer alone and move on to more important matters. Except that Alissa will offer some fresh fruit or berries from the farm for the cute turtle, and Corine will offer some lettuce leaves that were definitely left at Pika's restaurant.
"Kiwi tried to climb on the turtle's back. Kiwi wanted to go for a ride! The turtle got angry and threw Kiwi off..... Kiwi will get revenge! Got knives!" Kiwi keeps her distance, watching Farmer and the Torts, but doesn't dare come any closer. After the 'Torts Rodeo' ended in failure, Kiwi still holds a grudge against the turtle. And will now keep an eye on Farmer: what if they and turtle are evil duo?
Depending on how well Jio knows Farmer, his reaction will be different : if they barely know each other and Spirit's Realm is still under Gabriella's control, Jio will just think Farmer is an idiot. But, after all the events... Hmm, there's a reason Farmer would be talking to a random turtle.... He need to follow up on that.
Kenneth remembers how he too used to mumble about his inventions to his dog, Buddy. Buddy always barked happily at all the stories his master told him. Kenneth misses him so much..... Farmer's philosophical discussion with the turtle reminded the electrician for these times. He felt a little sad at the memory. And no, it wasn't strange to him that the new Farmer was chatting with the turtle.

Hello, hello it's me 👋🏽
Okay so, there's something you mentioned about Claudia on this post here:
(Sorry, for some reason it's actually not letting me add the post link. So maybe if you want you can add it in your "answer" post so others can check that out as well)
I can quote you though: "I also believe Claudia has the mind gift which effected the process" In reference to ep 5 -- we all know what scene.
I wanted to ask you, can you expand on what you meant in saying you think she has the "mind gift" AND how did it effect the process, or why do you think it did?
-- One of the reasons why I had such a strong reaction to that statement, is because while it's possible that I may be living under a rock about it. I have yet to see anyone else even mention it. And there's a very specific scene in the show that always stumps me, and I always considered something along those lines may be possible. But I just haven't seen literally anyone else talk about it. So I've just kept it to myself. So I'd love to know what your meta, or theory or analysis is on this --
Okay so first of all Claudia can block Louis out of her head and I think a young vampire fledgling who is 19 years old can't do that . Louis himself wasn't able to do that even though he was older than Claudia .
When Claudia goes out on a date with Charlie , charlie stated that he can't do it with Claudia because she looked so young but Claudia convinced him otherwise & it looked intense she wasn't being a cute girl on her first date she wanted charlie & she got him to do it with her . Either charlie was so attracted to her that didn't mind the age 😬 or Claudia used some mind gift on him . I think she didn't know if it's a power or not yet . At that point she just did it anyway.
But In Ep 5 when she came back to the house to take Louis I think she knew she had the power she didn't know what it was but she knew she could use it on Louis or even Lestat . I think if she wants to use it intentionally to get something she would do it very well . She came in & created a situation in which the argument started first between herself & Lestat & then she got Louis involved . She damn well knew Louis is Lestat's trigger point she damn well knew Louis wouldn't leave Lestat without seeing him actually hurt him or Claudia she damn well knew Lestat wouldn't let go of Louis easily . Go back & look at how Claudia is talking to Louis in his head in comparison to how she said some stuff louder , her eyes get bigger & more determined & angry while she's talking to Louis in his head . And when Lestat said read her Louis she changed the subject completely on Lestat's insecurities instead of her own . Which eventually blocked Louis to not be able to read her at that moment . And then she gave the last shot : let's be vampires with vampires worthy of your love . As if I'm the only one who is worthy of your love not Lestat . And Lestat couldn't do anything even when he yelled as if he was trying to take his mind out of control of Claudia's mind but he couldn't .
When Claudia went to the pharmacy she wanted a drug which was very dangerous & forbidden especially if you're a 14 year old kid . She wrote on a piece of paper & the pharmacist just gave it to her 😯
Both in the books & on the show She convinced Louis to do something he didn't like to do . She made him believe he wanted to kill Lestat while Louis didn't want that & if he did , he wanted to do it for Claudia . Louis hurts Lestat just to protect Claudia . After Louis killed Lestat on the show he became hateful of Claudia for awhile and Daniel called it out & we saw how Louis pushed Claudia to the wall & also in one of Jacob's recent interviews about S2 he mentioned that they're having problems . In the book when Louie took Lestat to the swamp he started to actually understand who he had killed it's the same on the show Louis realized what actually happened after Lestat was dead . As if he was under some kinda influence to that . In the book when Claudia was slitting Lestat's throat Louis wanted to jump in but Claudia yelled at him to stay away & do nothing so again some kinda mind gift I sense here & there .
Most importantly , in the recent trailer Armand who is the master of mind gift himself told Louis that she's good at shielding her thoughts & that's coming from Armand so he might have sensed something too . And I personally think even in the book Armand noticed that & besides wanting Louis to himself he killed her off Bc she would have been a threat to herself & Louis & himself & others .

So it's all but confirmed now that Pikmin 4 is a soft reboot of Pikmin 1 as a 'what-if' continuation from the original bad ending, but from there it's a good ending for the other two games.
Because Louie is sent to PNF-404 to find Olimar, he can't perform his premeditated crime of stealing and consuming an entire shipment of golden pikpik carrots, meaning the company won't be sent into spiraling debt and the company president won't be hunted down by the mob.
Because of the above, Olimar will be allowed to go directly home, meaning his wife will be in a more stable mindset and won't be tempted by gambling and scams. His children will also be happier.
Meanwhile, the Koppai famine is in the horizon but hasn't actually happened yet. The many fruits you collect get extracted for their Sparklium but the fruits themselves are still left intact (as seen in Schnauz's Treasure Log). The three Koppai castaways you rescue postgame are heavily implied to be related to the Pikmin 3 captains, and, considering the Rescue Corps' generosity in sharing their resources with Olimar, I see no reason why the fruit wouldn't be just given away to prevent the famine outright.
Finally, because Moss is the new 'captain' of the Pikmin, the Pikmin won't be left to fend for themselves and wiped out again as soon as everyone else leaves. Presumably her future offspring will continue this mutualistic relationship, but we also don't have to worry about them potentially slaughtering the rest of the local ecosystem because while it's possible for the skills to be passed down, the gear won't.

"Finding balance" - Part 1
An important lesson in the kk trilogy and in Cobra Kai is "finding balance in your life", but what does this mean in the context of the story in Cobra Kai?
Tumblr media
"You can know all the moves, but none of that matters unless you have balance... I mean balance in your life."
Finding balance is about coping with trauma, especially with your emotions and responses due to trauma. This is a major theme that is explored throughout the series. Through the characters' stories, we're shown that trauma isn't permanently gone by "finding balance" momentarily. "Finding balance in your life" is a constant struggle that you have to consciously work on.
In this post, I'm going to talk about Daniel's struggle with finding balance. In a follow-up post, I'm going to talk about Robby's struggle with finding balance.
Daniel's struggle with "finding balance" in s1-s4
Tumblr media
Daniel's trauma is rooted mostly in what Silver did to him back in kk3. In s1e1, when Daniel saw Johnny for the first time after about 35 years, Daniel had no issues with him and said that Cobra Kai was the problem back then. But, since s1e2, reminders about Daniel's past experiences with Cobra Kai crop up every so often, triggering him and causing him to lose "balance"/"focus". These are some examples from throughout the first 4 seasons:
s1
When Daniel first saw that Johnny brought back Cobra Kai, Daniel was hit with flashbacks. Daniel later confronted Johnny after Daniel had heard Kyler's version of Johnny beating him up.
When Johnny drew on Daniel's billboard, Daniel retaliated with getting the rents raised for the CK strip mall so that Johnny would have to shut down his dojo. Amanda called Daniel out for this, and Daniel took up karate again to find balance.
When Daniel found out that Robby is Johnny's son, Daniel asked Robby if it was a con (a reference to Silver's con on Daniel in kk3) and kicked Robby out without giving him a chance to explain, although Daniel had told Robby when he'd fallen for Louie's first prank that Daniel would hear Robby's side of things from now on. In fact, Robby had stepped between Johnny and Daniel and told Johnny that he would have to fight him before he hurts Daniel, but Daniel still didn't listen to Robby and kicked him out.
s2
Following the avt, Daniel was pretty driven to reopen Miyagi-Do to take down Cobra Kai,
"That's why I'm opening up Miyagi-Do. So we can fight back, take down Cobra Kai."
He later found balance again and said that the people in Cobra Kai aren't the enemy, there are no enemies, and the goal of Miyagi-Do is to teach a better way.
When Daniel saw Kreese with Johnny for the first time, Daniel lost balance again and became even more determined than before to use Miyagi-Do to take down Cobra Kai. There are interesting parallels between this situation with Johnny and Kreese in s2e2 and that with Silver and Kreese in kk3. For example, Johnny had told the avt committee in s1 that Kreese was dead, but Kreese was now with Johnny here in s2e2. In kk3, Silver had told Daniel when they first met that Kreese was dead, but Kreese was later with Silver when Silver revealed the truth about the whole scheme to Daniel.
Tumblr media
"Dead, my ass."
When Miyagi-Do was vandalized and the medal of honor was stolen, Daniel lost his balance again and confronted Johnny.
One morning Kreese also paid the Miyagi-Do dojo a visit, threatening Daniel and his students and talking about a war coming. Daniel continued to be so focused on the dojo, that he neglected the dealership and his marriage, until once again he remembered that Miyagi would tell him to focus on what's important.
When Robby didn't bring Sam home, Daniel found Sam at Johnny's, and Johnny wouldn't let Daniel in, Daniel completely lost his balance, fought with Johnny, and kicked Robby out again without giving him a chance to explain. Daniel told Robby that Daniel gave Robby a second chance, it was all a mistake, and it was up to Robby if he wanted to end up like Johnny (believing that Robby had also gotten Sam drunk).
s3
After the school fight, Daniel shut down Miyagi-Do completely and didn't do what he could have to defend Robby and Miyagi-Do's reputation. Daniel still believed in what he'd said to Robby in Johnny's apartment. After Johnny almost killed someone in the garage fight, Daniel lost his balance more and claimed that Robby had too much of Johnny in him and then called the cops on Robby without even talking to him first or making sure that he was okay (including mentally and emotionally) and allowing him to turn himself in. Daniel's trip to Okinawa helped Daniel reconnect with Mr. Miyagi and find balance again.
After finding out about the arcade fight and the restraining order that Kreese had put on Amanda, Daniel (and Amanda) tried to use the landlord to shut down Cobra Kai.
After Kreese's students attacked his home and his daughter, Daniel lost his balance again, confronted Kreese and fought him for the first time. Daniel was poised to strike a finishing blow but stopped because Sam showed up.
s4
Daniel was off-balance when he first tried to work with Johnny in running a joint dojo. Daniel even told the students, "We all have anger inside. But I want you to let it go. Don't let your emotions control you. You have to be the one in control. Right?" but then he immediately lost control of his emotions because of Johnny. Later, Daniel seemed to find balance again. Though, he did beat up the hockey players after Johnny provoked the situation.
Of course, when Silver came to Miyagi-Do and Daniel saw him for the first time in about 35 years, Daniel lost his balance again.
Tumblr media
Daniel insisted to Johnny that Miyagi-Do would be the best way to try to take down Silver now because Miyagi-Do had helped Daniel take down Silver in the past. Daniel agreed to fight Johnny in a match so that Daniel could train both their dojos in only Miyagi-Do if he won. Daniel even resorted to using the pressure points technique on Johnny to try to win the match. Of course, it ended in a draw, and Johnny and Daniel's alliance fell apart because of their differing opinions on how to handle what was done to Hawk.
We don't know what details Daniel told Johnny about Silver, but eventually Daniel remembered Robby when Amanda commented about teens like Tory being thought of as lost causes and needing wake-up calls. Daniel went to talk to Robby about Silver and shared some details about what Silver had done to him in the past. Daniel was so focused on delivering his speech about Silver that Daniel didn't even consider that Robby had accused him of trying to use him for the tournament. Meaning, Daniel didn't care to actually address their issues and just focused on Silver and Cobra Kai.
Tumblr media
Daniel also lost his balance with Anthony when Daniel caught him playing games even though he was grounded. Daniel broke Anthony's tablet and yelled "Quiet!" at him out of frustration. A little earlier in that conversation, Daniel had admit that the tournament was getting to him and was taking away his attention from what was important. That is, Daniel admit that he was off balance. No doubt, Mr. Miyagi would not have approved of Daniel's behavior towards Anthony.
At the s4 avt, when Daniel realized that Robby had taught the Cobras Miyagi-Do because Robby's students were beating all of his students using Miyagi-Do, Daniel lost his balance and self-righteously confronted Robby about it, even taunting Robby about wanting to get back at his dad (like in s1) and to get back at all of them, completely dismissive of the traumas that Johnny and he himself have caused Robby. Daniel also tauntingly said that Robby could slip another Miyagi-Do "secret" to his friends: "Never put passion in front of principle. Because even if you win, you lose." Of course, Daniel himself has been "putting passion in front of principle" this whole time, which he's been oblivious to.
Tumblr media
Overall, Daniel keeps losing his balance because of his own trauma, which he doesn't realized, and keeps feeling justified in his own behavior. At the same time, Daniel either tells Robby to "let go" of his anger to find balance (s1), or that Robby can learn from his mistakes (s2/3), or that Robby didn't learn anything Daniel taught him (s4). However, Daniel himself can't "let go" of his own anger to find balance in his life, nor does he learn from his own mistakes. Seems like Daniel himself "didn't learn anything [Miyagi] taught [him]". Daniel does course correct when he is called out, but Daniel has yet to realize that he himself has a lot of work to do to "find balance in his life".
Other indications of Daniel's lingering trauma
Until Silver showed up at Miyagi-Do in s4, Daniel never once spoke Silver's name or spoke of him, not even when Daniel would speak about his own experiences, especially with Cobra Kai. This is one subtle indication of how much Silver's actions in kk3 have affected Daniel. I'll talk about two moments that come to mind, though there are more:
In s1e7, during the avt committee meeting, Daniel avoided looking at the pictures of Silver being passed around, didn't himself mention Silver's name, and kept the conversation focused on Johnny and him being Daniel's bully while Johnny was in Cobra Kai. This was all despite Silver and the events of kk3 being brought up as the reason that Cobra Kai had been banned years ago.
In s3e7, Daniel told Sam about his match with Barnes: "My opponent was ruthless. Before I knew it, I was on that mat and the fear had completely taken over. I was paralyzed. I couldn't move. The thought of getting up and facing that guy just scared the living daylights out of me. I just wanted to run off and hide." Daniel then talked about how Mr. Miyagi had helped him overcome his fear and find his focus ("balance") again. Daniel told Sam: "I still live with the fear." Silver had been the main cause of Daniel's fear in that match, not Barnes as much. Silver's plan had been to make Daniel feel fear in every part of his mind, and Silver had been successful. Daniel admit here that he still lives with the fear that Silver had instilled in him then. In fact, in s1e3, Daniel had told Amanda, "I've known plenty of guys that seemed harmless that were real pieces of crap behind the scenes," a subtle reference to Silver. Daniel said this soon after Johnny had brought back Cobra Kai, an indication that Silver was on Daniel's mind.
Daniel's worst fear came true in s5
"Cobra Kai has taken over the Valley. All that anyone knows now is Cobra Kai karate. Terry Silver's karate."
In s5, Daniel was the most off-balance he's been since Cobra Kai's return. Silver was finally realizing his dream of expanding Cobra Kai. In kk3, when Silver said that Miyagi would just be a memory as Silver expanded Cobra Kai, Daniel had retorted that Miyagi wouldn't be but Silver would be instead. In s5, Daniel having to shut down Miyagi-Do (Miyagi's memory) as Silver started expanding Cobra Kai was a double hit for Daniel. Silver also announced during the charity auction in s5e4 that he'd be offering free karate classes to underprivileged kids, like he'd said in kk3 that he would offer free classes. A main difference is that in s5e7 Daniel said "All that anyone knows now is Cobra Kai karate, Terry Silver's karate", while in the past, Silver had said "John Kreese's karate."
Tumblr media
Terry: "You think this is the end of it, old man? I'm gonna open Cobra Kai dojos all over this Valley. Hell, I might even teach for free! From now on, all that anyone will know about is Cobra Kai karate. John Kreese's karate. You won't even be a memory!" Daniel: "Yes, he will. You won't."
Throughout s5, although Silver was focused only on expanding Cobra Kai, Daniel kept acting against Silver, wanting to shut down Cobra Kai and thinking that Silver was up to something. In turn, Silver kept responding to Daniel's attempts to stop him. Daniel lost more balance as the season went on until he realized in s5e5 that it wasn't worth losing his family over. When Daniel went to apologize to Stingray for confronting him earlier, Silver showed up instead and confronted Daniel, beating him in their fight. At first, no one had understood Daniel's suspicions about Silver or Daniel's efforts to thwart Silver's plans. Amanda, for example, didn't understand and eventually put some distance between Daniel and their family. It's only after Jessica explained to Amanda the elaborate scheme Silver had played on Daniel in the past, as well as after Daniel's confrontation with Silver in Stingray's apartment, that Amanda started to understand Daniel's reasons for wanting to take down Silver. After his fight with Silver, everyone rallied around Daniel and helped him ultimately take down Cobra Kai and defeat Silver.
After that, Johnny told Daniel, "All right, LaRusso. You finally took Silver out," and Daniel responded:
"No more looking over our shoulders at every turn, right?"
Many of Daniel's lines throughout the season indicate that Daniel's trauma because of Silver's elaborate scheme in kk3 was Daniel's driving force for trying to take down Silver in s5. And, this line that Daniel says after taking down Silver indicates that Daniel's trauma is still very much present at the end of s5, despite Daniel succeeding against Silver. That is, Daniel still believed that Silver had been actively scheming against him/them in present day, like he had done in the past. Daniel's paranoia about Silver had also rubbed off on the others. Johnny, Louie, and Chozen all assumed that Silver was surveilling Johnny after Silver had run into him at the hospital. At the time, Daniel said that for now he thought that Silver wouldn't do anything like that because he wouldn't want to lose his spot in the world tournament.
The thing is Silver hadn't been doing anything proactive against Daniel or any of them in s5. Even Silver taking part in the charity auction was a means to his end of spreading Cobra Kai. No doubt, Silver was purposely playing with Daniel at the event, but Silver still had his own purpose for taking part in that event in the first place. Silver was being honest when he told Kim in s5e8 that he didn't care about the rivalry. Silver had really only been expanding his new business throughout s5, like he had wanted to do in the past as shown in the flashback with Kreese in s5e7. However, Silver would react extremely to Daniel's actions to stop him because Silver was determined to succeed in his goals. Each time Silver reacted, he would sneak up on Daniel, which makes Daniel's comment at the end somewhat warranted. However, Daniel still views his actions against Silver throughout s5 as having been necessary because Daniel still believes that Silver had been planning something against Daniel all throughout s5, which Silver hadn't been. For example, when Silver had said in s5e3 that he had old friends he could call too, Silver had been talking about Kim (to get her help to train the students for the world tournament) and not about Barnes, whom Daniel had assumed.
Daniel's lingering suspicions about Silver are of course understandable, given the events of the past and how extreme Silver's reactions had been throughout s5, like burning down Barnes's store. Silver and Daniel's confrontation in Stingray's apartment had also been especially brutal. Silver had snuck up on Daniel again. Daniel waved a white flag, but Silver refused to accept it. Silver then provoked Daniel by threatening his family. In s2e5, when Daniel confronted Johnny about the medal of honor and dojo vandalism, Daniel said that Johnny knows that Daniel won't strike first. However, in s5e5, Daniel struck first against Silver in response to his comment about wrapping Cobra Kai gis around Daniel's kids, which shows how off balance Silver made Daniel. At the end, Silver "showed mercy" to Daniel because Silver wanted Daniel to live to see what came next. But, what came next was Silver's continued expansion of Cobra Kai and trying to take Cobra Kai to a world stage, and no plans for personal attacks on Daniel or anyone else.
Tumblr media
A lesson Chozen had taught Daniel in s3 was "If an enemy insists on war, you take away their ability to wage it." Silver wasn't waging war on anyone in s5 (not even on Johnny, despite Silver's actions and his promise to Kreese in s4). In kk3, Silver absolutely had been. He'd personally gone after Daniel, and through him, Miyagi as well, and when Silver lost to Miyagi, he'd threatened to open up Cobra Kais all over the Valley. In s5, Silver was realizing his dream, but he wasn't waging a personal war against anyone and was only being reactive. However, Daniel took the fight to him after losing the s4 avt and went on offense with Chozen's help, trying to stop Silver's plans for expanding Cobra Kai.
In s4, Daniel had told Johnny that you can't strike first against this man, and in s5, Daniel kept paying the price each time he tried to. Daniel's line in s5e6 seems like a foreshadowing, "But what if standing up to Silver just makes things worse again? Every time I try to fight for what's right, somebody gets hurt." After this, all of them, struck first against Silver, first by interfering with his attempt to get Cobra Kai accepted into the Sekai Taikai and later by attacking his home and dojo. Before they did the latter, Silver had said, "We'll send them a message way before the tournament. They'll stay out of our way or someone will get hurt. When and how to deliver it. I don't know yet, but it won't be subtle." It wouldn't be surprising if Silver comes back with a vengeance in s6 and this time plays his kk3-level games with Daniel and Johnny.
s5 was an interesting situation, and it leaves me wondering what Miyagi would have said. After all, he had told Daniel that the lesson about balance is not just for karate but for life as well. After losing the fight to Silver in Stingray's apartment, Daniel said that he now understood that Miyagi walked away from fights because it's not their job to fight the monsters of the world. Sam later said that if Miyagi were there now, he'd say that it's a fight they couldn't walk away from. However, given the whole context of the situation, I don't think Sam was right about that. Even after he'd defeated Silver, Daniel believed that he had to be looking over his shoulder for Silver almost all season, even though this time around Silver hadn't been proactively plotting against Daniel or them but was only reactive each time Daniel did something to try to stop Silver from expanding Cobra Kai.
In s5e5, when Daniel was really off-balance and reeking of booze (Johnny still handed him a beer though), Daniel tried to convince Johnny to come with him to fight Silver. He also suggested that they should have fought it out when they were teens. This is definitely not the Miyagi-Do way. In s5e10, Daniel was more balanced, and even though he was drunk, he refused to go and fight Silver and tried to convince Johnny not to. Interestingly, Daniel was wearing a purple shirt that night when he fought Silver again (not Daniel's usual blue, which visually represents Miyagi-Do), and Daniel ended up fighting Silver instead of walking away from the fight as Miyagi would have done. Silver had said that he was the only one left standing from the fight at his house, but Daniel doesn't usually take Silver at his word. He baited Daniel into the fight, thinking that he himself would win, and Daniel took the bait.
I want to be clear, I'm not victim blaming Daniel. Silver isn't innocent by any means, and Daniel's win at the end was very satisfying. I do wonder though if Miyagi would have approved of Daniel's actions against Silver throughout s5, or if Miyagi would have told Daniel to "let it go" and "find balance", which Daniel wanted to do in s5e5 after he'd realized that he'd lost his balance again. This had been similar to how Daniel lost his balance in s2 and s4, allowing it to affect his family life. At the end of s5, Daniel's false belief that Silver had been plotting against him since the start of s5 was still there even after Daniel had defeated him seemingly for good, and Daniel voiced this belief. That is, Daniel's trauma was still with him at the end of s5.
Daniel's ability to mentor is affected by his inability to find balance
Although Daniel is one of the better mentors in the story (and that bar is low), Daniel has at least two flaws as a mentor.
One is that he hasn't formed his own identity as a mentor. He still hasn't been able to make Mr. Miyagi's teachings his own. Robby for example was able to successfully teach Miyagi-Do without using the chores. Although Daniel is trying to uphold Miyagi's legacy, Miyagi told Daniel that one day he'll do karate his own way. Daniel remembered this at the end of s4 and is now okay with the kid's combining styles, but Daniel has yet to apply this teaching to his own mentoring approach.
The second flaw, and the one that applies to the post, is that Daniel's focus as a sensei, especially since the s1 avt, has always been on taking down Cobra Kai. Daniel had restarted karate to find balance, but since the s1 avt, whenever he loses balance, Daniel keeps changing his focus to using Miyagi-Do to take down Cobra Kai.
In s1e10, when he took Robby to the Miyagi-Do dojo after the avt, Daniel told Robby:
"I know I said you have to let go of your anger and show forgiveness, but... when the fight comes to you, you have to be ready to fight back."
In s2e1, when Daniel was off balance, he told Sam that he reopened Miyagi-Do after the avt to take down Cobra Kai. But later, when Daniel found balance, Daniel said that Miyagi-Do is about teaching a better way. After Kreese's return, Daniel went back to using Miyagi-Do to take down Cobra Kai.
In s3, Daniel failed his students, especially Robby, and Miyagi's legacy in how he handled the school fight and Robby's situation. Daniel didn't defend Robby and the dojo the way he should have, allowing his issues with Cobra Kai and Johnny to cloud his judgement of Robby. Daniel also closed Miyagi-Do. He only later reopened the dojo to help the students stand up against Cobra Kai, but he eventually made a deal with Kreese that if Miyagi-Do won the tournament Cobra Kai would close. That is, he was once again using Miyagi-Do to take down Cobra Kai.
In s4, Daniel's pep-talk at the tournament was all about taking down Cobra Kai:
"...and for some of you, it's your first karate tournament. I still remember my first All Valley, where I stood here proudly with my sensei, and where I faced down the bullies of Cobra Kai. Now getting here hasn't been easy. There've been some bumps in the road, to put it mildly. Remember what's at stake. If Cobra Kai wins, our dojo closes for good. Of course not. Because we have something that Cobra Kai doesn't. We have Miyagi-Do. ...and show Cobra Kai what we're made of. Are you ready?"
Daniel included no words of encouragement or inspiration for his students about their potential and abilities or that he believes in them. Since Silver's return, he'd insisted that Miyagi-Do is the only way they can beat Cobra Kai. Here, he repeated that sentiment. In the end, Daniel relied on Cobra Kai to win. Sam had secretly learned from Johnny, and Hawk already knew Cobra Kai well. In many ways, Daniel hadn't prepared his students properly for the tournament. Daniel also got upset with Robby for teaching the Cobras Miyagi-Do, but Daniel wouldn't have had to worry about that had Daniel been a better teacher: "There's so such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher."
In s5, Daniel said when shutting down the dojo:
It's great to see you all back here again. You know we had one goal going into the All Valley. Beat Cobra Kai.
He went on to say that closing Miyagi-Do is best so that they don't have a target on their backs and that this is no longer a tournament but real life. However, he never should have put that burden on the kids. He especially put that burden on Sam, his LaRusso 2.0, which made her loss even more immense for her because she felt like it was her fault that they now had to close. When they later reopened the dojo, it was once again to take down Cobra Kai.
In s2, Amanda and Daniel had this conversation:
Daniel: "I've just been focused on giving these kids a chance to defend themselves." Amanda: "Well, sometimes, when you focus on one thing, you lose focus of everything else that matters."
Daniel has been so focused on taking down Cobra Kai by using his Miyagi-Do students that he has lost sight of the real purposes of being a sensei and a mentor. Because of this, Daniel keeps failing his students, most of all Robby.
Through Daniel's story, we're shown some things. (1) A lot of times, you can act in response to how you feel based on your trauma (trauma response). The response may not always be right or warranted, and others may not understand why. It can also affect your life in ways you don't realize. Sometimes, someone undeserving, like the other store owners in s1, or Robby or Anthony (generational trauma), bear the brunt of that response. (2) Trauma isn't just magically overcome permanently. You can't just "let it go" or "find balance" momentarily for it to be gone completely or for you to trust again so blindly, nor is it gone after you've defeated and gotten rid of the person who traumatized you. Trauma is something that you still carry with you and need to work through long term, which is something Daniel himself has yet to realize.

“You remember lesson about balance? Lesson not just karate only. Lesson for whole life. Whole life have a balance. Everything be better. Understand?” (Daniel remembering Miyagi's lesson in s1e6. This is an interesting shot. Daniel in present day is looking in the direction that Mr. Miyagi was standing in in the flashback, as if Daniel's staring right at him while remembering his words. Hes also looking in the direction of his grave.)
This brings me to Robby's struggle with "finding balance", which I'm writing separate post for. (I may write one for Sam too, but I prefer to prioritize my Robby posts.)
(Note: Please don't reblog or reply with any dismissive comment or tag expressing negativity towards the show writers, the writing, or the serious aspects of the show. Such comments/tags minimize the contents of the post. This blog (link) explains more about my general thoughts about posting after s5.)

As I’m currently resting my wrist from drawing and I’m still thinking out more detailed story beats for WC I thought I’d just do some random rambling about my Pikmin au that won’t be very organized lol. Also adding a cut here as not to flood anyone’s unfortunate timeline
First off since I imagine I’ll get asked this someone someday, a small list of all the local losers preferences.
Olimar - Straight Cis. Doesn’t really get anything outside his bubble but is supportive regardless.
Louie - AroAce Cis (also has the tism). His only love is food.
Alph - GayDemi Cis. Likes love but not actively looking for it.
Brittany - GayDemi Cis. Her and Alph always laugh about the fact people think they’re dating just because they show physical affection to one another sometimes.
Charlie - Bi Cis. Koppite crew is literally the LGB.
Pom - Straight trans. You are not safe from Pingo propaganda.
Terry - Bi Cis. Probably doesn’t even know what being bi is and just thinks he has to make up his mind.
Penelope - Pan cis. Olimars shock when he found out when they were dating that she found girls cute too.
Zack - Pan trans. Saw he had 13 brothers and said wouldn't it be funny to have another.
Yorke - Straight cis. The most gay looking straight guy.
Nelle - Straight cis. to yorke "i hate you sm. wanna kiss"
Dobbs - Gay cis. Charlie and Dobbs are the local toxic yaoi so sorre
Shepherd - AroBi cis. the only dates that exist are DOG PARK dates.
Collin - BiDemi cis. Currently married to coffee and 4 hours of sleep
Russ - Straight cis. Probably does have a wife but no kids
Yonny - AroAce non-binary (F to NB) masculine presenting. Galaxy record for being the first person to survive giving top surgery to himself.
Dingo - Straight cis. Yonny makes fun of his failure of flirting.
Bernard - AceBi cis. He will never realize hes being flirted with at any point in time.
Now thats done, some more stuff about just some general relationships people have with each other. Olimar and Louie when Louie first joined HF were pretty neutral about each other even after 4 but after 2 and deeply apologizing for leaving him behind scared, Louie and Olimar got much friendlier with each other. They started carpooling and even spending some time outside of work together. While Terry thinks Louie is cool if a bit strange sometimes, Lebe is rather more skeptical and scared of him. Penelope worries he might be a bad influence but can't help but worry about Louie as much as Olimar does when Oli vents to her about Louie.
Alph and Brittany are best friends but their relationship isnt the most balanced at times. Brittany is quite quick to getting emotional and blaming others for things. Alph tries not to hold it against her too much given hes aware of her issues and why she is like that in the first place but it can rub off on his timid nature. Though he admired Charlie all through 3, Brittany's negative comments eventually changed Alph's perception on Charlie to just being someone he works with.
Now some of my own world building brain rot wo! a time system, joy. I was just thinking about how do people keep time between every other planet so i propose: Galactic time. Galactic time is not based off anything but purely numbers. 1 "day" is 20 hours long and there is no PM or AM. Its based of a single founding clock that all the other galactic clocks follow now and is usually exclusively used for interstellar work and jobs or meeting up on different planets. The galactic months are all 25 days long with only 10 of them. a galactic week is 5 days long and though i don't have names at the moment the months and days also have different names as not to get confused with any planet names or calendars they might have.
thank you if you've read my ramblings this far. have louie drinking paint

olimar,
have you heard from your family lately? how are they? how do you cope with the thought that your family is hundreds of lightyears away? i can imagine its draining...
louie,
what do you have waiting for you back on hocotate? a family, a fortune, a good meal? what drives you to return?
sincerely, solar
I often get e-mails about every little thing, when my trips begin. . . As the days wear on, I think they begin to forget, until my son floods my inbox with dozens of graded homework assignments and photos from his favourite games, or when my daughter sends me selfies of herself and her mother, or when my wife chastises me for taking so long and bribes me with her beautiful confections. It's moments like these that carry me through my long expeditions. I can get a little emotional at night, when I read through everything before bedtime . . . But who wouldn't?! It's been ten months. I miss them dreadfully, but at least they're keeping me in the know.
I must admit, though, that most days, I guiltily imagine how good it would be to bring them here. This simple life, full of wonder untainted by our hands and by our money. . . But I'm terrified of putting them in danger. My familiarity isn't a justification. If only there was a way to make it safe. . . There are so many strategies regarding local fauna, but the air is such a problem!
- Captain Olimar
Hocotate? Oh, right. Sometimes I forget this distant planet isn't my home. I've become so used to life here that it slips my mind. Surrounded by such delectable creatures day in and day out... It's like I'm living my wildest dreams! Hrmm... I don't have much in the way of family to return to. I've only had Nana for much of my life. She isn't doing too well, so that's why I'll have to pry myself away from this bountiful buffet when the time comes to return. She sends me mail sometimes. It's the only mail I get, so I'm glad it's from her. It's great to know that she's still up and kicking.
A fortune, though... I've always wanted to start my own cooking show.
- Captain Louie
