I'm honestly shocked that since Emotion/Representation aired I've yet to see anyone do anything at all with Felix and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein??? I think about it every day it's literally THE Felix piece of media. It's his entire character thesis. What are we doing guys
I KNOW I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT IT THE OTHER DAY
To be fair I have seen a few people headcanoning it as one of Felix’s favourite books (Which yes. Absolutely. 1,000,000%) but there hasn’t been any fics/art/edits/etc. about it yet to my knowledge. My copy is at my parents’ and in French but I am tempted to find an English PDF since it’s been public domain for a good while now. The web weave potential is insane.
I have many thoughts about Felix and literature in general… I have him quote Cyrano de Bergerac all the time in my fics, for example. I was thinking of starting a list of works of art and literature he’d enjoy, so I’ll take this as a sign to get writing! I can get my fandom friends to make some suggestions as well! 📝

So there’s this new fanfic I read that’s a FrankenStan story called “I’m not Victor Frankenstein” and I’ve been utterly obsessed with it since it came out lol

Figured it was about time I collected all of my fics into one area, will ofc be updating it as I write more. It’s sorted by ship, including wherefrom they originate, with a brief description of what type (one-shot, chapter fic, same-universe if I’m feeling saucy) and a short summary of what happens. V proud of myself for figuring out how to link these tbh, but if any of the links isn’t working for the love of Pete please let me know. Fics with more than one chapter will be linked to the first chapter because...logic.
For the tags, I have chosen to only use the ship names, not __ x __ format, for the sake of trying to keep the tags somewhat in hand. The Truth Echoes Darkly: Short series; part 1 for The Truth Echoes Darkly. Echo Caves AU where instead of Emma, Hook confesses that he loves Rumple for maximum awkward.
The Echo Goes On: Short series; part 2 for The Truth Echoes Darkly. Back in Storybrooke, Rumple finds himself obsessed with Hook and realizes that he’s fallen in love as well.
My North Star: One-shot. Established CaptainCroc vow renewal, featuring Hook’s inner thoughts about how much he loves Rumple.
Better Than Blood: One-shot. Pretty racy, but the point is thinking about the poeticism of having sex with your ex-nemesis.
Cherik (Charles Xavier x Erik Lehnsherr {X-Men Movies}):
Sweetheart Will You Sleep With Me: One-shot. The night before they fight Shaw, Charles and Erik make the most of the little time they know they have left together and sleep in Charles’ room. Fluff, don’t get too excited by the title lol.
Baby While You’re At It: One-shot. Based on a Jessie Murph song. Angst with a happy ending. Charles is furious when Erik crashes a party at the school, so they have it out in the kitchen and get more-or-less back together by the end.
Espionage Husbands (Talos x Nick Fury {Captain Marvel/Secret Invasion}):
Locked In This Embrace: One-shot. Focuses on the forehead-touching scene from Episode 1, plus an original scene or two afterwards. Mostly Talos pining for Nick with a happy ending.
If You Are Gilgamesh And Did These Things: One-shot. Angst without a happy ending because the author was very upset and sad when Talos died. Nick is grieving Talos; Sonya isn’t helping.
Frankenwolf (Ruby Lucas x Victor Frankenstein {Once Upon A Time}):
Den of Blankets: One-shot. Ruby’s wolf instincts kick in during pregnancy and she builds a blanket-fort den. V fluff.
She Deserves To Have Your Name: One-shot (possibly same-universe as Den of Blankets). Victor has doubts about whether or not their child should have the name Frankenstein, but Ruby wouldn’t hear of anything else.
It’s Just A Dream: One-shot. Ruby has a nightmare spawned from her fears of being a bad parent; Victor comforts her.
As The Storm Blows Through: One-shot. Victor has anxiety during a storm because of what happened with Gerhardt, and Ruby comforts him.
Secret Admirers Are For The Subtle: One-shot. Victor anonymously sends Ruby flowers at the diner so he can drop by, “notice” them, and stick around to sketch them, all so he can spend time with Ruby. She’s on to him the entire time.
Blue Skies Smiling At Me: One-shot. Utterly fluffy beach fic. Ruby is having a good day relaxing with her friends, and it only gets better when her handsome husband joins them.
Frankenberry And The Fruit Brute: One-shot. Fun little Halloween fic where Ruby and Victor discover the General Mills cereals that match their fairytale identities.
Precursor To A Love Song: One-shot. Hyperion Heights AU where Ruby and Victor meet and feel an instant connection, even though they don’t know why. She’s a fashion designer and he’s a piano player/freelance artist. Potential springboard for a full chapter fic if I feel like it.
HatterHare (Mad Hatter x March Hare {Adventures In Wonderland}):
The First Kiss: One-shot. Just a fluffy lil idea about what their first kiss might’ve been like.
Every Bit Of You: One-shot. Projection’n’stuff about food issues basically.
Kalluzeb (Garazeb Orrelios x Alexsandr Kallus {Star Wars Rebels}):
Don’t You Know It’s Because He Loves You?: One-shot. Kallus discovers that Zeb is in love with him via a Lasat Honor Guard tradition.
To Convince You That I Love You: Chapter fic. Kallus does risky things to prove he would do anything for love of Zeb, or that he’s worthy of him, and ends up getting hurt. Angst with a happy ending, hurt/comfort.
Lokius (Loki x Mobius {Loki}):
The Man Of My Dreams And He’s Just Out Of Reach: One-shot (with a very long name lol). Mobius stands there across the street from Don’s house and misses Loki. Author was having some Feelings™.
Outlaw Queen (Regina Mills x Robin Hood {Once Upon A Time}):
A Slice Of Life: One-shot. Regina spends the day with her boys and thinks about how awesome it is to have them. V fluffy because the OQ family didn’t get enough of that.
Paxe/AxePaz (Paz Vizsla x Axe Woves {The Mandalorian}):
We Are Mandalorians: Our Love Must Be Forged: Chapter fic, 11 total. Axe and Paz slowly fall in love as they engage in the battle to retake Mandalore, more or less a fix-it for Paz dying in S3 canon.
PloKit (Plo Koon x Kit Fisto {Star Wars: the Clone Wars}):
Reader, Plo Married Him: One-shot. Plo and Kit share some quiet time just after their wedding.
The Tender Daily Ritual: One-shot. Basically just fluff; Kit helps Plo with lotioning his skin because it dries out in oxygen atmospheres.
Scogan (Scott Summers x Logan Howlett {X-Men Movies}):
Torn Between Love And Fear: One-shot. Scott wants to stay after sex and sleep in Logan’s room, but Logan is terrified of hurting him during a nightmare. Angst with a happy (and sort of spicy) ending.
You Scratch My Back, I’ll Scratch Yours: One-shot. Logan and Scott discover they have a mutual pain kink and indulge in it together for the first time. Incredibly spicy, I'm so proud of myself.
Spones (Spock x Dr. McCoy {Star Trek TOS}):
I Could Drink A Case Of You (I Would Still Be On My Feet): One-shot. Based on a Joni Mitchell song; angsty with a happy ending.

Guys….. I wrote a 1970 word Hurt/Comfort Clervalstein fic at 3am in one sitting. What the hell has become of me. What is this madness.
Here you go. These silly little Swiss men have enraptured me mind and soul. Also, I joke, but I genuinely had far too much fun writing this. I’ve finally actually completed a short story since that rewrite of Clerval’s death I did months ago. Take that, hundreds of unfinished novella drafts in my Google docs. Apparently the only thing that can motivate me long enough to complete my writing are a gay little scientist and poet from 200 years ago.
Side note, if anyone has any critiques or general feedback, feel completely free!

A/N:
These are letters to Margaret, Robert Walton's sister, in-between the days he sent canonical letters. So read at least those letters, if not the whole story of Frankenstein.
Spoiler, maybe, considering it's 200 years old, but Victor Frankenstein dies of something akin to hypo-thermia in the end. The last letter here takes place just before the final letter to Margaret where Robert speaks of Victor's death.
I've been wanting to write something for a while and only now I've gotten to it. I hope whatever audience I bring enjoys it all the same.

“A son?!” Jekyll shrieks, throwing his hands in the air. “Gabriel, we’re hardly dating, let alone ready for children!”
Utterson gently sets a hand on his partner’s shoulder. “Harry, dear, nowhere did I say he was our son.”
Victor, to the side, nods enthusiastically. “I am 22. I don’t think I qualify for adoption anymore.”
“He simply needs an older brother or father figure,” the lawyer continues. “Harry, he was going to marry his cousin.”
“Out of choice?!” Jekyll is horrified.
“No, out of obligation. He’s gay, Harry. His parents are awful.”
“Technically speaking, I think the fact that we’re all legal gay adults makes this weirder!”
“….little bit kinky, the way it’s being phrased,” Victor agrees, strolling up to Jekyll. “Look. You’re a scientist. I’m a scientist. Think of it as not an adoption, but a partnership.”
“If I were to, hypothetically, take on a partner, I would need an extensive interview process.” Jekyll looks to Utterson, who sighs and motions for his boyfriend to go on. Jekyll smiles, clears his throat, and speaks. “Question One: how many degrees do you have?”
If Victor could grow any paler, he would. “Well, it’s complicated…”
“So you’re not even a doctor.”
“Sir, I’m a single mom whose family kicked them out. College is not my concern.”
“Fine. Question T-“ Jekyll stops suddenly, processing, before screeching, I’M A GRANDFATHER?”
Utterson grabs Jekyll’s shoulder. “Love, please-“
“You’re not my father, Jekyll, and frankly, I have no desire for you to be.” The petite, exhausted man takes an even more exhausted breath. “I still believe I can make my father proud, and you taking me under your wing could be the beginning of such. I beseech you.”
“Yet you refuse to explain who you, a gay man, had a child with?”
“Death.”
“He reanimated the dead,” Utterson explains. “Thus, why he dropped out of college.”
The doctor pauses, before grasping Victor’s shoulders— hands nearing a bit too close to his neck. “I will let you be my son, but only if you promise to work your very hardest for the pursuit of knowledge. Understood?”
Victor nods.
“Do you have any questions, comments, or concerns?”
“If you’re my dad, do I get to call you daddy?”
Within the second, both scientists are bolting out the door— Jekyll making some absolutely INHUMANE sounds whilst in pursuit of his ‘son.’
Utterson sighs and pops an Advil.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is, for all purposes, one of my favorite books and certainly one of my top two favorite classics. However, it was only upon my most recent re-read (which was like right now I just finished it ten minutes ago) that I really appreciated how important the book is? I know it's a very well-known thing that it's good and important and ground-breaking and whatever but it REALLY IS good and important and ground-breaking!!
I am by no means an expert in the Western canon (nor do I really want to be), but it's clear from reading Frankenstein just how much it really changed the game. If you've read older books I'm sure you've noticed that a lot of them are super impersonal. For example, Moby-Dick has like five chapters were you actually get to intimately know the characters, but beyond that it's generally one of those "hi I'm a guy here's what happened" books with little substance regarding character and inner thoughts. Frankenstein is not. It's told from three different points of view (though mainly from Victor's), and each of them have distinct voices and differing opinions and perspectives. The prose doesn't lean to hard on "if it's more complicated it's better", and in my mind that's probably influenced by how much time Mary spent around poets while writing it.
It's also very complicated. I mean, the modern popular interpretation is that Victor Frankenstein is the real monster, and like... yeah? I mean, yes. Bad guy a lot of the time in how he treats his creation. But also, you get to understand him and it's hard to really say he's bad. There is no character that you can point out and say "that one!!!! that's the bad guy definitely!!!" and I think that's so cool and good and awesome. There's a reason that the original alternate title was A Modern-Day Prometheus. Prometheus took fire from the gods, but he thereby made the people hungry for more, and he brought horrible punishment upon himself. That's certainly echoed in this book.
Basically this whole rambling rant with no real structure is just me saying I want to eat this book yea okay we got to my point I want to eat this book everyone should go read it I love Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley and you do too. and then you should read Jeanette Winterson's Frankissstein: A Love Story which is queer (if flawed in some of the ways that it discusses things like HRT) and thought-provoking and just super awesome and fun.
