Thoughts on fakes being more real than the real thing?
okay i finally am on my lunch break and have time to talk about this. sorry i did not mean to have audrey make you send me this ask but i do appreciate you doing so!
anyway just so that everyone reading is clear on this, the concept im discussing here is specifically a fake that is indistinguishable from the real thing. this isnt really a concept that can be applied to a physical thing, like if i made a fake rock that was chemically identical to a real rock, ive created a real rock. its more about intangible concepts.
when i was first introduced to this philosophical discussion, i was deeply, deeply religious, and i (perhaps unexpectedly) fell firmly into the 'the fake is worth more than the real' to explain the concept of original sin and christianity's belief that humans are inherently evil. the idea is that, if you have one person who is naturally good, and another person who is naturally evil but through concentrated effort becomes indistinguishable from a Good Person, the bad person is better because of their choice to be good despite their nature, whereas the good person simply does it without effort. i was always a very philosophical bitch, much to the chagrin of religious people in authority over me. needless to say i am no longer religious.
now, in my wisened age. i have taken a more reasonable stance. i do not believe there is any meaningful difference between a fake thing and a real thing. and theres a lot of things i apply this to! perhaps due to religious trauma, i still see myself as a fundamentally bad person. its hard to think of myself as good when im privy to my own thoughts, where im cruel and judgmental and lacking empathy. im sure others have similar thoughts, but i cant know anyone else's thoughts, so that doesnt do me any good. but if i treat people well and keep my darker side to myself, i am indiscernible from a good person. similarly, thanks to my upbringing im not really capable of accepting that things like positive reinforcement could actually work, or that there's a political system better than handing me personally unlimited power to kill politicians and rich people until better people are put in power, or the current ones stop doing evil shit out of terror. but regardless of how i feel about it, regardless of my severe misanthropy, i fake believing in positive reinforcement and less tyrannical forms of government. i support the things i know are good for people, even if i dont personally believe they are. and my outward support is the only thing that is really relevant, because most people arent reading my blog. the fact that its completely fake doesnt mean its worse.
and yknow, believing in this sort of thing is also good in that it kind of makes you immune to impostor syndrome. like oh, youre not a REAL artist because REAL artists like, idk, go to art school or whatever? well thats fine because being a fake artist is not really any different from being a real one! i bet even if you DONT believe this, and you're one of those people who believes theres some intrinsic value in the "real", you could pretty easily get away with faking it! and by faking a belief that theres no difference between the fake and the real, you can eventually come to believe it for real! or not. but it'll sure look like it!

If The Winter Soldier was in Task force 141 — Headcannons
(Aka: can somebody teach these dramatic bitches some communication skills)
Be warned, this has a lot more words than I was aiming for (around ~739). Feel free to send me an ask if you want me to expand on certain scenarios, or send a prompt with these two and I might make a oneshot/drabble!
Contains a brief mention of SoapGhost. This version of Bucky is post Endgame. SFW.
♡ Headcannons below the cut ♡
Tumblr media
Nicky Fury, the therapist— and most importantly, the government— come to an agreement with the former Winter Soldier: with the Avengers fizzled out, the world needs heroes now more than ever. And so, finding an excuse to use Bucky's highly trained skills, they stick him in with Task 141, hoping the structure and team bonding will help aid his fractured mind, and hopefully dampen his grief in the process.
Ghost isn't keen on a new recruit. He doesn't like extra men to babysit, and he especially doesn't like being unsure of the rookie's capabilities. It doesn't take long for a silent feud to form between him and the newbie, who refers to himself as "Winter" for a call sign or just "Bucky" if he favors you.
Bucky, on the other hand, admires the leadership and protectiveness Ghost shows to his team. But despite that, he's just as cautious of his abilities— and more specifically: where his trust lies, between Bucky, who hasn't entirely yet merged himself with the team, and between the rest of 141, who share a rich history with the Sergeant.
In the first couple missions, Bucky finds himself frustrated with Ghost's orders. He's held the Sergeant title too, once— Hell, climbing the ranks practically required acting on command without any question. That is, until he was able to make his own decisions again. But Bucky had become accustomed to leading himself, or often following behind Steve (who knew more than anybody that telling him what to do didn't guarantee anything), not to mention the mess of Hydra and everything he did to detach himself from that life— So, he struggles with Ghost's authority, and begins to learn very quickly that challenging the non-red, skull-faced fucker is a bad idea.
On one particular morning, just a few days after their last big mission, Bucky wakes up with no arm. Fortunately for him, it's a familiar feeling of emptiness on one side. He later finds it on a shelf in the common room, displayed like a mantelpiece alongside various weapons, with a little skull etched into the bicep with black grease paint. The worst part? Ghost is the first person to sneak past him in decades. Dramatic motherfucker.
After that, Bucky finds a balance of respect and displeasure for Ghost, and works alongside him in unison. The rest of the team doesn't question his sudden change in attitude: some of them, too, had to get over that barrier, after all.
They bond over a share of books. Bucky spent a lot of his downtime before and after the army reading, and likewise with Ghost. Bucky owned a first edition of The Hobbit before he became a pawn for the Soviets, and Ghost is secretly jealous of it, having lost himself in fictional stories all the time growing up.
They also bond over their shared magnet for idiots. Specifically, idiot teammates with a tendency for causing trouble. Bucky ribs him for not making any moves on Soap, whereas Ghost defends himself with a quiet grunt and often changes the subject to something else.
The biggest thing they oppose on, however, is the subject of masks. Ghost is never seen without his, but Bucky almost never has it on unless they're on a mission, and even then, he occasionally opts out, mostly to blend in when necessary (and to help keep his memories at bay, not that he'd ever say it).
Typically, their favorite past time is sparring. Bucky has never found a non-human that can almost match him strength for strength, and Ghost likes knowing he can throw his all at Bucky without having to worry about the damage it could cause. It's the best training for the both of them; allowing their energy to drain, their skills to improve, and their banter to escalate until one of them is on top of the other, holding them down until a forfeit is called.
More than once, Bucky has been the one on the ground with his arms pinned. He claims he only admitted defeat to, "boost Ghost's ego so the miserable bastard can smile for once," but they both know it's not quite the truth.
They work as a good team and even better rivals. And though Bucky would never admit it out loud, after everything he's lost, he enjoys having an equal again. And Ghost, well... Ghost wouldn't mind keeping him around for a while, that's for sure.
That's all I've got for now! I have a NSFW headcannons draft for these two soldiers' x reader. Lemme know if that's something I should post ;D

Which are your favourite proposals in historical, modern romance and movies?
Omg, fun!
For movies, I immediately have to call out Crazy Rich Asians. The moment when the ring was revealed, I remember this audible gasp in my theater (including me and my mom). Such a great way to close a loop in a movie, while being super romantic and swoony.
Obviously, Pride and Prejudice 2005. I prefer the way Joe Wright did it not only to the 90s miniseries, but the book as well. The rain adds to the atmosphere and passion, the anger and tension is palpable, the way the mood changes when McFadyen goes "Mr. WickHAM", the almost kiss. So good.
For all that there is some content that hasn't aged the best, Colin Firth's proposal in Love Actually was primo. The language barrier was used perfectly, and of course the reveal that she'd been learning English while he was learning Portuguese.... adorable.
This is technically in a miniseries, but it's piggybacking off two movies, so I'll mention it... When Q tracks Shelby down in The Best Man: The Final Chapters and does a grovelprosal??? So good. Like, you watched these two, objectively the most caustic and like... edgy? People in the series, dance around each other with random hookups (and a secret baby lol) for years, and he finally has to completely debase himself in front of a bunch of watching women who are like, filming this shit, begging her not to leave... So fucking satisfying.
For books, I would have to say....
The Bride Goes Rogue by Joanna Shupe and The Duke Gets Even both have really good proposals, and neither one goes well for the men in question for very different reasons. Preston's in Bride is honestly a bad proposal because he's a broken human being who doesn't know how to accept that he loves Katherine and needs to be with her, and she's like "I deserve better than 'we should get married because we make sense and the sex is bomb'" and just sweeps out and leaves him like a broken man. Whereas Lockwood in Duke is completely in love with Nellie (him being like "I fucking worship you and am completely incapable of getting anything done when you're not here because it's like my arm's been ripped off or some shit" is.... amazing) and completely capable of expressing that love, but she cannot accept it. And he knows this. But he has to try anyway because he's SO in love with her.
Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall has a great one where Valentine proposes to Bonny when he's like, hiding in a tree or something. And he's basically like "listen it's Victorian England and we're both men so it can't be legal but I want you to be whatever a husband is for me and this is VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO EXPRESS". It's adorable.
Enzo like... grovelprosing to Gia in Mafia Madman by Mila Finelli is so deranged. It's like, a quick kidnap (that's their love language), a "I can't breathe without you FORGIVE ME", a negotiation of what she needs out of the relationship (a huge ring, a long engagement, maybe a vasectomy from him because she's not sure if she wants kids, and freedom to have her career) and him being like "YES FINE WHATEVER" because he's realized he needs her like air, lol. My beloved garbage people.
The thing in A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught where it's really less a proposal and more Royce taking Jennifer to the priest and being like "marry us, neither of you have a choice and I don't wanna be here either". And then he calls her a bitch. I loved that.
There are like... three? Proposals in Sierra Simone's New Camelot trilogy (one of which is accepted) and then sort of like an on the spot private spiritual wedding ceremony with what I guess is a proposal right before? And I loved all of it. There's so much angst and so much intense longing in those books. So many times for my boy Embry to get proposed to and go "I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH TBH".
OOOh I loooove the proposal in The Long Game by Rachel Reid. There's such a great buildup to it, and it's so romantic, and I also love that Ilya and Shane go from this big emotional sappy proposal to fucking on the floor immediately after. Good for Them.

So in regards to the She-Hulk series, the moment that really turned so, so many people against it's title character was the infamous moment where she tells Bruce to his face that her personal suffering is far, far worse than his(The man who saw his father beat his mother to death, used to be constantly hinted by the U.S military and shot at, lost control and against his will killed people as the hulk, and even tried to kill himself to deal with it all).
However, there is another moment from this series that illustrates the problem much better in my opinion, because unlike here, this next one isn't directed at anyone in particular. It's just her being who she is.
While in a bar, one of Jen's friends questions her about her possibly becoming a superhero.
Her response has two bits.
"You could be an avenger!"
"Do the Avengers offer healthcare? Maternety leave... A pension? Are they even paid?"
Like... This would have been a good moment. In this line, Jennifer lays out the problems being a superhero, and why she doesn't want to be one. It's the reason why Peter Parker's life generally have so many shitty parts, because superhero work doesn't pay the bill.
It is a very understandable reason.
But then, there is the other part.
"I did not go to law school and rack up six figures in student laws to become a vigilante. That's for billionaires and narcissists, and adult orphans, for some reason."
Jennifer is not capable of just laying out her viewpoint... She has to put someone else down while doing so.
Jennifer Walters has real, genuine reasons not to want to become a vigilante... But then she immediately follows it up with implying that the reason she doesn't want to isn't one of those reasons... It's because people who do it, are beneath her. That she is somehow better than them.
She makes it very, very clear with her tone, that she thinks she is better than them, because she went through law school.
You can basically replace "Superhero" with "Plumber" or "Construction worker" and you'd get the same result. Only that would just be snobbish of her. What she actually says is far worse.
Because she specifically singles out superheroes as being worthy of ridicule for... What... Saving lives? Resurrecting half the fucking universe after they died?
And she strings 3 completely different character traits to insult one major group as if any of them had anything in common.
1. Being a billionaire.
2. Being a narcissist.
3. Being an adult orphan.
You can certainly make a strong case for the first 2 being inherently bad, but the third one? Jenn chooses to imply that having lost ones parents is somehow a wrong on their part. That it is somehow a moral flaw worth being ridiculed for.
All of this would be bad enough if she was talking about just any class of people, but that she specifically targets a group of people who regularly risks life and limb and a lot of them died recently in order to undo the worst catastrophe in the history of the universe, including the guy she is very "subtly" using to denigrate an entire group of people, most who had none of the wealth she is using to attack Tony Stark.
To put it bluntly... She-Hulk is a stuck up, judgemental bitch, who has no ability emphetice with the suffering of other people, and objectively compare her own life and struggles to that of others.
She is essentially an anti peter parker. Whereas his personal suffering is what led him to embrace the idea that he had to be a good person and help people rather than use his gifts for selfish gains, Jennifer is using her own struggles as a reason to justify putting other people down, to be an asshole.
That because she has had struggles in her life, that justifies being a judgemental bitch, who thinks that she is better than other people.
And you know what the really shitty thing is?
That If this was an intentional character flaw, then this could have led to a great story. Of a woman who went through her own struggles in life, overcoming them, and through doing so reached a point thought she was better than everyone else, then having to come to the very hard realization she is not, and over the course of the story learn to empathize with those around her.
It's not what would want out of a she-hulk story, but it could make for a good character journey.
You know how i know that?
Because that is basically Tony Stark's entire story in Iron Man.
Tony started out as... A man who lost his parents at a young age, growing up to become a hyper competent asshole who is more skilled than the people around him, and this leading him to think that this makes him better than anyone else, and that this gives him the moral right to be an asshole and put others down. To think that he is somehow "better" than other people.
She-hulk greatest flaw is not that it's main character is an unlikable asshole. It's the fact that the writer's are not capable of understanding that they wrote her to be an unlikable asshole, that HAS to put others down to feel good about herself, and because of that, the story is not capable of turning this aspect of it's main character into one of it's strengths.

Feeding shedule
First off all, this is purley headcanon stuff I made up and it is probably proven wrong as soon as he's released (as it was written before his release). As my other fanfictions are... (But I'm interested in how much is wrong exactly).
Second is the fact that my character is probably not to the taste of everyone here, since they are a person that isn't well versed in the matter of handling a disabled person. They are not yet capable of treating every disabled person to their liking as much as they are not able to treat every nondisabled person to their liking. This is a learning process. No one is an expert right away and so mistakes are made, that's where people usually learn from the most. And everyone wants to be treated differently! This isn't meant as a good example in any way!
If you want to critize something or explain something to others in my comment-section go for it. If you just want to rant about 'stupid ableist scum', do us the favor an stick it up your ass. I won't tolerate it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey, by the way, as your cook I think I should also know what your favourite food is?"
The Pharmacist looked up from the prescriptions he was writing. Startled by your sudden question: "There's this dish, relatively handy to prevent and alleviate dryness, which I suffer from relatively often, hehe."
You snapped your fingers right in front of his face, which earned you an irritated look from the doctor.
"What's YOUR favorite food? Let me put it another way. Just imagine a day when your illness leaves you mostly alone, your stomach doesn't bitch, and your taste buds don't overreact. What is your favorite food then, if you can get your hands on it. And no, it doesn't have to be that healthy either, for once. A quilty pleasure, if you will. I want to be ready should it occur."
The green-haired one stared into space for a moment, overwhelmed, before he began to think. It seemed to be visibly difficult for him to see past all his limitations. A small part of you even started to feel bad for also reminding him of what he would so rarely be able to have.
You quietly began to serve him his green tea, not wanting to rush him as well, knowing how little he could stand it.
Meanwhile, his gaze wandered in the direction of Wangmin Restaurant, then towards Xinyue Kiosk. He even leaned back swingingly and placed his fingers under chin in a thinker pose.
He had really never allowed himself this thought in his life!
"Although I'm usually forced to limit myself to simple soup, broth, rice and congee, I'm never averse to a good noodle soup: With rice vermicelli, thick pieces of braised pork belly, smoked tofu and two tea egg halves. But I probably should cut short the portion by half or even thirds even on a good day, or I'm going to regret it the hours afterwards."
Your guilt only increased as a result. But it was now no longer possible for you to take back the question and an elegant excuse would not occur to you either.
Just as you wanted to start something, his airy voice interrupted you:
His serpentine tongue flicked as if by itself barely noticeable to emphasize his point of craving described dish.
"For dessert, if the rare moment occures that I crave something sweet, I prefer any little pastry filled with salted egg yolk and or lotus seed paste, huh. Whereas tapioca pudding cooked with coconut milk is also really delicious, but forget the extra sugar some put into it. However, when I need something sweet on a normal day, I usually stick to simple guilinggao... maybe with coconut cream…"
"That's a good start…"
"Hey! What about me, when will you asssk me?", Changsheng had reared back and punished you with a sideways glance.
"I don't want to confuse your preferences, give me a second. Besides, Baizhu has already warned me not to pay too much attention to you when it comes to food. Don't you hunt most of it yourself?"
Baizhu let out a small laugh before stroking his partner's little head soothingly, "Did you like the little onigiri made from chicken that much?"
(The other day you tried to make some Onigiri, a specialety from Inazuma, as you thought it had a rather subtle taste and might be easy to stomach cause of its few ingredients. A sudden strike of inspiration made you then form another tiny one out of cooked and grounded chicken meat for Changsheng as a small treat. They both rather liked it and it found its way on you list of everyday suitable dishes for the Doctor.)
"It wasss quite acceptable." with those words she disappeared back into the curtain of green strands.
Changsheng's personal way of praising someone, you probably couldn't expect more, but that was more than enough for you. It was hard enough to win over her stubborn character. Sometimes you wondered if the pharmacist just wasn't that strict with her, or if he had a secret fondness for people who weren't afraid to treat him and others rather brusquely. After all, most people treated him like fragile porcelain.
Like you just wished you did the other moment...
You wondered yourself where the thought came from but shoved it away to rethink it later by taking a blank sheet off the notepad on the table and writing down the new information about your boss.
"Any allergies or intolerances apart from the daily fluctuations?"
Baizhu chuckled at your sudden professionalism, eyeing you with a gentle gaze: "As you're already know since the incident the other day, I'm extremely lactose intolerant. I can't even smell cow's milk without getting sick. Other than that I have no direct allergies, only that I tolerate some things just one day more and the other not."
A warm, true smile apeared on his lips: A truely rare sight, as he witnessed you actually writing everything down what he told you and what he just mention on the side. Like the fact that he needs smaller portions than what one would anticipate for a actually tall man like him.
Your sadly didn't notice much of it, since you were preoccupied making the notes and formulating your next questions.
"Anything you simply don't like? Flavours, smells, consistencies and such?"
"I don't like slimy foods or those with a pungent smell to it. That fermented soybean dish from Inazuma: whilst high on nutrients, wrong in any other way possible if you ask me."
Changsheng pushed her little head foreward for a informative comment: "If I remember correctly did you call it a 'gruessome abomination' and a 'Food maltreatment' lassst time..."
Baizhu simply waved his hand infront of her to shush her, before smiling apologetically for being called out badmouthing a indeed healthy dish that harshly.
You couldn't help laughing, longing a little for the day when Baizhu would drop his doctor facade in front of you and just be himself. At least once in a while. Until then, you would be content with Changsheng's unadorned glimpses into the inner life of this complex man.
"Ok this means no stinky tofu, no okra should I ever get my hands on them, careful with seaweed and mushrooms, no thousand-year eggs or Baluten..."
"The last two are an exception! No matter if I think I won't like it I at least try it once... those two are actually quite nice I found out... raw egg is also alright with me."
"The Baluten that developed for 21 daysss isss the bessst!"
It was hard for you to write down the embryo egg dish, but since you cooked for him (and Gui and Qiqi occassionaly) it didn't matter if the idea of it didn't sit with you to well, you would probably try it but in the end it was for you boss. He was supposed to get what he liked.
"Oh and spicy food only when I ask specifically about it. While I crave some spicy shrimp soup from time to time it is always a gambling game", he laid a hand on his visible stomach at the remorseful memory of the last time he obviously lost the coin flip: "Exclusive spices and multilayered tasting shenanigans are sadly pearls cast before swine with me. I don't taste much these days... Oh, and what I can taste I can't destinct from the smell of it like most humans are able to. Haha, I warned you, that cooking for me will be a fulltime job."
"I don't mind it, otherwise I wouldn't have offered it to you. Like that I can work off my dept to Bubu Pharmacy and earn something after that and you are spared from Gui's and Changsheng's scolding because you forgot to eat... again."
In your mind's eye, the memory played out of Gui actually feeding the doctor a small bowl of white rice while he was hunched over notes sorting out his schedule for the next day. As if his affliction didn't drain him enough every day….

BIO.
walking before she crawled, amelia was a combination of stoicism and heart. she was never an easy one to pin down and made sure of that. growing up in the bones’ household there was a constant push-pull of how to present oneself. it felt like she and her siblings had to choose sides. their mother, yael, was full of light, love and compassion. their father, uriel, was all business, no play and his family was second to his career. it’s no wonder amelia was torn between who she should be. she saw edgar come to blows with uriel but gentle with yael. she saw edgar’s obvious struggle and didn’t want to repeat it so she learned to keep any bubbling emotion inside. she wasn’t going to allow anyone to see a weakness in her. whether she liked it or not, she was unconsciously following in uriel’s footsteps more than she imagined she would. she longed to have the warmth her mother had but she saw what would happen to with too soft a heart. amelia only gave her heart to those she deemed worth it. and when she did, she did she did it hard and strong. never an easy one to pin down.
growing up, amelia was lucky to have the siblings she did. they didn’t always get along but that was the nature of siblings – loving them and shared annoyance at the same time. she wouldn’t let him know it but amelia looked up to edgar. he was strong in a variety of ways and she, without his knowledge of course, wanted to make him proud. she longed for the wherewithal to stand up for herself no matter who liked it or not. amelia wasn’t one to stand up for herself the way he did. whereas she saw others abuse “standing up for themselves,” amelia learned to keep her composure. she wanted to be seen as having her life together, even if it made her appear cold to those who didn’t know her. — which couldn’t have been further from the truth.
while at hogwarts, the sorting hat surprised her. she assumed she would be placed in ravenclaw. her smarts and curiosity – they were all things she knew she had at just eleven years old. however, amelia didn’t realize that the sorting hat saw other prevalent traits inside her. gryffindor traits to be exact. remaining curious, amelia didn’t ask the hat to place her in ravenclaw. she trusted its insight and was happy to discover parts of herself she didn’t know were there. at such a young age, amelia was more in tune with who she was than those in her year; she was more in tune than others in years ahead of her, to be honest. as she grew, the courage, loyalty and bravery became obvious to her. of course she would be placed in a house to teach her to look inside and find more of herself. it was this that propelled her forth.
as a child, amelia never suspected she would be the type to fall in love, get married or have children. for perhaps the only time, the universe had a twist for her. she found a boy – or rather, a boy found her – following a game of quidditch. she was a beater for her gryffindor house. she was sweaty and in full gear, making her tiny frame much bigger than she actually was. her helmet covered most of her face yet this boy approached her. she had no recollection of who he was or why he would come to her in the aftermath of a quidditch game but there was something endearing about it. amelia found herself wondering about him. eventually that wondering turned into feelings. those feelings turned into honest love. the love could have turned into a wedding but amelia would have her heart broken before that happened. she turned back to believing that her work was where she was meant, not as a wife and definitely not a mother. the wedding provided a beautiful life. one day she would find out what the universe had in store for her and what a surprise that would be.
even before the war began to explode, amelia knew she was meant to assist in keeping order in london. the wizarding world was far too important to her to have vile witches and wizards in the streets. she needed to know she was doing her part for the safety of the innocent. she needed to be a watchdog, a protector – and a member of the wizengamot her father took for granted prior to his death. although she had started in uriel’s footsteps and although she took the spot where he once sat, amelia took her vows to mean something much different. for her, it was not about power. for her, it was about caring for those she walked by on the streets whether she knew them by name or not. if that wasn’t growing into a combination of uriel and yael nothing was. even if it wasn’t intentional, amelia found herself taking some of the best characteristics of both parents — her mother’s love and grace and her father’s passionate iron fist.
amelia’s decision to join the order of the phoenix was not taken lightly – just as any decision she made. she weighed her options and took her entrance into the side of the war she saw just and fit. although there was no chance amelia would come to the side of the death eaters, she did look into what it would mean and where it would bring her. staying neutral appeared to be a solid choice but the problem with that was that it didn’t keep scum away from families, children – the world – at bay. the order. it appeared to be the best option. it was aligned with reasons she became part of the magical law enforcement department to begin with. so it was: amelia would join the dedicated group fighting for the good cause, the just cause. the good cause had always been amelia’s and there she found herself, proud of where she stood in life.
RELATIONSHIPS.
father: uriel bones (dmle official / wizengamot member, father, deceased) - strong, proud, unflinching. (fc : mandy patinkin).
mother’s status: yael bones (nee goldstein) – (senior healer in the janus thickey ward, mother, deceased) - honest, warm, and gentle were just some of the words used in her obituary. (fc : fran drescher)
sibling status: edgar bones

You are so right about Serena but can we talk about Jenny. I understand why people hate her but I always thought she was funny and had so much potential to be an interesting foil to dan. It still infuriates me that in the first ep they have Chuck try to assault her and in her last appearance as a series regular he sleeps with her (while she's like 16) and then acts like it's her fault he and blaire aren't together. I like to think after she left she got to be the main character and had a bunch of London girlfriends
oh jenny is literally my favourite gg character and i will die defending her. the way both the fandom and the show treated her was absolutely horrendous because jenny was arguably the Best Person out of the entire main cast (second maybe to vanessa, because the way they wrote her out with that juliet/serena plot was so insanely ooc and just a way for the writers to throw the poor black woman under the bus to prop up the rich white kids) and yet she was repeatedly demonised by the writers, the fans, and the other characters.
the thing about jenny humphrey is that she made a lot of mistakes and did a lot of things wrong but she was punished far more than the ~njbc~ (hell dynamic) and even her brother ever were. jenny learned very quickly that if she wanted to survive in the world of the upper east side then she needed to learn how to play their games, and then she was hated for doing exactly that. chuck committed abuse and sexual assault and was forgiven by the audience, the writers, AND the characters (because even pre-blair, the way blair, nate, and to a lesser extent, serena, suggest that what chuck did to jenny was not a One Off and they were all just willing to look the other way). but jenny loses her best friend, her family berates her, and she's banished from the city she's lived in her whole life because of something that wasn't...really her fault. given jenny's mental state at the end of s3 and chuck's previous behaviour towards her, i do think there's a lot of ambiguity around how much jenny could Consent, especially that she regrets it immediately after (and not just because of the blair of it all).
blair's treatment of jenny also becomes grosser and grosser to me with each rewatch, because jenny did not deserve how cruel blair was to her, again and again. you could argue that jenny got her own back in the back half of s1, but her actions were a result of spending months being demeaned by blair, and basically acting as a servant for this girl she just wanted to befriend. blair is the reason behind a lot of jenny's ~corruption~, and yet blair is the one who hates jenny the most for it. and the show wants us to root for blair even in her cruelest moments, whereas jenny is seen as nothing more than a calculating bitch.
i think people would like jenny more if she just learned to stay in her place, be docile for blair, and recognise her ~inferiority~ because she wasn't born into generational wealth. sure, dan's shunned for the first few seasons, but the characters are a lot more open to him because dan rarely pushes back. jenny always does, because jenny is smart and determined and capable and refuses to spend her life being a doormat. jenny knows that power comes with a price, and she's willing to fight for it, but unlike the others, jenny isn't allowed to lose. not only because she isn't able to bounce back like blair or chuck or nate or serena, but because it's a lot harder for jenny to live with the things that she's done. serena, nate, and to a lesser extent blair and chuck, do feel remorse at times, but jenny doesn't know how to cope with the consequences of her actions. and i don't think it makes her a bad person, i think it makes her so tragic, because she's willing to play the game, but gets so caught up in it that she forgets that the rules are rigged against her. and so she loses, and the people in her life can't forgive her, but she also can't forgive herself.
and the way she's written off is so infuriating, because it does demonise jenny, who was a seventeen year old girl struggling with so many demons. in season two, she was briefly homeless, had her work ruined by someone she considered a friend, and was so badly bullied that she stopped going to school (that throwaway line about someone trying to set her hair on fire in class...what!!!) she's already in a bad place when s3 kicks off and everything that happens just sends her on this downward spiral, because she has to play the game to survive but doing it is killing her from the inside out. and nobody except nate notices or cares, and so she latches onto him and crosses the line, but of course she'd be drawn to him. everyone else in her life was either taking advantage of her, openly hating her, or ignoring her.
jenny was pushed and pushed to her breaking point and then she was demonised for finally losing it.
something that's really telling about the way the show viewed jenny is how she's just...never brought up in the context of the dan and blair dynamic. which could be my bias talking but also. dan was so overprotective of jenny in the early seasons, and even though he forgot he was a brother for the majority of s3, he's the one that recognises the chuck/jenny situation for what it is (this begins and ends with chuck.) dan knows better than anyone just how much blair tormented jenny, and yet he's somehow...willing to forget all of that once he starts getting to know blair better? i know dan can be short sighted and he hates confrontation, but he does think that people should take accountability for the things they've done, and yet never expects blair to own up to and apologise for how she treated jenny. just....insanely ooc and proof that the writers didn't think jenny's feelings mattered, and basically wanted her gone from existence.
(which is also why they allow chuck and dan to have that weird semi friendship in early s5).
all jenny ever wanted was to be accepted and loved and wanted and respected, and the characters, the narrative, and the fans punished her because she was willing to fight for those things.

Ok some Moondrop headcanons because I love him
Can be switchy on the rare occasion that he's in the right mood for it, but in general he's just a very vicious ler
Not as ticklish as Sunny because he wasn't programmed to be as sensitive, but he's got a few spots that'll take him down for at least a minute or two
Worst spots are neck, underarms, and sides, but his whole upper body is his weakness
His neck is the worst of the worst. If you spend to much time there you run the risk of him literally biting your head off.
Raspy giggles!!!
Not the type to beg. He just waits for the person tickling him to let their guard down and takes the opportunity to turn the tables.
On that topic, he is MEAN
Very sadistic sort of ler, he'll stick with someone's worst spots for as long as possible and refuse to relent
Very very methodical; while he's not opposed to doling out more opportunistic, spur-of-the-moment tickles, he's great at playing mind games with his victim to induce maximum panic
Also a teasy asshole
Lots of cooing and sing-song voices and clicks and baby talk. It's very fun for him.
This bitch basically invented the itsy bitsy spider. He got the idea from satan probably
"Keep your arms up! We don't want the poor spider to get trapped..."
The build-up is almost as fun for him as the act itself. Almost.
Tickles people as a punishment. The infraction itself doesn't really matter, it's could be major, minor, or non-existent. He's just a dick
As truly vicious as he is, he's also totally capable of administering more soft, playful tickles. Whereas Sunny is inclined to tickle people to cheer them up, his specialty is using tickles to wind people down.
Of course, this can definitely tie into the punishment thing: refuse to sleep? he'll just tickle you until you're either too exhausted or too desperate not to give in
But he also loves using feather-light tickles and affectionate teases to get people calm and happy enough to drift off
If it's someone he's incredibly close with he'll even utilize "kisses" on the forehead and cheeks while he twitches a few fingers along their belly or sides
(ik he doesn't have actually have a working mouth but how cute would that be)
Sunny is his most regular victim, and because they're so close he gets both his hardest and softest methods, depending on the circumstances
Sunny has complained that Moon is the meanest with him. He did not feel bad
Tldr Moon is a demon and a sweetheart

AU where Deidara becomes inexplicably fond of 'Tobi' to the point of just going 'fuck it' and following Obito into crazytown and, if Obito survives The Kaguya Nonsense, he now has a bitchy art school grad student following him around like "you fucked with my head for a year after making people pressgang me into a terrorist cell, now it's my turn to fuck with you." This is partly because this one post lives in my head rent-free.
(Brainstormed on discord with help from @britishassistant. Please note that while I do usually headcanon Dei as nonbinary, this brainstorm kept to he/him pronouns and referring to him as a boy.)
Confession that this arose because I keep imagining 'person travels back to the Founders Era and wreaks havoc via Confusions, using different characters capable of 'why the FUCK' reactions every time, pinged on T7+Obito but Obito had to bring Deidara and everyone Regrets, because... boom.
Nobody wants Deidara involved, except Deidara. People especially do not want Deidara and Sai in the same room, because between Deidara's hands and Sai's 'commentary,' someone's going to get murdered. -- (Deidara is of the opinion that he should be involved in everything where there is the potential for blowing something or someone up. Deidara was sort of invited, in that Obito refuses to leave him unsupervised, but nobody really wants him, like, doing things.)
Team Seven is trying to help push a peace treaty through for the Senju and Uchiha. Keeping an eye out for Zetsu, Obito's talking Madara around as the person who actually knows him best, Naruto is Vibing with Hashirama on a level nobody hoped they'd reach, Sakura's smoothing ruffled feathers by healing the dying, Yamato is demonstrating Mokuton as evidence of something, and Kakashi has his hand over Sai's mouth so they don't cause an international incident. Sasuke isn't helping, just kind of in a stare-off with Izuna.
And then Obito says, "Wait, shit. We're missing a blonde." "Where's your idiot, Obito?" "He's not my idiot, Bakashi, he just--" BOOM "Ah, shit." [cue maniacal laughter in the middle distance]
"This is why I told you to keep an eye on him while I talked to Madara!" "I told Sasuke to do it!” "Why do you expect Sasuke to do anything you tell him to do?"
Part of what I was going for was: 1. Deidara and Obito have a preexisting relationship that angles heavily towards mutual antagonism due to the whole Tobi thing. 2. Deidara is both completely unhinged and capable of mass destruction, which means he's perfectly set to Cause Problems. And of course 3. This means a role reversal where Obito finds the shoe on the other foot because now he’s the one trying to rein in Deidara.
Obito is 100% done with Deidara, but this asshole is kind of his responsibility? Like? What's he gonna do, hand the kid over to Onoki? Nah, bruh, his douchebag teenage sidekick deserves better than Iwa. -- (Deidara does not, in fact, deserve better than Iwa.) -- It’s like Deidara is his kid or something, like he knows he’s hellspawn but he’s Obito’s hellspawn.
Madara: You came to convince us of peace, yet you bring-- Obito: No, shut up, it's better than leaving him to his own devices, at least this way I can stop him. Hashirama: How do we convince the Daimyou this is a good idea? Madara: We need to make him think there's a bigger threat, maybe? One that he can't fight without united shinobi clans to hire, rather than pitting us against one another to maintain his economic dominance. Hashirama: But there aren't any bi-- Deidara: I VOLUNTEER
Obito: So what are we going to do? Deidara: Blow up buildings belonging to the rich and powerful. Obito: And what are we not going to do? Deidara: ...blow up the innocent? Like kids? And poor people? Obito: Okay, yes. That's pretty much it. Deidara: Wait, can I blow up a monastery? Obito: Do you want the Shinigami to come after our heads?! No!!! Deidara: What if it's a Jashinist temple? Obito: We have seen evidence that one exists, do you really want to risk it?
Hashirama, full of 😀 : I brought dango! Deidara, to Obito: Are you going to eat it with your eye again. Madara, Izuna, all the Uchiha: [turn to stare] Obito: Literally why do I put up with you.
(Deidara is that one kid who Delights in telling everyone about the weird and dumb shit Obito pulled as Tobi.)
Deidara: Hey, dipshit, you wanna-- Obito:
Tumblr media
Also, Kakashi has his four brats so Obito gets to keep Deidara. It’s only fair. -- Kakashi at least has Tenzo to coparent, and some of his kids are well-behaved... ish. They try, at least. Obito's just got a Hell Child who actively delights in causing mischief and mayhem. -- The most Naruto's going to do is dye your hair in your sleep. Sai makes dick jokes and Sakura punches things, but overall, they're not bad kids! Sasuke is. Sasuke. But that's okay, that's why there's a solid five people in that team to handle his bullshit.
Whereas Obito is stuck. With an art school grad student. -- Deidara is contextually the epitome of "I think I will cause problems on purpose." -- (Deidara... is what Tenzo would call “a bad influence.”)
Btw? Keep Sai and Deidara away from each other. Kakashi learns that the hard way. -- "Captain, the art kids are fightingggggg!"
Kakashi: Obito get a handle on your disaster Obito: DON’T YOU TALK ABOUT MY BOY THAT WAY
Jumping back a tiny bit though, Obito regularly asks Yamato to use his Mokuton to seal up Deidara's chakra for a bit. (Is this how it works in canon? Probably not, I think it's just bijuu chakra, but I also Do Not Care.)
But honestly, when it comes to Team Seven, Deidara is that one older cousin at family reunions that teaches you how to hotwire a car. -- Deidara is okay with Naruto and Sakura, ish. -- He antagonizes Sai in a way that ends in tears. -- He. Has to be kept away from Sasuke. For a variety of reasons, most of which have to do with Eyes and Explosions and Itachi.
Sasuke barely remembers who Deidara is, he’s just grumpy he couldn’t bring anyone from Taka with him.
Meanwhile Taka is just. They’re assholes? Taka bitches enough to hunt him down. They excuse it with "Juugo needs you" -- "I'm in a different dimension, eighty years in the past, how did you..." -- "Science ninja. Best sensor on the continent." -- "Also we asked Orochimaru for help." -- "Yeah, we asked Orochimaru for help."
Taka being there signals a marked improvement in Sasuke’s demeanor and cooperation, and Kakashi just resigns himself to having four more kids. -- Juugo is a godsend when he's not being set off into a homicidal rage. And he apologizes! Meanwhile, Karin and Suigetsu are The Worst.
T7+Obito and Deidara have been in the past and bullying the clans into a peace for like a week and then they just hear MASSIVE ROARING a mile away and Sasuke's like "Oh, hey, it's my idiots." -- Sasuke’s grinning for the first time in weeks. (It’s tiny and barely perceptible but it’s there.) -- I don't know that Taka could actually help at all, but they sure can cause more problems. Unlike Deidara, most of them are not intentional.
Suigetsu: Hey, Sasuke, so I know that Deidara guy tried to kill you... Sasuke: He did? Suigetsu: --but would you be mad if I tried to hook up with him? Sasuke: I don't care, knock yourself out.
(Suigetsu is the kind of man that wears tearaway pants just to reveal rainbow leggings that say "I'M GAY" on them. If Suigetsu and Sasuke didn't have at least one 'no homo' make-out session... well, I wouldn't put money on it either way, but I do think it's a valid reading of the text.)
------------------
Deidara: What's it like when Obito actually decides to be serious? Kakashi: Uhhhhhhhhhhhh Obito, previously:
Tumblr media
Kakashi: Trauma. It's trauma.

Right or Wrong Challenge
Introduction
I had stumbled upon this challenge after seeing it pinned at the top of the One Piece Amino featured page back in April 2019. It was the first challenge I entered after actually becoming active. I decided to polish this blog a little (aka match the formatting to Tumblr, hope I don't fuck up-), to post it here as well •^•
Decided to pick the imagine-yourself-as-marine-so-which-justice-do-you-follow-for-reasons question the leaders of this challenge set up. On the one hand because it seemed interested, on the other hand because it looked like it might be one of the easier questions to answer for my 🍞 brain. After typing out everything though, I can say that it's actually tougher than it looked like at the first glance to be honest. Especially not deciding what justice and why..
The challenge question set up was
"If you were a marine, whose justice would you follow and why? Or do you have your own sense of justice? If so, explain."
Definition(s) of Justice
Many people define justice by other things, like how they know it, how they feel about it, if it's important or not, what makes a decision just or unjust.
That leads us to a spot where there are a few points to consider. So first off, it makes sense to start by breaking up the meaning of justice using three methods.
First option:
"Justice [noun], coming from the Latin word 'justitia'; refers to just behaviour or treatment, the quality of being fair and reasonable as well as the administration of the law or authority in maintaining this." - Oxford Dictionary.
Second option:
"Justice, at it's base, means 'to be just, fair'. Most commonly however, the meaning of justice is to punish a criminal that has done something wrong in a suitable manner that fits their crime." - One Piece.
Third option:
"[...] Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!" - Doflamingo during the Paramount War.
So far:
Firstly, to sum up: In the end, the first two definitions go hand-in-hand with each other. The definitions of justice are in some thing close to each other and in some things they are far apart from each other. On the whole this means that even though they both use different words, are the same in the end of the day.
Secondly, hence the Marine is actually the "good" fraction in One Piece whereas the pirates are the actual antagonists, they have to shoulder and act out their role as eyes and sword of the law, judging over those who were unjust towards the law due to criminal activities.
Thirdly, the way Doffy looks at justice is also interesting though, hence he points at the fact that those with the great power usually decide what justice is. This way the stronger fraction also decides what is right and what is wrong. I wanted to put him into this as well because his viewpoint is interesting, too, even though he's not a Marine.
But now let's get back to the topic, shall we~?
Lastly: Moreover, every single one of the forms of justice has its right and a good reason to exist. Why you ask? Because not every living being thinks the same way like another. Even animals seem to possess another sense of righteousness and justice as humans - in addition, they differ from animal to animal as well. The effect of this is that Kuzan's statement he gave to Jaguar D. Sauro back then, that "The thing called 'justice' changes its shape... Depending on where you stand." is true, too. As a result, every form of justice is true - only depending on from which side you look at it.
Despite this freedom of opinion like with this topic, the Marines' general way of justice can be looked at as some sort of 'ridding the world from everything evil existing there".
Tumblr media
Types of Justice
Since there are multiple types of justice given in the world of One Piece, lead by the Admirals, the CP9 and other Marines, I'll explain each of them.
Akainu's Absolute Justice:
Tumblr media
His motto regarding the Absolute Justice is the "Thorough Justice". He seems to stick to this doctrine as close as possible, yet seemingly does not to mind going against it on the other side, judging by how he reacts to Coby, deserters, pirates and the likens. If Sakazuki comes up with any issues regarding illegal activities, I believe it's better to rethink these choices and to put in at least a bit of benevolence. It's an efficient option to differenciate well between those who can be taken down without major consequences or remorses and those who can "stay".
Lucci's Dark Justice:
Tumblr media
Supposedly the CP0's kitty cat can be compared to Batman - to a certain degree at least. He bases his sense of justice on his own personal philosophy of "Neccessary Evil". Thus, he only destroys those who go against the interests of the World Government to defend them ( = the interests). For this, he himself becomes evil to support his ideals. Besides the fact, that he doesn't seem to care much about it, possibly comes from the WG deciding what justice is for him and the other CP agents. Thus, this results in him having his reasons for choosing this type of justice.
Aokiji's Lazy Justice:
Tumblr media
The Lazy Justice (before it was the Burning or Fired Up Justice) is the rather laid-back opposite of the Thorough Justice in my eyes. It underlines his lack of interest and relaxed attitude towards many things as long as he doesn't think about a situation worthy enough for him to intervene. This is part of Moral Justice, thus acting according to it when it's needed. It shows well how he doesn't care about much that happens around him besides the complexity of his character. The Lazy Justice could be a sign to point out that it doesn't always need a ruthless man leading the sword of justice, but can also take a more relaxed but equally capable.
Fujitora's Blind Justice:
Tumblr media
Besides the Moral or Virtuous Justice type of motto Isshō follows, he sticks to his own ideals instead of the Marine's Absolute Justice doctrine. He acts according to what he thinks to be morally fine like bringing those to justice who act without moral or anything. All this is underlined by the fact that he took his own eyesight to never see the unjustice of corruption done otherwise. This way Fujitora goes as far as taking responsibilites onto himself which other members of the Marine wouldn't have had to take otherwise if they were in his shoes.
Kizaru's Unclear Justice:
Tumblr media
As its name states and how he possess a neutral attitude towards the Absolute Justice, it's somewhat unclear, how to define his type of justice. Except for the fact that it's mercy what he lacks, he doesn't really show a lot of passion or anything to pursue justice most of the time, however. If things restrain him from achieving his goal he only gets slightly annoyed and that's it, unlike Sakazuki for example.
Smokers' Eat Shit Justice:
Tumblr media
He follows his own path of justice, unlike the majority of his colleagues do. Out of most of the Marine, he appears to be the most "normal" out of the bunch. Smoker seems to act on some sort of "be nice to me or I'll kill you" codex, like it was shown back during the Alabasta Arc for example. His Eat Shit Justice may be one of the more humane types of justice. After all though you shouldn't get on his bad side then or it surely will be over as soon as it is like with the other types of justice.
Conclusion Time
Now, to the interesting part. Whose justice would I and why?
That's actually a really tough decision. I had to think a lot between three types of justice, yet all of the ones mentioned above have their pros and cons. Eat shit, Lazy and Blind were the ones I couldn't choose between first.
But behold.. In the end I came to my current point: By a high chance I would follow Smoker's ideals of justice - as long as I understood and interpreted it correctly and not completely wrong, of course.
Why I chose his one over the others, you want to know?
The answer is simple. It's partially a thing of good education, I suppose. My landlords (called ✨ parents ✨ by some others) always said I have to be nice to others unless they become rude, there's the point then to just go out of their way. Just a typical thing every little kid hears, one day after another, so nothing special. Over the last few years however (to be exactly back when I came into 5th grade, middle school), I kind of accustomed myself to not always just take diverse comments, rude behaviour and all the likens because not all of the other students of my year were nice. Since then I decided to not take shit from most others who are constantly rude and toxic, especially for no reason. That's the reason why I follow the motto of "Be nice to me and I'm nice to you. Be, constantly, a bitch to me and I'll bitch back so eat shit, you idjit.".
Outroduction
Yee, so that was the blog •3• I surprisingly won with it, although it was the first one I had ever written, I've linked the original post from OPA. Looking back now, it sort of feels like a very lame, plain and boring character analysis and by now, I'd put far more effort into it.

Why Momo Yaoyorozu would have been a more effective hero as a plus size woman.
Hello all, it’s time for a BNHA rant. A rant in my opinion that is long over due, and that my friends is on one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Momo Yaoyorozu AKA Creati.
Buckle up lads were in for a hefty analysis. (Note the read more) I promise it’s worth the read.
Now, we all know Class 1-A’s vice class rep and resident braniac Momo.
Tumblr media
Just in case you’re new here or need a refresher, Momo’s Quirk is called Creation. The basic breakdown of her quirk is that her body uses the Lipids (fats) in her body to create any inorganic material of her choosing.
Now, there’s two key things to remember about her quirk.
First, her quirk requires her to use her physical body reserves in order to function
Second, she has to know how to make those matierals. From bottom to top. That means she has to not only have a design of what she wants in her head but the exact molecular compounds to create those objects as well.
Momo to her credit does this well. She’s been flushed out slightly enough to see various instances where she’s had to improve either on her knowledge of materials and compounds or her speed to achieve the full creation of an item. It’s something we see from her constantly in both the Manga and the Anime.
For example, the first time we are (formally) introduced to Momo’s quirk she creates a few items
A staff for herself, a sword for Jirou, a net to contain the thugs, a thick insulated blanket large enough to cover both her and Jirou, and finally the remembrance of her hero suit.
These items all together begin to wear Momo out as she’s left panting and even tells Jirou that she has a hard time creating such taxing objects on her body. This is stated to the audience the first time we see her in action. It takes her time, concentration, and most importantly her body’s lipid reserves.
This is the first time we see Momo wear herself rather thin. While this in itself is impressive and a great introduction into the character and her abilities and strategic wit in a battle, the rather more harmful implications are yet to be seen. This incident, while foreshadowing her later issues, does not compare to other instances later on the series.
There are three key issues with Momo as she is currently.
Her body/character design inherently limit her abilities as a hero.
The push for her to be a sexy hero/character is ultimately determinetal to her effectiveness as both a character and a hero.
Her intellect is not reflected by the way she operates as a hero. Instead, it is often negated for the sake of her design.
These points seem vague or over harped but I’ll go into detail about them. (Hang in there, this is well thought out and developed, I promise)
But before I get into the key issues and solutions, there’s a lot that’s absolutely fantastic about Momo.
Momo is a great character because she is more than the typical snobby rich girl trope. In fact, she’s not at all snobby. She is the most helpful, kind, and oblivious rich character I’ve ever seen. It’s part of her personality sure, but it’s not the only factor. It’s more or less just a gag for laughs between the other characters.
She is also relatable in the way she has self worth issues, different from Midoriya’s self worth issues. She was never (that were aware of) beaten down or belittled. Her issues sprouted from the way she was confident in her abilities, intellect, and quirk only to be thrown in the deepend UA.
Which idk about y’all, but honestly that shit hits home. If you were ever the smart-kid-who-learned-quickly-and-skated-through-school-only-to-be-out-of-your-depth-with-new-self-worth-issues-when-that-is-no-longer-the-case (or anything similar) than you catch my drift. So score for relatability.
Alas, onwards.
Let’s tackle the first problem.
The way she treats her body now is detrimental to her quirk usage long term.
I’ll explain,
Momo’s quirk functions relatively similar to another hero we are later introduced too, Fatgum.
Now I know what you’re already thinking,
“Bea! She’s supposed to be sexy! She’s supposed to be feminine! Her quirk burns it all so she can look like that! Fatgum has to only store it all!”
On some levels you’re right.
On most though, incredibly wrong.
Momo’s figure is one of the main (and slightly controversial) aspects of her character. I mean, look at her design versus Fatgum’s
Tumblr media
See the key differences? I sure do.
Fatgum’s quirk is called Fat Absorbtion. Basically it grants Fatgum the ability to adhere any objects to his body and make them sink into his body fat upon contact with it. And/Or he can build and channel all of the fat in his body into one overpowered and energized punch or attack. (As seen in the overhaul arc) which leaves his body, you guessed it, deprecated and thin. Much like Momo’s, they both use their body’s fat as a tool whether through expelling it or storing it for later use.
I point this out because we see time and time again throughout the series where Momo pushed herself to the limit where she has to expel extraordinary amounts of her body to get the job done. But in reality she only makes a few larger objects. This compared to Fatgum who uses his fat reserves strategically and only in the toughest of battles does he push his body’s reserves to zero. Whereas Momo does this constantly. This is because of her inefficient way of treating her quirk and ultimately, her design.
Let’s discuss some prime examples:
In the training camp arc, Momo makes roughly 15-30 masks for all of Class B students, and half of Class A. Which in itself is a tall order. When we see her again, she’s bloodied, exhausted, barely conscious, worn, and welded to Awase half alive. She even struggles as she makes the tiny tracker she places on the back of the Nomu. After this, in the hospital (pre Kamino rescue) she was unconscious for a day and half due to quirk overuse and dehydration.
Third, in the first movie, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, we once again see Momo’s fatal flaw as she and a group of Class 1-A students race through the security tower on I-island. She uses her quirk to make cannons of course, a Momo signature, to fend off the security bots fairly early on in the battle. As she continues to make ammo and other items needed to win the battle Momo teeters on the brink of passing out from, you guessed it, dehydration and starvation. Jirou ends up catching Momo as she’s nearly passes out from the lack of fat/substance in her body after making the cannon and ammo.
Tumblr media
Then we see the same issue in the second movie My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. Where Momo is used both to create extra supplies on the island. She passes out after that alone and only wakes up later as the class is regrouping after four villains attack simultaneously. Even after rest and food, we see her later again to make two massive cannons as the first line of defense against the incoming villains. From the start of the second battle Momo is worn out and clearly lacking in lipids to participate fully in a fight. Here, she even keels over and says that she’s at her limit and looks like she’s on the brink of death via dehydration and starvation. Which she very much is.
Tumblr media
We also so see this in Provisonal Licensing Exam arc when Momo, Tsu, Jirou, and Shoji are trapped together by a group from another school. Here this is important because the leader of that group has super intelligence granted to her by her quirk (and tea lol) has come up with a “fool proof” plan to beat the group. The bottom line of that plan is simple. Wear. Momo. Out. Which half way works too, until Momo figures out what the other group is trying to do and thinks her way out of that situation. Although, she does use up a decent amount of her body’s reserves before she figures out their plan.
Tumblr media
^^^ this scene brings up an extremely concerning point. If a villain knows what her quirk is, and has i don’t know, seen her, then they’re going to do the exact same thing Saiko (the girl in the photo above from the licensing exam arc) attempted to do. Exhaust Momo’s resources.
Now, this has been brought up once in the actual show. During the training camp arc, we see each students training method (designed by Aizawa) in order to overwork and strengthen their quirks. For Momo, that looked like binge eating and creating simultaneously.
Tumblr media
This also shows us that Aizawa is at least somewhat paying attention to the drawbacks of her quirk. He may not have been there for some of the more concerning times she’s over worked herself, but it’s not a hard thing to work out just by how she looks and how her quirk functions. He also sees how her speed with her quirk hindered her like in her battle against Tokoyami. However, this is the only time we see this. Plus, this is not nearly enough of solution to the problem. Which in all honesty is simple.
For all intensive purposes, Momo should be a Plus Sized woman.
Not just for diversity or validity of readers. Although it would have been a score for the plus size community since it’s always lacking here for us bad bitches but because it would have been more natural to her character. If she had a bulkier physique or even just a chubbier build she would be way more effective in a battle or even just as a hero.
Her quirk burns the fat in her body instantly while in use. Which means she needs to have a healthy reserve of it at all times, especially since I’m willing to bet her metabolism is crazy fast. Relying on the normal/average caloric intake is irrational for her quirks functionality. Her diet should look more like Fatgum’s where we see him constantly eating in order to fuel his quirk. At the very least, Momo needs to always have foods dense in fats on hand in case she’s in a dire situation where she’s running low on reserves. She would be much more effective that way. I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve watched a scene where she’s wearing herself out and been exasperated by the fact that she didn’t have even a simple granola bar on her for emergencies.
Hear me out,
Plus size people are extremely capable of doing extraordinary things. As well as also being fit while still having a larger/healthier frame. It’s not all that uncommon. In fact, it’s something that fictional storytelling (an ex machina if you will) isn’t needed in order to cover the realistic applications. There are plenty of people in the word who are of a larger build and are also active, fit, and in overall good health standing.
In real life, Ashley Graham is an excellent example. For those who aren’t privy to this goddess, she’s a plus size model, mother, and fitness enthusiast.
Here’s just a taste of this wonderful goddesses workouts can look like:

Which brings me to my next point
The need for Momo to be sexy is detrimental to her effectiveness as both a hero and as a character.
I know, I know, half of Momo’s whole thing is being sexy, rich, and oblivious. I’m well aware.
But here’s a fun tidbit. Plus size women can be sexy too! Shocker I know! Sarcasm aside, having Momo be a plus size woman wouldn’t hinder her sex appeal if done correctly. In fact, I think it would only make her more appealing, marketable, and effective narratively.
Not that she really needs to be sexy at all, but we will swing back to that.
Remember Ashley Graham? The model I mentioned like a paragraph ago? Well, she’s an example that plus size women can be just as sexy/attractive as anyone else. Which only proves that Momo could still have been an attractive character even as a plus size woman. In fact, it would have been uplifting to see a plus size character who’s whole gag isn’t revolved around them losing weight to fit a societal goal, but instead a character who is plus sized, healthy, and proud. Who utilizes her body in a positive manner. I mean imagine the marketablility to younger audiences! If you still don’t believe me that a plus size woman can still be attractive and show skin like Momo would ultimately have to do in order to use her quirk, check out Ashley motherfuckin Graham doing just that
Tumblr media
No matter how they would have gone on to design her as a plus size character, she could have still been stunning. Even if they kept her in the same costume design! Which is garbage but that’s a tangent for another time
But beyond equality and all that good stuff:
Momo being a plus size woman would mean she would have more ability for long term endurance in a battle. As it stands now, Momo taps out of a battle fairly fast. She’s tends to make one larger item and then she’s tapped. Which is highly inefficient in a battle. If anything it seems to be on par with how Midoriya’s quirk affected him in the beginning of the series. He had to sacrifice a part of his body in order to land an effective attack. Sound familiar? Well yeah. Because Momo does the same thing with Creation and she’s had it for years.
Each time Momo over uses her quirk, she’s left on the brink of passing out, if she hadn’t already, leaving her vulnerable and useless in the field alone. Each time she’s pushed herself past her limit she’s had her classmates to catch her when she falls. That’s not practical. Aizawa said it himself in the quirk apprehension test way back in chapter 6 of the manga.
Tumblr media
So why is Momo considered differently? Why doesn’t Aizawa say something? Simple. He’s typically not around for these occurrences.
Momo doesn’t have to over use her quirk in simulations. She only does that when there’s real stakes and people on the line. The issue with that is that once she leaves UA, the stakes will always be real, all the time. Isn’t now the best time to nip this issue in the bud? I think so. But also I understand how Aizawa either hasn’t fully caught on, or hasn’t dealt with it. I mean, between villain attacks and our main character constantly almost killing himself recklessly in battle, he’s got a lot on his plate.
The other issue with her “sexy” design is that it negates from her overall character. In all official art we see for BNHA we see Momo typically left out, or hypersexualized. This detracts from her substance of being intelligent and creative. She’s often the butt of the joke when it comes to Mineta’s perverted jokes/schemes as well. Between the cheerleader outfits incident and the locker room scene Momo is constantly written off. Whereas Midnight, a pro hero and teacher at UA, who is known for her sexiness and uses it as her brand, uses her sexuality effectively without diminishing her actual worth as a hero or teacher. But then again Midnight is an adult, who is branded as the 18+ hero. Momo is a student and minor. But y’all still aren’t ready for that conversation yet.
Which brings me to the final point of this long winded rant. (Thanks if you’ve stuck around this long! We’re almost done! Follow me if you don’t already. I write stuff, paint stuff, and theorize/analyze stuff for bnha)
The way Momo is now, Discounts/Negates her supposed intellect
As I’ve mentioned already in this rant, how Momo operates now isn’t working out so well on her favor.
But that doesn’t really make sense considering she’s so fucking intelligent. I mean she’s literally top of the class academically. There is no reason for her to be so brilliant and also so bullheaded in her own quirk use. She shows us time and time again that she has brain power. Her quirk requires she be extremely intelligent in order to comprehend and apply molecular compounds in order to even sort of correctly use her quirk.
So it makes no sense that such simple solutions evade her constantly. Like I find it extremely hard to believe that Momo has never thought, “hmm I’m on the brink of death, maybe I should have eaten more” or “the last few battles left me weak, maybe I should find a solution or ask a teacher,” or even “man, my endurance isn’t all that great. I should work on that,” like anything along those lines would lead her intelligent brain to the conclusion that since whatever caloric intake she’s doing now is far to easy to burn through and perhaps the simple solution is to gain more fatty mass.
It honestly discounts Momo as a character if she’s constantly breaking down when such a simple solution is available to her. Plus on a more lighthearted note, it would be kind of great for Momo to be old money rich and plus sized. I mean it would be kind of ironically hilarious in my opinion.
Okay Bea, so what’s the point?
The point my friends is that female characters can be so much more. Especially Momo. There is always an opportunity for characters like Momo and Ochako (who’ll I’ll be breaking down next/soon) to have more substanse and impact to them than just being the second line of defense sexy characters.
Even in the actual universe that is BNHA, Momo as a hero student has far more potential than she is currently operating at.
Now, don’t get me wrong I understand that Horikoshi has a plateful of characters to deal with and Momo is probably on the bottom of the list, but it doesn’t mean we can’t imagine more for her. Because honestly it doesn’t even really matter if she changes for the better or not in canon, it’s the idea that there’s a character out there who all people can relate to whether it be average watchers/readers, plus size hopefuls, people with insecurities, readers/viewers who just like her quirk/design, or someone like me who saw a character and gravitated to the mostly relatable way she was written.
I love Momo as a character truly, she’s one of my favorites and I heavily associate with her. (Shocker I know, I mean she’s literally my icon that I painted myself) I am in no way tearing the character, franchise, or Horikoshi down. I am just observing what could have been (or could be but probably not) and pointing it out. So that maybe, just maybe, in the future there will be more characters who others can relate too. Other characters who are used at their full inspirational potential. But also, to point out some things that not only round out perspective on a character, but maybe even highlight how worth it it can be to look deeper into a characters through analysis. Hopefully I’ve done at least one of those things through this long post.
_____
Finally, thank you if you read this far into my gigantic breakdown.
Follow me if you don’t already and want too. If you do already follow me, please reblog so that others can read it if they want too.
I plan on doing more character breakdowns for BNHA, I’ve got a few already in the drafts and a cc if you have suggestions or questions. I also write fics for BNHA, so check out my AO3 link on my blog page for that. Also, you can bet your ass I’ll be writing a plus size Momo fic sometime soon. I’m really inspired on the topic (if you couldn’t tell already).

Hey kc ship yourself and your moots with tokyo revengers characters if you didn’t already do it! We want to know more about you and Koko!
how am I supposed to ship anyone with anyone but myself ????? I'm only gonna do a small handful of moots so if you see this and u weren't tagged don't take it personal! I literally just looked at my notifications and picked the first group I saw.
my top 3 self ships are tora, koko, and sanzu. for me and tora, he has mommy and daddy issues and I'm there to be both for him. he's so needy and whiny and I'm a service dom so it makes so much sense <3 I let him indulge in whatever he wants and I'm never mean to him. koko and I both like a power struggle but in the end koko is a bratty switch that I like to put in his place. where kazu hangs off of me, koko hangs on to me. in public he's very high and mighty which I am too so that makes for two bad bitches making everyone feel like garbage for even existing in our presence. me and sanzu are just chaotic. we're both the same mbti and sanzu is my top tokyorev kin. we're loud and chaotic and aggressive and toxic but in the best way possible because as soon as it comes to anything sexual he's on his knees begging for me. but we're perfect for each other bc our minds work the same way. anyways.
@cumfuyu besides me, I will always ship sar with tora or mitsuya. tora because tora is our gf and we share her. mitsuya bc sar needs someone who is understanding and sympathetic of emotions and someone who can give him the time of day to stop and validate them. mitsuya is an infj so he's really good at being the counsellor friend while still providing a level of emotional validation and sympathy that sar needs <3
@dracutora listen as a baji kin as well as a sanzu kin duckie needs someone who is fucking off their rocker but stable enough to be the voice of reason. sanzu is a little too off his rocker and he lacks the stability, but baji has a nice balance of both. off his rocker when he wants to be, stable when he needs to be. but duckie needs to be the most off their rocker in the relationship so they aren't outshined which is why baji works so well here.
@wakaslut I'm gonna say rindou as the top ship mostly because I think if anyone is gonna be happy to not go out 5 times a day it's rindou. he's completely happy to just sit and hang out and chill inside, not really seeing the point in someone going out, coming back, going out again, so on and so forth. he wants to do one weekly outing where all the tasks are managed at once and that's it. however rindou isn't afraid to have fun either, and I think he'd be the one most capable of bringing out that side in the duo because his approach is much less in your face obnoxious.
@01-1987 HELP I WANNA SAY SANZU BUT I CANT STOP MYSELF FROM SAYING IZANA. so ofc we're gonna go with sanzu which we all know but izana as well just feels??? like it works here??? izana is a lot like sanzu in the way that he is unhinged and toxic. but izana I think has a little bit more of a desire to be nurtured whereas sanzu has more of a desire to nurture and in this case I think both work, but izana brings out that protagonist tanjiro-type aura that comes with being an enfj in aly a little bit more and I think thats underrated and cute
@r-indou sweet ran he is the perfect amount of silly extroversion with just the right amount of room reading abilities for this pair to work. I think the levels of enjoyment and pure fun between this pair is what makes it so special and adorable. both are just here for a good time, to have fun and be loved, and both nurture that aspect in each other really well I think
@nanaminshousewife this is someone who deserves nothing but the best. im sticking solely to tokyorev for this round of ship asks and if I had to pick it would be shinichiro. everything about him is harmonious and sweet which is exactly how you are and you deserve someone who can give you the same love and energy back.
@manjiroro pls I'm obvs gonna say mikey because sweet baby mikey needs some love and someone who will openly love him without hesitation. he needs someone who will care for him unapologetically and announce their love for him without second guesses. he wants someone who will talk about him online and post pictures of him and tag him in things and post him on their story and who better to give that love than kai <3

Why is shinobu such a great character? I love her, shes my favorite pillar.
Tumblr media
I think the single best thing about Shinobu’s character is that she’s a bitch. Wait, wait, no get back here I’m going to explain myself. I think what makes Shinobu great is that she’s THAT BITCH.
There’s a pressure for characters, especially female characters to be written with no real substantial flaws. At best they have job interview flaws, they are clumsy, oblivious, or they’re just too giving towards people. They’re too empathic. They’re too nice and they let people walk all over them, but to no real consequences.
Often characters are written to be likable, rather than to be complex and flawed. They’re written in a way that they will be likably received by an audience. Which is why the rough edges of them tend to get sanded down. I think this is a problem for both male and female characters by the way, that characters are reduced to bland characterizations as opposed to complex ones.
It’s like the difference between Uraraka and Himiko in MHA, a shonen manga that runs within the same magazine. Himiko as a character is far more developed because she is allowed to have flaws and get in the middle of bloody confrontations. Uraraka is a character who could be interesting: a hero motivated by personal greed, a child who feels that they burden they’re parents, someone perceptive and empathic but who always keeps her mouth shut for fear of tripping on other people’s feelings. She has complex flaws, but priority is given on making Uraraka look like a nice girl. Himiko isn’t nice, but she gets to like... do things.
Shinobu has flaws, and she holds onto the ugliest parts of herself, her anger, her desire for violent revenge, and refuses to improve as a person and ultimately dies to those flaws and that’s what makes her so unique and interesting. I’ll go over those underneath the cut.
1. Medicine and Poison
Shinobu’s entire character is written around this dual meaning: basically, medicine is something that both heals and hurts. Most people think of medicine as something that is comforting and nurturing, but too much medicine can become a poison that destroys the body instead. Often many drugs we use for medication are toxic in excessive amounts.
Shinobu is a character who toes the lie between a healer, which is how everyone expects her to act, and a poisoner which is what Shinobu regards herself as. She is someone capable of both. She can heal and nurture others, she can also destroy them with horrible poison. However, her arc in the story shows more and more that she chooses to poison and destroy because she doesn’t see herself as someone capable of healing.
Demons were once human. They are still capable of human feelings. They all have human desires and fell into demonhood for very human reasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tanjiro is someone who ultimately rejects the actions of Demons, but also sympathizes with their humanity. He doesn’t want to kill. He acknowledges that he has to due to circumstances, but no matter what he cannot stop seeing the humanity inside of the demons he is fighting against. Tanjiro is a merciful killer.
Shinobu is introduced right after we see Tanjiro introduced to the idea that demons have feelings and motivations and grapples with that and his own empathy. Shinobu is presented to us as a character without any empathy for demons. She is a merciless killer.
Tumblr media
Shinobu wants to repay cruelty with cruelty. She relishes in the chance. She likse feeling more powerful than the demons that victimized her. Tanjiro and Shinobu’s methods of dealing with demons are deliberately contrasted to show how different they are. Shinobu doesn’t see demons as humans, just as things, that need to be punished. She’s not wrong for thinking that demons need to be stopped and killed in order to prevent them from hurting innocent people, but torture is bad yo.
It’s even shown that Tanjiro is much more willing to accept demons who genuinely are repetant for what they did in the past like Tamayo. Whereas, Shinobu does work with Tamayo she mistrusts her and resents her the entire time. Shinobu’s view of the world is black and white, where she is the personal judge, jury and executioner of demons. Yes, that’s how most of the demon slayer pillars are introduced to us, but it’s especially drawn attention to in Shinobu’s case with her introduction, and her comparisons to Tanjiro.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically Tanjiro’s stance is I’m not going to belittle those who regret their actions, and see the humanity in demons. Shinobu’s response is I’m going to belittle the HELL out of them.
Shinobu mocks, teases and belittles because she’s someone incapable of being sincere. The main difference between Shinobu and Tanjiro, is that Shinobu’s sister is dead, and Tanjiro isn’t. Tanjiro still sees himself as fighting to protect someone whereas Shinobu only lives to pay back the damage that’s been done on the world.
Shinobu serves a dual role in the series. She’s the one who nurtures and heals everyone on the butterfly estate. She’s also the most remorseless killer of demons who physically enjoys the slaughter. She is medicine, but she is also poison.
Tumblr media
Shinobu’s anger is a very poisonous part of her personality, but rather than deal with it, and attempt to be better she’d much rather put on a fake smile and let the poison flow. We’re given a reason why. Ever since her sister died Shinobu felt like everything that’s good about her died with her sister, and now she’s indulging in the worst of herself.
Tumblr media
If Tanjiro is someone who fights out of their love for other people, then Shinobu is someone who fights out of hatred. She hangs onto that hatred because she feels like that’s the only real part of herself and she can’t be good like her sister.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a reason that Shinobu is paralleled to Doma and it’s because everything that’s positive about her, her gentle nature, her smiling, her empathy is completely faked. It’s an act that she puts on to be more like her sister while holding her resentments deep in her heart. She could be medicine or poison, and chooses to be poison.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shinobu could have chosen the path of healing or forgiveness, but she didn’t want to. She chose to die, angry and fighting instead. Her last action is tantamount to suicide. She chooses to die poisoning another, rather than try to live healing herself because she thinks she is incapable of living without her loved ones in her life. It’s not a happy ending, but it’s a powerful  writing choice. The choice not to forgive. The choice to stay angry. Shinobu is a character written with powerful emotions behind her, hiding just underneath the surface which is all fake smiles and friendly pleasantries, and that’s what makes her a compelling character.

Hello, duchess. I'm a huge Eleanor of Aquitaine fan, and i got curious about something: after her death, how did her image remained? Was she remembered as the capable and bold Queen that she was, or her story was used as a cautionary tale about how a woman should not behave, least of all a consort? I can't help but notice how most of her sucessors as Queen Consort of both France and England seemed to have a much smaller role in the country's politics, with the exception perhaps of Isabella of France, Margaret d'Anjou and Catherine of Medici, all of whom only got real power and influence after their husbands were pushed aside, as Regents. I was just wondering if this somehow was influenced by Eleanor's unusual life and doings or not.
Eleanor has one of the best reputations in history despite the pitfalls that usually befall other women in power. In relation to her successors in both England and England, Eleanor had power in her own right whereas the others were only daughters and wives of players who only had power through Regencies or coups. Eleanor was an equal to her husband (at least politically, in every other way she was superior 👑) and therefore had more of a say in the running of the Empire in Henry's reign and the reign of Richard I. Eleanor was nearly only remembered as this Queen though in more modern media, we're remembering the bad bitch she was.

core: dragon heartstring;; produced wands with the most magical power, and which were capable of the most flamboyant spells. dragon wands tended to learn more quickly than other types. while they could change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bonded strongly with the current owner. the dragon wand tended to be easiest to turn to the dark arts, though it would not incline that way of its own accord. it was also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
BIO.
walking before she crawled, amelia was a combination of stoicism and heart. she was never an easy one to pin down and made sure of that. growing up in the bones’ household there was a constant push-pull of how to present oneself. it felt like she and her siblings had to choose sides. their mother, yael, was full of light, love and compassion. their father, uriel, was all business, no play and his family was second to his career. it’s no wonder amelia was torn between who she should be. she saw edgar come to blows with uriel but gentle with yael. she saw edgar’s obvious struggle and didn’t want to repeat it so she learned to keep any bubbling emotion inside. she wasn’t going to allow anyone to see a weakness in her. whether she liked it or not, she was unconsciously following in uriel’s footsteps more than she imagined she would. she longed to have the warmth her mother had but she saw what would happen to with too soft a heart. amelia only gave her heart to those she deemed worth it. and when she did, she did she did it hard and strong. never an easy one to pin down.
growing up, amelia was lucky to have the siblings she did. they didn’t always get along but that was the nature of siblings – loving them and shared annoyance at the same time. she wouldn’t let him know it but amelia looked up to edgar. he was strong in a variety of ways and she, without his knowledge of course, wanted to make him proud. she longed for the wherewithal to stand up for herself no matter who liked it or not. amelia wasn’t one to stand up for herself the way he did. whereas she saw others abuse “standing up for themselves,” amelia learned to keep her composure. she wanted to be seen as having her life together, even if it made her appear cold to those who didn’t know her.
