#while this will not happen in the shadow’s endgame
Note
Heyyy if you still take requests:
I would like to request a Brennan Sorrengail x reader reunion where she finds out that he‘s still alive and it‘s all angsty.
It’s sad…
How to bring you back?
Nothing can prepare you for losing the people you love. Even if you repeatedly tell yourself that it will come. Even if there are signs. An early warning of the doomsday coming. When it does hit, it feels equally as earth-shattering. But then some people have no right stepping over to the other side. No right to exhale the last breath. Too soon. Too fast. Too late. They go, ripping your heart out of your chest. Pulling it with them down into the grave. While you’re forced to move on. Go day by day. Feeling your heart rot six feet under with no hope of ever getting it back. Of feeling whole again.
“Here you are”, a voice snapped you out of your thoughts. “Been looking all over for you”, Bodhi’s bright eyes met yours as he and Imogen climbed up the hill, joining you in the green field. “Xaden said that you just left”, Imogen pressed her hand onto your shoulder, a silent question in her eyes. One that you knew there was no way of denying. “It’s his birthday… tomorrow”, the lump dubbed in size making it hard to breathe for a moment. “Here”, Bodhi shoved a paper-wrapped bottle into your hands. You frowned at him slightly so he quickly added, “I stole a bottle and before you say anything i don’t regret it”. You shook your head, this kid was reckless, to say the least. “As a wing leader i do not approve”, you pointed a warning finger but still unscrewed the cap.
“Good thing we are family then”, he winked at you before plopping down by your side and while the field soothed you before now with your friend next to you a pain-laced memory slipped past your walls.
“Why are you looking at me like that”, you shoved at Brennan's shoulder. The evening was warm the fields in full bloom. “Like what”, he smirked, eyes never leaving you. “Just like that”, you waved your hand in front of him, “your eyes are sparkling like crazy”. He let out a low chuckle, hands reaching out to pull you even closer to him. “It’s cause I'm looking at the most beautiful girl on earth”, he mused and you instantly rolled your eyes, “You’re a shameless flirt”. Yet your fingers moved to twist his curls over your finger. Watching the mess of them on top of his hair. Thar careless side of him. That untamed side. He turned his head slightly, “You’re the best thing that ever happened to me”, he muttered, reaching out to cup your cheek. “Careful or I will start assuming that we’re the endgame”, you pointed out but Brennan simply tacked you to the ground, eager kisses finding you in the sea of affection as he muttered “mine”, over and over again.
“Can you leave your second in charge tonight?”, you blinked, slightly taken back, only to see Xaden standing in front of you. “Why?”, there was no need for that usual unless something really serious was happening. “Do you trust me?”, he threw that question so casually making you shake your head, “No, not when you go all mysterious shadow hunter on me”. The male rolled his eyes before shooting you another serious glance, “I want to… Need to take you somewhere”, he stated. “Xaden”, you hissed, not at all loving this mysterious side of him. “Trust me on this one”, he clapped your shoulder, “I’ll explain once we’ll get there”. And even with your gut telling you this was a bad idea, you still nodded your head.
“What is this place?”, the dark corridors you walked through were unfamiliar. You two had left your dragons in the field by the big slightly abandoned-looking building. “My home”, Xaden stated, leaning against a wooden fence. You turned at him, gaping, “Riorson house? Xaden…” This place was supposed to have been run over. Burnt at best. That was what everyone believed in.
“Now it’s turning into something so much bigger. The rebellion is forming within these walls” as if reading your thoughts Xaden added. “What…”, you ran a frustrated hand through your hair. First, a building that was not supposed to be here? Now a rebellion? “You’ll understand soon”, Xaden muttered. “You can get fucking killed are you insane”, you hissed at him, fully turning to face him, “You’re leading a rebellion?”, and you prayed and hoped the answer to that would be a no. But he didn’t get to open his mouth before another voice sounded.
“He’s not but I am”, your body froze. Eyes burning into Xaden who now had a sympathetic look on his face. “No”, you breathed, because there was no way. You were imagining it. Yes. That’s what it was. “Y/n”, the sound of your name nearly made you topple over. Because no one ever made it sound so beautiful like… “No, no”, you pressed your hands to your ears. “My love”, and it’s barely a mumble but his amber curls are right in front of you and it’s as if your whole world is tilting. Shifting. Changing.
“No no no”, you repeat over and over, backing up till you hit something solid. “Easy”, Xaden mutters, hands coming to support you by your elbows. “Take me back, get me out of here Xaden”, you don’t even recognize your voice anymore. You don’t recognize anything. It all seems to blur.
“Y/n”, warm and familiar fingers wrap around your hand and you screech, pulling back. “Yn i can explain it all”, Brennan mutters, eyes glassed over with tears. “Brennan, I think this is not a good idea…”, Xaden shakes his head. “Don’t call him that that’s not him. Not…”, you cry out, hands coming up to hold your head. “It is me dammit”, Brennan grunts in frustration, “look at me turn to me and take…”, he pleads. And it’s as if his words break something with you as you turn to him in frustration.
“I buried you, I watched you burn”, you hiss, showing him backward. “They took everything that belonged to you”, you sobbed, fist hitting his chest over and over again. “I’m so sorry, my love”, Brennan whispers, carefully reaching for you once again. “I grieved you, I….”, you hiccup, the pain so deep it feels as if someone was burning you from within too.
“Y/n…”, he pleas, running his fingers up and down your arms. “All this time”, you grunt, showing his hands away. “It wasn’t safe for anyone to know, I only told Xaden a couple of months ago”, Brennan stares, clearly getting fed up slightly. “Months?”, you chuckle bitterly, “Months! Why didn’t you tell me first?”, you demand, stepping forward once again. “Y/n”, Brennan shakes his head.
“I was a second thought”, your voice is barely a whisper. “You were never my second thought. You were the only thought. One I went to bed and woke to”, he leans it, fingers twirling between the ends of your hair. You shook your head, “And yet you let me die inside all this time. To starve. To wish it would have been me”, you say through gritted teeth.
Brennan opens his mouth but you lift your hand silencing him but he doesn’t seem to understand the power of distraction with you. “Baby”, he muses. “Fuck you”, you lash forward, “I hate you, i hate you”, you scream over and over again. “You asshole”, grunting your palm comes in contact with his cheek, “you killed me, I died on that field with you”. He doesn’t even move from your hits. Standing there like a statue. Silent tears rolled down his cheeks. “I’m so sorry, please forgive me”, he practically begs. “Brennan, maybe you should step aside”, and it’s Xaden’s voice that wraps almost a blanket of comfort around you. “Xaden, I can’t”, you whimper, sinking to your knees. And while Brennan moves to get to you, Xaden gets there first. “It’s okay, we will go back. We will talk when everything settles, yeah?”, he gently brushes away the hair from your face. “He’s not here is he?”, you look up at him with almost hope. “He is. And I'm sorry that I kept it away from you”, genuine regret flashing in his eyes. “Y/n”, Brennan’s broken cry falls over you. “You’re dead to me…”, you cry, looking back at the person that shouldn’t be here, “I don’t know how to bring you back…”, your voice breaks. Sob slipped past his lips then. Right as Xaden lifted you carrying you out into the open field. Two souls crying into the depths of night.

this is about the Desmond x modern warfare
What if Desmond still had trauma from Abstergo forcing him into the animus? Like, even after he died, Desmond always had a massive fear of needles (and reclining chairs) and so when the team needs to do mandatory check ups, he is quite literally found climbing out a window to escape.
how would the team feel about this news? Also what if they find files about Abstergo’s experiments, and Desmond has a top secret files, with videos of his time in the animus (they don’t know what it is, so assume it’s some sort of futuristic torture device or something). Did he have seizures in the animus? Was he in pain? How would the 141 react?
To be fair, Shepherd wouldn’t let Desmond have any medical exams or checkups while he’s with Task Force 141 because any record of his DNA would be flagged by Abstergo immediately. Desmond can’t even pretend to be Desmond Miles’ ‘secret younger brother’ because his genes would immediately flag him as 100% Desmond Miles.
And Desmond knows that so he’d always make excuses or flat-out just not appear or even use his stealth skills to leave without anyone realizing it because Desmond understands how dangerous it would be for anyone to get a hold of his DNA (again). Sure, they say they’re just giving him vitamins or some other medical whatever but Desmond can’t risk his DNA getting taken even with the promise that nothing would be taken (which is bullshit because how can they check his health if they don’t take any samples???)
Anyway, this won’t happen during the timeframe of The Shadow’s Endgame but let’s say that:
Task Force 141 learns of Desmond’s past, maybe it’s even the ‘redacted’ condensed version about a ‘Subject 17: Desmond Miles’ that they got from an Abstergo facility
Task Force 141 would see snippets of Desmond Miles’ time in the Animus although, to be fair, he just looks like he’s sleeping in that one. There were no mentions of him having a seizure or any negative effects while in Abstergo’s Animus because, well, he was only in the Animus for about 9 days.
If you really want them to believe that the Animus is some kind of torture device, it would probably be better to focus on Desmond’s time in the Animus when he was with the Assassins because that’s where his Bleeding Effect started taking center stage and, from what I could remember, Abstergo’s Animus didn’t need any needle. That needle was more of an addition from Rebecca’s Baby as some kind of IV drip to keep Desmond ‘healthy’ while he’s in the Animus for long periods of time (although I do usually write it as both an IV drip and another way to stabilize the synchronization rate without affecting the subject’s health) as Rebecca is the type of person who would try to make Baby as ‘comfy’ as possible.
Honestly, Price and the others would probably assume that Desmond was tortured or had been part of a program that used some kind of drug to manipulate a person, whether it was a torture session to make him talk or some kind of experimental psychoactive drug that is meant to do something (Gaz guesses the drug might be a mind-altering drug of some kind)
Especially if the video they see has Lucy going “Do you know who you are? What’s your name?” which, to spec ops teams like Task Force 141, would sound like someone trying to get a base answer to check the current status of the drugs in Desmond’s system and not someone who is trying to be careful not to ‘spook’ Desmond if he is currently Bleeding.
So yeah, they’d believe that Desmond is under some kind of psychoactive drug in those videos and the redacted files would only confirm their theory once they start reading things like “Subject 17 has the highest affinity to the Bleeding Effect so far” and “Bleeding Effect duration is now 50% longer than three days ago…”
Unfortunately, Task Force 141 would accept this new information grimly because they have seen shit and this kind of thing? It’s, unfortunately, not unique in their line of work. They won’t try to act any differently around Desmond because they know that treating him like he’s made of glass would just make Desmond realize what they have learned and, well… those who usually had been in Desmond’s (supposedly) position usually don’t like to be treated differently. They want to be treated normally, to affirm to themselves that they’re okay, they’re still ‘normal’.
If Desmond opens up to them, that would be good but they won’t force it on him.
Because sometimes…
The best way to help someone is to remind them without trying so hard that there are people who think and see them as… normal.
(Price would suggest Desmond be given a licensed and discreet therapist to one of the higher-ups and, really, the most qualified would probably be Chewy at this point since Victoria Bibeau is already dead)

Clownfall: Endgame
I am calling it that in the full knowledge that batshit things may yet happen, but listen. Listen. We have a year left before the general election. I am hedging my bets and assuming all that comes in that year will be Tory manoeuvring ahead of that. Let's all hope for a nice quiet year in which everything can fall neatly under that banner, that won't ruin this naming convention.

Alright, that's probably everything. Just nice to have it all in one place, innit? If you would like a nice soothing soundtrack to your reading, here's my recommendation. On with the show!
Clownfall: Endgame
Wednesday
So, let's start with charismatic and charming Home Secretary Suella Braverman! You may remember her from such hits as "Quitting before she could be fired after breaking the law only to be rehired by Sunak almost immediately and without consequence to appease the right wing nutjobs in the party", and "Claiming Pakistani men have a culture that makes them work in abuse rings to target vulnerable white English girls" (I should add that, if you are unfamiliar with Suella Braverman, regardless of what that quote implies, she is not, in fact, white); recently she made the news because she announced that being homeless is a "lifestyle choice". So true, Suella! They could give it up any time they wanted. They could, for example, get together and break in and steal your fucking house.
But in particular, here we're focussing on her recent stance towards the multiple huge pro-Palestine marches that have been taking place in London. So far she has indicated that she wants people who wave Palestinian flags to be arrested, so that's very measured and rational of her; but, last Wednesday (Nov 8th), she decided to write a lil opinion piece in the Times all about how mean and biased and liberal the police are. This is an absolutely fascinating assertion to I suspect literally anyone who has ever been involved with the police. But no! Quoth Suella, aggressive right-wing protesters are "rightly met with a stern response", while "pro-Palestinian mobs" are "largely ignored".
And, she claims, the march on Saturday isn’t simply a cry for help for Gaza, but an "assertion of primacy by certain groups - particularly Islamists - of the kind we are more used to seeing in Northern Ireland".
Imagine how well all that went down.
Thursday
You are underestimating how that went down, because it emerges that Suella deVille did not, in fact, get any form of validated sign-off or permission from Number 10 before squirting her ill-informed liquid horseshit all over the front desk of the Times news room, and that, Tumblrs, you'll be surprised to learn, is actually quite an important and compulsory part of criticising the police when you are the Home Secretary. Like, there is a Ministerial Code about this. It is very clear. It is in Article 8.2, Tumblrs. Thou Shalt Have Permission From Number 10 Before Making Media Interventions.
“The content was not agreed with Number 10,” a spokesperson for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told reporters, referring to the prime minister’s Downing Street office. The ministerial code is clear that any ministerial media interventions need approval from No 10.
-AlJazeera
And the Tories are furious! The bloodbath forms quickly and loudly and the hounds start baying! Clown noses are flying everywhere! The factions are drawn! Because even now, there are Tories too stupid to understand that whether you agree with someone or not they still have to follow the rules! Also the other parties realise they can offer some actual opposition here, given that Suella has essentially dragged a barrel into the middle of the House of Commons dressed in a fish costume, handed around a set of loaded rifles, and then crawled inside to wait. The result is that the calls for her resignation are both deafening and pleasingly cross-party.
"(This is a) dangerous attempt to undermine respect for police", says Labour's shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper. "(It's) irresponsible," says London mayor Sadiq Khan. "The PM's weakness when it comes to standing up to Suella is the most shocking thing in all this," claims a senior Labour source.
They're wrong, of course. The most shocking thing is Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey realising he can actually appear in the paper if he plays this right and so surfaces to attempt some politics. "(Sunak) must finally act with integrity by sacking his out-of-control home secretary!" he declares, frightening many MPs who had forgotten he was even in the room with them.
Meanwhile, several Tories approach the BBC anonymously.
"The home secretary's awfulness is now a reflection on the prime minister. Keeping her in post is damaging him," says one. Another straight-up describes her as "unhinged". Another claims the comparison with Northern Ireland is "wholly offensive and ignorant", and really, all of this is permanently triggering that "Heartbreaking: the worst person you know just made a great point" reaction image.
Saturday
Hey, speaking of reaction images, look, Labour has a go:
Tumblr media
Well. They tried.
BUT! Do you want to know the INTERESTING bit??!
Enter: Nadine Dorries! Mad shrieking pink harpy who spends her days maintaining a BoJo shrine in her bedroom! Always the most hinged of politicians, let's see what she has to say.
Former cabinet minister Nadine Dorries claimed Ms Braverman was trying to get sacked to give her a platform of martyrdom in service of the right-wing. "The competition is on now for who is going to be the leader of the opposition," Ms Dorries told the BBC.
???!??!?
PERTINENT POLITICAL OBSERVATION FROM DORRIES?!?!?? The most shocking part of this whole affair. Remember that time she yelled at a journalist during an interview about Boris Johnson's latest scandal when he asked her how Johnson was feeling about the whole thing and inadvertently implied they were having an affair when No One Asked? God, wonders never cease. She's even acknowledging the Tories can't win the next GE, look. I'd say this is growth, except I am 100% positive she's just being catty about BlowJo being fired again.
Anyway, the real Saturday issue: it's Armistice Day, and there's a pro-Palestine march planned.
Now, to give context, Armistice Day has a creepy level of patriotic state-worship attached to it in the UK. Some time in October everyone on telly suddenly starts wearing a poppy, and if you don't you get hanged, drawn and quartered by (a) the British press, and then (b) a baying mob outside your living room. You most be performatively sad. You must perform reverence and hero worship and say things like "Never again" all while whole-heartedly supporting current wars. You must talk about "our brave boys", and share the works of dead poets from the trenches, and then completely fail to absorb any of their lessons. If anyone tries to wear the white poppy to distance themselves from the current political appropriation while still commemorating the millions of conscripted casualties, you accuse them of being "woke" and pissing on the worthy dead of WW1. It's a whole thing, and politicians love using it as an excuse to point fingers and mock each other for being insufficiently patriotic if they wear the wrong tie to the ceremonies, or choose to walk with actual veterans rather than a head of the current army, or any number of other things. And then on November the 12th they'll order a drone strike or something.
So, off the bat, you can see how a pro-Palestine rally on the same day was likely to be seen as provocative to some.
"Some" included Sunak! He didn’t (publicly at least) ask the police to ban the protest, but did call on organisers to call it off, claiming the choice of date was “provocative and disrespectful”, because as I say, a march calling for the ceasefire of a genocide is super disrespectful to every sad dead poet in a trench who dreamed of a ceasefire so they could live, or something.
But the inevitable therefore happens, which is that far-right activists agree that it's disrespectful, and so decide to violently target the march to show their respect for the idea of peace on Armistice Day, or something.
Here's the planned route by the organisers:
Tumblr media
Note, though, that the Armistice ceremony happens at the Cenotaph - visibly nowhere near the march. These two events actually wouldn't have overlapped, if it weren't for far-right protestors deliberately linking them to stop them being disrespectfully linked, or something.
And that's exactly what happened. From the Guardian:
Perhaps the most striking incident, though, was when far-right protesters charged past police who sought to hold them back from the Cenotaph. In this video, a man shouts “this is fucking our country” in celebration. Whereas the pro-Palestine march had been excluded from the area as a precaution, the far right was not; by overwhelming the police, they supposedly sought to defend the site from an enemy that simply wasn’t there.
(that's quite a good article of the whole thing, actually, I recommend giving it a read.)
Crucially to the clown show, though, several politicians and others accused Suella deVille of emboldening the far-right, which... well, several of the far-right protestors straight up said was the case on the day, so hard to disagree, really.
Rumours of a reshuffle in Whitehall circumnavigate the land so fast the truth gets sucked into a tornado and is declared MIA.  Here's the thing! I've covered a few Cabinet reshuffles by now, Tumblrs, you know the drill. Reshuffles are always deniable until they actually happen – so if, say, a reshuffle was going to happen on Monday 13 November 2023, there’d be no need to publicise it in advance. That way, if things change and politics happen, you don't need to retract anything :)
Because, remember: reshuffles are always controversial.  Yes, some people get demoted, and those people will often kick off, and some people who don't deserve it get promoted, and lots of people kick off.  But the big thing is that a lot more people get overlooked for promotion.
His most ardent supporters would say that Rishi Sunak is a cautious man (if you'll allow me a moment to express my own view on the matter, Tumblrs, if you'll forgive this crumb of personal opinion amongst my otherwise impeccable journalling of greatest integrity, I once did a teambuilding task with my students where they had to build the best possible bridge out of uncooked spaghetti and pieces of marshmallow, and I personally would liken the structural integrity of his spine to the losing team's entry), and reshuffles will spread a lot of disappointment to Tory MPs who lose – or fail to gain – a cabinet position.
So, all in all... regardless of Suella's idiocy...
There's no guarantee of a reshuffle. Rumours are just that - whether they prove to be true or not remains to be seen.
Week Commencing Monday 13th November, 2023
New week, new challenges! And it's going to be a big week this week. On Wednesday (tomorrow, at time of writing), three big things are going to be announced, and these announcements will colour everything else this week:
One.  The Supreme Court decide whether the government will be allowed to enact their plan to send some migrants claiming asylum in the UK to Rwanda, a signature Braverman plan that human rights campaigners (including many in Rwanda) have been trying to block for ages.
It’s a massive deal anyway – a flagship government idea that’s been bogged down in the court, and we’ll finally have an answer one way or another.  For what it’s worth, the Tories aren’t confident about winning it, either.  The optimists among them reckon it’s a 50/50 chance, the pessimists reckon it’s 70/30 against, so it's iffy at best.
But here's the thing!
Plenty of Tories have always disliked Suella.  Others could handle the odd outburst she has, but can’t stomach the sheer number of them lately - the Lib Dem non-entity man was absolutely right that she is rapidly growing out of control and just does not know when to shut the entire fuck up.
Which means! If the Supreme Court allows the Rwanda plan, Braverman could become emboldened, like a far-right protest injuring police officers to defend the cenotaph from people who are nowhere near it and have no interest in it.  Do we want an emboldened Braverman?? Well; no, obviously. I also don't want dysentery, or rotten meat, or a serial killer in my neighbourhood. But it's a question even Tories are asking themselves, which is notable.
Plus, even if the court allows it, there will still be months of planning, and lawyers might still prevent the plans in the long run...  But psychologically, the issue is this: the government wants this win, but probably doesn’t benefit from Braverman feeling victorious.
Two.  We’ll get inflation figures.  The government promised to halve inflation, and it seems likely they’ve managed this.  Expect them to massively celebrate this, to distract from the promises they haven’t kept e.g. waiting lists in England, competent governance, etc.
Three.  Voting on a ceasefire in Israel seems likely for Wednesday.  It’s the SNP’s idea, and it won’t affect government policy (they won’t support a ceasefire – they claim it’ll empower Hamas).
But it’s a big deal for Labour, even more so than the Tories.  A Shadow minister has already resigned over the war.  A bunch of frontbenchers want a ceasefire, but that isn’t Keir Starmer’s policy, a man who is calling for the colours of the Israel flag to be shown at sports matches to show that "we stand in solidarity with Israel", because you can really count on Starmer to fuck up everything he touches.  So what do they do?  Abstain?  Claim they had a prior commitment??  We might see more resignations, basically.  Big day for Starmer.
So! With all that in mind...
Monday
8.43am
Oh look. Timestamps are back. I wonder if that suggests anything?
Suella Braverman is sacked as Home Secretary.
Tumblr media
But! Sunak is accused of waiting too long! Which he demonstrably did!
He should have made the decision after the illegal article that she shouldn't have written and triggered a far-right rally on fucking Armistice Day.  Instead, remember that 'cautious' descriptor I talked about?? He waited until the tide had turned against her completely, and now looks like he (a) was too much of a useless wimp to fire her until he was sure people would still like him and pat his dick and tell him he's a Good PM, and (b) only fired her because he caved in to that appalling lefty liberal cabal that somehow these days includes the Metropolitan Police of all fucking people, and she'd have been able to stay otherwise.
Shout out to the best comment from Reddit:
u/nowonmai666: Doesn't she normally get sacked on a Friday so she can have the weekend off before being reappointed?
Anyway, that's the big risk now: Braverman’s supporters can claim she was only fired because Sunak caved in to the left.
8.56am
Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns claims Sunak only sacked Braverman because he caved in to the left.
9.00am
Neil O'Brian, Pharmacy Minister, quits to live out his stated dream of being a back-bencher with less power.
*sus*
9.09am
Nick Gibb, Schools Minister, quits to live out his stated dream of being more diplomatic, or something.
*sus*
9.42am
The Lib Dems decide to build on the success of their leader getting to be on telly for his one comment on Thursday and call for a general election.  Says Ed Davey: “It was the Prime Minister’s sheer cowardice that kept her in the job even for this long. We are witnessing a broken party and a broken government, both of which are breaking this country.”
Good job! They're having such a good few days.
Anyway remember the Tories don’t have to have a general election until December 2024, though, thanks to the Fixed-term Parliaments Act (2011), which was passed by the coalition government of Tories and, um, Lib Dems.  In which Ed Davey served for three years.
Hmm.
9.43am
James Cleverly (remember him?) returns to the Cabinet and is appointed Home Secretary. The party attempts to appear trendy by experimenting with emojis:
Tumblr media
This appointment is probably because Tory strategists wanted him in a domestic role to help the party’s chances in the next election; as Surprising Political Pundit Nadine Dorries told us, of all fucking people, the race is now on to lead the opposition.
But hey, this is not likely to lead to any more changes -
10.03am
FORMER PRIME MINISTER, BREXIT-TRIGGERER AND PIG-FUCKER DAVID CAMERON BECOMES FOREIGN SECRETARY
!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
And look! Another emoji! They're so hip!
Tumblr media
(Side note... the balls on this one are astounding, actually. The UK political system has been in chaos ever since Cameron, and he was the first domino. This is not a well-loved former hero that will be greeted warmly by the unwashed masses.)
Awkward though, since just last month Sunak claimed that we’d lived through “30 years of a political system that incentivizes the easy decision, not the right one.”  It would be a terrible shame if a journalist was to ask David Cameron whether he agreed with the Prime Minister on that, given that Cameron’s job is to support the Prime Minister now.
Especially since Cameron took to Twitter last month to explicitly criticise Sunak for breaking the Tory promise to deliver High Speed 2.
(Cameron tweeted this criticism last month.  Labour MP Angela Rayner however promptly retweets it now lol suck a dick Dave, but try a human one this time)
Also, fun fact, Cameron has just come out of a large-scale lobbying and corruption scandal. Given the state of Sunak, though, that's actually probably what got him the job.
BUT!!! Here's an even funner fact: the man is not an MP. He left politics after he accidentally triggered Brexit and then it came out he'd once face fucked a dead pig's head while it was held on the lap of another Tory; he's been living it up in the lucrative world of after-dinner speaking, as these people do.
So can you do that?? Can you hold a Cabinet position if no one at all has voted for you??
Yes, turns out.
Tumblr media
Don't be alarmed by that, though:
Tumblr media
But, convention holds that anyone who becomes a Cabinet member while not being an MP needs to be a Peer - that way, if they do bad and naughty things, they can't be held accountable by the House of Commons but they can be held accountable by the House of Lords. Only problem is, Hameron is not a lord...
10.13am
The reshuffle, bafflingly, continues. Jeremy Hunt will remain as chancellor.
For the first time since 2010, the top four positions in government – Prime Minister (Sunak), Chancellor of the Exchequer (Hunt), Home Secretary (Cleverly) and Foreign Secretary (Cameron) – are all held by men.
10.18am
Lots of people tweeting about the historic context of Cameron’s appointment.  Here’s my favourite:
Tumblr media
10.48am
David Cameron is given a life peerage, so his proper name now is Lord Piggledick.
10.52am
Health secretary Will Quince quits.  He wasn’t planning to stand for re-election anyway though, so this one is probably not a shock. But it's important that no one else resi-
11.04am
Decarbonisation minister Jesse Norman resigns.
...
...
...
Time for a
✨Conspiracy Theory✨
Between Quince and Norman – as well as Neil O’Brien and Nick Gibb – we’re seeing several mid-ranking ministers resign, despite being generally regarded as fairly competent.
It’s possible they were fired in private, and they’re publicly resigning to save face.  But here’s another theory.
MPs aren’t allowed to seek commercial employment for six months after resigning from the government.
So hypothetically, if you were going to lose your seat in a general election, you’d want to have resigned six months earlier so you can still get a job.
If that’s what these guys are doing, it suggests we’re on track for a May 2024 election...?

11.12am
Remember Cameron's financial scandal? Quick background here: David Cameron was specifically vice-chair of a £1bn China-UK investment fund.
So let’s see what throwback former leader Iain Duncan Smith thinks of Cameron’s return:
“I am astonished at this appointment. It seems to send a signal to China that we are pursuing business with them at all costs and any costs. Those who have been sanctioned now feel more abandoned than at any time. Those facing genocide and persecution will feel more abandoned than at any time.”
I cannot believe I am about to say this.
But.
I agree with Iain Duncan Smith *spits on floor*
11.50am
Former Tory deputy prime minister Lord Heseltine is asked to sum up the return of Cameron, and says it’s the “clearest signal that the sort of right wing lurch that we’ve seen and the anti-European movement that we’ve seen has been put to bed, and that will get a message across to people”.
Tumblr media
12.13pm
A Tory MP is worried that Cameron’s return will turn back the clock on Brexit and Johnson’s election.
“It is very alarming. I am predicting a softening on small boats, a softening on legal migration. I would not be surprised if the ban on conversion therapy returns.”
... Don’t threaten me with a good time.
Anyway, let’s see how the public actually sees Cameron compared with other PMs!
Tumblr media
Yeah, not sure people will mind if Cameron’s not Boris Johnson.
12.43pm
ITV political editor Robert Peston walks past a minister of state.  The minister’s on the phone, but takes a moment to heatedly shout at Peston, “The PM just sacked me!”
I guess some days are easier than others as a journalist
12.47pm
Therese Coffey resigns as environment secretary!!!!
*choirs of heavenly angels sing*
You'll remember her of course, Tumblrs - she was one of the thugs manhandling people into the 'right' voting lobbies to force their vote on the day of Liz Truss' fracking law. Rumour has it she still has the Whip handle in her ass.
A lot of people seem to be resigning today! But don't be fooled. In almost every case, it’ll be because they were told to resign.  They’ve been sacked, but they resign to save face. A last mercy from their benevolent leader.
My guess: Tessie here is terrible at media skills, so – get rid of her before she hurts general election chances. This, too, is a pattern.
12.52pm
Rachel Maclean sacked as Housing Minister! Fun fact, numbers fans: it took Doctor Who 33 years to make it to eight Doctors, but since the 2019 election, the Tories managed eight Housing Ministers in just under 4 years

trololol
1.15pm
Jeremy Quin quits as Minister for the Cabinet Office.
1.37pm
Times Political Editor Steven Swinford reports that No 10 is struggling to find a new housing minister (owing to rumours the job is cursed). Several people have turned it down, including Jeremy Quin. It is incredible to me that they didn't line someone up before sacking the last guy.
Kemi Badenoch and Michael Gove are apparently unhappy that Rachel Maclean was removed from the role. I for one do not care about the opinions of Kemi Badenoch or Michael Gove.
Tumblr media
2.04pm
Health Secretary Steve Barclay becomes Environment Secretary.  This is effectively a demotion for him. It is our 5th Environment Secretary in four years. Chasing that Housing Minister record! It took 19 years for Doctor Who to have five Doctors
2.15pm
Richard Holden appointed new Conservative Party chairman.
A 2019-intake Tory MP, he led the charge against Sir Keir Starmer over Beergate, which did damage Starmer a bit (albeit not much, given that it turned out Starmer had complied with lockdown regs, and the accusation was nakedly to try and distract from Partygate).  So this appointment looks like more strategy to win the next election - someone not known enough to be hated, with what passes in the modern Tory party for a proven track record.
This could be a sign that the Tories intend to at least try to shore up the Red Wall votes? As unlikely as the Tories are to keep those seats.
That said, Holden’s seat disappears in a boundary change next election, sooooo … we'll see what they do there.
2.24pm
Victoria Atkins appointed Health Secretary, replacing Steve Barclay who’s moved to Environment Secretary. She's a relative unknown but also considered actually competent. Massive middle finger to Steve Barclay
2.37pm
Laura Trott (formerly in pensions) promoted to Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
2.42pm
Science minister George Freeman resigns.
3.18pm
YouGov conducts a snap poll: is the appointment of David Cameron as Foreign Secretary a good decision or a bad decision?
Good decision: 24%
Bad decision: 38%
Don't know: 38%
So that's going well
3.24pm
Greg Hands is made a business minister after losing the Tory chairman role.
John Glen moves from chief secretary to the Treasury to become the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General.
3.39pm
With Cameron being a Lord now, he’ll be based in the House of Lords rather than the Commons.  The most recent Cabinet Minister to be based in the Lords was former Brexit minister Lord Frost, who did weigh in on the matter:
“[T]hough I was not running a whole Department too. I don’t think it works well to have a lead Cabinet Minister answering questions and defending their Department solely in the Lords. The Lords is not a fully party political environment - nor should it be - and voters are owed proper political scrutiny. In our system, that can only happen in the Commons.”
I cannot believe I am about to say this.
But.
I agree with Lord Frost *spits on floor*
The SNP had already called this out, with MP Stephen Flynn claiming, “The UK is not a serious country.”
4.21pm
Conservative MP Lee Rowley appointed the 16th housing minister in the past 13 years. Even counting David Tennant twice, that's more than all the Doctors Who we've ever had, and that took almost 60 years.
5.16pm
Sky News’s Tamara Cohen reports that Sunak sacked Braverman by phone this morning!  Downing Street says there won’t be any exchange of letters between them - this is almost unheard of. Politics runs on paper trails! Everything happens through formal letters! By phone!
It means we’re denied insight into their differences.  But Cohen reckons we’re likely to hear from Braverman on Wednesday, as the Supreme Court rules on the Rwanda scheme.
6.03pm
Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns, former Education Minister, submits no-confidence letter in Rishi Sunak.
It's almost like, in the absence of Dorries, she's decided that someone needs to step up and have a tantrum and that someone might as well be her. It is, actually, an extremely funny letter, as these letters go. Normally they're written with a sort of furious earnestness wrapped in formal language. I presume that Andrea Jenkyns MP, former Education Minister, was aiming for something similar, and the first paragraph manages it. But by the end you sort of start to wonder if this was supposed to be a letter she wrote with her therapist to get her feelings out:
Tumblr media
My favourite line, when pulled in isolation, is "Yes Boris Johnson, the man who won the Conservative Party a massive majority, was unforgivable enough."
Yeah, Andrea babes. You're bang on there.
6.05pm
Esther McVey is appointed as Cabinet Office minister.  Not a full cabinet member, but she will attend cabinet meetings.
This is notable: unlike a lot of today’s appointments, she’s on the right of the party.  Her role will be to represent the government on TV and radio as much as possible, talking about gender/culture/British colonial history issues (i.e. she’s anti-woke and a screaming bigot).
In other words, with Braverman gone, McVey is an offering for the populist right of the party to try to appease them.
Tumblr media
6.15pm
Sunak tweets about the new cabinet, claiming they’ll make “the right decisions for our great country, not the easy ones.”  So it looks like that’s the new slogan, and we're pressing on with austerity
6.27pm
Tim Loughton, a Tory MP on the “One Nation” wing (i.e the David Cameron side) responds to Andrea Jenkyns’s letter of no-confidence by tweeting:
“Where can we submit a letter of no confidence in the Pantomime Dame?”
(It’s Andrea he’s publicly referring to as a pantomime dame there. A lil joke from the Tories for you)
6.31pm
Paul Scully sacked as minister for London. Didn't know that one was a position.
9.43pm
Sunak says that only a two-state solution will allow a new future for Israel/Palestine.  This is, um, not what the Prime Minister of Israel wants.  Who knows whether the Prime Minister of Israel will survive this crisis anyway – but these are big words from Sunak.  Cameron’s influence? Maybe? Interesting either way
10.03pm
And then - PLOT TWIST!!!
According to ITV political editor Robert Peston, a senior government source reveals that Cameron was approached on TUESDAY.
Which means plans were underway to get rid of Braverman not only before the far-right violence on Saturday, but before her anti-police article on Wednesday.  It seems she lost her job not because of what she said about police after all; but because she claimed homelessness was a lifestyle choice.
Well well.
11.05pm
And the day finishes with Andrea Leadsom back in government (as Under Secretary of State for Health and Social Care) which nobody saw coming!  Pretty demeaning to the other 300 Tory MPs who could have been given this.
The final response from numerous Tories: they are feeling jilted and insulted because David Cameron being brought back when he's NOT EVEN AN MP, RISHI suggests that they themselves are not good enough to be in government.
No one tell them

Fool For Love
part 1
~~~
Author’s Note: I have barely been writing anything (I usually write for the Good Omens fandom) since I started playing BG3, but then a few days ago I felt compelled to start on *something* for this fandom that has completely taken over my mind. I usually post on AO3 but for some reason I wanted to post a first teaser-chapter here on Tumblr.
So here it is, my first (unbeta’d) venture into the BG3 fandom. I have no idea where this is going except that the endgame is a happy ending for Tav and Astarion.
~~~
Astarion x reader/Tav
Tags: (Mild?) angst, pining, pining while fucking
Summary: You thought knew what you were doing when you let Astarion into your bed. He doesn’t have feelings for you, and vice versa. Only… Now you do.
~~~
You watch him laugh as Shadowheart leans closer to whisper something in his ear, and the unwarranted jealousy that has your chest aching leaves a sour taste in your mouth. He may be sharing your bed now and then, but you have no right to him. For all you know, he might be spending his other nights with each and everyone in your camp. And that is his prerogative; pretty words aside, Astarion has never promised you anything other than fantastic sex.
A bitter smile tugs at the corner of your mouth. You are sure he thinks he has you wrapped around his finger. That he has convinced you that this means more to him than it actually does. The sigh leaves your lips before you can stop it, but it doesn’t really matter, because none of the others hear you, too busy listening to Gale regaling another story about his ex.
Annoyed with yourself you rise, an excuse prepared on your tongue in case anyone questions your departure from the merriment. The lie remains unspoken and you’re relieved when you can slink into the shadows unnoticed. Relieved, but also perhaps a bit sad. It’s funny, you’ve spent most of your life aiming for anonymity, to stay under the radar. The unexpected friendships you’ve made since the kidnapping has unravelled all of that. Have made you aware of the dark and empty space in your heart you’ve successfully ignored until now.
Except it isn’t empty anymore.
It happened gradually, and without your permission. A dashing pale rogue stealing your affection when you weren’t looking. Because yes, while you know that his only reason for talking his way into your bed was manipulation, he has unintentionally shown you glints of his real self during your time together. He’s a complicated mess, just like yourself, and you love him. Love everything about him, even though it hurts.
So maybe he has you wrapped around his finger after all, because if you had any sense, you would end this thing between you. You should, but you are a selfish being. One day Astarion will realise that he doesn’t need to use sex to feel safe with you, but until that day comes, you will greedily accept every scrap of attention he gives you.
“Pathetic.”
“Talking to yourself, darling? Or have you made another furry friend when I wasn’t looking?” Astarion gracefully — why is that even when he’s pleasantly drunk, the elf manages to appear graceful? — sits down next to you in the grass. “You already have three of them in the camp, surely that’s enough?”
“Three?” You try to gather your thoughts, but it’s difficult when he is this close to you. “Scratch, the owlbear cub, and…?”
“Halsin, of course.”
“Of course,” you repeat dumbly. True, the druid was in his bear form when you first met, but something in Astarion’s demeanour makes you suspect that that isn’t what he meant. Images of Astarion undressing Halsin floods your mind. Halsin is a handsome and powerful man, so it would make sense for Astarion to seduce him too. Just like he had with you.
“Why are we sitting here, by the way?” Astarion shifts to lean on one hand, his face tilted back to take in the full moon. “Wanted a more romantic setting than your tent this time, darling?”
Oh. So you are the chosen one for the night. You were certain it would be Shadowheart, considering.
“Are you alright, Tav?”
For a moment you let yourself believe that the hesitation you hear in his voice is founded on genuine concern. That he truly cares beyond the deep-seated need for self-preservation ingrained in him. But the illusion can only last so long. You know enough of his history not to hold his actions against him, but right now you’re not in a headspace to pretend that everything is fine. And yet, you try.
“Of course I am.” You hold back a flinch when you hear the acid lacing your words like a toxin. It gives too much away, so you do the only thing you can think of. Your hands are already grabbing fabric before you have finished your thought, pulling him closer before he has time to examine your statement too closely. Before he can figure out your lie.
The night air is cool against your skin, a stark contrast to the hot mouth claiming yours. You might regret it tomorrow, but right now, this is exactly what you need. In Astarion’s arms, you can forget everything but him and what he gives you. Around other people he can seem petty and cruel, but when he’s with you like this… this is different.
Or least that’s what you tell yourself. You cling to the illusion that this is special, and you succeed — until you feel yourself leaning your head to the side, offering your neck.
Astarion doesn’t ask it of you, he never does. It’s always you that wordlessly gives him what you believe is what he truly wants.
And this time it reminds you that deep down, this is just a transactional act for Astarion. Nothing else. He doesn’t care about you, not really.
After you’re both sated, you drift off to sleep without meaning to. It has been a taxing day, both physically and mentally, and the last thing you see is Astarion looking down at you with an indiscernible expression in his red eyes. Almost as if you’re a puzzle he can’t figure out. Except that doesn’t make any sense, because to you it feels like he saw right through you the first time you met.
Some time later, you’re vaguely aware of strong arms lifting you from the damp grass. You must’ve made some noise, because you feel a warm breath against your ear.
“Hush, my darling, you don’t want the others to wake up.”
Exhaustion drags you back under, and when you next wake up, you’re in your tent. Alone.
This might be a bit long but the Gwynriel Reddit thread inspired me to let my thoughts flow about Gwyn and Azriel.
P.s. this will include some HOFAS spoilers.
I've said this before but SJM choosing to end Azriel's chapter with Gwyn is a choice. It's the beginnings and the endings of a chapter that authors tend to put a lot of thought into—so her ending the chapter which felt like her nudging readers' to Gwyn's direction is intentional.
Gwyn was not just a random addition, given their interactions throughout ACOSF their scene in the bonus chapter didn't feel out of place (even if readers' didn't expect to see her in it).
People try to invalidate the bonus chapter as much as they can but HOFAS had proved once again that they are important and canon (though I do think SJM and her publisher need to include these in the main books because they are crucial).
"You depend so much on a bonus chapter that a lot of readers don't have access to"
True but that doesn't mean the next book can't fill in the blanks because Azriel and Gwyn were already interacting in ACOSF, so having that romantic development in the next book (and the possible reveal that they're mates) + ON PAGE will still make it up for the readers that never read the bonus chapter. Like, CC4 will definitely bring up the fact that Ruhn and Lidia got married (despite it happening in a bonus).
I always considered the bonus chapter as a teaser for what will happen in the next book, Sarah confirmed she sprinkled little crumbs and I quote "I want to hear all your theories after you read the book and his [Azriel's] bonus scene, the crumbs have all been scattered, little bread crumbs everywhere" and it will keep readers guessing until the next book is out. So you won't know for sure how relevant or significant the bonus chapter is and the crumbs she scattered until you read the next book.
With that being said, Gwyn's cameo in the bonus chapter didn't come without some interesting clues: Azriel's shadows didn't warn him she was around, they were curious about her and she smiled at them, they danced and sang around her, Azriel revealed he sings because she asked, she thanked him with a smile and he felt settled even his shadows calmed.
We never saw his shadows react to anyone the way they did with Gwyn. They seem drawn to her, they danced, they sang, and while there are many theories about it but I absolutely do think if the shadows would be drawn to someone it would be Azriel's mate.
"Azriel and Gwyn had no romantic development and he didn't think about kissing her and all that"
But did every SJM couple start that way? No. And someone expressing the desire to kiss and hook up with someone is not always an indication of endgame (I can count multiple couples who kissed but weren't endgame).
The crumbs we had of them in ACOSF sets the groundwork for a romantic relationship to build in the next book—because who doesn't want to read about them both falling in love on page?
And yes, Sarah is capable of writing a love story from scratch in a single book (e.g., Tower of Dawn). Another example is how ACOMAF started with Feyre being in love with Tamlin and halfway through she started to really fall in love with Rhys.
The whole Azriel/Elain/Lucien triangle is messy as it is, so I don't think SJM would turn it into a square by inserting Gwyn. SJM could've chose not to give Gwyn and Azriel any ties in any way whether it was him rescuing her, him training the Valkyries, and again, including her in his own bonus chapter (hell even her boss:guardian Clotho made an appearance).
But she did and based on her pattern with her male love interests in particular, she doesn't really insert a new female or have females fight over the male love interest. I don't ever see Elain and Gwyn fight over Az, each might have an issue with Az on their own but do I see them argue with each other over Azriel? Absolutely not.
And if you look at the sequence of the scenes in his chapter, it gives a better idea of how it was planned:
1. Starts with Azriel reflecting on his loneliness while everyone left.
2. Elain shows up and they interact, Azriel gives her the necklace and they almost kiss.
3. Rhysand interferes and Az stops the kiss and tells Elain it was a mistake.
4. Az and Rhys argue and ends with Rhys ordering him to stay away from Elain and dismissing him.
5. Az leaves to the House of Wind wanting to work off the frustration but finds that Gwyn already occupied the training ring.
6. Gwyn and Az interact and he leaves the scene feeling settled down and his shadows calmed.
7. He wakes up, goes to the River House and finds Elain's necklace, he pockets it with the intention of returning it to the shop after the snowball fight.
8. Instead of the shop, he goes to the library to ask Clotho to give the gift to Gwyn and refuses to leave with it.
9. Going back and forth, Clotho eventually agrees and said she will tell Gwyn a friend gave it to her and she thanks Az for the joy it will bring to Gwyn.
10. Az leaves but the mention of Gwyn's joy sparked something in him that it brought a slight smile to his face, he buried the image in his chest where it glows quietly.
Both interactions with Elain and Rhys ended with him feeling miserable, but both interactions with Gwyn and Clotho ended with him feeling lighter and better—and to me that shows me how intentional SJM was with creating these parallels (including the shadows skittered back vs the shadows danced and sang).
Instead of Gwyn and Clotho we could've had Mor or Nesta or Amren, but SJM chose Gwyn and Clotho. Like, it could've ended after Rhys's argument but again, it's a writer's choice.
That's why no matter how many times I reread ACOSF my mind doesn't change much because SJM is not that subtle.
AUTHORS NOTE — @family-house-of-m hope this is what you wanted :)
The worst thing about life always happens when you’re doing your best. It happens when you're lying in bed at night left with nothing but your thoughts, when you're finally catching up on chores that had been sitting on a checklist for months, when you finally see the rainbow after the storm. Life doesn’t care about the little things you could be doing, it doesn’t care that you have a load of laundry in the washing machine, or that you're six feet off the ground trying to hang a star from the top of your Christmas tree on a rickety old ladder. It doesn’t care, because the worst thing about life is that it never stops evolving. The days never stop dawning, relationships never stop changing, and the people you know never stop leaving. Leaving. It’s inevitable, but somehow even knowing that fact, doesn’t make it any easier to heal from.
There’s a pile of presents on the ground that will never be opened. There’s a stocking on the mantle that will never be glared at. There’s an empty spot in your bed that will never be warm. There’s a hole in your heart that can never be filled. Life moved on after Natasha Romanoff sacrificed herself, but you stayed there. You stayed in her shadow wearing her clothes and watching her movies, and you held onto her memories because if you didn’t, life would plow right over them. Your other girlfriend hadn’t been much better. She’d hexed an entire town, she only spoke Sokovian – the language that was so similar to Russian that sometimes in the middle of the night you confused her for Natasha – and she only cooked her favorite food. Maybe neither of you had found the strength to move on, but keeping her alive was more important then going to bed knowing you were healing. You could never heal. You’d rather cry through her favorite movie and sleep in her favorite shirt rather than forget about the little things that were already starting to fade.
It wasn’t your first Christmas without her. Last year was the worst. Nothing felt normal, because nothing was normal. Not only was your bed 33.3% colder, but the living room was missing her laugh, the dining room table was missing her plate, and your heart was missing the woman that had seen the best in you when nobody else did. You loved Wanda, and she loved you, but Natasha was the one who brought you together. Natasha was the one that had trusted in you both, and while your love could prevail even after her death, nothing was the same. Your life felt like the barren cold of winter that not even a flower could survive in. There wasn’t snow, there wasn’t rain, there was just dead and empty nothingness that could make anyone go mad.
Christmas was her favorite holiday. You never cared for it much, not until you met her, but she loved everything about it. She loved getting you gifts, and she loved that mistletoe gave her an excuse to kiss you in a room of people, and she loved walking around New York just admiring the lights and inflatables that were put out. When it was Christmas, she wasn’t a superhero, she wasn’t a child assassin or a murderer, she was just a Russian woman who loved to give love to the people that had chosen her. That’s what you loved about the Avengers. They had chosen each other. With the worst parts of themselves beneath a microscope for anyone to scrutinize (and boy did they), they had to choose to see the good, and once they did, there wasn’t anything that could dissuade them from being a supporter and showing up. They would always show up for each other, even after death. You just wish Natasha could see that.
You wish she could see how Tony hung her stocking on the mantle. You wish she could see how Wanda only wears her favorite pajama pants to bed. You wish she could see how Laura and the kids always start voicemails with her name. You wish she could see that she had presents waiting for her beneath the tree. You wish that loving her was enough to bring her back to life. You couldn’t help yourself when you saw them in the shops, but now that they sit beneath the tree never to be opened, it only makes your heartbreak feel fresh. You can still see her broken neck and shattered legs on the bottom of that mountain. You can still see the way blood seeps from her midsection and how it blends in with her red mane that’s sprawled around her, too far away for you to fix it. You can still see the life drain from her eyes, and the very last breath she wheezes out. If love was strong enough to bring back the dead, there’s not a single doubt in your head that Natasha Romanoff would be eternal.
Sighing, you finish putting up the decorations in your bedroom just as Wanda comes in, already dressed for tonight’s event. It had slipped your mind, and even if it hadn’t, you weren’t in the mood to join her and socialize with Tony’s megarich acquaintances who didn’t know or didn’t care that half of your heart was decomposing at the bottom of a mountain on an alien planet, not even able to be properly laid to rest. On nights like these, you hoped to god that she found a way back to you and Wanda, even if her body was far away. You hoped that when you die, she’s waiting with open arms, but you can’t be sure that her soul made it off of Vormir when her body couldn’t. Every Christmas, Tony hosts a gala with all of his billionaire friends, although now it's more of an excuse to get shitfaced then it is to raise money for his projects, but no matter the reason, Wanda would be going alone.
“I’m leaving for Tony’s.” Her voice was silky like a piece of red satin fabric, warming your skin from across the room. She looked like a dream in her floor length black dress, cleavage on display for any man to drool over. You couldn’t help but feel proud of who she had turned out to be despite all of the challenges that came up, and there were plenty. Desperate to feel her, to ground yourself in her embrace, you opened your arms, silently inviting her into your touch. She closed the gap between your bodies in seconds, Natasha’s perfume clinging to her skin. “Are you going to be okay?”
“Yeah.” Your voice quivered, your fingers twitched, but you couldn’t possibly get any closer to her than you already were at this moment. You wanted to bury yourself in Natasha’s scent, wanted to plant your roots and never leave it, but Wanda had to go, and Natasha wasn’t really here anyways. She hadn’t been in two years. “Are you going to be okay? You don’t have to go.”
The gentle smile that pulled at Wanda’s lips had your heart doing backflips in your belly, her beautiful green eyes admiring every naked feature of your face. She clasped your cheeks in her hands, so close you could feel the exhale of her breath against your lips. “YA tebya lyublyu.” Her nose teased yours, nudging against it for the faintest second before her lips were chaining yours to a breathtaking kiss that made the room spin, and for a single second, your heart doesn't ache anymore. She tasted like peppermints, a very specific kind that Tony kept hidden in the top cabinets behind a bag of flour, but you knew that she’d used her magic to steal one, and your heart stuttered thinking about how Natasha would’ve been right at her side being the lookout. It was true that some things never changed, but somehow that saying wasn’t true at all. Everything had changed in the last two years, even these sweet moments, but for Wanda you would push through.
“I love you too.” You whispered when she pulled away, framing her face with your trembling hands for one last intimate embrace before she really had to go. “Come home to me.” You dropped your hands, watching the muscles in her back contract as she walked to the door and grabbed her crossbody bag. Another artifact of Natasha’s, though it hadn’t ever gotten to see the light of day on the redhead's sleek figure. She’d died three days after receiving it, and for two years it had sat in your closet collecting dust. She was all around you. In the clothes that you wore, in the food that you cooked, in the music that made you cry without even being sad. You and Wanda embraced every miniscule thing.
With a flirtatious flick of her hair, Wanda’s green eyes met yours for a final time before she disappeared down the hallway and into the cold night where miracles happened and snow fell. “I always do.” The slip of Sokovian on her tongue made your insides weak, but before you could pull her into bed and ruin the sheets, she was gone.
🎄⁺˚⋆。°✩₊
The compound felt empty as you wandered around aimlessly, wearing nothing but Natasha’s favorite crewneck and a pair of Wanda’s socks. She never liked to frolic around in her comfiest clothes, but since her death, you’d shown it around the entire compound like maybe it would bring her back. It hadn’t, nothing ever would, but still you hoped for a miracle. You hoped that one day she’d come waltzing through the front door wearing a snarky smirk. She’d have a new hairstyle, and a new wardrobe, but she’d still be your Natasha. She’d fall onto your lap, eyes teasing and bright, full of mischief, and the first thing she’d say would be, “Miss me?”. You wouldn’t have the heart to be mad, so you’d just hug her tight and never let go, and things would finally feel right again.
With everybody out for the night, you settled on the couch with one of your favorite books and a mug of tea, throwing a blanket over your bare legs when the outside wind made your bones feel cold. In a moment of weakness, you let yourself get lost in the sight of Christmas around you. The LED bulbs on the tree were a dim white, just bright enough for the sparkles on the wrapping paper to glisten, and when you looked to the left, her empty stocking hung perfectly at an angle. For that one moment, you let yourself believe that she was here, that her arms were wrapping around your belly and she was pulling you into her chest and reading the words of your book over your shoulder, even though she would insist that she wasn’t when you turned your head to ask. You didn’t miss the superhero, the reformed assassin, the hero; you just missed Natalia. The woman who had never been truly loved until she found you.
Pulling yourself away from that fantasy, you opened your book, starting from the beginning. It was a classic story, one that you read every year around this time, but you could never get tired of it. As characters came to life in your head and the words became something more than just black text letters, you blocked out the notifications spilling in on your phone, entirely content with your simple night in, longing for the minute Wanda came home and the two of you could fall into bed together and sleep away the heartache that came with every new sunrise.
You hadn't realized how much time had passed until you slammed the book shut and let your eyes wander toward your phone that was laying face down on the coffee table. You always hated the climax of the book when the main character refused to believe the Prince was in love with her, but right now you couldn’t force yourself through it, so you chucked it to the end of the couch and let yourself have a moment to breathe. Scrolling through your notification, your heart sank to your feet seeing hundreds of texts from Tony, Steve, Clint, Bucky, Maria… everyone you could think of that had been at Tony’s gala. Everyone but one. With frantic eyes and labored breathing, you threw a pair of shoes on and booked it out of the compound into the frozen night, not bothering to slip on a pair of pants or a hat like Natasha would’ve scolded you about.
Tony had rented out the restaurant down the street, and while it wasn’t the closest trek, especially in your lack of clothing, it was quicker than waiting for a response from the world's mightiest heroes. You didn’t have to go far to tell that something was wrong. Firetrucks and ambulances lined the main road, and the breathtaking restaurant that Natasha loved to order in from was left in shambles. The entire exterior was demolished, and in a circle stood your friends, all solemnly hanging their heads. From the distance, you could make out tears on Clint’s cheeks, the lights from the police cars reflecting off of his dampened face all too similarly to how he’d looked on Vormir. Your eyes searched for Wanda in the crowd, coming up blank everywhere you turned. The closer you got to the scene, the easier it was for you to tell that something bad had happened. Tony’s suit was ripped at every seam, Maria’s face was cut up and smeared with blood, Steve looked so defeated that even Bucky’s prompts to pull him away fell on deaf ears. Just when you were about to ask what had happened, close enough to hear Sam sniffling into his sleeve, your entire world fell apart.
Four black wheels almost blended into the asphalt, and they would've had it not been for the large metal structure that sat on top of it. A bulky black bag was wheeled out, haphazardly strapped to the silver metal contraption so it wouldn’t roll onto the ground with any minor bump or jerk. Again, your eyes desperately searched for Wanda, but all you found were the sorry faces of your friends who had already watched your world fall apart once.
“No.” You shook your head, stepping away from Maria when she reached out to touch your shoulder. Your voice trembled, your heart stopped beating, you were sure of it. All the blood in your body rushed away from your head, leaving your hands to tremble as you tried to make sense of what you were seeing, and who you weren’t. You couldn’t see Wanda. You couldn’t find her. How could you not find the only redhead on the property?! There’s no way your beautiful, fiery, stubborn, sensitive girlfriend who was absolutely fine and completely alive four hours ago, was inside of that body bag. There was absolutely no way you had just lost your entire world when you were just barely surviving at all. “No. No no no.”
Dropping to your knees on the asphalt, agonizing sobs ripped past your lips and flooded the block. Tony winced, Clint broke down, Maria tried to console you, but all you could feel was the complete emptiness of nothing. You should’ve gone with her, if she had to die you should’ve died with her. You never should've let her go alone. She never should’ve come at all. Why was this happening? Why could you never have just one good thing?
“No! It’s not her! It’s not h-her!” You sobbed, shoving Maria away from you, violent cries deafening the paramedics who approached cautiously. Everyone knew who you were. Everyone knew that the infamous Black Widow was so comfortable in her sexuality that she had two girlfriends. Now, everyone was aware that only one remained. Wanda Maximoff and Natasha Romanoff were no more, finally reunited but not complete.
You didn’t think it could hurt any worse, you didn’t think life could be any crueler, but then the words to Natasha’s favorite Christmas song started playing through the broken restaurant speakers, and Wanda’s face so full of life and brightness dawned on you. Just last night she had sung these words so goofily, twirling you around your dark bedroom in matching pajamas. Just last night she had been alive.
i’ll be home for christmas, you can plan on me. please have snow and mistletoe, and presents by the tree. christmas eve will find me where the love light gleams. i'll be home for christmas, if only in my dreams
The assault at Sangravah happened in early ACOMAF (before Elain's existence even came into picture for Azriel - 3 days before he even got to meet Feyre)... So I don't get how G and Az are supposed to be mates when he's had all that time to feel something?
There's the parallel of Rhys' father feeling his mating bond snap into place the moment he met his mother being assaulted.
"One look at her, and he knew what she was..." (ACOMAF, ch. 16)
Or Rhys himself feeling the bond when Feyre was being tortured by Amarantha...
"And I knew as I picked up that knife to kill her... I knew right then what you were. I knew right then that you were my mate." (ACOMAF, ch. 54)
Or Cassian simply meeting Nesta. "Say what I've guessed from the moment we met" he breathed. What I knew from the first time I kissed you. What became unbreakable between us on Solstice night." (ACOSF, ch. 62)
Bonus from Nesta: “‘From the moment I met you, I wanted you more than reason. From the moment I saw you in my house, you were all I could think about. And it terrified me. No one had ever held such power over me."
Or even Lucien after Elain was Made and maybe even while being thrown into the Cauldron... I don't even need a quote for them, but even Lucien knew and has tried seeking Elain out after the incident.
It's stated in the books and shown again and again that it's the males who are deeply affected by the mating bond. That they can know from the moment they meet. They all in one way or another sought after the females. Even Nesta and Feyre felt something before they knew or opened themselves up to it. And since they all met - They. Couldn't. Stay. Away.
But there's like... no hint of it from Az after stumbling upon G? Like he just literally stumbles upon her - never actually even actively seeking her out through all those years? He hasn't even actively tried to stay away? He's just... *crickets*
It's been Gwyn making noises and attracting his attention through all their scenes together. It was Gwyn asking for dagger lessons. It was 'Gwyn' making Az the new ribbon (whatever that means). And it's Az's shadows reacting to Gwyn, not Az himself. But there's no real hint that Gwyn feels anything romantic for him. There's barely any interactions between them without linking it to her assault in Sangravah and her growth from it.
Besides Az's shadows reacting to G, and that ribbon moment that everyone deems so pivotal when Az realises what it means for the Valkyries (that he's had a hand in training) and maybe even reflects upon Gwyn's character development and therefore what the ribbon means for Gwyn - which made me feel proud too, and that's how I interpreted it - but I can't see an undeniable sign of it being a mating bond anywhere.
I thought at first that mayhaps he was giving her space because of the assault, but then the BC came and he went "It was too late to bank without appearing like he was running," and then "He wouldn't go so far as to call Gwyn a friend,". (ACOSF, Azriel's Bonus Chapter)
Let's not even mention the part where Gwyn was actually in danger (no matter how capable she was at that point), while Cassian was going ballistic at Nesta being in danger, but Az is all like "Let's go save Eris". Eris who both he and Cassian hates. Eris who Az himself nearly killed during the HLs' pre-war meeting (before he exhibited actual mate behaviour and sought and risked his life to save Elain who's not even his mate). But no, he gave just as much or even less action and reaction about Gwyn as Tamlin gave when Feyre was UTM.
And I was like...
How are they mates? Where's the mate behaviour every male - mated or not - in Prythian has exhibited throughout the books? Why did I keep seeing things about them being mates and endgame?
The only hint between them that I could even begin to consider it from is the second to last sentence in Az's BC.
"But Azriel tucked away the thought, consciously erasing the slight smile it brought to his face. Buried the image down deep, where it glowed quietly."
But I basically have the same interpretation about that as this post from @merymoonbeam. (Although I'm still neutral about the lightsinger theory, it's the most interesting take.)
Because again.
Why hasn't Azriel felt/shown anything or actively sought her out or even actively stayed away if he's known Gwyn since Sangravah?
If they're mates, shouldn't he have felt and shown something - like that glow - and Gwyn be the one to snap him out of his 'love' for Mor before he even had the chance to meet Elain? If he's just lonely and jealous of his brothers having mates then... Why has he barely noticed or sought out Gwyn who's supposed to be his mate?
What, he had to wait until his shadows reacted to her to even think about her?
I'm not an expert at analysing things - I wouldn't even say I'm good at interpreting things especially when I've got my rose-tinted glasses on, so/but I'm always open to being wrong and changing my mind accordingly.
But/so convince me with actual canon and not just your biased opinions, delusions, self-insertions, or ships.
SJM doesn't write her men as fuckbois, end of argument. This is romantasy, this is not real life situationships.
She writes her men as prideful beings, unwilling to kneel for anyone but their woman.
She writes her men as desperate for their female counterparts, willing to wait centuries to even earn a second glance.
So this concept of "Oh, Azriel & Elain don't actually want each other, they're just trying to blow off steam." Is ridiculous.
Regardless of their past, their background, the second they meet their love interest they fall in line and are head over heels for that ONE woman. It's not finicky love. It didn't just pass over the course of 2 pages.
SJM empowers the women more and gives them previous love interests. Feyre had Tamlin & Isaac Hale. Nesta had half of the seedy bar crowd in Velaris (no shade, go off city girl) & Tomas Mandray. Elain had Graysen.
You know what their past flings didn't get?
A POV.
We never got a POV from Tamlin, despite him being a main character and love interest in ACOTAR. We didn't get a POV from Tomas or random dude in Nesta's apartment. We didn't get a POV from Graysen.
You know which MMCs did get a POV?
Rhysand.
Cassian.
Azriel.
That in itself should be enough evidence that whatever happening between Elriel isn't just a fling, as the antis try to make it out to be.
Rhysand got a POV when he was endgame with Feyre. Cassian got a POV before he was endgame with Nesta. Now Azriel gets a POV, and there's only one sister left....
Why would SJM give Azriel a whole POV otherwise? Why not just tell it from Elain's POV?
And no it's not because that would reveal how much she apparently secretly loves Lucien while she's ready to drop her panties for Shadow Boy
That bonus chapter in ACOSF was not just SJM being in a silly goofy mood and deciding to write fuckboy Az as a new part of the story.
Also - all these people clamoring "wELL hAvE yOu rEaD tHe aZrIeL bOnUs cHaPtER?" They're just trynna use each other - Have YOU read the bonus chapter?
What part of that longing and tension and pining gave you lust and incel behavior? This man feels so undeserving of her, he thinks even touching her is to taint her goodness.
That shit poetic af.
He's out here being Azriel Allen Poe, describing her hair like dawn and begging on his knees to taste her and y'all are out here thinking "nah, they're just a fling."
Do you spout poetry and are tortured every waking moment with the love you hold for your situationship? If so - I don't think they're a situationship anymore bestie.
And Elain also wanted his hands on her. The antis trying to spin "oh she was indifferent to it, she could have been fine with or without him" is so ridiculous because literally she says yes. OFFER AND PERMISSION. She is aroused when he touches her NECK. Like come on, how down bad do you have to be for someone to get turned on when they touch your NECK. And, on top of that, she feels hurt when Azriel says this is a mistake.
Would someone only trynna get laid feel hurt over that? Would they avoid the other person after if they just wanted to blow off steam? No. She wanted Azriel just as badly. And anyone who tries to say otherwise, is just flat out not reading the words on the page.
When will Eluciens & Gwynriels quit trying to cheapen what is canon in order to make their ships work? SJM doesn't write fuckboi men. That's not up for debate.
And the fact that they'd rather have Az be using Elain (or I vice versa) for sex than actually hold feelings for her says a lot.
I don't have anyone to talk to about this fic idea I was to put in a oneshot, so I'm gonna tell you. (Maybe others get inspired, who knows)
Post NWH Spider-Man fights some magic user (that Dr Strange should have handled, Peter keeps telling himself) and is blasted by something. Spell, missile, who knows, Peter surely didn't get a chance to see before he was knocked out.
When he wakes up next, he's in a private hospital room, hooked up to one too many tubes. Using his enhanced hearing, Peter can hear people talking outside the door. Doctors, he assumes. And they're talking about a 14 years old kid that's been brain dead for a week after a car crash him and his family were in. Peter thinks "poor parents, having to say goodbye to their child".
Thing is, Peter is that kid. And the parents that are suppose to come say goodbye to their child are the Starks.
What is happening?
!!!!!
okay. I could see a few things here.
Peter, accidentally jumping to a different universe where he's the Starks bio kid. And all the pain of trying to decide whether he should tell them, or just settle into his new life
He assumes they're doctors, but they're not. They're SHELD agents, proposing various potential cover-up stories
Mistaken identity. There is a young kid that was in a car crash. the "car crash" was the magic villain, hurling a car (and its occupants) at peter. Peter knocked out, the villain sunk to the shadows to bide its time, and the Starks took in the occupants of the car to supervise their care while the try to figure out who the magic villain was. Think is, Peter was in civilian clothes (dont ask why, idk) and they think he was one of the occupants. The trauma caused the other family members to be disoriented, and they havent yet pointed out that Peter isnt one of them. Now peter has to figure out how to either escape, or comvince the others that he was always with them. While the big bad waits...
Tony was assumed dead at Endgame, and nobody ever told Peter that he secretly recovered. They never told anyone, except Morgan and Pepper. But, Peters "death" brought tony out of the shadows. Suddenly, an Iron Man everyone thought was gone was fighting this magic user full-force, and Peter was swept away into recovery. Everyone else tried to wrap their minds around tony being alive- and for 10 days, Tony tried to wrap his mind around Peter being dead... until he woke up.
Imagine Ellen calling Sam and Dean after your family is killed: Pt. 1
Tumblr media
"Y/n didn't tell us."
"Dean, they're not - it's not good." Ellen wasn't scared of a lot of things, but you spooked her pretty good. You showed up a few weeks ago. She'd known you since you were a kid, and your family were regulars. This time, though, something was different. Off. A large scar ran across the middle of your neck, deep and thick and shiny. You passed notes, refusing to talk. When she tried to converse with you, she was met with cold looks or thousand yard stares. You'd disappear for days and come back covered in blood and dirt, and god knows what else. A few times, you came back hurt but refused to be touched. If anyone came near you, you'd scare them off. One morning, while you were gone, she overheard what happened.
"We're on our way." When she told him, Dean's stomach sank. It was three months ago. Everyone came to visit, celebrating your toddlers' third birthday. You were finally settled down in a new house. The thought of going back to hunting hadn't even crossed your mind. It had been years since you were active. But your parents and siblings were. That was enough of a reason for them. You tried to fight them off, you really did, but there were too many of them. They were too strong. The screaming, the begging, the blood. You tried to bargain your life for your child's. They wouldn't listen. One by one, until it was your turn. You weren't supposed to survive. You were okay with dying. Relieved, even. But a neighbor called for help, concerned about the yelling, and they made it in time to save you.
"Don't tell them I called you." Ellen looks around the empty bar. There was no funeral, no wake, just a series of empty coffins. You salted and burned the bodies. You didn't want them coming back and suffering more than they had to. The house burned with them. Since then, you've been trying to track them. Ash has been helping you. He knew better than to joke around with you like he did others. Truthfully, you made him queasy. Your parents, your siblings, and your baby. An entire family murdered. The thought made Dean sick. Word would have spread quickly through the hunters, but you weren't saying anything. You didn't want anyone's help or sympathies. You wanted those monsters dead.
"What kind of thing would do this?" Dean heard you got out, they all had. He felt oddly sentimental about that: getting out for a better life for your kid, doing what none of your parents had. It gave him hope this life wasn't endgame. That was all gone now. He had a terrible feeling if they couldn't get through to you, this would be the last thing you ever did. Your brothers and sisters were all older. So, you became friends with Sammy. Dean babysat a few times while the rest of them were out. You were always sweet, even a little soft. You were afraid of your own shadow. Cried over lost dogs and insects with missing legs or bent wings. He wasn't the only one who worried you weren't made out for this life. That person was dead now, though.
"That's the problem. It was hunters."
Disclaimer: This post has no real point its honestly just a big old anti E/riel post!
''The comments SJM made about Elucien are outdated!''
What about comments about feysand and nessian in the SAME post?
She talks about all 3 of the pairings 2 times. Together.
WHY does no understand that when book 1 came out, acomaf was already written and Elucien and feysand were confirmed mated pairs.
When acomaf was already released for a while, SJM made comments about nessian,feysand,elucien in a post while Acowar was already written.
She was drafting ACOSF to see nestas story and how it would go and considered a threesome scene with Az,cas,and nes while elriel was supposed to be endgame?
FoUR boOKs of FOreSHadOwinG and she had Mor AND Az pins during acomaf? Four books of FOreSHadOwinG when she had pins for Elucien?
Four books of FOreSHadOwinG YET she considered a threesome scene even though Az x mor was supposedly ditched so elriel could happen IN Acowar?
All tho then, SJM flunked the idea because in comes Azriels new love interest, Gwyn. Keep in mind Nesta had those thoughts about Az BEFORE she saw him and Gwyn interact. So much for Nesta being your OG elriel shipper. She never thought of Az like that again!
Also have y'all ever realized that in order for Elnotreal to be endgame, almost every single elriel theory has to come true?
1.Elain and Luciens bond HAS to be fake-she can't just reject the bond. I mean she can she has all rights DUH but it will follow her for her entire life. She will constantly feel the protectiveness over her mate. Randomly defending them. Jealousy,passion and worry. Is that what you what for your girl? You want her to struggle with her relationship with Azriel while the bond still follows her? Also Azriel, he will never be at peace.
2.Elriel HAs to be mates-Azriel wants a mate. He says ''how come the third was given to another'' he doesn't even specify Lucien and Elains names just feels that he was meant to be with the third and is confused why they were given to another. Elain could be anyone. Lucien could be anyone. He wants a mate. Elain looks at him with trust, gives him gifts while got Lucien nothing and allows him permission to kiss her YET Az is still jealous and insecure. Still holds a immature grudge against Lucien. No matter how hard they can try, Elain will never be what he truly wants and needs. A mate who sees him for everything he is.The cold and warm the good and bad the soft and brutal the ugly and beautiful the dark and light. That's not Elain. His shadows hide from her and he practically hates himself around her. Even when his shadows gather around him when he heard about Elain/nestas fight THAT was a negative impact which put him in a sour mood. The shadows never react in a positive way or a new way with Elain. Its either negative or something that already happened with mor. His shadows around Gwyn are playfull and calm and so is Az at the same time! He doesn't even know how he feels about Elain. He still can't decipher his feelings for Mor. He claims she is his but has not thought of anything other then sex with her for over a year. With Elain and Mor, he is stuck at Point A. What's important about a relationship is that you KNOW how you feel about the other. You can identify what feeling they spark in you.
Questioning your religion isn't a good thing. Knowing who you are with YOUR person is a good thing.
3.Vassien HAS to happen-SJM loves Lucien. It's clear as day. Ships wars aside, he will end up happy. He has suffered for centuries while az has had the comfort of his inner circle for centuries. He will end up happy and that's final. So HE HAS to be with vassa if its not Elain even though its hard for mated males specifically to get over the bond and the fact that he is uninterested in anybody but Elain. Even though he compares vassa with Feyre.
4.Lucien has to turn human or Vassa has to be Fae-This is so straight up I can not even. SHE will die century's before him if they remain as they are. Is Luciens happy ending 60 years or so? Then what? She just does? And no hate to vassa is Lucien just going to stick with an 80 year old orrr can't vassa stick with another 80 year old? (jurian) anyways so Vassa has to be fae even though she is desperate to reclaim her human body, land and kingdom. Or Lucien has to human even though he has an important role in the day court.
5. if no vassien than Lucien has to be a bad character-Because if feysand happened while Tamlin was being the most perfect guy ever, wouldn't we all pity him and hate feysand? So if Elriel happens and vassien does not, Lucien has to be a bad character or at least an asshole so we can move clearly support Elriel. Because without Lucien, there is no Elriel. The only reason they have any conflict is because of Elain and Luciens mating bond. Like respectfully Azriel needs to get out. You have your own conflict. He can't eat her coochie because of LUCIEN VANSERRA! Anyways if Elriel happens and vassien does not, SJM will have to set up Lucien to be some arrogant pushy male while she portrays Az to be the respectful hero not that I will ever fall for that trap. Not that I will even read an elnotreal book.
6.Jurian has to betray the BOE-Hello? He has so much potential with Vassa. HE is human. HE lost his kingdom while Vassa is desperate to reclaim her human like including her kingdom. THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME VISION FOR THE FUTURE. Two sides of the same coin? At eachothers throats? If Elriel then vassien then what the hell is the boe? What do y'all think Jurian will just chill by himself while Vassa and Lucien are in the day court or fae lands? NO! Like elriels assume, he has to betray them because at least majority are smart enough to know that Lucien is a key player.
7.Gwyn has to be a lightsinger or evil.-Its either its her power or shes his mate. Elriels want it to be specifically a light singer or even more so evil and some believe they do not need it. Like his chest is quite literally sparking just like Ruhn with Lidia HER MOST RECENT mating pair. He feels calm around her. Like bryce w hunt,nesta w Cass,nesryn w sartaq,chaol w yrene, aelin w Rowan etcccc! he can't simply continue to look at her with admiration and carry an image of her eyes lighting up while being with Elain. Elriels say the spark is her power which okay whatever but when you talk about the image he keeps tucked down of Gwyns eyes lighting up and it glows? Downright saying Gwyn is evil and she planted it there. Unless your saying Clotho is evil? The only things Sjm can make true are 1. Gwyn is evil and she planted that to lure Az 2.Clotho is evil and planted the image to trick him. 3.Gwyn is simply Azriels mate. Which is not bold to assume and come true considering everybody assume ruhnlidia was mates and boom.
8.E/riel as elriels say will adopt a kid.-Its not even an insult to Elain or Azriel when I say they can't have kids. Even for Nesta it was a risk but now that she made a deal for her and Feyre it isn't. Also nesta isn't even ready for kids.SJM said recently that her ideal happy ending is getting married and having lots of kids not to mention Azriel wants kids? This isn't putting down Elain. They can still adopt but here is the thing thats a theory and in order for SJM to give her ideal happy ending they would need to adopt a kid. My whole point of these are the fact that fan theories almost never come true. Almost all of them has to desperately happen for e/riel to make sense and that simply not realistic.
Look at all the crap that has to happen for elnotreal
The only theories I have for Elucien and gwynriel is how the already revealed plots will play out. I don't have to dismantle the whole fucking series because of their endgame. The only thing with elucien and gwynriel that needs to happen is time and healing. No silly blood duel or evil lightsingers. No betrayal or cauldron was wrong crap. There is no way SJM will take our attention away from the real plot to say ''the cauldron was wrong! Brb koschei let us deal with this!''
soriku endgame: an imagining
OKAY WELL HERE IT IS
TEN WHOLE PAGES OF HOW SORIKU ENDGAME MIGHT ACTUALLY PLAY OUT
i was rewatching vin play RE2 and fsr this invaded my thoughts and wouldnt leave
this is barely proofread and i reused a lot of the same words/phrases BUT its just meant to be an outline/abridged version so keep that in mind
(if i got any lore wrong tho pls let me know)
btw if you dont want to read this on tumblr for whatever reason, heres a link to the google doc
note: this is going off the assumption MoM saw everything (or at least everything soriku) through the gazing eye
scene is quadratum probably. master of masters (or whoever the bad guy in kh4 is) has sora and riku caught in a bad situation (for temporary visuals im picturing something similar to the dark guardian restraining aqua and ven in kh3)
sora and riku are struggling to break free, while the MoM just laughs. some kh dramatic banter occurs, before MoM changes the subject and starts monologuing (with sora and riku probably interjecting here and there)
MoM: [to sora] you still havent figured it out yet, have you?
MoM: dont you ever wonder why rikus heart holds as vast of a darkness as it does?
MoM: its not because of jealousy, or ansem, or even his desire for strength since you were children.
MoM: no, its much simpler than that.
MoM: remember that dream you had, sora? before the islands were destroyed?
MoM: there was a voice speaking to you, from deep within your heart:
MoM: 'the closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes.'
MoM: well, the road goes both ways, kid. the deepest of darknesses can only come from the brightest of lights.
sora: wh-what are you saying?
MoM: its been in front of all along, but you were too blind to see it.
cut to voiceless flashbacks of all the times sora encountered the brightest light: when receiving the keyblade, when almost pulled out of sleep by the memory of aqua on DI, during the dive to heart at the beginning of kh3 (assuming it really happened and wasnt just for gameplay purposes), and after using the power of waking at the KBG (the tunnel scene)
sora looks at riku, then back at MoM. riku is grimacing.
sora: that… that was… that was rikus light?
MoM: bingo!
MoM: but theres even more to it than that.
MoM: theres another force of power in this universe that keeps light and dark in harmony
sora: another…?
MoM: you feel an unfathomable depth of it in your heart for, well, pretty much everyone youve ever met.
MoM: what lies in rikus heart, however, comes from the same place, but is also very, very different. its something you claim to not understand, even though youve encountered it many times during your adventures.
rikus eyes widen and he tries to interject, but the MoM physically stops him; sora calls out for him
MoM: its more than just friendship. its hearts that are really, truly connected between two people.
MoM: think about it. think about all the times when everything seemed hopeless, but something, something, kept the bad guys from winning. it wasnt light.
cut to voiceless flashbacks between many of the disney couples sora has met: the beast arriving at hollow bastion out of sheer force of will in his search for belle, flynn sacrificing himself for rapunzel and her tears bringing him back to life (some shit with will/elizabeth and sam/quorra too maybe idk), and finally, herc gaining his strength back as he rescues megara from styx, followed by herc saying, 'people always do crazy things when theyre in love.'
sora stares ahead at nothing in particular, before wincing in pain; suddenly, a forgotten memory surfaces in his mind (if the convo with NS confirms he hasnt completely forgotten, then its the key details that have been missing):
rikus sacrifice in the KBG
riku calls out for him and struggles, but MoM just laughs so more.
MoM: there, now its coming back to you. and that wasnt the only time riku sacrificed everything for you, yknow, although it was probably the most heroic instance. remember him taking on ansems form to beat roxas? and his dive into your heart to wake you from slumber, despite the tremendous danger? you only met her briefly, but one of the princesses of heart experienced something very similar.
MoM: aurora. maleficent placed a curse on her when she was a baby, causing the princess and the rest of the kingdom to fall into a deep sleep on her 16th birthday. but the heir to a nearby kingdom, prince phillip, valiantly fought his way to the castle, and woke up the sleeping beauty– through a kiss. a kiss, of true…
MoM trails off and looks at riku, then back at sora, expectantly. riku is still struggling to free himself before the truth is revealed, but its no use.
sora stares off again, before looking MoM in the eyes.
sora: … love…?
MoM does jazz hands and poses.
MoM: ding ding ding ding! we have a winner! it only took you, what, 12, 13 years to figure it out? honestly, i just couldnt stand watching it go on for any longer.
MoM: but, hey, i still have my honor. if im wrong, im more than happy to apologize.
MoM turns to riku then.
MoM: well? am i wrong, riku?
riku doesnt respond, and MoM sighs dramatically.
MoM: still no answer? okay, guess well have to do this the hard way.
MoM starts hurting sora, causing him to cry out in pain while riku watches helplessly
MoM: come on, riku! do it! use your true strength! unleash the power hidden within your heart!
sora gasps and winces, barely getting out rikus name
suddenly, theres a bright flash of pink energy (maybe rikus eyes also turn dream eater pink too?)
(if the power of love is too cheesy even for kh, then maybe its a black and white darkness/light combo attack)
riku breaks free of whatever MoM did to him, and then channels the energy through his arm, blasting it through soras restraints.
unfortunately, sora was being held in the air, and starts to fall– but in the blink of eye, riku is there to catch him in his arms.
MoM laughs in triumph and draws back slightly.
MoM: there we go!
MoM then shrugs.
MoM: well, this was fun, but ive got places to be. and im sure you two have a lot to talk about. toodles!
MoM disappears, leaving sora and riku in stunned silence.
after a moment, riku sets sora down and turns away from him, avoiding soras gaze.
sora meanwhile takes a second to catch his breath, before staring at riku with wide eyes.
sora: r… riku… is… is that...? is that really… how you feel?
riku clenches his fists at his sides and stays turned away. after a pause, he responds.
riku: … even if it is, it doesnt matter.
sora: what do you mean?
riku: i know… im not the one for you.
riku takes a deep breath.
riku: … when you were put to sleep for a year to fix your memories, some of them found their way into xion. they happened to be your most important memories– the ones you couldnt wake up without.
riku: those… were your memories of kairi. and xion took on her appearance because of them.
sora is stunned, only having been vaguely made aware of what happened in that year.
sora: k… kairi?
riku nods solemnly.
riku: yeah. and the only reason your memories got messed with in the first place is because the organization forced namine to make herself the person most important to you, instead of kairi.
sora pauses.
sora: you mean… castle oblivion.
riku nods again.
sora watches, before feeling a pain in his heart and grabbing at his chest instinctively.
underneath his hand, he can feel the cold metal of his crown necklace.
and thats when it finally clicks.
everything blurs, and theres a sudden rush of memories.
(maybe a memory sequence that you actually play through?)
sora, holding kairis wayfinder in castle oblivion. suddenly, the memory gets static-y, like during soras memory restoration.
cut to namine confessing to sora shes not the girl he cares about– but every time the word is feminine, its distorted by video static. (this is how we fix the aitsu thing)
"no. the g̸͓̦͙̫̮̦̠͗͐͗̊͑̕͝i̷͖̝̝̱̐ͅͅŗ̸̄̆̓̆̊̄̿l̶̮͉̦͓͔̹̀̂͗͝ͅ you care about...the one who was always with you... its not me. its ḧ̴̳͔̻̾̇e̵͚͂̀r̸̺̣̠̓̂̀̚."
cut to namine speaking to sora before he goes to sleep.
“but theres another promise you made—a promise to someone you could never replace. s̵̹̀͗͜h̷͇͇͌̆̐e̷̡̛̱'̷̦̆s̵̫͖̦̄̈̄ your light. the light within the darkness. if you can remember h̷̼̼̜͚͒e̸̢̡̤̹̬͖͐̒͒̾r̸͓̣̜̼̜̠͚͂̋̃...all the memories lost in the shadows of your heart will come into the light."
cut to a flashback of repliku talking about their shared promise. again, the feminine words are indecipherable.
"there was a meteor shower one night when s̶̳̄͑̆̅̆͗h̴͍̞͖͙͑̔̋̈́̎̈̾ę̷̧̰̰̖̝͆̆̕̚ and i were little... n̸̨̙̼͑̽ả̴̗͕̮́͊͝m̴̻̳͚̒i̸̳̟͑n̶̡̥̋̑̌é̸͍̦͑͐͋́ got scared and said, what if a shooting star hits the islands? so i told ḧ̷̡̬̽̅͆̊ė̸̙̩̠̥̿̃̚͠r̶̛̥̻̖̉̾̽͝, if a shooting star comes this way, ill protect you! and then—"
cut back to the memory pod.
"look at the g̴̬͛̄̚͘ŏ̴̞̙̰̍͂̀ö̴̘̥̗̱̐͋͆ͅď̷̨͙̙̩̓́͝ ̸̢̋̈́̂̚ļ̷̯̥̲̪̐̋͌̾̚ṵ̵̼̥̥͖̎c̸̱̟̹̚ķ̸̭̱̖̓̇ͅ ̷͇̳̃̑́͑͐͜ͅc̸̢̤̈̈́̊̚̕h̵̙̗̓͊̾ͅą̷̣̮̞̾̈́r̶̜̜͓̥̀́͋͝m̸̺̖͈̖͓̊̀̕. i changed its shape when i changed your memory. but when you thought of ẖ̴͚̙̆ȅ̴̡̛̞̲̥̼̋͐r̸̹̱̐, it went back to the way it was."
finally, a few more lines from namine.
"remembering one thing leads to remembering another, and then another... your memories are connected, like links in a chain. those same chains are what anchor us all together. i dont destroy memories. i just take apart the links and rearrange them. you still have all your memories."
cut back to sora in the real world. everything is still blurry, but now rikus voice can be heard in the background calling for him, distorted.
and then, a flash of light.
nighttime. its still. everything is quiet and peaceful.
young sora and riku are walking back from the beach.
suddenly, theres a bright streak across the sky.
sora and riku both gasp.
then, another. and another. and another.
the night of the meteor shower.
riku watches the sky in amazement– until he feels a tug on his arm.
he glances at his side and sees sora, utterly terrified and clinging on to him for dear life.
sora: wahhhh!! r-r-riku, the sky is falling!!
riku laughs.
riku: no, those are shooting stars. theyre way up high in the sky.
sora however is not convinced, and keeps shaking as tears start to well up in his eyes.
sora: b-but…! theres so many of them. and theyre so fast!! what if a shooting star hits the islands?!
the reality of soras mood finally sets in, and riku is left staring as he tries to think of what to do.
hanging from his pocket is his wooden sword.
the words of the man with the real sword echo in his mind:
“no more borders around, or below, or above, so long as you champion the ones you love."
riku grabs his sword then and holds it up to the sky as he looks at sora, courage glinting in his eyes.
riku: if a shooting star comes this way, ill protect you! ill hit it right back into outer space!
sora sniffles as he watches riku swing the sword around.
sora: r-really?
riku nods his head confidently.
riku: i will. i promise!
after a moment of thought, riku reaches into his pocket and pulls out a silver chain with a crown dangling from the end.
riku: here. take this. i found it the other day.
with the magic of cutscene, riku somehow turns the chain into a necklace, and then reaches over to hang it around soras neck.
riku: whenever you get scared, all you have to do is look at this, and remember that ill always be there to protect you. no matter what.
tears run down soras face as he looks at the necklace.
the voice of the strange girl theyd met before rings through his mind:
"so then if something happens, and riku is about to get lost—or say, he starts wandering down a dark path alone—you make sure to stay with him and keep him safe. thats your job, sora, and im counting on you to do it, okay?"
sora gulps and then reaches out to grab rikus free hand in both of his own. riku is surprised by this.
sora: ill… ill protect you too! i-i know im not as strong as you, but ill… ill try! i promise!
riku is taken aback for a moment, before he smiles gently at sora.
riku: … thanks, sora.
afterward, a multitude of quick flashbacks to all the times sora and riku protected each other, culminating in seeing the KBG sacrifice one more time.
fade to back.
in a hotel room (or smth similar), sora suddenly sits up straight in a bed, heart beating rapidly.
sora: riku!
(paralleling when riku called out for him after waking up from the dive into his heart in ddd)
riku has been seated at the edge of the bed, waiting and worrying. when he realizes soras awake, he scoots down the bed towards him.
riku: sora! youre okay!
after catching his breath, sora looks around the room, confused.
sora: … what… happened?
riku: you passed out, so i brought you here. how are you feeling?
sora puts a hand to his head, grimacing slightly at his pulsing headache. but that doesnt matter right now.
sora: im… im fine. listen, riku… i saw… i saw some of the things that happened at CO.
rikus eyes widen.
riku: you did?
sora: yeah. i saw you… well, a version of you. and namine. namine…
sora looks into rikus eyes.
sora: she… she was wrong. or… maybe i was wrong, and she just played along for my sake…
riku: huh? what are you talking about?
sora swallows as his voice starts shaking, just a little.
sora: kairi… kairi wasnt the one most special to me. you were. i remember… i remember the night of the meteor shower.
sora clutches at the crown necklace.
sora: all this time, id thought id remembered everything important… but i forgot about it. [sighs] im sorry, riku
riku stays quiet for a moment, before putting on a forced smile.
riku: its fine, sora. we were little kids.
sora frowns.
sora: but… you never forgot, did you?
riku shrugs, and theres a moment of silence between them, before riku speaks again.
riku: maybe i was the one most important to you back then, but its not the same now. thats alright. im just happy to be your friend. i know how you feel about kai-
sora suddenly moves forward, closer to riku, now yelling as he cuts him off.
sora: i get to decide how i feel, riku! its my heart!
riku is taken aback at the shouting, and stares in shock. sora realizes hes gotten loud, and takes a moment to calm down.
dearly beloved starts to play in the bg
sora: i… i know now. maybe it took me a long time, but… i figured it out. the person most important to me… all along, its been you.
riku freezes up in pure shock. he cant believe what hes hearing. hed talked himself out of hoping for this day long ago.
sora finally smiles again.
sora: youre the one i love.
(paralleling prince eric with ariel)
BOOM FIREWORKS MAGIC SORIKU ENDGAME
riku is absolutely speechless, staring at sora with his mouth agape.
sora gives riku a sheepish grin, now growing nervous at the lack of a response.
sora: and… im the one you love… right?
after a second, riku returns soras smile– and, for the very first time in the series, starts crying.
he nods, shakily.
riku: … yeah. yeah, i do. i always have.
riku wipes at his eyes to stop crying, but its futile. the tears flow even harder.
sora feels himself start crying, too, but hes laughing at the same time.
he pulls riku into a hug, grabbing his upper back tightly.
without any hesitation whatsover, riku returns the embrace, holding onto sora in the same way.
Is Gwynriel a crackship?
Tumblr media
The characters don't have chemistry -
Gwyn threw Azriel a withering stare as she strode past him. “See you tomorrow, Shadowsinger,” she tossed over a shoulder.
Az stared after her, brows high with amusement.
Azriel couldn't help his soft chuckle.
Pure amusement glittered in her stare.
He offered her a crooked smile.
Gwyn asked Az, her teal eyes bright, “What do we get if we finish the course?”
Az’s shadows danced around him. “Since there’s no chance in hell any of you will finish the course, we didn’t bother to get a prize.”
Boos sounded. Gwyn lifted her chin in challenge. “We look forward to proving you wrong.”
"I blame Cassian for this. He's too busy making eyes at Nesta to notice such mistakes these days."
Azriel laughed. "I'll give you that".
Gwyn smiled broadly. "Thank you".
Azriel dipped his head in sketch of a bow, something restless settling in him.
Cassian glanced over at Az, but his attention was fixed on the young priestess, admiration and quiet encouragement shining from his face.
The characters never interact -
Azriel had winnowed her and Cassian here after training, but hadn’t lingered. Apparently, Gwyn wanted him to go over dagger handling, so he’d left them with a promise to return in an hour.
"You're turning the blade a fraction as it comes parallel to the ground," Azriel explained, drawing his Illyrian blade from down his back. "Watch." He slowly demonstrated, rotating his wrist where she did. "You see how you open it right here?" He corrected his position. "Keep your wrist like that. The blade is an extension of your arm."
And when Gwyn reached the finish line, bloody and panting and grinning so wildly her teal eyes glowed like a sunlit sea, she only extended her battered hand to Azriel. “Well?” “You already have your prize,” Azriel said simply. “You just passed the Blood Rite Qualifier. Congratulations.” Gwyn gaped. Nesta and Emerie halted. But Gwyn said to him, “That was why you invited them?”
Nesta asked Gwyn, “But it seemed like you didn’t know what we were doing.” “Cassian and Azriel warned me that we’d be watched by males today, but didn’t specify why.
“The courses?” Gwyn asked. “Different routes,” Azriel said, “from various Qualifiers over the centuries.”
Succeeding in the Blood Rite didn’t mean the training stopped. No, after she and her friends told Cassian and Azriel most of the details of their ordeal, the two commanders had compiled a long list of mistakes that the three of them had made that needed to be corrected, and the others wanted to learn from them, too. So they would keep training, until they were all well and truly Valkyries.
I think it's pretty evident that not only do Gwyn and Az interact but in a short period of time their interactions have already turned playful and competitive.
Certain groups in this fandom believe chemistry only equals sexual chemistry but people in real lasting relationships realize that chemistry is more than that. Sexual attraction can fade but emotional chemistry is what leads to a relationships staying power.
Emotional chemistry is what makes a relationship special and different from other relationships.
Az has had hunger for both Mor and Elain. He's felt protective of both Mor and Elain, arguing against them doing anything dangerous. He's questioned why both Mor and Elain were not his mates and felt he would taint both Mor and Elain. Really, there's nothing all that special between the way he treats the pair of them. Sure, he never lent anyone TT but he also never sat out of battle after Mor begged and pleaded. He never had a recently turned fae female in need of a weapon while the female he loved for centuries asked him not to fight.
In an SJM romance, her endgame pairings have both sexual and emotional chemistry but the sexual side of things doesn't always happen right away. For example, Rowan and Aelin didn't have sexual chemistry for quite a while. They disliked one another at first, which eventually led to friendship, which eventually built to sexual chemistry.
A crackship would be Gwyn and Tarquin who have never met. But Gwyn being flirtatious towards Az, Az being amused by Gwyn, Az showing admiration for Gwyn, Az believing in Gwyns ability to make it through the Rite, Az feeling something spark in his chest at the thought of her happiness, Az imaging her teal eyes lighting up, Gwyn being the only one his shadows dance for (both in SF and the POV), knowing that not only has Az already spent time interacting alone with Gwyn and time with her during training but that he and Cassian are going to be continuing her training, we can safely say Az and Gwyn are not a crackship. We know Gwyn likes males as she said her chance to lie with a male for her first time was taken from her and she did not show any fear being with Az alone in the dark in the middle of the night. So it is not "ridiculous" to think that he could easily be someone she'd place her trust in when she decides she's ready to take the next steps in exploring her sexuality (something SJM will decide she's ready for and not petty readers within the fandom).
And the fact that he treats Gwyn differently than the way he's acted towards Mor and Elain, the fact that SJM had Gwyn and Gwyn alone spark something in his chest, are possible clues that their chemistry is the real kind and not the fleeting kind that sexual chemistry sometimes is when it's missing the other things that are important to a lasting relationship.
This should have been another Dickfest Wednesday, but well, Chapter 236 derailed my plans...considerably. I got bitten by a plot bunny (by three actually, including the curse!Gojou one), and since it doesn't seem like I can get back to my usual JJK madness until I get this out of my system (unfondly remembering the time I had to do the same after Marvel's Endgame fucked up Steve's character arc), Dickfest Wednesdays are now suspended in favor of Time Travel Fuck-It Wednesdays.
Bit of a mouthful, but ah well.
The premise is that post-236 Gojou time-travels to the past, around two years pre-canon, and sets about trying to avoid the doomed future he came from in the most unhinged way possible—including raising Yuuji like a lamb to the slaughter the way he refused to commit to in canon. Whether it works out like he plans is another matter.
He stares for a beat longer at the groaning body at his feet before surveying the others scattered around the alley. Everyone’s alive and breathing. No one’s conscious. Yuuji doesn’t do this usually, doesn’t let it get this far. But he’s never had to, the delinquents and wannabe-gangsters running away after they take a few of his punches.
___
A low, long whistle makes Yuuji freeze from head to toe.
But this was a bigger group, and one of them had a knife. They were confident, and Yuuji was angry, and now he knows what sharp metal feels like bending in his fist while cutting through flesh.
They’re all still breathing, all still unconscious; the whistle came from none of them.
Yuuji whips around, fists up in a fighting stance. The left one hurts, the long cut dug into the meat of his palm a wet pulse. It’s sticky and hot too, blood seeping out from between his fingers and trickling down his wrist, but Yuuji knows he can fight with it. He already has.
It’s dark already, a flickering streetlight barely lighting up the mouth of the alley.
The man who melts out of the shadows seems to glow with his own unholy light.
Maybe it’s the hair—the purest white Yuuji’s ever seen on a person. It’s nothing like the grey that’s taken over what’s left of his grandpa’s hair, but the man is clearly not old enough to have started greying anyway. He’s young. He’s older than Yuuji though, clearly an adult.
Shit, it’s an adult.
“They’re alive!” Yuuji blurts out. “I didn’t—”
—kill them, he doesn’t finish. Even thinking the words feels surreal. Of course he didn’t. Of course he wouldn’t.
The man smiles like he heard them anyway, his strangely glossy lips curling up into a broad grin. It’s friendly enough. Yuuji can’t quite bring himself to relax, though he brings his arms down, letting them hang loose and ready at his sides.
“I know,” says the stranger. “You don’t seem the killing kind.”
Yuuji swallows thickly. He opens his mouth and closes it, not sure what to say. There’s the urge to defend himself—to explain and excuse. But none of it feels really honest, even when they’re true.
They tried to stab him, but he snapped the knife in half and drove his fist into the would-be stabber’s gut hard enough to send him flying into the alley wall.
They cornered him, but he saw it coming and let it happen.
They started it, but Yuuji’s been wandering around after school for hours, winding around the shadiest parts of town with the full knowledge of what would come calling if he just lingered long enough.
There’s no one waiting for him at home, again. His grandpa’s been spending longer and longer at the hospital, and Yuuji knows that, one day soon, he won’t come home at all. His grandpa won’t admit it. The doctors and nurses all talk around it. But he knows.
“It’s late, you know,” the man says, like he’s read Yuuji’s mind. “A kid like you shouldn’t be out at this hour. Who knows what kind of trouble will come calling.”
A throaty groan sounds from behind Yuuji, and he can’t help glancing over his shoulder. The guy who made the noise is still on the ground, curling into an even tighter fetal position.
He looks back at the stranger and finds his grin has widened into an unsettling slash. He raises a hand, the pad of his index finger settling on the bridge of his glasses. It’s lowered, exposing eyes that seem light and bright even at this distance.
Yuuji stands very still as he and the bodies behind him are surveyed.
“But trouble’s already found you,” the man says. “Did you fight them alone?”
“…Yes.”
“Impressive.” He sounds sincere, which really isn’t what Yuuji’s expecting. “Are you hurt?”
“No,” Yuuji says on reflex; his throbbing hand calls him out on the lie, but Yuuji bites his tongue.
The man doesn’t seem fooled, his grin turning crooked. “Don’t lie now. There’s no shame in getting a little beat up fighting…hm, six on one, is it? They look older too. You’re, what, a middle-schooler?”
Yuuji’s tempted to lie. He can pass as a high-schooler if he has to. But he’s also wearing his school uniform.
He nods.
The man takes a step forward.
Yuuji steps back, freezing when the heel of his shoe brushes something that flinches away with a groan.
A blink, and the man is there, kneeling in front of Yuuji.
He’s freakishly tall. It was clear when he was standing, but it’s somehow more obvious now when he’s on his knees in front of Yuuji and only barely looking up at him. This close, even in the shadows cloaking the alley, Yuuji can tell that his eyes are blue—the kind of blue he’s only seen on a screen, gleaming with the colors of the sea.
It knocks the breath right out of his lungs.
And he doesn’t react in time to stop the man from grabbing his injured hand and raising it to eye level.
There’s another low whistle. Yuuji flinches, pulling his hand back. It doesn’t budge. The stranger’s grip is deceptively light, long fingers curled delicately around Yuuji’s wrist, but there’s absolutely no give to it.
“Hey,” Yuuji croaks. “Let go.”
“That’s a nasty cut,” comes the reply, like the guy didn’t even hear Yuuji. “You should get that looked at.”
“Let go.”
A stronger pull, Yuuji letting up on some of his typical restraint.
His hand still doesn’t budge.
And that—that’s never happened before.
The man looks like he barely noticed the protest or the resistance, examining Yuuji’s hand with those weirdly bright eyes of his. They flicker up, meeting Yuuji’s stare and crinkling at the corners.
Yuuji’s throat clicks dry when he swallows.
The man’s free hand dips into his pocket, and Yuuji tenses on instinct, keenly aware of what happened just minutes earlier when a stranger’s hand did the same, but the man just pulls out a handkerchief, its white nearly as bright as the hair on his head.
Yuuji clues in a second before the fabric touches his skin.
“Wait!”
The man freezes, blinking quizzically up at Yuuji. “I’m just going to clean it. It’ll only hurt a bit.”
“That’s not…” Yuuji shakes his head, tugging at his hand again and somehow surprised when it still doesn’t move. “It’ll get dirty.”
The man laughs, a sharp bark of a sound. The grin his mouth settles into is discomfitingly sharp. “You really do have the strangest priorities.”
The fabric is pressed to the cut, the blood sopped up with light, gentle pats. It stings, but that’s barely noticeable. Yuuji’s more concerned about the dark stain spreading across the white cloth. His blood looks more black than red.
It’s a sweet but useless gesture. The more blood the man wipes away, the more spurts from the cut. Yuuji’s whole hand is sticky and hot.
Then the man sighs and presses the handkerchief to the wound, hard enough to make Yuuji hiss through clenched teeth. That earns him the full focus of those bright blue eyes, and maybe blood loss is getting to Yuuji, but he could swear those eyes are actually, literally glowing.
“Who are you?” he asks.
“Gojou Satoru, at your service,” he answers, both hands now wrapped tightly around Yuuji’s wounded one. “Do you know who I am?”
“No?”
“You don’t sound very sure.”
“No,” Yuuji says firmly. “Why would I?”
“Why indeed,” Gojou echoes softly. “Can I ask you a question?”
“That’s all you’ve been doing this whole time!”
Gojou chuckles. His hands are warm around Yuuji’s, burning as hot as the cut.
“That’s fair,” Gojou says. “This isn’t like those questions though. It’s very important.”
Yuuji swallows again. His heart is beating faster than it did during the fight, and there’s something in the air that lines the insides of his throat with serrated ice each time he drags in a breath.
He doesn’t like this.
Whatever Gojou’s about to ask, the question blazing in those eyes and tucked behind his smile—it’s nothing Yuuji wants to hear. He’s not sure where that certainty comes from, but he knows it’s only matched by the certainty that he needs to hear it all the same.
“What is it?” he whispers.
Gojou’s eyes bore into him, their blue living and lashing.
“Itadori Yuuji,” he asks, “do you want to save the world?”
Drawings + Rants + Headcanons/Naruto AU
i finally had some time to draw my versions of tean seven (minus kakashi). im gonna detail more of my AU later in the post but here are the designs and some notes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For sasuke, in one of my other posts i had the theory that sasuke keeps his hair short to avoid resembling itachi, and thats why it is longer in time skip, because he is coming to terms with his trauma and still loves itachi. I also gave him similar creases to itachi, just from stress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tbh im not too sure about this naruto design…but at least he isnt balding like before💀.
Tumblr media
for sakura, i actually really like her older design, so i just drew her working. she would have her hair up and i gave her sakura blossom hair pins and eyeshadow.
also i havent drawn in forever so..thats why its messy.
(the rest of this is me rambling on..)
Now for changes i made to the story:
1. Narusasu endgame (yk im a stan)
I would have both of them be joint hokages, so technically both are the 7th. I know Sasuke is referred to as the shadow hokage, but that doesn’t really entail anything. I think it’s important because Sasuke would know just how important reform is for the village and shinobi system, but since people are still suspicious of Uchihas, Naruto would be the face. This fulfills Naruto’s dream, which when you really think about it, his dream was just to be loved, not really to be a politician. Naruto has seen how unfair and corrupt their society is, so he would completely work with Sasuke to make sure things like Danzo and Hiruzen’s corruption, child soldiers, hyuuga slavery and the “Uchiha Incident” dont happen again. I could explain more of this in a later post.
2. I would have Hinata look up to Sakura more, instead of Naruto.
I think it makes a bit more sense, Sakura is brave, outspoken and independent, just like Hinata wants to be. I would have Sakura be her first friend, since she can’t stand to see people be excluded or alone. That leads me into changes I would make for Sakura’s story.
3. Sakura. In the original, I would keep her kind of bratty attitude until things get serious in the Zabuza arc. Seeing her close friends so close to death, while not being able to help much would challenge her to become a protector. This also gives motivation for her to learn healing and medicine when Tsunade comes around. Sakura would be the “rock” or “glue” of team seven, which makes sense because she is the only one of them that came from a stable home.
Sakura initially resents Sasuke for betraying the team, but seeing how dedicated Naruto is to saving him, she decides its worth it to help bring him back. Besides if she didn’t, naruto would just endager himself trying.
4. Sasuke. I would have Sasuke after he realizes Itachi was manipulated into a genocide to protect the village, still go through him “i’m gonna destroy the village” phase, but when Naruto defeats him, they make a promise to change things, so no one else will have to suffer like that. I would also show more of the psychological effects of witnessing Itachi’s murders. One of my headcanons is that he’s pretty thin, since trauma survivors tend to have chronic stomach pains. He’s probably pretty paranoid about others betraying him, so he does it to them first (probably why he pushes naruto away so much). Sasuke is also probably still ostracized or “othered” for being an uchiha, since that is what the village is told about them. People still pity him, but dont come near him.
5. Naruto. 😭I actually made up a whole theory on why Hiruzen didn’t take great care of naruto, bc to me it just doesn’t make sense. it’s kinda a dumb theory and doesn’t rlly have anything to do with canon, but- what if Minato wanted to expose the corruption in the hidden leaf and get rid of the foundation, so as a sort of revenge, or just general distaste for Minato, Hiruzen doesn’t really provide for Naruto. 🤷‍♀️idk. A change I would make is to have naruto mature more to match his age. Like ofc it makes sense for him to act out for attention esp when he was younger, but i feel like past shippuden..he didn’t really mature at all? maybe thats just me. I’ll probably have more stuff to add for him, i’ll think of it later or put it in my headcanons post.
😭im so tired yall i will make a better post later on.
Okay... I've literally seen anti Elriel people say that they couldn't end up together because they barely share moments in the books, like Vassa & Lucien, so believing that they would end up together is stupid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uh... what ? Sorry, but what book did you read exactly ?!
Tumblr media
Elriel literally spends loads of time together in the books. It's literally stated every time, it's just from Feyre and Nesta's point of view, not yet that of the main people involved. Elriel spent as much time on the page as Nessian did before they had their own book. Seriously wtf ?!
Also, let's address the Lucien and Vassa case. Lucien is currently a secondary character who we don't see much, but who we know will be important later in view of Helion's son and this whole story with the court of autumn. Just like Vassa with this Koschei story. Also, a little tiny detail that people would forget... Lucien lives with Vassa (and Jurian). He literally spends almost all his time with her outside of the times we see him. So, yes, Lucien spent a lot of time with Vassa.
Just the Elriel relationships, and Lucien & Vassa haven't gotten their own books yet for fuck's sake ! (For Lucien & Vassa I think it will probably happen in the very last book of the saga which will probably be a multiple point of view)
Also, they talk about the fact that the Elriel stans would not like Ruhnlidia while... well I haven't come across one yet ? I tended to come across people in the Elriel tag who ship Ruhnlidia. (I ship both myself ! Ruhnlidia are incredible) On the other hand, ironically every time I go to the Ruhnlidia tag I see anti Elriel and pro Gwynriel...
Oh and I saw an anti Elriel claiming that Gwynriel was obvious because Azriel is a shadow singer and Gwyn who would be (perhaps according to the plausible theory in my opinion) a light singer. So light and darkness necessarily go together and...
There are some who seem to have forgotten that the light / dark coding has already been offered to Elriel in previous books, but nice try.
The fact is that it sucks. Because I don't hate Lucien and Gwyn.
I have loved Lucien since volume 1 and I wish him to be happy one day and I am convinced that he will be happy in the future with Vassa, but certainly not Elain. She doesn't want him and he doesn't want her.
Gwyn is a great supporting female character, but she is not Azriel's future mate / wife.
We can love Gwynriel and Elucien ! There’s some great content about them ! There are magnificent fanarts of both ships that I always like, and some very good Gwynriel fanfictions that I myself consumed briefly in the past.
But you have to accept when a ship isn't canon or isn't intended to be after a while because with all the stuff I see happening, this whole debate about who Elain and Azriel will end up with is becoming ridiculous.
Because there is no debate about it. Elriel is endgame, period. Sarah J Mass has already said several times that this is obvious. You have to be willfully blind not to understand.
