writeblr intro!
Tumblr media
hello everyone, i'm mina! i'm back on writeblr after a long break, and would love to connect with some fellow writers to discuss wips and writing and all our interests <3
some info on me below!
mina, the person
howdy, my name is mina, i use the pronouns she/her, i'm in my late twenties and from austria
i am currently pursuing a degree in education, and am working full time, so i don't have as much time to spend on writing as i'd like, but what can ya do
my favourite genres to read (and write) are fantasy, sci-fi, and historical fiction; but really, i'll read anything that sounds interesting!
my interests outside of books are a little all over the place lol, and include musicals, horses, linguistics, and formula 1. if any of that vibes with you let's be friends pls!
mina, the writer
i am currently in the worldbuilding + plotting phase of a fantasy wip! it's basically all my fave tropes thrown into a blender: flawed prophecies, questions of identity, religious and political tensions, wholesome romance despite it all. proper intro post for it coming soon!
i also plan on participating in a young storyteller contest this summer - for that, i am drafting a novella about grief and resurrection. (basically: what happens when you don't let the dead be dead in peace?)
when time allows i also write reviews of the books/shows i've watched! and i'm working on a podcast on media literacy with a friend of mine.
all ask games, tag games, and chatting in general are welcome anytime!
thank you so much for reading! i'd love to make some writer friends, so it would help a lot if people would interact with this post <3 can't wait to meet and read y'all soon!

Hey, @t0tally-n0t-3m0, figured this might be easier to read as a post. Here's 24 pods with nonbinary lead characters to get you started. There's more out there, so if anyone wants to add on, go for it.
Additional Postage Required: (Sci-Fi) Adventures of an interstellar courier who starts to get glimpses of the past from their packages.
Anamnesis (on the Tin Can Audio feed): (Mystery, Weird Fiction) Someone wakes in a temple in an empty town with no memory. Short, really nice sound design.
Badlands Cola: (Mystery, Supernatural & Horror elements) big city PI Sunny is hired to find information on a rural cult leader, and is drawn into a world of strange radio, horse enthusiasts, and dinosaur bones.
The Dead Letter Office of Somewhere, Ohio (one of two leads, you'll meet them halfway in): (Supernatural, Weird) Two workers for an Ohio dead letter office read the strange confiscated mail their organisation collects, and do some follow up investigation.
either: (Weird Fiction, Sci-Fi, Romance) An explosion at a duck factory sends a pet robot to another reality, connecting two very different (but both lonely) people.
Hello From The Hallowoods: (Supernatural Horror) A dramatic entity beyond your comprehension visits your nightmares to tell stories of the people (in varying degrees of human and alive) that inhabit the strange, deadly, and beautiful Hallowoods.
Inn Between: (Fantasy, Adventure) Ever wondered what the party gets up to at the tavern between D&D sessions? (Not a tabletop).
Jar of Rebuke: (Supernatural, Horror elements) An unkillable amnesiac scientist (they die, just have a hard time staying dead) investigates weird entities, makes friends, and eats a lot of tasty food in the strange town he lives in.
Khôra Podcast: (Sci-Fi, Adventure) Somewhere between inspired by and adapted from greek mythology, a space adventure following four mythological figures on their search for the golden fleece.
Less is Morgue: (Comedy, Horror elements) A ghoul and a ghost host a podcast about whatever they please in the ghoul's mom's basement, and manage to get off topic anyway.
Light Hearts: (Slice-of-Life, Supernatural elements) Three friends run a lightly haunted queer café. Upbeat and wholesome.
The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality: (Weird Fiction, Supernatural, Horror elements) A friendly AI tour guide leads you on a tour of the Mistholme Museum, explaining the strange and often alternatural story behind each item. (To be clear, the nb lead is an AI with no concept of gender, but the creator is NB also and it is far from the only nb character.)
Monstrous Agonies: (Advice, Supernatural) An interpersonal advice show for supernatural entities and other people living liminally in the modern world.
ROGUEMAKER: (Sci-fi, Whodunnit) A commercial space flight explodes and passengers are left isolated in the escape pods, only connected for minutes at a time and unsure what happened, or why.
Second Star to the Left: (Sci-Fi) Audio logs of a colonist sent to a new world and her communications with the minder in charge of keeping her alive.
Sidequesting: (Fantasy) A wholesome podcast following Rion, an adventurer with a difference: they only do sidequests.
SINKHOLE: (Sci-fi, Weird Fiction) Forum posts from a data restoration community in a near future where the human brain is its own computer and one city hosts a massive void.
Skyjacks: Courier's Call: (Tabletop, Fantasy) Three young postal workers aboard a skyship go on various adventures. Kid-friendly but enjoyable for all ages.
The Starport Inn: (Supernatural, Mystery) An FBI agent sent to a rural town to solve a disappearance finds they've walked into something much stranger.
The Supernatural Protection Agency: (Supernatural) Call logs for a helpline that aims to solve the supernatural problems plaguing your life.
Tell No Tales: (Supernatural, Horror elements) Leo Quinn, secretary to the man in charge of the world's leading ghost removal service, interviews various ghosts in an attempt to create a device capable of actually recording them, in the hopes of taking down the company they work for.
Trial and Error: (Sci-Fi) Interviews with various AI as a scientist attempts to make sense of spontaneous machine sentience.
Under the Electric Stars: (Sci-Fi) A courier's failed heist to help their AI friend/navigator pulls them into a world of crime organisations and unethical science.
The Weird: (Tabletop, Supernatural, Comedy, Horror elements) The two staff members at The Department of the Weird travel America in their shitty Ford Fiesta to investigate various strange happenings

Do they have rizz?
🤨📸
Robin: Yes. A hundred times yes. Students see them walking by and they swoon. Specifically, they've got that 'girl/boy next door' rizz. Everyone (and by everyone I mean the more wholesome of the bunch because let's be honest most of them are downright nasty) wants to kiss their dimples.
Whitney: Well... yes and no? They have charisma, but it's more of aaaaa uh. Like they make an lasting impression. And maybe if they were nice they'd be somewhat on par with Robin. But they're not so all they got going for them is they're rough and sexy and people are into that. But in terms of romance? Hell no. No one wants to get with them like that.
Pure Sydney: Yes but to only a select few: The ones that have a certain type, which iiiis 'pure awkward baby girl/boy that is considered a role model'. Because to be honest if you're not one of those people you'd probably be a little scared and a bit annoyed of sydney tbh. Especially if you're a bit of a mischievous student bc what if they tell on you or smth??? nah. And plus they have a killer glare that just screams 'gtfo my way'.
Corrupted Sydney: The rizziest of them all. The rizzanator. The rizzly bear. The three rizzketeers. They are so hot and for what. With proper communication with pc (if they're dating), they openly flirt with literally everyone. Innuendos thrown into the air and suggestive pick up lines whispered huskily....lord. But that's about as far as it goes, they love leaving people hot and bothered just to sneak off with you to tickle your neck with kisses.
Kylar: Hear me out. Hear me out. Now you might think they have ZERO rizz and YOU'RE RIGHT. THEY HAVE ZERO. ZILCH. NADA. BUT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT GIVES THEM RIZZ. THEY'RE PATHETIC AND SOME PEOPLE(me) LOVE THAT. Except the people that take an interest in them are too afraid to approach them lest they transfer some of his encounters with bullies to themself. Either that or it's purely sexual like they just want to fuck them and toss them aside.
Avery: N.....no. They're hot as fuck, don't get me wrong but that's....about where it ends. Unlike Whitney, nobody even wants to fuck them because uhhh bad attitude. Also most of the town seems to be into obedient subs? So yeah. Like their arrogance, their bitchy-ness, their pride and how pretentious they come across..........ew. But yeah, no bitches no rizz and definitely no head. (I'd still peg them tho)
Eden: No. He looks hot but he's too scary for that to give anyone confidence to strut up to him. Also there's almost no one to rizz up when you're living deep inside the woods in a cabin. There's a reason the only time he got a bitch was because they developed stockholm syndrome.
Alex: Yes<3 Similar to Robin in a way but unlike with them when people feel at ease and comfortable, with Alex you feel energized. Like you just wanna fuckinf chase eachother and end up tackling the other and just make out in the open. Like oughhh he is so sexy and cute. Save a horse, ride a farmer.

Pairing: Revali x GN Hylian Reader Summary: Visiting Revali today ended up in archery training, wholesome banter, and a lot of fears with the rise of Calamity Ganon. Themes: Romance, Fluff, Slight Angst Word Count: 2,737 A/N: Another x reader because I noticed not many people really make fics talking about how they felt or how it was before the calamity, that or I haven't read much. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it, it's crossposted to my ao3!
It was a freezing day in the Tabantha Region. Today marks a few months since you've started living in Rito Village. Having a daily routine of checking in with villagers and helping them out when they needed, it's a normal occurrence that you bump into the Rito Champion more than once, sometimes, it happens on a daily basis. That Rito has the ego and pride of a lion but still is sweet at heart when the situation permits. Eventually, you both established a bond and became friendly with each other.
Your tasks from villagers range from killing a few bokoblins to delivering something to certain people. Well, the latter is how you end up in the flight range as you jokingly asked Revali to teach you the bow. You went to the training grounds, bringing food for the Rito Champion as requested by the village elder. When you curiously wondered how training under Revali would be, and so you asked and that's how you ended up in the situation you are in now.
"I'm giving you a private lesson here, only because I think your bond with me is worthy enough for it." He hands you the swallow bow and walks a few feet away from you, not meeting your eyes.
"There are many rules in learning the art of archery, if you are wanting to learn… You better not be slacking." He said sternly as he took a glance. His back turned to you as you nervously held the swallow bow he entrusted to you. "Now the art of archery may have a lot of rules." He spoke with pride before turning to you with a smile, "But the first thing you need to remember is holding that bow with confidence. Go, show me how you hold your bow."
You gave him a weak smile as you tried to mimic how he aims as you aim at one of the targets. "You know, you haven't even taught me how to hold it yet." You said as you fumbled and strained yourself, he sighs as he watches you struggle to keep your posture. Approaching you, he gives you a comforting smile then teases, "I don't know what you'll do without me." Causing you to roll your eyes and reply, "Well, I asked only because I wanted to see what devastating training you put your warriors in." A chuckle erupts from you as you watch him hum, ignoring your comment, and moving to your side. He raised his wing, gently caressing your hand and the upper side of your back to help with your posture. His face was focused but being in close contact with your friend, you can't seem to hide the blush on your face.
"What did I say about confidence? Stand tall and don't be too nervous. You have to stay focused and trust yourself with the bow. Your arms will just get more unstable if you keep letting the bow take control of you." He pats the lower part of your back as he gives the lesson, making you jolt and yelp in surprise. The arrow that you were holding makes a beeline for the target, hitting the outermost ring. He chuckles at your reaction, earning a pout from you. He gave you a smirk before teasing you, "You lack focus. I was just guiding you and you jolted like a horse when I softly patted you."
After a while of playful banter, you both relaxed and looked at where your arrow ended up. You gave a nervous chuckle and said, “Well, at least it’s at the target. I say a hit is still a hit.” He rolls his eyes then laughs. "If it were a real monster, there is no outer ring and they'll most likely be moving, then most likely, you'll die before you get a hit." He states as he flies up and shoots a few rings to demonstrate and to show off to you. He then looks at you and says, “You’ll figure it out! You’re smart enough for that, right?” He ignores your groans in irritation as he continues to show off. "You could be such a jerk at times." You said as you sighed, watching him continue his exhibition.
Well, that's Revali, he has good intentions but he couldn't control his desire to show off. It happens from time to time, earning praises and cheers from the crowd. Little would you know he was showing off more towards you, trying to get your attention and praises as if he was a bird trying to flaunt their qualities for their chosen mate.
You held your bow and went back to training, you tried your best to aim at the target again. Steadying your bow, breathing in as you took your time before shooting the target. But when you noticed a flock of birds pass by you decided to give it a try and aim at them.
“Might as well give it a shot, maybe I could have something to prove to Revali.” You thought as you breathed in to take your shot.
You release but the arrow misses them by a feather, shooting upwards piercing the cold air. Not even a second since you released it, Revali returns to you. "I've got a better idea on how I could possibly teach you the ropes." He says proudly as he lands in front of you, "You may have no experience at all, but if you take the lessons that-"
His voice was silenced from your mind as you noticed something shine in the sun above both of you. The arrow from before comes rushing down on you both. Your eyes widened and as time slowed down, you pushed yourself onto Revali, hard.
"H-hey!" He stutters as you both were sent off the railing of the platform and onto the snow bed below. "What was that for?!" He exclaims as he tries to look for you in the snow. The impact sent you flying a bit further but not by much. Revali stands up quickly dusting himself off before going to you.
"You better have a good explanation for putting us both in danger-"
"The arrow I shot to the sky fell down." You cut him off and said quietly as you focused your attention to the sky.
Revali was going to continue on his ramblings about archery and safety but he noticed how little you seemed interested. "Did you hit your head or something? Why are you staring at the sky?" He asked, worry was in his voice but he was more intrigued than anything. He looked up and he saw Vah Medoh flying up in the sky. He still looked confused as he returned his gaze to you, "What's with the Divine Beast Vah Medoh?"
Your eyes were closed for a minute, "Nothing, nothing… Just humour me for a bit, Revali." You say softly as you lay in the bed of snow peacefully, patting the snow next to you. He shrugs but decides to lie down next to you in the snow.
"Have you ever had time to stop and think about it?" You say as your eyes flutter open and watch the beast fly.
"I'm not sure what you're getting at." He said as he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Well, all of you champions are surely talented and skilled enough to protect your villages… But have you ever wondered who the pilots of the divine beasts were before? What trials and what reasons did they have for being chosen?" You say with a small smile and close your eyes for a bit, "I wonder if your ancestor was just as cocky as you are." Teasing him, you looked to your side where he lies, he didn't notice what you said and thought back to your question. It wasn't rare that Revali doesn't notice the things you say, you knew he had lots of things in his mind, that they cause him fear and anxiety under that persona he shows. You turn your head back to Vah Medoh as it flies high above them, gliding in the wind like a giant majestic eagle.
It was a while in silence before Revali opened his beak and said, "I never thought of that, if I was honest. Truly, I have no time for such small things but I'd like to humour you this once."
"I think those previous champions are just ashamed they couldn't put an eternal end to Calamity Ganon. I would be if we couldn't."
There it was, the nightmare of many, the Calamity. You usually run away from it, the prophecy and its probable effects in your mind, but it's eventuality haunts you. You loved your life in Rito Village, you loved how things were now, you loved spending time with your friend, Revali, no matter how much of a jerk he could be at times. It was hard to think that a big calamity could change everyone's lives for the rest of their time living in Hyrule. Silence fills the void between you both as you both lie in the snow.
Revali, honestly, thought the same in the silence. The people here, the rich culture, the bonds and the life. They're all things he wishes aren't affected by the calamity when it comes. He'll miss the chicks singing in the morning, training others as well in the flight range. Above all, he'll miss you in all of it. The way he'll see you smile as you approach him, the little stories he hears from your adventures and tasks there. It's all the things in his daily life, he wasn't sure he wanted to change but he knew much that he needed to protect.
"Do you think we have a better chance?" You say, the anxiety crawling up your neck and grasping your throat as if it's stopping you from talking. Revali chuckles nervously and says, "We should be, there's no other choice. I'm up there as a support! Surely, just surely, when that little hero falls back and begs for me to save him, I'll swoop in and kill that calamity in a shot." He smugly boasts, hiding the anxiety in his own voice as you giggle, "I don't doubt you could do it, but just be more careful, even when the calamity is dead and gone, there's no saying that the village will ever not be in danger. We could still use your skills and protection, Revali."  There was a smile and truth to your words as you try to erase the possibility of his death from your mind.
"I'm sure I'll be fine, I'm never not ready and in control of the situation. Despite that, I can't make any promises when the time comes." Softly he says as he closes his eyes and sighs, "Rito Village depends well on me and the protection of Vah Medoh, I'd gladly risk it all for them."
Snow piles up on both of your bodies as the light of the sun very slowly melts it away.
"I know" you said but it sounded like you were talking to no one. Like it was a confirmation to yourself, to remind yourself of the reality that is Calamity Ganon.
When silence hits you both, It wasn't an awkward silence, just a knowing one. It spoke loudly as it echoed the chaos that may happen when the calamity finally arrived. What could happen to Revali honestly terrified you both. Revali was all for risking his life and his future for the sake of his people, but that was when he didn't have much to lose. But now, he couldn't stand and afford to see your face so dejected and defeated.
It was deafening with how loud the silence was but you were determined to break it, letting go of the overwhelming feeling of fear as you said, "Have you ever thought of settling down after the calamity?"
Revali's feathers puff up all of a sudden as he sits up and faces you, flustered by your question, "W-wait, what? What does that have to do with anything?! With the calamity?!"
His mind goes wild as his heart races, 'Don't people who only have interest ask that? You don't just casually ask that after some deep thoughts about life, death and survival! Why does she have to fluster me like that when I'm off my guard!'
You give him a smile, finding comfort in his flusteredness and say, "Well, I was just thinking of what it could be like in the future where the calamity is defeated. I wonder if you'll have little chicks… But then again, I wonder if those chicks are just as snarky and impatient as you are." You teased him and chuckled. He loved your smile, that much was true, but he couldn't let you get away with teasing. He rolled his eyes then replied to you, "Well, I'm sure your little Hylian children would just be as chatty as you, maybe even just as nosy too." You both laughed and when the laughter died down, you both had smiles on your faces. Revali lies down once again beside you, letting the snow comfort his form.
"Seriously though, have you ever thought about settling down and having anything other than training? What if you don't really need to train anymore?" You say as you glance at your side, Revali's face was comfortable and relaxed, you could even say he seemed at home. It warms your heart to see your friend's guard down like this. It warms you that he trusts you enough to be like this around you, and you made a promise to yourself you'll keep him safe in these moments.
"Well, I think I'm better off a few more years alone, maybe go on an adventure or train future warriors on how to be better. I'm not sure if I really found one to settle down with yet, I don't mind if I never do…" He hums as he looks a bit embarrassed. His beak feels dry as he lies when he says he hasn't found someone he'd like to settle down with.
You've always been by his side and took care of him, so that for once he didn't have to feel like he had to carry the burden all by himself. At first, he despised it; Leaning onto someone for the weakness he couldn't overcome but despite that, with every look on your face, the absolute care and loyalty you had to him. It took his heart and warmly blew on it, that the wind carried his sorrows away.
He coughs and continues, "But it would be a nice thing to imagine… Waking up to someone next to you and looking forward to going home… Don't you agree?"
He looks at you expectantly, somehow, it's like he was searching for some hint of affection you had for him but you kept your gaze focused on the sky.
"Hmm, for me? I agree too but just… I hope whoever it may be, they'll be my best friend. I want to have a laugh with them while staying safe in their arms, you know?" You chuckle as you sit up, your eyes meeting with his. It was a moment of connection, but you both denied it was something more, afraid of what could be and the feelings that'll hurt when the calamity eventually comes. You blinked away as you stilled your beating heart and said, "Well, that's enough thoughts for today, don't you think?"
You stood then helped Revali up who had a curious look on his face. He tries to hide his flusteredness when you mentioned 'best friend'. He thought to himself but chuckled and whispered,
"It couldn't be, right?" to which you replied to him with a confused hum as you walked back towards the village.
He shakes his head, reassuring you, "It's nothing, don't mind it" He says softly as he denies any possibility that you may actually like him back but a smile crept on his face as he looked at you fondly. He gives in and thinks to himself as you stopped and stood, waiting for him. He watched your figure as he caught up to you; His mind's thoughts were calm today, except for the lone thought.
'Maybe after the calamity, when all is done and safe, I could be your best friend.'

It's been awhile since an IF has managed to completely take over my brain in awhile so I decided to get a drawing of my @infamous-if MC Delilah Rose, commissioned from @inorheona, who always does a fantastic job.
OC Fun Facts below
Pansexual
100% has a praise kink, she wants to explore that more but the kind of sex she has doesn't usually leave much room for conversing.
Has been wildin' in the club since she broke up with Seven, like a lot, probably to much, maybe needs therapy. Definitely needs therapy
has a very particular Pen Preference and while she will use whatever is available, she might complain. Also, prefers to write in one of her many notebooks over her notes app.
She does drink, she does do drugs (Coke or Oxy depending on her mood) but tries to stay sober and makes sure her friends get home. Also, she sleeps around and would rather do that as sober as possible.
Has definitely written lyrics on the back of a one night stand. In sharpie, she was very sorry. She always dedicates that song to that poor women.
Would kill to play a rain show. She has a thing with rain storms.
Loves to read romance novels. especially fantasy ones, ESPECIALLY spicy ones. Its trash but she loves it.
Is she still actively in love with her ex, probably, is she planning on avoiding that with every fiber of her being, absolutely.
I like to think she is part of a VERY casual FWB situation with the lead singer of another band where they meet up when they are in the same place and send each other memes. For two rockstars, its pretty wholesome.
Would absolutely love to be in a committed relationship, monogamous or otherwise but is too afraid to even try.
Wants a big family, is looking forward to being an aunt, is convinced she is going to be a horrible mother, which isn't true but she doesn't think highly of herself, also she doesn't know how to balance her music and the relationships she has that aren't directly tied to her music and having a baby scares her. (She is very careful)
Is okay with the idea of being married but doesn't think it's necessary, catch her with her lover initial around her neck, or initials tattooed on her wrist.
Is super committed and very touchy in a relationship, really enjoys PDA but wants to keep as much of her relationship private as she can, just for them.
Will eventually write love songs but hasn't written one in a long time.
Is completely unaware of how she affects people, not is a mean way, she just doesn't think she is that important outside of her music. She is sweet, just sad and a bit oblivious. She is a sweetheart she just doesn't believe you really like her.
Says she is indifferent about her parents, that's kind of true, she still wishes they liked her (Head canon wise, I think her Dad does and wants to reconnect but at this point he doesn't know how and her Mom resents Delilah, she never wanted kids and D is aware of this. )
She is Chinese on her Dads side and Portuguese on her Moms. She is First Gen American and doesn't really know he extended family.
I think friends would call her D if nicknames ever become a thing.
Would love to have pets, maybe a bird or some bunnies. But she is literally never home.
Love language is a tie between Physical Touch/ Words of Affirmation
Loves pet names.
A pacifist unless she needs to fight then she can.
I like to think she has a lot of half baked talents like her parents put her in a ton of activities to keep her busy and supervised when she was young so she can sew, tie fancy knots, put up a tent, build a fire, has basic tap/ballet, karate and can raise goats and ride a horse.
Is an absolutely mid cook. She tries but generally hates cooking.
Has everyone's things in her apartment. Like she has a spare room and in that spare room is two dressers and a closet full of the bands stuff and they can sleep there whenever.
Has a top secret email that Fans can use to get in touch with her and there is a higher chance of getting a reply. Sometimes people use it as free therapy (She is not someone who should be giving advice) or different artistic pursuits, fanart, short stories. I think she has written songs based on short stories sent to her email, she gives them credit and dedicates those songs to the author. Has she received fanfic to this email.... Yes.
Is artistic and tends to work on other projects while idle. Right now she is crocheting a baby blanket.
Has so many belts.
Favourite Colour- Green
Favourite Show- Black Mirror
Favourite Movie- The Princess Bride.
I only create one MC per game. I am not a multiple MC girlie. So she will romance everyone but as an angsty, second chance romance girl, Seven is probably gonna be her main. (Although G is a close second.)

I agree that zutara is not super dark, it's why even amongst their fans there are people who don't like darker ships (and even get up on their high horse about it sometimes, "I only like healthy ships" crowd). I think it's annoying when people describe every enemies to lovers or villain/hero(ine) ship like it's the same
I actually don't think every ship has to be healthy and I think part of what's so interesting about zutara is its versatility, so I think it's awesome when people like it for its wholesomeness and awesome when people want to explore a darker version of it. But let's be real, it is unique in the enemies to lovers game because it has what most of these kinds of ships rarely have, a canon resolution where the former enemies become friends and allies before any possibility of romance happens. A lot of people like to make the distinction between enemies to lovers and enemies to friends to lovers for that reason, because many people who ship zutara do so for the journey of them becoming friends first. And some people just skip the enemies part and begin from where they are at the end of the series and explore them falling in love from there, in which case the "enemies" part of their relationship isn't even focused on, so it's more like friends to lovers. The zutara dynamic can be vastly different depending on where you put the focus in their narrative arc. It annoys me when people describe it as always having to be so angsty because it %100 does not have to be. At the same time, it also annoys me when people try and say that focusing on the angst is unhealthy or wrong, because it's not.
Me, I like to play around with different aus and I also think it's annoying when people act like there's only one specific way to ship it and then you're locked into that dynamic forever. That idea seems to have gotten more and more prevalent in fandom in general in recent years, the idea of having a specific headcanon on a ship that is forever unchanging, and it's so strange to me because to me, fandom is about creativity. It's why I also think it's strange when people are against multishipping or act like it's a "betrayal" or "cheating" to ship a character with many different characters. Fandom is about possibilities and many can be true at once.
I still don't like KA and MZ though.
I also find this weird when the "but Zuko is gay!!!" crowd rears their ugly heads. Not only because Zuko is canonically not gay, but also because like, who says you have to be locked into one specific headcanon? Zuko is gay when I ship him with boys and straight when I ship him with girls, and bisexual most of the time anyway. What's hard to get about that? Still don't ship him with Sokka.

I really like the way you write romance stories and wanted to know if you had any books you would recommend. I just love the way you write character interactions and this is me checking the bookmarked tab of a favorited author.
oooooh! Okay! (I'm rubbing my hands together, because I love talking about my favorite books)
I don't read a lot of books that are specifically in the romance genre, but I read a lot where the romance is strong. There's just other stuff going on that is more crucial to the plot.
Howl's Moving Castle. My favorite book. It is not the same as the movie, so don't go in thinking it's going to be quiet, pacifist vibes, because it's not that. There's a lot of bickering and over-dramatics. It's so funny. Howl is my favorite fictional character of all time, and the way Sophie doesn't put up with his shit while knowing all the words to his rugby team's theme song is peek romance. Their banter is excellent, and their relationship is weirdly wholesome.
The Scholomache series, which starts with A Deadly Education. It's a magic school, but…more fucked up that you're expecting. Grumpy girl destined to be an evil sorceress and a himbo guy. Shit gets absolutely wild. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Love it.
Speaking of Naomi Novik, Uprooted has a similar relationship dynamic to Howl's Moving Castle. Also the Temeraire series, which starts with His Majesty's Dragon is very fun, although has next to no romance. It's the Napoleonic Wars but with dragons, and is both ridiculous and pointed.
The Scorpio Races. This is a really beautiful book about evil magic horses and loss and poverty and being stuck places. I love it.
A Far Wilder Magic. Holy shit, what did I read? Everyone else needs to read this too and confirm it exists. It's a Goddamned triumph.
Things without much romance, that I am going to recommend anyway:
Paper Menagerie (Devastating Short stories).
Orange World (Devastating short stories)
What it Means When a Man Falls from the Sky (Devastating Short Stories)
The Murderbot Diaries, which starts with All Systems Red (Most relatable character ever)
Project Hail Mary (wild fun ride. If you like how I do Zelda talking about Sheikah tech, this is for you.)
Sourdough (cute novel about a magic sourdough starter and a robot arm)
The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August (I think about this an unhealthy amount)
The Girl from Everywhere (girl's sea captain dad can time travel using old maps)
Iron Widow (Pacific Rim with more revenge)
The Last Tale of the Flower Bride (rich prose. Perfect balance of fairy tale logic.)
If you go read any of these, or if you've read any of these, feel free to drop me a line shrieking about them. I would love that. I have a lot more to say about all of them.

I like that tamlin is this beefy man, a beast and a high lord but Feyre is the bad bitch in their relationship. she's the huntress, she sets traps for monsters and likes horse riding and he is the one who loves playing a fiddle and swimming in a lake of starlight and laying in the grass just listening to the willow next to her 🥰 idk but I just love this little thing about them. I feel like in writing their romance off SJM killed a part of Feyre's personality too and I just feel sad about that. feylin are beauty and the beast but it's the girl who's feral and sometimes a pessimist and a realistic thinker (coz of the life she's lived) while the dude is the sunshine in her life helping her open her heart to others, forgive her own family, and just love and live. it's just all so beautiful 🥲
They were so cute and wholesome and THEY DESERVED BETTER SARAH BECAUSE THEY WERE PERFECT TOGETHER

A newly arrived stallion arrives and Thena watches how Gil and that said stallion forming a bond
Something wholesome and cute? For the dressage AU
It was huge. Stallions were fairly large breeds, of course--well muscled and meant to be strong. But even with all that being said, there was no denying the horse was massive. It was all black, with quite a mean expression. Its long mane had yet to be trimmed or groomed because the beast wouldn't let anyone near it, let alone with shears.
Only one had been brave enough to even try.
Thena watched from around Olympia's shoulder. She had only seen the new arrival a few times, now. He had been purchased by the club for what an asset he could be, but first they needed someone willing to tame him. From what she had heard, Ikaris had tried, maybe even Eros - only the most egotistical riders, of course - but to no avail.
"Easy, boy, eyes on me."
Gil had a tight hold on the rope in his leather gloved hand. He let the horse trot in circles around him. The line was taut, the horse maintaining a distance from Gil but at his own pace. Gil walked in circles as he was led by his companion.
"That's right, it's okay," he spoke softly to the monstrous horse, keeping his eyes on it. He was the only one strong enough to compete with the horse's pull on the reins, of course. "No one's here to hurt you, pal. Just try to take it easy."
The horse glared at him, pulling back and trying to get up on his back legs.
"Ah--hey!" Gil tugged again, pulling him forward. "None of that!"
Thena watched, astonished as the stallion seemed to listen. She knew Gil had a way with the creatures, but she had never quite seen it to this degree. Maybe a way with a stubborn or fickle horse, but never taming an actual wild stallion. It was like something out of a romance novel.
Olympia bumped her shoulder.
"Hey!" Thena hissed at her impetuous horse, who flicked her ears at her. Olympia wanted to know more about the new horse as well, obviously. "Stop it!"
"Thena?"
Thena froze, nearly blushing at being caught spying on him (again). She pulled her hands behind her back to disguise her fingers fidgeting with the sleeves of her white buttoned shirt. "I-I see the new recruit is in good hands."
Gil looked at the stallion, who eyed Thena with a new level of wariness. Gil snapped the rope faintly, just enough to remind the horse of the bridle in its mouth. "Be nice."
His tail flicked, but the horse didn't exactly stomp or kick up his feet at her.
"I heard he was unworkable," she murmured, eyeing the creature keeping its distance from them.
Gil also kept his eyes on the young steed, like a coach eyeing a stubborn athlete. "No horse is unworkable, some are just more stubborn than others. But I think we're coming to understand each other."
The stallion attempted to rear up again, voicing his disagreement with that.
"Hey!" Gil barked at him, moving in front of Thena to keep the horse's eyes on him. "Don't make trouble for her!"
The young horse snorted but planted his hooves down again.
Gil wound the rope around his forearm to shorten the leash, walking forward again. "Listen, buddy, I get it, okay? You don't wanna be here?--tough. But it'll be fine if you give it a chance."
Thena watched as, once again, Gil the horse whisperer approached the unsocialised steed and spoke with him on even ground. She could imagine that if they dealt with canines that the unruly new creature would be seating itself before him.
"You think I got into this business because you smell great?" Gil snorted right back at the horse, who turned its face away from the joke about horse smell in general. "I used to just make horseshoes. But I met one horse, just like you, that was way too full of itself."
The horse whinnied again, complaining about its lecture.
"Shut up and listen," Gil sighed, loosening his grip on the rope. "I had to get some horseshoes on this thing, so I spent a whole month winning it over. And do you know what happened?"
The stallion just stared at him.
Thena felt the familiar and uncomfortably moist breath of a horse leaning over her shoulder. She nudged her nose away from her ear, "sh, just listen."
"I finally got the horse shoes on," Gil put his hands on his hips (the rope almost totally slack in his hand). "And he took a dump on me as soon as I did."
The stallion didn't even attempt to hide how much it enjoyed hearing that.
"Olympia," Thena whispered again, nudging her horse, who was also chortling behind her shoulder.
"But his hooves were in good condition for the rest of the season," Gil finished with a huff. He crossed his arms, "because he didn't have to like me, but we did have to work together."
The stallion turned its head somewhat, not wanting to concede.
"So," Gil held his hands up, dropping the rope tethering the horse to him, "I'm gonna let you think about what you want to do."
"Gil?" Thena frowned, watching the rope fall between him and the horse. She moved closer to Olympia subconsciously, and Gil took a few steps back from the horse and closer to her.
Gil stayed still in front of her, watching as the hose kicked and bucked and neighed at the top of his lungs. "He just has to get it out of his system."
Thena wasn't sure if there would be an end in sight to that. But Gil knew what he was doing, maybe more than any equestrian club member in the building. Although she had to admit that the sheer size and display put her on edge.
Gil didn't say anything - very kindly - about her clutching at his sleeve.
The stallion glared at him, panting from its display of protest. It stalked over to him slowly.
"Gil," Thena repeated, tugging at him more. The horse truly was huge, standing much, much taller than Olympia. She moved somewhat more behind him, "Gil!"
"It's okay," he said calmly, whether to her or the horse staring them down. He raised his hands openly, "you ready to give this another try?"
Thena held her breath, nearly hiding her eyes as Gil reached out to the stallion's nose. But she let it go as he actually let Gil pet him. It was slight, and after just a few pats he was sick of it, turning away and flicking his tail again. But Gil had done it, in a sense.
"It's okay," he chuckled, watching his stubborn new stablemate stomp around petulantly. "I think he's done with his temper tantrum, at least for now."
"Hm," Thena mused, unable to match his level of surety. But she did her best to pretend she hadn't been clinging to him. "I'm sure the riders will be eager to think that they can have a go at him, now."
"Well, I think he'll be reluctant to let anyone that close to him yet," Gil ruffled his hair, letting out a tense breath. He turned back to her properly, "sorry you had to get caught up in that."
She tilted her head at him, "was it true?--about you and taming that horse?"
"It is true," he rolled his eyes, "not that it's a nice story or anything. But that is how I started caring for horses and not just making horse shoes. So I guess I know how to deal with colts like him."
The stallion bellowed at him from across the pen, just to complain about being called a young colt.
"Save it, buddy," Gil chuckled back at the horse.
"You make an interesting pair, that is certain," Thena smiled, gravitating back to the side of her own lovely mare. "Should I look forward to watching you mount in the future?"
"Hm?" Gil blinked at her. "Oh, I'm no rider, I'll leave that to you guys."
Gil laughed it off, but Thena watched as he smacked the outside of his thigh, clad in blue jeans to emphasize that he wasn't a rider. But she wasn't sure about that, because he was definitely strong enough to ride if he wanted to.
Not that she had noticed such things.
"Come on," Thena murmured to Olympia as Gil went back to the steed, the boys bonding over whatever males bonded over. She tickled the nose of her prim white horse, "let's leave the men to their work."

Wild Horses (The In-Betweens)
Comp Mints: The In-betweens
All those plot bunnies that proliferated in between ‘The Spider and the FBI’ and ‘Incognito’. In that original series, no sooner were Skinner and Scully an item and then, wham, they’re on the rocks.
There were other stories of course, full of romance and angst, but nothing that flowed through this series, the wild and wacky fun series, where Mulder was totally okay with his partner and boss having an illicit romance that put all of his serious work on the X-Files at risk… Yeah, there was that entire part of it that I glossed over. However, let us continue to suspend reality and just have some good wholesome shippy fun.
Tumblr media
Post Episode: Tithonus
Haunted by Scully's hospitalization, Assistant Director Skinner travels to New York.  As he watches over her from afar, the memory of his own past vulnerability surfaces.  A stolen moment of connection reveals the depth of their relationship and the weight of their secret.  Despite unspoken anxieties, Scully reassures Skinner, offering a promise of a future together.
Wild Horses
By PR Chung
Walter Skinner stood outside the ICU bay, looking through the blinds in the window, watching Scully sleep, her shape cast in the indigo glow of monitors. It was far past visiting hours. It had taken what seemed like an eternity to get from D.C. to New York. Mulder had kept him apprised of her condition, assuring him she was stabilizing as he stepped onto the Amtrak in DC. It was a commuter express, but stops were frequent despite its moniker.
NYU Medical Center
11:15 pm
Mulder was in the waiting area, dozing on an uncomfortable bench seat laughably padded with warn thin cushions. Skinner would coax him to go back to his hotel room soon. They both needed rest, the same as she did.
He reached out, touching his fingertips to the glass, placing them over her figure on the other side. He closed his eyes. This wasn’t supposed to be her. This should never be her burden. He would change places with her, he would make that deal with heaven or hell.
Skinner waited, hovering outside Scully’s room, giving her and Mulder time to visit. He was on the phone, barely listening to voice mails, his mind elsewhere. Her doctor said she was recovering quickly. She could be back home in DC in a few days even.
NYU Medical Center
One Week Later
9:30 am
He glanced toward the room, seeing her and Mulder clasping hands, talking. He was grateful for Mulder being there for her. Skinner didn’t want to consider her having been by herself during this. It was difficult enough when he’d heard the news that she’d been shot. The circumstances, mistakenly shot by a fellow agent, were overwhelming for everyone to comprehend. The severity of her injuries, her condition in post-op and then ICU. Skinner took the phone from his ear and terminated the connection to his voice mail.
If he’d been there, could he have changed the outcome? Could have he prevented it? Could he have blocked--?
He turned to see Mulder stepping toward him, “everything all right?”
“Yeah,” Skinner answered, pocketing his phone with a glance toward Scully's room. Through the window he saw her looking back at him, her face winsome and pale. “Just catching up on voice mails. How’s she doing?”
“Considering,” Mulder said, “she’s doing great.” He offered Skinner a thin smile, encouraging him, “go see for yourself.”
Without hesitation, Skinner nodded and headed toward the door of her room.
"Hey, you," he greeted her, settling on the bed next to her carefully.
"Hey, you," she smiled, taking his hand.  "Don't you have a job anymore?"
"Seems like hospitals are becoming our new vacation spots, huh?"  The memory of his own time spent by her bedside, the worry a constant weight in his chest, tightened his throat for a moment.
Scully shook her head, “We both need to stop doing this.”
Skinner offered a thin knowing smile.
“So, you and Mulder have been shacking up again?”
He chuckled. “He told you.”
“Oh yeah,” she smiled.
“It’s not so bad this time. The room has two beds.”
Scully laughed, then grimaced. “Oh, ouch.”
“Sorry,” Skinner apologized realizing the joke had caused her to hurt herself laughing.
“It’s okay, it was funny.”
He glanced toward the window in her room that faced the hall, checking the hall. Mulder had gone, and no one else was in sight, offering him an opportunity.
He leaned over her, kissing her earnestly, inhaling her scent he had missed so dearly, relishing the tender touch of her mouth. Straightening, watching her open her eyes, a pleased smile across her mouth, he was never more thankful. “When you come home— to DC, when you’re better,” he began, searching for what he was trying to express.”
Scully nodded, patiently listening to him uncharacteristically stammer. She couldn’t imagine what this had been like for him. Keeping so much hidden, the stress and worry. She didn’t want to do that to him, it wasn’t fair to do to anyone. He didn’t deserve that.
“…I’ll clear up my calendar.” He continued, making plans for them. He seemed penitent and it hurt her to hear that in his voice.
She squeezed his hand, drawing his eye to meet her gaze. She smiled. “There’s time.” She told him.
“Slow down.”
He looked at her, trying to understand.
“I’m here.” She assured him. “I’m not going anywhere.”
He reacted, dipping his head to turn away from her, something affecting him that he had to control. Gathering himself he lifted his head, looking at her, nodding in agreement with what she’d conveyed.
“I’ll hold you to that.”

I’m too afraid that a Wallflower adaptation would be absolutely butchered in an attempt to appeal to non romance fans/puritans pushing for sexless media…
I think several issues would corrupt that show, tbh. Those you mentioned, for sure. Imo, The Wallflowers does a superb job of balancing the standalone nature of a good romance and an ongoing plot. You can read them on their own, but (imo) they are MUCH better when read in sequence, especially Winter coming off of Autumn. But if you adapted them somewhat faithfully, they'd all work in a mini-like way.
But of course, I think people would feel the need to have these dumb subplots to make it less romantic. We'd get some bullshit about Westcliff and Simon doing a business thing, Lillian starting her own company, Daisy going out to be proto-Louisa May Alcott/Eloise Bridgerton. I'm sure we'd see Evie getting abused by her family/sexually harassed by her cousin onscreen, because we super need that.
And I think there would be this need to connect things more than necssary. The books do some of it, right? Like, Westcliff and Lillian do get foreshadowed a ton in Summer, and I do think you have this through-line of their life because Lisa LOVES Westcliff, and the series basically ends with their firstborn coming into the world... Until Christmas, which would theoretically be a great finale/special, where you do see more of Evie and Sebastian because Lisa realized by then where the money shot was for fans lol.
But like. I can just SEE them seeding Evie and Sebastian way more than is necessary to create a continuance, and part of what makes their romance so good is that it is so out of nowhere for both of them. I think Sebastian alludes to seeing her in passing at one point, but he was like "whatever" because she was SUCH a Wallflower.
And I do think they wouldn't do the sex justice. Frankly, I don't really think Hollywood is currently casting a lot of men with leading man potential...? Or like, sex appeal? A lot of them read very boyish. I think a Wallflowers show would ideally be diversely cast, I'm not married to like, a blond white guy playing St. Vincent, but I don't even see where anyone is really getting a lot of actors that could pull off the brusque masculinity of Westcliff or the ridiculous sex appeal of St. V.
I mean, it can be done. Before it went downhill and everyone started fucking with everyone's hair, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were super well cast for Outlander. (David Barry was toooo.) Interview with the Vampire has not one, but TWO super hot and talented men in the lead. It can be done. But then you've got Bton, where they lucked the FUCK out with casting Rege for the first season, they lucked out again because while Jonathan Bailey is ultimately "a random white guy" visually, he's charismatic, very talented, and had great chemistry with Simone Ashley... and benefited from a first season that for all its flaws was way more enjoyable to watch and set the second season up for success, I'm sorry. Every other leading man on that show is "another random white guy". Put the dudes they have lined up against a Sam Heughan, a Jacob Anderson, a Sam Reid--both in terms of having a Distinct Look and Vibe and talent, it just doesn't compare. Mainstream American casting directors currently are not tapping into the type of mindset that like... the people casting Kdramas are. Or, on a good day, the people casting telenovelas and daytime soaps. The well is DRY. Girls? They can still find talented, charismatic girls. But I feel like, in part because there's such a need to make everything wholesome and it's easier to sell a hot grown ass actress as wholesome and sexy versus a hot grown ass actor.
So. Yeah. I don't know. I just don't think it would be done super well, lol.
Also, they'd completely bastardize the St. V plot in Autumn. That just wouldn't be done today. No fucking way. He'd like, shove Lillian off her horse or something lmao. IF that. There would be no kidnapping. Certainly no threats.
And I'm sorry, but that kinda ruins the whooole thing.

Family dynamics: Happiness and trauma will be a part of Heartland's 17th season
There is a scene near the end of Heartland’s Season 17 opener where the Fleming sisters are cloud-watching near a pond in the fields of Alberta.
For the most part, CBC’s Sunday-night favourite has been seen as a family-friendly enterprise known for its horses, wholesome humour, romance, beautiful scenery and the odd flash of gentle drama. Nevertheless, characters will inevitably go through quite a bit of life-altering tumult over 17 years, no matter how idyllic the backdrop. For Amy Fleming (Amber Marshall) and older sister Lou (Michelle Morgan), that has included everything from mourning the death of their mother and enduring youthful romantic complications as the series began through divorce, motherhood, various professional setbacks and, most dramatically, the sudden death of Amy’s husband and fan favourite Ty (Graham Wardle) in later years.
So this moving scene between sisters in the show’s 250th episode offers a nice throwback to where it all began.
The sequence is hardly inconsequential in terms of plot. To avoid spoilers, however, we’ll just say the two are contemplating certain aspects of Amy’s future. But it’s also a nice refresher of the relationship between the Fleming sisters and the actors who play them, which was a large part of the appeal back when CBC first aired the Calgary-shot rural drama in 2007.
“The truth is, for Amber and I, luckily our relationship has flourished over the years and we get along better than ever,” says Morgan, who will be joining her castmates for a Calgary International Film Festival screening and Q&A on Sept. 28 at the Jubilee Auditorium. “With some shows, people get really sick of each other and don’t get along anymore but we have a great relationship and when we do scenes like that, it’s not super often. So we appreciate it. It’s like ‘This is nice, this is great.’ We get to do this scene as sisters. We get to be in the beautiful place by the pond. We love doing stuff like that because it’s not typical, we’re not often doing scenes like that. We were talking about it, behind the scenes, how great it was to do it.”
One of the reasons the Heartland universe has survived for 17 years is because it continues to expand. The Fleming sisters arrived at the ranch owned by the kind and wise Grandpa Jack Bartlett (Shaun Johnston) in 2007, not long after their mother had died. Amy was only 16 at the time. They were introduced to ranching life, met the townsfolk of the fictional Hudson, Alberta, and were reunited with their estranged father Tim (Chris Potter). In the very first episode, Amy met Ty, a troubled stable boy who quickly became a big part of life on the Bartlett ranch.
But the teens eventually turned to adults. There were marriages. Every couple of seasons, a new troubled teenager or pre-teen would appear to complicate life on the ranch. Eventually, a second generation of children was born. In Season 17, which debuts Oct. 1 on CBC, one of the arcs seems to be the coming-of-age of Lou’s daughter Katie, who has been played by Calgarian Baye McPherson since Season 15. While her age isn’t clearly specified, she is clearly a teen, right down to the eye-rolling exchanges she has with her uncool parents.
“Isn’t that crazy?” says Morgan, who directed two episodes of Season 17. “My daughter in the show is a bit younger but almost the same age as Amy in the first season.”
While the cast remained remarkably consistent over the years, characters came and went. The character of Georgie, played by Alisha Newton, will not be a part of Season 17.  But in another reminder of the show’s longevity, the first episode will involve Mallory (Jessica Amlee), a fan favourite who began life as a meddlesome pre-teen in Season 1 and returned in Season 16 as a mother-to-be at a crossroads in her life.
Still, judging from the first episode, there will be plenty of room given to the original protagonists of the series this year. Morgan says Lou will deal with some professional calamities while revisiting some childhood trauma that unearths some family drama. As Season 17 begins, she is campaigning for another term as mayor of Hudson. Her opponent is her friend and former co-worker Rick Adderly (played by Aidan Moreno), who was introduced at the beginning of Season 14 as the chief administrative officer of Hudson. Lou feels blindsided and a little betrayed by Rick’s political ambitions and spends part of the first episode debating whether she needs to start running a negative campaign against him, something that her father suggests is necessary but her daughter is against.
As the first LGBTQ+ character in the series, Rick represents another step in the expansion of the Heartland universe. In 2019, the short-lived spinoff web series Hudson introduced a gay character, but Rick is the first for the main TV series in 17 years.
“When we did Hudson, it felt a little bit risky,” says Morgan. “It felt like we were taking a big swing or something. I was glad we were taking it, it was long overdue, but with Aidan coming on board it was more like ‘OK, come on guys, this is not a big deal. This is the right actor for the part, this is his character, he’s excellent.’ It just felt a little more natural and easy and it wasn’t a big deal. I think it probably still was a big deal for some viewers but too bad for them.”
As Grandpa Jack espouses with trademark homespun wisdom in the voice-over narration for the trailer for Season 17: “Families, they come in all shapes and sizes.” Amy is now a single mother who went through a significant period of mourning after the death of her husband. But if Season 17 will see Lou going through some tough times, Marshall says Amy’s focus this year will be on moving past tragedy after Ty’s death.
“Just having the family unit together, unified and looking to the future I think is so important,” Marshall says. “The Heartland family has seen so many ups and downs over the last few years and Amy especially with losing her husband several years ago. It was a very delicate line that we had to travel as far as paying respect to that character and also allowing her to move on and find happiness again. So I do believe this season, Amy has found happiness and she is starting to branch out and do things she hasn’t done before and maybe date a little bit and so I think, for the fans, it’s time. We’ve given it its grieving room and Amy can go explore life again a little bit.”
But for any series, there will inevitably come a time when the story ends. Neither Morgan nor Marshall thinks Season 17 will be the last, but they both say they think about how Canada’s longest-running hour-long drama will take its final bow.
“I always wonder: When this series comes to an end, how are we going to tie it with a bow?” Marshall says. “It’s something that I would hope we knew going into the last season so we could arc all of the characters and the stories so they would have that final tie-together. But, again, it’s something we don’t know. We’re renewed year by year. With a series, you have a little bit of flexibility. Each season could be a cliffhanger, but you don’t want to do that if you’re not coming back. So it’s a really fine line of storytelling.”
Heartland Season 17 debuts Oct. 1 on CBC. The Calgary International Film Festival will hold a screening of Episode 1 and a live Q&A with cast members Amber Mashall, Michelle Morgan, Shaun Johnston and Chris Potter at the Jubilee Auditorium at 7 p.m. Visit ciffcalgary.ca.

So, beating a dead horse and all that, but as someone who occasionally puts "please be careful and don't click on this if the tags dont sound like something you can handle" warnings on our fic, we don't blame people for being put off by it, but we're still unlikely to stop using it anytime soon.
Is it the kind of thing we think shouldn't be necessary? Yes. Is it the kind of thing that we still put in there? Yes, because we feel we have to keep in mind the fandom we're writing for, and considering that the fandom we're writing for contains a certain amount of people who will openly brag about not reading the tags, including one specific person who did so immediately before clicking on a fic before bashing on a gore fic we wrote (anonymously, in a space where we hadn't admitted to writing it) for containing things such as beheading despite being an explicit-rated fic with "romance" in the title, as they expected to be good, wholesome smut.
We don't have faith in the dregs of this fandom to avoid clicking on our fic, and it's nice to have something we can passive-aggressively point to when they complain it wasn't warned for, since reading the tags is apparently too much to ask and we don't wish to be blatantly rude to people in our comments section. We like to see it as a nice little reading comprehension test wrapped up in enough fluff that we aren't just yelling at our readers to not be stupid before getting into the meat of the mantis sex.
We can only hope for the day where our fandom improves enough that we don't have to drop that in, but for now, a little speedbump is an acceptable sacrifice if it keeps us from having to read any more rants about there being gore in their good, christian bug porn. If it turns away a few readers who might be legitimately interested... fair enough, we don't blame you for being turned off, we just don't want to deal with another damn post being stuck to the top of the tag for a week.

Art Summary 2023
shoutout to the one month were i drew fanart and then everything else was just dnd content again lmao (also shoutout to me being late to posting this haaaaa)
2023 wasn't the best year for me personally. between money problems and job searching, health issues, mental health issues, unintentional discomfort at my new job, and the overall issues of the world it just hasn't been great and I felt it heavily in my creativity. I never really had any creative highs this year outside of artfight (and even then i felt like i didn't do well) which only fed into some of the issues I was having.
But looking back I am really happy with most of what I made! Sure I didn't draw much but hey I think I popped off when I did!
So here is to 2024! Already off to a good start in the art department and even if I slow down at least I've had fun so far!
(i was gonna put me gushing about things in tags but its a lot so i'm doing a read more this post is already so damn long lmao i'm sorry)
okay i'm here to gush about two pieces at a time and their contents cause then make me happy to look at so lets get started on that with march and september 'cause hey! look at the relationship development of my little goblin guy!
march was when kk (tic's best friend and now boyfriend) first appeared to the rest of the party outside of just tic talking about him. literally the entire party could see that kk was in love with tic and was just like "oh buddy sorry about that" 'cause tic was a dumbass and romance was just never something he thought about until meeting the party. then we flash forward to september where the two confessed to each other after what really felt like the end of tic's story arc. at least it felt that way to me 'cause he reached his goal of killing groll and becoming the king of goblins but i know he still has shit to do I'M LOOKING AT YOU TRAVELLER AND RIP! but yeah that was the whole reason he left and it was done. he did it! but it almost cost him kk and the two ended up having a really important talk about it. kk chewed tic out and spilled his guts and i still think about it a lot holy shit it was so good omfg but it was in that moment that it clicked for tic. that if he had actually lost kk he had no idea what he would do, that he felt like his whole life would fall apart without him. and just man it was good wholesome content. congrats to the goblins for being the first canon relationship! (even tho they were not the first confession that one goes to rhami!)
now that that block of the text is out of the way we get to more depressing ones, those being january and october with my guy, dr. cecil wilfree.
its just.... man. what do i even say about him. january was probably the last moment before his life went into a full downward spiral, eventually leading into his demise. that piece isn't even anything major but rather something like a reminder going "hey, remember when wilfree had two normal eyes? good times!" and just man (-insert that image of a horse standing on the beach-) compare that to where he's at in october and knowing what happened in those 10 months? january he still had trust and hope, he believed that he was going to get back home and help river out with his plague, maybe even get aster home if she'd let them, maybe find a way to cure himself and help casey. but by the end there was no hope and he found out that he had been used, was nothing more than a tool for someone who he trusted, despite knowing that he really shouldn't have. river was dead and it was his fault (at least in his mind it was), he had failed to protect aster and traumatized both her and willow, and he could do nothing to save an entire population from being wiped off the face of the map. and he caved under the guilt. he gave up. its sad to see him alive and pissy in january and then look at december and see a shell of the same man, no more thoughts in that head as his mind got disconnected from his body and self.
and then for extra sads we've got december which was his birth month, so i drew something from a time before the campaign. back when he was alive and well, no soul curse and unknowing of the horrors yet to come, and receiving a gift from someone whose life he could soon destroy due to his own hubris.
anyway! pay no mind to may! i didn't draw a damn thing that whole month!
