RQG 108-109 are genuinely some of my favorite episodes but hoo boy did it take me a minute to get that particular undercurrent

(And by "like a minute" I mean it took one of the Q&As for me to fully go, "Oh wait oh yeah oh no")

Sam, who's still new enough at his job that he doesn't know the unspoken rule "If a dishevelled bloke comes looking for Gwen and claims to be her brother, pretend you don't know her and walk away".

So when a dishevelled bloke comes looking for Gwen and insists he must see her, it's a family emergency, you see, he's her brother, Sam, being a good lad at heart, gets him a visitor badge and takes him to see Gwen.

Who gets one glimpse of him, stands up with an, "Absolutely NOT, Elias, haven't I told you not to come here--"

"Hello, Gwen," says Elias like the headache that he is.

And the computer speakers crack in three voices in unison, "ELIAS BOUCHARD".

no matter how rqg ended we will always have "what if orpheus went to get eurydice but they'd both been neck-deep in suicidal ideation for months if not years and that's the trick. you can walk out the afterlife with me but you'll have to be alive again. i am asking you to bear being alive again. you can say no, but i had to ask. i'm not going to admit i need you to say yes until you make me" and no one can take that away from me. they don't even say i love you. they never say i love you! wilde just agrees to be alive again! because zolf needs him! not the work, not the world, zolf!!!

Anyone remember that old meme that's like "TMA is workplace comedy branded as horror, RQG is horror branded as action drama, and Stellar Firma is action drama branded as workplace comedy"? I genuinely think there are a few scenes in RQG that evoked more genuine fear in me than TMA ever did

yknow i never noticed the sheer rareness of images having ids or alt text on this website until i started adding alt text to my art (and trying to remember to add it to any images i post in general, especially text screenshots) and that makes me kinda sad

The first time I listened to RQG I managed to completely miss any episodes/parts of episodes where the Meritocrats were explained to be dragons until the S1 recap, and I didn't realize how much that blindspot affected my understanding of the RQG universe until I started relistening to the series
