Fun Fact
BuzzFeed published a report claiming that Tumblr was utilized as a distribution channel for Russian agents to influence American voting habits during the 2016 presidential election in Feb 2018.
Old but gold: 'Joy to the World' Vikings style from 2020 with extra King Aelle (& some Aethelwulf & Kwenthrith) added by yours truly for heightened delight. 👑🎄🎅 Happy Wayback Wednesday! 😊
If you're up for a musical this holiday season, check out White Christmas. Here's a piece I wrote about it for @fangirlishsite a few years ago for #WayBackWednesday.
Happy Wayback Wednesday
Here's a photo from 2009. I'm Cosplaying as Malkhai in her Listener armor, getting a picture with Twig the Fairy, at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.
I was going to get my hair cut today, until I found the amazing Establishment Wig! No longer must I cut my hair for occasions where short hair is a must! Def a bit of a wayback Wednesday shot of Fiona Apple in the daylight studios in the Puck Building, downtown Manhattan. Flash assist, with white boards down on the floor. The armor was her idea, totally. She wanted to be a warrior woman, as at that point in her career she had been photographed in mostly a very genteel fashion. So we went for it. I had 3 dozen roses all plucked and two assistants on ladders dropping them gently on her Arthurian garb.
Tried some blood on the sword as well, but in the end her astonishing eyes, literally matching the blueish gun metal of the armor owned the day. No embellishment needed.
Medium format film, Mamiya Pro II with 150mm lens. The pictures I made of Fiona, who was lovely to work with, have been played endlessly on Twitter for reasons unapparent to me. I imagine she has a fan base out there that just keeps grabbing the pictures and running them. I remain a huge fan of her music and lyrics.
The portrait in the studio was planned, staged, lit, and propped. We had a crew, and her management. Usual celeb hubbub sort of stuff.
Her manager though, upon realizing the shoot had gone long, was exclaiming that he had to get her back on the bus, which was in midtown, for a gig in NJ, I believe. "The only way we'll make it is to take the subway!" he said. (He wasn't overwhelmingly happy with me.) I looked at Fiona, and said, "Wear the armor in the subway?" She was game. (Wonderful to work with, lovely to photograph.)
We threw a coat over the armor and sword and heading for the underground. The portrait, as I mentioned in the post, was shot on medium format. The subway shot was either an Nikon F5 or an FM2. Flash on camera, running through a Lumiquest 80-20 and bouncing off the subway ceiling.
I shot like mad at rush hour, banging through about 4 rolls of film over the course of about 5 subway stops. At the end, she made the bus, and the picture most prominently published was the subway shot. Wouldn't want to take a sword into the subway nowadays. As we parted company, she knighted me. All the prep for the studio shoot went to the side, and the off the cuff rush hour snap made for a better select.
Windswept is a Simblreen Gift for all of you! I started this build on October 11th & finished it October 20th when I sent it to Bodaccia for testing. I started working on finding all the links (that I was able to find) Saturday, the 21st. Let me tell you that there are over 900 pieces of cc (and several of their swatches!) in this build… I think I’ve been dreaming about missing texture files, links, Google, & Wayback Machine every night when I finally went to bed, LOL. Bodaccia informed me of some things that needed changing, & I worked on those over Wednesday & Thursday & finished them all on Friday when I sent it back to Bodaccia for “emergency” testing. While she was doing that, I was finishing up the links & taking pictures. I think the only time I’ve worked harder & faster was when I was participating in DOTY. It is now about 4 pm on Saturday, October 28th, & I just need the Tumblr to work…
Happy Simblreen!!! I hope you are pleased with Windswept for a long, long time.

This build came about as a wish from my youngest son, Ben. He wanted a fantastical Witch Cottage to play in, & we both thought that all of you might enjoy it, too. Windswept is based on real-life architectural plans & my imagination. As many of us adults, he has loved The Sims since the beginning. In fact, both my sons (Travis is my oldest) were responsible for getting me into this game. Without my sons’ interest in this game, my love of building, landscaping, & decorating in The Sims would not have happened. Thank you, my Loves, for your push.
The Credits & Links pdf file included with the build contains everything you need to enjoy this build. Go see all of these Amazing Creators in their native habitats!
A Gigantic & Special Thank You to the following Creators who allowed me to include their content as a Gift with this build:
I want to give a Huge Thank You to all the Creators whose generous TOUs allow inclusion of their content with builds, which for this Simblreen Gift is most of you.
The few creators whose content you need to get can break between patches; they all deserve an Enormous Thank You for everything they do.
@dorocash @momo-cc aka MountainSplitter @natdreamsims @simcredibledesigns & thepancake1 and @mizoreyukii
I also want to give a Massive Thank You to the Modders/Creators whose contributions make my game easy to finagle & look gorgeous: You do impossibly great work!
Lastly, I need to thank my Bestie, @bodaccia48. She’s absolutely the Bestest Bestie there has ever been. Even though she’s been under the weather this week, she fully play-tested this build to ensure that you & your simmies can enjoy it without issue. She even dragged herself out of bed right before I did a final save of the lot to run an emergency check to make certain some necessary fixes actually worked. Seriously, they don’t come better than you, Bestie!
This one is going WAY wayback, two full zodiac cycles back to the Year of the Rabbit 1999!
The drawing on the right is the original–back then I could not run Photoshop on what I’m sure was a very busted, dusty, and ancient PC. So, in my pre-digital era, I would draw and ink the lineart on paper, make photocopies of the finished inks, and color over one of the photocopies with markers or color pencils. I did it this way so that if I screwed up the colors, I wouldn’t have destroyed the original lineart too… and trust me, I screwed up the colors plenty of times!
The drawing on the left is a scan of the lineart, with brand-new digital 2023 colors. I always find it a fun exercise to color old lineart… it’s like a collab with your younger self.
Elon Musk was giving off bitter divorcé energy while going after Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, in a now-deleted tweet.
In a Wednesday post, Tesla CEO Musk seemed unreasonably invested in how Scott has been spending the billions she was awarded in her 2019 divorce from Amazon founder Bezos.
Responding to an X user whining about Scott donating to organizations that focus on “issues of race and/or gender,” Musk declared, “Super rich ex-wives who hate their former spouse” should “be listed among ‘Reasons that Western Civilization died.’”
By Thursday morning, the thrice-divorced father of eleven’s post had been removed, but was still available to be seen via the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.
This wasn’t the first time Musk appears to have projected his anxieties onto Scott.
In a 2022 tweet explaining why he planned to vote Republican, Musk accused Democrats of being cold to his businesses due to the influence of “Mackenzie’s donation to PACs posing as charities.”
Suggesting her philanthropy was motivated by spite in another post, Musk said, “It’s safe to say that Mackenzie [ahem] Scott is not exactly a big fan of her ex-husband.”
Painting himself as collateral damage, he added, “Unfortunately, a lot of others are getting caught in the crossfire.”
Last December, Scott announced she had donated a total of $2.1 billion across 360 organizations during 2023.
The list of organizations reveals a wide range of missions and includes groups that focus on early learning, access to affordable housing, race and gender equity, health equity, [Planned Parenthood], civic and social engagement and more.
A late for Wayback Wednesday (and early for Throwback Thursday).
These are the St. Patrick's Day pics that I did - from past through present. Two of the pics (which were referenced from vintage postcards) with clovers on top of my initial(s) were done on 2017.
From one of my St. Paddy's Day 2017 pics (Victor F and Sparky), it was updated/edited because much later on after I finished it - I realized that it had an error because Sparky's patch on the back was painted over. So, I edited it. Pardon the goofs from the past, folks.
