“It Could Have Been Different - Part 2″
This is how Wakanda Forever ended, right?
This drawing really got away from me, but it’s finally DONE.  I knew that I didn’t have it in me to draw Namor in all of his Mesoamerican finery, so I cheated and got creative with Photoshop magic.  I also thought that Shuri’s outfit should be minimalist to provide a fun contrast, but of course, she’s wearing the jade jewelry that Namor had given her in Talokan.
And in a nod to Wakandan modesty, Namor actually put on some clothes a tunic.  It is his wedding day, after all.

“Aneka, you will lead this mission.
General,” the word comes off her tongue like a tease, knowing she’s driving a spear through Okoye’s heart. “Fall back.”

Vanish Pt. 1 here

A moment of silence passed.
Riri stood frozen in place, shocked at her own words, knowing she didn’t mean them.
Shuri sobbed on her knees, silently pleading for Bast to not take another person out of her life.
Hell, even Griot was quiet, not announcing your departure as he was programmed to do.
“What are you waiting for?” Shuri stood and approached Riri so quickly, the smaller girl flinched. “Why are you standing here? Go after her!”
“Shuri, I-”
“Go get her!” The Queen growled, voice cracking as she begged.
Riri’s mouth opened and closed, her brain working double time for anything to say. “She-I didn’t-”
Her responses weren’t quick enough to extinguish Shuri’s anger. The Black Panther lifted Riri’s entire workstation in one hand and threw the table and all its contents.
Iron Heart ducked, praying the impact of the desk wouldn’t take her head off. It didn't; it hadn’t even hit her, instead crashing to the wall mere inches away from her body.
“Shuri, what the fu-”
But Shuri was already on her way out of the lab, ignoring Riri and shouting orders, “Griot!”
“Yes, My Queen?”
“Do I have any visuals on y/n’s location?”
“No, My Queen. Queen Y/n has abandoned her kimoyo bracelet here in the lab.”
“What about her earrings?”
“Left behind in your bedroom, Queen Shuri.”
“FUCK,” the explicit echoed in the lab, causing Riri to retreat into herself.
“Griot, summon Nakia, Okoye, Ayo, and Aneka. I need all hands for this mission. Tell them to meet me in the throne room.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“Wait,” Riri called out, grimacing at how small her voice suddenly sounded. “What can I do?”
The doors to the lab’s entrance parted, letting Shuri leave without so much as opening her mouth to address Riri. The only sound then was that of dainty metal coming in contact with the steel floors.
Riri approached the door slowly to investigate what Shuri had left behind.
It was her wedding band.
“What is this about, My Queen?” Okoye asked, being the first to enter the throne room. Ayo and Aneka followed closely behind, their spears drawn at an unknown attacker.
Nakia was absent.
Shuri’s eyes were still puddled with tears and the anger radiating from her produced a heat the other girls could feel as soon as they approached.
Aneka looked down at Shuri’s hand, eyes searching for the wedding ring that never left it. Of course, it wasn’t there.
“Y/n is gone. We need to bring her back.”
“Gone?” Okoye mimicked. “Gone where? Who has taken her? What are we up against?”
“Sh-she left. She left us. Left behind her beads, even the earrings and her-”
“Her wedding band…” Aneka finished. “But, where is yours?”
Shuri looked down at her bare finger, unable to speak.
“My Queen,” Okoye started gently. “With all due respect, you are asking me to convene my army and explain to them our threat… Are your relationship issues?”
The Queen rose from her throne, so slowly, it gave Okoye ample time to retract her words; her steps shaking the mostly empty room.
“I am asking you to convene your army, General,” the words came out hot, burning Okoye to the core, even causing the couple standing behind her to wince.
“To ensure the safety and safe return of your Queen.”
“Shuri, she took her band off,” Okoye was a brave soul, not backing down.
“She is still your Queen! Regardless of the ring she wears. Mine is off, does that not make me your Queen, Okoye?”
“It’s not the same, Princess, and you know-”
“Queen.” Shuri’s thin body is shaking with the rage that fills it. She looks away from Okoye, even past Ayo to her friend Aneka.
“Aneka, you will lead this mission. General,” the word comes off her tongue like a tease, knowing she’s driving a spear through Okoye’s heart. “Fall back.”
The General’s eyes are wide but she nods at the command. Aneka steps forward, poised tall, and in stance. “Yes, My Queen.”
She offers a small smile to the royal, a sad, knowing one, but Shuri doesn’t return it. “Find y/n. I don’t care what it takes; resources, money, you have it all. Ensure she is safe. Br-” her voice finally breaks and the tears descend her cheeks. “Bring her home to me.”
“My Queen,” Ayo offers slowly. “What-what if she does not wish to return?”
Shuri’s chest retracts, all the air leaving her body. She hadn’t considered that; you not wanting to come home, not to Riri, nor even to her.
“I said bring her home.”
The command came out in a whisper, the Queen no longer being able to talk at a volume above that.
The Wakandan warriors brought their arms across their chest and back down, saluting their Queen before leaving the room. Only Aneka lingered.
When it was just the two of them, she rushed to Shuri, pulling her into a hug she clearly needed. “What happened?”
Shuri’s sobs swept her feet from under her and she fell to the floor, still arm-in-arm with her friend.
“She left us, Aneka. Sh-she left me.”
“Why?”
Shame rushed through the royal’s veins. “We-” she paused a beat, deciding herself unable to speak on Riri’s behalf. “I,” she corrected. “I haven’t been very supportive lately. I broke many promises. I let my work in the lab and with Riri take precedence and she felt forgotten… I even forgot her birthday…”
Aneka gasped “My Queen…”
Shuri nodded. “I’d been distracted. I let that get in the way, and now she’s gone.”
Aneka took Shuri’s left, ringless hand in her own. “That explains why she left her ring behind, but my Shuri, where is yours?”
A sinful scoff left Shuri’s lips “Probably still in the lab with Ri-Miss Williams, where I left it.”
“Miss Williams? Shuri, my dear friend, what is going on?”
Shuri is silent.
Aneka sighs “So when we bring y/n home, My Queen, will she be returning to you and Miss Williams?”
“No,” Shuri stands, tapping her necklace twice and allowing the Black Panther mask to swallow her face. “Just me.”
It’s been weeks.
Three weeks since the search for you began.
Shuri stormed into the lab, mask retracting as she entered.
“Queen Shuri has arrived.”
Riri’s head shot up from her new workstation; she hadn’t seen Shuri in days. She rarely came home anymore, spending days and nights looking for you and coming up short each time.
“Griot!” the agitated queen bellowed.
“Yes, My Queen?”
“Have we any updates via satellite? Has y/n been seen anywhere?”
“Unfortunately not, My Queen.”
Shuri’s shoulders slumped, weighing heavy with another defeat. “What about Nakia?”
“I’m afraid not, My Queen.”
“Bast!” Shuri allowed herself a second to rest her head in her hands before starting to mask up again.
“Wait!” Riri called out, approaching the Queen. “Wait, Shuri, let me help. Please, I want to find her too; I wanna know she's safe just as bad as you do.”
The Black Panther’s posture stiffened, though she didn’t speak. Riri tried again “Y-You don’t have Nakia. You need an extra pair of hands. I can help.”
Shuri laughed, an evil-sounding chuckle coming from her. “I do not need your help.” She approached Riri. “I would not even be searching for her, had you been able to hold your stupid tongue, hm?”
Riri cringed at the words Shuri spoke but didn’t shy away. “I want to help. She’s just as much my wife as she is yours, and I miss her.”
Shuri shook her head, but never let her eyes leave Riri’s face. “She is not. She will not be. When she comes home, she will be coming home to me. Damned to you.”
That rocked Riri to her core. “Shuri, come on, you don’t mean that.”
“I mean it. I mean it in the same way you meant it when you called her the forgotten wife.”
The smaller girl grimaced when her words were thrown back at her. She had been thinking over those words for weeks; losing sleep over how she spoke to you.
Before she could utter another word, Shuri left, leaving Riri where she stood, but not before the Queen noticed something that tugged at her stoned heart, only slightly.
Riri was still wearing her wedding ring.
Two weeks since Nakia returned.
“Queen Shuri, you are being summoned to the throne room.”
Shuri lifted her head, not realizing she’d dozed off in the Talon Fighter while on patrol. “Summoned? By who?” The girl asked, rubbing sleep from her eyes.
“Nakia of The River Tribe,” Griot responded.
“Nakia? She is in the throne room? At the palace?”
“Yes, My Queen.”
“Griot, return me at once.”
“Yes, My Queen.”
Moments later, Shuri crashed through the doors to the sacred room. Nakia stood on the furthest side of the room, glancing sadly out the windows. The sight of her fueled the Queen’s anger. “Where the hell have you been?!”
The former spy didn’t even attempt a fake smile. “Hello to you too, sister,” she stated smoothly, turning to face the vexed royal.
“Where is she, Nakia?”
“She is safe. That is all you need to know; it is all that she requested I share with you.”
Shuri approached her brother’s lover with claws drawn. “Nakia, Bast help you, where is she?”
“Oy? Am I to tell you? Y/n came to me, crying, your majesty. She told me her wives wanted her no longer. Rejection from one partner hurts, can you imagine that from two partners?”
The Queen couldn’t speak; The warrior continued.
“I watched, as the two of you fell out of love with her. Prioritized each other over her. You didn’t even attend the school’s opening. We’d worked on that for years, Shuri. And her birthday?” she scoffed. “You were supposed to be better than that.”
Nakia closed the gap between her and Shuri, grabbing her claw-clad hands. “You must have forgotten. You’ve forgotten who you spent your childhood with. Who grew up alongside you,” she tapped Shuri’s temple as if to bring the memories to the forefront. “You seem to have trouble recalling who was there for you when Baba died. When T’Challa died. All before Miss Riri even came into the picture.”
Shuri’s head fell, shame a feeling she was all too familiar with these days. “I had forgotten. I am trying to fix it,” she whispered, recollections of the two of you flooding her. “But I can not fix it if I do not know where she is.”
Her eyes climbed to the smaller girl’s hopeful, begging, but when Nakia closed her lips tight and shook her head, Shuri’s anger reignited.
“Demethi wena (Damn you), Nakia!”
“Yehlisa umoya, sisi (Calm down, sister). Uzofika ekhaya xa sele elugile (She will come home when she is ready)-”
“Hayi, hayi (No, no)! Ndiyamdinga (I need her). Ndiyamdinga ekhaya ngoku (I need her home now)!”
“Uya kuba nethamsanqa ukuba angafika ekhaya (You will be lucky if she comes home at all)!”
Shuri spun, Nakia’s words recoiling against her. “Intoni (What)?”
When Nakia looks away, rather than speaking, Shuri marches toward her. “INTONI (WHAT)?!” she repeats.
She takes Nakia’s face in her hands, roughly. A line of scarlet flashes from Nakia’s cheek, where Shuri’s claw is digging, but neither girl moves. “Wena (You)-” the Queen croaks. “Wena undincedile ukumkanikazi wam ukuba andisindise (You have helped my queen escape me for good)?”
“Hayi, sisi (No, sister). Ndamncedisa wahmba ade alunge (I helped her leave until she is ready).”
Shuri extends her arm, throwing Nakia forcefully into the window. The thud of her sister’s body does nothing to calm her. Nakia is barely on her feet when Shuri speaks. “Hamba (Leave). Kwaye ungabuyi ade abuye umkam (And do not return until my wife does).”
The River Tribe Warrior is shocked. “Shuri, uthini (What are you saying)?”
The Queen’s lips curl around her next words. “ Elubhacweni (Exile).”
Nakia crumbles. “Sisi, ndiyacela (Sister, please). Likhaya lam eli (This is my home).”
“Was this your home when you missed my brother’s last days? His funeral? Was it your home when you hid my nephew from me for six years, the same way you hide my wife now?” Shuri questioned, switching tongues.
“Shuri, oko akufani (That is not the same)! It was my home when I saved you and your lover’s asses from Namor! When I risked my life, though I had a son to live for. It was my home when I laid there,” Nakia pointed to the now repaired spot on the throne room floor, the events of Queen Ramonda’s death no longer staining the place. “Resuscitating your wife! Trying to save umama (mama)!”
“Lishiye ibhotwe lam, Nakia (Leave my palace, Nakia).”
One week since Riri started her own search for you.
Shuri wasn’t speaking to her, ordering Okoye, Ayo, and Aneka to do the same. Riri’s communication was cut off, even Griot subjecting her to silence.
One night, she decided enough was enough. She hadn’t been able to sleep since you left and she was growing tired of being left in the dark.
If anyone needed to find you, it was Riri. She needed to be the one to locate you and retract her vile words. There wouldn’t be an apology great enough, but she sure would try.
So Iron Heart suited up and quietly left the palace. She didn’t bother removing her kimoyo beads, knowing Shuri was no longer keeping track of her. The realization stung, but it was well-deserved. She let her frustrations get to her and that Chicago attitude and pride presented themselves.
The words spilled from her big mouth before she had time to realize what she was saying. Riri was just as hurt as you were; feeling as though the love she and Shuri showed you were going unappreciated. Their time dedicated to the lab, their sleepless nights, and their repeat failures were just to keep you safe.
“C’mon baby, where’d you go?” Riri spoke lowly to no one, navigating the suit towards Haiti. It’d be a dumb place for you to hide; Shuri would have surely checked there already.
And of course, you weren’t there.
The following day, Riri searched the States. You had no reason to be in America, but that’s exactly why you’d seek refuge there. Again, her search came up short.
Today, Riri was ready to give up. She’d spent many days, many hours looking for you all alone. If Shuri and her team hadn’t found you yet, surely Riri wouldn’t all by her lonesome.
She sauntered through the village, sadness dragging in each of her steps. “Uxolo (Excuse us)!” children’s voices called as they ran across her path. Riri stopped short, avoiding running the tikes down. “Oh, um, sorry!” the girl spoke, understanding their simple word, yet still not knowing how to respond in their language.
One child, a young girl whose hair was adorned in barrettes, turned to give Riri a wave. When she skipped back to her group of friends, she spoke “Yiza, khawuleza (Come, hurry)! Utitshala Y/n ndiza kubuya namhlanje (Teacher Y/n is to return today).”
Riri understood not a single word from the girl’s sentence as they disappeared into your school. None except your name. So she followed.
“Uh, excuse me,” she called once she entered the building, searching desperately for an adult. “Uxolo (Excuse me)?”
“Hello, Your Majesty,” a tall gentleman spoke up, approaching the short royal.
Riri cringed, her royal title sounding foreign to her these days. “Mholweni (Hello), um, hi.”
“What can we do for you? We are very blessed to be acquainted with your presence, though we were not expecting you.”
“Yeah, um, I-” Riri stuttered, unable to form a sentence, the words scrambling around her mind too fast for her lips to keep up.
“My wife,” she finally choked out. “My wife, Y/n. Is she here?”
The older man’s eyes were saddened. “No, Your Majesty. She is not set to come back today.”
“Please,” Riri was close to tears as she begged. “Um, ndiyacela (please). I heard the children mention her name. I just-” The tears flowed. “I just want to know she’s safe.”
The man must’ve felt some pity for the lonely queen, crying in his hallway, pleading. A genuine chuckle released from his chest. “Your Xhosa is not very good.” His words shocked Riri and for the first time in weeks, she laughed a real, hearty laugh. “No, it’s not,” she sniffled.
“But you are trying.”
Her head bobs as she nods a confirmation to his words.
He sighs, grabbing Riri’s hands and pulling her out of reach of passing ears. “Your majesty, tonight the school is having an event. A banquet; to raise money for the Haiti institution. The Queen has promised her return for the event. She will be here then.”
More tears flow from the small girl’s pretty brown eyes. Her queen would be back, tonight.
Did Shuri know?
With a gentle squeeze, the fellow started to leave. “Wait,” Riri called. “Enkosi, mhlekazi (Thank you, sir). What is your name?”
“Emmanuel, Your Majesty.”
“Thank you, Emmanuel.”
Riri raced back to the palace on foot, too excited to wait for the Talon Fighter, though it would have been quicker. She sprinted into the throne room, hopeful that Shuri would be there.
She was, with Aneka. “Kufuneka sijonge iHaiti kwakhona (We need to check Haiti again).  Ndiyazi Nakia umfihle apho (I know Nakia is hiding her there).”
“I found her!” Riri interrupts.
Aneka turns to the girl first, then back to her queen, who refuses to look up. “Aneka, sishiye (Leave us). Enkosi, mhlobo (Thank you, friend).”
With a nod and a salute, Aneka leaves the throne room, leaving the two queens who haven’t spoken in days.
“Shuri, baby, I found her.”
“Where is she?” the panther asks, still not making eye contact.
“She’ll be here tonight,” Riri takes slow, careful steps to Shuri, unable to gauge her emotions and not wanting to set her off. “The school’s having a fundraiser. She’ll be here.”
Shuri glances at her wife “How do you know this?”
“I went to the school.”
With a bite of her lip and a swift nod, Shuri dismisses Riri. “Thank you for the information. You may leave.”
“Leave? Shuri, what the hell do you mean leave?”
A deep, impatient sigh is brought forth by the Queen. “I know you know what leave means.”
“Nah, to hell with that, Shuri! I’m not leaving. I’m the one who gave you the intel. Imma be there with you. I’m a part of this mission now. I should have been from the start.”
Shuri steps closer to Riri, seemingly to intimidate her, though the girl doesn’t appear scared. “A mission that would have never come to pass had you not said what you did.”
Riri’s heart thumps hard in her chest. “And I’m trying to make up for it, Shuri. How am I supposed to apologize if you keep shutting me out?”
The question is rhetorical; Ri keeps talking. “You not entirely innocent in this either. You broke promises too. Ignored her just as much as I did. You,” she stabs a finger into Shuri’s armorless chest. “Forgot her birthday too, princess. Your shit stink too, Shuri. So forget that shit; y/n is my wife. That’s my girl and I been missing her heavy. So I’m coming tonight.”
A smirk sneaks its way across Shuri’s face. “There you go with that mouth again.”
“Yeah, here I go with my mouth again, a mouth I don’t know how to close and a mouth that don’t know how to hold its tongue. That’s why y’all was supposed to do it for me.”
Shuri shakes her head, frizzy curls swaying across her face. A bright smile, her first in weeks stretches her lips. “Alright, let’s bring our girl home.”
The night comes quickly and as present as you’re trying to appear at your function, anxiety is running through you. Being home brings forth a mix of emotions; excitement for the banquet, and familiarity at the faces you’ve missed. And worry that somehow word of the event that you swore your staff to secrecy over hadn’t remained confidential during your absence.
Nakia was at your side, acting as both a friend and a bodyguard. “You did not have to come,” you spoke to her. “I didn’t need protection. The queens; they will not hurt me. Shuri will be more upset at your presence than mine.”
The small scar on her cheek marked evidence of Shuri’s anger in the passing weeks. You’d apologized repeatedly to your dear friend, but she didn’t blame you. “Your wife has a temper. She always has. I’ll be fine, she just needs some time to calm down.”
Her eyes move towards the entrance of the school as the doors part and Aneka, along with Ayo and Okoye precede your wives. “Speaking of the queens…”
Hayi, akukho ndlela imbi (No, no fucking way). When you turn, the breath escapes you. Shuri and Riri. The Black Panther and Iron Heart. Their eyes locked intensely on you.
You look around at your staff, wondering which one had loose lips. “Nakia,” Shuri greeted when they approached. Nakia stays silent and Shuri continues. “I owe you an apology, for our disagreement those weeks ago. I am sorry, sisi.” To you, she switches tongues as she asks “Ikumkani wam (My queen), singathetha (can we talk)?” with an outstretched hand.
No, your heart screams, but your movements betray you. Placing your palm in hers, you allow Her Majesty to guide you outside, where the Royal Talon Fighter awaits, with Riri in tow.
None of you speak until the ship’s doors were encapsulated, providing all the privacy in the world. When they did, it was you to break the silence. A loud slap echoed in everyone’s ears, your hand coming in contact with Riri’s cheek. Breathing hard, you voiced “I’ve been waiting to do that for weeks. Sorry, Riri, I didn’t find a bitch to give your wishes of luck to.”
Shuri stood, slightly amused until her cheek was the next to be assaulted. “And you. You’re lucky I’m not skilled with any weapons for the way you returned my Nakia to me. Her face bloody, her ribs broken. What the hell is wrong with you?”
Though her face stung, Riri’s ears perked up. “Your Nakia?”
Shuri stared at you, her brain wondering the same.
“Put your petty jealousy to rest. It has been three weeks, do the two of you really think so little of me to find another lover in that short time, especially one who is so close to you, Shuri? We’ve known Nakia since we were kids.”
Shuri nods, clearing her head, and starts to open her mouth, but Riri beats her to it. She comes at you fast, throwing her arms around you so tightly, it steals your breaths. “I’m sorry, ma. I’m so fucking sorry.” The tears are already spilling down her cheeks. “I don’t know how I could have said those things to you.”
You unwrap her hold on you. “You said them because you meant them.”
Riri’s head shakes furiously. “I didn’t, y/n, my love. I swear I didn’t.”
Her eyes are swimming with sincerity and it breaks the cement that had formed around your heart. You grab her face. “You swear?”
She leans into your touch. “I will spend the rest of my life showing you I didn’t mean it, ma.”
You nod slowly. “You know I owe you more than just a slap, right? For speaking to me like I’m some bitch on the streets and not your wife of four years?”
A tiny smile crosses Riri’s features. “Let me suit up and you can take all the shots you want at me.”
“Uh, uh. You don’t get the suit.”
Your words bring a laugh from the small girl, one that passes onto you.
Shuri stands back, hands in her pocket, just watching. She’s silently wiping her own tears, but when you finally look upon her, she takes it as an in.
“Yiza apha, usana (Come here, baby).”
You obey, releasing Riri from your hold as you glide over to your queen. She pulls you in by your waist, holding your body tightly against hers. “Uyakhumbula xa ndivuma iimvakalelo zam ngawe (Do you remember when I confessed my feelings for you)?”
Your head bobs. “We were children; only about 12 years old.”
“Ewe, kukanikazi wam (Yes, my queen). And what did you tell me?”
A giggle escapes you as you recall. “Nditshate, ukuba uyandithanda (Marry me if you love me).”
Shuri shares your laughter. “Ewe, nkosazana (Yes, princess). Bendikuxelele ukuba ndizakwenza kamsinya kangangoko ndinako (I told you I would as soon as I could).”
“Kwaye wenze (And you did).”
“Nda (I did).”
The tears in Shuri’s eyes threaten to spill over. “I made that promise to you at 12 years old, and I kept it. However, for some reason, at our grown age, I made promises to you weeks ago that I did not keep.”
Your head drops just as the tears do, unable to look your wife in her face. Shuri’s having none of that though, gently grabbing your chin and pulling your gazes back into unison.
“Uxolo, sthandwa (I’m sorry, my love). Ndingu (I am). I’ve been slacking, but I won’t continue to. Please, come home. Ukukukhanya kwan (You are my light), and my world has been so dark these past few days. I can not bare it anymore.”
Her words crack any further hardening of your heart. “Ewe, sthandwa (Yes, my love). I’ll come home.”
Shuri buries her head in your neck, kissing and crying, “Enkosi,” repeating from her lips. Riri stands back, weeping harder at the display before her. You reach your hand out to her, “Yiza, ntombazana sisidenge.”
Riri stands still, eyebrows raised, brown, hopeful eyes piercing your own loving ones. “Translate?”
“Come here, silly girl.”

"Love Ever since the first moment I spoke your name From then on I knew that by you being in my life Things were destined to change cause
Love So many people use your name in vain Love Those who have faith in you sometimes go astray Love Through all the ups and downs the joy and hurt Love For better or worse I still will choose you first"
Musiqsoulchild – "Love"
His heart was in the shape of his woman.
King N'Jadaka held out his big hand next to Queen Yani's and let their wedding bands touch so the Wakandan media could snap holopics of the bride and groom exiting the Temple of Sekmet. He gazed at his new wife and her smile increased the size of her shape on the left side of his chest.
They were made for each other.
No queen on earth had ever come to the throne like her or had the power she commanded by his side. What the world couldn't see was that she held a priceless leash around his neck and could make him do things that no other woman before her ever did. Yani dominated his every waking moment and was the one he wanted to see first when his work day in the West palace was over. Their wedding cemented a holy bond and he preened before his citizens letting them see how blessed he was to have her and his beautiful children.
He lifted her ring-clad hand and kissed it, then led her down ancient fawn-colored stone steps toward a wedding carriage drawn by two mighty water buffalos whose bloodline his greatest grandmother Queen Shuriya had bred and tamed her entire life. The two giant beasts were direct descendents of the one she rode in a painting hanging in his royal office.
Sydette clapped her hands excitedly as she peered at the giant animals and the decorative vibranium blue colors painted on their flesh.
"They are so huge, Baba!" Sydette yelped.
"Come on, watch your step Sweet Pea, we have to ride through the street," he said, clasping her hand.
Riki climbed down the last step and latched his eyes onto one of the buffalo and raised his arms out wide to try and match the length of the giant curved horns adorned with gold and silver jewels that jutted forward making them dangerous for potential gorging. He glanced back at N'Jadaka and grinned. The great beast's head turned and stared at the little prince. Joba moved closer to her brother and both children peered with quiet curiosity at how massive Wakandan animals could be.
"Yani," N'Jadaka said, helping his wife onto the carriage where she took her seat and fixed the train of her dress.
He lifted Sydette into it next and his younger children waited for him to place them on board. His family seated, N'Jadaka stepped onto the roomy carriage and he and Yani waved at the crowd. Their children sat across from them with booster seats so they could see better.
The two coachman sitting in the driver's seat awaited a signal from the Kingsguard escorting them on foot. There was a slight jerk and the carriage began to move at a steady pace. The proud king kissed his queen and the crowd cheered louder. Flowers and soft palm seeds were thrown at them and the children tried collecting as many as they could catch with delighted smiles on their faces.
He held Yani's hand tight and they all watched their citizens celebrate. Behind them, the rest of the royal family rode in a protected motorcade and they wound their way through the streets of the golden capital.
Surreal.
The feeling of watching himself from afar took over and N'Jadaka took a deep inhale of fresh air. His emotions rested in his chest and throat. This was the fairy tale made real. He had a queen. A kingdom. A giant double palace. To lose so much, but to be given much more in return overwhelmed him.
He gazed at Yani and she continued waving at their people. They waited to cross over a bridge that would take them deeper into the heart of Birnin Zana and a flock of prized river birds flew across their carriage, their purple and blue wings a brilliant flash of color over their heads.
"That's a good sign, kumkani," the lead driver of the carriage said, "it means you will be blessed with many children."
Yani laughed and patted N'Jadaka's hand.
"Listen to the man, Yani, the heavens have ordained that we get it poppin'."
"Any excuse to get me pregnant right away," Yani said.
Riki slipped a hand in his side pocket and pulled out a folded square of money. He gave it to the king.
"What's this for Lil Man?" N'Jadaka asked.
"A boy. If you and Mama insist on making more of us, please let it be a boy. Toussaint and I are struggling to catch up in our age group," Riki pleaded.
"I will do what I can."
Yani took the money away from him and stuffed it into her bodice.
"Not you two plotting," Yani quipped.
N'Jadaka threw his head back and laughed.
"Mama, it's time to throw the bouquet," Sydette squealed.
The carriage crossed over the bridge and stopped once it got to the other side. As tradition dictated, Yani stood inside the carriage and tossed the bridal bouquet into the river water to signify the queen's blessing to become the new mother of the nation. The flowers floated away and spectators snapped holopics and cheered for their new queen.
"They were so pretty, I wish you didn't have to throw them away," Joba said, her face peering over the side of carriage.
Yani caressed her cheek.
"I will have more flowers given to me back at the reception," Yani said.
Joba looked happy about that and climbed onto Yani's lap for the rest of the ride through the city.
Admiration, awe, and even love flowed out to the new Udaku family taking over the throne. A tide had shifted yet again in Wakanda. His popularity was at an all time high with younger citizens, and even some of the old heads begrudgingly accepted his leadership. They finally accepted his love for the nation as genuine.
Their carriage ride continued until they reached Old Village, a section of Birnin Zana that had been the social center for centuries until Queen Shuriya pushed them into a new technological age that shifted the heart of the city elsewhere by the riverbank. While the rest of the world was barely entering the early modern era, Wakanda had already settled into post modern advances.
The family stepped out of the carriage and walked a quarter mile to another temple dedicated to Mama Wati that rested across the mouth opening of the Ibukan River which connected the water flow through the city to the ocean miles away. Priests of the water deity stood outside waiting for them. He and Yani were both anointed with fresh oils and smudged down with dried plants that only grew there. They were prayed over and then led out into an open street where citizens cheered them on while they made the final trek to the edge of the great mound, the place where vibranium crashed into the earth. Singers and dancers greeted them in a secured area where the family could all see the enormous rise in the distance where the glowing blue metal rested underneath.
Ogum shifted inside of N'Jadaka. So did Bast. He pointed to the majestic sight making sure his children studied it. "That's the place where it all began," he said.
Sydette, Riki, and Joba nodded and stared at the mound. At its tip, it stood nearly a mile high, but deep inside the earth where the rest of the vibranium sank itself, there was enough to supply his people for another millennium or more. They all felt the energy emanating from the ground they stood near. His vibram tattoo itched from the mighty source. The great mound wasn't just a mining area, but a holy place too. From their vantage point they couldn't see the mining side of the mound. Their view looked like an image one would see on a postcard or tourist advertisement. High above them the Royal Talon Fighter floated into view. It was time to return to the palace for a twelve course feast, with music, dancing, and a full evening of celebrating the new king and queen.
N'Jadaka gathered his family close as they were lifted up into the air by the gravity beam and gently pulled inside the aircraft.
Tumblr media
The cheers from their guests were loud as they exited the Talon Fighter and Yani had to pause in her steps to take in all the love. She gazed across the royal garden at the number of people calling out her new name.
"Queen Yani!"
She grinned and the children ran away from her toward Umama and Dante where all their young cousins stood gathered waiting to run around and play. Yani felt the shift in power in the royal garden. With her new isicholo firmly rooted to her scalp, she absorbed the way all the spectators watched her closely, especially the Wakandans of the noble class. No longer viewed as a separate entity from the king, she was now ogled openly as an extension of Udaku power.
Hugs and kisses were shared and the immediate royal family and the wedding party were gathered up near a view of the river and the backdrop of Mount Bashenga where a photographer snapped holopics before taking different groupings of Yani with the bridesmaids, the children, her husband, and then a lovely shot of three generations of queens. She stood in the center as Umama and Ramonda flanked her, their crowns breathtaking. Sydette and Joba were brought in for a candid, and then N'Jadaka and his groomsman and grandfather were photographed with Riki. Forty minutes later the bridal party was paraded around the guests and Yani saw the breadth of the decorations and reception set up. It took her breath away at how massive the royal garden was and how simply setting up where the sun would set behind them looked so different and unexplored.
N'Jadaka clasped her hand and led her to the head table. Guests were given a brief amount of time to personally greet the king and queen before their twelve course meal began. Love surrounded her and the enormity of her place as the queen of the nation sank down deeper.
Although it seemed like twelve courses would be a long grueling process, Yani found it to be relaxing and paced well. Everyone feasted, laughed, cried, caught up with each other, and dabbled in intrigue with so many important people in one place. By the time the royal orchestra kicked up the music for the first bridal dance, Yani was ready to move around and help her digestive system handle her stuffed belly.
N'Jadaka held her close as they shared their first dance as husband and wife. They then split apart to dance with their elders and then others were invited to join them. She took that opportunity to walk around and greet nobles with N'Jadaka once the dancing area filled up.
Heads bowed at her approach and she shared small chat with dozens of guests on the east side of the reception area. Umama and Ramonda had taught her how to move her eyes so that people around her felt appreciated even if she couldn't get to them one on one. She waved, blew kisses and kept her momentum moving through the hundreds of people yearning to see her up close with the king.
N'Jadaka held her hand like he would never let her go. His love flowed all around her and his gaze never left her unattended. They quickly moved back toward their own table and noticed Mpilo with his mother and sister speaking with Dante. N'Jadaka lowered his mouth to her ear.
"Should we make our announcement now before the party gets a little wilder with all the dancing?" he asked.
Yani squeezed his hand.
The month prior they had been meeting with Umama and the Council of Elders regarding an important decision about Mpilo and his baby sister, Nandipha who had recently turned fifteen. They took their place back at the head table and N'Jadaka gestured for Mpilo to come to him with his mother and sister. Yani sent word to the orchestra leader to finish the song they played that had the wedding crowd cutting up.
Mpilo's eyes grew wide with curiosity as to why he was being summoned by the king in front of two thousand guests. N'Jadaka was handed a mic and Yani stood next to him. The king cleared his throat and gazed upon the audience.
"This is my executive assistant, Mpilo, and he has worked for me since leaving primary school a couple of years ago. Next year he will begin his mandatory military service, and that is a very important and serious undertaking for our young people. My father proudly served and I understand the pride that comes from serving a country such as this…"
Yani watched Mpilo's face as N'Jadaka spoke. He was nervous and shy at being put on the spot, but his mother's and sister's faces beamed at being addressed directly by the king.
"As many of us have experienced in the Great Removal of the last war, Mpilo's father and brothers were taken. He has taken the great responsibility of caring for his mother and sister…however, I feel this is a great burden for such a young man starting out his life. Queen Yani and I have spoken in private about this and we've made the decision to have me step in as Mpilo's unvikeli."
Mpilo's legs almost buckled and his mother and sister kept his body steady. Whispers among the nobles could clearly be heard moving rapidly around dining tables. Yani held out her hand toward Mpilo and pulled him next to N'Jadaka. Her personal attendant Sindiswa handed her the same matching unvikeli necklaces that her own children once wore for T'Challa. Mpilo lowered his head and spoke with a soft voice.
"King N'Jadaka…Queen Yani…I am not—"
"You are not what?" Yani asked.
She touched Mpilo's chin and lifted it so their eyes could connect. The young man pressed his lips together. Yani unfastened the necklace and handed it to N'Jadaka. He turned Mpilo to face the guests while he hooked the necklace in front of everyone.
"Fatherhood is very important along with a mother's love and guidance. Queen Yani has told me time and time again that I have become a father figure to you in these hard times after the war. I humbly ask that you allow me to step in for your father to help guide you until you reach legal adulthood when you turn twenty-six. At that time you and your sister will be registered in our ancestral rolls as extended kin. When you turn thirty I will petition the Council of Elders to grant you a title with a rank that they deem appropriate. I will do the same for your sister when she also turns thirty."
Mpilo's mother and sister wept openly.
Yani touched Mpilo's hand.
"Mpilo?"
Mpilo's chest shuddered and he wiped his eyes quickly. He raised himself higher and pulled back his shoulders.
"I will accept this kumkani," Mpilo said.
The guests clapped and Yani had other wedding attendants escort Mpilo's small family to one of the royal's tables near Umama and Dante. Yani and N'Jadaka followed, giving heartfelt hugs to their new kin. Music played again and the wedding celebration continued late into the night. Once the moon had risen and the children were allowed to stay at the reception for another hour before their bedtime. Yani sensed N'Jadaka's energy depleting. He was ready for the night to end so they could be alone. Their children would stay with Umama and they would have their home to themselves for the night before they had to finish the rest of the wedding duties the next day in Necropolis City. After that, they would be whisked away to their boat where they would have two solid weeks with no one else but them.
She strode past a crowded table of elder relatives from Umama's side of the family and zigzagged to where Twyla and her husband Bibi sat talking big talk with Kendall. Twyla gently grabbed Yani's wrist and pulled her down in the seat next to her.
"Look at you," Twyla said.
"I feel wonderful," Yani purred.
Twyla stared into Yani's eyes and cradled both of her hands.
"Are you finally happy? Have everything you want?"
Yani glanced over at N'Jadaka who strode past with his male cousins from the states. Every eye was on him and his bold steps made her heart thump faster. She patted Twyla's hand.
"It's like being back home when it was us against the world. That peace that we stole together…the peace I thought I would never have again…I have it forever now. Mi can breathe and not fear anything or anyone," Yani said.
"He is so in love with you. Everyone can feel it…oh look, here he come," Tywla said, her voice bursting into loud laughs as N'Jadak reached for Yani's hand and pulled her back by his side. He bent down and kissed Twyla's cheek.
"Tryna steal her again?" N'Jadaka said,
"No king, I would never," Twyla teased. "That was a nice thing you did for Mpilo and his sister. Did Nakia take you up on your offer to be Toussaint's unvikeli?"
"She's still considering it. Her mind is still bent on going to Haiti. I don't think she wants the pressure of the throne on her son. She likes being out of the public with Toussaint," N'Jadaka said.
"Well I think she should let you take care of Toussaint the way T'Challa watched over your brood," Twyla said.
"I agree," Yani interjected, supporting Twyla's declaration.
"Maybe she'll come around. But I won't force it. Umama and Ramonda are worried about her leaving and if I push to protect Toussaint, then she might flee sooner."
Sydette rushed forward and pulled on her parent's hands.
"The magic show is about to start!" Sydette shouted.
"Did you have more cake?" Yanis asked, wiping the side of her daughter's lips that were smeared with blue and purple icing.
Sydette licked the side of her mouth and grinned.
"I only ate a tiny piece. Come on, we have to watch the show!"
They followed Sydette toward a circular stone amphitheater hidden behind the tall row of forty-foot tall ironwood trees. The wedding guests trailed in finding seats and the royal family sat in the center front row. A female magician delighted the audience with an astonishing show that lasted forty minutes. There were acrobatics, visual illusions, mystery and panthers used to entertain a mesmerized crowd. The show ended with an acrobatic troop from Ghana, a gift from First Lady Vivienne Tettah and her husband President Kojo Tettah.
Music back near the wedding gazebo started up again and the guests waited to disperse and party far into the night. N'Jadaka led Yani to the center of the open garden theater and bid their guests a fun evening. They herded their children with Umama toward the East gate of the palace, waving and accepting the cheers and final well-wishes.
Parting ways with Umama and the children inside the palace, Yani and N'Jadaka braced their backs against the private elevator glass that whisked them up to their home. There were no night attendants or servants to pamper them. They were completely alone the way they wanted to be.
N'Jadaka helped Yani out of her dress in his bedroom and then she pulled off his robes. They took a quick sonic shower and scrambled to get into bed. Exhaustion prevented any frisky behavior. Happiness and love cradled them in the quiet privacy of the large round bed. Fireworks lit up the sky from their wall window. The king pulled his queen onto his chest and held her in a tight embrace.
A restful slumber guided them the rest of the night.
Tumblr media
N'Jadaka watched Yani sleep curled into his side.
He kept his left arm around her as her soft warm breath blew across his left pec. He checked his kimoyo beads on his right wrist and whispered instructions for their breakfast to be brought to his bedroom within the hour. Snuggling against his wife he caressed her cheek and then carefully kissed her forehead. They both needed rest and quiet before leaving for the family tombs in the city of the dead ancestors. Yani's name would be added to the ancestral rolls as they paid their respect to the past queens and kings. Afterward, they were free to honeymoon.
The wedding had been a tremendous affair and the Wakandan news and the global media had a field day reporting on the splendor and the grand entrance of Queen Yani. The outside world was permitted to see them leave the temple, but only the Wakandans could relive the experience on vids at home. World leaders who were still in Wakanda gave vid chats to their own people describing the experience. Royal images of the wedding party circled the globe.
Yani murmured into his chest and he looked down. Her eyelids fluttered open and he smiled at her.
"Hey Mrs. Udaku," he said.
She grinned and stretched her neck to kiss him.
"Since we never consummated the marriage, does that mean we failed our first duty as a couple?" she asked.
He laughed.
"We were too damn tired, girl."
"You must be getting old then, I could've done a little something," Yani bragged.
"All this talkin' now when you were snoring the moment we hit these sheets last night. Stop lyin."
"Hmmm," she said stretching, "It was a long day. A glorious day, but very long."
She pushed back the covers and slid down his body, engulfing his penis, sucking on it until the hot flesh hardened like a brick.
"Aye, Ma…protocols are in order. You make me nut and we don't pay our respects to Bast, we'll curse this union."
He pushed Yani's mouth away. She rose and left their marriage bed, naked as a jay bird and picked up the ceremonial bundle.
"Should we do this now, or after breakfast?" she asked.
She stood holding the bundle looking sexy and ready for anything he had in mind. His gaze dropped to her vulva. The piercings they marked her as his precious gift sparkled in the morning light that spilled from the window.
"You make it sound so clinical saying it like that," he said.
Yani padded back to the bed and stared at him.
"If we don't do it now, we might forget and mess up later. We'll get on the boat and be so happy that we're alone that I know you'll make love to me and overlook the rules," Yani said.
"We can set an alarm on our kimoyo beads," he suggested.
"So you don't want to do it now."
"I don't want to rush getting intimate with you."
She fondled her vulva, peeling back the outer labia. The pink inside already glistened. His dick jumped at the sight.
"Let's just do the ceremonial part now, pay homage to Bast and then we can relax until we are alone again. Our first time together as husband and wife shouldn't be quick," she said.
She reached for his dick and stroked it, letting the pre-cum pearl down the taught flesh. Fully engorged, his erection looked darker than the skin surrounding it.
"Okay," he huffed, watching her soft hand go up and down the shaft. A thick tear-drop shaped bit of pre-cum slid over the crease in her hand and he groaned. He didn't have to choke back on sound. The home was theirs to be loud.
Yani unfurled the ceremonial leather bundle and they touched the inscriptions of symbols and words etched into the leather. He helped her tie it using the strings on the four corners like a corset around her midsection. She used pillows from the bed to make her head and hips comfortable as he knelt between her legs.
"Ready?" he said.
She nodded.
N'Jadaka began to kiss and lick her clit, pulling soft moans from her lips as his tongue slathered her tender parts with saliva. He stroked his dick while working his mouth magic on her. Yani's thighs parted further while she cupped her breasts.
His lips dripped with her sticky love offerings, and by the time he was flicking the tip of his tongue just under her clit, Yani was calling out his name, letting the sound fly up to the high ceiling. It echoed like angels around them and he grunted a satisfied noise that helped her release into his mouth. Her vulva throbbed against his moist lips, the strong pulses pulling him up to his feet.
"Yani!" he shouted, jerking his dick faster hunched over her.
He aimed his release all over the leather corset, soaking it with hot white semen that continued to spurt as he squeezed his balls. Yani quickly unfastened the strings keeping the offering of cum from spilling away. His sweat fell onto her breasts and he gave one final tug to his dick.
"I've got it all," Yani said.
She curled the sides of the leather back into a bundle and he walked with her out to the balcony. A brass burning ring sat near the center of the space. Yani placed the semen-soaked bundle into the ring and they both struck a long match together, setting it ablaze. They each added small tied bundles of herbs to the leather and the smoke turned from white to purple and sent a trail of thick color up into the morning sky. N'Jadaka held Yani's hand and they spoke out loud ancient words to bless their union in the sight of Bast's offering.
The leather and herbs burned down quickly, and they showered together in his bathroom, taking their time lathering each other up and allowing steamy water to cascade down their wet bodies. He kissed and fondled his wife, enjoying the taste of her in his mouth and the scent of her skin in his nose.
Breakfast was full of them laughing and recounting the events of the day before. Yani held his hand tight when they left the palace together dressed in long white robes.
The trip to Necropolis City was taken in the Royal Talon Fighter with their children.
Walking the steps holding Yani's hand, N'Jadaka stared at the building that his body once rested in. Joba paused walking up the final step and N'Jadaka took her hand. His youngest daughter's body shook and he sensed her hesitancy.
"I'm right here Sunshine," he said.
Joba squeezed his hand and they entered the building following Umama and Ramonda. They walked along a long hallway that led to a special room away from the tombs. The walls in the room were covered by a gigantic purple and silver silk tapestry that displayed all the family names since the time of King Bashenga and Queen Tiye.
The only people allowed to witness the addition of Yani's name in person were their immediate family members. A small ceremony led by a Necropolis City elder didn't take long. Next to N'Jadaka's name was a space for Yani, and she signed a slender tablet that burned her name into the silk for all of time. A small sample of her blood had been taken to make the ink that burned into the material. Sydette and Riki watched with wide eyes. Joba clung to his hand.
Ushered back outside, the rest of their wedding party and familial guests waited for them, tossing flowers at Yani and N'Jadaka. Kisses and hugs were passed around and given to their children last. The ramp to the Royal Talon Fighter awaited them. N'Jadaka and Yani both fought the urge to run away from everyone.
"Have a beautiful trip!" Umama called.
N'Jadaka glanced at his children standing with his grandmother and grandfather. He waved, took Yani's hand and guided her into the Royal Talon Fighter.
Gliding along the Ibukan River, they spotted the royal house boat in the distance. Yani hugged him tight.
"Finally…our honeymoon," she whispered.
The Talon Fighter touched down on the ground near a dock. Okoye and Ayo departed the Talon Fighter first and spoke with the Doras guarding the boat. N'Jadaka squeezed Yani's hand and they both ran toward the boat, flinging off their ceremonial robes revealing swimsuits under neath. Okoye threw back her head and laughed.
"Be safe my king. We will track your trip discreetly and bring the royal children to you in two weeks," Okoye said.
"Bye!" Yani squealed.
N'Jadaka activated the onboard system and programmed it to sail away from the dock. He poured Yani a glass of champagne and they stood on the bow to watch it sail out of the golden city.
Yani toasted his glass again and he held her waist.
"To us, my king," she said.
"To us, my queen," he said back with all the love he could muster in his voice.

wedding and marriage headcanons
Tumblr media
I just love this man so much!! Still gonna write for him
Being married to Namor would include….
He adores you! A wedding ceremony is the epitome of elegant and exquisite to your liking
Namor swears he wasn’t crying at your wedding but you could see the gleam of emotion shining through when you came to stand by his side.
Don’t even get started on how his voice and words are weighed the heaviest with emotion as he crowns you a fellow ruler of Talokan.
If you’re a fellow mutant, Namor presents a custom made wedding gift that goes with your abilities or matches your powers.
If you’re from Wakanda, or a member of the Wakandan family or leadership, it’s a huge event with all in attendance. Though it may have a political nature, he’s never been happier to be wed to you.
The portrait in his (now yours) main chambers displays him and you together
Post wedding, the honeymoon is one that is entirely blissful and intimate. There’s never a dull moment and Namor is constantly affectionate
Married life is the same way as well, but with a few more responsibilities tagged along.
Still you two are a dynamic duo. Your love for each other shines through in all that you do, that even others are inspired.
There are never fights, mostly disagreements. You both can be stubborn but you work through it.
Namor is subtly affectionate in public with brief touches and hand holding. But behind closed doors, it’s an affectionate over flowing with “I missed you”
Every so often you’ll find a gift or trinket in your study or shared chambers that makes you smile.
All in all, a 100000/10 husband 💕💞!!

Heavenly Promises
Summary: Witness the coming of a new era between Wakanda and Talokan with the matrimony between you and Namor.
Pairing: Namor/K’uk’ulkan x reader
Fandom: Marvel- Black Panther Wakanda Forever
Word Count: 1,227
Warning(s): Fluff, fluff and more fluff :D
A/N: I did a little research on what a Wakandan wedding is supposed to be like and I lifted a little inspiration from T’Challa and Ororo Munroe’s wedding in the comics. You can also see my terrible knowledge about royal stuff ;-;. Also, the language reader speaks is Xhosa. But here is the mini sequel (and final!) to Pulchritudinous Promise that everyone wanted! Enjoy and comments appreciated!   A/N 2: Should I put my header in my fics or nah? I feel it defeats the purpose of putting a pretty gif of the character tho...

--------------------------------------------
The cool breeze shook tall, green trees lightly. The sound of leaves rustling combined with waves crashing lightly against the sandy shores were music to [Name]’s ears. She slowly leaned back on the makeshift hammock, feet and back aching. She adjusted the low ends of her sun dress, heaving a tired sigh. A hammock wasn’t the best place to rest but it was the best she had for the moment. Before K’uk’ulkan would come and retrieve her. Nearby, Talokanil and Wakandan warriors stood guard, eyes sharp with weapons in hand, ready to attack any intruders that dared to get close.
Tumblr media
[Name]’s eyes glanced up to the tall palm trees shading her from the warm sun. She was thankful for it. Her dress was starting to cling to her damp skin. Her muscles eased, hands clasped together as she gave in. She allowed her mind to drift and it drifted far indeed. Her thoughts brought up past memories, specifically, her coming-together with Talokan’s King.
[Name]’s lips pursed, anxiety clouded her mind as she watched her maidens whizzing around the room, ensuring her wedding wear was ready. Shuri was finishing up on her cap, its colour a shade of black, gold and blue with a splash of emerald green, the material was soft vibranium. She could see herself in the mirror, donning her Black Panther suit. But it was different. It was decorated with emerald green, representing Talokan’s side. She had to admit, it was the perfect addition to her vibranium suit. A maiden brought over her necklace, jewels decorated each chain and a large gem in the middle that sat above her breasts.
A loud sigh left her lips and that took Shuri’s attention away from the cape and to her sister.
“Sister, what’s wrong?” The young princess smoothed out the fur on the cape before approaching the older woman. [Name] looked up at her sister, gloved hand touching the large, green Jade that sat on her chest. “Just nervous,” “Nervous? Why are you nervous, sister? This is a happy day, a day that will be remembered by our future predecessors,” Shuri pulled a chair, sitting beside [Name].
“I know, Shuri. But this wedding..I’m getting married, Shuri. There is so much I have thought about. Like, how often will I see you and Mother? Or will Wakanda be safe if I’m not around during the six months. Or..What if I can’t be the perfect wife to K’uk’ulkan?” She looked up at Shuri and the young princess had a sympathetic smile on her lips. Shuri took her sister’s hands, clutching it tightly.
“You love him, don’t you?” [Name] nodded slowly, biting her lower lip.
“And he loves you, sister. I know he does. I have seen the way he looks at you with each visit, sister and I know he loves you. You are the perfect woman for him and an amazing woman entirely. There is nothing to be nervous about and you don’t have to worry about Wakanda. I’m almost completing the Midnight Angels,” Shuri smiled brightly.
A knock came at the door and it squeaked open. “Princess [Name], Princess Shuri, the ceremony is about to begin,” A runner reminded. Shuri stood, grabbing the cape. The two maidens moved to pick up the long ends of the cape, moving with Shuri as she fastened the cape around her sister’s neck. [Name] had tears in her eyes, pulling her sister in for a hug as soon as she was done.
“Thank you…Shuri,”
Shuri let out a soft laugh, a growing lump in her throat as she felt hot tears pricked her own eyes.
“Now, let’s get this ceremony completed. I don’t know how long I must wear this dress,” She joked and [Name] laughed lightly.
[Name] could hear loud ceremonial music playing, interchanging between Wakandan and Talokanil. She could see K’uk’ulkan behind the eyes of her Black Panther helm. He was dressed gorgeously in his own ceremonial robes, which shared the colours of Wakanda. His wear was decorated with gold and jade jewels and almost instantly, her worries elevated. She could see Shuri beside Mother, who seemed to be holding back happy tears at the sight of her oldest daughter getting married. Her heart ached a little to see her mother’s tears but she knew it was for a joyful reason.
The ceremony went by like a blur, heavy drums played in the back with both Wakandan and Talokanil dancers moving to the beat. They didn’t need rings to showcase their marriage for their word and ritual was enough to bind both powerful beings together.
The helm retracted and slowly, [Name] looked up to face her new husband. She could hear faintly as the Elder Statesman announced, “Bast has blessed this couple! Pity anyone who would stand in the path of their happiness and their love. Now, let us celebrate this new merging between our two worlds!”
[Name] had both arms around K’uk’ulkan’s neck and the smile he wore on his lips was the biggest she had ever seen. She felt his strong hands snake around her waist, leaning in slowly.
“I am a very happy man, [Name]. My mother would have loved you,”
[Name] flushed darkly, lips pursed. “I know she would. I will love you to the stars beyond,” And the handsome smile that graced the King’s lips grew bigger.
“In yaakunech, in reina,” (I love you, my queen) K’uk’ulkan leaned down, slowly.
[Name] leaned up, lips barely brushing together. She could feel his warm breath fluttering her upper lip and felt her cheeks heat up.
“Ndiyakuthanda nam nkosi yam,” (I love you too, my king)
Their lips met in a deep kiss, surrounding cheers and music got louder but [Name] only focused on her husband and so did he.
K’uk’ulkan had done nothing but show her so much kindness and showered her with love and she did the same. She was welcomed with open arms into Talokan, the people took [Name] in as their new queen. When [Name] was crowned the new Queen of Wakanda, K’uk’ulkan became the royal consort, an honorary King. In her absence, her Mother would lead the kingdom, of course. The six-months agreement still stood but K’uk’ulkan had agreed to ease up that specific agreement.
Aside from that, [Name] could not ask for a better life. She had an island all for herself so she could live on land when she missed it. The island was protected by Wakandans and Talokanil warriors regularly while [Name] stayed in the little house, tending to herself while K’uk’ulkan was away for his own duties. But when he returned, they would always fill their house with love, the final touch to their marriage.
[Name] never stopped thanking Bast for this life she lived.
The sound of waves splashing hard against rocks pulled [Name] out of her trance. She turned her head, watching as K’uk’ulkan left the waters with his spear in hand. The woman smiled widely, carefully leaving her hammock to approach her husband. He leaned in, sharing a sweet kiss with his wife.
His hand moved to [Name]’s engorged belly, thumb caressing lovingly. [Name] clutched to K’uk’ulkan’s side as she leaned in to rest her forehead against his. He exhaled lightly, feeling a light kick to his palm.
“Welcome back, my king,”
“I have return, my queen, my princess,”

SHAME PT.5
Prestent Day
Shuri’s POV
I chased her. I chased Y/n, knowing I didn’t have my full heart to give. After coronation, I went to pursue her. I gave her about a month to cool off, while still maintaining my relationship with Eve. Yea, I know. What the hell were you thinking Shuri? Why Shuri? Easy answer. I was thinking about me, and it’s what I wanted.
My relationship with Eve in hindsight couldn’t really be called that. It was very obvious early on that I wasn’t interested in men. So, Eve being the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen, caught my attention easily. Obviously, there were an elite few who really got close with Wakandan royalty. Her father was leader of the Jabari tribe, and she often would end up at the palace with her father when the council would meet. Her mother had died during child birth so Mama felt a certain responsibility to Eve, since she had no mother figure. So, often the palace was where she’d spent most of her time. As we grew older Eve grew more beautiful. It was hard not to fall for her. Unfortunately, Eve was not likable to the majority. Often using her connection with the royal family to claim her superiority. But, she was good to me. We laughed, we played, we talked, and then we kissed. My 18th birthday we made it official. She went on to become a model, and we slowly fell apart. But we were comfortable with one another. She’d been through so much with me that I’d always felt that sense of loyalty to her. Until Y/n.
Y/n was, and still is very much my equal. Compatible with me in every way. I’d even go as far as saying she’s better than me, in most ways. No one would ever be able to compare. To be fair there’s not a lot of Megastar super genius singer/ scientist, that were beautiful enough to heal nations around, and could make me laugh until my belly ached, and I lost her. Let her slip right through my fucking fingers. Thinking back on those years I can’t help but feel ashamed. The way I handled everything caused so much unnecessary pain. I should’ve taken the time out to heal. Instead, I chased. I’d chased what felt good to me. I was so tender, so wounded inside; It was easier to lean into what made me comfortable. At the time my comfortability lied in numbness. The only thing I wanted to feel is what pleased me. My anger, my pleasure.
“Shuri.” I was snapped out of my thoughts by Nakia looking at me with worry settled into her eyes. “Are you ok?” I gave a soft nod not really having the energy to speak. I’d put on my proverbial mask and had a successful interview with the State Senate about the plans for the outreach, and was now seated comfortably in the back seat of the Royal Maybach. Seated, man spread, arm comfortably resting on the console, while I gazed out of the window not looking at anything in particular. Everything seemed to be a blur until…
“STOP! STOP THE CAR!” Okoye slammed on the breaks stopping abruptly in the middle of the road causing many cars to honk, as they made quick stops to avoid hitting us.
“What in the world SHURI! What is it!” Ignoring her, I quickly opened the car door, stepping out of the car stumbling toward the sidewalk. I couldn’t stop myself from walking forward. Like a moth being drawn to a flame. My heart thumped loudly in my chest, like the beat of a sad drum before the violins began to swell, the enchanting sounds swirling around my head, swallowing me into my sorrow. It felt like a dream walk, But sadly this was my reality.
In front of me was a beautiful building labeled “Glasshouse Chealsea”. There was an obvious wedding party, Bridesmaids dressed in the most beautifully simple flowing olive gowns. Grooms men dressed in simple black tuxes. Music was being played as a crowd of guest gathered around the stairs dancing, and clapping, whooping excitedly for the newly weds.
Then there she was. The most beautiful Bride I’d ever seen. Transported directly from the television, to just steps away from my touch, glowing even more beautifully in person. I was stopped in my tracks. It was really her. Standing right before me. My Y/n, my muse, my reason, the one who held my heart. There she stood, with her new husband smiling from ear to ear. She truly looked happy. Embracing him, looking into his eyes with a look so familiar it physically pained me to recognize. Love. She loved him. I could feel my heart clench in my chest as they share a loving kiss; making their way down the stairs giving hugs as they head toward a red Porche labeled just married.
Shoulders back head held high, she walked with grace. Elegant in all her simplicity. She once told me, Beauty and intelligence are one in the same, no one respects it if you’re shoving it down their throats.” Ha. She lived by that. Naturally alluring, it was in the sway of her hips, in the enunciation of her words, in her expression of her big beautiful brown eyes. The expression in those big brown eyes that were now staring deep into mine.
I could see the many emotions run through her eyes. Recognition, confusion, hurt. I hadn’t layed eyes on her in person for 2 years. But here she was. My Y/n. Except, she wasn’t mine anymore. The constant reminders of that where ripping my heart to shreds.
Her eyes lingered on mine a bit before she stepped back and quickly broke eye contact with me, allowing her husband to lead her to the car. Leaving me standing in the middle of the side walk. I stood awhile longer, a lone tear falling from my eye. She glanced over her shoulder at me before gracefully entering the car. I’d never felt defeat so great. This was the end. It was over, isiphelo, la fin. I turned and walked back to the car. As Queen and Black Panther, I never hung my head low, and I never kneeled to anyone. Emotions were for private. So held high, shoulders back, I slid back into the car.
“Let’s get back to the hotel” I say, voice slightly trembling. She’s really gone.

Flashback
 Truthfully,
 honestly
I need, I need, I need to believe
I wanna let go
but I don’t really know
I heard you got a girlfriend
Shuri smiled, sitting back inside the aircraft, closing her eyes as your sensual and melodic voice lulled her into a state of relaxation. She missed you, and had been on edge since you left her in Wakanda. Everyday she hoped you were thinking of her as much as she thought of you. It had been a little under a month, and everyday Shuri went a little more insane. So, she was on her way to you. Determined to win your heart.
I wanna go to another level with you
But before I do
I wanna know fo’ I go there with you
Apparently, you’d been busy. You had a song that was going crazy on the internet in America. Shuri had been keeping tabs on you and ran across this information scrolling on “tiktok” on her primitive American phone that she only had to keep up with what you were doing. Shuri wasn’t naive to the fact that she was the inspiration behind the song. The information makes her smile to herself. She still has a chance.
“So what’s the plan here Shuri, what will you say? Here I am again Y/n, to waste more of your time! I know you wrote a whole song about how you don’t want to be my concubine but here I am to ask again, but I’m still with Eve?” Aneka ask as Ayo raised an eyebrow while piloting the ship, also interested in what Shuri’s plan was here.
Shuri rolled her eyes. “Eve is not a factor in this”
“Ha! Oh really! Do tell me how your girlfriend of 4 years is not a factor in this new relationship you’re trying to start?” Aneka sat up in her seat across from Shuri elbows on her knees and chin resting in both palms, face full of sarcastic yet genuine interest.
“Easy really, I have Eve under control, she knows I want to be with Y/n and as long as she gets the lifestyle she’s fine with the bare minimum.” She shrugs.
“And what about Y/n”
“ I’ll tell her me and Eve aren’t together anymore. She doesn’t need to know.”
Aneka stares as she lets the conversation really register. “WOW! Shuri really, just wow. You know this must be some intricate super genius shit that a simple soldier like myself just wouldn’t get, because, to me somehow this just sounds….STUPID!”
Shuri smiles, before breaking into a laugh.
“Maybe so Aneka, Maybe so. It’s gonna work. Watch me.”
Aneka scoffed getting up from her seat choosing to go to sit with Ayo as she piloted the aircraft.
“ This is gonna be bad” Aneka says to Ayo. Ayo nods and hums in agreement.
Soon they were landing discreetly on top of the dorms at Hampton University after curfew. Perfectly timed. Shuri stepped out wearing an all black tracksuit similar to the purple one she wore when she 1st met you, her curls perfectly coiled, undercut fresh. She was now standing in front of your door with a huge bouquet of 100 roses. She takes a deep breath and knocks.
“Who is it!?” She heard from the other side of the door. She decided against answering and knocked again. She heard some shuffling and the padding of your feet headed towards the door.
“Omg! Who tf-“ You snatch the door open to see a familiar body face covered by a bouquet of roses. You look at her and walk away leaving the door open with out saying a word.
She peaks from behind the bouquet to see you strutting back to your bed, you placing your laptop back onto your lap, begining to type. She places the flowers down at her side and stares at you.
“You might want to come in before someone see’s the Queen of Wakanda in the halls of Hampton. They already have me under constant surveillance.” You say with out looking up at her,  continuing your pace with typing. Shuri steps in closing the door behind her. She walks closer to you and watches as you work and continue to ignore her. She smirks and lets out a little huff of a laugh. You shoot her an irritated look.
“You’re really going to ignore me forever?”
“Why are you here?”
“Answering a question with a question.”
“Shuri leave”
“Ok ok ok” She sighs “I got these for you” she laid the flowers down next to you. You look at her with your eyebrows furrowed upper lip arched up, waiting for her to get to the point.
“I’m sorry Y/n. I really am, I didn’t think things through, and I didn’t think about how you would feel at all. That was selfish of me to ask that of you. You’re absolutely correct. You’re way too precious to have to share. I know that I really want you and it’s been killing me thinking about loosing you completely. I can’t Y/n. I need you. I’ve grown so fond of you in such a short time. I want to be with you. Only you Y/n.”
You sat and stared into her eyes. Almost as though you were digging into her soul. It made Shuri extremely uncomfortable. You sat with your natural hair sat in a high bun, with 2 strands of hair left out in the front framing your face perfectly. Your glasses perched on your nose, a large T-shirt and biker shorts on. Shuri admired your beauty as she waited for you to jump into her arms.
“Bullshit” was your simple answer. Shuri frowned up in shock.
“You can take the apprehension out ya face Shuri. You know why you’re getting this reaction from me. I saw the moment you switched up. I stood by your side when that bitch left you to suffer after you lost your mother! And you ask me to stand with you while you remain with her! Fuck out of here! You enjoyed that shit, and you’re probably still with Eve! I’m not stupid. HELLO! Remember why are paths crossed. So if you came here believing I was just gonna fall back into your arms. You’re not only full of yourself. You’re full of THE most stinkingest shit an ass like you can muster. Please excuse yourself from my room.”
Shuri stood mouth slightly ajar. That’s Exactly what she expected, for you to run into her arms, grateful for her traveling all this way and apologizing so beautifully. To say this wasn’t apart of the plan was an understatement. You still being this upset hadn’t even crossed her mind.
“Y/n I-“
“I swear to God Shuri if you’re not on the outside of that door in 2 seconds I’m gonna spaz” You speak calmly looking her directly in her eye, standing firm on your word.
Shuri bit into her lip taking a slight step back from the bed. She’d never felt so unsure of herself, this was a quick change of events.
“Go Shuri!” Your voice picked up in volume this time as you pointed toward the door. Shuri felt her eyes water a bit. So she quickly turned and headed towards the door. “You can keep the flowers” she said sadly, as she closed the door behind her. As the door shut she heard a soft thud against it.
“FUCK YOU AND THOSE FUCKING FLOWERS SHURI!!”
Shuri huffed, biting the inside of her cheek, and used her thumb to flick her nose.
“I’m not giving up Y/n!”
“Kiss my ass!”
Shuri tapped her beads calling Aneka.
“That was quick, let me guess it went beautifully” Aneka says with humor in her voice.
“Glad you find humor in my pain Aneka”
“I told you it was stupid idea”
————————————————————————
Four months. FOUR FUCKING MONTHS!
Shuri had pulled all the stops. She’d stayed in Washington 2 more weeks. She’d bought dozens upon dozens of the most beautiful bouquets. Jewelry. Cartier, Bulgari, Van Cleef. Had money sent to your accounts. You’d gotten a full scholarship so that was taken care of, but any other expenses she took care of. You still weren’t budging.
She was now back in Wakanda rethinking her entire life. She’d let her hair grow out, her undercut long gone now, blending in with rest of her curls in an unkempt Afro. She wore sweat suits everyday. They were stylish but definitely not up to the standards of the council, but no one had the guts to say anything to her. Disagreeing with Shuri could prove to be lethal. To say her temper was short was an understatement. So everyone tried to let her be.
She now lie in her bed staring at the ceiling in her large T-shirt and baggy sweats, when her room door was snatched open and slammed shut.
“Usisi! Get. Up!”
Nakia.
Shuri groaned. Ofcourse they’d call Nakia on her.
“I don’t want to hear it! Get up. You’re wallowing in pity over a situation you caused!”
Shuri shot Nakia an agitated look.
“ Yes I heard. And I’ve never been more disappointed”
“ I really don’t want to hear this shit Nakia”
“Well you’re going to usisi omncinci” Nakia says sitting on the bed beside Shuri.
“Shuri you’re not healing or coping well. I don’t believe you should be with anyone let alone two women! Really. What were you thinking?”
“I was thinking it was my business” She sat up, staring at Nakia intimidatingly. Nakia stands and looks over Shuri looking down at her.
“Andikoyiki (I’m not scared of you), You can run around this palace waving your proverbial gauntlet, and scare the hell out of all of your subordinates if you’d like, but I am not them. I am apart of the only family you have left, and I will not allow you to push me away with your anger. It’s time to move towards healing Shuri, because the path you’re on is only going to leave a trail of broken hearts behind you, and you will regret it. T’Challa and Romonda would be extremely disappointed. I will remain in Wakanda for awhile. You know where to find me when you’re ready to talk.”
Shuri watches Nakia as she walks out of her room, irritation etched into her face.
“Dissapointed? Haha! Dissapointed! I don’t know what the fuck she’s talking about. IM RUNNING THE FUCK OUTTA THIS COUNTRY! Pshh. Disappointed. Fuck her!” She swung knocking the lamp on her bedside lamp into the wall. The door to the room opened and Eve walked in.
Shuri sighs leaning forward, her elbows to her knees, letting out a sigh. She knew Nakia was right but she felt like she needed to hold on to her anger to feel anything. Y/n had successfully gotten into Shuri’s head. Shuri craved the feeling she’d felt when she was with her. She needed to hear her voice singing to her in all it’s sultry beauty. She had to go back to the one person she knew could make her feel human again. (That ain’t what Nakia said Shuri!! Chile🙄)
“We’re done” Shuri says
Eve stops, but she doesn’t reply, she just looks down at her feet.
“Did you hear me Eve!”
“I heard you.” Eve spoke softly. Shuri had broken Eve down to fraction in the months passed. She’d treated her so poorly, having no real love to give to her, because her heart was obviously somewhere else. Eve had become a shell of herself watching the one she loved love someone else. “ I knew it was coming. You’re clearly infatuated with her….Shuri I never meant to hurt you by not showing up after your mother died. I-I just couldn’t watch you hurt anymore. You’ve been through so much and Romanda was like a mother to me. It hurt Shuri. I wasn’t strong enough to be there for you, and I’m sorry. I would’ve never thought it would’ve been so easy for you to give your heart away.”
Shuri stared at Eve emotionless “Please Eve, spare me the speech. Do you want to gather your things now? Or should I have them sent to you?”
“FUCK YOUUUUU!!” Eve screams at the top of her lungs tears streaming down her face, Body trembling causing the Dora to barge in. Shuri made no move from her spot on the bed as she watched Eve crumble.
“Please remove her from my room. I will be taking a trip. Please see to it that all of her items have been removed from my area before my return.” The two Dora look at each other and proceed to walk towards Eve.
“Don’t touch me! Don’t fucking touch me! I can let myself out!” Eve picked herself up from the floor. She looked at Shuri. “I pray you feel every bit of pain you caused me. You’re a peice of shit!” With that she barged out of the room. Shuri looked to the Dora.
“ Prepare transport, to Washington”
————————————————————————
Shuri found herself in Washington, standing in front of a club, in her sweats, hood pulled up over her head, hands fidgeting in her pockets as she paced. She had no idea what she was gonna do or say. All she knew is that she wanted you. She’d found out that you started taking up singing gigs on the side as your name started to pick up traction. She found out you were performing at The black diamond tonight and now here she was. No plan just her.
She battled with going in, finding you and pouring her heart out, but being so vulnerable in front of so many people had her anxious. So when the doors opened and the familiar sound of your laughter filled her ears, her heart lurched. Her head shot up in the direction she heard the laughter come from, to find you with two guys dragging musical equipment, and a girl with guitar slung over her shoulder. You walked front and center as they trailed behind you goofing off, excited about a good set.
Shuri admired you in all your glory. Your waist length Afro textured hair worn loose. Body glistening in your short gold cowl neck halter dress. It draped on your body perfectly, the shiny, stretchy fabric clinging to all the right parts of your body. And just when she thought the dress couldn’t get any sexier she noticed a a split at the hip. She could’ve melted into a puddle right there.
Just as she was about to punk out, you felt yourself being watched and your head turned in the direction of what looked like some random weirdo in a sweat suit staring you down. Before you could get creeped out Shuri removed her hood. You were stuck a moment, as she was now sporting a full fro, she looked tired, bags under her eyes, and skin looked a bit dull. Even with all that Shuri still managed to be beautiful. You frowned immediately turning to get to your car bidding your friends goodbye as more people began to file from the club. Shuri knew it was now or never. She took a step forward towards the direction you were walking.
“Y/n! Please!” She yelled, causing heads to turn. You stopped, but kept your back toward her. She took a few more steps toward you.
“Look at me.. please look at me.” she says and you slowly turn to look at her.
“Shuri I-“ You began but she quickly cut you off.
“Please let me speak this time…. I’m here y/n, no bells and whistles, no holds barred, just me.” She remained where she stood stretching her arms out to the side and then quickly dropping them.” I get it now. I hurt you more than I was prepared to deal with and I’m sorry. I really am baby girl. Everyday I’m paying for it. Knowing I want to be with you and being shut out is killing me. I’m a mess. I can admit that. I can’t think straight, and I don’t know what else to do. I cut ties with Eve, and I’m not asking you to hop into a relationship with me immediately, I’m asking you to give me the chance to prove that I’m worthy of it. Because I need you. I like me better when I’m with you. So please..” She walks toward you now entering your space, silent tears escaping her eyes. “Please let me fix it.” She reached out for your hands, and you looked at her hands as a stray tear fell from your eyes. “I’m begging you”
You look into her eyes seeing the sincerity. You inhale and let out a wet exhale. You slowly reach and take her hands, you pull her body into yours wrapping her arms around your waist. You take her in your arms wrapping your arms around her shoulders, and allow her to break as she buries her head into your neck, sobs racking her body.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, I promise I won’t fuck this up this time.” She whispered into your neck as applause from the crowd that had formed rang out. You pulled back grabbing her face with both hands bringing her face up to look you in the eyes.
“Let’s get there first. Hm? One step at a time.”
She nods, truly grateful for the chance just to fix things.

Present
Shuri POV
She gave me my second chance. And I did everything right. I went back to my undercut and curly top. I started therapy. And with Y/n by my side I genuinely did run the fuck out of my country. We created so many amazing Technological advancements together. Y/n doing all of this at the same time as her music career began taking off. I showed up to as many shows as possible. Became apart of her musical process. The nights in the studio with her and her crew grew to be some of my favorite memories. I’d order food, drinks, have the best weed Wakanda could grow, and it would be like a movie in there. The sex we would sneak off and have was crazy. We were the true definition of what a power couple was. The world loved us together, my country was probably more excepting of her than they were me. Our love was beautiful. So tell me. How did I fuck it all up?

The Queen's Ward - Attoye Arranged Marriage AU
Summary: Okoye is Queen Ramonda's ward. She enjoys all of the privileges that the Queen's own children enjoy. She also has to take up duties and responsibilities to Wakanda as they do. She is happy to serve the throne, but what happens when she is told she must marry Attuma of Talokan? Attuma, her childhood friend. Whom she used to play-fight in the mud with as a child. Whom she trained with and had a rivalry with. How can they go back to being friends if he is to wed and bed her? To fill her belly with his heir? Okoye is just nineteen summers old. She has never even kissed a man let alone lain with one. Especially not a man who is her friend. She fears their friendship will not survive marriage; she fears she will not survive their wedding night if Attuma is to take her to the marital bed.
A/N: This is a teaser for my story for Attoye Week 2023. Sorry it's so long @attoye-week I hope Dear Readers are keen for the whole story.
The journey to Talokan was long, and sometimes arduous. Okoye did not really recall it being this way the two times she had made it in her youth. She remembered caravans of laughter; discovering new things; the excitement of the Games; getting to see old friends and make new ones. Now, as she sat quietly atop the grey Arabian steed, she wished for it to be over. She wished to return home to Wakanda. She felt tears welling in her eyes as her arms wrapped haphazardly around the wide midsection of her soon-to-be husband: Attuma of Talokan.
Her mind was still spinning, even though she knew this day would come. The day where she would have to leave to be with her betrothed. What Okoye did not foresee was that it would be with Attuma.
She had known him when they were children. They had played together; trained together; got into mischief together. They were friends. Yes, he was the heir to the Talokanil throne; yes, he was the mightiest warrior they had. But to Okoye, he was a friend.
How could they go back to being friends now? After he would wed and bed her? How could she look at her friend the same way again after he would fill her belly with a child that would be heir to Talokan? Okoye had never even kissed a man, let alone lain with one – especially not one who was a friend. She shook the thoughts from her head as her mind drifted back to how this all came about…
…..
She had not seen him in almost five summers, but when he and his convoy arrived for the Great Games, Okoye was shocked (though she should not have been) to see that her childhood playmate was now a man. A tall, regal man. A handsome man. She could scarcely meet Attuma’s eyes when all of the Alliance Kingdom delegates met in the Wakandan Throne Room. She could feel his gaze on her. It made her discreetly fix her clothing and test the temperature of her face. Why was he looking at her with such intensity? They had not spoken in so long.
After the formalities had ended, Attuma approached. They greeted one another amicably, and Okoye felt better. His gaze was not so fiery when he was near. She felt at ease.
“Okoye,” he said firmly. “It is good to see you. You look – well.”
“Attuma,” she replied. “It’s good to see you, too. You’ve – grown.”
“So have you,” he offered, causing her to smile coyly.
A quiet settled around them and they each looked around the room until Attuma spoke again.
“Tired of the formalities yet?” he questioned, standing next to her. “We should sneak off together and wade in the Great Lake like we used to do.”
He was close. Close enough that his arm brushed against hers. Why was heat radiating from him? Why was she noticing? Okoye was feeling flustered.
“Ready for me to best you at the Games this summer?” she asked, playfully nudging his shoulder.
“It is only in your dreams that you would ever best me, Princess,” he replied, Okoye rolled her eyes.
“I’m not a Princess,” she proffered. “I’m the Queen’s ward and that is all.”
Attuma looked at Okoye and his gaze softened as he said, “You are more than both titles. You are rival to the stars in the heavens, Okoye of Wakanda.”
Okoye felt her skin flush warm, and she needed to look away. She needed to return to the playfulness of their youth. The teasing and antagonizing. The rivalry.
“And I’ll soon be the victor of the Spear Tournament,” she offered. “Get ready for defeat, Shark Prince.”
Attuma laughed. He had no choice. Okoye had reverted to the teasing of their youth.
“You are the only warrior worth my time, Princess.”
“I told you I’m not –”
Both Okoye and Attuma straightened their stance and ceased their banter when the King of Talokan approached. He nodded to Okoye but spoke to Attuma.
“Son, it is time for discussions to happen. You will sit at my right hand.”
With that, Kukulkan walked away and left the two young people standing there.
“I have to go,” said Attuma, with an apologetic smile. “I will see you this evening at the feast? Maybe at the lakeside after the feast?”
There was something akin to hope in his eyes. Okoye smiled and nodded.
“Of course,” she said. “Enjoy the discussions.”
…..
“Queen Mother, this corset is so uncomfortable,” said Okoye as servants fixed the garment to her slender frame. “How can I compete in the Spear Tournament wearing this all week?”
Queen Ramonda let out a small laugh and then walked over to her ward.
“Child, you will not be competing this summer.”
“Why not?” asked Okoye as she knit her brow. “I always compete.”
“Yes, in your youth,” said the Queen. “But you are near nineteen summers old, Okoye. It is time you stepped into your role as my ward. Time to attend more social gatherings and take on more diplomacy. And present yourself as a young lady would.”
“Why now? Because the delegates are here?”
Ramonda let out a sigh. Okoye was strong-willed, always spoke her mind, and asked questions. She would make a great leader someday.
“Yes, child. Because the delegates are here. You are old enough to take on more duties around the palace. To be more of a representative for Wakanda. It is your birthright.”
“I am not T’Challa, Mother.”
“No, but you are Okoye. You are my ward and like a daughter to me. You will have every opportunity that my own children have. I promised your parents, and I promise you, too. You will have it all.”
Okoye smiled as Ramonda placed a kiss to her head.
“Thank you,” the younger woman said. “I will make you proud.”
…..
“We heard that some of the non-Alliance Kingdoms were looking to trade Vibranium with Wakanda,” said Kukulkan.
“Where did you hear such a thing?” asked one of the Tribal Elders, Ke’n’tika.
“Our spies in faraway lands,” Kukulkan replied.
“That is false,” Ramonda offered. “We would never share our precious metal with anyone outside of the Alliance.”
“Do you not trust us, Kukulkan the Great?” asked T’Challa to his mother’s right.
“It is not about trust, Prince of Panthers,” said the Talokanil King. “It is about protecting our resources from those who would wish to harm and exploit us. About holding true to our promises. Trust is a nice notion. I like to see action.”
“What would you have us do to show that we are still upholding our promises, Great King?” asked Ramonda, wondering where the fallacy would lead both Nations.
“We need a stronger alliance.”
“Our alliance is strong.”
“But we could make it stronger,” said Kukulkan. “A royal marriage between our Nations.”
“My son is already married,” Ramonda replied. “And my daughter is far too young to even be promised.”
Silence fell over everyone in the room. Kukulkan glanced to his right where his son was seated, then back at Her Majesty.
“But you have a ward, yes?” the Great King asked.
“You know I do.”
“The girl.”
“Okoye,” said Attuma to his father; the only word he had spoken thus far.
“Okoye, she is of one of your elite families?”
“Yes.”
“And your ward.”
“Yes.”
“Is she promised to someone else?” asked Kukulkan. “To another Lord or Lady of the Alliance?”
“She is not.”
“Then, arrange for her to wed my son, Prince Attuma, and offer your ward and this alliance everlasting protection.”
Queen Ramonda’s face remained composed as she considered what the King of Talokan was asking.
“If you need more time to think my proposal over, can we agree on the end of the Games for you to give an answer?”
“Yes,” the Queen Mother replied. “You will have your answer before the Great Feast at the end of the Games.”
…..
When the drinks began to flow and dinner was being served, Okoye sat with the Queen, T’Challa, and his wife, Nakia, daughter of Yaa. While the evening was festive, there was a certain tension in the Dining Hall. Okoye assumed it was because of the discussions that the delegates had engaged in. The Great Games was a time for celebration and for the Alliance Kingdoms to come together, but it was also a time for debate and talk to occur. For treaties to be amended. For arrangements to be made. For the alliances to be solidified. Whatever had been spoken about during the discussions seemed to have had everyone on edge a little.
Okoye watched as T’Challa approached Attuma. The pair had always been friendly growing up. Okoye wondered why both were wearing such stern countenances. She could not hear their conversation, but kept her eyes on both young royals.
“Was this your idea?” asked T’Challa of Attuma as he sipped from his wine.
“What are you speaking of?” Attuma replied, finishing his own drink.
“A marriage to my sister.”
Attuma glanced over at Okoye. Her wide, bright eyes were trained on him. Attuma looked back at the prince beside him.
“My father has his own ideas, T’Challa. If he wants this marriage to happen, it will. You know as well as any that arrangements like this keep Nations strong. If my father wills it, and your mother accepts, then I will do my duty and marry Okoye.”
“Right,” T’Challa proffered. “Your duty. Tell me, Attuma, is it your duty to bed as many young women as possible with the risk of having a dozen bastard heirs roaming your great lands?”
Attuma’s jaw clenched. He did not know his reputation for seeking female companionship had reached as far as the Golden City.
“What I do in my lands and in my bed is not your concern, Panther Prince.”
“My sister’s honor and happiness is my concern, Great Shark.”
“You will not have to concern yourself with Okoye’s happiness once she belongs to me,” Attuma said, staring down at T’Challa. “When she is my wife.”
T’Challa let out a wry laugh and then said, “Okoye may still see you as the plump boy who she got into a mudslinging match with as a child, but I see how you look at her. I see how your eyes follow her. How your intentions are not as innocent or honorable as you make them out to be. Hurt my sister –”
“I would never.”
“Hurt my sister, Shark, and you will deal with me.”
…..
“I thought you wouldn’t make it,” said Okoye as she dipped her toes in the cool water.
“The discussions ran late,” said Attuma as he came to stand beside her. “So, I had more deliberations to sit through with my father after we feasted.”
“Ha! Such important dealings for you. Do not let it go to your head,” she teased before sitting down on the soft sands of the lakeside.
Attuma sat beside her and kicked off his sandals. He placed his feet in the water and looked over at Okoye. The moonlight cast a pretty sheen over her flawless skin. She was breathtaking.
“All of this responsibility is getting to my head,” Attuma admitted. “But not in the way you think. I have so many more duties than before.”
“I understand,” said Okoye. “The Queen Mother said I am to take on more as well.”
“So, you see how some things may change between us?”
“Between Talokan and Wakanda?”
“No, not specifically,” Attuma replied, glancing over at Okoye as the firelight that lit the bank reflected in her deep brown eyes. “Between you and I.”
“Oh,” she said, and dipped her head. “Is that why you brought a chaperone?”
Attuma looked back to the Talokanil guard who was standing out of earshot but watching the pair.
“Yes.”
A beat of silence passed between them and Attuma felt like he needed to elaborate.
“You are of age, Okoye. A young woman. It’s not proper for us to be alone together anymore. We are no longer children. The time for childish games between us has passed.”
“But you are still my friend,” she said, lifting her gaze. “No impropriety would ever occur between us. I know you would protect me from such things.”
“I will always protect you,” he said and the earnestness in his voice made her breath hitch. “But, things have changed. And they will continue to change. I hope that – I pray to the gods that when they do, you will not view me any differently.”
Okoye smiled at her friend and reached for his hand. He took her small one in his large palm.
“Nothing will ever change how I view you, Silly Shark,” she teased, resting her head on her friend’s shoulder. “Not a thing.”

Tumblr media
you woke up early, the wakandan light shining against yours eyes before you even got a chance to rub the sleep out of your eyes.
you sit up, rubbing your forehead and you get out of bed, being greeted by okoye and aneka.
“happy wedding day, ms. (y/n).” okoye says, bowing.
“oh okoye, don’t start that, i’m not royalty yet.” you joke, bumping okoye a bit. “my apologies, (y/n).”
you look around, and aneka automatically assumes who you’re looking for. “she wants to surprise you, so you won’t see her for a bit.” she winks at you, which should excite you but knowing shuri, you were concerned.
you step into the bathroom getting prepared for the ceremony, when the queen steps in, smiling at you. “you look astonishing, (y/n).” she says with a genuine smile on.
shuris mother has always been supportive of her sexuality, and told her nothing could change the motherly love she had for her daughter.
before you and shuri even really got serious, ramonda referred to you as her in-law, already loving you when she first met you.
“thank you my queen.” you smile, bowing playfully as she scoffs at you. “my my, you’re about to become royalty, my family, and you still think you need to bow?” she chuckles, shaking her head as she looks at you again.
”shuri might actually burst into tears seeing how beautiful you look.” the queen utters, making you chuckle at the thought. “i can’t wait to see her.” you smile, turning back to the mirror.
the queen comes up behind the you and places her hand on your shoulders. “you know, i have something i want to give you.” she smiles, reaching into her pocket and pulling out a beautiful necklace.
you gasp and cup your hands around your face, looking at the piece of jewelry before looking back at her, before you can deny it she speaks.
“(y/n) i want you to have this. my mother gave it to me on my wedding day, and now im giving it to you.” she exhales, pulling your hair out the way to put the necklace on you.
when she puts it on you, you look at yourself in the mirror and think back to when you were a small girl, how your wedding day meant so much to you. you wanted to look like a beautiful princess, and your wish came true.
Tumblr media
you were walking down the isle with m’baku hand and hand with you. “you look beautiful, ms (y/n).” he says sincerely with a light grin. you hold his hand tighter.
m’baku has always been like a brother to you, he always fussed about you when you were careless but he knew it was because he cared for you, and would hate for something to happen to you.
“thank you m’baku, but you really don’t have to put ‘ms’ in front of my name you know?” you chuckle a little.
before you knew it, there she was.
your beautiful bride. she looked gorgeous in her black fitted suit, you told her countless times she didn’t need to wear one if she didn’t want to, but she really wanted to, and you’re glad because she looked divine.
m’baku let go of you and you kissed him on the cheek before walking up to shuri, standing in front of her.
“hi.” you whisper-yell to her.
“hello.” she whisper-yells back, with a playful smile on her face.
as the priest spoke all you could think about was how your life would change, you never really thought about it until now, all you truly care about is spending the rest of forever with the love of your life.
“(y/n) (y/l/n), do you take shuri udaku to be your lawfully wedded wife?” the priest asks, as you obviously respond with yes.
“and shuri udaku, do you take (y/n) (y/l/n) to be your lawfully wedded wife?” the priests asks shuri, and she clearly says yes.
“well, bride, you may kiss the bri-” and before he can finish, shuri grabs you and kisses you, making everyone cheer happily.
Tumblr media
a few hours pass and you and shuri are just slow dancing along together, you look at her for a little, just smiling. “what’re you all cheeky about, hm?” she asks.
“it’s my wedding day, am i not allowed to be ‘cheeky’?” you ask.
“oh no of course you are, i’m glad you are. i’m glad about a lot of things, one thing specifically, you being here.” she presses her forehead against yours and sighs.
“i’m not going anywhere my love, i don’t know what id do without you.” you confess, holding onto her forearms tight, as if she was about to leave you.
“hey, hey.” she says tapping your chin to have you look up at her, she sees the teary glint in your eyes and frowns a little.
“it’s your wedding day, you shouldn’t be crying.” she sighs.
you chuckle a bit before shaking your head, “no no, they’re happy tears my sweet. i’m.. i’m happy, thankful even. that i met you, that i know you. thank you.” you mumble, hugging her tightly.
“don’t thank me for loving you.” she caresses your cheek.

“It Could Have Been Different - Part 3″
(a.k.a - “Two young people fell in love and we all showed up”) ;-)
It’s the post-wedding “Buckingham Palace balcony” wave - Wakandan style!  As you (and the thousands of assembled adoring subjects) can plainly see, the new royal bride and groom are very, very happy!
Despite the fact that camera crews were not allowed to film the actual wedding ceremony itself, I hear that there was fierce competition amongst CNN’s foreign correspondents when it came time to decide who would be allowed to go to Wakanda for this momentous event (just kidding - it was always going to be Christiane Amanpour).

Ample Time (Okoye x Attuma One-Shot)
Words: 1001 Rating: Explict - NSFW Summary: The day's the day: Okoye's getting married. Before she can tie the knot, Attuma has one more treat for the bride-to-be. Notes: Okoye's Wedding Dress is inspired by @xblackreader's beautiful design here!
They could hear muffled voices on the other side of the wall. Okoye found herself pinned between the locked closet door and the Talokani giant draped in his ceremonial grab. His hands on her wrists - the very same hands that dragged her from an unsuspecting Nakia - rubbed against her serpentine and pearl jeweled bracelets. Even his amused smile couldn’t hide his hardening middle that he proudly pressed into the cut-out of her white dress that exposed her stomach and specially crafted waist beads.
“Glad to know that it’s always a pleasure to see me, Attuma,” she huffed as she adjusted her red head jewelry, hoping they didn’t get tangled in the midst of his tugging her into a closet.
“Pleasure, indeed,” he smiled. “You look divine, Okoye. I’m sure your future husband will agree.”
The bride-to-be couldn’t help, but roll her eyes. Ever since the news of her upcoming nuptials spread across the lands of Wakanda, Attuma made it his mission to let the entirety of Talokan know. The fiercest surface warrior was tying the knot again. If it was up to him, there would be several festivals dedicated to his sparring partner and her new beau.
She blew a mock sigh of relief, “Thank Bast! I’m sure he would be relieved to hear that. Maybe you should go tell him.”
“And miss my last opportunity to taste the unmarried Okoye of the Midnight Angels?” He lifted her exposed leg to wrap his waist. She obliged. As she always does.
He motioned towards her lips. His own now free from covering as Shuri and the American scientist created a new contraption that allowed the breathers on his gills to provide adequate air. She covered his mouth with her hands. He scowled in response, and she snared.
“You’re going to mess up my makeup. And then Aneka will have your head.”
“She can gladly take it. I will die a happy man so long as you are on my lips.”
“Have your funeral overshadow your wedding?” she laughed. “I don’t think so.”
He brushed his fingers up her thigh, searching for her sweet spot. Once he found it, gapping open and dripping wet, he laughed right into her ear as she rolled her eyes.
“Were you expecting something?” he whispered into her neck. “Or is this another Wakandan tradition that I have yet to understand?” He pecks a trail down her neck, relishing in the groan emerging from the base of her throat. His kisses led him to a beaded chain of jade, and he glowed at its beauty. “And who made you this, warrior?”
“My future husband,” she breathed. “Attuma, stop teasing. Fuck me already.”
Attuma thought of Okoye in many ways. In the heat of battle, in his arms, on his lips, but never in his wildest dream could he imagine her swimming in Talokani and Wakandan jewels and makeup as she swayed in her wedding dress, begging for him. Thinking only of him.
“Oh, I would love to, Okoye,” he breathed over her lips. He slipped his fingers from her, earning a whine and a curse. Popping them in his mouth, he swirled the taste of her over his tongue. “But I cannot be the cause of you leaving your husband at the altar. That would break his heart.”
“I have plenty of time,” she yanked his dick in her hand, pulling him closer to her. “You don’t even have to cum.”
He indulged her too much, but when she looked at him like she was just as hungry for him as he was for her, how could he not? He aligned himself with her opening, being sure to hold up the front of her dress.
“Cruel woman, does your husband know that you could deny his release like this?” he laughed before pushing himself all the way into her warm wetness.
“Yes,” she moaned. “And he loves me in spite of it.” She rubbed her hands down his neck as he hoisted one of her legs to dive deeper
“Mmh,” he hummed. He stuffed his face into her shoulder to muffle his own sounds of passion. She hugged around his dick as if she was made for him. Her pretty lips murmured his name. A shiver slid down his spine.
She was ruining him. The Okoye he met on the battlefield was the same everywhere else: thoughtful, unyielding, passionate. When she was with him, she made sure that he knew she was giving as much as she received.
She gritted her teeth to contain her moans. He lifted his head as he sped up his thrusts. He stared into her eyes, and his intensity made her stomach jump. She slammed her head softly on the door, sighing a song of relief.
“Okoye, kiss me,” he grunted. “Makeup be damned.”
She grabbed a handful of his ass, pushing him right where she needed him. “I don’t,” she huffed, “want to get married,” her pussy squeezed. “with smeared makeup.”
“So stubborn, even when you’re this filled?” he whined. He snapped his hips, and she tightened her hold against him. “I feel you, K’iin. Let them know who has you screaming like this! Let them know whose fucking you like this.”
Her toes curled as her hips buckled underneath her. He was reluctant when she came undone underneath him. She tried her best to hold it back, but she couldn’t. She was only human.
“Okoye!” they heard Nakia whisper against the door. “You have better come out here with your waist beads intact and your makeup flawless. I gave you both ample time.”
His laugh vibrated through her chest as he slipped outside of her. Pressing his forehead to hers, they breathed into each other as if the ceremony on the other side of the door disappeared, and it was just them. Together. Two forces of war fighting for each others’ happiness.
“Your groom-to-be is a lucky man, Okoye of the Midnight Angels,” he smiled.
“Yes, you are,” she smiled back.

"King Killmonger: The Golden Jaguar" Preview!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary:
N'Jadaka prepares to wed Yani, his influential Caribbean fiance, in the most anticipated social event across the land. The new King of Wakanda continues to make global changes on a level that T'Challa refused to do. The C.I.A.'s discovery of vibranium in the ocean brings on the re-emergence of Namor during a Mama Wati celebration. Wakanda's new battle with the Talokanil tests the Golden Jaguar’s resolve to transform his nation into the preeminent superpower on earth. He leans on Yani and Ramonda to reign in the serious infighting among the noble class while presenting Shuri with a life-altering choice: Take over the mantle of Black Panther in her brother's absence.
youtube
“I will be one of the greatest That is a vow, yeah, that is a promise Always wanted to be famous Just being real, yeah, just being honest
My haters gon' always be nameless Give them no cloud, I give them no power
Creators built different, they ancient Sooner than later, all will be ours…”
Iniko—“The King’s Affirmation”
King N’Jadaka Udaku of the Panther Tribe from the kingdom of Wakanda sat at the head table for the Congressional Black Caucus’s newly minted Pan-African symposium/dinner inside of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The event brought together Black leaders from all over the world that wanted to take part in shaping their future with the influence of Black American politicians after the great disaster of the Infinity War.
The king sipped from a glass of lemon water with his young Executive Assistant Mpilo by his side, very much aware of the eyes dragging across his intimidating figure in the midst of seventy-five world politicians of African descent with their various entourages. Hundreds of women and men allowed to participate in the momentous gathering chanced looking his way to assess what kind of man he was on this rare occasion that N’Jadaka came to Washington, D.C.
He grew accustomed to being the rare Black man of real power surrounded by other Black leaders that tried to balance governing in the face of American neo-imperialism. The people in that room would’ve given up their firstborn child just to be in his presence, especially the representatives from Sudan and Ethiopia. Thanos’s ridiculous plan to snap problems away only created more dire ones on earth and Africa suffered as a result. The rise of new warloads and the loss of faith in democracy sprouted far and wide. Slavery, coups, and genocide had ramped up. Troubled nations in the motherland looked to Wakanda and not the U.S. for leadership, and that made N’Jadaka’s stay in his former homeland dangerous. The C.I.A. had a bench warrant of death on his head. Western powers wanted the king of Wakanda eliminated.
The Golden Jaguar sighed and pressed his hands on his thighs and flexed his fingers to offset the ribbons of tension coursing through him. Despite it being an all Black affair, there were enemy ops in the conference hall among them. The Dora Milaje and his Onyx Squad remained visible and dispersed throughout the perimeter, their smart-looking uniforms marking them as superior protection among the American security hired to keep unwelcome outsiders from trying to sneak an audience with the Wakandan king.
This attempt at a heavily-publicized gathering of Black international elites became a way for powerless Black politicians in the U.S. to rival and possibly supplant N’Jadaka’s influential UDC creation that made waves in under a year. No matter what power-to-the-people slogans were used to get them in office, Black American politicians were still…politicians. No different than their white counterparts that only worried about getting re-elected and stuffing their pockets with money, connections, and a fat board member assignment or consultation position on some corporations dime after retirement. No matter the pithy declarations about supporting the Black community he heard all evening, there were wolves in the room seeking access to more power. The white American power structure lit a fire under the CBC’s ass to put together something that would convince diaspora Africans to join with them instead of the Wakandans. N’Jadaka knew what it was and decided to participate anyway. Just to let the CBC know he was watching them closely and feigning diplomacy. America was a weak and decaying order. The bored king found solace in knowing he would be its demise.
N’Jadaka tapped his hand on the fancy table cloth. Mpilo took note of his mood and quickly checked his comm tab for the expected time of arrival for Yani and the children. The trip abroad had lasted two weeks, most of it spent at the United Nations in Geneva, and meetings in New York, London, and South Africa. N’Jadaka cancelled a trip to Saudi Arabia when one of the crown princes of an oil billionaire insulted him on a viral vid. He made an example of them by snubbing a much-anticipated visit there. Any form of anti-Blackness anywhere was swiftly aired out. Mexico, Argentina, Spain, France, Italy, and the Dominican Republic were already smarting from his public call-out of their treatment of Black people due to an increase of racialized violence targeting poor Black citizens in their nations. With Yani’s urging and Ramonda’s powerful voice as an ambassador, there was a rallying call against global femcide in the wake of the disappearance of so many people.
The U.S. didn’t let the great loss of citizens stop their continuing encroachment of resources and they took advantage of pumping predatory capitalism along. What could’ve been a moment of self-reflection, a shift in priorities, and a new way of being for the country as a whole was simply an opportunity to prey on weaker nations even harder. Their only hindrance in achieving more power was the rise of Wakanda under N’Jadaka’s leadership. He instilled fear in every nation that wanted life to go on the same way, and he also gave hope to those parts that saw a chance at progressive changes aligning with Wakanda. The western powers still gasped at his U.N. speech criticizing colonial apartheid in Palestine and Gaza. The gasp turned into full-fledged choking when he charged genocide co-signed and funded by the Americans. Once he pontificated on the historical similarities between Gaza, South Africa, and the Black American segregation of his own people, his War Dogs got wind of Mossad operations trying to penetrate Wakandan intelligence through the C.I.A.
Back home, the continent was split.
African nations that had long been ignored and left to suffer on their own benefitted from supporting Wakanda. N’Jadaka flooded their lands with tech support, agricultural advances, doctors, and a quick rebuilding of infrastructures with his Wakandan Humanitarian Corps that embarrassed the U.S.. At N’Jadaka’s urging, Azania and Caanan had stopped selling uranium, colbalt, and platinum to anyone outside of Africa in exchange for advanced agricultural expansion. Mining had ruined and polluted their lands with run-off depleting usable soil and water. Rapid climate change didn’t help them either and the neighboring nations were on the verge of famine. Wakanda helped clean their water, soil, and air for free, allowing farmers to produce a bumper crop that saved millions from starvation. Those who had been malnourished received the best medical treatment, and once snatched from the brink of disaster, Azania and Caanan were staunch allies for good.
Niganda and Mohannda were a different story, currying favor from the CBC leaders and complaining to the U.S. president that Wakanda was a global threat to sovereignty. The other African nations galvanized by the freely given help, threw all of their allegiance to the Wakandans, thus leading other unaligned African nations to fear him creating a United States of Wakanda to rule them all.
It wasn’t a bad idea.
He never acknowledged those types of concerns and just let the rumors grow to keep his enemies on their toes. His own father N’Jobu had flirted with visions of a united continent under Wakandan rule in his journals. Currently, N’Jadaka scrambled to replace War Dogs lost to the blip in order to keep his finger on the pulse of other nations.
“Princess Yani will arrive within the next two hours. They have crossed onto the Atlantic,” Mpilo said.
N’Jadaka nodded. He gave Mpilo a full-time job as his personal assistant since the loss of his father in the snap. The king had no idea the young man suffered that loss until months after the memorial honoring the lost ones. Mpilo did his work professionally until Yani brought the news to his attention. She recognized Mpilo’s family name from one of the palace attendants sending personal condolences to their staff on her behalf. When N’Jadaka questioned him, Mpilo broke down in tears in the king’s office. His father and two oldest brothers had vanished leaving behind his mother and baby sister. Barely an adult, Mpilo now had the responsibility of looking out for his immediate family. N’Jadaka terminated his fellowship and gave him a permanent job title as his executive assistant.
The king let out a sigh of relief. He needed to be with his family again. Normally Yani would be with him, but she was on her own global tour promoting her book, “The Wakandan Way of Birth”. Their children traveled with her and he caught interview segments of her in three countries. The world was enamored with the exotic princess. It was her first appearance outside of Wakanda representing the nation. N’Jadaka grinned thinking about the reaction of the Caribbean. The entire region went nuts finding out officially that an island girl had snagged the most powerful man in the world.
She promoted the book in St. Thomas first, and he hated not being there with her. She traveled to Jamaica next to visit the land of her father and paid her respects to their relatives there. In the midst of the new global normal, Yani’s book became a smashing success. All proceeds went to funding her midwifery scholarships to further the number of Black and Native midwives and doulas learning at the Wakandan birthing centers. The money allowed women to focus fulltime on their craft without monetary restraints. She planned to give more once she became queen because the palace allotted a salary for Queen Consorts that she planned to use for more income-based scholarships. Wherever there were Black and Indigenous women in need, Yani made sure they took priority over anyone else.
Everyone wanted their hands on the book. A Wakandan publishing company mass marketed the coffee-table sized manauscript, and they looked exquisite. The cover was created by a Birnin S’Yan artisan who made a vibranium-tinged dye that was threaded into a gorgeous royal purple and silver cloth overlay. The book had fifty full-page color photos that Yani spent months agonizing over from a total of 200. The cover photo itself deserved to hang in a museum. It showed a young woman holding her newborn daughter and they were both dressed in the vibrant colors of the River Tribe.
When the pre-release online sales skyrocketed, Yani made the decision to only provide non-online sales out of Wakanada through global Black bookstores. The international brick and mortar stores made bank with the flood of non-Black customers wanting their hands on something from Wakanda. Even people who weren’t even interested in childbirth or culture clamored to snatch up a copy just to get a glimpse of what Wakanda looked like from the inside. The first print sold out in one week.
The talks finally ended and the affair moved into a spacious outdoor dining area where a small jazz trio played music in a corner. The balmy weather made it comfortable to be outside and he took in a deep inhale of D.C. air.
Okoye and Ayo kept the pre-dinner rush to talk to the king at a distance, giving N’Jadaka time to snag a moment of peace. After ten minutes he shook hands and greeted caucus leaders, trying not to look annoyed at their requests for selfies with him. He obliged to be polite and to give an air of camaraderie.  Everyone wanted everyone else to think they had connections to him by how loud they talked or laughed with him. He knew the drill.
The hosts ushered his entourage to their dining seats near the front of another podium. No one pretended to be sly about sneaking candids of him with their smartphones.
“King N’Jadaka, your son is here to see you right away,” Ayo whispered in his ear.
N’Jadaka looked around and spotted Riki walking out from the museum with his personal Dora, Quamba. All the diners stopped to watch the prince of Wakanda walk through with his hands behind his back and his eyes searching for his Baba. Some people tried to snap photos of Riki, but all of N’Jadaka’s children wore necklaces that thwarted any cameras from getting clear pictures of them by jamming up electronics and flash photography cameras.
Riki looked too clean.
Yani braided his hair in the spiral style of his Wakandan ancestors, threaded with shells and beads that bounced around his shoulders. This week, Riki wore jade and black fingernail polish decorated with mini panther claws in bright gold which was the rage of young children in Birnin Zana who loved their local team that played a popular sport called ukudlala ngomlenze…leg play. It was a game that required balance, and intense leg flexibility as two teams battled each other on a low swinging wooden bridge that moved across a deep body of water. One member of each team took turns standing in the center of the swinging bridge as the other team members of the challenging team split up on either side to rock the opponent off their feet, without any of their own teammates falling over too. The narrow bridge swung higher and higher, pushing athletes to go against gravity, their exhausted limbs put to the test for long durations. N’Jadaka had promised Riki a trip to the national competition in the River Tribe territory once they returned home.
Riki’s black royal sash rested snug across his chest with the family crest blazoned on it. The boy was seven-years old and sprouting a bit of height. He was almost as tall as Sydette and would probably surpass her by the time he was eight. Riki’s eyes lit up when he spotted N’Jadaka.
“Baba!”
The boy ran past chuckling adults who admired the tailored royal suit and polished shoes. N’Jadaka held his arms out and his son jumped onto his lap and kissed his cheek. The happy king wrapped his child up in love.
“I’ve missed your busy behind,” N’Jadaka said. “Where’s your Mama and the girls?”
“Changing clothes. I couldn’t wait to see you,” Riki said, squeezing his arms around N’Jadaka’s neck.
“Good trip, Dumplin?”
“Yes. People went crazy for Mama and her book. I’m ready to go home though. I don’t like this country…the people here are so fake. They only like you if you’re rich or famous.”
“Hungry?”
Riki nodded and scanned the tables for the evening’s selection. He scrunched up his nose at the servers placing rolls and butter on the tables.
“Can we eat this food, Baba?” Riki asked.
“We have people watching the chef in the kitchen.”
The Udaku children had been taught to reject outside food unless their parents permitted them to partake. N’Jadaka had become cautious with poisoning and normally had his own personal chef make all of their food, but he opted to watch the American cooks this time around instead of turning down a plate. The head chef for the evening was a famous Black American from New Orleans who read that N’Jadaka liked food from that region and wanted to create a menu to impress the powerful king.
“Sit next to me,” N’Jadaka said, pulling out a chair for Riki.
Mpilo took a seat across from them at the circular table that seated twelve. Members of the CBC organizing committee greeted him then took their seats at other tables. The jazz music grew softer as guests took their seats all throughout the guarded space. A congresswoman from Philly took to the podium near N’Jadaka’s area and announced the arrival of Yani and Ramonda. Eager applause broke out and N’Jadaka stood up from his seat. He helped Riki stand in his chair so he could see his mother and aunt enter.
N’Jadaka’s Uncle Bakari escorted Yani and Ramonda together as Sydette and Joba walked in front of them wearing matching purple dresses with their hair twisted and pulled back with amethyst panther-shaped hair clips. Yani mesmerized the crowd in a shimmery emerald green dress that revealed all her curves. She styled her hair with extensions in an upswept fancy roll that denoted her status as queen-to-be. Ramonda had the crowd transfixed with her tall purple isicholo and deep purple gown. Uncle Bakari was dapper in his black tux. N’Jadaka’s grandfather Dante escorted Bakari’s wife Shavonne and they all made their way toward the front where their Dora Milaje escorts brought them to the king’s table.
Sydette and Joba dashed to him first and he picked up both girls and smothered their faces with kisses amidst their squeals of delight for being with him again. He put them down the moment Yani reached him and he couldn’t hide from the world his love for her.
His arms wrapped around her tight and he pressed his forehead against hers. The tense energy in his body drained down into the floor and he exhaled a long breath. Yani rested her arms around his massive shoulders, her perfume drowning him in memories of their shared bed and the last time they had been alone without the world watching their every move.
“Baby, I missed you so much.”
“I know. I couldn’t wait to get here and hold you.”
“You know these niggas is starin’ so we better play it cool for Ramonda’s sake.”
Yani giggled and pulled away from him. He kissed her hand and turned to Ramonda, giving his auntie double kisses on both cheeks. He hugged his grandpop next and finally showed love to his American aunt and uncle who raised him after his parents died. They all took their seats at the dining table. Yani sat at his right, and Riki, Joba, and Sydette took over his left side.
As the first courses of salads, soups, and finger foods were brought out, announcements were made. The head chef was brought out and recognized. N’Jadaka allowed the nervous man to take a picture with him holding up a plate of sausage gumbo with rice. There was special recognition given to Yani, along with a surprise plaque presented to Ramonda for her role as an ambassador fostering goodwill between America and Wakanda.
N’Jadaka caught up with his aunt and uncle and the family chatter reminded him of being home except they were being watched like fish in a fishbowl. When dessert and coffee were brought out at the end of the meal, Ramonda switched seats with Riki and leaned in toward the king.
“President Mubiri would like to have a nightcap with you during the mixer inside the museum,” Ramonda said.
“Why?”
Ramonda’s sharp eyes observed the guests.
“He believes D.C. is neutral ground and he would like to discuss rumors of you inciting a coup in his nation.”
“Sounds like C.I.A. bullshit.”
“Even so, it wouldn’t hurt to appear cordial. Get some photos taken that shows two rival nations talking together. Yani is your icebreaker. Madame Mubiri is here, too. A nice photo-op of beautiful African women mingling will make the CBC very happy.”
N’Jadaka glanced at Yani’s fingers. She had on her deadly finger armor. Hopefully she wouldn’t threaten the man again.
He signaled for Quamba and several Onyx Squad security to take his children and grandfather back to their penthouse suite at the hotel they were lodged in for the weekend. He hugged and kissed the children promising to read a bedtime story to them later. People moved out of the way and stared at his heirs. All three children walked like royalty, heads held high, backs kept straight.
The after dinner mixer started inside the lobby of the museum where a giant abstract art installation above their heads looked like the unfurling of giant bronze ribbons. N’Jadka read the description of the sculpture that was supposed to represent the swinging motions like a band of angels coming down to carry Black Americans back home like the old spiritual “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”. The artist, Richard Hunt, used suspended cables to anchor the work, and the swooping arcs of the bronze bands reminded N’Jadaka of his mother’s arms around his body when he was small.
Several servers traipsed the lobby carrying drinks and savory finger foods. A D.J. played contemporary R&B and the guests relaxed into full-blown partying mode. Bakari and Shavonne headed toward a display of Harriet Tubman’s shawl further inside the museum and Mpilo escorted Ramonda to meet some caucus members who were dying to be seen with her.
N’Jadaka held out his arm and Yani rested her hand on it. She walked with a majestic stride that matched his and they mingled for a bit. Yani’s charm was her greatest weapon and they spent a considerable amount of time discussing her book and tour. Her radiance overwhelmed a few people who couldn’t stop admiring her even as they moved on to other guests. The allure of power was a true aphrodisiac, and Yani wielded it well. All of her Wakandan training and years of experience dealing with all sorts of people paid off in spades as she delighted American dignitaries. He couldn’t stop staring at her himself. Her voice lit up his face and he smiled at everything she said. Yani’s youth also surprised people. She would be entering her late twenties soon enough, but carried a greater maturity and self-awareness in the last year representing Wakanda internationally.
They worked the first three corners of the lobby before the mixer branched out to the rest of the museum, and they headed toward President Mubiri and Madame Mubiri who lingered near a replica of a slave quarter. The Mohanndan president stood with a glass of liquor in his hand entertaining cronies as his wife watched her husband’s dour animated face with his uppercase gums spilling over his lowercase teeth. Her eyes sparked up when Yani approached holding out her hands toward the woman.
“Madame Habiba Mubiri, I finally get to see you again in a less formal setting,” Yani enthused.
Yani ignored Mubiri and immediately pulled Habiba away from her husband, touching her hand in informal friendship.
“Mubiri,” N’Jadaka said, offering his hand. Mubiri shook it.
“King N’Jadaka.”
Yani reached for a glass of wine from a server that had been freshly poured from the bar. She presented it to N’Jadaka using the ancient submissive stance of queens in Wakanda, holding the glass up to him with her right hand, while her other hand cradled the elbow of the serving arm. N’Jadaka caught the lust in Mubiri’s eyes again for his fiancé. He took the glass from Yani and kissed her cheek.
“Thank you, baby,” he said.
“May I please borrow Madame Mubiri? I would love to introduce her to the head organizer,” Yani asked Mubiri.
It was clear that Mubiri didn’t want his wife to do anything, but Yani’s seductive voice couldn’t be denied. She played on the man’s need to control women by asking his permission. Her earlier exaggerated submissive act toward N’Jadaka fed into the man’s cultural ego. Yani upped the ante by touching his arm and squeezing it. Her touch ignited something in the president and he lifted his wife’s arm and practically threw her at Yani.
“I’m sure you two have some important things to discuss without us present,” she added.
“Enjoy yourselves,” Mubiri said, his gaze plastered all over Yani’s figure as the two women strolled further into the heart of the museum.
N’Jadka pretended to drink his wine while being focused on something else until Yani was gone.
“I thank you for the personal invitation to your wedding King N’Jadaka. I didn’t think you would extend us any welcome to your country again.”
“It’s a time of celebration, not political intrigue. Yani wanted your wife there. They have been corresponding for a time getting to know each other. You don’t have to come if you don’t want to.”
“And miss the nuptials of that delightful woman you parade around like a trophy? Never. We will attend and enjoy the splendor.”
They both drank in silence.
“Did you like the tour of the museum earlier?” N’Jadaka asked.
“An intriguing history lesson. You must be proud of your heritage here.”
“I am.”
“Rebels at heart. I see why the Americans want to control you.”
“I know you don’t want to stand here and shoot the shit about my lineage. You want to know if I’m plotting to throw you out of office.”
Mubiri choked on his drink as N’Jadaka stared at his face. The Mohanndan’s cronies flicked their eyes away in embarrassment, not expecting the king to be that blunt.
“What would I gain from having you taken out, Mubiri? There would only be another leader who thinks the same as you, so nothing would change. Pinning your hopes on the Americans holding me in check has not paid off in a year. I offer nothing but hope and a chance at directing Africa’s vast internal wealth and ancient wisdom back to where it belongs…on all of our people.”
“Our people? You Wakandans are stand-offish and think only of yourselves. These little excursions into other African nations giving them little trinkets of your resources reeks of a ploy to rule over us all. At least your uncle acted like a benevolent father-figure in the west.”
“My uncle was not the man you all think he was. I am telling you now, to your face Barasa Mubiri…I have no plans for a coup, an assassination, nor war with your country. Did you not read my fiancé’s book? Wakandans value peaceful living, enhancements to prolong life, and self-actualization that benefits the whole and not just the individual. We kept to ourselves for centuries even when we had the means to colonize the world and bend it to our will. But we didn’t.”
“I still think that is an option in your arsenal, King N’Jadaka.”
“I am from the school of ‘don’t start none, won’t be none’. My goal is transformative liberation for whomever wants it.”
“So-called liberators often transform into something sinister, if given the chance.”
The king moved closer to the east African president, closing the small gap between them.
“I only plan to bring hell to those who mean us harm. Do you plan to cause problems for us with this U.S. administration?” N’Jadaka asked.
Mubiri shook his head and smiled.
“I want peace and prosperity for our people too.”
“Good. You have heard directly from my mouth what I want. Let’s spend the rest of the evening showing the world that Africans can co-exist on the continent without people confirming their biases about us being warlords and despots. We can be civil with our disagreements. Everything doesn’t have to be bloodshed, or rumors of hostile take-overs.”
N’Jadaka excused himself with Okoye by his side.

Do you have any headcanons and thoughts for Attoye babies (either bio and/or adopted)?
Hmmmm.
I always thought they adopt one Wakandan kid and one Talokanil kid to make it fair, a boy and a girl. But as they're going through the process of adoption, they find out Okoye is pregnant. Attuma LOSES HIS MIND in the best of ways and is super protective of Okoye. She's pretty much like "I'm pregnant, not dead, CHILL," lol. They have a girl and Attuma is totally a girl dad. Okoye is a little overprotective because she's been out and about in the world. The adopted kids fall in love with their baby sister of course and they are all equal siblings. Their daughter can live on both land and sea. But she does have to stay more hydrated on land and can't go super deep all the way down to Talokan on her own because she can't hold her breath indefinitely and take the full water pressure. However, Shuri develops a suit for their daughter and their fully Wakandan child so that the whole family can visit Talokan together (it's based on the same design Shuri did for Okoye as a wedding gift so Okoye can spend time in Talokan too).

For the people who support me writing a Namuri story, here we go:
Plot 1: T'Challa is sick, he's state gets worse, Shuri decides to put him on cryo like they did with Bucky, but he can't stay like that forever so she has a deadline, meanwhile movie events follows and by the end, Shuri takes the Black Panther role while her team is working on T'Challa, he's healed and introduces her to his son. T'Challa brings Nakia and Toussaint to the court, they get married and Namor is invited to the wedding, where they finally meet, some time after, the Wakandan council suggests an arranged marriage between the Talokan king and the princess, Shuri protests but in time agree. I'm bringing T'Challa back because it'd be awesome to still have Chadwick here and he would tease Shuri about him and the double dates. (Maybe here Ramonda wouldn't die directly because of Namor).
Plot 2: After the events of the movie, Namor proposes the arranged marriage, M'Baku calls Shuri back to see her opinion, she eventuslly agrees and things goes angsty until they get romantic.

I just had a random thought (Just a headcannon not a suggestion). Do you think Wakanda would have popstars or celebs the way the rest of the world does? Because I imagine that if they did, it would be really local since they were so closed off from the world. Because I'm trying to imagine a Wakandan popstar wanting to perform at Attuma and Okoye's wedding now or actor from a Wakandan TV show showing up and I'm crying at how confused the Talokanil would be about it.
You know what. Yes.
Hear me out.
Tumblr media
I think their dynamics with celebrities aren't as chaotic as they are in the rest of the world.
Like, you see how T'Challa and Shuri can roam around Wakanda. And everyone is really kind and respectful. No one is fainting because the King of Wakanda is walking down the street with his girlfriend in BP1. No one is foaming at the mouth working in a lab with Shuri.
So, I think that same dynamic would apply.
Like, maybe a really well-known Wakandan singer comes up and greets Okoye and Attuma, and he's very indifferent about her.
And Okoye is like- "She's an amazing singer. I listen to her while I'm training. Alllllll the time."
And Attuma is jealous, because he's a great singer.
And then the singer goes up there and gives us Beyoncé in Dubai vocals. And he has no choice but to be impressed. 🤣😭 So Okoye has him listen to one of her albums, and now he's a fan.
(I think the other talokanil people present would be impressed or have their own talents go up there to rep Talokan with a song. This may or may not lead to drunk karaoke later.)
Okoye is amused by the entire thing, because after the wedding and honeymoon Attuma is so invested in imitating her notes. Singing in xhosa, but not knowing what he's saying because he's still learning.
And Okoye is like: 🤭 "Baby, you just sang about fucking a woman you yearn for until daylight."
And Attuma is just: 😏 "Yeah. You."
(P.S. That last part was based on my love for music in other languages and how some of their best bops are freaky songs. 💀 You'll be getting down to a song about wet dreams and never know it until you google the lyrics. 🥹 Attuma has no shame though, so he'll be singing it to Okoye proudly.)
