Day 10: Voodoo

Papyrus couldn’t blame Sans for not wanting to talk about his mishap with the Madjicks. It could not have been an easy ordeal to be trapped in a doll and endlessly squeezed like a stress-ball as Denise worried over her missing friend -- only mitigated by the fact that he assured them that such handling hadn’t hurt him, just tickled immensely.

But the younger skeleton just HAD to know WHY the normally friendly monsters would do such a thing to his brother! Had Sans offended them like he had the Temmies and provoked their ire? Were the newly free monsters becoming bullies?? Or was he simply a victim of circumstance? Sans was eluding the topic completely, but Papyrus couldn’t let it slide! As a sentry, he’d been trained to settle domestic disputes, and he was not about to let his community devolve into magic mayhem if he could help it!

He asked for Frisk’s help in locating the Madjick commune, as she was provided resources of the monster inhabitants with her position as ambassador. Then, he struck off boldly, determined to make things right, no matter what it took!

Just as he approached his destination, a crackle of energy ruffled his scarf, an excited looking Madjick zipping up next to him. The smaller monster landed on the ground, though the signature manifestations of Madjick magic remained bobbing in the air.

“Hello there!!” Papyrus greeted warmly. “I am the Great Papyrus!”

“Welcome, Great Papyrus!” The other monster bowed like a well-practiced showman. “I, Zamala, am at your service.”

“Thank you! I have come to inquire about my brother, Sans. He had been transformed into a doll -- he's better now -- and all that he would say is that he crossed paths with a Madjick.” Papyrus explained. “I had just wanted to find out if he had given any insult worthy of such retribution, and if so, how to make things right to prevent any potential escalation!”

Zamala laughed like a tinkling chime. "There is nothing for to pardon. Actually, your brother sought the spell from us himself!"

"Wait, what, really? Sans wanted to become a doll!?"

"He had asked if it were possible to create an enchantment that would link himself to a doll, that he may feel any touch upon it! And when I granted his request, I sent him home on a soft, silver wind to enjoy the magic!"

Back home, to his room, which now Denise was using to sleep in. So that's why she had found him there.

"Hrmm...." It was important to not mince words with Madjicks, but it seemed Sans had done just that. So what had he wanted instead, Papyrus pondered. The answer came so sudden and swift, that it almost knocked him off his feet with how obvious and silly it was. He snorted, giggling to himself.

Sans hadn't wanted to be a doll. He wanted to use a doll to be able to tickle himself! Why would that silly skeleton need such a thing when everyone in the household would already be happy to tickle him when he wanted it?

But, then, why was he finding the idea so appealing when the same applied to him...?

“Erm.... Nyeheh...! Say ... would you perhaps do a similar spell for me?” He would make sure to word it exactly right. He didn’t want to end up a literal tickle toy.

Several minutes and a powerful enchantment later, Papyrus held up a doll in his likeness that could fit in just one of his hands. Tentatively, he gave the tiny replica’s neck a gentle scritch with his finger, gasping in utter amazement as the sensation registered on his own neck, perfectly ticklish, just as if someone else had done it, but he was fully in control.

“The spell will fade after two days,” Zamala informed him cheerfully, beaming at having the chance to delight another monster with the arts of the arcane. “Take care and enjoy the magic!”

“Oh, I believe I shall!” Papyrus responded giddily. “Thank you so much!”

Nothing made a Madjick happier than to hear those magic words.
