Hello! I've recently taken the plunge and downloaded Ridgeside village for one of my save files. I'm enjoying it so far and I am eyeing some of the romanceable candidates 👀.
So I was wondering, you know the ask a while back about the farmer being oblivious to all of the bachelor and bachelorette's being in love with them? Could you do the same with the Ridgeside characters? And maybe expanded?
Eyyyyy glad you liked the Ridgeside Village mod, dear anon ☺️
I've added both SVE and RSV candidates as well. Sorry if the headcanon came out a bit stilted (wasn't sure what the best format was lol). Thanks for the ask and enjoy 💕
RSV bachelors/ettes with oblivious Farmer:
After the young Pelican Town candidates failed miserably to win the heart of Farmer, who must be the most oblivious person in the world, the bachelors and bachelorettes of Ridgeside Village decided that their time had finally come. They're the ones who can get the Farmer's attention, aren't they? Oh, but they didn't, because they didn't count on two things.
First, there were still competitors in Pelican Town - it was just that the other residents hadn't immediately joined the "hunt". Although Sophia and Victor weren't even sure what was even going on, they just wanted to spend more time with their friend Farmer. Victor, however, tried to give a couple compliments, but the gist of the content of his words apparently didn't get through to Farmer. It's a shame of course, but both Sophia and Victor just get over it and just switch to their own lives (and maybe even each other). Claire also threw a loving glance in the direction of the eternally energetic Farmer, but due to uncertainty and constant fatigue she decided that she had almost no chance (it's not true, but *sigh*). Olivia, of course, could show all these young amateurs how to properly compliment and hint at the object of their affection, but feels it's not her age to go after Farmer. She will respect Farmer's choice, and may even push Victor toward Farmer a little bit so that her son will be more confident.
Second, Ridgeside Village residents doesn't really realize how painfully oblivious Farmer is. All the advances and compliments the Farmer (unknowingly) dodges like a spy film protagonist dodges enemy bullets and lasers. And Jeric and Blair will be the first to question their own flirting abilities. Maybe they should have been more.... assertive?
Standing nearby the restaurant, Corine, Ysabelle and Paula greeted the Farmer more flirtatiously, asking to spend time with them just a little bit more. The girls decided to play fair: to whom the Farmer would pay more attention - the winner. Except that Farmer thanked "their good friends for the compliments" and ran off on their farming business, leaving girls in shock. Paula at least laughed at the comicality of the situation.
Faye and Irene thought that the way to the Farmer's heart was through their stomach, so when the girls found out what were the favourite dishes of the daredevil of the entire Stardew Valley, they immediately began the preparation. The Farmer thanked them not with dates, as the two girls had hoped, but with... fresh fruit from the greenhouse. Shit. Okay, well, at least the fruit is delicious. Bryle, passing by, decided to tease Faye and show her the "real master of pick-up", since he himself had had his eye on Farmer for a long time. A complete fiasco, as you might expect, causing Faye herself to start laughing at her friend's failure. The two will then argue again (but will become a couple in the future, but that's another story).
Anton... Doesn't even look in the Farmer's direction. He wants to try, wants to give them at least one good compliment, but... Why? So that Farmer will be disappointed in him like his ex-fiancée? No, Anton won't risk their friendship for that.
Apparently Yoba itself (or other magical forces) are protecting Farmer from flirting, because there's no way they couldn't pick up on Daia's hints. The girl is almost directly flirting, proposing to become something more, trying to kiss and, pardon my language, "get them into the nearest bush for some fun." "Into the bushes? Maybe we'll find a cute bunny there!" ....Bunny, huh.
But that's at least some effort, though, because Jio didn't come up with anything better at all than to express his flirtation in the form of... completely ignoring Farmer. Like, the more he ignores them, the more interested they'll be in him. Weird logic, and then the grumpy will have a face like "Wait, that's illegal" meme when Farmer ignores his ignore (and Kiwi is now constantly teasing him).
Ian, Kenneth, Phillip and Shiro decide not to act without haste, but to learn from the mistakes of other candidates who have failed on the love front. Slowly but surely, they try to spend more time with Farmer without making any drastic moves yet. And honestly, even if they too fail to endear themselves to Farmer, a caring and loyal friend would be enough for them. Sean also wanted to take leisurely steps at first, but he didn't have the patience and so he heads to the bench with the other losers. Better luck next time!
Zayne is a rather well-mannered young man, and he is not going to impose his company on anyone without their desire. If the Farmers themselves approach him, then he will try to make small talk and apply all his knowledge of flirting. It's a similar situation with June, but he may be a little more stubborn as he, unlike the others, has limited time and will be less likely to do so when he goes back for two whole seasons.
Flor, Alissa and Maddie are pretty shy in that regard, so they'll leave the flirting and sighing heavily when Farmer walks by. It's just that Farmer is a very close friend to them all, and to demand anything more from them is somehow wrong. If only they would notice... *Sigh*
For Kiarra, the best way is to be herself: no intrusive flirting, no those innuendos. Just have a nice time with a (so far) friend and not worry about anything. And then - just ask Farmer straight out. Do they want to date? Yay, Farmer and Kiarra have become a couple. They don't want to date? Yay, Farmer and Kiarra remain best friends. It's simple.
Magnus, who decided to introduce Lance to Mr. Aguar, became unwitting spectators of an oblivious Farmer being chased by a crowd of admirers. It's a funny situation, really. Heh, maybe Magnus would have joined them, but he decided to let fate take its course. If he's meant to be with Farmer in this dimension, then so be it, but if not, well, just suck it up and move on. Lance, on the other hand, believes he's in charge of his own destiny, and his sly smile suggests that he'll take matters into his own hands once the competition has died down. He has a couple of trump cards up his sleeve....
...............
And somewhere nearby, the much-admired Lenny is sitting on a bench, eating popcorn and watching the whole thing like a favourite comedy show. "Huh, and they said there'd be no fun in old age!".

Wait actually I should make a poll for this.
I added a bunch of mods that expand dialogue for all of the vanilla characters and now I can’t decide.
I’ll be streaming the answer tonight in like 3.5 hours.

went to the doctor this morning. did a bunch of tests. tested for covid, strep, rsv, and flu A and flu B. but the doctor said something else has been going around and knocking people on their asses for anywhere from four days to a month. so. it's most likely that mysterious other thing.
good news though: before going to the doctor, i took a shower! it was nice to be clean finally. it's still nice to not feel like my face is caked in gross.
told joel about my appointment. he's concerned about me.
i'm tired. i slept a bunch and drank more water. hopefully i feel less shitty sooner than later, but i wouldn't be mad about taking a few days off. but i should know then that every four months i'll get sick for a week. next time will be june. gotta prepare for that. falls right in line with my usual thrice annual illness. i was overdue for my february sickness, after all.
anyway, i'm tired and i need to sleep and coughing hurts and im probably getting my mom sick and i hate being responsible for getting people sick, especially my mom because i inherited my terrible immune system from her.
woohoo.
i think the reason i didn't get sick before this was pure stubbornness. which is funny. and terrible.
i crave the sweet release of death.

These vaccines are the first that aren't rolled out by the U.S. government, and without funding that was directed to public health programs in the state of emergency, the outreach is nowhere near what it was at the height of the pandemic, said Lori T. Freeman, the CEO of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).
. . .
All insurers are legally required to cover the COVID-19 vaccine, and the federal government is stepping in to pay for vaccines for those who lack insurance through the Bridge Access Program. But insurers have been slow to implement these vaccines into their systems, leading to the stuttered rollout of the vaccine, said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease and health policy professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center
"There have already been people who have gone to their pharmacies and physician's offices looking for the vaccine and have discovered that they haven't been covered yet, so that means they're going to have to come back again," Schaffner told Salon in a phone interview. "A vaccine deferred is often a vaccine that is never received, unfortunately."
. . .
Nationally, COVID hospitalizations have been steadily increasing since June, along with the rise of Omicron variants like EG.5 (nicknamed "Eris") and FL.1.5.1 (nicknamed Fornax.) The vaccines are predicted to work against these strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which evolves naturally in ways that will sometimes render vaccines next to useless. This is why new shots must be developed with some regularity.
. . .
Meanwhile, approximately 18 million Americans have developed long COVID and data suggests that number will continue to rise with more infections. Although the immunocompromised, elderly and people with other health conditions are the most vulnerable to severe infection, COVID-19 continues to be one of the top 10 leading causes of death for children in the U.S.
This rollout, including mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, boosts immunity toward Omicron variants. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended the shots for everyone 6 months and up and projects that this could prevent 400,000 hospitalizations and 40,000 deaths over the next two years.
. . .
Regardless, the question remains about how many people will take the new vaccines. Only about one in five people got last year's bivalent booster and one in four adults in the U.S. are completely unvaccinated, according to CDC data and the KFF survey. Although it has been improving over time, uptake has been particularly low in Black communities, in part because vaccination sites are disproportionately located in white neighborhoods but also because of decades of mistrust built up in response to prior medical malpractice.
Notably, just 6 million doses have been put aside for the uninsured through the Bridge Access Program, when at least 27 million people in the U.S. are uninsured, Freeman said. The demand for vaccines is a moving target that distributors are trying to balance without losing money, she added, especially because these vaccines have to be kept cold and take resources to store and administer.
-----
Absolutely get the vaccine! I recommend calling your insurance and pharmacy first though.

Went to the City Museum this weekend and finally got to go up on the rooftop. They have a ferris wheel up there that goes faster than any ferris wheel I've ever been on in my life!
We also got lots of compliments on our knee pads. They were pretty pricey, but worth it

Jumping off of this post, there is a nationwide shortage on several drugs commonly used for these infections or to treat pneumonia or bacterial infections that can result from these diseases.
Every prescription we fill for liquid amoxicillin, generic Augmentin, and generic Tamiflu pops up an alert to check our stock because there is a nationwide shortage. I cannot order these medications because all of the manufacturers carried by my distributor are on backorder with no release dates.
Right now we are still able to call the prescriber and get the antibiotics switched to one we have (Tamiflu does not have an alternative you're just sol there) but if the shortage carries on long enough I would expect these alternatives will probably start having availability issues as well.
This year is expected to be very bad as far as influenza and, in my area anyway, RSV cases are also really bad. And Covid never went away, despite the general public's popular belief, so naturally we're likely to see an uptick in that as people get complacent.
So yes, do what you can to protect yourself and others. Get your flu and covid shots, wear your mask, and wash your hands.

No art - just building a dollhouse :)
Want a word dump update? Here ya go.
So some folks know, others don’t (because c’mon shitposting on multiple social media places is difficult, I’m old) but come June?
I’ll be saying goodbye to my last Voluntary PreKindergarten class at the building I work at. Too much termite damage/new construction rules pretty much signed a death sentence for my center - and upper management decided it’s better to focus on their main building vs seeking a new building to rent. So… yeah. Been processing that big ass piece of emotions - 11 fucking years. Whooo.
I don’t know what comes next tbh, I’ve apparently been spoken about by management but I don’t know in what capacity beyond ‘That Micer, she knows what she’s doing!’ and I interview on Tuesday - for a behavioral room? For their Head Start? They’ve already said VPK enrollment was laughably low the previous year, and Head Start is similar enough that taming feral kids, cursing out and having chairs thrown at me every year is already my normal and I kinda like working with 4-5s again.
Public school? Everyone keeps telling me to apply but - this is fucking Florida, I can catch a fuckin felony reading Love Makes A Family (omg gay people) or Abuela (omg immigrants) so I’ll keep that on the back burner for the day I decide I -really- hate myself and decide to enroll for my bachelors in early childhood education and really take a look at working in the public school system.
But the 25 minute commute… uuuuuuugh, I don’t look forward to that.
So here I am, stuck in the middle - down ANOTHER coteacher - my replacement to the one fired quit after getting pneumonia atop of adult RSV atop of falling down the stairs and breaking two toes and NOW HER REPLACEMENT PUT IN HER TWO WEEKS.
But hey, I’m keeping myself busy :)

2023 Wallet
so in January this year that I got into a LinkedIn conversation. There was going to be a recession. Period full stop. The problem is that the US was already in a recession. This was the first full year where Covid was actually "normal" people traveled and went out and spent money on events. I called it in January ..
The Pineapple
In March the US and EU got a first hand slap in the face at what Higher interest rates yielded ...bank failures. The high interest meant that banks that had 60% of their backstop in bonds actually lost money when a run on the banks happened. The one silent page of that story is if that run was caused by international entities. The other silent page was how much digitalmonetary was being used to back up a bank? No one has really answered that question. Unfortunately or fortunately JP Morgan was there for the US but once again I am reminded by how the US Government asked Warren Buffet in 2007 if he would loan or back up US banks and he said No. then in 2011 the US Congress failed to adhere locks and balance to the US banking industry and now we have a Fed Chair that is worth over $55 Million dollars and should have retired per se.
Micro Economy Bounces
Tom Cruise movie Maverick put people back in the movie theater seats. At $12 -$18 a seat the movie goer spent easily $100 just for the ticket to see a film. There was lots of films to see. After Maverick the Memorial Day weekend launched Barbie and Oppenheimer the year would end with Godzilla Minus One and more films that lured people back to the Theaters.
The fall saw both Taylor Swift and Beyonce also shoot people into the theater at $25 people flocked to the theaters to see a show they already saw in person or didn't get to see. This was one thing that could be stated the movie going experience was back.
The other micro economy ? Podcasts This year saw a huge jump in the production o them from literally EVERYWHERE. I still abhor the podcast because I think its noise pollution but it is. The secondary economy? Food as prices jumped serendipitously on certain food items you saw show after show farm after farm either thrive or highlight throughout the news cycle.
Poison
A train derailment, A bridge collapse, A tornado hit a manufacturing plant, A literal barn full of cows exploded. The economy exposed the fragile state of infrastructure throughout the world. The US insurance companies left states refusing policies on homes, cars, and people. This along with diseases like Norovirus to now RSV attaching itself to the societal means and ways. Health was the second biggest expendenture nearly $1500 for every doctor visit.
I guesstimated that the Recession would come in October. I had spent 8 months looking for a new job and not finding one I made the decision to return to a former job. It would be less money but, I can manage better anyway. As it sits today I will end up having made $70K this year a full 10% more than last year.
Speaking of earning more that $1500 per doctor visit was because of the retail of medicine. Diabetic Medicine is now being utilized by the populace as a whole to lose weight, combat obesity and be healthier to a point. The flip side is how long can people afford a $1000 a month bill and the side effects if you don't take the medication which you have to take to maintain the weight loss.
Colon Cancer, Pancreatitus and Kidney disease are killing people in part because they are taking cosmetic drugs.
The Recession
Soft Landing, Hard? No Show Recession? Its coming. As I stated in January office buildings leases are down significantly. Real Estate brokers got tagged recently in fees. The Election is near. Even if the $55Million dollar retiree does lower interest rates in March or June the World Economy demands a recession. There are nation after nation with empty coffers, Artificial Intelligence is not the answer for generating economy and People still have to work at something.
Death
The planet is literally dying. The Earth's center slowed down or completely stopped. Heat waves and volcano's have intensified and the Winter is here. There are less butterflies, a group of Orcas have developed a peculiar specialized appetite that is unbalancing the pecking order of the ocean - Great White sharks livers. The deforestation is causing literal death to millions of animals and plants-Brazil, Colorado, Russia.
The regional wars are tempting the worst war. the war that is at the doorstep and the US is tenious to not answer it.
Yet, there is hope, rebirth, and faith.
2024 will be another opportunity to strengthen the infrastructure both financially and physically.
But 2023 is not done yet. I know because its got a vlog to do:)
