no it's not "forced diversity", you just hate seeing minority leads.
I really didn't want to comment on this, but as someone who has recently rediscovered monster high and loves the new show, I've seen so much criticism that isn't exactly...constructive?
I've seen a lot of people say that making Frankie non-binary is 'forced', 'lazy' and 'uninspired', when that is just simply not true?? Let's unpack their character for a moment. They are made of a ton of different dead body parts, some male and some female. If you were to use the 'biology excuse' it wouldn't even make sense in this context -- they literally have male and female organs!! Also alot of nonbinary people feel as though they have lots of parts to themselves,, what better way to portray that than through a monster character struggling with the same thing? It's literally such a cool allegory!! Creators have been using magic/fantasy to describe/symbolise real world issues and feelings for ages,, why is it such a big deal creators do this for more marginalised people. [also,, the orginal Frankenstein creature was heavily queer coded in the first place so its a sweet easter egg).
I also see people say,, 'oh why couldn't they just have made a new character be non-binary instead of changing the pronouns of a former one'. I hate this argument so much because it sounds like it's in good faith, but really what they're trying to say is "stay away from my white cishet characters and go make one of the irrelevant side characters queer or or just make a whole new show starring them that I have no interest in watching'. Just admit you don't want to see queer characters as leads.
I also think that sometimes cishet ppl (or non-marginalised ppl in general but i've mostly been seeing an attack on the queer characters hence the example) forget that we also grew up watching monster high?? and related to the characters?? And we would be so excited if we saw our favourite characters with similar traits to us?? Like sheesh,, cishet ppl have so much representation like let us have this pls 😭 😭
Actually speaking of representation in Monster High, g1 was already pretty diverse and inclusive, and its nice to see g3 follow in its legacy and become even more inclusive as times change! Like, they really said 'fuck you' to all the conservatives and included a drag queen character, a non-binary main character, autistic side character and so many more!! It makes me so happy to see and its probably why its one of my comfort show rn amidst the rise of the anti-lgbt rhetoric, especially concerning children's media.
So respectfully, to all those people claiming that the new monster high is "forced diversity" --- fuck you xxx

As the youngest prince of the fae kingdom Aurora, Jongho didn't have as many responsibility’s as his brothers. He didn't have to worry about the crown that would soon be placed on his brothers head or about the expectations everyone had because of it!
No, he could simply be Jongho, at least until the winter came. Born a winter fae, it was up to him to bring the beauty of frost and snow to the mortal realm! He loved his season. It was where he felt the most comfortable as the winter came with a great boost for his energy and magic, making his fingers feel all prickly, excited to be properly released once more and giving his fingers a lovely sparkling blue hue!
While people at first glance thought him to be just like his season, cold and unapproachable, anyone who truly knew him knew that it couldn't be further from the truth! Soft like a teddy bear and endlessly devoted to his friends and family!
And then there was you. His beautiful bride to be and as a fairy of spring the bane of his existence! While there had always been a sort of rivalry between the seasonal fae, Jongho had a particularly strong sense of dislike for you. Being a springfae, you represented his one weakness! With the change of season, spring brought the gentle warmth of the sun, melting away the ice and snow and quickly replacing the cold the prince loved and lived for!
Short, he didn't like what you represented.
The fact that his parents had seen it necessary to arrange a betrothal between you and him when both of you were mere specks of sparkly fairy dust in the sun, did absolutely not help! It fueled his dislike with every try of his and parents to get you to at least be civil around each other. In your life, there had been countless times where two sulking fairy children were seen fluttering their wings at each other like angry birds trying to intimidate the other! He had found you greatly annoying, a sentiment you shared with him!
The prince hated the flowers that would appear seemingly out of nowhere all over the palace that seemed to have everyone charmed into liking you. He was seething at the sight of all the Carnations, Daffodils, Daisys and white blooming Camellias you left for him, knowing that he didn't bother to find out what they represented! They filled him with a burning warmth that he had never felt before in his life...
Huffing out a breath, Jongho watched the ice he had conjured up slowly engulf the little carnation placed on his pillow. Disdain crossed his face as he stared at it like it had personally offended him in some way before grabbing it to throw it to all the others into the threaded bin placed by his desk. The prince didn't understand why you kept leaving him these little presents when he had made it clear, more then once, that they weren't welcomed at all.
From sending them back to you, frozen and picked apart or just throwing them out wordlessly, he had made sure that you knew what he thought about it! It was do a point where even Hongjoong, his oldest brother and crown prince had sat him down to scold him about being incredibly rude to you and your feelings but it had just made him scoff and roll his eyes. What did his brother know about this, he had thought only to continue doing exactly as before.
Today however, he finally had enough! Without a moment of hesitance, he grabbed the flower filled bin, stormed out of his room down the hallway and into your room.
To say you were surprised to see him in your room was an understatement. Never had he seen it necessary to give you the time of the day much less actually search for your company or even recognize your presence! So to see your betrothed suddenly standing in the midst of your room while you were busy going over different spells you wanted to try for your upcoming season, was quite startling.
You opened your mouth, ready great him with a smile but Jongho faster. He emptied the bin on your desk, letting the petals fall out and give you a glare that had you frozen to your chair. The room suddenly felt a lot colder then just seconds before.
"Stop that!" he snapped and gestured to the pile. You looked down at it without knowing what to say. Usually you were always ready to match his snappy energy but seeing the withered flowers you had left him falling out of a bin left you speechless. They weren't ment to taunt him in anyway even if he obviously thought that, but more of a peace offering if not a message for him to read.
"I mean it y/n, stop sending me these stupid flowers! How many do I have to throw away for you to understand that I don't want them?" Jongho asked the hand that wasn't still holding the piece of furniture running through his hair and breathing heavy.
Something inside of you shattered at his words. To tell a spring fae that their flowers weren't wanted, could be considered as them saying that they didn't want you! Of course you knew that the youngest prince was  particularly phased by the gifts but you had hoped that by now, he had grown to like them a bit. It seemed that wasn't the case.
"Okay…”you exhaled with a slight nod of your head.
Maybe it was time to stop hoping and just accept things the way they were.
With a curt nod and one last scowl the man left you behind. Fingers gently touching a withered Camellia . Maybe it was time to stop waiting...
--------
The flowers stayed away. Nowhere in the entire castle were they found.
And Jongho hated it!
There was a cold falling on the castle that settled in his bones he didn't know how to feel about. Gone were the Daisys, Carnations and Daffodils and gone were the Camellias!
He didn't dare admit it to anyone, but he missed them and he missed you. Few had seen you since the encounter a few weeks ago save for Seonghwa and Yeosang your best friends and your missing presence had been greatly noticed!  Jongho was  confused as to why he suddenly felt so forlorn without you drying to annoy the living daylights out of him. It was almost boring now that he thought about it.
Instead of having your presence following him out into the gardens or the library or the dinning halls, you stayed away, giving him the space he had demanded for so long. Only that now he didn't want that anymore! Why didn't he want that anymore?!
The question plagued him to no end but his pride didn't want to acknowledge it.
"You seem to be deep in your thoughts, want to share them with me?" the deep voice of Yeosang ripped him out of his trance and his eyes flew away from the blooming fields of the palace garden.
The ethereal looking water fae eyed the younger carefully and moved to sit next to him. His transparent glimmering wings shone bright in the light of the sun.
"Don't look so surprised, you're not the only fae enjoying the warmth of spring!" he quipped.
Insulted by the mere suggestion of the other, the princes face fell drastically.
"I don't! And I have no idea what you're talking about!" he pouted.
"I'm talking about your mood that's been getting worse and worse. Come on Jongho, I know you don't like that I'm friends with y/n but I'm still your's, so talk to me?"
Yeosang watched Jongho play with his fingers, his wings twitching nervously.
The winter fae groaned in distress and looked at Yeosang. "Why do I feel like that?"
Yeosang raised a questioning eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
For a few seconds the only thing that could be heard was the chirping of the birds while Jongho thought about what to say. "I- I feel lost lonely, like something is missing but I dont know what or- "
"Or who?" Yeosangs cut in causing an affronted gasp from the other.
"What? No! I have everyone I need by my side!"
"But do you? Nothing changed?"
"Can you stop answering with questions? Seriously, I have no idea what you mean,"
Jongho rolled his eyes, orbs flickering ice blue for a moment. Yeosang held up his hands in surrender. "Just think about it, did really nothing change? Cause I think I know of some changes that could be the cause for all this brooding recently."
He hated that Yeosang was right in his assumption of that being the reason for his mood swings.
"Ahh, I see I've hit a nerve there!" Another glare at the water fae before turning back to the carnations blooming in front of him.
"Do you know what they mean? The flowers y/n left for you?"
It was embarrassing to say that he still had no idea what they meant and it was obvious to Yeosang that he didn't know. Years of receiving flowers and yet never had he cared nor thought about wanting to know about the meanings behind them! It was common knowledge that just like plant fairys, spring fairys used plants and flowers to deliver hidden messages but he always had thought of them as a taunt, never as a message.
"Maybe you should find out before it's to late. y/n is considering visiting the mortal realm this season and will leave soon..."
Somehow that information caused Jongho to freeze in horror.
No! You couldn't leave!  You were needed here! In this realm! In this palace! with hi-
The winter fae shook his head, hoping to shake this ridiculous thought from his mind. Why would he care if you left or not? He hated you, that didn't change even if he would like to have his flowers back!
"Well, what do they mean then? You were all talk already so tell me already!" he huffed, sure that he knew already what they meant. After all you did seem to have the same dislike for him that he had for you!
"You want to know? Really? Sure! Maybe we'll start with the Carnations since they're right here, let's see..." Yeosang tapped his cheek, mocking the other a little who fluttered his wings impatiently.
"Carnations, I think stand for fascination, the Daffodils mean respect, Daisys for faith and the white Camellias signify waiting..."
Okay, maybe he didn't know the meanings after all!
Fascination. Respect. Faith. Waiting.
Confused the prince stared at the flowers swaying in the wind. 4 Words he would have never thought to associate with you!
"You're lying to me!" he called the older out, causing a chuckle to burst out from him.
"Surprised to hear that y/n might not hate you after all?"
Jongho jumped up from where he was sitting. A sudden onslaught of anger coming over him.
"No you're lying to me! She doesn't think that highly of me! She's not fascinated by me and she sure doesn't respect me or have faith in me! Why would she? All i have ever been to her was dismissive! And what could she even wait for?" he whisper yelled, not wanting to alert any of the guards that were hovering in the distance.
"I don't know but the way you've been acting, you might never find out," The water fae shrugged and looked at him innocently.
Jongho rushed away, wanting to confront you about the nonsense your friend had spewed and frazzled him like nothing ever had in his life. However all he could find was a maid, also a fairy of Spring, cleaning your room but you were nowhere in sight!
"Oh, my prince! What can I help you with?" she chirped surprised.
"My fiance! Where is she?" he demanded hectically.
"The lady has left through a portal to the mortal realm not to long ago, your highness!"
The was knocked out of his lungs all of a sudden and before the maid could excuse herself he asked if what the water fae had said was true. The girl nodded. "Yes my prince, in general that is what these flowers are used to express this, however the Carnations are more common to tell someone they love them,"
With that she flew out and left his world standing on it's head! He sank down on your bed, slowly breathing to calm his franticly beating heart.
This couldn't be! You couldn't love him! It was just impossible!
And then all he could think about were the moments you had spent together! From childhood till now and every interaction suddenly seemed to shine in an entirely different light and the burning heat he had felt in all of them now felt much less like the hate he had thought it was and more like something equally as burning but much less negative!
But there was nothing he could do!
Now all he could do was wait for you to come back...

some changes
Tumblr media
Just a little heads up that Sif and Dug are both gonna be undergoing some slight character changes! Me and @shroudandsands talked extensively about their current dynamic and where we want these two to end up, and we both agreed that in their current form, Sif and Dug are a lot of fun, but it's not exactly good for them. We want to try and give them a more mutually fulfilling relationship by shifting their dynamic and creating stories that are not only fun to write but are also healthier for everyone involved, including our characters.
I’ll start with Dug. Instead of having two knives and a mysterious career, he’s now a free paladin and a sworn protector, especially of Sif. Instead of being the least willing participant in a battle, he’s now valiantly leading the van and fighting for all things good and right as the Warrior of Light. He’s not Mr. Perfect and he doesn’t do everything right, obviously. Cooking and cleaning are not his strong suits, but that’s why he has his lovely wife!! He loves her so much and he's so thankful he has her to take care of him after every battle, physical and emotional.
You can already see some of Sif’s more obvious changes too. Rather than a wandering alcoholic bard, she’s now an amnesiac practitioner of white magic and Dug’s most faithful supporter on and off the battlefield. She has taken a vow of pacifism and has sworn to never harm another in word or deed because she’s a healer (and that’s her husband’s job). Little does she know that she is also a Lightwarden who escaped Norvrandt through the rift, which is amplifying her healing abilities beyond what she would ever be capable of, but it's also slowly killing her each time she uses her magic.
Rather than constantly bickering, these two will now be actively supporting each other in a much more wholesome way. While Dug is making all the tactical decisions, Sif is making all of the more domestic ones, balancing their relationship evenly and playing into their natural strengths. They are loyal to their friends and especially to each other, dote each other before every dungeon boss, and if I write one more complete sentence of this, I will probably be found dead at my desk so this bit is over. I take no pleasure in knowing I wrote any part of this. Have a good one, y’all. 💕

My memory is terrible so I wanted to do a breakdown of my stuff every once in a while. Might be monthly, might be whenever I feel like it.
QL - Currently Watching
🇹🇭1000 Years Old [10/12] - This is dragging and I am incredibly bored.
🇹🇭23.5 [4/12] - This show is incredibly cute and I'm smiling through the whole thing. Aylin is my favourite and I'm hoping against hope for the teachers to become a couple. Make it happen gmmtv!
🇹🇭Deep Night [6/8] - The long shots are killing me but the story is moving fast. There's a surprising amount of good communication and the throuple is almost inevitable a this point.
🇰🇷Jazz for Two [6/8] - This is the first bl show where I read the source material before the show and I wish I hadn't. The changes that were made just don't make sense to me, because I don't see how it serves the story. But putting that aside, the story feels rushed and the pacing is weird. The second couple doesn't read believable with this time frame. Anyway I might edit this post when I watch the last 2 episodes. [EDIT] Completed. Final thoughts here. 🇯🇵Love is Better The Second Time Around [4/6] - Why must you do this again Japan? 6 episodes for this one? I'm not happy about this. This show is so good. I love how the mains communicate, not to mention they are beautiful to watch.
🇯🇵My Strawberry Film[7/8] - I have no idea what this show is about nor it seems does it. Do I care at this point? Nope, not really. Let it be over.
🇹🇭To Be Continued [6/8] - This is getting into The Promise territory and I'm not amused. Another one that is dragging and I like the second couple but they barely have any screen time. I'll finish it because there are only two episodes left but I'll be sprinting to the finish line.
🇹🇼Unknown [7/12] - It hurts so good. The songs were killing me this episode. I really liked the separation, I think it was necessary for them. Yuan seems more mature and it will be interesting to see how it changes the relationship.
QL - Finished
🇹🇭Cherry Magic Th – What a wonderful surprise this was. Tay and New are beautiful together and their chemistry was on point. I really liked how the source material was used here.
🇯🇵Cherry Magic Anime – It was quite faithful to the manga with only a couple of deviations and of course it didn't cover everything but I really enjoyed watching yet another version of these characters.
🇹🇭Dead Friend Forever – It was quite a ride. I specially enjoyed the communal watching of this one and all the theories as more people tuned in. Didn't love the ending but it was better than I thought. Still not over White though. 🇯🇵Although I Love You, and You? - Started great, the middle was meh, and by the end I wasn't invested enough in the couple so even though it ended happy, it didn't make up for the rest of it. 🇯🇵Perfect Propose - Great all the way through. I loved this characters a lot and still think it's amazing how well the time was used here. 🇯🇵Ossan's Love Returns - It's Japan at it's finest. Love, food, chaos, found family and cherry blossoms. What more can I ask for? 🇯🇵She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat - My heart grew.🖤
🇹🇼Anti Reset - This is one of the most frustrating shows I've watched in a while. This started off strange and most of the show doesn't seem to know what it wanted to say about the AI part of it. It drove crazy on a weekly basis. But I thought their chemistry was really good and they are just an adorable couple. These 4 VBL series [Stay By My Side, You Are Mine, Vip Only] were a mixed bag for me. I think Stay By My Side is my favourite overall.
🇨🇳The Spirealm - First of all, Ruan Lan Zhu is absolutely gorgeous and his outfits are always perfection. The visuals are really good. This was definitely not a cheap production. The sets for all the doors are incredible. Talking only about the game, I gotta say the second door was my favourite. The bromance toes the line, but I'm not surprised this was taken down. I think if they'd kiss it would be less obvious than some of their scenes. I'm not going to spoil the ending but if you're thinking about watching here's your warning. A bit after the halfway point it gets incredibly sad and the ending is just heart-breaking.
Dropped 🇹🇭A Secretly Love [3/10] 🇹🇭Kiseki Chapter 2 [2/6] Also haven't started Two Worlds because I'm waiting to know if I should bother. I'm experiencing a bit of Thai bl fatigue so we'll see.
Rose Watches OJBL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Takumi-kun 1: And The Spring Breeze Whispers (2007) - The editing is choppy as hell and it gets hard to understand the characters motivations. And the acting is not good. Yeah, not a fan of this one. Udagawachou de Matteteyo (2015) - This one is weird. I recently watched Life as a Girl so I admit that the comparison doesn't help this one at all. The idea is interesting but the execution is poor. There's a couple of scenes that are a bit hard to watch. In this particular story I think if we had a bit more insight to the characters motivations it would've helped me connect and feel more invested. In the end, for my particular goal it was fine I guess.

It's been a year of Rose this month. And it's been kinda great. It took me a while to get over my shyness here and I still feel intimidated but it's gotten better. The people in this space have been really kind to me and I appreciate it so much. Thank you so much for the space.
That's it for right now. As usual my ask box is open for gif requests and any other questions. Happy Easter to all who celebrate.
Have a good week💜

Cursed!Lord Oyster AU
Spoilers for all chapter's of A Mermaid's Tale!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this AU, Lord Oyster accidentally absorbs White Pearl's curse (NOT her power's, JUST her curse)— instead due to him clutching her pearl so dearly—because of this, when he returns from his voyage, seemingly unscathed despite the raw reckage and death of Abalone Cookie along with his entire crew, with a very odd smile on his face: almost like he knows something we don't, something has to be up. And because the curse seems to be fueled by rage, or the fact that it's supposed to be a Mermaids curse rather than a Cookies, his body takes the toll and he gets a serpent/mermaid half.
Which he hides via magic he also acquired during his curse. All of the rage he's been suppressing for decades comes broiling over in the worst way, and the leader of House Urchin has to deal with it before he's next on the chopping block. From a reclused, soft spoken Cookie with a humble heart—to a sadistic, conniving and unfeeling one filled with blinding rage overnight, Roasted Urchin isn't sure about the rumor's: or if he wants to believe them. The disappointment of House Oyster would never do something so vile as eradicating the entire Abalone House in cold jam in less than a day...right...?
___________________________
Here's some fun facts about him!
In Lord Oysters original concept, before he was even drawn or sketched out—he was going to be a harpy-like creature with wing's and a tail. But that was scrapped because I can't draw wing's to save my life, and it wouldn't make since considering he's from the land. I was supposed to represent how deep his curse went, but I opted for color pallette changes instead.
Though Lord Oyster can hide his serpentine lower half, he can't hide his hair changes or eye color. If you're wondering why no one questions it (except for Roasted Urchin Cookie)—it's because there too focused on the Abalone House's demise to realize what's going on.
He likes terrorizing House Urchin in his spare time—particularly Roasted Cookie, like little kid and his uncle fights but actually dangerous and sadistic.
He has a HUGE form, similar to Black Pearl! But he prefers to keep in his smaller one unless prompted.
Fiercely protective over House Oyster, and got more fortune than in the original timeline due to some.. interesting scheme's (killing other house's to get to the top faster so he could feed his family). He really does justify that one in his head.
When a family member of House Oyster reaches there 10th birthday, Lord Oyster meets them on the sea side and blesses them with his protection —this is why Oyster Cookie always had nannies up until that age, it's protocol. It's a family secret, and everyone see's Lord Oyster differently. But one thing that stays true: you can have faith in him, for if you have a pure heart, someone shall watch over you.
A “pure heart” just means like. An okay person since Lord Oyster brushes Oyster Cookies political game's off.
Lord Oyster gained the following power's from his curse:
Super strength (like. Throwing around ship's type strength)
Night vision
Sharp teeth...(not even a superpower but..teeth,,,)
Enhanced senses
Weapon summoning/water control
Immortality, can only die from unnatural causes. (He outlived his entire family ☹️..)

Juno's Point.
For the first time, Juno gets furious, - how dare this lustful bastard!? How dare he impose himself on the grieving groom, how dare he!? Isn't he the god of justice and honor, shouldn't he represent the highest morality!? Why is he acting so disgusting!? He did not save Jason, although for him it would have been as easy as asking a nymph to give him nectar - just one white-hot lightning and a vile chimera infamously enhanced by Hecate's magic would have been destroyed and Jason was alive.. But Jupiter never took care of his children, - Jason's death cry never sounded. This creature bit into his throat too quickly. She trashes their bedroom as when she found out about Beryl Grace's newly rounded belly and silently sits down amid the chaos she caused in a torn dress and with shaggy hair. The nymphs, timidly trying to restore order, run, flashing their heels when she screams at them. Soon everyone will find out that their sovereign seems to have taken a mortal lover again. Jupiter comes in amazingly on time, Juno is silent, just sits next to a broken mirror and combs her hair, Jupiter ignores her and just goes to bed. He is too busy fantasizing about the young body of son of Neptune, Juno would rather turn the boy into one of her peacocks than let Jupiter even touch him with the tip of her fingers.
For the second time, Juno is next to her mother. Rhea refused to change when the Roman Empire came, she remained Rhea, an endlessly loving and faithful mother of her children even when they became different. Juno is crying on her mother's lap, soiling her white linen tunic with tears, grief for Jason eats her nonexistent heart, she was so bad only when Jupiter hung her over chaos. maybe that's why the gods refused to fully love their demigod children? because it hurts too much to lose them. Rhea comforts her with her infinitely gentle voice and says that this is the truth of life, mortals are dying and they must accept it. Part of Juno's consciousness, with a touch of dark humor, draws a parallel between her and some mortal child who lost a pet for the first time. Jason was, in fact, her beloved, devoted and affectionate puppy. When she returns to Olympus, Jupiter greets her in their bedroom with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. maybe grief made her too sensitive, maybe she just longed for love, but this simple gesture melts her like snow in the rays of the sun in spring. They are entwined in a loving embrace in their bed as husband and wife, Juno prefers not to pay attention to his detachment, she feels desired again, and this dulls the grief and that's enough.
The third time, Juno looks and wants to intervene. Perseus is grieving just like her, the goddess is sincerely surprised that he is still alive. Perseus comes to work with trembling legs and a thick fog of pain in his mind, Jupiter is waiting for him as usual and Perseus pounces on any source of comfort. He asks for hugs, simple intimacy and warmth, but for Jupiter it's like a red rag for a bull, he kidnapped and possessed a mortal princess, just because she was swimming in the river where he saw. The wind roars, Juno feels anger boiling inside, no she won't allow it, no no no and once again no, let her husband pursue mortals, but leave Jason's grieving fiance alone. But to her amazement, Jupiter obeys Perseus, does not demand anything in return, there is not a hint of arousal in him, he does not crave his body. They hug, really just hug, - Perseus presses his back against Jupiter's chest, crying into the crook of his elbow, Jupiter presses his lips to the top of his head, his hands gently rest on his shoulders. It looks strange and gentle, pure, there is a strange closeness in them, a strange closeness, not like the closeness of lovers or father and son, but it is a tender and affectionate closeness, similar to love but not being it. Jupiter is not interested in Perseus as a beautiful body warming his bed or as a lover, Juno realizes, But he feels something gentle for him, while remaining loyal to me, a Perseus is still faithful and mourns Jason. Juno decides to give the son of Neptune his mercy, let this closeness with Jupiter comfort him. She would not harm him or the children if this strange union bore fruit.
Hey, hello! could you please rate and voice your opinion about my letter - beginner anon.
This is honestly perfect. I’m intrigued about the idea of a platonic relationship causing kids. The way Juno is protective of Jason even when he’s dead is so sweet

“Ah, could it be my dear Sprites turned into little mischievous Imps again?..”
Yuu wonders, observing a mysterious mirror which just appeared in the Main Hall. Princesses portraits look as magnificent as they always were, and the crystals above golden inwrought mirror frames seem normal.
She most certainly did not cast any wrong spells, and yet her magic wand starts resonating with strange energy waves coming from a new obscure mirror. Could it be that the princesses are in danger again?
∘₊✧─ And always remember, young lady… If they’d lost all their faith, you couldn’t be there. And there you are!
This is right. There’s someone waiting for her to make their dreams come true.
Yuu sees a hand in a welcoming gesture, a grip on her magic wand tightens, and she makes a step forward without any hesitation.
Every miracle takes a little time, after all.

The game dwells on Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog Disney movies. Actually there’s another game called Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey where MC enters The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Aladdin, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast Disney realms.
It’s implied MC knows the plot of the disney movies. In this work Yuu knows all the Disney movies existing up to today. I’ll also make a lot of references to not only listed but other disney movies too!  This is an original take on RSA and a great part of the fic will be devoted to RSA and its characters I created with the help of my dear friend. But NRC remains the crucial part of the story.
Yuu wields a magic wand, and it’s pretty much similar to the original game except for the fact I changed the design.
A lot of magic study! Yuu is quite a remarkable sorceress but she’s not imbalanced.
Yuu doesn’t remember her past, why and when she became the Fairy Godmother’s apprentice, but I’ll dwell on it as the story progresses.
And finally, I hope you’ll have fun reading this ^^ I may be slow with writing chapters but I hope I’ll manage to post one chapter per month!

The Beehive
Sacramento, California
February 5th, 1978
19:42 🐝
Napoleon looked down at the small brown business card. On the front in plain honey colored words were the address of the establishment. On the back was a beehive. That was it. Very minimalistic and straight to the point.
‘Interesting marketing strategy.’ Napoleon said as he passed the card over to his partner, Illya.
Tumblr media
Illya took a moment to take in the small yet fine work of art. ‘Hmm.’ Before he handed it back.
Once their cab slowly came to a stop by the curb, the two gentlemen thanked their driver and stepped out of the car.
They were immediately met with a beautiful yellow LED lamp screwed into the building; showing across their skeptical glances. The lights were shaped into that of a beehive with tiny twinkling yellow lights, resembling bumble bees.
Beyond those doors, beneath that heavenly designed neon lamp lay the disco highlife of the century.
Awaited by the door were two Gods amongst men. So tall they could touch the roof if they wanted, and muscles that could break bones. To the left and right of them were two separate lines, damn near wrapped around the building that were guarded by red rope.
Illya began to worry.
‘We’ll never get inside.’ He said plainly.
‘Do you not have faith my friend?’ At the flick of his wrist and a twitch of his fingers, the tiny invitation appeared in Napoleon’s fingertips.
‘More magic?’
‘Someone’s gotta like it.’ He smirked and leaned in, ‘Here’s the plan. We go inside, we split up, we listen. Try not to look suspicious please.’
‘Suspicious?’ Illya scoffed, ‘The only person here suspicious here, is you cowboy.’ Pointing at his partner.
Napoleon made a face and looked down at his fit. He was in a plain gray suit with a matching waistcoat, and a white crispy dress shirt and black dress shoes; his usual attire.
‘What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?’
Illya on the other hand, sort of fit the bill. With a brown leather jacket with a turtleneck beneath, dark colored slacks and brown dress shoes to match. Oh, and his signature gray beret sat atop his blonde head.
‘You look like you’ve come to work and not to have fun.’ He rolled his eyes at his unwarranted pun.
‘In all technicality—‘
‘Yes, I know now can we go inside please?’
‘Perhaps. Do you remember your alias?’
Illya rolled his eyes as he head fell back, ‘Yes. I am a migrant here for work. You are a Wall Street journalist looking to have a conversation with the legendary Queen of Disco.’
He had a little bitterness in his voice. Napoleon caught on to that fairly quickly.
‘If you’d like, we can always trade places?’
Illya made a face, ‘Trade places? I am afraid that wouldn’t work.’
‘And why not?’
‘Because…’ Illya stuck his hands in his pockets and turned away. ‘you’re too small.’
A scowl curled up on Napoleon’s face at the insult, wanted so dearly to call him a bunch of curse words but he just cleared his throat and followed his partner towards the bouncers.
Once the men stood in front of the bouncer, Napoleon handed him the card.
The bouncer eyed the card closely, turning it back to front then pulled out a skinny pen like contraption. He clicked it on and a purple light shined down on the brown sheet. Revealing a bumble bee and a +1.
His big brown eyes flickered up from the card to Napoleon then over at Illya which he sized skeptically.
‘Who’s this.’
‘Oh? This is a friend of mine. He’s never been to an American club.’
‘Is that right?’ The bouncer said as he clicked off his pen and tucked it in his breast pocket. ‘Well, this is the perfect place to pop that cherry. Enjoy fellas.’
Napoleon carefully took the card and placed it inside of his breast pocket, ‘Thank you.’ And both of the men walked into the club.
As the men walked in, they were blinded by the bright twinkling lights of the many disco balls that hang on the ceiling along with over a dozen strobe lights dancing across the club.
The place was bustling and busy like nothing they’ve ever seen!
Like a Beehive!
Napoleon gently bobbed his head to the music as his crazed blue eyes danced amongst the floor, watching as gorgeous women of all colors and sizes grind and move their hips upon the dance floor.
It appeared that this mission was the least of his worries but, who he was going to be sneaking out of here with. That was until Illya landed a smack against his chest, knocking him out of whatever silly daze he was entrapped in.
‘Ow!’
‘Stay focus, cowboy. We’ve come to do a job.’
‘Yeah but who said we couldn’t have fun?’
‘Not you. You get carried away. Try not to blow our cover.’ Illya added before walking away in his stern manner.
Napoleon rolled his eyes and reached in his pocket to activate his voice recorder. Then he made his way across the bar which wasn’t far from the entrance.
As he walked over to the bar, he gazed at the dancing patrons, greeting everyone who’d passed to see if he could spot this special lady.
When he stopped at the bar, he took notice of the bartender. A woman, standing at great height. Must’ve been those thigh high platform boots. She had her back turned, cleaning out some glasses. This way he could admire her as she did so.
She had a big, beautiful Afro and wore this leather black and yellow striped short dress that hugged and defined her curves. Maybe this was her?
He cleared his throat loudly, ‘Excuse me bartender!’
The woman looked over her shoulder halfway in a startle, before quickly placing the glass and rag down. She spun around to greet him, her Afro bouncing with each movement. She wore big golden hoop earrings that twinkled and shined everytime the lights danced in her direction.
She flashed him this darling smile, with eyes brown as chocolate yet so bright with happiness and warmth. She was to die for!
‘What can I get for ya’ suga?’
Napoleon’s lips parted to speak but he all of a sudden felt shy. Truly unlike him. A burning heat rose to his cheeks, ‘Hi uh—‘ he looked at her chest which revealed her cleavage but her name tag rescued him from staring. ‘Flo… can I have scotch on the rocks please?’
‘You got it baby. Any particular kind?’
He stared up at the gorgeous brown skinned woman, almost disregarding the question— he cleared his throat and blinked hard once he realized he was staring again.
‘No— no,’ he chuckled, ‘Nothing in particular. How about you surprise me.’ He raised a brow, his own warming smile curling on his lips.
The two stared into one another’s eyes before a giggle left her lips, her dimples puncturing into her cheeks much deeper than before. ‘Alright na. You asked for it.’ She pushed off of the counter and started on his drink.
Napoleon smiled softly before he spun around halfway in his stool and began to gaze across the crowd. After a short moment, he spotted his partner standing off by the stage. Illya gave him a gentle nod of his head before Napoleon returned it in acknowledgment.
‘Here’s your drink, sugar.’
He quickly turned around and met the woman with another smile, ‘Thank you. How much do I owe ya?’
‘Nothin. It’s on the house.’
He raised a brow, ‘Is that so?’ That caught him by surprise really. He had been drugged in all different forms before, so taking a free drink always made him skeptical. ‘Am I like your 100th customer?’
‘No. I ain’t ever seen you here before, I wanted to welcome you here. People who wait outside those doors seldom get inside; just having a little shred of hope to even spend a second inside of this place.’
‘Hmm. Must be quite the place.’
‘You don’t think so?’ Flo asked, placing her hands on her hips.
‘Oh! Of course I think so. The women here are stunning.’ He gave her a quick size before straightening up, ‘Look. I refuse to drink this by myself. Lemme at least buy you one too?’
‘And drink on the job?’
‘I’m afraid so.’
A smirk was plastered on Flo’s face as she internally battled with herself.
‘Tik tok, love. I could practically hear the ice cracking.’ He teased, tapping the face of his watch with his index.
Flo inhaled deeply and rolled her eyes, ‘Alright, fine.’ Her southern draw had slightly peaked through, ‘Only cause you’re cute though.’
Napoleon smirked as she turned around where his smirk quickly faltered and he looked over his shoulder once again.
Once she was finished making her drink, she turned to face him and placed her glass down. ‘Alright—‘
‘Oh! One more thing sweetheart, could you pass me a straw?’
‘A straw?’ She raised a brow. ‘You don’t look like the kind of man that drinks his whiskey through a straw.’
‘Well there’s a lot you must learn about me baby.’
‘Alright then. Ask and you shall receive.’
While she was fulfilling her end of this bargain, Napoleon swiftly swapped their glasses before she could turn back around.
‘Here’s your straw. What should we toast to?’ She asked as she lifted up her glass.
‘Actually, I don’t need the straw… I just like to watch you work.’ He smirked as he wrapped her large hand around the glass that just seemed so miniscule in his palm.
Flo giggled rolling her eyes, ‘You flirt with all your bartenders like this?’
‘Oh dear no! I’m a one bartender kind of man. Actually, let’s toast to that. You being the most spectacular and gorgeous bartender that’s ever graced my presence.’
‘I can get down with that sugar.’ The woman winked as the both of them carefully clicked their glasses together.
Napoleon brought his drink to his lips slowly, watching Flo take a big swig out of hers before placing it down on the counter. No side effects hit her immediately… but perhaps they shall later.
As Napoleon embraced the welcoming warmth of his drink, he placed his glass down on the paper towel that she’d handled him. The space between them grew quiet for a second before he looked up at her. ‘What can you tell me about the person who owns this club?’
‘Who? Queenie? Why you wanna know?’
‘I’m a Wall Street Journalist. I’m looking to write an article about her success!’
Flo looked down at her watch and turned around to grab a rag and clean off her countertop. ‘Well, ion know if you can tell but… Queenie got her work cut out for her that’s for sho.’
‘What do you mean?’
‘Well, her husband—‘
There it was. Exactly what he needed to further investigate.
‘Bought this place for her to solidify their marriage. I’ve been her friend for quite some time and never have I ever thought she would marry that grade A dickhead.’ Flo rolled her eyes.
‘Oh dear. What’s he like? How does he treat her?’
‘He worships the ground she walks on. But it often appears she couldn’t give less than a rats ass about him.’
‘Do you know how they met?’
‘She was singing in some lounge in Texas. That’s where we’re from.’
Napoleon was taking in all these minor details about this woman. He knew she would tell him everything he wanted to know… all she needed was a little motivation.
‘Right. And do you know what her husband does for work?’ He lacked the knowledge of that field, which was why he and Illya were here in the first place.
‘He owns a couple businesses as far as I know… i thought we were talking ‘bout Queenie though?’
Napoleon paused, ‘We are!’ He cleared his throat before taking a sip. He took notice of how she kept looking down at her watch, ‘Y’know the more you look at that thing—‘
‘“The slower time goes.” I know. But since you’re new here… it’s Friday Night.’ Her eyes glanced up at him.
‘Something special about Friday nights?’
Flo looked down at her watch one more time before a huge grin graced her face once more, ‘In fact… they are very special.’
Napoleon’s thick brows tugged into one as his face was written in incomprehensible confusion. Then, every light in the vicinity of the club shut off without warning. A few short squeals floated across the room in dismay.
Startled, Napoleon stood to his feet as he went into panic mode, afraid that he and Illya had been bested. His bright blue eyes fought desperately to adjust in the darkness. But in seconds, a sweet and groovy melody filled the air.
‘Baby, come overrrr.
Baby, come overrrr.
Baby, come over. Come be alone with me tonight.
Beehiiiive!!!’
A woman sang lewdly over the sound of the speakers.
‘Don’t be scared babies. Queen Bee won’t hurt you.’
Napoleon’s eyes had finally adjusted somewhat but he had yet to find Illya.
A big yellow spotlight shined on the stage revealing a band to the left and 3 back up singers who harmonized angelically. Three women with big poofy Afros donned with fresh flowers. They wore something similar to what Flo wore just instead of short dresses, they were flared pants; covered in black and yellow rhinestones.
They shined like stars on that stage.
Napoleon finally spotted Illya who hadn’t even left the spot.
‘All these emotions. It’s washing over me tonight.’
Once the room gained its groove back, Napoleon looked back to see that Flo had disappeared from her post.
He raised his brow in suspicion before he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. Illya.
‘I saw you flirting with the bartender.’
‘Don’t be ridiculous. I was gathering intel.’
‘And?’
‘She knows just as much as we do.’ Napoleon sighed as they both turned to look at the charade.
That was until this huge disco ball began to slowly descend from the ceiling.
The two men's lips parted in disbelief.
Eventually, she was revealed standing on top of this gigantic ball. She had this beautiful smile plastered on her face as she greeted the crowd with alluring harmonizing.
She almost sounded like a siren; gracing the masses with her deathly hymns.
But when he saw her face, there was no way she could be something so sinister and evil. She was… ethereal. An angel in disguise of a woman who could snatch the soul from any man who dared looked in her direction.
Napoleon was stunned.
‘How are we doing tonight my worker bees?’ She grinned as the crowd beneath her cheered with blissful enthusiasm. ‘Yeeeeah!’ She laughed happily as she continued to scan the crowd.
‘That must be—‘
‘Queenie Covington.’ Napoleon felt like he couldn’t breathe. This was fan behavior! She was not what he’d imagined her to be.
Both of the men watched the woman carefully descend from the ball with the help of her security guards. Her platinum blonde hair cascaded down her back like sacred waterfalls. She wore a bedazzled tank top, matching bedazzled light denim shorts and high metallic silver fringed boots.
She shined brighter than any star they’d ever seen.
Baby come over, come be alone with me tonight.
All these emotions,
It’s rushing over me tonight— AH!
Ride it!
‘What is the plan now, cowboy?’ Illya asked.
‘What plan?’ Napoleon retorted.
‘You don’t have a plan.’
‘You think I knew she was doing an open mic tonight?!’ Napoleon huffed as his pink nose flared with aggravation, ‘We’ll figure it out.’
As Queenie began to croon over that melody once again, the flashing lights glowed into this magnificent yellow hue causing her glow light gold. Her eyes were closed as she allowed the music to embrace and be one with her soul. And when her hazel eyes fluttered back open, her eyes cut across the room towards the two men at the bar who seemed to be bickering at one another. Though, that didn’t take her out of her sensual groove.
‘Look after her performance, she may come to the bar to have a drink.’
‘And if she doesn’t?’
Napoleon inhaled deeply, holding it there as he tried to think of something. ‘Then we’ll do what we always do.’
Illya knew that specific plan and a lot of the time it involved them both getting damn near getting caught.
‘Oh no. Not this again.’
‘Not this again? What choice do we have? She’s the only lead that we have on him. We must exhaust all options.’
‘Sure. Whatever.’
Baby you can hit this, don’t be scared.
(Baby you can hit this, don’t be scared.)
It’s only gonna get you high!
Baby come over.
The boys watched in amazement as the woman swayed and rocked her hips as her own hands made love to her own thighs, belly and breasts.
Queenie cut her eyes back at the two gentlemen back at the bar once again; particularly the one in the suit. He surely stuck out like a sore thumb. And most of her folks here were regulars.
That star struck glare in his eyes was also very telling. She always did enjoy seeing men gawk over her. So with a smile and a wink, she began to moan her lyrics.
Don’t you leave. (me)
Don’t you leave.
So use me. (Use me)
Pursue me. (Pursue me)
Kiss me where you bruise me. (Bruise me)
Oooh weee—
Taste me, the fleshy part.
I scream so loud, I curse the stars!!!
Napoleon gulped hard, reaching in the collar of his dress shirt and tugged at it as he felt his temperature rising.
Illya glanced over at Napoleon and smirked as he took in this canon moment. ‘Has Casanova finally met his match?’
Without taking his eyes off of her, Napoleon groaned, ‘Shut up.’
As she adlibed and add those heavenly high and lows, the song had come to a beautiful close.
‘Thank you.’ She grinned happily as the audience blessed her with a healthy applause .
‘Thank you so much everyone for coming. Being able to perform in front of an energetic crowd is always a true blessing. Please, enjoy the rest of your night sugars and stay groovy.’
They gave her one more applause as she brought her hands together in prayer and bowed in their wake. She then swiftly turned around to speak to her back up singers.
Napoleon narrowed his eyes, taking note of the smiling group of women. It was nice to know that she and those that worked with and/or for her got along fairly well. Then, she excused herself and went backstage.
‘Did you enjoy the performance?’
The two gentlemen jumped at the sudden voice, one that was familiar to Napoleon alone. They turned around to see Flo standing there with a knowing smirk on her full lips.
‘Where did you go?’ Napoleon’s head fell to the side.
‘Oh. I help engineer those pretty lights and what have you. Just some techy junk.’ She smirked and glanced over at Illya. ‘Who’s your friend here?’
Well, the story seems to check out. Though, he didn’t know why she needed to be so suspenseful.
‘This is uh—‘
‘Alex—‘ Illya looked over at Napoleon before looking back ahead at the bartender. ‘My name is Alexsander.’
Napoleon looked back at Flo who gave them both a strange glare. ‘Alright, Alex…sander. Could I get you a drink, sweet baby?’
‘No ma’am. I’m actually here for work.’
‘Well I think we may have something open for security… you sure do fit the bill though.’ A smirk curled on her lips as her head fell to the side. She was checking Illya out.
Napoleon raised a brow with a smirk as the two began to converse with one another. It was about time Illya blew off some kind of steam.
‘Flo, hey.’
Napoleon watched her walk up to the bar and pull herself onto the empty seat beside him. Thee Queenie Covington. Their whole mission, sitting not even a whole foot away from him.
“You are not to sleep with Mrs. Covington under any circumstances, Solo.”
Well it was a good thing he didn’t make promises.
‘Give me the usual.’ She added.
When Flo’s and Illya’s conversation came to a close, he and Napoleon leaned into one another.
‘Just start casual conversation. Perhaps she’ll give us everything we need.’
‘Not to worry.’ He pulled away and turned halfway in his seat, ‘Excuse me, Miss. Queenie I am sorry for the intrusion but—‘
‘No autographs right now sugar.’ She said in a hurry as Flo placed her wine glass in front of her.
This is a man’s world! This is a man’s world!
‘I’m sorry Miss. Queenie I’m not here for an autograph. My name is Napoleon and I’m with the Wall Street Journal. I’d like to honor you in our newspaper.’
She had brought her wine up to her full lips and took a long sip. ‘Mmm! Napoleon? Like the little French dude? You don’t strike me as a “Napoleon”.’
‘What do I strike you as then?’
But it wouldn’t be nothing, nothing — without a woman or a girl.
‘Hmm…’ her head fell to the side as her pretty eyes roamed all over his handsome features.
She breathed him in and my what a breath of fresh air he was. The colors and the lights that danced across his face only seem to enhance the shadows and curvature of his jaw, making his face appear more masculine. Then, every once in a while a yellow light would flash over his eyes, causing them to glow like high beams.
‘I don’t know… maybe a “Henry” or a “David”. Definitely not a short little man with a God complex.’ She giggled, her full lips pulled back to reveal that dazzling smile once more.
He chuckled as his head fell in slight embarrassment. He should’ve changed his damn name.
‘You know I’ve heard that before.’
‘I bet you have.’ Queenie smirked as she took another sip from her glass, ‘So, what is it that I need from me, Napoleon?’
‘I just want to ask you a few questions if you have time?’
‘Yeah, I sup—‘
‘Mrs. Covington?!’ A tall lean male came rushing over to the bar, carefully pushing folks out of the way.
Goddammit.
Queenie rolled her eyes and turned around to meet the gentleman’s gaze, ‘Oh dear, what is it now? I’m in the middle of something!’
‘Yes but it’s your husband ma’am.’
‘Oh? Is the fool finally dying? I’m having a meeting.’
Napoleon took notice of how her mood quickly shifted from something light and fun to something else when her husband was brought up.
Her attitude was so fierce and sharp, you could see how it cut and tore through the gentleman’s ego. Napoleon found himself smirking a little.
‘It’s… it’s important ma’am. He demands your presence.’
She stared up at him for a long moment before letting out a deep breath through her nose and shook her head. ‘Fine. Please just— give me a second to finish my drink.’
The male in all black bowed his head and took a step back to give the woman privacy.
‘Mrs. Covington…’
‘Dear heavens, Mr. Napoleon I am so very sorry. You’ve come all this way to meet me and I have to leave.’ She sighed once again before knocking back the rest of her wine. She was gonna need it dealing with that god forsaken man.
As frustrated as Napoleon was, he couldn’t step out of character so he just gave her a gentle smile.
‘No need to apologize, Mrs. Covington. Perhaps another day? Are you free tomorrow afternoon?’
‘I should be. Maybe we can have brunch. Since this is my screw up, on me.’
‘Nooo, no ma’am. I won’t have it, it’s just a minor inconvenience—‘
‘Are you telling me no?’
The woman stared at him with eyes that searched his soul. Digging in every nook and cranny to figure out who he was.
And to her surprise, he didn’t buckle or break. He wasn’t like most men it appeared. His gaze remained on hers.
‘I’m telling you not to treat me. I don’t think it’s fair.’
‘Hmm.’ She hummed softly as she smirked and stood from her seat. ‘Alright. Meet me here tomorrow at 11:45am. Don’t be late.’
‘You lack faith in me Mrs. Covington.’
Queenie raised her brow and began to walk away, her slightly swaying hips making a statement. Then she paused and turned halfway to meet his gaze once again.
‘Oh and Sugar?’ She called out over the swelling of the music.
But it wouldn’t be nothing— nothing!! Without a woman or a girl.
He blinked and lifted his chin in response to her voice.
‘Call me Queenie.’

The Riddle of Tom Riddle: Part 2/?
(Part 1, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7)
Voldemort Isn't Insane, At Least, Not in the Way You Think
Horcruxes and Dark Magic don't cause insanity and physical deformity the way Dumbledore implies, and I can prove it.
So, first Dark Magic doesn't make you go mad
So, first off, let's just set the record about Dark Magic not causing the changes in appearance we see in Voldemort and neither does it cause insanity. (I'm talking of run-of-the-mill Unforgivables here, I talk about Horcruxes more in-depth later in this post)
Now, what other character we can be sure practiced Dark Magic... Bellatrix, of course.
And, as a matter of fact, we do get a look at her before she goes to Azkaban:
The dementors placed each of the four people in the four chairs with chained arms that now stood on the dungeon floor. There was a thickset man who stared blankly up at Crouch; a thinner and more nervous-looking man, whose eyes were darting around the crowd; a woman with thick, shining dark hair and heavily hooded eyes, who was sitting in the chained chair as though it were a throne; and a boy in his late teens, who looked nothing short of petrified. He was shivering, his straw-colored hair all over his face, his freckled skin milk-white.
(Goblet of Fire, page 594)
She is clearly not deformed. None of the Death Eaters show any sign of physical changes to their appearance or behaviour due to Dark Magic in general.
the woman with the heavy-lidded eyes looked up at Crouch and called, “The Dark Lord will rise again, Crouch! Throw us into Azkaban; we will wait! He will rise again and will come for us, he will reward us beyond any of his other supporters! We alone were faithful! We alone tried to find him!”
(Goblet of Fire, page 595)
Bellatrix is sane and coherent before Azkaban. I believe most of her baby talk and more manic behavior we see in the series is caused by her time in Azkaban. While she was definitely loyal to Voldemort to a fault — she wasn't laughing maniacly in a baby voice like in Order of the Phoenix...
So, it isn't Dark Magic that made Voldemort snake-faced, so, maybe it's Horcruxes...
Second, Horcruxes don't make you go mad either
So, I talked about Horcruxes a bit here. But not about their effects on the person casting them.
So, let's try and trace the moments in time we meet Tom and count his Horcruxes. If his Horcruxes were indeed the cause for the change in his appearance, we'd expect to see a gradual change after each one in his appearance and behavior, if they indeed caused his insanity.
So, the first account we have of Voldemort is from Slughorn'smemory in 1943:
Half a dozen boys were sitting around Slughorn, all on harder or lower seats than his, and all in their mid-teens. Harry recognized Voldemort at once. His was the most handsome face and he looked the most relaxed of all the boys. His right hand lay negligently upon the arm of his chair; with a jolt, Harry saw that he was wearing Marvolo’s goldand-black ring; he had already killed his father.
(Half-Blood Prince, page 494)
As Tom is mentioned wearing the Gaunt Ring, we know this memory takes place during his sixth year, after he made the Diary and the Ring into Horcruxes already. (Why ask Slughorn about them if he already made two? Well, I'm gonna write a whole post about that don't worry)
But the point is, 2 Horcruxes in and there are no discernable changes in behavior or appearance. Harry actually describes him as very handsome, so clearly, he isn't snake-like yet.
The next time we see Tom is with Hepzibah Smith in 1956, the thing is, this memory doesn't give us much since it's before he killed her to make his third Horcrux, so we should expect nothing to change.
That then leads us to jump straight to 1967 and his job interview with Dumbledore. Between the talk with Slughonr about Horcruxes and this memory, Tom added 3 more Horcruxes to his collection (the cup, the locket, and the diadem).
So, we should expect to see a drastic change in behavior and appearance, and, well:
Voldemort had entered the room. His features were not those Harry had seen emerge from the great stone cauldron almost two years ago: They were not as snakelike, the eyes were not yet scarlet, the face not yet masklike, and yet he was no longer handsome Tom Riddle. It was as though his features had been burned and blurred; they were waxy and oddly distorted, and the whites of the eyes now had a permanently bloody look, though the pupils were not yet the slits that Harry knew they would become. He was wearing a long black cloak, and his face was as pale as the snow glistening on his shoulders. The Dumbledore behind the desk showed no sign of surprise. Evidently this visit had been made by appointment.
(Half-Blood Prince, page 441)
Tom's behavior throughout this interview isn't any different from what we've seen in his interactions with Dumbledore up to this point. So, I'll take that as a no, for Horcruxes causing insanity as he showed no sign of gradually deteriorating with each one.
And as for his appearence, yes, we see a change. But something about the wording bothered me. Harry referred to his face as looking: "burned and blurred; they were waxy and oddly distorted". This is a really off way to describe a face.
And it actually reminded me of a different description from Harry for a different memory:
And it happened all over again: The dense fog filled the room so that Harry could not see Slughorn or Voldemort at all; only Dumbledore, smiling serenely beside him. Then Slughorn’s voice boomed out again, just as it had done before. “I don’t know anything about Horcruxes and I wouldn’t tell you if I did! Now get out of here at once and don’t let me catch you mentioning them again!” “Well, that’s that,” said Dumbledore placidly beside Harry. “Time to go.” And Harry’s feet left the floor to fall, seconds later, back onto the rug in front of Dumbledore’s desk. “That’s all there is?” said Harry blankly. Dumbledore had said that this was the most important memory of all, but he could not see what was so significant about it. Admittedly the fog, and the fact that nobody seemed to have noticed it, was odd, but other than that nothing seemed to have happened except that Voldemort had asked a question and failed to get an answer. “As you might have noticed,” said Dumbledore, reseating himself behind his desk, “that memory has been tampered with.” “Tampered with?” repeated Harry, sitting back down too. “Certainly,” said Dumbledore. “Professor Slughorn has meddled with his own recollections.”
(Half-Blood Prince, page 371)
Memories can be edited and when they are, they become fogged and blurry. Slughorn's memory is clearly very crudely edited, but a master Legilemence like Dumbledore could surely do a better job of it.
Because Dumbledore has an agenda with all these memories, he needs to convince Harry to be ready to die to kill Voldemort — that's his end goal. And as such, yeah, he could reasonably edit Tom's appearance. As he seemed to have.
So, do we have a different source about Tom's appearance during the First War, because the next Horcrux after the diadem is Harry?
We do, Voldemort himself:
“Nice costume, mister!” He saw the small boy’s smile falter as he ran near enough to see beneath the hood of the cloak, saw the fear cloud his painted face. Then the child turned and ran away. . .
(Deathly Hollows, pages 295)
In this memory Voldemort shows mercy to a muggle child, not killing someone whose death isn't necessary — another point to him not being insane.
As for appearance, well, his face scared the child, but, it's hard to tell why. I'm sure JKR intended us to assume it's because he looked snake-like, but, again, no Horcruxes were made between the interview in Dumbledore's office and this scene, so he shouldn't be any more distorted. And while Harry's description in the interview memory isn't flattering, it isn't horrifying either.
Therefore, my assumption is that Voldemort is staring at this little child dressed like a pumpkin with the most impressive death glare the child has ever seen and this kid actually thinks, Tom is going to kill him. Which, well, it's a fair reason to be scared, I'll give him that.
His white hand pulled out the wand beneath his cloak and pointed it at the door, which burst open.
(Deathly Hollows, pages 296)
"White hand" doesn't say much. Tom was always described as pale and nothing odd about the skin texture is mentioned.
I'll add, that magically speaking, at least, according to the way I believe Horcruxes are made, it makes no sense for them to effect one's appearance and sanity negatively. Well, making them isn't pleasant, but they won't make you lose your intelligence and coherence.
So, what's up with Voldemort?
Well, I'm getting there.
For his appearence, my assumption was always that Pettigrew butchered the resurrection potion (when making a potion or alchemical concoction the mindset of the brewer matters. If Pettigrew was adding Nagini's venom without thinking of it as a soul component but as a body component, it can cause the changes in appearences we see). It can also be affected by the unicorn blood, which we don't really know the negetive effects of.
As for the insanity... When talking about insanity in fiction the conversation is sometimes very shallow. the word "insane" is just used to describe any character people don't understand, or that acts somewhat unpredictably. But if we look at insanity as a concept, as in a mental illness or delusions of some kind, they always have consistency. Both in fiction and reality.
Say, if a person believes they are a butterfly, they would always believe they are a butterfly. All their actions and behavior would stem from that delusion. We would expect them to try and drink from flowers, or try to fly — because that's what butterflies do.
Voldemort doesn't have that.
He doesn't have a consistent behavior pattern I could chuck to insanity and call it a day. No, Tom Riddle is a more complex character than that and I feel calling him "insane" is a cop-out from analyzing his character properly.
I'm gonna make a full post about it and what exactly is going through his mind, but I wanted to cover the insanity claims first.

I've seen it said on occasion that it was a refreshing change to have the Inquisitor be unable to persuade and change the minds of the characters around them, that the characters felt "more real" that a brief conversation shouldn't change their entire worldview.
This is bull.
First of all, no one asked for their entire worldview to change, just that they GIVE a little - argue with Vivienne about the merits of mage freedom, be able to point out that fear is learned as much as anything, that the fear of mages has been taught because mages are not allowed to be part of the world that the common folk experience, or even that her view of magic is not shared BECAUSE it comes from so lofty a position in society, as she is a First Enchanter, leader of the Loyalists, mistress to the head of the Council of Heralds. Or, here's one of my personal favorites, the vote to break away from the Circles may have passed by a narrow margin, but it still PASSED, and if Fiona had refused to accept that, she'd have faced a hundred minor revolts instead of a singular organized one, which would have meant that the few who went around, burniating the countryside, would be seen as representative of them all, while have an organized structure to the rebellion allowed them the ability to disavow bad actors.
It's asking Sera to acknowledge that there's more nuance than her definitions of the world offer, or countering to Cassandra that, particularly if she intends to take a position of top authority in the Chantry, she needs to be able to look beyond its dogma and realize that to those who follow a separate faith, the Chant of Light is a herald of death, an omen of doom, because it refuses to allow any who follow a separate faith. It's telling Solas that the Dalish have been forced to build their history from tattered scraps, and rather than condemn them for what they lack, he should acknowledge and appreciate what they've recovered with no more than a vague notion of what the original picture looked like.
Y'know, it's asking to be able to actually ARGUE with these characters, rather than be lectured to by them about how THEIR views are the only proper way to view things, even if those views fly in the face of our experiences as the players, or even just how we roleplay a singular character. BioWare tries to talk up a stance of grey morality and a desire for the answers to be more than black and white, yet here in Inquisition, you ONLY get their stance, and, if you don't agree with it, you are dismissed - which also causes a lot of problems with something like the approval metric, where if you DON'T agree with a character, you'll never manage to unlock their full content - I am generally rolling a male Qunari Inquisitor, and yet I have, in over a dozen characters, only ONCE managed to obtain the rooftop cookies scene with Sera. If you don't get these scenes of character development, then you don't get to have a full view of a character.
And then there's the second and bigger issue - With most of the characters being various flavors of Andrastrian, with most if not all of them buying in to the narrative of the Inquisitor as the Herald of Andraste, a position that is borderline messianic within their religion, why do they NOT listen to the words that the Inquisitor says? If Skyhold becomes a place of pilgrimage as Cassandra notes in the arrival at Skyhold scene, if the Inquisitor is a voice of authority in Thedas like everything the game tells us, why SHOULDN'T their words carry weight, especially with the people closest to them? Why is the Inquisitor NOT persuasive to the people who know them when they believe through much of the game that they have been touched by a divine figure?
It doesn't make sense for the Inquisitor to lack in persuasive ability when the whole game is about how they have become a powerful voice and figure within the world.
So, no. It is NOT a good thing that the characters effectively brush off any attempt that the Inquisitor makes to argue with their stances.

Day 6: Spine
By the time Luigi was able to leave the castle again, the town square seemed to have changed entirely.
The square was its usual mix of people, of course: Koopas, Shy Guys, Goombas, Spinies, and other miscellaneous species that -before- he only saw as soldiers. He now knew better, but their presence wasn't the problem.
Mostly, it was in the way he is almost always stared at, regardless of whether or not they were friendly. To him, there seemed to be a sea of eyes that pinned him against the cobblestone. In reality, he's sure they are simply glancing at him, but...
His guards have also become fussy now, especially as two more were added to the group (Ashton and Flambo, a Lakitu and a Hammer Bro) to make his visit hard to ignore.
It made his skin itch.
He wanted to sit by the water fountain, but -looking at the crowd of people enjoying the area and knowing how twitchy the guards would be- he settled for the next best thing:
A stone bench set under a roof overhang.
Even though Luigi had been able to settle down, he couldn't quite let himself relax...
He doesn't need to look at the notebook tightly clutched against his chest to figure out why. Not when he knew that the information inside was something that might make or break the Koopa Kingdom’s economy -maybe even their faith in Bowser, after….
After.
Still, the staring was minimal as the gawkers seemed to be just as quick to look away.
It was enough to let himself relax against the smooth bench, the guards forming a loose perimeter around where he sat.
It felt… peaceful despite the crowd. The bubble of protection and the surprisingly comfy stone made it easy to let the white noise immerse him, let him close his eyes and bask a bit in the noon time sun.
It felt like a nice day for a nap…
Hacktor was an old Koopa, old enough to have watched his children have children, and then for his grandchildren to finally leave the nest of their own parents.
It also meant that he knew his grandchildren well, especially in a family of miners.
Hackson, who has carried the Hack-name with pride, was a Koopa of action -driven by emotions, mostly, but a good lad. He was the Koopa who listened to people’s problems, maybe lend a hand or even direct them to someone who can.
And then he nearly murdered someone.
An IMPORTANT someone.
It was bad enough of a scene to drive an angry mob to track him, and it was only a blessing that none of Hackson's immediate family members were there to witness it (or, stars forbid, intervene).
He wouldn’t say it was as much of a blessing to come home to an inconsolable daughter and second son-in-law who have heard the news of his painful death.
No parent should be outliving their children. None.
Privately, he thinks they are still in disbelief over the fact he tried to kill someone twice.
They were still in mourning when Hackson felt the need to visit the town square, hoping to get ingredients for a soup that would hopefully keep them fed (since they weren’t in any condition to cook).
It was high noon when he saw him: the green human.
Well, maybe not so green at the moment. Instead, the man was wearing a black assemble that seemed out of place among the colorful array of people that happily wandered the square.
It wouldn’t be out of place from a funeral….
It’s what made him stop in his tracks, basket clenched in one paw as he looked closer at the human.
He was asleep, thankfully unaware of his presence, but his outfit wasn’t the only unusual thing about him.
There was a black notebook loosely held in his lap, stamped with the Royal Seal and holding a blue shimmer around the cover. Enchanted, probably, and likely important for political reasons.
There wasn’t a sign of bandages around his torso, so either they were under his clothes, or there was magic involved. Considering how the human nearly bled to death… well, Hacktor can see the necessity.
There was a group of four guards around him this time, visibly casting worried looks at their charge, looking around all steely at anyone close to their perimeter, and back again whenever the man shifted.
He would say that, out of everything, the guards' behavior was the most unsettling- not because of their worry, but how they seem to expect trouble. Almost like paranoia, except they clearly valued their charge more than their own safety...
He wonders if the king had something to do with it.
Hacktor couldn't say what exactly had driven him to approach, but the way three of the guards instantly grouped in front of the human almost made him second-guess that urge.
"Halt!" The Hammer Bro seems to be the leader, or at least the most aggressive of the four Koopas. "State your business!"
"I wish to talk with the human."
The soldiers clearly didn't like the request, but the Troopa that lingered behind reached over and -gently- shook the sleeping human's shoulder.
"W-wha--? Dagby, is it time to-" He catches sight of Hacktor, stiffening in his seat as the notebook was pushed into his chest.
"He wants to talk to you, Luigi."
The human -Luigi- looked nervous, and Hacktor almost expected him to decline-
"Okay."
Before throwing his and the soldier's expectations out the window.
"A-are you sure?" Hacktor didn't see which one asked him, but a nod from the human had them part for the elderly Koopa anyway.
Now that he's here, standing in front of the human... Hacktor wasn't quite sure what to do.
"Um," Luigi scoots to the side of the bench, patting the other side awkwardly. "You can sit -only if you want, of course!"
He seems to be just as clueless.
Still, you don't look a gift horse in the mouth, and Hacktor's knees aren't what they used to be, so he takes the seat with a "Thank you".
However- "Aren't you afraid of having a stranger walk up to you?"
"Not really?" The human's blue eyes shone trust brighter than a mining lamp, and it takes every fiber of Hacktor's being to not have his jaw drop at the answer.
It's even harder to speak, but now that he's here-
"I want to know how he died. My grandson, that is."
Hacktor stiffened in his seat as the soldiers seem to whip around, suddenly fingering their given weapons, and Luigi-
"H-hold on!" He's gesturing at the soldiers, stopping them from getting closer. "Just- hold on! I-" He mostly seems to hold eye-contact with the soldiers, leaving himself open to the elderly Koopa as if-
"I don't think he's here to- to-" His hands tremble though, enough for the 'Dagby' fellow to step forward in concern.
Still, Luigi audibly takes a calming breath, letting his hands fall back into his lap. "Just- let me hear him out?"
Again, the Koopas present (him included) are sent into a stunned standstill that lasts for just over a minute. It's only when the Hammer Bro steps back that the rest follow suit.
"Th-thank you..."
Looking back at him, Hacktor could help but see the way emotions flashed across the human's face -sadness, horror, guilt- but not see a trace of fear even as the soldiers give them space.
...He’s got a spine, this human.

Wish review cause I've got stuff to say
Do not read if you have not seen the movie and don't want spoilers. Also you don't have to read if you uncared about my opinion I just have words to say about this movie but I am not saying anyone has to have the same opinions as me.
So first point. Storyline.
I felt it was to...rushed like everything happened so fast from Asha finding out the truth to her wishing on star, revolting and then the ending. It felt very rushed and it was hard to feel any stakes or tension, didn't even get a real feel for the characters. Like Enchanto gave us the slow stake of the house and the magic slowly fading and breaking. Same with coco and him finding his relative that will wish him home while letting him play music.
Even little mermaid did a better job of storyline of Showing Ariel and her interests, her meeting Eric, saving Erica, meeting Ursula and then the whole three days to make Eric fall for her.
A rushed storyline brings me to the second point. Characters. Now I liked Asha but I didn't really get to KNOW her. All I know of ashamed is she's caring, can draw and has alot of faith in people and their wishes. Which is wonderful...but that's all I got from her. With Miguel we know he's mischief, loves to play music, fast runner, overly friendly and stubborn. With rapunzel we learned she was innocent, naive, artistic, a jack of all trades, curious and anxious.
Asha kind of felt like snow white or Aurora, there just wasn't much to her.
I also felt magnifico revealed his true colours really quickly to a girl he didn't know very well and didn't trust. I mean she wasn't even his apprentice yet and he outright told her that not all the wishes got granted and majority of them float around. Like...why? Why did he tell her that when she didn't even work for him yet or show any reason for him to trust her with this information. Hell the whole movie wouldn't have happened if he HADNT said anything
Speaking of Magnifico, I didn't mind him as a villain. He reminded me of Ernesto from coco and maleficent. And I understood what he represented, at least in my eyes this movie showed alot of toxic relationship and toxic manipulation method and techniques. Such as magnifico telling and expecting the people to just listen and follow him blindly just because he does his duty as their king
'I let you live here for free and don't charge rent, I clean up your messes, I give and give and give and all I ask for is respect' sounds alot like how toxic parents manipulate their young children as well as toxic spouses.
Ashas friends were also not very flushed out as characters, I barely remember their names except for dahlia. The other friends I only remember from their main trait, guy who sneezes, the quiet girl, the chill out guy, the short angry one, sad Simon and one more girl I don't remember. The friends only showed up for short times and we just didn't learn much about them
And one more thing, the MUSIC. Like...Disney.. come on. I found none of those songs or music pieces as catching my attention. This is a company that gave us hellfire, part of your world, let it go, every song of coco, we don't talk about Bruno, we are the three caballeros, kiss the girl, be a man, son of man, two worlds!
Also, the ENDING! I took two morals from this movie. How to spot toxic relationships and when to leave (this from the people and especially the queen who once she realises he is no longer the man she loves and he won't change and is hurting people. Stands up to him even though she LOVES him) and the second being 'don't rely on others to make your dreams and wishes come true' wonderful! Yes accept help to make your dreams come true but don't rely on others or give up.
But then...THEY GIVE ASHA A WAND?!! so that SHE can grant wishes?!! WHAT DID WE JUST LEARN!!?! yes I know asha would do a fairer and better job but...but COME ON!!
But now the GOOD POINTS
I liked the animation at first it was odd but that's because I'm not used to the style. But it was still lovely and the effects with the magic especially the wishes and the forbidden magic was fantastic.
The concept. The idea of someone realising that their beloved King is actually misusing and betraying them is a very nice idea and I love the idea of showing kids how to spot this kind of manipulation from adults they are supposed to trust.
I also loved the concepts of Wishes. Of the people feeling joy and wonder and love when they got their wishes back into their hearts and them feeling a horrible feeling when the wishes were crushed.
All in all. I feel the movie was rushed, and they should have waited longer and put more time into it rather then rush it out for the 100 years of Disney.
But that's just my view, would love to hear yours ^.^ (but no hate on anyones views or ideas)

Things that were missing in the School for Good and Evil movie
So, I have seen people comment on areas from the School for Good and Evil movie that failed to hit the mark, and I wanted to chime in some of my own thoughts:
What was up with the blood magic? I have only read the first book (I'm slacking, I know), but there was no mention of it, from what I recall. If anything, they have regular magic, which would have worked much more effectively. Plus, we were robbed by not seeing Agatha's finger glow being golden, nor Sophie's, which was the iconic color of hot pink.
Lady Lesso, I'm sorry, did not strike me as being evil enough to be a professor at the SCHOOL FOR EVIL. Also, what was up with Dovey? Her character gave me mixed signals: was she truly good or shallow like the rest of the school for good?
I love that they got Sofia Wylie to play Agatha, she did well with what she was given. Having this character be represented as a POC gives an extra layer of nuance. However, I am concerned with how they pushed Agatha aside to give Sophie more screen time. Many fans also have mentioned the treatment of Agatha's hair during her time in the school for good, while also talking about how the character is not meant to be conventionally beautiful. But given that the choice to cast Agatha as a POC yet to give her less screen time has implications that I wanted to showcase.
I liked how they did the wish-fish scene as it remained pretty faithful to the book. However, I wish they included some more scenes that were so impactful for Agatha and Sophie's character arcs. Some of these scenes include: the Circus of Talents, Sophie killing the swan, Sophie drowning the beast for cutting her hair, Agatha smiling for the first time and realizing her own inner beauty/self-worth, Agatha accepting herself and coming to terms with her own goodness. These nuances are what make the book great, and it is a shame the film didn't include them.
WHERE WAS THE RANKING SYSTEM?!?! Yes, they mentioned the fact that three failures would lead to an expulsion, but the rankings helped develop Agatha and Sophie's growth. They didn't fit the mold right away, both earning 1's at the start. But once they took control, they quickly became the top student at their respective schools.
The beginning had good action, but why reveal the biggest mystery in the entire book? Doing this made the story bland, they should've kept the original pacing.
Speaking of original, why remove the fact that the village is aware of the school? This added a whole layer of meta commentary as the town folk quickly realize that they cannot leave beyond the forest, and that if every fairytale starts at a village, then they are that village. This is why two children are taken every four years -- leading to preparation to protect the village kids and the iconic opening line of the book.
Also, removing the fact that Sophie became friends with Agatha only as a "good deed" is a disservice to both of their characters. This should have never been changed.
It feels like the movie is dead-set on showing how morality isn't black and white. Which, to be fair, is a good take, but the book already addressed this in a much more nuanced fashion. In the book, it is known that each person has a certain percentage of good and evil within them. Those that have more good are sent to be heroes, whereas those that have more evil are sent to be villains. Yet, Agatha and Sophie are different because they are the only ones who are 100% on one side: Agatha is 100% good whereas Sophie is 100% evil. This, to me, is much more nuanced because it establishes the fact that everyone can be both good and evil. Yet, those who are purely and entirely good DO exist, and when they are around, beauty and peace follows. At the same time, true evil CAN exist, and when left unchecked, can be dangerous for all.
Talking about the percentages, this is why Sophie and Agatha have a story being written about them in the first place. The film briefly states how the Storian doesn't write a tale for everyone, so the fact that it begins writing about the two of them is rare and sets in motion their tale. But the reason why it does so is partly because of Agatha being 100% good and Sophie being 100% evil, which is never addressed, thus it doesn't have enough impact in the film.
The romance between Tedros and Agatha was okay. I liked how the two had a earlier connection, but it was missing the spice of the enemies-to-lovers trope while also having no room to grow. He just likes her because "she's different," but it's never shown. Both characters seemed pretty bland as the film went on, which truly is a shame.
I wish they gave more time for the coven to interact, as well as establish Sophie's planning for a Nevers Ball. In the film, it just sort of happens without establishing the fact that only Evers have had a ball. It was also such a great twist for Sophie's actual plan to turn the school upside-down morally.
Sophie should've been more corrupted. Having wrinkles and white hair doesn't compare to the book version in which sHE LITERALLY BECOMES BALD AND FRAIL! She honestly should have looks like Smeagol from The Lord of the Rings to show how deeply a nemesis affects a villain and how evil can truly corrupt.
Talking about evil Sophie, where was the confrontation between her and Agatha? Where she nearly kills Agatha due to her hatred for her? Where she gets Agatha to slow dance with her, leading to the heroes attacking a "defenseless school?" WHERE WAS THE MOMENT WHERE SOPHIE'S PLAN LED TO TEDROS ALMOST SHOOTING AGATHA WITH AN ARROW?!?! This scene could've been as poetic as it was in the book.
The kiss between Sophie and Rafal was okay, but I wish they were more artistic with it. The movie focuses way too much on true love's kiss that they neglect the fact that this kiss be shared between two villains became a true hate kiss. In the book, Sophie describes the feeling as being horrible and wicked, and it's something that I feel the director could've played with in order to show how twisted evil's kiss truly can be. We have always seen a true love's kiss in media, but never a true hate kiss. This was definitely a missed opportunity to be sure.
What was that ending?! Honestly, this film feels like Netflix just flipped through the book, sniffed its contents, and figured that was enough for a movie. It’s giving corporate vibes and it shows. To me, the ending feels a bit sloppy and it doesn’t set things up for a sequel the way the book does where our protagonists leave abruptly through a magic portal after Agatha kisses Sophie. Nothing is truly resolved, making for a good transition to book 2. In the movie’s ending, everything feels pretty resolved, so it may be hard to get a smooth transition for a sequel that is believable.
Finally, this should have been a series on Netflix as clearly, two and a half hours isn't enough to address all of these little nuances that make the book so great. If they could do it with Bridgerton, they certainly could've done it with The School for Good and Evil.

Soul Mates: Part Two
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~1.9k
Summary: A man is accused of rape and kidnapping in another state, so he moved across the country to get away from those allegations. Now, the same thing is happening but this time, it might very well be true.
Warnings: canon violence, canon language, canon talk of death, methods of kill
Author’s Note: I do not own anything from Criminal Minds. All credit goes to their respective owners. If there are any warnings that exceed the normal death/kills from the show, I will list them. If you’ve seen the show, then it’s the same level of angst unless otherwise stated
Tumblr media
x
On the way back to the station, you informed your team there of the news that there is a partner. Spencer immediately goes to work on trying to decode the messages on Will's computer. He's using two different colored markers to determine who said what, but to everyone else, it looks like gibberish.
"Spencer, tell me you found something on his partner," you ask when you walk back into the station.
"It's all so cryptic. They wrote a cluster of others right after the first victim, Kim Groves, was killed."
"We need to figure out how they met. There's gotta be something in all this about their courtship," Derek says.
"It all seemed so hopeless, but I finally learned to rise above it," Spencer reads. "It sounds like William confessed he was feeling incomplete."
"He was. He didn't start killing until he met his soulmate."
"Faith should never be broken." That's another line from the journals. "The longer they got away with it, the stronger their relationship got. Sounds like these two aren't just obsessed with rape and murder. They're addicted to one another."
Jeff and Hotch return back from the crime scene you were at. You were eager to get things moving along which is why you got here before they did.
"We could have saved her," Jeff sighs.
"There were no signs of his having a partner until now."
"I guess that's why he's so cocky."
"Well, his arrogance is typical of a dominant personality. He's found a submissive who's willing to kill for him. We found bite marks on Missy. Will didn't do it, the partner did, and he's white."
"They never did that before," Derek says.
"Well, with William out of the picture, he's changed his behavior. Maybe the partner went back to something that's comfortable, something he's done before. I've got Garcia checking dental records against other cases."
Rossi and Derek walk back to the interrogation room, and you quickly follow them to observe their talk with Will.
"The D. A. was ready to charge him when Missy was still alive. How the hell are we supposed to keep him now?"
"I'm surprised you're writing all this stuff to a fella," Rossi says when they walk inside the room. "It sounds like you have a real special thing going on."
"I mean, I'm thinking if the two of you had just got it on, maybe these women would still be alive," Derek shrugs. "So, where'd you meet him? Chat room? Porn sites? Gay bar? Whoever this guy is, he's looking out for you and cleaning up for you. Missy Dewald is dead."
"Has he called yet? Lee Jarvis, the D.A., I mean. I saw his name on the warrant. He's got the best conviction rate in Florida. Do you know why?"
"I wanna know why your pen pal killed her when he could have let her rot," Rossi glares.
"Jarvis doesn't like to lose. He's not gonna ruin his record over this."
Will refuses to talk about his potential partner thinking the D.A. is going to get him out of this one. However, your team is going to do everything they can to lock this bitch up.
"Wow, this friend of yours wants to please you badly, doesn't he? He's protecting you, doing whatever he's gotta do to make sure that you're innocent. He killed Missy so you could be together again. It's only been a few hours, but he misses you."
"And you've gotten what exactly from all this?" Will asks in a bored tone.
"Proof that someone out there is just as sick as you."
Penelope works her magic and gets results from the bite marks left on Missy. The dental records don't match Will but they do match a reported rape in Manatee County earlier this year. The teeth marks belong to the same person, but they've never been arrested so she can't cross-reference. Connie Mayers is the victim of that rape, so if you're going to have any hope in figuring out who this is, then you have to talk to her.
Emily and Hotch went over to her job as soon as they got that information, but she wasn't too happy about it. No one else knew about what happened to her, but your coworkers did their best to keep it discreet. She works at a flower shop, so Emily bought some flowers as she asks her questions.
Connie's attacker knew what he wanted like he was confident in what he was doing. Connie thought he was a control freak. He wore a mask but she could tell he was shite, proving what you saw using Missy's energy. The partner choked her which took a long time for the bruises to go away. It's not as bad as the bite marks which are just scars now.
"Connie described an anger-excitation rapist just like William," Emily says when she and Hotch return. "We're looking at two dominant personalities."
"It makes sense. They have a similar discourse. They're equally well-written," Spencer says. "It's rare in criminal partnerships. If their personalities are the same, their lives probably mirror one another's as well."
"Harris goes to church, he's on the board of the PTA, he coaches his daughter's soccer team, and he rarely drinks."
"He sounds like a saint," Jordan says.
"With a dark side," Hotch adds. "That's what he connected to in his partner. Prentiss and I will go talk to the family and see if they know who it might be."
Emily and Hotch leave but you stay behind to help Spencer.
"Two alpha males won't be easy to break," Derek says. "The partner is definitely following the investigation."
"Let's do the talking for them," Rossi suggests, holding up a newspaper.
"I think a chatroom might be better. It sounds like they do most of their talking on the computer, but I like where your head's at," you say. "Plus, it's quicker."
"Why would he read it? He knows William won't be writing," Jeff says.
"These men are addicted to each other. Right now, he needs a fix, and the words they've shared are all he has to cling to. His partner wrote 'Faith should never be broken'. A betrayal could devastate him."
"All we have to say is that William's cooperating and then hopes he takes the bait."
Derek and Rossi give you and Spencer some time to come up with something you hope will catch the partner's attention. It's not easy, but you have the journal entries they've already sent to each other. All you have to do is work with the words and language they've already used.
"What have we got so far?" Derek asks after an hour of working.
"We were surprised that you injected yourself into the investigation. You risked a lot in order to help William," you read what you have. "Killing Missy tells us how close you really are. It must be devastating to learn that William is here with us."
Spencer doesn't like what you've come up with in fear the partner will retaliate.
"He's not gonna like that. It sounds like William's cooperating."
"That's exactly what we want him to believe so he'll doubt their alliance."
Derek and Rossi use this information on Will, and you follow them so you can pay close attention to Will. You can talk to Derek and Rossi through the comms just in case you notice something off about Will. After they tell him what they've done, Will just smirks in thought.
"What's that smirk for?
"Sharon is posting bail. I'm thinking about where to go for dinner. Maybe we'll go to Salvatore's."
"Rossi, play it off as if the partner is the alpha male. It might set him off," you say.
"You know, maybe we got it wrong. Maybe they're not both alpha males. The partner made the first move. He's the one with the balls."
"Yeah, and it was pretty risky, too. Think about it. What if you did turn in here? Or at least your partner thought you turned in here, hmm? Then he'd have no choice but to turn himself in. Your lives would be ruined," Derek adds. "That's the reason it works. You both have everything to lose."
"He's only cleaning up because he can't afford to get caught either. Am I right?" William doesn't answer. "How is gonna react to the entry we wrote? He knows we're reading your little love letters, so we decided to send one ourselves and let him know you're in here helping us out."
"He's probably feeling pretty betrayed right about now. If he is, what do you think he's doing about it?"
"William, you wrote, 'Thanks for the perfect place to play'. What were you talking about?"
"Golfing."
"Right. What was it like?"
"Perfect," he smirks.
Will is so confident he isn't going to get caught that he's radiating energy that you can feel from outside the room. The energy is allowing you to see images of Will and his partner with a girl they've kidnapped. The girl is one of the girls who was reported missing and found dead. One of the girls was dead before you even arrived in Florida.
"Rossi, I see him and his partner with one of the three girls who were found dead. Keep him talking. The more he thinks he's getting away with it, the more I can use his energy to see more."
Derek sets out pictures of the three dead women since he heard everything you've said to Rossi. All of the women are happy and smiling as if nothing bad could ever happen to them.
"You probably don't recognize them like this, do you, William? Happy and smiling. All these gifts. All these girls."
"This is someone's child. You know, Missy Dewald was supposed to meet her parents for dinner. She was eighteen years old, an only child, and you just took her away."
"I feel sorry for those parents. I really do," Will says without emotion.
"Do you hear yourself? Not an ounce of sincerity. You just proved you were incapable of empathy just like your partner. William, you never would have done any of this without him, but you just weren't complete, right?"
Spencer walks into the room and hands you some papers. The pages are about the love between William and his partner.
"Rossi, we have something."
Rossi leaves the room while Derek stays inside, and you hand him the papers Spencer gave you.
"It's been so long, my heart aches. I need to see that face again soon," Rossi reads the papers when he walks back inside. "I mean, it's pretty obvious there's an emotional connection between you two, huh? You can't deny that, but this doesn't really sound like two buddies to me. Sounds more like two men in love with each other."
"You have no idea what you're talking about."
This strikes a nerve in Will, and this is what you need to get more information from him.
"You're right. I have absolutely no idea what it's like to be in love with another man."
"You know, everyone who goes into law enforcement has this air of moral superiority. For you, it seeps out of every single pore. Black cop in the FBI. You got a big chip on your shoulder with a lot to prove."
"Now who's the one who has no idea what he's talking about?"
"Derek, don't let him rile you up. This is just what he wants," you warn your friend.
"We're not so different, you and I. We choose the games we play because they make us feel powerful. So, what do you have, special agent Morgan? Prove beyond a reasonable doubt that I have broken the law, but don't you sit there with that smug look on your face and judge me, boy."
This pisses Derek off.
"First of all, I am not your boy, and this look on my face is a look of contempt because you disgust me. You and I are nothing alike. When we do find this friend of yours, there isn't a jury out there who won't find you guilty."
Derek leaves the room, allowing Rossi to be alone with him.

March 2024 Reading Wrap Up
I got bronchitis and my period at the same time in March, and then spilled tea on my computer, so March was a very stressful time for me. Regardless, I managed to read 10 books! And honestly, overall, this is one of the better months - the lowest I've ranked a book is 6/10, which is damn good considering the absolute bullshit I usually read.
Religious Text
None applicable.
1/10 - Why Did They Publish This?
None applicable.
2/10 - Trash
None applicable.
3/10 - Meh
None applicable.
4 to 6/10 - Mid-Tier
Tomb Sweeping | Alexandra Chang
I read this book while sick. And boy howdy, did that make it a weird experience. I get what it was going for, but it really wasn't my vibe. It just felt like everything was...unfinished. Which was the point, I suppose, but it was still annoying.
7 to 8/10 - Good With Caveats
What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuality | Daniel A Helminiak
This is a very short book compared to my usual reads, topping at 152 pages. And I appreciate a book that gets straight to the point and analyzes the historical context around various works, particularly religious works. Good job. My only complaint is some editing issues.
Born to Love, Cursed to Feel | Samantha King
This was a poetry collection and was the only other book I read while sick, and boy howdy did I have a time of it. I spent most of the reading just...putting post-it notes in and nodding along to the lines. It was a surprisingly good book, considering I found it in the back alley version of a book store.
Southern Cunning: Folkloric Witchcraft in the American South | Aaron Oberon
Look. This is not a 101 book. It's not a 102 book. It's not even a 201 book. It simply is. And as much as I enjoyed it and enjoyed reading it, the fact that I spent most of my reading time fixing the editing means that I cannot, in good faith, put this any higher than an 8 out of 10. Dear Aaron Oberon, if you ever read this, PLEASE give me access to the original file so I can fix your punctuation and spelling mistakes. Sincerely, a fellow Southerner.
9/10 - Very Very Good
Snow White with the Red Hair, volumes 21-23 | Sorata Akiduki
I am still so fucking feral over this series. I love them so fucking much. I want them all to be happy but I also like seeing their shenanigans. Unfortunately, though we're at 26 published volumes, we've reached the end of the ones in Missouri Evergreen that I may access. I'll either have to wait and hope that someone gets them, or I'll have to bite the bullet and buy them myself.
Not Pounded By Anything: Six Platonic Tales Of Non-Sexual Encounters | Chuck Tingle
This is my first expedition into the erotic Tingleverse after reading some pieces of the horror Tingleverse in Straight and Camp Damascus. And I really, really like this book. It's 77 pages and is such an easy read. Godspeed, you glorious bastard.
10/10 - Unironically Recommend To Everyone
Well, everyone who's into the genre these fall under, at least.
Writing Fiction: A Guide to Narrative Craft, tenth edition | Janet Burroway
I found this in the free section of a bookstore in the middle of nowhere, and let me tell you, it is now marked up one side and down the other with highlighter, because I needed it. There are so many good parts of this book that it's genuinely one I would recommend to people who are trying to figure out why their writing feels flat.
Sacred Gender: Create Trans and Nonbinary Spiritual Connections | Ariana Serpentine
First, I want to congratulate the author on what is possibly the coolest name ever.
Second, if you're an occultist, polytheist, witch, magic practitioner, or in any other way affiliated with things beyond or within mortal ken...get this book. It's making me rethink a lot of my own experiences with my craft and my religion, but in a good way.
