A group of journalists held a public appeal yesterday for an end to Israel’s siege of the northern Gaza Strip, where practically no food aid has entered since October 2023. People in the north are living and dying in famine due to the complete blockade by the IOF.
To make matters worse, most mainstream media outlets are ignoring the plight of north Gaza, as the journalists and other people remaining in the north are predominantly Arabic-speaking. The north of Gaza is starving in silence.
Instagram user faridaek has been kind enough to repost the appeal with English subtitles added. This is a significant undertaking that we greatly appreciate, and we ask everyone with an Instagram account to share the video.
The journalist speaking is Islam Bader. He and his colleagues are making this appeal on behalf of the people of northern Gaza. The journalists present include Abed Alqadr Sabbah, Mahmoud Al-Awadia, Momin Abu Owda, Mahmoud Sabbah, Mahmoud El-Shareef, Anas Al-Sharif, Islam Bader, Mohammed Ahmed, and Fadi Al-Whidi, among others. The subtitles read
From the north of the Gaza Strip, we, as journalists still stationed here in the north stand today driven by our ethical responsibility and national duty as a voice for all those who remain steadfast in Gaza and its north who are being subjected to a policy of extermination and a policy of starvation which is no less than extermination. The markets have been emptied of all essentials, and there is no flour available except in rare instances. The occupation does not allow aid to enter, maintaining its obstinate siege against our people and our families. We are of this people, and today we speak for Palestinians, for the besieged and for those denied life’s essentials. The most basic necessities have now become extremely rare in Gaza.
Therefore, we issue this call as a final warning, about a severe famine that is unprecedented on a global scale and impacting all facets of life, particularly children, individuals with chronic conditions and society’s most vulnerable groups. We hold the Israeli occupation and the international community especially the United States responsible for this starvation because it is happening in front of the eyes and ears of the entire world without any concrete action [on the ground] to stop it. The occupation’s claims of aid delivery are deceptive and unfounded. In reality, nothing has entered the north of the Gaza Strip.
Therefore, this final call, on behalf of all these people, on behalf of our fellow journalists, on behalf of our families and on behalf of Palestinians and the displaced in the north of the Gaza Strip is for the world to uphold its responsibility. North Gaza is starving, and this famine must be stopped.

Prompt 167
Honestly, Danny is having such a good time right now. He gets to travel with Ellie, explore space, just have fun. Plus his secondary protector-instincts are having soothed despite him not technically doing any hero-ing anymore. Really his sister had the right idea when she decided she wanted to become a doctor, this is honestly a blast.
And if someone does end up passing away, well, Ellie is always happy to help soothe their spirit and guide them to the Realms where they can reach their respective afterlife. Or become a ghost.
They are completely oblivious to the fact that there are now legends and entire temples dedicated to them now. Apparently accidental ascension is in fact a thing, as Dan later laughs at them about.

sobbing and crying because i got this wrapper on a chocolate
and i immediately thought of this:
--------------------
These kids will be the death of him.
Steve already knew this, mind you, he just thought the threat of actually dying from anything having to do with them was finally behind him for good.
But today.
Today, El was given a chocolate.
It was a leftover from Easter, one of those ones that has some sort of phrase typed on the inside of the wrapper (She probably shouldn’t have even eaten it, does chocolate go bad? They’re in the end of summer now..).
The kids were all at Steve’s, taking a last bit of a breather together before school started again. Before he, Robin, and Eddie make their move to Chicago. Before they’ll all be separated until a holiday rolls around.
Steve was lounging back on one of the chairs at the edge of his pool when El came up to him; Robin was on a chair of her own on his left, and Eddie, his darling boyfriend (Boyfriend! Can you believe that??), floating amongst the other gremlins still in the pool.
El’s shadow blocked the sun from his face when she stepped up to the other side of his chair, looking down at him with a determined look on her face (though the look is softened immensely by her chewing).
He smiles up at her, “What can I do for you, Bells?”
She doesn’t say anything, just swallows down whatever was still in her mouth and leans forward to hug him tightly around his arms and chest.
“Whoa, hey, You okay?” he says, starting to panic a bit, sitting up straight while wrapping an arm back around her. She’s not normally touchy or affectionate to others outside Hopper and the Byers, so he’s concerned, okay?
“I am okay,” she says, pulling back and handing him a shiny something. Steve takes it from her, recognizing as soon as he takes it, reading the chocolate’s message.
‘Hug the sunlight.’ is typed into the center of the foil.
El starts to explain before he can ask. “Eddie always calls you ‘Sunshine’, so I concluded this meant you.” She nods once in finality, and turns on her heel back to the chair she was sharing with Max.
Like he said, these kids are going to be the death of him.

Concept: A Victorian lit fanfic titled something catchy like,
“The League of Insanely Wealthy Broody Men Who Lost Their Families Under Traumatic Circumstances, Took On An Alias And Fight Corrupt Government.”
The Count of Monte Cristo: Sang bleu!! *flourishes cutlass* Vous aussi, vous êtes orphelins?
Captain Nemo: *Puts hand on electric pistol* हम न्याय चाहते हैं!
El Zorro: *Holds rapier aloft* ¡Muerte a las tiranas! ¡Vive la revolución!
Batman: I’m American and I speak only one language, but I’m liking the energy in the room.
