This is obviously gonna be more for manga readers but anime viewers can also answer based on characters they’re familiar with so far, please be a little vague in the notes when mentioning any later manga spoilers.

Yes the anime increased the level of fanservice (and Falin’s bust size) because of course they did, all anime is kinda trash in that way, it is inherent to the industry.
But the original scene in the manga is also erotic. The manga does differ slightly overall in how it tends to never portray the female characters in a way that caters to objectification and the industry typical male gaze. Which of course makes sense, given the manga was created by a woman. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t eroticism in many scenes.
Dungeon meshi is about desire. It’s about consumption. It’s about flesh and life and death. The manga is overall, Highly erotic. Of course fans are gonna pick up on those elements and build on them. The eroticism is a feature not a bug.
I wonder if the people who were saying that dunmeshi doesn’t sexualize any of the female characters and so fans shouldn’t make horny fanart about them have realized what show they’re actually watching now with the latest episode and Falin’s lovingly animated chicken breasts.

My new favorite genre of picture is a very special thing that most animals (and humans!) do: face nuzzling as an act of greeting/comfort/intimacy. thank God that this is happening all over the world right now

i have to say, interpreting laios as someone who’s completely not interested in humans is such a bad takeaway from him. it’s like people didn’t read the parts where he got so excited at anyone sharing his interest, or getting so deeply hurt by people who betrayed him. not to mention his destructive selflessness(“my pain doesn’t matter because falin suffered more than me”)
same as interpreting thistle as a fully grown adult and not someone with a teenage brain and body stuck in a thousand year arrested development, in a story that centers fantasy age dynamics and how it affects people. what a boring interpretation of the themes

AITA for jerkin' it to Goya's Black Paintings?
Emojis for convenience and humor: 🎨🖼🍆💦
I know someone's gonna yell bait about this but idc, like, what? Do you want proof? Video evidence? Grow up.
So I (30x) really like Goya's Black Paintings. Like, Saturn Devouring His Son, Duel with Cudgels, A Pilgrimage to San Isidro. I think they're hypnotic, beautiful, evocative. They make me feel emotions I can't quite explain properly.
As the title says, sometimes I beat my meat to them. Whatever. It's not really about horniness. But the intent doesn't matter.
Recently (in a discussion about sexuality in art, I promise it was relevant, similar sentiments were being shared) I mentioned to my partner (33nb) that I do this. They were pretty taken aback.
Apparently, they find this 'gross' and 'kind of dodgy' because Goya's black paintings were never intended to be shared with a wider audience. They were art that he did not mean to share, painted on the walls of his house near the end of his life. They say it seems like the work is too personal to jerk off to, that it seems invasive or like a violation.
I don't think it's a big deal. The guy is dead, it's not like his ghost knows what I'm doing. It's a good thing to consider, but I don't think it ultimately matters, ethically.
So, I guess AITA for this?

one of my favourite details in orv is that it says, over and over again, that free will definitely exists. your characters will become their own people beyond your control. your avatar will gain sentience and turn against you. the world is a novel and time is a circle but you made every choice that lead you here on your own. the only time fate comes up it is seen as a despicable violation, something forced upon you, and not an inherent part of reality

New discourse: it's actually predatory to date someone with a different star sign than you, because the differences in your personalities means you'll never be able to have exactly the same life experiences, thus leaving a knowledge and power gap between the two of you which will inevitably lead to an abusive relationship!
also if you're a Sag and you're dating a Taurus, that means you're secretly seeking a May-December relationship, which is age gap coded!

The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legends fade to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.
It hasn’t really ever occurred to me before how literal this quote kind of is. The series of course takes place in Third Age, and other events of the Third Age are memory - imperfect, distorted, with lots of lost detail, but mostly accurate. The Age before is the Age of Legends - everyone is heightened, twisted into awesome figures or primordial monsters, but a lot of the basic facts remain mostly true, recorded in ancient times. Then you get to the First Age, our Age. By the time of the books, things are totally distorted, the nuclear standoff between Russia and the US transformed into giants throwing spears of fire at each other, rocket ships transformed into fire eagles, centuries collapsed into nothing. It is fully the realm of mythology.
Memory to legend to myth, each in an age.
