All the Haunts Be Ours: A Compendium of Folk Horror will be releaed on December 7 via Severin Films. The Blu-ray box set features Kier-La Janisse's new documentary, Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror (also available separately) plus 19 folk horror movies.

So, this is an artist who never actually got me pieces. Because, pandemic! (They didn’t die. Just, like, 2020 is rough.)

They seemed to be good at the anatomy of weird creatures.

And this is another artist who never actually got me pieces. In this case, by politely bowing out shortly after getting the assignment.

They also seemed to be good at the anatomy of weird creatures.

... In this fashion, I wound up getting back allllll the pieces that I’d assigned with weird creatures in them that might need detailed and interesting anatomy, with no one left as the obvious choice to assign them to.

And today is a double feature about both of their assignments, for the sake of all the readers or artists who might be superstitious about 13 or 14 but probably not actually both. ^_^

Piece Style: standard (dark?) fantasy

Strategist: Hispanic, she/her

Description: a Hispanic Strategist, wearing earphones and listening to music, walks through a land of monsters. She has slain a number of them.

The way I am imagining this is, like, maybe she is in a place of forest spirits or similar fae. And maybe the piece is framed in a circle of twigs.

Or classic fantasy trolls/giants, kind of similar to forest spirits I guess.

Or winter monsters.

Or she is on the moon, and there are moon monsters.

She is walking up towards some sort of burning light? No, that doesn’t let you show much of her.

She is walking down a winding road towards the viewer, maybe? And behind her are two toppled giant monsters with their arms cut off, and other dead strewn about?

She is probably using a sword or spear or some other archaic weapon, to avoid any weird stereotypes about guns.

She isn’t really paying attention, I think.

The tone of the piece is a bit old-school, I guess. She should feel like an action hero.

Note: please avoid unfortunate stereotypes. Unless you’re a Hispanic woman or clear it with a female Hispanic sensitivity consultant:

she is not oversexed or wearing notably provocative clothing;

nor is she giving an overly childlike/innocent impression;

she is not a maid (as should be obvious); and

she is not a buffoon.

Commentary

Eventually I decided to give this one to Elena Albanese, whom you haven’t met yet. This was because I never wound up actually having any idea who to give it to and then she was free and had just turned in a really great pair of pieces at the time sooo ...

That was that.

And the character and action turned out well!

In hindsight, I should probably have pushed for more alien monsters. Not her fault, I didn’t ask for them, I’m just thinking as I look at the final piece that it would have sold Chancels as more interesting places if they were less human-like.

The roughs I wound up with, if you’re curious:

The best feature in all of these was, without a doubt, the rock faces, buuuut ...

Top right, labelled “1,” still looked the best overall.

Plus! When I plugged it into the book, her right-hand glove and sword sort of swept out an indication of the heading Pacing. And that was super-cool!

(I asked her to make sure to keep this feature of the piece.)

“Reccefrid Saldanes, who is dying of Wealth”

Piece Style: a “Strategist” dying of the thing [...]

Strategist: Caucasian, sort of plain, she/her

Bane: Your choice, or “wealth” (/money/cash)

Examples:

fighting a snake made of bills on a pyramid with an eye (like the one on the dollar);

in a hospital bed, but the IV is stuffed with cash instead of fluid and there are coins instead of pills on a presented tray;

being menaced by weird monsters holding a giant check;

or walloped by a gangster using a really stiff giant check as a weapon;

carrying a giant coin sack across the desert;

an origami dollar bill in the shape of a scorpion approaches along her pillow as she sleeps;

reaching out with forceps and exaggerated care to pick up a bill that a cashier is offering her in change.

Note: I am randomly marking this character as being “sort of plain” as a backstop against a book full of Hollywood stars. There’s no other meaning. If you don’t have a firm sense of what “plain” looks like as opposed to “pretty,” um, TBH neither do I, it might not actually be meaningful, you can either do your best or, I guess, do what Hollywood does and draw a pretty person with blotchy skin and bad glasses.

Commentary

This one didn’t necessarily have any weird creatures in it, unless you counted rich people; I was just giving it to ?? because I tried to give everyone a “Strategist, dying of the thing” piece.

(That’s just how everlovin’ I am!)

In the end I regifted it on to Elizabeth, who offered up the following choices of rough:

I was sad that C didn’t work as well as I’d hoped when imagining it, but that made B a clear lock for the win. ^_^

Piece Style: dark fantasy

Strategist: whatever works best, but Indian she/her, Chinese they/them, or Chinese he/him are probably ideal for overall book balance.

Description: A picture set in the deepest layers of existence, before time, before space, before much of anything, really—the Drowning Deeps.

In this field of multilayered grey, a Strategist meditates.

They are possibly wearing full regalia, rather than the less-formal clothing that the protagonists of the game are prone to wear.

Around them curls a weird alien abyssal-deeps-trilobite-centipede-dragonfish kind of monster. It is not necessarily fully connected in all of its parts. It is definitely floating, rather than standing. It is, in some sense, winged.

If one can see its eyes, they are Excrucian eyes.

It is “winged corrosion, nameless curses, a culling fog”—the form in which Excrucians manifest, sort of comparable to Excrucian Actuals if you played 3e, in the Drowning Deeps.

This piece is in part a callback to Raven Mimura’s “Nobilis Rite” from Nobilis 2e, and so maybe the pose will be a little similar?

… although obviously unless you do photo-based or photorealistic art your take will be a little different.

If you do include a flower in the meditation, which you absolutely don’t! have to, consider the flowers from pg. 78, 127, or 175 of Nobilis: Antithesis (attached).

Commentary

This one stumped me for a good while, but eventually I realized that Melissa Spandri could do it. We’ll talk about her later on too!

... I can totally see a book that would want B, but that book was not Glitch. (Maybe B is a Deceiver? ^_^)

“Hradegais Loden, who is dying of Sunrise”

Piece Style: a “Strategist” dying of the thing [...]

Strategist: Caucasian, he/him

Bane: Your choice, or “sunrise”

Examples:

a tired guy (possibly in pajamas) has stopped in the act of going to bed because the sun is rising outside the window. It is the middle of the night otherwise. (Presumably … a television is on the station-closed-down-for-the-night hold pattern, and a clock on the desk says, “2am,” and the sky is still somehow dark, and the street is empty? I’m not sure how you’d show it’s still the middle of the night, TBH. Maybe a running marquee under a newscaster on television complaining, “sun rises in the middle of the night in eastern part of the city AGAIN”?)

a guy is trying to dodge what appear to be literal sunray javelins that the sunrise is throwing at him while walking an excited dog through the suburbs, or trying to feed a cat without tripping over it, or maybe flinging himself out of the way as a business presentation gets skewered by one

a guy’s foot is catching on fire as he sits on the beach and the sun rises and the light line crosses his foot, only he’s just kind of staring at it, too depressed to move, rather than getting up. He is probably unkempt and kind of emo.

a guy in an abstract elevator shaft kind of thing has his hands crossed in front of his face as miniature suns shoot up through the floor all around him and past him

a guy is posing for a photo shoot while behind him the rising, roiling sun opens its angry mouth to devour him

Commentary

This one went to ??!, a “weird creatures” artist, because of the roiling sun with a mouth. It didn’t technically need to go to an artist with that specialty---

Which is why, in the end, it ultimately didn’t!

It was surprisingly tough to figure out what I should do with it after the original plan for it fell through, though. It’s not that there weren’t a bunch of artists I could have given it to, but, like, the piece didn’t have much going for it but artistic sensibilities, and it was early in the book, so the sensibilities had to be right.

In the end, I held onto it for a really long time and then gave it to Jenn Manley Lee when she was available!

(Though at the specific time I gave it to her I had started feeling weird about having both “Caucasian” and “(specific country)” ethnicities, so I decided to replace that label, for this piece, with “Finnish.”)

I got back the rough of:

which delighted me because, like, I didn’t have that kind of art style in the book yet, and more stylistic variety, as I’ve noted, was good.

But!

We’ll talk more about Jenn Manley Lee later on. ^_^

Examples:

they are standing up through a car’s sunroof and cheering, from the driver’s seat, on the road;

they are snuggling up to a heated old-style stove;

they are looking at a chimera that’s stalking towards them in an alley with this Tom Baker-style “this is awesome, what a great way to die” grin;

they are playing a fiddle on the freeway, amidst the cars;

they’re cheerfully working on a laptop while wearing rags in the snow in the forest. It is possible that some indication of having recently received a comment or like on some fanfic is visible on screen, but I’m not sure that’s compositionally possible.

The rough for it was so good that I actually almost goofed and let it into the final book instead of updating it:

... just, there was some part of my deep subconscious that kept breezing past it in the book and going, “Yeah, that seems legit.”

Warning: Rant no one gives a single shit about, and probably disagrees with me on.

I think Takeuchi was a great idea person by and large, even given my problems with her execution, but something that I HATE and LOATHE is her use of ~meaningful names~. It’s not just her, whenever I see it other anime, or fantasy novels, I find it irritating and try-hard and it pulls me out of the story. But GOD does it make me nuts especially in these contexts, GREAT MYSTERY SOLVED BY A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF LANGUAGE.

And it only gets worse, by the time we get to my girls, she’s not even TRYING, Miss “Distant Uranus” and “Maturity Neptune” YES TENOHSEI AND KAIOHSEI ARE HOW YOU SAY URANUS AND NEPTUNE IN JAPANESE AND WHEN I DISCOVERED THIS I BUBBLED WITH A RAGE I HAD NOT FELT IN EONS.

Please imagine with me, BunBunny Moon Moon, as played by me, finding out that the people named Uran and Nep, are, in fact, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus. Who I know to be around. Who I am in constant conflict with. And somehow I’m also around these jackoffs.

Gasp. Wow. Enthralling. How nice of your parents to have thematically correct names. Never saw that coming.

Wishing yesteryear shining star, Nimmi happy birthday as she turns 86 years today. Nimmi was a highly popular star right through the 1950s acting with all the top heroes of her time and working with directors like Raj Kapoor, Kidar Sharma, Mehboob Khan, Amiya Chakravarty, S.U. Sunny and KA Abbas. However, her larger than life gestures and eye-popping theatrics have not always held up well and admittedly many of her performances look stilted today. But there’s no denying her stardom and popularity in her heyday. In fact, one of her greatest admirers was no less than Ismail Merchant! She gained popularity playing spirited village belle type characters but also appeared in diverse genres such as fantasy and social films. Here, Nimmi speaks about her first break in films: "Raj Kapoor noticed me on the sets of “Andaz” in 1948 and offered me the role of a prominent character opposite his brother-in-law Prem Nath in “Barsaat” in 1949. I was thrilled at the opportunity of working with established actors like Raj Kapoor and Nargis. At the same time, I also feared being sandwiched between heavyweights like them. Though it was his second film as a director, Raj Kapoor showed ample promise both behind and in front of the camera. Since he himself was a natural actor, he did not believe in theatricals and gave equal footage to all actors. Raj Kapoor was one director who never kept the camera focused too much on himself. During the shooting of “Barsaat”, I emoted more than required in some of my pathos scenes. Raj Kapoor maintained his cool and then told me, “Don't overdo. Remember, you are a normal human being who has been ditched by her playboy lover. Be conscious whilst delivering your shots but again don't get over conscious.” These words from Raj Kapoor were like an inspirational mantra for me. I followed them throughout my career. After the success of “Barsaat”, I was flooded with offers. Mehboob Khan cast me opposite Dilip Kumar in his technicolor costume drama “Aan” in 1951. I had to perform an absurd scene of dancing even after consuming poison in “Aan”. I was not convinced but Mehboob Khan, the grand director that he was, explained to me that it was fantasy and not a realistic film as such. With Dilip Kumar I formed a successful pair and we starred in hit after hit like “Uran Khatola”, “Daag”, “Amar” and “Deedar”. Dilip was and still is fond of me. He affectionately addresses me as Pagli. I still don't forget how after the shooting of the “Aye Mere Dil Kahin Aur Chal” sequence in “Daag”, picturized on me, he softy kissed my forehead and said, “Brilliant”. Whilst Raj was a born actor, spontaneous in approach, Dilip is studied, method and versatile. Another gifted actor of those times, Dev Anand, worked with me in “Saaza” and “Aandhiyan”. Handsome and romantic, Dev Anand simply conquered all hearts with his smile. “Aandhiyan” is a memorable film of mine directed with expertise by Dev's elder brother Chetan Anand. He and cinematographer Jal Mistry waited for seven days to shoot the storm sequence in “Aandhiyan” on Dev and me. They waited to get the reddish sky before the storm. I consider “Anjali” as my best film and the entire credit for it goes to the imaginative Chetan Anand for extracting commendable work out of me as the Chandalini. “Mere Mehboob” was a beautiful Muslim social I enjoyed working in but my true challenge was as the dumb lover of Ashok Kumar in “Akash Deep” in 1964, in which Dharmendra also showed his acting skills very well."

Gender Alignment: Solarian

Gender Element: Tephrian

Gender Expression: Crow-fox and Cinnab

Orientation: Uranic Achillean

Romantic Attraction: Placio-Recipromantic

Sexuality: Aego-Demisexual

Definitions for all this

Transmasculine - a general, broader term for individuals who were AFAB but identify closer to the masculine (or male) side of the gender spectrum.

The familiar pronoun set is for those who know me to use. Formal set is for strangers, formalities, etc.

Androx / Mascandrogyne - A gender between androgyne and male. A male-leaning androgyne. Color-wise its a blue-violet/indigo.

Proxvir - a gender that is adjacent/similar to male, but is separate and entirely its own. Color-wise its a blue-green/turquoise (to me anyway).

Demiboy - someone whose gender is partially or nearly male, and partially some other thing. Color-wise it is a grey-blue. I'm not as fond of this term but it does fit me. Magiboy is a type of demiboy who feels mostly male.

Genderfaun: gender fluidity that never encompasses femininity but can include male, male-adjacent/masculine and neutral genders.

Probably shouldn’t have binge-watched the new season of Twin Peaks while still feverish from the flu last week (I had some crazy extended dreams!), but it did remind of how awesome and genuinely a good guy Agent Cooper is. And we could use some of that in our lives. This phenomenal show, that was a true extension of the original series, gives us a thumbs-up from Agent Cooper to start us with this week’s blog.

Hard to believe it has been a week since we held our Onyx Path Summit at MidWinter! Even though a bunch of us were in various phases of getting sick, it was a hugely positive and open gathering where we examined a bunch of topics designed to get us all on the same page as to where the company is financially, psychologically, and philosophically.

We took a whole lot of body-blows in 2017, from deaths of our long-time friends and partners, to social media buffeting, and worries about human rights in our industry and throughout the world. And while Onyx Path the company came through toughened and with a lot more projects accomplished than before the year started, it took it’s toll on all of your Onyx Path crew.

We talked about more productive use of our tools, better understanding of our Onyx co-workers, stress and how to deal with it when you see your coworkers showing signs, the changing role of developers, and how Onyx can better take care of our folks as they continue to push us further into the areas we have just started to touch on with our various venues. These were all big topics to be discussed. And projects, lots of talk about projects big and small!

Everything revolved around one concept, though: that we intend to keep going on as we have with Onyx Path, and to use the lessons learned to both better the company, and to be sure that the work we’re doing doesn’t grind us down. We have to remember that neither the work, nor the ability to do it in a way that provides satisfaction and joy, is something that is done by one person.

We have helpers when we do our jobs in order to get those jobs done right, sure, but also we have helpers so we don’t go bug-fuck crazy while doing it!

Which is sometimes hard to remember when we’re all tele-commuting, and working in our own spaces. But oh so very important.

You’ll see the results of our introspection and team-building as the year passes and even more projects are caught up to and released, and new ones are added to the schedule.

Something else that came up a few times at MidWinter was just where folks could get our projects. Like, even though we think we talk about it all the time, people are still wondering, or amazed that we have stuff available in more venues than the last time they checked.

So, here’s a quick sales venue overview:

We create Kickstarter campaigns for projects when we want to use traditional printing; sometime swanky Deluxe versions, sometimes versions that we hope to get into game stores. You can follow me as a Kickstarter creator by going to one of our KS pages. After a KS is over, we have started using BackerKit to continue to allow folks to “pre-order” Kickstarter projects. You can get to those through BackerKit, or by going the KS project you are interested in and hitting the link in the upper right that we create that leads to the BackerKit site.

Once we have delivered those Kickstarter projects to the KS backers, we have started selling the Deluxes through Indie Press Revolution. You can order direct, or you can have your Friendly Local Game Store order for you. We just had a big sale at the end of the year, so keep an eye out for those Deluxes and Screens you’ve been looking for.

For projects we Kickstart in order to fund a traditional print run, they are made available through Studio2: you can order from them directly or have your Friendly Local Game Store contact them, or order through you store’s favorite Distributor. Studio2 works to get the games into stores. Right now, they are only doing that for Pugmire, but soon that will be joined by Scarred Lands, Scion 2nd Edition, and even Changeling: the Lost 2nd Edition.

Medieval Fantasy AU

How Prince Daichi (Sir Atlas) and Princess Livian (The Princess Knight) meet each other for the first time and fall in love .…

The young Advisor Astro was very loyal and helpful to his close friend Prince Daichi, the two had a strong brotherly bond in which no one could ever corrupt. He and the prince would support one another and share things only a brother would understand. The young advisor knew many sacred secrets of the prince, the most sacred secret of them all of course was when Daichi told Astro he was the Vigilante Red Knight “Sir Atlas”, He kept this sacred secret under lock and key well and the only other person who knew so was the young advisors close friend Lady Epsilon- Being a gifted mage, not only in weather, she also had the ability to seek out the truth in others and figured out the prince was “Sir Atlas”.

The only secret that Astro hadn’t shared with the prince was his friendship with the beautiful Princess Livian and Lady Epsilon of the other kingdom, the only other person who knew about this was maiden Uran, she too was good friends with the princess and weather mage. Astro had ways of seeing his friends without the prince detecting anything suspicious, Often he and Uran would sneak away when he had finished assisting the prince for the day. Everyday after he would return home back to the kingdom, Astro felt a sense of guilt. Deep down he wanted to tell Prince Daichi of his two other friends and introduce him to them, but there was this small part deep down that wasn’t sure if he was ready to share this confidential intel with him yet …..

Early morning had come fast, on this particular day the young advisor had made secretive plans to meet up with the Princess and weather mage alongside with his sister.

“Now Uran remember to wait at the old willow tree for me and we’ll sneak off together, I don’t want anyone to get suspicious”

“Yeah, yeah you worry too much big brother ,I’ll be there I promise” Uran said with a cheeky grin upon her face.

“Alright then,I better get going before I’m late again, I’ll meet you there. Goodbye Uran”

“Goodbye Big brother, Have a good day now” she cried out from the doorway as she watched her brother run through town to the castle.

Astro dashed through town dodging hurdles as he went, finally he reached the castle just in time. Of course the Prince was already awaiting Astro’s arrival at the castle gates.

“Well, well look who made it on time today” prince Daichi said with a cheeky smirk across his face.

“He he yeah, sorry about those other times your highness”.

“Never mind that little brother, come on we got a busy early morning ahead of us”

“Very well then” Astro replied as he followed the prince through the castle gates.

Their morning was very busy, with the occasional goofing around in between to lighten the mood of typical boring royal duties. Luckily for them time flew by quickly, the prince and his young advisor were making their way down to the training arena as the prince would usually do a lot of dual sword training for tournaments and so forth. This was Astro’s chance to sneak away from the prince without making him suspicious as he had finished all his duties for the day.

“Alright little brother you can go sit and relax for a bit, I’m gonna go show these amateurs how swordplay is really done”.

“Ok, very well your highness”.

So Astro went and sat down on the bench in the peanut gallery and watched the prince for a while, and the very moment he was lost in his swordplay he would sneak away.

The young advisor sat there for a good fifteen minutes watching the prince take down his training opponents- the prince was a superior warrior and swordsman, none of these men could take him down. As he was quite distracted now, Astro began to slowly move himself out of the peanut gallery, then in that moment he quickly looked over his shoulder at the training arena, then quickly turned his head away and ran off to meet up with his little sister at the old willow tree.

Though he may have been in mid training up against these amateurs, the prince caught a glimpse of his young friend running off suspiciously, this made him dubious of what his young friend was up to. Though he was still in the middle of training now, Daichi vowed that once he was done, he’d go find his young friend Astro and seek out what he was up to.

Astro once again was running through town, with the slight feeling of guilt down in the pit of his stomach. He took many side streets, shortcuts, twists and turns and had finally arrived at the old willow tree, but when he arrived at the tree his sister wasn’t waiting for him like he asked her to. It was no surprise she wasn’t there, Uran had a tendency to get easily distracted. He let out a sigh of annoyance, then Astro went running around town once more to find where she’d gone. He spent a good ten minute running around to all of Uran’s favourite hangout places, but she wasn’t at any of them. Astro was desperate to find her, he knew that Daichi would finish up his duel sword training soon and start getting suspicious of his young advisor's whereabouts.

Back at the training arena, time had flown by of course and the prince had finished his swordplay for the day. He thoroughly enjoyed taking down all those other amateur swordsmen. Before he went out again, he quickly freshened up and then set out to find out what his young advisor was up to. Meanwhile, in town the young advisor had finally found his little sister down by the old wishing well talking to her bird friend Houdini…

“Ahh, there you are. Uran you were supposed to meet me at the old willow tree like you promised you would earlier this morning”.

“I’m sorry big brother, Houdini and I got a little bit distracted”

He smiled at her sincerely and relieved, “ It’s alright Uran, there’s still time for us to go meet up with princess Livian and Lady Epsilon without being caught sneaking off”.

“R-Really?”..

“Yeah, really come along now”.

He gently grabbed his sisters hand and the two ran through town as quickly as possible. They took a shortcut through the marketplace as it was certainly the easiest access to the main road out of town. Just as they were running through the marketplace, the prince had passed by and was walking through it, Astro and Uran had no clue he was there. As the two ran, Astro looked back and his stomach had a horrible sinking feeling when he saw Daichi nearby. In the heat of the moment, Astro clasped his hand tighter around his sisters and practically dragged her as he began running quicker..

“Oww, Astro you're crushing my hand”

“Not now, Uran, Daichi’s here if he finds you and I we’re gonna be in trouble”.

“Ok then big brother” she sighed slightly grumpy.

As the prince walked on by looking here and there, something or more like someone caught his attention. Daichi had finally found Astro and to his surprise Uran as well. He saw that they were making their way out of town, heading towards the main road out of town and the kingdom. The prince was getting very suspicious of their dubious behaviour, so he decided the best way to confront them was to cut them off. Luckily he knew of his own shortcut to blockade them before the two could head out of town. He vastly made his way through the crowd and to the main road via his shortcut ready to once and for all find out what his young advisor was up to.

After dodging crowds, running around town like mad chooks and avoiding the prince, Astro and Uran had finally made it out of the marketplace.

“Phew, we made it big brother”

“Not yet Uran, we better move quickly or…”

“Or else what little brother?”....

Astro felt a spine tingling chill stab him in the back when he heard that voice, he turned around a little ashamed and a bit red. Prince Daichi had caught him red handed.

“And where are you two off two in such a hurry then, hmm?..” He asked, raising a brow and with a slight smirk upon his face.

“Umm .. w.. Well y..you see, umm…”

“We’re going to see our other friends from the other kingdom and spend some time with them” Uran exclaimed cheekily giving in to the prince’s interrogation.

The prince shook his head cheekily in disbelief… “ Oh little brother, you know you can’t hide secrets from me. I always have ways of finding out”

“He, he yeah.. You’re right.. I’m sorry.”

“So then you two, looks like we’re going to see your friends together” Daichi said with a cheeky smirk carved upon his face

“Alright then, your highness. We better get going” Astro sighed a little.

“Very well then little brother, you show us the way then”.

So the three set off towards the other kingdom where they would meet up with their two best friends. The only thing was that the young advisor never told the prince that his friends were the beautiful Princess Livian and the lovely Lady Epsilon. Astro was very good friends with these two young ladies, especially Lady Epsilon- the two would meet up regularly and chat about what’s been going on in their lives and what's been happening in their kingdoms. The advisor and weather mage also shared their most sacred secrets with each other too- Only they knew the true Identities of “The Princess Knight” and “Sir Atlas”. Both have solemnly kept these secrets sacred and no one else knows of who these two daring knights were ….

In the other kingdom, the streets were buzzing with cheery townsfolk, everything was very calm and humble. Down in the streets, Princess Livian was out and about finishing some royal duties with her close friend Lady Epsilon.

“ Come on Eps, we better get a move on before Astro and Uran turn up”

“Alright then Livian, wait up” Epsilon cried out running after her.

The two girls headed off down to the town hall to help out the kind old women who look after the orphans.

After travelling for quite some time, the prince, Astro and Uran finally made their way to the other kingdom. They got there a bit early in the end, so the three went walking around town for a while- Astro and Uran were showing Daichi a few of their favourite places around their friend’s kingdom. The prince certainly enjoyed the tour of this kingdom, though in the back of his mind Daichi still questioned why Astro didn’t want to tell him about this kingdom and their other friends in the first place.

Though as they were walking on by, many young women in town turned their heads as they walked passed. These women began to woo and blush at this handsome red headed hunk-The prince had a tendency to cause young women to do such he was VERY attractive, right now though all this attention caused poor Daichi to feel a bit hot under the collar. Especially when they started to blow kisses at him and cheekily wink at him.

When young maiden Uran looked at him, she could help but cheekily giggle at prince Daichi’s flustered face.

After walking around and touring the town for quite a while, Astro and Uran took Daichi to the water fountain in the centre of town where they would wait to meet up with their two friends. The three sat down on the edge of the fountain, chatting and watching the townsfolk walk by. As the young ones were watching the townsfolk, Daichi sat there slumped forward with his cheeks resting in the palms of his hands. He was lost in thought, questioning who these friends were. Astro looked over at the prince- he could tell that this was eating away at his mind, so he decided to scootch over closer to him.

“H.. Hey Umm.. Daichi?”

“Yeah Astro?”...

“I’m sorry for not telling you about these other friends earlier. I wanted to tell you, really I did, i..it's just that.. I was afraid that you might not have been upset and I didn’t know how you would react if I told you”...

The prince could see how sincere Astro was and he knew he meant well. He sighed as he placed his hand on his young advisor's shoulder..

“Nah, don’t worry about it little brother, I understand”.

Astro looked at the prince sincerely smiling… “Well I know you’re only meeting them for the first time, but they are really kind young ladies”.

The prince perked up a little, with a cheeky smirk on his face he replied …

“Oh I see now why you didn’t want to tell me now little brother”. He said playfully prodigy and nudging Astro in the arm.

“ N-No it’s not that at all, they are older than me, they are just really nice people that’s all”

The prince sat their cheekily shaking his head and smiling..

“ He he he, I’m just kidding little brother, don’t worry about it”.

“He he yeah, I get it” Astro replied awkwardly laughing.

Uran of course just sat there giggling at the two of them.

Back down at the town hall, Princess Livian and Lady Epsilon had just finished looking after the orphans and helping out the elderly women who look after them.

“Thankyou dearly Princess Livian and Lady Epsilon for your help today”

Livian smiled sincerely “You’re very welcome Mrs Wilson and I’m always happy to help you out with the children”.

“Indeed, we are always here to help you and the children Mrs Wilson”.

“ Alright then girls, I better not keep you here for longer than you have to be. You two have a lovely day now dears”.

“Goodbye Mrs Wilson” Livian replied sincerely.

“ You have lovely day too Mrs. Wilson”. Epsilon chimed in.

Now with their duties done for the day. Livian and Epsilon set off to the centre of town to meet up with their young friends at the water fountain. Of course though Livian hadn’t seen her young friends in quite some time, so she kinda ran off ahead of Epsilon and yet again Lady Epsilon went running after her.

“Livian, Livian wait up. Please be careful, I don’t wanna see you getting hurt.”

Turning her head to look back over her shoulder, Livian replied .…

“You worry too much Epsilon, I’ll be fine”

The Princess was a pretty fast runner and very quick on her feet, she ran past the crowds of towns folk dodging them swiftly as she ran by. And five minutes later after dodging and weaving out of the crowds, the princess caught a glimpse of her young friends at the water fountain with a handsome young man she’d never seen before.

She smiled dearly, then cheerfully shouted out ….

“Astro, Uran. I’m so glad you came”

Astro and Uran turned around and smiled when they saw their friend Princess Livian. When the Prince looked up towards their mysterious friend, he couldn’t believe his eyes. They were wide open and his face began to slightly fluster. How on earth did they meet such a beautiful and delicate looking young woman like her. As Livian ran up closer and closer to her friends and this mysterious handsome man over by the water fountain, she didn’t notice this small rock on the road. And just as she ran by it her heel got caught, Livian was sent flying towards the fountain.

In that moment, Prince Daichi quickly jumped up and dashed over towards this beautiful young woman. Luckily for her, the prince caught this mysterious beauty in his strong masculine arms just in time, any later any she would’ve ended up drenched in the fountain. Once the princess got over her initial shock of tripping over and looked up the poor thing went completely beet red. But she looked at this handsome stranger sincerely. He was certainly hot and immensely strong that’s for sure...

When the prince locked eyes with this beautiful young woman, he felt his face fluster even more. As he stared into her beautiful sparkly crystal blue eyes, something about this gorgeous ombre haired beauty seemed familiar to him, but this feeling just attracted him to her even more as did it to her with him.

Quickly shaking off his flustered feelings and gently letting go of her, the prince asked out of concern .…

“A...Are you alright ?”

Livian now sitting on the edge of the fountain looked up. She blushed deeply and mumbled in reply..

“O..Oh.. Umm. T.. Thankyou for saving me, I.. I’m ok just a little shaken”.

He smiled sincerely.

“I’m glad you’re ok now m’lady”.

This caused her to fluster and squirm a little more.

The two began to cutely stare at each other and look off to the side when the other one caught one another, they were just all cute, blushie and had fallen for one another.

Then also worried about their friend, Epsilon Astro and Uran ran over to them also.

“Livian, Livian. Are you alright? I told you to be careful, are you hurt?”

“I’m sorry Eps, I’m alright. Just a little shaken that’s all”.

“Oh thank goodness you’re ok” Epsilon said in relief.

Astro smiled dearly, “ It’s nice to see you again Princess Livian, how are you?”

“Yeah, I’m glad to see you again too” Uran said, passing the princess her heel.

“And I’m glad to see you two again too,” Livian replied, putting her heel back on.

The prince then cleared his throat to get his young advisors attention, Astro heard of course..

“Oh Sorry, Princess Livian, Lady Epsilon this is our good friend Prince Daichi. And Prince Daichi, these are our two friends Princess Livian and Lady Epsilon”.

Epsilon and Livian politely curtseyed to him, he bowed to Epsilon. But when he turned to the princess, he got down on one knee, gently took her by the hand and laid a small kiss upon it …..

“My dearest princess, it's an honour to meet you”.

Poor Livian looked off to the side all cutesy and red. The prince just looked at her all rosy and smiley....

Then she looked back sincerely..

“I..It’s lovely to meet you too your highness”..

“Please, my dear lady call me Daichi”

“O..ok then Daichi” Livian said, all cutesy and blushie.

The two were just staring at each other, all cute and awkward. Of course Uran could help but giggle again. The two then blushed when they realised that they’d forgotten their friends were there. After all their cute fluffiness and awkwardness, the five of them spent the rest of the day out and about in Princess Livian’s kingdom. She of course was being a little bit awkward and clumsy the whole time, she couldn’t help that, the poor girl had fallen hard for the prince. He was just being too kind and sweet the whole time during their outing.

Time flew by quickly and their lovely day out and about was coming to an end as the sun began to set in the sky. The Princess and Lady Epsilon walked their friends to the main road out of town and there they said their goodbyes to one another..

“Well it was lovely of you two to come and visit again, oh you to your highness”

“It was nice to see you and princess Livian again too Lady Epsilon” Astro replied with a sweet sincere smile.

“Goodbye Miss Livian, Goodbye Miss Epsilon” Uran said, hugging them both ever so sweetly.

Princess Livian and Prince Daichi stood there all cute and awkward, but this time it wasn’t as bad like earlier…

The prince gently took her by the hand and pulled her closer to him, they both blushed deeply, then looking into her sparkly crystal blue eyes once more, he spoke from the heart..

“My dearest princess Livian, It was a pleasure to meet you. I had a wonderful time with you and the others today and I truly hope I can visit you again sometime very soon”

Livian felt a small tightness in her chest when he spoke sincerely. She looked off to the side for a moment and replied ever so sweetly…

“It was really nice to meet you too Daichi and I too hope we can meet again soon”.

Then in the spur of the moment, the Princess was all blushie now, but she leant in forward and gently kissed the prince on the cheek.

Poor prince Daichi was beyond beet red and of course typical uran couldn’t help herself but giggle at his reaction. Livian giggled a little too, she thought it was cute. After they said their goodbyes, Livian and Epsilon stood there watching as their friends made their way back to their kingdom. Epsilon looked at their friends, then back at Livian..

“Looks like you’ve got a little bit of a crush on the prince there Livy”

Livian blushed a little then sincerely begged..

“Please don’t tell him that Eps. I can’t help it, Prince Daichi is just really sweet and really handsome. That's all.”

“ I promise Livian, your secret is safe with me”. Epsilon, sincerely smiling guided the princess back into town and to the castle.

And as they were making their way back to their kingdom, a certain cheeky young maiden couldn’t help but cheekily tease the prince about his funny awkwardness around princess Livian. Astro of course kept telling her to stop teasing him, but she just couldn’t help herself.

The prince was grateful that his young advisor had introduced him to their friends, even though now he was being cheekily made fun of by his advisor’s little sister. Astro too was glad that the prince liked their friends, he was also very happy to hear that Daichi had found someone to love as well. All he ever wanted was to see him happy, just like any little brother would for their older sibling or friend.

From that day onwards the handsome prince Daichi and his beautiful princess Livian would meet up quite regularly with one another. Their love and feelings for each other grew more and more each time they met up and of course each time they were still cute and awkward, but they grew to love each other's cute awkwardness. Their feelings for one another were strong and one day hopefully they would find the courage deep down within themselves to reveal that they really loved and cared for one another.And hopefully be wed and live together in holy matrimony.

Anyways, this was a lot of fun to write, next up I’ll be writing how they find out about each others true identities when they are their badass knight selves, and yes it will include the others too. For now though I hope you enjoyed reading this ^^
