Just took my first biology exam and got a pretty decent score of an F! 🎉🎉🎉

Decided I'll just block people I see tag their art with "not ship art" "don't tag as ship" and the like.

It's not that I care whether it's ship art, or whether the artist intends it platonically or romantically.

It's that it shows a deep, fundamental misunderstanding of how art works. Art is not meant to be interpreted to the exact dictation of the artist. Art is meant to evoke thoughts and feelings *beyond* what the artist intends.

The audience, viewing, completes the experience by supplying interpretations based on their own unique experiences.

If someone doesn't get that, then they're too mentally shallow for me to waste time on their art. Why would I? There's nothing for me in it--I'm not permitted to have my own thoughts or feelings about the art after all.

Viewing art as complete, immutable product that the audience exists only to "consume" without thinking is the mentality that enables the hideous conversion of "artist" to "content creator".

Besides, the artist has admitted they can't clearly communicate ideas or scenes, since they feel the need to clarify something that should be obvious 99.9% of the time.

Has anyone (including me) pointed out that the two known fallen angels (Lucifer and Vaggie) were forced out of Heaven, which indicates that angels can't spontaneously fall and have to be physically removed from Heaven?

In Lucifer's case, he was kicked out because he gave the Fruit of Knowledge to Eve. He isn't mentioned to have simply fallen, he was physically kicked out of Heaven. The visuals at the start of More Than Anything also support this, if you want to make the argument that the prologue bit in Overture is unreliable for any reason.

In Vaggie's case, she was attacked by Lute and forcibly had her halo and wings taken from her (as you can actually see Lute toss Vaggie's halo to Adam as they walk away in that flashback in Welcome to Heaven). Without her wings, she wouldn't have been able to get back into Heaven and was forced to stay in Hell.

This adds an extra layer to Sera telling Emily she doesn't want her to end up like Lucifer. Sera would have to physically kick her out of Heaven, she's not going to fall spontaneously because from what we've seen and as far as we know, angels can't fall spontaneously.

We also know Sera is the top seraph (going by both what we've seen in Hazbin Hotel and by biblical canon, as it wouldn't be a stretch to assume Sera is Hazbin Hotel's version of Seraphiel) and, assuming God exists in the Hellaverse, she's the second most powerful being in Heaven (if God doesn't exist in the Hellaverse, she's probably the most powerful person in the show). It's also not a stretch to assume she wields this power by threatening anyone who questions Heaven. Sera very likely uses intimidation and fear to control Heaven, and it'd be really easy to threaten other angels with falling to control them.

Like genuinely I don't think angels can fall spontaneously. I feel like Adam (possibly Lute too idk) would've fallen by the start of the series if they could. I think the threat of falling spontaneously is purely made up by Sera so the other angels are easier to control. Of course, this is just a theory/headcanon. But to me, it explains so much of Sera's behavior. Why she's so controlling, why she's so afraid of Emily standing up to her. Because if Em """needs""" to fall, Sera would be the one kicking her out of Heaven, not some higher force forcing her to Hell.

#hazbin hotel #this includes the cherubim from helluva boss btw #they were absolutely forced out of heaven by deerie which is further supported by their reactions to not being able to get back to heaven #they didn't think making one mistake would result in them being kicked out of heaven which makes me think deerie is responsible for it #not the fact that they accidentally killed a human (although i wouldn't be surprised if sera was also involved so she could prove a point)#idk. i've thought about this enough for now lol

i reread some fic recently that i wrote for harry potter in like, 2012????

i think whats really striking is just how much of jkrs prejudices and biases bled into my work because I was emulating her style. her style is marked by fatphobia, underhanded ableism, barely-examined prejudice against people of other races and backgrounds. and fatphobia. fatphobia, so much fatphobia. and like this is kind of standard for a centrist brit in the 90s but if anything it just shows that its really high time ppl let go of her work and stop bringing her back to relevance. especially with the whole new game being basically an antisemitic slaughterfest thing. this woman has not felt the need to examine her views and prejudices since like 1992 and it fucking shows

i don’t normally notice what i learn from foreign language music or shows or social media posts but today two girls from my spanish class and i did a study session and several of the things we looked at i was like oh my god i picked that up from stuff i saw on twitter or ooh i learnt that from an argentinian band i found on tiktok. basically i highly recommend💀

Conventions are so much fun but in a post covid world im afraid i will never feel comfortable going to one again

#I never went to a furcon and i have a lot of reservations about going to one but covid solidified i will absolutely never go #Which sucks bc they look like fun but no one in the furry fandom knows how to behave. At all #I see worse horror stories every year and an infectious disease nobody really seems to care about is the cherry on top #Like idk. Youre telling me you can run around and be physically active in 15 lbs of fucking fur but cant wear some fabric around your mouth #It seriously upsets me as someone who has done virtually nothing post covid except for a handful of outside events #And then watching all of these superspreaders going to cons and then acting surprised when they have a positive c19 test #I sincerely wonder what it will take for furries to care about disabled people #Especially now that covids causing many people to become disabled or otherwise immunocompromised #Idk i say this as if im able to afford going to any but it makes me sad cause i really love the experience i just refuse to enable this #emf #This is about the d3nfur news btw I'm obviously not sayi ng all furries that go to cons are evil #I think as a con its irresponsible at best to not at least wear masks indoors regardless of vax status

i still can't believe this winter i had a cold then a couple weeks later i had the flu and then following that i had mild tonsilitis like... the past 2 years in lockdown i obviously didn't get sick and then i was just hit with all of those all at once

#pre covid i would get a sort of cold every time the weather shifted which hasn't happened as much lately either #but like. i had a relatively bad cold like bad enough i had to leave work early #then i missed 2 days of work (i was reallybreally sick for 4 days but 2 of those days were on the weekend) because i had the fucking flu nd #i was feverish etc #it was soooo fucked up and then right after the flu i got tonsilitis whcj was super annoying #i never had the flu taht i can remember. i apparently have had a fever as a kid but that's not so surprising #but it was also shit cause i was alone i had no one to take care of me i wanted soooo badly to go to my mums cause not ever having had the #flu and then suddenly having to take care of myself thru it sucked so bad #i felt absolutely lost #anyway it was really annoying and i think that much sickness so close took a lot out of me #idk i felt like venting over it for some reason #maybe so next time im like 'oh i wish i was sick so i could be laid up in. bed all day' id be like wait no that was terrible #also btw the flu is COMPLETELY on me. i know this makes me a bad person but i forgot to get my flu vax this year.#don't hate me for that i am so busy and overwhelmed at work (i realised I've never had a full time job like this before too) that i kept #forgetting to book. and they were free this year too.#diary

no you know what I'm going to scream about the stuff I talked about in the tags of this post publicly

I'm tired of the well-meaning "don't feel bad if your work only gets 20 notes your genius is what counts and do it for you!" bullshit. I've had a good handful of friends who have straight up DEACTIVATED in recent months because their work was not getting reblogged AT ALL. No, it wasn't from lack of not being well-liked, no it wasn't from lack of trying to make sure it was getting out there to the people they knew would engage with it. It was because no matter how much they were praised privately for their work, when push came to shove, absolutely NOBODY reblogged it and gave it the audience that it was due, and I'm tired of people shoving the "unsung genius" narrative as an excuse for it. Nothing excuses that. And the boop event really proved that.

because I know given the opportunity, indiscriminately pressing a button (sometimes 10 thousand times, as I did) is not beyond this website's capability. y'all loved doing that. and look at what it wrought. nothing but love and affection and happiness. just from a couple of quick clicks of a little paw button. sure. nobody knew who you booped but the other person (which is how likes used to work on this website, btw). there was an element of anonymity to it. but that is kind of the core of this website that no other social media platform still has: the ability to be anonymous. and hyper-curating a blog on here like you might on twitter or instagram to project an image is simply not viable. and hey. you wanna know a secret: literally nobody cares what you post or whether it goes with the "theme" of your blog or not. yeah. I know. CRAZY concept in this day and age. but literally. I myself have reblogged things that have had nothing to do with whatever I am currently fixated by and you know what happened to my follower count? not a damn thing. in fact, I actively try to reblog things specifically BECAUSE it's my friends who made them (even though I'm not always good at KEEPING UP WITH HOW MUCH THEY POST @prismatica-the-strange will NEVER GO UNRECOGNIZED by me).

And you know what fucking sucks? I have to deal with this too. surprise right? you ever wonder why I reblog fics or art I post like 20 times the day that I post them? do you ever wonder why I ask about tag lists and beg for asks all the time? IT'S BECAUSE EVEN I GET LIKE. 5 LIKES ON THE THINGS I POST. AND THE REST OF THE REBLOGS ARE MINE SO I CAN MAKE SURE THAT PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SEE WHAT I MAKE GET TO SEE IT. and I say that knowing that I'm certainly not an unpopular blog, or an unpopular writer. I know that people love the stories that I create. Hell, half of the people that I've talked to about lady terror have told me that they consider her to be canon (AND EVEN SOME!! THOUGHT SHE WAS!!! WITHOUT EVEN HAVING WATCHED THE SHOW! WHICH IS STILL SO SO WILD TO ME!!!) But especially in the last 4 years (which really dates this phenomenon), my posts, no matter how well received they've been amongst people I've talked to about them directly, I still go into the notes and at least half (often more than half) are MY reblogs to make sure people saw what I posted. and it happens every single time, and I can't tell you how much it crushes me considering that it used to be that I would be able to post it only once, and people would reblog it sometimes even HUNDREDS of times.

It's not about popularity. it never has been. it's not about anxiety. or shifting website cultures. even if you lurk, the simple fact is, that if you want people to keep making what you love. you have to reblog. your theme won't suffer because you reblogged a fanfiction that you really admire. your posting won't be ruined because you reblogged some fanart from someone in a different fandom. really. I promise. and if people do unfollow you for that? who needs em. followers come and go but you should NEVER have to cater to them. on this website it has ALWAYS been the other way around. lean into it. make it yours. put stuff you ACTUALLY WANT to be seen and that you love and appreciate on your blog. no matter how old it is, how new it is, no matter how niche or off-theme it is.

so please. if you really want to show your appreciation for someone's work? you reblog. it's really as easy as that. check the tags. add some when you reblog if you like. but please for the love of god reblog. it's as easy as booping and even more rewarding for the people who you reblog from. if you want to let someone know that their work is genius and appreciate it? show it. reblog. then DM them if you're too nervous to say what you want to say but not in a public forum. but for christ's sake. REBLOG.
